- 0:17Speaker 2: we are coming to live. We're from London as because
- 0:22Speaker 2: we've been traveling around Europe for the last three weeks.
- 0:24Speaker 2: And if you're wondering who this third mysterious voice is,
- 0:28Speaker 2: it is the wonderful Emily Broken.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Welcome to the shop.
- 0:33Speaker 4: You've just been on a little holiday too, haven't you
- 0:35Speaker 4: have done quite the holiday?
- 0:36Speaker 1: Where'd you go? Done?
- 0:38Speaker 2: So?
- 0:38Speaker 1: I started off the summer with croat Shop, then I
- 0:41Speaker 1: went to Greece, then I did Turkey and then I
- 0:44Speaker 1: did Spain.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Sounds so shit, Yeah, bor lazy.
- 0:50Speaker 2: We've got Emily in the studio because we are at
- 0:52Speaker 2: the London Spotify Studios London London Bay Bay get the
- 0:56Speaker 2: London look.
- 0:58Speaker 3: And you're a London local.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I am so yeah a little bit.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Absolutely. If I was you, I would have an English
- 1:06Speaker 3: accent already, like.
- 1:10Speaker 1: And I'm like hello love.
- 1:11Speaker 2: But in today's episode, we want to talk about how
- 1:14Speaker 2: to like grow into yourself in your twenties.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I love yapping about that stuff.
- 1:19Speaker 2: We're all going to be like crying and best friends
- 1:21Speaker 2: by the end of the episode, maybe and talking in
- 1:24Speaker 2: English accents.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I can't wait.
- 1:25Speaker 2: But before we get into it, we love to start
- 1:27Speaker 2: with a life lesson of the week, so it can
- 1:30Speaker 2: be big or small, silly or serious, whatever you like,
- 1:33Speaker 2: doesn't have to relate to the topic. Can just be
- 1:35Speaker 2: any life lesson you've picked up this week.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Okay. I feel like a lot of the time we
- 1:41Speaker 1: are always waiting for the next thing, and we're always
- 1:44Speaker 1: like living in the future and being like I want
- 1:45Speaker 1: this mulestone, this mules stone that we forget. This is
- 1:49Speaker 1: my realization of the week that a lot of the
- 1:51Speaker 1: time we are living in what we wance like hoped for,
- 1:53Speaker 1: prayed for or manifesto. Yes, like I'm traveling so much
- 1:56Speaker 1: right now and I'm like living the dream and I've
- 1:58Speaker 1: got like a great flat, great friends, and like just
- 2:01Speaker 1: like life's ten ten and I'm already thinking, oh my god, Sydney, Australia,
- 2:06Speaker 1: like what I mean to do when I get there,
- 2:07Speaker 1: And it's like but I'm here, like be present, and yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 1: I was wanted so badly and I'm living in that
- 2:12Speaker 1: so it's like live in the present and yeah, you
- 2:14Speaker 1: can still obviously look to the future, but try and
- 2:17Speaker 1: be more present.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I appreciate where you're at. I love that.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I feel like my life lesson is kind of similar
- 2:23Speaker 2: because we're three weeks into our four week holiday now
- 2:27Speaker 2: four weeks. I know it's only a short stint, but
- 2:30Speaker 2: you know how like you get to that point and
- 2:31Speaker 2: you've been living out of your suitcase for three weeks,
- 2:34Speaker 2: You're sick of all the clothes that you brought. I'm like,
- 2:36Speaker 2: I miss like my barista at home, like we miss
- 2:39Speaker 2: our boyfriends, and you're kind of like, okay, Like I'm
- 2:42Speaker 2: kind of ready to go home. But then I was like,
- 2:46Speaker 2: but then you'll be home and that's it. Yeah, you're
- 2:48Speaker 2: just kind of like, fuck, I wish I just yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 2: And I was like sort of having that moment and
- 2:54Speaker 2: then I was like, Okay, stop, that's completely fine.
- 2:56Speaker 3: You can miss home. And it's been the best, it's
- 2:58Speaker 3: been an absolute dream.
- 3:00Speaker 1: But it was just like that thirty second vegetables home
- 3:04Speaker 1: coook meal. Yeah, I feel like.
- 3:06Speaker 4: As well, we're talking about this, and I was like,
- 3:08Speaker 4: how lucky are we to have something to be homesick for?
- 3:12Speaker 3: Yeah, Like I think that's like a really.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Good way to think about it, being like, yes it
- 3:15Speaker 4: being homesick is good, like wanting to like have those
- 3:18Speaker 4: but like that's really lucky.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Like, yeah, what's your life lesson?
- 3:21Speaker 1: My life lesson?
- 3:22Speaker 4: This one's so not deep enough, but it is a
- 3:24Speaker 4: lesson in itself. So kind of on the travel train.
- 3:28Speaker 4: But we've done like Italy and we did Greece, and
- 3:31Speaker 4: so they were like very coastal towns and I don't
- 3:32Speaker 4: normally eat seafood like back home because it's like, I
- 3:35Speaker 4: don't know, you just.
- 3:36Speaker 3: It's not really a normal thing that you like.
- 3:39Speaker 4: The most seafood eat is like salmon brocolini and potatoes,
- 3:42Speaker 4: like that's it the air prior and that's.
- 3:45Speaker 3: All you've got.
