- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel, Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:06Speaker 2: What's up everybody?
- 0:07Speaker 3: Welcome to move the sticks, DJ, Bucky, Rhett back with you.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Uh, coming off of a Monday.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Night massacre, I think that would be an appropriate way
- 0:16Speaker 3: to describe what we saw last night.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Buck.
- 0:18Speaker 2: How are you doing man? Welcome back from from lod
- 0:20Speaker 2: and how was the flight?
- 0:23Speaker 4: A long one?
- 0:23Speaker 5: Then I'm gonna do another one this weekend, so back
- 0:26Speaker 5: and forth. I will say, Rhett, you were a one
- 0:30Speaker 5: about the lounges, making sure you make our way to
- 0:32Speaker 5: certain lounges MX lounge version and gotta get it done loud.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I like it. There's a lot, a lot of
- 0:38Speaker 4: fun hanging there. But man, eleven hours, you're gonna.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Spend more time in like international airspace in the last
- 0:47Speaker 1: in the next seven days than in either London or
- 0:50Speaker 1: the United States. So that's that's what It's pretty solid.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Good for you, man, But.
- 0:54Speaker 4: You know, but you know what makes it worth it
- 0:56Speaker 4: being diamond. We won't we want.
- 1:00Speaker 5: Airline, but you know what, you know what it's worth
- 1:03Speaker 5: it When you're a diamond, it doesn't matter.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Hey, joying Now it's all going away, brother.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Hey, No, No, they talked about some changes. They talked
- 1:13Speaker 4: about some changes trying to bring it back.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll tell you what. This is a glimpse inside
- 1:18Speaker 2: to the scouting robe.
- 1:19Speaker 3: By the way, we talked about the scouting show about
- 1:22Speaker 3: hotel points and airline miles than the road dog scouts.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Buck, let's jump into last night's game.
- 1:28Speaker 3: This was a to say, it was a buck kicking
- 1:32Speaker 3: his innerceavement. Twenty four to three is the final score.
- 1:33Speaker 3: It didn't even feel that close in a game where
- 1:36Speaker 3: the Giants offensively ran the ball pretty well but didn't
- 1:39Speaker 3: really have to do anything.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I mean, sorry, not the Giants.
- 1:41Speaker 3: The Seahawks random pretty well, but other than that, they
- 1:44Speaker 3: didn't have to really do anything offensively. They just throw
- 1:47Speaker 3: your defense out there and watch the Giants implode offensively,
- 1:51Speaker 3: which is what happened.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Eleven sacks, turnovers.
- 1:55Speaker 3: The Giants couldn't do anything offensively in this game, and
- 1:58Speaker 3: it felt like Pete Carroll on the Sea Hawks were
- 2:00Speaker 3: content to just, hey, let's just run the ball and
- 2:02Speaker 3: get out of here.
- 2:02Speaker 1: They're not going to do anything on the other side.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Yeah, there's something to it.
- 2:05Speaker 5: It was very kind of like a throwback feel to
- 2:08Speaker 5: this game when it came from the Seahawks perspective defense
- 2:11Speaker 5: was able to get after the eleven sacks and the
- 2:14Speaker 5: relentless pressure that they were able to apply on Daniel Jones.
- 2:17Speaker 4: To me, that's what stood out.
- 2:18Speaker 5: This is a team that has really tried to find
- 2:21Speaker 5: its way on defense, and we're beginning to see the
- 2:24Speaker 5: last two classes that they've stacked together, some of the
- 2:27Speaker 5: free agent additions that they've added to it. This is
- 2:31Speaker 5: more like the vintage Seahawks teams that we remember from
- 2:34Speaker 5: the twenty tens. If they're able to kind of harass
- 2:36Speaker 5: quarterbacks and bruising, batter running backs and wide receivers like
- 2:41Speaker 5: they were.
- 2:41Speaker 4: On Monday Night, this Seattle Seahawk.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Team looks really, really good in a division that also
- 2:47Speaker 5: features a bully into San Francisco forty nine ers. This
- 2:49Speaker 5: looks like a team that can go toe to toe
- 2:51Speaker 5: with some of those top teams.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yeah, Hawks and Niners first matchup will be pretty interesting here.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You know, I kept looking at what the Giants were
- 2:58Speaker 1: dealing with, right and I'll be they're short handed coming
- 3:00Speaker 1: in along the offensive line. Andrew Thomas is out again
- 3:04Speaker 1: has been out. Obviously, They're still not quite where they
- 3:08Speaker 1: want to be on the right side. But then you
- 3:10Speaker 1: know you got John Michael Schmidtz, the rookie center who
- 3:13Speaker 1: leaves in the first quarter of the game. You gotta
- 3:15Speaker 1: move Bretison over to center. Lemieux comes in and guard.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Then Lemieux goes down in the fourth quarter, and yeah,
- 3:19Speaker 1: you're talking about like preseason rotations of offensive linemen in
- 3:23Speaker 1: here in the second half, and it showed. But I
- 3:26Speaker 1: think to say that it was all because the giants
- 3:28Speaker 1: Seva patchwork offensive line right now is not giving enough
- 3:31Speaker 1: proper respect to the Seattle Seahawks, who not only thirty
- 3:35Speaker 1: six pressures this week, okay, thirty six pressures to leave
- 3:39Speaker 1: the league Daniel Jones and the Giants this week. But
- 3:42Speaker 1: it's not just this week. They led the league in
- 3:45Speaker 1: pressures last week too. Like this, they are sandwiched right
- 3:49Speaker 1: in between the forty nine ers and the Cowboys amongst
- 3:52Speaker 1: teams that are getting the most pressure on quarterbacks right
- 3:54Speaker 1: now at number two. That's pretty dang good. And who's
- 3:56Speaker 1: who's doing it? Yeah, Newtendan wils who's part of it?
