- 1:29Keri Croft: Welcome to the Carrie Croft Show.
- 1:32Keri Croft: Dr.
- 1:32Keri Croft: Nina Deep, welcome to the Carrie Croft Show.
- 1:35Keri Croft: Thank you.
- 1:36Keri Croft: I had been eagerly anticipating this.
- 1:38Keri Croft: Because you know, I do, I do like to talk about things that need to be discussed.
- 1:42Keri Croft: And I feel like women in general are often overlooked, right?
- 1:46Keri Croft: And so why wouldn't our body parts be overlooked until today?
- 1:49Keri Croft: You've been doing this, so tell us a little bit about like your background.
- 1:52Keri Croft: What started your interest in this female body part?
- 1:56Keri Croft: Yes.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: So I'm an internist.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: I graduated from medical school in 1994, and I've been taking care of women ever since.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: And then I practiced internal medicine in an outpatient setting for many years.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Started Nina Deep MD aesthetics in about 2005, which is a practice that specializes in non-surgical aesthetics.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: And then in 2018, I brought in this vaginal rejuvenation device.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: And I brought it in because anything that's going to help women feel better and to help with symptoms that really bother women is something I would be interested in doing.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: And other than just injectables and laser resurfacing to really empower women to feel better about themselves, I would bring those kinds of things into the practice.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: And I was very comfortable with doing my patients' peps and pelvics and all of that.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: So that didn't bother me.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: But anyway, long story short, brought this vaginal rejuvenation device into the practice.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: It helps women with urine leakage when they laugh, cough, and sneeze, vaginal dryness, and it helps them have more sensation with intercourse.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, who doesn't want that?
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: But during my investigation into how am I supposed to discuss sexual function with my patients and measure it before and after the procedure, there was a dearth of information.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: I could not understand how to scientifically, empirically study this.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: There's just so few ways for studying this in women.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: For men, erectile function kind of easy.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: But for women, it was really difficult.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: And I decided to just research how am I gonna do this.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: And I came across this artist who was giving this TED talk, and her name was Sophia Wallace, and she had these huge gold statues on stage.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: They were like, you know, six feet tall, and they were this structure.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: And I thought, oh, she's just an artist.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: Like this is her artistic representation of what the clitoris is.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: No, this is the clitoris.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: So then I went down this rabbit hole of I'm a doctor, and there's an artist who's talking about the clitoris, and this is a body part that I've never seen and never heard of and never knew existed.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: And I then just started to research it very intensely.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: And that's how I became interested in it because it's it was so shocking and sad.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: You know, I was just, I'm a doctor, I'm a scientist, I'm a mom.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: I had never known this, so it was disillusioning from a medical standpoint.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: So then I got these models on Etsy, brought them home.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: My husband's a doctor, and I went.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: This is after like months and months of looking into it.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't, I didn't really talk about it.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: I think I was first like, did I miss this in medical school?
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Like I first like it was a you problem, super confused.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: But I would ask my girlfriends and then I would ask my doctor girlfriends, and then I asked my husband, and no one knew anything.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: But then I got went home and I showed him and I was like, Do you know what this is?
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: And it is a body part that we have that is life size, and he didn't know.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: He gave a few guesses.
- 4:28Keri Croft: And then I just kept looking into it.
- 4:30Keri Croft: Then you were like, I'm gonna go on a crusade here.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: I wasn't actually in the crusade moment because, and this will be probably more information than you need, but if you look it up on the internet, so if you Google when was the clitoris mapped out, it will say it was mapped out in the 90s.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: This isn't true.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: It was mapped out in the 1600s.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: I'm just saying, if you Google it, the first thing you will come up with is it was mapped out in the 90s, and then you'll come up with these 2026 articles that say, we finally mapped out the nerves of the clitoris.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: And none of this is true.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: I'm just saying this is what you find on the internet.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: So 2018, I was like, oh, well, maybe we did just dissect the clitoris.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: Maybe it's new.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: And I left it.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: And then in 2023, I mean, I would tell all my patients, and they were all so confused, but I left it as like a global, this needs to be more understood.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: And then in 2023, I had this commercial on TV, and the commercial was for the vaginal rejuvenation device.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: And the commercial was really great, and I was really proud of it.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: And it it said 50% of women struggle with urine leakage, and many more struggle with vaginal dryness.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: And if you're one of them, there's this great procedure, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: At the end, I say side effects include increased orgasm and enhanced sexual sensation.
- 5:36Keri Croft: Yay! That's the best mark thing I ever heard.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: And so then I ran that for five years.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: Um, and then I was switching advertising stations, and the new one said, No way, you cannot use the word orgasm.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: You can't say that.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: And they censored my commercial and they wanted me to change the verbiage.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: And what I knew about women is that they were so embarrassed about these topics that they weren't gonna call and get help unless we made it somewhat humorous.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: And also, it was like, yeah, I mean, who wouldn't want that?
