- 0:11The thing isn't though. Now that you say that, I can't
- 0:13see it. You're absolutely right.
- 0:14After we're playing, let's let's talk about that first because I
- 0:17was going to go in a totally different direction.
- 0:19You can make as much money as you need and work your way
- 0:22towards any ship in the game. They they were trying to cash in
- 0:26off of that nostalgia and that hype.
- 0:34Now, hey, now we're recording baby.
- 0:38It's one. It's one of those things, you
- 0:40know, you, you, you just miss it.
- 0:45It's a lot, I'm sure it's a lot of bells and whistles to make
- 0:47sure before we get rolling, but yeah, good to be back.
- 0:51Good to be back. Glad to be back.
- 0:52Glad to have you back here with me.
- 0:54Tav, how you doing today? I'm doing all right.
- 0:57I'm we can dive right into Oh my gosh, tried playing the game
- 1:02today and frustrated a bit frustrating.
- 1:06So. Oh, really?
- 1:10Yeah, I can't. Even we couldn't even get the
- 1:12starting box thing because the Oh yes, you talking?
- 1:17About the first mission there. Yeah, that first mission there
- 1:20was just. 3. The SEU boxes.
- 1:22All weighed like a million capacity or whatever and.
- 1:28You couldn't move it in the elevator.
- 1:30You hit the. Boxes.
- 1:32Too, And that's just what's really frustrating about it, is
- 1:36tried it for Hurston, tried it for Crusader.
- 1:41Why would you do that? Why would you?
- 1:43Why would you work for Hurston? Well, it was after we wanted to
- 1:46do Crusader and after being frustrated not being able to get
- 1:50any of them working, it was like, OK, let's just try
- 1:53somewhere else. And yeah, still the same
- 1:55problem. So hopefully that gets fixed at
- 1:59some point soon. I know it's frustrating for me
- 2:01to, you know? But I thought it was already.
- 2:03Fixed and well, to be true because it's.
- 2:07For me it's a flawless. Here's the thing for me dude,
- 2:11this whole event's been flawless.
- 2:12Like for basically the first day there was, but after the first
- 2:16hot fix I haven't had any issues really.
- 2:20That's pretty. I mean, that's I I feel like
- 2:23that's got it. I don't know, is that atypical?
- 2:25I don't know. I mean, it's all anecdotal
- 2:27everywhere, right, But I did not have that experience.
- 2:31I've had a pretty rough run. Best time it's ever worked is
- 2:34maybe you was with you. So maybe you just got the good
- 2:37Choo Choo going on, you know. Well, I spend most of my time
- 2:41mining, so I'm not really interacting with freight
- 2:44elevators too often outside of a hanger because I mine it, I
- 2:51refine it, and I go to the hanger.
- 2:53It is the hangers that seem to be the OR the elevators, really.
- 2:58Yeah. Well, the freight elevators are
- 2:59the dangerous ones out there in the in, in the public, you could
- 3:04say. Sure.
- 3:06It's been a yeah, it's been a rough, rough jump, that's for
- 3:09sure. So have you gotten far with any
- 3:11of the single corporations there I.
- 3:14Was telling you it was with you, man.
- 3:15That was, you know, it's nice getting past tier one, but yeah,
- 3:20I just haven't had a lot of luck with it.
- 3:23So you just you got a tractor beam.
- 3:28Yeah, yeah. And you hate mining, huh?
- 3:30You can't stand it. Oh yeah, I know.
- 3:32Yeah, it's not for me. I would take you out with me.
- 3:35That's all I've been doing. I probably spent more time in
- 3:37the game this past week than I've spent in the game.
- 3:43I don't. Get rewarded for your mining
- 3:45minerals right so. Yeah, I mean, I don't even care
- 3:47about the skins or anything, I just want the guns.
- 3:51Yeah, OK. Initially.
- 3:53I guess. I guess it's all tears, right?
- 3:55Yeah. Get the rifle, yeah.
- 3:57Yeah, I want the sniper, but pretty much at the very
- 4:02beginning, I was very, very enthusiastic about fighting for
- 4:06our Corp and have an art Corp win this because I love our
- 4:09Corp. I don't love our Corp but like
- 4:12out of the four, come on. I mean, maybe things will
- 4:17change. I got a little bit of bad news.
- 4:19I checked it today and did not look good for.
- 4:24Art Corp. I think it is last place.
- 4:28Yeah, but you know what, that's fitting.
- 4:31That's. Fitting.
- 4:32OK, you know. Our corporal make the most sense
- 4:34'cause it's closest to the jump point and the planets don't
- 4:38orbit the sun, they just the planets stay where they are.
- 4:42It does make sense. So yeah.
- 4:46So that that would make good the most sense.
- 4:49I I thought but now everyone just wants fatcho fatchist gold
- 4:56statue Hurston so. HD.
- 5:02They say it's for the skins but I'm not sure if I believe them.
- 5:05Yeah, it's good looking skins. It's hard to argue with that.
- 5:09Black and gold. Yeah, well, if you had to choose
- 5:15one to have your, your, your crusader man.
- 5:18Yeah, yeah, that's where I'm trying to be.
- 5:21It's it. They make it impossible to be a
- 5:23crusader man when you can't even, you know, get those first
- 5:28three SCU, you know? Oh yeah, Oh yeah.
- 5:32And this. So today on the show, we're
- 5:34going to talk about a lot on the show today because we we skipped
- 5:38a week last week. So we're going to dive in to the
- 5:40Let's talk about. What's it?
- 5:43Called the resource drive of course as as tab and I are are
- 5:47starting to talk about this we're also going to talk a
- 5:49little bit about some of the you could call it drama that's
- 5:53unfolded today on Reddit but then for the rest of the show
- 5:58for. The.
- 6:00Majority of the show, we're going to allow our wonderful
- 6:03guests who call in every week to kind of dictate this
- 6:07conversation and let us know where we're going because this
- 6:10show today is Opencoms Radio, your Star Citizen call in show.
- 6:15I'm Jar Jar. And I'm tav.
- 6:18And this week's question is, who do you work for?
- 6:24So I'm gonna pull up our first guest here.
- 6:27Yeah, our first guest, Someone you may know, But Tav, have you
- 6:31seen this guy in a while? I'm not sure who.
- 6:35Yeah, no, maybe not. Maybe not, I haven't seen this
- 6:39gentleman. In a.
- 6:40Long time. It's been three, 3-4 weeks.
- 6:44Wicket, welcome to Open Comms Radio.
- 6:48Who do you work for? Citizens Citizen, long time
- 6:59listener, 23rd time caller. Nice.
- 7:06And 24. No 23rd We'll roll.
- 7:10With 23, I don't want to argue with the caller here real quick.
- 7:14Everyone can listen. Anytime I can prove jar jar
- 7:17wrong, I'm all in. You can try.
- 7:20You can try. Who do we?
- 7:26Who do I work for? I work for the Fremen.
- 7:30Oh, here we go. I knew it, dude.
- 7:32I, I knew it. I was like, Wicked's not even
- 7:35been in Star Citizen. I was wondering if if you maybe
- 7:38like, you know, pop in on on your own, 'cause we could talk
- 7:42about this event is very much a single player event.
- 7:46Yeah, more or less. I mean, the, the group play
- 7:49aspect of it seems to be this like total garbage from what
- 7:52I've seen and some of the videos I've I've consumed.
- 7:56I haven't, I don't think I've logged, I've logged in to do the
- 8:01three intro missions for all four of the factions.
- 8:04Basically, I finally got those work after going on to EU server
- 8:10the night that we were all supposed to.
- 8:12You know, it was kind of like an org thing.
- 8:14The Guild was going to get together and try out the new
- 8:16mission. And of course, initially I
- 8:21couldn't get it to work. And then finally I just left the
- 8:23group, went into started looking for server that work and finally
- 8:27found one and just knocked all four of those out and haven't
- 8:31played since. But I've seen, you know, they're
- 8:37trying to fix stuff, but they're not having the greatest success.
- 8:40And it seems like there's a so much broken.
- 8:45You know, I'm I'm used to a game that kind of more or less works
- 8:48as intended. So jumping on Star Citizen has
- 8:52is absolutely unattractive right now.
- 8:56So you're also. Having an issue this is.
- 8:58This is crazy to me because like like I just said, I've had very
- 9:01few issues with this. Mission, yeah, but you're just
- 9:03mining the stuff and taking it in and and and.
- 9:07Mining seems like it might be the way to go here.
- 9:09I've done. Maybe the the the the the least
- 9:13friction that you'll get, but it's not the most efficient.
- 9:18I think somebody, one of one of the clips I saw of somebody
- 9:22posted about how you take these missions and, or you, you, it's,
- 9:29you fight MPCS and they, they, the loot they drop you can use
- 9:32to turn in. And that's kind of like the most
- 9:35efficient way to do it. I'm not really sure.
- 9:37I, I haven't even really paid attention.
- 9:39I'll probably, you know, a week or two before the next patch
- 9:43comes out, they'll probably have it all working and I'll take a
- 9:45day or two and just finish it all and not.
- 9:48No way. No way.
- 9:50Try to beat my head against the wall.
- 9:51Oh, you don't, you know. No, Chan, what do you mean
- 9:54finish? You're going to try to finish
- 9:55one of the corpse, or you're going to try to do all four.
- 9:58Well, once the optimal way to do it is is discovered and found to
- 10:03be working, somebody will post, you know, look at me.
- 10:07I, I, I figured it out. I, I cracked the code.
- 10:10This is what you do and just do that and then you'll be done.
- 10:14Well, somebody already did that on Reddit.
- 10:16Somebody in the 1st 36 or 48 hours finished all four of them.
- 10:21OK, without cheating it or? I don't know, they they posted
- 10:26and and they basically it was some streamer or something and
- 10:29they played basically two days straight.
- 10:33Right. Sounds like such a battle,
- 10:35right? But I mean you know, most of
- 10:38most of the time you can like right now everybody I see people
- 10:42like posting in in the Guild discord, it's like oh, I'm like
- 10:461 mission away from it. But now it's not working
- 10:49anymore. I got one more turn in and I
- 10:53finally got the first org done or the first, you know, Hurston
- 10:58or R Corp or whoever they're fighting for done.
- 11:02And from what I can tell, most of these game, most of the most
- 11:07of the stuff that Star Citizen does and CIG puts out, most of
- 11:11the time, there's one. There's a really good optimal
- 11:14way to do all this stuff. And as soon as you crack the
- 11:17code, you just need to rinse and repeat.
- 11:19And within a few days you're done.
- 11:22I don't know how long it'll take, but you know, if it takes
- 11:24a week, I'll just spend a week doing it.
- 11:25And if if I even care, I mean right now I could care less to
- 11:30be honest with you. The rewards don't entice you at
- 11:33all. Let me put it to you this way, I
- 11:37I fresh rolled 1/3 character now and do an awakening from
- 11:41scratch. What?
- 11:45It's really I. Haven't finished?
- 11:46My my first one I haven't I have to do the story and stuff but I
- 11:51I stopped doing the Dune story cause of this event.
- 11:55I'm almost done on the third the the third character.
- 11:57I've almost completely finished the the the main story quest.
- 12:02Yeah. But your third time through it,
- 12:04it's must have been like you're doing it in half the time.
- 12:06Third of the time maybe. Well, I'm just, I'm just playing
- 12:09the game because I enjoy it. It just it listen, you know when
- 12:13when you click on a button and it does what it's supposed to do
- 12:18it's. Just.
- 12:19You don't think about, oh, is this elevator going to work or
- 12:22not work? We're.
- 12:23Going to get to Todd Howard it just.
- 12:25Works, you know, it just just, it's just, there's no, the, the
- 12:31friction is very little in this game.
- 12:34And that's what I enjoy right now.
- 12:38OK, well, you know, it's it so, but I'm still, you know, I'm
- 12:45still paying attention to Star Citizen, I'm still following
- 12:47along. I'm still watching their posts
- 12:49and, you know, watching a couple of different creators And I
- 12:52watch, you know, a lot of our, our, our Guild, our Guild
- 13:01discord and pay attention to what folks were saying.
- 13:04But you know, like a lot of things, it's just like a lot of
- 13:07repetition. It's the same, same shit, just
- 13:12told in a slightly different way, it seems like.
- 13:16And you know, you just kind of I just parse what's going on in,
- 13:20in Discord, what's going on online to figure out, OK, not
- 13:24ready for me to come back to this game right now when I could
- 13:28be, you know, fighting the worm, the real worm.
- 13:34I got 8 today too because I had to take a phone call and wasn't
- 13:37paying attention. What an amateur.
- 13:39Move on dude, on your part. I know man.
- 13:43Kind of fuck, really. I couldn't believe it.
- 13:46I know, I know, I know. Well, yeah.
- 13:49Well, the only reason I did this third character is because
- 13:52there's there's one of the Steam achievements is you know when
- 13:57you. Spoiler alert, if you're
- 13:59thinking about doing Awakening, I'll give you a second if you
- 14:02want to close your ears. OK, I'm second over one of the
- 14:06things you can do when you get eaten by the worm, you go into
- 14:12this thing called a spice dream and you meet this dude inside
- 14:16the spice dream after you've lost everything because when you
- 14:19get eaten by the worm, you lose everything.
- 14:21If you're on a vehicle, you lose the vehicle, you lose everything
- 14:24in your inventory and you basically wake up in your boxer
- 14:27briefs, but. Unrealistic.
- 14:30Why would you keep your boxer briefs?
- 14:33Well, you know. How could I be immersed in a
- 14:35game like that? It's.
- 14:36A game you know it's American audience, you know this is not
- 14:40worth. Speaking of Speaking of, before
- 14:43we finish that bit and before we bring our next guest, Speaking
- 14:47of boxer briefs, Tav and I had a little adventure in Star Citizen
- 14:53and. Tried to.
- 14:55We tried to We were trying to film a little toilet scene in
- 15:01Star Citizen and we had this great idea.
- 15:04I won't tell you about the. Idea at all when you say it like
- 15:06that. Doesn't sound weird at all, no?
- 15:09Well, I was supposed to strip down, right?
- 15:12And then we were going to do some, some movie magic there to,
- 15:15to let you know I'm Naked. But do you push the button and
- 15:20the toilet pops out on the Corsair?
- 15:24You can't sit on it. No.
- 15:27You can't sit so that we we went to what do we go to Tav We did
- 15:31like a. Did you sit?
- 15:32On any of them. I don't think you can sit on any
- 15:34of them. You cannot sit on any of them.
- 15:37No, you could sit on the Coursera one.
- 15:39It was just it wasn't synced for us.
- 15:42Like I could sit on it. That's right.
- 15:45You didn't see it just looked like you were just sitting on
- 15:47thin air. So it was just really none of
- 15:49the, we couldn't find a single toilet lit, you know, And I
- 15:52think we all scaled all the way up, though.
- 15:54Polaris, right? Yeah, you just couldn't find a
- 15:57toilet at work. Yeah, this.
- 15:58Is what we pay for bro. Anyway, anyway we get hit of it.
- 16:05Wait, how sad is that? Like, but if, if toilets start
- 16:08working, you wait, you'll see some good content because we
- 16:10were trying to, we're trying to make something special here, you
- 16:13know, and they just won't give us the tools we need to do it.
- 16:16Yeah, it should be our pitch. Anyway, wicked, I'll let you
- 16:20finish your Dune thought, and I'll bring it.
- 16:22On well, anyway, the you get it. You there's an achievement where
- 16:26when you when you die by the worm, the guy offers you a new
- 16:29sand bike. And then the achievement is to
- 16:33turn them down and say, no, I don't need your, your, your,
- 16:35your damn welfare sand bike. I'll, I'll make my own and that
- 16:41gives you an achievement. So I just made a new character
- 16:43just so I could do that achievement and just to get that
- 16:46one achievement was I'd rather spend, you know what, 5-6 hours
- 16:51to make a character to get to that point.
- 16:53It's just to turn down a sand bike after getting eaten then
- 16:56play Star Citizen is the point. Well CIG, you if you get
- 17:02anything from this, enable silly achievements and then wicket,
- 17:05we'll play your game again. Well, party hats.
- 17:08Just add party hats. All right, so like, if you could
- 17:12scoot down there, scoot down the couch.
- 17:15For those of you listening who don't know Oppacom's radio, we,
- 17:18we have callers call in and we have a big old couch here.
- 17:21Anyone can pop on and join the couch.
- 17:24Just join our Discord. We record Wednesday nights at
- 17:279:00 PM Eastern Time. If you're not on Eastern Time,
- 17:30you got to figure that one out for yourself because I don't.
- 17:32I don't know where you are, but we're going to scoot on down
- 17:36here and invite our next guest onto the show, Cosmic Hobo.
- 17:41Hobo. Cosmic Hobo Another regular here
- 17:43at Open Comms Radio. Cosmic who do you work for?
- 17:48Micro tech. Nice.
- 17:52I like the cold, I like the snow, I like the sleek
- 17:56aesthetics. I don't.
- 18:01I don't hate them. Next I'll be working for
- 18:06probably Hurston only because they're winning and look at the
- 18:13winning tier 5 armor thing. But I'd rather be working for
- 18:19Crusader next month. But.
- 18:21Oh, I didn't know that. You think there's a lot of that
- 18:23effect going around where people might complete one corporation
- 18:26and then go, all right, who's likely to win this thing and
- 18:30then just make that their second, A little bit of the rich
- 18:33get richer there, you know? Yeah.
- 18:35Is that how it works? We're one of there's going to be
- 18:38a winner and then everybody else.
- 18:42That the winner gets the So the winner gets the company name on
- 18:50Pyro Jump Point station. It's a 5% landing zone discount.
- 18:57On everything in the in not, I think it's not just in the
- 19:00landing center, but also in the orbit station.
- 19:03So if it's Hurston, it'll be what's that called So.
- 19:06Doesn't it make sense just to get Hurston because that's where
- 19:09most of the ships are sold? That's what most people are
- 19:13probably thinking, yes. 'Cause that was the most
- 19:19expensive thing you're ever going to buy is a ship, right?
- 19:21And if. Most of the.
- 19:23Ships are 5% cheaper. That's probably a good thing.
