2:40
Speaker 3: George and Kathy Thomas. Caitlin, good morning, Welcome to the show.
2:43
Speaker 6: Hey, good morning, thanks for having me back.
2:45
Speaker 3: You are the veteran of the show. Kathy's making her debut,
2:48
Speaker 3: but you've been on before, so you're old hand at
2:50
Speaker 3: this right. Oh yeah, definitely, you know what you're doing.
2:52
Speaker 6: Yeah, glad to have Kathy here with me though.
2:54
Speaker 3: All right, it's Kathy, good morning, welcome to the show.
2:56
Speaker 7: Thank you, so much.
2:57
Speaker 3: I hope the shows everything that you thought it would be.
2:59
Speaker 7: I'm sure it will.
3:01
Speaker 3: It's just keep your expectations lock, all right, So Caitlin
3:05
Speaker 3: tell us overall, and we'll get into specifics what's going
3:08
Speaker 3: on with the summit, the wins, the whares, the house, Yeah,
3:11
Speaker 3: all the details.
3:12
Speaker 6: Well, it is a twenty twenty five women's Leadership Summit,
3:16
Speaker 6: and this year our theme is powerful Voices, so women
3:19
Speaker 6: have truly become powerful voices in business and reshaping what
3:23
Speaker 6: leadership looks like in the twenty first century. So we
3:26
Speaker 6: are really excited about it in its seventh year, and
3:29
Speaker 6: it has turned into one of the chambers flagship events.
3:32
Speaker 6: Kathy Thomas is actually the one who launched the Women's
3:35
Speaker 6: Leadership Summit with the Chamber, so I'm gonna let her
3:38
Speaker 6: take it over.
3:38
Speaker 7: Go ahead, Ken, Yeah, I just thought it would be
3:41
Speaker 7: a great idea and it was something that the women
3:43
Speaker 7: of West Virginia need. So in twenty eighteen we started
3:48
Speaker 7: this at the Greenbrier. Initially it was in December. We've
3:52
Speaker 7: moved it to a March event this year. It's on
3:55
Speaker 7: March twenty sixth and twenty seventh at the Greenbrier. It's
3:59
Speaker 7: a two day event with lots of amazing speakers.
4:02
Speaker 3: All right, talked about some of those speakers.
4:04
Speaker 6: Yeah, we're excited. We have over two dozen expert speakers
4:08
Speaker 6: this year. Really excited for that. And again, it's all
4:11
Speaker 6: about using powerful voices. So we'll hear from experts and
4:14
Speaker 6: finance leadership, healthcare, architecture, career growth. And here's some inspiring
4:19
Speaker 6: West Virginia stories to highlight. A couple of the speakers,
4:24
Speaker 6: we have Jessica Lynch. She is a West Virginia native,
4:28
Speaker 6: retired US Army soldier and former prisoner of war. You know,
4:31
Speaker 6: I feel like a lot of West Virginians probably know
4:33
Speaker 6: her story.
4:34
Speaker 3: Absolutely.
4:35
Speaker 6: Yeah, it's actually been about twenty two years.
4:38
Speaker 3: Don't tell me that. That's the first thing. That's the
4:41
Speaker 3: first thing. When you mentioned her name, I was taking
4:43
Speaker 3: in my head. How long, agoes that. It's hard to
4:44
Speaker 3: believe it's been that long.
4:45
Speaker 6: Yeah, twenty two years. It was in two thousand and
4:48
Speaker 6: three when she was captured for nine days and then
4:51
Speaker 6: rescued in the first rescue or the first American PW
4:55
Speaker 6: rescue since World War Two. So we're excited about having her.
4:59
Speaker 6: She going to share her story of perseverance. We have
5:03
Speaker 6: Ali Smith, the first Lady of Marshall University, co founder
5:06
Speaker 6: Yes Gohard, co founder of the Wingdow Wing Foundation, and
5:10
Speaker 6: a lawyer. She's going to be motoring, moderating a discussion
5:14
Speaker 6: with women who've moved to West Virginia through Ascen West Virginia,
5:17
Speaker 6: and they're going to talk about not only finding a
5:19
Speaker 6: home in the mountain state, but also how they found community.
5:22
Speaker 3: So the backup on the US in West Virginia, I
5:24
Speaker 3: know what it is most of our listeners do, but
5:26
Speaker 3: just in case, explain thes in West Virginia to give
5:28
Speaker 3: me ten or fifteen seconds on that program.
5:30
Speaker 6: Yeah, as in West Virginia is a pilot program where
5:34
Speaker 6: remote workers were encouraged to come into the state. And
5:37
Speaker 6: I believe that they got some money for coming in
5:40
Speaker 6: and moving to West Virginia and working here. And it
5:43
Speaker 6: was all about live, working and playing in West Virginia
5:46
Speaker 6: and exploring the great outdoors. So I think, you know,
5:49
Speaker 6: the incentive to come to West Virginia you get money,
5:52
Speaker 6: you know, you get new home.
5:53
Speaker 8: And then when they got.
5:54
Speaker 6: There, I heard a lot of stories about how they
5:57
Speaker 6: started to become involved in their community and running for
5:59
Speaker 6: office and you know, in the PTA and volunteering. So
6:02
Speaker 6: hearing those stories just really inspired me being a transplant
6:05
Speaker 6: to West Virginia myself. You know, they really showed the
6:10
Speaker 6: good in West Virginia.
6:11
Speaker 3: All right, So we got Elie Smith and we got
6:13
Speaker 3: Jessica Lynch And you said over two dozen speakers. Yeah,
6:17
Speaker 3: I mean, I know you can't name them all, but
6:18
Speaker 3: give us a couple more.
6:19
Speaker 8: Yeah.
6:21
Speaker 6: Patrece Harris she broke barriers when she was elected as
6:25
Speaker 6: president of the American Medical Association from twenty twenty to
6:28
Speaker 6: twenty twenty one.
6:29
Speaker 7: So during COVID.
6:31
Speaker 6: She actually grew up in Bluefield, West Virginia, and has
6:34
Speaker 6: a deep connection to her roots. She was featured in
6:37
Speaker 6: Chamber magazine and she was telling the story about Sunday Suppers,
6:43
Speaker 6: which I mean a lot of that's a lot of
6:44
Speaker 6: family traditions and in West Virginia and beyond, and how
6:48
Speaker 6: important those Sunday Suppers were to her in shaping her
6:51
Speaker 6: life and then shaping her career and being a WU fan.
6:55
Speaker 6: And she's you know, on the w Board of Governors.
6:57
Speaker 6: So she is going to share her story and lessons
7:00
Speaker 6: learned from Sunday Supper.
7:02
Speaker 7: Excited to hear that.
7:04
Speaker 6: And we also have Deb Dagner, who is president of
7:07
Speaker 6: the Leadership Bridge. She is a certified professional coach with
7:11
Speaker 6: over twenty years of experience, and she'll be speaking about
7:15
Speaker 6: creating and shaping your leadership presence.
