• 2:41
Speaker 3: Angie gilden Water from the Kannaal Charleston, you main association
• 2:43
Speaker 3: with this week to adopt me please Pet of the Week, Angie,
• 2:47
Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
• 2:49
Speaker 6: Good morning, fun and busy.
• 2:52
Speaker 3: All right, Angie, Angie, Angie. I don't know where you are,
• 2:55
Speaker 3: but we need a better cell phone signal. Goshru All right,
• 3:02
Speaker 3: hold on here, that's a little bit better. Just stand
• 3:05
Speaker 3: still wherever you are, okay, perfect, all right? Where are you?
• 3:08
Speaker 3: By the way, that now it's none of my bun.
• 3:11
Speaker 4: I don't know where you are.
• 3:12
Speaker 3: I know you're getting ready for just okay, well, I
• 3:14
Speaker 3: know you're getting ready for Tuxes and Tails. That's probably
• 3:17
Speaker 3: what I figured that you were doing, right, Oh, absolutely,
• 3:22
Speaker 3: talk about your detail?
• 3:23
Speaker 6: Are so? Tuxes and Tails is tomorrow six pm at
• 3:27
Speaker 6: the Russner. We're super excited for the new location at
• 3:30
Speaker 6: the Roustner and it is completely sold out, which is
• 3:33
  Speaker 6: super exciting.
• 3:35
Speaker 3: And when you say sold out, I mean, how how
• 3:36
Speaker 3: much does it take to sell this thing out? I
• 3:38
Speaker 3: mean give me a give me a body count approximately,
• 3:42
  Speaker 3: So thanks.
• 3:42
Speaker 6: The capacity for the Rustler is about one hundred hundred
• 3:46
Speaker 6: and fifty people, so we're somewhere in that seat spot.
• 3:48
Speaker 3: All right. That's good stuff to hear right there, And
• 3:50
Speaker 3: of course all the money raised will benefit to the shelter.
• 3:53
Speaker 3: Is there a waiting list or anything like that? If
• 3:55
Speaker 3: people would like to, you know, give you a call
• 3:57
Speaker 3: on some sayings and somebody can't make it, I'd like
• 3:59
Speaker 3: to be there or they just as I'll clean it
• 4:01
Speaker 3: up a little bit, are they just sol Yeah?
• 4:05
Speaker 6: Kind of that. We do need some volunteers for you know,
• 4:09
Speaker 6: taking down tuxes and tails once it's over with. If
• 4:12
Speaker 6: you're interested in just seeing, you know what it would
• 4:14
Speaker 6: look like. But that is about all we have left.
• 4:17
Speaker 3: Okay, all right, so you already need of volunteers. We
• 4:21
Speaker 3: had a text here somebody wanted to know if you
• 4:24
Speaker 3: guys are gonna have shelter dogs and cats out at
• 4:26
Speaker 3: the grand opening of the Fun Factory tomorrow, And I
• 4:29
Speaker 3: was going to talk about the fun factor a little
• 4:31
Speaker 3: bit later on. That's the former Kidderouse and they're having
• 4:33
Speaker 3: a big grand opening celebration tomorrow. Our stations are going
• 4:35
Speaker 3: to be there broadcasting live all day tomorrow. We'd actually
• 4:39
Speaker 3: scheduled to have them on the show this morning, but
• 4:41
Speaker 3: much like you, Angie, they've got so much going on.
• 4:43
Speaker 3: They gave us a call yesterday and said, we're not
• 4:45
Speaker 3: gonna be able to make the live interview. Just tell
• 4:48
Speaker 3: people about it. It's going on all day. I would
• 4:51
Speaker 3: imagine that'd be kind of difficult though, for you to
• 4:53
Speaker 3: have animals out there plus pull off tuxes and tails
• 4:55
  Speaker 3: tomorrow night.
• 4:56
Speaker 6: Right correct, I'm going to be virtually unreachable tomorrow for
• 5:01
  Speaker 6: Texas two.
• 5:02
Speaker 3: I'm just glad we got you today, but you guys
• 5:04
Speaker 3: will be out of about. That's a good idea by
• 5:06
Speaker 3: the texture, but you just not on the night of
• 5:07
Speaker 3: tuxas and tails not happening. But you guys will be
• 5:11
Speaker 3: out at about all summer long and various activities in
• 5:13
Speaker 3: Charleston and the surrounding area. So we'll be sure and
• 5:16
Speaker 3: let people know. We'll get back to tuxes and tails
• 5:18
Speaker 3: in a moment. Let's get to our adopt me please.
• 5:20
Speaker 3: Put of the week is always picture posted Dave Allen
• 5:22
Speaker 3: Radio and Facebook, and that Dave a seventy on X
• 5:25
Speaker 3: interesting name. Cloud Strife is the is the and it's
• 5:30
Speaker 3: a cat. It's a kiddy cat. Uh where does every week?
• 5:34
Speaker 3: Ryan has to educate me on some of these names.
• 5:36
Speaker 3: And he's putting the headphones on right now, so he'll
• 5:39
Speaker 3: probably be able to tell me what cloud Strife is.
• 5:41
Speaker 3: We'll get to that in a moment, but tell us
• 5:42
  Speaker 3: about cloud Strife.
• 5:44
Speaker 6: So cloud Strife, once you see him, you'll see that
• 5:47
Speaker 6: that's the perfect name for him. The poor guy came
• 5:50
Speaker 6: in to our shelter with trauma to his back leg.
• 5:53
Speaker 6: We're thinking that it was possibly hit by car, much
• 5:56
Speaker 6: like Webkin from last week, but the trauma to Cloudstrive's
• 6:01
Speaker 6: flag was so bad we did have to amputate it. Hey,
• 6:05
Speaker 6: he he doesn't seem too upset by that. He's very
• 6:07
Speaker 6: forgiving about everything that's happened to him thus far. He's
• 6:11
Speaker 6: a very sweet boy that loves, you know, head scratches,
• 6:14
Speaker 6: all the things that cat loves. And he's still so young.
• 6:18
Speaker 6: He's only seven months old, so to have all of
• 6:20
Speaker 6: that happen to him in such a short amount of
• 6:23
Speaker 6: time in his life as devastating. But like I said,
• 6:26
Speaker 6: he's pretty forgiving about.
• 6:28
Speaker 3: It, all right, Ryan, you can expect to me what
• 6:30
Speaker 3: Cloudstrife is. Cloudstrife is the name of the main protagonist
• 6:34
Speaker 3: from the video game Final Fantasy seven. His hobbies include
• 6:38
Speaker 3: snowboarding and writing chocobos.
• 6:40
  Speaker 4: Thank you.
• 6:42
Speaker 3: That's see. He's not just a handsome young fellow. He's practical.
• 6:46
Speaker 3: He's good to have around two. So I learned something
• 6:50
Speaker 3: every week when I when I talk to you people
• 6:52
Speaker 3: that are much younger than I am.
• 6:53
  Speaker 4: How's that.
• 6:56
Speaker 3: All right? Cloud Strife is the animal's name. Again. He
• 6:59
Speaker 3: had his back leg amputated after being hit by a car.
• 7:01
Speaker 3: Doesn't slow him down one bit. Seven months old, neutered,
• 7:05
Speaker 3: and all his vaccines of to day that would make
• 7:06
Speaker 3: an absolutely beautiful pet for somebody, would it not.
• 7:09
Speaker 6: Absolutely? He And when I walked in and saw him
• 7:12
Speaker 6: and his kennel, I literally went, oh, my gosh, he
• 7:15
Speaker 6: is a cute. So yeah, he is a very very
• 7:19
Speaker 6: cute boy and very sweet boy.
• 7:21
Speaker 3: All right, So I'm going to get to some numbers
• 7:23
Speaker 3: here for a moment. I know there was a big
• 7:25
Speaker 3: front page story in the Gazette Mail yesterday about some
• 7:27
Speaker 3: of the issues going on at the shelter far as
• 7:30
Speaker 3: numbers go. I know, a couple of the TV stations
• 7:32
Speaker 3: I think did stories. You've been hitting the media hard,
• 7:33
Speaker 3: which you should. You're at a critical critical point right now.
• 7:39
Speaker 3: As far as the critters that you have at the shelter, right.
• 7:43
Speaker 6: Absolutely, which I know it's kind of like a broken
• 7:45
Speaker 6: record at this point us saying we're full, we're for warful.