- 19:29Although I think it's. A little short sighted because
- 19:31they can re shuffle that inventory, ship inventory at any
- 19:35time. For the other, yeah, they can,
- 19:37yeah. Yeah, but they haven't done that
- 19:39and ever. Yeah, no, that would that would
- 19:44require or like a reason for them, you know, they would need
- 19:48like they'd have to have some kind of like gameplay.
- 19:51They'd have to care. Theory.
- 19:53Yeah, I mean it's 5. Percent.
- 19:55It's not, it's not huge. I mean this is.
- 19:57Yes, they care about the game. We did.
- 20:01I know you don't, but. Yeah, traitor.
- 20:05I care, I can't listen. Do you see how high your voice
- 20:08went there? I care, I care.
- 20:14Don't you never sing the Star Spangled Banner?
- 20:17You'll better. Listen, I'm in the middle of
- 20:21battles right now, so. But the the the other thing that
- 20:25the winner gets, so Hearst wins and there's like a a unique
- 20:27armor. Everyone who maxes out the
- 20:29Hearst in tier gets this unique armor.
- 20:33It's just a black piece of armor with your logo on it.
- 20:35Isn't there a isn't there a a reward for every tier you
- 20:41achieve for each yes faction and you get that still?
- 20:48Yeah, you. Get.
- 20:51Your tier you get, As you go through tiers you get those. 5%
- 20:55you don't get the station renaming and you don't get the
- 20:57special. Well, it's well, everyone gets
- 21:00access to the 5%, it's just that Hurston, you can only get that
- 21:04discount at Hurston or Hurston stations.
- 21:08Yeah, it's pretty balanced. I mean, even if you wanted to
- 21:10show up in, let's say you only had six hours for this entire
- 21:13event, should it be working like you should be able to get to to
- 21:19your to possibly right like and collect?
- 21:22Yeah, easily. Should it be working as the?
- 21:27Obviously the caveat but. As always.
- 21:32Yeah, I don't have faith. I'll give it a shot.
- 21:34Again here in a week. You guys can just hang out with
- 21:38me. Come with me, we'll get it done.
- 21:41Oh. 4.3 so so hold on tab wait we're we're going to get to 4.3.
- 21:45Let's let let's do it hobo have have his moment.
- 21:49We'll have our next caller come on and then we'll get to the 4.3
- 21:53drama in a second here. So hobo I mean, is it working
- 21:59for you? Is it successful for you?
- 22:01How you liking it? Have you had much time in the in
- 22:03the event? Yeah, I was doing fine right
- 22:07until right until just a few minutes when I started losing
- 22:12because what I've been doing is the the the resource tribe large
- 22:17cargo rescue. So that is the mission where you
- 22:22have to, well, the way they want you to do it is to destroy the
- 22:31ships attacking this abandoned cargo ship.
- 22:33So then you can either unload the cargo ship or take the cargo
- 22:37ship back to wherever. I just scoot on over to the ship
- 22:44as fast as I can, hop out, use my previous ship as target
- 22:49practice for the AI while I run to the bridge, get in the in the
- 22:53pilot's seat and just boost out of there.
- 22:57This. Usually works.
- 23:00Yes, it's very quick. You don't have to.
- 23:01You don't have to do. Any loading you don't.
- 23:03Have to fight any cargo elevators it's.
- 23:07And when you get the ship and you you dock it back at base,
- 23:10you don't have to unload it manually.
- 23:11You just you have to unload it, but there's only nine boxes
- 23:14compared to a lot for the usual cargo mission.
- 23:21Oh 'cause they're the longer they're the 32 SCU boxes instead
- 23:26of it's always it was like 4 SCU or like 8 SCU boxes I think.
- 23:31They're four SC US on the large cargo and the normal large cargo
- 23:35missions and it sucks because there's so many fucking boxes.
- 23:43Bro I'm I'm mining, it's all for SCU boxes for me too.
- 23:47Yeah, well for this it's like 3 large boxes and then a handful
- 23:54of tiny smaller ish boxes for patrol of dime.
- 23:59So that's that's easy. That's a quick on the.
- 24:02Is that like the optimal way, not duping?
- 24:06Yeah, that's the way to do it. That is the fastest way to do
- 24:09it. Broccoli Rob's been doing it
- 24:10that way to have you, Me and Lord Anubis tried that the first
- 24:15week if you recall. Vaguely, yes.
- 24:18And then we did not succeed. None of us went into the
- 24:23cockpit. It was a Caterpillar there.
- 24:25None of us went into the. Cockpit I do remember.
- 24:26Remember. And it blew up and then Anubis
- 24:28got like a Pisces and like he flew past me.
- 24:32It was just it was a huge disaster all the way through.
- 24:37I hate the Caterpillar ones. We all got out of there, but we
- 24:41didn't get any of the cargo and then we just we shut the game
- 24:44off for two days after that. Well, if you take, what's crazy
- 24:50is if you take that ship, I don't know if this is still that
- 24:52way, but I did it with somebody else.
- 24:54And when you take the ship from that mission, you drop the cargo
- 24:58off, you got to take your own ship back out, right, 'cause if
- 25:01you take that ship again, 'cause I think we had AC2.
- 25:04And it was like, oh, hell yeah, we'll just use the C2 to do the
- 25:06rest of these missions. And once we dropped off that
- 25:09cargo once, it just poof, we were out in the middle of space,
- 25:14you know, both left in the middle of nowhere.
- 25:16And it's like, oh, OK, well, this is maybe call it here.
- 25:21That's some of those silly, Yeah, that's some of those silly
- 25:23things that they, they don't ever, it's like they don't
- 25:28finish. It says it's not even an edge
- 25:30case. I don't want to call it an edge
- 25:31case because obviously if you're going to steal the ship and
- 25:34you're going to take it back and it's like AC2, what a great ship
- 25:38to keep using. Obviously players are going to
- 25:40try to keep. Using it.
- 25:42Yeah. So for that mission in
- 25:44particular, there's two things that I have for this steal the,
- 25:48you know, ship or to take the CARC from the ship.
- 25:51Mission 1 is the fact that you go in that ship and it's just
- 25:55fully operable, like all you have to do is turn the engines
- 25:59on and go is ridiculous. There should be a fuse.
- 26:03Remember fuses, you guys remember that?
- 26:06You think you're too. You think you're too hard?
- 26:08There should be a few, maybe it maybe if you have a fuse and you
- 26:11put the fuse in it, then it can turn back on, you know,
- 26:14something like that. Just something to to to
- 26:16demonstrate like because you get the mission and it goes, our
- 26:19ship got like shut down or stuck or something and you get there
- 26:23and it's fine and there's no one in it.
- 26:25Yeah, it would make a lot more sense.
- 26:27Of like all the fuses were burnt out and you had to replace the
- 26:29fuses and then you could for like and those are cheap at a
- 26:33station, right so. Well, and then that also gives
- 26:36you an opportunity to have like a, a team on that because
- 26:42wouldn't it be cool if it's a Caterpillar or C2 and you get on
- 26:46and you don't necessarily know which fuse or how many fuses you
- 26:49need to replace? But if you want to take that
- 26:51ship, you better do it quick or you're going to get shot at by
- 26:54these other guys. So then you you have a team.
- 26:58You get additional. Functionality of ships like the
- 26:59Vulture that can manufacture. Fuses can it?
- 27:04Yep. Yeah.
- 27:05Whoa. So I just think and now that has
- 27:09another whole nother use like yeah, anyway, good idea, great.
- 27:17Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's just, it's one of
- 27:20those things where it's like, all right, I know, I know we're
- 27:24not done and everything. And I know you now they have
- 27:27this monthly schedule schedule, sorry.
- 27:30And I just feel like they're like they're, you know, they're
- 27:35they're pushing it out to get it out on time.
- 27:37But it's such like a self-imposed timeline.
- 27:40Like when you have rather they just waited an extra 2 weeks, 3
- 27:45weeks a month, fleshed it out more and then it lands like more
- 27:51thought out. 100% I don't know how we who do we have to bribe
- 27:59off? I don't know what what you have
- 28:00to do over at CIG to get that to be the case, because I do think
- 28:04that's the biggest problem. I mean, just me trying to get
- 28:08friends to play. It's like, hey, for this patch,
- 28:10you know, let's pop in now. The cargo doesn't work.
- 28:13And there's this refrain of like, does this ever work when
- 28:17they drop a patch? This is why I don't play and you
- 28:22know, because they kill 3 hours of their time to not get
- 28:25anywhere right? That is just so damaging I feel
- 28:30like. And so I don't I I don't Yeah.
- 28:33If you all have any ideas, I don't know how to fix that
- 28:36problem. Do more with PTU, open it up for
- 28:40more players, incentivize it more.
- 28:45This is always the case where in PTU it never gets stress test
- 28:50enough and then it hits live and immediately everyone in their
- 28:56uncle stress tests it and breaks it and it's just like we should
- 29:00have seen this in in the PTU but we didn't because they didn't
- 29:04have enough people on PTU. I feel like PTU is part of the
- 29:08problem. No, it shouldn't be.
- 29:11Well, it absolutely shouldn't be, because it should be where
- 29:14things are tested. They just never get enough
- 29:17people to actually test. The problem is, is that the PTU
- 29:21does not does not for what? For whatever reason, whether
- 29:25it's lack of stress, lack of participation, lack of whatever,
- 29:30the PTU does not reveal a lot of these things.
- 29:32So they don't catch them or they do catch them, but they, you
- 29:35know, they're on a timeline, you know, who knows what the reasons
- 29:38are? Let's just let's assume, let's
- 29:40give them grace and say. OK, they have fully said it's
- 29:43because people don't play, they don't stress.
- 29:48Test. I'll never play the inside
- 29:49again. Here here.
- 29:51Here's the deal though the PTU. The reason it's the problem is
- 29:55that get rid of the PTU, just throw it throw throw everything
- 30:00out into into the live environment.
- 30:03Yes. Listen, hear me.
- 30:04Out. Hear me out if they make like
- 30:08when they had the the the the what the test branch, what do
- 30:12they call it where you still maintained your your progress?
- 30:17Do it that way. Have a live stable branch and
- 30:20have the the test branch. But whatever you do in one, like
- 30:25if if you get rap in one, it'll carry over to the other and vice
- 30:29versa. And that way you're not losing
- 30:32anything. People will continue to play.
- 30:34But you know what, whether repeat, whether you want to
- 30:37admit it or not, people, this is a game that has progress in it.
- 30:42This this is a game that has a wallet.
- 30:45All right, most people, they could give two shits about the
- 30:50new shiny ship. They just want to get in the
- 30:52ship and play fly around pirate, not pirate mine.
- 30:56And they want their shit to work, plain and simple.
- 31:01They don't care about testing. They don't care about helping
- 31:05like, well, I already paid, I paid 200 bucks for the ship and
- 31:08it doesn't work. You know, that's all they're
- 31:11thinking about. That's that's, that's the way I
- 31:13look at it and. What I was saying they need to
- 31:15incentivize the PTU. Screw.
- 31:19The PTU. PTU.
- 31:20Is a problem man, I'm telling you.
- 31:21Get rid of it if everybody. Playing what you just described
- 31:24was the PTU but with with the with fucking.
- 31:32Exactly. Persistent with everybody,
- 31:33playing in it with everybody. Then you're splitting the player
- 31:37base like that. Doesn't make any sense.
- 31:42Then then just get rid. Of it in general, because might
- 31:44come from. The PTU is irrelevant because
- 31:47nothing they do in the PTU does anything to further the game in
- 31:51the in in the in the live environment.
- 31:54The live environment is still screwed up.
- 31:56It doesn't have been, I say. PTU.
- 32:00This patch has been out three weeks and it's still busted.
- 32:04It's not entirely busted. There are things that are wrong,
- 32:07yes, but you can play the game. This is not a 3.18 situation
- 32:11again. I'm not saying that, but it's
- 32:14there's still enough broken in it.
- 32:15I mean, it doesn't matter. They're still iterating on this
- 32:18live environment. They're still fixing the live
- 32:21environment and everybody's playing it and they're playing
- 32:24it and stressing it because this is the only game in town.
- 32:27If it is the only game in town, this is where we'll get fixed,
- 32:30and it'll get fixed a lot faster.
- 32:32I feel like is there I mean. What is?
- 32:34What is the the the PTU? Is irrelevant.
- 32:38Like how many? I don't think you've ever played
- 32:41on an early PTU build because those are fucking nightmares.
- 32:44All right, hold on, hold on. I want to I want to continue
- 32:46this conversation, but I also want to get our next caller in
- 32:48because I just don't want to keep them waiting more.
- 32:50So we'll, we'll, we'll continue with this for a minute, but
- 32:54we're going to let our, our next caller, our regular caller here
- 32:57on Open Comms Radio, Lord Anubis, join, join the couch
- 33:00here. If everyone can just scoot down
- 33:02that Lord Anubis in here. Lord Anubis, welcome to Open
- 33:05Comms Radio. Who do you work for and what do
- 33:09you think about the PTUI? Currently work for Jagotech.
- 33:17What's this? It's a real life company.
- 33:22Hold on, I'm trying. To dox yourself.
- 33:23Don't dox yourself. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:25You want. Do I?
- 33:26Do I have to. You want me to beep that?
- 33:28No one knows. Yeah, sure, why not Hold.
- 33:30On do you need to? What do they do?
- 33:31What do they make of that company?
- 33:34Laser lighting? Well that's fucking.
- 33:36That's fucking cool. Yeah, I do assembly and I help
- 33:41with refining the manufacturing processes and.
- 33:45Refining. Sooning to soon to work on
- 33:51helping develop boards and and software for their systems I'm
- 33:58hoping. Very well, Lord Anubis, what I
- 34:01got. Which Corp have you been working
- 34:04for in Star Citizen? Sorry, which corporation you've
- 34:11been working for? Our Corp?
- 34:14Hell yeah, dude. Yeah, sorry about the confusion
- 34:18there. Just had a little bit of a weird
- 34:21message come on through. Apparently someone from Sig was
- 34:26thinking about calling in today. I I was just reading that.
- 34:30From Cloud Imperium Games. Yeah, that's what I heard.
- 34:35Oh yeah, hold on. I see him.
- 34:36I see him here, actually. Anubis if you don't.
- 34:40Mind, when is he gonna? If you don't mind waiting.
- 34:42Well, if you don't mind waiting, could you give him your spot?
- 34:47OK. Just for just for a minute here.
- 34:49Yeah. So this is really cool.
- 34:51We got our own special guest from CIG out of Frankfurt, Jens
- 34:57Flores. Jens Flores, welcome to Open
- 35:01Coms Radio. We're happy to have you, Jens.
- 35:04Hello, how are you today? I'm, I'm doing great, Jens,
- 35:11really excited to, to talk to you and excited to talk to you
- 35:16actually about the event, the, the resource drive event we have
- 35:19going on. We have a lot of players even on
- 35:23this call right now who've been having lots of problems with the
- 35:25freight elevators. Can you tell us what's what's
- 35:30going on with that? Yes.
- 35:33So we have been working on these for quite some time and
- 35:41incorporating them into the game has been wonderful and we see
- 35:46that players are building communities around them and so
- 35:52we. Players are building communities
- 35:55around the freight elevators. Yes, yes.
- 35:59Was this an intended feature? It was a hope.
- 36:05We we hope that the players would come together, that they
- 36:08would see each other and want to help.
- 36:11So, you know, there are things that we did not anticipate, but
- 36:19we did hope for. Could you speak?
- 36:22What are some of those things that you didn't anticipate?
- 36:28Well, the response for everyone to use the elevators every day,
- 36:37when you have such a large universe, then you know, we, we,
- 36:46we would think that other people would do other missions.
- 36:52That's very interesting, Yens. Why?
- 36:54Why would you think, why wouldn't you just assume that
- 36:57people would find the most efficient way to to complete the
- 36:59mission? It wouldn't.
- 37:01That makes sense. Like From especially knowing
- 37:03your your your gamers, the people who play this game.
- 37:10Well we have to guide the game, we normally do not listen too
- 37:18much to feedback otherwise it it may ruin the creative process if
- 37:26if that makes sense. Oh, it's obvious.
- 37:32Jens, there's been a lot of talk lately, especially like on
- 37:40Reddit about how you guys kind of you, you promise you tease
- 37:46something and then when it comes closer to that, that patch time,
- 37:51you usually pull away from it. The the recent examples on
- 37:55Reddit, there's these cooperative zones that you were
- 37:57like, it's not a sandbox, It's not this, it's a cooperative
- 38:00zone. And then today you guys pulled
- 38:04that back and you said, no, we're taking these out.
- 38:08These are sandbox missions, these kinds of features that you
- 38:14kind of brag about and tease and then and then pull away.
- 38:18Is that a strategy of CIGS or? Well, sometimes we see a dynamic
- 38:28is going so well, we may put things on hold in order to give
- 38:35people the opportunity to play around with what we have been
- 38:40able to provide. OK, OK.
- 38:46And there's some other features like engineering, for example,
- 38:49which we heard about like a couple years ago.
- 38:52And engineering is not yet in the game, Is it?
- 38:57Is is, Can you talk a little bit about what's going on with
- 39:00engineering? Yes, yes, it is important.
- 39:05We understand people want to play Scotty.
- 39:12However, the team for engineering has been diverted.
- 39:19Currently we are developing a new version of the flight model
- 39:27and once that is done, we and and we may go through several
- 39:33stages to see and test. Then we can hire staff to remake
- 39:41engineering. Oh, so the engineering team is
- 39:44working on on a new flight model, Yes.
- 39:49Is that has it always been the same team working on the
- 39:52engineering in the in the flight model?
- 39:57That I cannot say. Interesting, Interesting.
- 40:01Well, Jens Flores Flores from CIG Frankfurt, thank you.
- 40:07Thank you for stopping in today. Is there anything else you'd
- 40:10like to share with the Open Comms community?
- 40:13Any news from CIG? Yes, we are to release 3 new
- 40:18ships. One of them is for a new style
- 40:23of gameplay and a new mechanic in the game.
- 40:27Cool. What's can you elaborate on that
- 40:30a little bit? Yes.
- 40:32So we have the biological loop where you have water, you have
- 40:42food and logically this is a simulation.