7:18
Speaker 3: I mean, it sounds like you got to again over
7:20
Speaker 3: two dozen speakers. Kathy, you were the one that I
7:23
Speaker 3: guess kind of got this thing up and rolling, as
7:25
Speaker 3: she said twenty eighteen, twenty eighteen. In twenty eighteen, obviously
7:30
Speaker 3: when you start things off, you want everything to be
7:32
Speaker 3: a success. I mean, did you dream though that it
7:34
Speaker 3: would get to be this big as well as well?
7:36
Speaker 7: Not the first year. My goal was one hundred attendees,
7:41
Speaker 7: and we got there the first year, and it's just
7:43
Speaker 7: grown every year since. Last year we surpassed five hundred
7:48
Speaker 7: and we actually had to move the event to the
7:50
Speaker 7: largest room of the Greenbrier.
7:52
Speaker 3: That's good stuff.
7:52
Speaker 7: So it has really grown and it's shaping up to
7:55
Speaker 7: be even bigger this year.
7:57
Speaker 3: Talking to Kathy Thomas and Caitlin George about the West

8:17
Speaker 3: Barbersville at Milton for more business snapfitness dot Com. Talk
8:21
Speaker 3: about who this is aimed at. I mean, obviously all
8:25
Speaker 3: women you know in a business world or wherever are
8:28
Speaker 3: invited to a tend But ideally, who's going to benefit
8:30
Speaker 3: Kathy or Kaylee the most from this?
8:33
Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it is everyone. We have high school students,
8:36
Speaker 7: we have college students, we have CEOs and retirees and
8:41
Speaker 7: people in the prom of their jobs right now. So
8:46
Speaker 7: it goes across everyone.
8:48
Speaker 3: And let's talk about those younger folks coming there, the
8:51
Speaker 3: high school and the and the college. How important is it,
8:55
Speaker 3: in your guys opinion, for those young young ladies to
8:59
Speaker 3: see women that have risen up to these levels and
9:03
Speaker 3: doing the great things, whether it's in the world of
9:05
Speaker 3: business or whatever. I mean to talk about the importance
9:08
Speaker 3: of them seeing that success.
9:11
Speaker 7: The Chamber and the Chamber Foundation together provide scholarships for
9:15
Speaker 7: college students and high school students from across the state.
9:19
Speaker 7: So last year, we had about thirty high school students
9:22
Speaker 7: at about twenty five college students through this mentorship program.
9:27
Speaker 7: And some of the girls were from McDowell County, and
9:31
Speaker 7: I mean, they were amazed to be there with all
9:33
Speaker 7: these women at the Greenbrier. They heard amazing stories. And
9:37
Speaker 7: we do a mentorship event while we're there, and we
9:40
Speaker 7: pull all of those students into a room with lots
9:43
Speaker 7: of women leaders and we see them. They've gotten scholarships,
9:48
Speaker 7: they've gotten jobs. A lot of things happen there. They
9:51
Speaker 7: have a lot of opportunities that they wouldn't have otherwise.
9:54
Speaker 3: All right, so give us the details on sign ups
9:58
Speaker 3: and deadlines and things of that nature, and you how
10:00
Speaker 3: do you do it, and when's the last moment to
10:02
Speaker 3: do it?
10:03
Speaker 6: I guess, yeah, Well there's still time, so that's a
10:05
Speaker 6: good news. You can go online on WV Chamber dot
10:09
Speaker 6: com and find out all the registration information, booking information,
10:13
Speaker 6: We have our agenda, we have a spot where you
10:16
Speaker 6: can meet and learn more about the speakers. So there's
10:18
Speaker 6: still time. And really we'll keep it open until a
10:21
Speaker 6: couple of days before the event. So even if you
10:24
Speaker 6: know you're just thinking now, well maybe I'm thinking about it.
10:27
Speaker 6: Maybe it's right for me. You have a couple more
10:30
Speaker 6: weeks to you know, really commit and we would.
10:34
Speaker 7: Love to have you.
10:35
Speaker 3: And the date again, The dates again.
10:37
Speaker 6: Yeah, the dates are March twenty sixth and twenty seventh
10:40

14:12
Speaker 3: Oh there's a new show.
14:13
Speaker 8: Yes, haven't you heard?

Speaker 3: Oh?
14:15
Speaker 8: Well, good I didn't know. It'll give us time to
14:16
Speaker 8: find somebody to do it.
14:18
Speaker 3: Somebody qualified. Fred, of course, referring to the announcement made
14:22
Speaker 3: on talk line on Friday that starting March twenty fourth,
14:24
Speaker 3: there will be a new show airing on a lot
14:28
Speaker 3: of the Metro news stations, a lot of the Metro
14:30
Speaker 3: news including this one from noon to three, Metro News
14:32
Speaker 3: Midday hosted by Amanda Baron from WOWK TV thirteen and
14:38
Speaker 3: seeing of course statewide on the show Tonight Live and
14:42
Speaker 3: Yours Truly. So somebody asked me the other day, Fred,
14:46
Speaker 3: what i'd still do the local show then out to
14:47
Speaker 3: tend Yes.
14:48
Speaker 8: Absolutely, it's radio.
14:50
Speaker 3: I mean they're paying me a crap ton of money.
14:53
Speaker 8: And what would say to do is get you to
14:55
Speaker 8: work tendall noon, Yeah, in three to six if you can, well,
14:59
Speaker 8: that's fine, that's fine.
15:00
Speaker 3: All right. So, first of all, how was the tournament
15:03
Speaker 3: you just called the mountainst Tournament.
15:05
Speaker 8: That's one of the better tournaments really I've ever been
15:08
Speaker 8: associated with Mountain East Conference. So many great, great basketball
15:16
Speaker 8: players in that league and coaches and you know, you
15:19
Speaker 8: go back to times when Joe Miszoula was coaching at
15:22
Speaker 8: Fairmont State and now he's the head coach of the
15:23
Speaker 8: Boston Celtics with an NBA title under his belt. And
15:27
Speaker 8: it goes back Jared Calhoun who's now Utah State. So
15:31
Speaker 8: there's a lot of great coaches that have been there
15:32
Speaker 8: a lot of great players. For the first time since
15:34
Speaker 8: nineteen eighty six, Fairmont State and the men and the
15:38
Speaker 8: women both won the tournament yesterday, and that's again the
15:42
Speaker 8: first time that had happened the same team since nineteen
15:44
Speaker 8: eighty six. So a lot of talent, no doubt about it.
15:47
Speaker 8: I think, what's happening now with that tournament. And they
15:51
Speaker 8: just signed a new three year agreement to stay in Wheeling.
15:53
Speaker 8: Beautiful place. West Banko Arena is the perfect place I
15:56
Speaker 8: think to have That tournament holds about four thousand people
16:01
Speaker 8: and West ce Liberty really packed the place out with
16:04
Speaker 8: Fairmont State yesterday. So good time, good time, great great basketball.
16:08
Speaker 3: In the championship game went to triple triple.
16:11
Speaker 8: Over, triple overtime. Yes, wow, that's good. It really is
16:14
Speaker 8: good stuff. It's good basketball and it's a lot of fun.
16:17
Speaker 8: And now the next couple of weeks we devote our
16:21
Speaker 8: time to the girls and then the boys.
