- 0:00Erin Gray: Welcome back to Your Money, Your Rules podcast with me, your host, Erin Gray.
- 0:04Erin Gray: Today I want to talk about the Will Center in Human Design.
- 0:08Erin Gray: Specifically, if you are whether you're defined or undefined, I'm going to go over that as well as how this applies to yourself, just in general, your business, the people in your team, and how you lead.
- 0:21Erin Gray: So let's dive in.
- 0:23Erin Gray: If you are new to human design, I want to advise you to go back and listen to a couple of my episodes first.
- 0:30Erin Gray: Because what I'm talking about here is for people that are more so either have heard of human design, have already have their chart, they're a little bit versed in it.
- 0:40Erin Gray: So you, I will put some links in the show notes to go back and watch or learn a couple of things with human design so you can kind of get an idea.
- 0:50Erin Gray: Because number one, here's the other thing about human design.
- 0:53Erin Gray: It's just like for me, I always use this with my clients, but very loosely because I don't think human design is the end-all be-all.
- 0:59Erin Gray: I think human design is something that I use to just reconfirm what my clients already know.
- 1:05Erin Gray: And so as they're like having their training wheels and they're like coming back home to themselves and trusting themselves more, I just give them some things to have more so of like that external validation of things that they already know to like give them some like add a girls of like, yeah, I already know this, right?
- 1:23Erin Gray: Like that feels true in the body.
- 1:25Erin Gray: So I don't look at human design from a place of this is the Bible and this is the way it has to be.
- 1:31Erin Gray: I just use it as a form to support my clients, help them understand their team better and as well as themselves and like how to run their business.
- 1:41Erin Gray: So in human design, it might be called the will center, or it could be called the heart, or it could be called the ego center.
- 1:50Erin Gray: And so there are basically four gates that come off of this center.
- 1:55Erin Gray: So I'm gonna give some just generalities and then I'm gonna talk about being defined and undefined, and then how it actually pertains to money and also running your team.
- 2:05Erin Gray: So this is a motor center.
- 2:06Erin Gray: It is not a center which, in terms of a motor, it kind of comes on and it goes off.
- 2:11Erin Gray: It like pulses, right?
- 2:12Erin Gray: So this is more so the center for willpower and like bringing things forth on the material plane.
- 2:20Erin Gray: And again, sometimes I feel like human design, people take it like to the nth degree.
- 2:26Erin Gray: Like we all have, whether you have a defined or an undefined will center, you can all bring things forth on the material plane.
- 2:33Erin Gray: This is the center that is more so around like self-worth and self-esteem and our value.
- 2:39Erin Gray: And I think that this center can have a very much so like can right have masculine energy.
- 2:47Erin Gray: I think a lot of times of like the way that business has been done up until now, it's like a push, you know, use your willpower, like muscle through it kind of energy.
- 2:55Erin Gray: And I don't necessarily think that that is a healthy way.
- 2:59Erin Gray: And I don't think that a lot of us actually thrive in doing it that way.
- 3:03Erin Gray: So this center does have a lot of power.
- 3:06Erin Gray: So honor it because it kind of pulses on and off, you know, you have to think about like how am I working, how am I playing and resting?
- 3:15Erin Gray: Like you have to have this back and forth.
- 3:18Erin Gray: It can't just like if you're always on, you're always connected, you're always pushing, and because it's such a powerful center, you will burn yourself out, regardless of if you're defined or undefined.
- 3:30Erin Gray: So, this center, if you have a defined will center, it's going to be colored in in your chart.
- 3:37Erin Gray: And basically on the body graph, if you're looking at it, it's going to be kind of like that tiny, it should be labeled for you, but it's the tiny little center on the right hand side in between your identity or your G center, and I was gonna say north of your solar plexus, but above your solar plexus.
- 3:57Erin Gray: So it's a little triangle and it should be named will or identity or ego center.
- 4:04Erin Gray: About roughly 37-ish percent of the population has a defined, it's gonna be colored in.
- 4:11Erin Gray: If your will center is defined, it will be colored in.
- 4:13Erin Gray: If you're undefined, it will not be colored in.
