- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's almost in his podcast today. I have a first.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I've never interviewed somebody from Dancing with the Stars. Now,
- 0:14Speaker 2: I've interviewed people that have been on Dance with the Stars,
- 0:17Speaker 2: but I don't think of I cannot remember. I was
- 0:19Speaker 2: trying to think about this anytime I've ever interviewed a
- 0:22Speaker 2: current contestant and their coach, their partner during the season.
- 0:29Speaker 2: So this is really exciting for me.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Yay, thanks for having us now.
- 0:35Speaker 2: We just started talking and I asked, why aren't the
- 0:37Speaker 2: two of you together? In my mind, you're together all
- 0:41Speaker 2: the time, like you never not are not together, but
- 0:44Speaker 2: you're not together right now. You're in two separate places.
- 0:47Speaker 2: How common is this? Right now?
- 0:51Speaker 3: I mean, we're still in the beginning phase of the show,
- 0:54Speaker 3: so we have like a bit more time, although that's
- 0:58Speaker 3: saying a lot because we don't have a lot of
- 1:00Speaker 3: time where we're not together. But yeah, as we were
- 1:03Speaker 3: telling you, we finished rehearsal. It was a very great
- 1:05Speaker 3: but sweaty, productive rehearsal. I was not looking cute, so
- 1:10Speaker 3: I needed to go home and get a little bit cute.
- 1:14Speaker 3: So it's my fault.
- 1:15Speaker 4: You're looking just fine. I also had to throw on
- 1:17Speaker 4: a hat because I literally just got out of the shower.
- 1:18Speaker 4: So yeah, it was just one of those days that
- 1:20Speaker 4: we had a lot going on. We were busy, and yeah,
- 1:23Speaker 4: usually we are together a lot.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Now this is a big deal for me because the
- 1:27Speaker 2: two of you, I would argue would be the fan
- 1:33Speaker 2: favorites right now, the front runners. You're crushing it, and
- 1:36Speaker 2: so I'm very excited to be talking to two of you.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I do have some questions based on my own curiosity
- 1:43Speaker 2: about the process of Dancing with the Stars. I was
- 1:46Speaker 2: never on Dancing with the Stars, and so I've only
- 1:49Speaker 2: watched as a fan for the last you know how
- 1:52Speaker 2: many years it's been on television. A couple questions. I'm
- 1:55Speaker 2: going to rapid fire either of you can answer it.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Any injuries, any current.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Injuries, I'm not severe. We're doing a move this week.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I'm not going to say what it is, but we're
- 2:10Speaker 3: doing to move this week, and.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Our bodies are sore.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Our bodies are really sore. My arm hurt.
- 2:16Speaker 4: This is a very fast paced week. So this is
- 2:18Speaker 4: the first time that the body, I think is starting
- 2:20Speaker 4: to kick in a little bit right now.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I've have friends who've been on the show, Joey,
- 2:26Speaker 2: this one's for you. They have gotten They sit in
- 2:29Speaker 2: the best shape of their life being on Dance with
- 2:30Speaker 2: the Stars. Can you already? I mean, I don't know
- 2:33Speaker 2: how many weeks you've actually been in the experience. I mean,
- 2:36Speaker 2: obviously we've only seen a few weeks of YouTube dancing
- 2:39Speaker 2: on television, but I'm sure there was some prep time
- 2:42Speaker 2: before that. Are you feeling that way right now?
- 2:45Speaker 4: Oh, one hundred percent, it's awesome. I was so bad
- 2:49Speaker 4: after getting off the Bachelor, Like you know, going into that,
- 2:51Speaker 4: you train to get into shape, and then when you
- 2:54Speaker 4: get into the show you kind of fall out of
- 2:55Speaker 4: it a lot, and then life gets crazy. So I
- 2:58Speaker 4: kind of got out of routine. So I came in
- 3:00Speaker 4: probably not in the best shape that I could be,
- 3:03Speaker 4: But the first two weeks kicked my butt got right
- 3:05Speaker 4: back into it, and yeah, we're like two to three
- 3:07Speaker 4: weeks in now, and I feel good already. The body
- 3:10Speaker 4: definitely made a difference for sure.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I mean, Ben, why do you think his shirt's been
- 3:14Speaker 3: open the first two weeks?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's playing good. Is that a joy request or
- 3:21Speaker 2: is that a strategy?
- 3:24Speaker 4: It was on the first night, it was definitely an
- 3:27Speaker 4: idea from the choreography that Jenna had. And then on
- 3:31Speaker 4: this last dance that we had, it was no joke,
- 3:34Speaker 4: a last minute decision. I did the whole dress rehearsal
- 3:37Speaker 4: with the tank under. We wanted like an open shirt
- 3:39Speaker 4: because we thought it looked beautiful in the dance, and
- 3:41Speaker 4: one of the producers came over to me, like right
- 3:44Speaker 4: before showtime, said so, what do you think about not
- 3:46Speaker 4: wearing a shirt for this dance? And we said, yes,
- 3:50Speaker 4: that just just happened. It was very quick when it happened.
- 3:52Speaker 2: See, that would be That's something nobody's ever asked of me.
- 3:55Speaker 2: So you have to be doing something right. Nobody's ever said, hey, Ben,
- 3:58Speaker 2: how do you take off your shirt for this?
- 4:00Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 4:02Speaker 2: From what I remember from a buddy who did it,
- 4:05Speaker 2: there was a lot of blisters. So as a professional dancer, Jenna,
- 4:09Speaker 2: how do you like handle that?
- 4:12Speaker 3: Like?
- 4:12Speaker 2: How do you Because I know Joey's feet are probably
- 4:15Speaker 2: just torn up right now because he's not used to it.
- 4:17Speaker 2: This is something you do all the time. How are
- 4:21Speaker 2: your feet prepared for this?
- 4:23Speaker 3: You know what? From a young age, the quote beauty
- 4:26Speaker 3: is pain has just been ingrained in me, Like my
- 4:29Speaker 3: feet go through the ringer in ballroom shoes, they suffocate them,
- 4:33Speaker 3: they squeeze them. I have I have at least like
- 4:36Speaker 3: four blisters on my toes right now. It's just part
- 4:39Speaker 3: of the process, and honestly, it doesn't really even phaze
- 4:43Speaker 3: me anymore. I just know that it like comes with
- 4:45Speaker 3: the territory. So but it is a lot I forget
- 4:48Speaker 3: because like even Joey's shoes, they're different shoes, but I
- 4:51Speaker 3: know that they're really tight and they're uncomfortable at first
- 4:54Speaker 3: and you have to break them in. So it's a
- 4:56Speaker 3: wild process. Like I forget that. Oh yeah, this is
- 4:59Speaker 3: just part of the gig. But it's a lot to
- 5:02Speaker 3: adjust to.
- 5:03Speaker 4: We as guys do not get to complain when you
- 5:05Speaker 4: think of dancing with the stars. I am at all
- 5:08Speaker 4: every single time how they have to do the same heels,
- 5:10Speaker 4: Like I don't think people understand we are doing the
- 5:13Speaker 4: same moves, We're doing everything, and they are doing it
- 5:15Speaker 4: in heels. And yeah, I definitely little blisters here and there.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Feet are not my strongest suit. I've got messed up
- 5:21Speaker 4: beat as it is, so I'm sure they're getting beat up.
- 5:23Speaker 4: But the fact that she does is in heels and
- 5:25Speaker 4: has to like just rebound from it is unbelievable to me.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Thanks Joey, He's such a sweet man.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I know, he's so good at this. I do need
- 5:37Speaker 2: to name drop for a second before we dive into
- 5:40Speaker 2: what you guys are doing currently. I was on tour
- 5:43Speaker 2: once with somebody on Dance with the Stars.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Oh my god, wait I know this.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Ezra Sosa and I traveled the US up until
- 5:52Speaker 2: COVID shut us down. Ezra is like eighteen years old,
- 5:56Speaker 2: living in the same bus as me. An absolute joy
- 5:59Speaker 2: to be around, one of my favorite people and is amazing. Yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 2: there's a reason why people are like really like him
- 6:05Speaker 2: and are gravitating towards him because his energy and just
- 6:08Speaker 2: his personality is so big. But his dream, which is cool.
