Latest / FPL Pod / S8 Ep6: FPL Pod: Time to sell off Cole Palmer?
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Two game weeks down, It's time for a death Con chat,
- 0:03Speaker 1: mainly because Sam's desperate for a defender. We discussed downgrading
- 0:06Speaker 1: Sacchar and Palmer debate a tricky captaincy, and we have
- 0:09Speaker 1: our first Jewels Assist front of the season. Well this
- 0:15Speaker 1: is the first FBL podcast I think ever that Sam
- 0:19Speaker 1: Bonfield has just admitted she did not want to join. Hello,
- 0:22Speaker 1: Welcome back to the fblod Kelly Somemmers, Juliana On and
- 0:26Speaker 1: Sam with escone. Sam, you can go first. I had
- 0:29Speaker 1: an actual nightmare, guys. I'd love to say I didn't notice,
- 0:33Speaker 1: but I was trying.
- 0:33Speaker 2: To notice what happens.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Oh, it had jeels. Now, now come on, we didn't notice.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I think you might have noticed. Yeah, it was just
- 0:42Speaker 3: an absolute disaster. So on Friday night, obviously I only
- 0:47Speaker 3: had cor Palmer in the Chelsea game, and I was
- 0:49Speaker 3: already anxious about that anyway, because I was like, I
- 0:51Speaker 3: don't have a Chelsea defender and west Ham haven't exactly
- 0:53Speaker 3: looked like they're going to score loads of goals, so
- 0:55Speaker 3: that's probably going to be problematic. And then I didn't
- 0:58Speaker 3: have gel pedgo and obviously the highest stoned player in
- 1:01Speaker 3: the game, so I was thinking, now he goes off,
- 1:03Speaker 3: this is going to be a disaster. So thankfully I
- 1:05Speaker 3: was on holiday and could just kind of try and
- 1:07Speaker 3: ignore the fact that this was happening in the background.
- 1:10Speaker 3: So when west Ham schoad, I was like, Okay, maybe
- 1:13Speaker 3: it's not going to be quite so bad as I thought.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Maybe it'll be okay. No, no, it wasn't, and that
- 1:17Speaker 3: was a bit of a premonition for the rest of
- 1:20Speaker 3: the weekend, where everything that could go wrong kind of did.
- 1:24Speaker 3: The only thing that really went well for me is
- 1:26Speaker 3: that I'd benched. I'd benched Mickey Vandaven, so thankfully Cole
- 1:31Speaker 3: Palmer was absent because Mickey then comes off the bench
- 1:34Speaker 3: for his six pointers, so I was grateful of that,
- 1:36Speaker 3: but everything else was pretty much a disaster. I had
- 1:39Speaker 3: to bravecurring goal, so I was grateful to him. But
- 1:43Speaker 3: eight nor we obviously went off injured to a one
- 1:45Speaker 3: pointer for him to Kuper got a zero pointer even
- 1:48Speaker 3: though we played in that one. Marilla lost his clean
- 1:50Speaker 3: she got one. Judi behol did nothing and I'm clearly
- 1:54Speaker 3: on the wrong Everton asset there, so that was a problem.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Kudis nothing against Man City, even though Spurs won and
- 2:01Speaker 3: thenverts nothing for him. Again, that's a bit frustrating Salah
- 2:04Speaker 3: last minute. But Salah in the last minute with that
- 2:07Speaker 3: assist was almost it was almost worse because I hadn't
- 2:10Speaker 3: captained him, so the fact that he then did something
- 2:13Speaker 3: had a negative impact on my rank. So that was fun.
- 2:17Speaker 3: And then I'd captain Dolly Watkins and I have Motesta
- 2:19Speaker 3: instead of Joe Pedro, so pretty much as bad as
- 2:22Speaker 3: it could get.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Helt how many points? Because you haven't said the most important.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Yet thirty two thirty two Saturday?
- 2:29Speaker 2: How many points did you get on Sunday and Monday?
- 2:31Speaker 3: Jewels, Joe Pedro got pretty much half my half the
- 2:34Speaker 3: points of my whole To.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Refresh, refresh you out. Maybe there's some points that I've
- 2:38Speaker 2: been lost somewhere. Just refresh it.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Do you know what I cannot wait to download it.
- 2:43Speaker 3: I cannot wait for Saturday at eleven thirty when the
- 2:46Speaker 3: game goes past its reboot mode and I can just
- 2:49Speaker 3: look at game week three and not have to look
- 2:51Speaker 3: at game week two any I.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Want to call you a magic Johnson now because I
- 2:54Speaker 4: was wearing number thirty two when I was playing NBA,
- 2:55Speaker 4: So now you're going to be magic Johnson, go on Magic.
- 2:58Speaker 1: You know so many people had difficult weeks. Sam, It's
- 3:00Speaker 1: not just you. I mean you just got really unlucky
- 3:02Speaker 1: that you had every single player dad a disaster. The
- 3:06Speaker 1: only thing is your goalkeeper outscored my goalkeeper. It makes
- 3:08Speaker 1: you feel any better you picked the right one.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I did pick the right goalkeeper. Yeah, I'm clutching for you, thanks,
- 3:13Speaker 3: cals And to be fair, like I should have just
- 3:16Speaker 3: played Ronaldo over to Kalper, but I just I don't know.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I thought playing a Sunderland defender versus my Bernie goalkeeper
- 3:25Speaker 3: felt a little bit ridiculous, so I went with Calper instead.
- 3:28Speaker 3: But yeah, it was just one of those weeks, wasn't it.
- 3:30Speaker 3: And I think a lot of managers, like I was
- 3:32Speaker 3: saying before we came on here, like it was the
- 3:34Speaker 3: first time ever doing these podcasts over the years that
- 3:36Speaker 3: I was like, I really really don't want to go today.
- 3:40Speaker 1: However, God, I've had many of those, Sam, Welcome to
- 3:43Speaker 1: my wild Yeah that's true.
- 3:45Speaker 3: A lot of if your managers will be in the
- 3:46Speaker 3: same boat as me this week because it was a really,
- 3:48Speaker 3: really difficult game, IELs they will. It was a really
- 3:52Speaker 3: difficult game week.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Jee's gone talk us through your game week then, because
- 3:55Speaker 1: we were quite similar in that we got in the fifties.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Yeah, first one to say, I've got three tune and
- 4:00Speaker 4: the only two in the house because the oldest one
- 4:02Speaker 4: is going to Parish to with his girlfriend. But that's
- 4:03Speaker 4: three and two like some. Basically, no, I got a few,
- 4:07Speaker 4: got a few more points.
- 4:08Speaker 2: No that it was not a great work.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I'm only teasing something, really, but fifty four just above
- 4:12Speaker 4: average the braftcard good in goal then had decent defense
- 4:16Speaker 4: once Van Derven came in for Copama, of course with
- 4:19Speaker 4: six points. Mosalla and Saka were the two that returning
- 4:22Speaker 4: me faceing nothing for vi It Winders had a terrible game,
- 4:25Speaker 4: I thought, with City and then a front like some
- 4:28Speaker 4: my captain only Watkins thinking this could be good and
- 4:31Speaker 4: despite the decent expected goals, is still blanked and this
- 4:34Speaker 4: Villa team is despairing me.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Really, so four points.
- 4:37Speaker 4: For him and then jo Pedro saved the day like
- 4:39Speaker 4: I think he saved the day of a love of manager.
- 4:41Speaker 2: So I was only teasing some. Really, man is not
- 4:43Speaker 2: much better.
- 4:44Speaker 1: One thing that we should say at this point, by
- 4:45Speaker 1: the way, you did sell as we didn't you.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I did, And I apologized for last week's show
- 4:50Speaker 4: because I really thought it was the three game bags.
- 4:53Speaker 1: You know what we all do, because I should have
- 4:55Speaker 1: noticed it. Sam should have noticed it, like we we all.
- 4:58Speaker 1: It was just an oversight. We get too excited on
- 4:59Speaker 1: this sometimes and we made a mistake, didn't we.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yeah, completely, So it was just a one match band.
- 5:04Speaker 4: So if you haven't sold them, I mean I was
- 5:05Speaker 4: kind of happy to sell him because I don't I
- 5:07Speaker 4: don't feel this Villa defense at all and this Villa
- 5:09Speaker 4: team overall at the start of the season.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Margie came and did really well for most.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Of this game against Forest apart from the goal, but
- 5:18Speaker 4: I thought it was that was going to be a
- 5:20Speaker 4: goal without considering again without considered goal, but it was
- 5:22Speaker 4: not to be.