- 3:46Speaker 4: So anyway, we're there and I'm like I all the
- 3:48Speaker 4: seafood in the world. I was like, give me the flobstar.
- 3:50Speaker 4: I'm on holidays, and like the prawns and the trump
- 3:53Speaker 4: are the same thing, and the muscle. So before we came,
- 3:55Speaker 4: I was having like all these like hormonal breakouts and
- 3:58Speaker 4: went to a dermatologist fixed my skin. She was slaying.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Got here was ready to like live my seabreeze salty
- 4:05Speaker 4: sunny skin fan, I'll wear a skin tint. Okay, So
- 4:12Speaker 4: apparently seafood gives you fucking pimple?
- 4:15Speaker 1: Does it?
- 4:15Speaker 3: Oh? My?
- 4:16Speaker 1: Got so I came clear skin, and then for like
- 4:20Speaker 1: five nights in.
- 4:21Speaker 4: A row, I had like seafood, like a seafood pasta
- 4:23Speaker 4: or like prawns or whatever it was.
- 4:25Speaker 3: By the fifth day, I had so many pimples. And
- 4:29Speaker 3: then I was like, what is going on?
- 4:30Speaker 4: And then I looked it up, and seafood has like
- 4:33Speaker 4: a high amount of iodine in it, and so when
- 4:37Speaker 4: you consume more than normal, more than you normally do,
- 4:41Speaker 4: it'll break you out.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Seafood all the time.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Then they're like, yeah, like it's going down now because
- 4:51Speaker 4: I haven't been eating seafood. But I also was like,
- 4:55Speaker 4: I'm not gonna not eat what I want to on holidays.
- 4:58Speaker 3: It's just a little bit of a downfall.
- 5:00Speaker 4: All Yeah, it's like, oh, okay, Pinchy's revenge. Don't like
- 5:07Speaker 4: seafood for every single meal if you don't want to
- 5:10Speaker 4: get pimpies.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I am also not a dermatologist.
- 5:12Speaker 4: No medical advice to your own research and bing bang bombs.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Could we get into the episode. Let's do it let's go.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I feel like a lot of the chicks would recognize you,
- 5:26Speaker 2: especially from TikTok and all of your London adventures. And
- 5:31Speaker 2: you're telling your fabulous tales while you're cutting up fruit.
- 5:34Speaker 3: So so sad, it's so.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Good like the fruit.
- 5:41Speaker 2: But for anybody who isn't aware, how long have you
- 5:44Speaker 2: lived in London before?
- 5:44Speaker 4: Now?
- 5:45Speaker 1: Two years as of a month's time. So yeah, Brisbane,
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yes that's from born and bred from Brizzy. Then you
- 5:56Speaker 1: moved here two years ago.
- 5:57Speaker 2: So how do you feel that moving over sea in
- 6:00Speaker 2: your twenties has helped you grow into yourself and learn
- 6:04Speaker 2: more about yourself in your twenties?
- 6:05Speaker 1: Philly has helped in every way. Like, I genuinely think
- 6:09Speaker 1: I'm a completely different person to who I was when
- 6:12Speaker 1: I left, Like I am not really in contact with
- 6:14Speaker 1: most people, to be honest, like that I was friends
- 6:16Speaker 1: with Pride to leaving, and I think it's just because
- 6:18Speaker 1: there's not much in common. But also I think just
- 6:20Speaker 1: like my values and myself as a person has changed
- 6:23Speaker 1: so much because I think you learned or like, there's
- 6:25Speaker 1: just so many I think everyone should do even if
- 6:27Speaker 1: you aren't, like you know, the bulls or whatever, like
- 6:30Speaker 1: the money to move to another country, like another city,
- 6:32Speaker 1: just because I think, like you learn so much about yourself,
- 6:35Speaker 1: you have defend for yourself. And also I feel like
- 6:38Speaker 1: this is the one, like the biggest thing I advocate for.
- 6:40Speaker 1: When you move somewhere like another city or another country,
- 6:43Speaker 1: you no one's holding you to a standard or an identity.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So you can, like if you were once a bitch,
- 6:49Speaker 1: or you were once like really shy, or you're not
- 6:52Speaker 1: super extroverted, and then you move somewhere and no one's
- 6:54Speaker 1: holding you to that standard. You can walk into a
- 6:55Speaker 1: room or a party and like no one's thinking, oh,
- 6:58Speaker 1: she's a bit out of character tonight, bo do you
- 7:00Speaker 1: want to be? And I feel like that's so cool
- 7:02Speaker 1: because it's like you discover and create whoever you want
- 7:05Speaker 1: to be, Like you, I want to be this person,
- 7:06Speaker 1: you become them?
- 7:07Speaker 2: So yeah the wheel, Yeah exactly, be whoever you want
- 7:11Speaker 2: to be. Literally, did you ever have like an aha
- 7:13Speaker 2: moment where you were like, WHOA, I have changed so
- 7:17Speaker 2: much while you've been overseas?