• 7:48
Speaker 6: But yesterday when we left, I looked at the numbers
• 7:50
Speaker 6: and we have literally four hundred and seventy some animals
• 7:54
Speaker 6: in our care, which is the highest I've seen that number.
• 7:58
Speaker 3: So I mean, obviously we want to do some things
• 8:00
Speaker 3: to try to get some of these animals adopted. I
• 8:03
Speaker 3: know you're doing all kinds of things as far as
• 8:05
Speaker 3: you know, as you says, I said, you've been really
• 8:06
Speaker 3: hitting the media doing radio, television interviews, newspaper interviews and whatnot.
• 8:11
Speaker 3: But the bottom line is, now, if you're airing the
• 8:14
Speaker 3: market for a PET, I mean you know, it's almost
• 8:16
Speaker 3: like it's almost like with a car deal, you know,
• 8:18
Speaker 3: car deal, and you're like make them an offer right now, right, absolutely.
• 8:22
Speaker 6: So we do have a special going on from May
• 8:24
Speaker 6: first to May fifteenth where everybody in our building is
• 8:28
Speaker 6: just twenty dollars to adopt and that's thanks to Bisintal
• 8:31
Speaker 6: Pet Foundations empty the Shelter National Adoption Event. So twenty
• 8:35
Speaker 6: dollars fees. So come on in here.
• 8:38
Speaker 3: Get in here and dyvidave valence showing five anyone brought
• 8:41
Speaker 3: to you apart by snap Fitness, offering a wide array
• 8:43
Speaker 3: of professional wellness services including customized personal training, licensed recovery experts,
• 8:48
Speaker 3: and staff of dietitians, five convenient locations to Charleston, Hurricane, Winfield, Barbersville,
• 8:52
Speaker 3: and Milton. Visitsnapfitness dot com if you need more information
• 8:56
Speaker 3: about that. Any big intakes this week. I know last
• 8:59
Speaker 3: week you told us this story about the gentleman that
• 9:01
Speaker 3: was on a construction site and found a palette full
• 9:03
Speaker 3: of kiddies. Uh so in any big, any big hauls
• 9:07
  Speaker 3: this week.
• 9:09
Speaker 6: So we did receive six sogs and one cat from
• 9:13
Speaker 6: a gentleman who had passed away, who was well loved
• 9:15
Speaker 6: in the community. We received his pets for waiting on
• 9:18
Speaker 6: family to come up and you know, reclaim if they can.
• 9:21
Speaker 6: If not, we will be those guys will be made
• 9:24
Speaker 6: available for an option. But other than that, it's just
• 9:27
Speaker 6: been you know, our humane officers bringing things in, members
• 9:30
Speaker 6: of the public bringing in injured animals one by one,
• 9:33
Speaker 6: but one by one adds up.
• 9:35
Speaker 3: When it happens a lot, one by one becomes five
• 9:38
Speaker 3: by five before before you know what hits you right,
• 9:41
Speaker 3: all right, We had a couple of texts here. One
• 9:44
Speaker 3: said this person was asking about getting you guys out
• 9:46
Speaker 3: in the community. They just wanted to suggest to you
• 9:48
Speaker 3: maybe next week, once you've recovered from Texas and tail
• 9:51
Speaker 3: Texas nails, the community yard sales are going to be
• 9:54
Speaker 3: going on East End yard Sale, Dunbar, Nitro, etcetera, all
• 9:57
Speaker 3: those communities, so maybe you can hit up one of
• 9:59
Speaker 3: those all So they asked, would it be possible for
• 10:01
Speaker 3: Knawk County to donate one of those portable classrooms like
• 10:05
Speaker 3: they had used at Hoover. You know, it's just an idea.
• 10:11
Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely, and listen, we are completely open to ideas.
• 10:15
Speaker 6: So I will run that up the ladder where it
• 10:17
Speaker 6: needs to go and see if that's a possibility. And
• 10:20
Speaker 6: as far as you know, offsite events where I can
• 10:23
Speaker 6: just show up and bring some puppies. If you want
• 10:25
Speaker 6: to email me Angie at atf Charleston dot com you
• 10:28
Speaker 6: want me there, I will be.
• 10:29
Speaker 3: There, but don't expect an answer until at least next
• 10:33
  Speaker 3: Monday or Tuesday.
• 10:33
Speaker 6: Right, correct, Right, Well he's not at the end of tomorrow.
• 10:38
Speaker 3: All right, Well we'll give you on Monday or Tuesday.
• 10:40
  Speaker 3: How's that?
• 10:40
  Speaker 7: All right?
• 10:41
Speaker 3: Let's talk quickly about Texas and Tales again. The event
• 10:43
Speaker 3: is tomorrow night, big Dirty Derby theme. It is completely
• 10:47
Speaker 3: sold out. But you said at the beginning of the
• 10:49
Speaker 3: ind of you, Angie, that you could use some volunteers.
• 10:52
Speaker 3: So if people would like to come and just help
• 10:54
Speaker 3: with the whole thing, the shelter folks would love it.
• 10:57
Speaker 3: Best way to get a hold of you, Angie.
• 10:59
Speaker 6: So you're gonna want to contact our volunteer coordinator, which
• 11:03
Speaker 6: is his name is Sess he's great and his email
• 11:06
  Speaker 6: is s m U L L I M S at
• 11:09
Speaker 6: Adult Charleston dot com.
• 11:10
Speaker 3: All right, Angie, will let you go, and I'm interested
• 11:13
Speaker 3: to find out and see how things go tomorrow night.
• 11:16
Speaker 3: So we'll talk to you again next week. Best of
• 11:18
Speaker 3: luck with everything tomorrow.
• 11:19
Speaker 4: Thanks a lot, thank you.
• 11:21
Speaker 6: I have a good one you as.
• 11:22
Speaker 3: Well, Angie Gillawater from the Cannaal Charleston, you main association
• 11:24
Speaker 3: with this week's Adopt Me Please Pedal the Week course.
• 11:27
Speaker 3: I wanted to spend a little bit more time talking
• 11:28
Speaker 3: about their their signature event, their big event tomorrow night
• 11:31
Speaker 3: at the Roughner. It is tuxes and tales completely sold out.
• 11:35
Speaker 3: That is good news, but they do need volunteers to
• 11:39
Speaker 3: contact the folks at the shelters. You'd like to help
• 11:40
Speaker 3: with anything, They certainly could use you as for our
• 11:43
Speaker 3: Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week picture posted Dave
• 11:46
Speaker 3: aland Radio on Facebook and at dave A seventy on
• 11:48
Speaker 3: X cloud strife thanks to Ryan Nicholson. We now know
• 11:51
Speaker 3: what cloud strife is. Maybe everybody in the world knew
• 11:54
Speaker 3: it except for me, but cloud strife is our kittens
• 11:59
Speaker 3: name this week. Calling mckitton seven months old. He is
• 12:02
Speaker 3: neutered and all the vaccines are up to date. He's
• 12:05
Speaker 3: a three legged critter because he was hit by a car,
• 12:10
Speaker 3: so he had to have one of his back legs amputated.
• 12:12
Speaker 3: He is an absolutely beautiful white cat. If you like
• 12:16
Speaker 3: the white cats, if you like a cat with good stories,
• 12:18
Speaker 3: and you want to be a good human being, go
• 12:20
Speaker 3: adopt this cat. Contact the folks at the shelter and
• 12:23
Speaker 3: again I've got pictures posted Dave Allen Radio on Facebook
• 12:26
Speaker 3: and at Dave A seventy on x for cloud strife.

Speaker 3: camping trip you may think it is. He's going to
• 13:12
Speaker 3: camp out in a ballpark. A little bit crazy, but
• 13:15
Speaker 3: that's what we do here in radio Land. We are

• 15:17
Speaker 3: night for your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds.
• 15:21
Speaker 3: Andy sh Joe Garon will start with you. Welcome to
• 15:24
Speaker 3: the show, appreciate it.
• 15:25
Speaker 4: Pumped to be here, pumps to get rolling this year.
• 15:27
Speaker 3: It's that time. It's that time again.
• 15:29
Speaker 4: It is it is.
• 15:30
Speaker 11: I mean, just the energy, the excitement, the opportunity, I mean,
• 15:34
Speaker 11: everything coming together for opening day. I mean, the stadium
• 15:38
Speaker 11: looks better than ever. This team is just gonna be
• 15:40
Speaker 11: absolutely terrific. And I mean just you know, again, I
• 15:43
Speaker 11: can't say it enough. The energy is just amazing around
• 15:47
  Speaker 11: the entire ballpark.
