- 0:01Speaker 1: Line from the Skying New Center.
- 0:04Speaker 2: This is the Kenny Report. Don Chris Kenny. Welcome to
- 0:10Speaker 2: a slightly delayed Kenny Report because of that breaking story.
- 0:13Speaker 3: In the US tonight.
- 0:15Speaker 2: In the program investigations, Actions, politics and outrage over the
- 0:20Speaker 2: wave of antisemitism reaching literally an explosive level in this country.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I'll talk to James Patterson, Pauline Hansen, David Adler, and
- 0:28Speaker 2: Alexander Downer. Also, we'll recap and give you the latest
- 0:32Speaker 2: on that horrific plane crash at the Reagan International Airport
- 0:35Speaker 2: in Washington, DC, where I've just gone through those details
- 0:39Speaker 2: with you, and also Mark Nicholson and Tim Blair on
- 0:42Speaker 2: all the issues hopefully I laugh or two too on
- 0:45Speaker 2: this bleak news day. Now, before we do go on
- 0:48Speaker 2: with the program, I do just want to recap what
- 0:50Speaker 2: we do know about that shocking crash in DC.
- 0:54Speaker 4: There is confirmation now that American Airlines, flying under PSA
- 0:58Speaker 4: Airlines but under the banner of American and American Eagle,
- 1:01Speaker 4: flight fifty three forty two from Wichita, Kansas to Ronald
- 1:06Speaker 4: Reagan Airport, DCA crashed it apparently in fact, we're told
- 1:12Speaker 4: it did, and we've seen the video it collided with
- 1:15Speaker 4: a Blackhawk helicopter. And the plane that American Ara was
- 1:21Speaker 4: flying was a CRJ seven hundred twin with sixty passengers
- 1:26Speaker 4: and four crew members, two pilots, two flight attendants, and
- 1:30Speaker 4: the helicopter was carrying, which was a training flight, was
- 1:35Speaker 4: carrying three soldiers.
- 1:38Speaker 3: And you can see that.
- 1:39Speaker 4: They collide it and it appears when you take a
- 1:41Speaker 4: closer look at it, that the helicopter, the Blackhawk helicopter
- 1:45Speaker 4: which apparently was taking off, hit the plane as it
- 1:49Speaker 4: came in from the back.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Just a tragic accident there at Reagan International Wairport on
- 1:55Speaker 2: the Patimac offline in and out of that airport three
- 1:57Speaker 2: times in the past three weeks. I'm always mindful of
- 2:01Speaker 2: a terrible crash there in January nineteen eighty two when
- 2:04Speaker 2: a plane wasn't sufficiently de ice and it went low,
- 2:08Speaker 2: took out a bridge, and they plunged into the Potomac.
- 2:12Speaker 2: It will raise questions about the safety of that busy
- 2:15Speaker 2: airport right on that river, right in the middle of Washington, DC.
- 2:18Speaker 3: But as we.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Speak, boats and rescue first responders and the LIKA on
- 2:24Speaker 2: the Potomac looking for survivors. So here I was last
- 2:34Speaker 2: night on this desk again lamenting how weak our politicians
- 2:38Speaker 2: and police have been in combating anti Semitism, how their
- 2:41Speaker 2: weakness has only increased the threat. Then by the end
- 2:45Speaker 2: of the hour, as you know, we were hearing about explosives, arrests,
- 2:49Speaker 2: covert investigations, and anti terror operations. The unspeakable atrocities of
- 2:55Speaker 2: October the seventh of twenty twenty three in Israel occurred
- 2:59Speaker 2: on a Saturday. The very next night, Australian Islamists celebrated
- 3:04Speaker 2: on the streets of lakember in Sydney, and the night
- 3:06Speaker 2: after that, the anti Jew hatred spread to the Opera House,
- 3:10Speaker 2: where the mob burned Israeli flags, chanted if the Jews,
- 3:14Speaker 2: where's the Jews? And to the years of many gas
- 3:17Speaker 2: the Jews. Police stood back and watched. On that night
- 3:21Speaker 2: while that was unfolding, I was on air here my
- 3:25Speaker 2: first show after the October the seventh attack, warning that
- 3:28Speaker 2: the response was too weak, that this would only get worse,
- 3:32Speaker 2: that soon people would be blaming Israel and the Jews,
- 3:36Speaker 2: blaming the victims of this viole atrocity. You don't need
- 3:40Speaker 2: to be a rocket scientist to know this stuff. You
- 3:42Speaker 2: just need to understand the facts, the history and the
- 3:45Speaker 2: ways of his Islamist extremism and anti semitism and the
- 3:50Speaker 2: awful politics of hatred. I mean, let me remind you
- 3:54Speaker 2: the day after twelve hundred people were slaughtered, women, babies,
- 3:58Speaker 2: the elderly, young women, men, people executed, burned, alive, raped, defiled, tortured,
- 4:06Speaker 2: twelve hundred of them, and two hundred and fifty people
- 4:09Speaker 2: taken hostage, including babies, little children taken hostage. And the
- 4:15Speaker 2: next night we saw this on the streets of Sydney.
- 4:19Speaker 3: That's a day of courage.
- 4:31Speaker 2: If you saw that and did not realize Australia faced
- 4:34Speaker 2: a real and present danger, then you were either in denial,
- 4:38Speaker 2: your idiotic week, or all of the above. Then the
- 4:42Speaker 2: next next night we saw this. So has there ever
- 4:54Speaker 2: been a more sickening and dramatic warning about a threat
- 4:58Speaker 2: to this country, to our due wish population, to our
- 5:01Speaker 2: national cohesion and to our national security. But the Albanezy
- 5:06Speaker 2: Labor government and the Men's Labor State government stood back, watched,
- 5:11Speaker 2: wrung their hands and did nothing. They hoped if they
- 5:14Speaker 2: just waited, it had go away. Fools, irresponsible fools. That's
- 5:21Speaker 2: why we're in this situation today. School children having to
- 5:25Speaker 2: walk past ugly and threatening graffiti targeting Jewish people this morning,
- 5:31Speaker 2: kids exposed to hatred and threats, and police are trying
- 5:35Speaker 2: to find out who was behind the caravan full of explosives,
- 5:39Speaker 2: complete with a list of targets, including a synagogue, and
- 5:43Speaker 2: determine what they planned to do with it. That's where
- 5:47Speaker 2: we are, and the situation has gotten worse week by
- 5:50Speaker 2: week along the way. And those of us, including so
- 5:54Speaker 2: many of you watching, those of us who have despaired
- 5:57Speaker 2: about the lack of strength, lack of action, and the
- 5:59Speaker 2: life lack of moral clarity from authorities and political leaders,
- 6:04Speaker 2: well now we just feel enormously deflated and angry, angry
- 6:09Speaker 2: that those with the privilege of leadership have failed to lead.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Peter Dutton has pushed for action all along. He gets
- 6:17Speaker 2: it and he wasn't holding back today speaking the unvarnished truth.
