Latest / Outcast / God, a coping mechanism?
Transcript
- 0:32All right, welcome back. It's been not too long, like a
- 0:36week. Yeah.
- 0:38So last time we ended up with Do you use God as a coping
- 0:45mechanism? Yep.
- 0:47Or do you actually see God as like our Lord and Savior?
- 0:50Pretty much. That's tough.
- 0:52But before we get started, we always pray.
- 0:55Amen. And.
- 0:56You want to lead it. Yeah, sure, I'll lead it.
- 0:58I'll lead it. Thank you, Father, for allowing
- 1:02us to be here, guide us and lead us always into the absolute
- 1:06truth, because You are the one true, living God, and there's no
- 1:10one who is greater than You. Your ways.
- 1:14We'll always be superior to our ways, O Lord, for You know all
- 1:17things and we know nothing. At the end of the day, You are
- 1:20the one true, living God, and there's no one who is greater
- 1:25than You. Amen.
- 1:27Amen. All right, we have someone here
- 1:30on the podcast. Yeah, it's.
- 1:32AI think you had mentioned it. We're gonna have two special
- 1:34guests coming in and out. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:36But you know what? Why don't you introduce yourself
- 1:39and so you know? Well, how do I Do I introduce
- 1:43myself as George or? Whatever.
- 1:45George Janko, George Washington, you whatever you want.
- 1:49I'm. Gonna say George because I was
- 1:51referred to as George in the last podcast.
- 1:53Yeah, yeah, yeah. My name is George.
- 1:56Grateful to be here. Glory to God.
- 1:58To be honest. Yeah, God, it really is.
- 2:01Yeah. So just to give out a little
- 2:04insight, like George, you recently got baptized, right?
- 2:08I did, I did. It was, it was life changing for
- 2:11sure. It was something that I felt
- 2:18like God had been wanting me to do for a while.
- 2:20But I've been a stubborn, A stubborn man for a long time,
- 2:24very long time that. Happens to everybody.
- 2:26Though, Yeah, No, that happens. You know, that happened a lot to
- 2:29me, you know, growing up as a kid because we all pretty much
- 2:32went to the same church. Yeah.
- 2:34And I'm not going to lie, I mean, I know the topic today is
- 2:37do we use God as a coping mechanism?
- 2:39I I can, I would have to use like a like, I don't know how
- 2:43many hands to count the amount of times I would be heartbroken,
- 2:47go to God and then leave, get heartbroken again, go to God and
- 2:51then leave until one day I was like, I'm done.
- 2:53Yeah, man, can't do this. No.
- 2:55More. Yeah, it's almost, you were
- 2:57talking about this yesterday. I think it was a little bit
- 2:59challenging for the the one of the guys that were there.
- 3:01Yeah, I think everybody does that though, right?
- 3:05They almost do it subconsciously.
- 3:07Yeah. We, we, we, it could be any, it
- 3:10could be literally anything. For you, it was heartbreak.
- 3:13For others, it could be alcohol, whatever, right.
- 3:18Or addiction to it could be pornography, drugs, all of the
- 3:25above. Yeah.
- 3:26And when we say, oh, I need God, I need God.
- 3:29We come to him and then we start like using him to cope with our
- 3:36our things, right? You know what I mean, Right,
- 3:38right. Rather than recognizing no, I'm
- 3:40nothing. Yeah, I I'm nothing.
- 3:43Absolutely. You.
- 3:45You're king. Yeah, no, absolutely no.
- 3:48And another thing too, like in the in the book of Revelations,
- 3:52when he speaks about the churches, there's that church
- 3:55that has the God calls out for having systems within the
- 3:59church. He's like, Oh, you guys think
- 4:00you're wise and all this, but truth be told, you are poor,
- 4:04pretty blind, you know, and when you use God as a coping
- 4:08mechanism, so you think you are being wise to coming to him with
- 4:12tears. And then next thing you know,
- 4:14you completely run away from God after God.
- 4:18Like, you know, like you feel that, I guess warmth from God,
- 4:23and then you run away, 'cause you're like, OK, I'm all better
- 4:25now. Like a bandage.
- 4:26Like a bandage, Yeah. But you know what though?
- 4:30That's that's the culture's fault.
- 4:32Yeah, I agree. American Culture.
- 4:34I mean, I don't know about George.
- 4:35I'm sure he has his own right experiences, right?
- 4:40Yeah. But it's like we come with the
- 4:41same backpack. I mean, you come to God.
- 4:43God, you keep praying about the same thing as if he hasn't heard
- 4:46you right. Right.
- 4:48Yeah, exactly. It's like almost like, yo,
- 4:50where's your faith at? Where's your faith?
- 4:52You know, help me with this. You come with that again next
- 4:55week. You come again with that the
- 4:57next right when he said come and bring all your burdens upon me
- 5:01once in this. Once, yeah, which requires
- 5:04faith, absolutely requires faith.
- 5:06And another, another thing too, is for believers, do not confuse
- 5:12being lazy with faith, with having faith on God and waiting
- 5:16on him. Because a lot of times when we
- 5:17come to him with our backpacks, you know, God does expect us.
- 5:20Like, OK, you were, he was patient with you.
- 5:26So now God is like, OK, I want you to be patient with me.
- 5:30So you know what I'm saying. Yeah, I remember when you told
- 5:33me that when I was in my early walks with God.
- 5:35And I'm not going to lie, that was so uncomfortable to hear.
- 5:38The what? The what?