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: And it really allowed patients to be more comfortable calling the office and urine leakage and vaginal dryness and sexual not having sexual sensation.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: All those things are terrible problems that affect women, but women tend to live with them and accept them as normal.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: So, anyway, I was I got this letter from the the advertising station, and then I was just, I was like, I first of all, I couldn't believe it.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: I'm not like a pot star.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 6:25Keri Croft: Yeah, but what about erectile dysfunction and all the commercials that are so overt?
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: And everybody smell a double standard.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was exactly what happened.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: And so then my daughter was home.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: She was in her fourth year of med school.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: She was sitting there with two of her girlfriends who were also in their fourth year of med school.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: And I brought out the clitoris models because it was, I just thought it's been 30 years.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm sure that things have changed in medical school.
- 6:46Keri Croft: I selfishly want you to get ads on my show.
- 6:48Keri Croft: I could do some real.
- 6:50Keri Croft: We have no HR here, honey.
- 6:51Keri Croft: I know.
- 6:51Keri Croft: Oh, I would do so.
- 6:52Keri Croft: I would go, we would go way over the top on those at the end.
- 6:55Keri Croft: That's next in my list.
- 6:56Keri Croft: I mean, that would be amazing.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: And so they didn't know.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: And I thought, oh, they don't know, but I thought things must have changed.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: Well, then I that's when I actually looked at the history of medicine and the history of female sexual health and how it's represented, not just in medicine, but also just in our education system.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: And then the history of how we're so censored and how much censorship is discrepancy between how male sexual health is censored and how women's female sexual health is censored.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: And that's why I'm speaking out.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: God, it's just so funny.
- 7:24Keri Croft: It's this cloak of shame.
- 7:25Keri Croft: It is.
- 7:26Keri Croft: Whether it's how you have sex, so if you have sex too much as a woman, there's shame.
- 7:31Keri Croft: But if you have sex a lot as a male, it's the opposite.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 7:34Keri Croft: You're either a cloak or you're a stud.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and that, and then, and then here, and like it's just always this cloak of shame.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: And that's what it all comes down to.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: And that's the underlying theme of this discussion.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: It's shame.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: So, what happened for me, very much like the tip of the iceberg, understanding the clitoris really it allowed me to unravel those messages of socialized shame I've carried my whole life.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: Like, even okay, let's just Oh yeah.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: Just say like a boss bitch.
- 7:58Keri Croft: Yeah, right.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that whole idea that women are supposed to cross our legs because we have to hide our sexual organ because we're dangerous, and what we have here is going to tempt men to be done.
- 8:08Keri Croft: Do you know that whenever I do a photo shoot, I do an open leg like that?
- 8:11Keri Croft: Yeah, which you should.
- 8:12Keri Croft: Always.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 8:13Keri Croft: Always.
- 8:14Keri Croft: Just because I can.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: As you should.
- 8:15Keri Croft: And I can do this too.
- 8:16Keri Croft: I can do whatever I want.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: But to understand that it's a choice and not.
- 8:20Keri Croft: Like be a lady, be demure and pristine and kind of.
- 8:23Keri Croft: It's like, I mean, yeah, and and from someone like me who my DNA isn't that.
- 8:29Keri Croft: I was born very much a rebel, marched my own drum.
- 8:32Keri Croft: I was kind of like this from the beginning.
- 8:34Keri Croft: Yes.
- 8:34Keri Croft: I can't imagine.
- 8:36Keri Croft: Right, but but I know that I'm in a very select group.
- 8:39Keri Croft: I think the masses from a female perspective didn't, you know, and even I I feel it, you know, but I'm always just like, but most people aren't.
- 8:47Keri Croft: You know, you need to be like this shame thing, and like it's it's a I mean, it's crazy the suppression.
- 8:53Keri Croft: It's crazy.
- 8:54Keri Croft: So people like you are so important.
- 8:56Keri Croft: Well, let's start with the basics.
- 8:57Keri Croft: Is so it's clitoris clitoris, it's tomato tomato.
- 9:00Keri Croft: It is tomato tomato.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: Okay, so it's just clitoris.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: I happen to say clitoris, but you aren't allowed to say clitoris.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: You say clitoris, I say clitoris.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 9:08Keri Croft: You say clitoris, I say clitoris.
- 9:10Keri Croft: Right.
- 9:10Keri Croft: So, okay, so I wasn't sure if that was like a right or wrong.
- 9:13Keri Croft: And then clit, I'm glad you asked, is a very is that appropriate or is that too slang?
- 9:17Keri Croft: I think it is appropriate.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: I think we should be comfortable calling our genitals whatever we want.
- 9:22Keri Croft: Even if it's poo na na na na.
- 9:25Keri Croft: If it is that.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: Have you heard that song?
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: I have not.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: Okay, so you need to.
- 9:29Keri Croft: I will I need for you.
- 9:31Keri Croft: You're very proper.
- 9:32Keri Croft: But I think you got a freak inside too, like we all do.
- 9:34Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 9:34Keri Croft: There is this trend right now on TikTok that is living.
- 9:38Keri Croft: When I say living rent-free in my head, I can't get it.
- 9:40Keri Croft: It's it's taken over everything.
- 9:43Keri Croft: Her name is Princess Dolly something.
- 9:45Keri Croft: But anyway, she's talking about her got them going crazy for that poon nah.