- 4:16Erin Gray: So these are people that have probably more consistent access to, when I say willpower, I don't mean pushing against what you want to do.
- 4:26Erin Gray: I just mean that more steady energy of like when you decide to do something, you've got like the will to carry it through.
- 4:35Erin Gray: So I want you to remember if you have a defined will center, you are designed to work and to rest and to play.
- 4:43Erin Gray: If you do not rest, ultimately you will burn yourself out.
- 4:48Erin Gray: So think about how important play is, how important rest is, taking naps, how whatever rest might look like for you, of allowing yourself this pendulum swing back and forth of I work and then I rest.
- 5:04Erin Gray: I want to say here from a leadership and a team perspective, if you have a defined will center and other people that are in your org space have an undefined will center, they might feel really motivated when they are around you.
- 5:22Erin Gray: So let's say if you're having a team meeting and you have a uh defined will center and you're talking to your team and they're like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:28Erin Gray: You know, it's almost kind of like, yes, let's all do it.
- 5:30Erin Gray: Okay, we're ready.
- 5:31Erin Gray: Yes, let's go.
- 5:32Erin Gray: While they're in your energy, feel that way.
- 5:34Erin Gray: But then as they get out of your energy, that energy might actually wane, and that is normal.
- 5:41Erin Gray: So you want to be really mindful because a lot of times people with an undefined will center are kind of feeding off of your defined energy and you may not even know it, right?
- 5:52Erin Gray: So they might seem like, yes, I'm ready, let's go do the thing, and then their enthusiasm wanes.
- 5:59Erin Gray: And it isn't because they don't want to, it's just because they were kind of feeding off of that energy that you have.
- 6:05Erin Gray: So, something else that I want to say is if you do have a defined will center, keeping commitments to yourself, and I think that this is true whether you have a defined or an undefined will center, it's really important because you do have the willpower to carry it through.
- 6:20Erin Gray: And also of like, I think when we keep commitments to ourselves, here you go back to self-concept and your identity.
- 6:28Erin Gray: Someone that keeps commitments to themselves over something that's small, you are building up the evidence, you know, keep commitments to yourself in something big, right?
- 6:38Erin Gray: So I always look at this from like when you set goals or intentions or things of that sort.
- 6:43Erin Gray: When you are always, you know, doing what you need to do from a little perspective, like, hey, I said I was gonna sit down with the money and take a look at it, and you do that on a consistent basis.
- 6:56Erin Gray: When you start wanting to do bigger things, the brain will see, oh yeah, I already do this, right?
- 7:04Erin Gray: Like it's who I am.
- 7:04Erin Gray: What I say I'm gonna do is what I do.
- 7:07Erin Gray: Okay, so if you have an undefined will center, this is roughly 63-ish percent of the population.
- 7:13Erin Gray: Obviously, this changes, you know, people born and people pass away.
- 7:17Erin Gray: But it's really important that you use your strategy when making agreements.
- 7:24Erin Gray: Because when you enter into the agreements, you will have the energy to carry it through.
- 7:31Erin Gray: If you are just going off of, let's just say, somebody else's org energy, right?
- 7:37Erin Gray: Like if you have an undefined will center and you are trying to, you're saying yes and you're, you know, on the high, but you haven't ridden your wave, when you actually get to a neutrality, you may not have the energy or the desire to carry it through because you didn't actually allow yourself to get to neutrality.
- 7:56Erin Gray: So really start to think about if you have an undefined will center and you have a defined solar plexus, are you honoring yourself and allowing enough time to ride your wave to really see is this something that I actually want to do?
- 8:13Erin Gray: I want you to also say is regardless, make sure that you are valuing yourself.
- 8:19Erin Gray: We're all valuable because we are here on planet Earth.
- 8:23Erin Gray: Not because of what we do, not because of our revenue, not because of what our profit is, not because of you know what our team thinks of us.
- 8:31Erin Gray: We're here because we exist, that we are valuable, right?
- 8:36Erin Gray: So we don't have to prove there's nothing that we need to like earn, although a lot of us have been taught that.
- 8:44Erin Gray: We need to honor our rest, we need to honor the ebbs and flows of our energy.
