- 1:13Speaker 2: Yeah, because you'll miss out on a little bit of information.
- 1:15Speaker 1: You'll miss out on a lot of info. This isn't
- 1:17Speaker 1: an info heavy case.
- 1:18Speaker 2: And honestly, like, okay, part one for the record, well
- 1:21Speaker 2: done on that. I'm on the been on the edge
- 1:24Speaker 2: of my seat. This is a fucking crazy case.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I'll do it time. I'm doing the tiniest of recaps. Okay,

- 1:36Speaker 2: and foremost, can we thank our patrons.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I actually have to say one thing first, Sure, what's that?
- 1:41Speaker 1: I literally thought that I ended episode one in a
- 1:44Speaker 1: very kind spot, but I got slack for it, flacky, mean, flack,
- 1:49Speaker 1: slack whatever, flat. So I apologize, but I've literally thought
- 1:52Speaker 1: I was being kind.
- 1:53Speaker 2: No, I even told you in the episode like that
- 1:55Speaker 2: was that was a cliffhanger.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I didn't think it was at all.
- 1:58Speaker 2: It was.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Well anyway, my apologies, but the way it's over, so
- 2:02Speaker 1: there you go.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Here it is. But I do want to send a
- 2:05Speaker 2: special thank you to Dwayne aka Wayne Dreary, who is
- 2:09Speaker 2: our patron who signed up for us this week.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Amazing. Thank you so much, Wayne, Thank you, Thank you.
- 2:15Speaker 2: To all our patrons, and even if you're not a patron,
- 2:17Speaker 2: thank you so much for being here and listening. That
- 2:18Speaker 2: means the world to us.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you so much. Awesome.
- 2:23Speaker 2: We have some news.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Though, finally, the long awaited.
- 2:26Speaker 2: News before we get in long waited.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Oh shoot, I thought that's where we're going. You have
- 2:31Speaker 1: something else.
- 2:32Speaker 2: We're not posting an episode next week, is it?
- 2:37Speaker 1: No, we are next week.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Okay, well you're the one going on vacation, so you
- 2:40Speaker 2: need to tell me when that is, because clearly I
- 2:42Speaker 2: don't know when you're leaving.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Yeah, Bett, Ben, we'll be posting an episode next week,
- 2:47Speaker 1: but then the week after I'm on VAK. So we're
- 2:51Speaker 1: thinking we're just going to throw out a Q and
- 2:54Speaker 1: a episode of sorts, something that doesn't take quite as long,
- 2:57Speaker 1: but still putting something out there where you guys can
- 2:59Speaker 1: ask us questions and get us to get to know
- 3:01Speaker 1: us a little bit better and such.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah, so that'll be over on social media where we
- 3:05Speaker 2: get a lot of the questions and everything. So if
- 3:06Speaker 2: you want to ask some questions, something's been burning in
- 3:09Speaker 2: your mind, you want to hear from.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Us, let us know, and yeah, we'll do a post
- 3:12Speaker 1: and such. But yeah, that won't be until August fifteen.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Okay, so coming down the pipe, we have one week
- 3:18Speaker 2: we're going to be taking.
- 3:19Speaker 1: A Sorry there we go, got the wrong day.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Okay, but now what Nicole was talking about? The long
- 3:25Speaker 2: awaited thing thing thing, the Wicked Box. Yes, we have
- 3:34Speaker 2: this big old wicked box that we've put together a
- 3:36Speaker 2: bunch of cool.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Stuff, very cool stuff, and.
- 3:39Speaker 2: We're going to post on our social media pictures of
- 3:42Speaker 2: what is actually contained in this wicked box. You can
- 3:45Speaker 2: get a peek at it if you head over to
- 3:48Speaker 2: our website on the left hand side, or if you're
- 3:50Speaker 2: scrolling on the phone, it'll be right down smack in
- 3:53Speaker 2: the middle. There's a peculiar button that popped.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Up with just randomly popped up.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's weird. Three the three questions.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, wow.
- 4:02Speaker 2: So if you click on that, it's going to take
- 4:04Speaker 2: you to a password protected page. You can't see it
- 4:09Speaker 2: unless you have the password. What that password might be, Well,
- 4:13Speaker 2: that's kind of up for you guys to figure out. However,
- 4:17Speaker 2: there is a little bit of a hint. All you
- 4:19Speaker 2: need to do is take a look at our exclusive
- 4:23Speaker 2: merch design, the one where the only way you can
- 4:26Speaker 2: obtain it is if you win it through giveaways with us.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Take a look at that design and pretty sure you'll
- 4:33Speaker 2: be able to figure out the password pretty quick.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Yeah. And this is like an in
- 4:37Speaker 1: parts series, right, So it's like, I mean, not some
- 4:41Speaker 1: people maybe they're on vacation or something and they can't
- 4:44Speaker 1: do all the steps, like instantly. Yeah, so it's kind
- 4:47Speaker 1: of going in stages.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Exactly, so it's stage stage by stage by stage. There
- 4:50Speaker 2: is time for everyone to participate at their own leisure,
- 4:54Speaker 2: which I love so but when it does come down
- 4:56Speaker 2: to it, there will be only one person to get
- 4:59Speaker 2: the Wicket box.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and in that Wicked Box does contain the number
- 5:04Speaker 1: one mug. Yes, that will be so soon.
- 5:07Speaker 2: We had handcrafted artisan stay Wicked mugs.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Pottery mugs that we're black and beautiful.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I'm actually drinking tea out of one right now because
- 5:16Speaker 2: we kept one. But we had some made up and
- 5:19Speaker 2: they're all numbered one out of thirty is coming in
- 5:22Speaker 2: that Wicked box along with other stuff.
- 5:24Speaker 1: But you'll number one. Yeah, number one is number one
- 5:27Speaker 1: out of thirty. Yeah, they're so awesome. That looks so good.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I'm so excited.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I'd go as far as saying they're wicked. So yeah,
- 5:36Speaker 2: the Wicked Box giveaway, it's officially happening. If you want
- 5:39Speaker 2: to go see if you can figure out that password.
- 5:42Speaker 2: That's the only way you'll be able to move on
- 5:43Speaker 2: to the next stage. Unfortunately, so the information to find
- 5:47Speaker 2: that go look at our exclusive design. You can find
- 5:50Speaker 2: it at our social media and stuff. You know it's
- 5:51Speaker 2: been posted. Go digging around, see what you can find.
- 5:54Speaker 1: This is going to be fun. Yeah, it's gonna be fun.
- 5:57Speaker 2: What else we got? Is that it?
- 6:02Speaker 1: I think so?
- 6:03Speaker 2: You think so?
- 6:03Speaker 1: I think so? Yeah? Okay, well I guess we should
- 6:06Speaker 1: just say once this Wicked Box giveaway is done, then
- 6:10Speaker 1: we will probably be putting up the other.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Mugs for purchase, right, yes, yes, okay, so they won't
- 6:15Speaker 2: be going up for sale until this giveaway is complete.
- 6:19Speaker 1: So that will be coming down the line too. So
- 6:21Speaker 1: that's exciting. We have a lot of things. Oh are
- 6:24Speaker 1: we announcing our other big.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Thing or no, what's another big thing?
- 6:28Speaker 1: Our big download announcement? Oh yeah, sure, are we allowed
- 6:33Speaker 1: to or are you saving that for something? Well?
- 6:34Speaker 2: I mean I was thinking of doing the real first,
- 6:36Speaker 2: but you know what, fuck it, let's just.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Let okay, Well, we're going to be doing a blog
- 6:39Speaker 1: and a reel about it. But we just hit half
- 6:42Speaker 1: a well not just like a week or two ago.
- 6:44Speaker 1: We hit half a million downloads, half.
- 6:47Speaker 2: A million times.
- 6:49Speaker 1: That is so wild, like, oh my gosh, thousand times.
- 6:53Speaker 1: It makes me feel like I could pee my pants.
- 6:55Speaker 1: It's so exciting.
