- 0:00Doo Doo, Doo Doo Doo. Well, hello and thank you so
- 0:03much for joining me on this kind of a special different edition
- 0:07of the Your Rancho Radio podcast.
- 0:09And I just want to welcome you. The number one question is what
- 0:13do you get out of it? What is the point of putting
- 0:17your nose in a book that's, you know, 2 inches thick, 1,000,000
- 0:21pages? How does it relate to the day?
- 0:24You know, how does it relate to my life?
- 0:27How does it help me? You know, that's always going to
- 0:30be the first proposition that anybody asks.
- 0:33And I and I took some notes here because in any human
- 0:37transaction, there's always a cost benefit analysis.
- 0:41You know, your time is valuable to you.
- 0:43So you're going to put your time in things that matter or that
- 0:47have a payoff. And even in the life of Jesus,
- 0:50we see that his mission was twofold.
- 0:54And he also decided to allocate time, the things that were
- 0:59important to him based on one concept, which was does it bring
- 1:04me closer to God and does it bring God closer to me?
- 1:08And that was always his question when he was analyzing his cost
- 1:13benefit analysis. He saw the transaction of a
- 1:18personal relationship with a parent and a child as being
- 1:22beneficial in his life. So when it comes to asking what
- 1:26is the benefit of any human being in knowing the Urantia
- 1:30book? Well, let's apply that question.
- 1:34How does reading or studying the Urantia book benefit me or you?
- 1:39What is my cost benefit analysis?
- 1:42Well, the short answer is that it brings you a greater
- 1:45realization and an appreciation for God.
- 1:49That would be the short answer to the Urantia book.
- 1:51It introduces you to a a more valid, reasonable understanding
- 1:58of deity. And now the longer answer to
- 2:01that question, how does the Urantia book benefit me?
- 2:04It potentially improves your relationship with God.
- 2:08And of course, in this transaction, a person's
- 2:11intellectual capacity improves through the worship of God and
- 2:17having that shared relationship. And in return, it provides
- 2:22spiritual insight into meanings, values, and even a purpose in
- 2:28living. Reading the Urantia Book offers
- 2:31the following benefits based on my personal experience.
- 2:34And here are the benefits of the Urantia book #1 It makes you
- 2:38want to be a better person #2 it provides a cosmic yardstick to
- 2:45help measure your progress as a human being.
- 2:49It makes you feel less anxious knowing that there is a better
- 2:52purpose in living. It offers hope for the future,
- 2:57not only for you as an individual, but for this planet.
- 3:02It provides joy and satisfaction when you contemplate the
- 3:06writings that are in the book. It stabilizes your emotional
- 3:10response to the physical world, to external stimulus, so you're
- 3:15not so overwhelmed. You understand that there's a
- 3:17place and a meaning. The things are cyclical, not
- 3:21always linear. It instills a calm and a
- 3:24contemplation of the Supreme. You receive personal
- 3:30satisfaction when you learn about the life and teachings of
- 3:34the most spiritual being in the universe through the life and
- 3:37teachings of Jesus in part 4. It it maintains that you you
- 3:42have a better relationship and have a real desire to love every
- 3:47other human being that you come into, even if at first you don't
- 3:51like them. It makes you want to help other
- 3:54people and to be a part of other things that are going on around
- 3:57you. It provides a path of
- 4:00personality growth without the normal rituals that so many
- 4:04religions require. And it also gives you that
- 4:08innate experience of knowing that you can choose God or you
- 4:13can reject God, but the choice is totally yours.
- 4:16It's your will. And then the Urantia book helps
- 4:20you to sort of decide that it's the right thing to do, and the
- 4:24right thing to do is always the best thing to do.
- 4:28And you make that decision of your own accord without guilt or
- 4:33without pressure. Also, it gives you the benefit
- 4:35of having the experience of having a real and sublime
- 4:38friendship with Jesus through his Spirit that he bestowed upon
- 4:44us upon his death and resurrection.
- 4:48And probably more than anything, relieve you of the fear of being
- 4:52isolated, of being an orphan in a cosmic sea of Infinity.
- 5:00You're no longer alone. And these are just a few of the
- 5:02benefits, and they're reflective of my own experience and
- 5:08studying and sharing the Urantia book.
- 5:10So I hope that at least I can set a premise that would
- 5:14establish why you would want to spend so much time reading the
- 5:18Urantia book. Now, I will tell you just in
- 5:21brief that the Urantia Book is not an easy read.
- 5:26Many people will start from the beginning, which is what you
- 5:29would naturally do when you're reading any book.
- 5:32But I would say that it's probably better to start with
- 5:35Part 3, because Part 3 sort of takes you through familiar
- 5:41territory so that you get a sense of the grand design and
- 5:47how much work went into making life possible so that mortals
- 5:51like us could eventually evolve. And it's a great place to start.
- 5:55And it also fills in a lot of missing history.
- 5:58And then you'll start to develop a sort of a kinship with the
- 6:02language and at first certain terms won't make any sense to
- 6:06you, but it against the backdrop of the context of human
- 6:10existence, you'll start become more more familiar.
- 6:14Then you can go back and read the first five papers of Part 1,
- 6:20Part 1. The 1st 5 papers will get you
- 6:22started on understanding the Infinity and the eternity, the
- 6:27absoluteness, and also the personality of the Creator,
- 6:32Father, First Source, and Center.
- 6:35So start with either part three of the book or start with the
- 6:391st 5 pages of Part 1, and that'll give you a good place to
- 6:43sort of get used to the journey of exploring the Urantia book.
- 6:48So we'll leave it at that. I hope that that was helpful to
- 6:51you, and I hope to see you often here.
- 6:54And we'll continue to do these sort of introductory series.
- 6:58And I hope the video format works for you.
- 7:00And we're always dropping new episodes once a week right here
- 7:04on this podcast platform. So we'll see you next time and I
- 7:07appreciate you stopping by.
