- 1:54Speaker 1: we will be discussing the top takeaways from the Buffalo
- 1:58Speaker 1: Bills preseason fin nally victory in Tampa Bay against the Buccaneers,
- 2:03Speaker 1: A showing that it was much, much, much improved versus
- 2:08Speaker 1: what we saw against the Bears last week and even
- 2:10Speaker 1: what we saw against the Giants in Week one, which
- 2:13Speaker 1: makes it a more fun and nicer discussion for a
- 2:16Speaker 1: post game show. We had several real individual standouts from
- 2:20Speaker 1: a player perspective. We got some roster stuff to talk about,
- 2:24Speaker 1: So a fun episode that I think will be nice
- 2:26Speaker 1: to have on this Saturday night. As always, for those
- 2:29Speaker 1: of you watching live in the chat, questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, worries, doubts,
- 2:36Speaker 1: expectations for the fifty three man roster, wants for the
- 2:41Speaker 1: fifty three man roster, anything and everything, feel free to
- 2:44Speaker 1: put it up into the chat. Super chats will get priority,
- 2:47Speaker 1: and I will pull those up automatically because I respect
- 2:49Speaker 1: the monetary donation and because the color attracts my eyes
- 2:53Speaker 1: from my notes, but also I'd just like to make
- 2:55Speaker 1: these postgame shows, especially when I'm riding solo, as interactive
- 2:58Speaker 1: as possible. I know everybody watching always has thoughts, comments,
- 3:02Speaker 1: you know, likes, dislikes, anything and everything positive or negative.
- 3:04Speaker 1: So I feel like these are really good opportunities to
- 3:06Speaker 1: kind of bounce thoughts off on one another in the
- 3:08Speaker 1: chat or myself here. You know, whatever we got, so
- 3:11Speaker 1: let's make it as engaging as possible for all those
- 3:14Speaker 1: who wish to partake. I got several major points in takeaways.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I'm sure a lot of folks do too, but I'm
- 3:21Speaker 1: gonna start grabbing some of the comments here. Ron says
- 3:26Speaker 1: Shane Flacco. I don't know if he'm in Falco or Flacco,
- 3:28Speaker 1: but either way, I like it. With a great game tonight. Yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 1: Shane Bouchelle played really good. I labeled it, and I
- 3:35Speaker 1: feel like it doesn't sound as nice the way I
- 3:37Speaker 1: labeled it on Twitter. But just a real competent QB
- 3:40Speaker 1: play tonight. I thought he managed the offense well. He
- 3:43Speaker 1: looked in control from start to finish. He finished, he
- 3:46Speaker 1: was finding his outlets, he was making decisive throws, he
- 3:49Speaker 1: was getting through his reads and his progressions. He was
- 3:52Speaker 1: on time. He made plays when he needed to. He
- 3:55Speaker 1: changed up his cadence a little bit, showed some ability
- 3:58Speaker 1: to kind of escape and make and some athleticism. I
- 4:01Speaker 1: thought he had a really good game. I wish he
- 4:03Speaker 1: would have hit Deon Kane on that little slant fade
- 4:06Speaker 1: in the low red zone there towards the end. But
- 4:09Speaker 1: a real good game for him, you know in the
- 4:11Speaker 1: box score, and I think a game that'll speak well
- 4:13Speaker 1: to him on tape. I don't know if it's enough
- 4:14Speaker 1: to vault him into the QB two conversation as some
- 4:18Speaker 1: people kind of joked or mentioned on Twitter, but really
- 4:22Speaker 1: nice showing for him a guy that I think is
- 4:24Speaker 1: more than capable of practice squad QB and somebody who's
- 4:27Speaker 1: really liked in the room. So great performance for him,
- 4:29Speaker 1: Eric says Shavers with an exclamation point. Yes, we will
- 4:32Speaker 1: be talking about Tyrrel Shavers tonight. Absolute wild catch. Not
- 4:37Speaker 1: only even even if he didn't get his feet down,
- 4:41Speaker 1: the catch was nice, Like again catch. I'm putting catch
- 4:44Speaker 1: in quotes because you know it wasn't at It was
- 4:46Speaker 1: a catch. But even if he didn't get his feet down,
- 4:48Speaker 1: he still caught it. But it wouldn't be rule to
- 4:50Speaker 1: catch her a reception but what a catch. I mean
- 4:53Speaker 1: the he's kind of jostling with the dB, he's getting
- 4:56Speaker 1: grabbed a bit, he's grabbing the dB a bit and
- 4:59Speaker 1: then being able to reach and you see that length
- 5:03Speaker 1: and size and athleticism in the frame. All the things
- 5:06Speaker 1: that we've talked about of like why he could crack
- 5:09Speaker 1: the roster is wide receiver six or maybe even wide
- 5:11Speaker 1: receiver five. You saw a lot of it show up
- 5:13Speaker 1: on that play. And really nice catch, especially too, with
- 5:16Speaker 1: how he started out early in the game. He drops
- 5:19Speaker 1: that one early on, and then his first catch on
- 5:22Speaker 1: the broken play from Bouchelle, he even kind of like
- 5:24Speaker 1: double catches it on the sideline while getting his feet down.
- 5:28Speaker 1: But then he makes this ridiculous one handed catch, has
- 5:31Speaker 1: his right foot down as he grabs it with the
- 5:34Speaker 1: left hand, but then gets his left foot down and
- 5:36Speaker 1: the knee. It looked like just unreal grab from him,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and Yeah, an excellent opportunity tonight to make a statement
- 5:42Speaker 1: of being, you know on that fifty three man roster,
- 5:46Speaker 1: Ron says Shavers leaving no whiskers with that one handed
- 5:49Speaker 1: beauty and a perfect pass too. Yeah, good ball from
- 5:52Speaker 1: Bouschelle given his dude an opportunity to go out and
- 5:54Speaker 1: make a play, Dennis saying, please let Walker be a thing. Yeah,
- 5:58Speaker 1: Dion Walker had a couple of really nice plays tonight,
- 6:01Speaker 1: had a couple of really nice plays in week one,
- 6:03Speaker 1: and in week two had some questionable run defense moments
- 6:06Speaker 1: in week two. I'm interested to see what the tape
- 6:08Speaker 1: looks like from a run defense standpoint tonight. But I
- 6:11Speaker 1: said it Eric, and I said in the film room
- 6:13Speaker 1: last week, and I said it on Twitter tonight. If
- 6:16Speaker 1: Dion Walker can be consistent in his hand usage and
- 6:20Speaker 1: using his length to his advantage, he can be a
- 6:24Speaker 1: real problem inside that The size and athletic combination that
- 6:27Speaker 1: he has has is rare and it's fun and it's
- 6:31Speaker 1: what everybody looks at. Right. You see how big he is,
- 6:34Speaker 1: how large he is, and how he moves, and it's
- 6:36Speaker 1: like wow, like look how nimble or look how athletic.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And he wins a lot with that. He wins with quickness,
- 6:41Speaker 1: He wins with athleticism despite being huge. He is not,
- 6:43Speaker 1: you know, a plugger. He is a penetrator. But what
- 6:48Speaker 1: will be best for his career trajectory in the short, intermediate,
- 6:52Speaker 1: and long term is if he can you know, operate
- 6:55Speaker 1: with consistent hand usage and play to his length, and
- 6:58Speaker 1: he did that on several reps tonight, which is really
- 7:00Speaker 1: nice to see. I think that'll help him as both
- 7:02Speaker 1: a rusher and as a run defender, not letting guys
- 7:06Speaker 1: get into his body, being able to kind of stack
- 7:08Speaker 1: or shock and shed and get through. We saw a
- 7:11Speaker 1: real nice play like that on the you know, the
- 7:14Speaker 1: botch snap for the bucks. But even screw the box
- 7:17Speaker 1: snap like put that aside, Walker still made a great
- 7:19Speaker 1: play regardless and being able to play with a little
- 7:22Speaker 1: bit more leverage, using his hands, using his length, not
- 7:25Speaker 1: letting guys get into his body, get under him, which
- 7:28Speaker 1: is helpful for him. Considering how tall he is, it's
- 7:31Speaker 1: easy for guys to get under him, and if they
- 7:32Speaker 1: get under him with how you know, they talked about
- 7:36Speaker 1: it on the broadcast. You know, he's he's a bear
- 7:38Speaker 1: with you know, a ballerina base or whatever, ballerina legs
- 7:41Speaker 1: whatever they called it. Like that's fun. But also that
- 7:44Speaker 1: doesn't really lend itself to a guy being an anchor
- 7:46Speaker 1: against the run. He cannot let people get under him
- 7:48Speaker 1: and get him upright, so using his hands and his
- 7:50Speaker 1: length more like he did in Spurts tonight really impressive showing.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Oh this is ironic too, long held Thoughts says, when
- 7:56Speaker 1: they talk about Walker being a bear ballerina, and think
- 7:59Speaker 1: of the clip of Homerson centerion on the bear of
- 8:01Speaker 1: the cart, that's funny. Yeah whatever that verbiage was, Yeah,
- 8:04Speaker 1: the bear with the baller of legs or whatever. Kay
- 8:06Speaker 1: Morrey says, Yay, we don't need to talk about firing
- 8:08Speaker 1: anybody today. Yeah, it was dark last week. There was
- 8:11Speaker 1: a couple of people in the YouTube comments, not the
- 8:13Speaker 1: live chat, but the post comments on YouTube after saying that, like,
- 8:16Speaker 1: without Josh Allen, this is the worst roster in all
- 8:19Speaker 1: the football and the Bills are terrible, Like it was.
- 8:21Speaker 1: It was a dark place last week after the Bears lost,
- 8:23Speaker 1: or after the Bills lost to the Bears, which is understandable.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I get it. They look terrible. Nobody likes that. Gordon says,
- 8:28Speaker 1: hit the like friends, Yes, be like Gordon. If you
- 8:31Speaker 1: are here watching live, or even if you're not watching live,
- 8:33Speaker 1: please please please and make you drop a mike on
- 8:35Speaker 1: this video. Like so the lifeblood of these live streams
- 8:38Speaker 1: here on YouTube, So please drop a like, subscribe to
- 8:42Speaker 1: the channel, turn on notifications, Rate Review, subscribe anywhere and
- 8:45Speaker 1: everywhere you are watching all that kind of stuff. It
- 8:48Speaker 1: may seem small or minuscule or meaningless, but it actually
- 8:50Speaker 1: does sincerely go along ways and mean a lot for us.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Opera says, Jimmy Charlow seems like the perfect depth linebacker
- 8:58Speaker 1: for this defense. I also liked that his names sounds
- 9:00Speaker 1: like a cool, like mob hitman, Like not like not
- 9:03Speaker 1: the top Like it's not the Charlo family. He's not
- 9:05Speaker 1: like an underboss or like top tier. But I feel
- 9:07Speaker 1: like just a hit man that like other families talk about,
- 9:13Speaker 1: or like other gangs talk about, like oh I heard
- 9:16Speaker 1: they're sending like Jimmy Charlo downtown like all Charlo. Like
- 9:19Speaker 1: just it sounds like a cool Italian assassin name that
- 9:22Speaker 1: makes me like me more. But yeah, he's played well
- 9:24Speaker 1: in Spurts, some good special teams action for him in
- 9:28Speaker 1: camp in the preseason, and then a couple of nice
- 9:31Speaker 1: plays on defense throughout the preseason as well, So I'm
- 9:33Speaker 1: interested to see what happens with him. John says, am
- 9:36Speaker 1: I crazy for wanting to keep all three of more
- 9:39Speaker 1: Shavers and Hammler and launch Samuel into the sun. I
- 9:42Speaker 1: don't think you're crazy. I think this is actually a
- 9:44Speaker 1: common sentiment. I think the biggest thing keeping Curtis Samuel
- 9:48Speaker 1: here is the contract and the dead cap that comes
- 9:53Speaker 1: with it. And again, just in case those who don't know,
- 9:57Speaker 1: if they were going to a spot track right now,
- 10:01Speaker 1: if it lets me so, we are post June first.
