- 0:00The Catholic Church believes it's replaced Israel, therefore all the Old Testament
- 0:04militant promises are given to the Catholic Church.
- 0:07That's why they can justify the Crusades and things like that.
- 0:10Then you have the Calvinists who believe it's their job to build the kingdom
- 0:14of heaven here on earth through making America great again, voting in conservative,
- 0:20you know, the silent majority,
- 0:22you know what I mean, bringing in prayer back into school, all that stuff.
- 0:25That's what the Calvinists purport.
- 0:27So that's replacement theology. the way they do that is to say,
- 0:30well, the church is the primary people of God.
- 0:35They are now the Israel of God. The Old Testament promises.
- 0:38So, that's supersessionalism. So, that's part of the problem with these people
- 0:42that come with this, you know, the church has replaced Israel.
- 0:46It's that replacement theology, and it's, again, rooted in Calvinistic Catholic thought.
- 0:50Welcome to The Immutable Word. This is Alan Robert. We're back for yet another episode.
- 0:56Today we're going to be doing something not so different. We're actually going
- 1:00to be talking about a comment that we received from an episode that we had done
- 1:05a few weeks back, episode 49. We were covering the mysteries episode.
- 1:10And a listener had commented that
- 1:12we should correct our theological stance regarding Israel and the church.
- 1:15And at first it looked pretty innocent enough.
- 1:19It looked like they sort of appreciated what we were doing and made a comment,
- 1:23which I found to be more of a honeypot comment where they kind of bring you
- 1:29in and then they start the argumentation.
- 1:31But in a way, they rejected the distinction between the two and as many Calvinists,
- 1:36Catholics and other Suppressionists who conflate the Church and Israel.
- 1:40So this also happened previously too on episode, one of our earlier episodes,
- 1:46episode 14, where we're talking about.
- 1:48Christian supporting modern-day Israel. We had a couple of episodes out on that,
- 1:54I think, and there was another instance where somebody came in and started making a lot of arguments.
- 1:59For some reason, those are really, really popular. When you mention Israel or
- 2:03talk about modern-day Israel, somebody always has something to say,
- 2:06and we always get a lot of views, too.
- 2:09So, it's a good topic to talk about. Yeah, and what I wanted to say,
- 2:12just as a kind of a clarification, too, is that we dealt with the issue that
- 2:16we're talking about today, which is replacement theology and Israel and the
- 2:21church and the distinction,
- 2:22is that we did talk about it not as in-depth, but, you know,
- 2:27we did talk about it quite a bit for episode 14 because it was actually the topic of the episode.
- 2:32So when we talked about modern Israel, what is modern Israel, defining it.
- 2:36So we talked about Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and some of the crazy stuff they were saying.
- 2:40So this one, we're going to go a little bit more deep dive today. Yeah.
- 2:44On the replacement theology and actually look at their arguments. Nice.
- 2:47And I think it's timely, too, just considering the political situation of the
- 2:52world these days with Iran.
- 2:53So I think it's interesting that we're going to be mentioning Israel on this
- 2:57topic and might just pop up in a lot of people's feeds. Who knows?
- 3:01Maybe spawn some more interesting comments in the comments section.
- 3:06Yeah, and I think it's going to—I mean, this is going to be an ongoing topic
- 3:12until Christ comes back.
- 3:14Because if there's one thing that—if you study your Bible without any kind of
- 3:19external commentary or interpretation, what you're going to find out is that
- 3:24there is a deep hatred for Israel.
- 3:27I don't care if you recognize the modern state of Israel as Israel.
- 3:31There is a deep hatred for them.
- 3:33Anti-Semitism, I believe, is equivalent to, you know, a doctrine of devils, period.
- 3:39That's the way I look at it. And I think that this attack on dispensationalism,
- 3:45the hermeneutic, the fact that churches are extremely ignorant of dispensational
- 3:51theology and dispensational Bible study, and matter of fact,
- 3:55you're even seeing some of our King James-only folks water down dispensational theology.
- 4:01I believe that that's all a sign of the times.
- 4:04I believe this is the Laodicean church age, and you have to create an environment,
- 4:09a global mentality that hates those Jews.
- 4:13And it's exactly what you see happening, whether people realize it or not.
- 4:17And a lot of professing Christians are falling into that trap.
- 4:20Yeah, it's crazy to see the influence, I suppose,
- 4:25with media and even Bible-believing Christians are picking up on this stuff
- 4:30and moving away from dispensationalism and getting on this bandwagon where it
- 4:35really leads to anti-Semitism.
- 4:37And you see a Christian nationalism on the rise.
- 4:41I've seen Bible-believing Christians argue, well, I don't see Jews dying for
- 4:45America, so why should Americans die for Jews?
- 4:48You know what I mean? And so any kind of defense of the nation of Israel is
- 4:52some kind of compromise with Israel and that somehow we're condoning every single act that they do.
- 5:00But the problem is, is there's this, again, either the Bible is your final authority
- 5:05or you change the Bible to make it mean what you want it to mean.
- 5:09And that's exactly what this guy was doing. And he's not anything that I've
- 5:14dealt with that's new. He didn't bring up any arguments that I haven't heard
- 5:17a thousand times over in the past six, seven months.
- 5:22But I think it's fair that here's what I want to do is let's articulate his arguments.
- 5:27Let's recognize him and let's look at it from a scriptural point of view and
- 5:31see if this logically makes sense. Yeah, and I could see where a guy that comes
- 5:36in like this is really intellectual, the real intellectual type.
- 5:39And I think that's who you primarily deal with. It's nothing new.
- 5:42It's the same arguments, right, for the most part.
- 5:45And they come in and they start posting or start commenting.
- 5:49They use channels as their platform to show people how smart they are and just
- 5:54to argue for the sake of arguing.
- 5:57And I was going to ask you Like of all the groups that you Have pleasant conversations
- 6:02with You'd say Calvinists are probably the most frustrating No,
- 6:05the two that I deal with Are anti-King James and Calvinists.
- 6:11The anti-King James and the Calvinist issue is becoming more and more prominent.
- 6:15And I just, I really think, because one, if you get rid of the King James,
- 6:19you get rid of your final authority.
- 6:20And if you get rid of the Jew, then you condone anti-Semitism and hatred,
- 6:26and eventually their murder is what it comes down to.
- 6:30And nobody can read the Bible and realize from Genesis 3.15 where God cursed
- 6:35the seed of the devil and said it was going to be the seed of the woman.
- 6:38Now, you can sit there and allegorize that and say that's the church all you
- 6:42want, but the seed of the woman specifically is pointing to the virgin birth
- 6:46of a Jewish-born Savior, whether you like it or not.
- 6:51And you could say, well, all that stuff was stripped when Christ died for the church. Really?
- 6:54You're going to take a parenthetical church age and sit there and disrupt the
- 7:00entire program God had laid out for Israel in 49 books of the Old Testament?
- 7:05Anyway, it's really a ridiculous position.
- 7:10But the problem is, is you have more and more Christians. There's a statement Paul makes to Timothy.
- 7:15And he says in the latter days, in the last days, that, you know,
- 7:19men are going to have itching ears for teachers, right? Having itching ears.
- 7:23They're going to look for teachers that will teach what they want them to teach.
- 7:26And Timothy, he tells Timothy, they will not endure sound doctrine.
- 7:32That means they can't handle it. They won't stand up for it. They won't defend it.
- 7:38So it's rather than be like, for example, if you were to, if you were in the
- 7:41social media world and you were to argue key JVO, you're going to be called
- 7:45every name in the book. You're going to be a cultist.
- 7:48You know, you're going to be, there's labels and association, guilt by association.
- 7:52They're going to say that you're ridiculous, you're anti-intellectual, whatever the case is.
- 7:58And the same thing is for Israel. If you publicly stand up for Israel,
- 8:01be prepared to be ridiculed, mocked, from both sides, from liberals and Christians.
- 8:08So the point is, is people will not endure sound doctrine because it's easier
- 8:13to fly under the radar and say, you know what? I'm not going to mess with those
- 8:16controversial doctrines.
- 8:18They're not going to endure them. But that's exactly what Paul warned of in
- 8:21the last days. Here we are.
- 8:24So, needless to say, it's a pretty contentious topic these days,
- 8:30and we thought we would dedicate an episode.
- 8:34I mean, we're going to see this more and more, right? It's going to be more
- 8:36prevalent, so a Christian ought to be armed with this knowledge and be able
- 8:41to recognize it for what it is and be able to respond appropriately, right?
- 8:45So, they're, let's see here, there's, they fall into different categories, right?
- 8:51So, there's like three different categories that they can fall into.
- 8:54I want to break that down. Yeah, what it is, what it comes down to is,
- 8:59you know, these guys that come up with this whole idea that the church and Israel
- 9:05are the same thing, they fall into three category issues, problems with their interpretation.
- 9:11And this is what it comes down to, is number one is they have a commitment to
- 9:16what we call supersessionism or replacement theology.
- 9:19So that's rooted. And what's ironic about that, it's an Augustinian philosophy.
- 9:25So it's both Calvinistic, which is Protestant, and Catholic.
