Transcript
- 0:00Hey, welcome back. We are done with our summer series of Health with Hashimoto's
- 0:03back to normal episodes.
- 0:05And today I want to talk about overwhelm because it is so common for women to
- 0:09feel completely overwhelmed with your health.
- 0:12You don't even know where to start to improve your health.
- 0:14I know we just did a summer series and it was 12 different tools.
- 0:18So obviously there are a lot of things, but then you go into like overwhelm
- 0:23of there's so many things.
- 0:24How do you know what to do? How do you know what to start with?
- 0:26How do you know what's right for you?
- 0:28There's so many options. It is so common to feel overwhelmed,
- 0:33to feel just unsure of what to do next.
- 0:37That is exactly why I created the Simple Habits Program.
- 0:40I actually created it for another reason is because you need simple,
- 0:44small things that are sustainable so that you can make progress.
- 0:48And so I created it. That's what we're going to talk about in this episode.
- 0:51I am so excited to share that with you. But first, let me welcome you to the
- 0:55Health with Hashimoto's podcast.
- 0:56My name is Esther Yunkin. I am a registered nurse. I spent 17 years in the emergency
- 1:01department, actually around the country, different emergency departments,
- 1:04and I got sick and tired of seeing this broken conventional Western medical system.
- 1:09I got sick and tired of not really helping people fix what was going on.
- 1:14Yes, it can patch them up in the emergency department if they have an accident
- 1:17or heart attack or something.
- 1:18That's why we were there. But I saw so many people coming in for chronic things
- 1:22that I knew that there were solutions for, but they didn't know that.
- 1:26So I went back to school, I became a holistic health educator,
- 1:30still an RN, and now I help women, especially women with Hashimoto's,
- 1:34figure out their root causes.
- 1:35Because if you don't know your root causes, then you can't take action on them.
- 1:39And if you can't take action on your root causes, then they continue to do what
- 1:43they did in the first place, which was trigger or start your.
- 1:46Problem. They can worsen your autoimmune problem or they start new stuff.
- 1:51We don't want that. We want to be healthy. We want to feel like we used to.
- 1:54We want to feel like ourselves again. And that is what I help women do.
- 1:57So welcome to the podcast.
- 1:58This is episode 163. And if you need a place, if you're new to this and you
- 2:03need a place to start, you can start at episode zero or one and episode 100.
- 2:08I kind of did a recap at that time. So those are two good places to start.
- 2:12If you are new to the podcast, I just want to welcome you.
- 2:15Today we are talking about the Simple Habits Program.
- 2:17Because like I said, women are overwhelmed, women are busy, we don't even know where to start.
- 2:23And also, we need small, simple things.
- 2:26This program actually started on a whim. I was getting ready to go with my family
- 2:32to my aunt's house for the day.
- 2:34And I was like, Oh my goodness, I should do a Simple Habits Program text base.
- 2:38And, you know, just help people with one habit a week.
- 2:43I was like, this is perfect. So I sent out a Facebook message and,
- 2:47or actually just posted it on my Facebook, and the response I got was amazing.
- 2:51So many people were looking for something like this.
- 2:55So I have run the Simple Habits program two different times.
- 2:58This will be the third time, and it's grown each time,
- 3:02and the people are just so grateful for how their lives change as a result of
- 3:09the Simple Habits program and what they implement in the 12 weeks.
- 3:13I'm going to tell you right now, I'm not going to teach you a ton of groundbreaking
- 3:17things that you've never heard before.
- 3:19What I'm going to do is I'm going to help you implement the simple things. Like, for example.
- 3:24You know that drinking water is important, right? I mean, if you don't have
- 3:27enough water, your energy fades.
- 3:29And of course, with Hashimoto's, we struggle with energy.
- 3:33And so what's one simple thing you can do? Well, let's figure out how to get more water in.
- 3:37And yes, in the Simple Habits program, when I am texting you,
- 3:41I define water because water does not mean just plain water.