- 9:50Keri Croft: Okay.
- 9:51Keri Croft: Like it's it is such a great trend.
- 9:53Keri Croft: It's so fantastic.
- 9:55Keri Croft: Right.
- 9:55Keri Croft: Which you could you would probably deem a pro- I mean, this is we should be able to call it whatever.
- 9:58Keri Croft: Hoo-ha.
- 9:59Keri Croft: We should.
- 10:00Keri Croft: But here's what I would say.
- 10:01Keri Croft: Yes, all of those things.
- 10:02Keri Croft: Positive things.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: Well, here's the thing that we do, and it's different for women and men.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: So, what women do is that we refer to every single thing in our genitals as the what do we say?
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: What would you say?
- 10:13Keri Croft: Vagina.
- 10:14Keri Croft: Right.
- 10:14Keri Croft: But it's not all the vagina.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: None of it is, actually.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: The vagina is your birth canal.
- 10:19Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: The vagina is a sperm.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: Is a sperm repository.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: No, good Lord.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: That's all it is.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: I love you.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: It's a muscular canal.
- 10:28Keri Croft: Can you say that again?
- 10:29Keri Croft: Sperm repository.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: Did you hear that?
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: Your vagine is a sperm repository.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: And it's okay if you say things in jest.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: But what really is the problem is that when we refer to everything in our genitals as the vagina, we flatten and minimize our sexual organ.
- 10:46Keri Croft: We need a whole new name.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: Well, we need the name.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: The name is the vulva.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: I know no one's heard of it.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: No one says it.
- 10:54Keri Croft: The vulva is like not exactly.
- 10:55Keri Croft: We need we need someone to like urban urban up the vulva.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Okay, but you have parts.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: You have the clitoris.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: You could just call it the clitoris.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: The vulva is everything that your external genitalia, everything you can see is the vulva.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: So there is a psychologist, Harriet Lerner, and she has some great quotes.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: And she's written about this subject and others for years.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: So what she says is um what does she say?
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: Basically, if the thing that we don't name, like there's no better way to make something unspeakable than to not name it.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: What is not named does not exist.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: That is what we have done to the clitoris.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: So when you look at the anatomical homologues, and this is why I said the clitoris.
- 11:30Keri Croft: Oh, you're talking dirty to me now.
- 11:32Keri Croft: All these big words.
- 11:32Keri Croft: Yes.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: Anatomical homologues.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: And I'm gonna show you this picture because I think there's no way to explain this.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, get it, girl.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Get your props out.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: I have to show you this.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: I don't know a better way to show it.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: I know let's do this.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: This will explain it in a second.
- 11:47unknown: Okay.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: Oh wow.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right?
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Like the light bulb goes off.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: The clitoris and the penis are exactly the same.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: These are anatomical homologues, and when you see this, you cannot unsee it ever again.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: So what we don't understand, and this is something men don't understand and women don't understand.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: We believe that as women, we are supposed to be sexually satisfied with vaginal penetration.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: And I'm just talking s you know, this gendered non, you know, heterosexual sex.
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: But either way, we are brought up as women to believe that we are supposed to have satisfaction with vaginal penetration.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: But guess what?
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: Our vagina is not our sexual organ, our clitoris is.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: So the tip of the clitoris is right here.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: And this is what we see on the outside of our bodies.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: But the rest of the organ is internal.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: But embryologically, these structures are all exactly the same.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: So it when you're a child in utero, when you're a fetus, we are all phenotypically female.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: So we're born and we're all female until the end of the first trimester.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: If you are an XY baby, testosterone floods a uterus, and this structure grows into that structure.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: No shit.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: I was today years old.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: And how I was 2018 years old.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:00Keri Croft: So it's not the size of a pea.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: It isn't.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: And it's not just this little tiny thing there.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: So you have now imagine you can remember, you can think about your own body.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: You got this shaft.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: It's underneath all the tissue of what we call your mons, and you can feel it, right?
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: That's where all your dorsal clitoral nerves travel.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: So you have, yes, this very sensitive external tip, and then you have the prepuce, which is the foreskin, which you pull back just like the men.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: And then you have the shaft.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: And then you have four legs, and so do men.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: Okay, so we have four legs to insert into our pelvic floor and to surround the vaginal canal.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Not in your labium majority, but internal.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Anyway, they surround your vaginal canal.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: So right here at the confluence of the four legs of the clitoris is your G spot.
- 13:42Keri Croft: There she is.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: And all it is is where you tickle the clitoris from the inside.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: I'll show it to you on a little bit.
- 13:49Keri Croft: Oh, yeah, we want to go.
- 13:50Keri Croft: Let's zoom in on the G spot.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: I knew I had a penis in there somewhere.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Well, that's so.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: When I talk about this, I always say the penis is just a big clitoris.
- 14:00Keri Croft: That's right.
- 14:00Keri Croft: That's amazing.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Okay, so here's a better example.
