- 0:09Speaker 1: with Jonah Kumail, and you're listening to another meltdown, a
- 0:11Speaker 1: movie meltdown.
- 0:22Speaker 2: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:25Speaker 2: Picture Association of America.
- 0:26Speaker 3: It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:41Speaker 4: It's showtime, folks. Enjoy the show.
- 0:46Speaker 5: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Provide more cooling in.
- 1:17Speaker 5: The containment chamber.
- 1:18Speaker 4: To your stations, we have a movie meltdown.
- 1:21Speaker 5: Jesus Christ, man!
- 1:22Speaker 2: There's just some things you don't talk about in public!
- 1:34Speaker 2: What's up? Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I'm Misty.
- 1:37Speaker 5: I'm Jake.
- 1:38Speaker 2: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from Lexington,
- 1:42Speaker 2: home of the Lexington Toy and Comic Convention.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Woo!
- 1:45Speaker 1: Woo-hoo! We've been coming to this for how many years?
- 1:48Speaker 2: A lot. I can't keep track anymore. How long has
- 1:50Speaker 2: there been one? Because pretty much since then.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I don't know. Did we miss a year? Did they
- 1:56Speaker 1: do one COVID year?
- 1:57Speaker 5: The pandemic.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I think everything sort of was on hold that
- 2:00Speaker 2: year at least, if not two years. But we are
- 2:03Speaker 2: definitely back and in full force because there are a
- 2:06Speaker 2: lot of people.
- 2:07Speaker 1: God damn, there's a lot of people.
- 2:09Speaker 2: And wearing a lot of costumes.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Oh my god, they're everywhere.
- 2:11Speaker 2: This is maybe more costumes than I've seen in, I
- 2:14Speaker 2: don't know.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Well, they've been in hiding for the past couple of years.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I think that's it. I think they dusted off all
- 2:18Speaker 2: the cosplay action and.
- 2:19Speaker 5: Busted it out. Yeah, I think the anime voice people
- 2:23Speaker 5: brought out a lot of people in costume today. Especially
- 2:26Speaker 5: a lot of kids. I've noticed a lot more kids
- 2:28Speaker 5: in the anime.
- 2:29Speaker 4: You know.
- 2:31Speaker 2: It's becoming the whole new wave of kids. It is.
- 2:35Speaker 5: It's a new wave of kids, even today. Younger than
- 2:38Speaker 5: my kid. And even my kid's to the point now
- 2:40Speaker 5: where she's like, I enjoy the classics. I'm like, shut
- 2:43Speaker 5: the fuck up.
- 2:44Speaker 2: She's an old lady now.
- 2:45Speaker 1: What classics is she talking about?
- 2:46Speaker 5: She's talking about Akira, Ninja Scroll.
- 2:50Speaker 2: The only ones I've heard of usually.
- 2:52Speaker 5: Yeah, Fist of the North Star.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I've heard of DE. Yeah, stuff that I was.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Like watching a long time ago. We were trying, we
- 3:00Speaker 5: had to have this, we had a local comic book
- 3:04Speaker 5: shop where I lived and the lady who owned it
- 3:08Speaker 5: Shout out to TBS Comics in Fort Walton Beach. She
- 3:12Speaker 5: used to go to the huge Comic-Cons. I think she
- 3:18Speaker 5: went to Japan a couple times.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Before they were as commonplace as they are today.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, there were no Comic-Cons around. Especially, they
- 3:24Speaker 5: didn't come out on the East Coast. And she would
- 3:26Speaker 5: go and get anime and bring it back for us.
- 3:30Speaker 1: She was your dealer?
- 3:31Speaker 5: She was my dealer. She got me a copy of.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Crying Freeman, the live action that had Mark Dacascos in
- 3:41Speaker 5: it that at the time you couldn't get because it
- 3:44Speaker 5: was filmed. I think it was only available in Canada,
- 3:47Speaker 5: but she got me a Japanese bootleg of it. I
- 3:52Speaker 5: think it's in Japanese, but it's got English subtitles.
- 3:57Speaker 1: What do you mean filmed live?
- 3:59Speaker 5: It's a live action.
- 4:00Speaker 1: A live action. I thought you meant like They were
- 4:02Speaker 1: doing like a production.
- 4:03Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no.
- 4:04Speaker 5: It's like the Crying Freeman's an anime. And she used
- 4:08Speaker 5: to get me the novels, the graphic novels.
- 4:11Speaker 1: In my head, I was picturing like a stage production,
- 4:13Speaker 1: like Broadway.
- 4:14Speaker 5: No, no.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I mean, everything's a musical at this point.
- 4:17Speaker 5: But the only way I'd heard of it was it
- 4:20Speaker 5: was in Fangoria. So Fangoria did this thing that had, gosh,
- 4:26Speaker 5: I don't even remember what issue it was in. I
- 4:28Speaker 5: just remember that Fist of the North Star was one
- 4:31Speaker 5: of them. And then it had Crying Freeman. And I
- 4:35Speaker 5: liked Mark Dacascos because he was in a lot of
- 4:36Speaker 5: other martial arts movies that I liked. But I was like,
- 4:40Speaker 5: holy shit, they made a live action of Crying Freeman.
- 4:43Speaker 5: I've got to get that. So she was able to
- 4:45Speaker 5: get it for me and get it back to the U.S.
- 4:48Speaker 5: And it's sad after all these years that I can't
- 4:50Speaker 5: remember her name. I think her daughter runs the comic
- 4:54Speaker 5: shop now. But every once in a while we go
- 4:56Speaker 5: back down there and visit. And they seem to be
- 4:59Speaker 5: doing pretty good. So that's cool. I'm glad that they,
- 5:03Speaker 5: you know, keep all the nerds going down there.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Keep them supplied.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Keep them supplied, yeah.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I mean, the market eventually caught up with them. You
- 5:10Speaker 2: just had to wait like 30 years.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:13Speaker 2: The world changed and catered to everything you've been doing
- 5:16Speaker 2: for your entire career.
- 5:18Speaker 5: Yeah, it was a small shop back in the day,
- 5:20Speaker 5: and now it's like pretty huge.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Again, it's just a market now. Like, there was nothing
- 5:24Speaker 2: but a tiny little group of geeks that were buying
- 5:27Speaker 2: stuff back then. But now, I mean, it's the main
- 5:30Speaker 2: thing that they produce now.
- 5:31Speaker 5: Yeah, and they do a lot of tabletop gaming and stuff.
- 5:35Speaker 5: They've got a whole big area dedicated to tabletop gaming,
- 5:39Speaker 5: which is pretty cool. I don't do that.
- 5:42Speaker 2: It's own crazy thing, yeah. Every time I go in
- 5:44Speaker 2: one of those places, I'm like, this is like a
- 5:46Speaker 2: whole other world.
- 5:48Speaker 5: Yeah, and my kid's into that, but she doesn't do
- 5:53Speaker 5: local tabletop gaming. She does online tabletop gaming. Which I'm
- 5:57Speaker 5: not even sure how that works.
- 5:59Speaker 2: You can't use the same table.
- 6:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:01Speaker 2: It's weird.
- 6:02Speaker 5: They have. But they have.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Tables all over the world. Yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 5: She plays against people in like Russia and England. And
- 6:10Speaker 5: she's got her own little group of all these people
- 6:13Speaker 5: from all around the world. And they get together and
- 6:14Speaker 5: they play. What is it?
- 6:17Speaker 1: Warhammer.
- 6:17Speaker 5: Warhammer.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yeah. So.
- 6:20Speaker 5: That's kind of cool. You know. It's not like. Not
- 6:23Speaker 5: like the kids of our generation that gathered around, you know,
- 6:27Speaker 5: the dining room table or in the basement.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Basement.
- 6:29Speaker 5: Yeah. And, you know, played D & D or.
- 6:32Speaker 2: But how do they know there are Warhammer little lead
- 6:34Speaker 2: figures there if they're in a different country?
- 6:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how that works.
- 6:38Speaker 5: It doesn't... I don't understand. But you know what? That's cool.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Things have evolved.
- 6:45Speaker 1: We're too old for that.
- 6:46Speaker 5: We don't understand. Yeah. Technology.
- 6:48Speaker 2: You just are into it.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Are you.
- 6:51Speaker 2: You can still be old and still into it, but
- 6:54Speaker 2: try to transfer interest this late in the game. I
- 6:57Speaker 2: don't know. Do we have any other stuff from today?
- 7:03Speaker 2: We've already seen.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I spent way too much money on Bronze Age horror comics.
- 7:10Speaker 2: You have some horror comics going at this point.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I didn't even buy that many, but I mean... Usually I, like,
- 7:15Speaker 1: buy dirt cheap shit, because I'm, like, thrifty with my stuff. Like,
- 7:21Speaker 1: a dollar, two dollars, maybe three, but, you know. When
- 7:23Speaker 1: they're five dollars a pop, I gotta limit myself, otherwise
- 7:25Speaker 1: I could have bought, like, the entire fucking place, and
- 7:27Speaker 1: then I'd be bankrupt, so.
- 7:30Speaker 2: It is dangerous. Yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 1: But, yeah, going in there today, it's like, there was
- 7:35Speaker 1: a pandemic a couple years ago? Because it didn't. There
- 7:37Speaker 1: was not even, like, the slightest hint of it. I mean,
- 7:39Speaker 1: everything seems like it's totally back to normal. There's... Everybody
- 7:42Speaker 1: came out in full force. There was... Maybe too many people,
- 7:47Speaker 1: for my personal liking.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Again, that's just us being antisocial as it is. But,
- 7:55Speaker 2: I mean, again, it's good that they're reloaded. I'm beginning
- 7:59Speaker 2: to wonder, because there's so many day-to-day businesses that went under,
- 8:03Speaker 2: and even places that are still out there, but I
- 8:05Speaker 2: feel like the crowds never came back. So, I mean,
- 8:08Speaker 2: it's good that these special event kind of things people
- 8:10Speaker 2: are still coming out for, because... I don't know. Day-to-day
- 8:13Speaker 2: stuff is not the same as it was even before.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Yeah, it does kind of blow my mind. A lot
- 8:17Speaker 5: of people now would rather get Uber Eats or DoorDash
- 8:26Speaker 5: rather than go to a restaurant and sit down and
- 8:28Speaker 5: eat because they're like, oh, it's too many people. But
- 8:30Speaker 5: then conventions come around and they're like, hell yeah, convention.
- 8:33Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Well, then they get all the people in out in
- 8:35Speaker 1: one day.