- 10:05Speaker 1: So if they were to release Curtis Samuel straight up,
- 10:09Speaker 1: they would have a dead cap hit of eight point
- 10:11Speaker 1: seven million this year and then three point four to
- 10:14Speaker 1: five million next year. If they were to find a
- 10:16Speaker 1: trade partner for him, they would only have a dead
- 10:20Speaker 1: cap of one point eight million this year and then
- 10:22Speaker 1: the three point four to five million next year, but
- 10:25Speaker 1: they would save seven point two million in cap savings
- 10:29Speaker 1: this offseason. And then Curtis Samuel also carries with him
- 10:33Speaker 1: a cap hit of nine point zero six five million
- 10:37Speaker 1: this year. It's gonna be tough to get Samuel off
- 10:40Speaker 1: the roster because I don't see them releasing him because
- 10:42Speaker 1: of the cap and because of the hit, and I
- 10:45Speaker 1: don't see someone trading for him because he's injured and
- 10:49Speaker 1: his stock isn't high right now, and because of what
- 10:51Speaker 1: they're gonna have to pay him. Like even if I
- 10:53Speaker 1: think it's even tough to see someone being like, yeah,
- 10:56Speaker 1: we'll give you a seventh or a sixth. I guess
- 10:58Speaker 1: it could happen if someone really values him, or depending
- 11:01Speaker 1: how injured he really maybe is. But I don't think
- 11:04Speaker 1: this is a crazy notion in just because we haven't
- 11:06Speaker 1: seen Curtis Samuel really at all this offseason in any way,
- 11:10Speaker 1: shape or form. For the most part, he played a
- 11:12Speaker 1: little bit, then he got banged up and just hasn't
- 11:15Speaker 1: been a huge factor in camp or the preseason. And
- 11:17Speaker 1: then we know he looked great to start camp last year,
- 11:21Speaker 1: got hurt coming out of it, and into the preseason,
- 11:24Speaker 1: played the first what I don't know, eleven twelve weeks,
- 11:27Speaker 1: like hurt, got healthy as the year went on. I
- 11:29Speaker 1: thought he played. I thought he looked really good against
- 11:32Speaker 1: Kansas City. Also, I guess you know, he started to
- 11:34Speaker 1: heal up around maybe week nine or ten whenever that
- 11:36Speaker 1: game against Kansas City was in the regular season, and
- 11:38Speaker 1: then he played well down the stretch, the healthier he got.
- 11:40Speaker 1: But at this point, it just you know, the best
- 11:43Speaker 1: ability is availability. He doesn't really have it. You have
- 11:46Speaker 1: other guys who have proven some usefulness and functionality within
- 11:49Speaker 1: the wide receiver room, I don't think it's crazy. I
- 11:54Speaker 1: don't think it's crazy to want all of these guys
- 11:57Speaker 1: over Samuel. I think Hammler could be a bit of
- 12:00Speaker 1: a push, but he's got some real long speed, maybe
- 12:02Speaker 1: some returner value, depending on what you want to do
- 12:04Speaker 1: with the return room. I don't think it's crazy to
- 12:07Speaker 1: want to launch Samuel into the sun. Having everybody ahead
- 12:10Speaker 1: of him. I think could be another conversation, but I
- 12:11Speaker 1: think a lot of folks are in the kind of
- 12:14Speaker 1: launch Samuel into the Sun category, especially if they could
- 12:17Speaker 1: find the right trade partner. I'm gonna keep going back
- 12:19Speaker 1: to the chat, but I see super chat, so I
- 12:23Speaker 1: have to go back. Comment here from Jake, thank you
- 12:25Speaker 1: very much for being here. Jake, thank you for the
- 12:27Speaker 1: super chat. And Jake says, anybody trying to judge the
- 12:30Speaker 1: upcoming season based off of preseason doesn't understand football. Yeah.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I kind of made a joke early on in this
- 12:37Speaker 1: game when the Bills went up seven nothing, that I said, like, oh,
- 12:39Speaker 1: you know, Bills are up seven nothing. I guess the
- 12:41Speaker 1: Super Bowl windows back open, I was. It's it's one
- 12:45Speaker 1: thing to be disappointed in a team's performance, it's another. Actually,
- 12:51Speaker 1: no positively or negatively. It's one thing to get excited
- 12:53Speaker 1: or disappointed about a team's performance in the preseason. It's
- 12:56Speaker 1: another to take that and project it onto what they're
- 12:59Speaker 1: going to be for the regular season. Even if the
- 13:01Speaker 1: starters were playing in the preseason, they're still not really
- 13:04Speaker 1: gonna show their hand of who and what they're going
- 13:06Speaker 1: to be in the season. So that's a huge variable.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And on top of the fact that we haven't really
- 13:11Speaker 1: seen the Bills starters this preseason, so a lot of
- 13:14Speaker 1: these points are moved. My biggest takeaways for the preseason
- 13:17Speaker 1: have been more individual focused, especially for guys, you know,
- 13:21Speaker 1: for rookies that we expect to kind of see meaningful
- 13:24Speaker 1: snaps like t J. Sanders, like Dion Walker, like Landon Jackson,
- 13:29Speaker 1: like maybe Jordan Hancock potentially, or then second year guys
- 13:32Speaker 1: like Javon Solomon, Dwayne Carter, guys who you're trying to see,
- 13:35Speaker 1: you know, Joe Andrees and guys who are trying to
- 13:37Speaker 1: carve out a role. Some of the wide receivers as well.
- 13:40Speaker 1: But yeah, there's I was I knew people would would
- 13:44Speaker 1: be upset with the loss last week. I wasn't ready
- 13:46Speaker 1: for people to use it as an indictment on the
- 13:49Speaker 1: Bills being a horrible roster and how they've been built
- 13:52Speaker 1: and fire Sean McDermott because he didn't get the team
- 13:55Speaker 1: ready to play for a preseason game. I thought that
- 13:59Speaker 1: was a bit extreme, but again, emotions are emotions. I
- 14:02Speaker 1: understand him. I'm gonna keep running through. Just the tippy canoe, fantastic.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Use your name is always, thank you for being here,
- 14:08Speaker 1: thank you for the super chat. The comment is I
- 14:10Speaker 1: want Shavers to ball out in a regular season game
- 14:14Speaker 1: just to make a dumb phrase like Shavers giving people
- 14:17Speaker 1: trimmers or something like that. I like it. I like it.
- 14:21Speaker 1: He's got a lot of fun you know, word potential
- 14:23Speaker 1: in his name. I like it. Patten says, hey, the
- 14:27Speaker 1: Bills finally won a game I was at with an
- 14:29Speaker 1: exclamation point. The curse is lifted. This is our year.
- 14:33Speaker 1: But will it be enough to move Tremaine to Edge.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I respect and appreciate your commitment to the tremain Edgeman's
- 14:42Speaker 1: bit so much and the move Tremain to Edge. I
- 14:47Speaker 1: don't have anything else to say. Well done. I applaud you,
- 14:49Speaker 1: and I hope you had a good time at the
- 14:50Speaker 1: game tonight. I hope it wasn't too humid after just
- 14:53Speaker 1: regular Tampa Bay heat plus all the rain that came through. Yeah,
- 14:57Speaker 1: glad he had a good time, and the glad the
- 14:58Speaker 1: Bills won for you break the curse. That means you
- 15:00Speaker 1: can attend more games going forward. That's a good spot.
- 15:04Speaker 1: All right, let's go back to mm mmmm. Claude says
- 15:09Speaker 1: Shavers is now a lock. That's fair com in here,
- 15:13Speaker 1: saying twenty likes, ninety four watching hit the like. Yeah,
- 15:16Speaker 1: we're up more now we're well into the hundreds now
- 15:18Speaker 1: for live watchers, let's get more likes. Please, thank you,
- 15:21Speaker 1: appreciate you folks. Lou, what's up? Litl Loo says, superb
- 15:24Speaker 1: body control from Shavers, things you love to see. I
- 15:27Speaker 1: don't know how you keep him off the roster. I
- 15:30Speaker 1: think that is a very fair sentiment. Lou also says
- 15:32Speaker 1: if Walker can learn to hold up against the double
- 15:35Speaker 1: teams consistently, oh man, I am excited. I share that
- 15:39Speaker 1: with you. I think that's going to be a very
- 15:42Speaker 1: much more of a long term work in progress, but
- 15:45Speaker 1: we'll see. Claude says, if Dan Walker is just the
- 15:48Speaker 1: past rusher he appears he can be, he'll be what
- 15:51Speaker 1: the Bills never get in the playoffs someone who can
- 15:53Speaker 1: move the QB off their spot. I think they get
- 15:56Speaker 1: guys that can move the QB off the spot, they
- 15:58Speaker 1: have a problem wrangling them once they get them off
- 16:00Speaker 1: the spot. I think they struggle in both. I think
- 16:02Speaker 1: they struggle to get pressure and then struggle to get home.
- 16:04Speaker 1: But I understand your sentiment and I appreciate you for it.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Oh comment here, did Shane send just send Mike packing? Ah?
- 16:13Speaker 1: I don't know, but Bouchelle played well. Bouschelle played well,
- 16:18Speaker 1: which is good to see. Let's see oh Ron says,
- 16:23Speaker 1: I think Bean tries to trade Elijah Moore, so there's
- 16:26Speaker 1: room for shavers could be potentially Andrew says, do you
- 16:30Speaker 1: think Dane playing so long bodes well for Trey's health?
- 16:33Speaker 1: If not Dane who starts at CB two on week one?
- 16:36Speaker 1: I saw the reports before the game. If those of
- 16:38Speaker 1: you didn't, what I'm about to say might be news
- 16:41Speaker 1: to you like Dane. So essentially there's no timetable for
- 16:45Speaker 1: Trey White's return, which puts the CB two position in
- 16:51Speaker 1: a real state of flux. And to go off of
- 16:53Speaker 1: Andrew's comment here, you know Dane playing so long, I
- 16:57Speaker 1: think it could. You could take it one of two
- 16:59Speaker 1: ways or both. It could either bode well for Trey's
- 17:02Speaker 1: health or it's just boding not so well for Dame
- 17:07Speaker 1: Jackson making the roster, being an impactful player on the roster.
- 17:11Speaker 1: If not Dane, I would like JaMarcus Ingram at CB two.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I think I would like JaMarcus Ingram in general, his physicality,
- 17:18Speaker 1: his tenaciousness, the way he plays the run, especially against Baltimore,
- 17:22Speaker 1: like knowing what you're gonna get against the Ravens where
- 17:24Speaker 1: you've got to bring your hat against the run, and
- 17:27Speaker 1: that is everybody knowing that my two corners on the
- 17:30Speaker 1: outside would be Benford and JaMarcus Ingram. I would feel
- 17:33Speaker 1: very good playing the run in a variety of fashions. Now,
- 17:38Speaker 1: you're gonna have some coverage issues, but I think you're
- 17:40Speaker 1: gonna have that regardless of who you put in. I
- 17:42Speaker 1: don't think Dorian Strong is ready, especially from a run
- 17:46Speaker 1: defense standpoint. He's been real shaky and poor. I would
- 17:50Speaker 1: even say in fitting the run that goes back into
- 17:52Speaker 1: camp and into the scrimmage and then into the preseason.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Just his fits have not been there, and I worry
- 18:01Speaker 1: about that in general, but especially against a team like Baltimore,
- 18:04Speaker 1: let alone some of the coverage pieces. So yeah, my
- 18:06Speaker 1: vote would be for JaMarcus Ingram starting at CB two
- 18:09Speaker 1: in Week one, even if Dane was Golden. I don't
- 18:14Speaker 1: mind Dane starting just because of the high floor, but
- 18:16Speaker 1: I don't like that. I would prefer to go with
- 18:17Speaker 1: JaMarcus Ingram, especially against the team like the Ravens. Who
- 18:21Speaker 1: are you know they're going to try and run the ball.
- 18:23Speaker 1: You know you're gonna be deficient or vulnerable in some
- 18:26Speaker 1: way because you're not healthy at that spot. You know,
- 18:29Speaker 1: with two of your top three corners are out, there's
- 18:32Speaker 1: gonna be some give and take, and I'd rather take
- 18:34Speaker 1: the known quantity of this. You know, Jamarkus zing can
- 18:36Speaker 1: play the run really well. He's going to compete and
- 18:39Speaker 1: be an absolute dog like. I hate using that phrase,
- 18:42Speaker 1: but it applies to him. I would go for JaMarcus Ingram.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Let's see what else. We got a lot of comments
- 18:51Speaker 1: coming through as I figure there kind of would be
- 18:56Speaker 1: Ah Gordon, this is the fair point with Curtis Samuel.
- 18:59Speaker 1: I could see being having someone a sixth or a
- 19:01Speaker 1: seventh to take Curtis Samuel's contract. I think that's fair.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Pete says, you could give a draft pick up for
- 19:06Speaker 1: someone to take Samuel if they're really down on him
- 19:08Speaker 1: and up on others. Exchanging draft capital for cap space
- 19:11Speaker 1: doesn't seem to be a bean move. I think it's fair.
- 19:13Speaker 1: There's a lot Again, there's a lot of finagling you
- 19:16Speaker 1: can do, even if it's just like if Samuel is
- 19:18Speaker 1: hurt and you stash him, you know, on the IR
- 19:21Speaker 1: until week six or whatever. Like, there's a lot of
- 19:23Speaker 1: gamesmanship financially and roster wise that they can engage in.
- 19:27Speaker 1: So we'll kind of see. This is a good comment
- 19:29Speaker 1: from Ryan. Ryan said, Zach Davison look like a real
- 19:31Speaker 1: NFL putter. Yeah he did. He punted well, I was
- 19:35Speaker 1: I didn't know, like, Okay, he'll get some distance, but
- 19:37Speaker 1: it'll be a line drive or he'll get some arc
- 19:40Speaker 1: but it'll be short. He had good punts. It was well,
- 19:43Speaker 1: he did good. He did good. Oh this comment is
- 19:48Speaker 1: this I'm assuming this comment here is Davis or Shavers.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I'm assuming it's Gabe Davis or Tyrrell Shavers. Honestly Shavers
- 19:57Speaker 1: because that catch tonight was awesome, but logically probably gave it.