- 3:46I prefer that, but I know that a lot of people don't.
- 3:49So that is kind of what you're going to get in the Simple Habits program.
- 3:53Let me tell you more about it. But first, I want you to know that this was designed
- 3:57to help you implement things in a simple way.
- 4:01It's designed to help you feel better without the overwhelm.
- 4:05This round kicks off mid-September and we finish very early in December so that
- 4:10you can be done and you can be ready. You can have lots of energy.
- 4:13You can feel better. You can feel more like yourself. You can release some weight
- 4:16before the Christmas season starts.
- 4:19All right, so let's talk about the problem first. Overwhelm. It's huge.
- 4:24So much overwhelm. I mean, we've got the internet at the tip of our fingers.
- 4:28We have so much information.
- 4:30And like one participant said, she said, so many of us know what we should do,
- 4:36but it feels so overwhelming.
- 4:39There's so much. How do you know what to do? You get decision fatigue.
- 4:43I mean, there are so many decisions that you have to make every single day and
- 4:46then trying to sort through the endless advice, applying it to your specific
- 4:50situation and your health.
- 4:52You're just like, I don't know, I'll figure it out tomorrow.
- 4:54And then tomorrow happens and you're tired and you have that decision fatigue
- 4:57again. And you're like, okay, I'm going to figure it out tomorrow. And it just keeps going.
- 5:02So like Lori said, you know, this helps with the shoulds. We know what we should
- 5:08do, but it seems overwhelming.
- 5:09Well, the simple habits program is like, okay, here is a simple habit for you for this week.
- 5:15How are you going to apply it to your situation?
- 5:19I'm not going to come in and tell you, like, you know, you need to drink,
- 5:22you know, a gallon of water. First of all, I'm not gonna tell you a gallon.
- 5:26And then I'm not going to say you need to do it in this way.
- 5:29And you need to do it by this time. No, I'm going to say how much are you currently drinking?
- 5:33And if it's not the amount that you feel is adequate based on the calculations
- 5:38that I'm going to give you, then how can you increase it?
- 5:42But not like if you're at, you know, six ounces of water in a day,
- 5:45first of all, that would be crazy.
- 5:47But I know some people are like, I'm not going to expect you to go from six
- 5:50ounces to a full gallon. That would be crazy.
- 5:53We're going to do just simple things. How can we gradually move you up?
- 5:58Because you got one week to figure this out. Let's implement and try.
- 6:03And on Wednesday, I'm going to text you like, how are you doing? Do you need to adjust?
- 6:07Maybe you're set too big of a goal, or maybe you tried something and it didn't work.
- 6:12And so now you need to reconfigure. That's awesome.
- 6:16That's what we're doing. We're going to learn. We're going to implement.
- 6:19We're going to do simple things at the time because the decision fatigue and
- 6:24the overwhelm, they're absolutely real.
- 6:26They're absolutely valid, but they don't have to be the end of the story.
- 6:29There is a solution to take away that overwhelm and to provide structure.
- 6:34And that is the Simple Habits Program.
- 6:36So like I kind of alluded to, I'm going to give you one new habit per week.
- 6:40It's delivered in very small, bite-sized steps.
- 6:44I have to keep it small because it's a text message.
- 6:46I could do an entire podcast episode or a blog post on each of these,
- 6:50but I had to limit myself to a text message.
- 6:54So yes, You are going to get some education. You're going to get some tips.
- 6:59You're going to get some encouragement, but it's going to be small.
- 7:01You're also going to have built-in accountability. I'm going to give you the new habit once a week.
- 7:06This is what we're working on. I'm going to expect you to text back and say
- 7:10this is how you're going to implement it.
- 7:12I'm going to give you encouragement and accountability on Wednesday.
- 7:16I will text you and say, how are you doing?
- 7:19Maybe sometimes I'll give you a little bit more details about why this habit is important.