- 40:47So now we have liquid and solid waste and we are creating a new
- 40:59storyline that is a resource drive to restock the reactors
- 41:05for the region fluid. This is the culmination of the
- 41:10region crisis. And to help with that we have
- 41:15ships with tanks on them. Cutlass.
- 41:20They are cutlasses and they are fitted with tanks to transport
- 41:24this waste and players will be able to, in a similar fashion to
- 41:28mining, drop off the refinery for profit and to and to earn
- 41:35rewards. Are you?
- 41:36Are you are? Very excited.
- 41:38I'm sorry, are you, are you, are you alluding to a poop?
- 41:41Loop. We prefer waste, solid and
- 41:48liquid waste. Jens Flores, everybody from CIG
- 41:54Frankfurt, thank you, thank you, thank you, Jens for stopping by.
- 42:00Thank you. Wow, wow, wow, that was.
- 42:05It's not every day we get let. Me, just get back in the seat
- 42:09here. Who was that?
- 42:10There's those, Jens Flores. Sorry to keep you, Lord Anubis.
- 42:14That that was, I wish that was some shit Flores, I mean.
- 42:21Well, he's he's his father's German, but his mother's
- 42:23Spanish. What kind of?
- 42:26Spanish. No, his Argentinian.
- 42:28And they took his mother's name because they're progressive.
- 42:32I don't. Yeah, she's, she's an
- 42:33Argentinian. Sounds really European.
- 42:36So I like that, Anubis. I'd I'd like to have Jens Flores
- 42:43back. We should we should hit him up
- 42:46on Discord and see if he'll come back.
- 42:49Yeah, yeah, I don't think he will.
- 42:52No. No, I have no doubts.
- 42:58Damn, damn. Well, Lord Anubis, you've been
- 43:01you've been here for a short time now prior to you coming in.
- 43:07We were having a a heated discussion and I kind of broke
- 43:11us in the middle of we were talking about the PTU versus the
- 43:14PU and how or yeah, it's the PTU versus the PU wicket had, which
- 43:23I thought I do think is a good point wicket about the the PTU.
- 43:28Like nobody plays it. If they're going to be testing
- 43:31and fixing things in the PU anyway and nobody's playing the
- 43:34PTU, why bother having one? Those early builds and PTU will
- 43:44say it all but. Yeah, but the early bills, they
- 43:48last a few hours and then there's they, they iterate on it
- 43:52and then they fix. I'm just telling you, the onus
- 43:54will be on fixing the stuff. It'll get fixed a lot quicker.
- 43:58There will be that they'll have all the stress test they want.
- 44:03Just throw it up against the wall, see what stakes and and
- 44:06then have the mechanic. Available if they have to.
- 44:08Roll back, roll back. I don't know what how it could
- 44:12get much worse. Rollbacks are way worse.
- 44:16I remember rollbacks a. Little then you lose all.
- 44:18You lose all your stuff in a rollback like you lose all any.
- 44:21Progress that you grind, yeah. You're you're saying two things
- 44:24at the same time. You want persistence, but you
- 44:27also want rollbacks like. I don't get it.
- 44:30If if it breaks so much that people can't play, just roll it
- 44:34back to a state where it was playable.
- 44:37Figure out it is playable. Throw it back out, see if it
- 44:40works. And we're not talking about
- 44:42rollbacks of a week or two weeks.
- 44:44We're talking hours, you know. Here's the thing, this I'll
- 44:48playable already. Yeah, I'll push back on you,
- 44:51Wicket. It's more playable now than it's
- 44:53ever been. Like I've been playing all week.
- 44:56I know I'm kind of the exception here because I've just been
- 44:58mining, but I've had virtually no issues.
- 45:01So you're you're doing a game loop that is kind of working
- 45:06right now, but what about all those people that are trying to
- 45:09play? The So you want to punish those?
- 45:11With go to another server. By doing a full rollback.
- 45:14No, I'm not saying that I'm. Just saying that though like if
- 45:18for hours. It's not working, calm down.
- 45:20I'm just saying that's an option if it gets so bad like let's say
- 45:24you. Get a loop.
- 45:25Away with PTU. Let's say you do away with PTU
- 45:29and you just throw it out there. Now all of a sudden, you know,
- 45:33instead of having a couple of 1000 people playing a, a build
- 45:37and quote UN quote stressing it, now you have 10s of thousands of
- 45:41people, if not hundreds of thousands of people playing it
- 45:44and stressing it. Now you're really going to get
- 45:46stress and now it's going to reveal all the problems now.
- 45:52It's. Common ground here of like, OK,
- 45:55so everybody. Wants.
- 45:57The the PTU to get more of a stress test.
- 46:02And I, I mean, I agree the game is working.
- 46:03Probably a lot of these missions are working, but I mean even
- 46:06just for specific, you know, specifically today.
- 46:10Well, I'm just saying the argument.
- 46:11You know, my partner can be like, hey, like I can see the
- 46:13problem right here. It says on the on the freight
- 46:16elevator that this is, you know, a million capacity and that's
- 46:21why it can't be moved over. Like I can see right here on the
- 46:24elevator, like there's a, there's obviously a a typo here
- 46:27that keeps it from being moved over.
- 46:31My only question is like, does that really need 10,000 people
- 46:35to see that? Like couldn't, wouldn't that be
- 46:37aptu bug? Like I'm just I'm a little suss
- 46:42on like some of these problems are like, well, we all these
- 46:44problems needed, you know, 10s of thousands more people.
- 46:49Or they just need. More time?
- 46:50I don't know, that just seems like it could have needed a
- 46:52little more time. The PTU or the PTU needs to be
- 46:55more. It needs to be more something
- 46:58seems like we all agree on that, right?
- 47:00That would help the PTA. I don't.
- 47:02Think it's even getting thousands of people in the PTU.
- 47:04I don't think it gives enough people at all.
- 47:07The thing that's. That's kind of the general
- 47:11argument all the time we have this PTU, but nobody's
- 47:13participating. So when we incentivize it.
- 47:17OK, hear me. If nobody's participating, it's
- 47:21not fulfilling its function all right.
- 47:24Fair. Sure, If it's not fulfilling its
- 47:26function, just do away with it. Yeah, then.
- 47:30Everybody will participate in testing the game.
- 47:33It does this game. We'll work it to.
- 47:34Separate and Congrats. That stinks.
- 47:36Bulldozing the house and then we have a more stable.
- 47:39People hold on, one at a time, one at a time, one at a time.
- 47:41Everybody suffer. To have go.
- 47:43For it, break it for everyone. And we hold.
- 47:45On Wicks it for. Everyone I.
- 47:47Just think we have. Great stability.
- 47:49Now, outside of like a lot of that's thanks to the PTU, Like
- 47:55we owe a lot to the PTU, at least hammer, you know,
- 47:58hammering out some of the obvious before it gets to the
- 48:03live build. Yeah, a lot of early go through
- 48:06for that. If so, if that's working, let's
- 48:10yeah, let's I'd say double down on the on the PTU and make it
- 48:14yeah, let's incentivize it. I don't, you know, I just don't
- 48:17know what's an appropriate incentivization, you know, to
- 48:20get people in there. Yeah, I don't think.
- 48:23That's the argument is how do you incentivize it but not
- 48:27destroy the whole thing? So then we just send it to live
- 48:30because who needs a dev server? Am I right folks?
- 48:33Yeah, I remember that. I remember the days before PTU
- 48:37and those patches were, well I mean it was we all remember.
- 48:42Like those patches were unplayable.
- 48:43Every patch. Well, they put out patches and
- 48:46then and then they wiped stuff and everybody started over and
- 48:50then, you know, yeah, that's that sucked.
- 48:53There was the persistence, wasn't there?
- 48:55There was no way to test persistence.
- 48:57I I argue persistence still isn't here because every, every
- 49:01major patch cycle, we're still missing shit.
- 49:04Some people get lucky and they miss less stuff than others, you
- 49:07know, There seems to be no rhyme or reason.
- 49:09There's like some some broken function that is not carrying
- 49:13over the persistent inventories the way it should, and that
- 49:17hasn't worked now for over a year.
- 49:20Yeah, I mean, and these are these are problems that need to
- 49:23be fixed. But you got to understand they
- 49:27haven't had enough time. And once they finish the flight
- 49:31model, they can get back to the game.
- 49:33You know, they can get back to like the other things, but but
- 49:36they gotta take care of the flight model.
- 49:37It's just to be perfected. Yeah, it's the most important
- 49:41thing in the game, dynamics, economy.
- 49:46Are you gonna have? Fun. 2nd tier.
- 49:49Keeping anything in your inventory or, or keeping even
- 49:53your ships is secondary to the experience of flying through
- 49:56space. And unfortunately it it's just
- 50:00not something that they, you know.
- 50:04Anubis, you said something. You said something hilarious the
- 50:06other day. You said if this were a
- 50:09submarine video game, the flight model would be perfect.
- 50:13It is, because that's exactly what it's like.
- 50:15It's like flying a submarine. You, you, you slow down.
- 50:19It's like as though you're flying through water.
- 50:22Like, why? Why am I boosting and then
- 50:25slowing down to some arbitrary speed after I boost?
- 50:29If I'm in fucking space, even in atmo, it's like, it just doesn't
- 50:33feel right. It feels like you're underwater.
- 50:36Yeah. Just fly decoupled.
- 50:38Everywhere. Yeah, yeah.
- 50:41I mean it's, it's, I mean decoupled's fine, but decoupled
- 50:45still feel doesn't feel right, not for space, I mean, or even
- 50:49if you if you boost and decoupled on speed.
- 50:52Yeah. And if you boost and decoupled,
- 50:54you still slow down after your boost is over.
- 50:57So it doesn't like there there can be a Max speed obviously for
- 51:02your boost like I understand that, but like to have it just
- 51:05slow down like I should just keep staying at that boosted
- 51:08speed if I'm in space. Yes, and we can talk about that
- 51:12and we can, we can critique it and everything else like that.
- 51:15But honestly, I think it works. And and that's why the whole
- 51:20flight model development bull crap, which you know it, that's
- 51:25a lot of physics. It's a lot of physics to
- 51:27physicalize raindrops or whatever, you know, air and
- 51:31ailerons and all these other things.
- 51:33I mean, it's a lot if you're riding it into an engine that
- 51:38doesn't already have it. And frankly, it's not important
- 51:44the the dynamics of the game. The thing that keeps people in
- 51:47the game, they're already enjoying it.
- 51:48They're already enjoying flying. You know what Master Models is
- 51:52as flotted, as flotted as it is works.
- 51:55I mean, it it, it's fine for a space game.
- 51:58It doesn't need to be extremely realistic, but it does need to
- 52:01be. I disagree.
- 52:03That it's fine, but yeah, I mean.
- 52:06I mean, I do think they need to redo the fight model.
- 52:08I think it's ridiculous the way it is now, but.
- 52:11But they want to go full on physics and all this other stuff
- 52:15and they, you know how turbulence will affect it and,
- 52:19and that is fine. But that is fine when you've
- 52:22already had, when you already have a, the structure of an MMO
- 52:27that's supposed to build community and keep people coming
- 52:29back and give them a reason to come back every day outside of
- 52:33community events. Well, that, that's what they
- 52:36need to do first, because the flight model for right now, it's
- 52:40fine. It's adequate.
- 52:42It is it, is it great? Is it the best?
- 52:44No, but they don't need that right now.
- 52:46They need to build the game and then we're fine.
- 52:50They just don't have that. They're, they're trying to,
- 52:52they're trying to work on technology and technology and
- 52:54technology when right now what's critical is getting more people
- 52:58in the game and excited to purchase more ships because
- 53:01that's how they fund themselves, you know?
- 53:08Yeah, no, that's a fairpoint. I would, I would also say that I
- 53:11think the flight model isn't like the only thing.
- 53:17I don't think that's what I don't think that's taking away
- 53:20the resources. I think it was actually taking
- 53:22away the resources is Squadron and they're still working on
- 53:25Squadron and they're not working on Star Citizen.
- 53:28And I think that's that's just the truth.
- 53:30I mean, they're they're going back and they're having to redo
- 53:33an entire game because it's now too old and needs all of its
- 53:38graphics redone, needs all of its sound redone.
- 53:40And you know, they said, oh, that should free up resources
- 53:45for, you know, PT or PU, but. Right, but it's like that's what
- 53:50we the first of all, that's what we paid for.
- 53:51I mean I don't know about y'all but that's what I paid for is to
- 53:54work on the P the the live MMO game.
- 53:59That is actually an interesting question because different
- 54:01people backed for different reasons the.
- 54:03Different, right, Yeah, yeah, If you backed for the single player
- 54:07game, you're probably great. If you backed for the MMO like
- 54:11like I did, I'm like, well, I don't like it's it does look
- 54:14cool. Mark Hamill and whatever looks
- 54:16great. Wasn't the MMO the original
- 54:19thing and then the the the. Squadron was the original.
- 54:24Was Squadron the original? Yeah.
- 54:27So yeah, from the Kickstarter backer.
- 54:29But then it just kind of started growing, like, Oh yeah, we have
- 54:31a multiplayer function. Chris Roberts kept running his
- 54:35mouth. Yeah, they just, it kept
- 54:38growing. I mean, and the on the one hand,
- 54:41thanks. Because like what we have today
- 54:44is all, all things said, it's very impressive.
- 54:52I mean, yes, all things said, let me put it this way, OK, we
- 54:57got Star Citizen. As for much critiques that I
- 54:59have of Sig and everything else like that, yes, I'm playing
- 55:02every single day, but to not critique it when there's obvious
- 55:07flaws is intellectually dishonest.
- 55:09So anyways, but to give the appreciation for it at the same
- 55:14time I found community tell I went to LA.
- 55:19Well, I'm sorry, I live in LA, but I went to sitcom here in LA.
- 55:25I've met org mates, I talked to Youtubers and, you know, and
- 55:32there's, there's, there's a lot that is surrounding this game.
- 55:35And that's a, there's a reason for that is because they have
- 55:37built something that is worth sticking around for, that is
- 55:40worth investing in. And I do believe that.
- 55:44But you know, I mean, OK, it's been 12 years.
- 55:51The single player game is is a great thing, But what keeps your
- 55:56what keeps you going is the MMO and they need.
- 55:58To develop that we don't even know if the single player game
- 56:01is a great thing. I no, I mean it, It's, it's
- 56:04great. But again, but what?
- 56:06We don't know that it it. It might be a total disaster.
- 56:11Well, to be fair, most of what we, most of what we've seen of
- 56:14the single player game was a movie.
- 56:17Like it wasn't even gameplay. It was some turret gameplay and
- 56:22a little bit of like walking around like that.
- 56:26Most of what we saw when they showed it was just, it was
- 56:29literally it was an hour or an hour and a it was a long, a long
- 56:33beginning intro. It was mostly just a movie.
- 56:36That's what I want from Chris Roberts game though, especially
- 56:39from the Crisis engine. Kind of what I want I mean by
- 56:44by. Now, this is not the crisis
- 56:45engine. I mean you can have legacy.
- 56:49Code, but still, I mean this is I mean everything about it still
- 56:53looks behaves that way. The jitter that you get from
- 56:56every time you used to drop the Dang that's cry engine stuff
- 57:00like. So much I will say on Vulcan, I
- 57:05don't, you can't, you almost can't tell.
- 57:08But like the lighting is just a little bit more alive, you know?
- 57:16And I'm excited to see what they do, but I need to have
- 57:19community. I need to know who's standing in
- 57:21front of me 5 feet away on the station.
- 57:23I should have a way to do that and be able to talk to them and
- 57:26maybe have local chat and may be able to recruit people, maybe
- 57:30have org chat, maybe have these other things, the basic
- 57:34necessities that keep people coming back every single day.
- 57:37So you can have those community events and then everybody
- 57:40meeting up and hey, we're going to go knock this out today.
- 57:42Cool boom. Because not everybody wants to
- 57:45join Discord. Well.
- 57:46Good, good news. Good news is 3 years ago they
- 57:50said they were putting that in. Well, you know, we should talk
- 57:54to Jens and see when that might come back in.
- 57:57Or Jens, sorry. Let's see where you're not.
- 58:00You're not, You're not. You're not German.
- 58:02I don't think we fully established this department.
- 58:05He's from Europe. He's from Europe.
- 58:09Somewhere in Europe he he works in development.
- 58:14You know, it's, it's really cool 'cause the other night Anubis
- 58:17Knight got very drunk. Well, I got very, I don't know.
- 58:20And and Jens, Jens was killing it.
- 58:25Yeah, we had a we had a good hour and a half.
- 58:28We had a good hour and a half of Jens.
- 58:29Yeah, maybe you were funnier. Can we were just more jovial.
- 58:34German SO. Or more more jovial.
- 58:39I don't know what his accent was, it just sounded like
- 58:42Europe, like if he took a bus around Europe really fast.
- 58:48I thought you were doing. What's the guy who does the
- 58:50flight model from Germany? What's his name?
- 58:52I have no idea. But he's got like the pseudo
- 58:55Mohawk thing, you know what I'm talking about.
- 58:57Yeah, yeah. No, I mean it.
- 58:58It, it is just really funny the amount of laid back, super
- 59:04subdued, just calm and reverent devs they have like it's just
- 59:10like from what I hear, it's I was looking at, I was looking
- 59:15them up last night because I was trying to figure out what
- 59:17happens when you know, you have like a billion dollars and
- 59:21you've been running a project all this time and you know, they
- 59:23got like what 1300 or I think they had to lay some people off.
- 59:27I mean, every company has. Over 1000 employees.
- 59:30Yeah. I mean 1000 employees and I was
- 59:34looking it up and they actually like most people love working
- 59:36there. So I got to commend a.
- 59:38Little gathered. Yeah.
- 59:42Considering. Yeah, they got a lot of laid
- 59:43back people. I wouldn't think that.
- 59:45So let's talk about some of these laid back people.
- 59:48You saw the latest SCL with the the new audio guy.
- 59:53Didn't see that, not. I did.
- 59:55Because. He's he, he's, he's just a
- 59:58couple of weeks away from being broken.
- 1:00:05Way. Too hopeful?
- 1:00:07And at the same time, I was like, this guy doesn't know what
- 1:00:10he fucking got into. Yeah, dude, he's like.
- 1:00:14Well, I'm here now, so you'll be getting these real quick.
- 1:00:17And I was like, bro, no chance, no chance.