- 8:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess. I don't know.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Like, all right, I've had my quota of people. Now
- 8:40Speaker 1: it's DoorDash for the rest of the year.
- 8:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess. I'm not even sure.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I've said that for, again, the last several years, though.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I was like, as it's gone on and I've seen
- 8:48Speaker 2: people get more and more comfortable with that, it's like,
- 8:50Speaker 2: I think it really is a thing. And like, I
- 8:52Speaker 2: don't know that we're going back to the way it was. Like,
- 8:55Speaker 2: I think a lot of people got real comfortable with
- 8:57Speaker 2: Working from home and just not ever having to go
- 9:00Speaker 2: out to get food. Even now, the grocery brings you food.
- 9:03Speaker 2: You don't even have to go to the grocery to
- 9:04Speaker 2: get your food.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Walmart brings you stuff.
- 9:06Speaker 5: See, I didn't get that.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I didn't do that either, but I know so many
- 9:10Speaker 2: people that did that.
- 9:11Speaker 1: You can't weld.
- 9:13Speaker 5: I can't weld from home.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I mean, you can. I don't think it's going to
- 9:15Speaker 2: be quite the demand as it is.
- 9:16Speaker 5: Well, we don't have the infrastructure at the house set
- 9:21Speaker 5: up to do the kind of welding that I do.
- 9:23Speaker 2: You need to work on it. Start building your wing.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Your hangar.
- 9:28Speaker 5: It's so expensive.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Just the big truck door at the back of it.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, there are a couple guys that have
- 9:37Speaker 5: worked out of their homes, but they have.
- 9:41Speaker 1: A lot of money.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I just know so many people that once it
- 9:45Speaker 2: became an option, and now every week on the news
- 9:49Speaker 2: they bring up that even the people that have gone
- 9:52Speaker 2: back to the regular workaday world they're pushing for this
- 9:55Speaker 2: four day work week now because I think everybody just
- 9:58Speaker 2: got so comfortable. They're like, look, I can get stuff done.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I don't have to be here all day, every day.
- 10:03Speaker 2: So it's like, they really have like cut back. And
- 10:05Speaker 2: I think people appreciate.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I would be all for a four day weekend.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Well, I mean, but you still get paid. That's the thing.
- 10:12Speaker 2: The way they're doing it now, you work the same
- 10:14Speaker 2: amount of, you know, you work four days, but you
- 10:16Speaker 2: still get paid the same amount. And everybody is actually
- 10:19Speaker 2: getting more stuff done. The productivity is way up on
- 10:22Speaker 2: the places that have tried it.
- 10:23Speaker 5: Well, yeah, because you get more rest and you get
- 10:25Speaker 5: to spend time with your family. And that's the thing.
- 10:28Speaker 5: You get to spend time with your family and, again, rest,
- 10:33Speaker 5: which is something most of the time during the week.
- 10:37Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know. You're tired, but, man, I'm
- 10:42Speaker 5: worn out. By Friday.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm lucky to see the week. I come home
- 10:46Speaker 2: and I'm falling asleep by the time I get home.
- 10:49Speaker 2: It's just exhausting doing anything. Work. Who came up with
- 10:54Speaker 2: this plan?
- 10:56Speaker 1: Not me. I don't like it.
- 11:00Speaker 2: But again, it's good to see that this is.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Still coming back. And it's still like all.
- 11:06Speaker 1: There's not like a drop in the amount of vendors.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 11:10Speaker 1: It's not like, oh, well... everybody's gone out of business,
- 11:13Speaker 1: there's nothing left anymore, empty tables. But no, it seems
- 11:17Speaker 1: like there's just as many, if not more, vendors.
- 11:20Speaker 5: Yeah, but I don't think these vendors are like brick-and-mortar stores.
- 11:24Speaker 5: And I think that's the thing that went out of business,
- 11:27Speaker 5: whereas I think more people are still doing online businesses,
- 11:30Speaker 5: and you're still seeing people on Instagram selling stuff, and
- 11:33Speaker 5: people on Etsy and stuff like that. I think that
- 11:37Speaker 5: kind of gave rise to that kind of business.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that didn't. fall off because people were just sitting
- 11:43Speaker 2: at home they had nothing else to do so they
- 11:44Speaker 2: probably have way more stock than before the pandemic because
- 11:46Speaker 2: they just sat at home drawing stuff or making things
- 11:49Speaker 2: and like now they've got a stockpile to come out
- 11:51Speaker 2: and be.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Like here buy all my stuff you know that's your
- 11:55Speaker 1: lesson on economics yeah post pandemic from movie meltdown geeks.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Are still out there they just you gotta go about
- 12:03Speaker 2: it a little differently to get your stuff than you
- 12:05Speaker 2: did back in the day a.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Lot of stuff a lot of people Which is good
- 12:09Speaker 1: for the convention. They tried to do things differently this
- 12:12Speaker 1: year by cutting off online sales. No, they only had
- 12:16Speaker 1: online sales in that if you didn't buy your ticket online,
- 12:19Speaker 1: you could not buy them at the door, which I
- 12:21Speaker 1: think made things run a lot smoother. In fact, we
- 12:25Speaker 1: got here like three hours after the door.
- 12:27Speaker 2: We planned ahead to avoid the line, but it made
- 12:31Speaker 2: it a little easier on our end anyway.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Yeah, that, and I think a lot of times it
- 12:35Speaker 5: cuts out a lot of the people that are just like,
- 12:38Speaker 5: what are we going to do today? Hey, there's this
- 12:40Speaker 5: weird comic convention going on down in Lexington. Let's go
- 12:43Speaker 5: down there and see what's going on. It cuts a
- 12:46Speaker 5: lot of that out. The people that are just like,
- 12:49Speaker 5: I don't know, that aren't really, I guess, invested in it.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Just random people.
- 12:53Speaker 5: Yeah, just randos that show up, you know, and in
- 12:57Speaker 5: the way.
- 12:58Speaker 1: I don't know. There was a lot of things going
- 13:00Speaker 1: on this weekend, too. I mean, you had this convention,
- 13:02Speaker 1: you had, like, Another convention in Cincinnati. There was one
- 13:06Speaker 1: in Cleveland. So it's like.
- 13:08Speaker 5: We're far from Cleveland now.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Well, I know, but there's some people who might have
- 13:10Speaker 1: come to this one.
- 13:11Speaker 2: As far as guests, yeah, it kind of cuts into
- 13:13Speaker 2: each other. I mean, you're going to.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Have Sam Raimi here, but then Bruce Campbell's in another one.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, it has to be hard running these things.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Or even the fans in general, because then the fan
- 13:25Speaker 1: has to choose, do I go to this one? Do
- 13:26Speaker 1: I go to this one? Do I go to this one?
- 13:28Speaker 1: Where do I go?
- 13:29Speaker 2: It's like if you're driving already, you just got to
- 13:31Speaker 2: pick which direction. Like, which way am I going?
- 13:33Speaker 1: So.
- 13:34Speaker 2: It has become such a different market now that there
- 13:36Speaker 2: are different shows and so many geek things kind of
- 13:39Speaker 2: going on at any given time.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Because before they used to be like, oh, we have
- 13:43Speaker 1: like one or two shows to pick a year. And
- 13:45Speaker 1: now it's like, oh, well, shit, there's like two or
- 13:47Speaker 1: three conventions this weekend. Yeah. You know?
- 13:49Speaker 2: I think it's like that everywhere now. I think every,
- 13:52Speaker 2: because each market has so many different cities that they
- 13:55Speaker 2: can like, let's book one here, let's book one here,
- 13:57Speaker 2: and like. I don't know. It just seems like a
- 13:59Speaker 2: logistical nightmare for everybody that has to run the shows
- 14:03Speaker 2: and then people trying to make it their business to
- 14:05Speaker 2: end up at each one. It's overwhelming.
- 14:09Speaker 1: It is. I feel bad for the celebrities. Their appearance
- 14:16Speaker 1: kind of leaned on somebody else being here and then
- 14:19Speaker 1: they didn't show up. Yeah. Yeah. Because I wonder if
- 14:23Speaker 1: poor Crabman was in there. But Jason Lee's plane got canceled,
- 14:25Speaker 1: so he'll probably be here tomorrow.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Yeah, he's still scheduled to be here. But again, this
- 14:29Speaker 2: is the logistical nightmare. It's like two guests get their
- 14:33Speaker 2: flights canceled, and then it like domino effect of everything.
- 14:37Speaker 2: It's like you've got photo ops that have to be rescheduled.
- 14:40Speaker 2: You've got people that were coming here just for a
- 14:42Speaker 2: day to get them done. And now it's like, well,
- 14:44Speaker 2: you got to reschedule for tomorrow if you want to
- 14:45Speaker 2: do it. So it just changes everything with one minor
- 14:49Speaker 2: adjustment like that.
- 14:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Poor Crabman.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Poor Crabman. I mean, Jason Lee was one of the
- 14:55Speaker 1: main ones that I thought about getting.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I definitely was considering it for quite a while there.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I'm sure his line would have been ridiculous.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Probably.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I would have got something from Mallrats. Mallrats is awesome.
- 15:07Speaker 2: He's awesome in Mallrats. I'm hitting. Even at the time,
- 15:11Speaker 2: I didn't think it was great. I was so into
- 15:16Speaker 2: Kevin Smith at that point. And the other two were
- 15:18Speaker 2: such like peaks for me of like, this was, you know,
- 15:21Speaker 2: when he was really doing something great. But Mallrats is
- 15:23Speaker 2: kind of like.
- 15:24Speaker 5: See, we watched Mallrats all the time.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I still did.
- 15:27Speaker 2: But I was like, I see the weaknesses now.
- 15:30Speaker 5: Yeah. Well, I mean, it's because I knew Jason Lee
- 15:32Speaker 5: from skateboarding.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Yeah. You were saying that earlier.
- 15:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:36Speaker 2: He came out.
- 15:36Speaker 5: He came out and skated at our local skate park
- 15:40Speaker 5: with Blind. He had skated for, I think, World Industries
- 15:43Speaker 5: before that and then Blind. And I don't know who
- 15:45Speaker 5: else he skated for after that because... Yeah, I can't remember.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Then they were just like, oh, hell, he's in a movie,
- 15:52Speaker 5: you know? Oh, shit. And he was good. And that
- 15:55Speaker 5: was the crazy thing was he was fucking good.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I thought he was. I was going to say at which.
