- 1:36that. We're now talking to former 18
- 1:39year NBA forward Metta World Peace Metta.
- 1:43What's up, buddy? Everything is great guys,
- 1:46everything is great. Nice to be here.
- 1:48I can run across you guys over the last couple years and then
- 1:53be connected on one on your post and you guys got me on the on
- 1:56the podcast, man. Yes, Sir.
- 1:58Thank you for having me. Absolutely.
- 2:00Thank you for coming man. You look good, man.
- 2:02You look good. You you could probably play in
- 2:04the NBA still, but there's a lot of stuff to get into with your
- 2:08career and we'll talk about what you're doing outside of your
- 2:11career. We know you're coaching now, so
- 2:13we'll get into that in just a few moments.
- 2:15Yeah, but there's a lot of things that have happened over
- 2:18the last couple of years. And I got a chance to watch the
- 2:21Netflix Lamar Jack, Lamar Odom story, and you were in it.
- 2:26And you know, Lamar, because you both grew up in New York, you
- 2:30grew up in Queens Bridge. Tell us a little bit about your
- 2:32connection and and your respect for Lamar Odom and all the
- 2:36things that he's gone through. I love Lamar.
- 2:39The first time I met Lamar was at DS Park in Ravenswood and
- 2:42Lamar was playing with a guy named Raheem Johnson and Raheem
- 2:47Johnson was the best in our class in New York City.
- 2:51Talk about 199593. Raheem was playing in, you know,
- 2:55he was playing with, you know, the 12th grade, the 10th
- 2:58graders. He was in 8th grade.
- 3:00So Lamar was like 6. When he come back the next year
- 3:02he was 66. I know Lamar, you know me, Elton
- 3:06Lamar. We also played on Riverside
- 3:08Church, so we got a lot of history together.
- 3:11Even from playing in IS8. We had a battle in there, you
- 3:15know, and, and, and I didn't know a lot of the things about
- 3:17Lamar's history, you know, until I seen like this duck.
- 3:21And keep in mind we got drafted the same year, play the AAU and
- 3:26won a championship together. Meta, now it's in the Palace.
- 3:30Everybody remembers that. Everybody remembers the fight.
- 3:33I thought you did the right thing.
- 3:35You stuck up for your players, you stuck up for you yourself.
- 3:38Tell us a little bit about that. I mean, it's, it's been a story
- 3:42for many, many years in the NBA. Yeah, You know, the mouse of the
- 3:46Palace is very interesting. I mean, the way they edited the
- 3:49content, because when people saw it, they saw me leaving the,
- 3:54the, the, the the bench where I was laying on the, on the
- 3:58scorer's table. And then they tried to make the
- 4:01scorer's table look like, why would you lay on a scorer's
- 4:04table to get out of trouble, right.
- 4:06So, you know, when people typically get in trouble in our
- 4:08hoods, in our neighborhoods where we're from, you know, the
- 4:11neighborhoods that set the culture, the neighborhood that
- 4:13set the trends, you know, they say, hey, don't get into
- 4:16trouble, stay out of trouble. But I literally got in trouble
- 4:20for trying to stay out of trouble.
- 4:22And they also now they couldn't quite make the edit.
- 4:25They wasn't that good. They're pretty bad editors.
- 4:28They couldn't make the edit where you couldn't see the
- 4:30splash. So you so you saw the splash,
- 4:34right? But they didn't show until the
- 4:36Netflix documentary came out. That's when they showed the guy
- 4:39throw the bear and it hit me in my face.
- 4:41So people often ask, right, why would you do that?
- 4:44That's the narrative. So media has the capability of
- 4:47changing someone's mind frame. So then everybody's asking, why
- 4:51would you protect yourself? And it was it was I was really
- 4:54impressed, which inspired me to this day.
- 4:57I was really impressed with how media can make people think a
- 5:00certain way, right? Like, yeah, that's like saying
- 5:02somebody come to your office with that number seven behind
- 5:05you and smack you in your face, right?
- 5:08And we say, hey, why did you protect yourself?
- 5:13Why did you not just take that smack like a?
- 5:17Bitch. Anyway, But you know what?
- 5:22That's water under the bridge. You know, I lost a lot of money
- 5:27and took it on the chair like a man.
- 5:30So I want to shift gears a little bit to a more physical
- 5:33college era in the Big East. You played at Saint John's for a
- 5:36while. It was considered the heyday of
- 5:37the Big East going into the late 90s and early 2000s.
- 5:40Like, what were some of those rivalries like?
- 5:42Do you have any iconic moments of any of those matchups?
- 5:45I love the Big East, I love Saint John's.
- 5:47I went to La Salle Academy, Christian Brothers School, St.
- 5:49John's Catholic School. I love Saint John's.
- 5:52I love my Catholic University. I love New York City.
- 5:54CYO. You know, I went to Saint John's
- 5:56because of, you know, being from New York City, I could've went
- 5:59to Miami. I was going to go to Miami.
- 6:01That was with that the hat I had on MSGI also had a letter from
- 6:05Princeton. I just made Princeton all I
- 6:07could've went. And I also was going to go to
- 6:09Notre Dame for architecture. That's my major.
- 6:11And so, you know, St. John's is something about New
- 6:14York City, something about New York City that I love.
- 6:17And I, you know, so I sacrificed all that and then, you know,
- 6:21UDC, the Police Athletic League, menacing, all the stuff.
- 6:24That's what I love. And then playing in the Big
- 6:27East, St. John's, Chris Muller, Luke on
- 6:29the second, you know, I had a chance to be a part of history
- 6:33and and, you know, and I did, you know, he was in a drought
- 6:35since the Luke on the second days.
- 6:36And I got us out there and I helped us, you know, get out
- 6:38that drought. You know, Tyrone Grant didn't
- 6:40break his wrist that year. He broke his wrist.
- 6:42He was like the best team in the in the college, I think, or top
- 6:45five. Tyrone Grant breaks his wrist
- 6:47against UConn. And it kind of set us back a
- 6:50little bit. Tyrone Grant didn't break his
- 6:51wrist, you know, and we still went to the elite and lost by
- 6:54two even though he came back, but he wasn't the same like
- 6:58before he broke his wrist. Yeah, Matt, thanks for coming
- 7:03on, man. As a former Pro Football player,
- 7:05man, I just want to let you know I'm a big fan first and
- 7:07foremost. But then second, you know, from
- 7:09a football perspective, we love to see what you did out there in
- 7:12Madison in the past and we would root for you.
- 7:15We understand what it is. You know, sometimes fans get
- 7:17carried away and, and and discipline has happened.
- 7:21You know me. You know that guy, He bet
- 7:24$50.00. So I know John Green, the
- 7:26gentleman who hit me. I call everybody gentleman, but
- 7:29gentle hit me and I'm so we're kind of friends now, which is
- 7:31ironic, right? It was a $50 bet.
- 7:33The guy who raised his hand, he lost $50.00 to John.
- 7:36He raised his hand not because he won.
- 7:38He raised his hand because he was like, yo, you hit him, I owe
- 7:42you $50. This is crazy.
- 7:44I was up there like Superman in five seconds.
- 7:45I want to talk about another moment that you had was a backup
- 7:48for James Harden. I thought it was a celebration.
- 7:51I think that you have took the villain road and mastered, you
- 7:55know, I know people gave you him in regards to when it happened,
- 7:58but I think you you know, and you lost a lot of money on the
- 8:01front end. But I think you have mastered
- 8:03how to be that villain role and still be, you know, positively
- 8:07impacted the world. So I want to give you credit
- 8:09that, but take me through that play.
- 8:11Was it but you just celebrated and it happened?
- 8:13Or was you more so? Nah, what happened?
- 8:15It was a poem. So the thing about that game, I
- 8:19had 16 the first half and I, you know, so he talked about that.
- 8:21I was I was I was getting in the ass and then So what happened
- 8:25was I got I got, I think I got a steal.
- 8:28I was on a fast rate. I got a dunk.
- 8:29The first thing I did was go to the crowd and you know, shout
- 8:33out to James. He's that's my guy.
- 8:34I love James. He he he rode tight with my son.
- 8:37So so I I get the dunk with the left hand.
- 8:41I go to the crowd and I'm making almost I hit like Ali go to the
- 8:45baseline. I make AL towards the sideline
- 8:47and James makes AL, you know, and comes up and on my back and
- 8:52then shove me in the back. I didn't think it was James.
- 8:55Honestly, I thought it was Ibaka when I thought it was Ibaka
- 8:58because I'm like typically guys my size and my strength would
- 9:02mess with me. Not like, you know what I mean?
- 9:04Guys that don't really have a chance, right.
- 9:07So I thought it was Ibaka. So when I, you know, when I when
- 9:11I threw the elbow, like, you know, get up off me, get up off
- 9:14me low, you know what I mean? Get up off me.
- 9:16And then there was somebody my height, you know, and I'm like,
- 9:22you know, and I didn't know who it was.
- 9:23I also thought it could have been Perkins.
- 9:26You know, Perkins is a dog. Perkins is a dog.
- 9:29So it's like, maybe it's Perkins and we can get a little drama
- 9:32real quick. I didn't, I didn't even know,
- 9:34honestly, I, I did not think it was James Harden at all, you
- 9:39know, because it's just like, you know, like anyway, it was a,
- 9:44it was a celebration. But then after the celebration,
- 9:47it was like whoever's up on me, I don't really know who it is,
- 9:51but you're about to get up off me, right?
- 9:53And and it was a little bit too, as you know, excessive.
- 9:57I think that's probably one of the one things I regret in my
- 10:00career. Like that one, you know, I could
- 10:02have maybe not did that. That's one of the one plays, but
- 10:06I'm like the ones one of the ones I regret even more than
- 10:09like the the malice and the palace.
- 10:10Does that make? Sense, right, Right.
- 10:12Yeah. We are talking to former 18 year
- 10:14NBA forward Metal World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest.
- 10:18Played in the NBA from 99 to 2017, won a championship with
- 10:21the Lakers in 2010 when they beat the Celtics.