- 1:00:21Does he even know where he's working?
- 1:00:24Yeah. Do you do you think when he's
- 1:00:26looking the he's looking for the old files?
- 1:00:28He's. Like we got to find them, right?
- 1:00:30Now. Please just go through a 10
- 1:00:34point. MP threes just don't disappear.
- 1:00:40See, I mean, he seems qualified and everything and he seems
- 1:00:43really cool and and really nice. I'm just.
- 1:00:45Very he, he's very optimistic and he's, he seems like he's, he
- 1:00:50has a plan. It's just like I hope they give
- 1:00:52him the runway to to to implement what he wants to do.
- 1:00:57Yeah. And I mean, I don't mean to like
- 1:00:59this in a derogatory sense, but like it's just audio and I love,
- 1:01:03I love it like when it's good and stuff.
- 1:01:04But like in terms of actual like development and when it takes to
- 1:01:09put all like I've put audio into projects similar to this before.
- 1:01:13Like it, it's not hard to implement necessarily.
- 1:01:19Now I know they're doing a lot of other things with like
- 1:01:22spatial audio and like they're trying to like add weight to it
- 1:01:27and, and everything. So I, my point is like, I
- 1:01:31believe that it could come in very quickly.
- 1:01:34Like in terms of I say just audio just mean that like they
- 1:01:37can, you could do that relatively quickly compared to
- 1:01:40everything else in the game. But man, I just, I, I, I heard
- 1:01:47his confidence and I felt like he's doesn't know what the fuck.
- 1:01:51He's he's here. He's getting into dude.
- 1:01:55Well, Chris Rod, he's going to have it done.
- 1:01:56And then Chris Rod is going to like, yeah, but can we do
- 1:01:59something totally different? Well, I mean, on one hand, for
- 1:02:06for his sake right on, because, you know, who knows what happens
- 1:02:12when one point O comes out and the game is officially released
- 1:02:15and do you have a job? Because, you know, this is, this
- 1:02:19is a very AI economy. So in development, you know,
- 1:02:25it's a little harder to do with AI, although AI is definitely
- 1:02:28aiding it because if you're not using it, you're behind.
- 1:02:33But the more Chris changes things, the more he has a job.
- 1:02:37There seems to be no reason to change course.
- 1:02:40I just think squadron is going to be ancillary to how they make
- 1:02:47a lot of money. I think it's just going to be
- 1:02:50we're going to get it more of APU.
- 1:02:51If squadron does well, I think it helps everything.
- 1:02:54If it doesn't do well, I think you still have the PU.
- 1:02:57I'd love to see Squadron on Xbox and eventually the PU.
- 1:03:06I could see Squadron making it, but I don't see the PU making it
- 1:03:09Any consoles. Well, I don't know.
- 1:03:13I mean, I mean their server meshing is working well.
- 1:03:17I mean, honestly, it is. It's one of the best things to
- 1:03:21happen to Star Citizen in a long time.
- 1:03:23I mean, we have server errors and it comes right back and it
- 1:03:25works. So we got to.
- 1:03:27Recovery is nice too. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:03:29Yeah, their inventory, what the hell?
- 1:03:33But you know, still, there's potential there.
- 1:03:37And if they play it right, this is this is a game that will over
- 1:03:41shadow GTA. Yeah.
- 1:03:45They've got a lot of work to do then.
- 1:03:48Just remembering, I'm thinking of V1, I was like, Oh yeah,
- 1:03:50inventory V1 from like, yeah, I remember that.
- 1:03:55And now I'm thinking of, oh, the armor.
- 1:03:58You know, everybody keeps their armor when they die.
- 1:04:01I think it's going to be so long before we see V2.
- 1:04:05There's probably going to be a backlash from them if we're, you
- 1:04:10know, restoring the fact that you lose your armor when you get
- 1:04:13killed. I just aren't.
- 1:04:17People aren't. Good.
- 1:04:18Like what the hell all of a sudden, like.
- 1:04:20I mean if, if you can, if you can print a person, you can
- 1:04:23print armor. And dodge a wrench.
- 1:04:29Yep. No, I mean it doesn't it?
- 1:04:32It makes sense to me that they so.
- 1:04:34What you're, what you're saying is they probably never go back
- 1:04:36then and we're just on this train of like, if you die with
- 1:04:39your armor, you keep it. Look, sometimes you have to
- 1:04:44sacrifice some stimulation aspects to make it into an MMO
- 1:04:49where people can enjoy themselves.
- 1:04:51Because that is if it would, OK, there's Rust and there's
- 1:04:55everything else like that, and that's fine.
- 1:04:57But a lot of people just kind of play individually because
- 1:04:59they're playing against the environment, you know?
- 1:05:03But but you have things like Star Citizen and it's supposed
- 1:05:08to be social. It's supposed to be everybody
- 1:05:10seeing a living universe. But in a living universe,
- 1:05:15there's going to be some bad guys, there's going to be some
- 1:05:17chaos, and there's got to be some weight to your decisions.
- 1:05:21There should be some consequences.
- 1:05:23If you make a left when you should have made a right.
- 1:05:25If you zag when you should have zigged, you should.
- 1:05:28There should be consequences and if.
- 1:05:30There's never. Any consequences If, if, if
- 1:05:33there's always a respawn and you, you know, there's, there's,
- 1:05:36there's no way of losing anything.
- 1:05:40I mean it, it loses its lesser. So any achievement?
- 1:05:43You make. Lose you lose it loses the
- 1:05:49weight. Like, OK, I, I, I defeated those
- 1:05:52enemies. OK, well, big deal.
- 1:05:53They're just going to respond with all their shit.
- 1:05:56I mean well. How many, how many times do you
- 1:05:58all backspace to quickly get where you need to get to?
- 1:06:04Like I do it so much more now. Obviously keeping the armor.
- 1:06:09I mean, you know, I mean. He's just being the backspace
- 1:06:13express. The fact that you can print a
- 1:06:17person with a digital ghost or whatever happens.
- 1:06:22I I'm pretty sure it's like probably the same as all the
- 1:06:24carbon or whatever, but the fact that you can do that and like
- 1:06:27print an actual human being, they wake up and they're good to
- 1:06:30go right, OK, cool. That's the that's actually the
- 1:06:33most futuristic thing in the entire game.
- 1:06:35But anyways, you know, the fact that you can do that, it makes
- 1:06:40sense. I mean, it's absurd.
- 1:06:42It's absurd, honestly, it's absurd.
- 1:06:44It's a mechanic disguise, just technology.
- 1:06:48The equipment's copyrighted. You can't.
- 1:06:50You can't print that. Well, you know what?
- 1:06:54If you own the digital license to it, like iTunes, you can you,
- 1:06:58you can play that song anytime you like.
- 1:07:01You can have your armor anytime you like.
- 1:07:03It'll reprint with you. Yeah, but I mean.
- 1:07:05Humans. There's there's every.
- 1:07:07Armor. Makeup.
- 1:07:08Of humans all similar like. I think they should.
- 1:07:12Only have a set. Amount of organic components
- 1:07:14whereas armor you know what if you have like a crazy armor from
- 1:07:17like the moons of you know crazy town like not.
- 1:07:22Every. Med bed's going to have that,
- 1:07:24whereas every Med bed having like the basic materials for
- 1:07:27human organic creation like that seems a little bit vaguely more
- 1:07:32plausible. I mean automatically.
- 1:07:35They're separate, like they're separate machines.
- 1:07:38I, I don't know, I mean. Armor printing different things.
- 1:07:43I mean, does it really necessarily have to be, I mean,
- 1:07:45if it's, if it's putting together molecules and proteins
- 1:07:51assemble, you know, like like literally printing out proteins,
- 1:07:54DNA, everything else like that from a, from a digital file.
- 1:07:58I mean, if, if you're really going to go into the tech of it,
- 1:08:02it's like, OK, if they can do it that fast, like just instantly,
- 1:08:07it's already absurd. It changes everything.
- 1:08:09That doesn't matter. Everybody is just a bio.
- 1:08:13No one is anything else. Isn't tier one temporary?
- 1:08:17Is that the? Tier one is temporary.
- 1:08:19As it was sold. Yeah.
- 1:08:21So basically everybody's fighting over copyrights.
- 1:08:26So eventually there will be, and that's I guess what I'm talking
- 1:08:29about, like there will be this, hey, we're going to Tier 2 of
- 1:08:32this, which is you lose your armor, right?
- 1:08:36You have to insure your armor. Yeah.
- 1:08:40Insure your armor. So there is the idea to
- 1:08:43replicate the armor, OK. Yes.
- 1:08:45It's not like in the bed with you.
- 1:08:48OK. Yeah, this the Elite Dangerous
- 1:08:52insurance, you know, system is probably the best one that, you
- 1:08:57know, that they could implement and I I'm hoping that they move
- 1:09:00more towards that way because there needs to be penal
- 1:09:03penalties. I mean, dying shouldn't be I
- 1:09:06don't I don't really care about calling up my ship, you know,
- 1:09:09fast. It doesn't it's, it's, it's
- 1:09:11nothing. I've got like millions and
- 1:09:12millions and billions of fake money, you know, I mean, like,
- 1:09:15it doesn't matter. But, you know, if it started
- 1:09:19costing me a lot to die, I'd think twice.
- 1:09:22It'd be, you know, kind of, I think twice about running into
- 1:09:27combat. Right, it goes back to what
- 1:09:30Wicked was saying with consequence.
- 1:09:32There should definitely be having your armor being one of
- 1:09:35the most valuable things I think you have in the game.
- 1:09:37It's your cosmetics, it's your. It's something you cherish, I
- 1:09:43think. Well don't worry about the
- 1:09:45cosmetics. Once they start selling armor
- 1:09:47skins that'll be handled, it won't matter.
- 1:09:50What? Your armor.
- 1:09:51Is can of worms. I just think it's one of the
- 1:09:56things that people as a player, they actually like really care
- 1:09:58about losing or potentially thinking a lot about losing and
- 1:10:03we kind of recently have done away with that so.
- 1:10:07If you don't have the money, you lose it.
- 1:10:10You got to keep that thing going.
- 1:10:12You can keep it in your storage fine.
- 1:10:13It'll stay there forever. But if you wear it because you
- 1:10:16want to show it off, which people are doing now and we
- 1:10:19could see I mean I love it. Not everybody's running out of
- 1:10:22white around white. It's cool.
- 1:10:24I know you know and they got great designers, honestly,
- 1:10:27amazing shit Kudos, but make it cost you money to keep it
- 1:10:32because it it creates scarcity. I mean, it's and.
- 1:10:35That's what he was talking about with the insurance, right?
- 1:10:38Like so that's OK. Make it significant.
- 1:10:44Yeah, make it to where you don't want to be.
- 1:10:46Yeah. OK.
- 1:10:49And that way you're right. Because it would suck to have
- 1:10:52something you finally found as an armor piece that you really
- 1:10:54liked, or you discovered it out in some treasure hunting thing
- 1:10:58and then through some bug or, you know, or whatever, you wind
- 1:11:04up losing it. And it would be absolutely
- 1:11:07amazing to have that insured and some ability to replace that.
- 1:11:10It's a money sink. We need more money sinks.
- 1:11:15Yeah, but the currency is inflated.
- 1:11:16Why not so? The the.
- 1:11:20The only reason they should keep like not let tier one or tier 0,
- 1:11:24whatever they're calling it right now is because the game is
- 1:11:27still so in in such an alpha state and such a buggy mess.
- 1:11:31And there's, you know, you could lose your whole character for
- 1:11:34some stupid glitch in the matrix.
- 1:11:37But in the future that should go away when the game is polished,
- 1:11:41you know, and you lose, you lose.
- 1:11:47There's you have. I mean, without loss, the game
- 1:11:50will become meaningless. Yep.
- 1:11:53If you cannot if. If.
- 1:11:55If I can't shoot you and take your shit then then your shit
- 1:12:01has no value. Yep.
- 1:12:04Yeah. 100% And I don't think we shouldn't, we don't necessarily
- 1:12:09need that right now because of the state of, you know, the game
- 1:12:13and this whole this whole talk about, you know, the argument
- 1:12:17about how how the replication works of armor or this or that,
- 1:12:22that's irrelevant. We don't care about that
- 1:12:24technology stuff. We just need the gameplay of it.
- 1:12:28You know, the game we want. We, we, I mean, for me, I care
- 1:12:31about the game of it. You know what makes sense as a
- 1:12:34game? You know, at the at the end of
- 1:12:36the day, we're in a game. You know, if we're going to
- 1:12:39start simulating raindrops bouncing off of my my aileron on
- 1:12:43my Starship in atmo, what the fuck are we even talking about
- 1:12:48anymore? It's no longer a game, all
- 1:12:50right? We got it.
- 1:12:51We got to dial it down a little bit somewhere.
- 1:12:54I mean, right? It makes no sense.
- 1:12:56I mean, have you ever gotten like carried away?
- 1:12:58Like you're working on something and you get carried away with
- 1:13:01some detail or whatever, and then eventually you just like
- 1:13:06scrap that thing. Like I've, I've done that and
- 1:13:08that happens all the time because you're being creative
- 1:13:11and you're figuring out and that's like part of the process.
- 1:13:13But then you don't do that for 12 years.
- 1:13:17Yeah, you need to get the basics in like, like, like like we get,
- 1:13:22you know, I think we're we're both saying the same thing here.
- 1:13:26You got to get the game in the game, you know, because you can
- 1:13:31always chase perfect. You could chase perfect for
- 1:13:33another 40 years, but you're not going to get to it.
- 1:13:38Build the game first, allow people to enjoy their lives, sit
- 1:13:42on the toilets, sit on their toilets, poop and then allow
- 1:13:48that to be generated into new people as the dev who was just
- 1:13:53in here was so excited to tell everybody about.
- 1:13:56Yen's floor is. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:59You got to have a life in the game.
- 1:14:01Otherwise, you're really you're riding on a community that is
- 1:14:06that that will wear thin. I think we're like, I don't want
- 1:14:13to say we're getting close to that, but there is this kind of
- 1:14:16like edge where like all this new content is like really cool
- 1:14:20and, and, and we like it, but there's number one, it's not
- 1:14:22working for everybody as we've heard today.
- 1:14:27And then #2 it's like, well, this isn't sustainable.
- 1:14:31Like we're going to have an event this month and next month
- 1:14:35and next month. Like that's not sustainable.
- 1:14:38You still don't have the core gameplay grind, whatever it is
- 1:14:44in there. I think absolutely.
- 1:14:46Touching on it, that's that's what drive I mean, gosh, what
- 1:14:49really steams my clams the most is it's just the fact that.
- 1:14:53Steams my clams we're we're steam clams you've.
- 1:14:58Never heard that. Before.
- 1:14:59But we have. All these missions.
- 1:15:01Like there was so. Many missions I was thinking
- 1:15:04about like, I'm, you know, I'm sitting there and I'm, you know,
- 1:15:06I'm based out of Orson this time, this patch cycle.
- 1:15:09And I'm like. Where are those platform
- 1:15:11missions like I kept looking? For.
- 1:15:15Them in the Dang and it's. Just I had never done one of
- 1:15:18those. They were.
- 1:15:19They were so freaking cool. I've heard like you could have.
- 1:15:23Never done one. There, there was so.
- 1:15:25Many other. Missions.
- 1:15:27There's like a list of missions that goes on.
- 1:15:29I saw a great post on this that was like what happened to all
- 1:15:33this great content that was that was there.
- 1:15:37It made these locations special. There was tons to do, like if
- 1:15:41you were like the, the gravity well of whether it be Orson or,
- 1:15:46you know, these different, these different planets there, I feel
- 1:15:49like there was more to do. And so it feels like we've lost
- 1:15:52some content. You know what's going.
- 1:15:55To happen or I have to redo them away.
- 1:15:57We've lost a ton. Yeah, we've lost the shit ton of
- 1:16:01content. It was sharding.
- 1:16:03I think that that that hit it. Right, All that older stuff is
- 1:16:07useless. They're going to have to just
- 1:16:09remake it if they want to make it again and hope hopefully they
- 1:16:12have some of like the logic and stuff that translates for them.
- 1:16:17But the the other part of this is the talent.
- 1:16:21So citizen gun two or three years ago, there's a lot of
- 1:16:24people that you don't see anymore and I don't know if they
- 1:16:27work at the company still or or what, like the UI team, that old
- 1:16:31UI team member. And then you had that that UI
- 1:16:34where like you went to the fucking the loot, the item box
- 1:16:38and you had to like push three to four different buttons to
- 1:16:42just get your item right. And everyone's like this stinks.
- 1:16:46And they they they shut it down. Ever since then.
- 1:16:50I don't know if that is UI team still works at CIG or if they
- 1:16:55got a totally different UI team since then.
- 1:16:58It sounds like that didn't work. And then we haven't heard from
- 1:17:01them since. But we did hear from some
- 1:17:04someone else from EU, from the UI team that I'd never seen
- 1:17:07before. So are they in this like cycle
- 1:17:11of like, OK, we're going to hire these people, they're going to
- 1:17:13work on this thing for one, 2-3 years.
- 1:17:17It's not received well. Oh, we're going to can them or
- 1:17:20maybe they quit or whatever. And then you've lost all the
- 1:17:24knowledge. And then you're starting.
- 1:17:28Square 1 again. Is it is it reopening like
- 1:17:31reopening some of these missions We weren't around for when those
- 1:17:35missions were built. The opening those is like can of
- 1:17:38worms, far more trouble than just to build new missions.
- 1:17:43But that's such a shame. I mean, I would love a month
- 1:17:45where it's because we know the people making all these events,
- 1:17:49we see them on, you know, inside Star season every single time.
- 1:17:53Like it'd be great if they one month they were like, hey, those
- 1:17:56three missions that we had those legacy missions or, or the
- 1:17:59missions that were pre 4 point O they say, hey, we we brought
- 1:18:04them back that 'cause they were great.
- 1:18:07They were fantastic. Like there's just so many of
- 1:18:10them now that I'm thinking about like Caterpillar missions.
- 1:18:13Yeah, I think they only have Zeno threats 890 mission.
- 1:18:17Like that's the only one. Mission center missions,
- 1:18:21Anything on the distribution centers?