- 20:02Speaker 1: But I'll say Tyrrol shavers why not? Sterling says quite
- 20:05Speaker 1: excited about Walker. In all honesty, I think it's fair.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Jason says, I'm on team Launch into the Sun for
- 20:12Speaker 1: Curtis Samuel. That's fair, that's fair. Kyle says Bouchelle the
- 20:21Speaker 1: pr the practice squad QB over Mike White. I'm not
- 20:24Speaker 1: ready to put him over Mike White. I kind of
- 20:26Speaker 1: even would even like Mike White as QB two. But
- 20:29Speaker 1: we'll see. Oh. Patten says the weather was great driving
- 20:33Speaker 1: driving now I'll be lurking. Yes, don't comment, just watch.
- 20:36Speaker 1: I appreciate you listening and or watching while you're in
- 20:38Speaker 1: the car. Think you very much appreciate you. Nice from Keith,
- 20:42Speaker 1: he says to someone, say fire mcderbott by God, that's
- 20:44Speaker 1: Kamry's music. I like that. Nice. Nice. There was a
- 20:47Speaker 1: comment back here. Tristan says Channault has looked good with
- 20:51Speaker 1: kickoffs all pre season. Do we actually need to rosters
- 20:54Speaker 1: cool ring Tone just four punt returns. I'd rather have
- 20:57Speaker 1: the extra receiver versus the cbe that you never want
- 21:00Speaker 1: to actually play, Yeah, I don't. I've talked about it
- 21:05Speaker 1: going back even before the preseason started. Like having Condrington
- 21:08Speaker 1: as the returner. He's he's just a returner, as you
- 21:11Speaker 1: alluded to here, Like he's not okay CB four or five, Okay,
- 21:15Speaker 1: he's not RB three or wide receiver four. He's purely
- 21:19Speaker 1: just a returner. And I don't know if the value
- 21:22Speaker 1: is there. My thought though with Channault is is he
- 21:28Speaker 1: actually going to contribute even though he might be like
- 21:30Speaker 1: wide receiver six or seven, however kind of you know
- 21:33Speaker 1: you keep, how many you keep, or however it gets defined,
- 21:36Speaker 1: is he actually going to see wide receiver snaps. I
- 21:38Speaker 1: don't think he's actually going to contribute meaningfully there, even
- 21:41Speaker 1: if he's just a warm body. So it's still kind
- 21:43Speaker 1: of a like for like, my my comparison here will
- 21:46Speaker 1: be more of like, do you not keep Codrington and
- 21:49Speaker 1: then you have Ty Johnson as your kick returner and
- 21:52Speaker 1: Khalil Shakiir is your punt returner or something like that.
- 21:55Speaker 1: That way you're kind of double dipping for positional value
- 21:58Speaker 1: or roster value in flexibility, I would say in that regard,
- 22:01Speaker 1: My thing with Channault, yeah, is just I don't see him.
- 22:04Speaker 1: He might be like a wide receiver on the depth drop,
- 22:06Speaker 1: but he's not actually gonna really see any snaps. And
- 22:08Speaker 1: if that's the case, if it's between Channault and Codrington,
- 22:11Speaker 1: although Chanaltas looked he looked good tonight. Returning kicks, I
- 22:14Speaker 1: feel like it's kind of six and one half a
- 22:16Speaker 1: dozen of the other. And either way it's a similar
- 22:18Speaker 1: thing because you're getting a guy who's not really gonna
- 22:19Speaker 1: see position snaps. It is more purely returner based. Hmmm.
- 22:26Speaker 1: James says, the turk is coming. Be prepared to emotionally,
- 22:29Speaker 1: be prepared emotionally for your favorite player to be cut.
- 22:32Speaker 1: It's gonna be tough. Ah good coming here from Nick.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Nick says Shaver's release packages have been very nice this preseason.
- 22:38Speaker 1: You know, there's not a lot of fluff to him.
- 22:39Speaker 1: They're just very efficient. It's usually you know, he's trying
- 22:42Speaker 1: to attack the cushion, it's just one step and he
- 22:45Speaker 1: goes inside outside release. He's got long strides, he's got length.
- 22:50Speaker 1: You know, he has had some nice moments and he's
- 22:52Speaker 1: he once he gets to be it, once he can
- 22:53Speaker 1: stride it out. After that release he seems to just
- 22:57Speaker 1: be able to you know, not get things or just
- 23:01Speaker 1: be able to run by guys. OKAYV says does Jimmy
- 23:04Speaker 1: Charlie make the fifty three. I got to review the
- 23:05Speaker 1: snaps for tonight. I think there's a chance he could
- 23:08Speaker 1: make it as the fifth linebacker, especially because we know
- 23:10Speaker 1: that they will pick guys just for special teams and
- 23:13Speaker 1: he's played well in special teams. Keith says, a tough
- 23:20Speaker 1: night for Hardy and Garage the O line. The old
- 23:25Speaker 1: line has been kind of a mess. Guys have been
- 23:28Speaker 1: just beginning to beat a ton in the preseason. I
- 23:30Speaker 1: really haven't liked much from the old line. Kendrick Green
- 23:32Speaker 1: had a couple of nice reps throughout the preseason, but
- 23:35Speaker 1: it's been rough without Alec Anderson, without Grable, without SVPG. Yeah,
- 23:42Speaker 1: it's been kind of a hodgepodge. Ryan Vandermark has been
- 23:45Speaker 1: like the best lineman they've trotted out, and he's gotten
- 23:47Speaker 1: beat a bunch, which is a little scary and worrisome,
- 23:50Speaker 1: so not great. Steve says, what's your tight end ranking
- 23:54Speaker 1: Knox and Kincaid and then Spencer Hawes, and I think
- 23:58Speaker 1: those are the only tight ends that will matter. I
- 24:00Speaker 1: like what Lot two has done. I like someone what
- 24:02Speaker 1: Davidson has done. I would take either or both on
- 24:05Speaker 1: the practice squad, but I think three will make the roster,
- 24:07Speaker 1: and I think that third is Hawes, frank or Junior.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I love Frank or Junior. He just seems to make
- 24:12Speaker 1: positive plays all the time when he gets the ball.
- 24:15Speaker 1: I would like to see him get an opportunity against
- 24:17Speaker 1: some ones or some twos. I think he's a practice
- 24:20Speaker 1: squad guy, maybe gets scooped up from someone else by
- 24:23Speaker 1: someone else. I should say he's not going to crack
- 24:24Speaker 1: the top three. He's not getting ahead of Tie Johnson,
- 24:27Speaker 1: he's not getting ahead of Ray Davis, not getting ahead
- 24:29Speaker 1: of James Cook. I don't think they're going to keep
- 24:30Speaker 1: four running backs, but I would like them to keep
- 24:33Speaker 1: him on the practice squad. I think he's he's just
- 24:35Speaker 1: a really effective and efficient guy. I could see him
- 24:37Speaker 1: being the type of dude that gets an opportunity somewhere
- 24:39Speaker 1: and becomes like a real quality number two back. He's
- 24:42Speaker 1: also good in past protection in terms of like effectiveness
- 24:44Speaker 1: and being able to read and process. So yeah, Goyles
- 24:49Speaker 1: is really Glad McDermott. Stop trying codrintonnet c B. I
- 24:52Speaker 1: think he's trying him out to He was trying him
- 24:54Speaker 1: out to try and see what he could be in
- 24:57Speaker 1: that light to see his like, Okay, is he just
- 24:59Speaker 1: a return or can he be the backup nickel? Can
- 25:02Speaker 1: he be the third nickel? Can he be a real corner?
- 25:04Speaker 1: Like what do we get? Or is he just returner?
- 25:07Speaker 1: Silo only? So I understand him trying him out? Yeah?
- 25:15Speaker 1: Cod ringtone? Yeah, isn't the lead type? Was it cod
- 25:17Speaker 1: ringtone or cool? I thought it was? Did I read
- 25:19Speaker 1: it too fast?
- 25:19Speaker 2: Oh?
- 25:19Speaker 1: It was cod ringtone? I thought it was cool ringtone.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I read it fast. Yeah, cod ringtone is an amazing
- 25:24Speaker 1: typo for codrenchonna. I knew it was a typo, but
- 25:27Speaker 1: I read it fast and thought it was cool ringtone.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I like it. I'm here saying the bill's ravens AFC
- 25:33Speaker 1: Championship preview mark my word could happen? Oh? Coming here
- 25:37Speaker 1: from Sam Man saying Parsons deal coming, Curtis Samuel, a
- 25:40Speaker 1: couple of players and a couple of draft picks. I
- 25:41Speaker 1: don't know if Curtis Samuel is going to be a
- 25:43Speaker 1: piece that's gonna go back or how much of a
- 25:45Speaker 1: focal point that would be. I don't I'm not gonna
- 25:49Speaker 1: say anything. I'm not gonna jinx anything. I think it
- 25:50Speaker 1: would be tough for them to get Parsons. But we
- 25:52Speaker 1: could see m Ah John talking about cold Good. I'm
- 26:00Speaker 1: hopefully he's ready to cement himself alongside Rap. We will
- 26:02Speaker 1: be talking about Cole Bishop as we continue to go through. Again,
- 26:05Speaker 1: I have my points, but I wanted to get through
- 26:07Speaker 1: a lot of the checks and everybody'd be firing stuff
- 26:09Speaker 1: off because the game just ended, Ron said, Chase Lunt
- 26:13Speaker 1: looks like he had a good night. Yeah. I always
- 26:15Speaker 1: wait until I can see the tape to really judge
- 26:18Speaker 1: the trenches fully. But I didn't notice anything too bad
- 26:21Speaker 1: from the offensive line in general, like I did on
- 26:24Speaker 1: broadcast the first couple of games. Lou says, Jackson Hawes,
- 26:32Speaker 1: Did I say Spencer? Did I say Spencer Hawes? I
- 26:34Speaker 1: didn't even hear myself say it. I you know what's
- 26:36Speaker 1: funny is I typed earlier there was a tweet I
- 26:39Speaker 1: put out when I had a post on Blue Skyway
- 26:42Speaker 1: because I post both equally, but the little like dump
- 26:46Speaker 1: dump off or screen to Jackson Hawes, and then he
- 26:48Speaker 1: cut back and he broke the safety's ankles, and I
- 26:51Speaker 1: typed Spencer and deleted it and wrote Jackson and yeah,
- 26:54Speaker 1: Lou says, you sure did, Yeah, I yeah. Claude comes
- 26:59Speaker 1: in and says, we all poor Jackson Hawes Spencer without
- 27:01Speaker 1: even thinking about it, didn't know so many of us
- 27:03Speaker 1: were Sacramento Kings fans. Or is because he lines up
- 27:06Speaker 1: to Spencer Brown. For me, it's one thousand percent to
- 27:09Speaker 1: Spencer Hawes basketball related, it's one thousand percent. I've never heard,
- 27:13Speaker 1: really anybody have the last name of Hawes, and the
- 27:17Speaker 1: only other time I've heard it is Jackson Hawes and
- 27:20Speaker 1: Spencer Hawes. And Spencer Hawes is just into my brain.
- 27:24Speaker 1: And then because also to like, the names are both
- 27:26Speaker 1: two syllables, like Spencer Jackson, which I feel like that
- 27:29Speaker 1: makes it even easier just to associate the two. Yeah,
- 27:34Speaker 1: I didn't even I could call Lou. I didn't even
- 27:37Speaker 1: realize I said Spencer. I didn't even notice it. Usually
- 27:39Speaker 1: I catch it, I'll say it, and I'll catch it.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I didn't even come close. Didn't even come close. Andy says,
- 27:47Speaker 1: Shavers makes this team or we riot, let's talk about
- 27:52Speaker 1: I don't know who to lead off with. I'll I
- 27:54Speaker 1: would go in order of who flashed first. I want
- 27:56Speaker 1: to start off with cool Bishop. This is one of
- 27:58Speaker 1: my bigger position groups to watch. I've talked about it
- 28:02Speaker 1: so much this offseason about Bishops fit in the defense,
- 28:06Speaker 1: Raps fit in the defense, there fits individually, there fits
- 28:10Speaker 1: as a tandem, and why I don't like it. What
- 28:12Speaker 1: I think the overlap is why both guys are fine
- 28:15Speaker 1: in a vacuum, Bishops fit trajectory, all that kind of stuff.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I like this. Kay moy says, oh is to just
- 28:21Speaker 1: legally change his name to a comedy for all the
- 28:23Speaker 1: Bill's content creators who mess his name up. Yeah, I
- 28:26Speaker 1: have to fight to not say Spencer. I didn't even
- 28:29Speaker 1: realize I said it earlier. I'm so annoyed could catch
- 28:31Speaker 1: Lou and everybody else in the comments appreciate you. Yeah,
- 28:34Speaker 1: I I think Bishop can be fine. Like I've said
- 28:40Speaker 1: again the abridged version, I don't want to repeat it
- 28:42Speaker 1: again because I've said it so much on the show.