- 10:26Now I want to get into so many great players you played with,
- 10:29but one great player may rest in peace, Kobe Bryant.
- 10:32Tell us a little bit about who Kobe was on and off the court.
- 10:37Kobe was great. So I mean, at the end of Kobe's
- 10:39career, he was guard down. We we saw way more smiles.
- 10:44We wasn't we weren't winning, but we saw way more smiles.
- 10:48That was cool at the beginning of Kobe's career, you know, the
- 10:53Black Mamba's 5:00 AM practices in the summertime, that whole
- 10:57thing, which is pretty, which, which, which is really
- 10:59incredible, man. You know, you know Kobe, I seen
- 11:04him work on a jab step like 100 times, like jab shot, jab shot,
- 11:07jab shot Often when I would play with him, Keep in mind the year
- 11:14before that I was averaging 25 against some of the playoffs.
- 11:16So I was pretty good job. When I go to his team.
- 11:18Now I'm a role player, right? And since I become a role player
- 11:22and watching him on the court was like watching Superman, some
- 11:25of the things he did was incredible.
- 11:27The amount of game winners, the amount of shots to send into
- 11:29overtime, the amount of big shots is virtually impossible,
- 11:33you know, to be that clutch, you know, and game five in Boston
- 11:39Garden, 25 straight points, all of him going from the 3rd to the
- 11:434th at one point in time. I'm like, this guy is
- 11:45incredible. Like, you know, I'm, I'm, I'm
- 11:48just, I'm just Cody on the wing. But I'm in awe, you know, but he
- 11:55he's an incredible guy. RIP Kobe.
- 11:56We miss him. Now we we've watched so much
- 12:00basketball, but you have done some amazing things on and off
- 12:03the basketball court. Tell us a little bit about the
- 12:05foundations you work with. Yeah, you know, so I started my
- 12:09foundation back in 2007. It was called Excel University
- 12:13because when I first made it, I got a scholarship.
- 12:15Thanks. Riverside Church, Earnest Lunch.
- 12:19I got a scholarship to LaSalle Academy.
- 12:20So when I made, I said, you know what, I'm gonna get people
- 12:22scholarships. Now keep in mind I was coming
- 12:25cash out of pocket paying somebody tuition.
- 12:29So that's not a tax write off, right?
- 12:31I didn't know about 5 O 1C threes in 1999 when I was 19.
- 12:34So, so keep that all in perspective, you know, So when
- 12:37you get to 2007, I start putting things to A5O1C3I named the
- 12:41Excel University because I was sending people to school and I
- 12:44always wanted to build my own university.
- 12:45So I had these aspirations. I want to be an architect to
- 12:47build, to build community centers, right?
- 12:51So when you when you Fast forward and in my career, I'm
- 12:54doing so much philanthropy, but I'm also going through a lot of
- 12:56stuff. So it's like opposite.
- 12:57I'm really positive off the court.
- 12:59On the court I'm getting in a lot of trouble.
- 13:01So I decided to just, you know, weather the storm and we changed
- 13:04Excel university to art test university.
- 13:05My dad has the art test foundation in New York City.
- 13:08I got art test university in Los Angeles.
- 13:11Initially he was focused on mental health initially with
- 13:13scholarships and they went to mental health.
- 13:15Now we're focusing on different forms of literacy for athletes.
- 13:18You know, a lot of athletes make it and then when they so when
- 13:22collectively, if we lose it, I always say collectively can be
- 13:24all athletes, we all won. People be be almost ashamed
- 13:27shaming them. But the thing was this one, they
- 13:29helped other people's children. Think about the amount of money
- 13:33that athletes was just given to people.
- 13:35That's somebody else's child that just got 50 grand that they
- 13:38dad and mom come get them to 50 grand.
- 13:40So it's a lot of social impact that people don't really
- 13:42discover when it comes to that. Then 2, you know, when an
- 13:46athlete retires, if the athlete doesn't have anything to fall
- 13:50back on, you see a lot of athletes get overweight, a lot
- 13:52of depression, right? You see a lot of athletes, they
- 13:54can't pull up in that Rolls Royce no more, right identity
- 13:57crisis. You know what I'm saying?
- 13:59So right now we just trying to attack those issues all the
- 14:04time. I went through my own thing
- 14:05also, you know, I was able to luckily I, I embrace therapy.
- 14:10You know, there's, there's a lot of things where even the money,
- 14:12the more money you get tapped into you into your emotions,
- 14:15right. So it's not that you're a bad
- 14:17person, it's just that you never had a chance to address issues.
- 14:20So now you might be spending too much, you might be doing too
- 14:22many drugs. Maybe I won't on sex.
- 14:24You know, you might need a sex therapy, sex addiction.
- 14:27You know, you, you put a Band-Aid over 1 and but
- 14:31something else pops up. And this is what athletes is
- 14:33going through, entertainers and even founders that are not
- 14:35athletes. They just not in the public eye,
- 14:37you know. So anyway, that's what I'm doing
- 14:39from a philanthropic perspective also pushing World Peace.
- 14:42World Peace. You know, I named myself World
- 14:44Peace 2011 in America, you know what I mean?
- 14:48So that's ballsy. That's ballsy.
- 14:51You know, I'm always, you know what I mean?
- 14:52In America, we want, we want peace.
- 14:54That's what he's saying. And I'm the longest reigning
- 14:57market at World Peace. There's nobody that's been
- 14:59marketing World Peace longer than me.
- 15:01What does that merit that merits the Nobel Prize right in
- 15:04Queensbury? All they got to do is come to
- 15:05Queensbury, give me my prize. I'm waiting, I'm waiting for it.
- 15:11I'm ready. Let's reach out.
- 15:12Let's reach out to Nas. Maybe we'll have him write a
- 15:14song for you. I would love for Nas to write my
- 15:24album. Write my album.
- 15:28So, so the guy that's coaching the New York Knicks now is a guy
- 15:31that I coached you with the Lakers, you had a little bit of
- 15:32a beef with in 2011, obviously taking over Phil Jackson, a
- 15:35legend that he is, after you guys won the title in 2009 to
- 15:382010, beating Q's Boston Celtics.
- 15:41Talk about the transition to Mike Brown and what went wrong
- 15:44with that whole debacle. I didn't have a beat for Mike
- 15:48Brown. Our O and five record.
- 15:52That was the beat. That wasn't, you know, we just
- 15:54started O and five, but that's an incredible job.
- 15:57Imagine go O and five, you get 40 million and you get you get
- 16:00paid. I'm like, damn, I want to go
- 16:02over and five and get paid 40 million.
- 16:06That was incredible. But I think like that year there
- 16:10was no mix. It wasn't Mike Brown fault.
- 16:12It was, it was a, it was a Little Mix of everything.
- 16:14But also, you know, we didn't really have, I mean, Dwight
- 16:18Howard just had a back surgery. Steve Nash wasn't even ready to
- 16:22play, you know, and, and, and those two are two of our main
- 16:25guys was coming off injury. So, and, and they're a major
- 16:28part of the offense. And I don't think Mike Brown
- 16:31wanted to feature those guys not 'cause they're not good enough
- 16:35because they were injured. So Mike Brown had to do what he
- 16:38had to do. And it started out bad and, you
- 16:41know, started out bad and, you know, they got, they got rid of
- 16:43them. You know, I play for Mike in
- 16:44Indiana too. You know, for me, I was just,
- 16:48you know what kind of just a role play you're on a team with,
- 16:51with Kobe, Dwight, Pal, Nash at that point, you know what I'm
- 16:56saying? You just watching this crazy,
- 16:59just watching that. Yeah.
- 17:00That's great. We had a great team, though.
- 17:01We had a really good team. So man, as a as a, as a top
- 17:05defender to ever lace it up, man and I and as far as my eyes, you
- 17:09definitely wanted the top defenders ever.
- 17:13The Hall of Fame, baby, check it out.
- 17:17Let me ask you a question. So are you saying I'm the top
- 17:20like so so so the top that doesn't that merits the Hall of
- 17:23Fame? Because you didn't say I'm the
- 17:25bottom. You said on the top.
- 17:28Yeah, yeah. Yeah, first NBA player with the
- 17:33Nobel Peace Prize in the Hall of Fame.
- 17:35Baby, let's get it in. Your career like you kind of got
- 17:46a chance to see both sides of the court in regards to planning
- 17:50that, like, you know, Jordan 90s early 2000 area and then coming
- 17:54into what what we see today on TV.
- 17:56Talk to me a little bit now and I'm sure I'll go have a follow
- 17:59up, but talk to me a little bit now in regards to the shifted
- 18:04skill set. And also, you know, I, I think
- 18:07the 90s get that tough, you know, competitive right label
- 18:11and then these guys kind of get the more skill set finesse
- 18:15label. So tell me a little bit about,
- 18:17you know, both games. Well, one, I think not the
- 18:20players, but too many people are talking about the skill set, but
- 18:23we're not talking about the traveling because Michael Jordan
- 18:26couldn't take you ain't going to find it.
- 18:27You ain't going to find a clip where Michael Jordan took four
- 18:30steps. You know, I'm saying so you
- 18:32can't give guys a stroke. No, no, no, no, we all grown
- 18:34men. You ain't getting no handicap.
- 18:37Travel, travel, travel, travel, travel, you getting merits and
- 18:40asterisks, right? So and you know, on top of that,
- 18:44I think I think it's more, I think it's more talent.
- 18:48I think more people are a little bit more skilled, more athletic
- 18:52and they have more technology. You know, Larry Bird, those guys
- 18:55are playing in flip flops. Go pull out some Pumas and some
- 18:58Converse old school. And I want to see somebody the
- 19:01whole season in flip flops. OK, play a whole season, then
- 19:04tell me how athletic you are. Like these guys had no support.
- 19:08None of the guys had arches. They all have flat arches.
- 19:12That's a. Fact.
- 19:15So hey, man, these guys, I say like the technologies, you know,
- 19:19I think the technology is different, but Jordan played 82
- 19:22games in flip flops. Now he had better shoes, but
- 19:25Jordan played 82 games nine times.
- 19:27Right, but they don't. Other side got LeBron who played
- 19:2923 seasons and. That's one.
