Transcript
- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: And we're on, this is the cap report, the three-yard's precarious cap report of August the 7th, 20, 26.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: And today we had an availability by Jeff Haffley, and he came on early, early on in his availability and said,
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: because he was asked, you know, what kind of intensity, because they have light, medium, and high intensity practices, like he characterized them in one of three ways each day.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: And today was supposed to be a high intensity practice in pads.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: So we're led to the indoor facility for stretch, which is the routine every single day.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: And immediately we see Austin Jackson, Austin Jackson is in full dress, has his helmet, and is going to participate, and he did participate on this day.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: What can I say?
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: I opening day learned a lot.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think this was the most consequential practice of them all.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel pretty good in saying that.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: And in many respects, and I'm going to take you right
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think I don't worry about the running backs at all.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Ali Gordon took a step back.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: Today, I thought Jayden Wright was a little bit better.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: But that's, you know, those are our first more problems.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: That running back room is stacked.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: I even like Donovan Edwards too.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a very, very good running back room.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have a problem at all with that room.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: Very, very happy with it.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: As far as the quarterbacks, Gronowski today had as bad a few plays as you can possibly have.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: He threw a pick six, the very next play, he throws another pick.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: Back to back picks and he was essentially pretty, I would say inaccurate for the most part all day.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: When you were in warm-up, I was about to, I almost sent that out on Twitter that, when you were in his arm, look like I had a little bit more juice, all of a sudden.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: And they started playing and look, sometimes a player just doesn't have a club in their bag.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think those, those deep outs that you have to drive outside the red line.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that's a club that's in when you were just a bag.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think he likes throwing over the middle a little bit more.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think he feels much more comfortable throwing the ball over the middle.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: Malik Wallace today.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: Man, a couple of really eye-opening throws.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: He bought a lot of time on one play and I thought it was a legitimate, you know, sometimes in practice, especially a training camp.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: You see that the quarterback just dancing around for everything like, okay, this is not real.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: This is not real football.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: People stopped rushing.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: No, I think that there was a play where the offensive line actually gave him like five seconds, like they gave him a lot of time and he bought a little extra and it was a great looking throw, he made a throw on a deep crosser, headed toward out of bounds to Colt Turner, very, very good looking play.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: On the receivers, I thought Jalen Tolbert made a very nice catch early in in practice, contested catch on the sideline, but I thought Caleb Douglas stole the show once again, and you could see it in the one on one's, man, in the one on one's, you could see, look, and there was one play.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: I spoke about it on Twitter.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: I tweeted about it or on X, so I made an X about it.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: on like one on one they can't they don't really usually train they don't translate to real football it's not real football because you don't play one on one with no past rush and nobody else on the field you know that's not real football but sometimes there's a route that does translate and kill ducks ran a quick slant
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: on Juju Brents and very, very sharp.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: Caleb Douglas had a great day today.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: Made a bunch of catches in team period and he had one play on a belief.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, let me get, let me pull up the particulars of this play.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: because it was eye opener.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: He ran like he gave and I'll give you I'll give you a good rundown of what happened on the play because it was a hell of a move.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: Let me see if I could get who was in coverage and everything.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Jason Marshall was pretty much man-man with him, right?
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: And Douglas gives him like a nod inside like he's going to run the slant and then he just snaps it out and runs outside of Jason Marshall stacks him gets a step and Willis just laid it out right in front of him
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: but nobody had a better day than the tight-end today.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the tight-end's carried the day with Wilkass Merrick and Sadie Traeori.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: Sadie Traeori, man, continues to impress.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: Will he contribute this year?
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: Who knows?