- 16:00Speaker 2: It was like skateboarding.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I've seen, I just went back and saw the videos
- 16:04Speaker 2: and I'm like, Oh yeah, he could legitimately skate. Oh yeah.
- 16:06Speaker 5: He could legitimately skate.
- 16:08Speaker 2: But that's what I think is so amazing about him
- 16:09Speaker 2: and in Mallrats and then also Jason Amy.
- 16:11Speaker 1: It's like, he's so, he's got a charm to him.
- 16:14Speaker 2: He's so natural about it too. It's like you're watching
- 16:16Speaker 2: and no offense to London, but like London's like trying
- 16:19Speaker 2: to get these crazy Kevin Smith, you know, lines out.
- 16:22Speaker 2: And like, Jason Lee just sort of rolls with it.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Like he's just so smooth with the way he brings
- 16:28Speaker 2: that attitude and just like everything falls into place for him.
- 16:31Speaker 2: So again, I like the movie, but I love him
- 16:35Speaker 2: in the movie. Like he in both of those movies
- 16:37Speaker 2: is just like amazing.
- 16:39Speaker 1: And London was another one who was sitting in there
- 16:41Speaker 1: with no line and I felt bad for him too.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Again, he's got a crazy beard now. Nobody recognizes him.
- 16:46Speaker 1: It's like, again, would he have more of a line
- 16:47Speaker 1: of people who were actually getting Jason Lee?
- 16:49Speaker 2: Possibly.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Would they get any kind of bank on the, you know,
- 16:53Speaker 1: dual autograph, the dual photo op?
- 16:55Speaker 5: You'd always forget he was in Final Sky.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Jason Lee?
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 5: But he was in another movie.
- 17:01Speaker 2: He's the friend there, too.
- 17:02Speaker 5: Yeah, he was in another movie that I really liked.
- 17:04Speaker 5: And I'm trying to find it real quick.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Alvin and the Chipmunks? Yeah.
- 17:11Speaker 5: It's a romantic comedy. Dude, I'm a sucker for romantic comedies.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I am.
- 17:16Speaker 5: I'm more of a chick than I am. Kissing a Fool.
- 17:20Speaker 5: It's such a great movie.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I remember that one at the time. I remember it
- 17:23Speaker 2: seemed weird when they slapped him on the cover of
- 17:25Speaker 2: that tape, but I do not think I've gotten around
- 17:27Speaker 2: to it. Who's the other?
- 17:28Speaker 5: David Schwimmer, I think.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I'm sure I offended somebody by saying that's a chick flick.
- 17:33Speaker 1: You're more of.
- 17:34Speaker 2: A chick than me. It's definitely rom-com.
- 17:37Speaker 5: Who fucking cares? David Schwimmer.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Am I going to get canceled?
- 17:43Speaker 2: You're not anti-chick.
- 17:45Speaker 6: No.
- 17:46Speaker 5: But yeah, him and David Schwimmer are friends and he
- 17:50Speaker 5: tries to.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I'm anti-David Schwimmer.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Well, I'm not thrilled with David Schwimmer.
- 17:53Speaker 5: It's a good movie.
- 17:54Speaker 3: It is.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Who's the female lead?
- 17:56Speaker 1: Is it the Nev one?
- 17:58Speaker 5: Let's see. I'm trying to remember what it's called.
- 18:01Speaker 1: IMDb?
- 18:02Speaker 2: Again, I just remember the video cover.
- 18:04Speaker 5: Oh, don't do that. Okay.
- 18:07Speaker 1: No, I have no idea who's in it. Never seen this.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, okay, so his name's Jay. That's, uh, the.
- 18:12Speaker 2: That one you owe right there.
- 18:14Speaker 5: Yeah. Uh, and his womanizing sports center, Max, which is
- 18:19Speaker 5: David Swimmer, have been friends since birth. Jay introduces his editor, Samantha,
- 18:23Speaker 5: to Max, and they hit it off. Max wants Jay
- 18:25Speaker 5: to try to seduce Sam to test her before the wedding.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Which is.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Who's the chick in it, though? Who plays the chick?
- 18:32Speaker 5: Uh, let's see. Are you gonna tell me?
- 18:36Speaker 1: Mm-mm. Okay.
- 18:38Speaker 5: Just going to... It's going to show me everything.
- 18:40Speaker 1: You have to go back to the page.
- 18:41Speaker 2: It's going to show me everything else. Yeah, they've laid
- 18:42Speaker 2: it out weird. Again, I hate everything on the phone.
- 18:44Speaker 5: Okay.
- 18:45Speaker 2: On my computer, I can find it just like that.
- 18:46Speaker 5: Okay. Millie Avital?
- 18:52Speaker 1: You have no idea who that is. I don't know.
- 18:53Speaker 5: I thought she was cute in the movie.
- 18:56Speaker 2: That's a key thing with your rom-com. You got to
- 18:58Speaker 2: be cute.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Yeah. But they put David Schwimmer in it.
- 19:01Speaker 5: Yeah, you know.
- 19:03Speaker 2: I never quite got that one. I know people... It's
- 19:06Speaker 2: weird to me, the amount of love heaped upon Friends
- 19:09Speaker 2: at this point.
- 19:09Speaker 1: It is atrocious. It's been on in the break room
- 19:11Speaker 1: at work, and I cringe the entire time.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I mean, I don't hate it.
- 19:14Speaker 5: See, I'd never seen Friends.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Well, I watched it at the time, but I just
- 19:17Speaker 2: don't remember totally getting into it. I watched it because
- 19:21Speaker 2: it was a sitcom, and it was on, and I
- 19:23Speaker 2: watched all kinds of crap. But it's funny. As time
- 19:26Speaker 2: went on, I watched more and more people just line
- 19:28Speaker 2: up and be super dedicated to it. Yeah. Younger people
- 19:32Speaker 2: that weren't alive when it was on are.
- 19:34Speaker 1: So into it now. It's awful. It's crazy to me.
- 19:37Speaker 1: It's just abominable.
- 19:38Speaker 2: I mean, Lisa Kudrow is awesome. I can't argue with that.
- 19:41Speaker 1: She is the only highlight of it. Yeah.
- 19:43Speaker 5: Because she was in Romeo and Michelle's High School Reunion,
- 19:46Speaker 5: which is another one of my favorite movies.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Do you want me to post it? Huh?
- 19:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:53Speaker 2: We learned about it in business class, huh?
- 19:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's funny because I forgot who it was.
- 19:58Speaker 5: We had a discussion with movies and I said that
- 20:00Speaker 5: that was one of my favorite movies. And they were
- 20:01Speaker 5: just like, what?
- 20:04Speaker 1: What?
- 20:04Speaker 5: That doesn't make any sense.
- 20:06Speaker 2: It is one of those that didn't work even at
- 20:08Speaker 2: the time. Like, I think nobody knew what to do
- 20:10Speaker 2: with it because I thought it was hilarious. But I
- 20:12Speaker 2: think it's great. It's so weird that like it didn't
- 20:15Speaker 2: hit with normal comedy market. You know, it's like people
- 20:17Speaker 2: watching it were just like, what is this?
- 20:19Speaker 5: And like.
- 20:20Speaker 2: So then it had a weird reputation moving forward. So
- 20:23Speaker 2: even now when you mention it to people, if they're
- 20:25Speaker 2: not the right kind of people, they're just like, what?
- 20:27Speaker 5: You like that movie? The funny thing is the only
- 20:33Speaker 5: way I knew about that movie, it's not like a
- 20:35Speaker 5: movie that I was like, oh, this looks like an
- 20:37Speaker 5: interesting movie. One of the guys that I trained with,
- 20:42Speaker 5: he is friends with the owner of the gym that
- 20:47Speaker 5: was used in that movie. And that's why I just
- 20:51Speaker 5: was like... He was like, oh, yeah, my buddy's Jim's
- 20:53Speaker 5: in a movie. And I was like, oh, what movie?
- 20:56Speaker 5: And he told me. I was like, oh, I have
- 20:57Speaker 5: to check that out. And then watched it and was like, dude,
- 21:00Speaker 5: this movie's hilarious.
- 21:01Speaker 1: You actually did. Because most people who say, hey, I'll
- 21:03Speaker 1: check that out, never do.
- 21:04Speaker 5: Never do that.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Yeah. But it was one of those things probably.
- 21:08Speaker 5: Where I didn't have anything to do and went to
- 21:12Speaker 5: the video store. Video store?
- 21:14Speaker 1: Which one?
- 21:15Speaker 5: Let's see. That would have been... Maybe Red Giraffe.
- 21:22Speaker 2: It's going back a ways.
- 21:23Speaker 5: On Mid-City Mall, actually. And my friend Garrett used to
- 21:28Speaker 5: work at Red Giraffe. And he was the one that
- 21:32Speaker 5: probably found the movie for me. I probably asked him
- 21:36Speaker 5: where it was at and he found it.
- 21:38Speaker 2: What was that before? What was it called before it
- 21:41Speaker 2: got taken over?
- 21:42Speaker 5: Oh, let's see.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Because they were a good video.
- 21:44Speaker 5: It wasn't Hollywood Video.
- 21:46Speaker 2: It was like a mom and pop kind of deal. Yeah,
- 21:48Speaker 2: it was. At least one of our previous co-hosts worked there.
- 21:53Speaker 5: Yeah, because I think Garrett worked there when it was
- 21:56Speaker 5: whatever it was before it became Rachel Ray.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a great video store because they had a.
- 22:00Speaker 5: Ton of weird horror.
- 22:01Speaker 2: And cult stuff. Just the people that worked there just
- 22:04Speaker 2: ordered stuff because they.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Thought it was cool. I rented Flash Gordon from there,
- 22:12Speaker 5: I think. Or maybe it was Flesh Gordon.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Those are slightly different.
- 22:16Speaker 5: I'm just kidding. But they were, I remember, they were
- 22:20Speaker 5: probably one of the first video stores, and I remember
- 22:22Speaker 5: it was a big deal. They were one of the
- 22:25Speaker 5: first video stores that had like a gay section.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Again, they were kind of pushing the envelope. They
- 22:34Speaker 2: had a lot of different weird stuff that people weren't
- 22:37Speaker 2: ready for back then.
- 22:38Speaker 5: It was Barstown Road, though. Yeah. But that was a
- 22:41Speaker 5: big deal because I remember one of my friends, Siobhan,
- 22:43Speaker 5: was like, holy shit, they actually have a gay section.