- 1:18:23Well it'd be cool because they could take Siege of Orson and
- 1:18:27just basically put that anywhere.
- 1:18:29It doesn't have to be at Orson. They could put that at A at a
- 1:18:32distribution center on friggin micro tech.
- 1:18:35They could use Siege of micro tech distribution centers and
- 1:18:39it's basically the same thing. You go in there, you shoot a
- 1:18:42bunch of baddies, you get to there were like 3 bosses or
- 1:18:45whatever. I, I'm waving because they had
- 1:18:51something like that that was designed for a fight for pyro or
- 1:18:55something in the early PTU build.
- 1:18:58They had an amazing mission that was you had to essentially
- 1:19:02retake a distribution center, but you had to shut down the
- 1:19:05anti air system and everything. Like they had that for that
- 1:19:10event and then it just vanished. Like they said, Oh, we're going
- 1:19:13to bring it back for a later segment of fight for Pyro or
- 1:19:18whatever, and it's just like, well, where'd it go?
- 1:19:25And then this makes you think about all the time they're
- 1:19:28wasting and money they're wasting.
- 1:19:29Like if there's, I understand you're developing and you do
- 1:19:32throw things away and like any, any creative endeavor that
- 1:19:36there's things like that. But again, like you're 12 years
- 1:19:40into this now you have to have some kind of like.
- 1:19:43Yeah. And I'm not even sure I buy the
- 1:19:45sharding just because we had that 890 mission post 4 point O
- 1:19:49and we've had that for going on almost, I want to say every
- 1:19:52single patch. That one took a while to come
- 1:19:55back though. I mean that that was it took a,
- 1:19:58took a few patches before they brought that one back which.
- 1:20:03Is the. Truth.
- 1:20:04The legwork it takes to restore some of these missions.
- 1:20:08I feel like there's one poor SAP at CIG tasked with restoring.
- 1:20:13Yens that's what he does our. Content.
- 1:20:16That's his department. That's Yens.
- 1:20:18He has to go and take all the old shit and bring it up.
- 1:20:21Yeah, dude, he got he he went there and they gave him a Game
- 1:20:24Boy Advanced. They're like, this is what we
- 1:20:26started development on. Can you translate these
- 1:20:29missions? I'll tell you he's, he's the
- 1:20:31best employee there because I, I, I want to see, you know,
- 1:20:36Levsky and, and they need to start bringing these things in.
- 1:20:38I and I'm sorry, but like there is no foundation to the game.
- 1:20:44I can fly around, but I mean, I've seen kind of most of the
- 1:20:48things I want it to mean something.
- 1:20:50I want to build my home, I want to build my base, I want to
- 1:20:53build this and you know, Squadron 42A.
- 1:20:58Little bit of take this mission cycle system like.
- 1:21:03Yeah, but but what is Squadron Credit 42 going to be For me?
- 1:21:06It's going to be for an experience I'm going to have for
- 1:21:08a week when I get through it and what am I going to do then I'm
- 1:21:12going to go right back to the PU and play it for the next 5
- 1:21:15years. You need to just delay Squadron
- 1:21:1942. And as you know, everybody on
- 1:21:23yeah, yeah, that that's what it is, dude. 42, hopefully more
- 1:21:28than a week. Hopefully you get 100 hours out
- 1:21:30of it or whatever. But yeah, dude, once that's
- 1:21:34done, it's done. Yeah, I think there's a lot of
- 1:21:38people, I think people that may have bought for Squadron 42 or
- 1:21:41want that kind of cinema, Chris Roberts, Wing Commander
- 1:21:45experience. I would say they were in the
- 1:21:48crazy minority compared to everybody else who bought for
- 1:21:52the PU and. I think a lot of, and I don't
- 1:21:57use this term lightly, normies. We're thinking Squadron 42
- 1:22:03though, like that's, that's what they're waiting on.
- 1:22:07And it's great for Xbox, but what pays the bills?
- 1:22:12Yeah, I mean if, if it, if it, if it pays the bills, put it on
- 1:22:18it. I feel it's very annoying.
- 1:22:21Selling a $230 ship and then having droves of people buy that
- 1:22:26ship. That's because the PU is the
- 1:22:30only thing that pays the bills. I.
- 1:22:34Mean well. Squadron 42 is interesting.
- 1:22:36Isn't it like the only thing that.
- 1:22:38Pays the bills is ship sails. Look to the normies outside of
- 1:22:44the Stars Citizen. Whole ecosphere.
- 1:22:47No one knows what Squadron 42 is.
- 1:22:50They've never heard of it. Right.
- 1:22:51Yeah. But the stars in we're.
- 1:22:52All we're all far. But.
- 1:22:54That's. True No.
- 1:22:55Normies about Squadron 42 before they hear about PU I just.
- 1:22:59Hear. I hear people say stars to this
- 1:23:01a couple. Of years ago and people know
- 1:23:03what Squadron 42 is. People know what Star Citizen
- 1:23:06is. Most people think most people
- 1:23:08outside of the community of Star Citizen and the people that
- 1:23:11actively play it think it's a joke and a RIP off and a scam.
- 1:23:15That's what most people think. That opinion is starting to
- 1:23:18change over time because it has been more playable.
- 1:23:21I mean, this a cargo elevator thing.
- 1:23:24Is it kind of inexcusable? It shouldn't have happened.
- 1:23:27Yeah, 100%. But stars that is in is the game
- 1:23:31that people know and they know that it you know when you go to
- 1:23:34describe it, when I sell someone on it, I don't sell them on
- 1:23:37squadron for you. Oh dude, you're going to be able
- 1:23:39to see Gillian Anderson should be really cool.
- 1:23:42And then like Mark Hamill and then you're going to go on a
- 1:23:44space adventure. But if I tell them about my
- 1:23:49experiences of like, trying to get Corundum over to Pyro and
- 1:23:54then getting, you know, pulled out of warp, and then like, my
- 1:24:00ship's disabled and I have a gun and I start rolling around my
- 1:24:03ship trying to fight them off. And then, no, they capture me
- 1:24:06and they take me and I'm like, that's cool.
- 1:24:10Yeah, 'cause it's real people. That's the game.
- 1:24:15I I agree. I'm I'm, I, I would just add
- 1:24:19that like when I'm funding the game, I'm funding it, not for
- 1:24:24the normies. Like I'm funding it because
- 1:24:26Chris Roberts kind of made out there with the promise like,
- 1:24:28Hey, you space nerd, I'm going to make a game for you.
- 1:24:33Like, and even things of like, well, we got to make console,
- 1:24:36got to go to radial menu to get this ready for the consoles.
- 1:24:38And I was like, gosh, I remember the Kickstarter when it was like
- 1:24:42the very first words on that trailer at the Kickstarter were
- 1:24:44like, my death is been like over exaggerated.
- 1:24:48And it was talking about the death of PC gaming.
- 1:24:51Like so I feel like so many people backed this project were
- 1:24:55nerds and like or not nerds, but like we just saw sci-fi people
- 1:25:00and we backed this project not for Oh, something that they can
- 1:25:05market like a single player campaign.
- 1:25:07Like the PU is where he sold it. Like that's where that's where
- 1:25:11you really made the vision come alive.
- 1:25:13And like now it just feels like, I feel like if you polled all
- 1:25:17the people that bought ships and you asked them and you said,
- 1:25:20hey, right now, where would you want your directions of
- 1:25:23development? How would you split the pie
- 1:25:25chart? You're going to see the PU
- 1:25:27overwhelmingly. And that's with the promise of
- 1:25:31like, I'm looking forward to it too, the game.
- 1:25:34But I just think we all backed for APU or at least when I say
- 1:25:38wheel, maybe I'm just speaking for like, I don't know.
- 1:25:42I thought a lot of this in my I. Don't know There's there's.
- 1:25:45Probably other people that did do it for a campaign.
- 1:25:48I just do think they're in the minority.
- 1:25:49Most people I would talk to would say it's for the PU.
- 1:25:52There's hundreds of thousands or millions.
- 1:25:54I don't know what the actual population is playing Stars.
- 1:25:58It isn't everyday. No one's playing Squadron 42, I
- 1:26:03mean. Yeah, I guess.
- 1:26:05But no, I agree. I back from PU.
- 1:26:08That's why I'm here. I just feel like the star power,
- 1:26:15the sexy Hollywood blockbuster appeal, is where Squadron 42
- 1:26:20comes in and that that can help mainstream and legitimize the
- 1:26:25game. Well, not just the game, the
- 1:26:27company. Yeah, that's what you.
- 1:26:30Got to think about. There's, there's, there's a lot
- 1:26:33of efforts there, a lot of efforts there where they've
- 1:26:38releasing a mission. If you're going to do this, if
- 1:26:40they're going to do this thing where they release the missions,
- 1:26:43like there's got to be some PU test of like elevators working,
- 1:26:48not having a single SCU box to have entry to have access to the
- 1:26:52six missions or whatever. You can't even do that because
- 1:26:55the SCU box is way or have like a million SU capacity.
- 1:27:01So it's just little, little things like that where it's like
- 1:27:05I, I back to make this remotely just something that I want to
- 1:27:09enjoy with a friend. So I just I, I empathize with a
- 1:27:11lot of the frustration out there.
- 1:27:13That is new event. How long do we wait before new
- 1:27:19event is on the up and up, you know?
- 1:27:23Like let's pause Squadron 42, pause the new flight model,
- 1:27:29pause, you know, ray tracing or I don't know how big these
- 1:27:33departments are for each. One, they can't.
- 1:27:35They can't. No, they can't.
- 1:27:36No, no, no. They cannot pause squadron right
- 1:27:39now. It that, yeah, that doesn't make
- 1:27:41sense. They're in too deep.
- 1:27:44It's something cost like. No.
- 1:27:46Kick that out the door. They gotta finish.
- 1:27:49Pause them one one thing. Pause one.
- 1:27:50Thing you guys need to need to also consider is Squadron 42
- 1:27:56could be a massive blockbuster of a game.
- 1:28:01OK. Yes, if it goes on console.
- 1:28:03Or. Forget about just as a game
- 1:28:07whether it would irregardless of what platform it's on, Obviously
- 1:28:11first, first and foremost, it's going to be APC game.
- 1:28:14Do they want it on console? Absolutely.
- 1:28:17Because if they can get it on console, they get it in more
- 1:28:19people's hands. You get a little bit more the,
- 1:28:22the, the, the point being is that it could become a massive
- 1:28:26blockbuster and, and right a lot of wrongs and, and, and change a
- 1:28:32lot of opinions of CIG, Chris Roberts and the whole effort so
- 1:28:37far. There's a lot to be said.
- 1:28:39I've played a lot of games that have like quote, UN quote
- 1:28:41cinematic quests and them and stuff.
- 1:28:44And let me tell you something, I'm an old, grumpy old man that
- 1:28:48I've had more feels in some of these so-called, you know,
- 1:28:53single player cinematic quest that the feels that you get in
- 1:28:57some of these games are incredible.
- 1:29:00It's it's like you're inside the book, inside the movie.
- 1:29:04You're you're maybe not the main character or maybe you are.
- 1:29:08It depends on the game and the genre and so forth.
- 1:29:11But at the end of the day, you feel like you're part of it, you
- 1:29:16feel like you're in it. And the feels come with that.
- 1:29:19And if that's the goal, they're trying, trying to to to get to
- 1:29:24with Star Citizen Squadron 42. If they can achieve that and
- 1:29:30they can make you make, make you have those feels, it's going to
- 1:29:33knock it out of the park. And people are wanting, they're
- 1:29:37going to want to continue the adventure.
- 1:29:39And where is that going to happen in the PU?
- 1:29:42And you know, I, I do agree with that, but to a point, I, I think
- 1:29:46that, yeah, those fields might be nice, you know, and they and
- 1:29:53they are, they are, they are everything when it comes to
- 1:29:56entertainment. We currently already at a time
- 1:29:59where people need to find community.
- 1:30:01We currently already, I've, I, I know we've all experienced the
- 1:30:05fields of man, I've had a shitty day at work.
- 1:30:08I'm going to go talk to my friends.
- 1:30:10We're going to go fly around and say, so we're going to go do
- 1:30:12something. We're going to do something
- 1:30:14dumb. We're going to complain about
- 1:30:15the elevators. We're going to go do all this.
- 1:30:17Those fields right there are way more valuable, and I think they
- 1:30:21need to expand upon that. You know, again, I think they
- 1:30:25need to just kind of pause things for a little while, build
- 1:30:28the mechanics of the game to actually build more communities
- 1:30:32and build those fields and then get people excited for Squadron
- 1:30:3642 and charge them another 45, which is a bargain, by the way.
- 1:30:40You know, I think you know, they can boost sales.
- 1:30:44Yeah, they won't be selling it for 45 and they were the other
- 1:30:47way around. I.
- 1:30:49Think so. The thing is, is that most
- 1:30:51people are very insular. Most people are very especially
- 1:30:57since since the beginning of the Internet era where people are
- 1:31:03constantly online. If you look around in any
- 1:31:06waiting room anywhere where there's people gathered, they're
- 1:31:09not interacting with each other, their head down in their phone
- 1:31:12or their laptop or their their, their ebook reader or whatever.
- 1:31:17Nobody's talking to each other, people.
- 1:31:20I disagree so strong with that. Finding a community, finding
- 1:31:24like minded individuals, that takes effort, that takes time.
- 1:31:28But when you're when you're when you're trying to get home from
- 1:31:31work and you want to unwind and you don't want to deal with
- 1:31:34other more even more people, you just want to put your head down
- 1:31:38into a game and experience the game.
- 1:31:40And it's something that can make you feel a little bit.
- 1:31:43People love that. Yeah, for two weeks it doesn't
- 1:31:47matter. Most most movies last for two
- 1:31:50hours. I'm sorry it's been out of it.
- 1:31:54It's been 2 years of community and friends for me, going
- 1:31:57through the UPS and the downs, the people that I've talked to
- 1:32:00that we can help support each other, that we could talk to
- 1:32:03about things. Well, you there's nothing wrong
- 1:32:04with. That connect over that honestly
- 1:32:09is much greater of a value of anything.
- 1:32:12Trust me. You know when people go out
- 1:32:15nowadays, again, I I disagree with you because I run a social
- 1:32:19club, OK? It's a Star Trek based social
- 1:32:22club. We meet all the time.
- 1:32:24We have sewing days. We go to and we go to, we go to
- 1:32:29conventions, we're going to bed alert.
- 1:32:31Oh yeah, no, completely. But we're not on our phones the
- 1:32:35whole time. We're all talking.
- 1:32:37We're all hanging out at the bars.
- 1:32:38We're going into the con, we're dressing up.
- 1:32:41We are finding community and that's more popular nowadays
- 1:32:46than it has ever been because people find that community And
- 1:32:50no, I mean, they're taking pictures with their phones.
- 1:32:52They're sending messages going, hey, you going to be over at
- 1:32:54Hall A? OK, yeah, I'm going to be over
- 1:32:55there. I mean, there's a lot.
- 1:32:58Those people are gathering for the direct purpose of being
- 1:33:01together. The example I'm using is just
- 1:33:03people out and about. Used to back in my day before
- 1:33:07the Internet, when you were out and about, you talked to each
- 1:33:10other. You, you met people.
- 1:33:11That's how you met people. I mean, I do.
- 1:33:14I still do. We still.
- 1:33:16I mean, I go to bars, I go to all sorts of different places
- 1:33:19and talk to people. Why would you go to just be on
- 1:33:21your phone? I mean, I I don't.
- 1:33:24I don't know Star Citizen. Maybe this is it.
- 1:33:27Maybe this is maybe this? Is just just trying.
- 1:33:29To bring it back, bring it back. But people do still connect
- 1:33:34every day. And and this is one of those
- 1:33:36conduits that instead of two weeks of, you know, hey, that
- 1:33:40was a good fun story. Now you've had two years, five
- 1:33:44years, six years of people who you know you're going through
- 1:33:49some shit or you're you had something to celebrate and they
- 1:33:52were there with you. There is there is better to
- 1:33:55that. I I I agree because you know, we
- 1:33:59have people come in to this area.
- 1:34:01I've met mostly everyone here in person wiki.
- 1:34:06You're the only one that haven't met.
- 1:34:07Maybe wicked. Maybe you're the problem.
- 1:34:10Did you ever think about that, Wicked?
- 1:34:12I'm not a problem. I'm maybe it's you, but you
- 1:34:15know, you should, you should come up here in October.
- 1:34:19No. No way, man.
- 1:34:21Join every We're all We're all going to be here.
- 1:34:23Anubis won't, but we're all going to be here.
- 1:34:25Not approach? Why not?
- 1:34:28No, no desire. To see To see your friends.
- 1:34:34I I mean I can interact with you guys anytime I want, I just
- 1:34:37don't. Have Wicket's embarrassed?
- 1:34:38He's embarrassed because he doesn't have legs.
- 1:34:40And I've been telling him, Wicket, no one cares that you
- 1:34:43don't, that you're legless, that that's cool.
- 1:34:47That's. Fine, I can make you some.
- 1:34:48Did you want you want to make you some electric legs?
- 1:34:54I knew a guy who had had no legs and walked on his hands and he
- 1:34:58was like, he was fucking jacked, dude.
- 1:35:00He would and he could climb up anything because and I realized
- 1:35:04this, I was in like I knew him when I was in like high school,
- 1:35:07middle school, high school. And your legs really, really
- 1:35:11weigh you down a lot. Without legs.
- 1:35:15He was like flipping and flinging over things and you
- 1:35:20know, this is, this is neither here nor there.
- 1:35:21I was I. Was gonna I was gonna say you're
- 1:35:24you. You both are correct from
- 1:35:26different avenues, but now we're gonna get angry letters from.
- 1:35:31From the legless community, From the.
- 1:35:33Paraplegic community. The the the the thing about
- 1:35:35people without legs, they have. Fantastic.
- 1:35:37Handwriting. What they call, you know what
- 1:35:40they call people without legs and arms?
- 1:35:41No. Wait, wait, stop.
- 1:35:43We don't want letters anyway. Where are they gonna send them?
- 1:35:47They're not gonna send them anywhere.
- 1:35:48Put it in the comments. Wicked.
- 1:35:50What do they call people without legs and arms?
- 1:35:53Bob. What?