- 14:03Keri Croft: Oh my god.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: So these are velva, they're called Volva puppets.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: And you can order them from women who make them in Poland.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: All very Etsy oriented.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: But anyway, so here you have the vaginal canal.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: We all know where that is.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: This we know.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: But what we don't know is this is your urethra, where you urinate.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: So they are separate holes, they are separate orifices.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: And then the clitoris is right here.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: This is the little tip that we see on the outside.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: This is where the shaft would be.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: This is the little foreskin that we would pull up and back.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: And then this is the entire structure.
- 14:30Keri Croft: I feel like we all need one of those.
- 14:32Keri Croft: I know.
- 14:32Keri Croft: You know what, ladies, you can get this for your man.
- 14:35Keri Croft: This is looking for the looking for the perfect holiday gift.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: Look no further.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: That's a great idea.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: So if you were looking for the G spot, you would take your finger.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: There are a lot, I will tell you, a lot of people are looking for the G spot.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: I know I don't know a lot of things, but I know that to be true.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: No.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: And the G spot is histologically, it that means like the cells have been dissected to s to actually say, you know what, there's no different histology in your vaginal canal that is the G spot.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: But what it is is the confluence of the four legs of the clitoris.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: So this is this huge organ in your pelvis.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: It actually is as big as a penis.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: It's it's seven to eleven centimeters and can go up to 14 centimeters big from the tip to the edge, you know.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: So it's huge.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: I have so many thoughts.
- 15:17Keri Croft: I know.
- 15:17Keri Croft: I know so many thoughts on that.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: So it gets engorged just like the size thing.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: Size matters.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: It gets engorged just like a penis.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: It's literally a penis.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: So or the clitoris, I would say a penis is just a clitoris.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: That's what I like to say.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: This is amazing.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: And here's the sad part like we don't know this as kids.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: So we are taught, even I, when my kids were young, would, if I wanted to be anatomically correct, would say, boys have a penis, girls have a vagina.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it's not true.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: It is not true.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: Boys have a penis and girls have a clitoris.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: But I have never once heard a single parent or doctor ever say that.
- 15:51Keri Croft: So don't you think we need another word though?
- 15:55Keri Croft: Because if there's I feel like, well, I feel like there's multiple parts to this.
- 15:59Keri Croft: There are multiple parts.
- 16:00Keri Croft: So could there be like this massive But it's called vulva.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: I know you don't like that word.
- 16:04Keri Croft: So vulva is all the parts together.
- 16:07Keri Croft: All the parts.
- 16:07Keri Croft: Cool.
- 16:08Keri Croft: Understandativity.
- 16:09Keri Croft: I just think like with anything else, we think of a we think of like a slang term for it that's positive.
- 16:14Keri Croft: We need like a a like a badass.
- 16:16Keri Croft: You're attacking a name for like the whole thing.
- 16:19Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 16:20Keri Croft: Somebody out there can think of it.
- 16:21Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 16:21Keri Croft: We we could.
- 16:22Keri Croft: We're going to.
- 16:23Keri Croft: I think this is going to be the breakthrough.
- 16:25Keri Croft: Someone get back with us.
- 16:26Keri Croft: No, somebody will.
- 16:27Keri Croft: We're going to do a poll.
- 16:28Keri Croft: Give us the best name for all.
- 16:30Keri Croft: Well, first of all, I mean, hello.
- 16:32Keri Croft: Did anybody else know this?
- 16:33Keri Croft: That there's all these parts.
- 16:35Keri Croft: It's so crazy.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: So here's what has happened in my practice.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: So my patients would come in for this vaginal rejuvenation procedure.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: They would call the office and say that they needed that procedure.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: They wouldn't use the name because they're just kind of giggling and embarrassed.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: And they didn't want to say that they needed it for vaginal dryness or urine or um sexual sensation.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: They would say they would call for urine leakage.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: For them, that was a socially acceptable reason, medical reason to call.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: Then we would get in and get down to the nitty-gritty, and it would come up that they just wanted to have more sensation with intercourse and they weren't able to orgasm.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: And then it would come up that they felt broken because they couldn't orgasm.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: And then it came up that they thought that they had to orgasm through vaginal penetration.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: Like they didn't realize that their clitoris needed to be involved.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: They didn't understand their clitoris.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: They didn't know where their clitoris was for many of my patients.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: And they never would have thought of masturbating.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: So you've got a range of women who do know and a range of women who don't.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: But the problem is many, even women who knew where their clitoris was, felt they were broken because they weren't orgasming with vaginal penetration.
- 17:31Keri Croft: Oh, there's a lot of broken women out there then.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: Well, it's not anatomically.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: No.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: It's not an anatomical, like we don't orgasm with vaginal penetration.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: You can, but it usually involves clitoral stimulation being really involved at first.
- 17:45Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 17:45Keri Croft: I know a couple women, few and far between.
- 17:47Keri Croft: A couple moments in time, possibly, but no.
- 17:49Keri Croft: That is not the temperature.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: So when you look at it, it's maybe four percent of women can orgasm with vaginal penetration alone.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: Great.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Great for them.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: Damn you.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: But the majority of women that don't have an orgasm with vaginal penetration, they require clitoral stimulation, which makes sense, right?
