Speaker 3: plus a new circuit judge in Kanawha County, Rich Lindsay,
• 2:18
Speaker 3: he's going to join us a little bit later.

Speaker 3: nine three five five zero zero eight. Let's go to
• 2:30
Speaker 3: the newsroom to start us off, though, Jeff good Morning.
• 2:33
Speaker 3: Testimony continued yesterday in the trial here in Kanawha County.
• 2:36
Speaker 4: Yeah, So Genie K.
• 2:37
Speaker 5: White Feathers back on the stand this morning, still getting
• 2:40
Speaker 5: questions from her attorney, Mark Plantz, and she, of course
• 2:45
Speaker 5: and her husband are charged in connecting with this child
• 2:48
Speaker 5: abuse trafficking case allegedly mistreating their adopted kids, African American
• 2:55
Speaker 5: kids who they adopted and lived with in several states.
• 3:00
Speaker 5: Three of the kids testified during the state's presentation of
• 3:03
Speaker 5: its case talking about how they were treated, and the
• 3:08
Speaker 5: police got onto this back in October twenty twenty three
• 3:12
Speaker 5: when they found two kids in a shed to teenage
• 3:15
Speaker 5: kids in a shed. So Jennie Whitefeather, one of the charges,
• 3:19
Speaker 5: took the stand yesterday in her own defense and answering
• 3:22
Speaker 5: a series of questions from Mark Plants that says she
• 3:26
Speaker 5: never locked the kids in a shed. They had a
• 3:28
Speaker 5: key to get out. She never locked the kids in
• 3:30
Speaker 5: the schoolroom. So she denied basically all the charges. Then
• 3:34
Speaker 5: she went into the history about how they came to
• 3:38
Speaker 5: link up with these children, how they came to adopt them,
• 3:41
Speaker 5: the initial call she got about a younger sibling who
• 3:44
Speaker 5: had been born, and then how they came to be
• 3:50
Speaker 5: able to adopt all of those children. So she'll be
• 3:53
Speaker 5: back on the witness stand today answering again questions from
• 3:57
Speaker 5: her attorney, and then the prosecution we'll get a chance
• 4:00
Speaker 5: to question her, and that will likely come later today,
• 4:03
Speaker 5: maybe after the lunch breaker before for cross examination, and
• 4:07
Speaker 5: then there'll be several more witnesses for the defense's case,
• 4:10
Speaker 5: and at some point, probably still a couple of days,
• 4:13
Speaker 5: the jury will get this case.
• 4:15
Speaker 3: Okay. We'll be listening and following online and we've got
• 4:18
Speaker 3: reporters in the courtroom. Jeff I appreciate you being here.
• 4:21

• 4:45
Speaker 3: later on in the show, We're going to talk to
• 4:47
Speaker 3: the new circuit judge here in Kanawha County. Rich Lindsay
• 4:49
Speaker 3: will be stopping by the studio. Plus, there's a lot
• 4:51
Speaker 3: of text from the show yesterday that I didn't get to.
• 4:54
Speaker 3: I'm gonna try to get to those a little bit
• 4:56
Speaker 3: later on as well. Let me bring in now Rob
• 4:57
Speaker 3: Reel from a sister station ninety six to one K
• 5:00
Speaker 3: talk about tomorrow second annual WVRC Media Charleston Sock Drop
• 5:04
Speaker 3: for Union mission. It's on our lot starting at seven
• 5:07
Speaker 3: tomorrow morning, lasting until six tomorrow evening eleven eleven Virginia
• 5:10
Speaker 3: Street East here in Charleston, sponsored by Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration.
• 5:14
Speaker 6: We're ready to go, rob We're as ready as we get.
• 5:18
Speaker 6: At least mother nature is going to cooperate a little bit.
• 5:20
Speaker 6: We'll warm up a little bit some tomorrow, although it's
• 5:24
Speaker 6: going to be a cold start twelve overnight. So out
• 5:26
Speaker 6: on that elliptical lot here at eleven eleven Virginia Street East.
• 5:31
Speaker 6: If you are if you are not a GPS plug
• 5:33
Speaker 6: or inner, you're not particularly familiar with downtown Charleston, we're
• 5:37
Speaker 6: really easy to find.
• 5:38
Speaker 3: If you're coming in from the west.
• 5:40
Speaker 6: Just take that Virginia Street exit off of sixty four
• 5:44
Speaker 6: and be looking for us on the right after you
• 5:46
Speaker 6: pass the south Side Bridge. If you're coming from maybe
• 5:48
Speaker 6: the northeast or the southeast, and the Leon Sullivan exit will.
• 5:52
Speaker 3: Take care of you. Take it right to Virginia Street.
• 5:54
Speaker 3: You'll take a left. That's the only way you can
• 5:55
Speaker 3: turn legally. It is a one way street.
• 5:58
Speaker 6: Is Virginia Well, not a week goes by in downtown
• 6:02
Speaker 6: Charleston that I don't see someone going the wrong way
• 6:04
Speaker 6: on a one way street. Having said that, you know,
• 6:07
Speaker 6: turn the turn left on Virginia street, or right on
• 6:10
Speaker 6: your right you'll see all the big vehicles. I don't
• 6:12
Speaker 6: think we'll have the giant inflatable turkey out this time. Now,
• 6:15
Speaker 6: the inflatable turkey because of the temperatures are smaller than
• 6:19
Speaker 6: it used to be. Well, you have significant shrinkage in
• 6:22
Speaker 6: this type of weather. We're again having issues in our
• 6:28
Speaker 6: centuries old building with the heating and cooling the duct
• 6:32
Speaker 6: work here in the studio portion. So I am again
• 6:35
Speaker 6: freezing my feet off and just thinking about that while
• 6:38
Speaker 6: I'm doing work in a knife safe, comfortable otherwise studio.
• 6:43
Speaker 6: I would not want to be somebody who is in
• 6:45
Speaker 6: need of socks in this kind of weather.
• 6:49
Speaker 3: So that's the driving force for this.
• 6:52
Speaker 6: There are big policy economic things that need to happen,
• 6:55
Speaker 6: and the people who handle that can handle that under
• 6:58
Speaker 6: that big golden dome about a mile down the street.
• 7:01
Speaker 6: That's that's not what we're about tomorrow. We are about
• 7:04
Speaker 6: just grassroots, ground level literally with socks helping our friends
• 7:08
Speaker 6: and neighbors. And you can get the socks at a
• 7:10
Speaker 6: variety of locations. I mean, choose your favorite department store,
• 7:14
Speaker 6: dollar store or whatever. They're not very expensive. And again,
• 7:17
Speaker 6: and I heard your interview that you did with the
• 7:19
Speaker 6: Weekly in coup On Hotline yesterday.
• 7:21
Speaker 3: This story. Yes, I had a little fun about at
• 7:23
  Speaker 3: my expense there, that's I don't think it. Well, I
• 7:25
Speaker 3: don't think it was at your expense now. No, the
• 7:26
Speaker 3: story is and I've told the story the last time.