- 6:12Speaker 2: I texted him, but I haven't been able to tell him.
- 6:15Speaker 2: But I'm going to tell you guys that, like when
- 6:17Speaker 2: he was eighteen years old, his dream was to be
- 6:19Speaker 2: on Dancing with the Stars. You don't get to see
- 6:22Speaker 2: a lot of people like actually accomplish these like huge
- 6:24Speaker 2: dreams they have. He did it. I think It's pretty cool.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Amazing, Yeah, fun fact. Actually, Ezra and I grew up together,
- 6:30Speaker 3: so he went to the same studio I did growing up.
- 6:33Speaker 3: So I've known him since he was a baby. And
- 6:36Speaker 3: this kid has the most heart out of anybody I know,
- 6:40Speaker 3: and I've known it's been his dream to be on
- 6:42Speaker 3: Dancing with the Stars, and so I think for him
- 6:44Speaker 3: to see me join, and then for me to see
- 6:47Speaker 3: him join, is the biggest gift. I just I'm so
- 6:51Speaker 3: proud of him. He deserves it.
- 6:53Speaker 2: All he does, he does, He's a trooper. He dealt
- 6:56Speaker 2: with a lot of wildness at eighteen years old on
- 6:59Speaker 2: the tour of US.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I can imagine, Jinna.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I'll start out with you here. We're going to dive
- 7:04Speaker 2: into some of the fan questions and some of our
- 7:07Speaker 2: questions here. When you heard that Joey was your partner,
- 7:11Speaker 2: I don't know if you can disclose kind of how
- 7:12Speaker 2: that's brought up and how you're told that as a professional,
- 7:18Speaker 2: But when you're told Joey is your partner, I want
- 7:21Speaker 2: to hear your honest, real first thoughts.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll give it to you. Joey knows this. I've
- 7:27Speaker 3: been honest with him. But I think people think that
- 7:30Speaker 3: we know who we're going to have for a little bit.
- 7:32Speaker 3: That's not the case. They really like to make it
- 7:35Speaker 3: a secret so it's an authentic reaction. But I had
- 7:40Speaker 3: a feeling because I had heard his name in the mix,
- 7:44Speaker 3: and so I was a little sad because I've been promised,
- 7:50Speaker 3: not promised, but like I've never had a football player
- 7:54Speaker 3: through my time on the show, I've never had a
- 7:56Speaker 3: football player, and so I kind of heard Danny was
- 7:58Speaker 3: going to be involved, and I was like, this is
- 8:00Speaker 3: my year. I'm going to get the NFL guy. And
- 8:03Speaker 3: then when Joey walked in, I obviously knew who he was,
- 8:07Speaker 3: but I didn't watch his season of the Bachelor, but
- 8:10Speaker 3: my sister is a mega fan, and I just remember
- 8:13Speaker 3: when his season was going, she was telling me about,
- 8:16Speaker 3: like Joey, he's just like the nicest guy. It's been
- 8:19Speaker 3: the best season. No offense, Ben, it's been the best
- 8:21Speaker 3: season of the Bachelor. Everybody loves him, and I was like, okay, okay,
- 8:26Speaker 3: let me see for myself, and it's all of that
- 8:30Speaker 3: is true. He is one of the most genuine humans
- 8:35Speaker 3: I've ever met. I think we kind of just connected
- 8:39Speaker 3: really easily and quickly, and we have so much fun.
- 8:46Speaker 3: It's seriously, I mean Obviously there's stressful moments. Joey, I'm
- 8:50Speaker 3: not always the kindest, but it's just such a pleasure
- 8:54Speaker 3: to work with him. He's so talented. He's one of
- 8:58Speaker 3: those annoying people that's freakishly good at everything. It's like
- 9:02Speaker 3: you just want to punch them because he can. I'm like,
- 9:04Speaker 3: can you try this? He's like sure and does it
- 9:06Speaker 3: in one try, and I'm like, how did that happen?
- 9:09Speaker 3: So he's just really talented but humble kind treats other
- 9:13Speaker 3: people really well, which is a big like character attribute
- 9:17Speaker 3: that I love, you know. So I just it's been
- 9:21Speaker 3: so awesome being his partner. And obviously, you know, I've
- 9:23Speaker 3: been with a bachelor guy before, I was with Joe Mobley,
- 9:26Speaker 3: so I knew that, like the fan base was going
- 9:29Speaker 3: to be epic, and I was like, okay, love this
- 9:31Speaker 3: for us, but I think ultimately, you're really at the
- 9:35Speaker 3: disposal of your partner. So if they're a good human,
- 9:38Speaker 3: it makes this whole process even better.
- 9:42Speaker 4: There you go, that was very kind. That was very nice.
- 9:45Speaker 4: But don't forget the beginning that she said that she
- 9:47Speaker 4: was disappointed.
- 9:48Speaker 3: So I didn't say I was disappointed. You know, that's
- 9:55Speaker 3: not true.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I love that. I just have this image of Jennes
- 10:00Speaker 2: seeing the name pop up and say, gosh.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Dang it, another loser.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Jenna, one more question for you before we start popping
- 10:09Speaker 2: it back and forth. There has to be an art
- 10:12Speaker 2: form to the chemistry that you two have built and
- 10:15Speaker 2: how you build chemistry with your partners. I'm assuming if
- 10:19Speaker 2: I was if I was told Hey, you're going to
- 10:21Speaker 2: be on Dance with the Stars, there'd be a lot
- 10:23Speaker 2: of nerves about a lot of different things, including meeting
- 10:26Speaker 2: my partner. And so for you, Jenna, with any of
- 10:30Speaker 2: your partners, kind of what is your mindset as the
- 10:34Speaker 2: leader here to build that chemistry and to make it
- 10:36Speaker 2: a space that is fun from the very beginning.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that connection, that chemistry is one of the most
- 10:43Speaker 3: important parts for me being a pro on the show
- 10:46Speaker 3: and having a partner be successful. I think obviously ballroom
- 10:51Speaker 3: dancing is a team sport, so there needs to be
- 10:54Speaker 3: that trust going into each week and being like can
- 10:57Speaker 3: you do this? Will you do this? I'm going to
- 10:59Speaker 3: be young and I'm going to be pushing you like
- 11:01Speaker 3: do you trust me in this scary, intimidating process. But
- 11:05Speaker 3: then also there has to be like genuine admiration for
- 11:10Speaker 3: each other because it is a very vulnerable process, you know.
- 11:15Speaker 3: So for me, that's always one of the biggest things
- 11:17Speaker 3: that I try to establish very soon with my partners
- 11:21Speaker 3: is that good partner chemistry. You just need it. And
- 11:25Speaker 3: the audience can feel when people get along and look
- 11:28Speaker 3: like they're friends when they don't. I think it's really obvious.
- 11:32Speaker 3: So that's that's one of the first things I do.
- 11:34Speaker 3: And I'm an open book. I think anyone that meets
- 11:37Speaker 3: me like you can tell who I am pretty pretty soon.
- 11:42Speaker 3: So I just try to be as open and welcome
- 11:45Speaker 3: me and honest as possible about what this process is
- 11:47Speaker 3: going to be, because there are highs, there are lows,
- 11:50Speaker 3: But I hope that I'm my partner's safe space in
- 11:53Speaker 3: the process.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Juey, for you, obviously, I don't want to put words
- 11:57Speaker 2: in your mouth that that feeling of exciting the invite
- 12:01Speaker 2: to dance with the stars and then finding out who
- 12:02Speaker 2: your partner is and then showing up to the studio
- 12:05Speaker 2: in the first day walk us through kind of your
- 12:08Speaker 2: emotions throughout that whole process.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I was nervous, So I really was,
- 12:13Speaker 4: because I know how important it is to be able to.
- 12:17Speaker 4: I don't know, to really trust your partners, she said,
- 12:19Speaker 4: And if you don't feel like you're going to, then
- 12:21Speaker 4: it's not going to be as enjoyable as a process.