- 1:35:56Bob. Bob, Bob.
- 1:35:59OK. All right.
- 1:36:00All right, I'll let it. No, I mean honestly.
- 1:36:05So here's the thing, you know, people who do have who have had
- 1:36:09amputations or paraplegics and things like that, honestly
- 1:36:15awesome. I mean like, like, like that,
- 1:36:17that people, you know, with today's technology and
- 1:36:20everything else like that and you know, the progress that
- 1:36:24we've made, which we still need to make a lot more, we still
- 1:36:27need to make. The thing is though, I'll I'll
- 1:36:29just say. I'll just say I did not want him
- 1:36:31to make me a sandwich after walking around on those palms
- 1:36:33all day. That's fine.
- 1:36:36OK. I mean, hand washing, I think
- 1:36:39it's still hand. But we could, we could bring it
- 1:36:41back to Star Citizen because we're supposed to be getting
- 1:36:44Yeah. What's the I?
- 1:36:45I wanted to talk about like how? VoIP or the FOIP?
- 1:36:49VoIP, FOIP, whatever, it's working I think more common.
- 1:36:54Does it work? I thought they couldn't make it
- 1:36:56work. Somebody the like.
- 1:36:58That's that's a really cool part of the game now that I think I
- 1:37:01have like I have a lot of problems with obviously the
- 1:37:05events and stuff not working, the fact that the, the FOIP VoIP
- 1:37:08is working. If less than like 50 people are
- 1:37:11using it on the whole server at once, I think it.
- 1:37:15So when should I? Maybe I should shut up about it
- 1:37:18into where only it works for like?
- 1:37:19Yeah, don't tell them. Yeah.
- 1:37:21I think they said something like on one of the inside Star
- 1:37:24Citizen live streams. Like, yeah, the the flip, as you
- 1:37:29might know, wasn't really designed for meshing.
- 1:37:34What to finish the flight model first?
- 1:37:36Oh my gosh. Is that is that Nigel?
- 1:37:40It's not. Reliable.
- 1:37:41Point of clarification. Point of clarification, are you
- 1:37:44saying VoIP with an F like Foxtrot or are you saying VoIP
- 1:37:48with AV like Victor? VoIP voices in Victor.
- 1:37:51VoIP as in Fox? Like yeah, it's both voices.
- 1:37:54The FOIP is the the. Implementation is FOIP first,
- 1:37:58but it's VoIP on the back end like they made that big deal a
- 1:38:02few years ago with. Talking to each other was, is is
- 1:38:06was supposed is, is the void part of it.
- 1:38:08The void as an F is like facial recognition and making your,
- 1:38:13your your your. The animation of the facial
- 1:38:16features match yours. Which, yeah, and I guess that's.
- 1:38:21Kind of cool, but who cares? It's it's, it's the same thing
- 1:38:25like I like you can actually notice characters now it's
- 1:38:29moving. I understand that, but most of
- 1:38:32the time people are wearing helmets.
- 1:38:36Yeah. Makes no.
- 1:38:39Sense I'm going to test this for the next show, I want to have an
- 1:38:41entire entire crew, entire voyage with nothing but in game
- 1:38:47coms. See how?
- 1:38:48It'll be a nice and quiet trip. Yep, it'll be a.
- 1:38:52Short show. Which is kind of sad because
- 1:38:56you, you, you think that they could implement things like, you
- 1:39:00know, you clicked on a list of different like servers that are
- 1:39:03in game, almost like discord servers.
- 1:39:05I mean people just like, hey, come to the hangout.
- 1:39:08This is the official channel of, you know Orison and you can
- 1:39:13connect to it, you know, finally be able to use.
- 1:39:16My in game line. Yeah.
- 1:39:19My eyes are up here. 'Cause I'm looking at your
- 1:39:24knees, yeah. Is that what?
- 1:39:27You're looking at Do you want one of those Professor X Cart
- 1:39:30things? I don't care.
- 1:39:33Where I don't know where the wheel no leg thing came from.
- 1:39:36I don't know either. Well, I was.
- 1:39:39I was just. The worm made it.
- 1:39:41I just want, I just wanted to to let everybody know that people
- 1:39:46without legs can still get around.
- 1:39:49OK. Well, I mean, yeah, I have that.
- 1:39:51You have that rare. Gift for sarcasm charge right
- 1:39:53where it's. Like.
- 1:39:54Is it? Is it AI?
- 1:39:55Don't? Is he?
- 1:39:57I can't now. Is he being sarcastic?
- 1:39:59I'm being this is This is why I'm still unemployed.
- 1:40:08No, I'd have to get an interview to.
- 1:40:11Disappoint them with my sarcasm, but.
- 1:40:15Look, I would be terrible here. And they?
- 1:40:18Just stare at you. Hey man, I might actually I
- 1:40:25might. I might start implementing that
- 1:40:26strategy. That might work because what
- 1:40:27I've been doing so far it does not work.
- 1:40:30You know when when you get the person that really gets it,
- 1:40:32that's probably going to be one of the best jobs, like just
- 1:40:37rolls right with it. True.
- 1:40:39That's true. I got to tell you, yeah, I got
- 1:40:42to tell you that the screwed up thing nowadays, and this is,
- 1:40:45this is real for everybody who may be working on things and,
- 1:40:49you know, maybe you got laid off or whatever.
- 1:40:52The the truth of the matter is, is that a lot of these companies
- 1:40:55either to impress investors or to comply with state and local
- 1:40:59laws and for tax purposes, you know, they'll, they'll post job
- 1:41:05listings that they don't intend on filling and they'll put you
- 1:41:09through several interviews. And then, you know, when they
- 1:41:11have to do their reporting, they go, hey, yeah, we've been, we've
- 1:41:14been looking for people. But you know, or they go, yeah,
- 1:41:18we're growing. Look how many job opportunities
- 1:41:20we have. But if they don't actually hire
- 1:41:21anybody and they get a bunch of investors to jump on board, then
- 1:41:25they can trickle people in as they need it, but they can also
- 1:41:28reap a lot of benefits. And that's, that's an actual
- 1:41:30thing that's going on. And so unfortunately, it's like
- 1:41:33it is tough. It's not you, OK, and definitely
- 1:41:37not you. Well, it could be you.
- 1:41:39You don't know who you're talking to.
- 1:41:41I I mean, maybe you suck, I don't know.
- 1:41:42Maybe maybe you know a narcissist not.
- 1:41:45Everyone's. Right.
- 1:41:46You know. What I'm saying All right, all
- 1:41:53right, so we we're we're coming up on two hours here. 2 hours is
- 1:41:57our longest show. But I do want to talk a little
- 1:42:02bit about ships. I like to bring ships to the end
- 1:42:05because that's what everyone wants to wants to hear the Cuddy
- 1:42:09Brown. So I make them go through the
- 1:42:11whole episode before we. So I'm going to I'm going to say
- 1:42:14something controversial. Maybe I don't give a fuck about
- 1:42:21the Apollo Medevac because who the it's just a fucking bigger
- 1:42:28Cutlass Red. Like there's nothing special
- 1:42:30about it. Here's a ship with two fucking
- 1:42:33Med beds in it. Who?
- 1:42:34Why do? Why are people excited about
- 1:42:36this? I don't understand.
- 1:42:37It's a sexy looking ship. It looks, it just looks better.
- 1:42:39Yeah, it looks neat, but who the fuck cares?
- 1:42:42It doesn't give you, it doesn't add anything to the game
- 1:42:44whatsoever. You got three beds instead of 2.
- 1:42:47Right. Wow.
- 1:42:49I think you and maybe don't you get a higher tier.
- 1:42:52Yeah, yeah, you. What does that do?
- 1:42:55There's, there's also modularity with the beds, so you're going
- 1:42:58to be able to swap around the beds.
- 1:43:00What do you mean? Are you?
- 1:43:01Going to move them in the ship. No, as in you can swap out for
- 1:43:05more lower tier beds or fewer higher tier beds.
- 1:43:08But what's the point? But what's there's no.
- 1:43:11Difference. I know you don't have much.
- 1:43:14There is a difference. It just isn't much.
- 1:43:16It's very minimal right now and like we.
- 1:43:18Don't have what's what's the difference of right now I'm
- 1:43:21playing the game Tier 1 to tier 3 bed.
- 1:43:23What's the difference? The respawn range on a Tier 1
- 1:43:26bed is the highest. So it's just range.
- 1:43:31Yeah. And healing tiered injuries.
- 1:43:36I mean, but The thing is is that you could just regen.
- 1:43:40I I know we don't have proper medical.
- 1:43:42Games and you don't even have to go back to the base to the the
- 1:43:45space station now you can just regen at most ground locations
- 1:43:49it seems. What?
- 1:43:51What? OK, so so So what if we're
- 1:43:53looking at, you know, OK, well the next step is get rid of
- 1:43:56regen and that body needs to be transported.
- 1:44:03Yeah. Yeah, Yeah, we're actually.
- 1:44:04Maybe there's? A time, gosh, the the getting
- 1:44:07the whole reason of going back for your body was the armor was
- 1:44:10always a big part of that. It's going to be insurance for
- 1:44:14armor. They're going to have to make it
- 1:44:16either extremely expensive or I just feel.
- 1:44:20Like, yeah. We're going to have to.
- 1:44:22You're going to lose some consequence there, you know.
- 1:44:25What if? What if you can't afford to
- 1:44:27reach on your legs? It's just like just the rest,
- 1:44:30just like your left arm is gone or your head.
- 1:44:35Yeah, can I be honest? Today I realized I am poor in
- 1:44:40Star Citizen. How much do you have?
- 1:44:44I have like 2 million and I was like great, I'll buy.
- 1:44:47I was gonna buy a cargo ship and I was like, I can buy like a
- 1:44:50Mustang, bit I was. Like what the fuck dude?
- 1:44:53Rich to me, though. Then again, I don't.
- 1:44:56No, Chav, you're you're hungry. Under a million.
- 1:45:03Tab you Yeah, you need to. Try more, you need to.
- 1:45:06Just work a little harder tab. I don't know.
- 1:45:09When I go, I hang out with other people, you know, even in Reds.
- 1:45:12Car, it's like, what do you do at Reds?
- 1:45:13Car. It's like I just walk around
- 1:45:15with my gun. That's yeah, that's why you're
- 1:45:18that's. Why you broke That's and
- 1:45:20medically you don't get a lot of money.
- 1:45:22Making activities most of the. Time, you know.
- 1:45:24That's understandable. But I.
- 1:45:26Super. Cool.
- 1:45:27Like if anybody stumbles upon us one day, they're going to
- 1:45:29stumble like. Man, they pay people to fucking.
- 1:45:32Patrol the perimeter like that. Badass red scar.
- 1:45:39Jokes on jokes on you, we don't pay anyone anything.
- 1:45:41Yeah, they don't. Yeah, we don't.
- 1:45:42We don't. Exactly.
- 1:45:43Nobody gets paid. That guy's just crazy.
- 1:45:47Once the industry folks start coming back, we'll they'll start
- 1:45:50making money again. But.
- 1:45:54A list of our activities. We're not money.
- 1:45:58Making we all want. Different things out of the
- 1:45:59game, right? You know, we all, we all get
- 1:46:01different things out of the game.
- 1:46:03I don't know if we all do want different things out of the
- 1:46:05game. You know, people say this.
- 1:46:07I just think everybody wants to have a good time in a fun space
- 1:46:11game that is less arcady and more realistic because that's
- 1:46:18what was advertised to us. See, see I, I, I'm trying to do
- 1:46:22like, you know, like mining or exploring and Avenger one's
- 1:46:27trying to do, you know, blockading entire.
- 1:46:29Stars, I'm going to. Clip our.
- 1:46:31Entire. Entire.
- 1:46:32Planetary shit talk him guys. Fuck that piece of shit fuck.
- 1:46:37That guy when? You're.
- 1:46:39That piece of shit, what a garbage.
- 1:46:41I I don't, we I've. Never.
- 1:46:42I've never met the guy, but no, we're not being sarcastic.
- 1:46:46What what they were doing. It's such, it's just such a
- 1:46:52shitty thing to do. So this is, this is what
- 1:46:55Avengers Squadron did what, two or three days ago or whatever
- 1:46:58yesterday. And yeah, I'm sure they've been
- 1:47:01doing it all week. So Avengers Squadron, everyone's
- 1:47:05doing Hurston, Hurston missions, moving cargo.
- 1:47:10So Avengers Squadron quote UN quote locked down Hurston,
- 1:47:14meaning any cargo ship that was there trying to do the missions,
- 1:47:18they killed them and took their cargo.
- 1:47:22And I don't think they were letting people go.
- 1:47:23They were killing like miners, people doing cargo and then
- 1:47:30well, and then they they texted, wrote in chat on the server,
- 1:47:36one-on-one with Avenger one. Anyone who beats him gets the
- 1:47:40cargo. So what they're doing is they're
- 1:47:42seal clubbing people who have no intention of playing with them
- 1:47:45at all. And they're just trying to like
- 1:47:47goad people to fight with Avenger 1.
- 1:47:51I think, I think that the from my perspective, the backlash
- 1:47:54here is anybody who like would want to engage in like space
- 1:48:01combat, especially anyone who want to engage in space combat,
- 1:48:04like challenging. I think was turned off 'cause we
- 1:48:06have some of those people in our org who are very good who have
- 1:48:10actually killed Avenger One before.
- 1:48:13And they're like, no, like I'm not, I'm just not doing that
- 1:48:15because I don't this is stupid. I don't want to participate in.
- 1:48:18That would it be, I mean, if there's seal clubbing, I mean,
- 1:48:20wouldn't it be just assemble a larger group of seals?
- 1:48:23Isn't that not possible to that's?
- 1:48:25Not what the seals do to have the seals.
- 1:48:28The seals are a bunch of. Seals are not unionizing.
- 1:48:31Yeah. Let me know, I'll I'll tell you
- 1:48:35this. Let me let me ask 1 real quick,
- 1:48:37quick question. Jar Jar, in the beginning of the
- 1:48:40broadcast, you you mentioned something about some kind of
- 1:48:42controversy on Reddit. Is this it?
- 1:48:45No, no, the Reddit controversy was what we were talking about
- 1:48:48with the Yens, which, what the fuck was it?
- 1:48:53They won't actually go on Reddit.
- 1:48:54It's a misunderstanding. Oh, it was the change.
- 1:48:56No, no, no. It was the changing of what was
- 1:48:58what they said was going to be a Co-op where it's just you and
- 1:49:00your buddies fighting the enemy. They changed it now to a sandbox
- 1:49:04event where arguably you could still get camped with PvP.
- 1:49:09You know the way. They relabeled the Co-op mission
- 1:49:12into Sandbox. The way it was described, at
- 1:49:16least in the comment, was that it sounded like they swapped 2
- 1:49:19events. This is not the Co-op event
- 1:49:23anymore. That's being or the Co-op
- 1:49:25activity that's being bumped back.
- 1:49:28They're they're swapping it with another which I don't mind.
- 1:49:31Another sandbox event. I've liked the ones they've done
- 1:49:33so far. But it's not how I read them
- 1:49:35well. It all stays.
- 1:49:36It's more content. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:49:37I just think some people are thinking like, oh, this is no
- 1:49:40longer a Co-op. No, it's just a different thing.
- 1:49:43Yeah, they all they're. Getting their panties in a
- 1:49:45bundle. People get their panties in a
- 1:49:46bunch. A lot I do.
- 1:49:47Hope that they don't let all this new sandbox content I just.
- 1:49:50I just hope it all doesn't go the way of so many missions like
- 1:49:53Hathor exists. Is.
- 1:49:55Hathor I don't know the status of it or if.
- 1:49:57No one goes there anymore. No, people.
- 1:50:00Plenty of people still do it, it's just not as busy.
- 1:50:06If hey, if it, if it works, then then I welcome new if the worm's
- 1:50:11gonna work in the future, like let's keep and sandbox events,
- 1:50:15cause at least that's something to take, you know, a friend
- 1:50:17around and be like, hey, there's a cool spot.
- 1:50:20And the. Worm you.
- 1:50:21Go to. The Worm.
- 1:50:23And. Then you take your friend there.
- 1:50:25Whether it be pyro one or pyro 4 or 5 or 4, whichever one it was
- 1:50:29I think. Four.
- 1:50:29Yeah, but Tab, you take your friend there and then Avengers
- 1:50:32Squadron murders you and kills you, and then you're like, oh, I
- 1:50:36guess, I guess we should have brought more people than
- 1:50:38anything else that's happened. Game wise, if that's allowed to
- 1:50:42happen, I think my friends would be like, oh, we gotta kill.
- 1:50:45Those are real people. I'd be like, yeah, they're real
- 1:50:47people. And I'm I'm OK around that.
- 1:50:50Like, how do you find them? How do you go against that?
- 1:50:53I'd be like, well, you show up either in a yeah, more guns,
- 1:50:56bigger ship, more people, more fighters like.
- 1:51:00If I. Can get to that point that's fun
- 1:51:04like Avenger doing this thing to me sounds like OK, it's a little
- 1:51:08bit of piracy like and this is the you know, the Wild West
- 1:51:12Caribbean, however you want to look at it.
- 1:51:14He he wants to blockade a mission heavy city or attempt
- 1:51:18to. Surely there are orgs?
- 1:51:20I mean, is it piracy? It was a gang.
- 1:51:23Form of. That's griefing.
- 1:51:25Griefing. Well, there's there's.
- 1:51:27Hero orgs that would that would rally.
- 1:51:29Now they have something to do that's not the the the mission
- 1:51:33now. Now are they?
- 1:51:35Orgs that are designed to protect have something to do.
- 1:51:37They have pirates to fight. So here's the thing.
- 1:51:41Are they profiting off that cargo?
- 1:51:43Is it is it just mission cargo or is it like mining stuff?
- 1:51:47So, so taking it actually can profit them because it's it's a
- 1:51:51resource. I had as much.
- 1:51:53Yeah. So but it's not the contract and
- 1:51:57stuff, right? Like because if it's a contract
- 1:51:58and stuff, then like what's the point?
- 1:52:01You're just killing people. But if it's like you're actually
- 1:52:03trying to like, oh, let's see how much our org can make off of
- 1:52:05piracy and you're actually doing legit piracy, OK, I'm all for
- 1:52:10it. F it.