- 5:39Because you're like, all right, bro, this whole time, bro, God
- 5:42has been patient with you. So now you got to be patient
- 5:45with God. Well, yeah, because think about
- 5:47it. He's waiting for you to come
- 5:49this whole time. Super patient.
- 5:51Yeah, beyond patient, right. Then you come and you're here
- 5:54like the little kid with the list.
- 5:57He's like, what? Yeah.
- 5:58No, no, you're going to wait on me now, if in fact you come to
- 6:02me because you think I, you know I am.
- 6:03Yeah, yeah, yeah. Or is it because you need me to?
- 6:06You need me for a certain. Thing for your checklist, yeah.
- 6:08Because it's convenient to you might.
- 6:10As well go to Santa Claus at that point.
- 6:12That's how we treat him, though. That's true.
- 6:14We do treat him like that. We.
- 6:15Treat him like that. Yeah.
- 6:17We come to him when we. It's a convenient.
- 6:19Yeah. And he's so generous to actually
- 6:21do that, even on top of that. That's what I'm saying.
- 6:25Only to teach you a lesson afterwards.
- 6:27Yeah, it's almost like, man, dude, I can't even tell you the
- 6:30amount of times I've done that hour and and God, you know,
- 6:33God's so generous. He like, you know, he's there
- 6:35for me. And then I'd be like, thanks,
- 6:37God, back to like, you know, getting hurt again.
- 6:40Yeah, but those are with little things in life, right?
- 6:43Then life gets complex. Absolutely.
- 6:45Work career, yeah, whatever it may be.
- 6:48On top of that, the nation is unpredictable.
- 6:54The economy is, you know, having inflation, right?
- 6:58That's just the country and then the whole world.
- 7:01And then everybody's just like, well, all the believers.
- 7:03I'm talking about the believers, right, right.
- 7:04Like, what's going on? And some of them are freaking
- 7:07out. And what do we do?
- 7:08Like, is this actually going to happen?
- 7:09Yeah. Especially with the Iran and the
- 7:11Israel war. Yeah.
- 7:13It puts people on edge. Absolutely.
- 7:14Especially from they're from 1 extreme or from the other
- 7:17extreme, Right. Right.
- 7:18They're like, you know, you're just like, what's going on.
- 7:22Yeah. But for some believers, they're
- 7:23like, this is this is happening. But so in the Bible, like Jesus
- 7:29says, like you will hear rumors of war.
- 7:31Yeah, correct. But be like Jesus says not to
- 7:33worry, right? Right.
- 7:35I was meditating on that. You say not to worry because if
- 7:40you have faith, whatever happens, happens, which I know
- 7:43that's that's the whole like, that's for sure.
- 7:45But then it was there like, is there another layer to that
- 7:47where like if there when it does happen, there will be no rumors?
- 7:53Like it will happen out of nowhere.
- 7:54Yeah. So like, these rumors are just
- 7:56not to worry about these rumors because they're fake, he says.
- 7:58You. Yeah, exactly.
- 8:00You will hear rumors of work, but still it is not the end,
- 8:04Right, Right. It's just rumors.
- 8:05But this is about the the earth having contraction.
- 8:10Yeah. The, you know, birthing pains.
- 8:12Yeah, Yeah, right, if you will. Right, Right.
- 8:13So rumors can be something like a birthing pains, but it's not
- 8:18necessarily yet the end. Well.
- 8:20Because there's, there's probably been, I mean, there's
- 8:22been two world wars already. I'm sure, I'm sure believers at
- 8:25that point, they were probably conflicted and thought it was
- 8:28the end. Oh, yeah, exactly.
- 8:30Like, for example, the the Second World War, right?
- 8:33Yeah. For the people living in that
- 8:34time, they're like, this is yeah, this.
- 8:36Is it? Yeah.
- 8:37War. We're done mass destruction,
- 8:39right? Yep, but I personally think that
- 8:43we will witness maybe witness World War 3 or maybe our our
- 8:48children will. Right, but that doesn't mean
- 8:50that. It's but it doesn't necessarily
- 8:51mean yeah, that that is the war that will end all wars.
- 8:54No, because the one that scripture talks about, that
- 8:56seems to be something completely at a much greater scale.
- 9:00Unimaginable, right, Right. That the word of Armageddon,
- 9:03that's something that's just huge scale where where the
- 9:07physical and the spiritual realm meet.
- 9:10Yeah, that's something just much bigger.
- 9:13But definitely that the war that's kind of about to happen,
- 9:18sort of maybe not, we don't know.
- 9:20But for now it seems like it has has cooled down Right, right,
- 9:24right, right. Absolutely.
- 9:25I mean. Dude, just what?
- 9:26Like, was it 2020 or 2019? Going into 2020, there was a
- 9:30scare, Yeah, because everybody was convinced Korea was gonna.
- 9:34Oh yeah. North Korea.
- 9:35Yeah, we were. Going to World War Three, yeah.
- 9:36Yeah, yeah, I remember that. Yeah, I remember that.
- 9:38But China, yeah, China did tell the guy from North Korea.
- 9:41Chill out, calm yourself down. Relax.
- 9:45Oh, it's funny. Yeah.
- 9:47Now, there's been a lot of rumours of war lately.
- 9:49A lot of them. So, yeah, despite our personal
- 9:52things going nationally and then all around the world, I, I make,
- 9:57I get it. Believers can be a little
- 10:01confused, feel a little bit of anxiety, whatever you want to
- 10:04call it, will be worried. And on top of that, they're
- 10:08coming to God for things of their convenience, right?