- 28:44Speaker 1: I thought he would be better in a defense that
- 28:46Speaker 1: played more three safety looks, or would allow him to
- 28:48Speaker 1: be more of a big nickel or an apex type
- 28:50Speaker 1: of player, where he could live around the line of
- 28:53Speaker 1: scrimmage and around the box as much as possible. He
- 28:56Speaker 1: still can do that in the Bill system. As you
- 28:58Speaker 1: know as a down safety, but that limits the coverages
- 29:02Speaker 1: you can play on the back end if you're primarily
- 29:04Speaker 1: playing single high, or even if you're trying to disguise
- 29:06Speaker 1: and then you're getting back to too high right on
- 29:08Speaker 1: the snap, your coverage rotations, your spins, what you can
- 29:11Speaker 1: do just being in the right position, getting your depth,
- 29:14Speaker 1: getting your drops, having the right spatial awareness, all of that,
- 29:17Speaker 1: but then even more so on top of that that
- 29:20Speaker 1: his running mate is Taylor Rapp, who is not ideally
- 29:23Speaker 1: suited to play as a single high safety because he
- 29:25Speaker 1: does not have the ranch. He has the processing, yes,
- 29:28Speaker 1: but he doesn't really have the range athleticism. Bishop has
- 29:30Speaker 1: the range and athleticism to play single high as a
- 29:33Speaker 1: post safety, but he doesn't really have the processing and
- 29:35Speaker 1: the reading of the game yet, but he could at
- 29:37Speaker 1: some point. Rap is better in and around the box
- 29:40Speaker 1: and the line of scrimmage just like Bishop is, but
- 29:42Speaker 1: Bishop is more athletic and is better suited demand up
- 29:44Speaker 1: against tight ends and running backs. That is the short
- 29:46Speaker 1: abridged version. You essentially have two guys who are better
- 29:49Speaker 1: as box safeties, which limits the type of coverages you
- 29:53Speaker 1: can play, or not that you can play. That you
- 29:57Speaker 1: want to play and use regularly, which means teams can
- 30:00Speaker 1: attack you in certain ways. And then you couple that
- 30:03Speaker 1: with how they fit the run, needing to gap out,
- 30:06Speaker 1: which is part of why they played more single high
- 30:08Speaker 1: last year. At times you don't have a guy who's
- 30:11Speaker 1: either suited for the post, so on and so forth.
- 30:13Speaker 1: All of these things has been why I've had a
- 30:16Speaker 1: lot of consternation about the safety position. Cold Bishop look
- 30:19Speaker 1: good tonight. I think no coincidence. The first two plays,
- 30:23Speaker 1: I mean he really flashes. I think like the first
- 30:25Speaker 1: three or four plays right in the game. The Bills
- 30:27Speaker 1: blitz right on the first play, Dorian Strong gets called
- 30:30Speaker 1: for holding. Bishop beats the left tackle around, forces the
- 30:35Speaker 1: QB to step up into some pressure. QB throws the ball.
- 30:38Speaker 1: It was incomplete on Dan Jackson, but Dorian Strong got
- 30:40Speaker 1: called for holding, so we get a nice blitz and
- 30:42Speaker 1: a pressure on Cole Bishop. He gets the QB office spot.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Second play, Bishop is in the box again pre snap,
- 30:48Speaker 1: the Bucks run the ball. Bishop triggers fits the run,
- 30:52Speaker 1: helps make a nice stop, and then we get I
- 30:54Speaker 1: think this is the play right after that, or maybe
- 30:57Speaker 1: two plays later, the completion to the tye. I think
- 31:00Speaker 1: the Bills were in single high and Bishop closes from
- 31:03Speaker 1: the post. It has a real nice hit on the
- 31:05Speaker 1: tight end. Barries him also had a nice maybe a
- 31:09Speaker 1: PBu a couple On the next series, Bill's blitz He's
- 31:14Speaker 1: got the number three to the trip side who's running
- 31:16Speaker 1: an over. QB throws it a little bit behind the receiver,
- 31:20Speaker 1: but Bishop broke on it really nice. Even if the
- 31:21Speaker 1: ball was completed, I think Bishop sticks that receiver and
- 31:24Speaker 1: takes him down right there. Cool. Bishop played nice tonight,
- 31:27Speaker 1: really encouraging performance from him. Either however, he played tonight
- 31:31Speaker 1: positively or negatively. He should be the starter alongside Taylor Rapp,
- 31:36Speaker 1: and he needs time on task. I don't think him
- 31:39Speaker 1: playing well tonight is an indication that everything finally clicked.
- 31:43Speaker 1: He's turned the corner. He's going to be a stud.
- 31:45Speaker 1: He needs time on task. I think a lot of
- 31:47Speaker 1: us know this and recognize this again, especially with the defense.
- 31:50Speaker 1: He came from a Utah where him and Sioni Vaki,
- 31:54Speaker 1: the other safety, his running mate there who's now running
- 31:56Speaker 1: back for the Lions. They were both interchange as these
- 32:00Speaker 1: monster men type safety where a lot of their best
- 32:02Speaker 1: reps were again in and around the box. As you know,
- 32:05Speaker 1: apex dudes, big nickels, blitzing off ball, linebacker, manning up
- 32:10Speaker 1: with tight ends, running backs again, in and around the box,
- 32:13Speaker 1: in and around the line of scrimmage. Cole Bishop needs
- 32:15Speaker 1: time on task. I think he'll get it. The Bills
- 32:18Speaker 1: want him to start, and I think his performance solidified
- 32:21Speaker 1: to his performance tonight solidified that he will be the starter,
- 32:24Speaker 1: even if it didn't even if he was shaky. It
- 32:30Speaker 1: comes to a point where you do have to have
- 32:32Speaker 1: that discussion of if you have a player who needs
- 32:34Speaker 1: time on task and you're also a team that is
- 32:38Speaker 1: trying to compete for a championship, there is that value
- 32:43Speaker 1: proposition of what's worth more to get a guy time
- 32:46Speaker 1: on task and potentially be vulnerable or start a guy
- 32:51Speaker 1: who doesn't have the ceiling but is more reliable and
- 32:53Speaker 1: responsible and may help us win more in the short
- 32:56Speaker 1: term because of that reliability and responsibility. I think that's
- 32:59Speaker 1: the basis of the argument for Cole Bishop and DeMar Hamlin.
- 33:04Speaker 1: I just I've seen enough of Hamlin. I think he's
- 33:07Speaker 1: very fine as a safety three or a safety four
- 33:09Speaker 1: if one of your starters gets hurt and he needs
- 33:12Speaker 1: to come in and be a band aid in game
- 33:15Speaker 1: or for a couple games, or for a stretch. I
- 33:17Speaker 1: think he's more than fine for that, especially in this
- 33:20Speaker 1: defense where he knows where to get to. He is trusted,
- 33:23Speaker 1: he is reliable, he is responsible. His ceiling is limited
- 33:29Speaker 1: because he is limited athletically. He's not a strong coverage
- 33:33Speaker 1: presence in terms of making plays on the ball, reading
- 33:36Speaker 1: route distributions, playing with anticipation, clicking, closing, triggering, ball hawking.
- 33:42Speaker 1: You don't really see that with him. I think he's
- 33:44Speaker 1: fine as safety three. I don't want to see another
- 33:47Speaker 1: pairing of Hamlin and rap because then you have two
- 33:49Speaker 1: safeties that are limited athletically. I don't want to see that.
- 33:56Speaker 1: I never I always thought Hamlin was fine, Like legitimately,
- 34:00Speaker 1: I never really got onto the hype train of he's
- 34:04Speaker 1: going to be a stud, he's awesome, he's the next
- 34:06Speaker 1: late round find. You know, he's going to be great.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I didn't get really into that buzz and that Homer.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I feel like a lot of it was Homer hype
- 34:13Speaker 1: that really built him up early on. I didn't feel
- 34:16Speaker 1: that way. But I think he's fine as a depth safety,
- 34:18Speaker 1: Like that's fine, but I don't want to see him
- 34:19Speaker 1: in him and rap especially starting Like if Damar Hamlin's
- 34:23Speaker 1: a starter, the other safety needs to be a real rangey,
- 34:27Speaker 1: ballhawk type of guy that you compare him with him
- 34:29Speaker 1: playoff of so rap In Hamlin I do not think
- 34:32Speaker 1: is an ideal parent. I also don't think Bishop and
- 34:35Speaker 1: Hamlin is an ideal parent. But I always thought Bishop
- 34:38Speaker 1: was going to be the starter for this year alongside Wrap.
- 34:40Speaker 1: I think the Bills wanted it. I think it makes
- 34:42Speaker 1: the most sense for the defense. The only thing that
- 34:43Speaker 1: was going to hinder that would be if Bishop got
- 34:45Speaker 1: hurt and missed time to the point that he wasn't
- 34:48Speaker 1: going to be able to play Week one. I think
- 34:50Speaker 1: even with him missing time and not having time on task,
- 34:53Speaker 1: he was still going to be the starter unless he
- 34:55Speaker 1: was significantly hurt or when he did get some snaps
- 34:58Speaker 1: he looked atrocious and he did not, so I think
- 35:01Speaker 1: it was fine what he was able to do tonight.
- 35:05Speaker 1: I do I like this coming from Pete. Pete says
- 35:07Speaker 1: the preseason has done anything to alleviate my concerns about Bishop,
- 35:10Speaker 1: not that it should have. Remains to be seen if
- 35:12Speaker 1: he can develop. I'm really in lockstep with you for
- 35:14Speaker 1: a lot of this. I was encouraged by his play tonight,
- 35:19Speaker 1: But he played in the ways that I think he's
- 35:24Speaker 1: good at. Like I think he's really good in and
- 35:26Speaker 1: around the box. Like you want him to blitz, I'm
- 35:28Speaker 1: cool with him. You want to blitz the B gap,
- 35:30Speaker 1: blitz the C, blitz the D like anything. He's good
- 35:33Speaker 1: in those areas, the hook, the kurls, the curdl flats,
- 35:36Speaker 1: anything in that range. I want to see him make
- 35:39Speaker 1: more plays as the single high post safety. I want
- 35:42Speaker 1: to see him break on the ball from a two
- 35:43Speaker 1: high alignment, whether it's cover two or four or six.
- 35:46Speaker 1: I want to see him read route distributions and space
- 35:50Speaker 1: routes equally. From depth, I want him to be able
- 35:54Speaker 1: to make plays going from the numbers to the sideline,
- 35:56Speaker 1: or from the hatch to the middle of the field,
- 35:59Speaker 1: or vice versas, the middle of the field to the
- 36:01Speaker 1: numbers or anything like. I want to see more plays
- 36:05Speaker 1: on the ball from depth and coverage. We have not
- 36:07Speaker 1: seen that yet. I think it needs a proper sample size,
- 36:11Speaker 1: and I do think it remains to be seen if
- 36:13Speaker 1: he can develop or you know, he kind of is
- 36:18Speaker 1: what he is and being more of a box safety,
- 36:20Speaker 1: which again, I think he can be really effective at
- 36:22Speaker 1: the Bills. Just need to make sure next offseason they
- 36:25Speaker 1: get more of a Ballhawks center field type of dude
- 36:28Speaker 1: to pair him with to really kind of take advantage
- 36:30Speaker 1: of that grouping. Again, you're still somewhat siloing yourself or
- 36:34Speaker 1: tipping your hand a little bit if you do that.
- 36:36Speaker 1: But I think it can still work out while Bishop
- 36:39Speaker 1: continues to develop and you continue to kind of maybe
- 36:42Speaker 1: change your coverage structure plan on the back end. But yeah,
- 36:46Speaker 1: I think this is a pretty safe comment here as
- 36:50Speaker 1: a person who was concerned about Bishop's fit, my concerns
- 36:53Speaker 1: are not alleviated. I thought tonight he had a good performance,
- 36:56Speaker 1: But again, a lot of the plays that I thought
- 36:57Speaker 1: he did well with tonight, or plays that are in
- 37:00Speaker 1: his wheelhouse, in and around the box, in and around
- 37:02Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage, essentially playing it's like the eighth
- 37:05Speaker 1: man in the box and working off that. But we'll
- 37:07Speaker 1: see again, as you know going What I think what
- 37:09Speaker 1: will help him to is the in theory the start
- 37:13Speaker 1: of the season after Baltimore is a bit easier, and
- 37:15Speaker 1: even Baltimore right get in, They're going to run the ball,
- 37:20Speaker 1: try and get him in and around the box. You know,
- 37:22Speaker 1: we'll see what they can do from a past catching standpoint,
- 37:25Speaker 1: how healthy they are receiver, what they're able to do.
- 37:28Speaker 1: I think it is going to be a little bit
- 37:29Speaker 1: of baptism by fire against Baltimore with him, Maybe the
- 37:33Speaker 1: Bills don't play too much match coverage stuff or too
- 37:35Speaker 1: much adjustment pieces. We'll see what they do there. But
- 37:38Speaker 1: him with RAP should help stabilize the calls and everything
- 37:42Speaker 1: on the back end because of how much of a
- 37:44Speaker 1: calming presence RAP is from a coverage call and adjustment standpoint.