- 6:24Speaker 5: This hasn't happened just overnight, you see, it's escalated. This
- 6:27Speaker 5: is the point, and this is why I wrote to
- 6:28Speaker 5: the Prime Minister after we saw the terrible circumstances on
- 6:32Speaker 5: the steps of the Opera House two days after people
- 6:35Speaker 5: including women and children, had been slaughtered in Israel. I
- 6:38Speaker 5: wrote to the Prime Minister asking for a national cabinet
- 6:40Speaker 5: to be brought together because you could foresee that what
- 6:44Speaker 5: we saw on the steps of the Opera House by
- 6:47Speaker 5: these zealots and these protesters was going to spread. The
- 6:51Speaker 5: Prime Minister ignored that. And the Prime Minister has, for
- 6:55Speaker 5: his own political purposes, sadly and tragically decided to put
- 6:58Speaker 5: the votes of breating supporters ahead of people in the
- 7:04Speaker 5: Jewish community and in regional areas. That is the fact.
- 7:08Speaker 2: And I have not.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Seen a national leader conduct himself in such a way before.
- 7:12Speaker 5: And so when we saw the spray painting of cars
- 7:17Speaker 5: and of houses.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Did we think it was going to stop there?
- 7:19Speaker 6: No?
- 7:20Speaker 5: When you then see the bombing of a synagogue, did
- 7:23Speaker 5: we think that it was going to stop there?
- 7:25Speaker 1: No.
- 7:26Speaker 5: When we saw the bombing or the attack on a
- 7:28Speaker 5: childcare center, do we think.
- 7:29Speaker 2: It was going to stop there?
- 7:30Speaker 7: No?
- 7:31Speaker 5: And are we surprised that these people now with no
- 7:34Speaker 5: red lines, having masqueraded as protesters when really they're just
- 7:41Speaker 5: racist bigots who have been protesting on university campuses for
- 7:45Speaker 5: months without the Prime Minister doing anything. Should we act
- 7:49Speaker 5: surprise that this is escalated now to an attempt to
- 7:51Speaker 5: terrorist attack? No, we shouldn't and the Prime Minister needs
- 7:55Speaker 5: to show national leadership here to deal with the national crisis.
- 7:58Speaker 2: And so far there's been no sign of it. This
- 8:01Speaker 2: is so bad, so bad for Jewish Australians who have
- 8:05Speaker 2: been left exposed and vulnerable thanks to a recklessly pathetic
- 8:09Speaker 2: response from state governments in New South Wales and Victoria,
- 8:12Speaker 2: and especially from the federal government. Let me show you
- 8:15Speaker 2: what the Federal Treasurer said today, arguably the second most
- 8:19Speaker 2: important person in the federal government. Listen to what he
- 8:22Speaker 2: said today. After more than fifteen months of anti Semitism,
- 8:26Speaker 2: graffiti attacks, fire bombings of cars, firebombings of a synagogue
- 8:31Speaker 2: and of a childcare center, are now explosives found and
- 8:36Speaker 2: this is what he says.
- 8:38Speaker 8: This is obviously a terrifying development. And what it shows
- 8:42Speaker 8: is that the fears that a lot of Australians in
- 8:46Speaker 8: the Jewish community have are not always unfounded.
- 8:50Speaker 2: The fears of Jewish Australians are not always unfounded. What
- 8:56Speaker 2: is he saying? What planet has he been on? Has
- 9:00Speaker 2: he heard of the Holocaust? Does he know what happened
- 9:03Speaker 2: on October the seventh? Has he not seen the hatred,
- 9:06Speaker 2: the bile and the anti Semitic attacks in Australia for
- 9:09Speaker 2: the past fifteen months. What a disgrace because look at this.
- 9:15Speaker 2: It wasn't a slip of the tongue.
- 9:17Speaker 8: This is a chilling course of events, deeply troubling, unsettling,
- 9:23Speaker 8: and what it shows is that the fears in the
- 9:26Speaker 8: Jewish community are not always unfounded when it comes to
- 9:30Speaker 8: the potential for these kind of violent acts. The revelations
- 9:34Speaker 8: in the last day or so of this planned mass
- 9:38Speaker 8: casualty event, you can see that some of the fear
- 9:43Speaker 8: that Jewish Australians have is not unfounded.
- 9:48Speaker 2: This is all you need to know. Right at the
- 9:50Speaker 2: upper echelons of the Albanese government, they don't take the
- 9:54Speaker 2: threat to Jewish Australians seriously. Apparently these fears are sometimes unfounded.
- 10:00Speaker 2: What a disgrace and what dangerous ignorance. Charmers has since
- 10:05Speaker 2: put out a statement apologizing for failing to express himself
- 10:08Speaker 2: more clearly, but he said the same thing three times
- 10:11Speaker 2: in three different interviews. We're starting to see some leaders
- 10:16Speaker 2: scale up their language.
- 10:18Speaker 9: It is utterly appalling and shameful that an individual would
- 10:22Speaker 9: spray racist, hate filled messages on a school that tells
- 10:26Speaker 9: you everything you need to know about how appalling these
- 10:30Speaker 9: bastards are. That they would rip apart a school on
- 10:34Speaker 9: one of the first days of school with a racist,
- 10:38Speaker 9: anti Semitic attack. It is antithetical to everything that Australia
- 10:41Speaker 9: represents in twenty twenty five. There are some terrible people
- 10:45Speaker 9: in our community. I'm ashamed to say it, but that's
- 10:48Speaker 9: the truth. Bad morals, bad ethics, bad people that will
- 10:52Speaker 9: commit these acts. But Australians stand united against this appalling racism.
- 10:58Speaker 9: Most Australians from every back regard this kind of hate
- 11:02Speaker 9: field activity as the opposite of what it means to
- 11:05Speaker 9: live in our country and our community in Australia in
- 11:09Speaker 9: twenty twenty five.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Men's has always been stronger than the Prime Minister on this,
- 11:14Speaker 2: but he hasn't done enough. And this is Anthony Alberonizi's
- 11:18Speaker 2: version of finally upping the ante.
- 11:22Speaker 10: There's zero tolerance in Australia for hatred and for any Semitism,
- 11:28Speaker 10: and I want any perpetrators to be hunted down and
- 11:32Speaker 10: locked up. It's as simple as that they have no
- 11:36Speaker 10: place in this sort of engagement. It's designed to create
- 11:41Speaker 10: fear and terror in the community and it will not
- 11:44Speaker 10: succeed because our community is stronger than the cowards who
- 11:51Speaker 10: engage in this sort of activity.
- 11:54Speaker 2: The wet lettuce, you see, you can't undo anyway, fifteen
- 11:59Speaker 2: months of weeks with belated attempts to talk tough. The
- 12:03Speaker 2: problem here is that the anti Jewish hatred is linked
- 12:06Speaker 2: to the political debate where those who have portrayed Hummas
- 12:10Speaker 2: as some kind of Palestinian liberation force rather than the
- 12:14Speaker 2: bloodthirsty Islamist extremists, that they are portrayed Israel as the
- 12:19Speaker 2: aggressor rather than the victim attempting to protect its people
- 12:23Speaker 2: and preserve its security. Well, those people only foment hatred
- 12:27Speaker 2: against Israel and then eventually, of course, against all Jews.
- 12:32Speaker 2: The insipid actions by Labor to support Palestinian aspirations on
- 12:37Speaker 2: the back of Humas's October the seventh horrors and to
- 12:41Speaker 2: continually call on Israel to pull back and how they
- 12:44Speaker 2: abandoned Israel at the UN and in public debate, well,
- 12:48Speaker 2: all that stuff from Albanizi, it only fuels the anti
- 12:52Speaker 2: Israel and anti Semitic toxins. Albanisi has never called for
- 12:56Speaker 2: Hummas to surrender, end its terrorism and therefore.
