Jill and I gotta say, I don't know if you, I don't remember if we've talked about it. Just finished the fourth episode of a night at the seven kingdoms. I'm digging it. I know if you've jumped in have we'd I have heard yes yes which we're gonna get into today but um yeah episode 5 came out this week I haven't gotten a chance to watch that one yet but apparently from the Twitter sphere and all of social media it's a banger so I'm ready I'm ready but absolutely Jesus: I have not started yet, but it is on the to-do list, yes, especially before season 3 gets going. They do be doing bangers on the Game of Thrones, man. They stay cooking, if you will. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. ⁓ well, we're gonna get started on our news nuggets because there are a good amount of them ⁓ and of course, as is the Yeah, as is the the theme with with the with the year so far ⁓ Two stars have passed away within the last week ⁓ Robert Duvall obviously a star of the first two godfathers ⁓ he's been a part of Jesus: Dude, 2026 sucks right now. This is ridiculous. Nolan: decades and eras and I don't even know like he's been a part of The Judge, The Great Santini. He's part of Generations as an actor. He passed away at the age of 95, I'm assuming of natural causes. He had a great illustrious career and he... Jesus: Take your pick, man. Nolan: He had a lot of fun. You know, I can I can always remember him doing all these kind of series movies, but he also had these random moments of just being a part of little small comedy things here and there, where he like was I think it was for Christmases. He played ⁓ one of the dads with Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon. And I was like this guy who just wants to jump between kind of like Robert De Niro, obviously. ⁓ And he obviously is going to be greatly missed. ⁓ And then on the other side of it, Eric Dane who passed away at 53. He's been very outspoken about his battle with ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease for those who are unaware. ⁓ He had deeply declined I would say in the past year or so. ⁓ And obviously he was the star of Grey's Anatomy. He was just recently more so in Euphoria. He's been known for a lot of other roles throughout his career. And it's terrible. great actors within the span of a week, Jalen. ⁓ What are your thoughts? Jesus: Just like why can we slow down? Are we done yet? Can we just like chill? You know what I mean? Just yeah, just yeah, you know what I mean? Like it's just not 2026 is just they it's just ridiculous at this point with who we've lost and why we you know and all the other stuff so I'm gonna need them to chill out like a lot so Nolan: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I'm hoping, not to make light of anything like this, but I'm hoping that we have gotten the shit, the shit's end of the stick out of the way for 2026 because yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, let's move forward. Let's not dwell. ⁓ Jesus: Yeah, can we get to some good stuff happening this year? That'd be cool. You know? Nolan: our thoughts and condolences to the families and loved ones of these two great actors Robert Duvall and Eric Dane. ⁓ Next, the first news nugget of the week. Warner Brothers reopens takeover talks with Paramount after receiving a waiver from Netflix. ⁓ Long story short, pretty much it just says that Warner Brothers is letting Paramount know, hey, we're going to give you one more chance to give us your best offer. ⁓ See what you're cooking with. Throw it out there. ⁓ Since Netflix did have the first bid they technically had to gain a waiver from Netflix to allow that to happen. ⁓ Jalen question that I have for this is do you think this is them humoring them legitimately or is this kind of Warner Brothers business sense just saying like hey ⁓ give us a better offer so we can throw something back in Netflix like hey this is now what Paramount's about to offer us can you raise up what you're doing. Jesus: see what they got on the table, you know. Yeah, I think you're just trying to milk Netflix at that point with this move. You know what mean? I don't think it's like, yeah, it's just a, hey, let's explore all our options, let's see what they've got, because then maybe, like you said, we can use this leverage and maybe get a better deal than what we have now. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: Etc, etc. So it's not like, ⁓ you know, I guarantee they're gonna go back to Paramount by any means or anything. yeah, I think it's more of just getting more leverage on Netflix as much as they can before everything kind of gets finalized and all that kind of stuff. Because at this point, it's pretty much Netflix's deal to lose. So yeah, I think it's just trying to push out some more dollars, more dollars, more money type stuff, you know what I'm More dollars, more money. Nolan: Exactly, Yeah, absolutely. And I think there I didn't put it up here for this week's segment, but there is another I think article released that ⁓ Steve Sarandos, who's the CEO of Netflix, did confirm that he is going to be sticking with the 45 day window. ⁓ After that, it'll go to VOD. Jesus: Good for him. Nolan: and then following that it will go to streaming on the ⁓ applicable streaming service. So Warner Brothers would get their or HBO would get their stuff for whatever it may be. And it's reasonable, know? Yeah. So, you know, kudos to you Netflix for looking to expand your horizons for the betterment of Warner Brothers. Hopefully we'll see. Let us know down in the comments below. Jesus: think that's reasonable. I think that's reasonable. Cause like for casual people that don't follow box office numbers like we do. I think usually by week three, you're gonna see 60 to 50 % drop off anyway. a 45 day window is plenty, I think, to get enough theater money and then put it on VOD. Honestly, I feel like you could even cut it down to 40 if you really wanted to kind of min-max it a little bit because then you get the first two weeks, which is your highest gross, then you're basically getting diminishing returns every week after that. So unless it's just the banger of a banger film, like an end game, Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Jesus: like a know an avatar or something like that. ⁓ Most movies I think would be fine with a 40-day format or 45. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Yeah I agree. ⁓ But let us know down in the comments below what you think about them finally reopening talks with Paramount. Is this gonna be something serious or is it just kind of for shits and giggles? Let us know. Next news nugget, Dead by Daylight which is a horror game that has I wouldn't say cult following, it has good following. ⁓ But it is kind of like cooperative it allows you guys to kind of escape the horrors of what's going on. ⁓ Apparently it's gonna be getting a movie adaptation from bloom house, which we all love and the conjuring writer team for I think was conjuring to writing team ⁓ now I would say The biggest question I have for you for this is this going to be something That's just kind of done willy-nilly. Like there was, ⁓ what's the... Until Dawn, ⁓ which was based off a video game I got a chance to watch when it came out to streaming. It... was okay. ⁓ you know, it was okay. Jesus: It is a film that existed and is out there. Nolan: was not necessarily something amazing but it was a film. ⁓ Definitely not the worst film I've seen, definitely not the worst horror video game adaptation I've seen but it did leave me a little bit more to be desired and now they're continuing they're continuing to make a lot more video game adaptations as of recently which for better or for worse I'm digging it because it's a lot of them are from echoes of our childhood and things like that. ⁓ Jesus: review is really enticing. Mm-hmm. Nolan: But you think that this is hopefully going to add to the love of video game adaptations being brought to screen or is this going to start kind of in good hands? It's a great writing team. The Conjuring films have actually been of recent decade better horror movies than most. Bloom House obviously has built up their rapport with everyone from audiences to studios. ⁓ to actors about what they can do with certain IPs. ⁓ How do you feel about them continuing forward with a video game adaptation in Dead by Daylight? Jesus: I just always, you know, do you stick to the core, like the lore that's in the game already? Like as long as you're not breaking stuff and characters aren't just being made different for different sake, you're gonna be fine. You know mean? Look at Sonic. Sonic, there was a large fan outcry about his design and how he looked and then we won, right? And then that turned into what? Three movies and then a Paramount Plus series. like, just listen to the fan overviews, like listen to what the fans liked and then just make the movie that way. It's fine. