- 0:00Oh my God, this is like the first 5 minutes of the podcast
- 0:03and it's like trauma dump. You said you were going to bed
- 0:05and now you're on TikTok. I'm like, yeah, I do that with
- 0:08everybody. He literally made you the
- 0:10villain. We say goodnight so we can
- 0:12squirrel. Yeah, look how cute that is.
- 0:17Happy birthday. And it's in pink.
- 0:19What flavour? Is it allegedly the best one?
- 0:38Hi, Delulu's, and welcome back to Delulu.
- 0:40We are welcoming our very first guest from across the pond.
- 0:43Your first international guest. Yeah, you are.
- 0:47Oh, my God, you should be honored.
- 0:48But he is known for his vulnerable lyrics, storytelling
- 0:51and incredible, soulful voice and music.
- 0:54Please welcome St. Harrison.
- 0:56Hi. Thank you so much for being
- 0:58here. Thank you for having me.
- 1:00And on your birthday? I know.
- 1:02Thank you, I know you are such a hustler.
- 1:04Thank you for giving me something to do.
- 1:06Well, I want to get into everything St.
- 1:07I know that you're from the UK, but you actually just recently
- 1:09told me that you've been living in LA.
- 1:12So where is Saint from? Saint is from Southampton OK, in
- 1:17which is it's like South UK Titanic OK.
- 1:22Yeah. That's like, why?
- 1:24It's like, I don't know. That's what I tell people.
- 1:26Yeah. No about Southampton.
- 1:27Yeah, that's like, where are the Titanics from?
- 1:29Yeah, that's where it went from. That's where the Parbez were
- 1:33there. Yeah.
- 1:34Oh shit, I know. Yeah, it was traumatizing.
- 1:37Oh my God, are you OK? Yeah, I'm fine.
- 1:39OK, I made it. OK, Yeah, you're good.
- 1:41You're good. You're here.
- 1:42Yeah, but yeah, South England, not London.
- 1:45But I do say London to most Americans, to be honest.
- 1:47Oh, interesting. So why did you not give me
- 1:49London? 'Cause like, you know, OK,
- 1:53there's the cameras. I have to be honest.
- 1:55OK, All right, only honesty here.
- 1:56Yeah, that is the that's the morale that we're gonna have for
- 2:00this episode. Honesty.
- 2:02Just like your music. Oh, yeah.
- 2:03OK, so you're in London, Not London.
- 2:06You're in Southampton now. I'm lying.
- 2:08I'm so sorry you're in Southampton.
- 2:10And then what was your experience like there?
- 2:13How did you end up like wanting to come down to LA?
- 2:15I always like wanted to move to Lai always wanted to move to
- 2:19America. Same.
- 2:20I think I like grew up just watching like that.
- 2:24So Raven, me too, stuff like that.
- 2:26And I just was like, I want to move here and go to school.
- 2:29Yeah. And I, yeah, I just my
- 2:33experience in Southampton was just very boring.
- 2:36Really. Yeah, I just always wanted more
- 2:39like I, I me too. I remember I wanted to move to
- 2:41London right first, and I did that you.
- 2:44Always wanted to do music. Yeah, well, yes, I wanted to do
- 2:48musical theatre first, actually. Really.
- 2:50Yeah, I know. It's so interesting.
- 2:51That is very interesting. Yeah.
- 2:53And then I did do musical theatre for a minute in school
- 2:58and then I was just like, I think I did like a year or
- 3:02nearly two years like in university for it.
- 3:06And then I was kind of ready to not do that anymore.
- 3:09Interesting, what were you like studying in the musical theatre?
- 3:12Yeah. OK, but you weren't into it?
- 3:14No. When did you like start writing
- 3:16for yourself and like deciding like you wanted to make your own
- 3:18music? Oh, probably when I was like 13.
- 3:22Oh. Interesting, that's super young.
- 3:24Yeah, yeah. Were you like, always good at
- 3:26it? I just feel like, 'cause that's
- 3:29so young that I would be like, because I started writing when I
- 3:32was, I want to say 16, but my shit was so fucking bad.
- 3:35It was like so corny and Disney. Yeah, no.
- 3:37So was mine. I remember my first song was
- 3:38called like, Stand Tall. Yeah.
- 3:41And it was like, I'm here right now, but I'm not falling down.
- 3:47Wait, that's good. Thanks.
- 3:49That was really good. Yeah, I guess it's fine, huh?
- 3:51Yeah. I was like, wait, that was super
- 3:53good. OK.
- 3:54And then you always wanted to like, you wanted to become an
- 3:57artist. So then you start pursuing it
- 3:59outside of doing the musical theater thing.
- 4:00Like, what was like kind of the switch that made you think like,
- 4:03OK, I'm going to do my own artistry.
- 4:05I remember like Oh my God this is like the first 5 minutes of
- 4:10the podcast and it's like trauma dump.
- 4:12Yeah, give it to us. I was in a safe house with my
- 4:15mom and we when we were like we first arrived and went into
- 4:20reception chasing pavements by Adele came on the radio and that
- 4:24was when I was like 12. So I'd always loved like to
- 4:28sing, but I think that was like my first kind of experience
- 4:32hearing Adele and being like, oh, wow, this just like related
- 4:37to us in a way that we didn't, I didn't expect.
- 4:39And I think it really like helped us in that moment.
- 4:43So that was definitely like the first time I was like, oh, I
- 4:45think I want to write. And then musical theatre was I
- 4:50was writing the whole time. I just, I think I didn't think
- 4:52at the time I could be an artist.
- 4:56I felt like that felt like unattainable.
- 4:58I feel like everyone feels that way, yeah.
- 4:59Honestly, yeah, it really did feel quite unattainable.
- 5:02And and I think like musical theatre, I was like, I could
- 5:05sing, I was good at acting. So I was like, this is, you
- 5:08know, a little bit easier and the government, you feel like
- 5:12that's more. Realistic for you yeah, OK, I
- 5:15understand that. I feel like a lot of artists in
- 5:16general, like, you have to, like, overcome that doubt, you
- 5:19know what I mean? Especially if it's something
- 5:20that you've been, like, wanting, like, all your life, right?
- 5:23Yeah. You kind of just have to like.
- 5:25Yeah, yeah. And I guess I, I did, I bought I
- 5:29then I didn't do that OK either. I don't think I really overcame
- 5:32it until. You're doing it now.
- 5:35I am doing it now, but it was kind of like it was very
- 5:38unexpected even when I did get into like artistry and
- 5:42songwriting. I mean, you're doing so well,
- 5:43too. Thank you.
- 5:45Yeah. And I feel like everything that
- 5:46you're doing, and especially if I want to get so deep into your
- 5:48lyric because I like. I love your writing.
- 5:51Thanks. As a writer, I love your
- 5:53writing. But I think, I think when it
- 5:55comes to like, you're in general, like the way that you
- 5:57let yourself be very vulnerable, I feel like that's something
- 5:59that I'm trying to like be a little bit more of myself too,
- 6:02just in general. But like, I was listening to
- 6:04your music and I was like, this is so crazy.
- 6:07Like it's very journalist, you know what I mean?
- 6:09And like raw and I love that. Yeah, thanks.
- 6:13I think it's that's easier to me actually.
- 6:16Yeah, than doing the the opposite thing.
- 6:19I feel like for me when I'm writing, like I write for
- 6:22myself, but then when I finish, I'm like, oh fuck, other people
- 6:25are going to see this now and like.
- 6:26I know you think about your exes.
- 6:28I'm thinking about a lot of. Things you're like, oh shit, oh.
- 6:32Shit, there are a lot of things that come into my mind when I'm
- 6:35working, but yeah, definitely. I think when I'm making music,
- 6:38it's like something I want to like.
- 6:40I, I do it for me essentially. But then I also like.
- 6:42I also want it for like everything else too.
- 6:45Yeah. You know, I think it's, I think
- 6:47that's a good way to kind of go about it though, do it for you
- 6:50and then sort of try and forget, yeah, that other people are
- 6:53going to hear it. Yeah, yeah, yes, you're right.
- 6:56Wait, do you feel like when you're writing about like a
- 6:59person or an ex, like do you get nervous that they're going to
- 7:01hear it or how do you feel like? The reception's going to be, Oh
- 7:05no, I don't really care. Really.
- 7:06Why is that? Because I just, I don't know,
- 7:11they're just not important enough right to care about
- 7:15interesting anymore. I want them to hear it, yeah.
- 7:17For me, yeah, I guess locally I kind of do too.
- 7:20You're right, yeah. Yeah, I feel like that's a, it's
- 7:22a part of like how I write. It's like I'm addressing you,
- 7:25you know, like I'm writing it for you.
- 7:27I also feel like I'm so honest to the point where I will be
- 7:30like I and I was a dickhead here, so I'm like, I'm not I'm
- 7:34allowed. Do you know what I mean?
- 7:35Yeah, I love self-awareness and lyric.
- 7:37Yeah, so I feel like I'm allowed to be like, so are you.
- 7:40Yeah, you know, absolutely. Especially when it's reflective
- 7:43like that. I think like with your new song
- 7:46Bad, I'm going to get into the lyric of it, but like when you
- 7:49open your verse talking about I wrote it down, I was trying to
- 7:52write it down myself. So you're playing victim.