• 7:28
Speaker 3: But one of the times you were on the show
• 7:30
Speaker 3: is is you know people that know me know I
• 7:32
Speaker 3: and you know two things about me. Number one, well,
• 7:35
Speaker 3: number well, there's only one, and that I am the
• 7:37
Speaker 3: biggest Dallas Cowboy fan in the world, have been since
• 7:40
Speaker 3: I was seven years old. My sister in law, who
• 7:42
Speaker 3: I loved dearly, for some reason, thought I would enjoy
• 7:45
Speaker 3: a pair of Carolina Panthers socks. So for Christmas she
• 7:50
Speaker 3: mailed me a pair of Carolina Panthers socks. That was
• 7:54
Speaker 3: the first donation to the second and wv RC media
• 7:59
Speaker 3: sock was the Carolina Panther socks. But you can get
• 8:03
Speaker 3: packs of socks. I mean all the dollar stores have them.
• 8:05
Speaker 3: They're not that expensive. And somebody had thrown out here
• 8:07
Speaker 3: once before that the folks at eight is the outlet
• 8:10
Speaker 3: good advertiser of ours. I think that they also had
• 8:13
Speaker 3: some that were affordably priced. There you're you know, there
• 8:16
Speaker 3: were some heated ones in there. If you pick the
• 8:18
Speaker 3: right place, you can get like a dozen socks for
• 8:19
Speaker 3: ten bucks. And we don't get if you can bring
• 8:22
Speaker 3: us an entire bag full, or if you can bring
• 8:25
Speaker 3: us one. Yeah, and they have to be new.
• 8:28
  Speaker 7: Uh.
• 8:28
Speaker 3: And that's a that's a health department thing. You explain that.
• 8:30
Speaker 3: I heard you talking about that.
• 8:32
Speaker 6: If you, as an individual donate socks to uh, to
• 8:37
Speaker 6: a shelter, to a place like that, you can you
• 8:39
Speaker 6: can do used things. But because we are a third
• 8:43
Speaker 6: party involved in this, this is a third party situation.
• 8:46
Speaker 6: Health department work requires new socks.
• 8:48
Speaker 3: That's just the way it is. We don't do our
• 8:50
Speaker 3: own laundry here, we can't do yours.
• 8:52
Speaker 6: And you know, rather than rather than shake my fist
• 8:55
Speaker 6: and shout at the sky for it snowing, I'm just
• 8:57
Speaker 6: grabbing a shovel, is all I'm doing. So I'm not
• 8:59
Speaker 6: gonna I'm not going to fight the new socks thing.
• 9:01
Speaker 6: That's just what I keep encouraging folks to do. And yeah,
• 9:05
Speaker 6: you'd be a may Some of the places you can
• 9:06
Speaker 6: go you can for ten bucks. So really the price
• 9:10
Speaker 6: of one of the big or two of the smaller
• 9:13
Speaker 6: of the high falutin frough through sweet coffee slash milkshake
• 9:17
Speaker 6: sort of drinks. If you can forego that for a day,
• 9:20
Speaker 6: you'd be helping out with a dozen pairs of socks.
• 9:23
Speaker 6: So I'm just throw a little math out there and
• 9:25
Speaker 6: we make it really easy for.
• 9:27
Speaker 3: You because we'll be out on the lot seven am
• 9:29
Speaker 3: till six pm to mar And this is something that
• 9:31
Speaker 3: all of our stations are involved in, so you're going
• 9:33
Speaker 3: to see, of course, KWS, this is kind of your baby.
• 9:35
Speaker 3: But Mountain will be there, V one hundred, Steve Jenny
• 9:38
Speaker 3: Logan will be there. Those of us that are out
• 9:40
Speaker 3: here on CHS will be there, The Beat will be there,
• 9:44
Speaker 3: all of the stations that are in our building, Kaz,
• 9:46
Speaker 3: We're all going to be out there at one point
• 9:48
Speaker 3: or another. We'll bring in the sales weasels make them
• 9:50
Speaker 3: go out there for a little while too.
• 9:52
Speaker 6: So one of the things I love about this company
• 9:54
Speaker 6: and I love about West Virginia is the way we
• 9:56
Speaker 6: help our friends and neighbors, the way we pull together.
• 9:58
Speaker 6: It's one of the reasons I wanted to come back
• 10:00
Speaker 6: two years ago, and it's one of the reasons I
• 10:02
Speaker 6: am grateful to be in the position I'm in with
• 10:04
Speaker 6: a big mouth and a big microphone, just to help folks.
• 10:07
Speaker 6: And tomorrow we'll spend a little bit of time on
• 10:10
Speaker 6: the show talking about tomorrow bring in some other folks,
• 10:12
  Speaker 6: because I don't know, I don't know exactly what the
• 10:14
Speaker 6: schedule is going to look like out there, but throughout
• 10:16
Speaker 6: the day there will be someone out there. So on
• 10:19
Speaker 6: your lunch break tomorrow you can literally just pull into
• 10:21
Speaker 6: the lot that's not oval.
• 10:23
Speaker 3: You tell me that you can pull into the lot
• 10:27
Speaker 3: it's and we'll be out there and you just drive in,
• 10:30
Speaker 3: you hand them to us and be on your merry way.
• 10:33
Speaker 3: Don't even have to get out of your nice warmth.
• 10:35
Speaker 3: All right, here's a text that says the heated socks
• 10:37
Speaker 3: that a to z are on shelves near the registers. Thanks.
• 10:40
Speaker 3: So there, there you go. And I think that may
• 10:42
Speaker 3: be the same person that texted me that before. So
• 10:44
Speaker 3: there you go if you go to aight Z out
• 10:46
Speaker 3: And again, they're a fine advertiser of ours. We don't
• 10:48
Speaker 3: care where they come from, but if you can get
• 10:50
Speaker 3: them from one of our advertisers, that's always great too.
• 10:53
Speaker 3: Aight is the outlet is located on sixty There in Jefferson.
• 10:56
Speaker 3: It's really easy to find. So that would be a
• 10:58
Speaker 3: great place to go to get some.
• 10:59
Speaker 6: And a pair right by the register if you're doing
• 11:01
Speaker 6: the quick in and out. Although if you've got the time,
• 11:03
Speaker 6: you want to browse at.
• 11:04
Speaker 4: Eight it is up.
• 11:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, because they got all kinds of they got all
• 11:06
Speaker 3: kinds of good stuff, all right. So again it's tomorrow
• 11:09
Speaker 3: and a big shout out to the folks a Panhandle
• 11:10
Speaker 3: Cleaning and Restoration, because no matter what hair brained idea
• 11:13
Speaker 3: you come up with, they're always there to help you.
• 11:17
Speaker 3: When you walked from from Charleston to Morgantown back in
• 11:20
Speaker 3: the fall, they were the first one they said, hey,
• 11:22
Speaker 3: we're on board. They said that they're on board with
• 11:24
  Speaker 3: this as well.
• 11:25
Speaker 6: Bob and Martin have done a great job of saving
• 11:28
Speaker 6: saving me from myself multiple times. And you know, if
• 11:31
Speaker 6: you have disaster strike your home, fire, burst pipes, they
• 11:35
Speaker 6: can save you too. So thank you Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration.