- 4:00Speaker 1: How about Derek Hall, the rookie second round pick from Auburn.
- 4:03Speaker 1: And we didn't talk about a ton really going into
- 4:06Speaker 1: the draft last year. But you know it was one
- 4:08Speaker 1: of those guys that was putting a ton of pressure
- 4:10Speaker 1: on Daniel Jones last night. How about Boye Mafe really
- 4:13Speaker 1: starting to come on the second round pick a couple
- 4:15Speaker 1: of years agout of Minnesota, Like they've got some young
- 4:18Speaker 1: players in there, let you know some vintage you know,
- 4:20Speaker 1: some veteran excuse me, guys as well. And then you
- 4:24Speaker 1: had a vintage performance from Bobby Wagner too. And when
- 4:27Speaker 1: you start getting all that pressure DJ, that's when guys
- 4:29Speaker 1: like Devin Witherspoon start to pay off in the back end.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna get to Witherspoons just a second. I'm
- 4:34Speaker 3: gonna go back though. You mentioned Derek Hall. Let's go
- 4:36Speaker 3: back to the press scouting pre draft nuggets on him.
- 4:39Speaker 3: So he was almost sixt three, two hundred and fifty
- 4:41Speaker 3: four pounds. He had thirty four and a half inch arms,
- 4:43Speaker 3: so really really long arms. He ran four five five,
- 4:45Speaker 3: which is an outstanding time. I go back through my
- 4:48Speaker 3: notes on him. He was my sixty fourth overall player.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Long and explosive, he's a little bit tight hip. They
- 4:54Speaker 3: used him kind of as a walk around. Blitzer moved
- 4:57Speaker 3: him around, let him work up and down the line
- 4:59Speaker 3: of scrimmage. He could really really close. The effort was outstanding,
- 5:03Speaker 3: which we always preach on here about that being one
- 5:06Speaker 3: of the key traits of every elite pass rusher is
- 5:08Speaker 3: the effort and the consistency of the effort. He could
- 5:10Speaker 3: really set the edge in the run game as well.
- 5:12Speaker 3: So nice to see him kind of emerging that burst
- 5:15Speaker 3: that we saw in college. That's translated, But I want
- 5:18Speaker 3: to go the highlight of the day. I mean, Devin
- 5:20Speaker 3: Witherspoon has two sacks, has a pick six ninety plus
- 5:24Speaker 3: yards down there right on the goal line. He was
- 5:26Speaker 3: all over the field and they're playing him inside at
- 5:28Speaker 3: nickel because of some injuries. And I go back through
- 5:31Speaker 3: and I look at my notes. You know, this ought
- 5:33Speaker 3: to be encouraging to you if you're a little undersized
- 5:35Speaker 3: out there and you love the.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Game of football.
- 5:36Speaker 4: And he said, maybe I'm too small.
- 5:38Speaker 3: The guy you're looking at with the with the pick
- 5:40Speaker 3: six here and the two sacks was one hundred and
- 5:42Speaker 3: fifty pounds as a freshman in college. They played him inside,
- 5:46Speaker 3: they played him outside. He ended up getting up to
- 5:48Speaker 3: one hundred and eighty one pounds by the combine, but
- 5:52Speaker 3: I had compared him to Samari Roll coming out, and
- 5:54Speaker 3: he was the top corner for me in the draft
- 5:56Speaker 3: in this last year's class, but in terms of a
- 5:58Speaker 3: slighter frame, but just unbelo evil instincts, ball skills, playmaking ability.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Buck watching that game last night and seeing him playing
- 6:05Speaker 3: the nickel, I was thinking of Antoine Winfield Senior, and
- 6:08Speaker 3: I know he's taller than him, Antoine Winfield Senior, I
- 6:11Speaker 3: think with five nine or maybe even a little under
- 6:12Speaker 3: five to nine, But the way he played that nickel position.
- 6:15Speaker 4: I saw the same thing last night with Witherspoon.
- 6:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean that's not a bad comparison because you
- 6:21Speaker 5: just think about what Antoine Winfield was able to do
- 6:24Speaker 5: in the league for a long time, and he's certainly
- 6:25Speaker 5: passed down some of those tips and instincts to his son.