• 15:48
Speaker 3: Right, and but we can't fingers crossed on the weather, right,
• 15:52
  Speaker 3: It's always good fingers it's.
• 15:55
Speaker 11: Opening day in the thing, you know, in all seriousness,
• 15:56
Speaker 11: we have artificial turf. I mean that's such a massive
• 16:00
Speaker 11: game changer sort of comes to the weather that I mean,
• 16:03
Speaker 11: unless it is pouring at the exact wrong time, which
• 16:06
Speaker 11: I'm not saying, you know, it's could happen. But last
• 16:10
Speaker 11: year we had zero rainouts.
• 16:11
  Speaker 4: I mean it's amazing.
• 16:12
Speaker 11: We certainly had delays and all that stuff, but we
• 16:14
Speaker 11: had zero rainouts last year. So I mean, heck, in
• 16:18
Speaker 11: the championship game was ridiculous really, but I mean we
• 16:20
Speaker 11: kept playing, like, you know, we can talk about that
• 16:25
Speaker 11: another day, you know, if we wanted to. But like anyways,
• 16:28
Speaker 11: I mean, it really is a game changer, and it
• 16:30
Speaker 11: just makes it a completely different, you know situation.
• 16:33
Speaker 3: Really, jailm said that microphone over to you there, just lett.
• 16:37
Speaker 3: It's one of the great things about our studio is
• 16:39
Speaker 3: you don't hear when you moved the microphones on the
• 16:41
Speaker 3: new one anyway, So a lot of work you and
• 16:45
Speaker 3: not talk you know, constantly throughout the off season, and
• 16:49
Speaker 3: it all comes down to this.
• 16:50
Speaker 7: It is. It's it's very much so what we work towards.
• 16:53
Speaker 7: Basically as soon as season ends up until right now,
• 16:56
Speaker 7: we are working towards making this a really really fun
• 16:59
Speaker 7: experience with the fans. That's what Andy and I are
• 17:01
Speaker 7: working on. The entire front office staff is working on,
• 17:04
Speaker 7: and of course PJ. Phillis and sip of Garza who
• 17:06
Speaker 7: are coaching staff here today, they are working on building
• 17:08
Speaker 7: the team to have another championship season.
• 17:10
Speaker 3: All right, PJ, welcome back, man, it's that time again, right.
• 17:13
Speaker 4: I'm very excited to be here.
• 17:14
  Speaker 2: Man.
• 17:14
Speaker 3: I appreciates Yeah, uh and uh, I mean you've been
• 17:17
Speaker 3: You've been around baseball for a long time. Not that
• 17:20
  Speaker 3: you're old. I'm just saying you've been around. You've been
• 17:22
Speaker 3: around baseball for a long time. There's nothing like opening Day.
• 17:25
Speaker 3: Even as a fan, there's nothing like Opening Day. But
• 17:28
Speaker 3: I mean especially as a player now as a coach,
• 17:31
Speaker 3: as manager, and nothing like it. Buddy.
• 17:34
Speaker 12: You just know the fans gonna be able to support,
• 17:36
Speaker 12: you know, you know it's gonna be a pat house.
• 17:38
Speaker 12: All the guys gonna be you know, a little nervous,
• 17:40
Speaker 12: you know, getting the blood flowing.
• 17:41
  Speaker 4: And uh.
• 17:42
Speaker 12: Man, Like I said, the team's gonna be very good
• 17:43
Speaker 12: this year. Were very excited to be backing Charleston.
• 17:46
Speaker 3: Talk about last year. I mean you guys, uh, I
• 17:48
Speaker 3: mean you start every every baseball season where every team
• 17:51
Speaker 3: starts out, you know that everybody's in first place and
• 17:53
Speaker 3: everybody's unblemish record. We're all ready to go. But you guys,
• 17:57
Speaker 3: last season, I mean you you had a one heck
• 18:00
Speaker 3: of a season. He made it to the to the championships.
• 18:03
Speaker 3: I mean, that's pretty good stuff. And it's an easy
• 18:05
Speaker 3: selling point to talk to your players. And we'll get
• 18:08
Speaker 3: into the players a little bit later on and the
• 18:09
Speaker 3: fans to say, look what we did last year, you know,
• 18:12
Speaker 3: let's try it again this year.
• 18:14
Speaker 12: Yes, you definitely want to build off of last year.
• 18:16
Speaker 12: We definitely had a really good squad. We had a
• 18:19
Speaker 12: lot of dudes get signed.
• 18:20
  Speaker 4: Last year.
• 18:21
Speaker 12: We had like I think ten and we still you know,
• 18:23
Speaker 12: got to the championship game. That's that's very hard to
• 18:26
  Speaker 12: do independent baseball.
• 18:27
Speaker 3: Right, I'll let you introduce this gentleman here. I think
• 18:30
Speaker 3: you know something about it.
• 18:31
Speaker 7: So we got Sip guards that he's our pitching coach
• 18:33
Speaker 7: and all of the above. He's the person I'm always
• 18:35
Speaker 7: texting last minute when I need players for things, so
• 18:37
Speaker 7: I appreciate him. But yeah, Sip was with PJ last
• 18:40
Speaker 7: year as our bench coach and third base coach, and
• 18:43
Speaker 7: now he's the pitching coach this year.
• 18:44
Speaker 3: All right, welcome to the studio. This is your first
• 18:46
Speaker 3: time on the show. I think it is. Appreciate it,
• 18:48
Speaker 3: glad to be here. All right, what's my opening day
• 18:49
  Speaker 3: mean to you?
• 18:50
Speaker 13: Like PJ kind of described, it's definitely very exciting. You know,
• 18:53
Speaker 13: it's a fresh start for the season. Everyone's you know,
• 18:56
Speaker 13: enthusiastic and optimistic about their you know, the performance and
• 19:00
Speaker 13: now look for the whole year. So we're definitely excited.
• 19:02
Speaker 13: I know the fans are going to be happy for
• 19:04
  Speaker 13: it too.
• 19:05
Speaker 3: Let's talk to Jill. I'll defer to you or Andy
• 19:07
Speaker 3: maybe in this. Let's talk about the lineup this year,
• 19:08
Speaker 3: because you've got you got some players with some big
• 19:11
Speaker 3: league experience this year.
• 19:13
Speaker 7: Yeah, I think there's four or five of the big
• 19:14
Speaker 7: league experience, specifically our I believe he is starting tonight,
• 19:18
Speaker 7: Kiva Sampson. He was with the squad last year as well,
• 19:21
Speaker 7: and I'm excited to see what he's done. He did
• 19:24
Speaker 7: not get the win in his last starks. Remember this
• 19:26
Speaker 7: is opening day here in Charleston, but the boy's been
• 19:28
Speaker 7: playing for six games, so they're they're fresh, they're ready
• 19:30
Speaker 7: to go. He is not only an amazing player, but
• 19:33
Speaker 7: he has been a really amazing person in the community
• 19:36
Speaker 7: as well. For our scrimmage during the Grand Slame School Day.
• 19:39
Speaker 7: Hopefully he doesn't mind that I say this, but he
• 19:40
Speaker 7: bought about fifty kids dippin' dots. He was walking around
• 19:43
Speaker 7: the stands and he bought some fanso and dippin' dots.
• 19:46
Speaker 7: So he's been an amazing piece to this puzzle.
• 19:48
Speaker 3: And you nobody bought you dippin' dots, don't he I
• 19:51
  Speaker 3: don't need any.
• 19:52
  Speaker 4: I don't need any.
• 19:52
Speaker 11: Like I'm thankful that I don't have too much of
• 19:55
Speaker 11: a sweet tooth, at least during the day.
• 19:56
  Speaker 4: Otherwise.
• 19:57
Speaker 11: Yeah, with the ballpark food, because that's something that I've
• 20:00
Speaker 11: think we've you know, ballpark food. Hot Dogs taste better
• 20:03
Speaker 11: at the ballpark. That's just beers taste better, especially when
• 20:08
Speaker 11: you do one dollar beer night, better than But you know,
• 20:12
Speaker 11: I mean we have, We've added some elements, We've improved
• 20:15
Speaker 11: some elements. I mean, I think our concessions. We saw
• 20:17
Speaker 11: it the other night with the WV. Marshall game. I
• 20:20
Speaker 11: mean I think it flowed tremendously as great as could be.
• 20:23
Speaker 11: And you know, we really added some new things to
• 20:26
Speaker 11: add to that off the field environment at the ballpark
• 20:29
  Speaker 11: as well.