- 19:32I'll talk about AC Green, I'll talk about John Stockton, I'll
- 19:35talk about Carl Malone. How many games?
- 19:38Hey, you want to know something? When we was with the Lakers,
- 19:41with the Lakers, the goal was to play 82 games like that.
- 19:44Last when we won that season, like it was a whole different
- 19:47mindset. They like, hey, we here we
- 19:49played 82. First time I ever played 82 was
- 19:52with the Lakers and then we had like 4 people play 82.
- 19:55Usually I'm saying there there are no breaks.
- 19:58So anyway, that's the the difference is not I'm not going
- 20:01at the players, I'm going at the people like making opinions
- 20:04because you got to you got to lift up the hood you.
- 20:06Definitely got a factor that is. Well, I just want to tell you
- 20:09Meta, that's why I love you. That's why I love you because
- 20:11you set him straight as as everybody knows, we are talking
- 20:15to former 18 year NBA vets. Former formerly known as Metta
- 20:20World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest.
- 20:22You can call him whatever you want.
- 20:24You want to call him Metta? Metta World Peace, Ron Artest,
- 20:26You can call him whatever you want.
- 20:28You won a championship with the Lakers, but I want to get into
- 20:30you. When you were drafted, you were
- 20:32drafted by the Chicago Bulls at 16.
- 20:35The Knicks passed up on you. The Knicks who you grew up
- 20:39rooting for, you always wanted to be a Knick.
- 20:41How did you feel when the Knicks passed up on you?
- 20:44Meta. It was that, you know, it wasn't
- 20:46supposed to happen. You look at my career, look at
- 20:48everybody that went ahead of me was not supposed to have them.
- 20:52I should have been a Knick. I love the Knicks to this day,
- 20:54but I still, you know, sometimes I get into that mode in 1999
- 20:58where I'm like, I should have been a Knick.
- 21:00So they know how I feel the next the Knicks embrace my emotions.
- 21:04So shout out to the Knicks organization, by the way,
- 21:06because they treat me very well like the Knicks that they bring
- 21:10me out, they give me out, they give me a legends jacket.
- 21:12I only was there three months, right, I was only a Knick for
- 21:15three months, but I think they understand like how how
- 21:17important the Knicks is are are to me, right.
- 21:20So from that perspective, like I should have been a Knick, I
- 21:23should have been a defensive player of the year in New York
- 21:26City. And like I see I get a little
- 21:28bit better because I see these guys jerseys about to be
- 21:30retired. I see guys playing well with the
- 21:32Knicks. They're going to go down as Nick
- 21:34Nick legend. But so my only argument is
- 21:37imagine a defensive player of the year in the garden.
- 21:38You understand, imagine imagine people coming in the garden and
- 21:42not leaving the garden and you talking about hall of farmers,
- 21:46right. You talk about imagine people
- 21:47get unfortunately, I'll somebody from an organization I want to
- 21:52mention to zero to 0 points for an entire season.
- 21:57That's next level stuff on top of being a go to guy on top of
- 22:02for six. Up until Kobe, I was I was a go
- 22:04to guy. So now you talk about defense
- 22:06and office in the Garden. You would never seen nothing
- 22:08like it. It would have never been nothing
- 22:10like it in the garden. I love the I always look
- 22:12passionate about New York. As you know, I tried to get the
- 22:14Nick head coaching job. Shout out to Mike Brown.
- 22:16Mike Brown got the job. They needed somebody from, you
- 22:18know, right caddy corner from Nas block.
- 22:21They needed a caddy corner from Nas block.
- 22:23Queens Bridge on his front that's.
- 22:25What I thought bridge. I love Manhattan, I love Harlow,
- 22:28I love the Bronx, I love all New York City.
- 22:30You know they really. Need a little?
- 22:33Yeah, come on man. But a shout out to the Knicks.
- 22:36I love New York all. Right, nada.
- 22:39How many kids do you have? Man, I see kids crying in the
- 22:41back. How many kids do you have?
- 22:43You have sons. How many kids do you have?
- 22:46I got five children, 3 grandchildren.
- 22:48Wow, your grandfather, man, you look good for a grandfather.
- 22:51Yeah, I started early. I was 16 on a mall deep block.
- 22:59All right, let's get into your coaching right now.
- 23:02What are you doing as a coach? You said yeah.
- 23:06What are you doing as a coach right now?
- 23:08Yeah, You know, people said I wasn't coaching when I was
- 23:11trying to get jobs. Mary doesn't coach this and
- 23:13that. You know, I got to hear it.
- 23:14They got everybody got their own little teams and little media
- 23:17team. We won the CCAA, my women's
- 23:20team, coaching for the last seven years, first time in
- 23:23California history, Cal State history.
- 23:26They've been around since 1947. We won the tournament first time
- 23:32ever player of the year. I'm the lead assistant.
- 23:34I am a real coach. This is not I'm not just like
- 23:38some fly by night. I don't need a lot of it.
- 23:41I don't need a lot of us former head coaches, you know, I don't
- 23:47need a lot. You know, we going to get it
- 23:49done. So I say that because I love
- 23:50coaching. I'm obsessed with the game.
- 23:53I did need a break from the game.
- 23:55If you if you know, my career when I retired, I need a break.
- 23:58So I did get a break from the game.
- 24:00But now we're coming back to win the NBA championship.
- 24:02Yeah, that's the goal. That's what we're going to do.
- 24:05You know, and everybody that said it was never going to
- 24:07happen. I'm challenge accepted.
- 24:10You know, high level, high level to low level, high level to low
- 24:14level, right? Challenge accepted.
- 24:18I got a team for you right now. I got a team for you right now.
- 24:21The Chicago Bulls are looking for a coach right now.
- 24:25Why don't we you got? Drafted.
- 24:26Yeah. So let me ask you so you know
- 24:29how last year I was really public about trying to get the
- 24:32big job right now this year, all the jobs that came up, I'm not
- 24:37as excited. So I'm taking I'm taking a year
- 24:43off of asking for coaching job. I'm not.
- 24:45Looking for coaching job? It's the reboot.
- 24:49On my own time, I'm just not looking.
- 24:52This time I just had it, you know, so, so this year I'm not,
- 24:56I'm not pursuing coaching right now.
- 24:59You're holding up for the Lakers job when Arrow's favorite coach,
- 25:02JJ Reddick, gets fired. Well, first of all, it's the
- 25:04LJA, it's the LeBron James Association, It's not the NBA,
- 25:08it's the LeBron James Association.
- 25:10So if LeBron wants Ron Artest or Metta World Peace to run that
- 25:14organization, so be it. I'm gonna give myself credit,
- 25:16say I'm I'm just ready. I don't need anybody's approval.
- 25:20I am. I'm ready.
- 25:22I'm ready to go. I'm just waiting for an
- 25:24opportunity. But you know, it's so exciting.
- 25:26I'm going back to coach my girls again.
- 25:28You know, it's been, it's been a hell of a ride.
- 25:31I mean, you got people coming from Division One kept trying to
- 25:34come back down, you know, and without NIL money.
- 25:37So imagine that. They say I can't develop how I'm
- 25:40in college, coaching college for seven years.
- 25:42That's the development. That's a new freshman every
- 25:44year, right? That's that's real development.
- 25:47So but I really do love it. And thanks for giving me the
- 25:49platform. Absolutely.
- 25:50You know, to talk about how great I am as a coach.
- 25:54Better. First of all, I just want to let
- 25:55you know we wanted you to come back on the show.
- 25:57We would love for you to come back on the show and interact
- 26:00with us. You know your foot, you know
- 26:03your basketball, I'm sure you know your football, you know a
- 26:05lot about sports. You've been all over the place
- 26:07and you've done so many great things, not only in basketball.
- 26:10For all the different things that you've done outside of
- 26:12basketball, it's pretty amazing. We really appreciate you joining
- 26:15us. Thanks for having me guys,
- 26:17hopefully you can have me again. Absolutely, we'll do.
- 26:19Thank you, Metta. We really appreciate it.
- 26:21Metta. World Peace, ladies and
- 26:23gentlemen. Fantastic.
- 26:25The fact that he joined us, he's got his kids in the car, he's
- 26:29hanging out with the fam. We really appreciate him.
- 26:32Thank you, Nathan. Nathan, you got to give.
- 26:33Nathan. Got to give the Nath some credit
- 26:36here as the Nathmeister landed the great Metta World Peace.
- 26:41He's doing so many great things right now in LA.
- 26:43We want him to come back to New York.
- 26:46Damn you, New York. I'm just kidding.
- 26:47We'll see. Mike Brown.
- 26:50Mike Brown's up 100 and 11:57. Thank you.
- 26:53Great freaking interview with Meta World Peace.
- 26:56He had some interesting details. I didn't think he'd go in depth
- 26:58like that into all the fights he had.
- 27:00That was real interesting if you're a big Meta fan.
- 27:03Like I thought he really was fantastic.
- 27:06What? What a great guest.
- 27:07He was and he's, he's just a great personality.
- 27:09All the things that he's done, all the trials and tribulations
- 27:12the guy's been through, it's pretty amazing.
- 27:14And, and, and to me, if you look at his career, he always wanted
- 27:19to be a Nick, always wanted to be a Knick.
- 27:21I remember, I remember the draft.
- 27:23I was a kid. I was a kid.
- 27:25I was in high school and I was like, I want meta.
- 27:28I want meta. Well, I wanted Ron Artest.
- 27:30I want Ron Artest. I want Ron Artest.
- 27:32And I remember the Knicks were sitting there.
- 27:34If I'm not mistaken, they were sitting there at 10 or 11 and,
- 27:37and they passed up on Ron Artest.
- 27:40I was pissed. I was pissed when they passed up
- 27:44on him. He goes to the Bulls and we all
- 27:46know where where it all went. Then he eventually went to
- 27:48Indiana and had his career started.
- 27:50His career really just completely elevated and and
- 27:53became the player now, now we call Metta World Peace.