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jesus: That's how video game adaptations work. think Laura Croft is gonna be fantastic. Now there's the gooner-bait sector of the male audience that is upset because it's not Angelina Jolie body type, right? But like realistically, like Sophie Turner is a very attractive woman. Like she's hot enough to be sexy and also pull off all the action. So like that's the other half of Laura Croft that they want to dismiss, of course, because that's what they remember from playing it on the PS1 with the giant polygons. ⁓ So like, yeah. Nolan: Yeah. Yep. Good call out. Jesus: So, know what mean? So again, I'm just saying like, like it's so crazy to me that they're like that. It's not it's not how the game was. It was PS1. I say PS1 graphics. We're getting salt over that. Are we for real? ⁓ Nolan: I wanna see the great pyramids on her chest. ⁓ Jesus: and all that kind of stuff. yeah, it's just like these video game adaptations, a lot of the time, and then there's also terrible games out there, but a lot of the time the successful games have like really good story underneath them anyway. So if you just follow what is already written and adapt it as best you can, then you're gonna be in good shape. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: You can literally go frame by frame like little ass of us and be fine because the story is already there for you. You don't have to change a lot. And all that kind of stuff. So I think if they stick by that, Dead by Daylight's also got a really solid following behind it. Great game series. ⁓ So yeah, just stick to what's already there, man. You're going to be just fine. Nolan: Yep. Yep. Mm-hmm. Right on, right on. Yeah, I'm interested to see it. Obviously, it's not a game necessarily that I've jumped into. Keoni and I have talked about maybe one night doing like a horror game night where we just find some bangers and just crank them out. So we'll see if, yeah. So we'll see if this is one of the ones that kind of hops into it, but we'll see from there. I think that... Jesus: Gotta record that one. That's some Zontan. Nolan: This is gonna be very exciting, so let us know down in the comments below what you guys think of Dead by Daylight coming to Blumhouse and the Conjuring writers to screen near you, hopefully soon. Next news nugget we got. So, you know, we've talked about in the past, The Hunt for Ben Solo was a movie that was potentially on the table. ⁓ Then, yeah, yeah, and then it quickly lost steam. Jesus: You've been cool, man. Nolan: as did all the Star Wars announcements like a Tech-O-YTT film, where's that been? I ⁓ think that this… ⁓ yeah. ⁓ But Steven Soderbergh, who was penned to direct this film, ⁓ he was a little upset about and aired out his frustrations regarding how it all kind of went down, saying that he pretty much wasted two and half years developing this film. Jesus: You actually okay on that one. Okay on that. Need a little break from Taika right now. Nolan: quoted as saying, made the movie in my head, just felt bad that nobody else was going to get to see it. It's insane. We are all very disappointed. ⁓ The thing I have for this, obviously it's not the fact that I want a Hunt for Ben Solo film. ⁓ Would I have welcomed it? Sure, yeah, Star Wars. And I love Adam Driver. Ben Solo was not the issue with the newer trilogy. ⁓ But you're getting a good director, someone who was a part of the Ocean's Eleven ⁓ trilogy, the George Clooney one, Aaron Brockovich, and... Jesus: No he was not. Nolan: You're getting this guy probably into the studio saying, hey, we would like you guys to start developing something for our new Star Wars film, only for it to go nowhere. Jalen, how does this play out? How does this happen? Is this something where maybe he was voicing his ⁓ ideas and they were just like, nah, you know what, maybe this is not the thing we're going to do. Or is it just Kathleen Kennedy putting the cart before the horse? Jesus: It's yes, it's a mix bag. there's also this to think about. ⁓ I'm a last Jedi apologist, right? I think that's one of the most authentically real pieces of cinema that Star Wars has ever produced from like top down. think that challenged a lot of, ⁓ I think general character arcs that have been established. think it opened a lot of interesting doors. They're not doors that were fan theory, so everybody got mad at it, but they were doors opened by the end of that film that I thought would have been really, really interesting to explore in the third film. But that being said, Nolan: I enjoyed it too. I truly did enjoy that. Yeah. Jesus: it did irreversible damage to that studio from the backlash it got from some of the core audience. And so when you have a director that is clearly really good creatively and then they have concerns about what you're doing with certain characters, I think a lot of that clashes. And then Kathleen Kennedy is saying this movie is going to happen before anything else gets ironed out. Like, A, Adam Driver even wanting to be interested to come back, which he currently is not. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: He's opened up to it little bit more, like I think as of like a year ago, still... It's kind of like the station, right? Like I think the door is pretty much closed on Kylo or like a Ben Solo thing, at least right now. He might be in a, you know, Hayden Christensen situation where, you know, five years from now it pops up like, hey, we want to do a, you know, a prequel series with Ben Solo and all that kind of stuff. But that's really where it lies, though, is when a director has probably a pretty clear vision of what he wanted to do with Ben Solo. Nolan: Once upon a time, the train has kind of left the station, I think. Jesus: what he was going to get out of Adam Driver as an actor. think that would have been probably a really interesting Star Wars film, but there is kind of a brand and how and like a ⁓ status quo to how Star Wars films have to go and they have to be very basic. They're not allowed to be challenging. They're not allowed to be creative. And that's why Andor popped off so much because we finally had a Star Wars film that was actually good. Like it actually had good writing, actually had good character development and had challenging ideas. It had overarching politics. themes like all those little things that God love George you know and all the stuff that he's created for Star Wars I love Star Wars but he was not a great you know narrative storyteller from that sense he could say this is a good guy this is a bad guy here's how the adventure goes and it was very straightforward easy to follow but Nolan: He took care of the macro, not the micro. Jesus: Right, we were never really caring about like Luke's intentions and motivations and how he really was like how his character is really dealing with all this stuff. Like it was just very much Luke's the good guy, never really has any issues or challenges, has to go do the thing against Darth Vader, then he always wins because good guys win in the galaxy. There's no real sense of why he was able to win other than plot armor. ⁓ Because that's just how that goes. I'm sure some sweaty are, you know, some sweaty Star Wars fans are gonna argue with me. But that's the truth like if you watch the original trilogy, it's black and white good guy bad guy And that's the storyline versus when you watch ryan johnson's trilogy You can watch it from the perspective of kylo and see that he's the protagonist in the movie You can see it from ray's perspective how she's the protagonist in the movie and both characters are objectively right in what they're trying to do And I think that's a much more interesting place to be and or same thing. There's two pete. There's two parts of the resistance kind of going about how they're going to deal with Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: Empire in a very different way. And then on top of that, you're still trying to navigate operating this resistance within the Empire, which is getting stronger and stronger. And there's like all those political thriller elements of are they going to get caught? What's going to happen if they do get caught and they get captured and all these things. So I think that has always been lacking in Star Wars. And I don't think the fans will ever grow up enough to allow it to be what it could be, which is a really, really fantastic piece. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: of sci-fi cinema. Nolan: Yeah, because when it comes down to it for a lot of when you look at the the big parts of everything, a lot of it is you don't want to overthink while you're enjoying a piece of sci fi right Star Trek, you know, Star Trek. Jesus: Sure. Yeah. Nolan: you know, enthusiasts, I don't want to call them geeks because we're all we're all a little nerdy and geeky here, enthusiasts, ⁓ they dig down to the nitty gritty of what Star Trek is, right? But a lot of the time someone watching it, that's why the new ones were kind of divisive is because it was more of a just an action sci-fi film than it was kind of getting to the roots of what Star Trek was. I think that's where things kind of get tossed to the side is figuring out how do we enjoy a film? that has much more layered thoughts and plot lines and what we're trying to attend to, also something that isn't just ⁓ a straight exposition of the lore of what it is. And I think that's the hard part, is trying to figure out the balance between that, because I'm sure that Steven Soderbergh, he's a good director, could have made something that actually had more layers, especially layers to the character himself, who clearly was layered in the newer trilogy, but It does seem a little disappointing that this didn't get off the ground to see if they could have expanded something because I do feel like Lucasfilm probably at the time of axing it was probably like, hey we're not trying to make people think while they're watching our films, we want them to enjoy lightsabers and fighting and the force kind of idea. Jesus: Yeah, I think that's all great. But I think you can also have, know, there's always a world where you can do both, where it hits on a lot of different levels. It's like easy enough to follow, but there's enough layers, you know, and that's it. And Ben Solo as a character, like you said, he's the most layered character in the new trilogy. He's the son of Han Solo. He's the nephew of Luke Skywalker, who at the time is the, or who is the most powerful person in the galaxy. ⁓ And so he has this very interesting kind of arc of being trying to, you know, trying to Nolan: Yeah. Like we... Luke. Mm-hmm. Jesus: kind of be a ⁓ Tribute or something like that like a big fanboy of his grandfather and what happened to Vader but also wanting to fight everything that he's been taught by Luke and Leia his mother so I think you know there like just him being the main character of that series would be enough layer to where you can make a pretty simple narrative and still have all these layers and unintentional meaning with a lot of things he would be doing in that film because like We as fans would do what you said after like Star Trek people do be like wow, okay Well this interaction actually means that this this this and this is probably going on for Ben Nolan: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Jesus: ⁓ So yeah, I see it, but man I want a world where there's like a possible Oscar nominated Star Wars film sometime. Like that would be sick. Screenplay or something. It is, it is. Yeah, it is. Because that's like the most phenomenal show of all time. ⁓ Nolan: Yeah, I would love for that to happen. mean, and or winning some Emmys is probably the closest we're going to get for a good decade, I think. But yeah, yeah, so yeah. But let us know down in the comments below what you think about the axing of the film, The Hunt for Ben Solo, before it even kind of actually got pen to paper. Maybe it did get pen to paper, but pre-production. Next News Nugget. This one was just kind of a little filler one that I wanted to throw in there. Obviously Bad Bunny had a phenomenal halftime show for the most recent Super Bowl. His name has kind of been jumping around for what he was able to portray during his performance, what it meant for people of Latin heritage and everything surrounding that. seems like they're moving forward with a historical epic called Puerto Rico. ⁓ Do I know what Puerto means instead of Puerto? No I don't. I don't know what the specific reasoning is but I'm assuming that it'll be described in the film. But it is going to be starring alongside Viggo Mortensen, Edward Norton, and Javier Bardem. The film follows the story of Jose Maldonado, or Maldonado Ramon, Roman, who fought against colonialism ⁓ Colonialism. ⁓ my god, I can't read today. Let me restart this. The film follows the story of Jose Maldonado Roman who fought against colonialism by leading a gang of ex-convicts to vindicate Puerto Rico. ⁓ Bad Bunny obviously hasn't really had too many credits to his name acting wise. He's done a couple things here and there. He did the Happy Gilmore 2, which I actually loved his character there. ⁓ He did the small role. of I think the wolf in bullet train. He was supposed to be ⁓ a part of that. He was gonna play a Luchador hero I forgot for Sony right ⁓ But that got axed and now we have him kind of jumping back into it as someone who's gonna be doing another film Do you think that this is a good idea or is this gonna be kind of more? How do I say it? I'm gonna put this big name on the credit so that you go watch my movie. Jesus: I think it's more of probably that, to be honest. It's like, Bad Bunny's hot right now, so let's get him into this and get this rolling while we got some momentum from the Super Bowl. And all that kind of stuff. He's, I should say that, he's hot right now domestically for us. He's been an international star for a very, very long time. Like he's super, super goated, okay? We're just now getting hit to him in the United States because we're kind of musically illiterate outside of our US pop stuff. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm, for years. Jesus: So sorry, sorry. That's just how it is for us in the United States. Bad Bunny has been a top artist for the last couple of years, I'd say, and something like that. But he's been fantastic. So I think this is just one of those, hey, hot right now, fresh off the Super Bowl. A lot of people had a good time. I had a great time watching the Super Bowl. I think he did a fantastic Super Bowl performance. thought that was one of the better ones we've had in recent years, culturally and just like vibes wise, like just good time, fun. was super cool to see all the different choreographers Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: that was going on with like how the stages were moving and all the different scenes he put together ⁓ for that performance. So I think just capitalize off that and it's one of those situations how much money will actually make I don't know but you know Javier Bardem or any of those actors get involved it's gonna be a good time so we'll see how goes. Nolan: Yeah, I agree. I'm definitely looking forward to finding out. It's probably gonna be a couch watch, yeah. But I am intrigued. definitely intrigued by it. I want to see, obviously, Aragorn return to screen, the second iteration of the Hulk. And of course, you know, no country for old men, Javier, but damn. Let us know down in the comments below what you think. Jesus: Probably for me, yeah. Of course. ⁓ Nolan: Um, this one I thought was kind an interesting take. So Marlon Wayans, obviously of the Wayans brothers, has come out recently and said that White Chicks 2 and Don't Be A Menace 2 can happen, but only if Scary Movie 6 is successful. He said he's going to bring back the hits. And I think this is a very responsible way to say it. Cause he and his brother are kinda sticking their neck out by bringing back Scare Movie 6, trying to have it return to what it was during its heyday in a movie comedic climate that is up and down, PC if you will. ⁓ So it's gonna be kinda interesting to see because White Chicks and Don't Be a Menace are two comedic films that were like iconic for when they were released. were, I mean... Jesus: Yeah. They're huge. They're hilarious. ⁓ my god. Yes. Nolan: people still quote white chicks to this day. And don't be amused, maybe it's a little more culturally pocketed, but it was something in at least in my area, because it's kind of mainly based out of like the LA area. It is a huge film and following. How do you feel about him potentially sticking with it if he hears or here not here, but if the box office and the critics and the audience say that scary movie six was a huge success? that he looks to bring back white chicks to and don't be a menace to. Jesus: I think that's perfectly fine. think you could do that with any one of those. If you wouldn't have started with Scary Movie 6, let's say you wanted to start with White Chicks 2, you know what mean? You could have done that as well. But I think that's very reasonable in sound. I we haven't had a scary movie since 5, like so long ago. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: And all of those films are hilarious. obviously, think one and two are probably the funniest ones, but three, four, and five are also still really funny ⁓ from top down. like, by no means did they miss any beats on making... Yeah, no. No. Nolan: Those are movies where you just gotta shut off your brain. Don't look for the deeper meaning, just fuck it. ⁓ Jesus: Like you can put those movies on back to back to back, like just go one through five and you're gonna laugh pretty hard at every single one of the films because it was one of those things where it's like every year or every two years they gather up all the like stuff from pop culture and memes and news and it would be like almost a extended Saturday Night Live skit. So that's why they worked so well. But they just, the box office kind of kept dipping off so they stopped making them. So I think now there's been so much time and so many different things in the horror genre to make fun of and culturally bring in and mention. I'm hoping we get the same level of comedy that isn't pulled back and that we kind of start punching the face of these like PC woke ⁓ people. When it comes to the comedy realm of not being so sensitized to everything. And we kind of get back to that era because I would love to have another super bad come out. know what mean? I would love to have another Tropic Thunder come out, but there's just no world where like, Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: we're gonna get away with those movies now. But maybe Scary Movie 6 and The Wayne's Brothers can kind of figure a way to kind of start throwing that first punch and being like, no, this is funny, it's hilarious, get over yourselves and come watch the movie. Nolan: That is true. Yeah, I agree. ⁓ And clearly they could recreate, not recreate, but they could have a resurgence, renaissance, if you will, of comedy movies that could be coming out. You know, the naked gun one that kind of returned to the dry, weird, one-lining humor ⁓ of its heyday. I thought it was really fun with Liam Neeson. It was a short, quick burner that just got straight to the point. Did it fizzle out a little at the end with the humor? Yeah, but it was nice to kind of have that back on screen where you didn't really have to think about the humor. be worried about how everything else can play out. So I'm hoping Scary Movie 6 is a banger because I love that movie series and I love the two brothers. So I'm excited to see if White Chicks and Don't Be A Menace come back as well. Next news nugget. Walton Goggins. He's going to be replacing Josh Brolin in this new film called Mr. Now, why are you barking? This film. ⁓ It's kind of a doozy, but I love that Walton Goggin is actually kind of getting more acclaim for his acting ability. So the movie follows a man who wakes up covered in blood and realizes his identity as he fights or realizes that he doesn't remember his identity as he fights killers that include his exes and his best friend. ⁓ It is going to be directed by Wade Eastwood, the stunt coordinator for Mission Impossible films and Inception. ⁓ Obviously starring alongside Chloe Grace Moretz. ⁓ What do you think about the synopsis of this film? Jesus: 10 out of 10 as far as a concept goes, that sounds crazy. ⁓ It sounds like a film that can let itself to a lot of really interesting writing choices as well. When the main character doesn't remember anything, how creative can you get in filling in all these different gaps that he's gonna have with all these characters he's gonna interact with. So yeah, I think this sounds like a banger on paper. I can't wait to see how the execution goes. think Grace from Marantz, feel like, I don't know, I think we need more out of her now. I feel like there's a lot of roles she could fill but she's just not been getting the call. So I'm hoping maybe this movie... Nolan: She did a lot of like, I think she tried to jump in too much to the YA genre and it just didn't pan out for her. Like maybe step up a little bit more, you know, into something. Not saying that she wasn't great in her performances, but I do think that there were things that can progress forward. I think her, the lackluster Carrie remake that they did with her probably maybe turned studios off from her, but. Jesus: little bit. Nolan: I think that, I mean she's young, she's got a long career ahead of her. ⁓ But yeah. Jesus: Youngish, right? should be late 20s, I think, because she was like a she was one those kid stars back when she was really coming out earlier. Yeah. So, I mean, I guess what I'm saying, I feel like there's there's superhero roles or there's some kind of like I feel like there's a lot of these roles she's missed just because she made that jump from when she was like a kid actor. Right. And her first couple of big movies and then kind of died down. And then she got into her teen years and tried to like scoot the bed into like, I think probably more mature roles and she was really ready to act in. Nolan: She's probably mid to late 20s, yeah. Mm-hmm. Jesus: You know what mean? Like she didn't quite have the chops to do it. ⁓ Which kind of maybe dialed her back when she got to this part that she's in now. Because I feel like she could have popped in in a lot of different films over the last couple years because she does action well, obviously. She was in, you know, Badass. Yeah, does comedy well. ⁓ So, I mean, she's got chops. I'm just saying. I'm glad to see if maybe this movie will get her kind of book rolling and ready to rumble. it's been, you know, she kind of felt like she was everywhere. And then, poof, she was Nolan: Mm-hmm. She does, yeah. She does comedy well. Jesus: nowhere for a while so yeah exactly or kick ass that's what I was saying not a not badass great movie Nolan: than nowhere. yeah, fingers crossed. Love kickoffs. Yeah, that was a great film. But yeah, let us know down in the comments below what you think of the synopsis of Mr. starring Walton Goggins and Chloe Grace Moritz. Next news nugget. This one's a quick one because we are coming up fast on the final season of The Boys. Carl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher, teases that there will be a lot of major deaths in this film. I mean this season as there should be. ⁓ But going even further he says nobody's safe and this season from episode one you're like wow fatalities right from the get-go. My question is let's take a little wager bet for nothing more than bragging rights. Who bites the dust in episode one? Jesus: As there should be. As there should be. God. Hmm. mother's milk. Nolan: Damn, just straight up. Just like he got a daughter and all that and just like, you're done. Jesus: Yep, I think he's just getting cut, he's just getting waxed. Yep, I think he gets waxed immediately. Nolan: Okay, all right. I am gonna go with I for some reason I got this feeling that Queen Maeve is gonna come back just for this final season and boom episode 1 she did. Jesus: That would be a take. That would be a take. Nolan: just to show that like, you know, powerful, don't matter, you did. I don't know. I just, have a hard time just going for the main five or the main, however many there were. Jesus: I was leaning mother's milk or Frenchie. One of those two are gonna die. Nolan: I don't know if they can do French yet. Not yet. No. No. No. Jesus: ⁓ they can do Frenchie. Yes, like I don't want him to do that character either, but like he's just that he's always that guy that kind of keeps Billy in line a little bit and uh what happens to Billy if that guy dies? It's a very interesting show I think. Nolan: Mon Chaire, no. That's true. ⁓ It's been an interesting show and I'm actually kind of sad that it's ending but you know too much of a good thing Jesus: I want it to be here, but also don't want it to ever come, right? Does anyone get what I'm saying? Nolan: Yeah, I just want the episode or I want season 5 to just go for like hundred episodes in a row. Just keep