- 12:59Speaker 3: End the war.
- 13:00Speaker 2: His calls have always put the onus on Israel for
- 13:04Speaker 2: a ceasefile.
- 13:05Speaker 10: We want humanitarian pauses as a necessary first step. We've
- 13:10Speaker 10: said that any step on a part to ceasefire can't
- 13:15Speaker 10: be one sided. We showed the extent of our cooperation
- 13:19Speaker 10: with the joint statement we made with Canadian Prime Minister
- 13:24Speaker 10: Trudeau condemning Hamas's terror attacks on Israel, supporting urgent international
- 13:30Speaker 10: efforts towards a sustainable cease fire. Our government has consistently
- 13:34Speaker 10: and repeatedly called for a ceasefire.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Yeah, how about easy, just doesn't get it. He could
- 13:41Speaker 2: do worse than listen to the Palestinian expert who grew
- 13:44Speaker 2: up in Gaza who joined me last night.
- 13:48Speaker 11: But it is indisputable that Hamas viewed spilled Palestinian blood
- 13:53Speaker 11: as necessary to show us as victims, to show that
- 13:58Speaker 11: the bloodied Palestinian bodies and force the international community to
- 14:03Speaker 11: react against Israel.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the truth. But the protesters on the streets
- 14:09Speaker 2: and in the universities they run with the Hummas propaganda,
- 14:13Speaker 2: and too many in government and politics fall for the
- 14:16Speaker 2: same awful lies. They've accused Israel of bombing a hospital, wrong,
- 14:22Speaker 2: of targeting aid workers wrong again and of trying to
- 14:26Speaker 2: starve Palestinians. Wrong. Government leaders in this country and around
- 14:32Speaker 2: the world. They need to call these lies out, not
- 14:35Speaker 2: give credence to them. Otherwise they are fueling hatred that's
- 14:40Speaker 2: dangerous and tears our country apart. Now, just on the
- 14:48Speaker 2: police investigations into the explosives discovering and the disturbing note
- 14:52Speaker 2: indicating a synagogue as a target. You saw the media
- 14:56Speaker 2: conference live in this hour last night, but we learned
- 14:59Speaker 2: about it first through the Daily Telegraph. Police and government
- 15:03Speaker 2: had sat on this information for ten days. They only
- 15:06Speaker 2: made it public because Mark Murray and josh Hanrahan broke
- 15:10Speaker 2: the story yesterday afternoon, and when asked whether the public
- 15:13Speaker 2: should have been told earlier, the Police Commissioner today was
- 15:17Speaker 2: critical of the media.
- 15:19Speaker 12: This has been an investigation, a COVID investigation, an investigation
- 15:26Speaker 12: that requires us to go about our business without compromising investigation.
- 15:32Speaker 12: The fact that this information is now in the public
- 15:34Speaker 12: domain has compromised our investigation and it's been detrimental to
- 15:40Speaker 12: some of the strategies we may have used.
- 15:45Speaker 2: The Daily Telegraphs experienced and respected police reporter was having
- 15:49Speaker 2: none of that.
- 15:51Speaker 13: We would never compromise an investigation. As far as we
- 15:54Speaker 13: were concerned, we didn't just go bang, this is here.
- 15:57Speaker 13: We're going to put this on the internet or put
- 15:59Speaker 13: this in the paper publisher without going to the police
- 16:01Speaker 13: and saying, are we going to cause any problems here?
- 16:04Speaker 13: He could have picked up the phone at any time.
- 16:07Speaker 13: The Premier could have picked up the phone. The Prime
- 16:10Speaker 13: Minister could have picked up the phone and rung the
- 16:12Speaker 13: editor of the Daily Telegraph.
- 16:13Speaker 2: And said, can you please hold off?
- 16:15Speaker 13: This is a matter of national security and there's no
- 16:18Speaker 13: way we would run that.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Look, I'm firmly with Maury on this one. The public
- 16:23Speaker 2: deserved to know about this, and his excellent journalism unearthed
- 16:27Speaker 2: accurate information that needed to be shared, and as he said,
- 16:30Speaker 2: he took good care. What's more worrying is that police
- 16:34Speaker 2: admit they didn't even warn the targeted Jewish organizations until
- 16:39Speaker 2: the story broke.
- 16:42Speaker 12: I can confirm that the owner registered owner of that
- 16:48Speaker 12: caravan is a person that is in custody on unrelated matters.
- 16:54Speaker 12: I don't want to speculate too much more, but it's
- 16:56Speaker 12: important that the public understands not only has the caravan
- 17:01Speaker 12: been removed and the content's removed, from harm from public
- 17:05Speaker 12: from the public, but also the owner is out of
- 17:09Speaker 12: play and in custody, so the risk of the public
- 17:12Speaker 12: has been mitigated very early on.
- 17:15Speaker 2: The commissioner hardly fills you with confidence, does she, when
- 17:19Speaker 2: it comes to what these explosives and the caravan owners
- 17:22Speaker 2: were planning to do. Then this from the police is
- 17:26Speaker 2: quite disturbing.
- 17:28Speaker 14: Until we're certain of where these attacks are being orchestrated from,
- 17:33Speaker 14: and we believe that some of them are being orchestrated
- 17:36Speaker 14: by others, not the individuals. We haven't identified any of
- 17:39Speaker 14: the individuals of the time we've charged with any specific
- 17:41Speaker 14: ideology that would cause them to commit the acts that
- 17:44Speaker 14: they've committed, and that indicates to us that they are
- 17:47Speaker 14: being orchestrated in some manner.
- 17:50Speaker 2: So we could be talking about foot soldiers carrying out
- 17:53Speaker 2: operations for other organizations at home or abroad. We need
- 17:58Speaker 2: to know more as soon as possible. We also need
- 18:00Speaker 2: to know that our Jewish communities and their facilities are
- 18:03Speaker 2: being protected. But the police commissioner has rejected police for
- 18:08Speaker 2: twenty four to seven police guards.
- 18:11Speaker 15: Surely we can do that. That's not a lot of resources,
- 18:14Speaker 15: Just one police officer standing there in uniform and showing
- 18:17Speaker 15: visibly that they're in support of the Jewish community.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I have to.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Disagree with you on that one, mark, but that's not
- 18:24Speaker 1: necessarily the best use of New South Wales police resources.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Really, if it stopped just one horrible attack at a
- 18:31Speaker 2: Jewish school or a synagogue, it'll be a very worthwhile
- 18:35Speaker 2: use of police resources, wouldn't it. There is hatred afoot
- 18:39Speaker 2: and our politicians and police need to stop holding back.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Instead they need to attack it everywhere, all the time,
- 18:47Speaker 2: at every level. Now, the New South Wales Premier Chris Mins,
- 18:55Speaker 2: who you just saw, said yesterday when he was told
- 18:58Speaker 2: about the caravan and explosed discovery and he said he'd
- 19:01Speaker 2: told about it the day after police founded eleven days ago. Now,
- 19:06Speaker 2: but the Prime Minister has refused to say when he
- 19:08Speaker 2: was briefed.
- 19:10Speaker 10: I get briefed regularly by the national security agencies. We
- 19:15Speaker 10: don't talk about operational matters. Obviously.