- 8:48Erin Gray: And I think it would be good if you are open to like journaling, like noticing when is your energy higher, when is your energy lower?
- 8:58Erin Gray: And like, are you trying to push through when you have lower energy or are you allowing yourself to rest?
- 9:03Erin Gray: So you also want to make sure, like I said, with those of us that have a defined will center, if you have an undefined will center and you have some employees that have some defined will centers, you want to be really mindful of when you are saying yes to them or you are agreeing to something or, you know, because if you are in the energy of someone that is defined, you hear you go back to, you might be feeding off of their energy.
- 9:32Erin Gray: I remember I had a coach and she had a defined will center.
- 9:35Erin Gray: And so when we would meet, you know, she and I would talk about certain things and I'd be like, yes, that's good.
- 9:41Erin Gray: And you know, like in the meeting, I would be like all pumped up.
- 9:43Erin Gray: I mean, it makes me think of like the Tony Robbins or, you know, like those, those types of events where everybody's like rah, rah, rah, right.
- 9:51Erin Gray: But then when I would get out of her energy, it would kind of the my energy would kind of wane a little bit.
- 9:58Erin Gray: And I always had to come back to, was I working off of her energy, or was this actually mine and what I wanted to do?
- 10:06Erin Gray: So always check in with yourself.
- 10:08Erin Gray: Am I, you know, is this energy mine?
- 10:11Erin Gray: That's the question I ask all the time.
- 10:13Erin Gray: Is what I'm feeling right now, is that energy mine?
- 10:16Erin Gray: Am I trying to prove something here?
- 10:18Erin Gray: Am I trying to prove my worth?
- 10:19Erin Gray: Am I trying to prove my value, my experience, or anything of that sort?
- 10:25Erin Gray: Like just notice where that comes.
- 10:27Erin Gray: If you're experiencing it, you will know by how you feel in your body.
- 10:31Erin Gray: Okay, so let's talk about how the will center pertains to money.
- 10:35Erin Gray: When you are aligned, meaning when you are allowing the energy to flow the way it's meant to flow, you're gonna feel generous, you're gonna feel deserving and worthy.
- 10:45Erin Gray: You're going to have something just because you want it, not because you have to like you earned it or you worked hard for it or, you know, any of that proving energy.
- 10:56Erin Gray: When you are not aligned in your will center, it's gonna be a lot of proving energy.
- 11:01Erin Gray: You're gonna have to you feel like you're proving that you're worthy, or like when I say keeping up with the Joneses, I don't necessarily mean from a personal standpoint, although it could be that way.
- 11:10Erin Gray: What I also think about like is like trying to be your business, be like somebody else's, or have the revenue of someone else that you know, or like grow at the at the rate that someone else is trying to grow at, or whatever it might be.
- 11:25Erin Gray: So really think about like, am I trying to keep up with the Joneses with anyone in business, or am I just doing it my way?
- 11:32Erin Gray: What feels good to me in my body?
- 11:34Erin Gray: And then questions that you can ask yourself to gain more clarity is am I improving energy?
- 11:41Erin Gray: And I always say this is like you have to go back and take it to your body.
- 11:45Erin Gray: You will know because it won't feel calm, it won't feel neutral, it won't feel like at ease.
- 11:52Erin Gray: It's gonna feel like this leaning, like in my body, it feels like this leaning energy.
- 11:58Erin Gray: Like, let me give you a little bit more, let me show you, like, let me try to prove that I know what I'm talking about, or you know, that so really, really ask yourself like, am I improving energy?
- 12:10Erin Gray: And another question is, do I really truly want what I am going after?
- 12:15Erin Gray: Like, is this a true heart's desire?
- 12:18Erin Gray: And one of the ways that I always cut through the BS and I find out real quick is like, if I had a hundred million dollars, would I still want to do this?
- 12:25Erin Gray: Like that for me is such an easy way to just get into my body, bypass the mind, and be like, yeah, I would totally do it, you know?
- 12:33Erin Gray: Or is this something like my ego or my will center is at play here, right?
- 12:38Erin Gray: Like, is this a I want this here?