going. Yeah, yeah. Jesus: hundred years or something yeah so I just have endless content but ⁓ well Nolan: Let us know down below who your desk is, who's biting the dust in episode one of The Boys. This one is a little bit of an interesting one. ⁓ Obviously we know that Thor has returned to Doomsday, or Chris Hemsworth as Thor has returned to Doomsday. ⁓ But he's teased something in a recent podcast where he was interviewed and he was just talking about obviously the MCU and his ⁓ role playing Thor, how he's probably the only actor slash character in that whole universe who has gone through different iterations of who he was, know, obviously the Kenneth Branagh, he did the Russo Brothers one, he also did the Taika Waititi version, some slapstick, some more serious and theatrical, not theatrical, ⁓ despian, and a little bit kind of mixture of depression, you know, I would say for that. ⁓ But he is one of the mainstay OG Avenger characters. Jesus: Mm-hmm. Nolan: And there's obviously been a lot of chatter that who's going to actually die in this next Avengers film or the following one, Secret Wars. But he kind of maybe let something slip, saying that we've got plans and ideas to do something pretty unique again and hopefully different following Avengers. Now. As is always. Is this just misdirection and he is biting the dust or? Are we gonna see maybe one last ride for like Allfather Thor or something for a stand alone film? Jesus: I think they haven't even done like unworthy or all father like you said I think there's still plenty of Thor things on the table Especially like he fight Hades. I mean he could fight Hercules which is alluded to in the last movie they was in so There's plenty of stuff. I think for Thor's character However, I don't know how much Thor is left in Chris Hemsworth I don't know if he's I don't know if this is the only role he this guy ever wants to be known for in his lifetime You know what mean? If so, not a bad career, right? Fantastic Nolan: Mm. Jesus: You found a little niche and you cranked it but I do think a real kind of return to The Dark World style of Thor for his character would be cool to see ⁓ Way more dramatic and epic and all those kinds of things. I like I want to see and feel a real ⁓ Viking adventure drama like I want to see like Chris Hemsworth push that character as far as it can go And I don't think we've quite gotten there yet doomsday is making Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: it look like, maybe if that's the vibe we can get in the next Thor film that might bring a lot more people back towards epic and it's, you know, it's serious but still has some clips here and there but you know, it is the MCU but I think it's, there's still a world where we can make a Percy Jackson-esque type of crazy Norse mythology film for Thor and really lean into these crazy fantasy elements that his universe invites, you know what mean? So yeah, I think he's just trying to tease a little bit, get people excited for the movie. ⁓ I don't think it's out of the question that maybe they are cooking something for him right now, because again, he didn't even know he was supposed to be in Doomsday. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: until the theater has released that little teaser when he went to the premiere. Which now, if you're like, well, if I'm on the hook, I'm on the hook. I might as well make some good stuff, yeah, until you're 100. So we'll see how it goes, Nolan: You got me. right on. Let us know down in comments below if you think that this is all for nothing or if this is pretty true to his word that they do actually have some plans going around. The next thing that we're going to go over is the final news nugget for today. Spider-Man Brand New Day. They recently said that there was a synopsis that this film is going to take place four years after the events of No Way Home. So a couple things that means. One is that this kind of insinuates that they're probably in the year 2028. ⁓ But this also means that he's, you know, if he's, he's an intelligent kid, so I'm assuming he's in his last year of college, or just finishing. ⁓ He has been without his friends and girlfriend a part of his life, or at least for the main part of his life for these past four years, which means that each character has probably gone on to find new friends and new love interests, which is going to add another layer of ⁓ plot detail to him in this film. ⁓ Jill, I just want to get your thoughts on them kind of announcing that this is going to be pushed forward four years from the last one. Jesus: I like the jump because I think as a lot of us theorize, this is basically kind of like a soft reboot to the Holland Spider-Man going back to more of the Sony led studio, right? ⁓ I think that's a very smart move. It adds a lot of really interesting questions to his character that can, they don't have to be explored, but they can be acknowledged that maybe Peter is dealing with that a little bit, right? Because we wanna make room for all the new stuff. We can't just keep looking over our shoulder back at the MCU. We need to kind of move forward the new Sony era with Tom Holland stuff and let them cook ⁓ as they've been known to do. Like yes they have Spider-Man 3, yes they I I liked the Amazing Spider-Man 2. I know people had issues with it ⁓ but at the end of the day they still have the Spider-Verse trilogy. They gave us Spider-Man 1 2 from Toby Maguire. They gave us the Amazing Spider-Man. Yes we do. It's in the bag. It's in the can. June 18th, 2027 by the way. Mark your calendars. We'll be there. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Do we have the Spider-Verse trilogy yet? Do we? Do we? Do we? Do we? You Jesus: So yeah, it's it's it's one of those things where like they know how to do spider-man films and then like the whole process of him going back to sony and it possibly being worse is like In like in my mind not fathomable because they they know how to handle this property because it's the one that makes them money They don't really try to mess it up unless they really get crazy ⁓ but that being said I'm very excited that they decided to do the time jump because now we're getting we're getting older we're getting college peter because when he left he was 18 or 19 years old, four years, now he's 22, like you said, at the end of his college days or all that kind of stuff. I will say I hope we're not like completely skipping over College Peter, you know what saying? Like I'm hoping maybe it's like, you know, he's either in his last year or junior year of college, something like that, to where we can kind of get that ball rolling because I think those stories are some of the most fun from his comic lore. That's where like Hobgoblin comes in, Black Hat, ⁓ Silver Sable, like all these other kinds of villains that were more of a mature ⁓ version of those villains to fight and they challenged Peter a lot. I think Craven's Last Hunt is during that era, like we used like full adult Spider-Man, that kind of thing. ⁓ So there's a lot of these really interesting, cooler stories that got developed ⁓ once we got to college with Peter. ⁓ If you've never read Spider-Man Blue, I would definitely, definitely check that out because it died a deep, delves into like Gwen Stacy and all that kind of stuff too, which I'm hoping. You know, odds are probably not, but I'm hoping that maybe we get a like allusion to a Gwen for Tom Holland. I think that would be cool. I think that would be very cool. I know it's kind of it's kind of like, you know, he's had an MJ, but it would make I think it would make that interaction with Andrew's Spider-Man a little bit more interesting if on a rewatch, if they give Tom Holland a Gwen as well and then really layer these actors that way to do that. Nolan: I'd be a diggin' a little love trial, know what mean? Jesus: you Yeah, or if they want to go traditional and introduce like a more stock standard Mary Jane, I get it I mean, I wouldn't be mad at it, but I kind of want to move off the MJ trend That's why I love that's why I liked Andrew's ⁓ Spider-man films so much because we we went to Gwen Stacy ⁓ There's a lot of really interesting story stuff with Gwen ⁓ outside of you not the spider-win stuff That's different. But the actual Gwen Stacy character herself in the comics is like there's a lot Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: of interesting stuff that happens with Peter in that relationship and how it affects Harry and ⁓ MJ who are all friends by the way ⁓ and all