- 10:11And they feel like maybe all this stuff might get in the way
- 10:13of their conveniences, right? When in fact, God just wants one
- 10:17thing from us. I am your savior.
- 10:21That's it. Yeah, you were mentioning
- 10:24something yesterday that if you read, read carefully.
- 10:27I know that it's too extensive, but Christ says, Oh yeah, you
- 10:31cannot come to me, right? Listen to.
- 10:34This let me let me pull it up for you right now, dude.
- 10:36I actually have it right in front of me and he says it's
- 10:39twice by the way, so you know, I'm not tripping.
- 10:43OK, so John 6 verse 65, and I don't know if I should give a
- 10:50little summary of what's going on here.
- 10:52Just read that little section then you can OK.
- 10:55So this is what Christ said. This is what Christ said, This
- 10:59is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is
- 11:07granted to Him by the Father. You see, you see that right
- 11:13there, that that's interesting because in other ones, he said,
- 11:18don't. No one can come to the Father if
- 11:19it's not. Through me.
- 11:21And here he's saying no one can come to me.
- 11:24Unless it's granted. Granted to him, whoever that is,
- 11:27that person, he or she, by the Father, for you then to come to
- 11:31him. Exactly.
- 11:32That's crazy. Super crazy.
- 11:34When you read that yesterday, I was like, wait, hold on.
- 11:37We read things very quickly and try to put patterns to other
- 11:41stuff that we've read before. This is completely different
- 11:44versus yeah, the other one was like, no, it comes to the father
- 11:46if it's not through me, right? This one is different.
- 11:48Very different. Yeah, because he's.
- 11:50Teaching them. You guys only came to me because
- 11:51you feed. Because I'm feeding you.
- 11:53Yeah. You.
- 11:53You don't even care about the signs that that I've given you,
- 11:56right? You didn't care about that.
- 11:57You're asking me to show you proof that I'm the Messiah,
- 12:01right? Because you want to see Mana.
- 12:03Yeah. Yeah.
- 12:04I'm telling you that I am that bread.
- 12:06Right. And then he then tells him.
- 12:07I keep telling you no. No one can come to me if it, if
- 12:11it's not granted to him by the Father, by the Father you then
- 12:13to come to Him. Exactly.
- 12:15Exactly. You see that?
- 12:17Oh yeah, dude, absolutely. And.
- 12:20I know George is like right now. No, no, no, dude, dude.
- 12:23I'm buffering, right? Now why no it's.
- 12:25It's deep. It's.
- 12:26Crazy very deep because you you want to let your mind wander,
- 12:29but you want to keep it to what it says.
- 12:31That's I don't want to like. Yeah, literally.
- 12:33He's saying you cannot come to me if in it, if it is not to
- 12:37like let's say let's say Jesus. I'm not Jesus, right?
- 12:39But let's say I'm Jesus. You can't come to me unless
- 12:42stuff my father grants you to come to me.
- 12:45Yeah, that's. Crazy bro, that's so crazy
- 12:48'cause look, there is a part, the only one that OK, this is oh
- 12:52man, this is deep, but there is a part where Christ asked the
- 12:56disciples, who am I? And then and then Peter
- 13:00responds, oh, you're Christ the the Son of the living God.
- 13:04And then and then Peter. And then Christ responds to
- 13:07Peter. He says, blessed are you,
- 13:08because it was not flesh and blood that revealed it to you,
- 13:12but it was my Father who is in heaven who revealed it to you.
- 13:15Yeah, so Peter again, remember, they were all Jews, so they all
- 13:23had a common faith, right? They weren't like they didn't
- 13:25believe in God. They knew who God was, right?
- 13:29The problem here is that he was coming now as the Messiah.
- 13:32Who's declaring that to them based on what they read on the
- 13:35Torah, based on what they read with the prophets.
- 13:38He's making this claim now. In non modern time, pretty much
- 13:42everybody knows, has heard the Gospel, right?
- 13:46They know about the Jews, they know about, right?
- 13:48Yeah. The Christianity, whether if
- 13:50it's Orthodox, Catholic, whatever, they all know to a
- 13:54certain extent who God is, right?
- 13:56Like, you know, George, your friend, your friends may believe
- 13:59in God to a certain yeah, yeah, God, yeah, or your friends,
- 14:02whatever, because they've heard it social media, right,
- 14:05whatever, right. So what does this mean to them?
- 14:09I mean, they've heard of Christ for Peter at that time and them
- 14:12they were like, show us, we'll believe you.
- 14:15We don't even believe in him. No, no, it's true.
- 14:17But in this case, we don't have Christ here with us present.
- 14:20He's not here with us, right? That's what he tells Thomas.
- 14:23Blessed is the one who believes and does not.
- 14:24Does not see exactly now dude and and a lot of people like
- 14:28Christianity Today. We know that Christ is Christ.
- 14:31He's the Messiah. We know Lord, right?
- 14:34We call him Lord, right. But you know, it's funny because
- 14:38the people that were looking for him that that Christ called out
- 14:42and said, you guys are only here because I'm going to feed you.
- 14:44They they don't call him Lord. They said, Rabbi, when did you
- 14:48get here? That's what they call it Christ.
- 14:51They don't, Rabbi. They recognize them as a as a
- 14:53teacher. As a teacher, that much?
- 14:54Yeah, Yeah. But the others would call him
- 14:57Lord, Yes. So.