- 6:29Speaker 5: But for Witherspoon, the thing that stood out to me
- 6:32Speaker 5: is the nickel position is the hardest position to master
- 6:36Speaker 5: in the second year because you're having to deal with
- 6:38Speaker 5: the money game, the passing game two way goes from
- 6:40Speaker 5: wide receivers. The instincts and awareness that are required to
- 6:43Speaker 5: play that position, it's typically not one that you can
- 6:45Speaker 5: put a novice in there. He jumped in after Jamal
- 6:48Speaker 5: Adams subse a concussion and they don't skip a beat.
- 6:51Speaker 5: They bliss him off the edge a couple of times
- 6:53Speaker 5: he gets in there. It makes plays. We've seen it
- 6:55Speaker 5: on tape. He wasn't afraid to mix it up, putting
- 6:58Speaker 5: another playmaker owned the field of the position where he's
- 7:02Speaker 5: kind of close to the ball. The Seahawks might have
- 7:04Speaker 5: accidentally uncover something that allows their defense to go to
- 7:07Speaker 5: another level this season.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Yeah, he doesn't play with any hesitation. He trusts his
- 7:12Speaker 3: eyes and he pulls the trigger and goes. And that's
- 7:14Speaker 3: something you saw as a result of tape study, by
- 7:16Speaker 3: the way, which he did at Illinois.
- 7:18Speaker 2: They raved about it.
- 7:18Speaker 3: And obviously he's doing the same thing here with Pete
- 7:21Speaker 3: Carroll and these Seahawks. So a great, great start to
- 7:23Speaker 3: the career for Devin Witherspoon. Somebody who's having an unbelievable
- 7:27Speaker 3: year is with the forty nine ers.
- 7:29Speaker 2: That shouldn't be a shock. It's Christian McCaffrey.
- 7:31Speaker 3: This is a perfect marriage of skill set which is
- 7:34Speaker 3: special with scheme and with Kyle Shanahan an offensive line,
- 7:38Speaker 3: and he's been outstanding. But you look at the touches here, man,
- 7:41Speaker 3: it's piling up. You look at this game Week four
- 7:44Speaker 3: against the Cardinals, twenty seven for McCaffrey, twenty four for
- 7:47Speaker 3: everybody else. The productions off the charts there, rat But
- 7:51Speaker 3: when you look at just the touches, he's on pace
- 7:54Speaker 3: for three hundred and forty carries. That would be a
- 7:57Speaker 3: career high by thirty something rushes. He also catching the
- 8:00Speaker 3: ball out of the backfield as well.
- 8:02Speaker 4: You see the.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Number forty six percent of the team's touches, most in
- 8:06Speaker 3: the NFL for Christian McCaffrey. Is this Is this a concern?
- 8:10Speaker 3: Is this something they need to monitor and dial down
- 8:12Speaker 3: a little bit? Or did you just go with the hey,
- 8:13Speaker 3: we're going to run to the wheels fall off on
- 8:15Speaker 3: this one.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Well, you know, I'm okay with running till the wheels
- 8:19Speaker 1: fall off, as long as that's in, you know, like
- 8:21Speaker 1: the third weekend of February and not like week sixteen,
- 8:25Speaker 1: you know, and not into the playoffs right where you're
- 8:27Speaker 1: talking about. You know, yeah, he's see how he's limited,
- 8:29Speaker 1: didn't practice all week, and you know, maybe he can
- 8:32Speaker 1: give us, you know, fifteen fifteen, twenty, you know, snaps
- 8:35Speaker 1: or carry. I hope it doesn't come to that. And look,
- 8:37Speaker 1: I mean, he is a big, strong, physical dude, but
- 8:40Speaker 1: he has had, you know, some durability issues. And what
- 8:42Speaker 1: eighty carries already on pace for three hundred and twenty
- 8:45Speaker 1: that's just what the carries and not in the pass game.
- 8:48Speaker 1: So that's a lot of touches. Would be for sure
- 8:50Speaker 1: a career high if it keeps up at this pace.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I was just looking the rest of the running backs
- 8:55Speaker 1: twenty five combined carries for Elijah Mitchell and I threw
- 8:58Speaker 1: Kyle ust Check in there too, so like they just
- 9:01Speaker 1: they don't have a ton of other, you know, carries
- 9:04Speaker 1: to kind of pass around there. It's kind of all
- 9:07Speaker 1: going to McCaffrey. But it's look when you look at
- 9:09Speaker 1: the success rate in so many different ways, like he
- 9:12Speaker 1: is getting a first down or a touchdown on thirty
- 9:14Speaker 1: percent of his carries. Pretty efficient right there. He leads
- 9:18Speaker 1: the league in yards per carry. He's second only to
- 9:21Speaker 1: DeAndre Swift and Bijon who have thirty fewer carries. I said,
- 9:28Speaker 1: nearly leads the league in yards per carries, second only
- 9:30Speaker 1: to those two guys. The explosive runs way up there
- 9:33Speaker 1: at the top more impressibly here, and this tells you
- 9:35Speaker 1: a little bit something about how good the offensive line is,
- 9:38Speaker 1: and then how good he is. He is second in
- 9:41Speaker 1: rushing yards before contact, right so he is the second
- 9:45Speaker 1: most rushing yards before he gets touched, and then he's
- 9:47Speaker 1: first in yards after contact. So that is truly like
- 9:51Speaker 1: marrying really good offensive line, play good scheme with an
- 9:54Speaker 1: elite running back. Right there, I understand why you want
- 9:57Speaker 1: to keep feeding him the rock buck.