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe, if they take an injury or two, he'll contribute.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: but what really impresses me about Sadatraori is how he catches the ball has really soft hands.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like sometimes you hear the ball hit the hands of these receivers.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: Sadatraori is like really really soft-handed.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can see, he just swallows the ball with his hands.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and his transitions are quick and fast to get yak.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's a noticeable player and a hell of an athlete.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he had a great day today catching the football.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: Cut about three passes and look good doing it.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: Look at his mark blocking.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: There was one play where it was a quarterback keeper by Malik Wallace.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Brooks is in pursuit right he's across the formation will cast merit comes across the formation to seal Jordan Brooks and at the last second you can see Jordan Brooks die whoa I almost got killed there and trust me if there were live completely live yeah will cast merit lights up Jordan Brooks and it was such an impressive block that Jordan Brooks after the play
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: Good going, Rook.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the tight ends were the best players on the field.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: Today, namely those two, Wilk has marked, and yeah, turn them in a great, great play also on the sideline, but it was mostly Wilk has marked and said who tried already, who were really, really good.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: Goodsign, Austin Jackson, booked a couple of wins, had a big win against Chop on a deep pass by Malik Wallace.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was really good.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: Patrick Paul got a little juice going, started talking trash to Chop Robinson as well.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, it was good to see, it's good to see a little edge out there with a few of these guys.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: Turned on to one guy.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: James Esther, he's a he's a convert like look he's not going to he's going to be stashed probably he'll be in on the on the practice squad He was converted from defensive tackle to guard and Good looking athlete can move so he's he's the guy to keep an eye on for the future.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: I I think that those stash him
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: He'll be around on the on the practice squad defensively What can you say about miles battle?
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: There was one play you were suppose Like the skinny post and it looks like it's caught but miles battle just comes across
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: And wrestles it away.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, I'm sorry.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's a wrong play mouse that one was a little bit overshot on the skinny post and mouse Battle comes across to pick it off and that one he almost took back for for a touchdown.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think he stepped out of bounce around the 10-year line
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: The one that he wrestled the way was on a go ball to Henning where he comes all the way across off of the off of his hashmark and it looks like it's a catch by Henning, but Miles Battle arrives instantaneously and wrestles the ball away for pick number two.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: So here's really good today, Miles Battle.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to Jackson Woodard.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: No, I know what you're thinking.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: Who?
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Jackson Water.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: 23-year-old.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: Second-year player out of U and LV.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: Linebacker.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: Inside Linebacker.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: Trust me when I tell you watch this guy play football.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm certain he's gonna play a lot next week I guess the commanders Because obviously I don't think you're gonna play Jacob a whole lot and you're not gonna play Jordan Brooks probably at all So watch Jackson Woodard Guy, play football.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: Perry
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: Also had an interception today, too.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, on a terrible pass by Miller, I believe it was, that one.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was by it.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: That was by it.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: No, that was on.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: Queen Ewers also.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: Queen Ewers threw us at the behind, said the trial already.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: Said the trial already tries to reach behind him to get the ball.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: and tips it and it's immediately intercepted by Jackson Woodard who was in trail technique and Jackson Woodard takes it back for a touchdown.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: Guy, complete football.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: you're going to get a you're going to treat next week when you watch him play football this guy can play now how do they keep this guy right like how many linebackers are you going to keep like how loose is a keeper Jacob Rodriguez is a keeper I don't think you couldn't train more Jordan Brooks of course Tyrell Dodson willy gay like what the hell does he fit in here
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: But man, I find a way to try to keep Jackson watered guy can play and we, and you're going to see them a lot more next week.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: Other than that field goal kickers, place kickers, there was a miss field goal today.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: I still am a bit curious as to why they're not having the field goal kickers do dirty kicks to find out who's actually better at it.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: They're having the juxtm machine do all the kickoffs.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe there's something that they'll do Saturday.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: Tomorrow is a stadium practice.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: It is not a scrimmage and I understand that on the radio that keep advertising it as a scrimmage.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: It was revealed to us today and we got confirmation from the head coach.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a practice tomorrow.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: The only thing that's changed is that it's in the stadium.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: So that's it.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: But I will be in the press box tomorrow and I'll try to offer as much play by play as I can tomorrow.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: But before we do limited about Discord, you got to become a member of our Discord.

- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: Do it on a desktop, avoid the Apple upchanges.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we're going to break, but first, these words, and we are back.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's take your questions.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, first question, how long until Jrod take a Rodriguez is officially a starter.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he's gonna have to hold off.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna have to hold off on on that just a little bit.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: Terrell Dodson's playing very well.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: He had a good week and man, that line-backing room is stacked.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think they did a fabulous job, man.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: For years here under Chris Greer, like they always had hand, but no broker, right?
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like they're always missing something.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like they always had one of the two line-backers was actually pretty good every single year.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: They never got the other side, right?
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: They never got the second guy, right?
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: Man, this guy's been here just one off season and John Erick Sullivan has done a fabulous job of filling up this line back in unit.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: It is loaded.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like I like a lot of players in this unit, including like I said Jackson watered.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: Jackson watered.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: Guy can play football.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: So how long is it until Jacob Rodriguez is a starter?
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: Man, it's just gonna have to wait a little bit.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if he just makes it inevitable,
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: Then I guess you trade Dodson before the season starts and you have to before you guarantee any money, right?
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess you trade Dodson before the season starts.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: And you hand the reins to Jacob Rodriguez if you just can't have him be on the bench or being a part-time player, you know, part-time player.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: It leaves just a guy that you look at and you identify as a guy that needs the 1000 snaps this year, because he's that good.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: And you don't want to stun his development.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: Then yeah, you probably trade Dodson, but I love this line backing unit.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: uh... next question has made some rigour look the part with pads all i looks great with pads i don't think he's played all that well and uh... i was expecting him to be better than he's been he's been better than the well but uh... i think he's been surpassed by a few guys in that depth chart and of course i can tell you you know any particular is about the depth chart because that's against NFL reporting rules
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I would have expected more from Mason Rieger, not to say that he's been disappointing.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: He just hasn't flashed enough in practice, but hey, games are coming.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, he's going to play.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: Next question does Caleb Douglas look like a solid-contribute early, absolutely.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: like he looks like he's going to be a contributor early on now you know dunk it you know don't get crazy you're not drafting this guy in the fourth round in your fantasy draft like I said you know you got a late draft pick you're in a league with a lot of dolphin fans especially a lot of dolphin fans that listen to this podcast you're in the 12th round you know taking for a
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: But yes, I like him.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: He'll be a contributor immediately.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: Next question, silly your question, but when a chance stands behind Paul and Proctor can you actually see him?
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: No, you really can't.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: I should give him an advantage on runs with his speed.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, absolutely.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: Do the run fits look promising?
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, you know, like I said, man, run fits are about linebackers.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: Most of these defensive tackles are going to do their job because usually their job is pretty simple, especially on this in this game.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: Your, your, your, moving into a gap over or you're shooting a gap.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: So the fits are pretty pretty clean for your linebackers to see, and nowhere to go, and like I said, these guys can play.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is a good linebacking unit.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Next question, with Malik Washington doing more on offense, does that give Coleman a roster spot as the return specialist?
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: Possibly.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: although they have a bunch of guys doing return duty right now.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think we know who the hell the returners actually are, but Coleman was actually a really, really high-end returner in college.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: So you would think he gets, he gets a roster spot due to that, right?
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: Especially since now Malik Washington is going to be doing a lot more and possibly playing outside That opens up a spot in the slot so maybe Kevin Coleman earns a spot there has he impressed no and now he's like There today.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: He did not practice today.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't believe he'll practice tomorrow.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think they said that he will be back next week Remember practice tomorrow sun is a day off
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: Monday and Tuesday are practices here, and then they're traveling Tuesday night.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: Wednesday is the joint practice Thursday is day off game day on Friday.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: Next question has killed Douglas got the hands drops issue under control lately.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't drop anything today, so he was better and this member writes,
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: He has been good.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: Next question, do you see Triori contributing early in the season of, or will he be an end of season star this year?