those kinds of things so that is ⁓ that is one that I would like to see happen for for Tom Holland but yeah we'll see and also wouldn't that mean I think timeline wise and wouldn't that mean that doomsday is basically in 2028 as well right because isn't this supposed to like go right Nolan: Absolutely. But we'll find out. Jesus: into Doomsday. So this movie is four years from then. Nolan: Yes, technically. Jesus: and it goes right into Doomsday where it's supposed to tie in. Nolan: I wonder though because remember this was originally supposed to be placed in between the Avengers movies. Jesus: Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe not. I don't know. Here's me thinking. Nolan: You're kinda fuckin' it up, Kevin Feige, with the timelines and shit, because you decided to dust everybody for five years. ⁓ Jesus: I mean, I love it for this movie. That's what I'm saying. I just had questions on, well, then is the whole timeline in 2028 here for that? Or are we going to go back and this movie is just kind of outside of that, but you just couldn't get the releases to line up kind of thing. I think that that would make sense, right? Like if we're just going to pull him out of that real quick. But. Nolan: Yeah, continuity of it. Yeah. That is true. That is true. I mean, yeah, I got no fucking idea. Don't ask me. Don't ask us. We're not in the studio with them. I would love to tell you guys a clear answer. But yeah, let us know down in the comments below what you think about them jumping four years into Tom Holland's Spider-Man's career and his lonesome as he traverses the world. ⁓ That'll do it for our news nuggets the first trailer that we got today now the reason I only the only reason I added this is because as we discussed in the very beginning of this ⁓ segment of post credits there have been a lot of passing away of great actors recently ⁓ and James van der Beek is starring in what I believe is his last role ⁓ for the gates Jesus: I was going to ask, is this probably, was this for sure one of the last ones that he had kind of in the bag, in the bucket? Nolan: It had to have been I think because I think he got to a point where he was He was not well enough to like even stand for long amounts of time So I'd have to assume that this is probably closer to the the end point and I wouldn't be surprised if him doing this film was kind of like a how Bruce Willis kind of just Put out a lot of B movies very quickly so that he could gain money for his family and stuff ⁓ But nonetheless The movie is The Gates, stars three young actors who ⁓ are trying to make a trip somewhere and of course there's a road closure but the GPS says that there's another way that they can go if they cut down this side road. How all thriller horror movies start. It has them arrive at a gated community. someone lets them in, only to find out that they weren't supposed to be there. James Vanderbeek plays the community's pastor, which turns out to be kind of like a cult. Very Jonestown-ish, if you feel me on that one. And of course, it's just kind of them trying to escape this town and how they can kind of get back on the road, if you know what I mean. But Jalen, what did you think of this trailer? And potentially the last on screen role for James Vanderbeek. Jesus: I mean it looked interesting, it looked great. Again, I think the main three actors probably aren't gonna bring a ton to the table just off the trailer. But I mean James Vanderbeek in Villain Rule's always a fan. Always a fan. I think that's one of those gems that he kind of figured out later into his career that he can do really, really well. Just makes a good bad guy, man. don't know what it like, you know, Varsity Blues he was clearly the protagonist, but man, does he make, he makes a really good bad guy. Yep. Nolan: You He does. I just rewatched that with Nicole because he passed away. Great film. Great film. Jesus: great film. 10 out of 10. It's a cool classic, man. You can't go wrong with some varsity blues, ⁓ But yeah, think my thing with this film is probably gonna be these three main leads because they are pretty much babyface brand new to Hollywood. I haven't seen them really in anything before. Nolan: One of them has been in the Scream franchise. I think. Have you been keeping up with the Bad Boys sequels? Jesus: Okay. I have watched the last few Bad Boys films, yes, the most recent one I did watch. So, I didn't recognize anybody from there. Nolan: Okay, so I believe one of the guy, I think that's Reggie, the the son-in-law of Martin Lawrence, the one who like goes, like protects the whole family in the house and just do do do. Yeah. Yeah. Jesus: That might have been Reggie that might have been Reggie, okay, but even so so still not like a huge You know still a list star or anything like that or young talent right that we're getting in this film ⁓ like a Luca from Stranger Things the being the lead in this probably would Nolan: Yeah. Yeah. Jesus: catapult it, right? So that's probably the main thing that I think will hold this film back, depending on how it goes. Obviously, being in Bad Boys, you're going to learn some things. But I don't think that's enough to where this film's just going to jump and be fantastic. But James Van Der Beek looked menacing, as he always does when he plays a villain. So that part I know will probably be good. I'll be interested to see how obviously everything plays out. But we shall see. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Absolutely. Releasing March 13th. I don't know if this is going to be straight to streaming though. Let me double check. Let me see if it says. It looks like it might be. We'll find out sooner or later. Either way, ⁓ I'm interested in this film. Definitely a couch watch, but I am just I'll probably watch it just out of respect for James Van Der But let us know what you thought about this trailer. Next trailer review that we're doing. Now, the only reason I am very excited for this one is because Jason Segel is returning to the big screen, you know what mean? Over Your Dead Body, which stars Jason Segel and Samara Weaving, the film follows a couple who go to a secluded cabin not knowing that they are both secretly planning to kill each other. This one's coming to theaters April 24th. ⁓ It's given off a lot of Tucker... Jesus: You Nolan: or Dale and Tucker vs. Evil vibes where it's kind of a thriller but but it has the comedic backtones of it. ⁓ I absolutely love the trailer where they're just at the table and he's tied up and he's trying to like, ⁓ I can fit crying in front of the cops better than you can and they just kind of go back and forth about it. Jesus: Yeah, kinda. That part was hilarious. I love that part of the trailer. That was so good. Nolan: We have Timothy Ollifant also in this film. This film looks like it's going to be very, it's obviously from IFC, so an independent film. So nothing big budgeted, obviously, as you can see from the trailer. But I do have a lot of interest in seeing this movie. I don't know if I'll shell out the money to go see it in theaters. But Jalen, let me know your thoughts on this trailer. Jesus: Oh, it's a fantastic trailer. I thought this leaned into more of like a it's almost a mr. And mrs. Smith situation, but less CIA like it's just kind of that's how I That's what I felt because like that didn't get really more like the horror parts of it It's just gonna be like literally they're just gonna Nolan: Okay, nevermind, I dig that, I dig that. Sorry, yeah, I didn't mean the horror, but I mean more of it's there was a serious back tone, but the comedy bleeds into it kind of thing. Jesus: I think there's more comedy than what the trailer is leading on. I really do. I think Jason Segel doesn't do this movie if it's super. I mean, he's got some dramatic roles that he's really good in, don't get me wrong, where he's not funny and you're kind of like, ⁓ okay, well, why are you? no. Nolan: It's Jason Segel, come on. Well good for you. Jesus: Comedy actors man, I you, fantastic dramatic actors for whatever reason. ⁓ But that being said, I think there's way more comedy in the movie, at least from the trailer that it's leading on to me because the sections they let show of some of the bigger, the better punchlines, which I'm hoping are not all in the trailer, were really, really funny. So I'm anticipating it to be a lot more dark humor and dark comedy kind of stuff with very dramatic tones of how all this is gonna unfold with them trying to kill each other. Which is, I think just as a base is hilarious in