- 10:00Speaker 5: I just looked at the snippets we talk about his
- 10:03Speaker 5: touch He's not getting touched when he touches the ball,
- 10:06Speaker 5: Like three of those touchdowns, he didn't get touched like
- 10:08Speaker 5: it was like playing flag football. So I understand the
- 10:11Speaker 5: concern because it's early in the year and it might
- 10:14Speaker 5: be a situation where you're monitoring the carriers. Maybe in
- 10:17Speaker 5: the middle of the year, maybe you have to dial
- 10:19Speaker 5: back and scale it back, But right now it's working
- 10:21Speaker 5: so well. Man, it's hard to say, hey, guys, I
- 10:24Speaker 5: know our guy's crushing it. He's one of the more
- 10:26Speaker 5: productive players in the National Football League. Let's make sure
- 10:29Speaker 5: we kind of use him wisely. He's been so good
- 10:33Speaker 5: for this team. That's just hard. Thirteen straight games he's
- 10:36Speaker 5: touch He scored a touchdown for the Niners.
- 10:39Speaker 4: I understand it. You talk about the perfect marriage between
- 10:42Speaker 4: player and scheme.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Christian McCaffrey teaming up with Kyle Shanahan in this game
- 10:47Speaker 5: has been lights out. That's why we're seeing the numbers
- 10:50Speaker 5: that we're seeing from the fantastic All Pro playmate.
- 10:52Speaker 3: While he's got a couple of big ones coming up,
- 10:54Speaker 3: starting with the Dallas Cowboys, a Sunday nighter at home
- 10:57Speaker 3: that's going to be a huge one against a really
- 10:59Speaker 3: good Then they go on the road at Cleveland with
- 11:03Speaker 3: Miles Garrett Jim Schwartz to orchestraight in that defense. So
- 11:06Speaker 3: he's got a couple big tests coming up. Maybe if
- 11:08Speaker 3: you are going to dial back the touches, maybe you
- 11:10Speaker 3: wait for a couple weeks. Let's get to these next
- 11:13Speaker 3: two games, which are going to be very difficult opponents,
- 11:15Speaker 3: and then maybe you try and dial it back just
- 11:17Speaker 3: a little bit. On the other side of that thing, Buck,
- 11:19Speaker 3: you look at the Arizona Cardinals in that ballgame. Hey,
- 11:21Speaker 3: they're competitive. It's in the third corner. They're competitive. They've
- 11:24Speaker 3: been competitive each and every week. Is there something that
- 11:27Speaker 3: we missed that we didn't that we didn't process correctly
- 11:31Speaker 3: in the offseason. What are expectations of how terrible this
- 11:34Speaker 3: was going to be and yet how competitive this team
- 11:36Speaker 3: has been. Whatud we miss I think we might have
- 11:39Speaker 3: missed out on a few different things.
- 11:41Speaker 5: More money awesome for bringing in the right players to
- 11:44Speaker 5: kind of blend in with Jonathan Gannon's system and culture,
- 11:48Speaker 5: and then Jonathan Gannon being able to find the right
- 11:51Speaker 5: buttons to motivate his team to play ard.
- 11:53Speaker 4: There are a lot of things that you can make
- 11:54Speaker 4: up in terms of your deficiencies.
- 11:57Speaker 5: If you play or you give great effort, you have
- 11:58Speaker 5: a level of physicality to your game.
- 12:00Speaker 4: When you watch the Cardinals, they have all of those things.
- 12:03Speaker 5: And really, when I look at this roster, you have
- 12:06Speaker 5: a bunch of misfits and cast dolls that are finally
- 12:09Speaker 5: having an opportunity to kind of shine on the biggest stage.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Think about Josh Dobbs, who was kind of languishing in
- 12:15Speaker 5: Cleveland as a number three.
- 12:16Speaker 4: He has an opportunity in Arizona to be the starter.
- 12:19Speaker 5: He is taking full advantage of those reps, and so
- 12:22Speaker 5: it's just kind of I would say we talked about
- 12:24Speaker 5: the perfect marriage between Christian McCaffrey, Klee, Shnan. But you
- 12:27Speaker 5: kind of have that going on in Arizona. You have
- 12:30Speaker 5: a coach who wants guys that are hungry, guys that
- 12:33Speaker 5: are getting after it, and you have a bunch of
- 12:34Speaker 5: misfits that are playing really, really well, and even though
- 12:38Speaker 5: the record isn't what they want, it's hard to knock
- 12:40Speaker 5: the effort into the hustle because it looks great.
- 12:42Speaker 4: On tape now.
- 12:43Speaker 3: And I'm happy for Josh Dobbs because this is somebody
- 12:46Speaker 3: again he's only played playing in eight games since twenty
- 12:48Speaker 3: eighteen throughout his career, so he didn't hadn't got much opportunity.
