- 0:00Speaker 1: Bring in Jeff Mocher though from the Inside the Birds
- 0:02Speaker 1: podcast Inside the Birds dot Com as he joined us
- 0:06Speaker 1: live on the Sports Bash on ninety seven to three ESPN.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Some breaking news today with the Eagles. Mosha, I don't know.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Nolan Smith on the injured list and this one kind
- 0:16Speaker 1: of crept out of right field, right, I mean, there
- 0:19Speaker 1: was no talk about this when the game was over.
- 0:21Speaker 1: So Number one, the impact in your mind of losing
- 0:25Speaker 1: Nolan Smith. We talked about the pass rush on Monday.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Hard to kind of quantify it as you did research
- 0:30Speaker 1: after your hit on Monday show. They didn't have a
- 0:33Speaker 1: lot of third and long pass rushing situations. But how
- 0:36Speaker 1: effective will this defense be without Nolan Smith?
- 0:41Speaker 2: You know what, Nolan's a good player. He does a
- 0:43Speaker 2: lot of the dirty works as a bench rusher. You know,
- 0:46Speaker 2: he's good against the run past on those tolling guards.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Really well, we're only three weeks into the season. I
- 0:54Speaker 2: thought he played well against the Cowboys, decently against the Chiefs,
- 1:00Speaker 2: and again the Rams game was not really a game
- 1:03Speaker 2: meant for past rush. Is the Rams really ran the
- 1:06Speaker 2: ball quite a bit and faced very few third and
- 1:09Speaker 2: long scenarios, So obviously you miss a guy who's the
- 1:12Speaker 2: starting edge. I think that the Darius Smith signing now
- 1:16Speaker 2: looks really really wise by Howie Roseman and the way
- 1:20Speaker 2: he's been able to play and the number of snaps
- 1:22Speaker 2: he's been able to play without having a training camp
- 1:25Speaker 2: or an otah. He can get in there next to
- 1:28Speaker 2: Jalx Hunt and give you that two man rotation or
- 1:33Speaker 2: two man starter and obviously will work more in Maybe
- 1:37Speaker 2: you'll you'll probably, I don't know, we'll see. We'll see
- 1:39Speaker 2: if you see Ojalai up now, or Ball and Konkwo
- 1:44Speaker 2: or maybe even Patrick Johnson for special teams. I don't know.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I don't know if you're gonna see that much difference
- 1:49Speaker 2: of a rotation other than vic Vick will go to
- 1:52Speaker 2: three and he's got Jalen Hunt, and he's got Zadarius
- 1:55Speaker 2: Smith and he's got Josh rout right now, and that
- 1:58Speaker 2: seems to be doing the job. But certainly I will
- 2:00Speaker 2: be tested this week because the Bucks have a beat
- 2:02Speaker 2: up offensive line, and if we're talking about the past
- 2:05Speaker 2: really not getting home for the Eagles, then we're gonna
- 2:08Speaker 2: talk about the injuries and just the overall pass rush
- 2:11Speaker 2: state of it.
- 2:12Speaker 1: So how do you think the snaps kind of go.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I mean, you had Jalx Hunt before it was kind
- 2:16Speaker 1: of like Zadarius Smith Jalx Hunt. You know, does somebody
- 2:19Speaker 1: does Hunt flip side? How do you see them replacing
- 2:23Speaker 1: Nolan Smith?