- 9:30Both Calvinists and Catholics both reject the primacy and the distinction of Israel. Both of them do.
- 9:40The Catholic Church believes it's replaced Israel, therefore all the Old Testament
- 9:45militant promises are given to the Catholic Church.
- 9:48That's why they can justify the Crusades and things like that.
- 9:51Then you have the Calvinists who believe it's their job to build the kingdom
- 9:55of heaven here on earth through making America great again, voting in conservative,
- 10:01you know, the silent majority.
- 10:03You know what I mean, bringing in prayer back into school, all that stuff.
- 10:06That's what the Calvinists purport. So, that's replacement theology.
- 10:10The way they do that is to say, well, the church is the primary people of God.
- 10:16They are now the Israel of God. The Old Testament promises.
- 10:19So, that's supersessionalism. So, that's part of the problem with these people
- 10:22that come with this, you know, the church has replaced Israel.
- 10:27It's that replacement theology. And it's, again, rooted in Calvinistic,
- 10:30Catholic thought. Then, in order to support that, you have to allegorize scripture.
- 10:36You have to spiritualize the passages and force them into this theological framework, right?
- 10:43So, they reject the historical, grammatical, literal method of interpretation.
- 10:47You can no longer take the Bible, you know, by what it says plainly.
- 10:52You have to reinterpret those so that it fits your theological framework,
- 10:56which is the replacement theology or the Calvinism or the Catholic doctrines.
- 11:02And then, of course, that's all a result of the number three category,
- 11:06which is completely ignoring or just a complete ignorance of dispensationalism.
- 11:11You know, refusing to believe that it's a legitimate hermeneutic in the scriptures,
- 11:15even though the Bible tells us, according to God, the right way to study your
- 11:20Bible is by right division. Yeah.
- 11:22That's what dispensationalism teaches, is that God, through various administrative
- 11:27functions throughout history, has dealt with man at different levels,
- 11:31with progressive revelation, different rules of engagement.
- 11:35He never violates any principles, so he never contradicts himself.
- 11:39But the key to dispensationalism, it's the only way to make the Bible make sense,
- 11:43because you're going to have apparent contradictions.
- 11:46You're going to read things in the Old Testament that don't make sense in the
- 11:50New Testament, and you're going to read the books, you're going to read Matthew,
- 11:53and you're going to read the Beatitudes where Christ says, hey,
- 11:56if your eye offends, you pluck out your eye, or if your hand offends, you rip off your arm.
- 12:00So you tell me, how do you get around those passages as a New Testament Christian
- 12:05today, where if you look at something you shouldn't, why aren't more Christians
- 12:09ripping their eyeballs out?
- 12:11You see the problem? The problem is, is they don't understand dispensationalism.
- 12:16And people that don't accept dispensationalism, they're going to confuse their
- 12:20Bible, They're going to confuse interpretation.
- 12:22They're going to be confused about Pauline doctrine. They're not going to understand
- 12:26what exactly applies to them.
- 12:28And of course, we've already done episodes where liberals and homosexuals,
- 12:34LGBTQ crowd have ripped passages out of context because of a failure to rightly divide.
- 12:41So, again, what promotes this whole idea that, oh, the church has now replaced Israel?
- 12:47It's replacement theology, which is rooted in Augustinianism,
- 12:51which is the root of Calvinism and Catholicism, and then allegorization of Scripture,
- 12:57because in order to support that, you have to spiritualize the passages.
- 13:00And in order to do that, you have to completely disregard dispensationalism.
- 13:06So, the bottom line is, when it comes to dispensational interpretation,
- 13:10at the end of the day, it is the only, and I'm going to say that,
- 13:14I'm going to stress that, it is the only method of study.
- 13:18The only one that aligns with the prophetic framework of Scripture without changing
- 13:24the verses, conflating them, overgeneralizing them, or spiritualizing them.
- 13:29It is the only method of Scripture that aligns with the prophetic framework of Scripture.
- 13:35All other hermeneutical systems, which includes Calvinism, they're incompatible
- 13:40with what you find in Scripture as it's plainly stated.
- 13:45You have to change the wording of Scripture in order to support replacement theology.
- 13:51So, that's why I say that dispensational interpretation of Scripture is the
- 13:55only method of study that aligns with prophecy.
- 13:58And if you ignore the prophetical implications of Scripture,
- 14:02then you might as well just toss your Bible out, because that's a divine fingerprint
- 14:06of the Bible, that it is the Word of God is prophecy.
- 14:11And a huge contingent doctrine that is related to prophecy is, guess what? Israel.
- 14:20If you get rid of Israel, you get rid of prophecy, you get rid of prophecy,
- 14:23you get rid of the final authority of the Word of God.
- 14:27So, it's interesting that Calvinism agrees with Catholicism when it comes to replacement theology.
- 14:33Is this something that they admit to? Oh, yeah.
- 14:37Calvin himself even admitted that—it was either Martin Luther or Calvin that
- 14:42he says, as he thinks his thoughts, he is wholly and completely and utterly
- 14:47Augustinian in thought.
- 14:48But Augustine of Hippo, I believe, he's the father of—he's the one that—he was
- 14:57an early church father around, you know, 3rd century, 4th century, I believe.
- 15:02And he was the one that came up with fatalism, determinism, things like that you find in Calvinism.
- 15:08That basically, if God wills it, it's going to happen regardless of what you want.
- 15:13He also—he spiritualized passage of scripture, allegorized a lot of stuff.
- 15:17He argued for a lot of the doctrines that the Catholics believe today,
- 15:22you know, intercessory prayer by priests and things like that.
- 15:26There's a lot of things that if you ask a Catholic, they're rooted in Augustinianism.
- 15:30If you talk to a Calvinist, their entire theology is rooted in Augustinianism.
- 15:35Yeah, that's pretty wild.
- 15:38And, yeah, it really does reveal a lot of things that are just completely counter
- 15:43to the Word of God and how it should be approached, rightly dividing,
- 15:47being a dispensationalist.
- 15:50So, cool. What's next?
- 15:53Well, I mean, what we want to do is, you know, we kind of—I organized the guy
- 15:57on the comment, and I didn't want to—I'm not going to go through and read his
- 16:00comments just because some of them are kind of stupid.
- 16:02Honestly, they are. I mean, the guy, you know, he thought very highly of himself.
- 16:07And he kept trying to throw gotcha questions out there, but you could tell that
- 16:10he wasn't paying attention to what the scripture was saying.
- 16:12He was constantly reinterpreting them so that it aligns with his theological
- 16:16bent, which is replacement theology.
- 16:19And I kept calling him out. I said, well, you're a supersessionist.
- 16:22You're a replacement theologian.
- 16:24You know, and of course, he kept just attacking dispensationalism and so forth and so on.
- 16:27But he didn't really ever prove that dispensationalism was wrong.
- 16:30And I put, you know, I threw a couple arguments out there showing them,
- 16:34if what you're saying is true, you've just created a contradiction.
- 16:38What you've done is you've undermined the promises to the church because you've
- 16:43completely destroyed the promises to Israel.
- 16:45And he couldn't get it. And a lot of those guys, man, they're so blinded.
- 16:48And that's why I said, I said, you're not really interested in what the Bible says.
- 16:51You're just more interested in defending your theology. Yeah.
- 16:55And so I'm not a dispensationalist because I want to be.
- 16:59I'm a dispensationalist because I have to be. In order to believe that the Word
- 17:04of God is the Word of God, that it's consistent,
- 17:07cogent from, you know, it's coherent from beginning to end, the purpose-scuity
- 17:11of Scripture, meaning that Scripture is plain in every sense,
- 17:14that it means exactly what it says, I have to be dispensational.
- 17:18Once I reject dispensationalism, I'm going to create a ton of theological problems, period.
- 17:24I mean, I'm willing to argue that with anybody, but the point is.
- 17:29So what we want to do is, rather than get into each of his comments and his
- 17:34silly little statements and stuff that he made,
- 17:36what I did is kind of synthesized his arguments into six primary arguments,
- 17:41and this is what you're going to come across with most replacement theologians.
- 17:46So, you know, by understanding what their argument is, I want to articulate it.
- 17:50Let's identify where their arguments come from and how they're justifying them.
- 17:54And then, you know, do that a little bit of analysis and then provide a scriptural rebuttal for each.
- 17:59And then for each one of these arguments, I want to highlight a scriptural principle
- 18:04that's actually being violated as a result of it.
- 18:08There's a lot of scripture. This isn't an anti-Calvinist episode.
- 18:12Some of this stuff is anti-Calvinist, but specifically this whole conflation
- 18:17of the church and Israel is a very, very important.
- 18:20I mean, there's Bible beliefs. I've had people in our church that are struggling with Israel today.
- 18:26They're like, Brother Robert, how do we support Israel when they're doing such
- 18:30wicked stuff? How do we support Israel when, you know, we talked about it before,
- 18:34should Christians support modern-day Israel?
- 18:36You know, they're heavily involved in the pornographic industry.
- 18:40They're involved in international banking.
- 18:42They've been involved in international globalist conspiracies.
- 18:46And I agree with all that, absolutely. But guess what?