- 12:51Speaker 3: He now he's got four starts here, he's not turning
- 12:54Speaker 3: the ball over, he's got no interceptions, He's completing over
- 12:56Speaker 3: seventy percent of his passes. So that kind of shows
- 12:59Speaker 3: you in this league, if you're going to offensively, just
- 13:02Speaker 3: don't turn the ball over, protect the football, I get
- 13:04Speaker 3: the ball out of your hand, be accurate with it.
- 13:07Speaker 3: You know, there's they're not the most dynamic team. I
- 13:09Speaker 3: like Michael Wilson that the rookie receiver has got a
- 13:12Speaker 3: chance to be a really good player for them. But hey,
- 13:14Speaker 3: let's just protect the football and on defense they play
- 13:16Speaker 3: so hard, and I give Gannon a lot of credit
- 13:18Speaker 3: for how hard they're playing on that side of the ball.
- 13:22Speaker 3: All right, let's take a break. When we come back,
- 13:24Speaker 3: we're going to jump into the rookies. The rookie Draft,
- 13:26Speaker 3: one of our favorite things we do each and every week.
- 13:28Speaker 3: We can recap last week. Spoiler alert, I didn't go
- 13:31Speaker 3: well for Rhett. We'll get to that right after this
- 13:38Speaker 3: Sunday Morning Football is back on NFL Network and bigger
- 13:41Speaker 3: than ever. Live from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, Trevor
- 13:44Speaker 3: Lawrence and the Jags take on Josh Allen and the Bills. Rise,
- 13:48Speaker 3: Shine and watch a full day of football Sunday, October
- 13:51Speaker 3: eighth at nine thirty am Eastern only on NFL Network
- 13:54Speaker 3: and streaming on NFL Plus. Looking forward to that one.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Bucky will be there so I have a chance to
- 14:01Speaker 3: recap that one when he gets back. Speaking of recapping,
- 14:03Speaker 3: looking at the rookie draft last week, we had to
- 14:06Speaker 3: change it up a little bit where we didn't have
- 14:08Speaker 3: known about the quarterback situation, so we did a running back,
- 14:11Speaker 3: We did a pass catcher at the tight end position,
- 14:13Speaker 3: as well as the receiver position. And hey lo and
- 14:15Speaker 3: behold look at that? Who won all three? With eight chan,
- 14:18Speaker 3: Pooka Nakua and Sam Laporta. That's a nine point week
- 14:21Speaker 3: for me, Bucky with three second place finishes. Well, if
- 14:24Speaker 3: there's three guys in it, I finished first and all
- 14:26Speaker 3: of them Bucky finished second.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Oait Yeah, HTT got sake.
- 14:29Speaker 2: RHTT came up with nothing. Bucky and myself.
- 14:32Speaker 3: We're tied at the top now for the season with
- 14:34Speaker 3: eighteen points. Rehtt's looking up a little bit. He's got
- 14:37Speaker 3: some ground to make up. The good news for you,
- 14:40Speaker 3: RHTT is that you are going to get the first
- 14:42Speaker 3: pick here in just a moment. But before we do that,
- 14:45Speaker 3: I'll let you crawl a little bit because you were
- 14:46Speaker 3: on the Pookin Nakua train early. Obviously you don't get
- 14:48Speaker 3: the benefit of the points there because of poor drafting,
- 14:51Speaker 3: but I'll give you credit for being on that one
- 14:53Speaker 3: a little early.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Well, look, when you have the trust of your head
- 14:57Speaker 1: coach and the trust to your quarterback, you're gonna get
- 15:00Speaker 1: set and Pokinakua, you know, while not maybe the most
- 15:04Speaker 1: elite athlete that we add in the wide receiver class,
- 15:07Speaker 1: shows you that he can get open he can catch
- 15:09Speaker 1: the ball, you can make contested catches, physical catches. He
- 15:12Speaker 1: can get inside on slant routes and be it, you know,
- 15:14Speaker 1: make himself open for Matthew Stafford. And even when he
- 15:17Speaker 1: when maybe even isn't you know the read, Stafford just
- 15:20Speaker 1: loves getting this dude the ball, especially on those inbreaking
- 15:23Speaker 1: routes in that fifteen to twenty yard range, I mean
- 15:26Speaker 1: those intermediate throws. Stafford eats on that stuff all day long.
- 15:29Speaker 1: And poka Akua, I mean like seventy five percent of
- 15:32Speaker 1: his routes feels like they are coming some sort of
- 15:34Speaker 1: inbreaking cut in that intermediate range. And he is just
- 15:38Speaker 1: so nifty at finding a way to get open in
- 15:42Speaker 1: that area. And then of course his game, his first
- 15:44Speaker 1: career touchdown is the game winner. You love that, And
- 15:48Speaker 1: it's just it's all working out right now. And I
- 15:50Speaker 1: mean we're talking about the most prolific rookie receiver in
- 15:52Speaker 1: NFL history through four games. Pretty dang good. Yeah, he
- 15:56Speaker 1: was on my team week one. You better believe it.
- 15:57Speaker 1: We were on it from the jump, on it.
- 16:00Speaker 4: From the jump.