- 7:19Speaker 1: Probably like a year into it, I'd say, because I
- 7:22Speaker 1: moved and I think I was very like immature and
- 7:25Speaker 1: then I just I don't know it was just just
- 7:27Speaker 1: naive about the world, and I just I was just different.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Like I don't think I liked who I was, and
- 7:32Speaker 1: I probably wasn't the best person. I think I just
- 7:35Speaker 1: project a lot, do you know what I'm saying? Like
- 7:37Speaker 1: I'm a gossip and like at work and like I
- 7:39Speaker 1: make I try and not gossip now, just like so
- 7:41Speaker 1: many like small things and just like I think I
- 7:44Speaker 1: was very, very extroverted and now I'm like I'd still
- 7:46Speaker 1: so extroverted, but I've learned that I can also be
- 7:48Speaker 1: reserved and like sit back sometimes and like I just
- 7:51Speaker 1: like every which way I've changed.
- 7:54Speaker 4: Yeah, where it's like I don't think we give ourselves
- 7:57Speaker 4: like the credit enough to see the positive changes that
- 8:00Speaker 4: we make in ourselves. Like when you are being like, oh,
- 8:02Speaker 4: do you know what, Like maybe five years ago, when
- 8:04Speaker 4: I was like young, I probably would have behaved like
- 8:06Speaker 4: this way in this situation. And like when you can
- 8:09Speaker 4: sit there and be like, do you know what? Not
- 8:10Speaker 4: everything needs like the full tank of that I have
- 8:14Speaker 4: to give.
- 8:15Speaker 1: It's just like yeah, because I think it's like all
- 8:16Speaker 1: those things where you're not being held to a standard
- 8:18Speaker 1: or expectations by someone. This may not be moving over seas,
- 8:21Speaker 1: but I did a lot of like self work and
- 8:22Speaker 1: like self reflection of the past four years and like yeah,
- 8:25Speaker 1: because like four years ago, I hated myself and I
- 8:27Speaker 1: would project that I was so insecure, and then I
- 8:29Speaker 1: think even just moving overseas as well, Like I did
- 8:31Speaker 1: so much reflecting being like writing down like manifesting and
- 8:35Speaker 1: affirming to myself I am this person, I am wise,
- 8:37Speaker 1: I am friendly, I am outgoing, Like people want to
- 8:40Speaker 1: be around me because I have blah blah blah. Do
- 8:42Speaker 1: you know what I mean?
- 8:42Speaker 3: Like, yeah, yeah, I think it sounds grange.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I think just that there's so many benefits. Everyone should
- 8:50Speaker 1: be riverseas also another country because you can create your
- 8:53Speaker 1: own identity.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Yeah, what were some of the other practices you did
- 8:56Speaker 4: for like self reflection.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Just like a lot of journaling to be honest. And
- 9:00Speaker 1: then also just like asking myself questions that you would
- 9:03Speaker 1: ask someone else, because I think a lot of the
- 9:05Speaker 1: time you might go on a date or you might
- 9:07Speaker 1: be with a friend and you always ask like oh
- 9:08Speaker 1: I love deep charts, like I hate service level conversation,
- 9:11Speaker 1: and so like I've even got like like questions on
- 9:14Speaker 1: my phone. I was asking like my best friend I
- 9:15Speaker 1: went for a walk there this morning, and it's just
- 9:17Speaker 1: like questions that you'd ask someone else, ask yourself and
- 9:19Speaker 1: like think about the reasons, and like they can be
- 9:21Speaker 1: fun things. It can be like it doesn't have to
- 9:22Speaker 1: be some deep shit where you put on meditation, can
- 9:24Speaker 1: you like depress it or fuck?
- 9:26Speaker 2: Oh?
- 9:26Speaker 1: Like you could just be like in your room and
- 9:28Speaker 1: then like list like right questions like what's something that
- 9:31Speaker 1: you love to be complimented on? And then what's something
- 9:34Speaker 1: that you don't get complimented on like internally that you
- 9:36Speaker 1: would like to and then maybe that's something that you
- 9:38Speaker 1: need to bring out more or like you know what
- 9:40Speaker 1: I mean. Like but if shadow, well, yeah, that kind
- 9:41Speaker 1: of thing do you want?
- 9:42Speaker 4: My favorite question is the one that's like what's your
- 9:45Speaker 4: favorite compliment you've ever received? Like it just makes people
- 9:50Speaker 4: really happy to then like say that about themselves.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Yeah, and I find that it's like the cutest one ever.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Agreed.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Do you have any advice?
- 9:58Speaker 4: Because you mentioned before that you don't really speak to,
- 10:00Speaker 4: you know, the people that you knew back home or
- 10:02Speaker 4: high school, which I think is like a very relatable thing.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I think people outgrow.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I'm friendly, but I say I'm like like there was
- 10:08Speaker 1: no falling out in it. But it's just like yeah,
- 10:11Speaker 1: you just like it's.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Like a parallel growth.
- 10:13Speaker 4: But how did you go about making new friends as
- 10:16Speaker 4: an adult in a new country, Because.
