- 0:00Speaker 1: We were talking about Rob Moujie, my high school buddy.
- 0:02Speaker 1: He now legend. Well he's been mentioned on this podcast
- 0:05Speaker 1: several time. Incredible guy. You know Rob, he's in the
- 0:08Speaker 1: Gulf world. But we were talking about, uh, the sectomies. Yeah,
- 0:12Speaker 1: so let's let's let's get over that real quick. How
- 0:14Speaker 1: many kids do you have? You have one kid? How
- 0:17Speaker 1: many more kids do you want?
- 0:20Speaker 2: No more than one more? Really?
- 0:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not, I think, but I think it's a
- 0:24Speaker 3: product that like I grew up in a two kid household,
- 0:27Speaker 3: and that my wife she was cool with three because
- 0:31Speaker 3: she grew up in a three kid household, but now
- 0:33Speaker 3: she's pretty much on two.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I could do just one, I think.
- 0:36Speaker 3: But I'm also in like the three and a half
- 0:39Speaker 3: I mean, you're in the three and a half month
- 0:40Speaker 3: grind right now, where it's like it's just getting a
- 0:44Speaker 3: little less hard, so I can see like the light
- 0:46Speaker 3: at like, oh this is really fun. But so many
- 0:49Speaker 3: people I feel like the day you have your kid,
- 0:50Speaker 3: you're like it's a gray stay of your life, Like
- 0:53Speaker 3: everything's just like gravy from here.
- 0:55Speaker 2: And it's like, I.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Think you guys forgot about how hard the month is
- 0:58Speaker 3: where you don't sleep like at all, like not like
- 1:01Speaker 3: like if you got an hour, you're like, oh man,
- 1:03Speaker 3: I feel so good. And it's like you I think
- 1:05Speaker 3: people forget. But now that you get that over that
- 1:07Speaker 3: three month hump, I could see having the second one,
- 1:09Speaker 3: but right away people like, oh man, like you know
- 1:12Speaker 3: how many you gonna have?
- 1:13Speaker 2: I'm like the heaven one. Yeah, one. I'm cool, like
- 1:16Speaker 2: this is impossible.
- 1:17Speaker 1: There's a you know, any Sandberg is a comedian. He
- 1:20Speaker 1: was on a like a late talk show one time
- 1:21Speaker 1: and he was talking about having a kid and as
- 1:23Speaker 1: like your your wife is pregnant. One's like, it's a blessing.
- 1:26Speaker 1: It's gonna be the greatest day of your life. And
- 1:28Speaker 1: then once the kids born, everyone's like welcome to hell.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Like they just trick you into like also getting into hell.
- 1:32Speaker 1: That dude that first six months, I mean, Willi's coming up,
- 1:35Speaker 1: his daughter's about to be a year. I got a
- 1:37Speaker 1: five year old and already yeah I went.
- 1:40Speaker 3: You were like in my boat, how is your three?
- 1:42Speaker 3: And almost for you almost months.
- 1:44Speaker 1: You get to that six month mark. Really like the
- 1:47Speaker 1: first six months is like keep just keep it alive,
- 1:50Speaker 1: like you gotta feed it, poop it, make sure, it's
- 1:52Speaker 1: like breathing at all times. And then like once you
- 1:55Speaker 1: get to six months, that's when like the personality really
- 1:57Speaker 1: starts to show. You get the smiles when you walk
- 1:59Speaker 1: in the door.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Tight.
- 2:00Speaker 1: But I got a five year old and it's like
- 2:03Speaker 1: full blown, like it's my little buddy. We're ripping it. Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 1: we have conversations. She's in a pokemon like it's like
- 2:07Speaker 1: a nice little it's a cool deal.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Yeah, because it's like int like having similar interests. You
- 2:13Speaker 3: do have the pooping thing aligned. I do like to poop. Yeah,
- 2:16Speaker 3: you already wipe me. But I'm saying he also likes it.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Like that's our similarity, Like that's our link right now.
- 2:22Speaker 3: But the problem is is like you know, he has
- 2:25Speaker 3: someone wipe his own ass for him, and I still
- 2:27Speaker 3: have to I have to do both of those things.
