Major safety upgrades are underway on U.S. 97 between Galloway and O’Neil Highway, targeting deadly head-on crashes with new concrete islands, median barriers, and permanent right-in/right-out access at key intersections. Nighttime construction from 6 PM to 10 AM will bring closures, detours via Canal Boulevard, and lane restrictions — including the permanent removal of the southbound passing lane.