• 20:30
Speaker 3: And that's the thing about baseball, and any guys can
• 20:32
  Speaker 3: jump in here. I know you're PJ. You're you're concentrating
• 20:35
Speaker 3: on the on the field thing, but when people go
• 20:37
Speaker 3: out to minor league baseball, even major league baseball parks,
• 20:40
Speaker 3: I mean, it's part of the experience as well, you know,
• 20:43
Speaker 3: the concessions and everything that goes along with it and
• 20:46
Speaker 3: that that makes it a fun environment.
• 20:48
Speaker 4: Oh yes, for sure.
• 20:49
Speaker 12: You know we go to the ballpark, the hot dolls,
• 20:52
Speaker 12: the hamburgers, you know, things like that. Definitely is a
• 20:55
Speaker 12: big part, especially if you've got good food, you know
• 20:56
  Speaker 12: what I mean.
• 20:57
Speaker 4: So it definitely helps.
• 20:58
Speaker 3: Up anything new on the men because you know, I'm
• 21:00
Speaker 3: always concentrating on the food. Is there anything new on
• 21:02
Speaker 3: the menu this year?
• 21:03
  Speaker 2: Oh?
• 21:03
Speaker 11: Absolutely, We've got a handful of awesome new dessert items.
• 21:07
  Speaker 11: I don't know if I know, Mike's son absolutely loved
• 21:10
Speaker 11: the SpongeBob popsicles. I don't know if that'd be up
• 21:12
Speaker 11: your alley, but I mean I think those.
• 21:14
Speaker 3: Are that's more of a SpongeBob popsicles. You've got his attentions.
• 21:19
Speaker 3: That's one of the new things.
• 21:20
Speaker 11: Well, I mean just we've got a whole new dessert
• 21:22
Speaker 11: menu which is really really cool and you know, super fun.
• 21:25
Speaker 11: We've got a handful of new kind of like I
• 21:28
Speaker 11: don't want to say gourmet hot dogs necessarily, but like
• 21:31
Speaker 11: fun mixes, and I mean it just it was funny
• 21:34
Speaker 11: when we had him out there the other day, like
• 21:36
Speaker 11: it that took some serious self control to just not
• 21:39
Speaker 11: step away from everyone start eating all the hot dogs
• 21:41
Speaker 11: that were in front of everyone. But uh, yeah, no,
• 21:44
  Speaker 11: I think we've got a handful of that. We've got
• 21:45
Speaker 11: a handful of new We've got a brand new bar
• 21:48
Speaker 11: at the stadium so for for different drinks and beers.
• 21:53
Speaker 11: A lot of new stuff, a lot of cool stuff,
• 21:55
Speaker 11: and you know, like I keep saying, a lot of
• 21:56
Speaker 11: improved stuff as well.
• 21:58
Speaker 3: Talk about let's go back a couple nights of that
• 22:00
Speaker 3: WVU Marshall game. I mean, what an electric atmosphere that
• 22:06
Speaker 3: that was a Gomart ballpark. I mean, you know, it's
• 22:09
Speaker 3: always great when those two teams play each other in
• 22:11
Speaker 3: West Virginia. Won the first two one in Morgantown, won
• 22:14
Speaker 3: a dramatic fashion with the steel of home in Huntington.
• 22:17
Speaker 3: Then they come to the ballpark the other night and
• 22:19
Speaker 3: walk it off Marshall wins that game.
• 22:22
Speaker 11: Just just a great night at the ballpark the other night.
• 22:24
Speaker 11: Oh it was electric. I mean it was absolutely awesome.
• 22:26
Speaker 11: But I think it also, you know, kind of shows
• 22:28
Speaker 11: how passionate the community is for baseball and really and
• 22:33
Speaker 11: truly for their own I mean we saw that last
• 22:35
Speaker 11: year too, where you know, I certainly don't have numbers
• 22:38
Speaker 11: I guess, but like just after being in this industry
• 22:40
Speaker 11: for over twenty one for twenty years now.
• 22:43
Speaker 4: No one travels as good as we do.
• 22:45
Speaker 11: I mean, when we played those playoff games in Gastonia,
• 22:48
Speaker 11: that might as well have been a Dirty Birds home game,
• 22:50
Speaker 11: that was awesome. When we went to York, traveling through
• 22:53
Speaker 11: a literal hurricane to get there, I mean, we had
• 22:57
Speaker 11: an entire section that you could hear from everywhere in
• 23:00
Speaker 11: the stadium. So I mean, I think that our community
• 23:03
Speaker 11: is just as if not more passionate as everyone when
• 23:06
Speaker 11: it comes to baseball, but then also really really supporting
• 23:10
  Speaker 11: their team.
• 23:11
Speaker 3: We had a text here somebody asked if that WVU
• 23:14
Speaker 3: Marshall was the biggest baseball crowd ever there, and he says.
• 23:19
Speaker 11: I know it was certainly the as far as I know,
• 23:21
Speaker 11: is the biggest WV. Marshall crowd period for baseball, whether
• 23:24
Speaker 11: it's at our stadium or anywhere for that matter, for baseball.
• 23:29
Speaker 11: We might have to ask some of the historians. There's
• 23:31
Speaker 11: a little, uh, there's a little clash on something that
• 23:35
Speaker 11: was like twenty years ago, whether it did or did
• 23:37
Speaker 11: not happen. So uh, I guess it depends who you
• 23:41
Speaker 11: ask on that one.
• 23:42
Speaker 3: Where's the toast man? I bet he would know, all right, Blackstone,
• 23:45
  Speaker 3: if you're.
• 23:45
Speaker 4: But he used to.
• 23:46
Speaker 11: I mean he knows how to play both sides. I
• 23:48
Speaker 11: mean he knows how to be wishy washy so that
• 23:50
Speaker 11: he's not disagreeing, but he's not agreeing with anyone.
• 23:52
Speaker 4: So you trust me. I've asked, and that's why I
• 23:54
Speaker 4: still I still don't have a real answer for you.
• 23:56
Speaker 3: He was around politics for a while, would expect he's
• 24:00
Speaker 3: good at that. That's what they do, pizza. Let me
• 24:02
Speaker 3: ask you, you know, opening up on the road as
• 24:06
Speaker 3: you did, and you know, and it varies every year.
• 24:08
Speaker 3: Sometimes you're at home, sometimes run the road. You open
• 24:10
Speaker 3: up on the road. For how many games did you
• 24:11
Speaker 3: play on the road? It was the six six games
• 24:13
Speaker 3: on the road and the old country song since six
• 24:15
Speaker 3: days on the road, and I'm gonna make it home tonight.
• 24:17
Speaker 3: So talk about opening up at a home versus opening
• 24:21
Speaker 3: up on the road. Uh, you get that feeling, you
• 24:24
Speaker 3: know maybe if we could just get home, you know
• 24:27
Speaker 3: that that'll bring a lot more excitement.
• 24:29
  Speaker 9: Uh.
• 24:30
Speaker 3: And for the players.
• 24:31
Speaker 12: Yeah, for me, Uh, when you open up on the road,
• 24:34
Speaker 12: my motto is you at least want to start the
• 24:36
Speaker 12: season at five hundred. We go on the road, so
• 24:40
Speaker 12: you know, you wanna split the series whichever way you can.
• 24:42
Speaker 12: And when you come back home, you're going you saying
• 24:44
Speaker 12: you're going the big run and uh by us coming
• 24:47
Speaker 12: back today. Yeah, indeed, I feel like we're gonna have
• 24:50
Speaker 12: a good team game home streets. We're gonna win a
• 24:53
  Speaker 12: lot of games.
• 24:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, and we certainly hope.
• 24:55
  Speaker 4: So.
• 24:55
Speaker 3: Dave Allen showing five Eddie Line brought to you part
• 24:57
Speaker 3: by Husbands Pizza. Get yourself a large eighteen inch Pepperoni
• 24:59
Speaker 3: pizza and order of cinema by twenty ninety nine eat
• 25:02
Speaker 3: and pick up or get delivery by going to Hustin's
• 25:04
Speaker 3: Pizza dot com jail. As somebody who handles a lot
• 25:06
Speaker 3: of the marketing, I mean well, I mean you do
• 25:08
Speaker 3: a little bit of everything there with the Dirty Birds,
• 25:11
Speaker 3: but somebody that is in the marketing talk about the
• 25:13
Speaker 3: off season, I mean especially you know the winter we had,
• 25:16
Speaker 3: it was a one for the ages, and I know
• 25:19
Speaker 3: for somewhere around January twentieth, you know, I'm sitting there
• 25:23
Speaker 3: with snow and ice on the ground. Thank you, man,
• 25:25
Speaker 3: I just wish I were at the ballpark right now
• 25:27
Speaker 3: and I know a lot of people kind of feel
• 25:29
Speaker 3: that way. But talking about the off season marketing that
• 25:32
Speaker 3: you guys have done to put a lot of work
• 25:33
Speaker 3: into this twenty twenty five.
