- 0:03Or Jeff Allen. Thanks for listening to the
- 0:06slippery slope there. Listen, I was reading through
- 0:09this article mainly because I that first, I thought it might
- 0:15have. Well, he claims to be kind of
- 0:18with a Christian base. Its Catholic thought, isn't it
- 0:23weird reading through it? Isn't it weird how we use
- 0:28religion? And we use scripture.
- 0:31When I say we I'm talking about the broader, our society now
- 0:36likes to use like to use scripture and religion.
- 0:42Well, like to twist it rather to back up their own moral or
- 0:47immoral arguments immoral thoughts their beliefs that they
- 0:53are able to live an immoral or a sinful life.
- 0:58And now use we like to use religious and scriptural
- 1:02arguments to back up. And we Sting the truth, twisting
- 1:06scripture twisting. Twisting words, twisting the
- 1:12meaning of words to backup your own arguments.
- 1:14This is where our society is that at the moment.
- 1:18And if you, if you can get around and think that these
- 1:21things aren't important, like always hear this argument,
- 1:24always read this argument and, and people will say, well what
- 1:27does it, what does it matter? What does it matter to you?
- 1:31If this person wants to be known by this of this person wants to
- 1:34be called this, what does it matter to you?
- 1:36If this person wants to To believe that they are
- 1:39transgender wants to live their life as a woman when they're
- 1:43actually a man or vice versa live their life as a man, when
- 1:46they're born a woman. What does it matter?
- 1:49What? What harm, what harm are they
- 1:52doing? But this is the slippery slope
- 1:56that Society finds itself on. WE continually allow or accept
- 2:02these things and continually make exceptions make excuses.
- 2:08And then we find ourselves on the slippery slope where we are
- 2:11always making these excuses and saying, well that's that person.
- 2:14What does it matter? What harm are they doing?
- 2:17But to the broader Society, they're doing a lot of harm
- 2:20reading through this argument. The amount of harm that this
- 2:23argument would do if you would read it as someone who is not a
- 2:27Christian and no understanding what Catholicism is and think,
- 2:32well, this is the, the broader. Christian perspective on things.
- 2:38And it is then twisting twisting the Bible.
- 2:44So listen, let's go through this article together and would love
- 2:49it. If you let me know what you
- 2:50think about the way our society now, twists scripture to support
- 2:56their own argument for things. So this article comes from
- 2:58Outreach which is an lgbtq Catholic resource.
- 3:02So I'm not going to read the whole lot, but the cat, the
- 3:06headline, says a Catholic case for choosing your own pronouns.
- 3:11So this is written. Written fairly recently,
- 3:15actually, so April 20, 23 blue came out.
- 3:17So in recent months, a number of Catholic Bishops in the US have
- 3:20spoke spoken out against transgender and non-binary
- 3:24people's decision to alter their pronouns names and bodies, some
- 3:30have even insisted that the Catholics Catholic schools must
- 3:34continue to use the birth pronouns and name of transgender
- 3:37and non-binary students in their schools.
- 3:40Despite the pain, melt the talk about an exaggeration because
- 3:45it's not actually pain. They've, anyway, despite the
- 3:49pain that non-binary and transgender people have
- 3:52expressed over this practice. So, straight off the bat.
- 3:55They are trying to tell us that there is such a thing as
- 3:59non-binary non-binary, people, non-binary is not, it's not a
- 4:04fact, you can't be six, gender is binary, there are only two,
- 4:09all it is. Is means to be binary.
- 4:11Is that there? There are two, there are two,
- 4:15there is only one. There is so there's only male or
- 4:19there is female. You don't get a choice, okay?
- 4:23You can you can have what, you know, you can change the
- 4:26outside. Change the facade.
- 4:30Make yourself look like like the opposite sex, but there is
- 4:35still, you're still at the core at the core of yourself.
- 4:38The core of your physiology, you are still what you're born, as
- 4:43your chromosomes will tell you that you are either male or
- 4:46female and sex is binary. So there's just no such thing as
- 4:51non-binary. Anyway, continuing on the
- 4:55arguments of these Bishops, and others have been built on caught
- 4:58Catholic, moral teachings, and interpretations of scriptures.