• 11:37
Speaker 3: All right, and I'll have you or somebody back in
• 11:39
Speaker 3: tomorrow because we're going to be out there all day tomorrow.
• 11:41
Speaker 3: Folks are going to be clamoring to come in here
• 11:43
Speaker 3: and warry normally, you know, It's like I try to
• 11:46
Speaker 3: get people to come on the show and they're like, well,
• 11:48
Speaker 3: I don't know if no tomorrow, No, I got to
• 11:50
Speaker 3: go do Dave Show. I got I gotta be inside
• 11:51
Speaker 3: the building. They'll be They'll be beating the tar out
• 11:53
Speaker 3: of each other just to get in here. Right. I think,
• 11:56
Speaker 3: here's what I think, because whenever we do these live
• 11:58
Speaker 3: events like this, what it's summertime or whatever, it's always
• 12:02
Speaker 3: you know, us guys, it's always us guys and gals
• 12:04
Speaker 3: of the air staff that are outside. I think early
• 12:07
Speaker 3: morning we put the sales weasels out there. That's what
• 12:10
Speaker 3: I think. That would be a great time for the
• 12:11
Speaker 3: sales weasels to see what we go through on our
• 12:13
Speaker 3: regular babs. Can we burn them for warmth? No, that's
• 12:16
Speaker 3: too far. Yeah, that's too back. A couple of them
• 12:18
Speaker 3: would burn like a tire fire. But enough about Ron.
• 12:21
Speaker 3: All right, Rob, I appreciate you being here, man, Hats
• 12:25
Speaker 3: off to you for doing a great job, because again,
• 12:27
Speaker 3: this is not something that we're making money on. This
• 12:30
Speaker 3: is something that we just want to do to give
• 12:31
Speaker 3: back to the community. This is this is as far
• 12:33
Speaker 3: as I'm concerned, this is why radio exists. To help
• 12:35
Speaker 3: our friends and neighbors. So I thought it was just
• 12:37
Speaker 3: for the free T shirts extra extra large baby what
• 12:40
Speaker 3: we got rob Real from a sister station ninety six

• 16:40
Speaker 3: us now judge, good morning, welcome to the show.
• 16:41
Speaker 7: Good morning, buddy, how you doing.
• 16:42
Speaker 3: I'm going I'm one disappointed that you didn't wear the
• 16:44
Speaker 3: robe in this morning. Is that just a courtroom thing? After?
• 16:47
  Speaker 7: That's just a courtroom thing?
• 16:48
Speaker 3: Are there rules around the robe? Did they give you
• 16:51
  Speaker 3: a I know, as an attorney, you've been in a
• 16:53
Speaker 3: lot of court rooms. Did they give you a manual
• 16:56
Speaker 3: protocol for the robe?
• 16:58
Speaker 7: No, there is no protocol, to be honest with you,
• 17:00
Speaker 7: all though, they only give you one robe, so you
• 17:03
Speaker 7: gotta be careful with it, you know, and I.
• 17:05
Speaker 3: Know you're a foodie. That could be a problem. Probably
• 17:07
Speaker 3: you probably better not wear that over to over to
• 17:10
  Speaker 3: the smokeout.
• 17:11
Speaker 7: Now, hot wing sauce and robes don't match.
• 17:13
Speaker 3: So I could just because I'm friends with you, I
• 17:16
Speaker 3: could just see you on day one, you know, showing
• 17:18
Speaker 3: up with with hot wing sauce on on your road.
• 17:21
Speaker 3: But hopefully, hopefully, well I'm having for those that don't know,
• 17:24
Speaker 3: and you've been on the show, you've been a regular,
• 17:26
Speaker 3: of course, you're a former state senator and I've had
• 17:28
Speaker 3: you on the show from time to time for various things.
• 17:31
Speaker 3: Tell us the Rich Lindsay story, though I mean, uh,
• 17:34
Speaker 3: just give us your look, give us your bio.
• 17:35
Speaker 7: Well, you know, I was born here in Charleston. I
• 17:38
Speaker 7: grew up on the West side. I live on the
• 17:40
Speaker 7: east and now with my wife, I've went to school
• 17:43
Speaker 7: here before I went away to school, and West Virginia
• 17:48
Speaker 7: has always been my home. The only time I ever
• 17:51
Speaker 7: was out of Charleston was when we lived in the
• 17:53
Speaker 7: Eastern Panhandle for a short period of time. I went
• 17:56
Speaker 7: to college down at Wingate University in North Carolina, a
• 17:59
Speaker 7: great school. And after that I came back here and
• 18:05
Speaker 7: worked at a place called West Virginia's Helping which was
• 18:08
Speaker 7: a nonprofit where we tried to assist teachers with third
• 18:11
Speaker 7: grade students that's the first grade I think, where they
• 18:13
Speaker 7: had standardized testing. I did that for a year, and
• 18:16
Speaker 7: then I went to DC worked for Center Rockefeller. Then
• 18:19
Speaker 7: I went to law school at Appalachian School of Law,
• 18:22
Speaker 7: which is in Grundy, Virginia, not too far away from
• 18:24
Speaker 7: the border of Mingo County. And now I'm here or not.
• 18:29
  Speaker 3: Now I'm here.
• 18:29
Speaker 7: And then I came back in two thousand and eight
• 18:31
Speaker 7: practice law with my father and mother did that for
• 18:35
Speaker 7: sixteen or seventeen years, and you know, enjoyed that, but
• 18:39
Speaker 7: looking forward to this opportunity and being judged, was this.
• 18:42
Speaker 3: Something that you always wanted to do, was eventually to
• 18:45
Speaker 3: be a judge? I mean, I know, you know you
• 18:46
Speaker 3: were an attorney and shorting the legislature as well, But
• 18:48
Speaker 3: was it in the back of your mind judged something
• 18:51
Speaker 3: that you thought and one day I'd like to be
• 18:53
Speaker 3: a judge, you know what.
• 18:54
Speaker 7: It's one of these things where I did not when
• 18:57
  Speaker 7: I was a kid. I didn't even think about being
• 18:59
Speaker 7: a judge course, and I didn't really think about it
• 19:01
Speaker 7: until after I served in the legislature and got to
• 19:03
Speaker 7: see how the laws we pass affected abuse neglect cases
• 19:09
Speaker 7: foster care. Obviously saw in the four years I was
• 19:13
Speaker 7: there just some real failures in the system and some
• 19:17
Speaker 7: things that needed to be changed. And I also realized
• 19:19
Speaker 7: how important the role of is the role of judge
• 19:22
Speaker 7: is in those situations, and how a judge has a
• 19:25
Speaker 7: lot of power to bring professionals in and try to
• 19:29
Speaker 7: reunify a family where possible, and if not, find the
• 19:32
Speaker 7: next best alternative. And I thought, after my Senate career,
• 19:36
Speaker 7: where can I best serve And this opportunity came with
• 19:40
Speaker 7: the creation of an eighth seat here in the in
• 19:42
Speaker 7: the Circuit Court of Canal County.
• 19:43
Speaker 3: I want to talk about this. Why why is it
• 19:45
Speaker 3: that a new judge. Ship knew a new judge was
• 19:49
Speaker 3: needed for the area.