- 6:56Speaker 2: We're actually by the time we realized it. We looked
- 6:59Speaker 2: up our analys because we our analytic analytics are actually
- 7:02Speaker 2: split a little bit because we were on another hosting
- 7:05Speaker 2: platform before, so we take our analytics from that and
- 7:07Speaker 2: add it up to our currently current ones. So we
- 7:10Speaker 2: had to add them. Actually look at the number a
- 7:11Speaker 2: little bit deeper. But we are currently at about five
- 7:14Speaker 2: hundred and fifteen thousand downloads right now, so we missed
- 7:17Speaker 2: it a little bit.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Yeah. But but honestly, like, just thank you, I just
- 7:22Speaker 1: feel like that's just a dream and not even in
- 7:25Speaker 1: my wild this dreams what I have thought that we
- 7:27Speaker 1: would had that many so far. So honestly, thank you
- 7:29Speaker 1: so much for all the sport, kindness and just everything.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys have been amazing to us. So that's
- 7:35Speaker 2: what we try and give back a little bit with
- 7:37Speaker 2: things like this Wicked Boss.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Yeah, a little giveaway.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah, So without further ado, should we get into part two?
- 7:44Speaker 2: Oh that rhymed?
- 7:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Further a dude? Should we get into part two?
- 7:50Speaker 1: This is going off to a good start.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Is that what you call a good start?
- 7:54Speaker 1: I'd say? So? Okay, So to do a slight recap,
- 7:57Speaker 1: we left off part one with twelve year old, Jasmine's
- 8:02Speaker 1: relationship with her parents steadily declining right Her relationship with
- 8:07Speaker 1: her twenty three year old boyfriend Jeremy was, however, flourishing.
- 8:12Speaker 1: On March twentieth, two thousand and six, Jasmine wrote to
- 8:15Speaker 1: Jeremy stating that she had a plan, a plan which
- 8:18Speaker 1: begins with her killing her parents and ends with them
- 8:21Speaker 1: living together. Jeremy loved this plan. Jacob's neighbor friend Gareth,
- 8:27Speaker 1: would make a gruesome discovery on April twenty third, two
- 8:31Speaker 1: thousand and six, of the bodies of the Richardsons, Deborah, Mark,
- 8:36Speaker 1: and Jacob. So we're going to dive into the events
- 8:41Speaker 1: that led to Gare's gruesome discovery.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Huh. I'm not ready for this, but let's do it.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I'm never ready for this, honestly, Okay. I feel like
- 8:49Speaker 1: this is actually probably the most time I've ever spent
- 8:52Speaker 1: on a case because the book spent a lot of time.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Was amazing. So I definitely recommend reading the book. We'll
- 9:00Speaker 1: have it in the notes. And I don't know, it
- 9:03Speaker 1: was just like I just needed to learn almost everything
- 9:06Speaker 1: about it because it's terrible. It really actually bothered me
- 9:09Speaker 1: this case. But that's okay.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Well, and rightfully, So.
- 9:12Speaker 1: It's very bothersome case. So Jeremy was becoming more infuriated
- 9:18Speaker 1: with Jasmine's parents telling friends they were locking her up,
- 9:22Speaker 1: yet the two of them continued to keep in touch.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Jasmine would softly creep out of her bedroom as late
- 9:29Speaker 1: as one in the morning and use the basement phone
- 9:32Speaker 1: to have whispered conversations with Jeremy, sometimes for hours into
- 9:36Speaker 1: the night. They'd fansize about escaping to a castle in Europe,
- 9:42Speaker 1: their castle, but struggled with the idea of running away
- 9:45Speaker 1: because Jasmine's family would just go about trying to find them.
- 9:50Speaker 2: In all honesty, I can relate to the escaping to
- 9:52Speaker 2: Europe and living in a castle dream.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I mean that does actually sound kind of awesome.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, girl, that's my dream.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Hell yeah, you're all about that dreaming. Oh my dream
- 10:03Speaker 1: is actually just like moving our tiny home to Tafino,
- 10:05Speaker 1: So I feel like it's a bit more attainable.
- 10:08Speaker 2: That's my Canadian North American dream for sure. However, if
- 10:12Speaker 2: I were to do whatever the fuck I want, castle
- 10:16Speaker 2: is in Europe, I mean, it doesn't matter where a
- 10:19Speaker 2: castle fucking rights.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Probably in Ireland or Scotland or something. Yes, yeah, Okay,
- 10:26Speaker 1: So they often discussed how to go about killing her
- 10:30Speaker 1: family and ran through various scenarios including shooting, stabbing, knocking
- 10:36Speaker 1: them out, and setting the house on fire. And if
- 10:39Speaker 1: they eliminated her parents, it would be unfair to leave
- 10:42Speaker 1: her brother alone in a world without a mom and
- 10:44Speaker 1: a dad. That's I don't agree with that at all.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I mean, I don't agree with the whole situation.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Devil's advocate here. Of course, murdering the parents
- 10:57Speaker 2: is not a cool thing. Don't get us wrong with
- 10:59Speaker 2: this conversation. But I don't think that's a reason to
- 11:04Speaker 2: have to kill the brother.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Too, because the thing is they were going to get caught,
- 11:08Speaker 1: like there is no doubt about it. Yeah, So having
- 11:12Speaker 1: the brother be able to say who did it, it
- 11:14Speaker 1: doesn't matter, Like it was going to be inevitable. So
- 11:17Speaker 1: it's like, this is an eight year old boy that
- 11:20Speaker 1: had his whole life ahead of him. Yeah, and he
- 11:22Speaker 1: would have been terribly devastated, but he would have adapted
- 11:27Speaker 1: in a way and still been able to potentially live
- 11:29Speaker 1: a fulfilled life wholeheartedly.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Right, So that is one of the most pathetic excuses,
- 11:35Speaker 2: Oh yeah, for murdering someone, let alone a child.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Honestly fucking disgusting. Yeah, disgusting it is. So then came
- 11:44Speaker 1: the evening of April twenty second. Early in the evening,
- 11:47Speaker 1: the Richardson's had Gareth over and were enjoying hot dogs
- 11:51Speaker 1: in the backyard with Jacob. I had mentioned in part
- 11:54Speaker 1: one that Jacob and Gareth were supposed to have a
- 11:56Speaker 1: sleepover that night, but Gareth instead was going to a
- 12:00Speaker 1: hockey game with his grandma, so they were hanging out
- 12:03Speaker 1: beforehand having a hot dog roast, which, holy shit, thank god.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Right, yeah, no kidding, Otherwise he would.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Have been He would have been killed too, for sure.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I think, just like the logic of what those people had,
- 12:14Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Meanwhile, Jeremy was getting drunk and stoned
- 12:20Speaker 1: with friends. He had previously purchased a twelve pack of
- 12:23Speaker 1: beer and an eighth ounce bag of pot, and when
- 12:26Speaker 1: his beer was done, he rated his mother's beer fridge
- 12:29Speaker 1: or beer supply in the fridge and vodka in the freezer.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Jasmine wasn't with Jeremy that evening. She was at home
- 12:37Speaker 1: soaking in a hot bath and messaging with a friend.
- 12:41Speaker 1: The friend wanted to hang out with Jasmine the following day,
- 12:43Speaker 1: go swimming or go to the mall, but Jasmine simply
- 12:46Speaker 1: replied that she couldn't, and when asked why not, the
- 12:49Speaker 1: friend never received a reply back. At about nine pm,
- 12:55Speaker 1: Jeremy left his trailer high on pot and booze and
- 12:58Speaker 1: went to visit his friend Jordan and ask him a favor.
- 13:02Speaker 2: High on pot and booze. Eh, yeah, high on booze.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Sure, high on all of it, all of the above.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I know, I just felt high on I should have
- 13:15Speaker 1: said high on pot, intoxicated on booze, drunk on booze.
- 13:20Speaker 2: He was under the influence of alcohol and the devil's lettuce.
- 13:24Speaker 1: He was intoxicated by two means.
- 13:26Speaker 2: A Mary Jane the marijuana.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Okay, so you see. He wanted his friend Jordan to
- 13:34Speaker 1: help murder his girlfriend's family with him, and he wasn't
- 13:38Speaker 1: the first friend he'd ask of this. Jeremy had previously
- 13:43Speaker 1: asked his friend Grant, who simply told him to fuck off.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Jordan wasn't interested either, He said, no way, I don't
- 13:51Speaker 1: have it in me to kill another human being. Jeremy
- 13:55Speaker 1: was furious, but left and headed back to his trailer.
- 13:59Speaker 1: He called and once more when he got home and
- 14:02Speaker 1: was overheard yelling at him and talking to Jordan about
- 14:06Speaker 1: killing them. He also threatened Jordan, saying, if I ever
- 14:09Speaker 1: find out you or anybody else told the police about this,
- 14:13Speaker 1: I will kill all of you because I won't know
- 14:15Speaker 1: which one is the rat.