- 5:23Speaker 2: But still yeh, for Conci, it was just a one
- 5:25Speaker 2: match man.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a one match band. So his back
- 5:27Speaker 1: for this game week. But of course, with how Villa
- 5:30Speaker 1: a plan, as you said, probably wasn't the worst thing
- 5:32Speaker 1: in the world to sell your assets. Okay, then let's
- 5:34Speaker 1: check in on the FPL Pod Mini League got a
- 5:36Speaker 1: new leader at the summit, Jay Kingham and his team
- 5:39Speaker 1: frimping Pong moved I like that from fifth. Last weekend
- 5:43Speaker 1: he played his free hit, he got seventy six points.
- 5:45Speaker 1: He captain Soaker, he had a step six points off
- 5:48Speaker 1: the bench for Farmer, and his defense did really well
- 5:50Speaker 1: as well. We had Gabrielle Tarkowski and Kukai alsoid yocharis Semeno,
- 5:54Speaker 1: Ando al Pedro, basically had everyone that Sam didn't. It's
- 5:57Speaker 1: actually back to back Jason's in game week one, he
- 6:02Speaker 1: sits fifty third in the world. At this early stage,
- 6:04Speaker 1: we've got a tie for second place. At the moment,
- 6:06Speaker 1: we've got witty Blings. You've got eighty five points, and
- 6:09Speaker 1: Daniel Larsen ended game week one in eighty third and
- 6:12Speaker 1: he rowse eighty one places, so he now sits thirdy
- 6:16Speaker 1: captain Yokras. That was a bold move and even had
- 6:18Speaker 1: Jack Grealish in his team for his debut a couple
- 6:21Speaker 1: of assists that he got for ever. To remind it,
- 6:23Speaker 1: if you haven't joined Hour Mini League yet, our code
- 6:25Speaker 1: is x y six xp l okay. Then very shortly
- 6:29Speaker 1: we are going to talk about the injuries and bands
- 6:31Speaker 1: in game week two and the best replacements. But before
- 6:33Speaker 1: we do that, let's actually take a look at the
- 6:35Speaker 1: defensive contributions, because Sam, it was something we spoke about
- 6:38Speaker 1: a lot pre the season. It was something new to us,
- 6:41Speaker 1: something that maybe altered our way of thinking a lot.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But actually I've been quite surprised at the amount of
- 6:47Speaker 1: deaf conpoints we've seen given already. It's changing the way
- 6:51Speaker 1: I almost watched football in the Premier League.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. And I think we were all expecting
- 6:56Speaker 3: some players to get defensive contribution points across the week,
- 7:00Speaker 3: but I don't think we were expecting there to be
- 7:02Speaker 3: quite so many in each game. Like you know, I
- 7:05Speaker 3: look at Brentford this week. We've had six players get
- 7:07Speaker 3: defensive contribution points in their game at the weekend. That's
- 7:11Speaker 3: massive when you think that, you know, okay, it is
- 7:13Speaker 3: two points, so it's not gonna, you know, change change
- 7:18Speaker 3: everything about the way that you're playing, but it is
- 7:20Speaker 3: important and I think, you know, particularly when you're talking
- 7:23Speaker 3: about your cheaper assets, those additional two points here and
- 7:27Speaker 3: there make the world of difference in terms of how
- 7:29Speaker 3: a game we goes for you. So yeah, I think
- 7:32Speaker 3: we weren't probably expecting the impact that it's had so far,
- 7:36Speaker 3: and maybe it calms down a little bit when we
- 7:38Speaker 3: get into the more regular, maybe more normal weeks of
- 7:44Speaker 3: the season, I guess where there's less goal threat and
- 7:47Speaker 3: maybe there's a few more clean sheets around, But certainly
- 7:49Speaker 3: at the moment it's having a massive impact.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yeah, so so far, we've had thirty three defenders get
- 7:55Speaker 1: deaf con or hit the deaf con kind of threshold,
- 7:58Speaker 1: shall we say, in game week one, eighteen in game
- 8:01Speaker 1: week two, and there's a couple actually that have already
- 8:03Speaker 1: hit twice already, Virgil van Dyke and top Cofski. We
- 8:06Speaker 1: did probably expect that, given the fact that we knew
- 8:08Speaker 1: last season they would have got it, but also lacrosse
- 8:10Speaker 1: Anssi Vanderberg and Delitte have both got it in the
- 8:13Speaker 1: opening weeks as well. Jules, when you were looking at
- 8:16Speaker 1: your replacement for Conza and when you're looking at other
- 8:19Speaker 1: defenders potentially, are you taking these kind of things into consideration.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you should be, really, And it also
- 8:25Speaker 4: depends on the fixture coming. If it's a very dominant
- 8:28Speaker 4: team or very good team and they have a lot
- 8:30Speaker 4: of the ball, it's less likely that if the opposition
- 8:32Speaker 4: team doesn't attack that merge that it would get to
- 8:35Speaker 4: that number. But if you think about it for a defender,
- 8:37Speaker 4: really it's not it should whatever defend and that's why
- 8:40Speaker 4: I think there have been so many. It's not too
- 8:42Speaker 4: hard really to get to the threshold that you mentioned
- 8:45Speaker 4: to get those points. It's not like if they had
- 8:48Speaker 4: to do I don't know, fifty interception titles or blogs
- 8:52Speaker 4: or in one game. So if you think about it
- 8:53Speaker 4: over nineteen minutes, because usually those guys played the whole
- 8:56Speaker 4: nineteen minutes too, it's really rare that you have center
- 8:58Speaker 4: bags being replaced after an hour or seventeen minutes unless
- 9:01Speaker 4: there's an injury, but if there's not, the usually play
- 9:03Speaker 4: the whole game, so in nineteen minutes. Really, this is
- 9:06Speaker 4: something that a lot of them should be able to achieve.
- 9:09Speaker 4: And like some said, Branford for example, on a really
- 9:11Speaker 4: good game where the game.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Is a lot about intensity, a lot of players get there.
- 9:15Speaker 2: So I think it's it's really interesting.
- 9:19Speaker 4: There's still some things that are quite interesting in the
- 9:21Speaker 4: sense that Virgil van Dyke, for example, has been terrible
- 9:24Speaker 4: in the game, like the Liverpool defense so far this season,
- 9:27Speaker 4: and what would save him just about it is those
- 9:30Speaker 4: death com points. But apart from that, it's just not
- 9:33Speaker 4: hasn't been good enough for somebody who's one of the
- 9:35Speaker 4: most expensive defenders in the game. So it's not just
- 9:39Speaker 4: looking at those numbers saying okay, yeah Van Dyke can
- 9:41Speaker 4: hit those death con but the rest hasn't been good
- 9:43Speaker 4: enough the dead that Liverpool would be better defensively, and Van
- 9:46Speaker 4: Dyke keeps getting clean sheets, then it changes slightly the
- 9:49Speaker 4: dynamic because from six points you go to eight at
- 9:52Speaker 4: least without the bonus points, and that makes a big difference.
- 9:54Speaker 4: But if Van Dyke gets one point or two points,
- 9:57Speaker 4: I guess you get to four, but are still not
- 10:00Speaker 4: maybe as good as somebody that would get a clean
- 10:01Speaker 4: sheets like Tarkovskia the weekend plush the death con points.
- 10:05Speaker 2: That makes a massive difference.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Yeah, no clean sheets so far for Virgil, as you said,
- 10:10Speaker 1: not been the best Liverpool defensively, but for death con Sam,
- 10:14Speaker 1: are there any other names on there that kind of
- 10:15Speaker 1: have jumped out to perhaps surprise you in the opening
- 10:18Speaker 1: weeks or maybe change the way you think about them.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I think there's been a few. I mean I think
- 10:22Speaker 3: for me, the really interesting thing and when I've been
- 10:23Speaker 3: looking at deaf Con, because obviously I've got ignor in
- 10:26Speaker 3: my team who looks like I'm going to need a
- 10:28Speaker 3: replacement for. So I've been looking at defenders a lot
- 10:31Speaker 3: this week, whilst trying to ignore my team sitting there
- 10:35Speaker 3: with its thirty two points. So I've been looking at
- 10:38Speaker 3: that a lot, and I've kind of found it really
- 10:40Speaker 3: fascinating because there's some teams like Spurs who have had
- 10:43Speaker 3: very very little death conpoints so far this season. Only
- 10:46Speaker 3: Romero's picked up to deaf conpoints, but yet they're doing
- 10:49Speaker 3: incredibly well for points because they're keeping clean sheets. So
- 10:52Speaker 3: Poros on eleven, vander Venn Spencer on twelve, and then
- 10:54Speaker 3: Romero's on thirteen. So wh I'm trying to balance that
- 10:58Speaker 3: and the fact that you've got some teams that are
- 11:00Speaker 3: doing incredibly well defensively and have been really solid, but
- 11:04Speaker 3: there's a been novill deaf Con and it's similar for
- 11:07Speaker 3: Arsenal as well against the teams that aren't necessarily keeping
- 11:12Speaker 3: clean sheets all the time, but we are seeing the
- 11:15Speaker 3: deaf compoints. So like when I'm looking at replacements, because
- 11:17Speaker 3: I've already got Spurs defender, I don't want another one.