- 18:49None of that abrogates the unconditional promise that God made.
- 18:55His promise is not contingent upon Israel's obedience.
- 19:01I will say that over and over again. God's promise to Israel has nothing to
- 19:05do with them being obedient to him or crucifying their Messiah at all.
- 19:11I mean, you look throughout the entirety of scripture and they're constantly in disobedience to God.
- 19:18I mean, they were driven out of the land. They were destroyed by their enemies.
- 19:22They were forced to eat their own children.
- 19:25I mean, there's a passage in Jeremiah where he says that you have as many cities as you have gods.
- 19:34I mean, think about that statement. You have as many cities in Israel as you
- 19:39have gods that you worship to, that they set up altars to sacrifice to.
- 19:44And some of their sacrifices involved their own children.
- 19:47I mean, so if we stop and think about that just for a second,
- 19:50let's think logically here instead of like a replacement theologian.
- 19:54I mean, literally, I say that tongue in cheek, but I also mean it because they
- 19:58don't think logically because they think like, I've got to support my replacement theology.
- 20:03I've got to embrace my replacement theology. I don't care what the verse says.
- 20:06I don't care what the passage says.
- 20:07I've got to reject what this passage says, and I've got to reinterpret it so
- 20:11it supports my theology.
- 20:13I want people to understand it is a wicked, wicked, wicked doctrine.
- 20:17I don't care if you're a Calvinist or not.
- 20:19But here's the point of it.
- 20:22When you look at Israel in the Old Testament, they were sacrificing their own
- 20:25children. They were committing abominations. They were committing whoredoms
- 20:29with the idols around them, the gods around them.
- 20:33And God destroyed them. God destroyed their temple.
- 20:37God drove them into, you know, they went into Babylon. They went into Assyria.
- 20:43400 years, God didn't open up one prophetic door.
- 20:46There was no, the word of God was silent for 400 years, and then the Messiah showed up.
- 20:52Why would God allow his son to die for such a wicked, vile, idolatrous nation?
- 21:01Answer that question, replacement theologian. Why would God allow his son,
- 21:06knowing that they had committed idolatry, knowing that they had violated their
- 21:10covenant, their promise, especially as they came into the...
- 21:13I'm not talking about the Abrahamic covenant. I'm talking about the Mosaic covenant.
- 21:17And we'll talk about that a little bit in here in just a little bit.
- 21:20But why would God allow his son to die for a nation like that?
- 21:24Why would Jesus Christ look over Jerusalem and say, O Jerusalem,
- 21:28Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, how oft I would have gathered you
- 21:30together as a hen does her chicks, but ye would not.
- 21:34Right? And why would Jesus Christ on the cross, his last words on the cross,
- 21:40Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.
- 21:43Help me understand that replacement theologian. Why would God allow his precious,
- 21:49dear son die for such a wicked, vile, godless, depraved nation?
- 21:57And then your argument today is like, well, look what Israel does.
- 22:01How can they be the people of Israel?
- 22:03What does that tell you? That tells you that people that make that comment or
- 22:07have that mentality are extremely ignorant of their Bible.
- 22:12They don't know how to connect the dots. So anyway, so let's just go do the
- 22:17arguments and we'll kind of talk to them. Sounds good.
- 22:20So the first argument, which I think, you know, it's kind of apparent,
- 22:24their argument is that the church is the new or true Israel. Okay.
- 22:30There's a lot of verses that they use as proof text for this.
- 22:34But the claim is that the church has permanently replaced Israel as the recipient of God's covenants.
- 22:40Right. They redefine Israel. So whenever you read Israel in the New Testament,
- 22:44it actually means the church.
- 22:46So that's why we say they conflate the church with Israel. They're mixing and matching.
- 22:52It's an equivocation, right? They're saying the church is Israel and Israel is the church.
- 22:58So they'll use passages like Galatians 6.16. I'll read it here.
- 23:03This is where you read about the Israel of God. But in Galatians chapter 6,
- 23:07let's see, Galatians chapter 6 and verse 16,
- 23:11the Bible says, And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them
- 23:17and mercy and upon the Israel of God.
- 23:22That's one of the verses they'll use. So here's a problem with this,
- 23:26okay? And I'll just say this. So we went through the fallacies, right?
- 23:30What they do with this verse is they commit what's called a hasty generalization.
- 23:33They'll take one obscure passage.
- 23:37You know that Israel of God, that phrase, Israel of God, this is the only place
- 23:41it shows up in your Bible. It doesn't show up anywhere else.
- 23:44So they'll reinterpret the entire Bible off of this verse.
- 23:50They say, oh, the church is now the Israel of God. Well, here's the problem.
- 23:54The Bible doesn't say the church is the Israel of God. You know what the book
- 23:58of Galatians is about? It's about Gentiles that get saved and Jews that get saved.
- 24:05So these Christians, where there's neither Jew nor Greek, they become the Israel
- 24:11of God because they are physically, literally,
- 24:14ethnically—like if you go in the same book in Galatians, look at Galatians chapter
- 24:182. It'll show you something really interesting.
- 24:21Galatians chapter 2, he says—let me find the verse here—,
- 24:25So this is where Paul rebukes Peter, because Peter is with a bunch of,
- 24:30he's with some Gentiles. Let's see.
- 24:34He goes, verse 7, he says, But contrary to wives, when they saw that the gospel
- 24:40of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, this is Paul, as the gospel of
- 24:44the circumcision, the Jews, was unto Peter.
- 24:46So Peter was still dealing with Jews, he was dealing with the Gentiles.
- 24:50Verse 8, For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the
- 24:54circumcision, the same was mighty in me towards the Gentiles.
- 24:57And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace
- 25:00that was given unto me, they gave to me in Barnabas the right hands of fellowship
- 25:04that we should go into the heathen and then into the circumcision,
- 25:07only that we would remember the poor, the same which I was also forward to do.
- 25:11But when Peter was come to Antioch, I was stood him to the face because he was to be blamed.
- 25:15For he, before, for before that certain came from James, so there's people from
- 25:22James came to Peter, he did eat with the Gentiles. Peter was eating with the Gentiles.
- 25:26But when they, these Jews that came from James, were come, he withdrew and separated
- 25:32himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
- 25:35So Peter became a respecter of persons. He goes, uh-oh, there's a bunch of Jews
- 25:39coming. I can't let them see me hanging out with these Gentiles. See what he's doing?
- 25:44And then the other Jews dissembled likewise with him.
- 25:48So there was Jews that were with Peter and they go, oh man, if Peter's going
- 25:51to separate himself from the Gentiles, then we should too.
- 25:54See the problem? And then he says, insomuch that Barnabas was also carried away
- 25:58with their dissimulation.
- 25:59But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the
- 26:03gospel, I said to Peter before them all, watch what he says.
- 26:06If thou being a Jew, so he calls him a Jew, right? Right?
- 26:10Livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews,
- 26:14why compelest thou the Gentiles to live as the Jews?
- 26:18So, he's basically rebuking him because of his hypocrisy, right?
- 26:22Here's the verse. Look at verse 15.
- 26:25He says, We who are what?
- 26:30Jews by nature. See that? Did Paul just include himself in that group called
- 26:35we who are Jews by nature?
- 26:37Do you think that's a spiritual distinction or is he making a physical distinction
- 26:42when he says Jews by nature?
- 26:44That's a physical distinction. Yeah, it's a physical distinction.
- 26:46He goes, we're physically Jews. We're blood-born Jews.
- 26:51And you know what's interesting about that? Because there's these arguments
- 26:54that go, well, you know, the term Hebrew and Jew and Israel, they're all distinct.
- 26:59That's different people. well guess what he just said we are
- 27:01jews they go well like the not the lost tribe
- 27:04which are the the 10 northern tribes they're no longer jews
- 27:08anymore you know what the problem is with that statement is peter
- 27:11is from galilee he's a northern jew and you know what you know what you know
- 27:16what paul is philippians chapter 3 he's of the tribe of benjamin he's a southern
- 27:21jew uh-oh paul forgot to make a distinction between Northern Jews and Southern
- 27:26Jews. Uh-oh, big mistake.
- 27:29Why did he just include them as all being Jews by nature?
- 27:33Jews by nature, that's in distinction.
- 27:37There's no distinction made between northern Jews and southern Jews.
- 27:41So you can't argue like, well, the 10 northern tribes that are lost tribes,
- 27:45they're no longer Israel anymore. Oh, really?
- 27:47And why is it when Paul, in Philippians chapter 3, he uses the term Hebrew,
- 27:53Israel, and Jews interchangeably?
- 27:56Somebody doesn't know how to read their Bible. Anyway, I'm getting off track,
- 27:59but my point here is this.
- 28:01When he says, we who are Jews by nature, Paul is saved.
- 28:05Peter is saved at this point. This is after Acts 15.
- 28:09He's saved. They're both saved by the blood of Jesus Christ.
- 28:12Guess what? They're both part of the church.
- 28:15Guess what? They're in Christ. There's neither Jew nor Gentile.
- 28:19Why did he just call him a Jew by nature?