- 12:23Speaker 4: And I heard from my sister and some friends Jenna's
- 12:26Speaker 4: name came up a lot there, said like, I hope
- 12:28Speaker 4: you get Jenna. I hope you get Jenna. So when
- 12:29Speaker 4: I found out it was her, I was generally so excited,
- 12:32Speaker 4: but I had no idea how we were going to
- 12:34Speaker 4: sink and be able to get into it because I
- 12:36Speaker 4: was really nervous going into that first day. I was like,
- 12:39Speaker 4: I think I have rhythm, but I don't even know
- 12:41Speaker 4: if I can dance. I want to be able to
- 12:43Speaker 4: really commit to this and be in it, but I
- 12:45Speaker 4: know I have to be somewhat good to be as
- 12:47Speaker 4: into it as I want to. So a thousand thoughts
- 12:49Speaker 4: are going through my head. And what I give Jenna
- 12:51Speaker 4: so much credit for is she made it feel so
- 12:55Speaker 4: comfortable right from the beginning. It was something about how
- 12:57Speaker 4: she was able to joke with me, something about how
- 13:00Speaker 4: we just kind of I think had this friendship right away,
- 13:02Speaker 4: felt like we kind of already knew each other. That
- 13:05Speaker 4: that idea of worrying about how I looked kind of
- 13:07Speaker 4: went out the door right away, and that was really
- 13:10Speaker 4: big for me. It let me kind of hit the
- 13:11Speaker 4: ground running right when we started practice. Jenna knows this.
- 13:15Speaker 4: We had like the craziest first day. We literally did
- 13:17Speaker 4: our first rehearsal the same day we did the entire
- 13:19Speaker 4: promo shoot, the same day that we did all this
- 13:22Speaker 4: other extra stuff. We spent at least eight hours together
- 13:25Speaker 4: that day, so it was kind of a right away
- 13:27Speaker 4: and she looked at me like, it's not usually going
- 13:29Speaker 4: to be like this, but it was perfect. I wouldn't
- 13:32Speaker 4: have changed the thing because I think it let us
- 13:34Speaker 4: kind of get comfortable and trust each other right away.
- 13:36Speaker 4: So the rest was easy, but was definitely nervous and
- 13:39Speaker 4: was definitely grateful that Jenna was my partner right from
- 13:41Speaker 4: the beginning.
- 13:42Speaker 2: The amount of hours of two of you right now
- 13:43Speaker 2: are spending getting prepared for each week.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Is what Typically it's four hour rehearsals, but then that
- 13:51Speaker 3: doesn't include like fittings, interviews, camera blocking days, show day.
- 13:56Speaker 3: We're together from eight am until eight pm, you know,
- 14:00Speaker 3: so it's a lot of time. But I would say,
- 14:04Speaker 3: like typically right not right now, our rehearsal times are
- 14:07Speaker 3: four hour chunks.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Yeah, it's in the beginning, it's it's honestly not as
- 14:11Speaker 4: much as you would think it is, But it doesn't
- 14:13Speaker 4: feel that way either because those four hours you are
- 14:15Speaker 4: hitting it immediately. It's it's very intense, and then you
- 14:19Speaker 4: kind of need those breaks after. But then when you
- 14:22Speaker 4: get to blocking days on Monday and Tuesday show days,
- 14:24Speaker 4: those are those are long days. So it's it's a.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Lot, Jenna for you. Dancing with the Stars is obviously,
- 14:40Speaker 2: I mean, I know of Dancing with Stars for many reasons. Again,
- 14:44Speaker 2: going back to Ezra, it was such a big deal
- 14:46Speaker 2: for him as a professional dancer to be on this show.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Can you give the fans a little backstory of if
- 14:52Speaker 2: this was a dream for you, if this was something
- 14:54Speaker 2: that you'd always wanted, how you ended up on it.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Kind of walk us through that and then we'll get
- 14:59Speaker 2: into you obviously this season.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Yeah. So I grew up at a studio that produced
- 15:06Speaker 3: a bunch of amazing dancers, and specifically ballroom dancers. So
- 15:11Speaker 3: I grew up at the same studio that Derek and
- 15:13Speaker 3: Julianne actually came from. And I'll never forget I was
- 15:19Speaker 3: Julianne was eighteen years old and I used to take
- 15:22Speaker 3: lessons from her. She was like one of my first
- 15:24Speaker 3: female ballroom teachers and she was just like the hottest
- 15:28Speaker 3: girl ever. And I was like, I want to be
- 15:31Speaker 3: her when I grow up. And she called my mom
- 15:34Speaker 3: one day because we're supposed to have a lesson, and
- 15:35Speaker 3: she was like, listen, I'm moving out to la I
- 15:38Speaker 3: got this big opportunity and I never saw her again,
- 15:42Speaker 3: and she got booked for Dancing with the Stars, and
- 15:44Speaker 3: that was the first time that I had heard of
- 15:46Speaker 3: the show. This was right in the beginning, and you know,
- 15:50Speaker 3: as a dancer growing up, you don't think that dance
- 15:52Speaker 3: can be a career or provide for your family. But
- 15:55Speaker 3: I think Dancing with the Stars was the first show
- 15:57Speaker 3: that made that attainable or like a vision that this
- 16:00Speaker 3: could happen for you and you could do this. And
- 16:03Speaker 3: so after that, there were quite a few other dancers
- 16:07Speaker 3: from that studio that had been booked on Dancing with
- 16:09Speaker 3: the Stars, Chelsea high Tower, Whitney Carson, Lindsay Arnold. I
- 16:13Speaker 3: then got asked to join, and this was a bucket list.
- 16:16Speaker 3: It was a dream of mine to be performing on
- 16:20Speaker 3: this stage in front of this mass amount of people.
- 16:23Speaker 3: So to be able to do it and to have
- 16:26Speaker 3: been on it for ten years, which is scary to say,
- 16:30Speaker 3: it's a dream come true.
- 16:32Speaker 2: It is super interesting that you say that that Dance
- 16:34Speaker 2: with the Stars kind of opened up this new path
- 16:37Speaker 2: for professional dancers to provide the family It's a really
- 16:40Speaker 2: exciting thing. This season has been a hit so far.
- 16:43Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, the viewership, the ratings, the excitement, the
- 16:46Speaker 2: conversations around it have been absolutely amazing. And something else
- 16:50Speaker 2: that's been amazing is the two of you. This last Tuesday,
- 16:53Speaker 2: you did the room, but it blew everybody out of
- 16:56Speaker 2: the water. Do you think your dance was underscored because
- 17:01Speaker 2: I think from social media people feel like it was.
- 17:04Speaker 4: I have said the same thing every single time. I
- 17:07Speaker 4: love the judges and I respect their opinions always. We
- 17:11Speaker 4: did go into that week feeling really confident. From the
- 17:15Speaker 4: first week we thought we did great. It was really
- 17:17Speaker 4: hard to start the show. You saw Jenna's reaction on
- 17:19Speaker 4: week one, like to get all seven. She was stoked,
- 17:22Speaker 4: and then we did say I said, and I was like, Jenna,
- 17:25Speaker 4: was I supposed to say that? But like in the
- 17:26Speaker 4: beginning of the week, I said I want an eight,
- 17:28Speaker 4: Like I said, I want to get an eight this week.
- 17:30Speaker 4: I feel like this is a beautiful dance as she
- 17:32Speaker 4: created to such a beautiful song. It felt so foreign initially,
- 17:36Speaker 4: but I said, if I can do something this difficult
- 17:38Speaker 4: and do it well, I think an eight isn't a
- 17:41Speaker 4: crazy thing to get. And I didn't say I wanted
- 17:43Speaker 4: all eights. I said I just wanted one. So we
- 17:45Speaker 4: hit the goal that we kind of went for. So
- 17:47Speaker 4: I think for us, we were really excited about it.