- 2:29Speaker 2: So that's where we're kind of misaligned.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Is I feel like it's like a it's like for him,
- 2:34Speaker 3: it's just straight up for toy.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I have to work a little bit, you know.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, so he hasn't reciproc but you.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Gotta get him another I don't want to take you to.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Get but like when you're in the beginning of it.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Man, that's just like the hardest thing to to think
- 2:52Speaker 3: about because you're just like, man, what, I'm already marty
- 2:55Speaker 3: in it. It's just as hard as I could possibly
- 2:58Speaker 3: imagine that. We travel so much. Man, it's just like
- 3:02Speaker 3: we just did our first lights what was that three
- 3:06Speaker 3: weeks ago? And every time I like we do anything,
- 3:09Speaker 3: I'm like, how do people do this with two fucking kids?
- 3:11Speaker 3: So too, it's like I have the backpack with the
- 3:14Speaker 3: stroller on, you know that you carry it like the satchel,
- 3:16Speaker 3: and I mean, Lacy my wife was saying, I almost
- 3:18Speaker 3: ran into like one hundred people, and I'm like, well,
- 3:20Speaker 3: that's just their problem at this point because I'm overwhelmed.
- 3:23Speaker 2: So I can't imagine too.
- 3:24Speaker 3: But obviously you get to that point, I'm sure where
- 3:26Speaker 3: it's like that it makes more sense than it seems
- 3:28Speaker 3: reasonable at this point in time.
- 3:30Speaker 5: I right now, it's almost like you know you're about
- 3:33Speaker 5: to take off. You can get in the bottle, you
- 3:34Speaker 5: can kind of like, yeah, I have him on the carrier,
- 3:36Speaker 5: but now that rue is like ten months, Like I
- 3:38Speaker 5: gonna be honest. She was hell like, if we're if
- 3:41Speaker 5: we're coming out of training camp, she's getting cut like
- 3:45Speaker 5: flying down to Austin and flying over to Easy. Now,
- 3:47Speaker 5: flying to Easy wasn't as bad. We got her to
- 3:49Speaker 5: sleep down in the seat. But like they're just one
- 3:52Speaker 5: to move and do everything else, like traveling. It's like
- 3:55Speaker 5: a few hour flight.
- 3:56Speaker 3: I'm glad he's still immobile because I was not a
- 4:00Speaker 3: full player. I'm not ready to chase something around. I walk, yeah,
- 4:03Speaker 3: I can walk fast, but I don't. I don't jog
- 4:05Speaker 3: a whole whole lot of times. So I'm a little
- 4:08Speaker 3: scared for when I can't find him and he's just
- 4:10Speaker 3: running away shitting and pissing and screaming. I'm cool with
- 4:14Speaker 3: him in one place. I know when he screams now,
- 4:16Speaker 3: I know exactly.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Where he is. Ya scared for the days where.
- 4:19Speaker 3: He's gonna be like like Ron was telling me yesterday,
- 4:22Speaker 3: he's like, you know they have to obviously, like his
- 4:24Speaker 3: kid is a little over a year. I think two years,
- 4:26Speaker 3: maybe get two years, and he uh, you know, he's
- 4:29Speaker 3: like he's like he's trying to climb out of the crib,
- 4:31Speaker 3: and I'm just like, that's the scariest I know my
- 4:34Speaker 3: kid's gonna be right where I left him at all.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Times, so I can. I'm cool with that. It's a grind, dude,
- 4:39Speaker 1: It's an absolute grind to have a kid. But I
- 4:41Speaker 1: think he got going for you is I mean the
- 4:43Speaker 1: boy made some bags. Yeah, a few weeks ago. That's
- 4:47Speaker 1: a nice little deal right there. You keep doing that
- 4:49Speaker 1: and no more South last Yeah, yeah, a nice little plane.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Just go ahead, and hey, you can cry and run
- 4:55Speaker 1: around wherever you want.
- 4:56Speaker 3: We did do that all the way home from from
- 4:58Speaker 3: San Diego and it was really like, it was really relaxing.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I will say, though, to all the parents out there
- 5:04Speaker 3: who don't fly as often as I do and they
- 5:08Speaker 3: feel bad when their kid like screams on a plane.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I've been on as many planes as I think like
- 5:15Speaker 3: anybody really has, and at some point I got over
- 5:19Speaker 3: it's like they make noise canceling headphones.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Now, yes, bro, that's all.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You gotta brought that up yesterday.