- 5:02And I would say it's built on Bishops, who actually read the
- 5:07Bible and maybe have a little bit.
- 5:09A modicum of an understanding of what the word of God says.
- 5:14This article goes on to say, I wondered whether there's another
- 5:17theological case that can be made in favor of the decision by
- 5:20transgender and non-binary people to alter.
- 5:23Are pronouns and names. So she's reached out the Riders
- 5:26reached out to three theologians.
- 5:28Okay, one of them is Father, James Keenan, SJ at Boston
- 5:32College. Another is Gina hens, Piazza
- 5:35PhD, scripture scholar of the Jesuit School of Theology in
- 5:40Berkeley Calif, and any Selleck PhD and an ecclesiology just at
- 5:47Georgetown University in Washington DC.
- 5:50In each case I asked them whether they Thought it Catholic
- 5:54theological case could be made for the acceptance of a person's
- 5:59Etude pronouns and name from the standpoint of their own
- 6:02discipline. Here's what they had to say.
- 6:04So, this Father James Keenan, there's he's the title of his
- 6:08section. The moral requirement of
- 6:10accepting agency, he says, I don't understand the problem.
- 6:15This is what? Father Keenan he tells me as we
- 6:18begin our conversation. People may think I'm naive, but
- 6:22it just strikes me that I don't call somebody and names.
- 6:25They don't want to be called. I note the argument named made
- 6:29by some that what is at issue is the truth of who those
- 6:35individuals are. I've got to say I would agree
- 6:39with that. That is what that's what's at
- 6:42the heart of the argument. Really is, what is the truth or
- 6:44what the person is he responds with its their truth though.
- 6:53That's what we're talking about there truth.
- 6:56How does the bishop have more capability of grasping other
- 6:59people's truth than they themselves?
- 7:01Do, there's something deeply disturbing about claiming you
- 7:05understand. Stand a person's truth better
- 7:07than they do. Stop right there.
- 7:12This this this narrative that people want to take, you know,
- 7:19shaping the story like, well, it's The truth.
- 7:22But it's not the actual truth. I remember a job that I went to
- 7:26when I was in the place, you know, will call to this will
- 7:30call to this this incident and this young fella tried to kill
- 7:35an older guy. Now, the young fellows living
- 7:38in, the older guys house there were up living up in the old
- 7:40called the Jungle jungle area. It's very, very isolated.
- 7:45We got called there at some ridiculous on the morning like
- 7:482:00 in the morning. 3:00 in the morning, something like that.
- 7:51We get called up there. Around the junk.
- 7:53Once a jungle, I'm not exaggerating.
- 7:55It was Jungle, we get called up there, this young fella.
- 8:00He was drugged affected now. He had, I would say, if I
- 8:05remember this correctly, he had participated in some kind of
- 8:10long-term long-term drug use on a boat, I think maybe months
- 8:17earlier. Okay, and he'd done some serious
- 8:20drug. Use the issue is You know, if
- 8:23you're going to, if you can use all these chemicals on your
- 8:26brain, it's going to come back and haunt you from time to time
- 8:30because of the really hardcore drugs that he's used earlier on
- 8:34in his life. A couple of months earlier for
- 8:37prolonged amount of time. It's triggered something else in
- 8:40him, he is tripped out, he has started to hallucinate and then
- 8:45because of this loosen, loosener hallucinating is then tried to
- 8:51kill the old man. He is seeing a lot of other
- 8:54people that just simply weren't there.
- 8:57He thought he was surrounded. He thought his life was in
- 8:59danger. He thought the old man was going
- 9:01to kill him and going to sexually attack him and so he
- 9:08has picked up a I think was a hammer, a really hard, big
- 9:11hammer actually and he very nearly killed the old man.
- 9:15Smacked him on the head, get him a good one.
- 9:17Anyway, the old man has managed to talk him around.
- 9:21Talk him down. Down calm things down, bring him
- 9:26back to a sense of reality and assure him that his life, isn't
- 9:31in danger that he isn't about to be attacked.
- 9:33That there aren't a big group of people out there going to attack
- 9:36him. Calm him down called the police.
- 9:42Therefore we have, we been called up there.