- 17:51Speaker 4: I'm not going to speak for both of us, but
- 17:52Speaker 4: I just feel like anytime the fans say that, that
- 17:54Speaker 4: makes us feel great. But yeah, we respect the judges
- 17:58Speaker 4: and love their opinions, is what I'm going to say.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Good answer, No. I. It's also we can't forget that
- 18:05Speaker 3: it's week two. Sure, you know, to already have seen
- 18:09Speaker 3: an eight in week one is unheard of, So I
- 18:13Speaker 3: think maybe for the fans, they saw that week one
- 18:15Speaker 3: and they were maybe expecting more. I'm very happy with
- 18:19Speaker 3: what our scores have been and where we are in
- 18:21Speaker 3: the leader board. This is the perfect placement for us
- 18:24Speaker 3: to continue to grow, to take that momentum and just
- 18:27Speaker 3: keep building each week, so I'm super happy again. Like
- 18:30Speaker 3: Joey said, it was a goal to get an eight.
- 18:32Speaker 3: We did, and I'll let's keep doing it.
- 18:35Speaker 2: But then, Jenna, as the leader here, how do you
- 18:38Speaker 2: how do you continue to get better? Does that put
- 18:40Speaker 2: a pressure on you because your scores are so high
- 18:43Speaker 2: but they're not quite where you will maybe want them
- 18:45Speaker 2: to be. How do you continue to get better week
- 18:48Speaker 2: by week?
- 18:49Speaker 3: That's what this process is. You want to see somebody
- 18:51Speaker 3: who's not a d answer become one, and I think
- 18:54Speaker 3: you're getting that evolution with Joey. So I think for
- 18:57Speaker 3: me each week it's too show is something different in
- 19:02Speaker 3: Joey each week that the fans are going to be
- 19:04Speaker 3: shocked or surprised about. You know, Week one, I don't
- 19:07Speaker 3: think anyone expected him to come out with that charisma
- 19:10Speaker 3: he did Boom week two. I don't think people expected
- 19:14Speaker 3: him to have that quality or those nuances and the
- 19:16Speaker 3: details in a rumbo which is so difficult. He did it.
- 19:21Speaker 3: So I think that's where we go. I just want
- 19:22Speaker 3: to keep pushing him, and he's such a great student.
- 19:25Speaker 3: He really listens and he wants it, so I love
- 19:29Speaker 3: that I can push him. But I think we can
- 19:32Speaker 3: obtain those goals and keep getting better each week.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Is there a type of dance right now in your
- 19:38Speaker 2: head that you're like, that's our home run? Like this
- 19:40Speaker 2: fits Joey, it fits me. If we like want when
- 19:43Speaker 2: we need to bring it out, we'll bring it out.
- 19:45Speaker 3: It's hard because there's a few different styles that I
- 19:49Speaker 3: love doing on this show just because I know they
- 19:51Speaker 3: translate well and the audience loves them. So I'm like
- 19:54Speaker 3: looking forward to a dance like an Argentine tango or
- 19:58Speaker 3: a regular tango or v needs walts. Those are some
- 20:02Speaker 3: of my favorite dnancewers to choreograph. But you know, with
- 20:05Speaker 3: Joey's athletic ability, I think something like a quick step
- 20:08Speaker 3: or a jive is really going to show him off
- 20:11Speaker 3: where he can show that he has stamina, he has athleticism,
- 20:14Speaker 3: and we can kind of just fly.
- 20:16Speaker 2: So you know, so there's a lot in the worst,
- 20:20Speaker 2: there's a lot.
- 20:20Speaker 3: To work with.
- 20:22Speaker 2: That's that's great.
- 20:23Speaker 3: There's a lot I'm excited for for sure.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Yeah, Joey, you mentioned it earlier about the kind of
- 20:29Speaker 2: the physical condition you've been in. There's a thing in
- 20:31Speaker 2: my notes here I had no clue about that was
- 20:34Speaker 2: brought up to me, but you've gone to great links
- 20:37Speaker 2: for this show, including botox in your armpits.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Oh my god, I can't is that a thing? I
- 20:43Speaker 4: can't explain how funny this is, and I will. This
- 20:45Speaker 4: is a great time to set the record straight on
- 20:47Speaker 4: all of this. When I got off The Bachelor, I
- 20:51Speaker 4: had a sweating issue. I don't know what it was,
- 20:53Speaker 4: other than the call it a sweating.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Issue, I like during The Bachelor too or after.
- 20:57Speaker 4: More after it kind of happened with Carrie a little
- 20:59Speaker 4: bit way through that. We had to be kind of
- 21:01Speaker 4: smart about the colors when I was in like Mexico whatnot,
- 21:03Speaker 4: because it was so random that it was like a
- 21:06Speaker 4: nervous sweating thing or like an anticipation thing, and it
- 21:09Speaker 4: was only carried in my armpits, Like wasn't sweating anywhere
- 21:12Speaker 4: where you could see it, like through the shirt. But
- 21:14Speaker 4: I would just get like these crazy pit stains, and
- 21:16Speaker 4: I was like, I don't want to look like this
- 21:18Speaker 4: on TV. So it got so bad through the show.
- 21:21Speaker 4: And then obviously you get off the show and it's
- 21:23Speaker 4: wintertime and I'm doing press in New York and I'm
- 21:25Speaker 4: going to press in New York, and I'm like I'm
- 21:27Speaker 4: sweating through a full suit here, like it got really
- 21:30Speaker 4: really bad. So I asked for like anyone, like what
- 21:34Speaker 4: do you have for help? And it's just so funny
- 21:36Speaker 4: because this company offered to do like botox in the armpits.
- 21:39Speaker 4: It was Carrie's idea. I was like, yeah, I'll try it,
- 21:41Speaker 4: but I'm not kidding. That was in no I think
- 21:44Speaker 4: that was in December of last year, and they had
- 21:48Speaker 4: it and I guess they just decided to post it
- 21:50Speaker 4: when dancing started. I kind of honestly forgot about it.
- 21:53Speaker 4: So now everyone thinks it's with dancing. But if you
- 21:56Speaker 4: look closely at the at the video, like I have
- 21:58Speaker 4: my long curly hair like I did when I was
- 22:00Speaker 4: during Bachelor, and now I have like the shorter cut.
- 22:02Speaker 4: So it was from almost like all the way back
- 22:05Speaker 4: to earlier. This ur at the end of this last year,
- 22:08Speaker 4: but it it caught steam. I looked the other day,
- 22:10Speaker 4: it's got like over a million views on TikTok. So
- 22:13Speaker 4: I'm screwed. Everyone knows they got boatox my armpits now,
- 22:15Speaker 4: but it's worn off. So if people want to know,
- 22:17Speaker 4: I need to do it again. I am starting to sweat.
- 22:20Speaker 4: We had that silk shirt yesterday, and I've obviously been
- 22:23Speaker 4: shirtless on a few times so it doesn't matter. But
- 22:25Speaker 4: the pit stains are back and nervous Joe, He's back
- 22:27Speaker 4: in play, So I got to figure out something.
- 22:29Speaker 3: For these armpits.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Will you do it again?
- 22:31Speaker 4: I would? It worked really well. It took you know
- 22:33Speaker 4: when I did it? Actually, Ben was it was work
- 22:34Speaker 4: before I saw you. It was worked for the Golden Wedding.
- 22:36Speaker 4: That was when it kicked in. So the Golden Wedding
- 22:38Speaker 4: was the first time I like, actually wore a suit again.
- 22:40Speaker 4: I was like, whoa, this actually worked and it was
- 22:43Speaker 4: great for the last six months or show. So and
- 22:46Speaker 4: I guess it can wear off and usually going on
- 22:49Speaker 4: national TV brings out nerves for people, so I guess
- 22:51Speaker 4: it's happening again.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I was going to say I never noticed it
- 22:54Speaker 2: during the Golden Wedding.
- 22:57Speaker 4: The boatox was activated.
- 22:58Speaker 2: That's what see. I'm actually guessing, Joey, here's how you
- 23:03Speaker 2: should look at this. It has so many views because
- 23:06Speaker 2: there's so many people that are like, I need to
- 23:07Speaker 2: do this too, Like what did Joey do? I see
- 23:10Speaker 2: this headline? I need to watch it. So you're helping people.