- 22:46Speaker 5: This is awesome. So, you know, that was good for her.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Again, trying to find your, your niche back in the day.
- 22:55Speaker 5: And this was pretty wild and wooly.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Before all of this, before all of this became super mainstream,
- 23:00Speaker 2: it's like the geeks had to like seek out everything.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Like even just watching movies was kind of hard to do,
- 23:07Speaker 2: especially if you were into less popular stuff. It's like it,
- 23:10Speaker 2: It was its own little world, just trying to figure
- 23:14Speaker 2: out where you could go and find this.
- 23:15Speaker 5: And figure out where you could go to get that movie.
- 23:17Speaker 2: It was just a challenge for every step of the way.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Speaking of which, I just saw a story yesterday that
- 23:26Speaker 2: they are bringing back five blockbuster videos in LA.
- 23:33Speaker 5: Because people want the experience?
- 23:35Speaker 1: Because, yeah. Are they going to be open-open or pop-up stores?
- 23:38Speaker 2: No, I think they're legit brick and mortar stores again
- 23:41Speaker 2: and like i guess they i mean there was still
- 23:42Speaker 2: the one left last i heard so i guess the
- 23:44Speaker 2: name maybe you can still license it and franchise it
- 23:47Speaker 2: or something but supposedly yeah they're like people they're just
- 23:50Speaker 2: really into it and like they're like we think our
- 23:53Speaker 2: friends you know want to come back out and want
- 23:55Speaker 2: to stand there and like physically look at movies and
- 23:57Speaker 2: pick out something and so supposedly yeah they've got like
- 24:01Speaker 2: a couple i think a couple are going in la
- 24:03Speaker 2: and then a couple maybe in san diego or it's
- 24:05Speaker 2: gonna be.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Like the same where you just rent stuff are they
- 24:07Speaker 1: gonna have more options to buy stuff? Is it just
- 24:13Speaker 1: going to stay there rental? Or is it going to
- 24:14Speaker 1: be like, oh, and here's the stuff you can buy.
- 24:16Speaker 2: It sounds a bit like it was more rental, but
- 24:18Speaker 2: I mean.
- 24:19Speaker 1: And here's some Pop Funkos, because those are every fucking way.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Yeah, again, at this point, it's become more of a
- 24:23Speaker 2: hardcore fandom thing. So people are probably way more interested
- 24:26Speaker 2: in buying a collector's Blu-ray than they are in renting
- 24:29Speaker 2: it for a night.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Well, you can't have the experience without going there.
- 24:36Speaker 1: And it not being in stock.
- 24:37Speaker 5: And it not being in stock. And then having to
- 24:39Speaker 5: pick something else.
- 24:41Speaker 2: It does lead to, again, as we all learned back
- 24:44Speaker 2: in the day, you'd get something else random because you
- 24:47Speaker 2: didn't get to get what you thought you were going
- 24:49Speaker 2: to get.
- 24:50Speaker 5: And it actually turned out to be good.
- 24:51Speaker 2: And you were like, oh my god, I would have
- 24:52Speaker 2: never known this existed.
- 24:53Speaker 5: Or it turned out really bad.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Or you end up with Suck and Blow is Jesus.
- 24:58Speaker 2: And that's how we didn't officially get kicked out of
- 25:00Speaker 2: that video store.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I did yell that really loud.
- 25:02Speaker 2: You did yell, yeah, well. I think we've explained it
- 25:06Speaker 2: a long time ago on the show, but yeah, at
- 25:08Speaker 2: some point we were in, was it Blockbuster?
- 25:10Speaker 1: I think it was Blockbuster on Bardstown Road. Was it
- 25:12Speaker 1: on Bardstown Road?
- 25:13Speaker 2: There was one, yeah. We were there for years.
- 25:15Speaker 5: Down there where the old Highland Coffee used to be.
- 25:17Speaker 2: And we've always called him Suck and Blow. He has
- 25:20Speaker 2: a real name.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Jeremy Sisto.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Jeremy Sisto, as far as we're concerned, is Suck and Blow.
- 25:26Speaker 2: And there is a weird, I don't know if it
- 25:27Speaker 2: was made for TV or made for TNT or something,
- 25:30Speaker 2: but some sort of weird religious-y movie, and you suck
- 25:33Speaker 2: and blow as Jesus, which is what immediately came out
- 25:36Speaker 2: of your mouth at a very large volume.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I did, yes.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm sure there were random people that were
- 25:42Speaker 2: clutching their pearls.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 25:43Speaker 2: How dare you? My Jesus would never suck and blow.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Sacrilegious.
- 25:48Speaker 5: I didn't even realize that was him in, uh, what
- 25:51Speaker 5: was it, FBI?
- 25:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:53Speaker 5: TV show.
- 25:54Speaker 2: He's got a solid gig, man.
- 25:55Speaker 5: I'm watching it all the time. Yeah, because I think, uh,
- 25:58Speaker 5: clueless was on and so we just watched that because.
- 26:01Speaker 1: It's my that's the only option for me if you're
- 26:03Speaker 1: flipping through channels and clueless is on we stop we
- 26:06Speaker 1: watch clueless no matter where you are in the movie
- 26:09Speaker 1: it's a classic boyfriend's probably getting aggravated because like every
- 26:12Speaker 1: no it's.
- 26:13Speaker 5: Not it's i'm the same way with like hackers.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Something she knows clueless is that totally paused it's ridiculous.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Because your social life Because, yeah, I don't think you've
- 26:28Speaker 1: watched it in its entirety.
- 26:30Speaker 3: No.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Aside from any time that I've watched it. So I think,
- 26:32Speaker 1: I think today, I think, well, not today. I think
- 26:34Speaker 1: the last viewing was the most entire that you've.
- 26:37Speaker 5: The most entirety that I've seen it.
- 26:39Speaker 1: And it was pretty much where they bring in Brittany
- 26:41Speaker 1: Murphy's character.
- 26:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 26:43Speaker 1: At the tennis court.
- 26:44Speaker 2: I miss Brittany Murphy.
- 26:46Speaker 1: She was so damn cute in that movie. She was adorable.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And Alicia Silverstone was so hot. No joke, man. I'm serious, dude.
- 26:52Speaker 1: She was. And Paul Rudd has not aged.
- 26:55Speaker 2: What's up with that?
- 26:56Speaker 1: He's a. fucking Dracula.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. Ant-Man is a Dracula. Yell that
- 27:01Speaker 2: now in a video store. Go find yourself a video
- 27:03Speaker 2: store and then yell out Ant-Man is a Dracula.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Because I was watching it with boyfriend and I'm like,
- 27:07Speaker 1: it was the scene where they're all like, right before
- 27:09Speaker 1: she takes a picture of Ty and they're all sitting
- 27:13Speaker 1: around the fountain and I'm like, who would have thought
- 27:14Speaker 1: out of most of this cast that fucking Suck and
- 27:16Speaker 1: Blow is the one with the most recurring on TV,
- 27:20Speaker 1: the most known. And then I forgot that Paul.
- 27:21Speaker 2: I was going to say, yeah, Ant-Man's probably the biggest
- 27:24Speaker 2: money maker of the bunch. But yeah, Suck and Blow
- 27:26Speaker 2: is not had a dip really he's he's never had
- 27:30Speaker 2: a huge hit but he's been solidly working ever.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Since then he was jesus but yeah because every once
- 27:35Speaker 1: in a while because after jeopardy fbi comes on and
- 27:38Speaker 1: so sometimes i just don't change it because it's not
- 27:40Speaker 1: that bad yeah and it's got that one chick who
- 27:42Speaker 1: i adore she was andy is it andy andy from
- 27:46Speaker 1: reaper which was one of my favorite fucking shows ever.
- 27:49Speaker 5: Although we always laugh about them always having a run
- 27:51Speaker 5: in every episode it must be in all their contracts
- 27:54Speaker 5: where they have to run The bad guy always runs,
- 27:57Speaker 5: and then they always have to run after him.
- 27:58Speaker 1: And they always catch him unless somebody pulls out and
- 28:01Speaker 1: blocks their way.
- 28:02Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the thing.
- 28:03Speaker 1: The big trucks always got to be backing up somewhere.
- 28:05Speaker 2: It's New York.
- 28:06Speaker 5: There's garbage trucks all over the place. Or glass trucks.
- 28:09Speaker 1: It's always something. But anyways, because you're like, who is that?
- 28:13Speaker 1: What are you talking about? Who is this that we
- 28:16Speaker 1: watch on TV? I'm like, that's fucking Jubal from FBI.
- 28:19Speaker 1: And you're like, what? and then he started talking and
- 28:21Speaker 1: you're like oh yeah i can kind of yeah because
- 28:24Speaker 1: you can kind of still hear it in the voice
- 28:26Speaker 1: because he has a very distinct voice you know yeah
- 28:30Speaker 1: he definitely does he's such a dick in that movie
- 28:34Speaker 1: and then you were like well because that you saw
- 28:35Speaker 1: turk and you're like he's a baby in this movie
- 28:37Speaker 1: yeah just even everybody's so young in that movie except
- 28:40Speaker 1: stacy dash because she's damn near 30 in that movie
- 28:44Speaker 1: but you can't tell because she's still hot.
- 28:45Speaker 2: She hit it pretty well she looks She looks grown,
- 28:48Speaker 2: but she can still almost skate by in high school.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Because she was, what, 27, I think, when she made Clueless?
- 28:55Speaker 1: She does not seem 27. That movie is... I don't
- 28:59Speaker 1: even care. Always. If it's on, we are stopping. And
- 29:03Speaker 1: I will watch it, and I will randomly yell quotes
- 29:06Speaker 1: all the time.
- 29:09Speaker 2: It is awesome.
- 29:10Speaker 5: I don't have a problem with 90s movies, so... Not
- 29:14Speaker 5: at all. Like, I went back and re-watched, uh.
- 29:19Speaker 5: Oh, is it Suburbia?
- 29:22Speaker 2: I liked that at the time.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Giovanni Rubini?
- 29:24Speaker 2: I have not seen it since then, yeah.
- 29:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:26Speaker 2: I want to.
- 29:27Speaker 1: There's a lot of.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Because I don't think it's even in print anymore.
- 29:29Speaker 5: No, I had to watch it off YouTube.
- 29:31Speaker 2: See, I thought it was on YouTube. I thought that
- 29:33Speaker 2: was the only place I'd found.