- 11:20Speaker 3: I'm pondering, therefore, do I go for Arsenal because Whilst
- 11:23Speaker 3: I'm not really seeing the deaf con there, I am
- 11:25Speaker 3: seeing plenty of good defensive security, as we always do
- 11:29Speaker 3: with that Arsenal defense. But then there's also players like
- 11:33Speaker 3: the Crystal Palace, ones like Lacoir who I'm kind of
- 11:36Speaker 3: really interested in potentially going for. But then you have
- 11:40Speaker 3: to weigh that up against the fact that Daniel Mynolds
- 11:42Speaker 3: is also there, not getting as many deaf compoints, not
- 11:45Speaker 3: necessarily stacking them, but has the attacking threat. So you
- 11:48Speaker 3: have to kind of balance these two different factors because
- 11:52Speaker 3: whilst the attacking threat is what we've always traditionally look
- 11:55Speaker 3: for in a defender, you don't get them very often
- 11:58Speaker 3: with the defensive players. So you might get the plus
- 12:01Speaker 3: four once every three or four weeks maybe, but actually
- 12:04Speaker 3: with the defensive contributions, if you get it right, you
- 12:07Speaker 3: could be getting them every week and that would therefore
- 12:10Speaker 3: equal more points over the course of a four game
- 12:13Speaker 3: week period. So I'm looking at La Cub, but I'm
- 12:16Speaker 3: also thinking about you yours. I'm looking at Tarkovski because
- 12:19Speaker 3: I just think we can't really overlook that and that
- 12:21Speaker 3: Everton fixtures now actually do look relatively decent. Over the
- 12:25Speaker 3: next few weeks and maybe we see more clean sheets.
- 12:28Speaker 3: I'm kind of intrigued by Nathan Collins at Brentford as well.
- 12:32Speaker 3: I prefer the fixtures for Brentford now, and I was
- 12:34Speaker 3: encouraged by what I saw from them against Aston Villa
- 12:37Speaker 3: at the weekend. I'm not completely certain that I'm not
- 12:41Speaker 3: completely sold there either. And then there's the new cost
- 12:44Speaker 3: or defense who Dan Byrne did well for dev Conn
- 12:48Speaker 3: in game week two, but then we've got the Sharh
- 12:51Speaker 3: injury and the concussion substitution for him, which maybe unsettlers
- 12:55Speaker 3: the back line, the fact that they had injuries to
- 12:57Speaker 3: Joe Linton, yeah to Nally so there were so many
- 13:03Speaker 3: issues then, and obviously the Gordon red cards that maybe
- 13:07Speaker 3: I want to avoid them all together. So it's that
- 13:09Speaker 3: balancing act between the ones that I think we'll do
- 13:11Speaker 3: well for death co versus the ones I think we'll
- 13:14Speaker 3: keep clean sheets, and then the ones I want who
- 13:16Speaker 3: I think might get attacking retens. And ideally you want
- 13:18Speaker 3: the players that sit in the middle of that little
- 13:20Speaker 3: group who maybe have all three of them, and it's
- 13:22Speaker 3: working out who those players are in these early weeks.
- 13:25Speaker 1: All it's done for me, I think is when I'm
- 13:26Speaker 1: looking at defenders, it's kind of just expanded the pool
- 13:28Speaker 1: a tiny bit, whereas before it's just like just either
- 13:31Speaker 1: you're either attacking fullbacks or your ones that I like
- 13:34Speaker 1: to get clean sheets. It's just opened the pool, hasn't
- 13:36Speaker 1: it for it for a few more. And it's kind
- 13:38Speaker 1: of the same case with midfield because we've said it
- 13:41Speaker 1: in earlier pods. It's just changed the way we think
- 13:43Speaker 1: about defensive midfielders. I think really for the first time ever,
- 13:46Speaker 1: we're looking at them and we're thinking, actually, they could
- 13:49Speaker 1: be good value for money. With midfielders, that's a little
- 13:52Speaker 1: bit different because the death con have been different in
- 13:54Speaker 1: game week one. In game week two is the only
- 13:57Speaker 1: midfielder who's got four deaf cone points, And I think
- 14:00Speaker 1: we all got a little bit excited. Like with Kai
- 14:02Speaker 1: Saido scoring last weekend, for example, I was at work
- 14:06Speaker 1: and someone there who'd never played Fantasy Port before picked
- 14:10Speaker 1: and I like joke that it was a stroke of luck.
- 14:11Speaker 1: But people people will have picked him because of death con.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Are we considering it as much with midfielders though, Jeels.
- 14:17Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I think I think we should look at
- 14:18Speaker 4: it as well. But what's interesting is that we thought earlier.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Anderson are Forrest who would have done really well last
- 14:23Speaker 4: season if we had counted those death com points, But
- 14:26Speaker 4: this season so far, he's not there. I mean with
- 14:28Speaker 4: her is there, but he plays right back, So it's
- 14:30Speaker 4: the midfielder that plays right back for Brighton. I was
- 14:32Speaker 4: at the game and so there Everton where he struggled
- 14:35Speaker 4: against Jack realish. But yet because he's in that position,
- 14:39Speaker 4: it's easier for him to get to those points than
- 14:43Speaker 4: maybe if he was playing in midfield properly, like Casid
- 14:46Speaker 4: or Anderson. Well, I find really interesting in them, and
- 14:48Speaker 4: that's why it kind of changed maybe your mindset about
- 14:51Speaker 4: it is that there's four attacking midfielders in those lists
- 14:54Speaker 4: of death complayers, because you would associate those points with
- 14:57Speaker 4: defensive midfielders like the ones we mentioned. But actually for
- 15:00Speaker 4: all the guard for Brentford, who actually played front.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Yeah, what is a Yeah, that's an interesting way.
- 15:06Speaker 4: It's a fascinating because the guy played as a second.
- 15:10Speaker 4: They played with two of fronts with him and Antiago,
- 15:14Speaker 4: and then he's still got those defensive compoints, which is amazing.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Really Tavanni and Dam's guard at the other So Dam's
- 15:20Speaker 4: guard and Brentford.
- 15:21Speaker 2: With some explained it very well earlier.
- 15:23Speaker 4: But for all the guards I guess because of the activity,
- 15:26Speaker 4: and especially for Watara Ice it's quite remarkable. So if
- 15:29Speaker 4: you can have a forward or an attacking with Philder
- 15:33Speaker 4: that also brings you some defensive contribution points, then hello,
- 15:37Speaker 4: this is this is brilliant.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Maybe tells you a bit about how Brent for the plane,
- 15:40Speaker 1: Yeah get death compoints. They were pretty impressive against Auston Villa,
- 15:45Speaker 1: but maybe that was more on Villa as well. Fixture Sam,
- 15:48Speaker 1: when you're looking at deaf Con, how important is that
- 15:50Speaker 1: because surely if they're playing a team that are going
- 15:53Speaker 1: to attack like, they're more likely to get death compoints.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I mean, I'm simplifying it there, but that's what it
- 15:57Speaker 1: comes down to, isn't it. Yeah, So weirdly the opposite simplify.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I think, yeah, no, but you're right, and I think
- 16:02Speaker 1: weirdly it's the opposite for clean sheets. So normally you
- 16:05Speaker 1: look at clean sheets and you look at the fixtures
- 16:06Speaker 1: and you go, right, the easier the fixture, the more chance.