• 19:50
Speaker 7: That there was a study conducted across the state to
• 19:53
Speaker 7: see what the workload was of judges, And the results
• 19:58
Speaker 7: of that study with regard to Kanawh County was that
• 20:02
Speaker 7: an additional judge need. It was needed because of the
• 20:05
Speaker 7: number of abuse and neglect cases that have taken over dockets.
• 20:09
Speaker 7: I mean, I can tell you I've started practicing in
• 20:11
Speaker 7: two thousand and eight. There were abuse of neglect cases then.
• 20:15
Speaker 7: But I could see, just in my observation of being
• 20:18
Speaker 7: an outsider, how much that those number of cases grew
• 20:21
Speaker 7: over time. And you can talk to any judge across
• 20:24
Speaker 7: the state of West Virginia and they will tell you
• 20:26
Speaker 7: that that takes most of their time, takes most of
• 20:29
Speaker 7: the court's time those types of cases.
• 20:31
Speaker 3: So, and I think, if I'll jump in here, I
• 20:34
Speaker 3: think that sometimes when we think of the judges, we
• 20:38
Speaker 3: think that you're only that you are always doing these
• 20:40
Speaker 3: high profile they've watched way too much, you know, Law
• 20:44
Speaker 3: and Order or whatever. They think that it's always the
• 20:46
Speaker 3: and all cases are important, don't get me wrong, but
• 20:48
Speaker 3: they're not all of the high profile like We've got
• 20:50
Speaker 3: a major one going on in Judge Acre's courtroom right
• 20:52
Speaker 3: now here in Kanawha County that Jeff talked about at
• 20:55
Speaker 3: the top of the show. But they're not all cases
• 20:58
Speaker 3: like that. The majority already, from what you and other
• 21:01
Speaker 3: judges have told me, are those cases that you just mentioned.
• 21:04
Speaker 7: Those types of cases, and you know, just I'll tell
• 21:07
Speaker 7: you so far, I've had a handful of bond reductions
• 21:09
Speaker 7: and a handful of marriage ceremonies and a couple of
• 21:12
Speaker 7: name changes. That's been my docket so far. Most of
• 21:17
Speaker 7: the cases that are filed or small creditor cases, and
• 21:20
Speaker 7: then of course the JA cases. And I'd say, you know,
• 21:22
Speaker 7: I've never given too much thought until at this moment,
• 21:26
Speaker 7: but I'd say JAY cases are probably ten fifteen percent
• 21:29
Speaker 7: so far of my doctor JA those are the abuse neglects.
• 21:33
Speaker 3: Okay, I'm sorry, okay, okay, And that's just starting out right.
• 21:38
Speaker 3: So how are when you have different judges like we
• 21:41
Speaker 3: do here in Canawac County. How has it decided? Who
• 21:45
Speaker 3: gets what? Is it like a rotation base or I mean,
• 21:47
Speaker 3: how does it? Okay, this goes to Judge Lendsay, this
• 21:49
Speaker 3: goes to Judge Acres, just goes Judge Bailey. How does
• 21:51
  Speaker 3: that work?
• 21:51
Speaker 7: It is a rotation base. It's just a random, you know,
• 21:55
Speaker 7: rotation that the clerk's office is set up. And that's
• 21:59
Speaker 7: just how the cases are done. That's all I can
• 22:01
Speaker 7: really tell you. You probably have to get get Kathy
• 22:03
Speaker 7: Gatson in here to tell you how it really gets done.
• 22:06
Speaker 7: But as I understand it, it's a random rotation.
• 22:09
Speaker 3: And they just say, Okay the judge Lindsey, this is
• 22:12
  Speaker 3: what your case.
• 22:13
Speaker 7: Is going to be when your number comes up. Your
• 22:15
  Speaker 7: number comes up.
• 22:16
Speaker 3: So in more wasys than one?
• 22:18
  Speaker 2: Yes?
• 22:18
  Speaker 9: Yes?
• 22:19
Speaker 3: Talking to the new circuit judge here in Kanaan County.

• 22:49
Speaker 3: alluded to the case that we have going on here
• 22:51
Speaker 3: in Kanaan County. There's actually two major cases going on
• 22:54
Speaker 3: in the state of West Virginia. The White Feather and
• 22:57
Speaker 3: Lance case which is in front of Judge Acres testimonies
• 23:01
Speaker 3: going on right now. Jeff Jenkins and I talked about
• 23:03
Speaker 3: it at the top of the show, and they have
• 23:04
Speaker 3: the Cochrane case over in Rileigh County. Those are two
• 23:07
Speaker 3: that are really kind of big in the media right now.
• 23:11
Speaker 3: How And I know you're fresh on the job, but
• 23:14
Speaker 3: when you know you're getting one of these high profile
• 23:18
Speaker 3: and in many cases horrific cases, especially with what we're
• 23:21
Speaker 3: seeing now in Judge Acres's court room here in Kanah
• 23:24
Speaker 3: County and these horrific details, how does one prepare themselves
• 23:29
Speaker 3: for what they are going to hear in these situations?
• 23:34
Speaker 7: Well, I don't know how to prepare for what will
• 23:37
Speaker 7: be said. I do know, and I think Judge Acres
• 23:40
Speaker 7: does a great job of this, and it's something that
• 23:42
Speaker 7: you know by the way that the judges here in
• 23:45
Speaker 7: Kanaw County are wonderful and they've mentored me and answered
• 23:48
Speaker 7: every question I've ever had. But generally speaking, I think
• 23:52
Speaker 7: as judge, when you have a big case, the first
• 23:54
Speaker 7: two things that you think about is the comfort and
• 23:57
Speaker 7: safety of the jury and the comfort and safety of
• 24:01
Speaker 7: the litigans and witnesses, and those are the things so
• 24:04
Speaker 7: you you know, obviously communicating with your bailiff, making sure
• 24:08
Speaker 7: that you know everyone is where they should be and
• 24:11
Speaker 7: that no one is acting out or causing any trouble,
• 24:15
Speaker 7: and making the process. The judge plays an important role
• 24:18
Speaker 7: in making the process as comfortable and easy and efficient
• 24:23
Speaker 7: as possible, because you know, the jury's taking time out
• 24:26
Speaker 7: of their day, they're they're they are fulfilling their civic
• 24:29
Speaker 7: duty to be there, and you need to make sure
• 24:32
Speaker 7: that they're as happy as they can be and in
• 24:36
Speaker 7: performing that duty and weighing in and casting judgment on
• 24:41
Speaker 7: the case, and so you know, someone who's brand new,
• 24:44
Speaker 7: those are the first two things that I think would
• 24:46
Speaker 7: come to mind to any judge taking again making sure
• 24:49
Speaker 7: the jury is comfort comfortable and safety and again with
• 24:53
Speaker 7: the lid agains as well the witnesses. And because I
• 24:55
Speaker 7: think in Judge Acres's case there are a couple minor
• 24:59
Speaker 7: children witness that have taken.
• 25:00
  Speaker 3: This stay in.