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: There's no man ever that has come into my office saying, you know, I'm rubbing my legs so hard and I just cannot get an erection.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: No man ever has said that because they know they have to rub their penis, but women don't have the same knowledge.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: And then men don't have the same knowledge.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: And I'm not like trashing men.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: Studies show that men are very invested in their partner's pleasure.
- 18:24Keri Croft: Oh, yeah.
- 18:24Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: They just don't know.

- 20:00Keri Croft: Because what's that one book that came out in the last like five years?
- 20:04Keri Croft: What's it called?
- 20:04Keri Croft: She comes first or something?
- 20:05Keri Croft: She comes first.
- 20:06Keri Croft: So did you read it?
- 20:07Keri Croft: Oh, yeah.
- 20:07Keri Croft: Was that book helpful, like scale of one to ten?
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: She yes.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: I think those I think every book that has to do with female sexual function, you will find nuggets and pearls in it.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: She comes first was written by Ian Kerner, and he is a psychologist who really had premature ejaculation.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: And then he just developed a method of oral sex, of giving oral sex so that his partner was pleasured, so that he could then, you know, not beast.
- 20:30Keri Croft: Yeah, just like whatever happens, happens.
- 20:31Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: And then he just wrote this great book.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Pretty genius.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: And actually that book, so I think maybe the book you're talking about is the one by Emily Nagoski that just came out like five years ago.
- 20:41Keri Croft: I think she comes first is what I was thinking.
- 20:43Keri Croft: Okay.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: So he wrote that like 40 years ago.
- 20:45Keri Croft: Well, then maybe not.
- 20:46Keri Croft: There was one at least, maybe it resurfaced again.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: It it's I feel like it's resurfaced, but it still sells tons of copies.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:54Keri Croft: Good for the man who actually takes the time to read a book about that.
- 20:58Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 20:58Keri Croft: Good for you.
- 20:59Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: No, I agree.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: And I think I think what my whole point in like talking about this, I talk to both women and men, but I think I'm really interested in talking to women because I think the key to us having a better sex life and releasing that shame that we've internalized our entire lives is up to us.
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: I really believe that we have hold the key to both becoming, you know, comfortable with our sexuality and embracing the fact that we are sexual beings.
- 21:25Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 21:25Keri Croft: No, I couldn't agree more.
- 21:26Keri Croft: I mean, I do I do think there will be more women than not listening to this, you know, thinking, yeah, like I just kind of put my pleasure on the backseat.
- 21:36Keri Croft: We do it.
- 21:37Keri Croft: He gets to do his thing.
- 21:38Keri Croft: That's right.
- 21:38Keri Croft: And I sort of like go along for the ride and that's right.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: So this is so when I was raised, very traditional Indian household, I grew up believing very much what I think a lot of women are taught that we should not embrace our sexuality because otherwise we would be, you know, considered sluts.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: If we as women embrace our sexuality, you're looking at me like you don't, like you didn't have that upbringing.
- 21:58Keri Croft: Oh no, I'm with you.
- 21:59Keri Croft: I feel you.
- 21:59Keri Croft: Okay.
- 22:01Keri Croft: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: So I feel like men are judged, you know, because they need to have a lot of sexual experiences in order to be called studs, but women are persecuted if they embrace their sexuality.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: And to embrace our sexuality without shame has to be something we unlearn.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: Like we have to learn how to do that because we have to unlearn all the messages.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: And I think what that, you know, when we can do that as women, it's literally we have to unlearn it.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: I think that it can, we can stop feeling like sex is a transaction because really, when you think about it, I felt that my sexuality or my virginity was going to be a gift that I was going to give to my husband.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: And that that was something he would take from me.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: But that's very transactional.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: It's not a mutual exchange of pleasure, connection, warmth, intimacy.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: It has nothing to do with that.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: It's very transactional.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: But I grew up thinking that.
- 22:46Keri Croft: It's such a power play, too.
- 22:47Keri Croft: Yeah, but I think if we didn't have that thought, it's the narrative.
- 22:51Keri Croft: It's like the narrative you're this precious flower.
- 22:53Keri Croft: That's exactly right.
- 22:54Keri Croft: This, you know, man gets to come along and he gets to take this thing from you.
- 22:58Keri Croft: And you are you're this chosen one to give him this thing.
- 23:02Keri Croft: No.
- 23:02Keri Croft: No.
- 23:03Keri Croft: No, no.
- 23:04Keri Croft: Mixed.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: But I had that vaginal rejuvenation procedure in 2008.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: I was gonna ask you if you'd done it.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: I do everything I get in my office.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: I was not having a lot of the pre-symptoms, so I didn't have a ton of urine leakage or vaginal dryness.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: But who would not want to have more sensation within our had the procedure?
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: And what happened after it was very profound and not something I expected.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: Number one, the procedure worked.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: Okay, great.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: So what it does, it stimulates collagen so that your vaginal canal regenerated like the tissue in it, and you have more blood flow, you have more lubrication.
- 23:36SPEAKER_01: But what happened after the procedure is I knew that it was going to change my sensation with intercourse over six weeks to six months.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: I just knew that there was this whole time frame that things were going to remodel.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: So I went into every intimate encounter with my husband with this weirdly different mindset that I had not predicted.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: I went in with this presence of like, I wonder what this is gonna feel like.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Does that feel good?