16:23
Speaker 3: But Dave Island Show and five Eddieline Brown to you,
16:25
Speaker 3: part by Fresh Air Filters of Tay's Valley. Fresh Air,
16:27
Speaker 3: your trusted filter experts. We're with your homer business called
16:30
Speaker 3: three zero four four four zero one one zero four.
16:33
Speaker 3: Visit Fresh air filters dot us because everyone deserves fresh air.
16:37
Speaker 3: All right, let's talk about the girls and the boys tournament.
16:39
Speaker 3: Of course, the girls this week give me the overall
16:43
Speaker 3: of the view on the On the girls state tournament,
16:46
Speaker 3: it's it's always a good time.
16:47
Speaker 8: It is. It's definitely a good time. And of course
16:50
Speaker 8: you have eight teams in each class, so they have
16:52
Speaker 8: a total of thirty two teams, and we have seventeen
16:56
Speaker 8: of the teams that were there last year coming back,
16:58
Speaker 8: which means we've got fifteen brand teams this year. And
17:02
Speaker 8: the most that return was in Class Triple A where
17:05
Speaker 8: Nitro won it all last year. Nitro's back as the
17:08
Speaker 8: number one seed and they will start it tomorrow night
17:12
Speaker 8: at seven fifteen. They played Lewis County. So it's Triple
17:15
Speaker 8: A and Single A tomorrow because it's kind of mixed
17:20
Speaker 8: up it or Double A mixes it all together and
17:23
Speaker 8: you get all the teams done and we get to
17:25
Speaker 8: semi final Friday. But a lot of good teams. I
17:30
Speaker 8: was talking yesterday, I was in Parkersburg meeting with the coaches,
17:34
Speaker 8: and you know you hear it, well, every team is
17:37
Speaker 8: good in Class Triple A, in particular, I think every
17:40
Speaker 8: team one through eight could win the thing.
17:42
Speaker 3: Really, that's how and it's not always it's not. I mean,
17:44
Speaker 3: they're all good teams, but sometimes when you look at
17:47
Speaker 3: at these games on paper, you know, you narrow it
17:49
Speaker 3: down to Okay, in this class, there's maybe four teams
17:52
Speaker 3: that could win it right two or whatever. Or sometimes
17:55
Speaker 3: you say this team's gonna win it all no matter what.
17:57
Speaker 3: But you're saying that there's that many teams that have
17:59
Speaker 3: the possibility to win.
18:00
Speaker 8: In Class Triple A in particular, I mean, we have
18:02
Speaker 8: some really really good tea. The number three seed is
18:05
Speaker 8: Greenbrier East United States Senator Jim Justice's team. They're twenty
18:09
Speaker 8: three to one, and I mean they have a solid team.
18:12
Speaker 8: Their only game they lost this year was to Nitro
18:14
Speaker 8: at Nitro, And of course Nitro is the number one
18:17
Speaker 8: seed coming in. But Wayne is there, Cistonville is there,
18:20
Speaker 8: East Fairmount is there. I mentioned Greenbrier East, Kaiser Grafton.
18:24
Speaker 8: Grafton has lost only one time this season. They were
18:28
Speaker 8: the only only undefeated team on the state boys. They're
18:30
Speaker 8: girls for a long time. They didn't lose in Jo
18:31
Speaker 8: just a couple of weeks ago. So it's going to
18:34
Speaker 8: be a great tournament looking forward to it. Quada, we've
18:37
Speaker 8: got in Triple A, for example, we've got the state
18:40
Speaker 8: champion back and that's Nitro. But in Quada, Wheeling Park
18:44
Speaker 8: was the state champion last year. They're not back. Wyoming
18:47
Speaker 8: East in Class Double A they will be back to
18:50
Speaker 8: defend their title, and Cameron. So three of the four
18:53
Speaker 8: state champions from last year are all back.
18:57
Speaker 3: Who are some of the key players that you're looking at?
19:00
Speaker 3: I mean, you know, I mean, we talked about the teams,
19:02
Speaker 3: but who is a couple of players that ye're kind
19:04
Speaker 3: of circling saying, I really want to see this young
19:08
Speaker 3: lady play.
19:08
Speaker 8: Gilmour County has twin sisters, the Dobbins twins. They're both
19:14
Speaker 8: about six foot three and they're very, very talented. They're
19:17
Speaker 8: always fun to watch. Greenbrier East as an outstanding young shooter.
19:21
Speaker 8: Kennedy Stewart is her name. So you know throughout the tournament,
19:27
Speaker 8: when you get to Morgantown, you've got the Kellogg young
19:31
Speaker 8: Lady and you have the Freeze young lady. So you
19:34
Speaker 8: have the two head coaches of the Mountaineer of Basketball programs,
19:37
Speaker 8: the women and the man is their daughters play for
19:39
Speaker 8: Morgantown and they're very good, I mean very good.
19:41
Speaker 3: And that's got to be a unique situation, I would
19:43
Speaker 3: think nationwide. I don't know what other states can say
19:46
Speaker 3: that they have something like that. Who are a couple
19:50
Speaker 3: of teams that maybe I know who the top rank
19:52
Speaker 3: the top seeds are, But give me a couple of teams,
19:54
Speaker 3: Fred that you think could really surprise people this time.
19:58
Speaker 8: Wow. Yeah, let's go to Triple A. We mentioned Nitro
20:03
Speaker 8: of course being the number one seed. I think Wayne
20:06
Speaker 8: has got a good chance. I definitely think Crafton, I
20:09
Speaker 8: think green Bery East has a really good chance of
20:11
Speaker 8: coming out of there. In Class Quad A, Spring Valley
20:16
Speaker 8: is a team that you know more for football than
20:20
Speaker 8: you do anything else, really, But Bo Miller's got a
20:23
Speaker 8: really fine team. They're the number one seed. Do they win?
20:26
Speaker 8: I don't know They've You've got Morgantown down in the
20:29
Speaker 8: lower part of that bracket. So I think Morgantown has
20:32
Speaker 8: a better way to get to the state championship game.
20:36
Speaker 8: They probably will have to go through maybe George Washington
20:39
Speaker 8: or Parkersburg. George Washington probably in GW Jamilmaster always has
20:44
Speaker 8: a great team. So I think those two classes could
20:47
Speaker 8: be very very competitive and single A and double A.
20:50
Speaker 8: Wheeling Central is in Double A, Charleston Catholic is in
20:53
Speaker 8: Double A. Logan is in Double A and talk with
20:57
Speaker 8: their head coach yesterday and he's looking forward to but
21:00
Speaker 8: he gets to open up with Charleston Catholic. That won't
21:02
Speaker 8: be easy at all. Is a great team, so it's
21:05
Speaker 8: gonna be a lot of fun. We look forward to
21:06
Speaker 8: it each year. And A games start Tuesday, they end Saturday.
21:10
Speaker 8: We'll be back in Parkersburg Sunday, and then we'll do
21:12
Speaker 8: the boys next week.
21:13
Speaker 3: All right, before I let you go, because you know,
21:15
Speaker 3: from time to time i'll have you and Speedy Bevans
21:17
Speaker 3: on the show to talk about, you know, legendary games
21:19
Speaker 3: and whatever. But I'm gonna put you on the spot here.