- 16:00Speaker 5: But you don't get any carrier, We don't get any
- 16:02Speaker 5: body points for being able to point him out in
- 16:04Speaker 5: week one, we're now in week four.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Remove me on it.
- 16:08Speaker 5: This to me is it's kind of like the perfect
- 16:12Speaker 5: thing when it comes to having a sweet tooth, Like
- 16:14Speaker 5: you got your type, you know what kind of desserts
- 16:15Speaker 5: you like, and you go back to the well. And
- 16:18Speaker 5: so I go and I look at the comparison between
- 16:20Speaker 5: Cooper Cup and Pooka, and.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Size wise they're very very similar.
- 16:24Speaker 5: Speed wise they were also similar, and you look at
- 16:27Speaker 5: their careers in terms of how they got down at
- 16:30Speaker 5: BYU and Eastern Washington respectively, there are a lot of similarities.
- 16:34Speaker 5: And so when you have Cooper Cup go out, they're
- 16:36Speaker 5: able to basically put a clone in and put him
- 16:39Speaker 5: in the same spot and allow them to have kind
- 16:41Speaker 5: of the similar success. To me, the challenge isn't what's
- 16:45Speaker 5: going to happen with Poka as he's continued to do
- 16:47Speaker 5: it with Cooper Cup out. What are the Rams going
- 16:49Speaker 5: to do when Cooper Cup comes back because he's been
- 16:53Speaker 5: so productive in this role.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Do I want to remove him from this role and
- 16:58Speaker 4: put Cooper Cup there?
- 16:59Speaker 5: Or do I want to maybe think about moving Cooper
- 17:01Speaker 5: Cup around and allowing Pooka to be productive because the
- 17:05Speaker 5: offense has kind of been working with Pooker kind.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Of running over the middle.
- 17:08Speaker 5: Maybe we can do some other stuff with Cooper Cup
- 17:10Speaker 5: and find a way to get both of these guys
- 17:12Speaker 5: on the field at the same time cats on a
- 17:14Speaker 5: bunch of touchdowns.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Well, I'm glad you brought that up, because to me,
- 17:17Speaker 3: I don't think this is going to be a problem.
- 17:18Speaker 3: If you think back to you know, the teams with
- 17:21Speaker 3: Robert Woods there with Cooper Cup that we always talked
- 17:24Speaker 3: about how the fact that the changeable that that's what
- 17:27Speaker 3: make this makes this McVeigh offense role, is that these
- 17:30Speaker 3: guys can all move around, play every position. They run
- 17:32Speaker 3: so much bunch that they condense the formation down so
- 17:35Speaker 3: they're stacked, and you know, they're all going to get
- 17:37Speaker 3: a chance to work in the middle of the field
- 17:39Speaker 3: and work on crossers and really kind of operate in space.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Uh you know, which is is something that they can
- 17:44Speaker 3: all do. So you know, ratt For me, I don't
- 17:47Speaker 3: think that's going to be I don't think that's going
- 17:48Speaker 3: to be an issue.
- 17:49Speaker 2: When when Cooper Cup comes back.
- 17:51Speaker 1: No, and now you know you add Cooper back into
- 17:54Speaker 1: the mix and you've already seen we talked about a
- 17:56Speaker 1: little bit about it on the Monday Pod deet that
- 17:59Speaker 1: you know, Ard Williams is really rounding into form, as
- 18:03Speaker 1: you know, a lead back type of guy. Scored touchdowns
- 18:05Speaker 1: on their first two possessions in Indianapolis, and so like,
- 18:09Speaker 1: you know, kind of slowly but surely you're talking about
- 18:12Speaker 1: a nice little young core on offense. And then you
- 18:15Speaker 1: know you've got the big play potential with two to
- 18:16Speaker 1: two at well obviously Van Jefferson still there, so like
- 18:19Speaker 1: you're building some depth there now they can get a
- 18:21Speaker 1: little bit healthier up front on the offensive line. I mean,
- 18:24Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford is rolling this year too, so I got
- 18:27Speaker 1: no issues and no worries about him finding the open dude,
- 18:30Speaker 1: no matter who it is in that Rams offense.
- 18:33Speaker 3: All right, you got you got a goose egg last week.
- 18:35Speaker 3: You've got the first pick, so you got it. You
- 18:38Speaker 3: have to find a point score here. You have to
- 18:40Speaker 3: at least get a one or two place finish here
- 18:42Speaker 3: with this first overall pick.
- 18:44Speaker 4: Right, who are you going with?
- 18:45Speaker 1: It's c J Stroud.
- 18:46Speaker 4: C J.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Stroud, Texans, lock it up, give me the give me
- 18:49Speaker 1: the QB. He's you know, he's three hundred a game
- 18:52Speaker 1: right now? You know he's he scored, He's found a
- 18:55Speaker 1: terrific chemistry with Nico Collins. Give me CJ. Stroud get
- 18:59Speaker 1: two tough downs another three hundred yards, all right?