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: Is this feeling different?
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: And it totally transformed my approach to intimacy with him.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: And I have to say, I can't really recall being much of an instigator with sex in our marriage prior to this.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: I thought it was his thing.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: It was great.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: I have to just say, we had a great sex life.
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: My husband wants to make sure I say that.
- 24:13Keri Croft: What's your husband's name?
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: Which one?
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: What's your husband's name?
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: Don.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: Don.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: All right, Don, we did it.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: Noted Don.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: A big stud you.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: Right, exactly.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: But what changed was my approach.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: So I became present, I became communicative, I became playful, I became that shame narrative I had.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: And it was unintentional.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: I just lost it because you couldn't keep it when you were so present in your body, and then you were just like communicating, and then all of a sudden it was so fun.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: And then, of course, you're not a slut.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: And I don't know, it was just a weird subconscious shift.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: And once it shifted, I like, I will tell you that I felt so much more empowered.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: And this sounds odd to me to say it out loud because I was a confident person anyway.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: I had my own business.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: I had all the things that you think were going to make you.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: I don't think I really knew that embracing your sexuality as a woman, if you release shame, you are going to feel more empowered.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: I just felt so much more empowered.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: I started to put down boundaries with family and friends, change things at work, felt more confident in my business decisions.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: Like everything just rolled into place.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: And I thought this is what can happen when you release shame.
- 25:12Keri Croft: And man, was Don a beneficiary?
- 25:15unknown: That's right.
- 25:15Keri Croft: He's at home shaking his head like, that's right, girl.
- 25:18Keri Croft: That's my girl.
- 25:19Keri Croft: I don't know that he even noticed.
- 25:20Keri Croft: It was such an internal, like, I get it.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: Don noticed.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: That's what I want for all women because I think that we are raised with these strict socialized feelings of shame.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: There's just now is your mom still alive?
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 25:35Keri Croft: How does she because culturally too?
- 25:37Keri Croft: I feel like possibly there was even more conventional, strictly, you know, very much.
- 25:43Keri Croft: Um, even more than I probably dealt with being just this, you know, Caucasian girl in Lima who was running wild in the streets, right?
- 25:50Keri Croft: So you probably had that and then some.
- 25:52Keri Croft: I did.
- 25:53Keri Croft: What does she think about with your career and like you talking about this?
- 25:57Keri Croft: Yes.
- 25:57Keri Croft: Is she like preach or is she like, oh, I don't know.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: Like is deeply happy that I'm doing it, but I gave this lecture to my entire Indian community in Dayton.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: So I thought it was gonna be people my age and women.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: It ended up being that and the next generation, my mom's generation.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: All my aunties and uncles from like growing up, they were all there too.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: That's amazing.
- 26:17SPEAKER_01: And so I gave this lecture.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: And what was so amazing is that the her generation, they're the ones that came up to me so grateful afterwards, saying, I just wish I had known this my entire life.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: I just just so glad that you're speaking about this.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: And my mom was right there with them.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: So yeah, no, she's very supportive.
- 26:34Keri Croft: That's awesome.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: She understands, and they understand that they could only know what they knew.
- 26:39Keri Croft: Yeah, but no, right.
- 26:40Keri Croft: Yeah, but it's so crazy to me.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: It is so crazy.
- 26:43Keri Croft: What I've just learned is so crazy to me.
- 26:44Keri Croft: I'm like, my mind's kind of blown a little bit.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: I know that we are.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna show you one other photo because I think it also it shows you what how deeply ingrained our biases are.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, okay.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: Look, look at this.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: This is the side view of the human body for women.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: This is the side view.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: I had to add in the clitoris because it's not on diagrams.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Welcome, Sylvia.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Come on in.
- 27:05Keri Croft: We're looking at the clitoris, so don't get awkward.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: Clitoris in the side view, okay.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: And then this is a really great uh, but anyway, this what I wanted to show you was this other thing.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: I gotta show you it.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, sorry, that's okay.
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: You might have to delete that of your thing.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: This is an MRI of the clitoris, which is so cool, showing you all the blood flow.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: And anyway, this is an MRI of the clitoris before and after Viagra.
- 27:24Keri Croft: In this case, we can take Viagra.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: Well, you can, and but a lot of the clinical studies were not definitive enough.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: So they didn't release Viagra for women.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: But in any case, there was an MRI study that showed how your clitoris expands and engorges with blood, just like the penis.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: And absolutely, especially if your sexual dysfunction is related to a lack of blood flow, this would help.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: Anyway, okay, that's not what I wanted to show you.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Sorry, I this is keep going.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, this.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: This, if you recognize it in middle school or maybe elementary school, you get your anatomy of the human body, sex ed.
- 27:58SPEAKER_01: You get for men, penis, testicles, for women, you get vagina, uterus, ovaries.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: Nowhere on here is the clitoris, which is our sexual organ.
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: It's literally missing from the diagrams.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: Okay, so watch this.
- 28:14Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 28:14unknown: It's not.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: It's not?