- 5:25Speaker 3: It's a kid like they're gonna scream. I mean maybe
- 5:27Speaker 3: when I was like twenty twenty one years old, I
- 5:29Speaker 3: was a god. It's annoying. I got the kid behind me,
- 5:31Speaker 3: but it's like they got noise can sling handles. I
- 5:33Speaker 3: even thought like if I if I was just making crazy,
- 5:35Speaker 3: crazy money.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I'll just buy everybody noise canceling headphones back.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Get a headphone.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, here you guys go. No complaining now though, Like
- 5:46Speaker 3: I'm good, You're good.
- 5:48Speaker 5: It seems natural though, like I was like it would
- 5:50Speaker 5: be internally in my head, I'm like, man, this kid,
- 5:52Speaker 5: quiet down. But now that you're a parent, you're like,
- 5:54Speaker 5: you know the parents, The parents are about way worse
- 5:57Speaker 5: than you are, because there are parents who are like, man,
- 6:00Speaker 5: you want to fuy down because you know how everybody
- 6:01Speaker 5: else might feel because you were once there. What yeah,
- 6:04Speaker 5: not like actually looking like people who look and give
- 6:07Speaker 5: like faces.
- 6:08Speaker 1: It's like, yo, fuck you if you yeah, if it's
- 6:11Speaker 1: like an older woman, it's always the older woman that
- 6:13Speaker 1: kind of looks like what do you? What do you do?
- 6:15Speaker 1: And say, man, you're sitting in the middle seat in
- 6:17Speaker 1: Southwest if you had to see, it was gonna be
- 6:19Speaker 1: a tough flight for you.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Regardless.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Disconnect. I do believe this. There's a disconnect because it
- 6:23Speaker 3: is more expensive. It's public transportation. It's just a bus
- 6:28Speaker 3: in the air. If I was on a bus and
- 6:30Speaker 3: someone was screaming, I've been on bus. I lived in
- 6:32Speaker 3: Berkeley for four years, I'm on bus where people are
- 6:34Speaker 3: taking pisses in the aisle and it's like you just
- 6:38Speaker 3: didn't even bat an eye. You go on the bart
- 6:40Speaker 3: and there's just a homeless DUDEO lives there. It smells
- 6:42Speaker 3: it terrible, But you're like, yeah, this public transportation. But
- 6:45Speaker 3: for some reason, when you're up in the clouds, people
- 6:47Speaker 3: to expect everybody to, you know, wear like a suit
- 6:49Speaker 3: and tie and just read.
- 6:51Speaker 4: But like you're kind of like, it really is.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I want to know why people are pissing in the
- 6:55Speaker 1: middle of the aisle of a bus.
- 6:56Speaker 4: You know, he said he grew up the Californi you
- 6:57Speaker 4: got homeless people.
- 6:58Speaker 3: He's got a big homeless by relation, and you see
- 7:00Speaker 3: a lot of ship and I mean that quite literally.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Well, like California is El Dorado for the homeless community
- 7:06Speaker 1: that is, that is a place you really need to get.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yeah, gotta everywhere's in ocean.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah, people in Minnesota that are holmeless were like, have
- 7:13Speaker 1: you heard about this place California? We could get there.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Flyers like yeah, Okay, someday I'm gona head west for
- 7:20Speaker 1: three years. You'll never do it.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Almost due to Minnesota. Last time I was there, and
- 7:23Speaker 3: that guy's brave. Man, it gets fucking cool.
- 7:26Speaker 1: It's fucking cold in.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Minnesota, California. I mean, like if I was, I would
- 7:29Speaker 3: just live in San Diego and it would be great. Yeah,
- 7:31Speaker 3: I mean that'd be awesome.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Yeah, if you want, you can stumble over to Mexico
- 7:34Speaker 1: real quick. But a PJ. You have a couple of
- 7:37Speaker 1: nice shows coming back. A lot of entertainment down there
- 7:39Speaker 1: in southern California, a lot of entertainment. What do you
- 7:42Speaker 1: live in San Diego now?
- 7:43Speaker 2: No, I'm here.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I'm twenty minutes from here, but I I grew up
- 7:46Speaker 3: in Los Angeles.
- 7:49Speaker 2: But we've been here four years now.
- 7:50Speaker 1: You a Paradise Valley guy.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I'm Arcadia.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Oh nice, Arcadia is south of Paradise Valley, Money Valley.
- 8:00Speaker 1: It's like Arcadia is like it's like the nicest area
- 8:03Speaker 1: of Arizona.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I grew up in Cave Creek.