- 27:56So it's an amazing story and the guys got a great personalities,
- 28:00personality. He absolutely could be a coach
- 28:03in the NBA, 100% could be a coach in the NBA and everybody
- 28:07would thrive. To him, this guy was a great
- 28:08defensive player, great offensive player, defensive
- 28:11player of the year, and he did all The Dirty work.
- 28:14Everywhere he went. He was really Kobe's protector.
- 28:17When he went to the Lakers, he was out there protecting Kobe.
- 28:20Anybody pushed, anybody shoved Kobe, he was the guy to get into
- 28:24your face. He's to me.
- 28:26I've always loved him, always loved him, always Rudy for him.
- 28:30And he did play for the Knicks for three months.
- 28:32It wasn't long enough, but it was at the tail end of his
- 28:34career. But very happy to have him on
- 28:36the show. And we got to give Nathan a lot
- 28:38of credit. Nathan was the.
- 28:39One that but yeah, he had AI could definitely see him coming
- 28:43in as a great coach and probably having a, you know, Hall of Fame
- 28:46type coaching career like Doc Rivers and and whatnot.
- 28:50So I really. Oh please stop with this Doc
- 28:53Rivers crap. Speedy, I just think he'd be
- 28:57like as crazy as Joe Missoula, but way scarier because let's
- 29:02face it, he would kill you. He's he's got, he's twice
- 29:07Joseph. He ain't Joe.
- 29:09I mean, I'm not saying Joe. What's he killing a rat?
- 29:13The real. Question is if he does take the
- 29:15Lakers job, how would he coach Brody James?
- 29:19Oh please, the guy that shouldn't be in the NBA right
- 29:24now. And actually develop at a lot
- 29:27faster rate with better World Peace at his coach.
- 29:30We should probably next time we have him on in like 8.
- 29:33Like whenever it is that JJ Reddick gets fired, we should
- 29:36ask him if it's Wow. JJ is.
- 29:40Getting that's how that series goes.
- 29:41You know JJ is getting that furious.
- 29:43He's getting fired. There's no way if LeBron James
- 29:46leaves and he goes to the cabs. I know everybody heard everybody
- 29:49seen Luka Doncic. He actually JJ Reddick liked the
- 29:52coat that he was wearing was all over social media.
- 29:55And then JJ was a Dior. It was Christian Dior jacket.
- 29:58And he went and he bought him the same jacket and it's cool.
- 30:01I mean, when you're making millions and millions of
- 30:03dollars, I'd buy him a, a $15,000 jacket.
- 30:06I mean, that's like pennies. That's like pennies to a guy
- 30:10like Luka Doncic who has a sneaker deal like he has.
- 30:12So I, I mean, it's cool, but there's no way JJ Redick has a
- 30:16job over there. If LeBron decides to go to
- 30:18Cleveland, I'm just, I, I can't see it.
- 30:20He's going to pick his coach. Whoever he wants there is going
- 30:23to happen anyways. I don't know.
- 30:26That's, that's a good question. That's no, I don't think it's
- 30:29Tyron. It's going to be It's going to
- 30:31be somebody like Jason Kidd if he becomes available.
- 30:34If Jason Kidd gets fired, which a lot of people believe he
- 30:37might, Jason Kidd is definitely the next guy to get that job
- 30:40with the Lakers. A hundred 100% because him and
- 30:43Luca are like this. He did not want Luca Doncic
- 30:46being traded from Dallas. He thought Dallas screwed him
- 30:49and really affected the growth of this team.
- 30:52They went all the way to the finals and then they traded him
- 30:55the next year. It made no sense.
- 30:56One year that made Nico Harrison.
- 30:57It made no sense. It made no sense.
- 31:00Just so everybody. Got the first pick.
- 31:02What do you mean it made no sense?
- 31:03Yeah, yeah, because, because the LJ gave them the first pick.
- 31:07That's why we gifted. You, Luka Doncic, let's reward
- 31:09the worst GM ever, but they're going to do the first overall.
- 31:12Pick and they're going to gift them another top four pick this
- 31:14year I mean what else do they need they might as well get
- 31:17everything anyway I. Actually have something that
- 31:20exactly what you're talking about this great story and dial
- 31:23it up. I'm sure segment, you're going
- 31:25to love it. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 31:27we call this All righty, then all righty, then, All righty.
- 31:40Then welcome back to our literary segment.
- 31:43If you haven't joined us for All Righty, then this is the segment
- 31:46where we go through 1 of Arrows articles that we post on
- 31:49worldwidesportsradio.com, one of the most well highly trafficked
- 31:55websites. Fastest growing websites in
- 31:57traffic and getting over 300,000 visits a month for around.
- 32:01The almost 400 this month, by the way.
- 32:03Almost 400 this month. Crushing it.
- 32:06If you don't know what's on there, it's clips from this
- 32:07show. If you love this show, you
- 32:08should be on there all the time. As well as other great shows on
- 32:11the Worldwide Sports Radio network.
- 32:14We have as well and some other articles from Errol and other
- 32:18sports writers from our group of interns with that works
- 32:23sometimes with Nithin Ramachandra.
- 32:26Ramachandra. His fantastic crew at NR Media,
- 32:31due to in a lot of Dodger, we take some of these articles, we
- 32:35put them on Reddit and this is where you guys at home get to
- 32:38interact. We want you to comment on them,
- 32:40and then you have a whole list of comments.
- 32:42Speedies gathered up to pick the best 5.
- 32:44And we're going to go through some of these reactions to
- 32:47Errol's article, and we're going to go through the Caitlin Clark
- 32:491 today. Now I'm going to read you this.
- 32:51Is for you. Q.
- 32:54From this article before we start.
- 32:56All right, hold on. We are a little frozen in the
- 32:58backstage. Oh wow, please Harry this up.
- 33:03Blow my back out. Yeah.
- 33:09Soundtrack back there in the back speed and you kill it.
- 33:12Dildo. That's bad.
- 33:13Jabba likes my shrimp cocktail. My rear.
- 33:16End Thanks, Errol, for all the sound effects while I was having
- 33:20technical difficulties. That's actually the first time
- 33:22they've ever been useful in the show's history.
- 33:25That was a fantastic job by you. Caitlin Clark just sold out
- 33:31sneakers faster than concert tickets.
- 33:33Did WNBA better build her statue before Nike does?
- 33:38Let's take a look at this article.
- 33:40Here she is, Caitlin Clark. Caitlin Clarke Nike Kobe 5 Pro
- 33:44TRO Rookie of the Year Sneakers didn't just sell out, they
- 33:47vanished faster than the Mets lead in the 8th inning.
- 33:50What she gonna happen tonight? Within minutes, the shoes were
- 33:53gone. Poof.
- 33:55Finished, reduced to sneaker resale purgatory where desperate
- 33:58fans now have to sell a kidney to get a pair.
- 34:01The $190.00 sneakers immediately hit resale markers for well
- 34:05built retail after the drop sold out in mere minutes.
- 34:08And if you're asking whether Caitlin Clark is the biggest
- 34:11superstar in sports right now, buddy.
- 34:14She might be. Or, at minimum, she's in the
- 34:16conversation with the kind of momentum most athletes would
- 34:19sacrifice a back for a backup point guard for.
- 34:22Let's take a look through some of the rest of the article,
- 34:24Caitlin. Clark is not just the WNBA star,
- 34:26she's a sports business nuclear weapon.
- 34:29What she's already done in her career.
- 34:31One MWNBA Rookie of the Year helped drive record attendance
- 34:35and TV ratings for the league. Become one of the most
- 34:37marketable athletes in America. It's absurd.
- 34:41She's basically doing for the WNBA what Steph Curry did for
- 34:45the NBA. If Steph arrived with a
- 34:47flamethrower. A billion social media
- 34:49followers. And sneaker heads foaming at the
- 34:53mouth. Speedy.
- 34:56All right, we'll start with a more generic one.
- 34:57To start. This is KBD 13.
- 35:00He he says, no, it's Kobe. If they weren't Kobe shoes,
- 35:03these numbers would be minimal. Well, first.
- 35:05Thank you KBD. I'm sorry, but that one.
- 35:08KBD, thank you for your your message, but you're wrong.
- 35:12Kobe's sneaker was not the one that exploded sneakers.
- 35:14It was Michael Jordan's. Jordan's in eight in the 80s
- 35:18from 85 all the way through. He changed the sneaker deals.
- 35:22He opened the floodgates. But right now, I've never seen a
- 35:26sneaker sell out as fast as her sneakers done in minutes.
- 35:30This She's the first woman to ever do that, and she is
- 35:33changing the game. Changing the sneaker game.
- 35:36Go ahead. All right, so this one kind of
- 35:38agreeing with you, this is Evan P11.
- 35:40She's going to get the signature to end all signatures, probably
- 35:42a tier above the highest tech Nike models like KD and LeBron
- 35:46and even more than Wembe because big man's shoes are not going to
- 35:48sell as much because of the size of the shoe obviously.
- 35:51Evan, she has changed the world. She's changed the women's
- 35:54basketball world, she's changed the NBAI don't think we'll ever
- 35:58see a woman play in an NBA game, but what she has done, she's
- 36:01opened the floodgates to see that women can take and dominate
- 36:06a professional sport. She is the transition that
- 36:09everybody was waiting for. She's everything you want as
- 36:12not, not just as a woman, but changing the the values of where
- 36:18professional sports is going. I think it's great.
- 36:21This is great for professional sports.
- 36:22It's great for basketball. NBAWNBA.
- 36:26She is going to be a rocket ship for the WNBA to get billions and
- 36:31billions of dollars of contracts.
- 36:33As we've seen, they just got their first billion dollar
- 36:36contract. After that's up in the next 10
- 36:38years, she's going to bring in another 6-7 billion dollars.
- 36:41She is amazing and so easy to sell.
- 36:44All right, this one is from 2:20 X.
- 36:46These shoes took the whole beta sell out, then it went back on
- 36:48sale a few days later. What a joke.
- 36:50These were easily the worst of the CC Kobe 5.
- 36:53First of all, you could say whatever you want.
- 36:56You could say that. You joke a woman's sneaker is
- 36:59selling out and then being brought back and they're trying
- 37:02to find ways to bring it back into the stores.