- 16:09Speaker 3: They're going to have of getting a clean sheet. With
- 16:11Speaker 3: dev Con, you almost want to go, okay, I want
- 16:14Speaker 3: a team that's going to attack a lot. So a
- 16:16Speaker 3: team that's really going to be focused in on attacking.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Now that in some ways can be often at the
- 16:21Speaker 3: beginning the newly promoted sides because they don't so much
- 16:23Speaker 3: rely on their defense and they will go out and
- 16:25Speaker 3: attack because the attack is the best form of defense
- 16:27Speaker 3: in some cases. But for a lot of teams it's
- 16:30Speaker 3: the ones that have got really good attacking threat that
- 16:33Speaker 3: means that you're more likely to see the dev conpoints
- 16:35Speaker 3: from the other teams that they're facing, because obviously they're
- 16:39Speaker 3: going to have to do more defensive work across the
- 16:41Speaker 3: course of that game. So yeah, there's a weird juxtaposition
- 16:45Speaker 3: there between the defensive contributions and the potential for clean sheets,
- 16:49Speaker 3: and you ideally want to find that middle ground that says, well,
- 16:52Speaker 3: I'm likely to get both, but it's difficult to find
- 16:56Speaker 3: that often because if you're going to get dev con,
- 16:57Speaker 3: then you need the opposition to attack you, and therefore
- 17:00Speaker 3: that obviously opens up the opportunities for the opposition to score,
- 17:04Speaker 3: which is maybe what we've been seeing with Virgil. To
- 17:06Speaker 3: be honest, we've been seeing that he's been getting the
- 17:08Speaker 3: deaf con because the teams that he's faced in Bournemouth
- 17:10Speaker 3: and Newcastle have come and attacked, but they've also because
- 17:14Speaker 3: they've come and attack, scored goals and therefore he's lost
- 17:17Speaker 3: the clean sheets. So there is a bit of a
- 17:19Speaker 3: balance to be had there. But the fixture does seem
- 17:21Speaker 3: to be quite important for death Com for sure.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Okay, let's move on, because deaf con is something that's
- 17:26Speaker 1: fascinating us and maybe we have to look into a
- 17:27Speaker 1: little bit more. One thing we don't have to look
- 17:29Speaker 1: into is when we look at our team, seeing the
- 17:31Speaker 1: red flags, seeing the lack of points for the popular
- 17:33Speaker 1: players as well. I'm looking at you, Olie Watkins. Actually
- 17:37Speaker 1: I haven't hammer duty to one mind, you captain most
- 17:39Speaker 1: Salah that didn't go That was the best captain of
- 17:41Speaker 1: the weekend though, pretty much unless she got.
- 17:44Speaker 3: At the end.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Again though, say you right at the end like I
- 17:46Speaker 1: thought it was going to be. I thought it was
- 17:48Speaker 1: going to be very similar. But my point is when
- 17:50Speaker 1: we're looking at our teams at the moment, we're probably
- 17:52Speaker 1: all we're either tearing our hair out like Sam, or
- 17:55Speaker 1: all a little bit disappointed with some of the players
- 17:57Speaker 1: that we thought we were going to be goodbid. Let's
- 17:59Speaker 1: start with the injuries. Actually, no, Sam, I want to
- 18:01Speaker 1: ask a question first, what is the threshold for a
- 18:04Speaker 1: wild card? Because I'm hearing a lot of people were
- 18:07Speaker 1: you tempted? I half wondered if you'd come on here
- 18:11Speaker 1: and say you're world carding, But I'm probably thinking that
- 18:13Speaker 1: the reason you're notice because it's international brain next week.
- 18:15Speaker 3: I am very very, very very tempted because there's so
- 18:19Speaker 3: many players that I really don't.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Like in my team at the moment. You didn't mention it.
- 18:24Speaker 3: I didn't haven't mentioned it, but I think and if
- 18:28Speaker 3: you'd have asked me, if we'd have recorded this podcast
- 18:29Speaker 3: on Monday, I'd have said, I think I'm quite likely
- 18:33Speaker 3: to hit the button. However, over the course of the week,
- 18:37Speaker 3: I've kind of calmed down with it, and I look
- 18:40Speaker 3: at it, and I've got two free transfers because I
- 18:41Speaker 3: didn't make one coming out of game week one. So
- 18:43Speaker 3: I'm looking at it and I'm thinking, well, reacting now
- 18:47Speaker 3: is probably not the right thing to do. I'm probably
- 18:49Speaker 3: best to use my two free transfers to deal with
- 18:51Speaker 3: the flags that I have in my team. Give it
- 18:54Speaker 3: one more week, and then over the international break, I
- 18:57Speaker 3: can assess whether it's the right moment to hit the
- 18:59Speaker 3: world or not because it gets me past the Arsenal
- 19:03Speaker 3: versus Liverpool game, which I don't feel like I want
- 19:05Speaker 3: to be more heavily invested in than IOIDM, and then
- 19:08Speaker 3: it gives me the opportunity to look towards the fixtures
- 19:11Speaker 3: wing for both Arsenal and Manchester City and maybe invest
- 19:15Speaker 3: just a little bit earlier than I was planning too
- 19:17Speaker 3: with those two teams. So for me, if you're looking
- 19:19Speaker 3: at your team and there's like five or six players
- 19:21Speaker 3: that you think I definitely want rid, that's the number
- 19:23Speaker 3: where I then start to think about whether I should
- 19:25Speaker 3: worldcard or not. But with two free transfers and actually
- 19:28Speaker 3: the fact that I can, I'm looking at my team
- 19:31Speaker 3: and I quite I don't mind it. Again for this week,
- 19:33Speaker 3: it looks okay for this week. Apart from that every
- 19:36Speaker 3: week and well yeah, I mean last week, to be fair,
- 19:39Speaker 3: I looked at my team for last week and I
- 19:40Speaker 3: was really happy with it. I was like, this is
- 19:41Speaker 3: going to be a really good week.
- 19:43Speaker 1: And never goes well when you feel like that, doesn't know.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Whereas this week I look at it and I go, okay,
- 19:47Speaker 3: there's a few things I don't like about it, but
- 19:49Speaker 3: I think I can play through this week and be
- 19:51Speaker 3: okay with a couple of transfers. So yeah, I think
- 19:54Speaker 3: if you're looking at it and you've got five or
- 19:56Speaker 3: six issues, and you've got multiple flags, and maybe you've
- 19:59Speaker 3: already used transfer and you only have one going into
- 20:01Speaker 3: this week, then's the moment. But if you can get
- 20:04Speaker 3: to next week an international break, that feels like a
- 20:07Speaker 3: more sensible play.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Jors, what about you if you consider it at all?
- 20:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I know I looked at it.
- 20:12Speaker 4: There's a few people who also played the game that
- 20:16Speaker 4: I know who are in how many leagues who are
- 20:17Speaker 4: playing it. I think it's quite tempting, especially now that
- 20:20Speaker 4: we've got the second one coming on later. I agree
- 20:25Speaker 4: with everything Sam just said. It depends really where your
- 20:27Speaker 4: team is at, because they are, as we've been saying
- 20:29Speaker 4: last week, there still players that you could give a
- 20:32Speaker 4: bit of time to add, not too much, but like
- 20:35Speaker 4: a flower, and Veltz obviously needs a bit of time
- 20:37Speaker 4: still to adapt to Liverpool. We thought it would do
- 20:40Speaker 4: better by now, but it still hasn't really hasn't really
- 20:44Speaker 4: clicked for him, but he might well clicked on Sunday.
- 20:46Speaker 1: How long do we give him though, Jews.
- 20:48Speaker 2: I know, but probably this weekend. I don't know. It's
- 20:50Speaker 2: a tough obviously tough game, super super tough game, but.
- 20:53Speaker 4: I think, yeah, I think it's probably worth giving him
- 20:56Speaker 4: another week sent for Watkins who will be at home
- 20:58Speaker 4: to Crystal Palace.
- 20:59Speaker 2: And again that's not going to be easy.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Oh my patients is.
- 21:03Speaker 2: About a lot of the players, and.
- 21:07Speaker 4: You can't change everybody unless you play your worldoud night case,
- 21:09Speaker 4: which is also a possibility. But I just think there's
- 21:12Speaker 4: still some some players that probably deserves just one more
- 21:16Speaker 4: week and then we see and there's an international break.
- 21:18Speaker 1: By the way, Jules mentioned then he said, especially since
- 21:20Speaker 1: we've got the second World card, don't be lourding, guys.