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think Zadarius Smith steps into that
- 2:28Speaker 2: role and he starts opposite Jalex Hunt. Now Aunt is
- 2:33Speaker 2: still coming along, so it really opens up the door
- 2:35Speaker 2: for us to get more playing time. And you know,
- 2:39Speaker 2: I don't know if it's gonna be like a thirty
- 2:40Speaker 2: three percent snapshare among all three, but it wouldn't surprise
- 2:44Speaker 2: me if it looked like that at the end of
- 2:46Speaker 2: the game, or even if they got a fourth in there.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I'm curious to see if VIC does anything differently because
- 2:53Speaker 2: of this adjustment to the heat and humidity. They're flying
- 2:56Speaker 2: out Friday, they're trying to acclimate. I did feel like
- 2:59Speaker 2: they got worn down last year. Now they also got
- 3:02Speaker 2: worn down because they're on the field so much because
- 3:04Speaker 2: they had they were a completely different defense. You guys
- 3:07Speaker 2: remember that they couldn't stop any anything for that game,
- 3:11Speaker 2: and this game you would think will be different, But
- 3:14Speaker 2: I do. I am curious to see if for this
- 3:16Speaker 2: game and in that environment, if Vic does want to
- 3:19Speaker 2: get an extra edge and maybe even extra interior alignment
- 3:23Speaker 2: active to be a part of a rotation.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher from the Inside of the Birds podcast Inside the
- 3:28Speaker 1: Birds dot Com, It's our Football at four. Every day
- 3:31Speaker 1: at four o'clock, we give you Eagles football and the
- 3:33Speaker 1: Eagles today, Nolan Smith placed on the injured list. He
- 3:37Speaker 1: wasn't the only one, but probably the most important one.
- 3:40Speaker 1: When you look at the Eagles defense, where do you
- 3:43Speaker 1: put Nolan Smith in terms of the importance to what
- 3:47Speaker 1: makes their defense, what their defense is?
- 3:53Speaker 2: Ask me that again, You're asking me how important Nolan
- 3:56Speaker 2: Smith is to what the defense is.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah, like if another like if you lost Miles game,
- 4:00Speaker 1: your best edge rusher that team like that, that messes
- 4:03Speaker 1: them up time? Where is he in terms of the
- 4:07Speaker 1: Eagles defense and how they what they want from their defense?
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, it's it's interesting. I never want
- 4:14Speaker 2: to minimize anybody's injury, but I don't think it's as
- 4:18Speaker 2: I don't. I don't want to get snaked it by
- 4:20Speaker 2: saying this, but I don't. I don't think it's as
- 4:21Speaker 2: impactful now as say, if the Eagles lost like like
- 4:25Speaker 2: Quinon Mitchell, right, or even Zack Bond because things.
- 4:31Speaker 1: And that's essentially what that's essentially what I'm asking there
- 4:34Speaker 1: is is it seems that it feels like they can
- 4:37Speaker 1: handle losing him more than Jalen Carter or Quinon Mitchell.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Right, Yes, I think so they should be able to.
- 4:46Speaker 2: And that's that's the whole thing. I mean, you're look
- 4:48Speaker 2: at it. They've got five edge rushers, uh six, I
- 4:54Speaker 2: won't say seven with Patrick Johnson, he's mostly a special teamer,
- 4:56Speaker 2: but you know, between Funt and between Zadarius Smith and
- 5:01Speaker 2: between Ouce and between Oglari and oo Okuran quote, they've
- 5:08Speaker 2: got that's what's five right there, and six would be
- 5:10Speaker 2: obviously Nolan Smith. But they've got a bunch of guys
- 5:13Speaker 2: who played NFL caliber edge and have had a certain
- 5:16Speaker 2: degrees of success. So it is an area where they've
- 5:19Speaker 2: got some bodies. What they lack though, And this is
- 5:22Speaker 2: where your question fits in, and it might have been
- 5:25Speaker 2: a question even if Nolan Smith is healthy, is do
- 5:28Speaker 2: they got a dog twelve to thirteen of fourteen fifteen
- 5:33Speaker 2: sat kind of guy like you've seen from either Hassan
- 5:35Speaker 2: Reddick or you know, Joshwen has been a really menacing
- 5:39Speaker 2: guy in the past. That was the question going into
- 5:42Speaker 2: the year about it. So that's why it's hard to
- 5:45Speaker 2: really know how much they're losing with Nolan, other than
- 5:47Speaker 2: we know that they're losing a pretty good player, but
- 5:50Speaker 2: a game changer, I don't know. And the guys that
- 5:52Speaker 2: they're replacing him with are all are are theoretically guys
- 5:55Speaker 2: who've done some things in the NFL too.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and by the way, according to reports, is a
- 6:02Speaker 1: strange tri sip. He's not getting surgery. This is from
- 6:05Speaker 1: the super Bowl. He aggravated that injury. He had the
- 6:08Speaker 1: triceip surgery a week after the super Bowl. He aggravated it.