- 1:52:10They're not. They're not new.
- 1:52:12Sure. By blocking them completing the
- 1:52:13mission you complete, you stop them from accomplishing the
- 1:52:18efforts that are overall affect their corporation, right?
- 1:52:22So there is utility. There is utility in stopping
- 1:52:25people. But that's not why they're doing
- 1:52:27it and that's not what they're telegraphing.
- 1:52:29And they're they're ganking people to try to goad people to
- 1:52:32fight Avenger because he's bored.
- 1:52:36And he shouldn't be. It's.
- 1:52:39So tell me that he is so and I've heard some stories too.
- 1:52:43But he hangs around for the good fight.
- 1:52:46Then that surely must be mustard to like, fight him and his
- 1:52:49ships, right? Yeah, until they take a mantis
- 1:52:52and shove it inside an Idris so you can't break free.
- 1:52:57Yeah, they they put a Mantis in in which is I think it was a
- 1:53:00Polaris or was it an interest it?
- 1:53:02Was an interest, so that's. AI haven't heard that before,
- 1:53:05and that's some pretty novel thinking.
- 1:53:07It is. It is.
- 1:53:08Yeah. I'm not mad at them for that at
- 1:53:12all, actually. Like, that's Star Citizen.
- 1:53:14Let's that happen. It's good that they found that.
- 1:53:16Hopefully CIG will, like address this.
- 1:53:18Yeah. Don't let them do that.
- 1:53:20It's a little ridiculous. But no, there's there, surely?
- 1:53:24Is something good by having if they're if they're going to be
- 1:53:27the bad people, Like I kind of like that there's player
- 1:53:31baddies. Is that, isn't that like there's
- 1:53:35some, there's kind of good? For the game, really a little
- 1:53:37bit. A little bit.
- 1:53:43I I hear what you're saying. Frustrating for the new player
- 1:53:45working for yeah. That's the thing.
- 1:53:48That's the point, yeah. Clubbing is bad but having bad
- 1:53:53but where's the where do you like draw the line there I
- 1:53:57guess. Yeah, yeah, if they if they were
- 1:54:00pirating. Poach the waters right you you
- 1:54:02you club a bunch of shit seals and then a defensive good org
- 1:54:06gets activated. Right.
- 1:54:09I don't know. And then you have this really
- 1:54:11what presumably would be a pretty large fight, but.
- 1:54:16There's also a question. Are you just encouraging bad
- 1:54:18behavior by giving them what they want?
- 1:54:21Right. That that's why nobody wants to
- 1:54:23do it 'cause like, I don't it. And they're not like letting
- 1:54:25these people go. They're shooting, they're
- 1:54:27killing them, you know what I mean?
- 1:54:29They're being jerks. It's a blockade, like, I mean,
- 1:54:33yeah, if it's a shoot on site. Now that the hailing.
- 1:54:35System works I. Mean I was hoping to.
- 1:54:37Have something to say about? This but people that are
- 1:54:39shooting people down, like, I mean, if I'm if I'm going pirate
- 1:54:45lifestyle, if I'm living, I'm hailing the target, you know,
- 1:54:48and I'm saying I'm transferring terms, I'm typing.
- 1:54:51I wish there was a way to type directly to somebody that that
- 1:54:54would be so much better than Not everybody takes your hail.
- 1:54:58Yeah, I mean. I like.
- 1:55:00This piracy gameplay, it's, we may not participate in it, but
- 1:55:04I, I really want it to exist. Yeah, I wanted to be pirating,
- 1:55:10not just flat out murdering because you can and you're
- 1:55:14bored. Yeah, OK, so I'll tell you the.
- 1:55:17The reason this upsets me is going back to a game many people
- 1:55:21have played is Elite Dangerous. Elite Dangerous had this really
- 1:55:25awful mechanic of engineering, which was just grinding to get
- 1:55:29components. But when you get those,
- 1:55:32everybody gets the first mission, which went to this one
- 1:55:36location. And if you started Elite
- 1:55:39Dangerous, if you're a new player, you're in like a starter
- 1:55:41ship. You would go to this one
- 1:55:43location and there were griefers there and they would gank you.
- 1:55:46And Elite Dangerous is just like Star Citizen, takes you so long.
- 1:55:52Travel Times. Travel times are insane.
- 1:55:55So you'd go there and then someone you know in a fucking
- 1:56:00zooted out ship would just gank you right away.
- 1:56:03And that it that like actually upset me because it's like they
- 1:56:08killed me in 4 seconds And it was like, how much fun are they
- 1:56:13getting from this? And they're actually kind of
- 1:56:17ruining my evening now. So that's, that's what upsets me
- 1:56:23about this is that you're just, you're ruining someone else.
- 1:56:26To, to organically, I mean raise the security level on Stanton.
- 1:56:35I, I just there seems to me, I, I want, I still want it to be
- 1:56:38possible. I don't think anybody should be
- 1:56:40untouchable. Totally, totally.
- 1:56:42I. Love the fact that if you really
- 1:56:45didn't care from somebody enough in Stan, you could risk it all
- 1:56:49and kill somebody. Yeah, you serve time, but
- 1:56:53there's a yeah, I won't play the game for two days killing you.
- 1:56:57I love that about the game. It it creates so many fun role
- 1:57:01play things, things that happen organically like.
- 1:57:04Well I like that the game can do that, but also the person who
- 1:57:07does that is kind of shitty. Well, there's conflict in the
- 1:57:13game that naturally will happen. Like I want trade deals to go
- 1:57:16sour. I want.
- 1:57:18Yeah, but you're not, you're not, it's not, it's not a fair
- 1:57:20fight, that's the thing, right? Like it's cool that anyone can
- 1:57:24get. Extinction between the ganking.
- 1:57:26But. For it to be a sandbox I do
- 1:57:28think self policing is the best way to go.
- 1:57:31Bring the bounty hunting that is now working question mark this
- 1:57:36patch. I haven't.
- 1:57:37No, I don't know, maybe. Your bounties have been working
- 1:57:40again. So I think that is the best way
- 1:57:45is to have it policed ideally. I mean, we and we have so many
- 1:57:51zones where you can't shoot already in Stan Arrow, being a
- 1:57:56little bit more weapons free is welcome.
- 1:58:00I actually like fire for that reason.
- 1:58:02I, I feel like I can't feel like I can't defend myself in, in
- 1:58:06Stanton with all these. Clouds and.
- 1:58:10Somebody would just eat a box right into your face, right?
- 1:58:12Like it's. Yeah.
- 1:58:14Yeah, Yeah, they don't think that.
- 1:58:15You want to turn around and shoot that person and you can't
- 1:58:18do it in Stanton and. So that I think there's plenty
- 1:58:22of. Protections and if somebody, if
- 1:58:24they have the it's not easy, that means they have the
- 1:58:27manpower to patrol what is outside, what is Loreville right
- 1:58:32and outside Everest as well. Like so I'm just.
- 1:58:36That's a lot of manpower. That's impressive.
- 1:58:38If it if they have that. Kind of manpower to and people
- 1:58:42would serve her hop if it really bothered him that much people
- 1:58:47did so yeah go ahead and I I. Think EU EE should intervene?
- 1:58:55I think if you have like a a crime stat of over 4, then
- 1:58:59you're getting ships showing up, driving you up, you got
- 1:59:01hammerheads showing up and stuff.
- 1:59:03Absolutely. Easy there, easy there, UEE
- 1:59:07that's going to 'cause I mean, they, we can't even get our
- 1:59:10elevators to work right and you're wanting them to start
- 1:59:12programming some AI to go and defend against some, some bad
- 1:59:18guy. Fairpoint.
- 1:59:21We had and they were supposed to be back this.
- 1:59:24We did have it. We did have it.
- 1:59:27And and that was a they figured out ways to abuse that, too.
- 1:59:31No, but they it's a simple how many times escalation.
- 1:59:34It used to be Instagram set rose.
- 1:59:36If you got high enough, you wouldn't get intercepted.
- 1:59:38A couple years ago. You've been quantum without
- 1:59:40being your. Your your doors would open on
- 1:59:43your hanger and all of a sudden the cops were shooting at
- 1:59:46shooting at you inside your hanger.
- 1:59:49As they should be. So.
- 1:59:51What? Just by bringing back quantum
- 1:59:53interdiction inside Stanton for if you have a crime stat.
- 1:59:56Because a crime stat shouldn't just be a number, it should be a
- 1:59:59consequence and it and it should put you on the run and it and it
- 2:00:02should get you trackable and not just running to Grim Hex or
- 2:00:06something. They really got to solve that
- 2:00:08part, the fact that someone could just run to Grim Hex and
- 2:00:11that's all they do. Well.
- 2:00:12That's that should be that. That should be their one refuge
- 2:00:15in the entire solar system. That should.
- 2:00:18Be they got a whole. There's a whole whole other
- 2:00:19system that they can. Refuge exactly.
- 2:00:21But in this in this solar system, they have one refuge in
- 2:00:25in pyro you. Have you have?
- 2:00:26Refuges of civility, all the major stations you can't shoot
- 2:00:30anybody in. So it's fine to have one
- 2:00:34criminal refuge in Stanton, I think, but also to.
- 2:00:37Travel to Pyro, that gate is supposedly going to be policed
- 2:00:42the stay in pyro gateway. Yeah, if you're in San Triangol
- 2:00:45Pyro, yeah. Yeah, but like.
- 2:00:48Micro jumps. Ideally there will be micro
- 2:00:50jumps there right through those little back channels.
- 2:00:53Yeah, the transient holes. But at the same time, at the
- 2:01:01same time, I should be able to, you know, quantum pretty close
- 2:01:04to my bounty, but I can see where they are.
- 2:01:07I should be able to quantum to them and that should keep them
- 2:01:10on the run. When they are in areas where you
- 2:01:13know they have a crime stat, they should be scared.
- 2:01:17Anubis that's coming with the new flight model.
- 2:01:20Oh. Which iteration here they're
- 2:01:22doing they're planning. Several stages, yeah, he's been
- 2:01:25working on, they've been working.
- 2:01:26On planning for 13 years. Oh, physicalize.
- 2:01:35Yeah, I was trying. I was just going to try to bring
- 2:01:36us back there, but we. Just at least we're talking
- 2:01:38about starses. At least we're talking about
- 2:01:40starses. I know.
- 2:01:42And not. Paraplegics.
- 2:01:43I'm not cut it. None, none of this gets cut as
- 2:01:45every episode the the only thing gets that gets cut is if I'm
- 2:01:50drinking too much bubbly beer and I burp into the microphone
- 2:01:52like I did 2 episodes ago. Unbelievable.
- 2:01:57Nobody said anything. I was muting.
- 2:02:01I was muting the wrong who? You are.
- 2:02:05I was muting the raw. I was in the wrong.
- 2:02:06Mute bar. We know you're unemployed and
- 2:02:09these things happen. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:02:13Welcome to the club. But it isn't you this entire.
- 2:02:16Show should be like a three drink minimum like.
- 2:02:23Can't drink it anymore. And that's.
- 2:02:25The host, like Jesus and. Calling in.
- 2:02:28Well, we know, we know. I stopped drinking years ago and
- 2:02:32I can still handle it. How?
- 2:02:35Do you know the? Conversations.
- 2:02:38No, I'm talking about how I can handle the conversation.
- 2:02:40I doubt I could handle a drink. If I had a piece of a drop of
- 2:02:44alcohol, I'd probably be under the under the under the floor.
- 2:02:48Oh. My God.
- 2:02:49OK, were you? Were you?
- 2:02:51And you don't have to answer this live on air.
- 2:02:54Were you a racist drunk or were you a genius drunk?
- 2:02:59I have no. Idea what?
- 2:03:00I have no idea what that means. I, I will say this, I'm old.
- 2:03:05So, you know, in my time I have used racial slurs.
- 2:03:10I'll admit to that. You know, I know better now.
- 2:03:13I have used racial slurs. I have used the hard.
- 2:03:17I use the hard, RI use the hard the hard.
- 2:03:21You're you're, you're, you're from the South and you've
- 2:03:24learned. No, I'm, well, I'm from the, I'm
- 2:03:26from the South of another country, but I'm, I, I live in
- 2:03:29the South of this country now. Right.
- 2:03:31This country being the good old the US of.
- 2:03:34AI moved, I moved bro, I moved from the abolitionist to the
- 2:03:40United States to like what's not even like the South, but close
- 2:03:45enough to the South. And I'll tell you, man, these
- 2:03:47people down here are like different.
- 2:03:53It is, it is. I've lived in, I've lived in,
- 2:03:55I've lived in. Listen, man, I've lived in
- 2:03:59multiple countries and I'll tell you there's and people in like
- 2:04:04the Northeast have more in common with people in parts of
- 2:04:08Europe than they do with people in the South of the United
- 2:04:11States. For sure.
- 2:04:13Like. Definitely southwest version of
- 2:04:14where you live. Bam.
- 2:04:16Man, oh, I know. And you're you I like.
- 2:04:19You. Every, everyone that I've ever
- 2:04:21met down here, that's an implant to, to the, to The Dirty South
- 2:04:25where I live, they have all unanimously said the most
- 2:04:31friendly people, the most welcoming people they've ever
- 2:04:34met has, has been right here in the South.
- 2:04:37Because they're afraid. And and and I'm talking North
- 2:04:41and South. Carolina.
- 2:04:42Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana.
- 2:04:45Now Mississippi and Louisiana are a little bit of a different,
- 2:04:48different thing. And in Florida?
- 2:04:50That is a whole different. Thing too.
- 2:04:51Fuck Florida bro I went to Florida for the first time
- 2:04:54recently. I had a had a nightmare about.
- 2:04:56Going to Florida. We're just gladdest place I've
- 2:05:01ever seen in my life. Dude, that's.
- 2:05:03Crazy. It's awful.
- 2:05:06And, and if you go down the street right where I went to, I
- 2:05:09went on a cruise, you know, Star Trek cruise.
- 2:05:11And, you know, we went to Cape Canaveral to go see the space
- 2:05:14shuttle because you know, hell yeah.
- 2:05:16You know, we're like driving over there and like, you know,
- 2:05:21you're, you're driving along the street and you have the curb,
- 2:05:23right? You've got a regular ass curb
- 2:05:25and it's there, but like there's no grass or dirt on the other
- 2:05:30side of that curb. It's like straight up, the ocean
- 2:05:32is right there at the same level as the curb.
- 2:05:36Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. Like on both sides.
- 2:05:40A lot of the beaches. You in Florida, a lot of the
- 2:05:42beaches, you can drive your car on them.
- 2:05:44Yeah, you can. Just drive around the ocean.
- 2:05:47You know what? You can't drive your car OnStar
- 2:05:50Citizen, because they haven't figured out how to make fucking
- 2:05:52cars drive properly. Well, I got to work on the
- 2:05:55flight model first. So All right, so, so before we
- 2:05:58before we take guys to I don't know if anyone's going to listen
- 2:06:01to this long. I will I will say this.
- 2:06:03I will say. This nobody's going to listen
- 2:06:05to. This listen, listen, listen.
- 2:06:07Last last episode we had four followers on Spotify.
- 2:06:11OK this episode 7. Hey you.
- 2:06:17See what I'm talking? You see him again out here all
- 2:06:19right we had 102 or 100 I think on on the YouTube now we've got
- 2:06:24one we had one O 5 now we're back down to one O 4 OK, who's?
- 2:06:30The other five Spotify accounts. It does.
- 2:06:32It's irrelevant. My point, My point is, my point
- 2:06:36is somebody, there's people out here, people out there who, who,
- 2:06:43who get something out of this. Yeah.
- 2:06:47Who? I can make those numbers
- 2:06:51skyrocket if you all come to my event.
- 2:06:54What's your event? You know the event.
- 2:06:57Oh yeah? Well, we we can't talk about
- 2:06:59that yet. We can't talk about it yet.
- 2:07:01No, no, that's what that's what's happened.
- 2:07:03I were No, we can't talk about it yet, but that's what Tav and
- 2:07:05I were doing earlier. Are you guys going to film
- 2:07:07another bathroom scene? That's what that was for.
- 2:07:13Wow. Yeah, I have Hobo doesn't know
- 2:07:16about this, but I've. I I don't OK, I I trust no, but
- 2:07:22we're they just. You should not if you.
- 2:07:24Made it this. Far.
- 2:07:25There's something. Coming up, that's very
- 2:07:27interesting. Cut it down.
- 2:07:30If you made it this far or something coming up, that's very
- 2:07:32interesting. All right, let's say I can't
- 2:07:34wait honestly to. Be.
- 2:07:37Honest I'm I have some, I have nothing but questions.
- 2:07:41Yeah, yeah, let's hype it up. Well, next time, so for for this
- 2:07:47episode, listen, we're we're going to we're going to shut
- 2:07:50this episode down. I think shut.
- 2:07:52Down. Look, unless you guys have
- 2:07:53something really you want to get off your chest.
- 2:07:56You know, out of your time. All right, Anubis.
- 2:08:00I've been, you know, really kind of desiring to hear about Cosmic
- 2:08:05Kobo's event. No, no more.
- 2:08:08Soon, not the time. You'll know more soon.
- 2:08:12It's not the time. Papa John's.
- 2:08:14Stay tuned. It's a Papa John's pizza event.
- 2:08:18No, they're. Not hard for pizza.
- 2:08:23I just. So hungry.
- 2:08:25Preferably an old meme, but fine, whatever all.
- 2:08:28Right. Any anyone excited about any any
- 2:08:30upcoming any upcoming ship you're excited about?
- 2:08:34Paladin. Yeah, that's that's what I mean.
- 2:08:38Who cares about the ships anymore?
- 2:08:41Yeah. Like.
- 2:08:41I'm excited, really. Elevator 2.23 whatever you.
- 2:08:45Can only fly one ship at a time. Right.
- 2:08:48Like who cares? The F9A.
- 2:08:53Yeah, ladders. You can look left and right in
- 2:08:56three 180° and an and a ladder. Ladder V2.
- 2:09:01Wow, so. You can't know who's 5 feet in
- 2:09:04front of you. These face plants, man, It's
- 2:09:07like just kind of try not to face plant.
- 2:09:11Maybe the next one, maybe this next one.