• 25:35
Speaker 7: Season, right, So this is my eighth Opening Day, and
• 25:39
Speaker 7: this one's a little bit different in terms of the
• 25:41
Speaker 7: off season plannings. This is my first time that I
• 25:43
Speaker 7: was also working somewhere that had something as big as
• 25:45
Speaker 7: Light the Night, So it was kind of we had
• 25:47
Speaker 7: to div you up our marketing where we still need
• 25:49
Speaker 7: to have a lot of focus on Light the Night,
• 25:51
Speaker 7: but we can't forget about baseball because that's such a beast.
• 25:53
Speaker 7: It's a six month project, so a lot of the
• 25:56
Speaker 7: marketing we are partnering with Whitney Hunt, who is fantastic.
• 26:00
Speaker 7: A lot of the marketing is focusing on why is
• 26:03
Speaker 7: every single game important? Because again it's a six month
• 26:06
Speaker 7: period and we want people to feel like they need
• 26:09
Speaker 7: to be there for as many games as possible, not
• 26:11
Speaker 7: just Opening Day, not just opening weekends, but the entire season.
• 26:14
Speaker 7: So it's trying to get different promotions together, whether it's
• 26:17
Speaker 7: discounted tickets, discounted food, but also just really big community
• 26:20
Speaker 7: events like our African American Heritage Night, like Pride Night,
• 26:24
Speaker 7: like strikeout Cancer. So it's just really trying to find
• 26:27
Speaker 7: something that every single person in this community can relate to.
• 26:30
Speaker 3: And that's a big part of it. And PG, I
• 26:32
Speaker 3: know you get and you guys and you can weigh
• 26:34
Speaker 3: in on this as well. Everybody loves opening Day, whether
• 26:37
Speaker 3: it's Majors, whether it's everybody loves opening Day, but they
• 26:40
Speaker 3: the fans are needed in June seventeenth, you know, on
• 26:45
Speaker 3: just things where you have nothing going on and talk
• 26:48
Speaker 3: talk about getting that momentum and how important it is
• 26:50
Speaker 3: to get those fans back out there at times other
• 26:52
Speaker 3: than just opening Day.
• 26:53
Speaker 13: No, definitely, I think that that's the unique and cool
• 26:57
Speaker 13: part of independent baseball is that you can have a
• 26:59
Speaker 13: lot more relations with the fans through grassrooms, community. You know,
• 27:03
Speaker 13: you can really build that type of relationship. So you
• 27:06
Speaker 13: don't just expect people to be there opening Day when
• 27:08
Speaker 13: everyone's excited, but you know you're excited to see them
• 27:11
Speaker 13: later on throughout the year as well.
• 27:12
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's a big part of it. And you guys,
• 27:14
Speaker 3: I want to talk about community engagement for a moment.
• 27:16
Speaker 3: You mentioned the Light to Night, the sel Angle, All
• 27:19
Speaker 3: Light the Night just unbelievable. Had a lot of work
• 27:22
Speaker 3: to do to pull to top last year's Well let's
• 27:25
Speaker 3: you worry about that at a later time. But talk
• 27:27
Speaker 3: about Andy, the the importance of these players, these coaches,
• 27:31
Speaker 3: Jill and everybody yourself being involved in the community.
• 27:35
Speaker 4: Oh, it's absolutely monumental.
• 27:36
Speaker 11: And whether it is events or whether it's things outside
• 27:39
Speaker 11: of the ballpark, I.
• 27:40
Speaker 4: Mean it all ties together.
• 27:42
Speaker 11: When we had over one hundred thousand people come through
• 27:44
Speaker 11: the ballpark for light to night, you know, the a
• 27:47
Speaker 11: one goal and ideas, and the assumption is that plenty
• 27:50
Speaker 11: of them had maybe not been to a baseball game before.
• 27:52
Speaker 11: But then when they see how beautiful the stadium is,
• 27:54
Speaker 11: when they see how easy it is to get there,
• 27:56
Speaker 11: and when they have an amazing time, they're thinking, oh
• 27:59
Speaker 11: my gosh, we got to come back and check out
• 28:01
Speaker 11: this baseball game. So I mean, it really does all
• 28:03
Speaker 11: go together and is marketing its own right. I Mean,
• 28:06
Speaker 11: the thing that's awesome about this whole entire company really
• 28:10
Speaker 11: is that, I mean, we haven't had a regular season
• 28:13
Speaker 11: Dirty Birds game yet and I don't know the exact number,
• 28:16
Speaker 11: but we had to have had way over thirty thousand
• 28:18
Speaker 11: people at the ballpark. Just in the last month or so,
• 28:21
Speaker 11: I mean between college games, we had an amazing Cares
• 28:24
Speaker 11: event that these guys and the players were with and
• 28:27
Speaker 11: helping with. Heck, whether it was my son or you know,
• 28:30
Speaker 11: other kids that were at the event. We had an
• 28:32
Speaker 11: exhibition game, We had the home run derby. We had
• 28:35
Speaker 11: a Mountaineer Little League Dirty Day where we had seventeen
• 28:38
Speaker 11: games in one day. So, I mean, all of that
• 28:41
Speaker 11: stuff goes together and just how we can be a
• 28:44
Speaker 11: part of the community and make it accessible for everyone.
• 28:46
Speaker 3: And this is the twentieth anniversary of that ballpark. It's
• 28:49
Speaker 3: hard to believe that the ballpark's been around for twenty years.
• 28:53
Speaker 3: I mean I drove by it the other day. I'm
• 28:54
Speaker 3: on way home from work, and I know the season
• 28:56
Speaker 3: has not started, and I see cars everyone like what
• 28:58
Speaker 3: are they doing now? It's so much more become you
• 29:00
Speaker 3: mentioned light the night, but even more than that, it's
• 29:02
Speaker 3: become so much more than just baseball having that park
• 29:07
Speaker 3: there and what a big part of the community.
• 29:09
Speaker 11: But it's become oh absolutely, and that's our goal all
• 29:11
Speaker 11: the time. I Mean, my mind is always spinning. And
• 29:14
Speaker 11: as I kind of mentioned earlier, when you have the
• 29:16
Speaker 11: artificial turf field, it opens up a massive amount of
• 29:20
Speaker 11: opportunities and ideas. So I mean, I want you know,
• 29:23
Speaker 11: we did the Mountaineer Little League Dirty Day there where it.
• 29:26
Speaker 4: Was from nine am to nine pm.
• 29:27
Speaker 11: We played seventeen games, and it was one of those
• 29:31
Speaker 11: things where it was like, I think we can do
• 29:33
Speaker 11: this pretty often and if we had regular if we
• 29:36
Speaker 11: had natural grass, we couldn't even I don't know if
• 29:39
Speaker 11: these guys would have been too pumped with me about
• 29:41
Speaker 11: having seventeen games on our field five days before our
• 29:44
Speaker 11: opening day, but you know the.
• 29:47
Speaker 3: PJA, Yeah, I don't know, man, I'm glad we got
• 29:50
  Speaker 3: t Yeah.
• 29:51
Speaker 11: With the turf, you won't notice exactly. I know, if
• 29:54
Speaker 11: we didn't know the pictures, I mean, you wouldn't really
• 29:56
Speaker 11: even notice. That's how amazing it is. So you know,
• 29:58
Speaker 11: that is something we always strive to do, is just
• 30:00
Speaker 11: make it as accessible as possible and make it for
• 30:03
Speaker 11: every single person. And then heck, yes, it is always
• 30:05
Speaker 11: first and foremost a baseball stadium, but you know, being
• 30:09
Speaker 11: able to utilize it for nonprofit events, for concerts, for
• 30:13
Speaker 11: light the night, you know that all ties together and
• 30:16
Speaker 11: just really and truly raises the profile of the baseball team.
• 30:20
Speaker 3: We had a text here speaking of off the field,
• 30:23
Speaker 3: and this texture has texted this before. I've said it before.