- 9:43So at a roughly you think 4:00 in the morning, something like
- 9:47that, we get there. I rest the young fella, we get
- 9:51the a version of the story from the old man.
- 9:53It seems like. Then we found out that this
- 9:55young polish participate in a lot of drugs, probably some
- 9:59months earlier on this is It's Gone on to continually affect
- 10:03him and that's why it seemed like, you know, they've been
- 10:06doing some other things and And is triggered something.
- 10:08He's mine. On that night, you could say
- 10:15that this young followers truth, his perception of Truth was that
- 10:20his life was in danger and that he was protecting himself.
- 10:26The problem is it wasn't the truth, his life.
- 10:30He was not surrounded by a large group of people throughout who
- 10:34he thought were outside the house, trying to break in and
- 10:37the old man was not in cahoots with this large group of people.
- 10:42Legendary people at side. And he was not trying to kill
- 10:46the young followers as well. That just wasn't happening.
- 10:48All these people weren't there. The, the truth was that he was
- 10:52very safe. He was not about to be killed,
- 10:56that was the truth and when I hear people making these
- 11:00arguments about, like, what this so-called father says, you know,
- 11:04it's their truth. That's what we're talking about
- 11:07there. Truth there is a big difference
- 11:10about the actual truth and their truth further on down the
- 11:13sergeants article says, I wonder what keen and makes of the
- 11:16decision by some Bishops to frame, transgender persons
- 11:19decisions as indicative of Mental Health crisis, rather
- 11:24than a legitimate desire, this this is the other thing.
- 11:27It is a mental health crisis. You can't how do you frame this
- 11:34argument and it brings us argument up and say Well it it's
- 11:38not Not a mental health issue for me for someone to stand up.
- 11:44And we seen a lot of cases like this at the moment I have just
- 11:47recently where someone will stand up and say no, no, I
- 11:49identify as a woman and you're looking at them going.
- 11:53You obviously, obviously are a man like obviously and to make
- 11:59it to make it even worse. You have these blokes stand up,
- 12:04say I identify as women, they've had no surgery at all.
- 12:08They don't take But don't take any tablets that.
- 12:11I'm take hormone replacement therapy medication, they don't
- 12:17get any kind of any kind of surgeries done.
- 12:21It's just, no, no identify as a woman and then we're all
- 12:25supposed to accept that, but that is not the reality and even
- 12:29if they say, well, that's their reality.
- 12:32It is very, very likely that it is the mental health issue.
- 12:39You don't have to accept something just because someone
- 12:41tells you that's their truth. And the way that he twists
- 12:45everything around, I'm going to get into the next our so-called
- 12:48expert here. So this this section of the
- 12:50story, the article is titled, the inmost self.
- 12:54This is Gina hands, Piazza, PhD. So she's an expert.
- 12:58So, she starts off saying in consideration, and considering
- 13:02the question of self-identification the
- 13:04scripture scholar Gina hens, Piazza begins with some 139,
- 13:10Psalm 139 1316. I immediately thought, well,
- 13:14maybe this person is going to have a great biblical basis for
- 13:17the argument, but no twisting the scripture completely in the
- 13:22psalm. It says you formed my inmost
- 13:24being you knit me in my mother's womb, I praise you because I am
- 13:27wonderfully made wonderful. Are your Works.
- 13:29Your eyes saw me unformed in your book.
- 13:33All the written down the days were shaped before one came to
- 13:36be the clear sense here. Here, hens Piazza explains is
- 13:40that the self that has been created by God is more than the
- 13:43physical. Sell, the inner self is being
- 13:46lifted up here. That inmost self.
- 13:48She said, she says is what really defines a person, but the
- 13:52psalmist rather than any notion rather than any notion of
- 13:56physicality. Okay, I'm pretty sure it says
- 13:59you knit me in my mother's womb, doesn't that seem to indicate
- 14:04physicality anyway, some 39 130 Celebrates the creation of the
- 14:10innermost self as the actual Act of God.
- 14:15You see the twisting of scripture here saying?
- 14:18No, no, it's not the physical, it's not the outside.
- 14:21That is the actual Act of God's the inmost.
- 14:24So if you going on, it says, in this context, claiming the
- 14:29identity that we discover within ourselves over time, rather than
- 14:33being a sin or era is the way in which we are true to God.