- 28:15Keri Croft: Oh, wait, yes, it is.
- 28:16unknown: I'm sorry.
- 28:18Keri Croft: She's crazy.
- 28:20SPEAKER_01: She's gonna do the public again.
- 28:30Keri Croft: Oh my god, I love you so much.
- 28:32Keri Croft: I'm so glad that was that was that was literally our dynamic captured on film.
- 28:39Keri Croft: I just lost all of the all of the blood from my head all the way to my toes.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: Okay, we could do this again.
- 28:44SPEAKER_01: I can talk about this on the I'm fine.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: Anyway, I feel like this diagram is if this was what you had learned when you were 11, the clitoris is no big deal.
- 28:54Keri Croft: It's right there.
- 28:55Keri Croft: It's like you're not allowed to know about it or something, or they just don't like again, shame.
- 28:58Keri Croft: Yes.
- 28:59Keri Croft: Shame, shame, shame.
- 29:01Keri Croft: Yes, that.
- 29:03Keri Croft: But that's such a great So have they revised that?
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: No.
- 29:06SPEAKER_01: Are you serious?
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, are you kidding me?
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: No one's gonna put that anywhere.
- 29:09SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 29:10SPEAKER_01: Because it you know, um, it's sad.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: Patriarchal structures that are in place to control women, and that starts from a young age, and it starts when you look at that sadly, female genital mutilation, which is FGM, is the removal of the clitoris and the clitoral structures.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: It's millions and millions of women have had this happen around the world.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: And that is a surgical clitoridectomy, right?
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: They do it to control women, but we are doing it in a way that is linguistic and psychological.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: So we are basically committing a psychological clitoridectomy because we are not allowed to say the word, we are not allowed to know about it, we are as women not allowed to have our own pleasure, and what that's what we're doing in this country.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: I'm not, you know, minimizing what happens in other countries, but what we're doing is could be called similar.
- 29:58Keri Croft: I mean, so so truly, like, is anyone trying to get that out there?
- 30:03Keri Croft: No, like get it changed on the medical like so if you go to like med school right now.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's so this is what's happening.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: What's frustrating is that yes, people are trying to change it.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: There's an advocate named Jessica Pinn, and she was 18 when she had her labia minora excise, so the inner lips of the labia.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: She was told by her gynecologist that hers were long, so she had surgery to cut them at that surgery.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: And so labioplasty is one of the fastest growing cosmetic procedures.
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: And the reason it's growing so much now is because the advent of like the digital age where women can see what uh maybe label labioplasty pornographic image is and they want it to look like all cleaned up, so to speak, and they don't really know that everything is normal, that what they have is normal.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: But anyway, Jessica had this treatment and she developed during that treatment.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: If you excise the labia minora, you are very, very close to the nerves that then innervate the clitoris, so she was unable to orgasm after that and has had chronic pain ever since.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: So she's a huge advocate.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: She's had 18 different textbooks changed in um medical schools.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: Um she ended up just she's still an advocate.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: She's 25 years later, she's still working on this.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: The problem is the education isn't changing, as you know, referenced by my daughter and my son who'd graduated two years ago from medical school.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: Nobody knows about the clitoris.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: It's a completely it's just it's just, it's not taught, it's not emphasized, it's not in consent forms.
- 31:27SPEAKER_01: When you're having a surgical procedure, every time I give this lecture, I have a woman come up to me or call me or contact me later telling me their tragic story, pain after a procedure or inability to orgasm after a procedure that they had that they weren't even aware that they could possibly have a change in their sexual function after the procedure.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: So I'll give you an example of a procedure that you would never think this is going to affect my sexual function, um, a lumbar spinal fusion.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: Like you're like, okay, that's far away from my clitoris.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: But it is a well-known complication for the lumbar spinal fusion that men can then experience erectile dysfunction or retrograde ejaculation with that procedure.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: So all the surgeons are taught exactly how to prevent that.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: They don't, they don't know anything about how to present prevent complete inability to have an orgasm.
- 32:11SPEAKER_01: Complete erectile dysfunction for women.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: It's the exact same thing, and they're not taught it.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: So I had a woman tell me she completely lost her ability to orgasm 10 years ago when she had the procedure and she asked her surgeon, he said it's unrelated, and he's not lying.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: He has literally no idea, he's never been taught.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: I have patients tell me they've had a vulvar biopsy, chronic pain in their clitoris, or they've had labioplasty and they completely cannot have an orgasm, or they've had urethal sling procedures.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: Even abdominal plasty, if you just are having abdominal plasty, you think, okay, whatever, but they're cutting right above your, like right where your mons pubis is, which is the nerves to your clitoris, are very close to that.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: It's just that nobody is teaching and talking about it.
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: The textbooks have some, have been changed, but it's not being taught.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: Appalling.
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: But yeah.
- 32:52Keri Croft: Like it's not even an afterthought.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: It's not even a thought.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: And so you have, like, I, in my research, there's so much data about this over the last hundred years.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: And yet it's like over and over again, it's like we don't we aren't learning this.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: There was this woman named Cher Heid who was a feminist advocate in the 1970s, and she did her doctorate on female sexual function.