21:21
Speaker 8: Wonderful.
21:23
Speaker 3: He's so tired he does go out Anyway. If I
21:26
Speaker 3: had to ask you, Fred to tell me what in
21:29
Speaker 3: state tournament wise, what's maybe one of the better games
21:32
Speaker 3: you ever saw and one of the better players that
21:35
Speaker 3: you ever saw?
21:36
Speaker 8: Well, I think definitely one of the better games I saw.
21:41
Speaker 8: Let's get to go to two. Okay, okay, two games
21:43
Speaker 8: real quick two had when you know Oj Mayo and
21:49
Speaker 8: Patrick Patterson of that crew at Huntington. I mean, if
21:52
Speaker 8: you like just pure basketball talent high school on the floor,
21:56
Speaker 8: that was the game to watch. I mean it was
21:58
Speaker 8: just unbelievable uns, the passes, the shots outside. It was
22:01
Speaker 8: a really really great team that Huntingson. Wont it all
22:03
Speaker 8: that year? Another team another game was Beckley and Brooke
22:09
Speaker 8: and Beckley trailed by twenty points going to the fourth
22:13
Speaker 8: quarter and won the game.
22:15
Speaker 3: What year was that, approximately.
22:19
Speaker 8: Ninety two maybe nineteen two and three, So that one
22:23
Speaker 8: really stands out and one of the outstanding players, no
22:25
Speaker 8: doubt about it. Herbie Brooks. I had the opportunity to
22:28
Speaker 8: call his game when he played for the Mullins Rebels
22:31
Speaker 8: and he scored fifty points in the game without the
22:34
Speaker 8: aid of the three point line. It wasn't available back then.
22:37
Speaker 8: And that record still stands, which surprises me a little
22:40
Speaker 8: bit with all the talent that's come through there, like
22:42
Speaker 8: the Oj Mayos and the Patrick Patterson's, that that record
22:45
Speaker 8: has not been broken. Still, fifty points in a single
22:47
Speaker 8: game is the record. And Herbie Brooks did that and
22:51
Speaker 8: then went on to start West Virginia University and he
22:54
Speaker 8: coached for a long time, So there's been a lot
22:57
Speaker 8: of great talent coming through that tournament.
22:58
Speaker 3: Anytime that you mentioned the name her Herby Brooks, my
23:01
Speaker 3: mind goes back to Jack Fleming calling the games of
23:04
Speaker 3: Herbie Brooks, and that's when they also had Chris Brooks
23:07
Speaker 3: on the team at the same time, and I can
23:09
Speaker 3: remember he referred him as Herbie and Big Brooks. You know,
23:12
Speaker 3: Big Brooks was Chris Booker.
23:13
Speaker 8: Definitely.
23:14
Speaker 3: All right, So the games, fred will be on the air.
23:18
Speaker 3: We're going to have here on our station. Of course,
23:20
Speaker 3: most of the daytime games will be on Charleston's ESPN Radio.
23:23
Speaker 3: I do understand there will be some on CHS. We'll
23:25
Speaker 3: get to all that a little bit later. On evening
23:27
Speaker 3: sessions are on five ADWCCHS or here in the Voice.
23:31
Speaker 3: Charleston also bringing in the Metro News television folks in
23:34
Speaker 3: there as well, So if you haven't already downloaded the
23:36
Speaker 3: Metro News TV app, cheap plug there, Sir Frederick. We
23:39
Speaker 3: need to make sure that we get people to do that.
23:41
Speaker 8: Do that, and it's good to see that stations around
23:45
Speaker 8: the state are picking up the rock. We'll have a
23:47
Speaker 8: network of about forty four radio station state Line I mean.
23:50
Speaker 3: It's a special time, and high school sports are big
23:54
Speaker 3: all over the country, but I mean, this is a
23:56
Speaker 3: time when West Virginia, you know, I think and it's
23:59
Speaker 3: because it is in March and everybody's had a you know,
24:01
Speaker 3: everybody's looking forward to the to the hopefully warm weather
24:04
Speaker 3: and everything, and there's just something about being at the
24:06
Speaker 3: coliseum and convention Center this week and next the two
24:09
Speaker 3: most magical weeks of the with all due respect to
24:12
Speaker 3: you know, baseball and football, the two best weeks for
24:16
Speaker 3: high school sports in West Virginia, in my opinion, are
24:18
Speaker 3: the girls and the boys state basketball tournament.
24:20
Speaker 8: Always remember Dale Miller who started it with for the network,
24:24
Speaker 8: the coverage that we have, and he said it is
24:27
Speaker 8: the biggest thing we do all years on network. Sure,
24:31
Speaker 8: no doubt about it and so and we treat it
24:33
Speaker 8: that way as well. We've been. This will be our
24:35
Speaker 8: fortieth year. Yeah, that's a long time. As it's a
24:39
Speaker 8: long time. I'm not even forty years old yet. You
24:41
Speaker 8: might not have an IQ forty you're forty years old.
24:45
Speaker 3: That's my man. Fred Prochinger, the boys of high school
24:47
Speaker 3: sports of West Virginia. Fred, thanks a lot, my pleasure,
24:49
Speaker 3: but we'll be listening and watching, and again an opportunity
24:52
Speaker 3: to tell you if you have not yet downloaded the
24:54

Speaker 3: Good morning, Welcome to the show. Good morning, Dave, thanks
27:57
Speaker 3: for having me on. I'm I'm glad to be here again.
27:58
Speaker 3: All right, so let's talk about the podcasts. Give me
28:01
Speaker 3: time to you know, plug the podcast. This thing is huge,
28:04
Speaker 3: it's doing very well. It's doing Look, I mean, I'll
28:07
Speaker 3: just throw the numbers right out to you. I average
28:09
Speaker 3: around one thousand listeners per episode. I know what local
28:14
Speaker 3: podcasts look like. I'm very proud of that.
28:15
Speaker 4: I think that's I think it's really good and so
28:19
Speaker 4: people enjoy it, you know, And the neat thing is
28:21
Speaker 4: is see on the back end, I'm hosted by bus Sprout.
28:24
Speaker 4: So once you get up to a certain threshold, they'll
28:26
Speaker 4: allow you to throw in advertising. And these advertisers can
28:30
Speaker 4: come from anywhere around the nation. They kind of insert
28:33
Speaker 4: the advertising in the podcast. But I've declined to do
28:36
Speaker 4: that because you know, I don't know who the advertiser
28:39
Speaker 4: is going to be, whether I would endorse them or not.
28:41
Speaker 4: So of course I would entertain local advertising West Virginia
28:45
Speaker 4: centric type advertising, which we haven't done yet. You know,
28:47
Speaker 4: everything's provided for free to the listener. But if that
28:50
Speaker 4: came about, we would do that. But I'm not going
28:52
Speaker 4: to do the national stuff and all that. I want
28:53
Speaker 4: it to be very West Virginia centric, even though I
28:56
Speaker 4: have listeners from all over the nation, so it's doing
28:58
Speaker 4: very well. But I do want to tell you congratulations
29:01
Speaker 4: on your big news that I heard last week, and
29:03
Speaker 4: I know you talked about a little bit earlier on
29:05
Speaker 4: this show. That's that's really cool and exciting. I told
29:07
Speaker 4: you if it has a little bit of politics and
29:09
Speaker 4: news in it, I'll be listening.