- 6:12Speaker 1: So the plan is to let him rest every turn
- 6:14Speaker 1: after the buy So I guess most there is no
- 6:18Speaker 1: guarantee that he makes it all the way through this
- 6:21Speaker 1: season that this couldn't be a factor somewhere down the line.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, we're learning a lot now about this injury,
- 6:28Speaker 2: at least I am. I mean, because Brandon Graham retore
- 6:32Speaker 2: his you know after the super Bowl, right, because so
- 6:35Speaker 2: he wasn't fully ready to return. He'd put it all
- 6:39Speaker 2: on the line to play in the super Bowl, did
- 6:41Speaker 2: great and then not pre tearing the triceps and now
- 6:44Speaker 2: you're seeing Nolan Smith, who was medically clear. Now let
- 6:47Speaker 2: me be clear on that he was deemed underd percent.
- 6:50Speaker 2: He was I think wearing a sleeve at some points
- 6:52Speaker 2: or earlier in the spring. But I mean he was
- 6:55Speaker 2: cleared to go and has been playing reinjure the same area.
- 6:58Speaker 2: So it's clearly one of those injuries that is tricky
- 7:02Speaker 2: and can be aggravated pretty easily.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Mosha obviously that he wasn't the only guy. Jakorian Bennett
- 7:09Speaker 1: and Darius Cooper. Cooper obviously a smaller role. Bennett doesn't
- 7:12Speaker 1: have a huge role, but also a Dori Jackson got
- 7:16Speaker 1: banged up last week, had a groin. Now he did
- 7:18Speaker 1: practice I think today, But you're starting to see the
- 7:21Speaker 1: battle of attrition come in here for Philadelphia, and you
- 7:24Speaker 1: wonder is Kaylee Ringo the next guy? They did also
- 7:28Speaker 1: elevate Eli Rix And if you wonder if that spot
- 7:31Speaker 1: is going to eventually, you know, you feel like you
- 7:34Speaker 1: got your thumb in the hole and you're just waiting
- 7:35Speaker 1: for the leak to spring.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Actually I think Lenneil i Rix. They just brought
- 7:40Speaker 2: him back to a practice squad and if I'm not mistake,
- 7:42Speaker 2: he's on the No. Guy who got signed to the
- 7:44Speaker 2: fifty three was Mark Sets. But I think it's interesting.
- 7:49Speaker 2: You know, Vic said something the other day in the
- 7:50Speaker 2: press offers that was sort of like maybe me scratch.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I didn't know what to make of it. He was
- 7:55Speaker 2: somebody asked him about his cornerback depths and he made
- 7:58Speaker 2: a remark that he told kill Ringo, Oh, then he
- 8:00Speaker 2: you know, to not get down on himself, that he's
- 8:03Speaker 2: gonna have to play a role. And at the time
- 8:06Speaker 2: this is just maybe yesterday, the day Befoork, I'm thinking,
- 8:09Speaker 2: when is he gonna play a role? I mean, he's
- 8:10Speaker 2: buried behind not only the two starters maybe it was
- 8:14Speaker 2: you who asked me on Monday, but not only two starters,
- 8:16Speaker 2: but also the number three corner and then Mattel Williams.