- 29:34Speaker 5: Yeah i went back and watched it and there's a
- 29:36Speaker 5: lot of a lot of my life that ties into
- 29:40Speaker 5: that movie and uh i was just like holy shit
- 29:43Speaker 5: it's like i identify with giovanni rubisi's character a lot
- 29:49Speaker 5: in some of that and in some aspects i don't
- 29:51Speaker 5: but in a lot of it i do i'm just
- 29:53Speaker 5: like what the hell But a lot of the characters
- 29:56Speaker 5: that are in that movie are a lot of the
- 29:58Speaker 5: people that I grew up with. I can almost name each, yeah,
- 30:03Speaker 5: that's this character, that's this character, my buddy so-and-so, that's
- 30:07Speaker 5: his character.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I love that they coordinated their outfits. We should do that.
- 30:13Speaker 5: We kind of are.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Oh. Well, it's cute when we do it.
- 30:20Speaker 5: It's because we're wearing jeans and black t-shirts.
- 30:23Speaker 2: That's unusual. You won't ever find that at a convention.
- 30:27Speaker 3: Nope.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Well, sort of, if we're hitting some of what we've
- 30:32Speaker 2: seen lately. I've got one. Now, I know what the
- 30:36Speaker 2: answer is going to be for Jay, because I've had
- 30:38Speaker 2: this conversation many a time.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 30:40Speaker 2: But I was revisiting. I don't even know why. I
- 30:44Speaker 2: think just because I saw a copy of it, and
- 30:46Speaker 2: I was like, man, I have not seen any of
- 30:47Speaker 2: those other sequels since then. I watched the third Crow movie.
- 30:53Speaker 5: Which one was that one?
- 30:55Speaker 1: Edward Furlong?
- 30:57Speaker 2: No, that is the fourth one. This one is Eric Mabas.
- 31:00Speaker 2: I only know him from... Ugly Betty? No, Welcome to
- 31:04Speaker 2: the Dollhouse.
- 31:05Speaker 1: He's in Ugly Betty, too. I don't know his name.
- 31:08Speaker 2: I think that was already rolling by the time I
- 31:10Speaker 2: heard about it, and then I never caught up on
- 31:12Speaker 2: Ugly Betty. I do like her, but I just never
- 31:14Speaker 2: went back.
- 31:15Speaker 5: No, I refuse to watch any Crow movies.
- 31:17Speaker 2: It's not the original. What about the TV show?
- 31:19Speaker 1: Uh.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I know you like it. It's got Mark Dacascos in it.
- 31:23Speaker 5: And I'm just kind of like, eh, you know. And
- 31:25Speaker 5: Mark Dacascos didn't say anything bad about Brandon Lee.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Did Eric Mobius?
- 31:31Speaker 5: The second guy from the second movie.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Vincent Perez. Yeah, I think he said something. I almost
- 31:37Speaker 2: caught him.
- 31:37Speaker 5: He kind of said some bullshit.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Well, I guess that's why I skipped right to the
- 31:43Speaker 2: third one. Because I have not seen the second one
- 31:45Speaker 2: since the theater afterwards. And it was an atrocity. And
- 31:48Speaker 2: I was just like, no, I can't. Well, it didn't
- 31:49Speaker 2: need to be remade.
- 31:50Speaker 5: And, you know, the other thing that, okay, you know,
- 31:53Speaker 5: this is one of the reasons why Misty and I
- 31:54Speaker 5: get along so well is spitefulness. My friend, like when
- 31:59Speaker 5: the second one came out, he goes, you're going to
- 32:00Speaker 5: see it. He said, you will one day. He said,
- 32:03Speaker 5: you'll see the sequels. And I said, no, I won't.
- 32:04Speaker 5: He goes, one of these days you will. You can't
- 32:06Speaker 5: avoid it. Guess what, motherfucker? How many fucking years has
- 32:10Speaker 5: it been since the original came out? I haven't seen
- 32:12Speaker 5: any of the other sequels ever. How many have there
- 32:15Speaker 5: been total?
- 32:16Speaker 2: I thought it was just those four. I mean, they're
- 32:18Speaker 2: doing the... That's kind of the other thing I was
- 32:20Speaker 2: bringing up, just because I'm like, they're still talking about
- 32:22Speaker 2: doing another one. Last I heard, and yesterday, saw photos
- 32:28Speaker 2: that I feel like people just made up. I think
- 32:30Speaker 2: they just like... Who are they saying is going to be...
- 32:33Speaker 2: It was freaking Aquaman. What's his face? Jason Momoa. Yeah.
- 32:38Speaker 5: He doesn't need to be in anything.
- 32:40Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 32:40Speaker 2: He just doesn't fit. Yeah. He's like a big giant dude.
- 32:43Speaker 2: So like that doesn't seem like Draven to me, but
- 32:45Speaker 2: maybe it's a different version.
- 32:46Speaker 5: See, now I had heard that.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Alexander or not.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:50Speaker 5: No, I heard Bill Skarsgård.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:51Speaker 2: At one point, that's what I heard. And then I heard,
- 32:53Speaker 2: so it's gone back and forth. I don't know. I
- 32:55Speaker 2: don't know. But, and people were so bent out of
- 32:58Speaker 2: shape about that. Like, They got so upset when they
- 33:01Speaker 2: were talking about making the fifth, or making the remake,
- 33:03Speaker 2: and I was like, they're like, oh, that's terrible. They
- 33:05Speaker 2: should never make another one. I was like, did you
- 33:07Speaker 2: miss the other four? Like, what? There's three other sequels
- 33:11Speaker 2: to it, and they're all terrible.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Edward Furlong was awful.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Oh, it's a mess.
- 33:16Speaker 5: It's like, just leave it alone. It doesn't need to
- 33:18Speaker 5: be remade. That's like people talking about remaking Big Trouble
- 33:22Speaker 5: in Little China. You know?
- 33:24Speaker 2: What could you do? Like, how could you improve upon that?
- 33:27Speaker 1: Which reminds me, they're remaking Vertigo.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, they've tried that stuff before. It just.
- 33:34Speaker 1: With Robert Downey Jr. Yeah.
- 33:38Speaker 2: I mean, he is a weirdo. I mean, that is
- 33:41Speaker 2: a weird movie. Like, it's odd that they cast Jimmy Stewart.
- 33:45Speaker 2: I mean, he's, like, so... And definitely at that point
- 33:48Speaker 2: had that, like, clean-cut, all-American, good guy kind of thing.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Because once you get into Vertigo, like, that character is
- 33:55Speaker 2: messed up.
- 33:56Speaker 1: And, like... I don't know.
- 33:58Speaker 2: It's, like, mentally a weird spot to throw Jimmy Stewart. So,
- 34:02Speaker 2: that was odd casting at the time. So, I mean,
- 34:04Speaker 2: I can actually see more of a Robert Downey Jr.
- 34:06Speaker 2: being a creepy stalker dude. Like, wants to turn women
- 34:10Speaker 2: into other women because he's obsessed with her. So, I
- 34:14Speaker 2: don't know.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Maybe... Eric Mabeus? Maybe I've always just said his name
- 34:18Speaker 1: wrong all these years. Or maybe I was thinking about Morbius. Like,
- 34:22Speaker 1: it's a really bad movie.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Or the artist.
- 34:25Speaker 1: So... Going back and re-watching The Crow of Salvation. What
- 34:28Speaker 1: was your opinion of it?
- 34:29Speaker 2: See, that's the thing. I hadn't seen it probably since,
- 34:32Speaker 2: I don't know. I can't remember if we watched it
- 34:33Speaker 2: a million years ago. I forgot Kirsten was in it. Yeah,
- 34:35Speaker 2: Kirsten's in it.
- 34:36Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 34:37Speaker 2: But it's like, that's the thing.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I'm watching it.
- 34:38Speaker 2: And Fred Ward! I know! I mean, I was surprised
- 34:41Speaker 2: the rest of the cast. I was like, Fred Ward's
- 34:43Speaker 2: awesome and everything.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Didn't he die?
- 34:45Speaker 5: Except Burt Ward's dad.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Fred Ward did, yeah, just recently.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Fred Ward died.
- 34:50Speaker 2: And then William Atherton.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Who's Burt Ward? Robin. Oh, I don't know. I don't
- 34:57Speaker 1: know the familiar connections.
- 34:59Speaker 5: I don't know either. I'm just being stupid.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Also, going back, again, it was so long ago, nobody
- 35:04Speaker 2: had a clue, but a very small role by Walton Goggins.
- 35:06Speaker 1: I like him because he's got weird teeth. That's not
- 35:10Speaker 1: why I like him, because he was in Justified at
- 35:12Speaker 1: Which Boyfriend Won't Watch With Me, but it's one of
- 35:14Speaker 1: my favorites. And that's got, what's his face that I love?
- 35:18Speaker 1: Timothy Ellison.
- 35:19Speaker 5: One of these days I might watch it.
- 35:20Speaker 1: No, you won't.
- 35:21Speaker 5: I'm going to be in the mood for it.
- 35:22Speaker 1: You're never going to be in the mood for that. Which,
- 35:25Speaker 1: you like Timothy Olyphant, though. I don't understand the problem.
- 35:29Speaker 1: You like Timothy Olyphant.
- 35:30Speaker 5: I think just because it's set in Kentucky.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Oh.
- 35:33Speaker 2: They didn't shoot it.
- 35:34Speaker 5: But my aunt likes it.
- 35:35Speaker 1: What?
- 35:35Speaker 2: They didn't shoot it here.
- 35:36Speaker 6: No.
- 35:37Speaker 2: So, you know, it makes it a little easier.
- 35:38Speaker 5: It's based in Kentucky. I'm just kind of like, why?
- 35:41Speaker 5: Why would I care?
- 35:42Speaker 1: Because Timothy Olyphant is amazing.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Yeah. But, yeah, as far as that one, as I
- 35:49Speaker 2: got into it, because I didn't really even remember the plot,
- 35:51Speaker 2: and I'm like, oh.
- 35:53Speaker 1: There was a plot?
- 35:53Speaker 2: It's the same thing. I'm just like, why would you...
- 35:56Speaker 2: If you're going to take that concept and just do
- 35:59Speaker 2: something else with it, that's cool and all. But as
- 36:02Speaker 2: we get into it, I'm like, oh, so it's a
- 36:04Speaker 2: guy and his girlfriend gets killed and then he wants
- 36:08Speaker 2: to be with her. So he comes back and he
- 36:11Speaker 2: has to kill the guys that killed her. Wait, this
- 36:14Speaker 2: is exactly the same damn movie. So... And then I
- 36:17Speaker 2: was like, okay, well, the Kirsten Dunst is her younger sister.