- 14:18Speaker 2: What the fuck?
- 14:20Speaker 1: So, the sad reality of this is so many people
- 14:24Speaker 1: knew of Jeremy and Jasmine's intentions.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Buddy scared them all into silence.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Well no, and even some of Jasmine's friends knew that
- 14:32Speaker 1: she had told, but it just never got reported because
- 14:36Speaker 1: as far as everybody was concerned, they were just angry
- 14:40Speaker 1: and they would never actually go about ahead with this plan.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Well, I mean, how absurd is it to think that
- 14:46Speaker 2: your friend's going to go murder their parents. I mean,
- 14:48Speaker 2: you're probably not going to believe them.
- 14:50Speaker 1: No, you probably wouldn't. Like you just think, oh, they're angry,
- 14:53Speaker 1: like they just need to cool off.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Yeah, well you hear that in conversations and you can
- 14:57Speaker 2: I mean you can scroll Instagram or TikTok and you
- 15:00Speaker 2: could find people getting in arguments or whatever and like,
- 15:03Speaker 2: I'm going to kill this guy. I mean they're not
- 15:06Speaker 2: meaning it, literally, No.
- 15:08Speaker 1: No, when you're mad, you say things. But I mean,
- 15:11Speaker 1: Jasmine I can kind of understand, but the Jeremy one,
- 15:14Speaker 1: I don't know. If I was in that situation, I
- 15:16Speaker 1: might not have taken it quite as lightly. Yeah, maybe
- 15:19Speaker 1: I would want to say something about that one.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 15:22Speaker 1: So once Jeremy calmed down, him and his friend started
- 15:25Speaker 1: watching the movie Natural Born Killers, which really set the
- 15:29Speaker 1: tone for the night. Have you watched this.
- 15:32Speaker 2: It's been a long time since I've seen that movie.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I know, I'm not even sure i've seen it, But
- 15:36Speaker 1: the premise of the movie is two lovers go on
- 15:39Speaker 1: a massive killing spree, including killing the girlfriend's parents so
- 15:43Speaker 1: she can be free of their control and live with him.
- 15:46Speaker 1: While watching, Jeremy was getting fired up and made comments
- 15:51Speaker 1: in regards to what was happening in the movie and
- 15:53Speaker 1: how him and Jasmine would go about it a little
- 15:56Speaker 1: bit different, like, for example, in the movie, the brother
- 15:59Speaker 1: was spared. That's where it's going to be different, Jeremy explained,
- 16:03Speaker 1: Jasmine is going to kill her brother. The one friend
- 16:07Speaker 1: told Jeremy to stop talking about killing Jasmine's family, to
- 16:11Speaker 1: which he responded, if you can talk her out of it,
- 16:14Speaker 1: I won't do it. Like this is just so fucked
- 16:18Speaker 1: up that these are the conversations. I don't think I
- 16:21Speaker 1: could have friends that talked like this. I think I'd
- 16:24Speaker 1: just be like, how.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Did you not go to the police with that? Though,
- 16:28Speaker 2: I know the difference is we're going to kill her
- 16:31Speaker 2: little brother?
- 16:32Speaker 1: Well, the thing was so like they were all very
- 16:35Speaker 1: intoxicated and stuff too.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Still, right, people are honest when they're intoxicated. Yeah, they're
- 16:42Speaker 2: usually brutally honest.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Yeah, so the friends part of their ways. And the
- 16:46Speaker 1: next thing that was overheard was was a two am
- 16:50Speaker 1: phone call. Jeremy was talking on the phone saying are
- 16:53Speaker 1: you sure you want to do this? He was later
- 16:56Speaker 1: heard leaving the trailer and driving away with no friends
- 17:02Speaker 1: willing to help. Jeremy turned to coke for courage, okay,
- 17:07Speaker 1: and when it paid his friend Cam a visit, who
- 17:10Speaker 1: he knew was a good source. Cam's girlfriend or Jenny. Sorry,
- 17:15Speaker 1: it was also at Cam's. Jenny was stoned herself, so
- 17:18Speaker 1: she couldn't remember exactly how much pot they smoked or
- 17:21Speaker 1: how many lines of cocaine they started, but she said
- 17:25Speaker 1: it was a lot. Might have been more than six
- 17:27Speaker 1: lines each.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Holy shit. Yeah, I mean I've never done coke, but
- 17:32Speaker 2: I can assume that's a lot.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I think that'd really fucked you up pretty bad.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah, no kidding.
- 17:37Speaker 1: They were also drinking vodka and Vampire brand wine straight
- 17:42Speaker 1: from the bottle. Jenny also offered Jeremy some ecstasy, so
- 17:47Speaker 1: it's safe to say Jeremy would have been absolutely wrecked.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Like I can't even imagine. So he's high on pot, cocaine, ecstasy, beer, vodka,
- 17:57Speaker 1: and wine, but not life. No, no, not that at all.
- 18:02Speaker 1: And then I think he even took like some I
- 18:04Speaker 1: don't even didn't hear about cocaine to go.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Cocaine to go.
- 18:08Speaker 1: It sounds terrible. I hate that. I just said that,
- 18:12Speaker 1: I'm welcome McDonald's.
- 18:13Speaker 2: What can I get for you today? Yeah? Can I
- 18:15Speaker 2: get a happy meal please? Oh gosh, with three lines
- 18:19Speaker 2: of coke in it? A Mick coke.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Anyway, And he snorted that before he went to Jasmine,
- 18:25Speaker 1: so like he he didn't need that. How the fuck
- 18:28Speaker 1: would he even drove driven there?
- 18:30Speaker 2: Like, I don't know, there's.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Honestly, it would have been awesome if he probably just
- 18:35Speaker 1: crashed on the way there, right.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Well, I don't know if i'd say that, but I didn't.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Say hurt, but just crash his vehicle? Can no longer
- 18:43Speaker 1: make it to Jasmine.
- 18:44Speaker 2: I know where you're going with that. Yes, no, I
- 18:46Speaker 2: the family lives. Yeah, I don't want him to just
- 18:48Speaker 2: drive off the road and fucking die.
- 18:50Speaker 1: But that's all I meant. No, I don't think I
- 18:52Speaker 1: just like crash, like maybe like hit a telephone pole
- 18:54Speaker 1: and like he can't get to Jasmine's. Yes, that's all
- 18:58Speaker 1: I meant. Okay, okay, So he left the apartment and
- 19:01Speaker 1: his way made his way to Jasmine's house. Jeremy crept
- 19:05Speaker 1: to the front of the house and picked up a
- 19:07Speaker 1: pine cone off the ground to throw at Jasmine's window
- 19:11Speaker 1: to let her know that he was there. She motioned
- 19:14Speaker 1: for him to go to the basement window, where she
- 19:16Speaker 1: would let him in.
- 19:17Speaker 2: You know, these two were like sitting here thinking they're
- 19:19Speaker 2: fucking Romeo and Juliette.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, there was even a reference of that shit
- 19:22Speaker 1: in the book. I didn't put it in here. I
- 19:24Speaker 1: was like, fuck that. Oh yeah, they think they're just awesome.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:28Speaker 1: In the pocket of his black hoodie, he carried a knife.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And then the events that unfolded Necks all seemed to
- 19:34Speaker 1: happen very fast. Debrah, Jasmine's mom, woke up to the
- 19:38Speaker 1: noise of Jeremy entering the house and most likely suspected
- 19:42Speaker 1: that Jasmine was once again trying to sneak out, so
- 19:45Speaker 1: she went down to the basement to investigate. As she's
- 19:49Speaker 1: turned on the light, she was met with Jeremy, who
- 19:52Speaker 1: was in his black clothes back near pream I said
- 19:58Speaker 1: that funny pream black fishnet, arm stockings, leather wristband, neck, bandana,
- 20:06Speaker 1: and eyes lined with black eyeliner. Fueled by cocaine, Jeremy
- 20:12Speaker 1: pounced on Deborah. There had been literally no time for
- 20:17Speaker 1: her to really react. Jeremy viciously stabbed Deborah twelve times,
- 20:22Speaker 1: including a twelve centimeter deep piercing to her heart. This
- 20:26Speaker 1: commotion obviously calls Mark to wake up and race downstairs
- 20:30Speaker 1: to the screams of his wife, which is just that
- 20:35Speaker 1: would just be like the worst way ever to wake up.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Oh man, I can't imagine.