- 14:37The person can buy virtual Two of their in touch - with
- 14:40themself pray with themselves. Praise God for being so
- 14:44wonderfully made. You see the way she's Twisted
- 14:46scripture around in this context, claim the identity we
- 14:51discover within ourselves over time or what she says back here,
- 14:56Psalm 139 celebrates the creation of the inner most self,
- 15:00as the actual Act of God, it's kind of.
- 15:03So she's saying she's pushing aside the physical aspects and
- 15:07saying, well, what the actual the actual Act of God is is that
- 15:13the inner, the inner self, the spiritual self and then twisting
- 15:17everything to say, well, when you have this, when you have
- 15:20this, you know this what would you say like this sudden desire?
- 15:25The sudden thought would come into your mind and you think wow
- 15:30I'm actually if you're a man and oh no I'm actually a woman
- 15:34that's just yourself. Having this Revelation this
- 15:38Godly Revelation. That's what that's the way.
- 15:41She's trying trying to twist scripture, anyway.
- 15:46So going on, says, while the question of personal pronouns,
- 15:51is not something that comes up in Scripture, it is just so far
- 15:54outside the mindset of antiquity and Piazza notes that any number
- 15:59of biblical characters do change their names.
- 16:03Abraham's name is changed to Abraham see ride Sarah Jacob
- 16:07Israel Saul DePaul well see again twisting scripture and she
- 16:13notes. These name changes always come
- 16:16back to that same, feeling expressed by transgender
- 16:19persons, of ones, inmost self, what, trying to get draw some
- 16:23correlation between Abram to Abraham, searider, Sarah Jacob
- 16:28to Israel, Saul, to Paul correlating that to me with the
- 16:33delusion of transgender person. And she goes on to say, all of
- 16:38these changes are in conjunction with identity changes with their
- 16:42deep self-understanding. Oh my goodness.
- 16:48Okay, I just can't even I'm gonna list.
- 16:51I'm going to read some scriptures.
- 16:53Let's answer this for starters. These people did not have a
- 16:57revelation and decide that they wanted to change their names
- 17:00themselves from Abram to Abraham in Genesis 17 from 17 onwards.
- 17:08It says, when Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to
- 17:11Abraham to Abram. And said to him, I'm almighty
- 17:14God, walk before me and be blameless.
- 17:16And I will make my Covenant between me and you and will
- 17:21multiply you exceedingly and Abram fell on his face.
- 17:24And God talked with him saying, as, for me, behold my Covenant
- 17:29is with you and you shall be a father of many nations, no
- 17:32longer no longer shall your name, be called, sell your name,
- 17:37be called a Abram. But your name shall be called
- 17:40your name shall be Abraham, but I have made you a father of many
- 17:45nations. We'll go down to verse 15.
- 17:50So just note there Abraham, didn't decide, I've got this
- 17:54fuzzy warm feeling inside me, I want to be called Abraham God
- 17:59changed his name to Abraham further down.
- 18:02Then God said to Abraham as for Sarai your wife, you shall not.
- 18:10You shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her
- 18:14name and I will bless her. And also give you a son by her,
- 18:18then I'll bless her. This hens Piazza twisting,
- 18:25scripture. Go to Jacob to Israel in Genesis
- 18:2832 27 to 29. Okay.
- 18:31Jacob's talking to talking to God.
- 18:34Here. I could get actually Jesus but
- 18:36I'm not to get in. Get into that into that
- 18:39discussion. I'll leave it for the
- 18:41theologians so he says to him so he said to him, what is your
- 18:46name? He said, Jacob and he said your
- 18:51name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel for you have
- 18:55struggled with God and with men and have prevailed.
- 19:00And Jacob are saying, tell me your name, I pray.
- 19:02And he said, why is it that you asked about my name and he
- 19:06blessed him there again, God changed Jacob to Israel.
- 19:13It wasn't because Israel had this This delusion, this
- 19:19thoughts, this crazy idea that you know I don't want to be
- 19:21called Israel because that's my innermost self identification.