- 7:57Made me out to be the villain. That's so good.
- 8:00Yeah, I really love that. Thank you.
- 8:03Where was that like line coming from?
- 8:08Oh, I I got blindsided, actually.
- 8:13And what's? That like.
- 8:14Not fun, not fun. And it was actually like this
- 8:18Bad was written at a camp with Nova Wave.
- 8:22Oh, right, that's right. That's so much fun.
- 8:23That's so amazing. And this literally happened like
- 8:272 weeks before this camp and he kind of came to me and was like,
- 8:34you don't care about me, you just care about Saint Harrison
- 8:39and like you don't have time because one night, Oh my God,
- 8:45wait, give it. Because one night I like
- 8:48literally like said I was going to bed and then I was online on
- 8:51TikTok, like fucking sue me, you know what I mean?
- 8:53I was winding down. Yeah, I was decompressing.
- 8:56Yeah. Yeah.
- 8:57Anyway. That's so dramatic.
- 8:58I know. And that kind of turned into
- 9:00like you said you were going to bed and now you're on TikTok.
- 9:03I'm like, yeah, I do that with everybody.
- 9:06Yeah, that's completely fair. I feel like everyone does that.
- 9:08He literally made you the villain.
- 9:09We say good night so we can squirrel.
- 9:12Yeah, totally. Anyway, so that's kind of where
- 9:15that came from. And I think there was a lot of
- 9:16other things that was said that I was just like, I feel like
- 9:21you're making me to be a bad person because you just want out
- 9:25and like that's fine, but don't make me feel like I'm terrible.
- 9:29Oh, and I love that. OK, now I'm understanding the
- 9:31song a little bit more too, because you're saying you should
- 9:32have been bad. Right.
- 9:33So then after that I was like, Oh well, I should have just done
- 9:36everything. You know that you claim I was so
- 9:40terrible. Yes, everything that they said
- 9:42exactly. Yeah, I get that.
- 9:44Oh my God, I love. That I love.
- 9:45Should have left your ass when I still have the chance.
- 9:47Yeah, exactly. That's such a great song.
- 9:49The song is coming out on January 14th, which is next
- 9:52week, so we're super excited to stream it.
- 9:55I think like out of everything that I've listened from you,
- 9:59that is hands down my favorite. You like it.
- 10:02It's just like really cutting, you know?
- 10:05I, I like, love lyric like that too.
- 10:07Yeah, I think I needed to to do something like that.
- 10:10I feel like I'm always like heartbroken myself.
- 10:14So it was nice to like, give it back a little bit.
- 10:17Yes. No, seriously, yeah, I like, I
- 10:19like lyric. That's like very, I, I guess
- 10:23cutting. I like cutting lyrics, like, I
- 10:26like things that are like very like pointed.
- 10:28I like things that are like very, like this is how you made
- 10:31me feel. This is how I'm feeling now, so.
- 10:33Yeah, me too. That's why I resonate a lot with
- 10:35Bad. I also really love Ghosted.
- 10:37Thank you. So Ghosted is incredible too.
- 10:39The music video that was so. Crazy and intense.
- 10:41I'm like. Wait, whose idea was that?
- 10:45I was I Honestly, I'm going to be so real of you.
- 10:47I couldn't even finish it. I got so squeaky.
- 10:48Were you scared? Yes.
- 10:50Yeah, I love that because. I didn't understand it first
- 10:52because I was like, oh, you have a tattoo on your forehead
- 10:55because you had the incision. Yeah.
- 10:57And then I was like, kept going. And I was like, oh, this is
- 10:59getting like, very body horror. So I was like.
- 11:03I love. That I'm going to let it be, but
- 11:05yeah, yeah. At first I was like, oh, Moody.
- 11:07What a Moody music video. And then I was like, wait, this
- 11:09is. Getting scary.
- 11:10This is kind of freaky. Yeah, a little bit, yeah.
- 11:11I, I, I'd always wanted to do something that was like, I love
- 11:16like American Horror Story and I love Ryan Murphy and I love,
- 11:19like you. Gotta build your own world in it
- 11:21too. Yeah, it was so cool.
- 11:23And I think like ghosted just like allowed that sort of like
- 11:28visual to come to life. Yeah.
- 11:30And it was just something I, I just like, I've always been so
- 11:34like attracted to that aesthetic and, and those kind of visuals.
- 11:38And I was just like, fuck it, why not?
- 11:39And I want to, you know, continue to be in scary things.
- 11:43Wait, is ghosted and bad? Are they both on this upcoming
- 11:46project? Yeah.
- 11:47OK. Because I feel like the world
- 11:48that you're building with that, it feels so like dark.
- 11:51I know we've lost a friend who's very introspective and Moody,
- 11:54but I feel like this is going in a different direction where it's
- 11:56like, you know, like a little bit like a Slytherin era, a
- 11:58little villain arc. I think it I think it's gonna
- 12:04yeah, there is some of that in there it.
- 12:07Feels that way. I mean I haven't heard the rest
- 12:09yet and would love to hear it but.
- 12:10If you look, I'm going to play with you after this.
- 12:12I'm so funny. Excited.
- 12:13Thank you. On your birthday, yeah.
- 12:15Thank you, thank you, Thank you. Happy birthday, Ryan.
- 12:17OH. Thank you so much.
- 12:18I appreciate it. Yeah, I'm a Sagittarius, so.
- 12:21Wait, what actually star sign are you?
- 12:22I'm a Virgo, OH. That's interesting.
- 12:25Why would you have guessed that? I guess if I had after this hour
- 12:31or so probably. OK, OK, OK.
- 12:34Wait, do we like Virgos? As friends.
- 12:38What's that mean? Just as friends, I like Virgos.
- 12:40You want to date a. Virgo I have before.
- 12:43Oh, wait. Actually, I actually used to
- 12:46live with two Virgo girls and I really loved them.
- 12:50So I think it's just Virgo men. OK, But just because you're too,
- 12:54I don't. Are you too organized?
- 12:56You know? I'm very organized.
- 12:57Yeah, and it's too much. Do you like?
- 12:59Tauruses. I lived with Tauruses.
- 13:01I don't know if I know many tourists, but it's just Virgos
- 13:05and just like I'm not like I'm not organized enough for that
- 13:10really. I don't that's and I can't be.
- 13:12That is something that bothers me so much when people are like
- 13:14not organized or they're like all over the place.
- 13:17So they're very like type B. Yeah, it's exactly that's what I
- 13:19mean. I bother you.
- 13:21That's that's no, they don't bother me.
- 13:23I would, though. That's the real, that's that's
- 13:25what I'm saying is like the only reason I can't with Virgo men is
- 13:28because they don't like me because I'm too like I'm too
- 13:31like 1:00 means 3:00. I don't know.
- 13:35Like I don't know I will. You're shaking right now.
- 13:37I would hate you so, yeah. No I know this is what I'm
- 13:40saying. Like I buy like air pods I lose
- 13:43them one week after I don't know where anything is.
- 13:46I'm I'm a mess. That is literally him.
- 13:48He's. I'm literally a mess.
- 13:50He's a mess. Yeah, this is Nathan Sands is
- 13:52off camera. He's such like, it's literally
- 13:55that what you said about one being three.
- 13:56Yeah, like. No, seriously, I will literally
- 13:59I will show you my purchase history on Apple.
- 14:02It's I must have bought so many Airpods.
- 14:05Oh shit, yeah. Oh my gosh.
- 14:07OK, we need to get you an air tag.
- 14:08Yeah, for the air. I've lost that.
- 14:11How do you lose that? I don't know, it just like stops
- 14:14working, doesn't it? After a minute.
- 14:16Yeah, they do. I think I put one in my suitcase
- 14:19and no. No, no, don't enable each other.
- 14:23They really do stop working. Okay, yeah, it's just like I
- 14:26can't. Find anything in my life, well
- 14:28my sanity but like other than that.
- 14:30Do you never have those moments where you're like, Oh my God,
- 14:34that jacket that I bought like 6 months ago, where is that I
- 14:37have? No idea.
- 14:38I know exactly where it is. Yeah.
- 14:40No idea. No, I like very rarely lose
- 14:42things. I'm like, very meticulous about
- 14:43everything. Yeah, so you would be mad at me
- 14:45if I lost something? Really.
- 14:47Is it your thing or my thing? Probably yours.
- 14:50Oh, I'll be. Probably.
- 14:51I would like I'm the type of person to be like, oh, can I
- 14:53borrow those sunglasses for this thing?
- 14:56And then I can't find them so I have to buy new ones.
- 14:59Right, right, right, right. I have lost many sunglasses.
- 15:03Me me personally have not lost but have loomed out sunglasses
- 15:05that haven't lost. Exactly.
- 15:07OK. Yeah, fair.
- 15:08OK. We shouldn't date.
- 15:09That that's why I say as that friends.
- 15:11OK, yeah, as homies. As homies.
- 15:13Got it. OK, we'll stay homies.
- 15:15OK, that's fine. We love that.
- 15:16We love that. Well, let's talk about Homies I.