- 37:48Speaker 1: But we'll see. For Taylor, rat pop, says Dorian Strong.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Thoughts is that a couple of nice coverage reps. I
- 37:56Speaker 1: haven't been blown away by him. I thought his run
- 37:58Speaker 1: fits have been poor in the preseason, and we're pouring
- 38:01Speaker 1: the scrimmage and even in camp to a degree which
- 38:04Speaker 1: I thought was really disappointing, given you know, it's his
- 38:07Speaker 1: collegiate pedigree and what they teach at Virginia Tech and
- 38:10Speaker 1: how he operated at Virginia Tech. I think for me,
- 38:14Speaker 1: I don't think he's near He's a roster lock. It
- 38:16Speaker 1: depends on how injured everybody is. Right, if Trey is
- 38:19Speaker 1: out for a long time. Harriston's injury right now, But
- 38:21Speaker 1: like if you told me right now I have to
- 38:23Speaker 1: pick between Dorian Strong and JaMarcus Ingram, I would picture
- 38:25Speaker 1: Marcus Ingram. That's kind of where my head is at
- 38:28Speaker 1: right now. Oh, Anthony says Hancock will succeed Rap and
- 38:34Speaker 1: become Bishop's running mate. We'll see, we'll see, we'll see.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Keith says, you gotta play Bishop. They held out Elm
- 38:41Speaker 1: because he wasn't as steady as others, but when he
- 38:43Speaker 1: was needed, he wasn't ready. I'd rather eat the bad
- 38:45Speaker 1: reps in weeks two through nine than in January when
- 38:48Speaker 1: he's called upon see. I think that's Keith laying out
- 38:50Speaker 1: the value proposition and he's picking aside. I don't think
- 38:53Speaker 1: there is I don't think there's a right or wrong
- 38:55Speaker 1: answer right there. It's either, you know, play the known
- 38:58Speaker 1: quantity because you don't want to take the risks with
- 39:01Speaker 1: the unknown quantity while you're trying to win a championship.
- 39:04Speaker 1: But then you'd also kind of robbing Peter to pay
- 39:06Speaker 1: Paul a little bit, because then you're not getting the
- 39:09Speaker 1: future player time on task needed for them to hit
- 39:13Speaker 1: the ceiling that you want them to hit as that
- 39:16Speaker 1: future player. I think this is a fair point, though
- 39:21Speaker 1: Charles says don't love Hamlin starting, but Bishop has improved
- 39:24Speaker 1: to be an upgrade. Despite his testing, he looks slow
- 39:27Speaker 1: in coverage. This is my biggest thing with him, and
- 39:30Speaker 1: I said it after he was drafted. I actually said
- 39:35Speaker 1: it during the draft process too, for how good his
- 39:37Speaker 1: testing is. Right, he tested and the forty time, the athleticism,
- 39:42Speaker 1: the change of direction, everything was like, Wow, this dude
- 39:44Speaker 1: is a stud. Look at his size. The size, weight, athleticism,
- 39:48Speaker 1: combo was really intriguing. I didn't think he played as
- 39:52Speaker 1: fast as he tested, and I say that as a
- 39:55Speaker 1: person who watched him a lot on tape. And I
- 39:57Speaker 1: also saw cool Bishop at the Senior Bowl. He did
- 40:00Speaker 1: not look like a guy that was going to test
- 40:02Speaker 1: like he did at the Combine. Now, kudos to him,
- 40:05Speaker 1: he tested very well the Combine. I think this is
- 40:09Speaker 1: a very fair comment from Charles. I don't think Colebishall
- 40:11Speaker 1: plays as fast, especially in space and especially in coverage.
- 40:15Speaker 1: I don't think he plays as fast as his testing
- 40:18Speaker 1: would indicate. And part of that, I think is because
- 40:22Speaker 1: he's processing and having to think too much instead of
- 40:24Speaker 1: just being able to play, read and react. It's very
- 40:27Speaker 1: similar to I think Tremaine Edmonds, who at a lot
- 40:32Speaker 1: of his time in Buffalo. You could see you'd watch
- 40:35Speaker 1: him run sideline to sideline. You'd be like, wow, what
- 40:37Speaker 1: an athlete. And then you'd also see times where he
- 40:39Speaker 1: almost was like stuck in one place because you could
- 40:41Speaker 1: see him trying to process and read what was happening.
- 40:45Speaker 1: You can only play as fast physically as you can
- 40:48Speaker 1: play as fast mentally. If you can't read and process quickly,
- 40:53Speaker 1: it doesn't matter how fast you are, how athletic you are,
- 40:56Speaker 1: how quick, how fleet of foot, or explosive you are.
- 40:59Speaker 1: If you can't play fast mentally, you cannot play fast physically,
- 41:03Speaker 1: although you could you could just run around like a
- 41:04Speaker 1: chicken with their head cut off and see what happens.
- 41:07Speaker 1: I do think Bishop is an upgrade from an athleticism standpoint,
- 41:12Speaker 1: and from what he does in and around the box
- 41:15Speaker 1: versus Hamlin. So I do again, for me, I would
- 41:18Speaker 1: take Bishop over Hamlin right now, starting them, but I
- 41:22Speaker 1: do agree with the slowness and coverage aspect. But I
- 41:25Speaker 1: think the only way to remedy that is more time
- 41:26Speaker 1: on task, which is also part of the reason why
- 41:28Speaker 1: I want to start him over Hamlin, in addition to
- 41:31Speaker 1: the other pieces that I mentioned. But I think this
- 41:32Speaker 1: is a fair comment and a fair point. Anthony says,
- 41:37Speaker 1: you don't think Hancock can start. I think Hancock can
- 41:40Speaker 1: start in the future. I don't think he should start
- 41:42Speaker 1: right now. I think he's made some nice plays. I
- 41:45Speaker 1: also think he's had some some poor recognition from depth
- 41:51Speaker 1: at times against the run and against play action. I
- 41:53Speaker 1: think he's lost some guys in coverage at times. You know,
- 41:58Speaker 1: there's been some coverage busts that could have been on
- 42:00Speaker 1: his watch. But he again, he's got speed, he's got athleticism,
- 42:05Speaker 1: he's got physicality. I think he could start next year
- 42:08Speaker 1: or in the future. I'm not ready to start him
- 42:10Speaker 1: right now. I don't know if your question is for
- 42:13Speaker 1: twenty twenty five or beyond. I think he could be
- 42:15Speaker 1: the starter, you know, in the future. I like what
- 42:18Speaker 1: I saw from him in Ohio State. I like some
- 42:20Speaker 1: of what he's shown here, but I think the details,
- 42:21Speaker 1: like Sean McDermott said, like Bobby Babbage said, you see
- 42:24Speaker 1: it on tape, where his eyes go, the processing, the
- 42:28Speaker 1: recognition that's got to get up to speed and I'm
- 42:31Speaker 1: wary of putting him with Bishop right now because both
- 42:34Speaker 1: those guys have processing and reading questions around them. Athleticism cool,
- 42:40Speaker 1: burst cool, physicality cool, but that from the neck up,
- 42:45Speaker 1: not that they're bad. They just need to learn. And
- 42:48Speaker 1: I don't want to have those two guys together right now.
- 42:51Speaker 1: We'll see what it is next year. Again, A lot
- 42:53Speaker 1: of that depends on what Bishop is, what Hancock you know,
- 42:55Speaker 1: can become as well in terms of what that pairing
- 42:57Speaker 1: would look like. M Aka Cash is hard knocks with
- 43:02Speaker 1: picture marcus Ingram too. Yeah, I forgot he was focused
- 43:04Speaker 1: under marcus Ingram. I just like he can play inside,
- 43:07Speaker 1: he can play outside, he plays the run well, he's physical,
- 43:10Speaker 1: he's nasty. He just I will take that as a
- 43:14Speaker 1: floor considering again, like two of your top three CBS
- 43:19Speaker 1: would be out week one. It's not ideal. I don't
- 43:22Speaker 1: think there's right answer either way, but I would picture
- 43:23Speaker 1: marcus ingram Oh. Nick says, on a side note, my
- 43:27Speaker 1: guy Elam is looking great in Dallas. Nice to see
- 43:29Speaker 1: I have not kept up with him in Dallas. Good
- 43:31Speaker 1: to good for him if he is. JP says, I
- 43:35Speaker 1: just got home from the game. Make Shaver's wide receiver five.
- 43:38Speaker 1: He did great on special teams too. Yeah, I thought
- 43:40Speaker 1: he was. He was a gunner at one point. I'm
- 43:41Speaker 1: interested to see those uh those reps. Oh, don't do this, Kmorey.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Cammorey says should have just signed Javon Holland and drafted Starts.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Just kidding, just kidding out return to normalcy. I say
- 43:51Speaker 1: it again, I would have. I would have taken Malki
- 43:54Speaker 1: Starks in round one had he been there. I also
- 43:57Speaker 1: would have taken Tyler Williams. But I don't think the
- 44:02Speaker 1: only thing that gives me comfort with Starks is I
- 44:05Speaker 1: don't think they would have taken Starks if he was there,
- 44:08Speaker 1: because that means they're booting rap or they're putting the
- 44:11Speaker 1: nail on the coffin on Bishop, and I don't think
- 44:13Speaker 1: they were going to do either of those things. I
- 44:14Speaker 1: think Taylor Rapp is a key cog as a quarterback
- 44:18Speaker 1: of the defense or one of like the brain trust
- 44:20Speaker 1: pieces on the defense, along with Aron Johnson, along with
- 44:22Speaker 1: Terrell Bernard. So I don't think Rapp was going anywhere.
- 44:26Speaker 1: And I think they want Bishop to be the guy
- 44:27Speaker 1: and they're going to give him every opportunity. So that's
- 44:29Speaker 1: the only thing that gives me, You know, Solace, I
- 44:32Speaker 1: would have also signed j Von Holland and drafted starks Man.
- 44:35Speaker 1: That'll be a cool safety duo. It also sucks that
- 44:39Speaker 1: Malachi starks is in Baltimore like him, paired with Kyle
- 44:42Speaker 1: Hamilton is just so unfair for that defense. That's crazy.
- 44:47Speaker 1: I'm excited for him, though, and says the Bills traded
- 44:53Speaker 1: Elam then changed their defensive philosophy that would support his attribute.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Seems like poor management. I think it's all so Elam.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Even when they were playing him in a defense that
- 45:06Speaker 1: suited his attributes, he still wasn't playing good like they
- 45:09Speaker 1: would play. They would have him play press man and
- 45:12Speaker 1: he would grab, he would clutch, He got hold for
- 45:14Speaker 1: countless illegal contact penalties and defensive holding penalties. He would
- 45:18Speaker 1: panic at the top of routes and on breaks. He
- 45:21Speaker 1: made some nice plays at times. He was also an
- 45:24Speaker 1: inconsistent and a poor tackler in the Bills defense. I
- 45:28Speaker 1: do think he was much more. He was a trades
- 45:31Speaker 1: based pick to your point, right. They bet on the
- 45:33Speaker 1: size and the frame and the athleticism and said, hey,
- 45:37Speaker 1: we can take this dude who can play man. We
- 45:39Speaker 1: can coach him up to play zone and then when
- 45:42Speaker 1: we play man, we can have him play you know,
- 45:45Speaker 1: more to his strengths because we want to work in
- 45:47Speaker 1: more man and that never really took hold. And he
- 45:51Speaker 1: also even just from his rookie camp. I remember, I
- 45:55Speaker 1: think his rookie camp and his second year camp they
- 45:58Speaker 1: had to put the boxing gloves on him because he
- 45:59Speaker 1: was so lu he was so grabby. I also think
- 46:02Speaker 1: too again this is part of like my evaluation of
- 46:04Speaker 1: him coming out. He benefited a lot from the college
- 46:08Speaker 1: rules of you know, no illegal contact like is reps.
- 46:11Speaker 1: When people talk about, oh, he locked up jameson Williams
- 46:14Speaker 1: and Alabama, he was just mugging the hell out of him,
- 46:18Speaker 1: like the entire stem of his route, just grabbing, yankin,
- 46:21Speaker 1: pulling like he played to the rules there, and I
- 46:24Speaker 1: think it took him a while to learn to not
- 46:26Speaker 1: do that in the NFL. And I don't know if
- 46:29Speaker 1: he was thinking too much, because again the athleticism was there,
- 46:32Speaker 1: the study habits were there. We Eric and I had
- 46:34Speaker 1: him in the film room. He's a smart dude. He
- 46:35Speaker 1: sees the game well, he understands it. For whatever reason,
- 46:39Speaker 1: you just couldn't put it together here and I also
- 46:41Speaker 1: don't think they're changing. I don't think the Bills changed
- 46:43Speaker 1: the defensive philosophy too much that would support his attributes.