- 8:20Speaker 2: You never know what was going on there, but you know,
- 8:21Speaker 2: you have Bennett, you had a Dory Jackson, and you
- 8:23Speaker 2: have Quinnon Mitchell. But now I feel like Big was
- 8:26Speaker 2: basically forthadowing to us something that we weren't gonna find
- 8:29Speaker 2: out until today. And Matt Kingy really might have to
- 8:31Speaker 2: play a role, especially since the Dory got banged up
- 8:34Speaker 2: a little bit in the last game.
- 8:35Speaker 1: By the way, Nickerson is the one that was elevated
- 8:38Speaker 1: Rick practice squad Nickerson to the fifty three. All right,
- 8:42Speaker 1: so today Nick Sirianni just spoke a little while ago,
- 8:46Speaker 1: and you know, he was asked about what do you
- 8:47Speaker 1: see on film in the running game? You're starting to
- 8:50Speaker 1: hear a lot of the questions about how conservative they are.
- 8:53Speaker 1: They're getting blitzed a lot here. Is this like something
- 8:57Speaker 1: that you think is like busting at the seams or
- 8:59Speaker 1: did the Eagle say, don't care, We'll be as boring
- 9:02Speaker 1: as we want to be.
- 9:05Speaker 2: No. I think the Eagles are smart and they can
- 9:10Speaker 2: see the trend that's been developing of how teams are
- 9:13Speaker 2: playing them with two deep safeties on first and second down.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Then how many as for them? I mean, when you
- 9:19Speaker 2: see a team like the Rams, who were blitzing at
- 9:22Speaker 2: twelve percent, which is one of the lowest in the league,
- 9:26Speaker 2: I think third lowest in the league, all of a
- 9:28Speaker 2: sudden doing things that they were doing and blitzing at.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Of course, you know that other teams are trying to
- 9:34Speaker 2: do something different, so you can't just do the same thing.
- 9:37Speaker 2: And I'd be really really surprised. And if they came
- 9:39Speaker 2: out and just tried to execute the same play calls
- 9:43Speaker 2: that they have been in the same order and thinking
- 9:46Speaker 2: everything's going to be fine. Wouldn't surprise me if they
- 9:48Speaker 2: felt the need to come out throwing a little bit
- 9:51Speaker 2: more on first and second down to open up the
- 9:54Speaker 2: run game instead of vice versa like they've been doing.
- 9:57Speaker 1: All right, Bocha, you got a tough game this week.
- 9:59Speaker 1: You obviously too Teams three and oh Buccaneers that they've
- 10:02Speaker 1: been winning close games. The Eagles have been kind of
- 10:05Speaker 1: scratching and clawing here, but this is the Jalen Hurts
- 10:08Speaker 1: one in four against the Bucks, including playoffs, but he's
- 10:12Speaker 1: had a lot of different reasons why they've lost this game.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Is this a bad matchup for them being on the
- 10:17Speaker 1: road here circumstance those losses in the past, or is
- 10:21Speaker 1: this Bucks team another team that could give you problems?
- 10:25Speaker 2: Well, they can definitely give you problems. The weird thing
- 10:28Speaker 2: is it just seems like neither team when they play
- 10:30Speaker 2: this game. This is about you know how we talked
- 10:32Speaker 2: about the Cowboys game where it's almost very it's almost
- 10:34Speaker 2: infrequent anymore that Jalen Hurts gets the face Dak Prescott. Well,
- 10:38Speaker 2: it's almost in prequent that the Bucks and Eagles play
- 10:42Speaker 2: each other without having you know, massive amounts of injuries
- 10:45Speaker 2: the Bucks offensive line. If you look at what they're
- 10:48Speaker 2: starting offensive line, what was intended to be, and what
- 10:51Speaker 2: it will be on Sunday, you're gonna have all five
- 10:53Speaker 2: linemen in a different place than where they were originally
- 10:56Speaker 2: intended to start because of two or three areas. Yeah,
- 11:00Speaker 2: of course Mike Evans is not gonna be able to play.