- 15:19Love that song, thank you. So is this about like a
- 15:21relationship that you were in and you were like, you started
- 15:24as friends and then you were like, we should have just stayed
- 15:26friends? This was actually the, like
- 15:29crazy timing sort of song because this is the first song
- 15:32that I did. This is the only song that I've
- 15:36ever did that I didn't write. And it was written by what?
- 15:39Yeah, It was written by an amazing songwriter called Blush.
- 15:42And it was very early on into this process of me trying to
- 15:46figure out what Lost a Friend was and what the first project
- 15:50looked like. And she sent it through and it
- 15:54was. I was literally going through
- 15:57the same situation and I was kind of like surprised because I
- 16:02love writing songs so much. So I was like, you know, I
- 16:05didn't. I kind of was like, Oh no, I
- 16:07don't want to take any songs from because I just like.
- 16:10I'm actually so surprised to hear that, but you didn't write.
- 16:13That, but I think when a song comes along that is just like so
- 16:17incredible and for me I was like, Oh my, this just hits so
- 16:21much like I cried when I first. Listened to a powerful song?
- 16:24And then again, it was like, you know, I don't think it's ever a
- 16:28done deal when stuff like that happens.
- 16:30I think you record it, I recorded it, I sang it, and then
- 16:34you sit with it and then you just see if it makes sense.
- 16:38But I think it's like I wanted this career of an artist so bad
- 16:46growing up so that I I don't think I will ever be close
- 16:50minded to anything. So do you like, you consider
- 16:54yourself more like as an artist and like as a writer?
- 16:56Because I know writing is very prominent for you.
- 16:58I think, I think where I'm at now, yeah, I would say that I am
- 17:02like a writer and an artist good, for sure.
- 17:05But I think it's so hard because I like, I used to love writing
- 17:09songs when I was a teenager. OK.
- 17:11But I'd write like one a year or two a year.
- 17:14Currently or as? A team no not anymore oh OK OK
- 17:17OK when I when I was a when I was a teen a.
- 17:20Little thought. Yeah, OK.
- 17:22So when I got into this industry and I started writing, I'd never
- 17:27written on that scale before. I'd never done like four
- 17:31sessions a week or, you know, like and I and I was, I was came
- 17:35to LA and I was doing that. So it was a massive, like a
- 17:38massive learning process. Like actually like.
- 17:41There's got to be. Yeah, like being in rooms with
- 17:44people and songwriters and just like learning from them, because
- 17:47I'd never collaborated with anyone.
- 17:49Before. That, you know, and it really
- 17:52taught me so, so, so much. And I think that whole
- 17:56experience I'm so grateful for because a lot of songs, I mean,
- 18:00most of the songs that are coming out now, I wrote by
- 18:02myself. I don't think I ever could have
- 18:05done that for Project 1. Interesting.
- 18:08Yeah. Yeah, I'm working on my own
- 18:09project right now and I feel like I've written everything
- 18:11myself for most of my life and like I'm trying to collaborate
- 18:15more now and I feel like it's like pulling tea for me, like.
- 18:18Really. Well, just like when it when
- 18:19other people have ideas and I'm like I, my first instincts,
- 18:23like, no, it wasn't my idea, so I don't want it.
- 18:25But then I'm like, OK, we'll see.
- 18:26And then it ends up being better.
- 18:28So I mean, I'd like good sessions, yeah.
- 18:30With like Co writers and stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:34Like songs you like? Love, love these songs.
- 18:36Yeah, Absolutely. Super, super love.
- 18:38I don't even know if I would ever take, like, I feel like I
- 18:41would never take a pitch song. I feel like I would have to
- 18:44write it. Yeah.
- 18:45And even if I write it, I'd have to write it with the intention
- 18:48of writing it for me, I think. Yeah.
- 18:50So I don't know. I'm.
- 18:52I'm experimenting with what that looks like and what that feels
- 18:54like though. It's interesting and I think
- 18:56like it is about finding the right people and the right
- 19:01collaborators and just like going, you know, not being too
- 19:05hard on yourself or it's. Really hard finding the right
- 19:08people to work with genuinely. I feel like people it's also
- 19:11scary to be vulnerable with like Lyric and then finding people
- 19:14like to share that with and people who can understand it and
- 19:17also people who know your voice. And yeah, I think that could be
- 19:20really like, it's like dating. Yeah, it's exactly like dating.
- 19:24Exactly like dating. Yeah, yeah, it's hard.
- 19:27It's hard. But I think when you find those
- 19:29people that you're just like, sometimes it's in like the 1st
- 19:3210 minutes and sometimes it's like the third session or the
- 19:354th time you work with them, you're like, no, actually they,
- 19:38they, they get it. They're like starting to get it,
- 19:40you know, because they have to, they have to get understand a
- 19:43lot, you know, they have to really know you.
- 19:46And like, yes, the people I work with, I've worked with, you
- 19:49know, 4 or so years now and is. It like the same people.
- 19:54Yeah, a lot of the same people in Project 2 and there's not
- 19:58many of them, but you know, like Boy Matthews, for example, he he
- 20:03wrote Ego Talking with me and like he's on like a few of these
- 20:07new songs that are coming out, but he just like gets me now,
- 20:10you know what I mean? It takes like. 20 minutes to
- 20:13write a song together because he just knows, like he knows my
- 20:16voice. He knows what I want to say.
- 20:17Yeah. He knows if I'm like, Oh my God,
- 20:19this fucking situation happened. And he knows like, yeah, how to,
- 20:23you know, And I think it's that's so like.
- 20:25That's really nice to hear, honestly.
- 20:26It's really nice to have. I love the craft of like, making
- 20:28music in general and like writing.
- 20:30So it's just like, that's yeah, that's nice to hear.
- 20:33Yeah. I was like, this is the first
- 20:35time I've ever like have been collaborating.
- 20:37I was in this music program. We had to make a song like every
- 20:39week and it was just like kind of intense.
- 20:42But yeah. Yeah.
- 20:43It's. Draining too.
- 20:44It's draining. Yeah, for sure You have.
- 20:46To dig deep. Yeah, you do.
- 20:48And then you have to like, think about like, what do I want to
- 20:49say this time? Like what I want to write about,
- 20:51you know? But a lot of like the music I'm
- 20:53putting out has come from that, so.
- 20:56I'm excited to hear it. Oh my.
- 20:57God, I'm gonna play for you. I.
- 20:58Can't wait. We can have a drink, have a
- 21:00little cocktail. Buck OK, let's do it.
- 21:03Any excuse to drink? How?
- 21:05Yeah. Oh my God.
- 21:06Literally I was like, do you wanna?
- 21:07Do you wanna drink? It's your birthday.
- 21:08And like, maybe after I was like, OK, I I like that you talk
- 21:14about drinking in your music, though.
- 21:16I love lyric about. I love a drink.
- 21:18Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I love writing about
- 21:21drinking. I just feel like it's so human.
- 21:23I know. Me too.
- 21:25Yes, it's OK. It's, you know, OK, It's OK.
- 21:28Yeah, I don't love that when you mentioning you're putting in
- 21:31songs. I also feel like it builds like
- 21:32the scene of like, what's going on, how are you feeling?
- 21:34You know what I mean? Which I just I really love.
- 21:37So I know a lot of like your inspirations and icons that
- 21:41because you want to be an icon, you just want to be an artist.
- 21:43Oh. Of course.
- 21:44I so got that. I love that I feel like you are
- 21:46an icon. Thank you.
- 21:47Yeah, that's very sweet. I mean, you're kind of like
- 21:49slaying really hard. I think everything about you is
- 21:52like so deeply interesting. And I think your music is like
- 21:55something that people connect so deeply to.
- 21:57So with your song, why didn't you call?
- 22:01You talked about it before where you're like, you felt like it
- 22:03was a silly thing to write about.
- 22:04Maybe people wouldn't necessarily.
- 22:05And then people ended up really relating.
- 22:07But like, for me, I also spiral really hard off of like
- 22:11Nothingness. Yeah, like, I get it.
- 22:13And I really love that song too. Yeah, me too.
- 22:16I spiral very hard. Yeah, a lot of time.
- 22:19It's definitely something I'm trying not to do.
- 22:22What do you do when you do like end up there?
- 22:24I just I start writing, I start musing.
- 22:26I honestly like watch Disney movies or like watch friends or
- 22:30something. Oh, you want to get your mind
- 22:32off of? It.
- 22:32No, I can't even like I can write about it like the next day
- 22:37in the moment when I'm spiraling.
- 22:39Are you joking? I can't, no.
- 22:41I will whip my phone out and I'll start.
- 22:43No, I FaceTime my best friend and I'm like, Oh my God, yeah.
- 22:46You're probably, you're probably a lot healthier than me,
- 22:48honestly. No, I'm terrible.
- 22:50No, I'm terrible. I really I really.
- 22:53Why do you think that? Because I will.
- 22:55I really like think the most like untrue things when I'm in
- 22:59that like spiral. Statement you got me too.
- 23:01Like the why didn't you cool song like it that really like
- 23:04scratches the surface of like someone not calling me back and
- 23:07I'm being like, Oh my God, they died.
- 23:09Yeah. Literally, that's where.
- 23:10You went yeah, No, I'm, yeah. And I in the moment when I'm
- 23:15just, like, spiraling like that and I can't get out of my head
- 23:18and the walls are closing in and I'm about to die myself.