• 30:26
Speaker 3: Out of all the concerts that have come to Charleston,
• 30:28
Speaker 3: nothing will ever top the two thousand and five Def
• 30:30
Speaker 3: Leppard and Brian Adams show at the Ballpark. A great
• 30:32
Speaker 3: multi use event. Again, I ask in late August early September,
• 30:35
Speaker 3: would you see about airing WVU football games on the
• 30:38
Speaker 3: jumbo trod, open the concession stands and kids area, make
• 30:41
Speaker 3: it a giant tailgate party. It happened several years ago
• 30:44
Speaker 3: and it was so much fun.
• 30:45
Speaker 4: Why wouldn't we? Yeah, that's pretty fun. That's sweet.
• 30:48
Speaker 11: Yeah, seriously now yeah, all right, check now it sounds
• 30:52
  Speaker 11: absolutely awesome.
• 30:53
Speaker 4: Ye, I think something like that.
• 30:53
Speaker 11: And that's where, you know, just utilizing it as a
• 30:56
Speaker 11: community event. I mean that ties and checks a lot
• 30:59
Speaker 11: of bocks, so by all means, that would be a blast.
• 31:01
Speaker 3: Yeah. One thing that you run into sometimes with this
• 31:03
Speaker 3: is you get into legal issues with a different conference,
• 31:06
Speaker 3: you know, the different conferences and whatever, what you're allowed
• 31:08
Speaker 3: to show and whatever. So that's something you guys would
• 31:10
Speaker 3: would do that the right way.
• 31:12
  Speaker 4: Wasn't that?
• 31:12
  Speaker 6: Yeah?
• 31:12
Speaker 4: I mean, don't ask for forgiveness and operation on right.
• 31:15
Speaker 3: Hey, I didn't hear that strike that from the recording
• 31:17
Speaker 3: we did. We did not say that. We did not
• 31:19
Speaker 3: say that quick text here. I know you guys got
• 31:22
Speaker 3: to go, but says Marshall and West Virginia both need
• 31:23
Speaker 3: to schedule more games to that ballpark, both with each
• 31:26
Speaker 3: other and other teams. I mean, that's that would always
• 31:29
  Speaker 3: that would.
• 31:29
Speaker 4: Be a blast, you know.
• 31:30
Speaker 11: I mean, up until last season we would have we
• 31:34
Speaker 11: had a ton of Marshall games. But since they've got
• 31:36
Speaker 11: their new beautiful stadium.
• 31:38
Speaker 3: Been about thirty years in the works, that stadium down
• 31:41
Speaker 3: in Huntings and I and they were talking about that
• 31:42
Speaker 3: stadium when I was a student there in the early nineties.
• 31:44
Speaker 3: If that tells you anything, they finally got it done.
• 31:46
Speaker 4: Now I'm with you, though.
• 31:47
Speaker 11: I mean, something that I've kind of been, you know,
• 31:48
Speaker 11: in the back of my head working on is how
• 31:50
Speaker 11: we could do some sort of you know, whether it's
• 31:52
Speaker 11: four team or something like that tournament there. And it
• 31:55
Speaker 11: would be you know, by all means, having Marshall and
• 31:57
Speaker 11: WVU as the lynch pins would be absolutely terrific. But
• 32:01
Speaker 11: if it was something like those two Penn State and Georgetown,
• 32:05
Speaker 11: you know, something like that and really kind of get
• 32:07
Speaker 11: engaged and have some fun that way, because not only
• 32:10
Speaker 11: was it absolutely amazing here, but I mean the ESPN
• 32:12
Speaker 11: Plus coverage of it was terrific. So I think again
• 32:16
Speaker 11: for those pro for those two teams, as well as
• 32:18
Speaker 11: our stadium and the Dirty Birds having that amazing look
• 32:22
Speaker 11: and with the packed stadium, that just beautiful stadium, I
• 32:26
Speaker 11: think raised the profile a ton.
• 32:28
Speaker 3: Let's go back to that on the field of stuff
• 32:30
Speaker 3: before we let you go, Gas, what are you most
• 32:32
Speaker 3: looking forward to this season?
• 32:35
  Speaker 14: Man?
• 32:35
Speaker 12: Just keep building the chemistry at the team, chemistry in
• 32:38
Speaker 12: h you know, making everybody proud in Charleston. Last year
• 32:42
Speaker 12: we got to a championship game, we didn't finish it.
• 32:44
Speaker 12: So this year were really trying to, you know, bring
• 32:47
Speaker 12: it home. So and this we need all the fans
• 32:48
Speaker 12: to come out. We really need you all support because
• 32:52
Speaker 12: our team thrives off the energy.
• 32:54
Speaker 3: It's a little bit different animal at this level because again,
• 32:58
Speaker 3: you're so so a big part of the community and
• 33:03
Speaker 3: you see the players playing third base and you might
• 33:06
Speaker 3: you might see them over at Capital Market. You know
• 33:08
Speaker 3: in a few hours that you don't see that you
• 33:10
Speaker 3: don't always run in. You know, you're a Red Sox fan.
• 33:12
Speaker 3: You don't always run into your to the Red Sox
• 33:14
Speaker 3: folks over over the supermarket or whatever. But but but
• 33:17
Speaker 3: you do. You guys and and and everybody in the organization.
• 33:20
Speaker 3: You're part of the community here in Charleston. What are
• 33:23
Speaker 3: you most looking forward to?
• 33:24
Speaker 13: No, definitely, it's like, you know, it's a new opportunity
• 33:27
Speaker 13: for this season, you know, and every up new opportunity
• 33:30
Speaker 13: brings something good. And definitely, I think we're going to
• 33:32
Speaker 13: have a lot of success being being in this community.
• 33:35
Speaker 4: Having our season we did.
• 33:36
Speaker 13: Last year, I hope that we can build off that
• 33:39
Speaker 13: and make a lot of progress this year.
• 33:41
Speaker 3: All right, guys, appreciate. Oh we had a text year
• 33:43
  Speaker 3: Savannah Bananas this.
• 33:44
Speaker 7: Year unfortunately, no, no Savannah Bananas this year. They're they're
• 33:49
Speaker 7: getting pretty big. They're selling out MLB Stadium, so it's
• 33:52
Speaker 7: it's tough. I'd love to have them back. But but
• 33:54
Speaker 7: you know, we knew them when Yeah, we knew them
• 33:57
Speaker 7: exactly exactly. I do want to remind people you mentioned
• 33:59
Speaker 7: the twentieth anniversary. We're celebrating that today. First of all,
• 34:03
Speaker 7: gates are opening at five o'clock, first pitch is at
• 34:06
Speaker 7: six thirty five and at six o'clock we are doing
• 34:09
Speaker 7: a twentieth anniversary ceremony to celebrate that. So make sure
• 34:13
Speaker 7: you get in your seats early.
• 34:15
Speaker 3: All right, before we let you go. I know, there's
• 34:17
Speaker 3: gonna be some things that are gonna be going on
• 34:20
Speaker 3: over the summer that aren't necessarily baseball. We can't reveal
• 34:23
Speaker 3: all the information, but there's gonna be some concerts and
• 34:26
Speaker 3: some different things. Logan Scott from our sister station V
• 34:28
Speaker 3: one hundreds apparently moving into the ballpark. We're gonna talk
• 34:31
Speaker 3: to him about that a little bit later on. But again,
• 34:33
Speaker 3: it just goes to show the ownership and whatever, the
• 34:36
Speaker 3: commitment to the community to bring things great to the
• 34:38
  Speaker 3: Kanawa Valley.
• 34:40
  Speaker 4: That's I mean, that's that's spot on.
• 34:42
Speaker 11: I mean, that's something that we're just very literally always
• 34:45
Speaker 11: talking about, always looking for, and you know sometimes we'll
• 34:49
Speaker 11: swing in a miss on it, but you know, it's
• 34:51
Speaker 11: always figuring out, Okay, how can we do more?
• 34:53
Speaker 4: What else can we do? How can we make it better?
• 34:56
Speaker 11: You know, by all means like very again kind of
• 34:59
Speaker 11: literally starts with opening day of the Dirty Birds. I
• 35:02
Speaker 11: mean that's what everything stems off of. So you know,
• 35:05
Speaker 11: can't say it enough. We're just so so excited to
• 35:08
Speaker 11: get this rolling. Last year was absolutely awesome and like
• 35:13
Speaker 11: on the field, off the field, always look into how
• 35:16
Speaker 11: do you get a little better every day?