- 36:20Speaker 2: And she was, like, that was right at that point.
- 36:22Speaker 2: It was just before the Spider-Man, and she sort of
- 36:24Speaker 2: became the huge thing that she was. So she was
- 36:26Speaker 2: still kind of, she reads a little younger. I also
- 36:29Speaker 2: wonder if it sat on the shelf for a little while,
- 36:31Speaker 2: because she seems a little younger than it, like a
- 36:33Speaker 2: year later, she's in the Spider-Man. But, yeah, I was like, oh, well,
- 36:38Speaker 2: she's kind of the difference, because she's in there, and she's, like,
- 36:41Speaker 2: the one that remembers her sister. And I was like, wait, no,
- 36:44Speaker 2: that's the little girl in the first croak. Like, this
- 36:46Speaker 2: is exactly the same shit.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Sarah? Yeah, I was like, it's the same stuff.
- 36:50Speaker 2: So, yeah, I mean, but it looks interesting. Like, they
- 36:55Speaker 2: did bring in some, I don't even know this director.
- 36:57Speaker 2: I looked at it, and I was like, oh, well,
- 36:59Speaker 2: visual style's pretty cool. Like, they really did go for
- 37:01Speaker 2: a nice gothy look, and like, it's got some interesting shots,
- 37:04Speaker 2: but like, it just doesn't really do anything different, and
- 37:09Speaker 2: certainly not better than the first time around, and no
- 37:13Speaker 2: offense to eric but he is certainly no brandon so
- 37:15Speaker 2: it's like what are we doing here because his makeup's
- 37:18Speaker 2: weird anyway i never quite i'm like why is there
- 37:20Speaker 2: an extra little line over here i'm just critiquing his
- 37:22Speaker 2: makeup the whole time and then yeah there's just so
- 37:26Speaker 2: many times where i'm like it even goes through the
- 37:28Speaker 2: same little motions of like you're murdering the people and
- 37:31Speaker 2: leaving some sort of like fiery crow something or other
- 37:34Speaker 2: i don't know he leaves some sort of crow calling
- 37:36Speaker 2: guard and i was just like yeah what we've seen
- 37:39Speaker 2: this like why don't you do something different with this
- 37:41Speaker 2: idea and And we still never quite pin down the
- 37:44Speaker 2: mythology of what happens with the crow and when do
- 37:48Speaker 2: you get injured and when do you not, which got
- 37:51Speaker 2: jacked up in the first one anyway. So it's like
- 37:53Speaker 2: they don't ever really pin down a lot of that stuff.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Once again, it's still just sort of left to be like, oh, well,
- 37:58Speaker 2: when we need to make use of this, we'll work
- 38:01Speaker 2: in that if they hurt the crow, then he can
- 38:03Speaker 2: be hurt. It just seems so convenient.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I don't know. Do you know any of the Crow mythology? Oh,
- 38:08Speaker 1: you're busy watching baby skunks. So you not only will
- 38:12Speaker 1: not watch the movie, you will not listen to stories.
- 38:15Speaker 2: It's probably more. Oh, I know it's more watchable than
- 38:17Speaker 2: that second one, but again, it just doesn't do anything different.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Like it's the same beats just done. Not as good.
- 38:24Speaker 2: So yeah, I just, that was my dad. And by
- 38:26Speaker 2: the end I went, wait, why did I watch this?
- 38:28Speaker 2: I just wasn't, I was not overwhelmed. It was totally watchable.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Can you imagine how it would have been if they'd
- 38:35Speaker 1: gone with their original director? Oh. Rob Zombie.
- 38:39Speaker 2: For the third one?
- 38:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:42Speaker 2: I'm sure I would have been just as annoyed.
- 38:44Speaker 1: That's what I'm reading for you.
- 38:45Speaker 2: But once again, visually it would have looked great, I'm sure.
- 38:49Speaker 2: He would have just set it in the trailer park.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Actually, he had been... I don't know. It's like there
- 38:56Speaker 1: was going to be one called The Crow 2037?
- 39:02Speaker 2: But that was at 2000 time range?
- 39:04Speaker 1: When it was announced, Rob Zombie... Let's see it. August 1997,
- 39:09Speaker 1: when it was announced that Rob Zombie would make his
- 39:11Speaker 1: directorial debut with The Crow 2037, covered Casey and the
- 39:16Speaker 1: Sunshine Band's I'm Your Boogeyman for the soundtrack for The
- 39:18Speaker 1: Crow City Evangelist. And after seeing Rob Zombie's work on
- 39:20Speaker 1: the video, he produced the song. Edward Pressman offered Zombie
- 39:24Speaker 1: the opportunity to helm the third chrome film had the
- 39:26Speaker 1: film been made so maybe it was a different a
- 39:29Speaker 1: scrapped version yeah yeah had the film been made zombie
- 39:33Speaker 1: plan to shift focus and tone from the revenge angle
- 39:36Speaker 1: of the previous two entries to a more horror-based approach
- 39:39Speaker 1: well it might have.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Been interesting yeah i mean it would have at least
- 39:42Speaker 2: potentially done something different yeah which the third one did.
- 39:45Speaker 5: Not Because it just seemed to me, and probably the
- 39:47Speaker 5: reason why I never wanted to watch any of the
- 39:49Speaker 5: other ones, is it just seemed like all they tried
- 39:51Speaker 5: to do was remake it.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Okay, here's what, here's what. The film would have began
- 39:56Speaker 1: in 2010 when a young boy and his mother are
- 39:58Speaker 1: murdered on Halloween night by a satanic priest. A year later,
- 40:01Speaker 1: the boy is resurrected as the crow. 27 years later,
- 40:05Speaker 1: and unaware of his past, he has become a bounty
- 40:07Speaker 1: hunter on a collision course with his now all-powerful killer.
- 40:11Speaker 6: What?
- 40:12Speaker 5: How would he grow old if he was resurrected? He
- 40:17Speaker 5: got older?
- 40:18Speaker 1: I don't know. No wonder it was scrapped. But at
- 40:22Speaker 1: least it's different.
- 40:23Speaker 2: At least the idea is something different that I would
- 40:26Speaker 2: probably watch. I don't know that I'd like, but I
- 40:28Speaker 2: would probably watch.
- 40:29Speaker 1: That's just what the Wikipedia says. It could be all bullshit.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Somebody could just be like, I'm going to put this
- 40:35Speaker 1: on the Wikipedia. And somebody's going to believe it. I
- 40:37Speaker 1: don't fucking know.
- 40:38Speaker 2: You can't trust the internet.
- 40:39Speaker 1: You can't. It lies.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Just trying to see what that director did. Downtime, Killing Time,
- 40:47Speaker 2: Crow Salvation, TV series, TV.
- 40:50Speaker 7: Series, TV series, TV series, TV series. Looks like he
- 40:55Speaker 7: graduated into being a couple of episodes here, a couple
- 40:58Speaker 7: of episodes there on a lot of different TV series.
- 41:01Speaker 2: He's done one episode of The 100.
- 41:03Speaker 5: Never watched it.
- 41:06Speaker 4: So, yeah.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Oh, wait. He directed The Man Who Invented Christmas. Well,
- 41:11Speaker 2: isn't that not at all like his other work?
- 41:14Speaker 1: He Bob Clarked that shit. So, yeah.
- 41:19Speaker 2: It looks fine and all, but yeah. Not at all original.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Kirsten does what she can. Sometimes that's not much. There's
- 41:29Speaker 2: just not a lot for her to do.
- 41:31Speaker 1: There's no salvation.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Not for us. Or any of the characters, really. No,
- 41:37Speaker 2: not to spoil anything, but it's pretty grim as it
- 41:40Speaker 2: goes on. I was like, is everybody in this movie
- 41:43Speaker 2: getting killed? Like, they just start off in people, more
- 41:45Speaker 2: or less. You assume all the bad guys are going
- 41:48Speaker 2: to die, but half of the other people that you
- 41:50Speaker 2: think might make it through, they just start off in people. So, yeah.
- 41:53Speaker 2: There's a lot of dead people in that movie, too. So,
- 41:56Speaker 2: not necessarily fun.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Did you watch anything else? Because I haven't watched anything else.
- 42:01Speaker 1: We tried to watch a movie. Does that count?
- 42:03Speaker 2: Alright, what did you attempt to watch?
- 42:05Speaker 1: Boyfriend.
- 42:07Speaker 5: What?
- 42:08Speaker 2: Cannibal something or other?
- 42:09Speaker 5: Apocalypse.
- 42:11Speaker 1: And why were you excited about watching this movie?
- 42:13Speaker 5: Because they had John Saxon.
- 42:14Speaker 2: John Saxon's awesome.
- 42:16Speaker 1: He had to have his shirt off at some point.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Well, who doesn't want that?
- 42:21Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I kind of remember that now. I kind
- 42:23Speaker 5: of remember the, yeah, that was kind of a weird scene.
- 42:28Speaker 5: I'd totally forgotten about that. Oh, I just quit watching.
- 42:30Speaker 5: Why did I quit watching?
- 42:32Speaker 1: Because you were like, oh, fuck this movie, and we
- 42:34Speaker 1: turned it off, and.
- 42:34Speaker 5: You found something else. It must be one of those
- 42:38Speaker 5: slow burn movies. Because it was. It was really slow.
- 42:43Speaker 5: And then I was just like, I need something with
- 42:45Speaker 5: more action in it. And then whatever else I picked,
- 42:48Speaker 5: I fell asleep. What did I pick?
- 42:50Speaker 1: I don't remember. Me neither.
- 42:52Speaker 5: I probably fell asleep.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Or did we just spend an hour looking for something,
- 42:56Speaker 1: and then it was bedtime?
- 42:57Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe. Maybe that's what it was. That happens a lot.
- 43:00Speaker 5: You know?
- 43:02Speaker 1: Because, yeah, we didn't really see any cannibals. And there
- 43:04Speaker 1: was definitely no apocalypse.
- 43:06Speaker 5: No, there wasn't any apocalypse. Maybe it happened later on
- 43:09Speaker 5: in the film. I don't know.
- 43:10Speaker 1: I don't even think it did. I don't know.
- 43:12Speaker 5: No, there was just some really weird scenes with the.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Underage neighbor girl?
- 43:18Speaker 5: Yeah, the underage neighborhood girl that was trying to seduce
- 43:21Speaker 5: John Saxon.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Which, I mean, do you blame her?