- 15:00But now everybody's saying, Lord, but there will be a time
- 15:03where a Christ would be like, you know, you know, get away
- 15:07from me. I never knew you.
- 15:09You know, those are going to be the people that will use Christ
- 15:13at, you know, with their tongue. They will, they will say, you
- 15:15know, like Lord, Lord, you know. We know you.
- 15:18Yeah, like we knew you. Like we know you.
- 15:20Like, so it's like saying, yeah, you've called me by my name.
- 15:22My name, right? You've never made me Lord your
- 15:25life. Exactly.
- 15:25Exactly. So it seems like, and I'm saying
- 15:28this boldly, believers, right? Someone who doesn't believe in
- 15:33God, this means nothing to them, right?
- 15:35It's not yet right, right for a believer when we come to God,
- 15:38and I include myself in this because of spirit in the past,
- 15:41absolutely when we would come to God for for a convenient to cope
- 15:45with something, we would we do it just to call upon his name or
- 15:50did we? Did we come to Him because we
- 15:52knew He is the Lord of our life? Exactly.
- 15:55Now going back to the same story of John 6, when Christ taught
- 15:59about the, you know, the, the, the, the flesh and the blood and
- 16:03the bread and the wine, he was, you know, he was telling them
- 16:06about that. But then the people were like,
- 16:08what is this guy saying? He's like, we're going to eat
- 16:11his flesh and blood and remember what the Old Testament law says.
- 16:16Yeah, in Leviticus. You know, you cannot touch the
- 16:18dead, you know what I mean? But like, they got up and they
- 16:21left. And then Christ looked at his
- 16:23disciples. He said the 12, the 12.
- 16:25Yeah, he's, he's, he's like, you guys can leave too.
- 16:28You guys not want to leave too. But then Peter recognized or he
- 16:32already knew. He's like.
- 16:34But Lord, you have words of eternal life.
- 16:36Where shall we go? Where shall we go if?
- 16:38You have words of eternal life, right?
- 16:39So that story has like a perfect description of when somebody
- 16:42makes Christ. The Lord of their life.
- 16:45Of their life and then someone that just sees him as a rabbi a.
- 16:48Teacher. That's a teacher.
- 16:49That's insane. Yeah, yeah, dude, that's a
- 16:52perfect story for that, Yeah. I know, I know this is is tough.
- 16:56And again, the, the, the conversation that we had last
- 16:59night at the Bible study was it was very quiet and I can feel a
- 17:03little bit of tension because you could call it whatever you
- 17:08want, coping mechanism or a way to deal with things, whatever.
- 17:12Right, right. If, if, if in fact you come to
- 17:15God because you need him to do something versus realizing the
- 17:20truth of what's happening, right.
- 17:23Remember that conversation I was having with you, George, where
- 17:26like it was an advice where like it was in the group channels,
- 17:29like, hey, let's not, you know, let's not serve guy with a like
- 17:33as a Copa mechanism or play hide and seek with him.
- 17:35When we played hide and seek with him, that's what's
- 17:37happening. Yeah.
- 17:39We hide and then we seek. We seek him.
- 17:41We hide and then we seek him. Yeah.
- 17:43We hide because, well, he met my needs.
- 17:45I come and seek him back again. I hide because I, you know, he
- 17:49he did what he had to do. I hide again, then come back
- 17:51again. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:52How many times of that do we have to be doing that right?
- 17:55Or do we come to him feeling so shameful and his glory, just his
- 18:01brightness or radiance just strips us off and exposed and
- 18:05that's just like so uncomfortable.
- 18:07But that right there, if in fact you can, you can cross that
- 18:11boundary of despair, if you will.
- 18:12Right, right. That means you know that he is
- 18:15your Lord. Right, absolutely.
- 18:17And you know, we come to God because we know that He has
- 18:20wisdom. We know He has wisdom.
- 18:22Now this is what James says to the one that plays hide and
- 18:24seek, to the one that likes to play hide and seek, he says
- 18:27this. Now if any of you lacks wisdom,
- 18:30he should ask God, who gives all generously and ungrudgedly, and
- 18:37it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith without
- 18:40doubting, for the doubter is like the surgency driven and
- 18:45tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to
- 18:49receive anything from the Lord, being double minded and unstable
- 18:54in all his ways. So that's what happens when you
- 18:58start playing hide and seek with God.
- 18:59Yeah, it becomes double minded. So what happens?
- 19:02You go hide, seek, hide and seek.
- 19:04Unstable, unstable, double minded and.
- 19:06You doubt it. You doubt?
- 19:07Yeah, you doubt? It has to be a sense of
- 19:08doubting, right? Because if in fact you come to
- 19:11God and you know, you're being destroyed, right?
- 19:14And you're like God, you, you are my fortress, right?
- 19:16I don't care. Absolutely.
- 19:18Once that problem or storm or whatever you call it, you go
- 19:21through, yeah, that would be the true.
- 19:23Test. Amen.
- 19:25Do you keep going? Yeah, full force with God.
- 19:27Or it's like, well, I guess, well, cruise control, we're good
- 19:31now. Yeah, absolutely.
- 19:33From my. The way I feel, the way I played
- 19:38hide and seek and I pray I never fall back into it again.
- 19:43But see, it happens to everybody though.
- 19:44Right, Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think in my case, the way I
- 19:47took it more, it was like you, like you say as a coping
- 19:49mechanism, I would take God. It was like whenever there's
- 19:55people who, when they want things going for them, like when
- 19:59things are going good for them and they still look for God,
- 20:02Like that's what like true faith.