- 28:21Why is it that Paul constantly refers to physical, ethnic, national distinctions
- 28:28after the resurrection of Christ?
- 28:31See, replacement theologians can't explain this because they have to force the
- 28:36term Israel and Jew. They have to force it into their theological framework.
- 28:42So that's why they go to Galatians 6.16 and go, well, you know,
- 28:45the Israel of God, that's the new Israel.
- 28:47There is no more Israel. then why is Paul making a distinction,
- 28:50a physical, national, ethnic distinction about being a Jew after the fact that he saved?
- 28:57Because the distinction still exists. That's what people, that's what they don't get.
- 29:02Well, here's another. So Galatians 6, 16 is one verse. Another one is Romans 9. Romans 9.
- 29:09Romans 9, chapter 9, verse 6, it says this.
- 29:12Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For, watch what he says,
- 29:16they are not all Israel which are of Israel. Uh-oh.
- 29:20They're not Israel. He goes, they're physically born as Israelites, but they're not Israel.
- 29:25Verse 7. neither because they are the seed of Abraham, so they're the seed of
- 29:29Abraham, are they all children, but in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
- 29:34Verse 8, that is, they which are the children of the flesh, these are not the
- 29:39children of God, but the children of the promise. There you go.
- 29:43There's a distinction that God just made.
- 29:45If you're not, you have to be part of the children of the flesh or you're children
- 29:49of the promise. There's a dichotomy.
- 29:51Not everybody that's physically born of Abraham. Well, let me ask you a simple Bible question.
- 29:58How many physical sons were born to Abraham before he died?
- 30:02Ishmael, Isaac. That's it. Remember?
- 30:06God, he was 99 years old. His wife, Sarah, was 90, and she was going to have a child.
- 30:12And he tried to circumvent the promise and God, and because Sarah didn't have
- 30:17a child, you know, what did Sarah tell them to do, tell Abraham to do.
- 30:20Go have a child by Hagar, the Egyptian, right?
- 30:24Ishmael was born. So Ishmael was a legitimate blood-born child of the flesh of Abraham, was he not?
- 30:34Okay. Well, then guess what happens in Genesis chapter 22 after Isaac is born? Isaac is born.
- 30:42God tells Abraham, I want you to go to a mountain that I'm going to tell you of.
- 30:47And, you know, they go to the mountains and guess what? They go to the top of
- 30:50the mountain and Isaac asks his dad, hey, you know, where's the lamb that we're supposed to sacrifice?
- 30:56And what does Abraham say? Well, God will provide himself a lamb, right?
- 31:00And you know what God told, commanded Abraham to do? I want you to take your
- 31:03son, thine only son. Well, here's the problem.
- 31:10Didn't Abraham have two sons? Right. So why did God only recognize Isaac as the true son?
- 31:16Because Isaac was the promised child.
- 31:20Hagar, the son he had with Hagar, Ishmael, was not the promised one.
- 31:24So the distinction in Romans chapter 9 is not that, oh, well,
- 31:31you know, God has gotten rid of Israel, because this is how the replacement
- 31:35theologian reads it. Oh, God replaced Israel with the church.
- 31:38That's what happened. No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 31:41You're completely ripping the context out. God is making a distinction in Romans
- 31:459 of election, which is God's choice in his chosen people, not the church.
- 31:52It has nothing to do with the church.
- 31:54The entire chapter has nothing to do with the church.
- 31:56He's basically telling him not every physical born son of Abraham was the son
- 32:01of promise. Only Isaac was.
- 32:04Okay? So that's why it's important to read your Bible. If you don't read the
- 32:09Romans chapter 9 in context.
- 32:10As a matter of fact, Romans 9, 10, and 11 are all about Israel.
- 32:14It's about the restoration of Israel as a nation because God doesn't undermine his own promises.
- 32:20So the other verse is 1 Peter chapter 2 and verse 9. 1 Peter chapter 2 and 9 says.
- 32:271 Peter chapter 2 and 9, 1 Peter chapter 2, verse 9, the Bible says,
- 32:34But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation,
- 32:40a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called
- 32:44you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
- 32:47So he's talking about, you know, in verse 10, which in times past you were not
- 32:50a people, but now you're the people of God, which did not obtain mercy.
- 32:53Again, what they'll read is these are spiritual promises of the Gentiles being
- 32:59grafted into the olive tree. The olive tree was Israel.
- 33:04Because of Jesus Christ, because of our faith in Christ, we are now part of
- 33:09the spiritual inheritance of Abraham's seed.
- 33:12But guess what that does not argue for? It doesn't argue for a replacement.
- 33:17Just because the church is engrafted in doesn't mean that we've replaced Israel.
- 33:21There's no argument. There's no verse of scripture you can find in the entire
- 33:25Bible that says the church replaced Israel. So here's the rebuttal.
- 33:29Paul is obviously, if you look at Galatians 6, Romans 9, 1 Peter 2,
- 33:34Paul in 1 Corinthians, he says this.
- 33:37He says, we're not supposed to give offense to the Jews, nor the Gentiles,
- 33:40nor the church of God, right?
- 33:42Now, 1 Corinthians, is that a church epistle or is that before the resurrection
- 33:47or is that an Old Testament epistle?
- 33:49Church. Yeah, he's writing to the church at Corinth. which is a Greek church.
- 33:55Which is a church full of Gentiles, right? So why is he still making distinction
- 34:00between the Jews, the Gentiles, and the Church of God if there's no longer Jews?
- 34:04It would be Muda at that point, if that was the case. So what he's doing is
- 34:08proving that the distinction still exists after the resurrection of Christ,
- 34:15after the birth of the church.
- 34:17There's still a group of people called the Jews.
- 34:20You may not like it. You may want to try to reinterpret that verse.
- 34:23But again, every replacement theologian is going to do everything in their power
- 34:27to do verbal gymnastics so that they can embrace their replacement theology
- 34:32because they cannot accept what the scripture says.
- 34:35It's not even implied. It's pretty explicit. Oh, it's very explicit.
- 34:38The distinctions throughout scripture in the New Testament. Yep.
- 34:42And you know what's interesting?
- 34:44In Romans chapter 10, verse 1, you know what Paul does? He says,
- 34:47I wish I were accursed for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh.
- 34:53You cannot argue those are Gentiles.
- 34:56Because he said he was a Hebrew of the Hebrews in Philippians 3.
- 34:59He was born of the tribe of Benjamin.
- 35:02He's appealing to his ethnic national identity as a Jew, right?
- 35:08And then in Romans chapter 10, he says, he goes, I'll read, let me read the verse.
- 35:13Because again, he keeps making this distinction as if there's still this group
- 35:18called the Jews that still exist.
- 35:21Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer for Israel is, watch,
- 35:25that they might be saved.
- 35:27So, if Israel there means the church, why is he praying for the church's salvation?
- 35:33Good question. I mean, if you're saved, you're sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
- 35:38You were circumcised and baptized into Christ. You become the church immediately upon belief.
- 35:46So why is he arguing for the church to be saved in Romans 10.1,
- 35:50but he's using the word, the term Israel?
- 35:53Unless, and here's a thought, maybe I'm stretching it, maybe Israel actually means Israel.
- 36:00Yeah, imagine that.
- 36:02That means what he says. So, grammatically, the Israel of God in Galatians 6.16,
- 36:08it's referring to the Jewish believers within the church.
- 36:11They're still distinct from Gentile believers because if you look back at Galatians,
- 36:16if I go back to Galatians again, that verse, Galatians 6,
- 36:21it says, For as many as walk according to this rule, peace be unto them and
- 36:28mercy upon the Israel of God.
- 36:29Verse 15, he says this, For in Christ, watch, in Christ Jesus,
- 36:34there is neither circumcision availeth nothing nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
- 36:39So when he says that he's blessing and peace be upon the Israel of God,
- 36:43he's talking about both the circumcised and uncircumcised believers.
- 36:47Specifically, the circumcised believers are still Jews.
- 36:50There's still an ethnic distinction being made.
- 36:53So he's not, again, the church is the new Israel, a true Israel.
- 36:58That's their argument. What are they doing? What's the principle being violated here?
- 37:02They're destroying the distinct identity of Israel and the church,
- 37:06which is constantly referred to by Paul after the resurrection of Christ.
- 37:13So, they are ignoring the distinctions. This is why dispensationalists,
- 37:19you know, are dispensationalists.
- 37:22Because what we're doing is we're saying, oh, there's a distinction here.
- 37:26I wonder if this distinction means exactly what it means.
- 37:30There's a division. There's obviously a division between the church and Israel. Why?
- 37:35Because dispensationalists believe that there is a program, a future program
- 37:38for the restoration of Israel. and it will come together at the millennium, right?
- 37:44When David is sitting on his throne and Jesus Christ is also ruling and reigning on this earth.
- 37:49He's going to restore Israel.
- 37:51Look at Revelation chapter 20. What happens in Revelation chapter 20?
- 37:54After a thousand years, the devil is bound in the pit. He comes out, right?
- 38:00And what does he do? He still volunteers and gets like the number of the sand
- 38:05of the sea upon the earth to come down upon the holy city. and it's still called the holy city.