- 19:02Speaker 3: I like that one. Man, I could I could go
- 19:06Speaker 3: a couple different places here. Pukah's was good to me
- 19:09Speaker 3: last week. But man, going up against the Eagles, I
- 19:11Speaker 3: know the Eagles gave up thirty burger to Washington, but
- 19:14Speaker 3: I think they kind of bounce back in that one.
- 19:16Speaker 2: So I think I'm gonna man, I've got to get points.
- 19:20Speaker 3: So look, I'm gonna go with Richardson. I'm gonna take
- 19:22Speaker 3: the second quarterback. Richardson's been a point score as She's
- 19:26Speaker 3: got four rushing touchdowns already, so I feel good that
- 19:29Speaker 3: he's gonna at least get me a point for second place.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Maybe he gets me the full three points for being first.
- 19:34Speaker 3: But both quarterbacks there off the board, Buck, which gives
- 19:37Speaker 3: you some strategy. You could you can go anywhere you
- 19:40Speaker 3: want to give him back to back pace.
- 19:42Speaker 4: Yeah, it gives me a lot of strategy. I used
- 19:43Speaker 4: to watch a team when I was a kid.
- 19:45Speaker 5: I used to love when a playing comes together, because
- 19:47Speaker 5: right now the plan is really coming together.
- 19:48Speaker 4: I'm gonna take.
- 19:49Speaker 5: I'm gonna take I'm gonna take Bijon Robinson right here
- 19:53Speaker 5: at number three, and then I'm gonna follow it up
- 19:54Speaker 5: with Puka. So now I have two of the most
- 19:57Speaker 5: prolific guys in our little draft all my squall right now,
- 20:00Speaker 5: and I'll worry about having to take Bryce Young later,
- 20:02Speaker 5: but I've already got it. Like I look forward to
- 20:05Speaker 5: uh hoisting the trophy for week five because.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I interesting that you took Bijon going up against this
- 20:13Speaker 1: Texans defense coached by Demico Ryans that is absolutely playing
- 20:18Speaker 1: inspired right now and limited the Steelers to what like
- 20:21Speaker 1: zero yards. It felt like after watching that game. Okay, okay, Buck,
- 20:25Speaker 1: if that's the strategy, go for it, Bud.
- 20:27Speaker 5: I'm gonna go up pull us in personal saw Bijon
- 20:31Speaker 5: do all kinds of stuff while you were watching Toy Story.
- 20:34Speaker 5: I was watching it for real. This dude is is
- 20:36Speaker 5: amazing now. I think he's gonna get enough touches.
- 20:39Speaker 1: All right, dj what do you got?
- 20:40Speaker 4: All right?
- 20:42Speaker 5: Man?
- 20:45Speaker 3: Hmm, Look, I'm gonna go uh. I'm gonna go with
- 20:48Speaker 3: e Chan. I'm going eight Chan. I'm gonna go with
- 20:50Speaker 3: the running back from the Dolphins. Who's been who's been awesome?
- 20:53Speaker 3: And and by the way, uh rtt you're up next,
- 20:56Speaker 3: but I'll just kick it to you on this one.
- 20:58Speaker 3: This is like, if you've got a chance to watch
- 21:00Speaker 3: Chris Johnson play with an explosive vertical passing attack, like
- 21:05Speaker 3: think about CJ two K getting all those yards where
- 21:07Speaker 3: everbody was just kind of packed in there to try
- 21:09Speaker 3: and slow him down he was the offense.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Now imagine him playing with Tyreek Hill and Waddle and all.
- 21:15Speaker 3: The speed outside which is gonna scare safeties out of
- 21:18Speaker 3: there and give him that type of space.
- 21:19Speaker 2: That's literally what it looks like.
- 21:20Speaker 3: It looks like they've got Chris Johnson back there going
- 21:23Speaker 3: up against light boxes.
- 21:25Speaker 2: It's just not fair.
- 21:26Speaker 1: This is tough, guys. I mean, there's is it though.
- 21:30Speaker 1: There's just nothing left at the running back spot. Jamir Gibbs,
- 21:34Speaker 1: I look these you know, really talented dude, but it's
- 21:37Speaker 1: been a dud thus far. It's been an absolute dud,
- 21:39Speaker 1: and I can I trust it. I mean, obviously I
- 21:43Speaker 1: don't have to take the running back right now because
- 21:45Speaker 1: you guys both have your running backs. So all I'm
- 21:47Speaker 1: trying to do ear is find my best path forward.
- 21:49Speaker 1: From the receiver spot.
- 21:52Speaker 3: And we got back to back picks, buddy, So you
- 21:55Speaker 3: can do whatever you want here.
- 21:57Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll pay attention.
- 21:59Speaker 1: All right, Me up with the lock, me up with
- 22:02Speaker 1: a Flowers. I think it's gonna come together here. I
- 22:05Speaker 1: think we're gonna we're gonna start to see this thing.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Role give me say Flowers the wide out spot and whatever,
- 22:11Speaker 1: gimme Gibbs. I don't know, I don't know there's anything
- 22:18Speaker 1: else to do at this point.
- 22:19Speaker 3: I love I love I love the point the fact
- 22:22Speaker 3: that you've got your strategy session that's taking place there.