- 2:09:12I don't know. What's this event that's taking
- 2:09:14place on the moons? Is it a moon of our court?
- 2:09:17Oh, I'll, I'll say this dude. The fact that they kind of
- 2:09:20change this event at what seems like the last minute, like the
- 2:09:24the for the pad next patch, does not bode well.
- 2:09:28Yeah, it doesn't bode. Well, but I just want it to work
- 2:09:31because I'm still out there trying to get new people into
- 2:09:33the game. And like they were like just
- 2:09:36this really cool video for the event, whether it be the worm or
- 2:09:39the trading or the one before that.
- 2:09:41And it's always like these fun little events.
- 2:09:43And I'm like you. Know.
- 2:09:44Come on, let's play. And then like we play two days
- 2:09:47after the patch and it's. I have a really important.
- 2:09:51We got to, we got to do better as a community, as a game.
- 2:09:54How could we? How can I not be in that
- 2:09:56position to where the game is putting its best foot forward?
- 2:10:02I have a really important question.
- 2:10:04I just need to know when to do that.
- 2:10:06Fire, fire away worker. OK, I'm watching this video on
- 2:10:10the on the twitch broadcast. Yeah.
- 2:10:14Jar jar you in and you're in the turret.
- 2:10:18Yeah. Why are you not shooting?
- 2:10:21There's nothing to shoot. What the What are you talking
- 2:10:23about? There was all kinds of.
- 2:10:24Otherwise, oh, I was, I was probably not there.
- 2:10:29I was probably doing something. If Murphy's flying, I'm fine and
- 2:10:32confident. If you were flying, I'd be
- 2:10:35paying attention and. Shooting oh OK yeah I.
- 2:10:37Got you. But Murphy?
- 2:10:39Someone's got to defend the ship.
- 2:10:41No, they were, they were low value targets.
- 2:10:43It wasn't like a big deal. We were, we were doing the.
- 2:10:46Well, you got to call Avenger 1A low, low target.
- 2:10:48That training mission bro. OK, anyway, we.
- 2:10:54Didn't. Do any sponsor?
- 2:10:58We didn't do any ads. This this this.
- 2:11:01We're going to go broke. Shit.

- 2:11:45Also rice and beans. Also sent in a, you know,
- 2:11:52sponsorship. Who did that?
- 2:11:56Volt. Oh, we could save it.
- 2:12:02Yeah, they they do suck. Yeah, fuck Volt, bro.
- 2:12:06The shotgun's pretty cool. All right.
- 2:12:09Shotgun is pretty sweet. I had one one time and then.
- 2:12:12The quartz is no good no more. Lost.
- 2:12:15He got to be hugging the guy for a quartz.
- 2:12:19Yep. And then burns.
- 2:12:23Don't have it unless you have the what's the the pyro one?
- 2:12:27The dead rig? The dead rig is a fucking sniper
- 2:12:30rifle. Put a scope on.
- 2:12:31That thing, it used to be good. I I tried it recently and it
- 2:12:35didn't have the same magic. It used to have it one time.
- 2:12:40That's probably good because it was legitimately like a fucking
- 2:12:43sniper rifle. Are you in an A wing?
- 2:12:47No, we're finding a hurricane. In the Hurricane and the turret
- 2:12:53is basically useless. No, the Hurricane is the best 2
- 2:12:57seater combat ship by far. Yeah, but not if you're if
- 2:13:00you're not shooting, what's the matter?
- 2:13:03I mean this is very situational. He is not being useful here.
- 2:13:07I am. That's fair.
- 2:13:10What is in the? What is all this like floating
- 2:13:14around in the the fake space water?
- 2:13:17Sitting in the little zone, you have to wait for the the mission
- 2:13:20to continue. Yeah, this was actually another
- 2:13:23cool thing that doesn't exist anymore was you sat in.
- 2:13:26What do they call them? It was.
- 2:13:28Like a. Cloud cloud, some kind of orc
- 2:13:30cloud or whatever. And you and that hides your
- 2:13:34signal, hides your EM signatures, it hides your
- 2:13:37whatevers. But you have to be in the cloud
- 2:13:40to wait for the mission to progress, and then you have to
- 2:13:42go kill the dudes. It's it's really cool.
- 2:13:44I mean, it's like Assassin's Creed when you hide in the
- 2:13:46bushes, right? And the the NPCS can't see you.
- 2:13:49It's the same concept. Yeah, it's supposed to work.
- 2:13:52PVPI guess as well. And they were supposedly like
- 2:13:55testing it, but we have this was six months ago, so.
- 2:13:59Player versus PU. Yeah, this is player versus.
- 2:14:03Environment. Does it seem like to you guys, a
- 2:14:06lot of times that it seems like this, this ship, the CIG ship is
- 2:14:11so rudderless sometimes? Yeah, it goes.
- 2:14:13From one it does. Yeah, 1 island to the other and
- 2:14:17none of the islands seem to matter 100%.
- 2:14:22I mean, these, these missions right now, I mean, it's mainly
- 2:14:24cargo and for and for things to be centered around them and for
- 2:14:28this to go that bad at the same time, you know, they're saying.
- 2:14:33Work right? It it, it the it's just kind of
- 2:14:37lazy riding when they have so many other tools.
- 2:14:40I mean, OK, I don't know if it's a bunch of those.
- 2:14:43I mean, take a bunch of those ships, right, like the the 890
- 2:14:47mission, right? Make it different ships and
- 2:14:49scatter them about and say, hey, you know, Zeno threats been like
- 2:14:53hijacking people go in and kill all the Zeno threat, take back
- 2:14:56the ship and save the civilians. Like you can throw that as a
- 2:14:59huge event or anything else, but like they just it's box missions
- 2:15:05box and kill and it's like. I guess that's the easiest thing
- 2:15:10they could recycle maybe? Yeah, but what does that say
- 2:15:14about their plans if they if, if they have the tools available to
- 2:15:17them right now and they don't use?
- 2:15:18Them, they're busy, man. Are they?
- 2:15:21They got that new audio guy. Yeah, he's hyped.
- 2:15:25They already have this in place. They could just do it.
- 2:15:29Listen, I, I want, I want to know when you know how you, you
- 2:15:33pick up the cargo boxes and it sounds like there's a damn
- 2:15:36gerbil running around inside of it made out.
- 2:15:39Of metal. Yeah.
- 2:15:40Yeah. What?
- 2:15:41Are they going to change that? I wonder if he's heard that
- 2:15:44Mister audio. Do they play their own game?
- 2:15:48Does. Anybody know his name?
- 2:15:52No, but we will either either either we're all going to know
- 2:15:57him and be like, wow, this this guy, he's going to be.
- 2:16:00Gone in a. Month.
- 2:16:01He's going to be gone. He's going.
- 2:16:02To fucking disappear. And they're going to.
- 2:16:05And in six months they're going to have some new young audio
- 2:16:09dude come on. Steep.
- 2:16:10Yeah, yeah, yeah. 100% Yep. Oh man, what a what a.
- 2:16:17Fix the audio. Let's let's let's work on the
- 2:16:20flight model and fix the audio and let's get ray tracing in.
- 2:16:26Yeah, no, it does. It does kind of remind me.
- 2:16:27Like I was reading the road map and the first thing on the road
- 2:16:30map was hairstyles and I was just, I just almost just, and I
- 2:16:37was like everyone. 'S OK.
- 2:16:38I'm glad that's. 4.3 hairstyles baby.
- 2:16:42But The thing is, is if you watch like Astropub and like
- 2:16:46those other shows, they, they talk a lot about like, oh, it's
- 2:16:49important and it is important to get diverse hairstyles and, and
- 2:16:52stuff in. It's just like.
- 2:16:54It. Is that is that like really?
- 2:16:59It is far more shortly impressed I hear, to replace the whatever
- 2:17:03that is with people that can make sure every time I bring
- 2:17:06somebody into the game they don't have a terrible
- 2:17:08experience. Yeah.
- 2:17:11And it is and it's, but it's adequate at this moment.
- 2:17:14I mean, it doesn't need to be changed again.
- 2:17:18Yeah, I mean, they have maybe enough.
- 2:17:21They have. Enough type of nuance.
- 2:17:22To patches ago like another 10. And it's it's cool that they're
- 2:17:26bringing more in. Like I'm cool with them bringing
- 2:17:28more in. But yeah, the fact that like
- 2:17:29you, you look at the patch and you're like, OK, hairstyles and
- 2:17:33like a mission that's immediately gets cancelled and
- 2:17:37like swapped and like. Well, they're all different
- 2:17:39teams, that's the thing. It's like the hairstyle people
- 2:17:42aren't the same people doing the chat interface.
- 2:17:44Like they're different teams. Totally 100%.
- 2:17:47It's clear that the hairstyle team is more efficient therapy.
- 2:17:50Yeah, the hairstyle team is a. Painting or whoever's doing the
- 2:17:53post that that is what they led with.
- 2:17:57Yeah. Yeah, I wouldn't have I.
- 2:18:01Think it's like alphabetical though when art comes first.
- 2:18:03So. Think, think about if, if
- 2:18:07Squadron's delayed, they take all those devs, right?
- 2:18:11They put them on hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 2:18:14They put them on working on the PU, right?
- 2:18:17They, they, they, they work on making them help with the game
- 2:18:20mechanics to build a community, whatever, right?
- 2:18:23But then they get that experience and they get the
- 2:18:24sense of what the real, larger universe is like, and they bring
- 2:18:29that back into Squadron 42 in order to make it feel a little
- 2:18:35bit better and a little more expansive.
- 2:18:43I hear what you're saying. I think it's a, it's a not a not
- 2:18:45a bad idea. I just, I don't think there's a
- 2:18:48frog's chance in hell that that that's the path that things are
- 2:18:53going. To go.
- 2:18:55I mean, maybe not, but it's wishful thinking.
- 2:18:57And that's half of, well, sorry, 80% of Star Citizen fandom.
- 2:19:04Right, they're full steam, right?
- 2:19:05As of now, they're full steam on Squadron, right?
- 2:19:08That's what the the. Assumption is 100%.
- 2:19:11Yeah, there's there's this is not like what we've seen so far
- 2:19:15this year and even in like stability and the the amount of
- 2:19:20content that they've put into the game is not reflective of
- 2:19:241000 person team. The factor UI like where's our
- 2:19:28new UI dude? Why are we just still using the
- 2:19:30old UI, right? Like and how long does it take
- 2:19:35you to develop that? And you didn't go back in like 6
- 2:19:38a few things and like change a few things.
- 2:19:39Clearly you've either fired that whole team got or something
- 2:19:46happened to that whole team and they don't work anymore.
- 2:19:48You back burn Bernard it or you move them to squadron 42 or
- 2:19:52something happened where like that UI team is not working on
- 2:19:56UI for Star Citizen. That's just obvious at this
- 2:19:59point given it's been over a year now.
- 2:20:03How long has? It been they might be working on
- 2:20:06the next iteration, I mean when we did finally get the updates
- 2:20:09to frankly the star map. Maybe this has?
- 2:20:13Gone through so many iterations. Even even the star.
- 2:20:16Map every two years. The Moby Glass got a giant
- 2:20:19facelift there for at least a decade.
- 2:20:22Yeah, but that's my point. Like the star map was supposed
- 2:20:24to be like a tier one, like they had, they were like, and there's
- 2:20:27gonna be more coming and there hasn't been any more coming.
- 2:20:30You can't set your own locations which they had promised.
- 2:20:34Yeah, it's a lot of stuff. You can't go back to your ship,
- 2:20:37which they had for like half a second for some.
- 2:20:39Reason. Hold on, I I will say that is
- 2:20:41the coolest thing about the most recent patch, at least for me,
- 2:20:44is the fact that you do have markers.
- 2:20:48For. Your capital ships when you
- 2:20:50leave them in your subcraft like that.
- 2:20:53Should be able to. That's super cool.
- 2:20:56Like that has opened up giant new avenues of gameplay for even
- 2:20:59just a two person team. You should be able to do it for
- 2:21:03all of your ships, though. I mean, it it you should be able
- 2:21:06to set custom markers regardless.
- 2:21:08I mean there's like some sort of right, right Stanton positioning
- 2:21:12system, I imagine. I mean, it's the future, you
- 2:21:15know, and you're able to just. Having that notice the having
- 2:21:17that feature alone though has been a noticeable improvement.
- 2:21:20Just being able to park your capital ship in orbit, take a
- 2:21:23captain's yacht down to the surface, do something, and then
- 2:21:27come back and be able to find your ship.
- 2:21:29It's not just. Apple ships, ships have markers.
- 2:21:32It's huge. Yeah, all ships have markers
- 2:21:34now, which I thought was a huge. That was just this amazing.
- 2:21:37Addition, yeah, but do they? Because beacons don't work.
- 2:21:43Hey. Service beacons, I would love to
- 2:21:45see functionality brought back into those.
- 2:21:47Like are you talking about like medical beacons, just general
- 2:21:50transport beacons or? Yeah, I mean, all, all sorts of
- 2:21:54things, the things that used to, you know, like I'd be sitting
- 2:21:57there waiting for some dude to show up, you know, like, and
- 2:22:00then you'd hear him fight, and then you both got to fight your
- 2:22:02way out. Those things are kind of fun,
- 2:22:05but they have to have an incentive to do it.
- 2:22:07I mean, shit, I mean, I don't know, make make reach in on a
- 2:22:12timer. Can't reach in for another 10
- 2:22:15minutes. The game wastes enough time.
- 2:22:18What's another 10 minutes? Heat up some burritos.
- 2:22:22Before we end, I just want to say that I looked up that audio
- 2:22:27guy. His name is Simon, Gretchen or
- 2:22:31Gershon. You have the work history there.
- 2:22:34Oh yeah, I got his. Eye.
- 2:22:35Where does he live? He.
- 2:22:37Lives in any of this anyway. He's been active since night
- 2:22:43like he lives in your mother's house.
- 2:22:45According to IMDb, he's been active since 1990 and he's been
- 2:22:49part of over 190 productions. OK.
- 2:22:54Oh yeah. I mean, mostly films.
- 2:22:55I was. Thinking about yeah, they run a
- 2:22:57very seasoned audio guy that's pretty cool.
- 2:22:59Hell yeah. Yeah, film and TVI mean, he's
- 2:23:02been around for a minute, so. Well, I.
- 2:23:05Better figure. It.
- 2:23:07I don't think we doubted his talents.
- 2:23:10I mean, the the audio in Star Citizen is * Citizen is actually
- 2:23:15really good and it's just he's walking into a, he's walking
- 2:23:19into a nest right now. Well, I just wanted to mention
- 2:23:22his name. So he's just not that audio guy
- 2:23:24that. Was on.
- 2:23:25That show, you know, I mean, let's give him the the credit
- 2:23:29he's due at least, you know, he's a veteran of the
- 2:23:32entertainment industry and hopefully he brings that that
- 2:23:37experience and that knowledge and is able to leverage it and,
- 2:23:42you know, in his new role with CIG audio.
- 2:23:47Make audio face. You said his name was right.
- 2:23:50Yeah, but it's spelled Simon Gershon.
- 2:23:53Simon Gershom and I'm looking forward to see what he
- 2:23:56contributes because you know, they they do have they they are
- 2:24:01really good at procuring talent and the audio is one of the
- 2:24:05especially the music is one of the best things in the game.
- 2:24:06So I'm excited to see what he. Means page was what?
- 2:24:09Part is, what part of the company is Jared with?
- 2:24:13Is he part of marketing? Yes.
- 2:24:16He's part of. Marketing.
- 2:24:17Right. Do you think the marketing
- 2:24:20department has a sub department called excuses?
- 2:24:27Oh, yeah. Oh, big comms radio, your Star
- 2:24:29Citizen call in show. If you made it this far, thank
- 2:24:31you. Thank you for stopping by.

- 2:24:46Wednesday at 9:00 PM Eastern Time.
- 2:24:49We're going to call it here tonight at the end of the show.
- 2:24:52We always give each one of our guests a kind of final word and
- 2:24:56I, I try to go in order. I think I'll get it this time.
- 2:25:01Wicket, you were first, first guest tonight.
- 2:25:05Is there anything you want to say to CIG, Chris Roberts, or
- 2:25:07the people of the Internet? Sandy and Chris Roberts, you
- 2:25:12know, stop. Put the rudder back on the ship.
- 2:25:15Steer, please. And look, this guy Simon, he's
- 2:25:20really, he seems like really hyped.
- 2:25:22He's he's got a lot of energy. I really, I kind of like him.
- 2:25:25Just some first impressions. Let's not kill his vibe right
- 2:25:29off. Let's keep him around for a
- 2:25:30couple, couple of years. Let him work.
- 2:25:34Thank you. Thank you.
- 2:25:36Wicket. Cosmic Kobo.
- 2:25:39Our our Cosmic Kobo regular. Is there anything you want to
- 2:25:44say to CIG, Chris Roberts, or the people on the Internet?
- 2:25:48Just fix those cargo evaders please and try and incentivize.
- 2:25:53Them to you. Some more.
- 2:25:56That what I meant. Yeah, Lord Anubis, anything you
- 2:26:01want to say to CIG, Chris Roberts or the people on the
- 2:26:03Internet? CIG this time is important.
- 2:26:11You have the tools available to you.
- 2:26:15You can reallocate us or assets in order to create a thriving
- 2:26:21world that will keep your employees employed for years to
- 2:26:27come. We can wait a moment.
- 2:26:30We, we, we want to be able to experience the universe, not
- 2:26:34just play a game. I, at least in my opinion, not
- 2:26:37just play a game for a couple weeks.
- 2:26:38And that was a great experience. And it is an artistic experience
- 2:26:41and it is important. It is wonderful, but you could
- 2:26:44build so much more, so many more experiences if you just take a
- 2:26:48little bit of time while you have right now, while the game
- 2:26:52is fairly stable, to bring people in, build something
- 2:26:56bigger, and then return to it. Fresh perspective and with an
- 2:27:02enthusiastic, much larger fan base that is, you know,
- 2:27:07interconnected and making you a bunch of money.
- 2:27:11Because I need to buy a whole bunch more ships, sell more
- 2:27:14ships, and for the next 20 years.
- 2:27:21Thank you. Thank you, Lord Anubis.