- 11:03Speaker 2: So by the way, let me let me amend that
- 11:05Speaker 2: if Tristan Wurfs does come back and play, he'll play
- 11:08Speaker 2: left tackle. Then that will be one of the five
- 11:11Speaker 2: that is you know, supposed to play where he's supposed to.
- 11:13Speaker 2: But we have to see if he makes it there.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Same thing with Godwin. So they're beat up on the
- 11:17Speaker 2: old line. They lost Elijah Cantsy, a really good dependsive
- 11:21Speaker 2: tackle for the season, I think, and then they're they're
- 11:25Speaker 2: just you know, beat up at wide receiver with with
- 11:28Speaker 2: Evans and maybe god would not coming back. We oft
- 11:30Speaker 2: to see that. And like we just talked about all
- 11:32Speaker 2: the injuries that the Eagles are dealing with, So first
- 11:35Speaker 2: of all, you know, it's still through really good teams
- 11:38Speaker 2: going to feed the teams and through teams that have
- 11:40Speaker 2: really kind of cornered the market this year on figuring
- 11:44Speaker 2: out ways to win games, you know, like gunning them
- 11:48Speaker 2: out in the fourth quarter. So it's always gonna be fun.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I think that the weather really will help favor the Bucks.
- 11:54Speaker 2: But the Bucks aren't throwing the ball around like they
- 11:57Speaker 2: did last year when Baker had more than forty touchdowns.
- 11:59Speaker 2: They're they're almost more of a defensive team, and they're
- 12:02Speaker 2: not running the.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Ball very well.
- 12:03Speaker 2: So it almost feels like both these teams going go
- 12:07Speaker 2: into this game sort of like, man, we're three, and
- 12:09Speaker 2: oh we're good. We have a history of being good,
- 12:11Speaker 2: but we'd really love to correct our mistakes pretty quickly here,
- 12:15Speaker 2: you know.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Yeah, well, and you look at you mentioned it the
- 12:18Speaker 1: fact that they have these weapons in the past game
- 12:21Speaker 1: and they're not having the same success throwing the football
- 12:24Speaker 1: that they have, yet they're still three, And oh, I
- 12:27Speaker 1: wonder how much the Eagles took from that second half
- 12:30Speaker 1: and kind of look at that as a as a
- 12:33Speaker 1: you know, kind of a you might have been the
- 12:35Speaker 1: one that said that, were you on Monday saying that
- 12:37Speaker 1: this is like the game where they kicked the sixty
- 12:38Speaker 1: one yard field goal. It's kind of like a jumping
- 12:40Speaker 1: off point to the season, kind of like finding a
- 12:45Speaker 1: groove in the season. If that second half offensively makes
- 12:48Speaker 1: Kevin Matula feel a little bit more confident in his
- 12:51Speaker 1: abilities to kind of unpeel the onion to a different layer.
- 12:54Speaker 2: A little bit, I think as a staff that has
- 12:58Speaker 2: to think that way, I don't think they really have
- 13:01Speaker 2: much of a choice. And I think if they want
- 13:02Speaker 2: Saquon Barkley to get some guys out of the box
- 13:05Speaker 2: and off of it able to be the run team
- 13:08Speaker 2: that they love to be, they do have to throw
- 13:10Speaker 2: the ball a little bit more, and I taking him
- 13:13Speaker 2: out a little further, Mike, I think that means that
- 13:15Speaker 2: even if they because the difficulty of that is that
- 13:20Speaker 2: you sort of playing into Todd Bowles hands. Because Todd
- 13:23Speaker 2: Bowles wakes up every morning at whatever time, five am,
- 13:26Speaker 2: six am, and the first thing he does is draw
- 13:28Speaker 2: up a blitz. That's what he is. He just he
- 13:32Speaker 2: can't stop thinking of different blitzes. And it's not the
- 13:35Speaker 2: same blitz he's He's not just gonna throw you like
- 13:37Speaker 2: a five man rush with the linebacker. He's gonna put
- 13:40Speaker 2: like seven guys in the line of scrimmage only send
- 13:43Speaker 2: four drop three. I mean, he just messes up your
- 13:46Speaker 2: protection schemes. He's brilliant. Honestly, I watch a lot of
- 13:49Speaker 2: tape and some of the things he does are mind
- 13:52Speaker 2: boggling to me. I just have all the respect in
- 13:54Speaker 2: the world for how he does it. So it's hard
- 13:57Speaker 2: to say I want to get my pass game going
- 13:58Speaker 2: this when you know that that means you're gonna have
- 14:01Speaker 2: like all these bodies like flying at your left and right.