- 19:21Speaker 2: That's a strange response and I sought reaction from Shadow
- 19:24Speaker 2: Home Affairs Minister James Patterson. Well, there's no.
- 19:27Speaker 16: Good reason not to give that answer, Chris. When Chris
- 19:31Speaker 16: Mins was asked the same question at his press conference
- 19:33Speaker 16: last night, he directly answered the question and he said
- 19:36Speaker 16: that he was briefed by New South Wales police the
- 19:38Speaker 16: next day. So the question is given that we know
- 19:40Speaker 16: that they FP was engaged, given that we know that
- 19:42Speaker 16: this is a joint canterterrorism operation, is when was the
- 19:45Speaker 16: Prime Minister briefed? Was he briefed on the same day
- 19:47Speaker 16: as Chris Mins? And if so, what action did he
- 19:50Speaker 16: take in response to this? Did he convene a National
- 19:54Speaker 16: Security Committee of Cabinet? What measures did they put in
- 19:57Speaker 16: place to protect the Jewish community and all austraight, what
- 20:00Speaker 16: reassurance did they provide the Jewish community based on their
- 20:03Speaker 16: knowledge of this incident? Or if in fact he was
- 20:06Speaker 16: not briefed, then we need to understand why, because if
- 20:09Speaker 16: the New South Borol's premier knows for the Prime Minister
- 20:11Speaker 16: should surely know.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it is intriguing and we'll wait and find out
- 20:16Speaker 2: more about that. I'm fairly intrigued also by the attitude
- 20:20Speaker 2: of the federal Labor government to what's happened.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I think that's been betrayed a bit today by.
- 20:24Speaker 2: A comment repeated three times by the Federal Treasurer Jim Charmers.
- 20:29Speaker 2: He says that this latest episode shows that the fears
- 20:34Speaker 2: of Jewish Australians are not always unfounded? Is he saying
- 20:40Speaker 2: that their fears are often unfounded?
- 20:45Speaker 16: But I think Chris, that's the only interpretation that you
- 20:48Speaker 16: can make from those comments. If someone's fears are not
- 20:51Speaker 16: always unfounded, then at the very least sometimes their fears
- 20:54Speaker 16: are unfounded. And did it really take an incident as
- 20:58Speaker 16: bad as this for Jim Charmers to realized that the
- 21:00Speaker 16: Jewish community had very good reason to be concerned. Wasn't
- 21:04Speaker 16: the fire bombing of a childcare center enough? Wasn't the
- 21:06Speaker 16: fire bombing of a synagogue enough? Wasn't the fire bombing
- 21:09Speaker 16: and graffiti of cars and houses enough? Wasn't all the
- 21:13Speaker 16: threats of violence and chance of death to Israel and
- 21:15Speaker 16: the Jewish community? Wasn't the waving of the flags of
- 21:18Speaker 16: listed terrorist organization? Weren't all those things enough to have
- 21:22Speaker 16: well founded fears? I think this is an extraordinary slip
- 21:25Speaker 16: up by the Treasurer and he should do the decent
- 21:28Speaker 16: thing and say that he misspoke.
- 21:29Speaker 2: If you need he did mistake, well, it's sickening and
- 21:32Speaker 2: it's deeply worrying. You could go back to October the
- 21:35Speaker 2: eighth and say we had Islamists on the streets of
- 21:38Speaker 2: lakember and Sydney, celebrating the atrocities as a day of
- 21:42Speaker 2: triumph in Australia. Why would your fears not be fully
- 21:46Speaker 2: founded on that very day more than fifteen months ago. Now,
- 21:49Speaker 2: I'd be very critical of the government for their lack
- 21:52Speaker 2: of rhetoric. They haven't pushed back against this stuff hard
- 21:54Speaker 2: enough since October the eighth, in the day afterwards, back
- 21:57Speaker 2: in twenty twenty three. I don't know how they catch
- 22:01Speaker 2: up on that. But is there anything else they need
- 22:03Speaker 2: to be doing now when it comes to police action,
- 22:06Speaker 2: security action, or indeed new laws.
- 22:12Speaker 16: I think there's plenty of things that they could do
- 22:13Speaker 16: and should still do, But I agree I'm not sure
- 22:16Speaker 16: this government is going to do it. He is a
- 22:17Speaker 16: couple of ideas that we've provided for them that they've
- 22:20Speaker 16: not taken up. Mandatory minimum sentences for comwealth terrorist offenses
- 22:24Speaker 16: of at least six years would stend a strong message
- 22:27Speaker 16: of deterrence to these people. It would also keep them
- 22:29Speaker 16: off the streets to protect the community and give a
- 22:31Speaker 16: sense of justice to the victims of these attacks. They
- 22:35Speaker 16: could also have manatary minimum sentence for the public display
- 22:38Speaker 16: of listed symbols of listed terrorist organizations because people are
- 22:42Speaker 16: behaving with impunity in relation to that. They could make
- 22:45Speaker 16: sure that state and federal police and our national security
- 22:47Speaker 16: agencies are working seamlessly together. They could fix our federal
- 22:51Speaker 16: anti incitement legislation, which had a bill before the parliament
- 22:55Speaker 16: last year that would have gone some way to remedying it,
- 22:58Speaker 16: and the opposition offered ours to facilitate it, but no
- 23:01Speaker 16: passage of that legislation was source. That's just a couple
- 23:04Speaker 16: of suggestions that we've made. I can keep going though.
- 23:06Speaker 16: They could actually deport some of the people who are
- 23:08Speaker 16: on visas engage in this rhetoric. I mean, there's just
- 23:10Speaker 16: so much it needs to be done.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Chris, Yeah, absolutely. Look, a lot of this hatred, the
- 23:14Speaker 2: aty Semitism, we've seen the rising tide of it now
- 23:17Speaker 2: for more than fifteen months. A lot of it can't
- 23:20Speaker 2: be divorced from the political debate. Now should surely in
- 23:24Speaker 2: this country people should be able to debate the Middle
- 23:26Speaker 2: East issue. You can criticize Israel, I think around the
- 23:29Speaker 2: margins I suppose as to how it defends itself. But
- 23:32Speaker 2: when you have so much political rhetoric and so much
- 23:36Speaker 2: protest action, I suppose, uncorrected or uncriticized, that portrays Israel
- 23:41Speaker 2: as the aggressor that fails to call out the Islamist
- 23:44Speaker 2: terrorist aspect of Hummas and portrays them instead as freedom fighters,
- 23:49Speaker 2: then it's little wonder that the hatred towards Jewish Australians
- 23:53Speaker 2: builds up. And I think this is where Anthony Alberinezi,
- 23:55Speaker 2: Penny Wong and others have been absolutely absent without.
- 23:59Speaker 16: Leave, I completely agree with you, Chris Albanesi. Government has
- 24:05Speaker 16: not only been weak and ineffectual in their response to
- 24:07Speaker 16: the domestic antisemitism crisis, in some ways, they've contributed to
- 24:11Speaker 16: it and fuelled it by their own behavior and their
- 24:13Speaker 16: own actions. Let's remember that the Prime Minister implied that
- 24:17Speaker 16: Israel deliberately murdered an Australian aid workers zombie Francom, when
- 24:21Speaker 16: it subsequently turned out to be just a terrible mistake,
- 24:25Speaker 16: a tragedy that shouldn't have happened, but not a deliberate murder.