- 10:18Speaker 1: That's struggle, Like I won't even lie. That's the one
- 10:22Speaker 1: thing I'm so like about moving home is like finding
- 10:26Speaker 1: when I moved to Sydney, like my people again because
- 10:28Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, that's fine, thanks, awkward, no, But I
- 10:42Speaker 1: would say, it just takes time, to be honest, and
- 10:45Speaker 1: I think when I first, honestly probably took me a
- 10:47Speaker 1: year to find people that are like stuck stuck with
- 10:50Speaker 1: Like I think I've only got one friend that I
- 10:52Speaker 1: met when I first moved here and was doing my
- 10:53Speaker 1: waging job, like Cheeto, and I'm still like good friends
- 10:56Speaker 1: with her now love her. But everyone else for the
- 10:58Speaker 1: first year like would come and go, and like I
- 11:00Speaker 1: would never say, I'd have moments where felt lonely, but
- 11:03Speaker 1: like you, there's always gonna be someone you can go
- 11:06Speaker 1: and do something with, especially when you first move like
- 11:09Speaker 1: but I think I just found it was very service
- 11:10Speaker 1: level or it was like when I was drinking, I'd
- 11:12Speaker 1: just go and drink, or like they're just not people
- 11:15Speaker 1: you click with, but you're hanging out with them for
- 11:17Speaker 1: convenience or to have someone to do something with. And
- 11:19Speaker 1: I think that's what the biggest struggle was. But then eventually,
- 11:22Speaker 1: I think when you I don't know, become comfortable with
- 11:26Speaker 1: yourself and you're just I would say, you're not looking
- 11:28Speaker 1: for it as well. That sounds really crazy. Do you
- 11:30Speaker 1: know when you're like looking for a relationship or like
- 11:33Speaker 1: looking for something, that's when it doesn't come. I think
- 11:35Speaker 1: it's the same for friendships because I find like all
- 11:38Speaker 1: of the friends that are my life now, I wasn't
- 11:41Speaker 1: looking for that friendship, Like it just randomly happened or
- 11:44Speaker 1: like them in an event or like through a friend
- 11:46Speaker 1: of a friend, or like it was very organic and
- 11:48Speaker 1: I didn't have to chase it. And like, I know,
- 11:50Speaker 1: there's like apps and stuff and like Facebook groups like
- 11:53Speaker 1: girls in London and like all that stuff, and I
- 11:55Speaker 1: think that's great initially when you move in and I
- 11:56Speaker 1: wouldn't like shit on that. Like, I think that's cool
- 11:58Speaker 1: and you probably can make good friend through it. Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 1: I feel like it just takes time and you've just
- 12:03Speaker 1: also got to be comfortable on your own And I
- 12:05Speaker 1: think that's the cool thing as well. Now I'm so
- 12:06Speaker 1: happy to go and go to like a restaurant on
- 12:09Speaker 1: my own or like go to a movie on my own,
- 12:10Speaker 1: and I think that's also a profit.
- 12:12Speaker 4: That's when like friendships will blossom though, because I think
- 12:15Speaker 4: you have to get to that point that you're good
- 12:17Speaker 4: being on your own and that like agree, especially the
- 12:19Speaker 4: first year that you move somewhere as well, there's going
- 12:22Speaker 4: to be exactly what you just said, like that reflection
- 12:24Speaker 4: and that like self work that you have to do
- 12:26Speaker 4: before you can make friends.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Otherwise that's why it's like so in and out.
- 12:29Speaker 1: But I think it's so good because it's like if
- 12:31Speaker 1: I didn't have the time where I'd spend alone or
- 12:34Speaker 1: like even just like genuinely focusing myself, Like I think
- 12:37Speaker 1: that's what I did for all of last year. I
- 12:39Speaker 1: would say, like last year, I didn't date at all,
- 12:41Speaker 1: I didn't like had very like small like friendship group,
- 12:45Speaker 1: and then I just kind of focused on myself for
- 12:48Speaker 1: a whole year, like in terms of like my health
- 12:49Speaker 1: and then like socials and just like liking myself and
- 12:53Speaker 1: liking my own company. And I think, yeah, I think
- 12:55Speaker 1: everyone like if you're moving to another place, like it's
- 12:58Speaker 1: okay to go through a periodhere. You don't have a
- 13:00Speaker 1: massive like friendship group or circles.
- 13:02Speaker 4: And like, but I think it's like the best time
- 13:06Speaker 4: ever hanging out with yourself.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Well you learned to like your own popanie, because I
- 13:09Speaker 1: don't think enough people do.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Oh my god, No, what about dating? What was dating?
- 13:14Speaker 2: Moving?
- 13:16Speaker 1: To be fair, this year, the dating mate has got
- 13:18Speaker 1: a lot better. I've been in a couple of dates recently.
- 13:22Speaker 1: But last year it was shit, Like I think I
- 13:24Speaker 1: moved to London and I fucking idiot. Get this. I
- 13:28Speaker 1: used to like seen in Braslings before I moved. That's
- 13:30Speaker 1: how I saved art. We just worked two jobs, like
- 13:32Speaker 1: fifty hours whatever. And when I was at Brasnis, I
- 13:35Speaker 1: was like, I'm going to get all this laundry because
- 13:37Speaker 1: I'm going to be dating and having so much sex.
- 13:39Speaker 1: When I moved to London, I went a whole year celibate,
- 13:41Speaker 1: Like a whole fucking year. Yeah last year I had
- 13:45Speaker 1: actually know I had sex months, but that was from
- 13:48Speaker 1: this is so TIMI from like November till August, nothing
- 13:52Speaker 1: like nothing like she said self work.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Yeah, when you said self reflection, you're like self reflection
- 14:00Speaker 4: it because you just weren't meeting anything like.