- 43:26Speaker 3: Oh.
- 43:28Speaker 5: But, yeah, I should say, what?
- 43:30Speaker 1: No.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Well, I did watch something and I specifically held onto
- 43:35Speaker 2: this until we can talk again because occasionally you'll mention
- 43:39Speaker 2: like a lot of times series and I don't always
- 43:41Speaker 2: get around to series cause they're like long and it
- 43:43Speaker 2: takes a long time. And so, um, I want, and
- 43:46Speaker 2: half the time I don't have whatever channel, every, everybody
- 43:49Speaker 2: that recommends stuff to me now, it's like, okay, what
- 43:51Speaker 2: channel is that on? Well, I can't get it. Like
- 43:53Speaker 2: I can't get every streaming service. I want to watch
- 43:56Speaker 2: yellow jackets. I don't have that.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Oh my God. I want to watch it too.
- 43:59Speaker 2: I don't have that channel. I want to see zombies
- 44:03Speaker 2: with the Mandalorian. I don't have that channel. Stop putting
- 44:06Speaker 2: it on channels I don't have. So, that aside, after
- 44:10Speaker 2: I signed up for, and this is the reason why,
- 44:12Speaker 2: the last season of Only Murders in the Building, I
- 44:14Speaker 2: had Hulu. And I was like, alright, I might hang
- 44:17Speaker 2: on to this for a little while. Let's see what
- 44:18Speaker 2: else is on here that I wanted to watch. And
- 44:21Speaker 2: then I came across Future Man.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Oh my God!
- 44:24Speaker 2: And I remember you telling me about Future Man.
- 44:27Speaker 5: Fucking awesome.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Did you watch all the series?
- 44:29Speaker 2: I have seen season one.
- 44:31Speaker 1: And it was epic.
- 44:32Speaker 2: And it was epic. And then I was like, cool,
- 44:35Speaker 2: let's roll into season two.
- 44:37Speaker 1: And it sucked.
- 44:38Speaker 2: What the hell is going on? Like, talk about a
- 44:42Speaker 2: hard left turn. And then I was like, well, okay,
- 44:44Speaker 2: they're just kind of getting their footing. They got to
- 44:46Speaker 2: figure out, you know, they're doing a very different thing
- 44:48Speaker 2: this season. Let's let them get it going. I'm about
- 44:51Speaker 2: four episodes in. I'm just like, They still haven't figured
- 44:53Speaker 2: out what the hell.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Is going on. They never do.
- 44:55Speaker 5: That was just, it became super depressing.
- 44:58Speaker 2: I was like, this future sucks.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Well, that when you have in a cast that works,
- 45:01Speaker 1: it works so well off each other and then you
- 45:02Speaker 1: just fucking separate. Yeah.
- 45:03Speaker 2: They're all separate almost the entire time. Like there's a
- 45:06Speaker 2: handful of times they cross over and then by the end,
- 45:09Speaker 2: the three of them are together. And that last like
- 45:11Speaker 2: two episodes were kind of fun because there was a
- 45:13Speaker 2: bigger plan and an adventure and it at least got
- 45:16Speaker 2: watchable those last couple of episodes. But everything up until then.
- 45:19Speaker 1: I like season two.
- 45:20Speaker 2: I needed a break after two. I was like, I'll
- 45:23Speaker 2: come back to it. But I'm like, I need to
- 45:24Speaker 2: watch something else now.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Season one was so... Season one was so much fun. Awesome.
- 45:30Speaker 1: So good. Like, so good. That guy who plays Wolf.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Derek Wilson.
- 45:34Speaker 3: Yes.
- 45:35Speaker 2: He is pretty epic. I was watching it going, how
- 45:37Speaker 2: do I not already know this guy?
- 45:39Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 45:40Speaker 2: He's pretty awesome. And I've seen the Eliza Coop. And like,
- 45:44Speaker 2: she's normally... Like, I remember... I think.
- 45:45Speaker 1: I don't know which season was the... Wolf... Corey Wolfhart.
- 45:50Speaker 2: That's still the first season. That's why it's awesome. Because
- 45:53Speaker 2: it's the first season. Every time I hear Corey Hart now,
- 45:56Speaker 2: I just laugh. I'm like, oh, well, you know good music.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Oh, my God. It's so good.
- 46:03Speaker 2: But yeah, the Eliza chick, I think I remember mostly
- 46:06Speaker 2: from Happy Endings. And she's like the super uptight chick.
- 46:09Speaker 2: She's the one with a job and the responsible one
- 46:12Speaker 2: of the bunch. And I was just like, what is this?
- 46:14Speaker 2: At first, I thought it was recasting. I was like,
- 46:16Speaker 2: this doesn't seem right. And then almost immediately, I was like,
- 46:19Speaker 2: oh no, she totally works in this role. She's a badass.
- 46:22Speaker 2: So yeah, she's super fun in that role. Not what
- 46:26Speaker 2: I expected from her.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Love, love, love. The first season.
- 46:29Speaker 2: That first season is epic.
- 46:31Speaker 1: I remember in the third season. I can't remember if
- 46:33Speaker 1: you liked it or not.
- 46:34Speaker 5: Which one was the third season?
- 46:35Speaker 1: I don't remember, but I remember.
- 46:36Speaker 2: I'll let you know as soon as I get to it.
- 46:39Speaker 5: Third season is not the one where they're... Is it.
- 46:42Speaker 2: The one.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I don't remember now. But I remember liking it. I
- 46:46Speaker 1: remember liking it better.
- 46:47Speaker 5: Is third season where they're on the game show kind
- 46:48Speaker 5: of thing?
- 46:49Speaker 2: Yeah, because I just, at the very end of the
- 46:51Speaker 2: last second season, they go into that. So I was like,
- 46:54Speaker 2: all right, I'll at least come back to it.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Is that the one that has Haley Jo Osmond in it?
- 46:58Speaker 2: He's in a lot of the second season.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Okay.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Because he's in the first season. And I remember thinking, like,
- 47:02Speaker 2: as it went on, I was like, oh, he kind
- 47:04Speaker 2: of disappeared. I was like, It's weird that they bothered
- 47:06Speaker 2: to get Haley Joel Osment, and then he's not, like,
- 47:08Speaker 2: they don't really make use of him. He's just, like,
- 47:10Speaker 2: in a couple of episodes at the beginning, and he's
- 47:12Speaker 2: kind of a dick, and you're like, oh, well, good
- 47:14Speaker 2: thing he's gone. But then he totally is a huge
- 47:16Speaker 2: part about the second season, but it's a shame it's
- 47:19Speaker 2: in the second season when I'm just like, oh, my God,
- 47:21Speaker 2: this whole thing has gone off the rails.
- 47:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 47:25Speaker 2: It's something. I don't know. I'm still, I guess, glad
- 47:28Speaker 2: I watched it. We'll see how I feel after the
- 47:31Speaker 2: third season. But, yeah, that first season. It's so much fun.
- 47:37Speaker 1: I don't remember Tiger. Who's Tiger? Is that the chick?
- 47:39Speaker 2: Yeah. I can't remember her name.
- 47:41Speaker 1: That's what it was.
- 47:41Speaker 2: She's Tiger.
- 47:43Speaker 1: I just remember Wolf because that was the main reason
- 47:45Speaker 1: I liked the show was Wolf.
- 47:47Speaker 5: Which is funny because he was in Preacher and in
- 47:52Speaker 5: Preacher you kind of don't like his character.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Yeah, because he's like a... I hate his character. Do
- 47:57Speaker 1: you ever watch Preacher?
- 47:58Speaker 5: No.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Again, it was one of those that people have told
- 48:00Speaker 2: me about and I'm just like.
- 48:01Speaker 1: I can't. He's kind of an abusive dick, isn't he?
- 48:03Speaker 5: Yeah, he's abusive to his wife.
- 48:05Speaker 1: But then doesn't she kind of like it?
- 48:07Speaker 5: Yeah, you find out that she's like into it and
- 48:09Speaker 5: you're just like, okay, wow.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Or am I making that part up?
- 48:11Speaker 5: No, I think you're right because then you're like, wow, okay.
- 48:14Speaker 4: Weird.
- 48:16Speaker 1: It's been a long time since I watched it so
- 48:17Speaker 1: maybe I made that part up. I don't know.
- 48:19Speaker 5: No, I think you're right.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Domestic abuse is never okay.
- 48:22Speaker 5: Because I think she tries to end up bringing the
- 48:24Speaker 5: preacher into it with all three, or with them and
- 48:29Speaker 5: it gets really weird. Oh, yeah.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Swinging preacher.
- 48:33Speaker 1: The preacher was pretty hot.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Well, It is perfect casting, though, because I thought the
- 48:37Speaker 2: Joss Hutcherson thing, I was just like, what a weird.
- 48:42Speaker 2: I thought it was weird because, again, knowing his previous
- 48:47Speaker 2: roles and what he's kind of known for, I was
- 48:48Speaker 2: just like, is he going to work in this action-adventure-sci-fi thing?
- 48:52Speaker 2: And then we get in and I'm like, he's the
- 48:54Speaker 2: biggest dork in the world. I was like, oh no,
- 48:56Speaker 2: that's perfect casting.
- 48:57Speaker 5: It's funny because we worked with this guy, I don't
- 48:59Speaker 5: remember what his name is, but we called him... One
- 49:02Speaker 5: other friend that I worked with saw future man but
- 49:06Speaker 5: we called him joosh and he didn't know why but
- 49:10Speaker 5: he was the joosh character he he was just a
- 49:15Speaker 5: failure at life and everything he did at work he
- 49:19Speaker 5: tried to do a good job, but man, he just... Failed.
- 49:23Speaker 5: He just failed so hard.
- 49:25Speaker 1: At everything.
- 49:27Speaker 5: Yeah, everything. It was just like, dude.
- 49:30Speaker 5: Oh, his name was Rocky. And we were just like, dude,
- 49:34Speaker 5: he is just all the time getting beaten down by life.
- 49:38Speaker 5: He was a nice guy, but it seemed like he
- 49:42Speaker 5: just got shit on by life all the fucking time.
- 49:45Speaker 5: And our boss hated him. Our boss just couldn't stand him,
- 49:49Speaker 5: which I never did really understand. And we were just
- 49:53Speaker 5: kind of like, I don't understand why he doesn't like him.