• 35:18
Speaker 3: All right, guys, we appreciate you being here. Jill, you
• 35:20
Speaker 3: always I heard I was actually listening to your interview
• 35:22
Speaker 3: yesterday as I was driving home when you were on
• 35:24
Speaker 3: with the Logan Scott and you always urge people to
• 35:27
Speaker 3: get their tickets online ahead of time.
• 35:29
Speaker 7: Yes, get tickets at dirty words baseball dot com. You
• 35:32
Speaker 7: can skip the lines at the box office. It's just
• 35:35
Speaker 7: easier that way. But if you're old school and you
• 35:37
Speaker 7: want a printed ticket, we have the box office open
• 35:39
Speaker 7: for you all day.
• 35:40
Speaker 3: Why did you look at me when you said old school?
• 35:42
Speaker 7: I wanted to make eye contact. Trying to be nice
• 35:46
  Speaker 7: and polite, David.
• 35:47
Speaker 3: Be polite to your elders. All right, guys, we'll see
• 35:50
Speaker 3: at the ballpark tonight. Thank you so much. I know
• 35:52
Speaker 3: it's a busy time, but I always like to this

• 35:57
Speaker 3: we love our partnership that we have if you. We're
• 36:00
Speaker 3: gonna ramp it up this year and do even more
• 36:02
Speaker 3: things together. We're very, very happy about that. We'll see
• 36:05
Speaker 3: at the ballpark tonight. It's going to be a great
• 36:07
Speaker 3: series just tonight. It goes on through the weekend and
• 36:10
Speaker 3: we'll have you guys on several times during the season.

Speaker 3: show on five adyline brown to you apart by Jute
• 39:34
Speaker 3: joot Security Systems. Visit protected by jute dot com or
• 39:38
Speaker 3: funnel them on Facebook. Text says Dear Dave, I take
• 39:41
Speaker 3: exception to the greatest Charleston concert being def Leopard and
• 39:44
Speaker 3: Brian Adams. The greatest Charleston concert ever and always will
• 39:48
Speaker 3: be Ozzie and Metallica in the mid nineteen eighties. That
• 39:53
Speaker 3: would be a show. We could probably start this show
• 39:55
Speaker 3: at nine o'clock in the morning, take it to nine
• 39:56
Speaker 3: o'clock at night for people arguing over what was the
• 39:59
Speaker 3: best concert ever. We're in Charleston. We may do that,
• 40:02
Speaker 3: but first of all, Logan Scott, good morning from A
• 40:05
Speaker 3: V one hundred is here. Hey, no buddy, I'm well,
• 40:07
Speaker 3: how are you? I am doing fine? Opening night for
• 40:09
Speaker 3: the Dirty Birds it is. I'm excited about it. There's
• 40:11
Speaker 3: so much. I mean, like I'm gonna try to I'm
• 40:13
Speaker 3: gonna try to go down the list of things going on. Well,
• 40:17
Speaker 3: I was gonna say, we'll be a Dancing with the
• 40:18
Speaker 3: Stars center. You get so dancing with the Stars. We
• 40:22
Speaker 3: got the race for the ribbon about tomorrow morning, tomorrow morning.
• 40:26
Speaker 3: But the pack packet pickup parties tonight. Yeah, try to
• 40:29
Speaker 3: saying that a couple of times. All right, that's going
• 40:30
Speaker 3: on tonight. All these there's various farmers' markets going on
• 40:34
Speaker 3: in my part of where where I live in Hurricane.
• 40:36
Speaker 3: They've got their their main street Spring festival going on
• 40:39
Speaker 3: all day tomorrow. Saint Albans has got a pub crawl
• 40:43
Speaker 3: going on tomorrow night for sinking to my ow a
• 40:45
Speaker 3: little bit early. So all that having been said, why
• 40:48
Speaker 3: are you moving into the ballpark?
• 40:50
Speaker 17: Well, this is a pretty special event. It's called camping
• 40:53
Speaker 17: for Kids. Okay, So with w v RC Media, we
• 40:57
Speaker 17: were very proud supporters of w YOU Medicine Children's so
• 41:01
Speaker 17: we do radiothon every August. So this is kind of
• 41:04
Speaker 17: a kickstart to Radiothon. I'm going to be camping out,
• 41:07
Speaker 17: and I'm setting up camp on Friday, May thirtieth at
• 41:11
Speaker 17: Gomart Ballpark, and I'm camping out until I raised ten
• 41:14
Speaker 17: thousand dollars for WVU Medicine children, so I could be
• 41:16
Speaker 17: there till Tuesday or longer.
• 41:19
Speaker 4: Or longer or longer.
• 41:20
Speaker 3: So when you say you're camping out, I mean you literally.
• 41:24
Speaker 3: This is not glamping as they call it, right, They're
• 41:26
Speaker 3: not going to be heading out to the van to
• 41:28
Speaker 3: sleep at night or whatever.
• 41:29
  Speaker 4: No tent.
• 41:31
Speaker 17: Obviously, materials for smores, because that's important. When you're Yeah, fire,
• 41:35
Speaker 17: I got to I gotta ask if we can have
• 41:37
Speaker 17: fire at the at the ballpark.
• 41:39
Speaker 3: Like Andy she just said during any interview with him,
• 41:42
Speaker 3: it's better to ask for forgiveness and permission.
• 41:45
  Speaker 4: This is true.
• 41:46
Speaker 3: Just don't burn down the ballpark, Okay, Yeah, I'll have
• 41:49
Speaker 3: people on stands. It's AstroTurf. Yeah right, all right, so
• 41:53
Speaker 3: you're you're really doing this. I'm really doing it. Yeah,
• 41:56
Speaker 3: now this You've done this before, but never in Charles, Right,
• 42:00
Speaker 3: didn't you do this one of the other markets?
• 42:01
  Speaker 7: I did?
• 42:02
Speaker 17: Yeah, So I just moved here in October, so I
• 42:04
Speaker 17: did this in the market that I came from before,
• 42:07
Speaker 17: but this is larger, bigger, better, and you know, more money.
• 42:11
Speaker 17: I'm the goal to raise more money.
• 42:13
Speaker 3: So you're going to show up and you're just going
• 42:14
Speaker 3: to pitch the tent. Yeah, and then how do how
• 42:16
Speaker 3: will people and we'll be talking a lot about it
• 42:18
Speaker 3: between now and then, But how do people get the
• 42:20
  Speaker 3: money to you?
• 42:21
  Speaker 4: Yeah? For sure?
• 42:21
Speaker 3: So you can come to the game.
• 42:23
Speaker 17: You can put it through the fence after the game's
• 42:26
Speaker 17: over if I'm there at two am. But the easiest
• 42:28
Speaker 17: way we'll be online. I'll have an online platform. The
• 42:31
Speaker 17: QR code will be up at the on the big screen.
• 42:34
Speaker 17: I'll share it on the V one hundred Facebook page,
• 42:36
Speaker 17: my Facebook page, and you know, I will be there
• 42:40
Speaker 17: until I raise ten one thousand dollars. Now, if your
• 42:43
Speaker 17: business you or your business want to get involved, you
• 42:45
Speaker 17: can call Sean here at our office three zero four
• 42:48
Speaker 17: three four two eight one three one, because we are
• 42:50
Speaker 17: looking for some sponsors as well.
• 42:51
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that would that would be a nice
• 42:53
Speaker 3: little shot in the arms. So if you know, listen
• 42:55
Speaker 3: to us, mister and missus. Business owner, if you want
• 42:57
Speaker 3: to get involved in this and you want to sponsor this,
• 43:00
Speaker 3: just to call Tracy at the front desk. He'll put
• 43:02
Speaker 3: you in touch with Sean and we'll get some sponsors there.
• 43:04
Speaker 3: And we've already got I mean obviously Go Mart's involved.
• 43:06
Speaker 17: Yep, Go Mart and the Charleston Dirty Birds. Yeah, it's
• 43:10
Speaker 17: it's gonna be a great event starting May thirtieth. It's
• 43:13
Speaker 17: a Friday three pm. And hopefully I'm out of there
• 43:16
Speaker 17: by Saturday. But again, if i'm there till Wednesday, I'm
• 43:19
  Speaker 17: doing it for.
• 43:20
Speaker 3: W You are at least they're gonna least going to
• 43:22
Speaker 3: give you like shower access.
• 43:23
Speaker 17: If you need to ask that question, I'm gonna write
• 43:26
  Speaker 17: that down.
• 43:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, things to ask, Yeah, ask about shower access?
• 43:30
Speaker 3: Yeah so and what about concession stands? They gonna give
• 43:35
Speaker 3: you free round the concession stand or not?