- 7:24Maybe I'm going to give you just a quote or something to encourage you,
- 7:28I am going to check in on Wednesday.
- 7:31This accountability part is key.
- 7:35And then on at the end of the week we're going to check in
- 7:37and we're going to celebrate always celebrate did you
- 7:41absolutely not do what you're going to do okay but
- 7:44you did other things there will be things to celebrate i promise even
- 7:47if you don't do what you said you're going to do on sunday it's okay
- 7:51there is absolutely no shame there is no guilt in the simple habits program
- 7:55it is encouragement it is getting you back to where you want to be to be healthier
- 8:01to have simple habits that you have implemented that change your overall wellness.
- 8:08So one participant said the simple way you presented in small manageable bites
- 8:13and via text messages attracted me.
- 8:15Somebody else said weekly reminders via text are such a great way for a busy
- 8:20mom to make micro lifestyle changes. Yes, absolutely.
- 8:23That was Liz and she is so busy and yes, she understands the need for micro lifestyle changes.
- 8:31If you're going to do something big and massive, awesome.
- 8:33More power to you. Some people do the 75 hard.
- 8:35It's awesome. I could never do that. I guess never say never.
- 8:39But it's huge. And figuring out all of those things for a massive lifestyle
- 8:45change like that, that's a lot of stress. And I don't have time to deal with all of that stress.
- 8:50I don't have time to figure all of that out right now.
- 8:52I need small, manageable, and simple.
- 8:56That is what works for me and I know that it works for so many others because I hear from them.
- 9:02So if you are in that same boat, then this program is for you.
- 9:06Ruth said, you have the unique balance of celebrating progress,
- 9:10even small, while challenging me to keep going. It's rare and it's valuable.
- 9:15That was Ruth. Thank you so much, Ruth. It is such an honor to be texting back
- 9:19and forth on a personal level with every single participant.
- 9:23And that leads me to, that reminds me,
- 9:26This is limited because I am personally texting every single thing.
- 9:31I mean, obviously, I have the initial like the Sunday and Wednesday,
- 9:34the initial things automated.
- 9:36But then you text me back and it is me personally responding to you.
- 9:41So for that reason, I do keep it limited to, you know, the amount of people
- 9:45that I can actually text back because I don't want to slack off and not be communicating
- 9:51with people in the program. So, yes, it is limited.
- 9:55Spaces are limited. just so that I can provide that one-on-one support because
- 10:00I want to help you remove the mental load of deciding what to work on and I
- 10:05want to help you stay consistent even when life is busy.
- 10:08I know absolutely life is busy.
- 10:11All right so what did some of the other participants say as far as you know what changed?
- 10:17Carrie said I have a different perspective now even a little bit of time for myself counts.
- 10:22Somebody else was talking about consistency, even without perfection.
- 10:26She said, I didn't follow through on everything, but the texts and reminders
- 10:30kept healthy choices top of mind instead of going for months without focus. Oh, absolutely.
- 10:36Like I said at the beginning, you know, you push it off the decision,
- 10:38you push it off until tomorrow because you don't have time to deal with it for today.
- 10:41And then pretty soon it's been months since you have tried to implement something
- 10:46new. So yes, absolutely.
- 10:48Consistency, even without perfection. And like I said, never any shame.
- 10:53All right. Another participant said, I liked the idea of small habits that ultimately equal big changes.
- 10:59Yes, that is the goal. We want big changes.
- 11:02But just like a ladder, you've seen the image of a ladder with super,
- 11:07super, super big rungs, like, you know, five feet in between the rungs,
- 11:12that's impossible to climb unless you're my teenage son.
- 11:15And then he could just like climb up it no problem because he can do insane
- 11:19number of pull-ups. I cannot.
- 11:21How can I pull myself up if the rungs are five feet apart?
- 11:25But if a ladder has rungs every foot, I can climb that.
- 11:30And when you go up one, it's a whole lot easier to go up to the next one and
- 11:33the next one and the next one.