- 49:55Speaker 5: My boss is just like, I don't like him. He's
- 49:57Speaker 5: just a fucking loser. I was like, oh, okay. Well,
- 50:00Speaker 5: he could still be nice to people, but no.
- 50:03Speaker 2: I don't think that's how the world works.
- 50:04Speaker 5: No, that's not how my boss works.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Have you seen anything else?
- 50:10Speaker 3: No.
- 50:12Speaker 1: I've been doing cross-stitch, and that's been a lot of
- 50:15Speaker 1: not watching stuff. Books.
- 50:17Speaker 2: It's a whole new adventure.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I've stabbed myself so many fucking times.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Do you want to... I mean, we're not really sponsored
- 50:25Speaker 2: by them, but do you want to give a plug
- 50:26Speaker 2: to your road trip?
- 50:27Speaker 1: Oh my god, we went on vacation. And the highlight
- 50:30Speaker 1: of my vacation, we went to.
- 50:32Speaker 2: It says a lot about you.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Huh?
- 50:34Speaker 2: It says a lot about you. The highlight of my vacation.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Well, aside from going to bookstores, which is, honestly, it's
- 50:40Speaker 1: the main highlight. I have, like, three highlights. Obviously. Well, because,
- 50:43Speaker 1: I mean, it wasn't really a vacation. It's going on
- 50:44Speaker 1: to Florida to do boyfriend's mom's list of shit to do.
- 50:47Speaker 2: It's a working vacation.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Yeah. But anyways, we went to Bucky's three times. Three briskets.
- 50:53Speaker 1: It was amazing. If you have not had Buc-ee's briskets.
- 50:57Speaker 5: Three different Buc-ee's.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Three different Buc-ee's.
- 50:59Speaker 2: What region? Because I know we didn't have one here
- 51:01Speaker 2: until recently. Texas and mainly the South. Have they all
- 51:03Speaker 2: been creeping up from the South?
- 51:05Speaker 1: We went to Buc-ee's in three different states.
- 51:07Speaker 2: I believe it.
- 51:08Speaker 5: Two different states.
- 51:09Speaker 6: No.
- 51:10Speaker 5: Who was it three? Kentucky.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Alabama.
- 51:14Speaker 5: Alabama.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Alabama.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Oh, the other one was Alabama too?
- 51:16Speaker 5: Yeah, the other one's in Milwaukee.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Two states.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Alabama's a weird place. It's probably a subsection of Alabama.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Anyways i thought i was you forgot which state we
- 51:24Speaker 1: were in i was too delirious on bucky's state of
- 51:27Speaker 1: brisket dude shit if you have never had the bucky's
- 51:30Speaker 1: brisket you don't know what life is.
- 51:32Speaker 2: It's worth the investment i think so because we were
- 51:35Speaker 2: discussing earlier people said it's not cheap but it's worse.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Because even you were like that's pricey for a gas station.
- 51:42Speaker 2: Gas station sandwich it seemed a little pricey but i
- 51:44Speaker 2: was like i know it's it's a refined taste it's
- 51:48Speaker 2: it's only the cool people that know to go get
- 51:50Speaker 2: the brisket at the bucky's are gonna indulge in this
- 51:53Speaker 2: and like that's why you're willing to pay.
- 51:55Speaker 1: I mean bucky's in and of itself is an experience
- 51:58Speaker 1: i mean it is somebody might say it's just a
- 52:01Speaker 1: gas station it is not just a fucking gas station
- 52:03Speaker 1: they have like it's like it's rows and rows of
- 52:07Speaker 1: pumps over 100 gas pumps oh my god And they
- 52:10Speaker 1: have their own brisket. They have Bucky Nuggets. I can't
- 52:13Speaker 1: even say it.
- 52:14Speaker 5: Beaver Nuggets.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Beaver Nuggets. Beaver Nuggets. Beaver Chips.
- 52:18Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 52:18Speaker 1: But yeah, dude, brisket.
- 52:20Speaker 5: Jerky. They have all their own jerky.
- 52:22Speaker 1: They have a deli for snacks, like cookies and brownies,
- 52:25Speaker 1: which I can't have because I'm a fat kid. But
- 52:27Speaker 1: that brisket, that was worth the guilt I felt for
- 52:31Speaker 1: cheating on my diet.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Cheat day.
- 52:33Speaker 1: It was a cheat week. We were on vacation for
- 52:35Speaker 1: a week. I was on vacation. Yeah. We had Bucky's.
- 52:39Speaker 1: and briskets three times. And we also went to Water
- 52:41Speaker 1: Burger three times. So I went to Water Burger. You
- 52:43Speaker 1: drove me there, but then you did not partake. And
- 52:46Speaker 1: then I had three Dr. Pepper milkshakes, which were glorious.
- 52:50Speaker 1: And I'm pretty sure I gained back all the weight
- 52:51Speaker 1: I lost.
- 52:53Speaker 2: You have very specific needs in your life.
- 52:55Speaker 1: And they are Water Burger Dr. Pepper milkshakes. Can you
- 52:59Speaker 1: imagine if we could get the perfect meal of a
- 53:02Speaker 1: Water Burger Dr. Pepper milkshake, which the more I say it,
- 53:05Speaker 1: the more I can try to get it to show
- 53:07Speaker 1: up on my hand. the water burger, Dr. Pepper milkshake,
- 53:10Speaker 1: and a Bucky sandwich together in one meal.
- 53:15Speaker 2: Magic.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Dude, let's make this fucking happen. How far away is
- 53:18Speaker 1: one from the other?
- 53:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you're going to have to MapQuest this thing. MapQuest?
- 53:21Speaker 1: Who the fuck MapQuest shit?
- 53:23Speaker 2: Somebody referenced that the other day. I was like, wow.
- 53:26Speaker 1: I remember having tons.
- 53:27Speaker 2: Of printed out sheets stuck in my vehicle at the time.
- 53:31Speaker 2: Map questing my way around the world.
- 53:33Speaker 5: You always ended up taking it in the wrong spot.
- 53:35Speaker 1: You ended up in a lake.
- 53:36Speaker 2: Nobody corrected you at all when you went the wrong way.
- 53:39Speaker 2: Nobody was recalculating. They were just like, keep driving the
- 53:43Speaker 2: wrong way, dumbass.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Into the lake.
- 53:45Speaker 5: Then you have to ask directions.
- 53:47Speaker 2: I don't think that's a thing. I don't think you're
- 53:49Speaker 2: allowed to do that.
- 53:50Speaker 1: I got my picture taken with Bucky. And the statue.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Totally redirected back to Bucky's because it's one of my favorites.
- 54:01Speaker 1: It's an experience and I hate people and there are
- 54:03Speaker 1: always a lot of people and I'm usually just like, Bucky's, Bucky's, Bucky's,
- 54:07Speaker 1: what can I buy at Bucky's? I feel like I
- 54:10Speaker 1: must always buy something there.
- 54:11Speaker 2: At some point you'll have the Bucky statue in your home.
- 54:16Speaker 1: At some point there will be a cult of Bucky's
- 54:19Speaker 1: and I will join that cult. And I'll be okay
- 54:22Speaker 1: with it. What did you say? When the world ends.
- 54:24Speaker 5: I said when the world ends, we'll be in the
- 54:26Speaker 5: cult of the beaver.
- 54:27Speaker 1: We will. Proudly, too.
- 54:29Speaker 2: I'm going to start writing this movie. Wait a minute.
- 54:31Speaker 2: Beaver apocalypse. Hold on.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Zombiever is one, but that's not the same. I don't
- 54:37Speaker 1: want a zombie beaver. I don't want zombie Bucky. He's
- 54:41Speaker 1: too wholesome for that. I love Bucky's. It's... Good god damn.
- 54:47Speaker 1: I mean, it is, like I said, but it's like, what,
- 54:49Speaker 1: $ 8 for like one sandwich?
- 54:51Speaker 5: I don't know. I get the XX or the XL sandwich.
- 54:54Speaker 4: The grande.
- 54:55Speaker 5: The grande, yeah. Apparently he's got, I think he's got
- 54:57Speaker 5: tacos too.
- 54:58Speaker 2: I know.
- 54:59Speaker 3: Nice.
- 55:00Speaker 5: But it's always like, no, brisket.
- 55:03Speaker 1: Why aren't we going to, why aren't we getting brisket
- 55:05Speaker 1: for dinner? How far away is Bucky's from here?
- 55:08Speaker 5: Bucky's is probably about 30 minutes from here.
- 55:13Speaker 1: 20 minutes. It took them 24 hours. That's what we
- 55:18Speaker 1: went to. Oh, it's 41 minutes.
- 55:22Speaker 5: It's 41 minutes from here.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Sad days.
- 55:27Speaker 2: Well, speaking of the old Lexington Comic and Toy Convention,
- 55:32Speaker 2: we're back to. Back to the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention.
- 55:38Speaker 2: I'm going to go back inside right now. So, I
- 55:40Speaker 2: think that's where we're going to leave it so we
- 55:42Speaker 2: can go in there and see what's going on. So,
- 55:45Speaker 2: In the meantime, you can start preparing for your trip there.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Go to LexingtonComicCon.com and see what they've got working next time.
- 55:54Speaker 2: And go ahead and get your passes. Again, as you said,
- 55:57Speaker 2: buy them ahead of time because that's the way to
- 55:59Speaker 2: do it. That's how the world works now. So plan ahead,
- 56:02Speaker 2: plan your trip, and go get your tickets now. Or
- 56:04Speaker 2: as soon as they allow.
- 56:05Speaker 1: And then go to Buc-ee's. It's 41 minutes from here.
- 56:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you're road tripping anyway. Stop at a Buc-ee's. Alright,
- 56:12Speaker 2: well thank you to Lexington Comic and Toy Convention for
- 56:14Speaker 2: letting us be part of the magic. And I'm going
- 56:16Speaker 2: to go head back in there right now. So, unless
- 56:19Speaker 2: you guys have anything else to pass along to people.
- 56:21Speaker 5: No.
- 56:22Speaker 2: Georgio! Otherwise, I know how it does it. We will
- 56:25Speaker 2: return next time, same geek feed.
- 56:27Speaker 4: Thanks for listening.
- 56:28Speaker 2: Bye.
- 56:29Speaker 3: Bye.
- 56:30Speaker 6: Just a little more time is all we're asking for.
- 56:39Speaker 6: Cause just a little more time could open, close the door.
- 56:48Speaker 6: Just a little uncertainty can bring you down.
- 56:54Speaker 2: And nobody.