- 14:03Speaker 1: You connected with my type as well. Yeah, so like
- 14:07Speaker 1: I would say, I'm not labeled now, so I I
- 14:10Speaker 1: do whatever. But I think for I was only open
- 14:13Speaker 1: to dating women at one point, hence why I leveled
- 14:15Speaker 1: myself lesbian for the motherfuckers that are in my comments,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and I ever like, you were never a lesbian. It's like, well,
- 14:18Speaker 1: at one point in time, I would look at a
- 14:20Speaker 1: man and be like disgusting. Yeah, like, yes, I was
- 14:23Speaker 1: a lesbian, like sorry, but I had no interest in men.
- 14:27Speaker 1: That's what a lesbian is. So that's what I was
- 14:29Speaker 1: when I first moved to London. And I think my
- 14:32Speaker 1: type i've realized is very like I think I like
- 14:35Speaker 1: a chilled like linen set wearing long beachy hair. I
- 14:39Speaker 1: heard it was a good gay scene, and I think
- 14:41Speaker 1: it is a good gay sing for gay men because
- 14:43Speaker 1: I have a lot of gay male friends and they
- 14:46Speaker 1: think the gay scene is great, and I think it
- 14:47Speaker 1: is for them, But I think for lesbian women or
- 14:50Speaker 1: like you know, like LGBT women, it's not the best scene.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I just think my luck last year was just not it.
- 14:57Speaker 1: But then I think as well, I also wasn't that
- 14:59Speaker 1: far on it, Like I think I was for the
- 15:01Speaker 1: first two months from September October November December, so like
- 15:05Speaker 1: a year and a half ago I was, and then
- 15:07Speaker 1: January to December I was just kind of like fuck things,
- 15:09Speaker 1: like no, But then this year we've just been dabbling.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I went on a few dates at the start of
- 15:14Speaker 1: the year with men. Actually, we'll say, if you're straight,
- 15:16Speaker 1: you probably will like the dating scene here because when
- 15:18Speaker 1: I went on the dates with the men, that was
- 15:19Speaker 1: so much easier, like it was easier to find fit men.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I feel like they just straight to it, like they
- 15:25Speaker 1: ask you out straight.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Away, like Australian men.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's actually yeah, okay. The dating scene is
- 15:31Speaker 1: good for like, you know, people who are relations but
- 15:35Speaker 1: then the dates they just bit like dead. You know
- 15:38Speaker 1: when you go on a date and you're like, did
- 15:40Speaker 1: I have fun? Because I'm fun? But yeah that was
- 15:43Speaker 1: every date I was like and every date I went on,
- 15:46Speaker 1: not to big myself up, but I'm gonna they were
- 15:48Speaker 1: all like, oh wow, like you're so much fun, like
- 15:50Speaker 1: that was such a great dad When you see me,
- 15:51Speaker 1: I was like, really, like what the fuck You're.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Having a good time?
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it was well they were because they were like
- 15:58Speaker 1: laughing my jokes and yeah, all that was, you know,
- 16:00Speaker 1: in fine form. But I was just like, this is
- 16:03Speaker 1: a one man show. Here was like we needed a
- 16:07Speaker 1: two way street.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Yeah, he's just a mat and green.
- 16:12Speaker 4: You haven't put a deposit down before they can take
- 16:15Speaker 4: you on a day.
- 16:16Speaker 3: What's been like the best day you've ever been.
- 16:17Speaker 1: On in London?
- 16:21Speaker 4: Like Slim Pickens, why he said that was so sad,
- 16:25Speaker 4: Slim Pickens, This is probably this one I went on
- 16:28Speaker 4: with this guy.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Actually he looked like the Wish version of Jacob, Like
- 16:33Speaker 1: he was fit, like.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Even he's going to be better than a lot more.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Version of that was that.
- 16:46Speaker 2: He was.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he was very very good looking.
- 16:48Speaker 4: This guy.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Was he really tall?
- 16:50Speaker 1: Yeah, he was like he was probably like the fittest
- 16:52Speaker 1: guy like I've ever got with, Like he was fucking
- 16:55Speaker 1: hot hot. But yeah, I don't know, I think that's
- 16:58Speaker 1: just really good like sexual chemistry there. And he was
- 17:00Speaker 1: like very gentleman, which I liked. Yeah, yeah, nice.
- 17:03Speaker 4: So you mentioned you've been on a bit of a
- 17:05Speaker 4: journey you're now unlabeled. What was that like because that
- 17:08Speaker 4: was like February right like earlier this year. That you
- 17:11Speaker 4: kind of opened yourself up a little bit, right, But
- 17:14Speaker 4: that was like that would have been a lot to
- 17:17Speaker 4: go through, like in your head.
- 17:20Speaker 1: That was It was honestly such a head fuck because
- 17:22Speaker 1: I think up until like I think it was July
- 17:25Speaker 1: August when I slept with security Gun i ha a
- 17:28Speaker 1: gay club love that he. Until I slept with him,
- 17:31Speaker 1: I genuinely didn't I didn't have interests like yeah, it's
- 17:34Speaker 1: like no, like just wouldn't do it for me. And
- 17:37Speaker 1: then once I sat with him, I was a bit
- 17:38Speaker 1: like in my head, oh okay, like I was kind
- 17:41Speaker 1: of just a bit more open to it then obviously
- 17:42Speaker 1: I was in my head, I was like trying to
- 17:43Speaker 1: close those like you know when you're gay, when you're
- 17:46Speaker 1: figuring out you're gay and you're trying to squash those thoughts.