- 20:39Speaker 1: He sees Deborah on the floor and the masks masked
- 20:42Speaker 1: figure standing over top her and grabs a screwdriver that
- 20:46Speaker 1: was left on the stairs and prepares for the battle
- 20:48Speaker 1: of his life. Mark was a warrior. He was fighting
- 20:52Speaker 1: for his family, but unfortunately he was no match for
- 20:56Speaker 1: the advantage Jeremy had on him of cocaine and a
- 20:59Speaker 1: sharp This breaks my heart. As Mark was realizing he
- 21:04Speaker 1: wasn't going to win this battle, he asked Jeremy who
- 21:08Speaker 1: who he was, like, who are you? To which Jeremy
- 21:11Speaker 1: didn't reply, But Mark then asks why, to which Jeremy screamed,
- 21:17Speaker 1: because you treat your daughter like shit. It's what your
- 21:20Speaker 1: daughter wanted. Those words would be the last Mark would
- 21:24Speaker 1: ever hear.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Holy fuck. Yeah wow, and those are nothing but the
- 21:32Speaker 2: like so incorrect, those.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Words so incorrect. Well, I mean the daughter did seem
- 21:38Speaker 1: like she did want well that yeah they did. They
- 21:41Speaker 1: could have given up on her so many times, I
- 21:44Speaker 1: feel like, and they just didn't. They seem like amazing people.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I feel like a lot of parents would not have
- 21:49Speaker 1: put up with what they did to the extent. So
- 21:53Speaker 1: Mark was stabbed twenty four times, including nine times in
- 21:57Speaker 1: his back.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Fuck.
- 21:59Speaker 1: He fought til has very last breath. Both Deborah and
- 22:03Speaker 1: Mark had numerous defensive knife cuts on their hands and arms.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Jeremy would meet Jasmine in the kitchen, where Jasmine apparently
- 22:12Speaker 1: gave Jeremy a hug and kiss and told him that
- 22:15Speaker 1: she loved him.
- 22:16Speaker 2: She then proceeded so she was just standing in the
- 22:18Speaker 2: kitchen the whole fucking time.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Pty. Well, I mean this is like just from them, right,
- 22:24Speaker 1: So she went upstairs at some point I think she
- 22:27Speaker 1: went I'm not sure, like some say she went to
- 22:29Speaker 1: check on her brother, but I think she didn't because
- 22:31Speaker 1: then she went up to the brother later and it
- 22:34Speaker 1: seemed like that was the first time she saw him.
- 22:36Speaker 1: But yeah, she was not helping, like she was just
- 22:38Speaker 1: kind of like watching from afar. I don't even think
- 22:40Speaker 1: she was really full eyes on what was going on
- 22:43Speaker 1: down there.
- 22:43Speaker 2: But even still, even if she was on a separate
- 22:45Speaker 2: floor wherever she was in the house, she's just listening
- 22:48Speaker 2: to this happen. Yeah, listening to her parents' fucking fight
- 22:51Speaker 2: for their lives.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yeah, holy fuck, Like it's really bad. So she then
- 22:58Speaker 1: proceeded to head upstairs to her brother, who was scared shitless,
- 23:02Speaker 1: asking her sister what was going on. Oh, I just
- 23:05Speaker 1: can't even with this brother's sister thing like it just
- 23:09Speaker 1: destroys me. Jasmine told her brother to go to sleep
- 23:13Speaker 1: as she cradled his neck in the crook of her
- 23:15Speaker 1: arm and squeezed hard, but Jacob dug his fingernails into
- 23:20Speaker 1: his sister's forearm and broke free from his sister's grip.
- 23:24Speaker 1: That's when Jeremy came up the stairs, smearing blood along
- 23:28Speaker 1: the wall in his path from like his sleeve. H
- 23:31Speaker 1: Jasmine and Jeremy cornered Jacob. His last words were I'm scared.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I'm too young to die.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Jasmine and Jeremy decided they couldn't let him live,
- 23:45Speaker 1: their excuse being that he was too sensitive and would
- 23:48Speaker 1: be wrong to leave him without parents. The little boy
- 23:52Speaker 1: fought In the Runaway Devil book, it said Jacob fought
- 23:56Speaker 1: like the Jedi warrior he often pretended to be. Neither
- 24:00Speaker 1: Jasmine nor Jeremy ever admitted to being the one who
- 24:03Speaker 1: ultimately took Jacob's life, though Jeremy was adamant it was Jasmine.
- 24:09Speaker 1: But either way, the little eight year old boy's life
- 24:12Speaker 1: was cut far too short. He was stabbed five times,
- 24:16Speaker 1: including a wide, deep gash across his neck. Fuck like monsters.
- 24:24Speaker 1: That is just a monsters and there's there's one monsters awful.
- 24:29Speaker 2: There's one thing I do know about the details on
- 24:31Speaker 2: this this part. There was blood in one of his toys, specifically,
- 24:35Speaker 2: wasn't there?
- 24:35Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I mentioned that in part one.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Oh that's right, okay, but he.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Had and that's why I kind of said, like Jedi.
- 24:42Speaker 1: So he had his lightsaber that apparently had blood on it.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Oh you're making me say this again. Like he went
- 24:50Speaker 1: to try to fight with his light fight them off
- 24:52Speaker 1: with his lightsaber.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Like just the most pure, innocent, little boy thing that
- 24:57Speaker 1: you could ever hear.
- 24:58Speaker 2: The thing that really gets me is they these two
- 25:02Speaker 2: fucking monsters. I'm sorry, but they are fucking monsters. They
- 25:05Speaker 2: are They think the right thing to do is to
- 25:10Speaker 2: kill them, because it would be wrong to leave them
- 25:12Speaker 2: without parents.
- 25:14Speaker 1: It doesn't make any sense.
- 25:16Speaker 2: So it's wrong to leave. But murdering's not right or right,
- 25:21Speaker 2: but it's.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Taking his life and all the possibilities of his life
- 25:24Speaker 1: is better. No, shit, it doesn't make any sense. It's
- 25:27Speaker 1: so disgusting.
- 25:29Speaker 2: We killed two, so we should probably kill three.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Yeah, what I mean, he would have had family or
- 25:35Speaker 1: someone else that he could have gone with. I'm sure right. So, So, now,
- 25:40Speaker 1: after the discovery of the Richeson murders, and as I
- 25:43Speaker 1: had mentioned in part one, initially the police feared Jasmine
- 25:46Speaker 1: was also a victim and had been abducted by the attacker,
- 25:50Speaker 1: but it was realized very quickly that was not the case.
- 25:53Speaker 1: The police contacted Jasmine's school counselor to gather some names
- 25:58Speaker 1: of Jasmine's friends in order to contact them in hopes
- 26:01Speaker 1: of finding her. Maybe she was just having a sleepover
- 26:03Speaker 1: at their house or something. Right, they would meet at
- 26:06Speaker 1: the school to retrieve Jasmine's school photo so they could
- 26:10Speaker 1: really sit and the contact in full of her friends.
- 26:14Speaker 1: And they also searched through Jasmine's locker to see if
- 26:17Speaker 1: she had her friend's numbers taped to the inside door
- 26:20Speaker 1: or in a notebook, as many students often did. But
- 26:25Speaker 1: what they found in her locker made Jasmine go from
- 26:28Speaker 1: no longer missing but to a murder suspect. She had
- 26:33Speaker 1: a twelve panel cartoon strip depicting a family of three
- 26:37Speaker 1: stick figures being burned alive while two others watched laughing.
- 26:42Speaker 1: One stick figer is happily running toward a vehicle labeled
- 26:46Speaker 1: Jeremy's truck. There was also a note that read Hugh Jays,
- 26:53Speaker 1: I'm looking to take a breath. This is brutal. It
- 26:56Speaker 1: is May the hatred and anger build of blazing infernos
- 27:02Speaker 1: fill you and overcome you. May the pains of a
- 27:06Speaker 1: thousand tortured souls come upon you like scalding and eclipse
- 27:11Speaker 1: all other noble feeling like the poem doesn't even really
- 27:15Speaker 1: make sense to me, but I'm gonna keep reading it.