- 23:13Speaker 4: That was what the That was what they said to
- 23:15Speaker 4: the people that did it said, it's actually not the
- 23:17Speaker 4: most known thing. I think it's called I don't want
- 23:19Speaker 4: to mess up the name. It's hyper summer.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Hyper hydrosis is what I.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Have to It's called hyperdrosis and whatever it is. I
- 23:28Speaker 4: definitely got it so and apparently other people have it too.
- 23:32Speaker 4: And yeah, I'm raising awareness about sweaty pitts. What a fuck.
- 23:35Speaker 4: That's a great post a child for Joey. Good job,
- 23:37Speaker 4: good job.
- 23:38Speaker 2: For you, man. If you've done nothing else in this
- 23:40Speaker 2: last year of your life, you've done that right. The
- 23:44Speaker 2: the chemistry you guys have is palpable, It's awesome. We'd
- 23:48Speaker 2: be remiss not to bring up just the comments that
- 23:51Speaker 2: have existed around your dancing partnership. I think I'm not
- 23:57Speaker 2: going to put words in your mouth, so I'll ask
- 23:59Speaker 2: the questions first. Obviously that has been a big topic.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Either of you can answer this. Are you surprised that
- 24:05Speaker 2: it's a big topic.
- 24:07Speaker 4: I'll start on this if you want to, and then
- 24:09Speaker 4: I feel like you'll definitely do the best of filling
- 24:11Speaker 4: in from the pro side. We knew like we knew
- 24:14Speaker 4: coming in as a Bachelor Nation thing. I think it's
- 24:18Speaker 4: understandable that people are paying attention to my relationship always,
- 24:22Speaker 4: and it was something that Kelsey and I talked about.
- 24:24Speaker 4: It made sure before doing this that she was comfortable
- 24:26Speaker 4: with putting that into kind of the world. Again, I
- 24:29Speaker 4: think that we were more surprised and not that people
- 24:32Speaker 4: couldn't step away and understand the situation of the relationship
- 24:35Speaker 4: I was in, the relationship that Jenna was in. We
- 24:38Speaker 4: were kind of hoping that people would be a little
- 24:39Speaker 4: bit more aware of that, but we weren't necessarily surprised.
- 24:43Speaker 4: I think it was more just trying to have a
- 24:45Speaker 4: conversation of people understanding that it's not something that you
- 24:49Speaker 4: really need to be focusing on. We want to be
- 24:51Speaker 4: able to connect and have what we have on the
- 24:54Speaker 4: dance floor and have this friendship and trust with each
- 24:56Speaker 4: other without this assumption of something that we would never
- 24:59Speaker 4: be doing. So I'll legenda talk because she's on the
- 25:02Speaker 4: pro side of I'm sure this happens every season with
- 25:04Speaker 4: different people. But I would not say that we were
- 25:06Speaker 4: necessarily surprised from the comments. We just wish people were
- 25:09Speaker 4: kind of understanding the situation a little bit better.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Joey nailed it. But I have been
- 25:15Speaker 3: on the show for a while, and so has my husband.
- 25:18Speaker 3: We've been paired with the opposite sexes. I've been paired
- 25:22Speaker 3: with a girl. People were assuming things were happening with us.
- 25:25Speaker 3: So it just kind of comes with the show. I
- 25:28Speaker 3: won't say unfortunately. I love that people are that invested
- 25:32Speaker 3: and they like feel like they're part of your partnerships.
- 25:35Speaker 3: But you know, I think that no, I'm desensitized to it,
- 25:38Speaker 3: but I just knew that this would probably happen, and
- 25:42Speaker 3: especially with the franchise that he comes from. But like
- 25:45Speaker 3: Joey said, I think it's very obvious that my relationship
- 25:49Speaker 3: is known on the show. I mean, I have a child,
- 25:52Speaker 3: my husband's on the show as well, and I thought,
- 25:55Speaker 3: you know, people would obviously know that Joey's engaged. So
- 25:59Speaker 3: I think there'sppointment when we're so excited about being able
- 26:04Speaker 3: to be announced on Good Morning America finally, and there's
- 26:08Speaker 3: just like all these comments that kind of like, you know,
- 26:11Speaker 3: why does it have to do that initially, But I
- 26:14Speaker 3: think it's gotten so much better. Kelsey's incredible. She's been
- 26:17Speaker 3: so supportive during this whole experience. Obviously, my husband loves
- 26:22Speaker 3: Joey and is so supportive, So I think we could
- 26:25Speaker 3: have asked for better partners in this situation. But yeah,
- 26:28Speaker 3: it just it kind of comes with the show on
- 26:29Speaker 3: the territory. There's there's always going to be chatter, and
- 26:32Speaker 3: then I think once you get past the initial shock
- 26:34Speaker 3: of it of like seeing these two people together, then
- 26:37Speaker 3: they forget about it and they're just invested in our
- 26:39Speaker 3: dancing and what our partnership is going to do and
- 26:41Speaker 3: how far we're going.
- 26:42Speaker 4: To go exactly. I'll add one more thing too, because
- 26:45Speaker 4: I don't even know if I've talked about this as well,
- 26:47Speaker 4: Like it was something I thought about coming in. I said,
- 26:49Speaker 4: I wanted to be in a situation where I was
- 26:52Speaker 4: comfortable that I didn't have to worry about a lot
- 26:54Speaker 4: of this noise. So I asked when I got on
- 26:56Speaker 4: the show to be paired with someone that was in
- 26:58Speaker 4: a successful and healthy, reallylationship. I said, I didn't want
- 27:01Speaker 4: there to be any chance of noise on this because
- 27:04Speaker 4: I know that comes with the show and the territory sometimes,
- 27:06Speaker 4: and I was in such a great place in my
- 27:08Speaker 4: life with everything that Kelsey and I have built that
- 27:11Speaker 4: I didn't want to have a distraction so we understand
- 27:14Speaker 4: why it's happening. But I was also coming in with
- 27:16Speaker 4: those thoughts being like, let's do everything we possibly can
- 27:19Speaker 4: to help with it, and Jenna nailed it that we're
- 27:21Speaker 4: in probably the best spot we've been now with Kelsey
- 27:24Speaker 4: being more vocal with us trying to do is everything
- 27:26Speaker 4: we can to have people kind of settle down and
- 27:29Speaker 4: hopefully we can just get to just enjoying and having
- 27:31Speaker 4: fun and focusing on our dances each week. Now does it?
- 27:33Speaker 2: I want to talk a lot about Kelsey here in
- 27:36Speaker 2: just a second, because I think she has done just
- 27:38Speaker 2: a tremendous job at I don't want to say navigating
- 27:41Speaker 2: it because it's not like an issue in her life probably,
- 27:43Speaker 2: but it's she's doing a great job publicly with it.
- 27:46Speaker 2: But for you two as partners, now, is there an
- 27:49Speaker 2: element you have to be intentional about not have like
- 27:52Speaker 2: showing that connection off or are you are you trying
- 27:55Speaker 2: to convince the audience now that maybe it isn't as
- 27:58Speaker 2: close because in my mind, based off what I've heard
- 28:01Speaker 2: from the beginning, having that chemistry, having that closeness is
- 28:06Speaker 2: a key to the success of a dancing partnership. So
- 28:10Speaker 2: have you at any moment been like, hey, like, we
- 28:13Speaker 2: shouldn't do an interview side by side or is there
- 28:16Speaker 2: any of that going on.
- 28:17Speaker 3: I think we're very intentional with what we do, but
- 28:19Speaker 3: I think our main focus isn't catered to the audience.