- 46:46Speaker 1: I think they're going to play more man this year,
- 46:48Speaker 1: but not to the point where they're gonna be a
- 46:51Speaker 1: primary like man coverage defense like the Florida Gators were
- 46:54Speaker 1: when Elm was there, and even when they do play
- 46:57Speaker 1: man at times with match coverage stuff. So there's more
- 47:00Speaker 1: mental side, there's more adjustments, there's more checks, there's more
- 47:03Speaker 1: rules based, which is also a bit different. I do
- 47:07Speaker 1: think again, they tried to polish him up, and they
- 47:10Speaker 1: picked him based on the traits, but I don't completely
- 47:14Speaker 1: agree that. You know, they change their defensive philosophy, and
- 47:17Speaker 1: also when they did try to work him in in
- 47:19Speaker 1: the ways that would benefit him, he faltered, which is unfortunate.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Joey's his thoughts on Dwayne Carter. Could we be moving
- 47:28Speaker 1: for a fifth or a sixth rounder or a player
- 47:29Speaker 1: we could use if someone else will take him. Sure,
- 47:32Speaker 1: I think he's shown very little and has very little
- 47:34Speaker 1: trade value. I think if not for Lario and Joby
- 47:37Speaker 1: being suspended, I think he'd probably get cut, which is
- 47:39Speaker 1: really unfortunate for him. And for allocation of draft capital
- 47:44Speaker 1: and resources, which is very unfortunate. Uh so, yeah, cold Bishop.
- 47:50Speaker 1: I think that was a large conversation about Cole Bishop.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Nice to see him play well tonight. We'll see what
- 47:55Speaker 1: he does in the coming weeks, stays healthy, and then
- 47:58Speaker 1: we'll see what he looks like against Baltimore. Will probably
- 48:00Speaker 1: be talking about him almost regularly each week to see
- 48:02Speaker 1: what his development looks like, what his progression looks like. Again,
- 48:05Speaker 1: because Taylor raps the UFA next year, So are we
- 48:09Speaker 1: sitting here next offseason in February or March or whenever,
- 48:14Speaker 1: and saying the Bills need one safety to play alongside
- 48:17Speaker 1: cool Bishop or do they need to because Taylor raps
- 48:20Speaker 1: the UFA and Bishop hasn't become the prince that was promised.
- 48:24Speaker 1: We'll kind of see. Yeah, let's move on to another
- 48:29Speaker 1: person who balled out tonight, mentioned a ton of the comments,
- 48:32Speaker 1: talked about him a little already, Tyrrel Shavers. Really good
- 48:35Speaker 1: night for him, crazy good one handed catch, nice response
- 48:38Speaker 1: to after the he drops the first pass that comes
- 48:40Speaker 1: his way, double catches his next catch or his first catch,
- 48:43Speaker 1: but second target on the sideline and that broken play.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Really interesting combination of traits and skill set, size frame,
- 48:55Speaker 1: good stride, good Speed's got some long speed, and I
- 48:59Speaker 1: think it was a nice too, is being able to
- 49:00Speaker 1: you know, some of the deception he's had in his routes.
- 49:03Speaker 1: I played a clip from last week's game against the Bears.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Wasn't mcdial was like a first first and fifteen first
- 49:08Speaker 1: and twenty even maybe. But he's the solo receiver up
- 49:12Speaker 1: top two in a three by one, corners on him
- 49:17Speaker 1: and press. He takes an outside release, sells like he's
- 49:21Speaker 1: going vertical, and they just puts his foot in the ground,
- 49:24Speaker 1: snaps it off, turns, catches the pass or like a
- 49:26Speaker 1: seven eight nine yard gain something like that. But he
- 49:29Speaker 1: sells vertical really well, convinces the corner that he's going vertical,
- 49:34Speaker 1: and then right as the corner turns and opens up
- 49:36Speaker 1: to run and go upfield. Is when Shavers not even
- 49:40Speaker 1: throttles it down, just puts his foot in the ground, stops, turns,
- 49:42Speaker 1: doesn't take him a ton of steps to get out
- 49:45Speaker 1: of his break, doesn't take him a ton of steps
- 49:47Speaker 1: to chop, chop, turn, stop, come out. It's just a
- 49:50Speaker 1: real smooth as he throttles up, throttles right back down,
- 49:54Speaker 1: but essentially just puts the foot in, turns bang balls
- 49:57Speaker 1: right there, he creates separation. It was good tempoing, good
- 50:01Speaker 1: pacing to the stem paired him with the release and
- 50:03Speaker 1: the deception. Those little technical things I think have been
- 50:07Speaker 1: really nice to see from him. And that's in addition
- 50:09Speaker 1: to again having some good size, some good frame, and
- 50:12Speaker 1: some good athleticism. I think is a real interesting combination
- 50:15Speaker 1: of traits and skill set and where he is right now,
- 50:18Speaker 1: and considering what this offense is and what they look
- 50:26Speaker 1: like at wide receiver and what they want to be
- 50:28Speaker 1: right Bigger body types, bigger type of wide receivers, guys
- 50:32Speaker 1: who have some size, have some frame, ken block, but
- 50:36Speaker 1: also play receiver. At the same time, he offers special
- 50:39Speaker 1: teams value. As a lot of you have said in
- 50:41Speaker 1: the comments, it's hard to keep him off the fifty
- 50:46Speaker 1: three at this point, even just the special teams value alone.
- 50:49Speaker 1: He can be wide receiver five and give you special
- 50:52Speaker 1: teams value. But the catches that he's made. I noted
- 50:55Speaker 1: him during camp because all the injuries happening above him
- 50:58Speaker 1: right you know, Samuel got hurt, Palm got hurt and
- 51:00Speaker 1: wasn't practicing. Shakir got hurt. That's why you got guys
- 51:04Speaker 1: like Steven Gosnell taking reps with you know, the ones
- 51:06Speaker 1: and catching passes from Josh Allen. But Tyrol Shavers was
- 51:09Speaker 1: a huge benefactor of that, and he got a lot
- 51:13Speaker 1: of reps with Alan and he just seemed to find
- 51:15Speaker 1: his rhythm. He was finding soft spots in his own
- 51:18Speaker 1: he was settling in nicely, he was catching passes from Alan.
- 51:21Speaker 1: They started to develop a report a little bit. I
- 51:23Speaker 1: do think it's gonna be really hard to keep him
- 51:25Speaker 1: off the fifty three. I like some of what Elijah
- 51:27Speaker 1: Moore has done. I showed a comment. I showed a
- 51:31Speaker 1: clip from last week's game against the Bears where they
- 51:35Speaker 1: think like it's gonna be a play action rollout, and
- 51:37Speaker 1: then the QUARTERBA and Mike White like goes to roll
- 51:40Speaker 1: out to his right, but then stops and goes to
- 51:41Speaker 1: throw back to his left and more sells like he's
- 51:44Speaker 1: running over and they just sinks his hips, snaps it
- 51:47Speaker 1: off and pops out on it out and he gets
- 51:49Speaker 1: open and creates separation immediately. I think that's really nice.
- 51:53Speaker 1: I think that type of separation in juice and shiftiness
- 51:56Speaker 1: and route running is needed in this offense. I also
- 51:59Speaker 1: liked you more can play inside outside. I like that
- 52:02Speaker 1: he can. You know, if Shakiir misses time, he can
- 52:05Speaker 1: mitigate some of the Shakiro role a little bit, but
- 52:07Speaker 1: he can also play outside. He's not a pure slot only.
- 52:11Speaker 1: He has had some drops this preseason. I don't think
- 52:15Speaker 1: he did a lot to kind of solidify a spot
- 52:17Speaker 1: for himself. I could see people wanting more over Samuel.
- 52:22Speaker 1: For me, I think that's a tougher conversation if Samuel
- 52:25Speaker 1: is healthy, considering like what he can be and how
- 52:27Speaker 1: Joe Brady has used him. But I think it's a
- 52:30Speaker 1: really interesting spot from a position standpoint to see what
- 52:34Speaker 1: happens to wide receiver because I think Shavers has thrown
- 52:38Speaker 1: a bit of a wrench into everything because I don't
- 52:40Speaker 1: know how you keep him off the fifty three. And
- 52:42Speaker 1: if Samuel's healthy, right, let's play the game and just say, Okay,
- 52:46Speaker 1: Palmer's going to be healthy, Keon's going to be healthy,
- 52:49Speaker 1: Shakiir is going to be back for a week one, Curtis,
- 52:51Speaker 1: Samuel's going to be back for a week one. Okay.
- 52:53Speaker 1: So that's your top four? Is Shavers your five? Are
- 52:58Speaker 1: you keeping more? And Shavers that in and of itself
- 53:02Speaker 1: is a bit of like a question. And then if
- 53:04Speaker 1: you go further, okay, it's Curtis Samuel hurt. So are
- 53:08Speaker 1: we gonna keep more and Shavers and we're only gonna
- 53:10Speaker 1: keep five or you know, we're still keeping six. How
- 53:13Speaker 1: is Shakir gonna be ready for the week one with
- 53:16Speaker 1: the high ankle sprain? Should we keep him out a
- 53:18Speaker 1: little longer? Does that mean we want to keep more
- 53:21Speaker 1: a little more? No pun intended, because you can mitigate
- 53:24Speaker 1: Shakir missing time a little bit? Is Shakir and Samuel
- 53:27Speaker 1: both going to miss time? How healthy is Josh Palmer?
- 53:31Speaker 1: The injuries, I think it really muddied the hell out
- 53:35Speaker 1: of the wide receiver position. But at the end of
- 53:38Speaker 1: the day, just focusing purely on Shavers with the catch
- 53:40Speaker 1: that he made in this game, that performs that he's
- 53:42Speaker 1: had this preseason and this camp, man, it's gonna be
- 53:46Speaker 1: hard to keep him off the fifty three. I don't
- 53:48Speaker 1: think you can keep Shavers off the fifty three at
- 53:52Speaker 1: this point. He I think he's played himself into a
- 53:55Speaker 1: roster spot, which is awesome for him. And again he's
- 53:59Speaker 1: got some trades. I think there's a you could make
- 54:01Speaker 1: the case that he's still like ascending and he could
- 54:03Speaker 1: still have a ceiling that he could hit. You know,
- 54:06Speaker 1: I don't think you could say, you know, his ceiling
- 54:08Speaker 1: isn't just going to be, you know, bottom of the
- 54:09Speaker 1: depth chart guy. He could be why does zebra three
- 54:11Speaker 1: or two or something like that. So we'll see. I
- 54:15Speaker 1: think it's money. Everything comes down to how healthy everybody
- 54:17Speaker 1: is at the top of the depth chart, Palmer, Shakir, Samuel,
- 54:21Speaker 1: mainly Palmer and Samuel, and then mainly Samuel from that,
- 54:25Speaker 1: but we'll see. Pop says, what about Wolkerson, He's had
- 54:29Speaker 1: some nice moments. I just think he's he's more on
- 54:31Speaker 1: the outside looking in. I think he's more of a
- 54:33Speaker 1: practice squad guy that I'd welcome. But I don't think
- 54:35Speaker 1: he's gonna make the fifty three, Joey says, and Channault too.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I don't think he's shown enough as a receiver. You know,
- 54:42Speaker 1: maybe he makes it as the returner, but he would
- 54:45Speaker 1: be a receiver. I think only in depth chart or
- 54:47Speaker 1: as late in labeling. I don't think he's actually gonna
- 54:49Speaker 1: be used as a receiver. I thought a lot of
- 54:51Speaker 1: his receiver reps this preseason were poor. I didn't really
- 54:53Speaker 1: see the long speed of the separation and then coming
- 54:56Speaker 1: out of breaks it was choppy, little herky, jerky, especially
- 55:00Speaker 1: if guys contacted him. You just didn't see that kind
- 55:02Speaker 1: of fluidity in his transitions or really taking advantage of
- 55:05Speaker 1: the speed or athleticism or compact physicality and size that
- 55:08Speaker 1: he has within his frame. So I'm man on Chanel
- 55:13Speaker 1: very much so, Lousas someone mentioned, the gay versus Shavers
- 55:19Speaker 1: and the special teams is really what makes it a
- 55:21Speaker 1: no contest in my mind, I think that's fair. It's okay, Lou,
- 55:24Speaker 1: you didn't have to correct. I know what you meant.
- 55:25Speaker 1: I know what you meant. Ga Vers Shavers. Yeah, I
- 55:27Speaker 1: think the special teams is a huge piece for Shavers
- 55:29Speaker 1: as well. Again another feather in his cap. I'm not
- 55:32Speaker 1: even just talking about actually what he could offer as
- 55:34Speaker 1: a receiver. So I think that's a very a very
- 55:37Speaker 1: fair point. Also balling out tonight the third kind of
- 55:41Speaker 1: three star h bisho. If we're ranking stars, bishe will
- 55:46Speaker 1: probably be the third star, but he flashed for some
- 55:49Speaker 1: going in order. But Bishop Tyrol Shavers another person we
- 55:53Speaker 1: talked about a little bit, and who you folks have
- 55:55Speaker 1: mentioned in the chat a bunch of Dion Walker, a
- 55:57Speaker 1: couple of really nice reps tonight probably got credit with
- 56:01Speaker 1: half a sack on that one with aj Apanessa a
- 56:04Speaker 1: good run stop, a good run fit earlier as well.