- 27:17Speaker 1: May your hopes, dreams, and happiness fall into the swirling
- 27:21Speaker 1: pit of despair, never to return. May your peace of
- 27:26Speaker 1: mind and safety be gone to you, to be forever
- 27:29Speaker 1: afraid and allied. May the black overcome you, and the
- 27:33Speaker 1: pain never ending. May all you love be stolen and destroyed,
- 27:39Speaker 1: just out of reach, to never again feel such joys.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Amen xx amen. Yeah. So after they have found those
- 27:51Speaker 1: two pieces that are like wow, basically.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Yeah, no shit, I'm also kind of like wow.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean I just feel like it's hard
- 28:04Speaker 1: to believe that, like a twelve year old thinks that
- 28:07Speaker 1: way in a sense, you know, it's.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Hard to believe she is twelve, Yeah, honestly, and like
- 28:12Speaker 2: even that, you forget that posted, you forget that.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Yeah, she looks like she's literally sixteen years old.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Yeah, she doesn't look twelve, she doesn't act twelve. Certainly,
- 28:21Speaker 2: what she's done is not what you'd think is what's
- 28:24Speaker 2: normally capable from a twelve year.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Old and there was I said I was going to
- 28:28Speaker 1: post the photo with like the gun, but I never
- 28:30Speaker 1: posted that because I was like, I don't know if
- 28:31Speaker 1: Instagram will like that there's a gun in this photo.
- 28:33Speaker 1: So I had picked other photos just I said that
- 28:37Speaker 1: last one, so I just wanted to clarify. So, but
- 28:39Speaker 1: at the scene of the crime, there was also something
- 28:42Speaker 1: else they found, and it was a small blood smear
- 28:44Speaker 1: on the light switch in Jasmine's room. And from the
- 28:47Speaker 1: investigator's experiment experience, thieves or home invaders don't generally turn
- 28:52Speaker 1: off the lights, so that was like another thing that
- 28:56Speaker 1: really pinpointed her. Makes sense. I never even have thought
- 29:01Speaker 1: of that, to be honest, they don't turn off the lights, well,
- 29:03Speaker 1: or turn on and off the lights.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Oh turn yeah, turned him on and off? Yeah, fair enough.
- 29:07Speaker 1: You just want to they would I don't think they
- 29:09Speaker 1: would be touching the lights.
- 29:10Speaker 2: No, you want to leave it exactly as it is. Yeah,
- 29:12Speaker 2: I don't want to draw any attention.
- 29:13Speaker 1: If they needed a light or whatever, they'd have a flashlight.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:17Speaker 1: So and yeah, they would be trying to feel it
- 29:21Speaker 1: or something like that. So that just made so much sense.
- 29:23Speaker 1: I was just like, Wow, I never thought about that
- 29:25Speaker 1: I want to be like a detective. That's so interesting
- 29:27Speaker 1: what you probably learn. Okay, so where were Jasmine and Jeremy. Well,
- 29:32Speaker 1: after the Grousome murders, Jeremy took off. He was paranoid
- 29:37Speaker 1: that someone saw him. He was basically a hot mess, shaking, trembling,
- 29:42Speaker 1: gasping for air. He wanted Jasmine to hurry up. She
- 29:45Speaker 1: was in the process of gathering her things, but the
- 29:48Speaker 1: panic was really setting in, and he took off, running
- 29:51Speaker 1: down the street to his truck and drove back to
- 29:53Speaker 1: his trailer. I mean, he was also probably losing his high, right,
- 29:59Speaker 1: maybe not even yet, but he was just fed out
- 30:01Speaker 1: of his mind.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Whether he lost his high or he's still on it,
- 30:05Speaker 2: or he's just starting to freak out, I don't know,
- 30:07Speaker 2: but all those scenarios are definitely applicable and realistic.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Yeah. So, after gathering her things, including stealing her mom's purse,
- 30:16Speaker 1: which I'm like, that's just like another thing.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Right, it's just the salt into the wound.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Jasmine called a cab to come and pick her up
- 30:24Speaker 1: and take her to Jeremy's. She actually went outside to
- 30:27Speaker 1: call the cab so she wouldn't be in the house
- 30:29Speaker 1: with her dead family, and as she was outside, she
- 30:32Speaker 1: caught a glimpse of her father's body through the window
- 30:35Speaker 1: on the floor in the basement. She reached through the
- 30:38Speaker 1: broken window and closed the blinds to block the image.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Out of sight, out of mind. Wow, like disgusting.
- 30:45Speaker 2: How heartless is that?
- 30:47Speaker 1: I know that, It just seems it's beyond me like
- 30:51Speaker 1: it just the whole thing is awful, heartless, like you
- 30:54Speaker 1: said so. Once the cab dropped Jasmine off at Jeremy's,
- 30:59Speaker 1: they greedy each other with a big hug and exchanged
- 31:02Speaker 1: I love you s. Jeremy had already cleaned himself up,
- 31:06Speaker 1: but he looked worn out and had a rapidly swelling
- 31:09Speaker 1: eye like a black eye. He put his bloody clothes
- 31:13Speaker 1: into a plastic grocery brig to discard of, and the
- 31:16Speaker 1: two of them headed to Cam's apartment, where Jeremy had
- 31:20Speaker 1: been prior to the murders. They ended up staying the
- 31:23Speaker 1: night there. They had sex and woke up early afternoon
- 31:27Speaker 1: the following day, where they proceeded to get ready and
- 31:31Speaker 1: head to a well known party house and crash pad
- 31:34Speaker 1: where a party was in full swing.
- 31:38Speaker 2: And just a reminder Jeremy's in his twenties and she's twelve. Yeah,
- 31:43Speaker 2: just that reminder.
- 31:45Speaker 1: He's twenty three, so there's eleven year different difference there
- 31:49Speaker 1: and she's twelve. Yeah. So he, along with murdering people,
- 31:53Speaker 1: is also.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Let's just move on.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Let's just move on. Yeah, okay, So Jasmine was now free.
- 32:03Speaker 1: It was as if it was her coming out party.
- 32:06Speaker 1: At the party, it was described that the two of
- 32:08Speaker 1: them were all over each other, making out on the
- 32:11Speaker 1: couch like no one was literally around. And surprisingly the
- 32:15Speaker 1: party this, I was like, what the fuck, was barely
- 32:19Speaker 1: a kilometer down the road from Jasmine's house. So as
- 32:22Speaker 1: they were there, Gareth was discovering Jasmine's murdered family. His
- 32:27Speaker 1: mom was folding the police and the investigators were beginning
- 32:30Speaker 1: their search and they were not even a kilometer away.
- 32:33Speaker 2: And they didn't even give a shit, no wow.
- 32:37Speaker 1: At one point, search dogs were brought in to search
- 32:41Speaker 1: for evidence. They searched within a half kilometer radius of
- 32:45Speaker 1: the Richardson home, But if they had extended that search
- 32:48Speaker 1: to be a kilometer radius, they would have basically found
- 32:53Speaker 1: Jasmine and Jeremy on the front lawn eating fucking fast food.
- 32:57Speaker 2: But what reason would they have had to ext and
- 33:00Speaker 2: that sort of I know, like the line's drawn somewhere, right, yeah,
- 33:03Speaker 2: but the farther you get away, less chance of that.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Happens, I know. But I'm just like, oh, almost half
- 33:08Speaker 1: a kilometer or more. But I mean that would have
- 33:09Speaker 1: double the radius, right, So it's not like it's that
- 33:12Speaker 1: that close. So as they were outside eating their fast food,
- 33:17Speaker 1: Jeremy's good friend James showed up. He was moving out
- 33:20Speaker 1: and there to collect his final belongings. The two of
- 33:23Speaker 1: them actually followed James inside. Jeremy felt he could confide
- 33:27Speaker 1: in James and very quickly blurted out to him, we
- 33:31Speaker 1: killed my girlfriend's family last night. I gutted them like
- 33:35Speaker 1: a fish, to which Jasmine responded, my little brother gargled.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Wow, my little brother gargled, holy fuck yeah, oh my god.
- 33:49Speaker 1: James was busy, so the conversation didn't last long, but
- 33:53Speaker 1: James just responded that they're crazy, like you guys are crazy.
- 33:58Speaker 1: He didn't believe that his best friend could do something
- 34:01Speaker 1: like that.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Did he go to the police by any chance?
- 34:04Speaker 1: He did not right away, No, right away, but he did.
- 34:07Speaker 1: He did later when it was more out there. But
- 34:10Speaker 1: like just that little conversation didn't make him go to
- 34:13Speaker 1: the police. No one believed that they would buy something.
- 34:16Speaker 2: I understand.