- 21:22Speaker 1: It's still the same number of World cards last season.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Of course, I don't think we're getting an extra one,
- 21:26Speaker 1: but you've got four other chips, haven't we. That's why
- 21:29Speaker 1: I just, you know, I just want to clarify people
- 21:31Speaker 1: thought we were getting another World cast. Yeah, maybe we
- 21:36Speaker 1: can call it the slight of Sam bomb Field World Card.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Imagine John, Okay, let's go back to let's go back
- 21:41Speaker 1: to some of the injuries then that are causing us
- 21:45Speaker 1: a few headaches to some of the common you owned players.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Cole Palmer got injured in the warm up of Chelsea's
- 21:50Speaker 1: victory against west Ham. The one saving grace from this
- 21:53Speaker 1: was at least you got injured in the warm up
- 21:54Speaker 1: and not a minute in or something like that. We
- 21:56Speaker 1: don't want to see any player get injured, but let's
- 21:58Speaker 1: be honest, loads of us had aspersed result. First defender,
- 22:01Speaker 1: first self. Sorry, so it could have been a lot worse.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Maresca later said he felt something in his growing, wasn't it.
- 22:08Speaker 1: But it doesn't sound like it's going to be incredibly
- 22:10Speaker 1: long term. But we just don't really know, do you.
- 22:13Speaker 2: No, we don't. I mean his face on the bench
- 22:17Speaker 2: looked so think how many's he going of got? Yeah,
- 22:20Speaker 2: and frustrated and angry like not to be able to play.
- 22:24Speaker 2: I don't know. Growing grown can be very difficult too.
- 22:28Speaker 2: It can take you a long time.
- 22:29Speaker 4: This didn't didn't seem that serious either from Maresca, and
- 22:34Speaker 4: this is it is a big game. But the weekend,
- 22:36Speaker 4: of course is the Southwest London derby against Fulham, so
- 22:39Speaker 4: I think they were probably want him back for that.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Although ro Pedro did really well in the kopama position,
- 22:46Speaker 2: which is probably his best position too.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Let's be honest here behind behind Liam de Lap. So
- 22:52Speaker 4: I'll risk it personally and I would keep Hama and
- 22:54Speaker 4: I'll put him in the team because I think there's
- 22:55Speaker 4: a there's there's a chance that he would be ready
- 22:57Speaker 4: for Sam.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Are you going to risk it?
- 23:00Speaker 3: I don't think so. I think I'm going to sell
- 23:01Speaker 3: a lot of money, isn't it?
- 23:02Speaker 1: So not a player player?
- 23:04Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 23:04Speaker 3: Because also it's international break next week, so does Moresca
- 23:07Speaker 3: just think, right, well, let's not risk him for the
- 23:09Speaker 3: Fulham game at the weekend, and then he's got a
- 23:11Speaker 3: couple more weeks to recover fully ahead of game week four,
- 23:14Speaker 3: depending upon whether, of course he goes away on international
- 23:17Speaker 3: duty with England or not. And if it's a risk,
- 23:20Speaker 3: then I would assume that he wouldn't go, and therefore
- 23:22Speaker 3: maybe not playing him in three is a good opportunity
- 23:26Speaker 3: to give him a bit of a rest and make
- 23:27Speaker 3: sure that that Gin is okay. Because Moresca did also
- 23:29Speaker 3: say that he'd been feeling it before. I also haven't
- 23:31Speaker 3: been impressed with Palmer the opening two weeks, and I
- 23:34Speaker 3: think he's got one open play goal since January for Chelsea,
- 23:38Speaker 3: so it's not like he's in really good form, and
- 23:41Speaker 3: the opening two weeks he's been okay, but quite frankly
- 23:44Speaker 3: a bit disappointing for ten point five million. So I'm
- 23:46Speaker 3: looking at it and I'm thinking okay, And to be honest,
- 23:50Speaker 3: on Saturday morning, when we were talking about what had
- 23:53Speaker 3: happened the night before with the Chelsea game, I was like, oh,
- 23:55Speaker 3: maybe I'll just go for soccer a bit early. Then
- 23:57Speaker 3: it's an easy sound And then of course we saw
- 23:59Speaker 3: an injury to soccer as well, so that kind of
- 24:01Speaker 3: throws it. And I think that for me is maybe
- 24:03Speaker 3: why some people will keep Palmer, because there isn't that
- 24:06Speaker 3: natural come down to soccer anymore. There are others, and
- 24:10Speaker 3: I'm just thinking about going massively cheaper and having a
- 24:13Speaker 3: load of money in the bank which maybe I can
- 24:15Speaker 3: then use to upgrade somewhere else, because I just wasn't
- 24:18Speaker 3: feeling the love for Palmer anyway. But obviously it was
- 24:21Speaker 3: west Ham. Where's Chelsea against Fulham is going to be
- 24:24Speaker 3: a much more difficult game anyway.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Who are you thinking then that you're bringing from?
- 24:28Speaker 3: Well, there's a couple of options. Manchester United high on
- 24:31Speaker 3: the potential radar because of the fixture that they have
- 24:33Speaker 3: this weekend. So I have been looking despite what happened
- 24:38Speaker 3: on Wednesday night. Well indeed, so I was like, well
- 24:41Speaker 3: maybe I So my original thought was I won't go
- 24:44Speaker 3: for Bruno Fernandez and instead I'll go for Cunya because
- 24:46Speaker 3: I was impressed by Kunya's performance at the weekend. However,
- 24:51Speaker 3: Kunya starting in the League Cup in midweek also put
- 24:55Speaker 3: me off. And the fact that he then has to
- 24:56Speaker 3: play the full ninety minutes and it goes to me
- 24:58Speaker 3: thankfully it's not extra time anymore where it goes to
- 25:01Speaker 3: a penalty shoot out and it takes a penalty that
- 25:04Speaker 3: either misses kind of puts me off. The fact that
- 25:06Speaker 3: Mansester United just didn't look great and they had to play,
- 25:09Speaker 3: you know, bring on all the superstars in order to
- 25:12Speaker 3: try and get through against Grimsby has kind of put
- 25:14Speaker 3: me off slightly. There are other players though that I
- 25:17Speaker 3: think in that like, I could drop right down to
- 25:20Speaker 3: another six point five and it frees up four million,
- 25:24Speaker 3: and four million gets me very close to having Harlan
- 25:27Speaker 3: in my team without much change.
- 25:30Speaker 1: That's something that we can think about with this. Isn't
- 25:31Speaker 1: it distributing the funds even if you're not going to
- 25:33Speaker 1: use them this week.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Yeah, And I think that's the thing is just because
- 25:37Speaker 3: it's very easy when you're selling a premium player to
- 25:40Speaker 3: go right, I've got ten point five million, I have
- 25:42Speaker 3: to spend it, whereas actually you don't have to spend it.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Not on that position. You could. I mean, you could
- 25:48Speaker 3: take four million out and just leave it in the
- 25:49Speaker 3: bank until the week after if you wanted to, Or
- 25:52Speaker 3: you can make that four million out and use your
- 25:54Speaker 3: other sub if you have one, or even if it's
- 25:56Speaker 3: a minus four, you can redistribute that money elsewhere. I've
- 26:00Speaker 3: got two free transfers. I am looking at my team
- 26:02Speaker 3: going could mini wild card here and deal with a
- 26:04Speaker 3: load of my issues and give myself some really really
- 26:08Speaker 3: good options up front. And whereas at the moment I
- 26:10Speaker 3: hate my forward line.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Okay, so a lot of us, well, particularly myself, because
- 26:15Speaker 1: as you know, I wanted soccer earlier in pre season.
- 26:17Speaker 1: My plan was at some point I expected Palmer to
- 26:19Speaker 1: go to soccer. When I saw the injuries Palmer on
- 26:21Speaker 1: Friday night, I thought, perfect soccer will probably be brilliant
- 26:25Speaker 1: against Leeds. Get returns.
- 26:26Speaker 3: He did that.
- 26:27Speaker 1: What I didn't parking for was the injury to him.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Julian Laarron, you are an owner of soccer already, what
- 26:33Speaker 1: are you going to do?
- 26:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I think he won't be out for long and
- 26:40Speaker 4: there's international breakwhere he's not going to play for England
- 26:42Speaker 4: to rest, so I think he could well be back
- 26:44Speaker 4: after the national break. And I Palmer, I agree with
- 26:47Speaker 4: some like I said, like I would probably risk him
- 26:50Speaker 4: for this weekend, but.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Then he's not.