itself. So... Yeah, I liked the trailer a lot. Yeah, probably don't do that guys. If you wanna... Let's leave. Get out. Nolan: Don't kill your loved ones, people. If you're unhappy, just leave. Let's just be very clear here. Yeah, yeah, but let us know what you thought of this trailer. I thought it was very fun. Let us know in comments below. Jalen, I'm gonna let you take this one away. ⁓ House of the Dragon, season three. Now, we're back in it. Jesus: Dear God. Oh, yes, we are, because there is going to be violence. There's like, like with the way season two ended, basically this set up season three to be all out Mad Queen. I am here for it. She is completely right in everything she is doing. Take what is yours, Queen. Go for it. Yes. Dracarys everywhere. Nolan: Jaylen, what do you have to say about this trailer? you Jesus: I can't wait. think I'm more interested to see what Damien does when... I shouldn't say what he does. I like seeing how he's slowly kind of poking and turning her into the Mad Queen that she eventually needs to become. and just kind of stoking the fire of being like, no bro, you're the queen, go do this shit, go send the dragons and just burn everything to the ground because you can. Also, her friend kind of, well ⁓ ex-friend I should say, kind of deserved literally everything that happened because I don't even feel guilty that her son died. I don't, at all. He was kind of a dick, so there you go. Yeah, I don't feel guilty. ⁓ So there's that. Nolan: Yeah, yeah. use a hoe, you know? Jesus: But on the other end, I do think... There is going to be a lot of ramifications for Reniurus' actions from season two, probably within the first three episodes, because I don't think they got addressed a ton in season two. There was just kind of like, she did a lot of that stuff. And now we're going to see probably the first half of the season, would assume, is ramifications, plot point to kind of get a bridge over, and then finale into, or sorry, like last two or three episodes just all out, war, war, war. And it just kind of escalates from there leading into season four, I would hope. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: I don't know how long they can go though before they start. ⁓ wait no they can go forever. I lied. It's like a hundred something years before Game of Thrones so they're fine. Nolan: I hope. mean, I'm wondering... So, I mean, Night of the Seven Kingdoms is sixty years post this, think. Sixty something years post this. ⁓ So there is gonna be some sort of cut off, cause I know that at least in the Night of the Seven Kingdoms there is a Targaryen who kind of does his little spiel like, we used to be the dragon masters, now where are all the dragons? And I was like, okay, so there's... Yeah. Jesus: Well, the series is going to end with the Targaryens losing their dragons. Rhaenyra, she will lose at some point. Like, that is how the show is going to end. I just don't think it's this season, clearly. I think it's, this is the All Out War. People are going to see... the mad queen become the mad queen and then somehow they're gonna have to stop her. this should be the season where we walk away being like, damn, she is the villain of the story. And now we're kind of gonna turn against her as an audience and be like, okay, maybe she's gone a bit too crazy. We need someone to be a hero and like can help us out a little bit with this crazy queen that we got going on. So that's how I at least would see this season going, but yeah. Nolan: We need a hit. Right on. Well, let us know in the comments below how excited you are for season three of House of the Dragon coming to HBO, I believe, releasing in June. So it's it'll be here before you know it. Next trailer review we got Jalen. Toy Story five, they got a full fledged, full detailed trailer. Obviously, at the end of Toy Story four, Woody left his gang to go off and help. lost toys, guess is the best way to put it. And Bonnie, who is with ⁓ Jesse and Buzz and all the old gang still, of course, gets a gift in the mail. And that gift is a tablet. And the tablet in the trailer already shows its effects and what it does to the youth's mind. ⁓ And they have the interactions between Buzz and the group versus the tablet. And then Woody ⁓ decides to come back in order to help because there's so much more abandoned toys now because of technology. And it kind of goes into this whole thing of where they were before, the competitiveness between him and Buzz, ⁓ I love the little kind of joke that they... jab at woody where the paint on his head is starting to fade so it's the bald spot now cause obviously they're older. ⁓ But Jalen I'm gonna roll this over to you. What did you think of the Toy Story 5 trailer? Do you think that this is gonna exceed the... I'm not gonna say exceed number 3 cause to me number 3 was the best. But will it kind of surpass at least Toy Story 4? Jesus: I mean, I could, I could see it. I could see it, but that's still a high bar, man. Again, it's always hard to kind of come back and beat movies that were so impactful, especially to me. I think everything ended in three. I don't think we needed four ever, in my personal opinion. But now that we have four, it's kind of hard to top three. I think that's always going to be your comparison. So will five be better than three or four? Don't know. I think it just depends on where they really take Woody and Buzz from here, like the main character of that and how much Andy impacts that decision. But we'll see, We'll see. Should be a good one. It'll make money. I'll tell you that. Nolan: Yeah, I'm in agreement. We'll see. Yeah. ⁓ yeah, I don't know, like Toy Story 5, I feel like I want to be more excited for this film. I definitely liked the trailer. I'm not going to say that it didn't get me a little more interested, but it's just, it's just at that point where I don't know if I want to continue watching this. Like, why do you keep wanting to draw us back into this well, even though it's a great well, I just, yeah, I'm, I'm going to have my fingers crossed for it, but Jesus: Mm-hmm. Nolan: Let us know in the comments below what you thought of the Toy Story 5 trailer return of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Kuszak for the gang ⁓ and their fight against technology which is slowly taking over the world in real time. The last trailer review we got, Jalen, The Mandalorian Grogu. The Mandalorian Grogu Season 3.5 if you will. ⁓ It's it is what it is. It is what it is. But ⁓ I would be lying to you if I didn't say that the trailer got me intrigued. It got me excited to actually see this a little bit more and more. ⁓ We actually have Pedro Pascal on screen, which means something's going on. ⁓ We have Grogu, who seems to be a little bit more comfortable with the force and still a child. We have Jesus: pretty much the way it is. I everything from Luke and it's it's it's more prominent he's he's become more comfortable since getting a little bit of that training with Luke and all that kind of stuff again my problem is that it feels like we've Tried to cater this movie to an audience that didn't care to watch the show and just showing Pedro's cat Pascal's face in the trailer to me is a bit of a red flag But all the other parts do look interesting There's some Clone Wars and rebels characters obviously popping in because it's Dave Filoni and John Nolan: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: Favreau of course, ⁓ Zeb from Rebels is in there. ⁓ Should be a fun character. He's also in a lot of like video games and stuff but again, me, we spent a whole season, yeah and then well Zeb is the other one with the four hands or whatever but so we spent a whole plot season and Nolan: And what's his, is it Embo, is that his name? ⁓ gotcha. Jesus: discussing the ramifications of him taking off his helmet one time to save Grogu at the end of season one. But now we're just doing it in the trailer willy nilly. So like, we like, like, what is the, what is the deal there? Why can't we just honor things that we've Nolan: Yep, and now he's getting it removed. And he they made it a huge point to like he had to go through a very, yeah, the whole strict task in order to be kind of welcomed back into like, as a Mandalorian. And now just on the just like a Jesus: That was the whole arc of season two. Nolan: Fuck it, let me just take his helmet off because Pedro's here. Yeah. I do agree with you on that. Like it seems like this trailer and this movie is being catered to a specific audience that is not Star Wars