- 34:17Speaker 1: I'm just like, that's a law, go to the.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Police, I understand. But I mean, okay, if you hear
- 34:23Speaker 2: someone saying that I killed someone, your next move should
- 34:28Speaker 2: probably be contacting the police. Yeah, even if it's a
- 34:32Speaker 2: can we get a welfare check on these people because
- 34:34Speaker 2: you know what this person claims they killed this person.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. So eventually the news started to reporting on
- 34:43Speaker 1: the murders, and this brought the same paranoia back to Jeremy.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Jeremy that he felt after the murders, which is when
- 34:51Speaker 1: the pair accepted a ride from a friend who was
- 34:54Speaker 1: driving some other friends to Leader, Saskatchewan. Last minute, I
- 34:59Speaker 1: looked at how Leader was because it was like, oh,
- 35:01Speaker 1: maybe it's like a distance, like they're really trying to escape,
- 35:03Speaker 1: but it was only like two hours away, which I
- 35:06Speaker 1: don't feel like as much of a getaway plan there
- 35:08Speaker 1: not really, And it was not because Leader would be
- 35:12Speaker 1: where the pair eventually got caught. They were caught by
- 35:16Speaker 1: a rookie RCMP fresh out of training, Constable Aaron Ewart,
- 35:21Speaker 1: who went off of a hunch he had seen the
- 35:25Speaker 1: bulletin put on the evening or put out sorry on
- 35:27Speaker 1: the evening of April twenty third, by the Medicine Hat
- 35:30Speaker 1: Police to be on the lookout for suspects who were
- 35:33Speaker 1: wanted in a triple homicide. It was suspected that leader
- 35:37Speaker 1: was their destination, as that's what the homicide or Sorry
- 35:40Speaker 1: the medicine Hat police were told from friends and acquaintances
- 35:44Speaker 1: of the pair. You weret drove around in his own
- 35:48Speaker 1: vehicle most of Sunday night in search, but at two
- 35:51Speaker 1: in the morning he decided he'd go get some sleep.
- 35:54Speaker 1: He would wake up the following morning at five thirty,
- 35:57Speaker 1: early enough to be at the main gas station in
- 36:00Speaker 1: town before it opened for the day. And sure enough,
- 36:05Speaker 1: seven am, a small pickup truck matching the description of
- 36:08Speaker 1: the suspect vehicle with Alberta plates pulled up to the
- 36:12Speaker 1: gas station. That's like using your nog in, eh no kidding, Like,
- 36:17Speaker 1: I'm like, well done after driving that.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Trip, they're going to be needing gas.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Yeah, well, like they were waiting for something to open two,
- 36:25Speaker 1: Like they were there in the night or whatever, and
- 36:27Speaker 1: they were waiting, So I was just like, that's impressive.
- 36:31Speaker 1: So I'm not going to go into a lot of
- 36:33Speaker 1: detail in their capture and arrest. Jeremy and Jasmine weren't
- 36:37Speaker 1: initially visible to Ewart as they were under the canopy
- 36:41Speaker 1: of the truck, being that there was enough room for
- 36:44Speaker 1: them in the cap. When the friends went inside the
- 36:46Speaker 1: gas station to use the bathroom, Jasmine and Jeremy stayed behind,
- 36:51Speaker 1: but while inside, they noticed a newspaper with the front
- 36:55Speaker 1: page heading a couple boy found dead with a picture
- 37:00Speaker 1: Jasmine's house and a picture of Jasmine herself. They were like,
- 37:04Speaker 1: utterly shocked.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Really, they were shocked.
- 37:06Speaker 1: They said, they were utterly shocked. The girls bought the
- 37:10Speaker 1: paper knocked on the canemy's to show Jasmine and Jeremy,
- 37:14Speaker 1: with jasmine reaction being to giggle.
- 37:18Speaker 2: To giggle, she giggled, what the fuck?
- 37:21Speaker 1: And Jeremy was basically like, that photo doesn't even look
- 37:24Speaker 1: like you. That was literally their reaction to her family's
- 37:28Speaker 1: murder being front page of a newspaper.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Wow, so these friends would have probably heard them saying
- 37:34Speaker 2: we're going to kill this family and all this sort
- 37:36Speaker 2: of stuff and let's leave town as we hide in
- 37:39Speaker 2: the pickup truck box under the canopy.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Well, they weren't nests like I feel like if there
- 37:46Speaker 1: was room, they probably would have gone in the cab,
- 37:48Speaker 1: but there wasn't room for them up there, so that's
- 37:50Speaker 1: why they were in the back.
- 37:51Speaker 2: But even still they had they had to have. At
- 37:54Speaker 2: one point heard them talk about or someone else of
- 37:57Speaker 2: other friends talk about them, saying, you're going to kill
- 37:59Speaker 2: their parent.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and one of the like, I'm not. I didn't
- 38:02Speaker 1: go much details of the girls, but at one point
- 38:05Speaker 1: Jeremy asked, I think it was definitely one of them,
- 38:09Speaker 1: it might have been both of them actually to go
- 38:12Speaker 1: wipe out his truck and hide it, to which they did.
- 38:16Speaker 2: They did? They did, they did, they did, they did?
- 38:19Speaker 2: What the fuck?
- 38:21Speaker 1: Yeah, So if anyone ever asked you to like go
- 38:23Speaker 1: wipe out their truck and to hide it, maybe just
- 38:26Speaker 1: like call the police. No shit, Yeah yeah.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Let me wipe your truck out and go hide it. First.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Well, the wipe garl had a crush on Jeremy.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and if that guy asked you to go the
- 38:38Speaker 2: truck and hide it.
- 38:40Speaker 1: You should just let go of that crush because yeah,
- 38:42Speaker 1: no kidding. So the group pulled away and drove to
- 38:46Speaker 1: the parking lot of the high school just to like regroup.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I think little did they know that you were was
- 38:52Speaker 1: following when he When his backup arrived, the officers approached
- 38:57Speaker 1: the truck, finding Jasmine and Jeremy the back, with Jasmine pantless.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Ough the teens are you You're just like face disgusting case.
- 39:11Speaker 1: You're absolutely I should be laughing, but Ben's face, it's
- 39:14Speaker 1: just too much. Okay. So the teen girls were gathered
- 39:17Speaker 1: and put in the back of Ewart's vehicle, with Jasmine
- 39:20Speaker 1: being handcuffed. Jeremy was put in the back of the
- 39:23Speaker 1: other officer's car, and as he was he yelled out,
- 39:26Speaker 1: tell my mom she can have my TV and then
- 39:28Speaker 1: I love her.
- 39:30Speaker 2: What That's what he says, This fucking guy, you think
- 39:34Speaker 2: the TV is the most important thing right now? Him?
- 39:37Speaker 1: Ma, Ma.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Just arrested for murder. But don't worry. I'm going away
- 39:43Speaker 2: for thirty years. You can have my TV. It's okay.
- 39:48Speaker 1: The way you just grabbed your MIC and just like
- 39:50Speaker 1: went after that was freaking good.
- 39:52Speaker 2: That was good. Sorry, that was good.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Okay. As the girls were being driven to the station,
- 39:59Speaker 1: this is fuck, this is fucked. Their biggest worry seemed
- 40:02Speaker 1: to be if Jeremy would get charged with raping an
- 40:06Speaker 1: underage girl. Since Jasmine got caught with her pants off,
- 40:10Speaker 1: that's what they were worried about.
- 40:11Speaker 2: That was their concern.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Yeap, and one of the girls told Jasmine to claim
- 40:15Speaker 1: that the cops had raped her. They were all taking
- 40:19Speaker 1: it very seriously as you could, you can tell.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Wow.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Among other things, they were also very disrespectful to the officers,
- 40:28Speaker 1: telling them to fuck off, damaging the inside of the
- 40:31Speaker 1: police cruiser when they were in there, stealing notepads and pens,
- 40:35Speaker 1: and making unauthorized phone calls. Because the population of Leader
- 40:39Speaker 1: was like under a thousand, So though the place the
- 40:42Speaker 1: police did an amazing job, they weren't necessarily equipped to
- 40:45Speaker 1: hold four teenage girls in one adult male right. They
- 40:49Speaker 1: didn't have the holding cells for that situation, so they
- 40:52Speaker 1: had to keep them in the cruiser at times, and
- 40:55Speaker 1: like they were just trying to work with what they had. Yeah,
- 40:58Speaker 1: fair enough, And these were they were being little shits.
- 41:02Speaker 2: They were being cunts, that's what you were trying.
- 41:04Speaker 1: To say, Yes, I guess, but it's like, did they
- 41:09Speaker 1: not realize what the fuck was actually going on?