- 20:03You know, my case was always like I would only come to God
- 20:07whenever it was, you know, in utter despair.
- 20:09It was all based off emotion. You know, when I was looking at
- 20:12my deepest darkest air at like times.
- 20:15So I would come to God and it wasn't like I would and I would
- 20:17pray, but it wasn't like, I can't say, 'cause I know now
- 20:21what fate like not I'm learning what faith really is.
- 20:24Is it was but that what that was it was hope.
- 20:27I would pray to God hoping, because what's the difference is
- 20:30that the hope was the hope was like, OK, if something, if, if
- 20:33God makes it better, glory to God, he made it better.
- 20:37Exactly but. Did I did I really believe?
- 20:40OK, no, God has me. I'm going to get through this.
- 20:44Like whatever I get through is is because, and I said, and I'm
- 20:47going to serve him because whatever is that I'm going to
- 20:50get through, I'm never going to go through it again.
- 20:52Instead of no, I hope God will Get Me Out of this.
- 20:53And he would because his grace is abundant, ridiculously
- 20:56abundant. So I would get out of it.
- 20:59But what I'd still keep living my life.
- 21:01Exactly. And I wouldn't be like it would
- 21:03just be it was like a false like I'd be like, oh, like like
- 21:06anytime someone would ask me how you're doing, you know, right.
- 21:10Oh, I'm great, I'm good. You know, you say I'm blessed,
- 21:13but I'm saying that like, do I really feel that way?
- 21:17Like, do I really have that gratitude of that I'm blessed?
- 21:20Right, right. No, I didn't, you know, because
- 21:22I wasn't serving God exactly. I was serving myself, and then I
- 21:25wanted whenever I was. When?
- 21:27I was down. Bad.
- 21:27I wanted him to serve me. Yeah, exactly, because you then
- 21:31you you then texted back saying so the bottom line is we serve
- 21:36him. He doesn't serve us right.
- 21:38And I was, and I believe I respond was like exactly.
- 21:41He already did it once at the cross.
- 21:43Mm Hmm. In service, yeah.
- 21:45Yeah. To all of humanity, right,
- 21:47Right. And yet we he, we come here and
- 21:50we demand. More service.
- 21:53It's like, it's like what Paul says he's like, should we
- 21:56continue on sinning? Like should grace?
- 21:58Be more. Yeah, Yeah, yeah.
- 22:00That's continued. Yeah, exactly.
- 22:01Yeah, dude, it's like Christ already did it for us, man.
- 22:04No. The blessings in our purpose.
- 22:05Yeah, and I get it. I I like what one of the the
- 22:09sisters said yesterday. She says that there's so much
- 22:13more distraction, so it's so easy to get distracted.
- 22:16Oh yeah. So much easier, right?
- 22:18You know, laptop computer, Netflix, it's so easy.
- 22:22You can do bowling, you can do so many things now.
- 22:26So it's so easy to get caught up, right?
- 22:28And then only when something doesn't work, right back to God.
- 22:32Yeah, back and. Forth, back and forth back.
- 22:34And forth. You know what I mean.
- 22:36And interestingly, when you said when Chris says no one can come
- 22:40to me unless he is granted by him, by my father for him to
- 22:43come to me, that really makes sense.
- 22:47When in Scripture says that God listens to the broken hearted
- 22:52because the one who's truly broken hearted is not coming
- 22:55because he needs to cope with things, broken hearted because
- 22:58he's done. Right, he's just.
- 23:01Recognized and fully understands.
- 23:04Done. I'm done, yeah.
- 23:05And that's when he draw nears. Yeah, that's when I I really
- 23:10first encountered for the first time, like what it truly was to
- 23:13be like, all right, yeah, God is here with me.
- 23:16Like I thought I was all the times I had come to God.
- 23:22I thought that was a broken heart.
- 23:24No, it was just sadness. It was just sadness.
- 23:27It wasn't until I experienced a real broken heart.
- 23:30Like what it is to truly just be to the point where you, you look
- 23:33at yourself and you're like, what are you?
- 23:35Like what are you? You know, it's almost like you
- 23:37come face to face with yourself. Yeah.
- 23:39Yeah. Before.
- 23:40Before the presence of God. Yeah.
- 23:41And. Then yeah, exactly.
- 23:43And then you know what my conclusion was nothing, nothing.
- 23:47I am nothing, dude. And in that pursuit of trying to
- 23:49be or think you, I am. But like thinking I was
- 23:52something I was breaking my heart, actually just destroying
- 23:55myself like like once, once I realized like, dude, I am
- 23:58nothing like God is everything. Peace just was like, all right,
- 24:04you understand now? Yeah.
- 24:06And then since then it's just been like, okay.
- 24:08Yeah. You gotta let me to understand
- 24:10you and it hasn't been easy because especially from this the
- 24:17I mean, obviously I don't know, but I can't speak for everybody,
- 24:19but I know the stubbornness of my flesh is.
- 24:22I think everybody at a certain at everybody is stubborn at a
- 24:26like a certain level where stubbornness, right, Right.
- 24:29I could be stubborn in certain areas.
- 24:31I'm sure you can, Joe be stubborn.
- 24:33Yeah. Like a little kid, yeah.
- 24:35Yeah, and then open minded with other things.