- 14:03Speaker 2: But I think the important thing for the Eagles is
- 14:06Speaker 2: not to view any kind of early struggle as a
- 14:10Speaker 2: reason to not throw the ball. You know, you're good
- 14:14Speaker 2: at it, and yeah, they're gonna come at you, but
- 14:16Speaker 2: so were the Rams. So if you can you might
- 14:19Speaker 2: take a snack here, you may get an incompletion of
- 14:21Speaker 2: HRD throw, But hey, if you can hit two or
- 14:24Speaker 2: three down the field to Brown or Smith, then you
- 14:26Speaker 2: make up for that. And I do think that they've
- 14:28Speaker 2: got to figure a way to do that.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know, we talk about it all the time,
- 14:32Speaker 1: like if you put this offensive talent in other systems
- 14:36Speaker 1: or other teams, like it almost feels like they would
- 14:39Speaker 1: be they would score like thirty five points a game,
- 14:42Speaker 1: but for whatever reason, they choose not to be that
- 14:45Speaker 1: team until they feel like being that team. And it's
- 14:48Speaker 1: almost like we have this feeling of you can't just
- 14:50Speaker 1: flip the switch on whenever you feel like it. But
- 14:52Speaker 1: the Eagles say otherwise, right, They're just like, we can
- 14:54Speaker 1: if we feel like it.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I mean, they've done it before. I mean sometimes they
- 14:57Speaker 2: do it week to week. You know last year that
- 15:00Speaker 2: a couple of games where where it was like, oh
- 15:02Speaker 2: my god, you know, what are you doing offensively? The
- 15:05Speaker 2: quarterback is not looking like seeing obvious receivers open right
- 15:08Speaker 2: in front of him, but they, you know, somehow got
- 15:11Speaker 2: out of way. And then then then the next week
- 15:13Speaker 2: they play the Steelers. They come out throwing or no
- 15:15Speaker 2: no huddle up, tempo, hurts, complete like seventy percent of
- 15:18Speaker 2: passes brown deep sweep, And you're like, how is it
- 15:22Speaker 2: that you just did that in against the Steelers who
- 15:24Speaker 2: have one of the best defenses you know, yearly every year,
- 15:28Speaker 2: not this year, but in general. But you couldn't do
- 15:31Speaker 2: that to like the Jaguars or something the last three
- 15:34Speaker 2: teams you played. I'm done sort of trying to figure
- 15:37Speaker 2: it out, like when it's gonna happen and when it's
- 15:39Speaker 2: not gonna happen. And I think that game against the
- 15:41Speaker 2: Rams is about as good as an example of it.
- 15:44Speaker 2: You know what. You might think it's never gonna happen,
- 15:46Speaker 2: and then bam it comes and droves and then vice versa.
- 15:49Speaker 2: You made thinks, all right, this is the week playing
- 15:51Speaker 2: the Cowboys. They're all beat up in the secondary, they're
- 15:53Speaker 2: gonna and then they struggle. So who knows?