- 41:13Speaker 2: Wow? Apparently like they should.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Have honestly also got charged for just being little dinks.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Like I don't know, is that a charge that you
- 41:19Speaker 1: can get.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Your charged for being a little dink. That's a separate
- 41:24Speaker 2: charge from having a little dink.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Anyway, both Jasmine and Jeremy were charged with three counts
- 41:32Speaker 1: of first degree murder. For Jasmine, at twelve years old
- 41:36Speaker 1: and six months of age, she became the youngest person
- 41:40Speaker 1: charged with multiple homicide in Canada.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Wow.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Not a badge to be proud of it, No kidding, Okay. So,
- 41:48Speaker 1: to touch on Jasmine's and Jeremy's interrogation, they both cracked.
- 41:55Speaker 1: They both cracked under the pressure fair enough. Jeremy was
- 41:58Speaker 1: an emotional wreck. He says, things just kept escalating, they
- 42:03Speaker 1: got out of control. I would do anything for Jasmine.
- 42:06Speaker 1: I tried to talk her out of it, but she
- 42:08Speaker 1: wanted it bad. And though Jasmine was pretty much essentially
- 42:13Speaker 1: emotionless through most of it. They did, however, get her
- 42:17Speaker 1: to write an apology to her parents to help her
- 42:20Speaker 1: get it out. But really we're just trying to get
- 42:23Speaker 1: as much evidence out of her as possible. Of course,
- 42:28Speaker 1: she said, dear my lovely parental units, I am writing
- 42:34Speaker 1: in response to the events of Sunday morning. A terrible
- 42:37Speaker 1: thing happened, something I always feel was all my fault.
- 42:41Speaker 1: You must know I love you all dearly and are
- 42:44Speaker 1: in my prayers. I wish peace upon your souls in
- 42:48Speaker 1: the summer Land. To my little brother, I apologize for
- 42:52Speaker 1: letting you hear what had happened, also for causing you
- 42:55Speaker 1: pain and for frightening you so much. To my parents,
- 42:59Speaker 1: I hope you know that through all this, through all
- 43:03Speaker 1: that has happened, I loved you the whole. While I
- 43:06Speaker 1: wish I couldn't. I wish I could take everything back.
- 43:10Speaker 1: I wish it hadn't happened. I wish you were with
- 43:12Speaker 1: me right now, because now I have no one. I
- 43:16Speaker 1: can pray that you forgive me. And Jeremy too, because
- 43:19Speaker 1: he was under the influence of mine altering substance and
- 43:23Speaker 1: did it out of love for me. He is most
- 43:26Speaker 1: possibly the kindest person I've ever met, his wish being
- 43:30Speaker 1: for my happiness. Through all the fights and hatred exchanged,
- 43:35Speaker 1: I still loved you, and I'm sorry my sarcasm was
- 43:38Speaker 1: taken to heart. I never meant to harm you. I
- 43:41Speaker 1: pray you can be at peace somehow.
- 43:46Speaker 2: That is a whole lot to unpack. I never meant
- 43:48Speaker 2: to harm you, and I pray for you. Yet there
- 43:51Speaker 2: was that weird prayer poem, yeah, in her locker that
- 43:55Speaker 2: we found I don't know.
- 43:57Speaker 1: I also, I don't know. I was found slightly biased
- 44:01Speaker 1: with her because I feel like, especially because in episode
- 44:03Speaker 1: one she had gone to counseling with her parents and
- 44:06Speaker 1: like seemed like she just like knew how to play
- 44:08Speaker 1: the game a little bit, right, mm hmmm, because her
- 44:10Speaker 1: parents thought she was changing and like gave her more
- 44:12Speaker 1: freedom and stuff, and then instantly she just was like
- 44:15Speaker 1: back to her old ways. So it's like, I feel
- 44:17Speaker 1: like she's kind of manipulative even how she's what she's
- 44:21Speaker 1: done with Jeremy really.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, And there's there's there's a saying of you're
- 44:26Speaker 2: not sorry for what happened, You're sorry you got caught,
- 44:29Speaker 2: And I think that's exactly what this is. She never
- 44:32Speaker 2: anticipated getting caught. She just thought that she'd run off
- 44:35Speaker 2: in the sunset and live happily ever after. She didn't
- 44:37Speaker 2: even calculate getting caught into it.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's but then things like she's twelve, Yeah, exactly.
- 44:45Speaker 1: It's so hard to unpack because ken a twelve year
- 44:49Speaker 1: old actually be capable of what we feel she is.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Why not I don't know that just seems so young
- 44:55Speaker 1: to me, Like that seems so young to me. But
- 44:58Speaker 1: she's matured beyond her years.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Really well, regardless of matured beyond years or immature, well
- 45:05Speaker 2: under your years, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter age
- 45:07Speaker 2: or anything. A person can be capable of quite for
- 45:11Speaker 2: lack of better words, incredible things. Unbelievable things would be
- 45:15Speaker 2: a better term. There we go.
- 45:16Speaker 1: You just wouldn't expect it from a twelve year old there, You.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Would not to say that they can't be capable of that,
- 45:22Speaker 2: whether it's physical or mental or whatever. Manipulation. Yeah, clearly
- 45:27Speaker 2: she is capable of it, because that's exactly what happened.
- 45:31Speaker 1: So Jasmine and Jeremy also wrote love letters back and
- 45:35Speaker 1: forth to each other, and this was like also the
- 45:37Speaker 1: interrogator's idea, and I'll spare you, but through these Jeremy
- 45:43Speaker 1: actually asked Jasmine to marry him and she said yes,
- 45:46Speaker 1: So I guess they were also engaged, all right. Then,
- 45:52Speaker 1: once on trial, Jasmine pleaded not guilty. Essentially, the defense
- 45:58Speaker 1: wanted the jury to believe that Jasmine was a child
- 46:01Speaker 1: victim with Jeremy being her predator, that she never intended
- 46:06Speaker 1: for the murders to actually happen, but there was evidence
- 46:11Speaker 1: that would be presented to say otherwise. She painted the
- 46:15Speaker 1: picture that it was all Jeremy, that she awoke that
- 46:17Speaker 1: night to her mother's screams, and that she herself was
- 46:20Speaker 1: afraid of Jeremy, that Jeremy would hurt her. But when
- 46:24Speaker 1: she was cross examined, things didn't go so well for Jasmine.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Many holes in Jasmine's story were brought up. If there
- 46:32Speaker 1: had been no premeditated plan to kill her family, why
- 46:36Speaker 1: had she not phoned nine one one while Jeremy was
- 46:38Speaker 1: downstairs murdering her parents. Why didn't she tell her little
- 46:43Speaker 1: eight year old brother to run once Jeremy had left
- 46:47Speaker 1: the house. Why didn't she check on her family and
- 46:50Speaker 1: see if they needed help, see if they were maybe
- 46:52Speaker 1: still alive? Right? Instead, she packed a bag and took
- 46:58Speaker 1: a cab to Jeremy. I also something I never meant
- 47:03Speaker 1: mentioned she didn't have money for the cab, so at
- 47:06Speaker 1: one point she had to run down the street to
- 47:08Speaker 1: like the seven to eleven, to the bank machine to
- 47:11Speaker 1: get money, and there was a clerk there so that
- 47:14Speaker 1: would be another opportunity for her to get help.
- 47:16Speaker 2: Well, and the cab driver themselves.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Yeah, or the neighbors. Yep, really anything, right, So Jasmine
- 47:24Speaker 1: was actually described and compared as a mini Carla Carla Homolka.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Yeah, wow, who.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Also willingly sacrificed we did this case is the Barbie
- 47:34Speaker 1: and Ken killers. Carla also willingly sacrificed a younger sibling
- 47:39Speaker 1: for her love. So the jury deliberated for four hours,
- 47:43Speaker 1: only four hours, and convicted Jasmine of all accounts on
- 47:48Speaker 1: the offenses charged.
- 47:50Speaker 2: Wow, rightfully?
