- 0:01Well, I hope you're doing great. Thank you again.
- 0:03Another episode of the Rancho Radio podcast and I want to talk
- 0:08about the Trinity. It's I don't think I've ever
- 0:11talked about the Trinity. It's from what I've been reading
- 0:14on Paper 104 and there's a lot of good Nuggets in that, even
- 0:19though it's a very challenging section of the book.
- 0:23If you notice in Part 3, as it goes through the entirety of
- 0:28Part 3 of the Urantia book, it gets a little bit more
- 0:31complicated and more complex up to the point where they're
- 0:36talking about a lot of things that it, it literally takes
- 0:39years to try to grasp and the use of language is unbelievable.
- 0:44But they get to the part about the Trinity.
- 0:47And what I've always found interesting is that most
- 0:49religions in my own experience about the Trinity is that people
- 0:53don't know or that they, they say God the Father, God the Son
- 0:57and God the Spirit. And in Catholicism, that's it's
- 1:01very prevalent in Catholicism, but not so much in other
- 1:05branches of Christianity. Like you won't hear a lot about
- 1:09the Trinity, I don't think in a Baptist Church or in in in in a
- 1:14lot of Middle Eastern religions Trinity is expressed through
- 1:18triune concepts, particularly in Hinduism.
- 1:22So I've not really paid too much attention to the Trinity
- 1:26concept, although I I think I understand it more because I
- 1:30read the Urantia book and I understand the relationship
- 1:33between God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit.
- 1:37This particular paper is very interesting and I want to pull
- 1:41out some really good notes about it.
- 1:44And I think you'll have a better appreciation of it too.
- 1:48Once we go through it. It won't be a very long episode,
- 1:50but it's got a lot of good interesting insight as to the
- 1:55nature of God. So we'll continue in just a
- 1:57second here. And I, I want to welcome you
- 2:00into the Your Rancher Radio podcast.
- 2:34So the first question that people will naturally ask is why
- 2:38is the Trinity concept important?
- 2:41And in paper one O 4 of the Urantia book, they explain why.
- 2:45And let me roll through some of the more important comments and
- 2:49paragraphs, and then we'll weave together the the context in
- 2:54which we could discover the answer why the Trinity concept
- 2:58is such an important concept in Christianity and indeed in
- 3:04understanding the relationship of God.
- 3:07So it starts out with, it's always difficult for an emerging
- 3:10monotheism to tolerate Trinitarianism when confronted
- 3:15by polytheism. The Trinity idea takes best hold
- 3:19of these religions, which have a firm monotheistic tradition
- 3:24coupled with doctrinal elasticity.
- 3:27The great monotheists, the Hebrews and the Muhammadans
- 3:30found it difficult to distinguish between worshipping
- 3:333 gods, polytheism and Trinitarianism, the worship of 1
- 3:38deity existing in a triune manifestation of divinity and
- 3:43personality. Now Jesus taught his apostles
- 3:47the truth regarding the persons of the Paradise Trinity, but
- 3:52they thought he spoke figuratively and symbolically.
- 3:56Having been nurtured in Hebraic monotheism, they they found it
- 4:00difficult to entertain any belief that seemed to conflict
- 4:03with the dominating concept of Yahweh.
- 4:07And the early Christians inherited the Hebraic prejudice
- 4:11against the Trinity concept. And this goes back to what I was
- 4:15saying a moment ago about how in some factors or some traditions
- 4:20of Christianity, there's a stronger presence than others of
- 4:24the Trinity concept. Paul knew of the Paradise
- 4:29Trinity of Father, Son, and Spirit, but he seldom preached
- 4:33about it and made mention thereof in only a few of his
- 4:37letters to the newly forming churches.
- 4:40Even then did his fellow apostles.
- 4:42Paul confused Jesus, the Creator, Son of the local
- 4:45universe, with the second person of deity and the eternal son of
- 4:50paradise. Now over the years of my
- 4:52discussions with fellow Christians about the Urantia
- 4:55book, they get a little upset when I say to them, no, Jesus is
- 5:00not the second person of of Trinity.
- 5:02So I know by experience that there is some a little bit of
- 5:06consternation on Christians when they read about the second
- 5:09person of deity and the difference between that and say,
- 5:12the Creator's Son, which is of course Michael, who is Jesus.
- 5:17Now, not since the times of Jesus has the factual identity
- 5:22of the Paradise Trinity been known on Urantia, except by a
- 5:26few individuals to whom it was especially revealed until its
- 5:30presentation in these revelatory disclosures.