• 43:37
Speaker 17: I have to ask that too. Maybe i'll ask forgiveness
• 43:39
  Speaker 17: on that one.
• 43:40
Speaker 3: Text here says you ought to make that a competition
• 43:43
Speaker 3: between local media personalities. Each has a ten thousand dollars goal.
• 43:47
Speaker 3: See how long each one will last until they reach
• 43:49
Speaker 3: their goal. Ooh, I know that may be in a
• 43:51
  Speaker 3: future time.
• 43:51
  Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good idea.
• 43:53
Speaker 3: Here's the thing. We've got such a great relationship yeah,
• 43:56
Speaker 3: with with w with WVU and what we do here.
• 43:58
Speaker 3: But look on down the line if we want to.
• 44:02
Speaker 3: We're all friends with these other guys, but they all
• 44:04
Speaker 3: suck compared to us. So if we want shots fired,
• 44:08
Speaker 3: shots fired. Dave said that Logan did not say that
• 44:11
Speaker 3: we're all good. We're all good. Yeah, but that would
• 44:13
Speaker 3: be something that might be fun. But let's focus on
• 44:15
Speaker 3: this one right now. Again, it starts. What's the date?
• 44:17
Speaker 3: It is Friday, May thirtieth.
• 44:20
Speaker 17: And again, you know, there are over fourteen hundred kids
• 44:24
Speaker 17: that utilized WVU Medicine Children's just in Kanawha County last year.
• 44:28
Speaker 3: So fourteen thousand just in coneteen hundred fourteen, I'm sorry,
• 44:31
Speaker 3: fourteen hundred just in Kanawh County. You use this because
• 44:34
Speaker 3: sometimes I think here in Charleston you hear that WVU
• 44:36
Speaker 3: and you're thinking, oh, that's something that's up up north
• 44:38
Speaker 3: from here. It may be, but you know, fourteen hundred
• 44:43
Speaker 3: kids here in Kanawh County right, absolutely use it last year. Yeah,
• 44:46
Speaker 3: all right, Well, we'll have you on several times between
• 44:48
Speaker 3: now and then. Good luck to you man, Thank you,
• 44:49
Speaker 3: I appreciate it. Logan Scott from and of course Logan
• 44:51
Speaker 3: you can hear him on V one hundred on your
• 44:53

  Speaker 4: That's a great question.

Speaker 17: Maybe a solo stove.

• 45:38
Speaker 3: all right, well thanks, yeah, that's somebody just text me.
• 45:40
Speaker 3: Maybe a toothbrush and toothpaste too. Look at it. Look

Speaker 3: Meadows is here right now where do you, Mama, don't
• 49:16
Speaker 3: ever say that again, especially when you're wearing a golf shirt.
• 49:19
Speaker 3: It just doesn't work with martiniz with martiniz on it
• 49:25
Speaker 3: is it just me? Or does this Friday have a
• 49:29
Speaker 3: more than Friday feel? We were talking about that in
• 49:32
Speaker 3: the office today week the weather. We share a layer
• 49:36
Speaker 3: up there, myself, tj Amanda when she's here, Bobby Spry, Stephaniah,
• 49:42
Speaker 3: Stephanie uh And it's kind of they call it the
• 49:44
Speaker 3: fun zone up there and h It just I don't know.
• 49:48
Speaker 3: Today just feels different, man. It's just heading into what's
• 49:50
Speaker 3: been a long week, heading into the weekend. So many
• 49:52
Speaker 3: things going on. Dirty Birds opening night tonight, Dancing with
• 49:57
Speaker 3: Stars is tonight in Charleston. Saint Alban's doing a pub
• 49:59
Speaker 3: crawl tomorrow. Steve Animal told me about that. I know, shocking.
• 50:02
Speaker 3: Steve Animal had a pub crawl, shocking. I can't believe it.
• 50:06
Speaker 3: We got some big things going on over and as
• 50:08
Speaker 3: I said, over Putnam County two tomorrow, the Spring Festival
• 50:12
Speaker 3: going on downtown, opening the Putnam County Farmers Market happening tomorrow. No,
• 50:16
Speaker 3: I left something out, but that's just a few of
• 50:18
Speaker 3: the things that are going on this weekend. So don't
• 50:20
Speaker 3: tell me you ain't got nothing to do, because there's
• 50:22
Speaker 3: nothing but stuff to do, always something to do. What
• 50:25
Speaker 3: about that little show you do between ten and noon? Yeah,
• 50:28
Speaker 3: so you're going to join us at ten o'clock, I am. Yeah,
• 50:31
Speaker 3: you're going to join us at ten o six. You
• 50:32
Speaker 3: go through my agent on that. You know, by the way,
• 50:35
Speaker 3: my agent. Today's my agent's birthday.
• 50:37
  Speaker 5: This is it?
• 50:37
Speaker 3: Really his birthday? Today's Today is mister Burke Allen's birthday
• 50:40
Speaker 3: and birthday. If you're listening, happy birthday, sir. Sadly, I
• 50:42
Speaker 3: did not know that till someone in my office told me.
• 50:46
Speaker 3: We've only you know, we've only known each other for
• 50:48
Speaker 3: well over forty years now, and I didn't know that.
• 50:51
Speaker 3: I was just about to say, at least you know
• 50:52
Speaker 3: your agent's birthday. I don't know my agent's birthday. So well,
• 50:56
Speaker 3: I only know because somebody told me in the office,
• 50:58
Speaker 3: all right, what do you got today?
• 50:58
Speaker 19: So you're gonna join us atenno's. You opened up a
• 51:00
Speaker 19: little can yesterday. Maybe maybe on your show we'll talk
• 51:03
Speaker 19: about that and get into it with some comments among
• 51:05
Speaker 19: Board of Public Works members. Also coming up a ten
• 51:08
Speaker 19: thirty three. We've got a photographer, local photographer out of
• 51:11
Speaker 19: McDowell County who has been capturing the essence of everything
• 51:14
Speaker 19: that has happened since the flood started up till now.
• 51:17
Speaker 19: I mean, she is well traveled in McDowell County from there,
• 51:19
Speaker 19: but she's on the road every day seeing everything. We'll
• 51:22
Speaker 19: talk about her experiences, talk about her images and what
• 51:25
Speaker 19: she's seen. I'm very much looking forward to that. And oh,
• 51:27
Speaker 19: by the way, Dave, today eleven thirty little thing called
• 51:30
  Speaker 19: steam Release.
• 51:33
Speaker 3: I feel like it could be big today. I feel
• 51:35
Speaker 3: like it could be big because I mean, and I
• 51:37
Speaker 3: know you, and I've known you for a number of years.
• 51:39
  Speaker 3: You're a very very likable guy. But you've ruffled a
• 51:42
Speaker 3: feather or two, mister Meadows or the last week, so
• 51:46
Speaker 3: I wrote about Peia. That may not have been popular,
• 51:48
Speaker 3: but look it's time to face reality.
• 51:50
Speaker 19: What Peia was can't be again. Economics just will not
• 51:55
Speaker 19: work today. I pose a question at wv metronews dot
• 51:58
Speaker 19: com about these tariffs. We've heard of the Greatest Generation
• 52:02
Speaker 19: WW two, the Great Depression. They had grit, they had gravitas,
• 52:08
Speaker 19: right or wrong, good policy or not? With what Trump
• 52:10
Speaker 19: is doing with the tariffs. I don't know our generation today.
• 52:13
  Speaker 19: I don't know if we're up for it. I don't
• 52:14
Speaker 19: know if we can stand the pain not to consume.
• 52:18
Speaker 3: I said this years ago. If during World War Two
• 52:21
Speaker 3: when they did rationing, if it happened to happen today,
• 52:24
Speaker 3: it wouldn't happen today because people would just be like,
• 52:26
Speaker 3: screw you, you can't tell me what to do. That's
• 52:29
Speaker 3: where we are in America right now. So there's also
• 52:31
Speaker 3: the question there is this not a war worth fighting?
• 52:33
Speaker 19: And maybe Americans pushed back because the President's wrong, or
• 52:36
Speaker 19: we don't have the grit to see it through.
• 52:38
Speaker 3: So we deal with that in my commentary today, We'll
• 52:40
Speaker 3: be listening and I'll be sticking around apparently because you
• 52:42
Speaker 3: want me on the show for some reason. I'll see
• 52:44
Speaker 3: you later today. Metro News Midday powered by Salingo Law