- 15:55Speaker 1: Yeah, you all, And you know, fans watch games and
- 15:58Speaker 1: people watch games in the observation is that in your
- 16:02Speaker 1: mind you are thinking of how to win every game
- 16:07Speaker 1: at the best way possible. And sometimes these teams are
- 16:12Speaker 1: lining things up for three and four and five weeks
- 16:15Speaker 1: down the road, right, and and it's like, hey, we
- 16:17Speaker 1: didn't practice this group of plays this week, so we
- 16:19Speaker 1: know we have it in our arsenal, but we're just
- 16:21Speaker 1: not using it right now.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it'd be nice, nice to play out something the
- 16:26Speaker 3: opponent hasn't seen, because it seems like opponents are doing
- 16:29Speaker 3: that to the Eagles, no weapon, right each week, trying
- 16:32Speaker 3: to hit them with something that they're not expecting.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Eagles are just stubbornly like, well, we have this
- 16:38Speaker 1: in our back pocket, but we're not going to show
- 16:40Speaker 1: you because we still think we can beat you without
- 16:42Speaker 1: showing you that.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, listen, I think sometimes when you're a success,
- 16:47Speaker 2: I mean, the Eagles have won eighteen of nineteen games, right,
- 16:50Speaker 2: so going back to last year, which is in this
- 16:53Speaker 2: day and age, that's that's incredible. Like I'd have to
- 16:56Speaker 2: go back and look and see if the Patriots and
- 16:58Speaker 2: that in the Tom Brady area. I mean, I know
- 17:00Speaker 2: went undefeated one year, so maybe they probably did. But
- 17:03Speaker 2: so that's what the company that we're talking about here,
- 17:06Speaker 2: and so it's hard for them probably to hear someone
- 17:09Speaker 2: saying you got to switch it up and try a
- 17:11Speaker 2: few different things. But I mean, clearly you do. You
- 17:14Speaker 2: always have to evolve, you always have to adapt well.
- 17:17Speaker 1: And the question, you know, the last question that he
- 17:21Speaker 1: Sirianni got asked today was the disconnect when you hear
- 17:25Speaker 1: the word conservative, that there's a disconnect from you know,
- 17:28Speaker 1: the fans of the and and by the way A
- 17:33Speaker 1: j and Hurts using that word and the Eagles coaching
- 17:36Speaker 1: staff saying I don't know, I don't I don't see
- 17:38Speaker 1: us as conservative.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, but I also think that they're just
- 17:44Speaker 2: not trying to feed into any narratives right now. I
- 17:47Speaker 2: really think that. I think you also heard him say,
- 17:50Speaker 2: you know, we keep you know what we do in house.
- 17:52Speaker 2: We we have a plan and right so, I don't
- 17:54Speaker 2: really put too much I don't I don't think right
- 17:57Speaker 2: now that this coaching staff is at odds with its
- 18:01Speaker 2: personnel on what they want to do. I do think
- 18:04Speaker 2: there are times that the coaching staff wants to play
- 18:08Speaker 2: to the strengths and eliminate the weaknesses of the personnel.
- 18:11Speaker 2: So they do what they do, and sometimes the players
- 18:14Speaker 2: may not like that, you know. I mean, you've seen
- 18:17Speaker 2: the players finger pointing each other in the past, like
- 18:19Speaker 2: you should we should do anything this better, No, we
- 18:21Speaker 2: should be doing that better. That happens over the course
- 18:24Speaker 2: of the seasons.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Jeff Moscher from the Inside the Birds podcast. Check that
- 18:27Speaker 1: out on all podcasting platforms, Inside the Birds dot Com
- 18:31Speaker 1: and every day on Football at four right here on
- 18:33Speaker 1: the Sports Past Live on ninety seven to three ESPN.