- 24:36Right, but there's some people who are just hardcore stubborn,
- 24:40right? Like stiff neck, like how God
- 24:42called the people of Israel. And now, you know, back to to
- 24:45that conversation. Now I wonder why he dealt with
- 24:49this. People.
- 24:50Stiff neck, people. Right, right.
- 24:51Yeah, there's there's a lot of good questions on that too.
- 24:54Like that could be a cool topic for one day to talk about, yeah.
- 24:57You were going to say something. What was it?
- 25:00You have something in mind. No idea anymore.
- 25:05It's OK. That happens to me all the time.
- 25:08Yeah. So back to, you know, back in
- 25:11track with the this idea of coping, using God as A to cope
- 25:16with things. Now one would wonder, well, when
- 25:20you're thinking bad thoughts, you want to pray.
- 25:23That's true, but you don't want to use prayer as also to cope
- 25:26with things. That's true.
- 25:27Prayer is should be an instinctual thing, a
- 25:30conversation, a meditation with that you are with God like 24/7
- 25:34when you go to sleep, when you wake up, it should be this
- 25:36instinctual thing. It shouldn't be something
- 25:38because so you're you're thinking something bad.
- 25:40Oh, God, please have mercy. And you start then reciting the
- 25:43prayer. Lord, who's in heaven.
- 25:44How would be your name of all right, right.
- 25:47Yeah. Whoa.
- 25:49You know you know who was a perfect example.
- 25:51Of the. Person that did not use even
- 25:54prayer as a coping mechanism. Paul.
- 25:58Yeah. Paul was, you know, he, he, he
- 26:00was going through a torment, you know, and, and he prayed to God.
- 26:04God, can you please take away this torment?
- 26:09But he was. Honest, though, in his prayer.
- 26:11Well, like that. You know, he was honest, like,
- 26:14oh, yeah, the fact that you bring in Paul, Paul up is
- 26:16because Moses also was, was honest.
- 26:20Oh yeah, in his prayer with God. Like in other words, God, why
- 26:24are you doing this to me? Yeah, no, dude, I literally have
- 26:27the the verse open right now. Oh, if you want me to read it.
- 26:29Yeah. You want me to?
- 26:30Yeah, go for it. So.
- 26:30So. Yeah.
- 26:31So, So Moses was dealing with how many people?
- 26:34Millions of millions of people, bro, he was, he was the leader
- 26:37of millions of people. I, you know, I don't, I can't
- 26:40even imagine that, but he would he, you know, he was praying to
- 26:44God with full honesty. And because the people were
- 26:47complaining, they were like, oh, when we were in Egypt.
- 26:50They were thinking of all the good.
- 26:51Things, all the good things, the food, the fish that they had,
- 26:53the cucumbers, all this stuff. And then Moses, you know, he
- 26:57heard the people. It says, it says in verse 10,
- 27:00Numbers 11, verse 10, Moses heard the people, family after
- 27:04family weeping at the entrance of their tents.
- 27:07The Lord was very angry. Moses was also provoked.
- 27:11So Moses asked the Lord, Why have you brought such trouble on
- 27:16your servant? Why are you angry with me?
- 27:19And why do you burden me with all these people?
- 27:23Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth?
- 27:27So you should tell me, Carry them at your breast, as a
- 27:31nursing mother carries a baby to the land that you swore to give
- 27:36their ancestors. Where can I get meat to give all
- 27:40these people? For they are weeping to me.
- 27:43Give us meat to eat. I can't carry all these people
- 27:47by myself. They are too much for me.
- 27:51If you are going to treat me like this, please kill me right
- 27:55now. If I have found favor with you
- 27:57if. You heard that if I have fine
- 28:00favor and you please kill me. Dude, that's how honest he was,
- 28:05no? He was.
- 28:06What do you get from that relationship that Moses had with
- 28:09God? Dude like a father and son.
- 28:11Literally like he wasn't coming to him to cope this.
- 28:14No, no, no. He was just like, yo, brother,
- 28:16like, why are you doing this to me?
- 28:18What he was that he trusted God so much to speak Yeah, to him in
- 28:25that way, in that way. I'm not saying for everybody to
- 28:27go ahead and right, right to God like that.
- 28:30But when we pray to God, have that level of honesty with him.
- 28:35Yeah. Why is this happening to me?
- 28:37Help me understand. Yeah.
- 28:38Yeah. You are his child, right?
- 28:40And he's your. Father, Exactly, Exactly.
- 28:43And then at the end, you know, obviously Moses went up to the
- 28:46people. He said God is not going to feed
- 28:47you for one day. He's not going to feed you for
- 28:49two days, not ten days, not not two months or like he's like
- 28:52he's going to feed you until the food comes out of your nostrils.
- 28:57But besides all that, you can see the difference too.
- 29:01Also here of like Moses used God as like my Lord and Savior, like
- 29:06he is my Lord and he's my God, He's my king.
- 29:09And then the people were using God as a coping mechanism to
- 29:11survive. Yeah.
- 29:12'Cause they'll be like, oh God, I need this.
- 29:14I pray that you do this. Can you do this for me?
- 29:17The resume is that that versus like, God, I'm here and I have
- 29:21absolutely no idea where I'm going.
- 29:24Right, Right. Something like that.
- 29:25Exactly. You're being completely honest.
- 29:27Yeah, I don't have a job. You're being honest with that.
- 29:33I don't. But I trust you.
- 29:35Right. But.
- 29:35But I'm complaining also, like, right.
- 29:38Right. What are we doing here?
- 29:39Guide me. I trust you.