- 11:35That is what the Simple Habits Program is. It's about being, having doable things.
- 11:40Nothing overwhelming, just small, simple, doable.
- 11:44This Simple Habits program is for women at all stages.
- 11:47Whether you're starting out, whether you're ready for bigger changes,
- 11:51I'm not going to say in the program that you're not allowed to make big changes. No.
- 11:55You can make whatever changes and whatever habits are going to work for you that week.
- 12:01And then what you can maintain. Because throughout the 12 weeks,
- 12:04you're also going to maintain.
- 12:06So the habit that you implement in week one, you're going to work on that.
- 12:10You're going to refine it so that it works in your life.
- 12:12Obviously, it's not a habit after one week.
- 12:15But you figured out what works. And so you're going to keep doing that in week two.
- 12:20And you're going to add on something else that is very small.
- 12:23And so by the end of 12 weeks, you have changed so many things,
- 12:27but in small, manageable ways that work for your life.
- 12:31So the goal is better energy, better sleep, less stress, better immune system,
- 12:36feeling like yourself again.
- 12:38That is the goal. All right. So how about the details, right?
- 12:42You can go to the webpage and you can figure out everything.
- 12:45You can read all of the details.
- 12:47You can read more testimonials of people who have already done this program.
- 12:51Many of them, by the way, have done it twice. They did it in the first round
- 12:54and then they did it again in the second round. And that's for a couple of reasons.
- 12:57Some people wanted to make more changes.
- 13:00Like they made some small, simple habits changes in the first round and then
- 13:04they wanted to solidify or they wanted to expand in the next one.
- 13:08Some people said that life got too busy and they kind of quit implementing.
- 13:12Some of them said that they forgot to do like one, you know, like vegetables.
- 13:19We talk about vegetables once. We do talk about sleep. We talk about diet.
- 13:23We talk about exercise. We talk about stress.
- 13:25We talk about so many different things. And so maybe they are just not doing
- 13:30one of those habits and they wanted to go back and do everything again. That's awesome.
- 13:35I did hear back from one person yesterday when I sent out a text about the Simple
- 13:40Habits program, and she said that she's still doing most of her habits from
- 13:45the last round, and she's still working, I think she said on vegetables.
- 13:48She said always a struggle, but she's thinking about it, and she is conscious
- 13:54when she's planning her meals, and she's always striving for a little but of course, no shame.
- 14:02So details are on the website. I've got the starting date, which is September
- 14:0814th. It's a Sunday. We always start on a Sunday.
- 14:10The ending date is December 6th, which is a Saturday, and it is before Christmas.
- 14:15And the cost is only $97.
- 14:18So this is the perfect time. You know, fall, we're all resetting.
- 14:23We're all falling back into new routines, old routines,
- 14:26getting the kids out to school maybe you're an empty
- 14:29nester and like you're feeling like you need
- 14:32to reset because that's what we've always done
- 14:34in the fall I don't know what it is for you but I feel like fall is a perfect
- 14:38time to do a program like this especially because it will get you to the holidays
- 14:44eating better we are going to go through some habits of diet we're going to
- 14:50go through some habits of sleep.
- 14:52I'm going to do my best to help you feel like yourself again in small, simple ways.
- 14:58Because improving your health does not have to be overwhelming.
- 15:01Small steps absolutely add up.
- 15:05The Simple Habits Program is designed to make the simple steps very doable for you.
- 15:11All right, so join the Simple Habits Program directly for $97.
- 15:15There is, of course, a link down in the show notes. You can click over there.
- 15:19And on the website, there are two ways to get it cheaper.
- 15:25Number one is enroll in the holistic Hashimoto's course.
- 15:29If you enroll in the holistic Hashimoto's course before the Simple Habits program
- 15:33begins, and you send me a message,
- 15:35you can be added to the Simple Habits program for free, because the Simple Habits
- 15:40program will absolutely go phenomenally with the Holistic Hashimoto's course.
