- Shaun: Welcome back to the reset. I am Sean Tucker, human performance scientist and authority architect. We are here in the Living Lab documenting the science, the struggle, and the shift for every high performance dad and founder who is ready to bridge the gap between their ambition and their presence. Today is all about how you do one thing is how you do all things. What do they mean when they say that? And what does it mean for you so that you can walk away from this? episode and really change one thing that makes you better infinitely at all things. Okay, let's unpack it. Right? So let's let's look at that. How you do one thing is how you do all things. So if you change that one thing that you do, it will change everything for you. What is it? What could it be? I'd say what they're referring to here or what is being referred to here is your ability to see different perspectives. Your ability to respond rather than react. And that for me makes a lot of sense. And it probably does for you too. Because how you react to something is infinitely going to be reaction. How you respond to something, whether it's conscious or whether it just happens, aka it reacts, you react, and that's the next action in that portal or pathway or that effect of being hit or Having that action happen which causes the the reaction. Because there is something that is known as I think it's Newton's second law, and that is every action has equal and opposite reaction. Meaning if I say something and it stirs something in you, you have now reacted to my action of word. Yeah. Are you following so far? Good. If, however, you notice that reaction, because as a human, you have the ability to become conscious, to respond, to make a choice in how your next reaction comes or what you do with that next reaction. Because maybe in the gut it stirs something. Maybe beneath the surface it stirs something. But what you choose to do next, that's what we're referring to when we say how you do one thing is how you do all things. So let's give a real practical example. If you are in business and every time someone comments nastily, hatefully, spitefully, on your social media post saying you're nothing but a scam artist. You are nothing but a manipulator. You are nothing but caring for money. You don't help your clients. All you want is their money. Which from their perspective, look, it may be true. Because it's their point of view. It doesn't make it yours. But what happens next is most important. Because if you react and if you just charge back at this person and say, no, no, no, you've got it all wrong, well, that's one way to react to that action. But if on the other hand you sit with it, you respond, you notice what happens internally for you. You might feel attacked, you might feel threatened. You might even have to look over your shoulder for a second. But notice it's a perceived threat. It's not a real threat. Somebody is threatening your well being, yes. But are you in danger? Probably not. Probably not. But what happens next is most important because this is how you change how you do everything. You respond. Do you respond by not taking any reaction at all, not responding back, not replying back? 'Cause that is a response. Sometimes it's best to just walk away. Oftentimes it is best just to walk away. Other times it's good to test your next your your level of defence. Can you defend what was thrown at you? Without being attached to any outcome, without trying to prove your perspective, without trying to show them that they're wrong, can you just say, I don't agree? It's not why I'm doing what I'm doing. If you believe that, that's your opinion. Good on you. I hope you get the help y you need. That is a response. That's seeing them for what they believe and it's honouring you in not getting caught up in their story or who they think you are. Are you following what I'm saying? I hope so. Cause this applies to everything you do in life. If you're just reacting to the environment, to what people are saying, to what's in your environment constantly. I mean, I can't can't say that I'm perfect at this at all. When it comes to food cravings, I know that if I have a sudden craving for sugar, I go hunting the house for sugar products, be it chocolate, be it just heavy carbs, you know, quick digestible carbs. Like a drug addict searching for the next hit. That's literally what happens is I'm like looking around, tossing around, looking and trying to find my next source of sugar. And it happens. Right? It's a reaction. Do I always have to behave the same? No. But do I let the compulsion unfold and do I watch it as it happens? Do I try not to get caught up in the guilt and the shame of the pattern? Happening again. I do my best. I'm not perfect, but I do my best. Because often it's the behavior and the pattern and the shame cycle and the belief that look, I've I've messed up. Right? And I'm the one to blame for that. Well, I'm just re victimizing myself and not able to move forward from that. So if I observe the pattern. Only when I truly become the observer can I do something about it. Because when you become the observer you start responding rather than reacting. Can I play into this or do I not play into this? Should I play into it or not? That becomes the question. Cause the observer can then ask questions. And the more you remove yourself from being the actor, the person taking the action, then the better you can actually respond. So if you have found this episode helpful, make sure you share it with one person. It brings us to the end of this episode, and if you want to stop being a passenger in your own life and start being the architect of your legacy, make sure you comment the word reset and I'll send you the seven day integrity reset. Remember that most people wait for their life to change. We are the ones who architect our choices. Change your state, choose how you show up. I am Sean Tucker, I will see you in the next one.