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: And she wrote this book called The Height Report, and it was published, and it sold 50 million copies.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: It was the third largest selling book of all time.
- 33:25SPEAKER_01: She was on every podcast, every not podcast, every talk show.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: She was very prominent, and it sold 50 million copies.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: And all it really said was, you know, women don't orgasm through vaginal penetration, they need clerical stimulation.
- 33:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, it said a lot more than that, but it basically talked about women's female sexuality, women being sexual beings, women know how to pleasure themselves, women have a right to have their own sexual pleasure.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: And every woman bought the book and loved it, right?
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: Because they finally felt validated because they've been taught by Freud, who basically said that the great male thrust is the only way for women to have orgasms.
- 33:57SPEAKER_01: And if you have an orgasm and uh you're unable to have an orgasm through vaginal penetration and the great male thrust, then you are considered frigid, which was a medical diagnosis until not too long ago.
- 34:08Keri Croft: Okay.
- 34:09Keri Croft: So, first of all, the great male thrust has what you're sending me.
- 34:13Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 34:13Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 34:13Keri Croft: How have I never heard that?
- 34:15Keri Croft: Oh, yeah.
- 34:15Keri Croft: No, well documented.
- 34:16Keri Croft: Because yeah, okay, a lot of thoughts there.
- 34:18Keri Croft: And then secondly, the word frigid.
- 34:20Keri Croft: How dare ye?
- 34:21Keri Croft: Diagnosed.
- 34:22Keri Croft: How dare ye?
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: We we have people that were diagnosed with the word frigid that were diagnosed with that who are alive today because it's I mean, it is just a pause.
- 34:32Keri Croft: All of this has been.
- 34:33Keri Croft: I feel like I need to sign start a petition or something.
- 34:35Keri Croft: I don't know.
- 34:36Keri Croft: I've got to courthouse I can go to with my gold, like clitoris.
- 34:42Keri Croft: I'm like, what in the fuck is happening?
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: Okay, so Cher Heights out there, everybody knows 50 million copies.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: Then she's it's like all her information was like lost because no one knows this.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: I'm literally telling my patients, my friends, explaining this is how sex works.
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: It's like the knowledge just isn't there.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: And there have been movies and documentaries, and it's like, I don't know, it's like screaming from the rooftops.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: And I think but Carrie, you're doing the right thing.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, you're trying to get the word out.
- 35:08Keri Croft: We will we will put this on the mic any any day of the week.
- 35:11Keri Croft: Now, are you coming to the IRL?
- 35:13Keri Croft: I am.
- 35:13Keri Croft: Oh, thank God.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 35:15Keri Croft: So I feel like I feel like we need to like I need to have like a little, you need you need to do like a little commercial or something.
- 35:22Keri Croft: Okay.
- 35:22Keri Croft: I can do it.
- 35:23Keri Croft: Either that or I've already got it.
- 35:24Keri Croft: I can do it.
- 35:24Keri Croft: We'll we'll talk about that because I want people to really understand like who you are and like what the deal is when they're there.
- 35:30Keri Croft: Because I mean you've got a lot of clitoris, clitorises.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, either one.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: Clits.
- 35:34Keri Croft: Both of vulvas there.
- 35:37Keri Croft: Um and and it'll be a huge captive audience for you.
- 35:39Keri Croft: I'm so excited that you're coming.
- 35:40Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 35:41Keri Croft: That'll be fantastic.
- 35:42Keri Croft: Um, okay.
- 35:42Keri Croft: Anything else before we wrap up that you'll be like, oh my gosh, I can't believe I didn't say this.
- 35:49Keri Croft: Um I mean, I didn't even get to anything else about you.
- 35:52Keri Croft: But I mean, I think this was, I think we, you know, and I know you have some deep water that you've traveled in grief-wise, and you know, a lot of things.
- 35:58Keri Croft: We you can we can bring you back on a next episode.
- 36:00Keri Croft: I think this I love that.
- 36:02Keri Croft: This is like this really project.
- 36:04Keri Croft: I know let's consider this layer one of Nina Deep.
- 36:08Keri Croft: And we can have you back on to talk about some other stuff too.
- 36:11Keri Croft: Because I mean, I just I am fascinated in the in the worst way because this is not okay.
- 36:15Keri Croft: So I feel like we need we need a shirt.
- 36:18Keri Croft: You need more merch.
- 36:19Keri Croft: My ideas are just swirling, they're spinning.
- 36:21Keri Croft: Thank God we're recording.
- 36:23Keri Croft: Thank you.
- 36:25Keri Croft: So for this job, Carrie, I leave it in your hands.
- 36:27Keri Croft: Oh my god.
- 36:28Keri Croft: Well, thank you so much for coming.
- 36:29Keri Croft: Thank you.
- 36:29Keri Croft: This has been very enlightening.
- 36:31Keri Croft: I cannot wait to see you at the IRL.
- 36:32Keri Croft: Yeah, I'm gonna be there.
- 36:33Keri Croft: And if you're still out there following your girl, follow me on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, or wherever you get your podcast.
- 36:38Keri Croft: And until next time, keep moving, baby.