- 29:41Why? Because you recognize that he is
- 29:43the Lord of. Your right of your life.
- 29:46That much to speak to him that way, that you trust in him.
- 29:48Yeah, now the people of Israel were complaining, but also Moses
- 29:52was complaining. But there's a difference here.
- 29:54The people of Israel were doubting.
- 29:57They were doubting. That's what God got angry.
- 29:59God was like, you kidding me? You're still doubting me after
- 30:02I've already fed you. They saw the sea being open.
- 30:05Right, this is all. After that, right, Yeah.
- 30:07Yeah, yeah, they saw the fire from the sky, I mean.
- 30:10That's what Moses was like. What more do you need?
- 30:12Yeah. That's why he was done.
- 30:14He was like, yeah, like, if they can't see you, like, kill me.
- 30:16Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:17And you know how much power that has that you said, if I have
- 30:21found favor in you, strike me now.
- 30:22Because he was so he was seeing what God could do and he knew
- 30:26that he could. If God, you would have killed
- 30:28him right there, right? He really wanted to die.
- 30:31He was done. Right now one would say, oh, he
- 30:33used suicide him. No, dude, no.
- 30:35He just had so much faith in God.
- 30:36He. Just wanted to.
- 30:37Be out of there. That's why, he said if I have
- 30:38found. Favor in you.
- 30:39Yeah, just kill me. Like, that's not not like, oh
- 30:42God, just kill me. Yeah.
- 30:43And you know. Nah, Nah.
- 30:44Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
- 30:46Yeah, because I mean. Someone wanted to be put out of
- 30:47his misery. At that point, yeah bro.
- 30:49He he wanted to just be with God.
- 30:51Exactly He. Was like, I was like alright to,
- 30:53to like whatever, to heck with them.
- 30:55Like if they want to perish, no, perish God, just take me.
- 30:57I'm done with this. There was another incident too,
- 31:00the fact that he brought up that when he another prayer to God
- 31:05where God's like I'm done with them.
- 31:06Oh dude. And I wonder if he did that to
- 31:09test Moses. Right.
- 31:10Interesting. Right.
- 31:10I'm done with them. And Moses.
- 31:12Like what? How can you do that?
- 31:14What are the nations going to think of you?
- 31:16A God who took them out of Egypt only to make them die in the
- 31:18desert? What would they think of you?
- 31:20Oh my God. Yeah.
- 31:21So he was making it all about God, Yes.
- 31:23Yeah, bro. You see what I mean?
- 31:25Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I'm not saying obviously his
- 31:28circumstance, obviously he was given a role that changed.
- 31:31History Generations. Up to where we are now, but that
- 31:36similar application can be applied to our lives.
- 31:39Absolutely. On how we see how he made, he
- 31:41made cut everything right? His breathing, his seeing, his
- 31:44hearing everything. We should also have that, just
- 31:49like Paul. Yeah, absolutely no, dude.
- 31:51Even when when, when, when God was like to Paul, he's like when
- 31:55when Paul was praying, he was like, take this, you know, thorn
- 31:58away from me. And God was like, no, my grace
- 32:00is sufficient. And then he was like, you know
- 32:03what, Thank you, God 'cause now, you know, I know that this is a
- 32:06way of like humbling me and saw them boast so.
- 32:10So he reckon he wasn't using God as a coping mechanism.
- 32:13No, he wasn't using prayer as a coping mechanism.
- 32:15He knew that God was God. And that's it as that's yeah,
- 32:18'cause he said. He said to them.
- 32:20Then I then realized that the spirit of torment that he sent,
- 32:24uh huh, right. So sometimes the testing of God
- 32:29comes right to build character absolutely as a child before for
- 32:33his presence. So even if it's temptation
- 32:36testing, God is the one who tested the mind and searches
- 32:39the. Heart Amen to that bro.
- 32:40Right. He doesn't bring all of this to
- 32:42the person who doesn't have the capacity to get through it
- 32:44right. And that's the scripture too.
- 32:46Oh yeah, James says this James chapter one, right?
- 32:50Verse 3, up to four, he says. Because you know that the
- 32:55testing of your faith produces endurance, and let any endurance
- 33:00have its full effect. So don't coward out and try to
- 33:03run away. All right?
- 33:04When, when you're going through that so that you may be mature.
- 33:08Yeah. Deep.
- 33:09Yeah. So endure it.
- 33:10So it says. Hold.
- 33:12On that's it, yes, he says, he says and let endurance have its
- 33:17full effect so there's a chance you can run away from it and he
- 33:21says so that you may be mature and complete lacking nothing.
- 33:28Hey man, wise words from James. That's basically.
- 33:31How to stop using God as copen mechanism?
- 33:33Yep, Yep. You have to hold on.
- 33:35Yeah, because that's. That's what I'm going through
- 33:38right now. It's like, you know, I finally
- 33:40get baptized. I finally am completely just
- 33:43surrendering. And this is when I've been
- 33:44attacked. I'm be a little bit vulnerable
- 33:46here, honest. In like, flesh really.
- 33:50It hasn't been this intense, maybe since I hit puberty.
- 33:53Like, I'm serious. Yeah, for everybody.
- 33:55Right, right, right. Man, I'm already a grown man at
- 33:57this point. I'm 27.
- 33:58I know I'm not an animal. I know I'm not an animal, but I
- 34:01know I'm not a kid on. That I'm so funny, dude.