- 56:10Speaker 1: So I think he showed up in the box the
- 56:13Speaker 1: box stats a little bit, maybe in the advanced metrics
- 56:15Speaker 1: ones as well, but I think the big one, and
- 56:17Speaker 1: I talked about it earlier, just seeing more of him
- 56:20Speaker 1: use his hands and his length to his advantage. I
- 56:24Speaker 1: think it's awesome that he is built like a mountain
- 56:27Speaker 1: but is nimble and can penetrate and can line up
- 56:31Speaker 1: in a wide alignment and do various things. But he
- 56:35Speaker 1: needs to refine his technique with his hands, and you
- 56:39Speaker 1: use more of what he has instead of just using
- 56:41Speaker 1: I'm big and athletic, use your hands, use those giant pause,
- 56:45Speaker 1: work on placement, timing, you know, using your length, using
- 56:50Speaker 1: that to play with better leverage, and not allowing guys
- 56:53Speaker 1: to get into your chest and get under you and
- 56:55Speaker 1: displace you. I think that is going to be a
- 56:57Speaker 1: work in progress. But he showed progression from last week
- 57:01Speaker 1: to this week, which was nice, and he's had some
- 57:03Speaker 1: really good flashes. I think him being defensive tackle five
- 57:09Speaker 1: once everybody's good. I think the defensive tackle rotation is
- 57:13Speaker 1: at Oliver Daikwon Jones, LARRYO. Gounjobi, TJ Sanders, Dion Walker.
- 57:18Speaker 1: I think he could be a really useful defensive tackle five.
- 57:21Speaker 1: And I'm not saying that it's like a backhanded compliment,
- 57:23Speaker 1: like if he can be a guy to come in
- 57:25Speaker 1: and just kind of wreck shop a little bit. Because
- 57:28Speaker 1: he's only going to play like fifteen snaps a game,
- 57:31Speaker 1: you don't have to worry about him getting winded. You
- 57:33Speaker 1: don't have to worry about necessarily putting him in situations
- 57:35Speaker 1: where he is going to be playing the run. You
- 57:38Speaker 1: can kind of put him in on known passing downs
- 57:41Speaker 1: or non passing situations and let him just hunt and
- 57:43Speaker 1: be a problem. That can be really fun. And then
- 57:47Speaker 1: long term again, even short term, intermediate and long term
- 57:50Speaker 1: hand usage, playing to your length, playing to things other
- 57:54Speaker 1: than just being big and athletic. Right, And I do
- 57:57Speaker 1: think the run defense is still a concern. I think
- 58:00Speaker 1: double teams are going to give him a problem. I
- 58:01Speaker 1: think him being able to anchor is going to be
- 58:05Speaker 1: something we need to watch for, or if he can
- 58:06Speaker 1: drop the knee and split the double team. I don't
- 58:08Speaker 1: think he has the type of body type that's gonna
- 58:09Speaker 1: allow him to drop the knee. It's gonna be more
- 58:11Speaker 1: of anchoring or just kind of gumming everything up by
- 58:14Speaker 1: not getting moved or using his length and just muddying
- 58:16Speaker 1: things up. But you know, Eric and I showed in
- 58:19Speaker 1: the film room last week of him doing a really
- 58:22Speaker 1: good job recognizing the down block on a counter run.
- 58:27Speaker 1: You know, he sees the center goes away from him,
- 58:30Speaker 1: his eyes immediately get to the guard who's trying to
- 58:32Speaker 1: down block, and he quick swims him, gets to the
- 58:34Speaker 1: piece of the right tackle who's trying to down block,
- 58:36Speaker 1: and get to Dorrian Williams gums the whole thing up.
- 58:39Speaker 1: Running back eventually comes back his way and he makes
- 58:41Speaker 1: the stop at the line, right. So I think that's
- 58:45Speaker 1: also a given. You know, continue to work on your processing,
- 58:47Speaker 1: your block recognition, knowing your situational cues and understanding, Okay,
- 58:51Speaker 1: if this guy's going that way, I got where do
- 58:53Speaker 1: I gotta get my eyes? You know, being able to
- 58:56Speaker 1: read and react quick enough instead of just I'm gonna
- 58:59Speaker 1: get up field and shoot this app and see what happens, right,
- 59:01Speaker 1: and then on top of all that being able to
- 59:03Speaker 1: consistently play with leverage, use his hands, use his length
- 59:07Speaker 1: to his advantage, and not let guys get into his body.
- 59:09Speaker 1: But a really encouraging performance from him tonight, and yeah,
- 59:14Speaker 1: I think he's I thought before the suspensions, right, I
- 59:20Speaker 1: thought it was gonna be tough for Dwayne Carter to
- 59:22Speaker 1: like make this team, And then with the suspensions, I
- 59:25Speaker 1: was like, Okay, he'll probably end up being defensive tackle four,
- 59:28Speaker 1: mainly because I thought Walker would get a red shirt
- 59:29Speaker 1: ear because of his back and how healthy he was
- 59:32Speaker 1: or was not. But it appears that he's healthy. He's
- 59:35Speaker 1: repurposed some of his weight and is trimmed down a bit,
- 59:38Speaker 1: which I think helps his back but also helps his
- 59:40Speaker 1: movement and his leverage play. I think Dion Walker is
- 59:44Speaker 1: without question ahead of Dwayne Carter right now. Even with
- 59:47Speaker 1: Walker's struggles against the run. You get those struggles with
- 59:51Speaker 1: Carter as well, but Walker's made more plays as a
- 59:55Speaker 1: rusher and as a run defender than Carter hasnt either,
- 59:58Speaker 1: So I think Carter is very much into Bill's our
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: electric your comment. They're saying Dwayne Carter is a quandary.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I don't think he's necessarily too much of a quandary.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: I think he struggled against double teams at Duke. That
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: was my biggest thing for him. I worried about him
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: as a run defender against double teams, but even against
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: basse blocks, his best games were him just being able
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: to hunt, penetrate one gap, get up field. That's why
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: I thought his ceiling was always going to be like
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: a defensive tackle three. I thought he was more of
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: a rotational guy than he was like a regular quote
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: unquote starter. But when I think got messed up a
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: little bit for him. And this isn't giving him pass,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: but you know, him and Austin Johnson were the defense,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: the rotating defensive tackles last year, and they had Austin
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Johnson slim down a bit, and they had Dwayne Carter adweight,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: and I don't think that helped his play style. I
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: think that got him caught in between playing one tech
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: and three tech and it allowed him to not play
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: either well. He is made to be a three tech,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: a penetrator, a shooter, and instead they had him trying
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: to play more run defense and play more one tech
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: and that wasn't good for his skill set and his
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: play style in general, that type of role I'm saying,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: that type of alignment, and then on top of it,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: playing heavier. I think it was just too much for him.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: And then it's kind of similarly what they're doing with
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: him this year, and yeah, you're just seeing him get
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: displaced against the run. He doesn't really have any pop
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: or juice or pass rush, prowess or presence. You don't
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: really see anything from him. It's really disappointing because they
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: spent a third round pick on him. But I was
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: even at the point I don't like to make a
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: concrete decision on any rookie until at least year three,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: Like I think you need two to three years sample
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: size to really see what or who a guy is
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: going to be. That being said, like I would have
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: been fine if they cut Carter coming into this offseason,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Like that's how just ineffective he was last year. I
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: hoped for more, but yeah, you just didn't see it.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: And knowing some of the contexts and even speaking with
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: him a bit, we had him in the film room again,
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: another smart dude who understands the game. You just don't
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: see that practical application play out on the field. And
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: then considering you know, Sanders' flashes, Walker's flashes. Ogan Joby's
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: an interesting one. Like I, I haven't seen him do much.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: I didn't love his signing, but I can buy into
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: the notion of Okay, he was playing a four eye
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: a bunch in Pittsburgh, which really wasn't what he's best
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: suited for. Now he's going to be moved back moren inside,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: he's playing in a different way. He can penetrate, be
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: a three tack YadA YadA. I have concerns with him
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: holding up against double teams and defending the run. He
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: is more pure penetration than anything. He'll get displaced against
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: double teams and even base blocks. We'll see what happens
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: with Ogan Joby. But I don't really think Carter it.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: I think Carter's defensive tackle six. Right now, with Ogan
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: Joby suspended, he's defensive tackle five. So now comes down to, okay,
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: do they want to keep five defensive tackles, which they might.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: They might not feel that Walker can you know, handle
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: the workload or the reps that the defensive tackle for Ken,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: So they still want to work somebody else in, But
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: we'll see. I think it is a bit of a
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: tough spot for Carter to be in, and I really, again,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: if everybody's healthy on the interior, at best, he's defensive
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: tackle six right now, behind Ed, behind day Kwon, behind Ogan, Jobi,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: behind Sanders, behind Walker and then it's him. So yeah,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: that's six. Tough, tough, tough, tough for Dwayne Carter, but
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: a good night for Dean Walker. Again, I will say
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: Carter had a nice play tonight on the interior, shed
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: a guy, made a stop, and then he also had
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: one where he likes shed a guy and got run
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: through by the running back. So it's just tough. I
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: think he I think he's a big time cut candidate
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: if everybody's healthy and there's no suspensions on the interior,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: but there are, so we'll see. Let's go back to
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: Pop says, would you put Ula fo Show on the
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: roster that as the actual linebacker? For me, it would
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: really come down to the special team stuff, and I
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: haven't watched the special team snaps yet. I'm planning on
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: doing so going into the roster cuts this week, so
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: we'll probably get to the special team stuff over the
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: weekend and Monday and into Tuesday. But as a pure linebacker,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: no I think the top four linebackers are pretty set.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: I think it's Bernard and Milano and Dorian and Andresen,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: and then linebacker five is probably purely special team. So
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: I think it comes down to like Ulafohio or Jimmy Charlow.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: I thought Jack Thompson had a solid shot, but I
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: don't know, Like I don't even know if she got
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: banged up. I don't even remember where. He had a
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: couple of plays that were nice in camp, but I
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: don't know. I think it's tough for Ulio, even if
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: he makes it. I think it's purely special teams base.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: I don't see him as a real linebacker, not like disrespectfully,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: but I think he's more of a special teamer than
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: any special teamer than anything. So we'll see. Pete says
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Carter spent a lot of time on the ground at
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Duke two. Couldn't see the periphery. Yeah, he would get
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: knocked around a bunch, had some juice and penetration though
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: when he was playing more like two ninety five three hundred,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: not like three ten when they asked him to, which
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: is unfortunate. Robert says, Ogunjobe has been anonymous all sor Well, Yeah,
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: has been anonymous all summer, having noticed him at all,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: are we sure he should be ahead of the rookies. Yeah,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: I would. I would still put him there just from
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: a known quantity perspective, especially with how T. J. Sanders
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: and Dion Walker struggled against the run last week against Chicago,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: and that was against the first team and the second
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: team guys like they were getting displaced left and right.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: I think Ogen Jobey's gonna have similar struggles. But as
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: of right now, yeah, I would put Ogen Jobe there
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: just because we need to get the sample size and
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: we need to get the known quantity piece. But I
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: understand the sentiment, and I don't think the Ogen Jobe
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: signing was like amazing or necessarily what I wanted. But yeah,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: I would put him right there now, even though him
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: despite being different sizes and shapes, him, Sanders and Walker
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: all play a similar kind of game and have similar
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: kind of questions about themselves, which is also kind of funny,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: uh Pop saying linebacker depth start. Yeah, I kind of
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: just went through it. I think it's gonna be you know,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Bernardo Mulano, Dorian Andresen, and then we'll get a linebacker five,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: And I think that linebacker five is really more of
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: a special teams guy than actual like linebacker five. Dun
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: dun dun dun duh. Keith says, what is Sam adamsselff
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: to these days? You you you es? But I would
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: take a space eater on the interior.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: You have no idea.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: Bills are electric, saying Shack Thompson if healthy gets the
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: last linebackers, but yeah, I could see him getting that.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: But also I don't know, like how much special teams
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: is he gonna play. Could get a little messy. These
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: injuries are and suspensions are annoying and moneying everything. Pop
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: saying wish Hoy could play now. Yeah, I agree, I
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: wish I wish Hoy he could play right now too.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: He's had a good preseason and I'm excited to see
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: what kind of reinforcements he'll bring once he gets through
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: there and what he returns after week six, him and
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Ogen Joby, we'll see kind of what the interior looks
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: like at that time, what the rush looks like, what
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: they look like schematically, what they are. You know, bills
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: are electric, saying we need to get our back up
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: line and healthy. That's a sneaky one that I don't
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: think is being talked about enough. I thought the O
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: line play this preseason was rough. So yeah, I would
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: like to see Tyler Grabill get healthy and Alec Anderson
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: get healthy and SVPG get healthy because it got scary
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: a little bit at times. Band of Mark was getting
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: blown up, Lunt was getting blown up, a lot of guys. Really,
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: it's tough, tough, tough. Oh good time here from Pete
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: saying Andrews and Dorrian Williams will play team, so that
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: might help Shack. That's a fair point, right. You could
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: have him dressed as like linebacker five, knowing that Dorian
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: and Andrewson are gonna see bunch of special team snaps,
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: so we'll see. Connor says Joe Marino thinks they will
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: roster six linebackers with Shaq Thompson and Jimmy Charloie being
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: the last two. Could happen. I think a lot of
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: it's gonna for me, it's gonna be a lot of
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: a lot of like the injury conversation, I haven't done
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: the whole like roster projection, who's going where, who's doing what?