- 18:36Speaker 1: They're going down a day early too. Most Maybe they'll
- 18:39Speaker 1: hang out down on Clearwader Beach and get themselves some
- 18:41Speaker 1: group or sandwiches.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Maybe maybe there's some establishments on Dale Maybury that people
- 18:49Speaker 2: like to go to Hey real quick, Mike Real Quick
- 18:53Speaker 2: on Philly Voice either later day or tomorrow, and then
- 18:55Speaker 2: even on Inside the Birds podcast, I really took a
- 18:58Speaker 2: real deep dive because Red Cofell said on Inside the
- 19:02Speaker 2: Tape which came out today, that Jordan Davis and Jill
- 19:05Speaker 2: and Carter did not play well at all in run defense,
- 19:08Speaker 2: which is I ron it because he said in the
- 19:12Speaker 2: first half and into the third quarter and the fourth
- 19:13Speaker 2: quarter totally different. And obviously those two guys won the
- 19:16Speaker 2: game by blocking the field goals. But then I went
- 19:19Speaker 2: and looked at it today. All I looked at seventeen
- 19:21Speaker 2: runs that the Rams had that were five yards or
- 19:24Speaker 2: more and Greg nailed it. Man. I mean, those guys
- 19:26Speaker 2: were getting really pushed back, driven off the ball, getting
- 19:30Speaker 2: out of their gaps very notting. That's you can't do
- 19:32Speaker 2: that against the Bucks. They like throwing the ball. They've
- 19:35Speaker 2: struggled with it this year, but they're going to continue
- 19:37Speaker 2: to try and do it and it's gonna be hot.
- 19:39Speaker 2: You can't lose your technique and your leverage like I
- 19:42Speaker 2: saw Jordan Davis do on tape quite a bit in
- 19:44Speaker 2: the first half when when that heat settled in, so
- 19:47Speaker 2: something to watch for.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Definitely good stuff. Check that out of Philly Voice. By
- 19:50Speaker 1: the way, there's a darren Sproles jersey in the house.
- 19:53Speaker 1: You see that, you'll know that every day? Do you
- 19:56Speaker 1: nice little darren Sproles jersey in the house. By the way,
- 19:58Speaker 1: real quick, most I brought this over a your take
- 20:00Speaker 1: on it before we leave. Nakobe Dean is supposed to
- 20:05Speaker 1: come back, what next week or the week after? Could
- 20:07Speaker 1: they possibly use Jahad Campbell to utilize him in a
- 20:12Speaker 1: Nolan Smith way?
- 20:14Speaker 2: I mean, we have to see first, like, because Nikobe
- 20:17Speaker 2: Dean has to do a lot. He's he'll be able
- 20:20Speaker 2: to be back, but he hasn't even practicing. You know,
- 20:23Speaker 2: it's not like he's gonna come back and then just
- 20:25Speaker 2: get on the field. This guy has not been able
- 20:26Speaker 2: to do anything all throughout the spring and the summer.
- 20:29Speaker 2: So he's in my mind, he's gonna need a couple
- 20:31Speaker 2: of weeks just to get himself back into shape. And
- 20:36Speaker 2: at that point, you know, I don't know if you're
- 20:39Speaker 2: gonna want depending on what their Eagles are doing. You
- 20:41Speaker 2: don't take a first round pak who's playing well off
- 20:43Speaker 2: the field, like you said, do you move the edge maybe,
- 20:46Speaker 2: but I don't know that he's gonna be any any
- 20:50Speaker 2: better at the edge right now than what they're getting
- 20:51Speaker 2: from three guys. But there's certainly some opportunity that potentially
- 20:55Speaker 2: could exist. But the number one thing that has to
- 20:57Speaker 2: happen is Nikkobe Dane has to show he can still
- 21:00Speaker 2: play that position well coming off another big injury to
- 21:05Speaker 2: that the lower body area.
- 21:07Speaker 1: I was remember, like Michael Parsons his rookie year, like,
- 21:11Speaker 1: when they had to move him to as an edge
- 21:13Speaker 1: rusher out of necessity.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Remember. I guess that worked out well for Micah.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Yeah, they never moved him back. They never moved him
- 21:22Speaker 1: out of that role. Really. All right, we'll catch up
- 21:25Speaker 1: to you on Monday, man, all
- 21:27Speaker 2: Right, take care