- 34:04You know, and and it's just like, no and but like, you know,
- 34:07be back like back when I was using gyno scope of, you know,
- 34:10you fall, you're like, OK, that's when you start playing
- 34:12see hide and seek. You start hiding because you
- 34:14fell. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:15Oh God, I already failed you. I'm going to hide.
- 34:16Yeah, yeah, That's impossible, right?
- 34:18Instead of facing it, I'm like, OK, I fell, but I'm gonna keep
- 34:21going. I'm gonna keep pushing through,
- 34:23right until you like just having faith.
- 34:25It's good to God. It's going to change me.
- 34:26It's going to get to a point where it's not going to be any
- 34:28anywhere on my mind. It's just my whole thought
- 34:30process is going to be just God. Exactly, he said.
- 34:34Faith, right. What did those guys who wanted?
- 34:37They were falling in for bread. Hey, hey, Rabbi, we want to do
- 34:40the work of God. Oh, he's like, you want to do
- 34:42the work for God. This is the work for God that
- 34:45you may believe that listen. This is the work of God that you
- 34:49may believe of the one who he who he has sent.
- 34:53Yes. So you are doing the work,
- 34:55brother. You're having faith.
- 34:58Yep, absolutely. And you know what?
- 35:00He, I think this is where he says it.
- 35:01Right here. Let me put a letter for you.
- 35:02He says, what can we do to perform the works of God?
- 35:07They asked. Jesus replied this is the work
- 35:09of God that you believe in the one he has sent.
- 35:14And this is John chapter 6, verse 2829.
- 35:19Yeah, yeah. So that's that's true.
- 35:21So look, look, man, fight because what he just read in
- 35:26James Faith produces that. Yeah, dude, no endurance.
- 35:29You can't run anymore. Bro and endurance be running my
- 35:31whole. Life has its full effect, yes.
- 35:33And when you get there, you will realize that wisdom that you
- 35:35gain. You will lack nothing because
- 35:39his presence is with you. Yeah.
- 35:41So absolutely, absolutely. Also to wrap it up, I know
- 35:44sometimes I get involved with the political stuff, but I just
- 35:46wanted to mention for anybody who could be worried or starts
- 35:51like doesn't know where to go. I know, I know what Trump had
- 35:54just did. You know, he pretty much the
- 35:57Supreme Court is, you know, pretty much validating that the
- 36:03birthright be taken away for illegal grantee years.
- 36:07That's for real. Yeah, starting July 27, and it's
- 36:10the Supreme Court has given 30 days to the blue states wherever
- 36:13they have lawsuits to figure out whatever that means because it
- 36:15is an executive order by federal so.
- 36:19So it'll be federal, but will the states have their own?
- 36:21No, they can't because it's not a state issue, it's a federal
- 36:25issue. So, so I bring this up because
- 36:29you shouldn't worry. You shouldn't let this paper or
- 36:33you know, it's not my fault that I was born here or George and
- 36:38you have means of getting things done in this country.
- 36:41Others don't have that opportunity, right, Right.
- 36:43Don't let that make. Don't let that be your identity.
- 36:46Absolutely, I agree. Whoever.
- 36:47'S listening to this. Absolutely, right.
- 36:49We all have a much greater citizenship, which is in heaven.
- 36:52Yeah, Amen. Much greater than having the US
- 36:54citizenship or whatever, right? Right.
- 36:56That. Don't let that make everything
- 36:58for you. The whole reason for living in
- 37:00this country now, there's so much more to that.
- 37:02Yeah, yeah, yeah, all. Right.
- 37:03So I just wanted to to highlight that whoever was listening,
- 37:08right? No.
- 37:08No, no, it's true, man. No, dude, we just saw him look
- 37:11through that. As much as churches talk about
- 37:14all revival, this revival that look man, we have freedom.
- 37:19Like so much freedom. The truth is that like an
- 37:24awakening is going to come one day.
- 37:26We don't know when maybe our children will experience it,
- 37:28maybe we will experience it. I'm not sure.
- 37:30But we just need to have faith. We really need to just have
- 37:34faith in God because in first John, in first John, I think it
- 37:39was in chapter 5, he says this is how we conquer the world, our
- 37:44faith. And he says God's commandments
- 37:47are not a burden. So just hold on, you know, let
- 37:51suffering have its full effect. You know at the end of the day
- 37:54you will lack nothing. It it says in James 5, I believe
- 37:5813. If you're suffering, pray.
- 38:01If you're sick, call on to the elders and they pray for you.
- 38:04If you're cheerful, prays, right?
- 38:07Yeah. If if you have committed a sin,
- 38:09confess your sins, right? Be accountable to each other.
- 38:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. And pray and he will forget, and
- 38:13you will be forgiven. Absolutely right.
- 38:15Absolutely. So just.
- 38:18You could call this elements of practicing the truth, if you
- 38:21will. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 38:23No, I totally agree, actually. You know what?
- 38:25That's funny. I just flipped right to it.
- 38:26All right, go for it. It says here.
- 38:28I guess we'll wind it up with this, unless anybody else have
- 38:31something else to say. No, you can go for.
- 38:34It no. So remember our brothers and
- 38:36sisters that are listening to our podcast, It says this in
- 38:40first John chapter 5 verse two to four.
- 38:44He says this is how we know that we love God's children when we
- 38:49love God and obey his commands. For this is what love for God is
- 38:55to keep his commands and his commands are not a burden
- 39:00because everyone who has been born of God conquers the world.
- 39:04This is the victory that has conquered the world.