- 38:09It's called Jerusalem. And we talked about it before.
- 38:12Why is it called the city of peace? Because that's where all wars will end.
- 38:17Why is, why, you know, we believe in a literal fulfillment and future program for Israel.
- 38:24And we believe that it's distinct from the church.
- 38:27Okay. And this is, it's just over and over again, the explicit scriptures there.
- 38:32So that's argument number one is they argue that the church is now new or true Israel.
- 38:38No such thing in the Bible. Matter of fact, when they use Romans chapter 2 to
- 38:43argue that, you know, he that's spiritual is one that is, you know, is spiritual.
- 38:47He says, talks about a spiritual Jew, but we'll get that in just a minute.
- 38:50But- Galatians 6.16 though, that's their anchor verse. That's one of them.
- 38:55That's one of their proof texts.
- 38:56Romans 6.16, Romans 9.6-8, that he, you know, that not, you know,
- 39:01he that's physical of Israel is not all of Israel, right? And then 1 Peter 2,
- 39:069, a holy nation. Now we're a holy nation. They're no longer a holy nation.
- 39:11But again, 1 Peter 2.9, he's talking about the royal priesthood of the believer,
- 39:15but the nation—this is again—and this is—1 Peter wrote his epistle after Pauline
- 39:21doctrine was revealed to him.
- 39:23So there are some tribulation passages and themes in 1 Peter,
- 39:28but the key to remember is that 1 Peter is also talking about there are Pauline—there's
- 39:34Pauline doctrine that's mixed throughout.
- 39:36That's why the right hermeneutic is to rightly divide.
- 39:41And our anchor point is always going to be Pauline doctrine.
- 39:44So what you do is you find out where is Peter saying something that violates
- 39:48something that Paul said.
- 39:50And here's a good rule. Here's a good rule of thumb.
- 39:53If you read something in your Bible, like, for example, Jesus tells you to cut
- 39:57off your hand because it offends you.
- 39:58But then you read about what Paul says that, hey, we're not fighting a physical
- 40:02battle. We're fighting a spiritual battle, right?
- 40:05That weapons of our warfare are not carnal, like taking a sword and cutting off your arm.
- 40:10Well, if you read something like that in Matthew, here's the immediate conclusion
- 40:15that must pertain and apply to a different dispensation, period.
- 40:22That's the simplest way to do it. If you read passages that sounds like you have to keep the law,
- 40:29if you read passages that sounds like that you've got to do something physical
- 40:34in order to prove obedience or sanctification.
- 40:38You've got it you've got to say that you know that verse violates what paul
- 40:42said and if it violates what paul says your conclusion should always be that
- 40:47must belong to a different dispensation.
- 40:49Good rule of thumb. Yep. So, the argument number two, argument number two is
- 40:53that Israel forfeited, I can't read, forfeited, forfeited, forfeited,
- 40:59forfeited, forfeited, there it is, man, I just learned English today.
- 41:04That, okay, argument number two is Israel forfeited the covenants through unbelief, okay?
- 41:10So, this is what that means. The assertion is that Israel lost her status and
- 41:15the land promises because she rejected Christ and broke the conditional Mosaic covenant.
- 41:23So, if I go to Matthew 21, Matthew chapter 21.
- 41:29Let's see, Matthew chapter 21, Matthew 21 and verse 43, pages are sticking,
- 41:3721, 43, says, therefore, say I unto you, the kingdom of God,
- 41:42watch what he says, shall be taken from you and given to a nation,
- 41:47bringing forth the fruits thereof.
- 41:49So he's telling the Jews, he said like, the kingdom of God, you guys lost the kingdom of God.
- 41:55Well, at this point, it's because the Jews essentially are fixing to crucify
- 42:00their Messiah and they've rejected the promise of the Messiah.
- 42:04Now, people don't understand that there's another opportunity given to them
- 42:08in the book of Acts and they fail that opportunity when they stone Stephen.
- 42:14Okay. But they use this verse to show, okay, well, there you go.
- 42:17The kingdom of God was transferred to the church.
- 42:21So what is wrapped up in that argument?
- 42:25Well, then if all the kingdom promises to Israel now go to the church,
- 42:30that means the land promises, everything that God promised in the Old Testament,
- 42:36all of that stuff is now shifted and transitioned to the church.
- 42:39That's the argument being made.
- 42:40So the problem is, is when you read Romans 11, 29, the Bible specifically says
- 42:45that the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
- 42:49The gifts and calling of God. When you read Romans 11, matter of fact,
- 42:53there's several places in Romans.
- 42:54Romans is actually a very important book for a New Testament Bible believer to understand.
- 42:59But if you look at Romans, well, let me read a couple of passages here in Romans
- 43:03just to kind of set the context.
- 43:05So at the end of Romans 2, where he talks about he's a Jew, which is one hourly and so forth.
- 43:10Then he says in chapter 3, verse 1, he says, What advantage then hath the Jew?
- 43:14Or what profit is there of circumcision? And he answers the question,
- 43:19Romans 3, 2, if you remember Paul being the lawyer, he says,
- 43:22much chiefly every way, much every way, I'm sorry, chiefly because that unto
- 43:27them, the Jews, were committed the oracles of God.
- 43:31They have a very specific benefit because they were given the scriptures.
- 43:36They were given the word of God. It wasn't given to the Babylonians,
- 43:39the Egyptians, the Philistines. It was given to the Jews, period, right?
- 43:43Well, if you go back to Romans chapter 9, same thing.
- 43:48He says, verse 3, he says, For I could wish myself a curse from Christ for my
- 43:55brethren, my kinsmen, according to the flesh, who are Israelites.
- 43:58Watch what he says. To whom pertaineth what? Number one, the adoption. Number two, the glory.
- 44:03Number three, the covenants. Number four, the giving of the law.
- 44:06Number five, the service of God, and number six, the promises.
- 44:10Whose are the fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? And of whom,
- 44:14as concerning the flesh, Christ came, who is overall God-blessed forever.
- 44:18So, there's a very specific benefit to being a physical Jew.
- 44:23That is who the seed of the woman came through. That is who the Messiah,
- 44:28the Savior of the earth came through, okay?
- 44:30They were given the adoption. They were given the covenants.
- 44:33They were given the glory, the service of God, the law, they were given all
- 44:36of that distinctly to the Jew, okay?
- 44:41Now, the problem is, if you go back to, then if I go to Romans 11,
- 44:46the verse in question, Romans 11, the Bible says, for the gifts and calling
- 44:52of God, this is verse 29, are without repentance.
- 44:55That means there's no abrogation. There's no denial.
- 45:00This is an irrevocable promise that has nothing to do and is not conditioned upon their obedience.
- 45:08This is Romans 11. This is after the church age started.
- 45:11This is Paul, a saved Jew, who's writing to a bunch of Gentiles in Rome.
- 45:16And he says that the gifts and calling of God, this is what he says before.
- 45:19He goes, verse 25, For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of
- 45:24this mystery. This is one of the mysteries we spoke about.
- 45:26Lest ye be, you should be wise in your own conceits as Gentiles.
- 45:30He's telling them, you guys have the danger. you risk being wise in your conceit.
- 45:35He goes, that blindness in part is happened to Israel until.
- 45:42Well, what does that word until tell you? That it's temporary.
- 45:47This is not eternal. The church has not replaced Israel permanently.
- 45:51Because he says that basically Israel has been put on hold until the fullness
- 45:56of the Gentiles become in.
- 45:58And verse 26, then he says this statement, this is an amazing statement.
- 46:02And so all Israel shall be saved. So why would that, if you go in,
- 46:07here's a good exercise, go into Romans chapter 11 and replace every time he
- 46:10says Israel, Jew, or Jew with the church. So let's read that as the church.
- 46:16And so all church, all the church shall be saved after the fullness of the Gentiles come in.
- 46:21No, the church is already saved. There's no future salvation of the church.
- 46:26The church are the body of believers.
- 46:30So he says, and so all Israel shall be, that's a future timeframe,
- 46:35shall be saved as it is written. Then he tells you what it is.
- 46:38There shall come out of Zion the deliverer who shall turn away ungodliness, uh-oh, from Jacob.
- 46:46So are we supposed to replace the word Jacob with the church here?
- 46:49Jacob means Israel because that's what his name was changed to.
- 46:53The tribulation of Jeremiah is called the time of Jacob's trouble,
- 46:57not the church's trouble.
- 46:59So, for this is my covenant, watch unto them when I shall take away their sins.
- 47:04Wait a minute, shall future tens take away their sins?
- 47:08All my sins have been paid for in the cross of Calvary.
- 47:11So, as concerning the gospel, watch, here's another one that's not going to make sense, verse 28.
- 47:16As concerning the gospel, they, Israel Jacob, are enemies for your sake.
- 47:21Okay, let's exchange that with the church. As concerning the gospel,
- 47:25the church is the enemy for your sake. Really?
- 47:29Please square that circle for me. How is the church the enemy to the gospel? It's not.
- 47:37But as touching the election, ah, the election, it has nothing to do with some
- 47:40elected few before the foundation of the earth that are going to heaven.
- 47:44No, this election is the Israel.