fans. You're catering to the fact that you have a cutesy little baby Yoda and you have Pedro Pascal on screen in a film for something that could have just been released on Disney Plus. and could have focused a lot more studio time and money and marketing towards an actual Star Wars lore film, whether it's the Old Republic or whether you want to move forward in the future with a trilogy, because this is the first film we've had in upwards, close to a decade now. ⁓ And it's not even I'm not going to say original, but it's not a film that is crafted to be a big screen. Plot. It's something that definitely could have been. Jesus: This is, I'm worried this is gonna feel like just an extended episode. Nolan: It is going to be an extent. There's no way around that. There's no other way to phrase this. Like as you look at it as each season had some maybe some reoccurring characters, but each thing had its own little arc. And now you're going to say that we're going to put these two on screen together because I don't think anyone in the world, unless you were the ages of five to 10, needed to see these characters on a big screen. ⁓ Jesus: You know what mean. Nolan: Now we're sitting here talking shit about it. This film very well could be very successful. I could go to the theater and watch it and be enthralled and love it and say you know what this is the best Star Wars movie I've seen in a long time but I'm just not digging the whole idea of it and I'm you know this is going to be the last kind of ⁓ second to last sorry second to last movie of the Kathleen Kennedy era where we have Starfighter coming out next year. So I'm excited for that as well. But all things being said, we got some cool looking bounty hunters. We got Roto the Hut looking jacked, but also still fat because he's a hut. So I'm intrigued to see how Jeremy Ellen White sounds in this film. We got some, what's it called? new spaceships that are coming into it. got whole things with him flying in a carriage next to, ⁓ to Pedro Pascal, Jalen are there. Yeah. Yeah. They're just like, like just put some NOS in it and say, because he has family. I know. Yeah. That was destroyed. Jesus: It looks like we updated the baby cart for Grog. It's just pretty rad. It's like, ⁓ we just got upgrades like that. OK. Somehow the razor crest has returned. It's a good old meme if you guys are you know, That was definitely destroyed and like it's like half the plot of season three before it turned into You know that he found the naboo fighter and then that was supposed to be his Anyway, whatever but other than that Nolan: I'm be really disappointed if we find out that this is like somehow like a in-between season movie where it was like ⁓ yeah this is not actually a sequel to season 3 so we can still do season 4 this is actually letting you know what their adventures were prior to season you know yeah Jesus: Mm-hmm. very upset with that. I also would like to see, hopefully, Zan pop in at some point. Because I thought this was supposed to be leading all up to the, it's the villain from Ahsoka, the blue face guy. ⁓ So like, ⁓ I thought the original idea, Nolan: Yeah, I think we all will. Explain who that is? Gotcha, gotcha, okay. Wait, Zan or Thrawn? ⁓ yeah. Jesus: Thrawn, whatever. ⁓ But originally I thought the idea was supposed to be like, they were supposed to be building all these universes to kind of like do an Avengers-like type of movie. So like, we still haven't seen them interact with Ahsoka outside of a small little snippet of the show. And I feel like at this point Thrawn should be... pretty much established enough from Ahsoka to be able to have that pop in and start kind of threading him as the Thanos of this kind of cinematic world they might be trying to make with all these types of shows. John Favreau being in Marvel for so long, feel like would have that forethought. Nolan: Yeah, I have faith in Jon Favre. Yeah, let's put that out in the air. Like, we're talking shit about this film and it's necessity. Yeah. Yes, yes, exactly. Exactly. Jesus: We're just addressing concerns. I'm still excited. I'm still going to see the movie. I'm going to enjoy it. I'm going have a good time. But at the same time, as a fan, I do have concerns on why we're just showing his face immediately. And are there going to be ramifications for that? Is he just not a Mandalorian after this movie? And we're just a bounty hunter now? What's the deal? What's happening? Nolan: Also, I don't really like the font of the Mandalorian Grogu. I don't know if it's a nitpick. just... No, I meant the font itself. Like, I don't mind the poster, the font. It just feels... It doesn't feel Star Wars-y. It just feels like it's like old time adventure film. The Adventures of Cowboy. Jesus: mind the poster? I think the poster looks fine. I think it's great. I say this is what I want though. I just want the Star Wars above and then I want all these different things to feel like their own stuff. Like we can get away, like we are, the Skywalker story, it needs to just die. It just needs to fucking die. I want. Nolan: It's beaten to the ground already. Jesus: this exact thing all the time for a lot of the Star Wars properties. Like Star Wars and there's Andor. And then we've got Star Wars, Mandalorian, and Grogu. Because then we know the universe it's in, we know what the story is that's gonna be told in that Star Wars universe, because that is the thing that George gave us. Yes, he also gave us the Skywalkers, but he gave us a whole world of things and stories and places with witches and magic and adventures and space. Nolan: He gave us a whole galaxy guys, a whole galaxy. Jesus: So many cool things to explore and we just have just been just magnetized Gorilla glued to the skywalkers for decades. I'm tired of it There's so many cooler things and I love that I love what and or did with kind of bringing back the politics of Star Wars and getting into that kind of Espionage and thriller ask vibes of it ⁓ Mandalorian and kind of started off getting us a little bit into the underworld the criminal stuff the smugglers the spice trader or the you know spice traders, but the you know All those kind of drug dealers and all that kind of nasty stuff But we didn't really get to full dive into it because it turned more action adventure space drama Towards the end once the Mandalorians got involved and then we took on the Empire and all this forced stuff with the Grogu and Luke and whatever ⁓ And Kenobi, feel like, unironically, kind of gave us a look into what a Blade Runner-esque type of vibe could be when he goes to try to get Leia off the main planet of, I think it's not Naboo, but there's a city that he's in in episode two or three that could kind of give you that Neo-Gothic, there's a lane for that movie to exist in Star Wars as well with a bounty hunter. So again, range is infinite. I love how this looks. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: Can't wait to see the movie, but we'll see how it goes. I mean we just we just want to we're just talking about concerns We're still fans of the movie. We're still fans of the property. You know we're gonna go see it. We're gonna see it Nolan: We're still fans, we're gonna see it. We're gonna see it. We're not, this is not a film where it's gonna be debatable for couch watch or movie theater. I'm gonna go to theater to see this, cause it's Star Wars. Yeah. Yeah. Jesus: But those are things that we wanna, you know, like, hey, can you make it not feel like just an extended episode and then address these things and make it interesting for me to make sense, you know? Make it make sense. That's it. Nolan: Sorry. But that's it. Yeah, that'll do it for our reviews today. Definitely a lot of information that we went through today, but it was necessary. ⁓ once ⁓ we, or once I finish the, what's it called? ⁓ Why am I drawing a blank? ⁓ Nine of the Seven Kingdoms. I would love to kind of hop back in here with you if you get a chance to watch it. is. Jesus: view. It was. I'll get I'll get Benjen, I'll get Benjen on it. Nolan: I Sunday is episode 6 and it's only a 6 episode release. Pretty much all 30 minutes each you can binge it in like an afternoon. ⁓ Episode 5 just released, we'll kind of get into everything that goes around with it when it finally comes through. ⁓ that'll do it for us here on this little segment of post credits. Thank you guys for making us a part of your day. We enjoyed having you be a part of ours. From all of us here at Poinsettia, good vibes and love. Jesus: Hell yeah. Well done. deuces.