• 25:01
Speaker 7: Yeah, and so you just need to be really careful
• 25:03
  Speaker 7: with that.
• 25:03
  Speaker 3: It's a fine it's a fine dance you've got to
• 25:06
Speaker 3: do there to be able. And even as members of
• 25:08
Speaker 3: the media when cut, which you know, I leave that
• 25:11
Speaker 3: to Jeff and Morgan and Cat and those and those folks,
• 25:14
Speaker 3: but even when covering that, you've also got to be
• 25:17
Speaker 3: very careful here at some of this. You know that
• 25:20
Speaker 3: these are miners that we're talking about in many in
• 25:21
Speaker 3: many cases not just this one.
• 25:23
Speaker 7: Yes, and as from what I've read from the reporting
• 25:25
Speaker 7: in the paper and then I popped over there yesterday
• 25:27
Speaker 7: for about an hour. I mean, Judge Acres is great,
• 25:30
Speaker 7: You're doing wonderful in that respect.
• 25:31
Speaker 3: So I think it's interesting that you mentioned the mentorship
• 25:34
Speaker 3: that goes on with the judges as well, Judge, because
• 25:37
Speaker 3: again you're going in with some experience members of the
• 25:41
Speaker 3: bench here and you and you can learn from them.
• 25:43
Speaker 7: No, absolutely, I mean judge, so so keep your mouth
• 25:46
Speaker 7: shut and learn exactly, exactly, and and and again. I
• 25:50
Speaker 7: just think the the Kanawha County bench is wonderful. But
• 25:52
Speaker 7: across the state, I mean, I can't tell you. We
• 25:54
Speaker 7: we went to some type of a baby judge school
• 25:57
Speaker 7: a couple of months ago, and they try to get
• 26:00
Speaker 7: you the judges school. Yeah, but I call it baby
• 26:04
Speaker 7: just because we're all new, right.
• 26:05
  Speaker 10: So, but.
• 26:07
Speaker 7: They do their best in covering a lot of ground.
• 26:10
Speaker 7: There's a ton of ground, even if you've been practicing
• 26:13
Speaker 7: law for twenty years, the stuff that you just don't know.
• 26:16
Speaker 7: And I can tell you that they do a good
• 26:18
Speaker 7: job with that. But they also say, hey, here's my
• 26:20
Speaker 7: phone number. Give me a call. If you ever run
• 26:22
Speaker 7: in anything, give me a coll you. If you run
• 26:24
Speaker 7: into something on the bench that you're unsure of, take
• 26:26
Speaker 7: a minute, go off the stand and give me a
• 26:28
Speaker 7: coll you got a question about it? And I mean,
• 26:31
Speaker 7: we are just lucky as a state, I think, to
• 26:33
Speaker 7: have the circuit court judges we have, especially here in
• 26:35
  Speaker 7: Kanall County.
• 26:37

• 27:01
Speaker 7: That is correct. I went to military school my junior
• 27:06
Speaker 7: and senior year. You know, I enjoyed it. I actually
• 27:11
Speaker 7: thought of, you know, to go off. Here's a little
• 27:13
Speaker 7: bit more information. I thought of a career in the military,
• 27:16
Speaker 7: for what it's worth. I was going to go. My
• 27:18
Speaker 7: government teacher, who was a good guy, but a stickler,
• 27:23
Speaker 7: suggested that I go to the Citadel. I went ahead
• 27:25
Speaker 7: and applaud got in and I tore my acl playing
• 27:31
Speaker 7: lacrosse that spring, and so I couldn't. For those who
• 27:34
Speaker 7: don't know, at the Citadel on any military academy, that
• 27:36
Speaker 7: first year is pretty tough physically. There's a lot of
• 27:39
Speaker 7: stuff that you have to be able to do, and
• 27:41
Speaker 7: I figured I wouldn't be able to do that. So
• 27:43
Speaker 7: I thought, well, I'll end up. I'll go to wing
• 27:45
Speaker 7: Gate for a semester, maybe a year, and then transfer.
• 27:48
Speaker 7: But I met my wife there and so I decided
• 27:50
Speaker 7: to stay at wing Gate. So a history that a
• 27:53
Speaker 7: future that never was but could have been.
• 27:54
Speaker 3: I guess learning more and more about you every day.
• 27:57
Speaker 3: I was at the courthouse last week for your ceremony.
• 28:01
Speaker 3: You had quite the lineup there, packed court room, you know,
• 28:04
Speaker 3: to to to show their you know, their congratulations to you.
• 28:08
Speaker 3: But he had Charlie Trump there, you had several others.
• 28:11
Speaker 3: Your pastor was a wonderful speaker who spoke there for it.
• 28:14
Speaker 3: It's kind of cool. People must like you for some reason.
• 28:16
Speaker 7: Yeah, it's amazing. You know, maybe maybe you should take
• 28:19
Speaker 7: take a lesson in that right now, I'm joking, No,
• 28:21
Speaker 7: I mean, listen, I could I could spend all show
• 28:23
Speaker 7: talking about Charlie Trump, former Senator Trump, now Justice Trump.
• 28:27
Speaker 7: You know, we were we didn't always agree on things,
• 28:30
Speaker 7: uh while I was in the State Senate, but I
• 28:32
Speaker 7: he let everyone have the opportunity to speak, make amendments.
• 28:37
Speaker 7: He was fair, He's always been fair and and patient.
• 28:43
Speaker 7: But as far as Pastor done, now, I am a
• 28:46
Speaker 7: parishioner at Sacred Heart, so but I like to go
• 28:50
Speaker 7: to Pastor done Over at First Baptist. And I you know,
• 28:53
Speaker 7: the reason why I called on him to do this
• 28:55
Speaker 7: for me was because every service, and I can't say
• 28:59
Speaker 7: this about every church, okay, but every service I've ever
• 29:02
Speaker 7: attended and going to see Pastor Donne at First Baptist
• 29:05
Speaker 7: on Shrewsbury, I walk away feeling like a million bucks.
• 29:08
Speaker 7: And I think that everyone has that experience in his congregation.
• 29:13
Speaker 7: And you know, if you get anything out of church,
• 29:16
Speaker 7: I think or attending service, that should be the feeling
• 29:18
  Speaker 7: you get.
• 29:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, Well he was entertaining, to say the least.
• 29:24
Speaker 7: That's another reason why I wanted to before.
• 29:26
Speaker 3: We before we close, what do you want people to
• 29:29
Speaker 3: know about rich Lindsay when they come to your courtroom?
• 29:32
Speaker 7: Well, I think that that what you should know about
• 29:36
Speaker 7: rich Lindsay before you come, or what to expect is
• 29:39
Speaker 7: you'll have your your opportunity to speak out and have
• 29:41
Speaker 7: your case heard, whatever the matter is. Be prepared to
• 29:45
Speaker 7: answer questions. You know, It's one of those things I
• 29:49
Speaker 7: think judges should be prepared to ask questions and to
• 29:52
Speaker 7: get the parties to talk outside of their briefs or submissions,
• 29:57
Speaker 7: and that I'll be fair. So those are the things
• 30:00
Speaker 7: that people should expect or know about me.