- 23:22I can't pick up a pen. Interesting.
- 23:24Yeah, Yeah. I feel like when I'm in those
- 23:25moments, that's what I have to do.
- 23:27No, that's good. That's good that you have an
- 23:29outlet though, because that's like you can channel, you can
- 23:32channel it. That's what I need to do.
- 23:34I mean, you're channeling it just like the next day.
- 23:36Yeah. And it's coming out so
- 23:38incredible. Wait for this next project.
- 23:40You, you wrote all of this, but you said it's majority, majority
- 23:43of it by yourself. Yeah, majority of it by myself.
- 23:46And then there's a couple songs that I wrote, Nova Wave I wrote
- 23:50Bad with a couple I wrote with Boy Matthews.
- 23:54I don't want to leave anyone out, but I have a one of those
- 24:00brains that does that. Yeah, the Type E thing, yeah,
- 24:04it's understandable. So with this next project, with
- 24:07your first project, like what would you say is different going
- 24:09into making project #2 versus lost a friend?
- 24:13Oh wow. A lot, a lot in terms of growth
- 24:18and comfortability with me. And I, I feel like I just
- 24:24trusted myself so much more. I love that there was so many
- 24:28times when I was doing like I lost a friend and I didn't know
- 24:33sort of I didn't trust that what I was able to give was good.
- 24:39And I remember like when when the ego, the colors thing of ego
- 24:46came out, the colour and the day before, I think we got like the
- 24:50final video to like look over and check and everything.
- 24:52And I remember like messaging my team and being like, oh God, I
- 24:56think we need to pull it. I sound awful.
- 24:58Like this is this is terrible. I don't sound good.
- 25:01I'm not doing the Rif properly. I'm not.
- 25:03And I think a lot of that has subsided now.
- 25:08OK, you have more confidence in self as an artist and your voice
- 25:11coming into the next project. Yeah.
- 25:13Yeah. And I kind of have proven to
- 25:15myself that I can, you know, I can do it and I can write songs
- 25:19that mean something to me and kind of mean stuff to other
- 25:25people, too. So yeah, just a lot more like
- 25:27confidence and like trust. I think that doubt was so
- 25:31natural for every artist though. Like I think that's where I'm
- 25:35that to where I'm like when I'm working my thing, I'm like, am I
- 25:38even a good writer? This is hard, isn't?
- 25:40It it's hard, Yeah, definitely. I always say that it's so hard
- 25:44when you're the artist and you're the person writing it.
- 25:46Because we hear songs often. I'll be like, God, this song is
- 25:51amazing. I wish I wrote that.
- 25:52Oh my God. Yeah.
- 25:53But we hear songs as like a final product, right?
- 25:57Yes. Exactly.
- 25:58But when we're doing it, we're like, we're making it from
- 26:00scratch. We're like doing the melodies,
- 26:02we're doing the lyrics, we're listening to the production
- 26:05change and evolve. So I I think like we'll never
- 26:08hear our own stuff as finished, finished.
- 26:11We'll never hear like you're. Like one of our songs so well,
- 26:13like it's exactly that. That's.
- 26:14How I feel because you'll just never hear it for the first time
- 26:17it. Doesn't even exist yet.
- 26:18You know what I mean? Like as it's being built out,
- 26:20it's like, OK, where am I imagining this going?
- 26:22And like, etcetera. And like, what do I want to say?
- 26:23What do I want to change? I'm like a huge tweaker when it
- 26:26goes to like my writing. Oh, are you?
- 26:28Yes, I'll come back all the time.
- 26:29I'll be like, let me change this one word.
- 26:30Let me really do this a little bit differently.
- 26:32Yes. Oh, you're a Virgo?
- 26:33Yeah. It makes so much sense.
- 26:34Yeah. At some point I think I just
- 26:36need to be like, you know, I just.
- 26:38Leave it alone. I'm the opposite.
- 26:41Yeah. I'm like, if you don't like
- 26:42Lyric, fuck off. I don't care.
- 26:44Oh my God. It's staying, right?
- 26:46I just can't. I haven't got time.
- 26:47I kind of like that. I wish I was more like that I
- 26:49think. I think there's something.
- 26:51When I write for other people, I'll write like.
- 26:53When I write for other people, I'm like, OK there.
- 26:55And then if they don't like, I'm like OK, I'll go back.
- 26:58But otherwise I'm like, I like that.
- 27:00Do you find that writing for other people is easier?
- 27:03Or do you? I think it's easier to write for
- 27:06you. It's way easier to write for me
- 27:07because I think when I'm writing for me, it's like a stream of
- 27:09consciousness and I know exactly what I want to say and I like
- 27:11being very specific. So I like to pinpoint very
- 27:14specific things. And I can only do that in my
- 27:16head. Whereas like I'm writing for
- 27:18other people. It's like I feel like I have to
- 27:20be a little bit more ambiguous to cover like the bases for
- 27:22them. And also like when I write for
- 27:23other people, I look at it where I'm like, this has to be
- 27:25relatable and universal. So like if they put it out,
- 27:28people could relate to it. Whereas for me, when I write,
- 27:30it's like, I honestly don't think anyone could relate.
- 27:33And I don't even want them to relate because I think I'm
- 27:35writing it for me from my experience.
- 27:37But I'm working with an artist right now and we're like, we're
- 27:40really, really close friends. And I feel like when I write for
- 27:42him, I can access the same way where I write for myself because
- 27:45I know his story really well and I know, like, what he wants to
- 27:48say really well. Yeah.
- 27:49Well, having those doubts as an artist, like, again, completely
- 27:51normal. But you have, like, so much
- 27:54support from other artists like I have here.
- 27:56You have cosines from Justin Bieber, Sizza, Jasmine Sullivan,
- 28:02HER, her Elton John. That's so crazy.
- 28:07How do you feel about that? Overwhelmed.
- 28:10Elton John especially. I mean all of them, obviously.
- 28:13I mean, you're on Elton John's podcast.
- 28:14Yes, yeah. And he also just, like,
- 28:17Facetimes me to check in. That's crazy.
- 28:19I know. And I just.
- 28:21I lose my mind every time. And he's just a legend.
- 28:24Yeah. An icon.
- 28:25And he was just like, he was in my house.
- 28:28Not actually in my house, but like, right.
- 28:30You know, when I was growing up, his voice, his music.
- 28:33Oh, OK. I was like.
- 28:35I know I was like, I was like, why do you look so confused?
- 28:37Well, I was like, oh, like you lived.
- 28:39There, before he was, he lived in my house.
- 28:42That's. Awesome.
- 28:43Yeah, like you know, my my family and wait.
- 28:45So like, this is when you idolize, and now it's like,
- 28:47yeah. That's crazy.
- 28:49He's amazing and you should work together.
- 28:51I know I really want to do it. Last time, last time he called
- 28:55me, I said I I have something to talk to you about because you
- 28:58know, that's how like the Brits do it.
- 28:59You know what I mean? We we kind of be around the Bush
- 29:01a little bit. Totally.
- 29:02So I was like, I've got something to tell you.
- 29:06And he was like, wow, what is it?
- 29:07And I was like, I'll talk to you about it later.
- 29:09Oh, you're so annoying I. Know.
- 29:11I know. Oh, he's gonna.
- 29:13Yeah, I would. Hate you.
- 29:14I know. I feel like just tell me, right?
- 29:15If I can now, actually, I'm so guilty of that.
- 29:18I do that all the time too. Like I'm bad at it, actually.
- 29:21Yeah. Yeah.
- 29:21So you know what? We're fine.
- 29:23It's it's equal. Yeah.
- 29:24You need to work with him. That'd be so sick.
- 29:26It'd be amazing. I would really love to and.
- 29:28What did Justin Bieber say about you?
- 29:29Justin Oh, Justin really was just massive support right from
- 29:36the beginning. He I think when I, I teased why
- 29:40didn't you call? Which was like the first time I
- 29:41ever put out and he shared it. And then after the album, the
- 29:46album, after the project came out, I did my first show in LA
- 29:51and he came to the show and he's just always been supportive and
- 29:56just amazing. And I think he does like, he
- 29:59does this where he just like really backs and cheerleads for
- 30:04like new artists that he really likes.
- 30:07And I think that's just very sick.
- 30:09Yeah, especially for a stature and where he is in his career,
- 30:11Like I love that because I'm really into like being
- 30:14supportive of other artists and just people in general, like,
- 30:16you know, yeah. I agree there is room for
- 30:19everyone. Definitely.
- 30:20I think it is so important to just like, you know, just
- 30:24support. Everyone knows how hard it is,
- 30:26and I think it's yeah, it's really nice when you see people
- 30:29see artists do it. Yeah, absolutely.
- 30:31I think it's inspiring to, like to watch other artists and their
- 30:34art, especially for me, it's with other people's music if
- 30:37it's like vastly different than what I'm working on.
- 30:39And like, I find that inspiring. It's like, I love that everyone
- 30:41has their like sound and like their own project that they're
- 30:44working on and like the things that they're doing.
- 30:46Who do you like right now? Who you listening to?
- 30:49Well, because I'm in like the thick of trying to make my own
- 30:51project right now. I think I've been heavily
- 30:53leaning into my inspirations for it, which are like Bonnie McKee,
- 30:56Bonnie Mckee's albums, a huge one on the mood board.