- 47:51Speaker 1: So yeah, jack, okay, and shit, I didn't put this
- 47:55Speaker 1: in here. This is brutal. If she had been like
- 47:58Speaker 1: done this six months prior before she turned twelve, yeah,
- 48:01Speaker 1: she wouldn't have really been I think she was only
- 48:03Speaker 1: able to be charged with like parole then because she's
- 48:06Speaker 1: so young, right, So her being twelve like made her
- 48:11Speaker 1: actually be able to be charged for more.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Wow. Could you imagine though, if she just was on
- 48:16Speaker 2: parole and that's it.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Well, just wait, dude, it's not good. So Jasmine's sentencing
- 48:23Speaker 1: options were limited under the terms of the Youth Criminal
- 48:27Speaker 1: Justice Act, taking into account the eighteen months Jasmine had
- 48:32Speaker 1: already spent in jail, she was sentenced to four years
- 48:35Speaker 1: in custody, which was a rehabilitation program to be followed
- 48:39Speaker 1: by four and a half years of community supervision or probation,
- 48:43Speaker 1: giving her the maximum sentence possible. So in twenty sixteen,
- 48:49Speaker 1: Jasmine walked free.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Wow.
- 48:53Speaker 1: She was described as a poster child of rehabilitation and
- 48:57Speaker 1: deemed unlikely to reoffend in her abbas a life. But
- 49:01Speaker 1: the scariest part you're gonna freak is Jasmine's youth record
- 49:07Speaker 1: will vanish if she commits no offenses for five years
- 49:11Speaker 1: after her sentence, which would have been last year. So
- 49:16Speaker 1: fully rehabilitated or not, Jasmine could become in a position
- 49:20Speaker 1: of power, say a teacher, a nurse, run, a day
- 49:23Speaker 1: care caregiver, and no one would know her dark history.
- 49:28Speaker 2: Holy fuck, Yeah, okay can I'm gonna go one at
- 49:32Speaker 2: a time here first and foremost, I am super happy
- 49:35Speaker 2: that she has been rehabilitated. That is incredible.
- 49:38Speaker 1: I mean, but do we know for sure? She's also
- 49:41Speaker 1: so young, they're not, we don't know much.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Assuming she is, yes, the medical clinic says she is.
- 49:46Speaker 2: I'm going to take that at face value and say
- 49:48Speaker 2: she is. Yeah, So assuming she is, that is incredible.
- 49:51Speaker 2: So happy for that. However, no criminal record.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it did say that took like her DNA to
- 50:01Speaker 1: have in the system or whatever.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Well I better hope they have her DNA fing But.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Yeah, like this just leaves her so like she could
- 50:09Speaker 1: literally go and be a teacher.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know she's changed her name.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Oh one hundred percent. She's very much it said, she's
- 50:17Speaker 1: very much so living a discreet life in an undisclosed
- 50:21Speaker 1: location in Canada.
- 50:22Speaker 2: Wow, she could quite literally be a neighbor of ours.
- 50:25Speaker 1: She could. Holy fuck, and no one knows. That is
- 50:30Speaker 1: terrifying because I'm sorry, if you do something that bad,
- 50:35Speaker 1: it needs to stay on there so that you don't
- 50:38Speaker 1: have jobs that like with Carla, for example, she wasn't
- 50:42Speaker 1: allowed to be around youth or whatever. Yeah, so I
- 50:46Speaker 1: mean you can get rid of the record, I guess
- 50:48Speaker 1: if that's the rules. But it's like she shouldn't be
- 50:50Speaker 1: able to do certain things, uncertain jobs and be around.
- 50:54Speaker 2: Certain no kidding, no kidding, that's that is wild. No record,
- 51:00Speaker 2: no record, clear clean nothing.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Yeah, like it didn't happen.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Holy fuck.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay, So, to very briefly touch on Jeremy, the
- 51:11Speaker 1: courts had taped a conversation of Jeremy bragging to an
- 51:15Speaker 1: undercover officer of his crimes to incriminate himself in his
- 51:18Speaker 1: own words. There was also the blog posts that he
- 51:22Speaker 1: did met more people of authority hearing him brag, blood
- 51:26Speaker 1: evidence and testimonials from his friends who he tried to
- 51:31Speaker 1: recruit to help him with the murders. So he just heated.
- 51:34Speaker 1: No favors for himself in this case whatsoever. The defense
- 51:38Speaker 1: was trying to build a case for second degree murder
- 51:41Speaker 1: as opposed to first That was like the best I
- 51:43Speaker 1: think they thought they could do secondary degree of manslaughter,
- 51:47Speaker 1: saying Jeremy's extreme state of impairment that night could explain
- 51:51Speaker 1: that his actions were impulsive. He was a man with
- 51:55Speaker 1: zero self esteem who finally found someone to love him.
- 51:59Speaker 1: The jury deliberate for one day with a guilty verdict
- 52:02Speaker 1: of first degree murder on all counts, the mandatory sentence
- 52:06Speaker 1: being life in prison with no chance of parole for
- 52:09Speaker 1: twenty five years.
- 52:11Speaker 2: Wow.
- 52:12Speaker 1: So I mean, honestly, there's and he was serving those
- 52:17Speaker 1: at the same time, So technically he could get out
- 52:21Speaker 1: at twenty five two and still live a life out
- 52:24Speaker 1: of prison.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Do you think those two are still in contact?
- 52:27Speaker 1: No, because in the book I didn't even put it
- 52:29Speaker 1: in here, but because I was just like, fuck Jeremy.
- 52:33Speaker 1: I didn't like looking into this, but it did briefly
- 52:37Speaker 1: say that he had they had separated or whatever because
- 52:41Speaker 1: they kind of like went against each other a little bit, right, Yeah,
- 52:43Speaker 1: and that Jeremy was basically with another young person who
- 52:48Speaker 1: they were waiting for her to turn eighteen so that
- 52:50Speaker 1: they could get married.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Oh while this was happening, or while he was in
- 52:54Speaker 2: prison in jail. Okay, yeah, wow, fucking that. Oh that gross?
- 53:00Speaker 1: Oh well, both of them had, especially Jeremy had like
- 53:03Speaker 1: some serious fans and shit fans. Yeah, like followers that
- 53:07Speaker 1: were just like so pro them.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Wow.
- 53:10Speaker 1: Yeah, So that's the case.
- 53:14Speaker 2: That is disturbing beyond belief. The biggest thing for me, Oh,
- 53:21Speaker 2: I can't believe she has no criminal record.
- 53:24Speaker 1: I knew though nothing really bother you.
- 53:26Speaker 2: That really fucking bothers me.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel like too. She wasn't able to buy
- 53:31Speaker 1: firearms or something. There was one other tiny thing, but
- 53:34Speaker 1: it's just it's so minimal. It's so minimal because she
- 53:37Speaker 1: shouldn't be able to just live her life like anyone else.
- 53:40Speaker 2: No.
- 53:41Speaker 1: I mean, grant you, I get that she was super
- 53:43Speaker 1: young when this shit happened, but that is just pretty bad.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Like that's not something that she's gonna be washed under
- 53:51Speaker 1: the rug, Like that is brutal what she did.
- 53:55Speaker 2: Yeah, wholeheartedly, fucking monster. Yeah, but I am glad she's rehabilitated.
- 54:01Speaker 2: I am glad for that.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Well, I'm honestly curious, how like, because neither of them
- 54:06Speaker 1: ever really the book said showed any what's the word
- 54:11Speaker 1: like remorse?
- 54:13Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, so.
- 54:15Speaker 1: I'm just curious if she's rehabilitated and stuff. Honestly, how
- 54:19Speaker 1: could you live with yourself? No kidding, Like I don't know,
- 54:23Speaker 1: I mean rehabilitated. Okay, you're in good headspace and stuff,
- 54:25Speaker 1: but you literally killed your family and they're not here anymore,
- 54:29Speaker 1: and like you, she wouldn't have anyone, Like, how would she?
- 54:33Speaker 1: How would you go about living day to day? Like
- 54:35Speaker 1: I feel like that would just be a struggle.
- 54:38Speaker 2: I sincerely hope that she hears her little brother's voice
- 54:41Speaker 2: every night before she goes to bed. That's what I hope.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, she can't be living a good life if
- 54:48Speaker 1: that's the case, then because that would be very traumatizing.
- 54:52Speaker 2: This case was traumatizing. Thank you for putting us through that. Yeah,
- 54:55Speaker 2: well done, though, what was the book that you read
- 54:57Speaker 2: for this.

- 55:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and we'll put it in this one too, honestly,
- 55:13Speaker 1: like it was, it was really good read, and there
- 55:16Speaker 1: was even more things that I could have touched on.
- 55:18Speaker 1: But it's like I probably honestly could have had this
- 55:20Speaker 1: in three parts too. There was things I had to
- 55:22Speaker 1: leave out and stuff, but so go read it because