• 30:02
Speaker 3: And before I send you on your way here, I'm
• 30:04
Speaker 3: going to give you the opportunity. It's like I do
• 30:06
Speaker 3: when I have my candidates on, I say, I call
• 30:08
Speaker 3: the final thirty. But now just give you an opportunity
• 30:12
Speaker 3: to thank people. You better thank your wife, just throwing
• 30:16
Speaker 3: that out there. Thanks, some just whatever you want to
• 30:18
Speaker 3: say to close this out. Judge, well, sure, you.
• 30:20
Speaker 7: Know, obviously thank my wife. You know, she, as I
• 30:23
Speaker 7: mentioned on Friday, she's my rock. She's she's the opposite
• 30:26
Speaker 7: of me. She doesn't like attention, she's very quiet, but
• 30:29
Speaker 7: she's the one I go to whenever I need advice
• 30:32
Speaker 7: or or or or want a second opinion. So I
• 30:34
Speaker 7: appreciate that. I love her to death, My family, my kids,
• 30:39
Speaker 7: and and then just you know, like I said on Friday,
• 30:41
Speaker 7: there are so many people, a lot of whom attended
• 30:44
Speaker 7: the investiture that did not know it at the time,
• 30:47
Speaker 7: but gave me a word of encouragement, advice or support
• 30:51
Speaker 7: that I really needed. And I appreciate that. You know,

• 34:52
Speaker 3: gonna get to those here momentarily. Anything you want to
• 34:55
Speaker 3: talk about about the new Trump term, you are more
• 35:00
Speaker 3: than welcome. There's some happy, there are some upset, there
• 35:04
Speaker 3: are some that are quite fearful, and there are some
• 35:06
Speaker 3: that thinks it's the greatest thing ever. So I'm going
• 35:08
Speaker 3: to take a back seat and leave it up to you.
• 35:12
Speaker 3: The time is yours, but if you could do if
• 35:15
Speaker 3: I could ask one thing of people that are hardcore
• 35:19
Speaker 3: Trump supporters. And I'm not saying those who necessarily voted
• 35:23
Speaker 3: for Trump. I'm talking about for people that are hardcore
• 35:26
Speaker 3: Donald Trump supporters, and I respect your opinion, could you
• 35:30
Speaker 3: please stop referring to him as daddy. It is creepy
• 35:34
Speaker 3: as hell. I'm just saying, it is incredibly creepy to
• 35:39
Speaker 3: refer to Donald Trump or any other elected official as
• 35:44
Speaker 3: daddy and saying daddy's home. It just is weird. So
• 35:49
Speaker 3: just maybe not so much there temperatures around the state.
• 35:55
Speaker 3: It's five degrees here in Charleston five degrees now on
• 35:59
Speaker 3: Huntingson one degree and more in Town three in Beckley,
• 36:01
Speaker 3: nine in Martinsburg one and Wheeling, one in Elkins, one
• 36:04
Speaker 3: in Parkersburg, six in Lewisbourg. So yeah, you kind of
• 36:08
Speaker 3: get the point. It's a little cold out there, and
• 36:09
Speaker 3: there's a lot of people that were upset about the
• 36:12
Speaker 3: school situation. I heard some coworkers talking about it this morning.
• 36:16
Speaker 3: To have kids in Canawa County schools to my knowledge,
• 36:18
Speaker 3: unless it changed, and it may have, I don't normally
• 36:22
Speaker 3: I get alerts, you know, on my phone here, even
• 36:24
Speaker 3: though I have kids, I get every news alert in
• 36:26
Speaker 3: the world. That Knawa County, I think, was the only
• 36:29
Speaker 3: school in the state that was having in person learning today.
• 36:33
Speaker 3: Putnam County, originally where I live, was originally on a
• 36:35
Speaker 3: two hour delay, but a hour hour two ago they
• 36:38
Speaker 3: opted to go with schools being closed. Now some schools
• 36:40
Speaker 3: are doing the remote learning thing and some are just
• 36:44
Speaker 3: having a day off completely. But unless I am wrong
• 36:46
Speaker 3: and somebody can correct me, I do believe Knawah County
• 36:49
Speaker 3: was the only county in the state of West Virginia
• 36:52
Speaker 3: that had in person, in person school today, and there's
• 36:55
Speaker 3: some people not too happy about that. Sixteen minutes away

• 37:16
Speaker 3: This text says some people have a problem with Daddy's home.
• 37:19
Speaker 3: That's interesting. Did you have that same feeling with Biden's
• 37:22
Speaker 3: munch and their mouthpieces and the Marxist media constantly trying
• 37:26
Speaker 3: to convince the world that adults are back in charge.
• 37:28
Speaker 3: Note when you have to repeatedly tout the well known
• 37:31
Speaker 3: bs like that to people, you're not trying to convince them.
• 37:34
Speaker 3: You are trying to convince yourself. This is just me
• 37:41
Speaker 3: to the texture, and I appreciate the text. Saying the
• 37:44
Speaker 3: adults are back in charge is not nearly as creepy
• 37:47
Speaker 3: as saying Daddy's home. It just is freaking creepy. Okay,
• 37:51
Speaker 3: it's it's as weird. So and for once, we live
• 37:56
Speaker 3: in a world of what about ism? I mean, we
• 37:58
Speaker 3: really really do. And it's on both sides. As soon
• 38:01
Speaker 3: as we talk about something Trump did, well what about
• 38:03
Speaker 3: what Biden did? And as soon as we talk about
• 38:05
Speaker 3: what Biden, well, what about what Trump? That's we live
• 38:08
Speaker 3: in a in a what about is in society? For sure.
• 38:11
Speaker 3: That's kind of where we are. All right, let me
• 38:13
Speaker 3: knock out some text here, and I got a bunch
• 38:15
Speaker 3: Tex says, I'm sure it paines lives like you and
• 38:18
Speaker 3: Hoppy Okay, Hoppy's retired. Now, I'm not a liberal that
• 38:21
Speaker 3: President Trump is back in charge. I said on the
• 38:26
Speaker 3: show yesterday. The people made their decision. I'm good with it.
• 38:33
Speaker 3: I'm good with it. I voted for Donald Trump in
• 38:36
Speaker 3: twenty sixteen and twenty twenty. I did not vote for
• 38:38
Speaker 3: Donald Trump this time. I did not support a candidate
• 38:40
Speaker 3: for president at this time. I couldn't in good conscience. However,
• 38:43
Speaker 3: the majority of people did and they voted, and so
• 38:47
Speaker 3: that's it. It's over. Donald Trump is the president and look,
• 38:50
Speaker 3: and I'm fine with that, and I will, as I
• 38:52
Speaker 3: said on the show yesterday, I will refer to Donald
• 38:54
Speaker 3: Trump as President Trump, because that's what he is. I
• 38:57
Speaker 3: just want what's best for the for the for the country, period.
• 39:03
Speaker 3: That's what I want. Tex says, these people that are
• 39:07
Speaker 3: applauding the Trump executive orders obviously don't have anyone other
• 39:11
Speaker 3: than straight, lily white people in their families and their
• 39:14
Speaker 3: circle of friends. It's sad, says a texture Uh. Tex said,
• 39:23
Speaker 3: no one called Biden daddy. Y'all are weird. What's going
• 39:26
Speaker 3: to happen with the growth in West Virginia from DC
• 39:29
Speaker 3: workers working remotely who now have to go into the office.