- 30:59Carly Rae Jepsen, been listening to her a lot.
- 31:00Selena Gomez who? Else so just pop bangers.
- 31:05Kinda hopefully. Fingers crossed you love that.
- 31:09Something along those lines. I've been listening to Ella
- 31:11Henderson. Oh yeah.
- 31:12Yeah, recently new Ella Henderson.
- 31:14Kinda ish. I think her last album, like the
- 31:17Things I Didn't say, that's on the mood board right now.
- 31:21Tovlo has been on there Foxes. Like I don't know, I'm bouncing.
- 31:25I've been going on like 4 hour drives every night to Santa
- 31:28Monica. I just tried to Santa Monica.
- 31:30Why? To listen to music because I'm
- 31:32trying to find like I'm trying to figure out my Sonic identity
- 31:35and what I want to do and like what I, I know what I want to
- 31:37say, but I'm like, what is it? You're doing the research.
- 31:39Hella research and I'm like listening to my favorite albums,
- 31:42like top to bottom and like thinking, hey, what made this a
- 31:44cohesive album? What made this a strong album?
- 31:46Why do I like this album? You know, I love projects like
- 31:48that. My friend Nathan, he has his
- 31:52project, it's also really great. So I've been listening to that
- 31:56too, and just like trying to study, listening to the other
- 32:01artists I write with, which is Miko, his music.
- 32:03So just trying to find inspiration over the place.
- 32:06I've been loving Lily Kincaid's cinematic album, super
- 32:09incredible. What are your favorite albums?
- 32:11Whatever ever. Oh God, that's hard.
- 32:14Is it hard? It's hard because it's hard.
- 32:17Right now, it's not that hard, but it's hard right now because
- 32:20I've been, I've been making an effort, kind of like you, to
- 32:24listen to new albums, stuff that I haven't heard.
- 32:27So I'm very in Lily Allen's album right now.
- 32:32I haven't. Heard that one.
- 32:33Yet it's fucking amazing. I've always been Lily Allen fan,
- 32:36but. I love Lily Allen.
- 32:37This album is so good. I've been listening to Odile.
- 32:44I've been listening to you know who's album I really like?
- 32:48Addie Rae Addison. Yeah, it's so good.
- 32:51I really loved that album. What's your favorite on that
- 32:53album? Times like these, it's what's
- 32:58that song called? Sounds like these.
- 32:59Yeah, that one. I'm bad with titles because I
- 33:03just put the songs on in the car, really.
- 33:06Oh my God, we're so opposite. I need to know everything about
- 33:08everything. Like I need to know the title,
- 33:09who produced it, who wrote it, where'd it come from?
- 33:12Like I love details. I've been listening to a lot of
- 33:14my own project too, like. Yeah, I do that.
- 33:16Yeah, yeah. I think when I put things out,
- 33:18I'll probably be like my top artist on Spotify for the raft,
- 33:21you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:22That was my top podcast, Yeah. That's that's healthy.
- 33:26OK, good. I mean, I'm just like, I'm just
- 33:28trying to figure it out and like this is the thing I'm the most
- 33:30excited about right now is just the music.
- 33:31So I'm so excited to play for you.
- 33:34Are you excited for me? I'm.
- 33:35Excited to hear yours, I want to play it for you.
- 33:37Too. I know I'm excited to hear
- 33:38yours. OK, we're, we're going to get
- 33:40into it this next project. So this is project #2 You're not
- 33:44defining this as an album though.
- 33:45It's not You're gonna. It's not your debut album.
- 33:47No. When are we imagining a debut?
- 33:53Sometime soon. Soon.
- 33:56Yeah, ish soon ish. Like anywhere between like 1 to
- 34:00like 6 years. Right.
- 34:02That's a, that's a realistic timeline.
- 34:04I don't know. Yeah, that's fair.
- 34:06Yeah. I think with the project you're
- 34:07putting out, I'm in this day and age like 20252026.
- 34:11I really like when our research is dropping like EPS, you know
- 34:15what I mean? Yeah, me too.
- 34:17Yeah. I think I just enjoy a a project
- 34:22that's like thought through. Like this is like going back to
- 34:25like Lily Allen's album. Like totally.
- 34:27I listen. I've I've had a time.
- 34:29In nine days. It really.
- 34:31I think she sung that. No way.
- 34:32Yeah, wow. Isn't that?
- 34:34Crazy. I need to do a nine day album.
- 34:36Now that that is crazy. I could never do that.
- 34:40But it's like a story. Yeah.
- 34:41And it's just like, and I just love that she's like, she's been
- 34:44gone for so long and then she she went through some shit and,
- 34:46and she like she wrote I. Fucking just love that.
- 34:49Yes, I really like that. I enjoy it, yeah.
- 34:52And just like the boner, really. I haven't heard it yet but like
- 34:54I've seen seen a lot of press around it.
- 34:56Yeah, you know, I haven't heard the Madeleine song.
- 34:58No, like who the fuck is Madeleine that in?
- 35:00It no choose us on SNLI need to. Go oh so good.
- 35:04Really. Yeah.
- 35:05OK. I'm a huge fan.
- 35:06I don't know why I haven't. You would love Lily.
- 35:08You like, you would love her old albums, too.
- 35:11Yeah, I love because she's just like, such a pop Princess.
- 35:13Yes. The fear.
- 35:14Is like No Fear is so good, so good.
- 35:17I love that one. I love her.
- 35:18She's this album 2014. That one's really good.
- 35:21That one felt more pop leaning. I know she hates it but like.
- 35:24Yeah, I don't, I don't love it, but I do like it's not the Fear
- 35:27album and the one before the first one.
- 35:30It's not you, it's me, it's not me, it's you.
- 35:32The album, Sure. Wait, the one where she's on a
- 35:35motorbike? All right, still.
- 35:36That one, her debut. Which one is not me?
- 35:38Oh, it's not me. Is is the one the fear is on.
- 35:41That's where the fear is on. That one's so good.
- 35:43That's a really good. One.
- 35:44That one is so good. She's an incredible writer.
- 35:46Yeah, she is. Yeah.
- 35:47I like to have teller story. She's a real storyteller.
- 35:50Yeah, that's what I look for. An artist is like storytelling.
- 35:52Yeah. And I love that.
- 35:53Yeah. I think a lot of artists they
- 35:57like, I mean, I don't see a lot of artists.
- 35:59Artists I like are people where I'm like, I listen deeply to the
- 36:02lyric. And if the lyric is something
- 36:04that's like something that makes sense to me, doesn't even have
- 36:06to be something I relate to, But if it's something that I'm like,
- 36:08oh, this is so fucking good. Like I like what you're saying.
- 36:10That's when I really like an artist.
- 36:12So I want to piggyback. I want to jump back to BAD
- 36:15because I really do love that song.
- 36:17This is the second single off of the project then.
- 36:19Yeah. OK, So what made you decided to
- 36:22release Ghosted and Bad as the first offerings from this
- 36:24project? Ghosted I felt had kind of, it
- 36:30was just, it felt like a natural starting point.
- 36:32I remember like making the project and kind of going
- 36:36through, I don't know, seven different kind of orders and
- 36:42putting songs in, taking songs out.
- 36:45And I had a like a album in February 24 that I I ended up
- 36:56not using a lot of this from pretty much a lot of stuff, but
- 37:02Ghosted was the song. OK, that survived.
- 37:05That remained OK, I think. I think I might be the only one
- 37:08that did. No, no, bad.
- 37:11Bad was from that time too. Oh, this was probably gonna be a
- 37:14really good album. Ghosted and bad were good, yeah.
- 37:17Oh yeah, OK. They are really good.
- 37:19Yeah, We have a lot of similar lyric sensibilities, actually.
- 37:22Oh yeah. Yeah, I love Ghosted.
- 37:25I wrote it down somewhere. I can't find it.
- 37:27I don't want to fuck up the lyrics, but it's if you can't
- 37:32love me, you should have ghosted me.
- 37:34Yeah, if it's so hard just loving me, it's so.
- 37:36Hard, just loving. Me.
- 37:37I'd much rather you ghosted me. Yeah, I love that.
- 37:39That's really genius. Thank you.
- 37:41So where'd? That come from.
- 37:42It was just very rare. I was just having this kind of
- 37:45situation. There was a lot of like excuses
- 37:48and, you know, just a lot of bull.
- 37:51And I was kind of like, just just stop texting me, you know
- 37:55what I mean? Do.
- 37:55You feel like it's easier? Do you ghost people?
- 37:58Yeah, I can. Oh, what's?
- 38:01The it's the laughing over here. No, wait, I'm just.
- 38:04Laughing. I I can.
- 38:07You air people. Yeah, is that bad?
- 38:12No, I love ghosting people. That's toxic.
- 38:16Is it toxic? I think so.
- 38:19I'll defend my position on this. So I like to OK, so The thing is
- 38:23is like I feel like I'm a nice person so sometimes I just don't
- 38:28want to upset someone. So I feel like if I just go
- 38:30missing, you have no idea why. And maybe that's like less
- 38:34upsetting than me being like, I don't like you anymore.