- 5:35Now that that sentence right there should jump out at you,
- 5:38because what the revelators are telling us is that one of the
- 5:41key revelations that is coming out of this particular book, the
- 5:45Urantia book, is a clear and precise of of explanation of
- 5:52what the Paradise Trinity is and why it is an important
- 5:56evolutionary step in religious thought.
- 6:01They go on to say that the conceptual grasp of the Trinity
- 6:05association of the Father, the Son and Spirit prepares the
- 6:11human mind for the further presentation of certain other
- 6:15threefold relationships. So think of it this way, the the
- 6:22idea of a loving Father is not exactly correlated with the idea
- 6:29of a deity force. At least without the concept of
- 6:33understand of understanding how God operates in this realm.
- 6:37How can he be a loving personal father who has his hands in all
- 6:42of our human affairs, but by the same time have a universe that
- 6:46operates under physical laws and in some degree of order?
- 6:53And this is a stumbling block for a lot of people when they
- 6:56try to understand the concept of a spiritual father who was also
- 7:02the upholder of all things physical gravity and everything
- 7:06else, energy, force. And the two ideas do not
- 7:10commensurate so well, unless you have the Trinity concept.
- 7:16And that's why they're introducing it in in more
- 7:18clarity in these Urantia papers. But and I'd never seen that
- 7:23sentence before the sentence saying until the Trinity
- 7:28concept. This is the next attempt to
- 7:33explain Trinity to human beings in these tarantula papers.
- 7:39So let's continue on. Theological reason may be fully
- 7:44satisfied by the concept of the Paradise Trinity or even a
- 7:49personal all loving deity. But philosophical and
- 7:53cosmological reason demand the recognition of the infinite
- 7:58functions in various non father capacities of universal
- 8:03manifestation, including the relationships of the God of
- 8:07force, energy, power, causation, reaction, potentiality,
- 8:13actuality, gravity, tension, pattern, principle and unity.
- 8:20What is the unifying force of all of these anticipants of the
- 8:24material world or the material universe?
- 8:28And again I go back to you. It's hard for many people to
- 8:31understand that a personal God can at one and the same time
- 8:36also be a God of force and energy.
- 8:41And this is perhaps why Trinity introduces and bridges these.
- 8:46It harmonizes these two concepts through the function of the
- 8:50Trinity that make any sense. They go on to write.
- 8:55Mortal man is passing through a great age of expanding horizons
- 8:59and enlarging concepts on Urantia, and his cosmic
- 9:03philosophy must accelerate in evolution to keep pace with the
- 9:07expansion of the intellectual arena of human thought as as the
- 9:14cosmic consciousness. He perceives the
- 9:17interrelatedness of all that he finds in his material science
- 9:21and is and in his intellectual philosophy and is his spiritual
- 9:26insight. So could it be that the Trinity
- 9:29concept actually helps bring these three arenas of reality
- 9:34into cohesion? I'm asking you the Trinity, as
- 9:39it exposes the relationship between God the Father, God the
- 9:42Son, and God the Spirit, then allows us to make that
- 9:47connection between the material, the morantial, and the
- 9:51spiritual. They go on to say, still, with
- 9:56all this belief in the unity of the cosmos, man perceives the
- 10:00diversity of all existence. In spite of all concepts
- 10:04concerning the immutability of deity, man perceives that he
- 10:08lives in a universe of constant change and experiential growth.
- 10:15The Trinity provides the context by which Deity can be seen
- 10:20manifest as both personal as well as in functional unity.
- 10:25That is my interpretation, so I'll say it again.
- 10:28The Trinity provides the context by which Deity can be viewed or
- 10:33manifested as both personal as well as in functional unity.
- 10:40God is both omnificent and distributive through the
- 10:44understanding of the Trinity relationship of God the Father,
- 10:47God the Son, and God the Spirit. So God is both love and law,
- 10:54merciful and just, impersonal in energy and force, but also
- 10:59qualitative and deeply loving as a personal being, even the
- 11:03source of all that is energy and especially all that is
- 11:07personality. You know, one of the things that
- 11:13I like, one of the attributes that I like and appreciate about
- 11:16the Oranga book, it how how it does harmonize the three great
- 11:21realities of our experience, our material world, our intellectual
- 11:26space and our spiritual aspirations, things meaning,
- 11:32value. And I hope that some of what I
- 11:36shared with you from Paper 104 helps you to have a better idea
- 11:41of the concept of the Trinity and how it relates to not only a
- 11:45God of energy and a God of force, but also a God of love
- 11:50and mercy. And these are the things that
- 11:53Jesus spoke about. So we'll see you again soon on
- 11:58the Urantia Radio podcast. And of course, any questions or