- 15:46It's going to help you implement things.
- 15:49They work so well together. The other way that you can save money on the Simple
- 15:55Habits program is by subscribing to the Healthy Weight Stack.
- 16:00Now that, I've talked about it before, that is products.
- 16:03That is the MindBody GLP-1 system along with the Protandim NRF-2.
- 16:08So those two things together help your body create more antioxidants.
- 16:12They help your body clean things out, clean up oxidative stress.
- 16:16And of course, what is one of the root causes of all autoimmune problems?
- 16:21It's your cells not working right.
- 16:22It's your body, your immune system being too stressed.
- 16:27And so we want to clean things up at the cellular level. That is the Protandim NRF-2.
- 16:32It's amazing at that. And then the other part of the healthy weight stack is
- 16:36the MindBody GLP-1 system.
- 16:38And that is going to help your body create more GLP-1. It's not a synthetic.
- 16:43It's not a pharmaceutical.
- 16:45This is your body doing the work to produce more.
- 16:48They've done two different clinical studies, and one of them found a 200% increase
- 16:53in how much GLP-1 the participants were creating.
- 16:57That is your body creating the GLP-1 that your body recognizes so that you don't
- 17:02have the pharmaceutical side effects.
- 17:04Absolutely phenomenal. I always want to help your body do what your body is
- 17:08designed to do. And it's not just the GLP-1.
- 17:11Your body also makes other hormones, other enzymes, other things that help everything work better.
- 17:17So subscribing for the Healthy Weight Stack and using that for three months
- 17:22is another way that you can save money on the Simple Habits Program.
- 17:27Because I really want you to have phenomenal outcomes.
- 17:30I know that you will get good outcomes by just doing the Simple Habits Program.
- 17:36I also know that by combining it with the Holistic Hashimoto's course or combining
- 17:41it with a healthy weight stack, you are going to up-level your results because
- 17:45there'll be more things working in your favor.
- 17:48They're going to work in synergy together and you're going to get more powerful results.
- 17:52All right, so head down to the show notes and click the link.
- 17:55By the way, if you choose the healthy weight stack subscription option so that
- 17:59you can save money on the Simple Habits program, you do need to send me a message
- 18:03that you want to be enrolled in the Simple Habits program.
- 18:05I do not just automatically enroll you when you place that order.
- 18:10Also, you do have to use my affiliate link for the Healthy Weight Stack.
- 18:14And I know that there are other people who have affiliate links for the Healthy
- 18:18Weight Stack. If you want to support one of your friends, that's awesome. Go ahead and do that.
- 18:22Just know that you'll pay full price for the Simple Habits Program.
- 18:27Like I said, it's only $97.
- 18:29All right, I'm so excited that it is fall and we are back to full episodes.
- 18:33I have a lot of interviews for you for this year. This is my third, I guess, season.
- 18:38I have never called them seasons. It's the third year of the podcast,
- 18:41and I have decided to reach out to experts because you wanted that,
- 18:46or at least some people who are listening wanted that to send me messages.
- 18:50So I think right now I will do about two solo episodes, and then every third
- 18:56episode will be a guest interview.
- 18:59Let me know who you want me to interview. I have some really special guests
- 19:04lined up for you. I'm excited to share those with you.
- 19:07All right, I'll see you next week on the Health with Hashimoto's podcast.
- 19:10Go ahead down to the show notes, click the link, and I'll also see you in the
- 19:14Simple Habits program where we'll be texting back and forth several times a week.
- 19:18This podcast is for informational and educational purposes only.
- 19:21Please discuss any changes with your trusted healthcare provider.
- 19:24To take your next step, join our school community and explore the courses available there.
- 19:29You do not have to figure your health out alone.
- 19:32So that is school, S-K-O-O-L.com, and it is the Health with Hashimoto's community.
- 19:37I'll see you next time on the Health with Hashimoto's podcast.