- 38:37Wouldn't it be arguably more upsetting to not have an
- 38:40explanation? I mean, you know, I feel like we
- 38:43could debate back and forth for a long time.
- 38:44I'm a huge fan of Ghost. On this one.
- 38:46Just do it, fuck. It but I think so sometimes and
- 38:49I think like I would, I'm saying I would rather that than you'd
- 38:53be like, oh, oh, I really wanted to drive up this weekend, but I
- 38:57can't because I mean and is do you know what I mean?
- 39:00Like an excuse? Yeah, like what about the truth?
- 39:04Oh yeah, yeah. I mean, I guess it's
- 39:07situational. Yeah.
- 39:09Yeah. Yeah, I don't know.
- 39:11Sometimes I'm like just. Leave me alone, do.
- 39:14I like being ghosted. No, I can't start.
- 39:16My anxiety is through the roof. I hate it.
- 39:18Oh, right, it's. I think that's why I can ghost
- 39:20as well. It's because I'm too anxious to
- 39:22be like, you know, you know how people are like, Oh yeah.
- 39:26Like I went on a date and then I was like I texted him and saying
- 39:29like oh like really enjoyed myself but like just didn't feel
- 39:32a spark how I've. Never experienced.
- 39:35That do you always feel a spark? Oh I mean I've never had someone
- 39:39tell me that, but do always feel a spark.
- 39:40I never feel a spark. Yeah, I know.
- 39:42I like it's rare you. Don't like people?
- 39:43Yeah, no, it's rare. Yeah.
- 39:47Yeah. So I don't know.
- 39:49I just kind of feel like I that's I don't, I don't love
- 39:53that. I don't like doing that like
- 39:55that. That's going to upset someone.
- 39:57OK, that's fair. Yeah.
- 39:59Do you think you're like a like a people pleaser?
- 40:00I think I'm just like trying to make it up with an excuse to be
- 40:03honest. That's fair reflective.
- 40:05And my people pleaser, I like hosting like parties.
- 40:11Oh my God, like dinner parties? Yeah, those are so fun.
- 40:14So yeah, I guess so. OK.
- 40:15Yeah, in a way, yeah. Yeah, yeah, I like people easy.
- 40:18Yeah, Yeah, I just like hosting. But I won't like.
- 40:22I won't like people please, but I do like people pleasing.
- 40:27OK, that's fair. So then with these two songs are
- 40:30you're rolling out like more singles up until the release of
- 40:34this next project? Yes.
- 40:36What do you know what your next one is you haven't said already.
- 40:40I'm a Sagittarius, I don't know anything.
- 40:42Yeah, you're like Rochelle I'm. Like Rochelle?
- 40:44What's the third? Single What's happening next?
- 40:47Where are we going? I'm opposite with my team.
- 40:49I'm like, OK guys, this is what it is.
- 40:51I do know, I do know all the singles and the I think the next
- 40:56one is very what is the next one?
- 41:00It's one of two. Oh, it's that one.
- 41:02Oh, I love the next. One.
- 41:04Yeah, this one's good. I love the one after Bad though.
- 41:07Right? Right.
- 41:08Like love. Yeah, yeah.
- 41:10Very, very obsessed with it. So what's like, how do you, how
- 41:14do you decide? I'm literally, this is just for
- 41:16me now, like because I'm about to roll out my own things.
- 41:18Like how are you deciding what you want to put out to be
- 41:19singles? It's really a, it's really a
- 41:22team effort of like, you know, like me and, and my team
- 41:27deciding what are our favorite songs like deciding kind of like
- 41:31what is a good introduction for this?
- 41:34Like for this. Story.
- 41:35Intention behind that. Yeah, I think it's a lot of
- 41:38intention. Everything is very intentional.
- 41:40And like, I think because there's so many different like
- 41:43genres that I, I like to kind of go in between, I think it's,
- 41:46that's also like a big part of being like, OK, you know, I
- 41:49won't make sense right now. People, people loved ego.
- 41:53So, you know, this like these more R&B records that I have,
- 41:57like, I really want to, you know, give, give them something
- 42:00like that. Because.
- 42:01And I think there's just a lot of like, it's a lot of it's
- 42:04story, yeah. Being like what makes sense
- 42:07after this and timeline. And then some of it is also just
- 42:10like having these songs that I, I really want people to have
- 42:13sooner than the project comes out.
- 42:15So I'm like, you know. Yeah, I like that.
- 42:18I think for me, like thinking about like what I want to put
- 42:21out and stuff. Like it shifts so much.
- 42:23Like I had this song that I really wanted to release
- 42:27actually this month, but I don't know, there's some issue of
- 42:31mixing for like 3 months, so it's not the worst.
- 42:34Yes, it's so bad. And then we pivoted to another
- 42:37song. But then I decided to rewrite
- 42:39the verses. Yeah.
- 42:42Yeah. For some reason I felt like the
- 42:44original verses weren't good enough so.
- 42:45Do you feel like yeah. Do you feel like that was true
- 42:48though, or you feel like you just got bored of it?
- 42:51I personally think the original verses were fine, but I guess in
- 42:54my head I thought that it wasn't enough of a story being told.
- 42:58Yeah. So I was like, and then I guess
- 43:01I also let other people influence me into thinking, OK,
- 43:03maybe we should like rewrite it or something, you know, You know
- 43:06what I mean? Do you like it more now?
- 43:08It's the same to me personally, but honestly I don't know.
- 43:12It's, it's just like it's something that I've wanted all
- 43:15my life, so it's something precious about, yeah.
- 43:17Yeah, yeah. So sometimes it takes a long
- 43:20time. I know that's like the worst
- 43:22party thing, yeah. Yeah, I'm impatient too.
- 43:26I'm kind of impatient. I'm gonna be putting out a
- 43:28little bunch of singles, hopefully.
- 43:30I'm aiming to do it every few weeks and I'm hoping that by the
- 43:33time I'm done, I'll make it to June by the time I like, release
- 43:36my own project, you know, exciting.
- 43:38Yeah, thanks. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna play
- 43:41everything for you. I know, I can't wait.
- 43:43I'm so like all the albums you'd name too.
- 43:46I'm like so interested. No, yeah, I'm so excited to.
- 43:49Hear your project. He's so excited.
- 43:50Oh. That's so cute.
- 43:52OK, if you're not watching the Spotify exclusive video version
- 43:59of the show, we're playing with Little Delulu Bears St.
- 44:03This has been so incredible talking to you and you've been
- 44:05so introspective and vulnerable. And I, I feel like I've just
- 44:08been getting advice from you because like, I love everything
- 44:11you've been saying, but I'm going to ask you for a little
- 44:13bit more advice. We're doing a segment here.
- 44:15This is WWADGD. What would a delulu girl do?
- 44:19So some of the delulu besties have submitted their questions,
- 44:22concerns, situations and they want our delulu advice on it.
- 44:25OK, Do you think you're good at giving advice?
- 44:27Oh, great. Really, really good.
- 44:29OK. Oh, I'm like the person like
- 44:31people call. Really.
- 44:33Yeah, OK. I'm gonna start calling you.
- 44:34Yeah. OK, call me, I'm great at
- 44:37advice. Actually.
- 44:38Really. Yes, I have a.
- 44:39Situation I want advice on so bad.
- 44:41Right. I have like a like a nine out of
- 44:4310 success rate for advice. Oh my God.
- 44:45OK then I'm going to give you the situation because like I
- 44:47literally asked like 4 people and they were like.
- 44:49Oh, OK. Oh, OK, cool.
- 44:52OK, so this is not mine. This is not mine.
- 44:55This is from. This is yours, isn't it?
- 44:57It's not. This is.
- 44:57These are mine. None of these are.
- 44:59Mine. I don't believe me.
- 45:00None of these are. Mine.
- 45:04I had some tea on this but I can't talk about it.
- 45:07So. This is from Anonymous bestie,
- 45:08not myself, but it really is not me.
- 45:11By the way, from the studio audience, my ex keeps popping
- 45:14back up into my life. Is that a sign or should I move
- 45:16on? I think it's a sign.
- 45:21Why? Because I think everything
- 45:24happens for a reason, OK, And I think depending on how you feel
- 45:28about this man or this woman, right, or this non binary person
- 45:33TI think, I think if something is keeps coming up, I think
- 45:39yeah, you got to you got to you got to take it, OK, You got to
- 45:43take the opportunity. Because I feel like X has a very
- 45:46negi totes like it's not negative.
- 45:51Sometimes totes like right, we have XS and it's OK, totally.
- 45:56That doesn't mean that you can't ever, like, rekindle.
- 46:00OK, that's a really interesting take.
- 46:01Yeah, but it depends how you feel about this person, OK?
- 46:04That's good, I like that. I don't want to give my advice
- 46:08on it. Then I like yours.
- 46:09Why? What were you going to say?
- 46:10I'll. Say move on, but anyways.
- 46:12He said fuck him. I notoriously cannot move on
- 46:16from anything, so I'm not even in the right position.
- 46:20I have a very out of sight out of mind type of like personality
- 46:24me. Too.
- 46:25Yeah, yes, if it's not in front of me.
- 46:27Yeah. Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 46:30That's yes, I I agree. OK, here's another one from
- 46:33another anonymous bestie. OK, I'm trying to get over
- 46:35someone, but we're still friends and they work with me.