• 39:32
Speaker 3: I was having a conversation, uh with with one of
• 39:36
Speaker 3: my co workers about that about this you know, Trump
• 39:38
Speaker 3: is is wants to order all federal employees back in
• 39:42
Speaker 3: the office. And I had one of my co workers
• 39:45
Speaker 3: upstairs this morning as I was getting ready for the
• 39:47
Speaker 3: show that asked me what I thought about that about
• 39:50
Speaker 3: ordering federal workers back into the office and to use
• 39:54
Speaker 3: the to use the relationship status people use on social media.
• 39:58
  Speaker 3: It's complicated. It's complicated because I have been I've never
• 40:03
Speaker 3: been a federal worker. I was a state worker, but
• 40:05
Speaker 3: I've never been a federal worker. Certain some people work
• 40:09
Speaker 3: better from home. They they simply do they they work
• 40:12
Speaker 3: better in that environment. Some people, uh, do not. And
• 40:18
Speaker 3: one of the and I talk to people that hire
• 40:20
Speaker 3: people a lot in in white collar type jobs, and
• 40:24
Speaker 3: quite frankly, one of the first things that they ask
• 40:28
Speaker 3: of their perspective employers is is there and is there
• 40:34
Speaker 3: the ability to work from home? And if there's not
• 40:37
Speaker 3: an ability to work from home, they don't want and
• 40:39
Speaker 3: they don't want to work. And we have a lot
• 40:42
Speaker 3: of jobs available in the federal government, I mean, we
• 40:45
Speaker 3: really really do. And so uh, and I understand that
• 40:49
Speaker 3: when people aren't in the office that the local businesses suffer.
• 40:53
Speaker 3: People aren't you know, going to the coffee shop before
• 40:55
Speaker 3: they're not going to the local maybe going out to
• 40:57
Speaker 3: lunch and uh and plush.
• 40:58
  Speaker 13: You know.
• 40:59
Speaker 3: I think even said Dr Shilly Moore, Capito is talked
• 41:01
Speaker 3: about has talked about this about how we need to
• 41:05
Speaker 3: get government people to work, federal workers. But anyway, I
• 41:07
Speaker 3: kind of went off on a tangent there, But that's
• 41:09
Speaker 3: that's kind of what I have a tendency to do.
• 41:11
  Speaker 2: Uh.
• 41:11
Speaker 3: Sometimes, oh man, they are coming in quickly here Texas,
• 41:19
Speaker 3: no matter what happens in the White House now is
• 41:22
Speaker 3: a conservative Christian, it is nonsensical to me after the
• 41:25
Speaker 3: release of the G six and the response is always, well,
• 41:30
Speaker 3: what did Biden do with Portland and Minnesota? That is
• 41:33
Speaker 3: up to those states. The capital is up to United
• 41:35
Speaker 3: States government. And now that Trump's president, why didn't he
• 41:37
Speaker 3: just go after the people of Portland and Minnesota? Now
• 41:40
Speaker 3: the Statute of Limitations is up on them? Says A
• 41:44
Speaker 3: text text says, uh, thank you for bringing up the
• 41:49
Speaker 3: Daddy term. I saw a friend of mine post on
• 41:52
Speaker 3: Sunday that only one more day till Daddy is back.
• 41:56
Speaker 3: I just shook my head since a Texas see, I'm
• 41:58
Speaker 3: not I'm not Tex says, so it's not about what
• 42:02
Speaker 3: about ism, It's about the inconsistencies and outrage and accountability.
• 42:06
Speaker 3: Big difference Trump says or A text says Trump is

• 42:31
Speaker 3: praising political violence. This country betrayed me. If you voted

Speaker 3: Trump fires ninety five percent of them in total and
• 46:03
Speaker 3: get back to and they get back to work in person.
• 46:05
Speaker 3: Everybody else does. I love watching liberals heads explode over this.
• 46:09
Speaker 3: Democrats are say and do what they accused. Republicans up
• 46:14
Speaker 3: number one. I would say if I start a band,
• 46:16
Speaker 3: I like the name Bloated Goat. I think I just
• 46:19
Speaker 3: got my new band name, Bloated Goat. As far as
• 46:21
Speaker 3: everyone else does, look, I don't really care whether people
• 46:24
Speaker 3: work at home or not. I mean, it's as I said,
• 46:27
Speaker 3: I've worked in office, I've worked at home. It's whatever
• 46:29
Speaker 3: people want to do. But more and more businesses are
• 46:32
Speaker 3: to outside in the private sector are choosing to work
• 46:36
Speaker 3: from home. And it is, as I said, a lot
• 46:38
Speaker 3: of people when they are looking at whether to take
• 46:40
Speaker 3: a job or not these days, it's just kind of
• 46:42
Speaker 3: the culture. And this was actually started before COVID, but
• 46:46
Speaker 3: COVID put the exclamation point on it for people wanting
• 46:49
Speaker 3: to be able to work from home. A lot of
• 46:50
Speaker 3: people when they're looking at jobs are saying, is there
• 46:54
  Speaker 3: a component where I could work from home? That's a
• 46:56
Speaker 3: big part of them. Tex says, love the picture that
• 46:59
Speaker 3: you pod of Jim Justice on his scooter and baby
• 47:02
Speaker 3: dog in her wagon. What a disgrace. Well, I mean,
• 47:08
Speaker 3: at least he was there, and I'm sure that Senator
• 47:13
Speaker 3: Justice is probably not the only person on Capitol Hill
• 47:17
Speaker 3: to use a Rascal or whatever the scooters are called.
• 47:19
Speaker 3: He may be the only one with a dog in
• 47:21
Speaker 3: a wagon. So it says a Texter. Texays, work from
• 47:26
Speaker 3: home because that's the way we've always done it. Blah
• 47:28
Speaker 3: blah blah. It says a Texter, Texas, America is back
• 47:32
Speaker 3: on track with President Trump being back in charge. God
• 47:34
Speaker 3: bless the USA. Tex says, how could a board again
• 47:39
Speaker 3: Christian accept sinful behavior at its core? And wonder why
• 47:43
Speaker 3: people are leaving our churches in droves? Christians voted for Trump.
• 47:47
Speaker 3: Don't understand it, says a text Texas. With all the
• 47:50
Speaker 3: snow and ice and the snowstorms at the beach, I
• 47:53
Speaker 3: don't know how much more global warming I can stand.