- 17:48Speaker 1: It was literally like that in reverse, and I was
- 17:49Speaker 1: like I was like, yeah, I was like that would
- 17:52Speaker 1: have been really hard for like, no, you're gay, this is.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Literally no if I have rooms, okay.
- 18:01Speaker 1: And I think it was harder as well because it's
- 18:03Speaker 1: like I'd made my identity on TikTok as being a
- 18:05Speaker 1: gay Australian in London. Like that was like my like label,
- 18:09Speaker 1: like my identity, and I think I struggled with that
- 18:12Speaker 1: because I was like, fuck, Like I had moments in
- 18:15Speaker 1: my head like end of last year, I was like,
- 18:16Speaker 1: am I just if I ever meet a guy, it's
- 18:17Speaker 1: gonna have to be like, no, I'm not interested even
- 18:19Speaker 1: if I am, because I don't want people to then
- 18:21Speaker 1: think that I was ever lying. And then I was like,
- 18:24Speaker 1: went over Christmas and I was talking to my mom
- 18:26Speaker 1: about kind of a bit of a breakdown at a
- 18:27Speaker 1: menty B and I was like, I think I am
- 18:30Speaker 1: interested in possibly dating a man again, Like I think
- 18:32Speaker 1: I'm very much ratio and it still is more so
- 18:35Speaker 1: for women. Yeah, I think long long term, I do
- 18:37Speaker 1: see myself with a girl, but I mean never say never,
- 18:40Speaker 1: but I do think for the right guy, I could
- 18:42Speaker 1: have interest and feelings. And also like I am sexually
- 18:45Speaker 1: attracted to some men plympic ins, but some men. And
- 18:49Speaker 1: then I was like, Okay, maybe I don't ever speak
- 18:53Speaker 1: about it online until I end up dating a man,
- 18:55Speaker 1: if that ever happens, and if it doesn't, like whatever.
- 18:57Speaker 1: But then I was also like no, because I don't
- 19:00Speaker 1: want to ride myself off by like if maybe a
- 19:03Speaker 1: friend of a friend thought I'd be a good match
- 19:04Speaker 1: to their friend.
- 19:05Speaker 3: They would never set me up because I can't just
- 19:06Speaker 3: like not be who you are.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Yeah, and I was like, fuck it, So I made
- 19:10Speaker 1: a video on it, and then I've got a lot
- 19:13Speaker 1: of nice gms to be fair people being like that's
- 19:15Speaker 1: really helped me, Like I feel the same or blah blah.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I'm in the same situation. Got a lot of shit
- 19:19Speaker 1: as well for it.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Like, I think it's actually really brave that you were
- 19:23Speaker 4: you know, you did come out, which sounds yeah, you
- 19:27Speaker 4: would though, because like that is really nerve wracking. Like
- 19:31Speaker 4: you said, you built, you know, a brand identity surrounding
- 19:34Speaker 4: one thing.
- 19:35Speaker 3: But I really.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Think it's so cool when people change their mind and
- 19:40Speaker 4: learn and grow and like evolutionize their own lives, because
- 19:43Speaker 4: otherwise it's exactly the same, yeah and boring.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Agreed, And I just yeah, I think I just think
- 19:49Speaker 1: if you don't need a label, like if you want
- 19:51Speaker 1: to put a label on it, sure, But then I
- 19:52Speaker 1: have like two friends as well who would say they say,
- 19:55Speaker 1: technically I'm a lesbian, but also like, and this probably
- 19:58Speaker 1: isn't helping the whole represent Like that's bad because you're
- 20:01Speaker 1: saying like you give men the opportunity to think that
- 20:03Speaker 1: they can turn a lesbian. It's like, well, if a
- 20:05Speaker 1: man internal lesbian, maybe they weren't ever a lesbian or
- 20:08Speaker 1: maybe they were at some point, but like that shit happens,
- 20:11Speaker 1: Like that's life. Like fucking no, I don't know. I
- 20:13Speaker 1: just think I don't think it's pressure on labels.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not like like you're one hundred percent lesbian,
- 20:20Speaker 4: and like people try to math it out a little
- 20:22Speaker 4: bit and I'm like, and also just how you feel.
- 20:24Speaker 2: No one person can turn someone like you have to
- 20:29Speaker 2: willingly and have those emotions. Yeah, to explore that path yourself,
- 20:33Speaker 2: Like it takes two people or whatever the relationship.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Is for that to happen.
- 20:38Speaker 4: And like that's why it's a spectrum. Like sexuality is
- 20:41Speaker 4: such a spectrum.
- 20:42Speaker 3: It's so fluid.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Do you have any tips for anyone listening who is,
- 20:47Speaker 4: you know, questioning, are a little bit confused with their sexuality.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Don't put pressure on it. I think also like just
- 20:53Speaker 1: go on experiment to be honest, and also don't feel
- 20:56Speaker 1: pressure to put a label on it. Like if you
- 20:57Speaker 1: just want to go unlabeled, say that, Like I think
- 20:59Speaker 1: I could probably say I'm bye. But that's I don't
- 21:02Speaker 1: know why it just doesn't I do. I don't like that.