- 24:28Speaker 16: A foreign minister compared Israel to authoritarian states like China
- 24:32Speaker 16: and Russia. Our Home Affairs minister, our education minister, and
- 24:35Speaker 16: our industry minister have basically been running their own personal
- 24:38Speaker 16: foreign policy and they repeatedly accused Israel of being guilty
- 24:42Speaker 16: of genocide or other crimes against humanity, including collective punishment.
- 24:46Speaker 16: It is no wonder, then, when we know that anti
- 24:49Speaker 16: Semites draw no distinction between the State of Israel and
- 24:52Speaker 16: the Jewish community here in Australia, that they have been
- 24:55Speaker 16: inboldant they've been involved on this government's watch because of
- 24:57Speaker 16: this government's actions.
- 25:00Speaker 2: If this is something that the Israeli government has pointed
- 25:02Speaker 2: out itself, exactly right.
- 25:07Speaker 16: And bilateral relations between Australia and Israel have never been
- 25:10Speaker 16: at a lower point than they are today. And that's
- 25:12Speaker 16: a problem for all Australians because Israeli is our most
- 25:15Speaker 16: important intelligence partner outside the Five Eyes intelligence sharing arrangement.
- 25:19Speaker 16: They provided actionable intelligence intelligence on multiple occasions which has
- 25:23Speaker 16: prevented attacks on Australian soldiers in the Middle East and
- 25:26Speaker 16: domestic terrorist attacks here. And we want that relationship to
- 25:30Speaker 16: be strong. But it's been trashed on this government's watch,
- 25:32Speaker 16: not least of which by our votes for extreme one
- 25:35Speaker 16: sided anti Israel motions at the United Nations.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Very worrying times. James Patterson, thanks so much for joining us.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Thank you, Chris. Now the powers that be in the
- 25:47Speaker 2: Albaneasi Labor government will watch what James Patterson said there
- 25:51Speaker 2: and they'll read the transcript. What has he said in
- 25:55Speaker 2: there that they could possibly disagree with? And why don't
- 25:58Speaker 2: they do as he's suggests. I'm just confounded by their
- 26:02Speaker 2: weakness and in action.
- 26:03Speaker 3: On this issue.
- 26:04Speaker 2: I have been, as you know, for more than fifteen months,
- 26:07Speaker 2: and yet still we get nothing from them. I want
- 26:09Speaker 2: to go down to Queensland to catch up with the
- 26:11Speaker 2: One Nation leader and founder Pauline Hanson joining us from
- 26:13Speaker 2: Scenic Grim. Good to talk to you for the first
- 26:15Speaker 2: time this year, Pauline.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Very troubling times though.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Can you understand why the alban Easy Labor government has
- 26:23Speaker 2: been so weak and ineffective when it comes to tackling
- 26:27Speaker 2: anti Semitism here and why even now they don't seem
- 26:29Speaker 2: to wake up. They don't him to understand, seem to
- 26:31Speaker 2: understand what they're doing wrong.
- 26:36Speaker 17: Their side of politics does not support the israel people
- 26:39Speaker 17: and what has happened that it's quite evident they are
- 26:42Speaker 17: worrying about the votes and the inner city suburbs where
- 26:46Speaker 17: we have a huge numbers of Muslims living there and
- 26:50Speaker 17: those electorates, which has MPs from the Labor Party.
- 26:56Speaker 1: It's all political.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Chris, I totally.
- 26:58Speaker 17: Agree with what Patterson are saying and where we need
- 27:02Speaker 17: to go with this policy. But Chris, I'll go a
- 27:04Speaker 17: bit further. We need to look at these countries we're
- 27:06Speaker 17: bringing out migrants from or giving them permanent residency from
- 27:11Speaker 17: countries that support Hamas they are anti Israel, these people
- 27:16Speaker 17: who have the hatred people where we could see terrorism
- 27:19Speaker 17: come from these countries and problems that they have over there.
- 27:22Speaker 17: Just close the borders, do not allow these people to
- 27:24Speaker 17: migrate to Australia. I'm sorry, it's a tough stance on
- 27:27Speaker 17: those people, but when you have at the gaza in
- 27:30Speaker 17: Palestine seventy five percent of the people they're support mass
- 27:34Speaker 17: We're going to be important to the men as we
- 27:36Speaker 17: have done, stop them coming into the country and send
- 27:39Speaker 17: a clear message. We have a country here of over
- 27:42Speaker 17: one hundred and seventy different nationalities. We have been a
- 27:46Speaker 17: country that's basically in peace. We've never seen so much
- 27:50Speaker 17: unrest on our streets over the last fifteen to seventeen
- 27:54Speaker 17: months due to what's happened in Israel with these Palaestan
- 27:57Speaker 17: Stelians that are pushing their own agen that they own oleology.
- 28:02Speaker 17: Stupid Australians are out there who have no idea what
- 28:06Speaker 17: who Hamas is. They have no idea of the history
- 28:09Speaker 17: of Israel and what's going on the past, but they'll
- 28:12Speaker 17: go out there, insane freedom fighter, Stop the fighting, all
- 28:15Speaker 17: the rest of it that goes far beyond that, Chris,
- 28:18Speaker 17: I think there's.
- 28:19Speaker 2: A fundamental lack of understanding about the evils of Islamistic extremism,
- 28:23Speaker 2: and I don't think government's successive governments have done enough
- 28:26Speaker 2: to tackle it. There's a bit of talk about it
- 28:28Speaker 2: after nine to eleven, a bit of talk about it after.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Bali, but we just let it slide.
- 28:33Speaker 2: And then you have the situation where I've shown that
- 28:35Speaker 2: shocking footage of the Sikh cheering on in Triumph the
- 28:39Speaker 2: day after October the seventh, celebrating on an Australian street
- 28:43Speaker 2: the slaughter of babies and women and innocent people. That
- 28:47Speaker 2: bloke is a shake in Australia.
- 28:50Speaker 18: And he's connected to an organization called his Book to Rear,
- 28:53Speaker 18: which is allowed to operate.
- 28:55Speaker 3: In Australia, even though it's a band.
- 28:57Speaker 18: It's banned in Egypt, Indonesia, it's banned in Saudia in
- 29:00Speaker 18: the UK. Why do we allow that Islamist organization to
- 29:05Speaker 18: operate here?
- 29:08Speaker 17: Because the politicians and everyone are dead scared of them. Chris,
- 29:12Speaker 17: I've been speaking about this for years. Look what's happened
- 29:15Speaker 17: in England. They've lost their countries. You've got areas there
- 29:20Speaker 17: and in France that no one, not in the police, politicians,
- 29:23Speaker 17: no one can enter it without their authority. And I'm
- 29:26Speaker 17: telling you as happening here. And the problem is the
- 29:29Speaker 17: politicians are in fear. The police told me years ago.
- 29:33Speaker 17: If they go into some of these areas there, they're
- 29:35Speaker 17: surrounded by the people.
- 29:37Speaker 3: The word goes.
- 29:37Speaker 17: Out, the cars come out, they surround the police. The
- 29:40Speaker 17: police are not backed up by their own authorities, your
- 29:44Speaker 17: own administration. They get the hell out of there because
- 29:47Speaker 17: the threats made against them. This is happening in our
- 29:50Speaker 17: own country, and so the politicians are stead scared that
- 29:54Speaker 17: they will come after them. And that's why everyone's pulling
- 29:58Speaker 17: back on it. That's why no one will see speak
- 30:00Speaker 17: out about this. It'll become a country. We're going to
- 30:02Speaker 17: end up like England and France, and we will lose
- 30:05Speaker 17: control of places that we're going and especially if they
- 30:08Speaker 17: get control in the Parliament. That is a big problem.