- 19:26God said. Now when it comes to Paul Saul
- 19:30and Paul when I when you read scripture it seems it seems like
- 19:35I'm not going to say I'm any expert on this but it seems the
- 19:39most logical argument when you read it, Saul had several names
- 19:45actual legitimate names as in You know, I've got more than one
- 19:48name. I've got a first name and a
- 19:50middle name. And last name it seems.
- 19:52That's probably the case with Saul.
- 19:54He had his name Saul and it says install who was also called
- 19:58Paul. And then from then on, Everyone
- 20:01referred to him as Paul, he referred to himself as Paul.
- 20:05I'm not saying that the Holy Spirit didn't give him
- 20:09instruction. Hey, gopal, because it was just
- 20:12after a very deep encounter filled with the holy spirit, all
- 20:15I'm saying is it seems like. Okay, what I take out of it is
- 20:20that he had a name, I would say his name is probably saw middle
- 20:24name Paul. Maybe add another name in those
- 20:28in those in that area. You tend to have several names
- 20:31anyway. Look, I just this idea that you
- 20:37can just twist anything around and and why they doing twisting
- 20:42scripture around to me nor to be whatever you want it to be.
- 20:46Just it does not sit, right? And it just these people are
- 20:51going to have to well, again at the answer to God in reality, in
- 20:55the, in the long run. But what I really don't like
- 20:58here is the way Christianity is Being Framed and obviously this
- 21:05isn't a true Christian arguments.
- 21:07Okay. But people would look at this
- 21:09and saying, well, there's a Christian argument to this
- 21:12because all these people now come and twist scripture to
- 21:15support their own. Unbiblical.
- 21:22I'm biblical arguments to be honest demonic.
- 21:27So I'm going to continue on because I can't read any more of
- 21:31that hens Piazza. So this one here, contending
- 21:35with the wounds of the churches that NEC luck PhD.
- 21:39She goes on to say that a lot of the Georgetown Eck ecclesiology,
- 21:43just any Selleck's current work focuses on the wounds carried by
- 21:48the church. She says, my basic thesis is
- 21:51that the church can only credibly be church if it attends
- 21:54to its own wound. She says listing, racism sexism
- 21:59clericalism and the exclusion of the lgbtq community as amongst
- 22:05as amongst them if you just focus on.
- 22:12This idea that the lgbtq community has been excluded,
- 22:17it's not true. The Bible.
- 22:21Clearly states. Clearly very clearly teachers.
- 22:27That homosexual homosexuality is a sin just like other sexual
- 22:34sins. Like adultery like sex outside
- 22:39of marriage sex before marriage. Bestiality homosexuality is sin,
- 22:47it's not excluding the community.
- 22:50It's just that the Bible and churches should stand up and
- 22:54teach stand up for what's in the Bible.
- 22:59And it's not that you're excluding them from church, you
- 23:01want? I mean, all people are sinners,
- 23:05all people are born, Sinners, you wanting to bring the sinner
- 23:09in. but if the sinner doesn't accept that, the Bible teaches
- 23:14that these things are sin, I don't know what what more can
- 23:20you say? our words do matter the way we
- 23:25frame our words, the meaning of words they matter, You can't
- 23:30have your own personal truth. There is fact.
- 23:36And then there is fiction, there is the truth, and if it's not
- 23:39truth, then it's a lie. In Revelation, chapter 21.
- 23:48If I'll read from verse 7, it says he who overcomes shall
- 23:52inherit all things and I will be his God and he shall be my son,
- 23:56but the Cowardly unbelieving abominable murderers sexually
- 24:01immoral Sorcerers idolaters idolaters.
- 24:05So and all liars shall have their part in the lake which
- 24:09burns with fire and brimstone which is the second death you
- 24:17know, these these Scholars, the so-called experts, the PHD
- 24:21people, The hell line that twisting scripture to support
- 24:28their own delusions. Saying that they love people by
- 24:35lying to them supporting them in their own delusion.
- 24:42Do not fall for the do not fall for the twisting of scripture
- 24:48and do not start using scripture.
- 24:52As a basis for your own self delusion.
- 24:55That's just my opinion. Let me know what you think.
- 25:00Thanks for listening to the slippery slope.
- 24:52As a basis for your own self delusion.
- 24:55That's just my opinion. Let me know what you think.
- 25:00Thanks for listening to the slippery slope.