- 46:38What should I do? Quit.
- 46:41I mean, what's the job? I don't know, it's Zendos.
- 46:44Quit T new job. Really.
- 46:48Yeah. They should quit.
- 46:50Who? The person that they're trying
- 46:53to get. Over.
- 46:53Say that one again. Let me hear it one more time.
- 46:56I'm trying to get over someone. I have to imagine this is me.
- 46:59I have to imagine this is me. Yeah.
- 47:01Yeah. It depends where you work.
- 47:03I can't answer that one. OK, I can't say quit if you're
- 47:07earning like 125 KA year. Do you know what I mean?
- 47:10Oh, totally. Yeah.
- 47:11So I don't know. I can't.
- 47:13I'm sorry. OK, I'm going to sit out of
- 47:15that. Collaborator who?
- 47:17Now we're we're spinning the situation on You, their
- 47:19collaborator. You work with them.
- 47:21Oh, like a songwriter? Sure.
- 47:23Well, I just don't write songs with them.
- 47:25Oh, but they're really good at it.
- 47:26That's OK. So are so many other people.
- 47:28Oh, OK. That's interesting.
- 47:30Yeah, OK, OK. What about you?
- 47:31What I do, Yeah. Oh wait, they write with me.
- 47:37No, they work here at the podcast.
- 47:39They like, like, they just like work in the building.
- 47:42Oh, OK, name a person. I'll tell you what I'll do.
- 47:49Anyways, so this is our last. Has that happened?
- 47:53No. Oh, OK.
- 47:54I was like, is something going on?
- 47:56No, I have a very healthy team. Oh, great.
- 47:59Yes, yes, yes. OK, so last one from another
- 48:03anonymous bestie, my boyfriend's friend.
- 48:04Why is everyone anonymous? They have shame in their
- 48:07questions. Oh OK, great.
- 48:09Own it. Be proud.
- 48:11Own it exactly OK. My boyfriend's family hates me.
- 48:15I'm not sure what to do about it.
- 48:18Period, I guess. That's it.
- 48:21Sorry, I was thinking of my answer.
- 48:24What? Oh, that guys, Which camera are
- 48:28we looking at this one? There needs to be more context.
- 48:32Like I have questions. I think what needs to happen
- 48:35actually is not to come in and change your show, but I think
- 48:38you should have a phone call segment.
- 48:40Oh, because I have so many questions.
- 48:43We had one called Daodulu now, but we scrapped it.
- 48:46Oh shit, yeah it was. The logistics were too
- 48:47complicated. Right.
- 48:49Yeah, yeah, OK. And the show was running too
- 48:51long. It's a cute idea though.
- 48:54OK, in this case, I would say, oh God, I don't know.
- 48:59For me, I've genuine. I've actually been in a
- 49:01situation before where somebody's parents weren't fond
- 49:04of me, OK. And I don't it doesn't, I don't
- 49:08think it works. I think family is very big for
- 49:10me actually. And I think like.
- 49:12Really, I wouldn't care, I think.
- 49:14Really. But do you not envision like the
- 49:16person you're with forever, like going to like Christmas with
- 49:19them, like seeing their family, like oh, like getting their mom
- 49:22like a deal card holder? Like, do you not see that?
- 49:26Like happening. No, I don't see that.
- 49:29I don't care. I think I mean for me I'm tunnel
- 49:31vision. So it's like this person or
- 49:33nothing. But what about the wedding?
- 49:34Like it's so awkward then. Oh yeah, how awkward for them.
- 49:38I'm still gonna get married. Yeah, period.
- 49:40Have an issue with it. I've actually not been in this
- 49:42situation, but I don't think I would care.
- 49:44OK. Yeah, I think it depends how
- 49:46important that is to you, right? That's my final.
- 49:49But you're like family oriented. Yeah.
- 49:50Oh, for sure. OK, Yeah, I'm a massive, massive
- 49:53family person. Yeah.
- 49:55Can we do a quick rapid fire? Yeah.
- 49:58OK, answer as quickly as you can.
- 49:59Don't get things twice. Now I'm nervous.
- 50:02OK, go ahead. OK.
- 50:03Ready. Yeah.
- 50:04Have you been to Amsterdam? No.
- 50:06OK. If you were to go to Amsterdam,
- 50:08what would happen in Amsterdam? Wade.
- 50:10Got it. OK.
- 50:12What is a month that you notoriously hate?
- 50:15February. OK, why it's?
- 50:18Just boring. There's not much going on.
- 50:20OK, do you like meeting strangers?
- 50:23No. OK, what is something you wanted
- 50:25all your life? Money.
- 50:27OK, I feel like I need a context or these answers.
- 50:35OK OK, OK OK. What's your favorite?
- 50:40You're just making them up now, actually.
- 50:42I'm improvising now. What's your favorite beach
- 50:44coastal city in LA? I don't really go to the beach.
- 50:50OK, but if you were to go to the beach, would you say you like
- 50:52the sand on your feet? No, OK, I hate sand.
- 50:55Very popular opinion, yes. OK, who is someone that you want
- 50:58to see again? Who I want to see yes, like what
- 51:02do you mean like? Someone that you want to see
- 51:03again. Like if you were to see him
- 51:05again, who would you want? Back oh an ex.
- 51:07Like anyone what could be yourself?
- 51:09This is a weird question. No, it's a deep question.
- 51:11I want to see Beyoncé again, OK. In concert, yeah.
- 51:14That's a great one. OK, OK, OK.
- 51:15Thank you. What would you keep in your
- 51:16orbit? What?
- 51:18What? Would you keep in your orbit?
- 51:19What do you like to keep? Around, well, like I'm a planet.
- 51:21No, Yeah, like you're a planet. Well, like maybe your planet.
- 51:24Something else is a planet. They orbit each other.
- 51:26Diet Coke and Marlboro Lights. Right, right, right, right,
- 51:30right, right. Do you feel like you have like
- 51:34telepathy with anyone? Yes.
- 51:37Who? My best friend.
- 51:38OK, love that you guys. Listen, listen, listen, listen.
- 51:46Wait, why am I blinking so hard right now?
- 51:50All my life this is. So fun.
- 51:53What's a goal that you want for June if you make it to June?
- 52:01If I make it to June. Sorry, this segment is literally
- 52:03just for me right now. If I make it to June I would
- 52:08like to like go to the gym more than like once a month.
- 52:11That's a really. I would like to.
- 52:14I would like to make it past June.
- 52:16Absolutely, yeah. I actually always thought I was
- 52:19going to die at 18. Really.
- 52:21Yeah, I always thought I would like.
- 52:23I never thought that. What about your like 20
- 52:25somethings? No, I'm fine now.
- 52:26Oh. Totally.
- 52:27Yeah, got it. I thought like, because I, when
- 52:29I was growing up, like obviously like 18 in the UK is when you
- 52:32can start drinking and you can buy cigarettes and you can go.
- 52:35We're drinking after this. OK, OK.
- 52:36And we can. You can do everything.
- 52:38Yeah. And I thought it was too good to
- 52:40be true, so I never thought I was going to make it.
- 52:43That's crazy, I know. But I made.
- 52:45It fun little life. OK wait finish the statement.
- 52:47My 20 somethings only make me. Stronger.
- 52:51Oh, I love that. That's super good.
- 52:55OK, I'm. Proud of that one.
- 52:56If someone recall you right now, would you pick up?
- 52:59If someone, if it was Beyoncé, would you pick up?
- 53:01Yes. OK, what's the longest amount of
- 53:06time you would drive somewhere? 06 hours actually.
- 53:10I've driven to, I've driven to Germany to watch Adele from
- 53:13England. How long does that drive?
- 53:15A really long time. Really like thirtyish hours?
- 53:17Just long like took like 2 days, had to stay in a hotel in
- 53:20between. Oh my God, that's a commitment.
- 53:23I know. And you know why?
- 53:24It's because the flights were so expensive and I was like, and I
- 53:26was taking my mom and my stepdad and I was like, I don't know if
- 53:28I'm going to pay for the your flights.
- 53:30We'll drive tea. I wish I just paid for the
- 53:34flights. It was very long.
- 53:35Very, very long. What's?
- 53:37Your favorite weather? Rain.
- 53:39Oh, like storm? Like stormy weather rain,
- 53:42Really. Not like a storm, No, really.
- 53:46Just rain. Just heavy rain.
- 53:48Which is a storm. Without the like Thunder and
- 53:52stuff. OK, got it.
- 53:53Got it, got it, Got it. Final, final, final question.
- 53:58Fuck, I forgot it. It's OK.
- 54:00No, I have a good. I have a good final question.
- 54:02I'm so sorry. I know Brett's gonna be so
- 54:03annoyed at editing this. My final question for you, for
- 54:07this rapid fire. OK, OK.
- 54:10Did you did you have it yet or are you thinking about?
- 54:12It I lost it, let me try to remember it really quickly.
- 54:16OK, I have one for you if you want to.
- 54:18I would love. OK what?
- 54:19Who's the artist you'd most like to work with?
- 54:22Bonnie McKee. Oh yeah, you had her on the
- 54:24show. Yeah, I.
- 54:26Watched it. Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 54:28She's actually on a song we did. Really.