29:10
Speaker 3: Of course, I have no doubt that that that you
29:13
Speaker 3: will be. And if I'll go ahead and give you
29:16
Speaker 3: another free plug for the podcast here, if somebody's listening
29:18
Speaker 3: today and they would like to advertise on your party,
29:20
Speaker 3: doesn't mean you can stop advertising here.
29:22
Speaker 8: Yes, you got to do both.
29:23
Speaker 3: But what's the best way to just go to your
29:27
Speaker 3: what's the best way to.
29:27
Speaker 4: Do Yeah, just email me at Tony m Hoodge at
29:30
Speaker 4: gmail dot com, Tony Mhodge at gmail dot com. Or
29:34
Speaker 4: you can find me on on all social media Tony
29:36
Speaker 4: m Hodge. Or you can look up the Viewpoint podcast
29:39
Speaker 4: on Twitter. So there's many ways to reach out to us. Yeah,
29:42
Speaker 4: just reach out if you want to advertise, I've already
29:44
Speaker 4: told you the numbers, and so if you if you
29:47
Speaker 4: want to know, if you want to get your word
29:49
Speaker 4: out there to the people, it's a really good way.
29:51
Speaker 4: And look, podcasting, as you know, as West Virginia Radio knows,
29:55
Speaker 4: podcasting is part of the future.
29:56
Speaker 8: You guys are doing it. You have to be in
29:58
Speaker 8: the podcast world.
30:00
Speaker 4: That's how especially a lot of younger people, that's how
30:02
Speaker 4: they consume their information.
30:03
Speaker 8: So it's a good, good platform to be in.
30:06
Speaker 3: All right, I got a quick text here. It has
30:07
Speaker 3: nothing to do with you, and I want to get
30:09
Speaker 3: it out of here since Dave. Great to hear Fred
30:11
Speaker 3: Persinger on the program this morning. A true sports legend.
30:14
Speaker 8: Well, he is a legend.
30:14
Speaker 4: I said that to you when you came and got
30:16
Speaker 4: me out of the green room. You said, hey, you
30:17
Speaker 4: got to follow Fred Persinger, and I said, yeah, that's
30:19
Speaker 4: a that's quite a job. He's a radio legend, memorable voice.
30:23
Speaker 4: And I do enjoy the basketball tournament. I don't always
30:25
Speaker 4: get to attend, but I listened to a lot of
30:27
Speaker 4: the games. As you know, I'm a big radio consumer,
30:30
Speaker 4: so I listened to the games.
30:31
Speaker 8: But I agree with you.
30:32
Speaker 4: I heard what you said earlier that that's probably the
30:35
Speaker 4: best sporting event that we have in Westrovis.
30:36
Speaker 3: Shure, it is really good, not even close, but Ave

31:07
Speaker 3: Baseball dot com. All right, let's get to the uh
31:09
Speaker 3: to the the political stuff. Now, legislature. I know you
31:13
Speaker 3: watch it very very closely if you're not in attendance,
31:16
Speaker 3: which you frequently are. Overall, very generic question and we'll
31:21
Speaker 3: get into specifics. Overall, your take on the legislative sasshion
31:24
Speaker 3: so far, well, look, I mean, I think they're doing
31:26
Speaker 3: a good job. There was a lot of turnover in
31:29
Speaker 3: the Senate and in the House we have a lot
31:32
Speaker 3: of new members. We have less Democratic members, which I'm
31:35
Speaker 3: very pleased with, but we have we have a lot
31:37
Speaker 3: of new members, and so there's you know, there's a
31:40
Speaker 3: learning curve there. We have a new Senate president, you know,
31:43
Speaker 3: and he's he's trying to get his uh, you know,
31:45
Speaker 3: find his bearings and how to and how to lead
31:47
Speaker 3: the Senate and so I you know, look, it's it's
31:50
Speaker 3: moving a little bit slow. Part of that's by design,
31:53
Speaker 3: especially on the House side. I mean we we you know,
31:56
Speaker 3: we got updates ahead of the session talking about how
31:59
Speaker 3: they can many process would be slowed down a bit.
32:02
Speaker 3: On the House side, you know, we went from quantity
32:05
Speaker 3: where Speaker Hanshaw what says they want to go from
32:07
Speaker 3: quantity over to quality of bills. And so if you
32:11
Speaker 3: look on the Legislature's website, there's many, many, many less
32:14
Speaker 3: House bills that have gone through even on committee in
32:17
Speaker 3: the committee side. Then there are Senate but even on
32:20
Speaker 3: the Senate side, it's a little bit slower. So I
32:23
Speaker 3: just think with the high turnover, the new leadership, we
32:27
Speaker 3: have a new governor. You know, everybody's trying to get
32:29
Speaker 3: to know each other, and so the session's going a
32:32
Speaker 3: little bit slower.
32:33
Speaker 2: Now.
32:33
Speaker 8: There's been some talk out there.
32:34
Speaker 4: About such a huge focus on social issues and maybe
32:38
Speaker 4: not as much focus on economic issues. I understand that,
32:40
Speaker 4: and I see that. I, for one, am a person
32:44
Speaker 4: that believes that you need both. I listen to your
32:46
Speaker 4: show often. I listen to Talk Line with Dave and TJ.
32:50
Speaker 4: And you seem to have it's almost like two sides
32:53
Speaker 4: pitted against each other. Well, you have your economic development
32:56
Speaker 4: people and you have your social people, and they're kind
32:59
Speaker 4: of clashing or or fighting for power. You know, I'm
33:03
Speaker 4: not that guy. I think both are very important and
33:06
Speaker 4: there's got you got to have room for both. And
33:08
Speaker 4: so you know, the Senate just passed a big economic
33:11
Speaker 4: development bill just last week, sent a bill five point
33:12
Speaker 4: fifty two, I think is the name that's going to
33:14
Speaker 4: allow for these data centers or other big industrial type
33:19
Speaker 4: or manufacturing type facilities to come in and be able
33:22
Speaker 4: to use their own power grid, and which includes Cole
33:26
Speaker 4: and Rupy. Phillips had a good amendment on that bill
33:29
Speaker 4: that he did on the House on the floor of
33:31
Speaker 4: the Senate.
33:31
Speaker 2: And so.
33:33
Speaker 8: I have heard though that.
33:36
Speaker 4: Some have said leadership on the Senate side wanted to
33:38
Speaker 4: get some of these social bills out of the way.
33:40
Speaker 4: That way they can focus very much in depth on
33:42
Speaker 4: the Economic Development Bill. So we'll see what happened. I'm
33:45
Speaker 4: very I'm pleased it's slow, but you have to give
33:48
Speaker 4: these guys a little bit of leeway.
33:50
Speaker 3: Well, speaking of slow, and I had to and you
33:52
Speaker 3: kind of addressed this, but I wanted to bring this up.