- 47:46As touching the election, they are beloved for the father's,
- 47:49lowercase father's sake, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob.
- 47:53For the gifts, then he says in verse 29, watch, for the gifts and calling of
- 47:57God are without, without, without repentance.
- 48:01All those promises, the promise of Zion or their deliverer, you know,
- 48:08the deliverer coming out of Zion,
- 48:10them being saved, washing away all their sins, future tense,
- 48:14is a calling and a gift that is irrevocable. They're without repentance.
- 48:23So the problem is Israel's violation of the conditional Mosaic law does not
- 48:29annul the unconditional Abrahamic covenant.
- 48:33And the reason why we say that, and let me read Galatians chapter 3,
- 48:38but in Galatians chapter 3.
- 48:40Paul is actually making a distinction. Again, distinctions are so important, man.
- 48:45Things not the same, or what is it? Things different are not the same. Is that the old saying?
- 48:49Yeah, there it is. Here's what it says in verse 17.
- 48:53And he says, and I say that the covenant that was confirmed before of God in
- 48:59Christ, the law, comma, the law, which was 430 years after.
- 49:05After what? The covenant, which is the covenant of Abraham. That's what he's
- 49:10speaking about in verse 16.
- 49:11Now to Abraham and his seed are the promises made. And he says,
- 49:15and I say that the covenant that was confirmed before God and Christ,
- 49:18and then the law, which was 430 years after the covenant, it says.
- 49:25Cannot disannul that it should make the promise of none effect.
- 49:29For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more promise,
- 49:32but God gave it to Abraham by promise. So what is he saying?
- 49:34He's basically saying the Mosaic covenant cannot abrogate. It cannot undermine,
- 49:40it does not disannul the Abrahamic covenant.
- 49:43The Mosaic covenant is conditional.
- 49:47When God let them go into the land of Canaan, he says, if you will obey my laws,
- 49:52if you will keep these commandments, if you will do this, if,
- 49:56and you know, he gave them 663 commandments in the Mosaic covenant.
- 50:00You know what the condition was? That they would prosper in the land.
- 50:04Let me read you something. I just read this this morning in Joshua.
- 50:08He says this in Joshua chapter 1, he says, He says, Moses, my servant, is dead.
- 50:14Chapter 1, verse 2. Moses, my servant, is dead. Now, therefore,
- 50:18arise, go over this Jordan, thou and all this people.
- 50:21Watch what he says. Unto the land which I do give them, even to the children of Israel.
- 50:25Well, here's the thing. Is that a physical promise or is that a spiritual promise?
- 50:30Yeah, he's literally telling them, I want you to go across that River Jordan.
- 50:34What River Jordan? Oh, the spiritual River Jordan.
- 50:38No, it's a physical river. They're looking at it. And he says this,
- 50:41every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon.
- 50:44He goes, that have I given unto you as I said unto Moses, not Abraham.
- 50:51You've got to watch what the Bible's saying here. He's not talking about Abraham here.
- 50:55Listen to the promises. From the wilderness of this Lebanon,
- 50:58even unto the great river that you're ever rephrased, all the land of the Hittites
- 51:01under the great sea towards the going down of the sun shall be your coast.
- 51:04There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life.
- 51:08As I was with Moses, he's referring to Moses constantly, so will I be with thee.
- 51:15I will not fail thee nor forsake thee. Be strong and have a good courage.
- 51:18For unto this people shall thou divide for an inheritance of the land which
- 51:22I swear unto their fathers to give them.
- 51:24Only be thou strong, very courageous, that thou mayest watch,
- 51:29observe to do or according to all the law, which Moses, my servant, commanded.
- 51:35Turn not from the right hand, nor to the left, that thou mayest prosper.
- 51:40Now listen, I'm going to say that again. He goes, this is what God's telling Joshua.
- 51:45Turn not from it, which is the law of Moses, to the right hand,
- 51:50nor to the left. Why? What's the consequences?
- 51:53That thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest That's the condition What's the condition?
- 52:00If they obey the Mosaic Covenant, they're going to prosper He doesn't say,
- 52:04if you disobey the Mosaic Covenant, you no longer have right to this land.
- 52:10The Mosaic Covenant gave them the right to enjoy the land.
- 52:15The Abrahamic Covenant gave them the right of ownership.
- 52:20Distinctions, my friend, distinctions. Yeah.
- 52:23If you fail to make the distinction between the Mosaic Covenant and the Abrahamic
- 52:28Covenant, you will fall a victim to replacement theology every single time.
- 52:34You go down this path and you just create a huge mess. like it gets bigger and
- 52:39bigger the further down you go.
- 52:41And yeah, the first argument in this argument here regarding the covenants,
- 52:46it's just a dumpster fire at the end.
- 52:48I mean, this is only the first two out of the six. That Israel forfeited the covenant.
- 52:52Well, how do they forfeit an unconditional covenant?
- 52:56Abraham. Oh, you have to conflate the Mosaic and Abrahamic covenant.
- 53:00I get it. See the problem?
- 53:03That's the strength of their argument. The strength of their argument is they
- 53:06have to conflate and equivocate the Abrahamic and Mosaic covenants.
- 53:12You have to ignore the distinctions and make them the same. A lot of our fundamentalist
- 53:17friends do that with passages of scripture.
- 53:19You know, oh, you know, the Old Testament looked forward to the cross and we
- 53:23looked back to the cross.
- 53:25That's equivocating. That's conflating. Shots fired. Okay, but here's the problem. That's true.
- 53:31So Matthew 21, 43, it's a temporary administrative shift to a fruit-bearing
- 53:36generation, which is the Gentiles in Christ, it's not a permanent abrogation
- 53:41of the unconditional national promises.
- 53:43There's nothing in these arguments, and at least the first two arguments that
- 53:46we looked at, that abrogate or undermine or disannul the Abrahamic covenant.
- 53:52And there's nothing in these two arguments that prove that the church has replaced Israel.
- 53:58You have to read that into the text so that it supports your theological disposition.
- 54:05Have to. So, what's the principle being, you know, the first principle that
- 54:10was being violated is they destroy the distinct identity of Israel and the church.
- 54:14Well, what's the principle being violated here?
- 54:16They destroy the distinction between the unconditional Abrahamic covenant and
- 54:21the conditional Mosaic covenant.
- 54:23This is their strategy. This is how they operate. They have to operate this
- 54:26way to support their theology.
- 54:28I mean, you really, really have to stretch yourself, though.
- 54:32And I suppose this is where you have to allegorize these things.
- 54:39You have to create an arbitrary approach to this type of theology in order to make it fit.
- 54:46That's why I always, always argue, especially about Calvinism,
- 54:51is that it's not a biblical or hermeneutic.
- 54:54Hermeneutic just simply means the way you interpret and study the scriptures.
- 54:58But Calvinism and replacement theology, which go hand in hand,
- 55:01is not a biblical hermeneutic.
- 55:03What it is, it's a commitment to a theological framework, not what the Bible says.
- 55:10They have to read Calvinism into Scripture.
- 55:13They have to read the five points of Calvinist theology into Scripture.
- 55:18They have to read replacement theology into Scripture. They have to,
- 55:23because they must maintain their commitment to their theological disposition.
- 55:30They have to. And they really double down on dispensationalism,
- 55:33because that's really what undermines all of their arguments. Yeah.
- 55:38And most of them can't articulate it correctly.
- 55:41They misrepresent dispensationalism.
- 55:45So, the first argument is that the church is the new or true Israel.
- 55:49The second argument is Israel forfeited the covenants through unbelief.
- 55:53The third argument is that the covenants are fulfilled spiritually in Christ, not literally.
- 55:59Okay? So, that they believe that the physical land promises, right?
- 56:03They were only just types and shadows that are now fulfilled spiritually in
- 56:07Christ and the heavenly Jerusalem.
- 56:09So, they'll take Hebrews 12, 22. Let me read that.
- 56:12Hebrews chapter 12 and verse 22.
- 56:15Hebrews 12.22, the Bible says, But ye are come unto Mount Zion and unto the
- 56:22city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels.
- 56:27So there's no more physical Jerusalem. It's a heavenly Jerusalem.
- 56:31The physical Jerusalem is now basically defunct. It doesn't exist anymore.
- 56:36There's no promises tied to that city.
- 56:38Everything you read about Jerusalem in the future is only a type and picture
- 56:42and shadow. It's all fulfilled in heavenly Jerusalem.
- 56:45So that's one of them. And then, of course, Galatians 3.29, this is going to be regarding the seed.
- 56:51Galatians 3.29, the Bible says, And if ye be Christ's, watch,
- 56:56then ye are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
- 57:00Therefore, all the Abrahamic promises are now fulfilled in Christ.
- 57:04And if you're a Gentile inside of Christ, you are now part of Abraham's seed.
- 57:08So all the Old Testament promises are now defunct.
- 57:12Spiritualized. They cannot mean what they mean literally. They cannot.
- 57:18This is why they'll admit it. They'll tell you. You cannot read,
- 57:23interpret the Bible literally.
- 57:25If you're doing that, you're studying your Bible incorrectly.
- 57:28I've heard him say that straight from the horse's mouth.