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: I think it would be five. I guess it could
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: be six, and then that means you're probably keeping one
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: less dB in some former fashion, or you found value
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: with the returner game being in somebody else will freed
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: up another spot. We'll see from a linebacker standpoint in
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: terms of what they get, what they can do. I
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: think that I was in favor of rostering more DB's
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: this year, just given the initial presence of well now
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: they're injured. But I would say Benford, Harston, Trey like
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: then again, everybody Ingram Strong, Jackson, Hancock, cam Lewis, DeMar Hamlin, Taylor, Rapp, Cole, Bishop,
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: like everybody. That kind of funnels into that. So we'll
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: see kind of how that goes. So I think you
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: can make a case for a lot of guys, but
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: I haven't done the whole like science of the roster
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: put together yet, but we will see. But good news
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: is I'll be live Tuesday night on disgui's coverage and
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: we can go through all the roster moves and projections.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: We will do that live Tuesday night, live reaction show.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: That'll be really fun to kind of talk about and
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: go through. Yeah, so the three big standouts, Bishop Shavers
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: and Dion Walker like we've talked about a bit. I
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: thought Sean Bouchelle played really good, which was nice to see.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Gore had some nice moments. Elijah Young that running back
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: looked really nice as well. Call it. I like the
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: way he finished running through some dudes to kind of
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: finish bleeding out the clock and end things. Really nice
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: moment for him. And I'm excited to get into the tape.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: I am going to the State Fair tomorrow in Syracuse,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: so I might be putting out some tape really early
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: in the morning, but mostly likely in the back end
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: of the day, so we'll see how that kind of goes.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: But I'm excited to kind of get into the tape
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: when I can get into the tape and really see
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: what the trenches look like tonight. Landa Jackson seem pretty quiet,
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: but I also thought he was quiet last week after
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: the broadcast, and then I watched the tape and he
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: had a really nice game, So I'm gonna go through
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: and see that. But I'm excited to going into the
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: tape from this game tonight and kind of see what
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: we get and what comes out of it. If anybody
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: has any final questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, feel free to
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: put them up into the chat while I read and
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: talk about the best pizza in Buffalo, New York One
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Pie Pizza. If you live in Buffalo and you have
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: not had One Pie Pizza, you're doing a disservice to yourself.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: It is the best pizza in Buffalo, New York. Sweet
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: sauce pie cup and char pepperoni, great cheese, the sauce
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: ratio when you take a bite, it's not like a
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: ton of cheese falls off. It's not messy, it's not
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: sloppy like. It's just well put together. If you get
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: a variety of toppings, veggies or anything, they'll chop them
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: up and sprinkle them evenly across the pie. They make
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: their own homemade blue cheese and it's phenomenal. They do
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: a breakfast pizza. They even do like salads and extra
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: stuff like pre made salads that are really good. They
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: also have a catering division called Elevated Catering a Buffalo.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: I have the website and the episode show notes along
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: with the One Pie website link as well. Their catering
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: division is awesome, Like they just make really good food.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: I say it every week like it's it's the easiest
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: thing to talk about and pitch because I believe in it,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: like I don't say it because they sponsor the show.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: They sponsor the show because I sincerely believe in their
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: food like it is phenomenal. And they're really good people
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: I talk about all the time. They give back to
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: the community a variety of forms and fashions, toys for tots,
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: you know, their SPCA partnerships and Generosity, partnering with the
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: Alzheimer's Foundation, partner with Roswell to try and knock out cancer.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: They just give back in a multitude and there's more.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: But they give back to the community in a city
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: in a multitude of forms and fashions, and they make
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: amazing food. So they're really good people making really good food.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: Get yourself some one PI pizza. If you don't live
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: in the Buffalo area and you come up the Buffalo
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: for a game, or you're driving through, or you're here
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: for work or business or family or whatever, get yourself
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: some one pi pizza. Sincerely, you will not be disappointed
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: in any form or fashion. They are the best pizza
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: in Buffalo. And now I'm really hungry and now I
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: want pizza. That's the one of the worst parts about
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: doing these reads. That's the only worst part, actually is
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: because my show is always late at night, and then
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, I really want some pizza now, and
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: I know they're close, which is unfortunate. Uh, don't play
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: with me like that, Nick, Nick says a Jamari call
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Well would be great on this roster. Don't take one
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: of my draft loves and do that to me. How
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: dare you, especially so late at night? But I agree
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: with you. I agree. Who whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Nathan says, get a pizza cone at the fair and
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: report back. What is a pizza cone? Is this a thing?
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: I'm not even making a joke, Like, what's a pizza cone?
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: Or is this a typo? I think is this real?
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: Somebody telling me this right right now? Because we're starting
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: to wind down. I need to answer to this. What
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: is a pizza cone? I need to know what this is.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Dennis says on defense, I'm more worried about the pass
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: rush than the run again this year, I want to
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: see what Walker looks like in this defense as a disruptor.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: I am more worried about the run. I think the
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: pass rush will be fine. I think between Ed and Oguin,
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Joby and Sanders on the interior, even Walker, I think
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: that'll be fine. I'm worried about how the interior holds
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: up against the run. I don't want Ed having to
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: work against double teams. I think he can defeat them,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: but I don't want him to because it's going to
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: wear him down. Sanders, I think, is a big question
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: mark against double team. So is Ogun Joby, so is Walker,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: and I think they're a question against the run by extension,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: because you're going to need all three of those dudes
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: to play one tech at some point or three at
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: best and or worst. And that doesn't really mean that
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: if teams just run duo and try to punch him
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: in the mouth and knock them off the ball, what
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: are they going to do. If they try to run
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: zone and wash them down the line and just play
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: some horizontally, what are they going to do? We saw
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: it already for Walker and Sanders last week against the Bears,
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: against their ones and against their twos, and it was
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: not pretty. They mitigated it the times, but they also
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: got gashed and blown off the ball a bunch. So
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: that's kind of where my question is. And then because
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: if you can't stop the run then or if you
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: can't stop the run with like a light or neutral
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: box or mitigate the success or the explosiveness out of it,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: then you have to walk a safety down like they
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: did last year, and or gap out more. And then
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: you become vulnerable because you on the back end, because
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: you're limited to certain coverages and or certain coverages become
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: more telling based on down and distance and situation. It's
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: tough to just you know, win by gapping out, or
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: it's tough to stop the run by gapping out consistently.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: So I'm still most concerned about the spine of the
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: defense against the run and then the pass rush by extension,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: you know, do they have a true edge one as
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: a rusher? What does groot look like this year? Is
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: Bosa healthy? What do they get? Is it a you know,
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: is it uh, you know kind of winning in the
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: aggregate type of deal, or does somebody take a big jump.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: So I'm concerned about the past rush a bit, but
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: that is it's a close, it's maybe not even almost
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: on one A one B. But first is the run
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: defense on the interior and in the spine. M Nix says,
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: let us know if you see make a Parson's at
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: the fair, Joey. If Trey White is out week one,
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: who do you start opposite Benford? I talked about this
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: a bit earlier. I am going with remarkus s ingram. Okay,
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: hold on, hold on, hold on what lou said Terrell
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: Owens' son just scored in the forty nine Ers preseason
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: game where all all of us are so old. Oh
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: that makes me feel so old. That's crazy.
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Bills fan seventy eight eighty three says, a pizza cone
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: is an ice cream cone. The pizza crust is the cone,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: Sauce and cheese and toppings are ice cream on the
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: inside of the cone. Is that it's for real? And
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: then Nathan says, waffle type cone with whatever pizza fixings
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: you want. So it's a cone or it's like the
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: pizza cross is the colon. I have a lot of
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: questions and now I kind of just want to get
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: it regardless. Oh, I'm really excited. Pop says if White
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: is out week one, whoever is CB two will be
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: targeted over throwing at Benford. Even if White is the starter,
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: He's gonna get thrown at. Right If Trey White starts
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: week one, whoever is opposite against Christian Benford will get
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: targeted more than Christian Benford just by extension. But if
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: Trey White starts weak one, he was on Baltimore last year.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: They know what he is, or maybe more importantly, what
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: he isn't. They're gonna throw at him a ton. So
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: whoever CB two is is gonna get targeted a bunch.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: So your comment is fair, But I think also I
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: would add to that, even if Trey starts week one,
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: he's gonna get targeted a bunch, Dennis saying, oh, I
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: meant the defensive secondary, not pass rushcotcha. I just think
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: the run defense looks different with starters like Milano in there.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: That's fair, But I think Milano and Bernard the worst
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: thing for them is not being able to penetrate and
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: shoot because the offensive line is creating displacement and knocking
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: defensive tackles back into their face and into their lap,
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: or double teams are climbing and being able to get
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: pieces of them at the second level. So I do
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: think Milana and Bernard are good enough to make the
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: interior right even if the interior is wrong. By that,
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: I mean like, if the interior guys get blown off
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: the ball, Milana and Bernard are good enough to adjust
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: and shoot and play differently and make some plays. That's
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: just a real hard way to live down in and
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: down out. But I see your point there. It's fair.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: Connor says, the Shaver's on the roster one hundred percent. Now, Yeah,
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: I think it's really tough to not have him on
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: the fifty three, not just because of tonight, but his
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: performance is preseason and during camp. Oh Bill's fan seventy
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: eighty three says, what are your Vegas odds that if
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: Trey can't go, they just go with the young guys
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: Strong and roll with it. He hasn't looked bad with
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: game planning. I like that idea best. I think he's
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: been poor against the run and not as good in
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: coverage has been made out to be. I think there's
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: a good there's a chance that it could be him.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: I think it's really kind of a crapshoot between him, Dane,
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: and JaMarcus Ingram. I'm giving the inside track to Ingram, though. Yeah.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Strong has just had some really iffy plays against the
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: run and some poor coverage reps. But I understand going
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: with the rookie. You kind of play that notion of
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: development time on task. It's not a great situation in general.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: I'm still going with Ingram, but I think Strong has
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: a chance and Dane has a chance. If Dane isn't
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: banged up like you got less or tonight, we'll kind
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: of see what that yields. Good times, good chat. I'm
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: gonna throw up the band and it says tootles, folks,
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: because we're gonna start to wind down or we're gonna
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: start to say goodbye. I want to thank Jake and
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: just the Tippy Canoe and Padden for your super chats.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: Well one for being here, but thank you very much
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: for your superchats. Icerely appreciate it. That was very awesome
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: and really cool to see. I want to thank everybody

- 1:19:17Speaker 1: too and very much appreciated. Please rate, review, and subscribe

- 1:19:32Speaker 1: Please tell your family and friends and loved ones about
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: this show, the brand, the channel, whatever have you any

- 1:19:40Speaker 1: goes in, is tremendously, tremendously appreciated and welcomed, and we

- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Thank you very much for everyone. And yeah, we will
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: be live here Tuesday evening, probably earlier than are normally
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: scheduled nine o'clock. I am looking actually two scheduling notes
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: for next week. We will be live Tuesday Night with
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: a roster reaction recap show. However, we verbalize that we're
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: going to be talking about the final row, the fifty
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: three man roster, and all that kind of stuff that'll
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: be happening Tuesday night. I'm thinking seven seven point thirty
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: something in that range. For those of you who pay
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: attention on certain shows, I have a job that deals
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: with some things overseas. I have a late night call
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: Tuesday night again, like I had a couple weeks ago,
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: So the nine o'clock spot is a little compromise. So
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: I'm thinking a live show seven seven thirty something in
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: that range Tuesday night. Then either Thursday night or Friday
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: at noon, somewhere in that range, we'll be having another
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: episode of Disgui's Coverage. A bonus episode of Disgui's Coverage
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: focused on some superlatives for the bills for the year,
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: a preview kind of who the bills are, biggest questions
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: around them, certain players and aspects to focus on. That
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: is a bonus episode that I am having a very
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: special guest on for that. I'm very excited for them
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: and that person to make another appearance on this show.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: So yeah, two episodes of Disguis coverage next week, live
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: show Tuesday night, probably seven o'clock bonus episode of Disguised coverage,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: not live being posted, being recorded offline and then posted
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: either Thursday night or Friday midday. And that's the lineup
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: schedule for Disguy's coverage next week. I hope you folks
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: tune in and join me until then, find me on
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: Twitter at Pro Underscore, Underscore AUNT that's Pro two underscores
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: an T. Find me on Blue Sky at pro ant
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: no underscores, just pro A n T. I will be
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: posting a lot of film pretty much all the time
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: of the Bills and across the entire und now that
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: we're here with preseason football and especially in the regular season.
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: And that'll be me. If you're at the State Fair
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: tomorrow and you see me, feel free to come up
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: and say, what's up. I'm gonna try that pizza cone,
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: so I better be good. Nathan. I'm really excited for it.
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: Thank you for putting me on for that, and for
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: whoever else told me about the details of I think