- 37:04And first of all, here in New York, they only had a certain
- 37:07amount of those sneakers selling in all the stores because
- 37:10they're very hard to get. They sold out on the Internet,
- 37:14sold out on the Internet. To say that that's not amazing
- 37:17that a woman's sneaker is selling that fast, it's crazy.
- 37:21It is Kobe's sneaker. It is the fact that Kobe's name
- 37:24is branded to it. Who cares?
- 37:26What she's doing right now is changing the game for women's
- 37:29basketball. All right, this one is from OK
- 37:32Astronaut 2258. She's growing a brand, not the
- 37:36league. The league doesn't cover the
- 37:37majority of players, and it's hard for fans to realize that.
- 37:40He kind of extends it further. I didn't have room to show it
- 37:42all. He was mentioning a lot of the
- 37:44the casual fans are the only ones that care about Caitlin
- 37:46Clark compared to the hardcore WWE fans.
- 37:48OK, you're probably right. You're absolutely right.
- 37:50You see, Q, he's he doesn't give a crap about Caitlin Clark.
- 37:54He's got his own opinion, and that's fine.
- 37:57But here's the here's the facts. She is going to change the game.
- 38:00Say whatever you want. You hate her, love her,
- 38:03disrespect her. This woman is changing the game.
- 38:06She's helped the college game, and now she's helping the WNBA.
- 38:10These women are not going to have to go overseas anymore.
- 38:12They're going to get sneaker deals, everything.
- 38:14They're going to get all these different opportunities to make
- 38:17money. Why?
- 38:18Because of Caitlin Clark. Why do you want to hate her?
- 38:21You should love her. All right, last one from Nomad
- 38:26Chief 789 taking shots of the WA and WNBA.
- 38:29Maybe not loving her as much as they do, the WMA will allow her
- 38:32to get treated like a ping pong ball.
- 38:33That league will kill the golden goose the way it's run right now
- 38:36instead of protecting their prized.
- 38:38Assets. Norman, I agree completely with
- 38:41you. I don't understand why none of
- 38:43these women want to stand behind her.
- 38:45She has done so many things for the WNBA.
- 38:48She's not going out there and saying she's the best.
- 38:50She's going out there and making more money for the WNBA growth.
- 38:55That's what you want to see. The WNBA was falling apart.
- 38:58They were never getting this billion dollar deal.
- 39:01Now all of a sudden Caitlin Clark comes in and she's selling
- 39:03out games. People are buying $400.00
- 39:06tickets to go and watch Caitlin Clark.
- 39:09It's pretty amazing. How could you sit here and and
- 39:12attack her for what she's doing? You're Norman me and you agree
- 39:16absolutely, totally that this woman is changing the game.
- 39:19Why is anybody attacking her for it?
- 39:21It's pathetic. It's pathetic.
- 39:24Stand behind her all. Right.
- 39:28I'm I'm going to have a heart attack.
- 39:30How do you hate this woman? How does anybody hate this
- 39:34woman? All right, she's not the only
- 39:36WNBA player. You're right.
- 39:38She's not. That's fine.
- 39:39You don't want to give her credit.
- 39:41Kudos. Don't want to give her credit.
- 39:42That's fine. But what she's doing for the
- 39:44WNBA, what she's doing for the the WNBA is going to change the
- 39:50opportunities for these women. That's what's going on right
- 39:53now. More money is being brought to
- 39:55the table. These women are not going to
- 39:57have to go to Spain, Portugal, Argentina to go and play
- 40:01basketball. They could stay here in America
- 40:04and make a ton of money. Why?
- 40:06Because of a woman named Caitlin Clark.
- 40:08And you're going to attack her for it?
- 40:10OK, that's fine. That's your prerogative.
- 40:12My prerogative is I'm going to Rep her.
- 40:15I'm going to transition and tell you she is the great.
- 40:20Caitlin Clark, the great Caitlin Clark, ladies and gentlemen.
- 40:25That's why I wear her jerseys. That's why I Rep her.
- 40:28And that's why, ladies and gentlemen, her sneakers will
- 40:31continue selling out. Lovely.
- 40:34That's why I wrote that to. How many people read that story,
- 40:37Speedy? How many I put?
- 40:39It in like the Nike group and the main basketball shoes group
- 40:42I got about 27,000. 27,000 people read that story and I
- 40:48think everybody for reading it hate it or love it.
- 40:50I'm out there to support everything that's going good in
- 40:54professional sports. I'm going to go out there.
- 40:56I'm not going to turn down anything and if anybody wants to
- 40:59attack what I say, fine. I don't care.
- 41:01That's fine to me. That's who I am.
- 41:04I'm going to attack back. I'll bite your head off, I'll
- 41:06bite your fingers off, and if I'm down on the ground, I'll
- 41:09bite your toes off. That's what I'll do.
- 41:10Here's going to create a Reddit account just to find a bunch of
- 41:12Angel Reese. Fans, right?
- 41:14But don't worry about that, ladies and gentlemen.
- 41:16He don't have two front teeth so therefore he wouldn't be biting.
- 41:18First of all, I do have two front teeth.
- 41:22I'm waiting for my teeth to come.
- 41:25All right, you got about two weeks, ladies and gentlemen, 2
- 41:27weeks. You can't bite nothing.
- 41:29Screw you. Kill one.
- 41:30I can't stand you, man. I can't stand you.
- 41:33You do piss me off, man. Sometimes I tell you something
- 41:36up. There it is.
- 41:37I I'll be drinking more than I'm going.
- 41:39To you had already released it, I have rule to say something.
- 41:42You released it already. You did your press release in
- 41:44the beginning of this show. I have that I can say something
- 41:46about it now. I didn't make that face.
- 41:48By the way, Qi did not make that face.
- 41:50That was not my face, by the way.
- 41:52I did not make that face. And I did not have to blow out
- 41:55any candles. I told Brittany I was not
- 41:58blowing out any candles and I was not having cake.
- 42:00I do not want that. No, I'm not.
- 42:02But you got to get scandals. Right.
- 42:04I don't. It's embarrassing anybody.
- 42:08Embarrassing. It's embarrassing.
- 42:09You go to a restaurant and the first thing they're going to do
- 42:11is come out and clap their hands.
- 42:13Happy, happy joy, joy, happy, happy joy, joy.
- 42:16I mean like, give me a break. I don't want to be happy.
- 42:18Joy, joy. That's some of them.
- 42:20That's what they say. I mean it.
- 42:21Must be Italian. Whatever they want to say.
- 42:24That's like Ren and Cynthia or something.
- 42:26That's fantastic reference. Well, thank you anyways.
- 42:29We call this Are you ready speedy inside baseball.
- 42:32Now let's go deep, deep. What I am excited.
- 42:37This is inside. Baseball.
- 42:40Let's go, ladies and gentlemen. We got a lot to get to do with
- 42:44some baseball conversation. Let's start with the Yankees,
- 42:48shall we? The Yankees are doing pretty
- 42:51barn well right now. They just split a series in
- 42:54Texas, had some injuries that we should probably talk about.
- 42:58Dominguez, they brought him up. It's hit by a pitch on the
- 43:02elbow. X-rays are inconclusive.
- 43:05Got a CAT scan today. We'll find out if he has to hit
- 43:08the ill tomorrow. They just brought him up to
- 43:11replace Stanton, who has a calf injury.
- 43:14All right, we're probably not going to see him for the next
- 43:16six weeks, but again, I don't think anyone's really
- 43:19complaining because we know Stanton just needs to be healthy
- 43:22when we get to the playoffs. We know he still could play.
- 43:25Garrett Cole successfully completed his third rehab start
- 43:28yesterday, throwing 6 innings. Looks like he's probably going
- 43:33to be back for his next start. Lewis heel was optioned to AAA.
- 43:37He's really the only Yankee pitcher in the rotation that
- 43:40couldn't get it going so far in the regular season first place.
- 43:45Why is anybody complaining? They were in first place?
- 43:48The Yankees are going to have injuries.
- 43:50It's 162 game season. Here's the great thing about the
- 43:53Yankees. When players go down, you bring
- 43:55players up and go see what they just brought up.
- 43:58Elma Rodriguez, which everybody couldn't wait to see a guy that
- 44:01could throw 103 mph coming out of the bullpen.
- 44:04It's an absolute great thing to see some of these young players
- 44:08get called up. Eventually we're going to see
- 44:10Jones. That's what we want to see.
- 44:12That's what I've been waiting for.
- 44:14Yankee fans, we're winning. There's no complaints.
- 44:17Everybody knew that John Carlos Stanton wasn't going to stay
- 44:20healthy all season. John Carlos Stan was the only
- 44:22one that didn't believe they were going to stay healthy all
- 44:24he was going to be healthy all season.
- 44:26So, ladies and gentlemen, I'm I'm dancing because the Yankees
- 44:30are in first place in all of the American League.
- 44:33All loving it yeah they have a leeway now with the rest of the
- 44:37outside of the race. The rest of the American League
- 44:39is struggling to get these kids up and get them comfortable in
- 44:41these types of roles. Rodriguez, like Errol saying use
- 44:43the velocity right away to get that fastball going more in that
- 44:48like lesser innings and then bullpen type role, which I
- 44:50imagine once Gary Cole and grow down get healthy, they're going
- 44:53to transition him into that. So they're going to get him
- 44:54working. I always say with the Yankees,
- 44:56and I think they did this well with Severino at times, they did
- 44:58it well with some of the other young pitchers in early in Aaron
- 45:00Boone's tenure. They used him, got him used to
- 45:02being in the bullpen at points where they could prep him mid
- 45:06transition or starter later. And then Dominguez unfortunately
- 45:08gets hurt. He gets his chance, finally gets
- 45:10hurt. But if he gets his chance, we'll
- 45:12see what he does in Lombard. I know Jabba was talking about
- 45:15it last year, a fast riser in that farm system.
- 45:18Hold on. Garrick Cole will be back very
- 45:20soon. Schmidt will be back very soon.
- 45:24Rodon will be back very soon. Who has all these riches?
- 45:28The New York Yankees. Nobody's complaining right now.