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: Look if Dalsic gets injured, I don't say how you keep this guy off the field.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like this, this guy's skilled.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know now there was always there's always the possibility that you get in in live situations and the guys completely clueless on the playbook and you can't have that For a past catching tether right like that's always a possibility, but we're gonna see them in games and he is a skilled player So yeah, I thought he was gonna be a stash this year and a guy that was gonna contribute next year Man, I think he might contribute this year
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: uh... and i guess this is more of a statement right and o g three that's all the court in the third going back and forth like a horse race can only really benefit everyone yes and like i said before this is really good unit uh... those those running back are good like those top three and like i said i even like down at the net that don't have a net worth two so to good unit like those three guys are good
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: so i'm happy with the running back room uh next question how serious was our interest in digs and do you see us actively looking to add a vet wide receiver via trade uh i think it depends on the availability of crispbell if crispbell is going to be you know it's going to be available in training camp that means he's going to be a contributor this season right
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: So if he's going to be a contributor this season, I would say probably not, now as far as the interest is to find digs, I asked, I asked, I asked around and nobody really knows.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: I did get one opinion from somebody that told me, you know, that they inquired on stuff on digs like they would on anybody else that became available, right?
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: That is just, you know, just a courtesy call,
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: But the same person told me, it was probably one of those where they call and they ask to fund the exam and you want to play for $3 million and he says, no, and then you hang up the phone, right?
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: Could have been something like that.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: But it was unclear.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody I asked, did not know the particulars of this.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of this trade stuff meant it's going to be tight, right?
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it makes you wonder, where did Adam chef to get this?
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, he didn't get it from the dolphins.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you that right now.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: So he got it from Stefan Diggs or Stefan Diggs's people, right?
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: But he obviously didn't get it from the dolphins.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: That this is a pretty tight lip organization.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: They do not leak.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: So, I'll say that.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: As far as adding another wide receiver of man, what the hell is out there?
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: All there is out there is Keenan Allen.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: You interested in Keenan Allen?
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: You played for $3 million last year.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: you know, what he, what he want to play for $2.5 million this year, he's a professional receiver, but does he offer you a skillset you lack right now on the roster?
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: Is, you know, do you have any interest at all?
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know, it's key to nailing the guy that you don't mind taking snaps away from some of these younger guys, or for that matter from Millie Gwashington, right?
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm agnostic on the issue as far as adding a wide receiver because it just isn't any.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: Now there's always a possibility in the last, you know, in one of the last cuts that somebody shakes loose, somebody worthwhile shakes loose, right?
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's always a possibility.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: So could we be interested then?
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: Would I be interested in adding a wide receiver of some caliber later on?
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: Anything that help Malik Willis, I think is a good thing.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: Next question, who do you see that feels like they are constantly progressing and improving as each day of camp goes on?
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mentioned Jackson Warder, he's one for sure.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I'll give you one on in each unit, okay?
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, quarterback, it's just Molly Cuollas, running back.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: I've already talked about those three guys, but I'll add one, DJ Herman, like he's going to be a contributor, he's going to be the full bite, essentially, this year.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: Wide receiver, hmm, I guess Caleb Douglas seems to be getting better.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: Every day, Tyden is a sadotrary for sure.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: On the offensive line, Jonas of Ina has had a good camp.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: Teddy had one negative play, Jordan Phillips got him with a club move, moved him out of the way.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: and made the play in the A-Gap against on Devon H and for no gain.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: So, very good play by Jordan Phillips, which is my defensive tackle in this category.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: At End or Edge, Uch has been steadily strong, but he's a veteran, right?
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: So, you want a rookie or a younger player?
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: Man, it's rough, right?
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: I guess Robert Biel is getting more snaps.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's earning more snaps.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: But other than that, you know, not so sure.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: Cleaning fair-wise has been pretty steady.