- 26:52Speaker 4: It's not it's not really part of the long term
- 26:54Speaker 4: plan what with Socca is so I would be very
- 26:57Speaker 4: relictant to let Socaca go. And if I had to
- 26:59Speaker 4: sell and this weekend for example, it would be parmer
- 27:02Speaker 4: and keep Socca on the bench until he comes back
- 27:05Speaker 4: after the international break, maybe not straight after, but the
- 27:07Speaker 4: game after. So he might miss one game, maybe two.
- 27:11Speaker 4: And I think that's that's okay if you have him,
- 27:13Speaker 4: and if you don't want to let him go, because
- 27:15Speaker 4: you will have to bring him back at some point
- 27:16Speaker 4: because I expect him to be good this season.
- 27:19Speaker 2: So but you can look at exactly what some said.
- 27:22Speaker 4: You know, Semnio is much cheaper obviously and has having
- 27:25Speaker 4: an amazing start of this season, for example, and you
- 27:28Speaker 4: could look at Blackpool, who we mentioned already in last
- 27:31Speaker 4: week's show, who did very well so far this season
- 27:34Speaker 4: with Liverpool. Even Dan Endoya Forest who started really well.
- 27:38Speaker 4: I think he's got nine points and seven points in
- 27:40Speaker 4: the first two game weeks, very good. Brandon Johnson, the
- 27:43Speaker 4: king of Tappins. But he's always there at the right time,
- 27:45Speaker 4: at the right place, so you know why not investing
- 27:48Speaker 4: in him too. And those players will save you a
- 27:50Speaker 4: lot of money compared to a Palmer or Socca. So
- 27:54Speaker 4: it's not like if you didn't have any options and
- 27:56Speaker 4: you thought, okay, well I have to keep them because
- 27:57Speaker 4: the rest I don't really fancy it. There's actually a
- 28:00Speaker 4: lot of really good options, whether you go to those
- 28:03Speaker 4: seven point two because so many already had two price
- 28:05Speaker 4: prises or black Boar seven six, Johnson seven and one,
- 28:08Speaker 4: or Endo six or six point five in between somewhere
- 28:12Speaker 4: or like a like.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Like Sam said, Jack Grealish.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Jack g Realish, maybe, although Radar second assist, I mean
- 28:20Speaker 2: three weeks changed.
- 28:23Speaker 1: I thought you said some that the way the sun
- 28:25Speaker 1: doesn't make the rules decided to clify it has to be.
- 28:31Speaker 3: It's going to be an assystem less. There's two defensive
- 28:34Speaker 3: touches between the ball being played.
- 28:36Speaker 1: In and the rules, it doesn't pass.
- 28:38Speaker 2: It doesn't nowhere near like an assist.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Really, So it's with Sokker just going back to him
- 28:47Speaker 3: from minute, even if he's out for two weeks, though
- 28:50Speaker 3: surely at some point in the next few weeks you're
- 28:52Speaker 3: planning to wild card, be it now or in ahead
- 28:55Speaker 3: of going week seven when like so, I guess for
- 28:59Speaker 3: a lot of people out there look at they'll look
- 29:00Speaker 3: at that and go, I just sell him now and
- 29:02Speaker 3: then I'll bring him back in again for for seven, Like,
- 29:06Speaker 3: is there not a part of you that is keeping
- 29:07Speaker 3: you ten on the bench, don't.
- 29:10Speaker 2: I think I looked at the fixtures.
- 29:11Speaker 4: You missed two really good fixtures then for psycah, unless
- 29:14Speaker 4: you played the World card a bit earlier than as
- 29:16Speaker 4: you know, I like playing in the October have ten
- 29:26Speaker 4: and and but yeah, then it's just about just managing
- 29:30Speaker 4: why he misses and why he would play if you
- 29:33Speaker 4: kept him, what he would miss and what you know
- 29:36Speaker 4: when you can bring him back, and what kind of
- 29:37Speaker 4: games it would play if you bring him back on the.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Wild card, which is which is yeah, you're right, very possible.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I just I'm just a bit reluctant.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Because it's so it's Liverpool next obviously at the weekend.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Then game week four is Nottingham Forest, who you know,
- 29:51Speaker 3: that's not an easy game, and then after that it's
- 29:54Speaker 3: Manchester City and Newcastle. So and then it changes in
- 29:57Speaker 3: seven and it's west Ham, Fulham Palace, Burnley Sunderland. So
- 30:00Speaker 3: in my head, if I had an Arsenal player, and
- 30:03Speaker 3: if I had Soccer right now, I'd be like, right, well,
- 30:05Speaker 3: if he's out for the next two, say he misses
- 30:08Speaker 3: Liverpool and Forest, and then he's back for man City
- 30:10Speaker 3: and Newcastle, I'm not that bothered about having you back
- 30:13Speaker 3: for man City and Newcastle, so I'll sell him. And
- 30:15Speaker 3: then when I hit the world card in and around
- 30:18Speaker 3: game week seven, which by the way is about is
- 30:21Speaker 3: just before the international break, then that, to me, that
- 30:26Speaker 3: feels like a sensible play. Now, I agree with what
- 30:27Speaker 3: you've said. If you've got Palmer and Soccer, you're probably
- 30:30Speaker 3: not going to sell them both this week unless you've
- 30:32Speaker 3: got two free transfers, and you only have one, right,
- 30:35Speaker 3: so that makes sense. But I think if you've got
- 30:37Speaker 3: two free transfers and you've got Soccer, I would sell
- 30:40Speaker 3: because then you can wait until he's back, and also
- 30:43Speaker 3: by the time he's back, you can make a decision
- 30:45Speaker 3: as to whether it's him or your press that you
- 30:46Speaker 3: actually want in your team.
- 30:49Speaker 1: It is considering it.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Sam.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Just so, you mentioned Grealish before Jewels went nuts again
- 30:53Speaker 1: about his assistant. Don't George, you're not allowed to speak
- 30:56Speaker 1: during the section.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Mute him.
- 30:57Speaker 1: I just wonder what your thoughts were on him, and
- 30:59Speaker 1: he's kind of that felt like his announcement to the
- 31:02Speaker 1: Everton fans.
- 31:03Speaker 3: It did massively and it felt like the Jack Grealish
- 31:06Speaker 3: of Aston Villa, Like it felt like we had the
- 31:08Speaker 3: old Greenish back where he had this kind of free
- 31:10Speaker 3: flowing swagger about him and it was really nice to see.
- 31:13Speaker 3: I think for me, I'm on jusi Behol from Everton
- 31:18Speaker 3: in and I was hoping he was going to play
- 31:20Speaker 3: in this really advanced number ten position and be on
- 31:23Speaker 3: set pieces and all of this stuff. And it's become
- 31:25Speaker 3: increasingly clear in game weeks one and two that that's
- 31:28Speaker 3: just not what's going to happen with jews Behol. And
- 31:29Speaker 3: he's also not picking up death compoints either, so ideally
- 31:33Speaker 3: he would go and one of the things I have
- 31:34Speaker 3: considered because I do like the Everton fixtures is swapping
- 31:39Speaker 3: him for Greenish because he's not that much more money.
- 31:41Speaker 3: We have that attacking threat with him, and you know,
- 31:45Speaker 3: if it's what I think, he's one of those players
- 31:48Speaker 3: where you will regularly get attacking returns out of him.
- 31:52Speaker 3: How many you get across that Everton team remains to
- 31:54Speaker 3: be seen, because it was very nervy that first sort
- 31:57Speaker 3: of twenty minutes of that game, new stadium pressure. They
- 32:01Speaker 3: wanted to be the first team to score the goal
- 32:03Speaker 3: at the Hill, Dickinson and all of that jazz. But
- 32:05Speaker 3: after that I was really impressed by Everton.
- 32:07Speaker 2: So Greedish is.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Definitely on my radar. I don't think I'll go there
- 32:10Speaker 3: right now, but in the future. He's a player that
- 32:13Speaker 3: I'm kind of thinking because with my team structure the
- 32:15Speaker 3: way that it is at the moment, I've got gee
- 32:16Speaker 3: You up top who I'm not going to play. Realistically,
- 32:19Speaker 3: He's going to sit on the bench every week, which
- 32:21Speaker 3: means I have to play the rest of my front
- 32:23Speaker 3: The rest of them have to play every single week,
- 32:26Speaker 3: and jews Bey Hall isn't a player I want to
- 32:28Speaker 3: be playing every week. So if I take some money
- 32:30Speaker 3: out of cor Palmer that would give me the money
- 32:33Speaker 3: I need to bring up jews Bey Hall to somebody
- 32:36Speaker 3: different and greedy. She is definitely on the radar for that.