- 21:04Speaker 4: I don't know why I hate the label of it
- 21:08Speaker 4: because I just think as well, like I was saying,
- 21:10Speaker 4: people like mathematic hit don't be the ratio?
- 21:14Speaker 1: Do you like more?
- 21:16Speaker 3: And I'm like, I just like who I like.
- 21:18Speaker 4: I want to give them a smooch. I want to
- 21:19Speaker 4: give them a smooch, Like that's the vibe here. Yeah, yeah,
- 21:23Speaker 4: And I'm like there's men who I find attractive and
- 21:26Speaker 4: men who I find repulsive and vice versa, like just
- 21:29Speaker 4: what it is.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I'd also add, though, don't feel pressure to like make
- 21:35Speaker 1: it a big thing, Like I think there's so much
- 21:37Speaker 1: pressure and I felt like when I was younger, like fuck,
- 21:40Speaker 1: if I come out, it's going to be this big
- 21:41Speaker 1: thing and I got to make a big deal or
- 21:42Speaker 1: even if I don't want to. But you can, like
- 21:45Speaker 1: if you are like by like asexual whatever it is,
- 21:47Speaker 1: like non binary, you can just like be I don't
- 21:49Speaker 1: have to tell you one by one casually combo, just
- 21:52Speaker 1: drop it. If you don't make it a big deal,
- 21:54Speaker 1: it doesn't have to be if you want to make
- 21:55Speaker 1: it a big deal, like go on, go off, as
- 21:56Speaker 1: you should, but if you don't want to, like, that's
- 21:58Speaker 1: so fine.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Switching gears here a little. Okay, so you're moving back
- 22:02Speaker 2: to Australia. What influenced that decision? Was that always the plan?
- 22:07Speaker 1: No, it was not always the plan. So I was
- 22:09Speaker 1: gonna do a year, wasn't I was gonna do one
- 22:11Speaker 1: year when I first meew too, because I was like, oh,
- 22:12Speaker 1: this is actually awful, and I was going to do
- 22:14Speaker 1: yacht work. But then social media took off and I
- 22:16Speaker 1: was like, oh, okay, it's not that bad. And then
- 22:19Speaker 1: I probably, like when I sat with the manager, was like, okay,
- 22:22Speaker 1: I can do three years because that's how long I
- 22:23Speaker 1: can stay with the visa. I'm on, like I can extend.
- 22:25Speaker 1: So I've done two years. That's my visa up, but
- 22:27Speaker 1: I can pay to extend it. But yeah, then I
- 22:29Speaker 1: was like, okay, I'll stay three years because I'm like
- 22:31Speaker 1: earning like a nice amount of money and like I'm
- 22:33Speaker 1: trying to progress and like do lex something with a
- 22:35Speaker 1: career and like that kind of thing. And then I
- 22:38Speaker 1: went back home in December over Christmas for six weeks,
- 22:42Speaker 1: and I kept extending. I seemed to change my flights
- 22:44Speaker 1: twice and I was like, I missed the sun, I
- 22:47Speaker 1: miss home, I miss feeling safe. And then I got
- 22:51Speaker 1: back to London. My friend asked me one day we're
- 22:53Speaker 1: at coffee and she goes, you actually want to stay
- 22:55Speaker 1: because you keep telling me on to do listens to
- 22:57Speaker 1: extend your visa and you've put it off for months now,
- 22:59Speaker 1: And I was like, actually, don't eat, like I deeped it.
- 23:01Speaker 1: And I think I needed someone to ask me that
- 23:03Speaker 1: to realize I don't love London that much. Like I
- 23:05Speaker 1: love my life here. I do love my life. I
- 23:07Speaker 1: love my friends, I love my hairdresser. I love like.
- 23:14Speaker 2: The culture, history, the food, my hairdress.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I like my like my day to day, like my job.
- 23:25Speaker 1: But like I just like my life here. But I
- 23:27Speaker 1: don't like London, like I don't actually like the city itself,
- 23:30Speaker 1: like I just like my life. And so I was
- 23:32Speaker 1: like when I told everyone there, like you're an idiot,
- 23:35Speaker 1: Like why are you going home? With like what you're
- 23:36Speaker 1: doing now? Like you living it good? Like why would
- 23:39Speaker 1: you not stay? And it's like slip, do what I
- 23:41Speaker 1: want to do.
- 23:43Speaker 4: What's like the most overrated thing about London? We'll do
- 23:46Speaker 4: overrated and underrated, overrated.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I feel like I think unless you're like on a
- 23:54Speaker 1: really good wage and you are living in a really
- 23:58Speaker 1: nice area, it's not that great like to visit. Sure,
- 24:01Speaker 1: Like I feel like I've visited for a week. You
- 24:03Speaker 1: guys might not mind it, but I what do I
- 24:06Speaker 1: like about it? I like her closest the rest of
- 24:08Speaker 1: yourop but like that's not even London, Like that's just
- 24:10Speaker 1: because I can travel somewhere else, but I would.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Like I can get away.
- 24:15Speaker 1: But I will say, like I do respect the city
- 24:17Speaker 1: because it's given me so much, and like it's helped
- 24:19Speaker 1: me so much, and like, without it be fucked. But
- 24:22Speaker 1: then was it underrated? Yeah, oh, I'll say they have
- 24:26Speaker 1: really good cafes. That's but I don't even know if
- 24:28Speaker 1: that's underrated.