- 57:311 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians 1 and verse 20.
- 57:36This is another verse. 2 Corinthians 1 and verse 20, the Bible says,
- 57:42for all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him amen unto the glory of God by us.
- 57:49Again, they use these verses to show that all the Old Testament promises are
- 57:56now fulfilled spiritually.
- 57:59They were never intended to be interpreted literally.
- 58:04So that's, I just want to make sure that we understand the argument here.
- 58:07So when you see those verses about a heavenly Jerusalem, everybody in Christ
- 58:13is now part of Abraham's seed, and that all the promises are fulfilled in God
- 58:19spiritually, they do not mean what they mean literally.
- 58:23Okay? So here's the problem. If I go back to Jeremiah, let's say Jeremiah chapter
- 58:2831, the Bible says some very interesting stuff here. Now listen to what it says.
- 58:34Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day.
- 58:38I wonder if he's speaking figuratively here. It's a spiritual sun. Yep.
- 58:43And the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night.
- 58:47Again, I wonder if those are just spiritual stars.
- 58:50Or is he talking literally here? I mean, it's hard to say, right?
- 58:53I mean, once you start throwing literal interpretation out of scripture,
- 58:56there's no guardrails. There's no way to interpret.
- 59:00Everything now becomes subjective. How do I know if this is a spiritual son or a physical son?
- 59:06Yeah, he's the arbiter of that too. I mean, who makes such determination?
- 59:10Somebody for you? Yeah, it fails the arbitrary test. So here's the problem.
- 59:15So he says, thus saith the Lord, verse 35, Jeremiah 31, 35.
- 59:19Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day,
- 59:22and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night,
- 59:26which divide the sea when the waves thereof roar, the Lord of hosts is his name. colon.
- 59:32He's going to continue the thought here, verse 36. If those ordinances,
- 59:36what ordinances? The sun, the moon, the stars.
- 59:39If those ordinances depart from before me, sayeth the Lord, watch,
- 59:44then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation,
- 59:49a nation, a nation, a nation before me forever.
- 59:54What is God admitting to here? He says, if you can get rid of the sun,
- 59:59moon the stars, I'll get rid of the nation of Israel.
- 1:00:02Oh, that means the church. How do you figure? Well, those verses we gave you in the New Testament.
- 1:00:07So you're saying that this passage here is not literal then?
- 1:00:11See the problem? You start creating contradictions. And then verse 37,
- 1:00:15he says, Thus saith the Lord, if heaven above can be measured,
- 1:00:19if you can accurately measure the universe and the foundations of the earth
- 1:00:25can be searched out beneath,
- 1:00:26I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done,
- 1:00:31saith the Lord. Hmm, that seems like a problem.
- 1:00:34That almost sounds like God is guaranteeing that the nation of Israel will always exist in perpetuity.
- 1:00:43That's what it sounds like. Unless you can get rid of the sun,
- 1:00:45moon, and stars. But that's not happening.
- 1:00:47Well, good thing that's probably the only verse that says that.
- 1:00:49Oh, wait a minute. Let's go to Jeremiah chapter 33.
- 1:00:52Wait, there's more? Chapter 33. Let's look at this. Jeremiah chapter 33, look at verse 25.
- 1:00:58Thus saith the Lord, if my covenant be not with day and night,
- 1:01:02and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth, verse 26,
- 1:01:06then will I cast away the seed of Jacob and David, my servant,
- 1:01:11so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham,
- 1:01:14Isaac, and Jacob. Very specific, the fathers.
- 1:01:17For I will cause their captivity to return. Oh, there's going to be a return of their captivity?
- 1:01:22And have mercy on them. Hmm.
- 1:01:26Well, I wonder if the Bible says anything more about that. That's kind of a
- 1:01:29strange statement. Well, let's look at Malachi chapter 3. Malachi chapter 3.
- 1:01:34I mean, you understand that you have to throw these verses out.
- 1:01:37These verses cannot mean what they're saying.
- 1:01:41Malachi 3, verse 6, this is what God says, for I am the Lord, capital L-O-R-D.
- 1:01:47So when it's all caps like that, that's Jehovah God.
- 1:01:50I am the Lord, watch, I change not, therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
- 1:01:57God just said his immutable existence, his unchanging, invariable existence
- 1:02:04as God Almighty guarantees the existence of the sons of Jacob.
- 1:02:09As long as he is there, they are there. That's essentially what he's saying.
- 1:02:12So, if the covenants are fulfilled spiritually and there's no longer a physical
- 1:02:18Israel and a physical nation, then these promises either have to be,
- 1:02:22they cannot be literal or they're untrue.
- 1:02:26Or they failed. Remember Romans 11, 29, the gift of calling of God without repentance.
- 1:02:33Yeah. It cannot be allegorized. So here's the thing. I wonder if this is the
- 1:02:37only verse. Oh, wait a minute. There's more.
- 1:02:40Isaiah chapter 66 and verse 2. Isaiah 66 and verse 2.
- 1:02:45Isaiah chapter 66 and verse 2.
- 1:02:48I'm sorry if I get frustrated and sarcastic here because I'm so sick and tired
- 1:02:53of replacement theologians lying to the people of God.
- 1:02:57And I'm so tired of this Laodicean church age that don't know how to pick up
- 1:03:02their Bible and study it.
- 1:03:04This is why Christians today are falling into this replacement theology junk.
- 1:03:09But listen, Isaiah 66, here's what he says. Verse 2, he says,
- 1:03:14I'm sorry, Isaiah chapter 66 and verse...
- 1:03:19You must be looking through your complex note system with arrows pointing everywhere.
- 1:03:24Yeah, something like that.
- 1:03:26Where is it? I know it's the end of this chapter. Hold on.
- 1:03:28Verse of the new heavens, new earth, shall she see. Oh, there it is.
- 1:03:31Verse 22. 22, not two. My bad. I need to put another two on that.
- 1:03:35So for as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make,
- 1:03:38right, shall remain before me.
- 1:03:40That sounds awfully a lot like Revelation 22.
- 1:03:43For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make,
- 1:03:47shall remain before me, saith the Lord, watch, so shall your seed and your name.
- 1:03:54I wonder who he's talking about. Oh, verse 20, the children of Israel.
- 1:03:58So shall your seed and your name remain.
- 1:04:02That means after the heavens and the earth have been dissolved and he makes
- 1:04:07a new heaven and a new earth, he's guaranteeing the existence of Israel.
- 1:04:12How do you explain that? You can't.
- 1:04:15He means what he says. Well, maybe that's the only verse. Oh, wait a minute.
- 1:04:19Amos 9, 14. Amos 9 and verse 14.
- 1:04:26I know it's in the Old Testament or it's in the New Testament. It's one of the two.
- 1:04:29Amos holding on to too many pages here,
- 1:04:34Amos we like the bible sound the page is turning am I alright Hosea this is
- 1:04:42a newer bible so my pages are stuck together it's crisp.
- 1:04:47That's our signature sound, you know, the immutable word. That's right.
- 1:04:50Immutable word. There you go.
- 1:04:53Okay, 9. Okay, Amos chapter 9 and verse 14 and 15.
- 1:04:58Amos 9, 14, 15. The Bible says this, And I will bring again the captivity of
- 1:05:03my people Israel, and they shall build the waste cities and inhabit them.
- 1:05:07They shall plant vineyards, and they shall drink the wine thereof.
- 1:05:11They shall also make the gardens and eat the fruit of them, and I will plant
- 1:05:15them upon their land. their land, their land, and they shall no more be pulled
- 1:05:21up out of their land, which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God.
- 1:05:26Hmm. I wonder if that literally means what that means.
- 1:05:30And again, we read Romans 11, 29, all Israel is going to be saved.
- 1:05:34The gifts of calling of God are without repentance.
- 1:05:38So the problem with this is that the scriptures tell us that That God links
- 1:05:45Israel's physical national existence to the permanence of the sun, the moon, and the stars.
- 1:05:51He links their physical national existence to his own existence,
- 1:05:56his own divine nature as a being.
- 1:06:00He guarantees a physical future, and he refers constantly to Abraham,
- 1:06:06Isaac, and Jacob, which connects it back to the Abrahamic covenant,
- 1:06:09which is connected to the land. Right.
- 1:06:13So, spiritual fulfillment in
- 1:06:14Israel does not exhaust or negate the literal details of these prophecies.
- 1:06:19So, the problem, and again, if anybody knows anything about prophecy,
- 1:06:25is prophecy is always literal.
- 1:06:27Luke 24, when he's on the road to Emmaus with the two disciples.
- 1:06:34And of course, you know what he does? he rebukes them because,
- 1:06:36you know, they're freaking out over the crucifixion, the burial of three days
- 1:06:41in the tomb, and then the resurrection.
- 1:06:43And he says, oh fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have
- 1:06:48spoken. That's what he said.
- 1:06:50He's rebuking them for not literally accepting what the prophets have prophesied.
- 1:06:57You see that? It's a literal, they deny the literality of those prophecies.
- 1:07:04He's not telling them, oh, you guys, well, you know, you just accepted them spiritually speaking.