- 12:40Erin Gray: Go back to like, I want my business to be at X because so and so is at X.
- 12:44Erin Gray: It's like, why do you want to be there?
- 12:46Erin Gray: Like you really have to sit down and be like, okay, well, what would that entail?
- 12:49Erin Gray: What are the numbers?
- 12:50Erin Gray: Are you happy where you are?
- 12:52Erin Gray: Like, I think also in the business world, we think like we have to be growing, growing, growing all the time.
- 12:56Erin Gray: It's like the only thing that grows all the time and never stops is like cancer.
- 13:01Erin Gray: Nature rests, nature has seasons, nature knows how to ebb and flow, and it is so efficient.
- 13:07Erin Gray: So let nature be one of our teachers and let's ask ourselves like, are we trying to keep up with somebody else?
- 13:13Erin Gray: Because we think, right?
- 13:15Erin Gray: We have to be really clear on where is this coming from?
- 13:19Erin Gray: And I would also ask myself, what am I doing daily?
- 13:23Erin Gray: Daily, I said daily on purpose, daily for play to keep it light and to keep it fun.
- 13:30Erin Gray: And I am like, I will call myself out here.
- 13:33Erin Gray: I recognize where I can go into seriousness and the pressure, right?
- 13:37Erin Gray: Versus like, no, like I wrote down last night or the day before.
- 13:41Erin Gray: I'm like, my business is so fun.
- 13:43Erin Gray: That's not how I used to think about my business or business in general, right?
- 13:47Erin Gray: Like it was very serious, money was very serious, versus like, am I doing what I need to do to play and have fun?
- 13:53Erin Gray: I know that I need to move my body before I sit down and work.
- 13:56Erin Gray: Like that feels good to me.
- 13:58Erin Gray: So what are you doing for play?
- 14:00Erin Gray: And play can look in any way, right?
- 14:02Erin Gray: Play can look like I'm gonna go for a walk in nature.
- 14:05Erin Gray: Play can be like, I'm gonna go ride my bike, play can be like, I'm gonna go sit at a coffee shop and I'm gonna, you know, maybe write out my podcast episodes or look at some clients', you know, financials and stuff like that.
- 14:17Erin Gray: What are you doing that feels fun and enjoyable and not something that you have to earn, not where you have to go sit and do work and then go play.
- 14:28Erin Gray: Like what we're trying to teach the body too is we get to go play just because we want to.
- 14:34Erin Gray: Because when I play, all of my ideas come through.
- 14:37Erin Gray: All I get a lot of downloads.
- 14:39Erin Gray: Like, I don't feel like I have to earn, which I think a lot of us have had to earn grades when we were younger to go play.
- 14:46Erin Gray: We had to do what we needed to do.
- 14:47Erin Gray: Maybe we had to practice piano or we had to like clean our room before we got to go play.
- 14:51Erin Gray: It's all of this, like you do this and then you get that.
- 14:55Erin Gray: And I want you to really start thinking about how do I just play?
- 14:58Erin Gray: Because that is something that is loving to myself and to my nervous system and to my body.
- 15:03Erin Gray: And the more I play, the more I have fun, the more I take care of me, the more everything else follows and increases and flows because of that.
- 15:15Erin Gray: Okay, take some of these questions, think about them, contemplate them, journal.
- 15:21Erin Gray: Go pull your human design chart on my website, generatelifewell live.com, click on human design chart, and you can grab your chart and you can see, you know, what does your human design chart look like?
- 15:32Erin Gray: Are you defined or undefined?
- 15:33Erin Gray: So that you can really start to support yourself.
- 15:35Erin Gray: I'll also provide a couple of links in the show notes for you to go watch a couple of videos and understand human design.
- 15:42Erin Gray: And there's always, you know, YouTube.
- 15:44Erin Gray: Um, but just be really mindful that I like to use human design from an empowered place.
- 15:50Erin Gray: I think a lot of teachers look at it from a very disempowered place.
- 15:53Erin Gray: So just use that filter when you're gonna go watch and things of that sort.
- 15:57Erin Gray: Okay.
- 15:58Erin Gray: I will see you in the next episode.