- 30:11Speaker 17: And I've said it fears and I'll keep saying it
- 30:13Speaker 17: until people wake up.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Pauline Hanson, thanks for joining us. A lot of people
- 30:17Speaker 2: will disagree with Pauline Hanson. She's right in the main.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Some people wouldn't go as far, but there is no
- 30:23Speaker 2: doubt that we need to tackle Islamist extremism in our country.
- 30:28Speaker 2: How can we tackle it? And it's the best thing,
- 30:30Speaker 2: believe me. Most moderate Muslims in this country want it
- 30:34Speaker 2: tackled as well. But how can we tackle it properly
- 30:36Speaker 2: in this country when our politicians are even afraid to
- 30:40Speaker 2: mention the term. I want to go to the Jewish
- 30:43Speaker 2: community now, and I'm joined by David Adler, who heads
- 30:47Speaker 2: up but the Australian Jewish Association.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Good to talk to you.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Again David, but frightening times for you. You've been warning about
- 30:53Speaker 2: the escalation of anti Semitism. You get to a stage
- 30:56Speaker 2: whether explosives involved. What I should stay bag to find
- 31:00Speaker 2: out was that the police had not even informed Jewish
- 31:04Speaker 2: organizations of this discovery.
- 31:06Speaker 3: And this threat until news broke in the media.
- 31:09Speaker 7: Well, I can confirm that as far as our organization
- 31:12Speaker 7: is concerned. We had no official notification that this escalation
- 31:18Speaker 7: had been discovered. We only found out about it when
- 31:23Speaker 7: the Daily Telegraph broke the story and it was taken
- 31:25Speaker 7: up very quickly across the media.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Very widely.
- 31:29Speaker 7: And I hope that the police have very very strong
- 31:34Speaker 7: reasons for keeping it under wraps because our community is
- 31:40Speaker 7: obviously the one that was targeted by this threat. It
- 31:44Speaker 7: is a serious escalation and I think that people would
- 31:50Speaker 7: deserve to know so that they can decide fully informed
- 31:54Speaker 7: what precautions they wish to take.
- 31:55Speaker 2: We've had cars firebombs in Wallara twice in the eastern
- 31:59Speaker 2: suburbs of Sydney. We've had a childcare center firebomb in
- 32:03Speaker 2: Maruba on the eastern beaches of Sydney. We've had more
- 32:06Speaker 2: graffiti attacks. I know a lot of Jewish schools and
- 32:10Speaker 2: organizations have their own security. Do you need more protection
- 32:14Speaker 2: from police?
- 32:17Speaker 7: Unfortunately we do. But what we would very very much
- 32:23Speaker 7: prefer is that the causes be addressed. Now you've spent
- 32:29Speaker 7: some of your show discussing potential actions, and this is
- 32:36Speaker 7: what's necessary. Rather than hide behind a shield, we need
- 32:41Speaker 7: to address the perpetrators. Now I can express I think
- 32:48Speaker 7: a bit of cynicism here, and I think it is
- 32:50Speaker 7: justified cynicism. We have seen within the last couple of
- 32:55Speaker 7: months more attention and more focus from the police. As
- 33:01Speaker 7: you pointed out in your introduction on the eighth of October.
- 33:03Speaker 7: On the ninth of October twenty twenty three, we already
- 33:07Speaker 7: saw the seeds of this very obviously, and it's only
- 33:12Speaker 7: recently that we're starting to see action. And why well,
- 33:17Speaker 7: I would suggest two reasons. One is it's become a
- 33:19Speaker 7: major public issue. It's being discussed everywhere and people are
- 33:26Speaker 7: seeing it. And the second is, frankly, that we've got
- 33:28Speaker 7: a federal election learning and it's probably those two things
- 33:32Speaker 7: which is starting to focus the minds of the politician
- 33:35Speaker 7: and our law enforcement authorities. But we need the causes addressed,
- 33:41Speaker 7: and yes, in the short term, we need additional protection.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Just quickly on that.
- 33:44Speaker 2: I want to show you what the police commissioners said
- 33:47Speaker 2: to Mark Levy on TWGB this morning when she was
- 33:50Speaker 2: asked whether there should be twenty four to seven police
- 33:53Speaker 2: at schools and synagogues.
- 33:55Speaker 15: Surely we can do that. It's not a lot of resources,
- 33:58Speaker 15: just one police officer standing there in uniform and showing
- 34:02Speaker 15: visibly that they're in support of the Jewish community. I
- 34:05Speaker 15: have to.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Disagree with you on that one, Mark, but that's not
- 34:08Speaker 1: necessarily the best use of New South Wales police resources.
- 34:12Speaker 2: David Adler. Surely that would be a good use of
- 34:14Speaker 2: police resources in the short term.
- 34:17Speaker 7: Absolutely. I mean in visible policing is an important deterrent.
- 34:20Speaker 7: There's a huge burden on the community at the moment
- 34:23Speaker 7: with regard to the security and I would have thought
- 34:26Speaker 7: that the government and police forces that's what they're for.
- 34:29Speaker 2: David Adela, thanks for joining us. Thank you, Chris, David
- 34:31Speaker 2: ada there from the Australian Jewish Association. We've got to
- 34:33Speaker 2: take a break. On the other side, I'll update you
- 34:35Speaker 2: on that horrible crash in Washington, DC, and I'll catch
- 34:38Speaker 2: up with former Foreign Minister Alexander Downer. Let me just
- 34:46Speaker 2: update you on that breaking news of the airline crash
- 34:49Speaker 2: that occurred this afternoon our time, and American Airlines flight
- 34:53Speaker 2: has collided with a Blackhawk military helicopter as it was
- 34:56Speaker 2: approaching Reagan Washington National Airport for landing right in the
- 35:01Speaker 2: middle of Washington, DC alongside the Potomac. The airline was confirmed.
- 35:06Speaker 2: The airline company is confirmed that the plane was carrying
- 35:08Speaker 2: sixty passengers plus four crew, and there were three military
- 35:13Speaker 2: personnel on the black Hawk helicopter. There are currently three
- 35:17Speaker 2: hundred emergency responders carrying out rescues are looking for people
- 35:21Speaker 2: in the frigid and icy waters of the Potomac River.
- 35:25Speaker 2: President Donald Trump has been briefed on the situation. This
- 35:28Speaker 2: crash site is about three miles as the crow flies
- 35:32Speaker 2: from the White House, and he's praised the incredible work
- 35:35Speaker 2: of emergency services. Will bring you any updates as the
- 35:39Speaker 2: evening progresses. Now, I want to go to former Foreign
- 35:42Speaker 2: Minister Alexander Downer joining me live from Adelaide. Shocking news
- 35:45Speaker 2: there for Washington.
- 35:46Speaker 19: Alexander, Yes, it's an extraordinary tragedy. It's hard to know
- 35:54Speaker 19: how that could possibly have happened. But a great tragedy,
- 35:58Speaker 19: no doubt about that.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Speaking of great tragedies, I think the situation in Australia
- 36:04Speaker 2: at the moment is tragic. We've spoken about it before,
- 36:07Speaker 2: the development and rising tide of anti Semitism in this country.
