- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the garage.
- 0:30It's very early, dark and a little rainy, so I am in the
- 0:33garage now. Let's do a little bit of a talk
- 0:37about purpose because that comes up a lot this time of the year
- 0:40when people are finishing up and looking for the new goals and
- 0:43everything. Sometimes this conversation gets
- 0:45really in depth and it goes into purpose, like what is my
- 0:48purpose? What am I here for?
- 0:50That is a very, very big question, my friends.
- 0:53And it's a question that's hard to answer all in one thing.
- 0:57Now, there are some people who are here and they appear, let
- 1:01me, I'm air quoting this. They appear to know their
- 1:04purpose 100% straightforward. Like Mother Teresa, no denying
- 1:09her purpose on this planet was to go out and give love and
- 1:14provide people with hope and to care for others.
- 1:18She did that in a multitude of ways.
- 1:21OK, Now this is the part that I really want to emphasize.
- 1:25She did it in a multitude of ways.
- 1:27And being an adult, sometimes it's difficult for us to say,
- 1:32OK, am I on purpose? Because we want more than one
- 1:35things. We have conflicting outcomes, we
- 1:37have conflicting ideas. And sometimes it just seems to
- 1:41nothing seems to align as it should on paper.
- 1:46And guess what? That is OK because as you're,
- 1:50when you're a little person and you, you have thoughts of what
- 1:53you want to do that excite you. Those threads will stay with you
- 1:57in some way, shape or form if you allow them to be remembered,
- 2:01if you allow them to be accessible again, like I can
- 2:05tell you right from the beginning, and I've said this on
- 2:07this podcast before, I always wanted to be a teacher.
- 2:10I, that was just my desire was to be a teacher.
- 2:14I would go to school all day. I would come home, I would sit
- 2:17down, do my homework and then go play school.
- 2:19And it was just, it's hard for my parents to understand my
- 2:23father, especially, as I've said before, because he did not want
- 2:26me to be a civil servant under no circumstances.
- 2:29So I had to deal with those things, but I was little and I
- 2:33didn't understand it. So I but I'm ultimately
- 2:36responsible for my own life and my own beliefs.
- 2:38And so I went about it and figured out a way to do all of
- 2:41this. And part of this is
- 2:44understanding that happiness is a part of life.
- 2:47But happiness is such a hard word.
- 2:49And we've turned it into such a commercial word.
- 2:51It's hard for us to understand it.
- 2:52So it's like, find your purpose and you'll be happy.
- 2:55I'm sorry, it's not that simple. It's it's finding your purpose
- 3:00over and over and over again as your purpose morphs and becomes
- 3:04more, because that's what human beings are supposed to be doing,
- 3:09being creative, being imaginative, morphing, growing.
- 3:13If you just got to your one destination, you're going to
- 3:17want to improve, you're going to want to go further, you're going
- 3:19to want to do more. And that's what it's supposed to
- 3:22be. That's how it's supposed to
- 3:24work. So it is your life's purpose,
- 3:28the key to to peace and joy and happiness and all of that good
- 3:31stuff. It's yes, and it's a yes and
- 3:35moment, but it's also about understanding that morphs, that
- 3:39moves as you grow and you learn more.
- 3:42And so accepting that fact is really important.
- 3:45And you are responsible to constantly be checking back to
- 3:49that thread, that piece, that one little desire that shows up
- 3:53over and over again because we have to discover, we have to
- 3:56dedicate ourselves to that creativity.
- 3:59I'm going through this right now because as part of my happiness,
- 4:04part of my key, I've said all along is being able to teach.
- 4:08And I do that through a multitude of ways, through
- 4:12words, through books, through photos, through farming.
- 4:15I, I'd find all these fascinating little ways that
- 4:18excite me because they're part of that thread and I can do it.
- 4:22And now I'm expanding it again this year.
- 4:24OK, what else is there that's exciting me?
- 4:27Where are these little threads that I can pull on to pull
- 4:31myself into it and say, yes, this seems like something that
- 4:35is really part of that process. And for me, it's all about
- 4:40examining yourself over and over again.
- 4:44I mean, some people seem to figure it out right away very
- 4:46quickly. And some people take a long time
- 4:49and they finally reach that point where they clicks and
- 4:52boom, you know, I, I feel it. But I have a very strong belief,
- 4:58having worked with so many people over the years, that when
- 5:01you go back and you start just asking simple questions like
- 5:04what did I love to do when I was a kid?
- 5:06What are the things that I just loved?
- 5:08What lights me up then or what light lit me up then and what
- 5:11lights me up now? And then you can connect those
- 5:14that that wire, you can see it and say, ah, OK, there is the
- 5:18threat of something there. And I will tell you, it
- 5:21typically comes down to in some way, shape or form, whatever
- 5:26you're doing, it does touch other people.
- 5:28Now, that may not be right in front of your face, but it's
- 5:32pretty much always true. So figure out how am I really
- 5:36helping other people? And that might be the answer, my
- 5:39friends that you dig for. OK, my friends, I will see you
- 5:43all tomorrow and I hope you have a blessed day.
- 5:45Bye.