- 45:31The Yankees are 20 and 11:00. They have a 645 percentage right
- 45:35now, winning percentage. They're eight and five at home,
- 45:3712 and six away, and they're eight and two in the last 10
- 45:40games. Nobody's crying except maybe
- 45:43somebody at second base because he's not getting an 8 year deal.
- 45:47I can guarantee you that. So.
- 45:49Guess what though, you're underselling it.
- 45:52Lombard junior was just promoted to AAA after destroying AA.
- 45:56He's going to be ready next year it looks like.
- 45:59And now Volpig is the candidate to come back and take the roster
- 46:04spot of Dominguez if he has to go on the IL.
- 46:07So we may be getting the entire offense and the big elite
- 46:11pitching back within the next three weeks and see what this
- 46:14team can really do. I'm going to tell you this right
- 46:16now. Anthony Volpe was not 100%
- 46:18healthy last year. For all the Yankee fans that
- 46:20were putting him down and screaming that he stinks, he
- 46:22stinks. He couldn't throw to first base,
- 46:24it was because of his arm. Now he's getting healthy.
- 46:27I'm telling you right now, Anthony Volpe is a future 2nd
- 46:30baseman for the New York Yankees.
- 46:33Jazz Jism is going to be traded at the trade deadline because
- 46:35the Yankees aren't going to extend them.
- 46:37They're going to try to get as much talent back for him, and
- 46:39they're going to move Anthony Volpe in a second, Lombard over
- 46:43there to shortstop, and the Yankees are going to solidify
- 46:45their infield for many, many years.
- 46:47Home run. Let's go, baby, let's go.
- 46:52All right, how do you feel about Rodriguez now?
- 46:56Rodriguez, he's probably only up for a cup of coffee because
- 46:59those guys are coming back, right?
- 47:01He wasn't great when he was up. He throws hard, you know, speedy
- 47:05what, what's the scouting report on him?
- 47:07What is it that he's got to work on to, you know, be an impact
- 47:11player on this roster? Can he be a guy they bring up
- 47:14for the bit, the bullpen for the stretch run later this season?
- 47:17That's what I'm thinking because I think if he's going to trust
- 47:19his fastball at the beginning of his career, you would imagine
- 47:22that's more of a relief pitcher type guy.
- 47:23A guy that you worry about, maybe he's a starter that could
- 47:25overthrow and maybe get too trusting of that velocity in
- 47:30games where again, these Major League hitters are going to
- 47:32figure it out. Now the cliche across base
- 47:34baseball is it's usually harder to figure out a rookie pitcher
- 47:37than it is a rookie hitter when they first come up.
- 47:40And because these guys aren't used to it, it's still harder to
- 47:42get out if you're a hitter than even the best hitters only get a
- 47:46hit of one of three times. So the cliche is that.
- 47:48But I think with the Yankee situation, I agree with Fish.
- 47:50I think get the best approach is to get him in the bullpen, maybe
- 47:53a spot start on occasionally as an opener, but until he gets his
- 47:56other pitches expanded I don't see him being a full time
- 47:59starter yet. OK, let's go talk about the team
- 48:03on the other side of the city. They're not doing near, not
- 48:07doing nearly as well. The story really was, you know,
- 48:13about are they going to pull the the cord and fire Mendoza?
- 48:16That still might happen. It hasn't happened yet, but
- 48:19they've had some injuries. Louis Robert Junior has a
- 48:24herniated disc in his lower back.
- 48:27That's not particularly good for a baseball player.
- 48:29That's a swing, a baseball bat and run in center field.
- 48:32He we're not going to see him for a little while.
- 48:34That's not good. That was the big signing by
- 48:36Stearns to replace Brandon Nimmo, right?
- 48:39Kodai Senga. Everyone was so high on him.
- 48:42I was thinking about him as a sleeper in fantasy this year.
- 48:46He's been got off for. He's another one with a lower
- 48:50back inflammation. Not good.
- 48:52We know Lynn Doors got the calf the day that's.
- 48:55Lindor is a big one. It's a big one.
- 48:57Polanco still down with the wrist.
- 48:59He's the risk for. The risk for a power hitter, not
- 49:02a good thing to have injured. I mean, it's terrible.
- 49:04And Jared Young, the guy that they brought up to that everyone
- 49:07was real high on, He tore his meniscus.
- 49:10So they're screwed. I don't know if it's Mendoza's
- 49:13fault. He shouldn't have to take the
- 49:15fall if they're trying now. AAA guys.
- 49:17It is David Stern's fault. I've been saying this over and
- 49:21over and over again. He's the one who built this
- 49:23team. He was the one out there saying
- 49:24boba shet, Boba shet, we can move to the third.
- 49:27He wasn't even a great shortstop.
- 49:29We're going to sit here and we're going to complain about
- 49:30this. Boba Shet hasn't hit.
- 49:32Lindor can't stay healthy. Juan Soto can't stay healthy.
- 49:35Polacco can't stay healthy. Nobody can stay healthy.
- 49:37And you're going to blame a manager who's been throwing
- 49:41everything out there he can and everybody's been sitting here.
- 49:44Lindor. And so does the other one that
- 49:45sticks up for him. And those are two guys that
- 49:47don't like each other, the locker room and as far as the
- 49:50dugout they don't like, there's a lot of people on that dugout
- 49:53that don't like each other. You can see it.
- 49:55They traded Brandon Nimmo. Brandon Nimmo was one of the
- 49:57leaders. Alonzo was one of the leaders.
- 50:00McNeil was one of the leaders. You traded 3 guy.
- 50:02You let go of three guys that were leaders in that locker
- 50:06room. And what did you bring in?
- 50:07You brought in a bunch of me players.
- 50:09Me, me, me, me. And that's why the New York Mets
- 50:12stick. And the Mets are going nowhere
- 50:14this year. David Stern should be losing his
- 50:16job. Mendoza should be losing his
- 50:18job. Bring Mark DeRosa in.
- 50:21I've been saying it, bring it to New York.
- 50:24I like Mark DeRosa. If the Yankees don't want them,
- 50:26bring them with the Mets. I'll root for the Mets, too.
- 50:29Mark DeRosa, I'm out there for. So you know, it's rock bottom
- 50:33when there was a Instagram post on bet MGM posting that Brandon
- 50:37Nimmo has a 823. I think OPS Pete Alonso, even in
- 50:41a in a down year is still in the 750 range.
- 50:44And then Jeff McNeil is it has a 739 OPS, which he hasn't done I
- 50:49think ever as a bet in a full season.
- 50:51I think he did when he first came up with 2018 to half a
- 50:53season and then Marcus Simeon 585, Beau Bichette 575 and
- 50:58Polanco 530 something. That's where you know your moves
- 51:02have really gone wrong. Robert was a a low flyer risk.
- 51:05We knew he was. Say it's feeding.
- 51:07Say it. What do they do with them?
- 51:08What do they do with them? David Stearns?
- 51:11What do the Mets do with them? Well, they'll keep them as long.
- 51:13As say it. Say it as you're.
- 51:14Fired. Say it.
- 51:16No, I'm not. I'm not Josh.
- 51:17I'm not going to do wrestling promos.
- 51:19You're fired. I'll let Josh do that on his
- 51:21show. At that point, that's what I'd
- 51:22be doing. Yeah.
- 51:23Yeah. Because.
- 51:24I'd be out there going to a Met game and I'd be like, you're
- 51:27fired, you're fired, David Stearns, you're fired.
- 51:31Yeah, you and Josh could go for an old.
- 51:32School fire. And make those kind of analogies
- 51:34work. I know for sure a wrestling fan,
- 51:36you could definitely kind of make that kind of.
- 51:37Thing, I'm not a wrestling fan anymore, but I just old school
- 51:40got to throw it out there. I got to throw it out there.
- 51:42Vince McMahon, you're fired because that's where David
- 51:44Stearns needs to be. That team is an absolute
- 51:48debacle. Get him out.
- 51:49He's following a get him out since the last year straight
- 51:51deadline when that was an absolute debacle as well.
- 51:53Getting Cedric Bullen's, getting three relief pitchers that did
- 51:55not work out. They tried to trade for robbery
- 51:56last year and that would have been an absolute disaster as
- 51:58well because he didn't hit in the second-half of the season.
- 52:00Now he's hurt again. Polanco, who you pay $20 million
- 52:04for for one year, he's hurt now and he's a fluky player to begin
- 52:07with. So yeah, you could have a couple
- 52:09stars that are playing reasonably well.
- 52:11McLean, Clay Holmes actually pitched pretty well.
- 52:13But when you had have hitting it all for offense are supposed to
- 52:17be a top five offense on paper and.
- 52:19As Mike Francesa always said, they stink.
- 52:23Yeah, that might be accurate in this case because your dial you
- 52:27lost two out of three to fish. We talked about this.
- 52:29They were the 4th worst team at the end of since the end of June
- 52:32last year. The Nationals were one of those
- 52:34teams worst, but they lost two out of three to them.
- 52:37I, I have like a, a number thing with statistic.
- 52:40It's not exactly advanced statistic.
- 52:42It's just my like ballpark thing.
- 52:43Errol, you might appreciate this one.
- 52:45It's not advanced. It's just like a fish statistic.
- 52:47If your OPS is below 700, you're not a great player.
- 52:52If you're below 600, you're not a Major League player.
- 52:55Let me tell you, the OPS is on this Mets team right now.
- 52:58Now Juan Soto is at 1000. We know Juan Soto's a great
- 53:02player. He's one of the 10 best players,
- 53:03if not 5 best hitters in all of the game.
- 53:07Boba Shet is at a 589, not a Major League player.
- 53:14MJ Melendez only got a few at bats, hasn't played a lot, so
- 53:16he's got good numbers right now. He had a good day.
- 53:18He had a home run today. Mark Vientos, 560 something.
- 53:23Brett Beatty 566, Marcus Semion 566, bench 526.
- 53:35Alvarez is at 718 but again he's been out and Ronnie Mauricio
- 53:40just joined the team but he's at a like not even 400.