- 54:31Yeah. It was a really fun podcast.
- 54:33I really enjoyed it. Wait, you listened?
- 54:34I did. You think I'll come on here or
- 54:36not listen? I don't know.
- 54:37I don't know what people do. Wait.
- 54:39Thank you for listening. Yeah.
- 54:41She. I Yeah.
- 54:42I would love to have her. I would love to work with her.
- 54:44Great. Yeah.
- 54:45Yeah. That's a good question.
- 54:46Thank you. OK, ask me other things.
- 54:51What size bed do you have? A queen.
- 54:53OK, yeah, chill. What size TV do you have?
- 54:57I don't know, 50 inches? You just want to come over.
- 55:02You're welcome. Over Yeah.
- 55:03What's your favorite Netflix series?
- 55:05Fuck, I don't have one. I don't watch TV.
- 55:08No, I don't want to come. Over.
- 55:10Oh, OK, it's here. Mine is Stranger Things, thanks
- 55:12for asking. Stranger Things OK cool.
- 55:15Wait, do you like playing video games?
- 55:16Yeah, I'm a nerd, Yeah. What's your favorite video?
- 55:18Game. I like Fortnite, Fortnite and I
- 55:20like Dressed to Impress, but that's not video game, but to
- 55:22me. I'm thinking like, think like
- 55:23Nintendo. I don't know.
- 55:26Mario Kart? Yeah.
- 55:28Why do you think I'll beat you at Mario Kart?
- 55:30No. Yes, I would.
- 55:31I think I'm quite good at Mario Kart.
- 55:33Wait, do we have the barriers on or not?
- 55:36No. Well, you can't like go over the
- 55:37edge. No, you can go over that edge.
- 55:39Oh yeah, you would beat me. Then I definitely would.
- 55:40Yeah, for sure, For sure. Wait.
- 55:42Oh my God. OK, I guess we'll abandoned my
- 55:44last question until I remember it again.
- 55:46OK, well, we have talked about a lot of Dulu things on the show,
- 55:49and it's been so lovely getting to know you, but I would ask
- 55:52every guest what their most dululu take is.
- 55:54Do you have a dilu take? What?
- 55:55Does that mean like? What's the most Dululu thing
- 55:57that you think about? Like could be anything crazy
- 55:59controversial? What do you got?
- 56:01What's the most Dulu thing I think about?
- 56:03Yeah. That's so hard.
- 56:11I remember my last rapid fire question.
- 56:12OK, that's it's going to be easier than to Lulu.
- 56:16Question, would you say you think too much?
- 56:17Yeah, that was rapid fire. OK, can I give you advice?
- 56:23Yeah. Don't think too much, right?
- 56:28Thank you. Does that resonate with you?
- 56:31OK. Yeah.
- 56:32Will it help? No.
- 56:35I mean, OK, here's some practices you could do.
- 56:39OK. Are you actually doing this?
- 56:41Yeah. OK.
- 56:41Yeah, I haven't done therapy in like a few weeks actually, so
- 56:44this is good. Take the highway down to ocean.
- 56:46Did you do that? Yeah, I do therapy.
- 56:48Great. Yeah, Sorry.
- 56:49Carry on. So if you're overthinking like
- 56:51what you could do, this is a really good practice.
- 56:52Actually I read about in a book. I think it was either the Bible
- 56:57or I know, crazy. I love that.
- 57:00I love in a book. I think it was the Bible.
- 57:02It was the Bible, Yeah. Take the 10 down to ocean.
- 57:07Do you know the 10 to ocean? Yeah.
- 57:09Right, OK. And then just.
- 57:11Like LA. Just like, enjoy the salt air
- 57:14and play songs that you like. Yeah, I think that would help
- 57:18you not think too much. I do that.
- 57:20Do you? Yeah.
- 57:20Have you ever done well? No, because you've never been to
- 57:22Malibu. I was about to see if you've
- 57:23ever driven like, through the Canyon.
- 57:25I haven't, no. That is.
- 57:26Beautiful. You should do that.
- 57:28That's so nice. OK.
- 57:30Can you drive like well? I'm a great driver.
- 57:33OK. Because it's like very like
- 57:34your. Laughter.
- 57:35I'm a really good. Driver it's very like edgy.
- 57:40Yeah, OK. Because it's like cliffs and
- 57:43stuff. OK, I can visualize that.
- 57:45Yeah, OK. So I don't like doing it at
- 57:47night personally. Oh, you don't.
- 57:50Not the cliffs, no. Do you like, what do you like
- 57:52about I like? Do you like daytime or
- 57:56nighttime, would you say? I like nighttime.
- 57:59OK, that's complicated for me because I like both.
- 58:01I like the constellations. I like the morning light.
- 58:04But I don't like sunset. Really.
- 58:07Yeah, for some reason I don't like that period of time in the
- 58:10day. Interesting that's such a niche
- 58:12period of time in the. Day it is.
- 58:13I think it's like like past trauma or something.
- 58:16Oh yeah, no ice. Like when it starts to get dark
- 58:20that like oh shit moment. Oh fuck.
- 58:23OK, yeah, I know. I totally got that.
- 58:25Yeah, some like between like. We need to. 5:00 and 7:00 got
- 58:30it. Don't call me.
- 58:31OK, OK. We won't, we won't be calling.
- 58:34That won't be the time we get advice from you.
- 58:35Yeah. OK.
- 58:36Did you come up with your delulu take?
- 58:38I think the most like delulu thing I think about is how I'm
- 58:47going to cook like really great. Do you cook meals and and
- 58:53actually no, the most delulu thing I think is part of that.
- 58:56It's actually like I will kind of sit in bed on a Sunday and
- 59:00book like Zumba on Monday, spin on Tuesday, like fucking
- 59:08whatever else Wednesday and I'll write a list of like in the
- 59:12morning I'm going to have boiled eggs and spinach.
- 59:15Guess what I have Monday morning.
- 59:17You forget to eat breakfast. A large Fenty matcha frappe.
- 59:22Yummy with. Avocado toast and burrato on it.
- 59:25Oh, that's so good though. And then yes, I think I, I get
- 59:29to Lulu most weekends actually because I plan to be like this
- 59:33like my Instagram is just full of like 6 packs, but not because
- 59:36like I'm like you're just because I'm like I'm like ready
- 59:40to get buff. Oh, OK, mine is because I'm
- 59:43horny. Yeah, right.
- 59:45That's OK, I'm totally kidding. If I could show you my explorer
- 59:47page, it isn't. What is it?
- 59:49Mine is 6 packs and Beyoncé. 6 packs and Beyoncé.
- 59:52OK very respectable. Wait, who's your favorite
- 59:55artist? Beyoncé.
- 59:56Oh my God. Wait, I didn't see her name in
- 59:58my research review? OK.
- 1:00:01You didn't name drop her. Wait, who?
- 1:00:03Beyoncé. In your what, What did you
- 1:00:06research? What did you type in?
- 1:00:07Who's St. Harrison's favorite artist?
- 1:00:09No, just like anything that you've ever said, it would be
- 1:00:11like Amy Winehouse and you know. You didn't see Beyoncé?
- 1:00:14No, I talk about Beyoncé all the time.
- 1:00:16Really. Yeah, Oh, I think so.
- 1:00:18OK, we're adding to the Beyoncé lore.
- 1:00:20OK, So yeah, that's pretty de Lulu.
- 1:00:23Yeah, I don't do that. I will do it one day.
- 1:00:27Yeah, let's do it today. No, let's have an espresso
- 1:00:30martini. Oh yes.
- 1:00:32Do you have that? Do we like we'll make it.
- 1:00:35I don't know. We'll we'll find out.
- 1:00:37She's like, we don't have that, unfortunately.
- 1:00:41We'll make something else. OK.
- 1:00:42OK, So we close out every show by manifesting together.
- 1:00:45OK. What do you want to speak into
- 1:00:46existence? I actually want to speak into
- 1:00:50existence your project and success for you and everything
- 1:00:56you're doing. Wait.
- 1:00:57That touches me so much, thank you.
- 1:00:58Yeah, of course, and I want to speak into existence more ears
- 1:01:03on my music and my project and everything that's coming out and
- 1:01:08yeah, just like a great 2026 for for our music.
- 1:01:11Oh my God, I'm. Playing that.
- 1:01:13You're so sweet. Yeah.
- 1:01:15What a sweet person. Thank you so much.
- 1:01:17That means so much to me. I'm like, so excited about the
- 1:01:19music. I'm so excited about your music
- 1:01:21in your next project. OK, I'm manifesting all that
- 1:01:23too. Yeah, what are you manifesting?
- 1:01:26All of that, and then I want a tour.
- 1:01:28I want to perform. All of next year, OK, I want to
- 1:01:32work with other artists. I want to write for other
- 1:01:33artists. I want to make the fucking
- 1:01:36album. I want to make an album.
- 1:01:38Great album of the fucking decade.
- 1:01:40Thank you. That's actually literally the
- 1:01:42that's literally I talk to God every night and I'm like, Oh my
- 1:01:45God, please help me make the best pop album in the fucking
- 1:01:47world. Like I didn't mean that.
- 1:01:48And I feel like with what I have right now, it will be.
- 1:01:52I'm so excited. OK, good.