33:55
Speaker 3: So far, there has been there's been three bills that
34:00
Speaker 3: have passed. Now, two of those were things that were
34:03
Speaker 3: updates of code that have to be done. There's only
34:05
Speaker 3: been one bill. There's only been one bill that's come
34:09
Speaker 3: out and been signed, and that was the ranked choice
34:11
Speaker 3: voting bill. Does it have to be that slow toning?
34:14
Speaker 4: Well, now you say only one bill has been passed
34:18
Speaker 4: the entire legislative session, There's been several Senate bills. I mean,
34:21
Speaker 4: there's been several bills that come out of the Senate, right,
34:23
Speaker 4: there's only been a very few out of the House,
34:25
Speaker 4: and I don't even only maybe one or two has
34:27
Speaker 4: been signed by the governor. But yeah, I mean, look,
34:31
Speaker 4: it's it is a little slow. I think it'll pick
34:35
Speaker 4: up though, especially you have to watch, especially on the
34:37
Speaker 4: House side. It's going to be backloaded because of this
34:39
Speaker 4: new committee process. Everything's going to go really really slow
34:42
Speaker 4: at first, and then it's going to be like the
34:47
Speaker 4: pedal to the floor in the end. Yeah, to try
34:49
Speaker 4: to get all this committee work, then try to get
34:51
Speaker 4: it through the House floor. So I think the second
34:54
Speaker 4: half of the session is going to be very, very animated,
34:57
Speaker 4: shall we say?
34:58
Speaker 3: All right, so you and I are great friends and
35:02
Speaker 3: have been for a number of years now, but I'm
35:04
Speaker 3: gonna play devil's advocate here. I know, no pun intent,
35:07
Speaker 3: no pun intent as someone who sees themselves and you
35:11
Speaker 3: may disagree with the assertion as a overall conservative person,
35:16
Speaker 3: and you may disagree with that, but we're just gonna
35:18
Speaker 3: go with in the eyes of many. You know, I
35:20
Speaker 3: am considered a Chamber of commerce, country club type as
35:25
Speaker 3: far as my political been, you know, not so much
35:28
Speaker 3: into the social issues you alluded to this earlier. I
35:32
Speaker 3: mean it seems like that to me, and you say
35:36
Speaker 3: they'll get to that, and I've heard the same thing.
35:38
Speaker 3: I talked to a senator, a state senator over the
35:40
Speaker 3: Weekend who said the same things, like Dave, we got
35:42
Speaker 3: to get through these social issues so then we can
35:45
Speaker 3: use your words, so we can put the pedal to
35:47
Speaker 3: the metal. But again, it seems to me that we're
35:51
Speaker 3: focusing so much on these trans issues and abortion and
35:56
Speaker 3: things of that nature. I know you you disagree, and
36:00
Speaker 3: that's okay, but it just seems like we got to
36:04
Speaker 3: pick it up a little bit and maybe, in my view,
36:08
Speaker 3: get away from some of these social issues. Well, I
36:12
Speaker 3: completely disagree with your last statement get away from some
36:14
Speaker 3: of the social issues. I disagree with that wholeheartedly. Again,
36:17
Speaker 3: I believe that both are very important. In my mind,
36:20
Speaker 3: they both weigh equally. You know, there's a guy out there.
36:24
Speaker 3: You guys can look him up. You guys have heard
36:26
Speaker 3: of Jordan Peterson. Oh yeah, Well, one of Jordan Peterson's
36:28
Speaker 3: guests on his podcast is a man by the name
36:32
Speaker 3: of Rob Henderson, and he wrote a book entitled Troubled
36:35
Speaker 3: and this book is endorsed by Vice President Ja d
36:38
Speaker 3: Vance And I read the book, and this guy he
36:41
Speaker 3: has an incredible backstory where he dealt with some very
36:45
Speaker 3: rough social issues growing up, I mean, divorce, abandonment. He
36:50
Speaker 3: was an orphan became adopted, another divorce, drug use in
36:54
Speaker 3: his family, all of these horrible social issues. But to
36:57
Speaker 3: make a long story short, he ended up going into
37:00
Speaker 3: the military. God his life straightened out, ended up being
37:03
Speaker 3: able to go into Yale after being a terrible student
37:06
Speaker 3: in high school. He went to Yale and then God
37:08
Speaker 3: his doctorate degree at Cambridge, and he wrote this book
37:11
Speaker 3: called Trouble. And when you get to the end of
37:13
Speaker 3: the book, he kind of puts it all together and
37:14
Speaker 3: he says, look, social issues greatly affected my life. Then
37:19
Speaker 3: he talks about his business acumen and the importance of
37:21
Speaker 3: the economy and all of that. He says, both of
37:24
Speaker 3: these are equally important. You can't have true honest success
37:28
Speaker 3: in economic development and business and all that if you
37:32
Speaker 3: don't have people who have a strong foundation on the
37:35
Speaker 3: social issues. I feel like Rob Henderson, I feel like
37:38
Speaker 3: that very thing. We have to have a strong foundation
37:42
Speaker 3: of solid belief in good moral values that will set
37:47
Speaker 3: the foundation to have people who are put into place
37:52
Speaker 3: to where they can succeed economically, in school, in their
37:57
Speaker 3: education all that. You know, people who come from broken
37:59
Speaker 3: homes and all these social environments, a lot of times
38:02
Speaker 3: they get into adulthood and they're serving us down here
38:05
Speaker 3: at the local gas station.
38:07
Speaker 4: It doesn't have to be that way. Rob Henderson talks
38:09
Speaker 4: about that you need both. You need strong social fabric
38:12
Speaker 4: in this country and that will create strong economic development.
38:16
Speaker 8: Mark that down.

38:36
Speaker 3: I mean not got a couple of texts here, Okay,
38:37
Speaker 3: text says it's not all it's not at all a
38:40
Speaker 3: committee issue. It's the type of bills wasting time and
38:44
Speaker 3: not moving West Virginia forward with not pushing pro business legislation.
38:47
Speaker 4: Well, I'll tell you this, we're doing pro business legislation.
38:50
Speaker 4: If you go in and look at the bills introduced,
38:52
Speaker 4: all the pro business bills are there.
38:54
Speaker 3: We'll get to it.
38:55
Speaker 4: But I'll also tell you this other thing. The people
38:57
Speaker 4: who are sitting down there in office right now, they
38:59
Speaker 4: were a lie. They were elected to do certain things.
39:02
Speaker 4: They've heard from their constituents, and they're getting the things
39:04
Speaker 4: that their constituents want out of the way. The voters
39:07
Speaker 4: put them there. I don't know who your textures are,
39:09
Speaker 4: But whoever the textures are, who who pushed back real
39:12
Speaker 4: hard on that? Look, I'm willing to we can work together.
39:15
Speaker 4: But if you push back real, real hard, I'm gonna
39:17
Speaker 4: tell you something. You're in the minority. The voters put
39:20
Speaker 4: the people who are in there right now, who are
39:21
Speaker 4: very social conservative with all you know, also business minded.
39:26
Speaker 4: You're gonna have to be able to do both. We'll
39:28
Speaker 4: be able to do both. Again, it's a two year session.
39:31
Speaker 4: It's not just one year, you know, it's two years.