- 36:11Speaker 2: It continues to escalate with attacks on childcare centers and
- 36:15Speaker 2: graffiti on schools. But the revelation that eleven days ago
- 36:20Speaker 2: police uncovered explosives in an apparent terrorist plot is just frightening.
- 36:29Speaker 19: Well, the thing to do is to take cast your
- 36:33Speaker 19: mind back to when all of this started. This we
- 36:37Speaker 19: might call explosion of anti Semitism came straight after Hamas
- 36:42Speaker 19: attacked Israel, killed a couple of thousand people and took
- 36:49Speaker 19: a lot of hostages. The immediate reaction of some people
- 36:54Speaker 19: was not just to applaud that, but to hold rallies
- 36:57Speaker 19: in support of Hamas, and the response of the federal
- 37:02Speaker 19: government to some extent the state governments, but in particular
- 37:06Speaker 19: the response of the federal government was very guarded, very cautious,
- 37:12Speaker 19: and very loath to condemn the people who immediately caused
- 37:18Speaker 19: that upheaval and mounted those protests. And this all goes
- 37:22Speaker 19: back to that, and of course, you know we've heard
- 37:25Speaker 19: it from others on this program. The obvious reason why
- 37:28Speaker 19: the Albanese government didn't condemn this outburst of anti semitism
- 37:34Speaker 19: right at the beginning was domestic politics. They are worried
- 37:38Speaker 19: about losing votes in inner city seats, in particular in
- 37:43Speaker 19: Sydney but also in Melbourne and elsewhere to the Greens
- 37:48Speaker 19: by being seen to be siding with Israel, which has
- 37:51Speaker 19: always been Australia's position, And if they had made it
- 37:56Speaker 19: perfectly clear a matter of principle that they were totally
- 38:00Speaker 19: opposed to terror acts of terrorism and given traditional Australian
- 38:05Speaker 19: support for Israel and condemn these sorts of protests, then
- 38:10Speaker 19: I think anti Semitism would have died down, but it's
- 38:14Speaker 19: just been allowed to burn.
- 38:16Speaker 2: I think there are two other aspects that really trouble me.
- 38:19Speaker 2: One is there's a sense that police are very tentative
- 38:22Speaker 2: about taking on some of these angry mobs. They don't
- 38:25Speaker 2: want to be accused of being Islamophobic, they don't want
- 38:28Speaker 2: to inflame any culture wars, so they allow Islamist extremists
- 38:33Speaker 2: protests and preachers just they stand back and they hope
- 38:37Speaker 2: if they're quiet, it will go away.
- 38:39Speaker 3: And as we've seen, that's not happened.
- 38:41Speaker 2: But secondly, the political debate, if you have politicians and
- 38:45Speaker 2: academics and others portraying Hamas as some sort of legitimate
- 38:49Speaker 2: liberation force rather than the horrible terrorist outfit they are,
- 38:54Speaker 2: and constantly portraying Israel as the aggressor, of course it
- 38:58Speaker 2: only fuels these sorts of passions.
- 39:03Speaker 19: Yes, I mean, I wouldn't blame the police, although it
- 39:08Speaker 19: does remind me that when I've been in the UK,
- 39:11Speaker 19: there are allegations there of two tier policing, that the
- 39:14Speaker 19: police don't police the activities of Muslim activists to the
- 39:21Speaker 19: extent they do of others. But that's a debate for
- 39:25Speaker 19: the UK. I wouldn't blame the police. I would blame
- 39:28Speaker 19: the politicians because I think the politicians are telling the
- 39:32Speaker 19: police what they want and what their sensitivities are, and
- 39:37Speaker 19: I think the politicians have been telling them to go
- 39:40Speaker 19: easy on these sort of protests and these anti Israeli movements.
- 39:47Speaker 19: I don't think there's any doubt about that. I also
- 39:50Speaker 19: blame the universities and the academics. The behavior of some
- 39:54Speaker 19: academics and universities, as we've seen recently from the Queensland
- 39:59Speaker 19: University of Technology and their Dutton jew cartoon, is absolutely
- 40:08Speaker 19: absolutely reprehensible, and I think again the government should be
- 40:13Speaker 19: talking to the universities and getting them to crack down
- 40:17Speaker 19: on this sort of anti semitism, just as some members
- 40:21Speaker 19: of the US Congress did with the American universities. But
- 40:25Speaker 19: in Australia nothing much has happened.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Nothing much has happened.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Indeed, well said Alexander Downer, thanks for joining us former
- 40:31Speaker 2: Foreign Minister Alexander down Of there live from Adelaide. We've
- 40:34Speaker 2: got to take a break. On the other side of that,
- 40:36Speaker 2: our panel, Tim Blair and Mark Nicholson see if they
- 40:39Speaker 2: can make sense of a horrid week. Okay, let's catch
- 40:46Speaker 2: up with Tim Blair from the Daily Telegraph and Mark
- 40:49Speaker 2: Nicholson from step Mate Studio. Is good to have to together.
- 40:52Speaker 2: And again, gentlemen, there's so much bad news around today.
- 40:55Speaker 2: I thought we'd start off with something a little flippant,
- 40:58Speaker 2: a little bit lighthearted, although it's not supposed to be.
- 41:01Speaker 18: And I have to warn everyone at the home don't
- 41:03Speaker 18: throw stuff at your TV again because I'm going to
- 41:06Speaker 18: show you the latest social media post from Chris Bowen.
- 41:10Speaker 20: You can say the wind doesn't always blow, when the
- 41:12Speaker 20: sun doesn't always shine, well, the rain doesn't always fall either.
- 41:14Speaker 20: When we manage to store the water, we can store
- 41:16Speaker 20: the renewable energy if we have the investment, and that
- 41:19Speaker 20: is investment that has been lacking for the last decade.
- 41:22Speaker 7: That's the problem.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Mark.
- 41:24Speaker 3: If we can store water, we can store electricity.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Apparently the solution is for everyone to install an electricity
- 41:31Speaker 2: tank on their house mate. This blow is off.
- 41:36Speaker 6: Even the graphics of that video is just off as well.
- 41:38Speaker 6: By the way, it's just absolutely terrible. You can't even
- 41:41Speaker 6: afford the energy to run his computer on a new
- 41:43Speaker 6: update of Photoshop to be honest or Adobe Premiere. It's
- 41:47Speaker 6: absolutely back in the nineties. And then we're talking about
- 41:49Speaker 6: Snowy Hydro the other day when I did an episode
- 41:52Speaker 6: of Please Explain on Snowy Hydro two point zero and
- 41:54Speaker 6: the amount of money that's gone into that black hole,
- 41:56Speaker 6: that's scary.
- 41:58Speaker 3: What's going into that?
- 41:59Speaker 6: And this is the sort of bloke that keeps throwing
- 42:00Speaker 6: in good money after bad billions and billions of dollars
- 42:04Speaker 6: for this what is essentially just a big water battery.
- 42:07Speaker 6: They've got to go. It's just we've got to have it.
- 42:09Speaker 2: We have enough of this. It's all over.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Come on, fig out, Tim.
- 42:12Speaker 2: I think the Liberal Party could do worse than just
- 42:14Speaker 2: to republish, repost all of Chris Bowen's social media Well.