- 32:39Speaker 1: You've already mentioned briefly your defenders and so who are
- 32:43Speaker 1: you thinking of defensively, just to clarify that.
- 32:46Speaker 3: So, I, very very nearly last night did eight Nori
- 32:49Speaker 3: too Minors And in the end I didn't because I
- 32:53Speaker 3: got a point when rise out of eight nor in
- 32:55Speaker 3: game week one when he performed incredibly well, so his
- 32:58Speaker 3: price truck was going to be in back to six.
- 33:00Speaker 3: I wasn't going to lose anything, so I decided to wait.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Just to clarify for for people, if they don't fully
- 33:05Speaker 1: understand the prices, it has to rise by point two
- 33:07Speaker 1: for you to gain any money when selling. Sorry, that's
- 33:09Speaker 1: just for our newer listeners.
- 33:10Speaker 2: I know we know that.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yeah, no, absolutely, So there was nothing for me to
- 33:14Speaker 3: gain or lose in his price shop last night. So
- 33:16Speaker 3: I was like, okay, well we'll let that one slide
- 33:18Speaker 3: because I value the press conference is a lot and
- 33:21Speaker 3: what the managers have got to say, don't love the
- 33:24Speaker 3: palace fixture for this weekend, but I really like the
- 33:27Speaker 3: palace fixtures that follow, so Minor's or Lacroix, one of
- 33:30Speaker 3: the two of them probably are going to come in.
- 33:32Speaker 3: The sensible part of my brain just says, just go
- 33:35Speaker 3: for Tarkovski because you're to pick up death compoints every
- 33:37Speaker 3: single know what you get in. I know what I'm
- 33:39Speaker 3: going to get. There might be some clean sheets in there,
- 33:41Speaker 3: but I'm probably going to get four every week, and
- 33:42Speaker 3: four every week actually feels quite nice, So probably one
- 33:45Speaker 3: of them. I just wanted a bit more thinking time.
- 33:48Speaker 3: The other option is I just go all in on Arsenal.
- 33:50Speaker 3: But as I just said about those fixtures, they've been
- 33:53Speaker 3: so solid so far in the opening two weeks. But
- 33:55Speaker 3: do I really see clean sheets against Liverpool and Manchester City?
- 34:00Speaker 3: Maybe not? So maybe I just wait a little bit
- 34:02Speaker 3: longer for one of those and get them in on
- 34:04Speaker 3: a wild card. But yeah, Palace or Everton probably feels
- 34:07Speaker 3: like the way I'm going to go.
- 34:09Speaker 1: And just to confirm that, because we've got so many
- 34:11Speaker 1: other headaches on our team, we're not even really going
- 34:13Speaker 1: to talk about fowards. We're all just sticking with our
- 34:15Speaker 1: forwards for now, correct Joels.
- 34:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean.
- 34:20Speaker 2: With Villa. Yeah, I don't know.
- 34:21Speaker 4: What's going on with Auston Villa. But they were terrible
- 34:24Speaker 4: again on last weekend and on game week two.
- 34:27Speaker 3: They were terrible.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Yeah, terrible.
- 34:29Speaker 4: I mean only with Kins Sex g zero point three
- 34:31Speaker 4: to seven, so it was not that bad. He clearly
- 34:33Speaker 4: could have scored but didn't. He's clearly that there's something
- 34:37Speaker 4: wrong there in that team. They're back home this weekend
- 34:40Speaker 4: against Crystal Palace. We mentioned that already at Villa Park,
- 34:43Speaker 4: a Crystal Palace team that even if they drew their
- 34:46Speaker 4: first two games against Chelsea and then Forrest at home
- 34:49Speaker 4: last weekend, I've been great. They played the committee ship.
- 34:52Speaker 4: They're super fit because they had to be very early. Yeah,
- 34:55Speaker 4: I'm not sure it's all about Villa, not just Watkins,
- 34:59Speaker 4: but also Rodgers, who you have the defense Martinez, he
- 35:04Speaker 4: was just everywhere. I think it's pretty messy.
- 35:08Speaker 2: But like my actual FBO team Johnson exactly three and two.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Haven't you sad? Yeah? I am so yeah. You're just
- 35:18Speaker 1: reminded your forwards of Watkins, Matteta and you so right,
- 35:22Speaker 1: that's right.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. And because I was on the continent the weekend,
- 35:25Speaker 3: I had the pleasure of the continent.
- 35:30Speaker 2: For twenty years.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Holidays I could watch the three o'clock game on Saturday,
- 35:34Speaker 3: so I sat and I watched Olli Watkins because he
- 35:36Speaker 3: was my captain. So I watched Spurs and I was like,
- 35:38Speaker 3: this is great. I'm having a great day. Vandervn's coming
- 35:41Speaker 3: off my bench. Spurs of one. I was very happy.
- 35:43Speaker 3: And then comes into the next game and I'm like, Okay,
- 35:47Speaker 3: Brentford and Villa Brentford were terrible last week, so surely,
- 35:51Speaker 3: surely Oli Watkins going to do well. No, no, no,
- 35:53Speaker 3: he did not. It was awful like his performance to
- 35:56Speaker 3: the point where I actually wanted to raige transfer him
- 35:58Speaker 3: out while I was watching the game. I was that annoyed.
- 36:01Speaker 3: And in the end, the other flags in my team
- 36:05Speaker 3: are going to cause me more issues and he's going
- 36:07Speaker 3: to have to stay. So that's and I think a
- 36:09Speaker 3: lot of managers are going to say that.
- 36:11Speaker 1: I agree, yeah, yeah, he doesn't have an injury, doesn't
- 36:13Speaker 1: have a suspend, therefore another day, basically exactly exactly. Okay,
- 36:18Speaker 1: Then let's move on to differential of the week. A
- 36:20Speaker 1: reminder of Differential as a player.
- 36:24Speaker 2: A good one one.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Last week. It really has been a bad week for Sam.
- 36:29Speaker 1: You went with Gakpo to assist him and two bonus
- 36:32Speaker 1: ten points double digits. Lovely SAMs.
- 36:38Speaker 3: This was another problem. It's about watching that game.
- 36:42Speaker 2: It was a great pig Sam. I mean, I'm to
- 36:44Speaker 2: move on, Sam.
- 36:44Speaker 1: I'm really trying to move him on quickly.
- 36:46Speaker 3: I appreciate you.
- 36:48Speaker 1: He's annoying me now and it wasn't even me that
- 36:49Speaker 1: a bad way.
- 36:50Speaker 2: But I will go for I don't know which one
- 36:52Speaker 2: to pick day that the one.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Yeah, he's only got one on your please of papers,
- 36:59Speaker 1: No way that.
- 36:59Speaker 2: I'm a week.
- 37:00Speaker 3: You get to go first.
- 37:01Speaker 2: You picked two, I've got two, but I will pick.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Don't go with Tower. We mentioned him already.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Because of this incredible depth points that he got despite
- 37:09Speaker 4: playing as a as a forward, because they played with
- 37:11Speaker 4: two up front.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Branford in that game against aston Villa.
- 37:14Speaker 4: Where he scored just arrived from Bournemouth for a lot
- 37:18Speaker 4: of money as well, so it was great for him.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Confidence is high and they.
- 37:23Speaker 4: He goes away at Sunderland, which were good in the
- 37:26Speaker 4: first game at home, not very good in the second
- 37:28Speaker 4: game away Burnley. But I think that could be a
- 37:31Speaker 4: good game because Sunderland will will play and I think
- 37:33Speaker 4: for Branford this is this is good to.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Go again and go back to back wins.
- 37:38Speaker 4: It's in interesting to see that he plays in that
- 37:40Speaker 4: front two and it will be the most mobile of
- 37:42Speaker 4: the of the front two as well. It costs you
- 37:45Speaker 4: six million, it is only owned by zero point seven
- 37:47Speaker 4: percent of them, so massive, massive differential in what tower
- 37:50Speaker 4: there And he got thirteen points at the weekend.