- 53:43There are like 3 Major League players on this roster right
- 53:47now. Not good, not good men fans, not
- 53:51good at all. Rock.
- 53:52Bottom Rock bottom Little Eminem song Rock bottom.
- 53:58Really, really kind. Of I don't want to sing.
- 54:00On this show aren't worthy for a rapper like.
- 54:02I don't want to scare anybody away, so I'm not singing on the
- 54:04show. So do they fire Mendoza?
- 54:06Are they just going to like, throw him to the wolves?
- 54:08They're going. To get out until the end of the
- 54:10month. They're going to wait until the
- 54:11All Star break and then they're going to fire him.
- 54:13They're going to give it time because you get a couple of, you
- 54:15get like a week and a half to get somebody in there to learn
- 54:18that roster. I think they wait.
- 54:19David Stearns will wait. He'll bring somebody in or bring
- 54:22a bench coach. Gibbons, right, probably him in.
- 54:26If he fails, David Stearns will go in the offseason and so will
- 54:29this whole coaching staff, which is horrible.
- 54:32We're just all hired this year, but besides Mendoza.
- 54:35Yes. All right, let's move on.
- 54:38All right, this ones real wild one.
- 54:40The Phillies had a real slow start to the season.
- 54:42No defense, no pitching to be found on that roster to start
- 54:45the year with Wheeler hurt, Lizardo struggling out the gate.
- 54:49He's been a little bit better recently, but they fired Rob
- 54:52Thompson after all the accolades and how everyone kind of
- 54:56recognized him, I thought is one of the five best managers in the
- 54:59game. I think everyone kind of felt
- 55:00that way. Well, I guess you know, one
- 55:04man's trash is going to be another man's treasure with
- 55:06Thompson. But Don Mattingly gets to become
- 55:09the interim manager right now. Although the Phillies, before
- 55:12they gave it to Mattingly, offered the job to Alex, Korra,
- 55:16who was fired the day before or two days before by the Red Sox,
- 55:20said no. Alex Korra doesn't want this
- 55:22team. He wants to go to a young team.
- 55:23If the Padres open up for a new coach next year, new manager
- 55:27next year, I could see him going there.
- 55:28He'll go to a team that makes sense for him.
- 55:30Maybe Houston. If if Houston wants to bring him
- 55:33in as an assistant coach and assistant manager and maybe
- 55:36become the manager in the future, that could happen.
- 55:38He wants to go to an organization that makes sense
- 55:40for him. I love Don Madam, but Rob
- 55:44Thompson, this is a guy that took this team all the way over
- 55:47the last two years. This team was one of the best
- 55:49teams in baseball with all the injuries and all the different
- 55:52players that he had to bring up and, and and develop.
- 55:55This guy has been one of the best managers ever since he took
- 55:58over for Joe Girardi. He's been one of the best
- 56:00managers in baseball, one of the most successful managers.
- 56:03No, he hasn't won in World Series.
- 56:05Aaron Boo never won a World Series and has one of the best
- 56:07records right now as a manager in all the baseball.
- 56:09I'm not going to sit there and blame Rob Thompson on the lack
- 56:12of talent that they have. Schwarber's old, they extended
- 56:16him. Bryce Harper's old, they
- 56:18extended him To me, this is an old team and, and, and Zach
- 56:22Wheeler, as good as he is, he hasn't looked the same this
- 56:25year. Even coming back, he's been
- 56:27fighting injury. This is an old team.
- 56:29They had to get more youth and now they bring in Donnie
- 56:31Baseball. I love Don Manningly, he's my
- 56:33favorite player. Don Manley hasn't won anything
- 56:36as a manager, as assistant manager, as a player.
- 56:40Donnie, I hope you do well over there.
- 56:42I hope you succeed. I hope you win over there.
- 56:44The chances of that happen are very slim.
- 56:47Just say. I think the Phillies are
- 56:48probably looking for that same kind of spark though when
- 56:50Thompson was higher because Thompson was hired as an interim
- 56:52at the time in 2022 when things just got very stale with
- 56:55Girardi. Girardi went there in 2019 to
- 56:58restabilize a team that had like 9 straight losing seasons after
- 57:01they had that core that went to the World Series and made it to
- 57:04the NLCSA lot. And he stabilized it to get to a
- 57:07World Series as a six seed in the first year of a new
- 57:10expansion of it. And again, it just wears down in
- 57:12a lot of these players. A lot of these players have big
- 57:14egos and eventually caught up to them.
- 57:16So I think they're trusting that same kind of spark with now a
- 57:19different type of mindset. Thompson was a younger manager
- 57:21at the time. Manually.
- 57:22He's more of an old school guy. Maybe they're trusting maybe an
- 57:24older team, a veteran team that is maybe in this last ditch.
- 57:27I thought the last ditch effort was going to come for them last
- 57:29year because they were going to be very cashed up.
- 57:31Like you were saying, Errol, they couldn't really do much
- 57:32this offseason besides sign their own players back really.
- 57:36And they really were not thinking about doing that
- 57:38either. Yeah.
- 57:38And they barely were able to do it with Swarber because Swarber
- 57:41had a better offer from Cincinnati.
- 57:42He elected to take less to go to Philadelphia.
- 57:44And maybe he maybe he regrets that.
- 57:46Because of Coach Thompson, because of Coach Thompson.
- 57:49He wanted to stay there with Coach Thompson and now he's
- 57:52getting fired 30 and 30 something games into the season.
- 57:56It doesn't make any sense. Now, again, Schwarber was not on
- 57:58the team in 2022 when they did that.
- 58:00They were looking for that spark somewhere else.
- 58:02Maybe they get that with the rest of the players.
- 58:04Maybe Schwarber will buy in later in the season because he
- 58:06is a good playoff player. Obviously he's still valuable
- 58:07for that kind of thing and the on base percentage.
- 58:09So I think they're trying to recreate the 20/20/22 team by
- 58:13making this kind of move and hoping they get a quick switch.
- 58:15I don't think they're as dead as the Mets are, but I still don't
- 58:17know if it'll happen. All right, let's get into some
- 58:21of the injuries in the league before we get out of this.
- 58:24Oh, I'm sorry. I have one more.
- 58:25That's a real big one. Errol, you're going to like this
- 58:27story. Shohei Ohtani has gotten some
- 58:30flak because of playoffs. Maybe he isn't the superstar
- 58:34that we thought of him as during the regular season.
- 58:37This year, Dave Roberts and the Dodgers have taken a new
- 58:40approach. They're not having him hit on
- 58:42days that he pitches. It's the first time that they're
- 58:45doing that. They had not done that before.
- 58:47He'd always hit when he pitched. They're trying to keep him fresh
- 58:50for October. Seems like a pretty logical
- 58:53thing. They're going to be doing it on
- 58:54a start by start basis, but so far they have not hit him and
- 58:58he's been one of the best pitchers in baseball to start
- 59:01the season on top of being his usual pretty awesome self on
- 59:05offense. Well, interesting.
- 59:06We know that Shay Otani is one of the top three top two players
- 59:10in the league. You can argue he's having a
- 59:12great season as a pitcher. He's having probably his best
- 59:14season as a pitcher and maybe Dave Roberts has it right.
- 59:18But I know Shay Otani wants to be in that line up.
- 59:20I know he wants to hit every single time he pitches.
- 59:23But it's for the team. They want to win another World
- 59:25Series because we all know they're going on strike next
- 59:28year. Major League Baseball is going
- 59:30on a strike and they're probably not going to have much of A
- 59:32season next year. So they want to win their third
- 59:35championship in a row, which a lot of teams are going to have
- 59:38their own thoughts to that, but we'll see what happens.
- 59:41But so Tony is one of the best players in baseball.
- 59:43He's a Unicorn, as we've heard Alex Rodriguez say it, as we
- 59:46heard David Ortiz say it and Derek Jeter say it.
- 59:49He's a special player. He might this year win a Cy
- 59:52Young. If he wins a Cy Young, he's
- 59:55probably not going to win the MVP because I don't think he can
- 59:57do those two things at a high clip.
- 1:00:01What he's doing right now, yeah. But you're trying to protect
- 1:00:03your asset because you have all the other pitchers that are hurt
- 1:00:06right now. You have a guy in Sasaki that's
- 1:00:07really struggle. Obviously Fish, you mentioned
- 1:00:09Blake Snell's injury. So you want to be able to do it
- 1:00:11where you have enough depth with the offense to make it work.
- 1:00:14They've they're hitting like crazy.
- 1:00:15Like Errol saying last week, they're young hitters are
- 1:00:17hitting like crazy too. And when you have that
- 1:00:19combination, you want him to be able to pitch at the best level
- 1:00:21he's ever pitched in his career. The hitting will come,
- 1:00:23obviously, oh, Tony had that rough first couple weeks to
- 1:00:26start the season. But this is a team like the
- 1:00:28Yankees that have the luxury to be able to do this kind of
- 1:00:30experiment now where you can make it easier for a ton to
- 1:00:33pitch at this highest level. This is the best he's ever
- 1:00:35pitched and you want him to be able to get to that next level
- 1:00:38to be able to three peat. I think they they probably 3
- 1:00:40peat anyway if they don't have enough injuries as it is, but
- 1:00:42they will come injuries in the past.
- 1:00:44Who knows to make it work. I I like this move a lot.
- 1:00:45We'll see how long it lasts, but I think it's good.
- 1:00:49Yeah, they got glass now as like the number two over there right
- 1:00:52now because he's been absolutely killing it.
- 1:00:54He's another guy, though. Always worry about him with the
- 1:00:56injuries. His body is glass.
- 1:00:58That's that's why I call it glass now.
- 1:01:00He he his body is his bones are like glass, so had to.
- 1:01:04Say, well, let's talk about other guys who are on the Mr.
- 1:01:07Glass injury report here. I was reveling in it when we
- 1:01:12talked about the Red Sox firing Kora on Monday.
- 1:01:15Well, Garrett Crochet since then has been placed on the 15 day IL
- 1:01:20with left shoulder inflammation. Not what the left-handed pitcher
- 1:01:26wants to hear. If there's a year to shut him
- 1:01:28down to make sure he's not hurt, it would be now.