- 42:19Speaker 21: Is he aiming to win a second election for the
- 42:22Speaker 21: Coalition because he's done it before, the boy Who's got
- 42:24Speaker 21: form In twenty nineteen, he ripped defeat from the jewels
- 42:29Speaker 21: of victory very effectively like this simplistic, play schooled nature
- 42:35Speaker 21: of this announcement that you know, if you can store water,
- 42:37Speaker 21: you can store this other stuff there other stuff you know,
- 42:40Speaker 21: by the way, we can store petrol and we can
- 42:42Speaker 21: store them in petrol stations and get them and if
- 42:45Speaker 21: you want to be in a car you can discover
- 42:47Speaker 21: it there as well.
- 42:50Speaker 18: He just needs to do a post where he says,
- 42:52Speaker 18: if you don't want me to be Energy Minister anymore,
- 42:54Speaker 18: vote Coalition and that'll be.
- 42:57Speaker 3: A winner for him.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Now, speaking of that, you've been hot on this for
- 43:01Speaker 2: a long while.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Tim.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Look at the latest factory fire in Melbourne today.
- 43:06Speaker 13: Authorities made aware of the fire at eight point thirty am.
- 43:10Speaker 13: It's understood the triple zero caller reported lithium batteries had caught.
- 43:14Speaker 22: Fire, batteries exploding like gunshots, and then all the smoke
- 43:19Speaker 22: started and then it.
- 43:20Speaker 20: Was just black and just doesn't stop in a battery place.
- 43:24Speaker 2: You've got to get carrises and lads and things. You
- 43:26Speaker 2: can really smell it.
- 43:27Speaker 3: It's not good at all.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Okay, we'll wait a confirmation from proper investigations, but it
- 43:32Speaker 2: sounds like batteries involveding in Tim.
- 43:35Speaker 21: Absolutely and you know, I know we occasionally make a
- 43:38Speaker 21: bit of fun of people who are still wearing the masks.
- 43:40Speaker 21: But I'll tell you what, if you're around a lithium
- 43:43Speaker 21: battery fire and you're smelling that incredibly unnatural and chemically
- 43:47Speaker 21: loaded kind of smell that you get from that those
- 43:49Speaker 21: types of fires, I think we'd all be wearing masks,
- 43:52Speaker 21: you know, double triple roogle masks, because that is that's
- 43:55Speaker 21: not a healthy that's not a healthy cloud.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Now, Mark, I've got to get your thoughts on this.
- 44:00Speaker 2: So I'm all in favor of people having flexibility at work.
- 44:02Speaker 3: We will understand how that's a good.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Thing these days.
- 44:05Speaker 18: But I love the way Donald Trump has told the
- 44:08Speaker 18: federal government workers in the US it's time to turn
- 44:10Speaker 18: up in the office, and he's actually cranked it up
- 44:13Speaker 18: a little bit in the last twenty four hours.
- 44:16Speaker 23: We don't want them to work from home, because, as
- 44:18Speaker 23: everyone knows, most of the time they're not working, they're
- 44:22Speaker 23: not very productive. If they don't agree by February six
- 44:26Speaker 23: to show up back to work in their office, they
- 44:29Speaker 23: will be terminated and we will therefore be downscaling our government,
- 44:33Speaker 23: which is something that the last ten presidents have tried
- 44:38Speaker 23: very hard to do.
- 44:39Speaker 2: But failed.
- 44:41Speaker 18: That's a great way to get smaller government, isn't it.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Mate. I love this.
- 44:46Speaker 6: I absolutely love this as a bloke who runs a
- 44:48Speaker 6: very small operation but having staff all the time, asking
- 44:52Speaker 6: for four day work weeks, more public holidays, working from home,
- 44:55Speaker 6: just to see him coming here. Not muck about, just
- 44:57Speaker 6: get it done, pull the string. It was a brief
- 45:00Speaker 6: time when I was at UNI. I worked for a
- 45:01Speaker 6: couple of days at the Department of Justice and I
- 45:03Speaker 6: got yelled at at the Water Corps by one of
- 45:06Speaker 6: the people there that said, hey, settle down, you're making
- 45:08Speaker 6: us look bad just because I stayed back.
- 45:12Speaker 3: The federal government over there.
- 45:13Speaker 6: If I was a taxpayer, I would hate the idea
- 45:15Speaker 6: that my taxpayer money you're going to people who are
- 45:17Speaker 6: staying home, staying there pajamas, not working. If you're any
- 45:20Speaker 6: taxpayer money, you should be working extra hard because it's
- 45:23Speaker 6: such a gift to be in a job like that.
- 45:25Speaker 2: It's awesome. I love this. Some federal government departments in Australia,
- 45:29Speaker 2: in Canberra have seventy percent of their people working from home,
- 45:33Speaker 2: so this is something that may be Peter Dutt. In
- 45:35Speaker 2: order to follow up here.
- 45:36Speaker 18: I do want to go to a new star of
- 45:38Speaker 18: politics around the world. We didn't get time because of
- 45:41Speaker 18: the press conference to show her last night.
- 45:43Speaker 3: She's Caroline Leavitt.
- 45:45Speaker 2: She's Donald Trump's new press secretary. She's only twenty seven
- 45:48Speaker 2: years old, a young mother, and man, can she handle.
- 45:52Speaker 3: These dudes in the press pack? Have a look?
- 45:55Speaker 22: Are you three or five hundred arrests aces me so
- 45:57Speaker 22: far since President Trump came back into office.
- 46:00Speaker 11: Can you just tell us the numbers?
- 46:01Speaker 22: How many have a criminal record versus those who are
- 46:04Speaker 22: just in the country illegally, all of them because they
- 46:06Speaker 22: illegally broke our nation's laws, and therefore they are criminals
- 46:08Speaker 22: as far as this administration goes. I know the last
- 46:10Speaker 22: administration didn't see it that way. So it's a big
- 46:12Speaker 22: culture shift in our nation to view someone who breaks
- 46:15Speaker 22: our immigration laws as a criminal. But that's exactly what
- 46:17Speaker 22: they are.
- 46:20Speaker 10: They all had a criminal record.
- 46:21Speaker 22: And welcome to the if they broke our nation's laws,
- 46:23Speaker 22: yes they are criminal.
- 46:25Speaker 3: Tim sheesus straight.
- 46:28Speaker 21: I just love love the actual the whole question, like
- 46:33Speaker 21: how many of these illegal immigrants are I legal? That
- 46:36Speaker 21: was that was the bottom of the question, the criminality
- 46:42Speaker 21: of these criminals. Could you define that criminality? And then
- 46:46Speaker 21: the straight answer happens, and they're all sort of taken aback.
- 46:48Speaker 21: What's happening here. It's as though we're looking at pre
- 46:52Speaker 21: and post Cold War Russia or something. You know, It's
- 46:55Speaker 21: like they're all saying, you know, but according to the
- 46:57Speaker 21: official government statistics tractor you're factoring is up by forty
- 47:02Speaker 21: You know, they're coming from a different time. You know,
- 47:05Speaker 21: they're still pushing the whole Biden or something. It's gone.
- 47:08Speaker 2: It is gone. Thanks so much for joining us, Tim
- 47:10Speaker 2: and Mark will catch you next week. Yeah. Treating criminals
- 47:12Speaker 2: like criminals, perish the thought. He is Peter Kredlin