39:34
Speaker 4: The House of Delegates elected every two years. So you've
39:36
Speaker 4: got this section, you've got this year and next year.
39:38
Speaker 4: There's going to be time. It's gonna come now.
39:40
Speaker 8: I do agree. I did hear.
39:41
Speaker 4: It was Senator tar He was on the other day
39:44
Speaker 4: and he was talking about he wants to move faster.
39:46
Speaker 4: He's my senator, you know where I live in Putnam County,
39:49
Speaker 4: and so I do agree with him. We do need
39:53
Speaker 4: to move on these things. But it will happen but
39:54
Speaker 4: you got to give them time again, there was high turnover.
39:57
Speaker 4: You got a lot of people down there learning the ropes.
40:00
Speaker 3: Texas Tony Hodge wants to use the government to enforce
40:02
Speaker 3: his personal social views on people, and he doesn't understand
40:05
Speaker 3: the hypocrisy that he'd be crying if liberal ideology was
40:09
Speaker 3: forced on him.
40:10
Speaker 4: Well, it matters at the voting booth if the Democrats
40:13
Speaker 4: had won and they were pushing their ideology. That get
40:15
Speaker 4: me out there fighting harder for my people to win
40:18
Speaker 4: the seats.
40:18
Speaker 3: Back Texas Day. This do nothing state government. It's prioritized
40:21
Speaker 3: culture war bs over basic governance, such as Rhodes Bridge's
40:26
Speaker 3: jobs of the economy. Now we're touting Jordan Peterson, what
40:29
Speaker 3: a joke, Wake up voters. This story he's telling has
40:32
Speaker 3: nothing to do with the social issues that his party
40:36
Speaker 3: is wasting time on. Will get to it cake for
40:39
Speaker 3: me and not for.
40:40
Speaker 4: Thee Well, look said make cake. I only have a
40:43
Speaker 4: twenty minute segment on here. I mean I could go
40:45
Speaker 4: in here and give a full synopsis of Rob Henderson's
40:48
Speaker 4: book that I was talking about.
40:50
Speaker 8: I can't do that.
40:50
Speaker 4: I'm trying to respect people's time, but clearly the listener
40:55
Speaker 4: I don't get They probably didn't understand my full explanation
40:57
Speaker 4: on that.
40:58
Speaker 3: Tex says, any day a legislative by isn't passing laws
41:01
Speaker 3: is a good day. There's too many now, Uh, there
41:05
Speaker 3: could be some truth to that. Pens on pends on
41:09
Speaker 3: how you're taking what particular bill it is.
41:11
Speaker 4: I guess, yeah, I mean less government's good. But you
41:14
Speaker 4: know we're working together trying to make West Virginia a
41:16
Speaker 4: better place.
41:17
Speaker 3: Texas, Dave, haven't you learned by now that the extreme
41:19
Speaker 3: social issues such as transurgeries for kids and CRT are
41:23
Speaker 3: exactly what Democrats created their policies around. These things are
41:26
Speaker 3: exactly why a lot of people have left the party.
41:29
Speaker 3: I think he means left the Democratic Party. I think
41:31
Speaker 3: because he or she I don't know who it is.
41:33
Speaker 4: Well, yes, of course, because clearly people are leaving the
41:36
Speaker 4: Democratic Party, not only in West Virginia in droves, but
41:38
Speaker 4: now nationally. And I have a big announcement to make,
41:40
Speaker 4: but I want to wait till after the break before
41:41
Speaker 4: I make it. Yeah, I've got an announcement.
41:43
Speaker 3: Announcements, all right, Yeah, did you happen to see and
41:46
Speaker 3: I saw it over the weekend, the interview that California
41:49
Speaker 3: Governor Newsom did he's with Charlie Kirk. I think he's
41:55
Speaker 3: I think he and some others are starting to dial
41:59
Speaker 3: back a little bit on some of these things as
42:03
Speaker 3: it comes to trans issues and women in sports and
42:07
Speaker 3: things of that nature. I've got a message here. So
42:11
Speaker 3: Supreme Court will take up state bands on conversion therapt
42:14
Speaker 3: therapy for lgb two CO lgbt Q plus children in
42:19
Speaker 3: a Colorado case. Okay, So again I think that this
42:25
Speaker 3: is just me and you can agree or disagree. I
42:27
Speaker 3: think that if the Democrats, and I'm talking on the
42:28
Speaker 3: nationwide level now have any opportunity to be able to
42:34
Speaker 3: correct what they did wrong in this past election, they're
42:37
Speaker 3: gonna have to dial it back a little bit because
42:39
Speaker 3: they're not in many cases, in my opinion, they're not
42:42
Speaker 3: where the voters are. I don't know what the far
42:44
Speaker 3: right is either, okay, but I don't think that a
42:47
Speaker 3: lot of these extremes are where the voters are. Say
42:50
Speaker 3: this and go to break.
42:50
Speaker 4: Okay, Well, it depends on how you how you would
42:52
Speaker 4: describe the far right, how would you would how you
42:54
Speaker 4: would define that. But I'm glad you brought up that
42:56
Speaker 4: gavenution thing. Because it kind of dovetails in the announcement
42:58
Speaker 4: that I'm gonna make.
42:59
Speaker 8: But you're right.
42:59
Speaker 4: Gave Newsome. Look, he wants to be the president of
43:02
Speaker 4: the United States. He sees the writing on the wall.
43:04
Speaker 4: He knows the Democrats are losing, and they're losing bad.
43:07
Speaker 4: And it was actually quite shocking that he went on
43:09
Speaker 4: even agreed to have an interview with Charlie Kirk, and
43:12
Speaker 4: then when he goes on there, he backtracks on all
43:14
Speaker 4: these radical leftist ideas that the Democrats are trying to
43:17
Speaker 4: shove down our throat. Gavin Newsom, I hate to say,
43:19
Speaker 4: I don't want to give them pointers or anything like that,
43:20
Speaker 4: because I'm very good at strategy. But he's very smart,
43:23
Speaker 4: and he's doing very smart things right now. He's positioning
43:27
Speaker 4: himself very very well.
43:29
Speaker 8: He's smart.
43:30
Speaker 4: The Democrats in West Virginia, our leadership on that side
43:33
Speaker 4: is not because they're doing exactly the opposite of what
43:35
Speaker 4: Gavin Newsom is doing.
43:36
Speaker 3: Texas Republicans have shaped Democrat policy from their various scam
43:40
Speaker 3: that has synchronized conservative anger media networks. Democrats have left
43:44
Speaker 3: let them as well. Okay, all right, final says four
43:49
Speaker 3: break before election fixed on day one after election. We
43:53
Speaker 3: need more time. And I think this refers to and
43:56
Speaker 3: this is probably more of a Trump thing when he said,
43:58
Speaker 3: you know, when he came in and his said when
44:01
Speaker 3: he came in and he said on you know, you're
44:03
Speaker 3: going to see if you elect me, that prices are
44:05
Speaker 3: gonna fall and this is gonna happen, and it's not.
44:08
Speaker 8: Well, there's a lot of things moving.
44:09
Speaker 3: We should have probably should have never said that it
44:12
Speaker 3: was going to happen, you know, but go ahead.