- 1:01:31I encourage all Red Sox management to just give up on
- 1:01:35the season now and let us beat you up all here.
- 1:01:39Trade them. They're not going to do that.
- 1:01:42It's typical Red Sox fashion. When they quit, they quit big
- 1:01:46and the season is not over. There's a lot of baseball to be
- 1:01:48played, there's a lot of baseball to be left, and now all
- 1:01:51of a sudden they're giving up. This sounds like the New York
- 1:01:54Rangers. Chris Drury wrote a story.
- 1:01:57What was it? What was the thing that he said?
- 1:01:59The sequel of the letter. The sequel of a letter.
- 1:02:02We're not rebuilding. We're retooling.
- 1:02:03We're retooling. Tool retooling.
- 1:02:06And he writes it 30 games into the season when there's like 650
- 1:02:10games left of the season and given up on the season.
- 1:02:13It made no sense. But that's Chris Drury and he
- 1:02:16still has a job. And now the Red Sox are doing
- 1:02:18the same. They gave up on Alex Corry.
- 1:02:19They gave up on their coaching staff because they started off
- 1:02:22very, very slow it and then they went 17 to 1 and then they still
- 1:02:26fire him. Why?
- 1:02:27Because he lost against the Yankees.
- 1:02:29It's very Celtic like, if you know what I mean.
- 1:02:32The Knicks beat the Celtics in the beginning of the season and
- 1:02:35Jaylen Brown had to call a team meeting because the Knicks beat
- 1:02:38him. Come on, are you kidding me?
- 1:02:41Please. Yeah, there's going to be a lot
- 1:02:42that's going to have to transform this culture change.
- 1:02:44I know a lot of these other pitchers, in the absence of
- 1:02:46Crochet, you're going to have to step up in the quantity when you
- 1:02:49look at somebody else. Crochet, who does a lot of
- 1:02:51innings, was a Cy Young finalist last year with a heavy strikeout
- 1:02:55guy, and his advance stats were very good.
- 1:02:57With the White Sox, has just never got overshadowed because
- 1:02:59the White Sox were such a crappy team and a crappy run
- 1:03:01organization. Now he goes to the Red Sox.
- 1:03:03You think you're going to a more stable organization.
- 1:03:05And then once he gets there, Craig Breslow makes a big drama
- 1:03:07about Rafael Devers for five months.
- 1:03:09Then he gets traded and the team rallies around it for a while,
- 1:03:12good enough to make the playoffs.
- 1:03:13So you have these young players that have the adversity and now
- 1:03:15who? The hell is Craig Breslow?
- 1:03:17I mean a. Guy that is getting way too much
- 1:03:19in the way, just like Chris Drury likes to do, just like the
- 1:03:22Rangers organization Asia likes to do with their players and
- 1:03:25wants to try to defend them recklessly for whatever reason.
- 1:03:27Except if you're Raphael Devers, then you can just get thrown to
- 1:03:29the wolves like he has. But you have a case just.
- 1:03:33Had to do that. You have a case where now you're
- 1:03:35doing this with crochet and you really you just paid him a good
- 1:03:38contract, seven years, 175 for a guy that's a top 10, borderline
- 1:03:41top five pitcher of baseball when he is healthy.
- 1:03:43And now you're going to try to tamper with this and not do it
- 1:03:46right. And you're right.
- 1:03:47This is a team that doesn't look like it's quitting.
- 1:03:49They've won a lot since they've fire, Cora.
- 1:03:52We'll see if it lasts. But yeah, it's not an ideal
- 1:03:54situation where you want to get these young players into that
- 1:03:57system. And Fish, you mentioned it last
- 1:03:58year too, or I think either on Inside Baseball or on Goody's
- 1:04:01segment, something like that with the the Red Sox pitching,
- 1:04:05Red Sox prospect development thing that's supposed to be this
- 1:04:08new age thing. Well, it's not going to do well
- 1:04:10if they keep treating their players like this.
- 1:04:13Yeah, I just love that they have crap management now.
- 1:04:16It's just a beautiful thing that they're going to suck.
- 1:04:18Let's talk about some of the other.
- 1:04:21You know, did you see Junior Caminero fouled the ball off the
- 1:04:24plate and it bounced up and whacked him in the face and they
- 1:04:27thought he broke his jaw? Didn't There was no fracture in
- 1:04:31the jaw back in the lineup? I actually saw a kid in a Little
- 1:04:36League game I was playing foul a ball and break his nose just on
- 1:04:39a foul tip and it smashed him in those.
- 1:04:41You ever see anything like a freak injury like that?
- 1:04:44Yeah, I've seen a kid foul a ball and hit an umpire in the
- 1:04:48you know what? Not wearing a cup, You know
- 1:04:50where he was, you know where he went.
- 1:04:53Paramedics, hospital, here we come.
- 1:04:56No balls for him anymore, probably.
- 1:04:59I remember it. I actually was humping in that
- 1:05:02game when I found out the umpire wasn't wearing a cup over there
- 1:05:05and we had to call paramedics. I mean, he was in a lot of pain.
- 1:05:09That was pretty hard. Foul ball right in his private
- 1:05:12area, Speedy in his keister right over there.
- 1:05:15Yeah, for somebody as big as common Arrow, so you definitely
- 1:05:17don't want. That I don't know how big he was
- 1:05:19over there. We'd have to ask.
- 1:05:20Yeah, I don't know about your your Little League story.
- 1:05:22It wasn't a Little League, it was high school.
- 1:05:24Or high school. OK, but I, I know you've
- 1:05:26mentioned that story in the past.
- 1:05:27I I can't. Joe, I mentioned other stories,
- 1:05:30not that story. Yeah, you did mention this one
- 1:05:32too to some of our guests, but as far as Cominero, he's a
- 1:05:36powerful guy. So you wonder if something like
- 1:05:38that, how much it'll affect him. You definitely don't want this
- 1:05:40for a race team that's that's hot right now.
- 1:05:42Somebody's got to step. The riches of the Blue Jays and
- 1:05:45the Red Sox struggling. It's been the race so far and
- 1:05:47you want for them that deal with all these pitching injuries, you
- 1:05:49want them to be able to keep it up.
- 1:05:50This is a guy that had a lot of power last year, definitely
- 1:05:53showed it from the base percentage perspective too in
- 1:05:55the second-half the season kept them competitive for a while.
- 1:05:57So hopefully it's not too bad. But you always wonder with
- 1:06:00somebody that big. I'm nuts.
- 1:06:03I probably would have kept them out another day personally.
- 1:06:05You know, I it just with that, with something you get shook in
- 1:06:08the head like that, you never know it's going to react.
- 1:06:09Remember what happened to Rizzo? You know, he was playing pretty
- 1:06:12well for the Yankees and then he had this like mystery
- 1:06:14concussion. They didn't diagnose it.
- 1:06:17He played with it and he would. He never was good again.
- 1:06:19He just couldn't really play again.
- 1:06:21I just worry about weird things with the head.
- 1:06:24Let's just some of the other injuries.
- 1:06:25Javi Baez, Casey Mize and the Tigers both got hurt on the same
- 1:06:29day, both on the IL ankle for Baez, abductor strain for Mize.
- 1:06:34One of the better players, Brandon Woodruff left his start
- 1:06:38today not looking good. His velocity was down like like
- 1:06:427 miles an hour. That usually means you have a
- 1:06:45really bad injury in your arm. They're probably it's probably a
- 1:06:49Tommy John thing. He just had his shoulder fixed,
- 1:06:52you say? Kikuchi left with shoulder
- 1:06:53tightness today. Trevor Rogers.
- 1:06:56Acuchi, Acuchi. Speedy say that.
- 1:06:58Acuchi, Acuchi, Acuchi like a Cuchi.
- 1:07:02Cuchi. Kikuchi, Kikuchi, Kikuchi.
- 1:07:03Say it. Kikuchi.
- 1:07:05OK, there we go. I don't know about that one.
- 1:07:10There's 3 Rogers brothers, the one on the Orioles that used to
- 1:07:13be on the Marlins. He has a serious illness.
- 1:07:16They're not saying what it is. Is he related to Aaron Rodgers?
- 1:07:20No, no, no D. I'm just kidding.
- 1:07:22I'm just kidding. He probably has a wife that
- 1:07:24actually exists. You're sure it's not his hands,
- 1:07:27Brittany? No, Trevor Rodgers, I'm saying
- 1:07:30there's a vote. I got.
- 1:07:31That as a vote there. Hi, Brittany.
- 1:07:33How are you? I'm going.
- 1:07:34Let me. I'm going to put my hands in my
- 1:07:36pants tonight. OK, let's do it.
- 1:07:38Let's go. Errol, I'm trying to say a man
- 1:07:41is. Sick.
- 1:07:42I'm just talking to my hands. We have Nathan's watching.
- 1:07:47Best wishes to him. Hopefully he's not that sick.
- 1:07:50He'll be coming back. Jonathan India was shut down for
- 1:07:52the season. Labrum repair and Jeffrey
- 1:07:55Springs, who's now on the Sacramento A's.
- 1:07:59I guess he's one of their. He's probably one of their best
- 1:08:02pitchers. He left with an injury today as
- 1:08:05well. That's the injury report inside
- 1:08:09baseball. How wonderful.
- 1:08:11There's a lot of injuries in professional sports.
- 1:08:13This is what happens. You play at a high level and
- 1:08:15things happen. We're going to cry about it.
- 1:08:18I mean, Q cries about a lot of things.
- 1:08:19I mean, you know what? He should wear a hat, says
- 1:08:23instead of no idols, it should be no idiots, No.
- 1:08:27Idols. No, idiots.
- 1:08:29There's a lot of idiots, I can tell you.

- 1:08:42What am I supposed to be a Beaver there, I mean?
- 1:08:45Chip Chipmunk. I told fish to make you make you
- 1:08:50like the Christmas chipmunks. So you all I want for Christmas
- 1:08:52my 2 front teeth. You guys idiots, I do want my 2
- 1:08:55front teeth fixed right now, but my teeth do not look like that