- 1:07:09No, no, no, no, no. They rejected the literal fulfillment of those prophecies.
- 1:07:15Prophecy is always literal. So, here's the problem. The spiritual fulfillment
- 1:07:19of the church has nothing to do
- 1:07:21with the entity or the ethnicity or the nationality of Israel. never does.
- 1:07:27The church, again, remember we studied the mystery, is it's inserted as a parenthesis in the timeline.
- 1:07:33It doesn't cancel the overall prophetic program for national Israel,
- 1:07:38but it's interrupted until the fullness of the Gentiles comes in.
- 1:07:43That's what the Bible tells us. And the only thing that makes sense is that
- 1:07:47Israel is not the church, and
- 1:07:49Israel and the church has not fulfilled the covenants of God spiritually.
- 1:07:55So, what's the principle that's being violated with this argument is a denial
- 1:08:00of the literal grammatical historical hermeneutic.
- 1:08:03You read your Bible, you trust it for what it says. That means you as an individual
- 1:08:09believer can read your Bible without a priest interpreting it or a church interpreting
- 1:08:14it for you or a theological disposition.
- 1:08:17You can literally believe what the scripture is saying exactly how it says it.
- 1:08:22So that's the argument is the covenants are fulfilled spiritually, not literally.
- 1:08:28So that's, Again, the argument is defunct because it doesn't mean what it basically means.
- 1:08:35Yeah, pretty clear as day. So we're three arguments in now.
- 1:08:40So we, just a quick recap here. So argument one, the church is the new or true Israel.
- 1:08:47The principle is that the distinct identity of Israel and the church will be destroyed.
- 1:08:50It was destroyed, sorry. The
- 1:08:52argument number two is Israel forfeited the covenants through unbelief,
- 1:08:57where the principle is unconditional nature of the Abrahamic covenant which
- 1:09:01was covered and then this one here was the covenants are fulfilled spiritually
- 1:09:05not literally as our argument but the principle here is literal grammatical historical.
- 1:09:11Hermeneutic did I say that right?
- 1:09:13Hermeneutic yeah Hermeneutic okay there we go yep so we got three more arguments
- 1:09:20to go I was going to suggest since we're over we're over an hour in we could
- 1:09:25slice it off here and then continue with a follow-on.
- 1:09:29The next 10, yeah, we could do that. The next 15, yeah.
- 1:09:33Yeah, no, that's fine. We could pick up again. But I just want to,
- 1:09:36you know, I want to stress just
- 1:09:38kind of as a, you know, kind of to summarize and tie it off of the bow.
- 1:09:45What I'm hoping is that our listeners are seeing that in order to get engaged
- 1:09:50or fall into this trap that the church is now Israel, and Israel,
- 1:09:55even modern-day Israel today, is no longer really Israel,
- 1:09:57you have to toss out your Bible.
- 1:10:00You have to ignore what your Bible plainly says, and you have to take obscure
- 1:10:04verses, and you've got to reinterpret them so they fit your theological hermeneutic
- 1:10:11or method of study or interpretation.
- 1:10:13You have to. That's the only way you can make these arguments stand fast.
- 1:10:18So people like, that's why, you know, we talked about in episode 14 about Tucker
- 1:10:22Carlson and Candace Owens is political pundits are not theologians and theologians
- 1:10:27are not Bible students a lot of times.
- 1:10:30What we need to be is just to be a Bible believer and literally,
- 1:10:33you can believe your Bible without having to change it, reinterpret it,
- 1:10:36run to the Greek or the Hebrew, or try to force it into a theological hermeneutic.
- 1:10:41You don't have to do that. All you got to do is do exactly what God said and to rightly divide.
- 1:10:46That means in order to rightly divide, you need to identify the distinctions.
- 1:10:49And when you study out those distinctions, you have to come to conclusions that
- 1:10:54fit what the Bible is saying.
- 1:10:56Because if your conclusions force you to reinterpret the passage,
- 1:11:01spiritualize the passage, or make it fit whatever your church's or pastor's
- 1:11:06teaching is, then you've got the wrong hermeneutic.
- 1:11:09Period. The only right interpretation of Scripture is the one that allows Scripture to interpret itself.
- 1:11:16We've said that before, and we will say that over and over again.
- 1:11:19So what I would say to that guy that commented, yeah, we deleted your comments
- 1:11:24because it was basically unfruitful.
- 1:11:27I'm telling you right now that you are dead wrong. You have no idea what your scripture is saying.
- 1:11:33You have to commit yourself to this hermeneutic that you're so faithful to,
- 1:11:38you're going to be blinded by what the scriptures actually say.
- 1:11:41And any hermeneutic that makes
- 1:11:44Israel an enemy of God is one that's perpetuated by the devil. I'm sorry.
- 1:11:50It's a devilish wisdom. the devil was told in Genesis 3 that the head of his
- 1:11:57seed would be bruised by the heel of the woman's seed, which is Jesus Christ.
- 1:12:03Therefore, the devil, since the Garden of Eden, has been on a rampage to destroy that Jew.
- 1:12:10You see it with Pharaoh trying to destroy the children of Israel in Exodus 1 and 2.
- 1:12:15You see it with Herod and them trying to destroy the children after the birth
- 1:12:19of Christ, it's because that devil wanted to do everything he could to destroy the seed of God.
- 1:12:25He had Balaam convince Balak, the king, to mix and hybridize the seed of Israel
- 1:12:31so that he could try to destroy again the seed.
- 1:12:34That's why the devil sent angels, the sons of God, to cohabitate with women
- 1:12:40in Genesis 6, because why?
- 1:12:42He wanted to destroy the seed.
- 1:12:44And if you can't see that, that you're blind as a bat going in backwards.
- 1:12:48You know what I mean? And that, you know, so whoever you are,
- 1:12:52you, you know, replacement theologian, you, you armchair theologian,
- 1:12:56read your Bible, man, throw away your stupid theology books and your commentaries
- 1:12:59and just read your Bible and believe what it says and learn how to rightly divide.
- 1:13:04And for you Christians, you know, have, you know, have some sense about you
- 1:13:08where you can read your Bible instead of having to read and interpret it the
- 1:13:12way another person reads it.
- 1:13:14You ought to do is just sit down and believe God for what he says.
- 1:13:17And, you know, if you read some kind of a study that forces you to throw out
- 1:13:22half your Bible and say, oh, that doesn't really mean what it means,
- 1:13:25then you ought to really examine your belief system.
- 1:13:29Do you actually believe the words of God or do you believe the words of men?
- 1:13:33So anyway, I'm kind of upset about this whole thing.
- 1:13:37I've been kind of frustrated just because I get so sick and tired of it because
- 1:13:40I see comment after comment after comment.
- 1:13:43And some of these are King James only Bible believers that are saying this kind of stuff.
- 1:13:46It's really frustrating. And that's really frustrating, yeah.
- 1:13:49Or at least they claim to be King James Bible believers.
- 1:13:53Yep. But, you know, we've said it before, like, you gotta read your Bible, you gotta know it.
- 1:13:57You gotta be able to, you know, Satan uses this stuff to mess Christians up, mess people up.
- 1:14:02It's becoming so prevalent, especially in the social media space,
- 1:14:07and Christians are just falling right into it because they don't know their
- 1:14:10bible they don't know to rightly divide
- 1:14:13and you see people fall victim to
- 1:14:16it all the time so this is why listeners should stick around we got three more
- 1:14:20to go what's probably going to happen this week is you might have to take this
- 1:14:24one on the road and you got to leave for a work trip and so we might do that
- 1:14:27if not i have an old episode like i would like to relaunch that's not available
- 1:14:32right now so either way we're going to have something,
- 1:14:35but stick around for the last three arguments to complete the cycle.
- 1:14:40And I think this is really, really important for Christians to know.
- 1:14:43Yeah. And if you guys have any questions.
- 1:14:45Us finish the arguments. We might answer your question.
- 1:14:49But if we don't, after we've covered all six arguments, you know,
- 1:14:52absolutely feel free to email us anything that you need.
- 1:14:56And, you know, we'd be happy to kind of put these verses together and,
- 1:14:59you know, highlight it and get you the show notes as well.
- 1:15:02So we just want to try to help believers just trust what God said,
- 1:15:06trust that the Bible is exactly what it says it is, and that we can trust it in its plain sense.
- 1:15:12We don't have to reinterpret anything and stay away.
- 1:15:15When you hear supersessionism, replacement theology, Calvinism,
- 1:15:20Catholicism, when you hear those terms being thrown out and you start hearing
- 1:15:25that Israel isn't Israel and the modern state of Israel, the Christian has never
- 1:15:30promised to pray for Israel and so forth and so on,
- 1:15:33that get away from those people as fast as you can and get in your Bible.
- 1:15:36That's what I would suggest. Yep. Yep.
- 1:15:40Good advice. All right. We'll circle back either next week or the following week to finish this out.
- 1:15:48Theimmutableword at gmail.com if you have any questions or leave a comment,
- 1:15:52like or dislike. Either way, we like the interaction.
- 1:15:54And hopefully we'll see you next week, Lord willing. Yep. Thanks.