- 28:23Speaker 3: I think it's catered to our individual spouses or significant others,
- 28:27Speaker 3: you know, being just intentional aware of their feelings and thoughts. Yeah,
- 28:34Speaker 3: but I want to again, you know, like my job
- 28:38Speaker 3: is to teach my partner how to dance and to
- 28:41Speaker 3: create beautiful shapes and art, and so at the end
- 28:44Speaker 3: of the day, I have to make sure that I'm
- 28:46Speaker 3: doing my job and I'm creating art and I'm teaching
- 28:49Speaker 3: Joey how to be a good partner. So I think
- 28:51Speaker 3: it's just the mindset. Also, obviously obviously we have a
- 28:55Speaker 3: ton of fun together. We have a great time. But yeah,
- 28:57Speaker 3: I would say like publicly we are very aware and
- 28:59Speaker 3: intention all.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Yeah, nailed it perfectly. And as you said too, Ben,
- 29:03Speaker 4: like it's important. It's actually been one of the best
- 29:05Speaker 4: compliments we've gotten from the beginning on week one and
- 29:08Speaker 4: two is that the judges see that we trust each other.
- 29:11Speaker 4: There is a chemistry and connection, and that's really important
- 29:13Speaker 4: to be able to make the art that she's talking about.
- 29:16Speaker 4: So we're aware, but we're also leaning into the idea
- 29:19Speaker 4: that we're comfortable with each other and that's great. We
- 29:21Speaker 4: wouldn't change a thing about that.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I'm sure Joey. Before the season started, we do have
- 29:36Speaker 2: people within our group that have been on Dance with
- 29:39Speaker 2: the Stars. What were those conversations like with Kelsey? Not
- 29:43Speaker 2: even from a who my partner is going to be standpoint,
- 29:45Speaker 2: but hey, this is going to be a huge time commitment.
- 29:48Speaker 2: I'm going to be investing a lot of time away
- 29:50Speaker 2: from home. Like, how did those conversations exist in your
- 29:53Speaker 2: relationship so early on, you know, post bachelor.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a great question. I think the first thing
- 30:01Speaker 4: was I was not going to do it unless she
- 30:03Speaker 4: was okay with it. I knew that from the beginning.
- 30:06Speaker 4: I was really lucky that Charity did it the season
- 30:08Speaker 4: before this, and she was obviously fresh off how things
- 30:11Speaker 4: were and I got to talk to her about it.
- 30:13Speaker 4: There's a lot of levels to why our situation was
- 30:16Speaker 4: better than Charities because she went straight from the bacherette
- 30:20Speaker 4: right into it. It worked out great for them because
- 30:22Speaker 4: Dotton was able to work a remote job and He's
- 30:25Speaker 4: been amazing and supportive, and I think they did it
- 30:27Speaker 4: perfectly for them. But if we had to do that,
- 30:30Speaker 4: if I was going straight off the Bachelor and I
- 30:32Speaker 4: was going to jump into it, I probably would not
- 30:34Speaker 4: have done it because it would have been really tough.
- 30:37Speaker 4: But Kelsey and I had obviously those three months or
- 30:40Speaker 4: so to be able to enjoy, have fun, go learn
- 30:43Speaker 4: a lot about each other while having all these experiences,
- 30:46Speaker 4: and then I was able to have the real conversation
- 30:48Speaker 4: with her of what do you think about this? Because
- 30:50Speaker 4: it's getting tossed towards me, but I have to kind
- 30:53Speaker 4: of actively look to do it if I want to.
- 30:55Speaker 4: So I want to start having those conversations, but I'm
- 30:57Speaker 4: not going to do it unless we talk through it.
- 31:00Speaker 4: And she actually was the one that pushed me the most.
- 31:02Speaker 4: She said, no, I think you should do this, not
- 31:04Speaker 4: only because I think you'll enjoy it, but I think
- 31:06Speaker 4: you'll be good at it, and I want you to
- 31:09Speaker 4: have that experience. So unless I had that conversation with her,
- 31:13Speaker 4: I don't know if I would have probably had the
- 31:15Speaker 4: combos I did and been in the position. She gave
- 31:19Speaker 4: me the confidence that I could do it, and it
- 31:21Speaker 4: did help that we had Charity and Dottin to talk
- 31:23Speaker 4: through what the time commitment would be. And it's the
- 31:25Speaker 4: same as the Bachelor, like you think you know and
- 31:28Speaker 4: then until you're in it, you don't. So we're still
- 31:30Speaker 4: navigating through that as much as we possibly can. But
- 31:33Speaker 4: she's been nothing but supportive. We love being in La
- 31:36Speaker 4: right now. There's so many exciting things that are going
- 31:38Speaker 4: on here too, so it's been great, but we're still
- 31:41Speaker 4: we're learning through it every day as well.
- 31:43Speaker 2: What are some ways, Joey that you've made your relationship
- 31:46Speaker 2: of priority already in the first two weeks.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Being really present when I come home, because it's hard,
- 31:51Speaker 4: and it's honestly more through communication, Like I need to
- 31:54Speaker 4: tell her as soon as I get home that I
- 31:56Speaker 4: need to decompressed for like twenty minutes because I'm tired
- 31:59Speaker 4: and I'm thinking of my dance in a million different ways.
- 32:02Speaker 4: And then once I feel like I'm centered, now I
- 32:03Speaker 4: can have a real conversation with her, but you know,
- 32:06Speaker 4: telling her about my day, being excited and talking through
- 32:09Speaker 4: all the amazing things I did, asking her how her
- 32:11Speaker 4: day was, how was her workout, how was this meeting
- 32:13Speaker 4: that she walked to, Like all those little things of
- 32:16Speaker 4: trying to just have the open communication but then feeling
- 32:19Speaker 4: each other out too, Like I want to make sure
- 32:21Speaker 4: that she's feeling comfortable, and if we need to have
- 32:24Speaker 4: a chill night, she'll understand that. But then if she
- 32:26Speaker 4: really wants to go out and go to this party
- 32:28Speaker 4: because it's an opportunity for her to meet more people,
- 32:31Speaker 4: I got to suck it up and go to that party.
- 32:32Speaker 4: But it's been good so far. I can obviously always
- 32:36Speaker 4: be better. I'm not going to act like I'm a
- 32:38Speaker 4: master at this, but I think that we've been doing
- 32:40Speaker 4: really well the communication and not letting things fester if
- 32:44Speaker 4: there is any type of issue. So I'm just trusting
- 32:47Speaker 4: and leaning on hers. She's happy, I'm happy, and we're
- 32:50Speaker 4: just trying to have as much fun as we can
- 32:51Speaker 4: with this awesome opportunity that came my way.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Sounds like you're doing it right. I've been married for
- 32:55Speaker 2: three years. It's I would love to see here and
- 32:58Speaker 2: be like, no, this is how you should do it.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I don't know, just you'll do you best if you
- 33:03Speaker 2: love or you'll figure it out. Jenna Kelsey has said
- 33:06Speaker 2: that you've been a support. You know, obviously your relationship
- 33:09Speaker 2: with her is important too. You've done this for ten years,
- 33:12Speaker 2: as you've said, you're not shocked, you know by the
- 33:15Speaker 2: fans reactions in these comments. What are some ways that
- 33:18Speaker 2: you've kind of found to support Kelsey through this journey
- 33:22Speaker 2: or just give some insight into what to expect.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was really important right away. As
- 33:29Speaker 3: soon as Joey and I had met each other, we
- 33:31Speaker 3: were like, let's get you guys over to our house.
- 33:34Speaker 3: I want her to meet me, I want to meet
- 33:36Speaker 3: I want her to meet Val, meet our son. You know,
- 33:39Speaker 3: just already established that relationship together too, so she felt
- 33:42Speaker 3: really part of it and comfortable in this partnership because
- 33:45Speaker 3: she's part of it. So yeah, we did that right
- 33:48Speaker 3: away before we were announced on Good Morning America's partners,
- 33:51Speaker 3: they'd come over to our house. We had dinner, which
- 33:54Speaker 3: was so much fun. And then she's been our like
- 33:56Speaker 3: social media queens. She sends us all sorts of audios
- 33:59Speaker 3: and ideas. Is like, she's so good at that, and
- 34:02Speaker 3: I love that because Joey and I are brain dead
- 34:05Speaker 3: at the end of the day. We don't have the
- 34:06Speaker 3: capacity to even think about that. So she's been so
- 34:09Speaker 3: helpful and involved with us on that aspect, and then
- 34:13Speaker 3: we actually got dinner. We did a little double date
- 34:16Speaker 3: last Tuesday after the show, we all went to catch Stake.