- 22:25Speaker 3: When you have back to back picks and they're the
- 22:27Speaker 3: last two picks you're gonna have in the draft. There's
- 22:29Speaker 3: absolutely zero relevance to which one of those guys you
- 22:31Speaker 3: took first, Absolutely none.
- 22:33Speaker 2: But yet Rhet has he's scrimmaging this thing, buck. Can
- 22:37Speaker 2: you imagine in a draft room? Can you imagine retting
- 22:39Speaker 2: a draft room?
- 22:39Speaker 3: Like uh all right, uh mister Lewis, gentlemen, Ager Lewis,
- 22:43Speaker 3: we're on the we're on the clock right now.
- 22:45Speaker 2: It's like, oh crap, we're on the clock. Yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 1: No, we can come to man for a four months.
- 22:50Speaker 1: If I not see the ticker. With the picks, we'd
- 22:53Speaker 1: be in good shape.
- 22:54Speaker 4: But we don't.
- 22:54Speaker 1: We don't have a ticker.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Give me a ticker, all right, I've got my quarterback
- 23:01Speaker 3: in Richardson, I've got.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, no one else is okay, no one
- 23:06Speaker 1: else is picking. Let's go. Come on.
- 23:09Speaker 3: So I've I've got I've got my receiver choice here
- 23:13Speaker 3: and I am actually I could go in a couple
- 23:15Speaker 3: different areas. I'm gonna just make sure that I like
- 23:17Speaker 3: the matchup here. One second, I just want to double
- 23:21Speaker 3: check because I want to make sure I'm making the
- 23:22Speaker 3: right decision. Yep, I'm gonna go. I'm I'm going with
- 23:25Speaker 3: Michael Wilson here. Is this the first time he's been
- 23:27Speaker 3: selected in the draft?
- 23:30Speaker 4: Right?
- 23:30Speaker 3: It is Michael Wilson out of Stanford, coming off of
- 23:33Speaker 3: a huge game last week.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Buck.
- 23:35Speaker 3: By the way, Michael Wilson and Pokin Nakua both trained
- 23:40Speaker 3: with with Hushman.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Zada in the run up to the draft.
- 23:43Speaker 3: If you're a receiver and you want to get ready
- 23:45Speaker 3: figure for the NFL, yeah, maybe go work out with
- 23:48Speaker 3: him because and oh, by the way, who else t
- 23:51Speaker 3: Higgins when he was going through the draft process, talk
- 23:53Speaker 3: about guys who were you know, underrated and who got
- 23:56Speaker 3: incredible value with where they were selected.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Who's doing a great job there? You got the last
- 24:01Speaker 4: pick bucket, Well, I mean, I don't have a choice.
- 24:03Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Bryce Young Bryce s Youngnings has to
- 24:06Speaker 5: has to find a way to get it done for
- 24:08Speaker 5: the Carolina Panthers. It has been really extremely disappointing to
- 24:12Speaker 5: see this offense and to see what Bryce shan has
- 24:14Speaker 5: had to work with. Uh, the production hasn't been there,
- 24:17Speaker 5: and I didn't think that he would set the world
- 24:18Speaker 5: on fire. But I thought, and many of us talked
- 24:21Speaker 5: about we kind of felt like this Panthers team would
- 24:24Speaker 5: be a playoff contender based on some of the pieces
- 24:27Speaker 5: that they had in place defensively and how they would
- 24:29Speaker 5: get it going. That hasn't materialized, and my guys getting
- 24:32Speaker 5: battered and beat up, and I'm beginning to worry about
- 24:35Speaker 5: I'm losing this confidence.
- 24:36Speaker 4: But this is the bouts back week.
- 24:38Speaker 5: Let's say week five, Bryce Shon finds a way to
- 24:41Speaker 5: put some points on the board.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Yes, all right, Well, hey, he's got better every game.
- 24:46Speaker 3: When you look at it, the trend line is is
- 24:48Speaker 3: improving each and every week. So hopefully this is the
- 24:50Speaker 3: maybe a breakout game there for Bryce Young. All Right,
- 24:53Speaker 3: that's gonna do it for the rookie draft. This is
- 24:55Speaker 3: a this is a bounce back week for rett I
- 24:57Speaker 3: can feel it. I like the squad that he's assembled.
- 24:59Speaker 3: I think he's got a chance to maybe score point or.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Two this week, which will be exciting.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Get him back in the mix a little bit, see
- 25:05Speaker 3: if we can make this competitive.
- 25:07Speaker 2: All Right, that's going to do it for today. On
- 25:09Speaker 2: tomorrow's show.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Looking forward to this one because as much as we
- 25:12Speaker 3: talk about the rookies on the offensive side of the ball,
- 25:14Speaker 3: we're going to shift the focus and the attention to
- 25:16Speaker 3: the defensive side of the ball on tomorrow's episode. So
- 25:20Speaker 3: encourage you guys to join us. Appreciate all the ratings
- 25:23Speaker 3: and reviews you continue to give us. We do appreciate
- 25:25Speaker 3: those tremendously. That's going to do it for us today.
- 25:28Speaker 3: We'll catch it tomorrow on Move the Sticks.
