Transcript
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Good morning and welcome to Ag Squawk AM.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Jed Sidwell here, live from Juliet, Illinois.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Today on this fine Friday morning, we'll talk about the national corn harvest progress, cattle on feed placements, as well as some stocks that are going down in pre-market trade this morning.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: We'll get to all of that and more here in a bit.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Feeder cattle were down 28 cents at 346.48.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Lean Hogs in the front month.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Hey, they saw a bump though, up a dollar and twenty-three cents at 58.60.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Before I quote the grain markets here, I'd like to shout out our sponsor, plus 500.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: We use plus 500 T4 trading software to quote the markets every single day.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: And as I look here live, the December corn contract is down just a hair this morning at 4.49 and a half.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: January soybeans are at 1233 even.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: And December, Chicago wheat is at 6.03 and a half.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Looking towards this weekend's weather, overnight rain happened near the Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas border already, which ended field work there.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: We're going to see minimal rain from November 5th to November 6th and beyond.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: We are going to see a bit of a warm pattern across parts of the corn belt that should persist from November 3rd through November 4th.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Yesterday we talked about the national soybean harvest progress.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: So I thought it would be valuable, you know, to flop flip the script and look at the national corn harvest progress.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: And as we pop up this chart here, there is a lot to look at.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: The darker colors are obviously have had seen more progress recently.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, the culprits in terms of holding his back in terms of overall progress are Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ohio.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Ohio's only sitting at 35% harvested, and Wisconsin, man, at 42 up there.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Big states that we need to get those numbers in to truly get a good grasp of what this national yield looks like when this WASD report comes out.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: It'll be interesting to see what the overall picture is across the country.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: On the livestock market side of things, this is a chart from Mike Sands, and it's something that we discussed about in quite in depth on our Fat Tuesday show.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: It's our weekly cattle show where we discuss everything going on in the cattle market.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: It is for premium subscribers only, but this week we made it free.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: So if you're interested in the premium subscription, there's a good way to get a test feel of something you might like.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: The Fat Tuesday show from this past week is on all platforms.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: And we talked about this record low placement that we had in our Catalon Feed report.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: The Catalon Feed confirmed a record small September placement that is 88% of a year ago and 92% of what we even ex in expected.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: And you know, the cattle on feed report wasn't going on at the going down at the same rate for a long time because we weren't you know moving the cattle out of the feed yard at the same pace that we were declining putting them on to feed.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: We were just stretching them out further and further in terms of the amount of time that we could feed them.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: It is finally starting to catch up to us that we truly don't have the national cattle supply that we thought we did.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: This is the headline that caught my eye this morning.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Amazon falls 7%, Intel plunges 25% in pre-market trading as pressure mounts after earnings.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Amazon's shares fell after it reported negative free cash flow for the second consecutive quarter.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Intel fell as well after reporting earnings.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Investors are nervous about the massive AI spending from the tech giants and whether all of this spending will eventually pay off in the end.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: I think the American public has the same question as well.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: You know, we've seen this huge AI boom.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: It'll be interesting to see if really all of this was worth it at the end of the day.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, obviously, we want to be on the brink of the future in terms of being cutting edge and what we're doing compared to all of our international competitors.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: But at the same time, we don't want to, you know, go chasing for things that maybe aren't the most profitable at the end of the day.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Here's what we have on the economic calendar for today.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: The commitment of traders comes out at 2.30.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: That's after the close PM Central today.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: And that's all we got.