- 34:20Speaker 3: So it's it's been really fun. Obviously, it's this is
- 34:24Speaker 3: only week three, so we still have a lot more
- 34:26Speaker 3: time to get to know each other. But I told
- 34:29Speaker 3: Joey from the beginning, I really think it's important that
- 34:31Speaker 3: we are open with her, and I want you to
- 34:34Speaker 3: show her the videos from our day. I want her
- 34:36Speaker 3: to feel part of it, so she's just as excited
- 34:39Speaker 3: as you are. And she's been really really awesome with
- 34:42Speaker 3: that so far.
- 34:43Speaker 2: At least on social media. Kelsey has been so excited
- 34:46Speaker 2: about this process. Joey, not that you need to do this,
- 34:50Speaker 2: but I think one great thing that everybody listening would
- 34:53Speaker 2: love to know is if you could just kind of
- 34:55Speaker 2: give it's a summary of where your relationship stands with
- 34:58Speaker 2: Kelsey right now, kind of how you're doing, doing, what
- 35:00Speaker 2: you're looking forward to, what you're excited about, or maybe
- 35:03Speaker 2: it's the opposite, but I don't think it is.
- 35:05Speaker 4: No, No, all good things. It's been great right now. Obviously,
- 35:10Speaker 4: it's been a funny thing that I was spending a
- 35:12Speaker 4: lot of time in New Orleans with her living with
- 35:14Speaker 4: her roommates. This is the first time we've been in
- 35:17Speaker 4: a place just us and kind of starting to make
- 35:19Speaker 4: a home together. So that's been a really fun. Part
- 35:22Speaker 4: of the beginning of this whole process is we have
- 35:25Speaker 4: our own place. We're doing a lot of stuff, getting
- 35:27Speaker 4: a lot of alone time together, which we found in
- 35:29Speaker 4: our own little way in New Orleans, but this is
- 35:31Speaker 4: even better. A big thing for us right now is
- 35:34Speaker 4: we're just trying to figure out what's going to happen
- 35:36Speaker 4: post show, and we've talked about New York, but being
- 35:39Speaker 4: in LA being here and enjoying it, We've been also
- 35:42Speaker 4: a lot more open to staying here because we think
- 35:44Speaker 4: there's a lot of great opportunity here too. The weather
- 35:47Speaker 4: does not suck if it's a lot of things that
- 35:50Speaker 4: I want to do with playing more golf and tennis
- 35:52Speaker 4: and being in that world. But I think right now
- 35:55Speaker 4: the biggest thing for us is we are both trying
- 35:57Speaker 4: to stay present, enjoy that we aren't traveling all over
- 36:00Speaker 4: the place like we have been the last few months.
- 36:03Speaker 4: Really diving into this experience for both of us, because
- 36:06Speaker 4: it is an experience for both of us right now
- 36:08Speaker 4: and looking forward to what can possibly be in the future.
- 36:11Speaker 4: We're not making any rash decisions, but we both have
- 36:15Speaker 4: enjoyed la and it seems likely that we might stay
- 36:17Speaker 4: here post show. But in our mind this is still
- 36:19Speaker 4: a temporary move. We're still just trying to live in
- 36:22Speaker 4: the present and do the best we can to build
- 36:24Speaker 4: our relationship. That's what we really have been focusing on.
- 36:27Speaker 2: It reminds me of the best piece of advice I've
- 36:29Speaker 2: ever been given. Somebody I look up to a lot.
- 36:32Speaker 2: His name is Bob Goff. He's an author of Love Does.
- 36:37Speaker 2: As my show was going on, there was chaos around me,
- 36:39Speaker 2: and he said, Ben, as chaos ensues, just be where
- 36:43Speaker 2: your feet are, which feels very wow familiar to where
- 36:47Speaker 2: you're at right now. So every day, I I'm not kidding,
- 36:50Speaker 2: since then that was years ago, I tap my feet
- 36:52Speaker 2: where I like when I'm sitting at my desk, and
- 36:54Speaker 2: I tap my feet and just remind myself be where
- 36:56Speaker 2: my feet are. It's been incredible, and it feels like
- 36:59Speaker 2: what you could do right now because you're using your
- 37:02Speaker 2: feet so often, kind of clean this whole thing up
- 37:06Speaker 2: here and finish us up. Obviously, the golden Bachelorette is
- 37:11Speaker 2: happening right now. There is somebody in your fan camp
- 37:14Speaker 2: that's on the show. Jenna, are you watching the Golden Bachelorette.
- 37:20Speaker 3: I haven't had time too. I have to admit I
- 37:23Speaker 3: am trying to choreograph our dances while we're not practicing.
- 37:26Speaker 3: But I was able to meet Kelsey Zad and he
- 37:30Speaker 3: is just absolutely adorable. So I need to get caught
- 37:34Speaker 3: up because I really want to see his journey.
- 37:36Speaker 2: He had a moment this week. Mark is a star. Joey,
- 37:39Speaker 2: you're obviously watching it, right, yes, sir, thoughts so far,
- 37:44Speaker 2: we obviously just saw Mark have his first kiss with Joan.
- 37:47Speaker 2: It's a big deal.
- 37:49Speaker 4: Yeah, Oh my goodness.
- 37:52Speaker 3: They walk the lips. That's so cute.
- 37:55Speaker 2: It was romantic too. It was sweet.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Oh you should have saw Kelsey's face. He did it,
- 38:01Speaker 4: Jenna with like showing a card that said and because
- 38:04Speaker 4: he knows German, and he was doing German like can
- 38:07Speaker 4: you guess what this phrase is? And the camera like
- 38:10Speaker 4: pans over and the phrase says can I have a kiss?
- 38:12Speaker 4: Or something along those lines in German. So Kelsey like
- 38:15Speaker 4: knew it was coming and she just put the pill up.
- 38:17Speaker 4: She's like I can't watch, just tell me what happened.
- 38:19Speaker 4: So it's so fun to see that dynamic. You know
- 38:23Speaker 4: how weird is sometimes to watch yourself on TV, And
- 38:27Speaker 4: we obviously were watching ourselves on TV during that whole
- 38:30Speaker 4: experience that we had in the Bachelor. So I don't
- 38:32Speaker 4: think I've ever seen Kelsey get this giddy about a
- 38:35Speaker 4: show before, and it is so fun. I'm finding myself
- 38:37Speaker 4: looking at her more than I'm watching the TV when
- 38:39Speaker 4: her dad's on, because she's just so excited for him.
- 38:43Speaker 4: Thoughts on the Golden Bacherette is amazing. I'm in love
- 38:46Speaker 4: with the show just because the men seem so awesome.
- 38:50Speaker 4: Kelsey and I cannot get over Charles. Charles's Charles. We're
- 38:55Speaker 4: obsessed with him.
- 38:56Speaker 2: He made my wife ball absolutely ball scene.
- 39:01Speaker 4: He was just I know, I know, but the prom
- 39:03Speaker 4: scene when he was sitting there and thinking about his wife,
- 39:06Speaker 4: I said, Kelsey, I need a new grandpa. I'm grabbing
- 39:09Speaker 4: Charles like I want. He just was the cutest man ever.
- 39:13Speaker 4: Joan's been doing amazing. I love just the feel of
- 39:16Speaker 4: the Golden Bachelor franchise. I just think it's just a
- 39:19Speaker 4: different feeling that show and Kelsey and I are loving it.
- 39:22Speaker 4: We're obviously supporting Mark one thousand percent, but I'm also
- 39:26Speaker 4: blown away with how amazing all these guys are. And uh, yeah, Jenna,
- 39:29Speaker 4: you're gonna have to start watching it because I want
- 39:31Speaker 4: to talk about it as much as I can, So
- 39:33Speaker 4: it'd be fun to talk about it. Practice.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll get on it.