44:13
Speaker 4: Well, the truth is things are moving much much faster
44:16
Speaker 4: in that administration. On the national administration, he's actually gotten
44:19
Speaker 4: a lot done in the last six weeks or so.
44:21
Speaker 4: But here we're talking about West Virginia. There was no
44:23
Speaker 4: promises to do anything spectacular on day one with House
44:27
Speaker 4: of Delegates members in West Virginia Senate members.

Speaker 3: Name one bill, just one actual bill for the sake
47:05
Speaker 3: of time that will benefit the West Virginia economy.
47:08
Speaker 8: Senate Bill five p. Fifty two. Go look it up.
47:10
Speaker 3: Okay, all right, you want to give us a little
47:12
Speaker 3: what that is?
47:13
Speaker 2: Well, it's just quickly.
47:14
Speaker 8: Yeah, it's an economic development bill. I touched on it earlier.
47:16
Speaker 8: It will it will.
47:17
Speaker 4: It's it's basically a welcome matt to big factories or
47:21
Speaker 4: industrial sites, possibly data centers, things like that, and where
47:25
Speaker 4: they can use their own power grid, including it used
47:29
Speaker 4: to be only green power, but now it's been amended
47:33
Speaker 4: to include fossil fuel power, which is good. And so
47:38
Speaker 4: it's going to open the door. You got to move fast,
47:40
Speaker 4: you know, when people come knocking, you have to be
47:42
Speaker 4: ready to answer right then and there. So part of
47:44
Speaker 4: it's done on the legislative side. Part of it's just
47:46
Speaker 4: good old fashioned knowing how to meet people and.
47:48
Speaker 8: Talk to people.
47:49
Speaker 3: All right, what's this announcement you got?
47:50
Speaker 4: Okay, So last Tuesday I was watching the Joint Address
47:54
Speaker 4: to Congress. Okay, that address is watched by many more
47:59
Speaker 4: people than would normally be involved in politics because it's
48:02
Speaker 4: on every network, you know, so it's watched by millions
48:04
Speaker 4: of people. In fact, I saw Fox News said it
48:05
Speaker 4: was their highest joint Session of Congress ever in the ratings.
48:09
Speaker 4: What I saw was shocking, absolutely shocking, and quite frankly,
48:15
Speaker 4: I can't believe you haven't talked about it more on
48:16
Speaker 4: your show, and Dave and TJ haven't talked about it
48:18
Speaker 4: more on their show.
48:19
Speaker 8: They did talk about a little bit.
48:21
Speaker 3: It was shocking.
48:22
Speaker 4: It was something that we've never seen in American history ever.
48:25
Speaker 4: Before President Trump comes out, none of the Democrats, they
48:30
Speaker 4: don't even stand, they don't clap or anything. There's one
48:32
Speaker 4: woman Democrats standing there with a sign that says this
48:34
Speaker 4: is not normal, and I was like, Okay, what's this about.
48:37
Speaker 4: Turns out it surely wasn't normal. They had a young
48:42
Speaker 4: man there, a child with brain cancer, fighting brain cancer,
48:46
Speaker 4: and the Democrats, based on their strategy, they didn't even
48:48
Speaker 4: have the common decency to stand up and clap for
48:52
Speaker 4: a young man dying of brain cancer or fighting brain cancer.
48:56
Speaker 4: They had Lake and Riley's family there, she was killed
49:00
Speaker 4: by criminals. They didn't even have the common decency to
49:03
Speaker 4: stand up in class. Now, people who don't normally involve
49:06
Speaker 4: themselves in politics, but they see this because it's on
49:08
Speaker 4: every network. They're looking at that and saying, what is
49:11
Speaker 4: going on? What is going on with these people? They
49:13
Speaker 4: don't even stand for and clap for a child with
49:16
Speaker 4: brain cancer. So the announcement that I have to make
49:18
Speaker 4: today is a big announcement, is that the Democratic Party
49:22
Speaker 4: is completely bankrupt. I'm telling you right now. They're bankrupt.
49:26
Speaker 4: They're bankrupt of good policy, they're bankrupt of good ideas,
49:30
Speaker 4: they're bankrupt of good decorum, they're bankrupt of good decency,
49:33
Speaker 4: and some of them are bankrupt of good morals. The
49:36
Speaker 4: Democratic Party is bankrupt.
49:37
Speaker 7: Now.
49:38
Speaker 4: Look, I'm not a prophet, but I can tell you
49:40
Speaker 4: when it's about to reign. And if the election were
49:42
Speaker 4: held tomorrow, the Democrats will lose all the way across
49:45
Speaker 4: this country because of the garbage that they showed the
49:48
Speaker 4: American people last Tuesday.
49:49
Speaker 3: That was sad.
49:50
Speaker 4: It was poor strategy. That was one of the poorest
49:52
Speaker 4: strategies I've ever seen in politics. And look, I work
49:55
Speaker 4: in strategy.
49:56
Speaker 8: That's what we do.
49:57
Speaker 4: We're very good at it. Okay, we're very good at
50:00
Speaker 4: it in the Republican Party in West Virginia. We're very
50:02
Speaker 4: good at what we do. There are certain things you
50:05
Speaker 4: can control. You can control your messaging, you can control
50:08
Speaker 4: what you say to the voters and how you advertise.
50:12
Speaker 4: There's one thing you can't control. There's like this this
50:14
Speaker 4: X factor, this, you know, this unknown quantity like we
50:17
Speaker 4: do in algebra, and that's what the other side's going
50:19
Speaker 4: to do. Sometimes they do things that beat you. Sometimes
50:22
Speaker 4: they do things that make it easy. And last Tuesday night,
50:25
Speaker 4: the Democratic Party really showed themselves and the American people
50:29
Speaker 4: were very unhappy. In fact, there was a there was
50:31
Speaker 4: a poll done on CNN Liberal CNN that eighty percent
50:36
Speaker 4: of the viewers disagreed with what they saw on the television.
50:39
Speaker 3: Now and I agree with you wholeheartedly on that, I
50:41
Speaker 3: mean one hundred percent. I also harken back to a
50:43
Speaker 3: time when Marjorie Taylor Green was booing a former president too,
50:48
Speaker 3: and I also think that was a lot of crap.
50:50
Speaker 3: I mean, I really do. I think it's decorum and
50:52
Speaker 3: I didn't and I'll say this, and I said this
50:54
Speaker 3: last week. I don't like the idea of them channing
50:56
Speaker 3: USA usay either. Not that I'm not patriotic, because I am. However,
51:01
Speaker 3: it's the capital for gosh. Say, here's the thing.
51:04
Speaker 4: Gavin Newsom knows that they he knows how bad it was.
51:07
Speaker 4: He's changing his tunes just like you pointed out. You know,
51:09
Speaker 4: who's not changing their tune. You know who's doubling down
51:12
Speaker 4: on this garbage, The West Virginia Democrats, and they're gonna lose,
51:15
Speaker 4: and they're gonna lose big. Keep doing it and keep losing.
51:17
Speaker 3: Quick text, Tony Hodge is a man that has common sense.
51:20

51:22