- 24:30Speaker 4: Doubt five musical It was really funny.
- 24:35Speaker 2: But I actually do think that the cafe culture is underrated, right,
- 24:38Speaker 2: because so many people were saying, like, oh, the coffee
- 24:41Speaker 2: is so shit in Europe and also in London, and
- 24:44Speaker 2: I was like, fuck, because I need cafe to survive.
- 24:48Speaker 2: And since we've got here, I'm like, this is the
- 24:50Speaker 2: best coffee we've had the whole trip.
- 24:52Speaker 1: It's not bad, it's good too, Agreed. I think yeah,
- 24:56Speaker 1: I could say the food and the drinks.
- 24:58Speaker 4: I think we're also spoiled because like Australia is so
- 25:01Speaker 4: amazing and we are so we have such incredible you know,
- 25:06Speaker 4: food and people and you know, if you'l say of
- 25:09Speaker 4: cultures and such, like, it's a lot safer than a
- 25:12Speaker 4: lot of other places that like, we are probably spoiled
- 25:15Speaker 4: for choice. Like we're talking this morning about like if
- 25:17Speaker 4: we would ever move to another city, and I was
- 25:19Speaker 4: like when I was younger, probably, but now I'm just
- 25:21Speaker 4: like I do course.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Literally.
- 25:28Speaker 4: We've also had a really serious question. That's how I
- 25:32Speaker 4: wanted to ask. Do you want to say no, it's
- 25:36Speaker 4: really serious. It's definitely not really serious when you say that.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Trigger warning every okay, serious question.
- 25:44Speaker 2: What is your top five ranking of the most satisfying
- 25:48Speaker 2: fruits to cut?
- 25:49Speaker 1: Oh? I like that question serious. I'd say pineapple and
- 25:54Speaker 1: one really I think it's like, you know, no, when
- 26:01Speaker 1: you carve it right like it's nice. Yeah, yeah, when
- 26:05Speaker 1: it's just right over, I'd say so pineapple. Then I'd
- 26:10Speaker 1: say rock melon next. I think like kind of cving
- 26:15Speaker 1: that it's really satisfying. Scoop in the goop.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Out Scoop in theopos, and.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Then probably watermelon, you know, classic but a bit boring, just.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Kind of melon gets everywhere, the juice everywhere.
- 26:32Speaker 1: It's just a bit boring. It's just like same action.
- 26:35Speaker 1: And then I don't really one of the fruit, like
- 26:37Speaker 1: banana that's fun to peel, but like that's not cut that,
- 26:39Speaker 1: it's just opening it. And then what are the fruits
- 26:42Speaker 1: are there? To be honest that I eat? No, I
- 26:44Speaker 1: do a lot of veggies.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Well, I'm really glad that we got that sorted and confirmed,
- 26:51Speaker 2: and then we're gonna get toss in just like another
- 26:53Speaker 2: question that's not as important, but what's your biggest life
- 26:56Speaker 2: lessons so far?
- 26:57Speaker 1: I would say this is cringe, but it's true. I
- 27:00Speaker 1: feel like you can do so so cringe anything you
- 27:05Speaker 1: put your mind to, and the any person telling you
- 27:07Speaker 1: knows yourself. Like if you want to do something, you
- 27:10Speaker 1: so can, Like don't live to the expectations for the people.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Like if you don't want to go to UNI, don't
- 27:14Speaker 1: fucking go to Unie. Like if you want to go travel,
- 27:17Speaker 1: go travel, Like if there's a will, there's a way,
- 27:19Speaker 1: Like yes, there might be limitations, there might be set
- 27:21Speaker 1: backs and people telling you no or yourself telling you no.
- 27:24Speaker 1: But like anything you I liked wholehearted. Do this anything
- 27:28Speaker 1: you really really want life you can get if you yes,
- 27:31Speaker 1: it might for some take a year for someone, might
- 27:33Speaker 1: take ten if you have kids, or like whatever your
- 27:36Speaker 1: circumstances are. But I think if there's a will, there's
- 27:38Speaker 1: a way, And like the only person telling yourself no
- 27:41Speaker 1: is you so yeah, I don't know.
- 27:43Speaker 3: I love that.
- 27:43Speaker 2: I feel like that's been the theme of the entire episode,
- 27:47Speaker 2: which is beautiful. Perhaps a nice little bo on the
- 27:50Speaker 2: episode that thank you so much for coming in.
- 27:53Speaker 3: It has been an absolute pleasure.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Thanks for having me.
- 27:56Speaker 2: For any of the chicks who don't follow you already,
- 27:58Speaker 2: where can they find you?
- 27:59Speaker 1: That's really rude. First of all, a right, what are
- 28:06Speaker 1: you doing? Just on TikTok Instagram, just Emily Brogan Emily
- 28:11Speaker 1: Brogan from brisbegan.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Well rap, Thanks guys, thank you so much for coming in,
- 28:20Speaker 2: and thanks to your chicks for having us in your
- 28:22Speaker 2: ear holes. We love to be here. And thank you
- 28:25Speaker 2: to Spotify London Baby by Happiness, and also to m
- 28:29Speaker 2: I k Made for making today's episode happened by check
- 28:33Speaker 2: byeos