• 47:56
Speaker 3: Editor's note extreme weather with hot or cold. Whether you
• 48:01
Speaker 3: believe in climate change or not, extreme weather, it's part
• 48:03
Speaker 3: of climate change. So when people say that, well it's
• 48:07
Speaker 3: thirty below zero, what about global warming, Well that's part
• 48:09
Speaker 3: of it. That's part of climate change. But now you
• 48:12
Speaker 3: can go all day as to whether you believe it
• 48:15
Speaker 3: or not. That's another discussion for another time. Texas. I
• 48:18
Speaker 3: don't care if they work at home or not. I
• 48:20
Speaker 3: don't think you should continue to pay for huge empty buildings. Yeah,
• 48:24
Speaker 3: I completely get that. Text says everybody talking about the
• 48:28
Speaker 3: Trump pardons, but no one said a worried about Biden
• 48:31
Speaker 3: partying the criminal families, said doctor Fauci. Well, on the contrary,
• 48:34
Speaker 3: I think a lot of people set a great deal
• 48:36
Speaker 3: about both the former president and the current president and
• 48:39
Speaker 3: their pardons. Maybe it's time that we look at presidential
• 48:41
Speaker 3: pardons in general. That's not part of the text. That's
• 48:44
Speaker 3: me saying maybe we just need to look at them
• 48:46
Speaker 3: in general. Texas Trump, Trump, Trump. I just love saying
• 48:52
Speaker 3: that because it drives the liberals crazy. And I will
• 48:55
Speaker 3: refer to him as daddy if I want to. That's
• 48:59
Speaker 3: certainly that. Certainly you're right Texas, Hey, Republicans, let's go
• 49:05
Speaker 3: beat up some cops. Daddy Orange Jesus says, this is patriotic.
• 49:09
Speaker 3: F you Republicans, Wow, harsh Dave fy here in Florida,
• 49:14
Speaker 3: we had a winter storm warning and we get a
• 49:17
Speaker 3: lot of sleet where we are.

Speaker 3: Meadows, the co host, the equal hosts whatever he is
• 49:24
Speaker 3: of Metro News talk Line along with Dave Wilson, is here.
• 49:27
Speaker 3: How are you man? I'm good, all right? So where
• 49:29
Speaker 3: are you on this whole working home thing for federal
• 49:31
Speaker 3: are gonna talking? I don't want to take a thunder
• 49:33
Speaker 3: away from the show. You gonna talk about it on
• 49:34
  Speaker 3: the show.
• 49:34
Speaker 13: We're probably not probably not going to get into it.
• 49:36
Speaker 13: Maybe with Capito. But look, I worked from home for
• 49:40
Speaker 13: over half of my career before the pandemic, after the pandemic.
• 49:45
Speaker 13: This is what this comes down to. Good employees are
• 49:49
Speaker 13: always good employees. It doesn't matter if they're in a
• 49:51
Speaker 13: coffee shop, at their house, at the office. If they
• 49:53
Speaker 13: get the job done, they get the job done. In
• 49:55
Speaker 13: my mind, two things here. Employers do not want to
• 49:59
Speaker 13: deal with bad employees, and so you punish everybody because
• 50:02
Speaker 13: that's the easiest thing to do. Make it a mass,
• 50:07
Speaker 13: you know policy. The other thing is downtown's are hurting.
• 50:11
Speaker 13: There's a lot of business that's done at lunch, breakfast,
• 50:14
Speaker 13: you know, a lot of commerce.
• 50:17
Speaker 3: People run out to grab a cup of coffee, they
• 50:19
Speaker 3: run out to you know whatever.
• 50:20
  Speaker 4: I mean.
• 50:20
Speaker 13: I worked in Columbus, Downtown Columbus for a number of
• 50:22
Speaker 13: years remotely, and I got to tell you, Downtown Columbus
• 50:26
Speaker 13: during the day, it's it goes town nationwide. It's the
• 50:28
Speaker 13: biggest employer there. They have sixteen buildings. Last I checked,
• 50:32
Speaker 13: subject to revision, eleven of those sixteen were up for
• 50:35
Speaker 13: sale because they had nobody in them. That's a lot
• 50:37
Speaker 13: of business that goes away from downtown, a lot of
• 50:39
Speaker 13: tax money that goes away from downtown. That's the driver here,
• 50:42
Speaker 13: getting people back into city centers for taxes, and the
• 50:46
Speaker 13: fact that it's easier to just say everybody has to
• 50:49
Speaker 13: work from home rather than dealing with an employee who
• 50:52
Speaker 13: doesn't perform when you allow them to work from home.
• 50:54
Speaker 3: Before we get, I'm trying to get as many taxes
• 50:56
Speaker 3: as I can for I get. You have you do
• 50:58
Speaker 3: a preview of the show to let me read a
• 50:59
Speaker 3: couple tah Texas. How do Christians feel about Trump not
• 51:02
Speaker 3: resting his hand on the Bible during the swearing in?
• 51:05
Speaker 3: Or was that just ai liberal photo shopping? Says a Texter.
• 51:08
Speaker 3: Republicans in control, don't blame Democrats, says a Texter. All right,
• 51:13
Speaker 3: what's coming up on this big show today, mister Meadows.
• 51:15
Speaker 3: We kick off today with Patricia Rucker. She is an
• 51:18
Speaker 3: ardent opponent of DEI. She loves DEI. She's for it,
• 51:24
Speaker 3: and you know we'll talk with her. She's for the
• 51:29
Speaker 3: DEI changes. You may well well let me rephrase that.
• 51:32
Speaker 13: Okay, sorry, you just concuss she's she's against it, and
• 51:37
Speaker 13: we're going to talk with her about that. She sponsored
• 51:39
Speaker 13: a bill in the Senate last year that did a
• 51:41
Speaker 13: lot of what is in the Governor's EO. And even
• 51:43
Speaker 13: more so, we'll have her on the program and discuss DEI.
• 51:46
Speaker 13: Shelley Moore Capito joins us at ten forty five. That'll
• 51:49
Speaker 13: be an interesting conversation. We'll talk all things well Washington.
• 51:52
Speaker 13: I'm sure Pardons will come up, et cetera, et cetera,
• 51:55
Speaker 13: so it should be a jam packed show. And then
• 51:58
Speaker 13: obviously in the eleven o'clock hour, we're gonna talk a
• 52:01
Speaker 13: lot of different issues with Washington.
• 52:02
Speaker 3: What's happening. A lot of open segments on the show today,
• 52:04
Speaker 3: because we want to get the feedback, and that's exactly
• 52:07
Speaker 3: why I did what I did here, to give people
• 52:08
Speaker 3: an opportunity to get hit. All right, I appreciate it, man,
• 52:11
Speaker 3: Thanks a lot. Coming up on this show tomorrow and
• 52:14
Speaker 3: again it's suck Drop Day here on the parking out
• 52:17
Speaker 3: of eleven to eleven Virginia Streets in Charleston. We'll spend
• 52:20
Speaker 3: a little time talking about that. Sean Hill of KRTS
• 52:22
Speaker 3: on the show tomorrow and more on this Friday's Red's Caravan.
• 52:25
Speaker 3: If you haven't done so already, please download the Metro
• 52:28
Speaker 3: News TV app at the WVRC Media App as well.
• 52:31
Speaker 3: As we said, TJ Meadows and mister Wilson coming up
• 52:34
Speaker 3: with talk Line at ten oh six, Mac guitar Murphy
• 52:36
Speaker 3: was my producer. Thank you so much, Murph, I will
• 52:38
Speaker 3: see you tomorrow. Stay warm till next time, have fun.