- 37:53Speaker 2: So yeah, that's my guy.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that one. He was my backup, so
- 37:58Speaker 3: that does get my first stress. It's my backup, so
- 38:01Speaker 3: that means I can have my first choice. Who is
- 38:03Speaker 3: Morgan Gibbs White? To have Morgan Rodgers again, I was like,
- 38:06Speaker 3: oh gosh, no Morgan Rodgers. We've fallen out. So but
- 38:09Speaker 3: I'm sticking with the Morgan theme and going for Gibbs
- 38:11Speaker 3: White this week. So he'll cost you seven point five million,
- 38:14Speaker 3: and he's own by five point six percent of the game,
- 38:16Speaker 3: so a little bit more than Dan goes zero point seven,
- 38:19Speaker 3: but nonetheless still a differential. He faces west Ham this
- 38:23Speaker 3: week and that's part of the reason for picking him.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Obviously gets an assisting game Week one. So far this
- 38:28Speaker 3: season has had four attempts on goal, which is the
- 38:29Speaker 3: most at Nottingham Forest level with Chris Wood. He's also
- 38:32Speaker 3: top chances created there with four and he's supplied four crosses,
- 38:36Speaker 3: of which three of them have been successful. He's also
- 38:38Speaker 3: top for expected assists at Forest and he, apart from
- 38:42Speaker 3: Chris Wood, is top four XG and XGI, so Chris
- 38:45Speaker 3: Wood just beats him in those two. But I think
- 38:48Speaker 3: Forrest are likely to score goals in this one because
- 38:51Speaker 3: we've seen that the West Ham are really struggling defensively
- 38:54Speaker 3: at the moment, so I can see a good performance
- 38:56Speaker 3: from Forrest in coming. And Gibbs White feels like somebody
- 38:59Speaker 3: that's going to be important as they're scoring goals, so
- 39:02Speaker 3: he'll be my death this week.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Okay, then let's discuss captaincy because you two did so
- 39:07Speaker 1: well last week we thought you'd asked for your expert advice.
- 39:10Speaker 1: I'm only smug because I beat you on captaincy for once.
- 39:13Speaker 3: But yeah, I should tell us who you're going to
- 39:15Speaker 3: captain because you're the expert.
- 39:18Speaker 1: It's currently on Schuel Pedro. No, I'm not going on.
- 39:20Speaker 1: It's currently on Schuel Pedro, but I don't think it
- 39:24Speaker 1: will stay there. I think it's tough because with Mosalah
- 39:27Speaker 1: having Arsenal at home, Mosala hasn't been in the best form.
- 39:31Speaker 1: He's not He's left it late in both games. Can
- 39:34Speaker 1: he do it again?
- 39:35Speaker 2: I don't.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Well, he'd never write Salah off Pedro. I'm probably been
- 39:39Speaker 1: kind of influenced by the fact that he got that
- 39:41Speaker 1: big call last weekend. They're at home. As you said,
- 39:45Speaker 1: I like the position he's playing in the absence of
- 39:46Speaker 1: Palmer as well. I think that benefits him. But also
- 39:50Speaker 1: I think it's also just I don't really have any
- 39:51Speaker 1: I don't trust my villa assets. I've got two villa attackers.
- 39:55Speaker 1: I don't want to go with Verts yet because he
- 39:57Speaker 1: hasn't done anything. Palmer's injured, I haven't done a so yeah,
- 40:00Speaker 1: and I'm not going to go Rinders. So and I'm
- 40:03Speaker 1: not going to go for markue am I. So that's
- 40:07Speaker 1: all my attack. That's the situation I'm.
- 40:09Speaker 2: In at the moment.
- 40:10Speaker 1: What are you thinking, Sam?
- 40:11Speaker 3: Some kudos at the minute. I mean, I'm in the
- 40:14Speaker 3: same position. So I look at my team and I
- 40:16Speaker 3: go I don't trust Watkins so, because he's the obvious captain,
- 40:20Speaker 3: is my most expensive bar Salomon Parmer, Matteta. I don't
- 40:25Speaker 3: have the Joo Pedgo option. I've got Matesta, who could
- 40:28Speaker 3: do really well against Villa to be fair, so he
- 40:31Speaker 3: is an option, but we haven't really seen that brilliant
- 40:34Speaker 3: Mateta yet so far this season, so it puts me
- 40:38Speaker 3: off him. Then I look at the rest of my
- 40:40Speaker 3: midfield Salah and Verts against Arsenal, I don't know how
- 40:45Speaker 3: I feel about that. Obviously, Palmer's out, so whoever comes
- 40:48Speaker 3: in for Palmer is possibly a captaincy option. If I
- 40:52Speaker 3: bring in Bruno Fernandez, which might be the transfer that
- 40:56Speaker 3: I make this week, Palmer to Bruno, then I'll be
- 40:59Speaker 3: tempted to hand him the arm band at home against
- 41:02Speaker 3: Bernley like that feels like a sensible Captaincy pick. I
- 41:07Speaker 3: suspect that Cuts will be a bit more attacking, which
- 41:10Speaker 3: is why in my team right now, I feel like
- 41:12Speaker 3: he is my best attacking asset because I'm also not
- 41:14Speaker 3: going to give it to Juds before, and I don't
- 41:16Speaker 3: really want to give it to a defender. But I
- 41:18Speaker 3: don't really love the fact that of all of my
- 41:20Speaker 3: attackers I'm going to captain my six point five million
- 41:23Speaker 3: one that seems bonkers.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Goes back to what we were saying before though, like
- 41:27Speaker 1: the likes of se Mena and that providing your points
- 41:29Speaker 1: doesn't matter about the christures are you think him?
- 41:31Speaker 2: It's on Jo Pedro for now.
- 41:34Speaker 1: I mean, I don't feel quite right though, I don't
- 41:36Speaker 1: know why you're right.
- 41:37Speaker 4: And then but then Watkins at Home to Crystal Palace
- 41:40Speaker 4: could be a good pick, but not again exactly and
- 41:42Speaker 4: not in the form that he is and his team
- 41:45Speaker 4: is at the moment, So I think I leave it
- 41:48Speaker 4: on Joe pedroal unless I bring somebody in for Palmer.
- 41:51Speaker 4: And then, like Sam just said, that could be you know,
- 41:53Speaker 4: whoever there is that could be an option as well.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Okay, so just to confirm transfers, then Sam, you're likely
- 41:58Speaker 1: to do eight orry to a Palace defender?
- 42:02Speaker 3: I think? So, I think I'm going to do eight
- 42:05Speaker 3: moons and then it's where Palmer goes. It's either going
- 42:09Speaker 3: to be Parma to Bruno Fernandez or Kunya, or it
- 42:14Speaker 3: will be Bruno Fernandez to more than Gibbs White Jews.
- 42:17Speaker 1: You're transfers or are you holding this thing?
- 42:19Speaker 2: I don't know, I really don't know.
- 42:21Speaker 4: I thought I thought, let's, you know, let's Putaka on
- 42:23Speaker 4: the bench and risk starting and then Sam just missed
- 42:27Speaker 4: my head completely. So that's why, Yeah, exactly, So maybe
- 42:31Speaker 4: Palma will go and then I keep Pacha for now
- 42:34Speaker 4: because I only have one.
- 42:34Speaker 2: For transfer anyone.
- 42:35Speaker 4: I don't want to start getting manus or even with
- 42:38Speaker 4: the MANUS four, I still have more point than some.
- 42:41Speaker 1: So over here at the moment, I'm going to enjoy
- 42:46Speaker 1: that because it won't last. Yeah, don't worry, Sam, You've
- 42:49Speaker 1: got plenty of opportunities to get you arranged throughout the season.
- 42:51Speaker 1: And the good news you can go now we've finished.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Are playing tonight. By the way, you've got friendly so quick.
- 43:02Speaker 1: I remember it's a Friday deadline. Get your teams locked
- 43:05Speaker 1: in before that. Do not miss it. The Fancy Show
- 43:07Speaker 1: is back on Friday. I'll be in the studio with
- 43:10Speaker 1: someone haven't checked. Two off the Bench I think actually
- 43:12Speaker 1: it's Oscar and Harry this week. I'm pretty sure it's
- 43:14Speaker 1: both of them. Off the bench.
- 43:15Speaker 2: You'll be back.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Sorry to them.
- 43:16Speaker 1: You're not forgettable. I'm just very forgetful off the bench.
- 43:19Speaker 1: You'll be back on Monday as Jenny and Praze takes
- 43:21Speaker 1: through all the key talking points from game week three,
- 43:24Speaker 1: and we'll be back as always next Thursday. Sam, You're free.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Bye Yay.