- 39:36Speaker 2: It's something that my wife doesn't watch the franchise. She
- 39:39Speaker 2: loves the Golden Show. She like loves it. Joey, is
- 39:43Speaker 2: it weird for you to see Mark kiss yet?
- 39:45Speaker 3: Like?
- 39:45Speaker 2: Are you there with him yet?
- 39:47Speaker 4: I think I took a meme from yesterday and I
- 39:50Speaker 4: put it on my story when he had the car
- 39:52Speaker 4: and I said, you slide dog you like he was
- 39:54Speaker 4: just a stud doing it. I think it's amazing. I'm
- 39:56Speaker 4: in a different spot than Kelsey is. I don't think
- 39:58Speaker 4: anyone wants to see their parents kissing on TV. But
- 40:01Speaker 4: I'm just I'm team Mark one thousand percent and just
- 40:04Speaker 4: going to support him whatever he does on that show.
- 40:06Speaker 4: I love him.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a he's doing great. He's a star. The
- 40:10Speaker 2: whole thing is amazing and Jones crushing it. Maybe, Yeah,
- 40:13Speaker 2: she'll be on Dance with the Stars here soon, right, now, Jenna,
- 40:18Speaker 2: kind of final question for you. How special is it
- 40:20Speaker 2: for you to see Valve be nominated for an Emmy
- 40:23Speaker 2: for his tribute to Lyn Goodman. Obviously this is a
- 40:27Speaker 2: big season and vow's you know, working that is so important.
- 40:32Speaker 2: What did it feel like for me?
- 40:34Speaker 3: So we were actually nominated together?
- 40:36Speaker 4: Oh, amazing that piece.
- 40:38Speaker 3: Yeah, And but to that point, to be nominated together
- 40:42Speaker 3: was insane, Like what other husband and wife get to
- 40:46Speaker 3: say that they've been nominated for an Emmy for their
- 40:49Speaker 3: work together. So it was definitely like a bucket list
- 40:54Speaker 3: thing to do. And to be there and to be
- 40:56Speaker 3: like surrounded by all of these artistic geniuses was insane.
- 41:02Speaker 3: And then choreographing that piece was a huge honor. Yeah,
- 41:07Speaker 3: just such a special time in our life. And yeah,
- 41:10Speaker 3: to honor Len Goodman who was a high judge for
- 41:13Speaker 3: so many years was amazing.
- 41:14Speaker 2: So yeah, congratulations to the two of you, the two
- 41:19Speaker 2: of you together.
- 41:20Speaker 3: But it's such.
- 41:21Speaker 2: An impressive just thing to have that, and like you said,
- 41:26Speaker 2: for you to be standing next to your spouse, I mean,
- 41:28Speaker 2: if there is not a definition of a power couple,
- 41:31Speaker 2: that would be it. Like, hey, we've been nominated for
- 41:33Speaker 2: an Emmy together.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Yeah, it was crazy. Thank you so much.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Thank you, Joey. I need to create a headline here,
- 41:43Speaker 2: so give me some support. We saw Kelsey with Jonathan
- 41:47Speaker 2: at Tuesday's live taping. Jonathan was obviously there to support
- 41:52Speaker 2: a lot of people, including Jin. Do you think he
- 41:55Speaker 2: was there for more than just a friend? End of
- 41:59Speaker 2: question and the.
- 42:00Speaker 4: Question looks like a little more. I will say this,
- 42:06Speaker 4: I have gotten to know Jonathan since I've been in LA.
- 42:08Speaker 4: We've hung out a few times. I love Jonathan. I
- 42:12Speaker 4: have zero idea of what's going on between the two
- 42:15Speaker 4: of them. I saw that Good Morning America interview with
- 42:19Speaker 4: Jen and Jonathan. I know you probably want me to
- 42:21Speaker 4: say something that helped give some inside intel. My answer
- 42:24Speaker 4: is I have zero idea. I just know that Jonathan
- 42:28Speaker 4: is obviously in Jen's camp supporting her. He's supporting me too.
- 42:31Speaker 4: He always reminded me of he supported me too, So
- 42:34Speaker 4: I'm happy about that. But at the same time, they
- 42:36Speaker 4: seem very close. They seem like they're enjoying being in
- 42:38Speaker 4: LA together.
- 42:39Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 42:41Speaker 4: I have not really asked Jonathan that I wanted to
- 42:43Speaker 4: get to know him for him and kind of separate
- 42:45Speaker 4: the two because I know how tough it is coming
- 42:47Speaker 4: off a show and like having yourself be associated with
- 42:50Speaker 4: the lead, especially when you're not with them. But I
- 42:52Speaker 4: have no idea what's going on with them. I really don't. Jenna,
- 42:54Speaker 4: you got any guesses from what you've seen.
- 42:56Speaker 3: I again, I didn't see the season.
- 42:58Speaker 4: I wanted to put you in there. I wanted to
- 43:01Speaker 4: put you in there, so I'm being on the spot.
- 43:03Speaker 4: I need you to be on the spot too.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Don't worry. You gave me the headline. Jonathan and jen
- 43:08Speaker 2: are very close, says Joey.
- 43:09Speaker 3: That's all thank you close.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all I need. All right, Are the two
- 43:15Speaker 2: of you going to win this season?
- 43:17Speaker 4: Yes, let's go.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 43:21Speaker 4: We did put our name as Team Twinning because a
- 43:24Speaker 4: lot of people said that we looked alike, and the
- 43:26Speaker 4: idea was we put win is capitalized. So we've been
- 43:28Speaker 4: saying it from the beginning. I think when Jenna was,
- 43:32Speaker 4: as we talked about the beginning, disappointed with me being
- 43:36Speaker 4: her partner. Our first goal was just trying to make
- 43:39Speaker 4: the finale, because no Bachelor's ever made the finale before.
- 43:43Speaker 4: But I do think we're both in a really great spot.
- 43:45Speaker 4: Off to the first two weeks and we think that
- 43:47Speaker 4: we do have a chance to do this if we
- 43:48Speaker 4: keep improving the way that we have so the goals
- 43:50Speaker 4: will win this thing for sure. I'm not doing this
- 43:52Speaker 4: for second place, but if that happens, I'll be happy too.
- 43:55Speaker 4: But the goal is to win it.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Gin anything that ad no I again, I say yes,
- 44:01Speaker 3: But that's the ultimate goal, is to I think, be
- 44:03Speaker 3: in the finale. Like Joey said, no bachelor has ever
- 44:07Speaker 3: been there. We've had a ton of bachelorettes in there.
- 44:09Speaker 3: We've had a ton of bachelorettes when so how epic
- 44:12Speaker 3: would it be to win this mirror ball? But to
- 44:15Speaker 3: be the first to do it as well? I would
- 44:17Speaker 3: love that for Joey.
- 44:18Speaker 4: I'd love that for you. Jenna. You need to get
- 44:20Speaker 4: closer to the valves. She only has one, has three.
- 44:22Speaker 4: We got to get her at least.
- 44:24Speaker 3: And the fact that you said only is really annoying.
- 44:26Speaker 3: I have a mirror ball I've won before. But yes,
- 44:30Speaker 3: I would love to add to the stack.
- 44:31Speaker 4: Yes, we're going to try to double it this year.
- 44:34Speaker 4: That's the goal.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Yeah, improved by one hundred percent. Hey, the two of
- 44:38Speaker 2: you are great. We wish you the best. I know
- 44:40Speaker 2: the fan support is out there. Continue to watch Dance
- 44:43Speaker 2: with the Stars. If you're listening, vote for Jenna and
- 44:45Speaker 2: Joey every week. Continue to improve. To the two of you,
- 44:50Speaker 2: Thanks for coming on, Thanks for giving us the insight
- 44:52Speaker 2: into the whole thing. This whole process is so interesting
- 44:56Speaker 2: to me, and it's so exciting to see the two
- 44:58Speaker 2: of you three like, all this work that goes into
- 45:02Speaker 2: then the performance is just awesome. So keep doing your thing.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Thank you, thank you so much, thank you.