- 8:05Speaker 3: No way. Yeah, so we just moved Arcadia. We were
- 8:08Speaker 3: living up by like where TPC is. We were living
- 8:10Speaker 3: by like Kierlin.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yeah for a while. But uh, Arcadie feels kind of
- 8:13Speaker 2: like California.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Like you guys had those kind of vibes. It's weird,
- 8:17Speaker 1: like love down a neighborhood in Arcadia and it'll be
- 8:19Speaker 1: like lush.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's cool. It's a cool set up for
- 8:22Speaker 3: for Arizona. It's different, but yeah it is. It has
- 8:25Speaker 3: been funny living down there because like there is a
- 8:30Speaker 3: I'm not forty towty guy, but but our forty twenty
- 8:34Speaker 3: people down there.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yeah, you go, I just got a little north I know.
- 8:37Speaker 1: But Cave Creek it's more salt of the earth.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I believe that.
- 8:41Speaker 3: But I just kept my wife and I can't do they.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I haven't fallen in love with the cactus yet.
- 8:48Speaker 1: That's a beautiful thing.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Better. I think that's fair. Yeah, I know you take
- 8:51Speaker 4: take a lot of pride in the cacti.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of like all we got, all we
- 8:55Speaker 1: got out.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Here that they can differentiate the cacti, which I'm.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Just like, it's just a cactus. Yeah, there's lots of
- 9:03Speaker 1: the choy I think is how long you've heard about
- 9:05Speaker 1: the jumping toil Yeah, hey, fuck them up right now. Yeah,
- 9:09Speaker 1: we'll blame them the called jumping jumping. They're like basically
- 9:16Speaker 1: like the defense mechanism. Defense mechanism of a choy is
- 9:19Speaker 1: if you get close to it, it'll literally lean into
- 9:21Speaker 1: you and then get you so it'll get you away
- 9:23Speaker 1: from it. And it's one of those things like if
- 9:25Speaker 1: you like touch it, it breaks off real easily, so
- 9:27Speaker 1: it'll be like all over your hands and arms and
- 9:29Speaker 1: stuff like that. And they're like they like they look
- 9:31Speaker 1: like big bushes and you can just like stacks of
- 9:34Speaker 1: just prickles everywhere.
- 9:35Speaker 3: My buddy put his foot over one once it was
- 9:38Speaker 3: on the ground. He put his foot over it, kind
- 9:40Speaker 3: of screwing around like oh, I'm gonna step on it.
- 9:41Speaker 5: And yeah, but holy fuck, yeah, Like what's the point
- 9:46Speaker 5: of those things, you know what I mean?
- 9:49Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what kind of value are they adding? Though
- 9:51Speaker 4: I'm sure they do.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Like I'm sure somebody somebody's out there pissed off right now.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Like how does will fucking not know?
- 9:57Speaker 1: No, I mean I think the choy is like only
- 10:00Speaker 1: here here in like New Mexico. Yeah, Like it's kind
- 10:02Speaker 1: of like a it's a rare thing.
- 10:04Speaker 4: It's interesting how long cactuses can live.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a fun thing too. Wars like two hundred
- 10:10Speaker 1: years old. It's wild. But that's what this is not,
- 10:13Speaker 1: what this podcast is not about. You are, so you're
- 10:17Speaker 1: at the way you're doing the waste management. Obviously you
- 10:19Speaker 1: gotta be. We're thinking about we're thinking about Saturday right now,
- 10:23Speaker 1: we're thinking about Saturday. Yeah, And then so how does
- 10:27Speaker 1: like waste management? To me growing up here? Last year?
- 10:30Speaker 1: What's that he hit one last year?
- 10:32Speaker 4: You got it? You got one last year?
- 10:33Speaker 2: Didn't you hold one? No? That was Sam right, that's crazy.
- 10:38Speaker 1: That's that's just that's just us not doing our homework,
- 10:40Speaker 1: because I legit I was sitting with Will there being like, damn,
- 10:42Speaker 1: did he really get a hole in one? But that like,
- 10:44Speaker 1: how does the waste management? How is it different from
- 10:47Speaker 1: things like Augusta and like other places, because it seems
- 10:49Speaker 1: like it literally is out of like happy Gil No,
- 10:52Speaker 1: it's as.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it really is. Shooter mcgavan would struggle here. So
- 10:57Speaker 3: that's how I put in context. They don't tell you
- 10:59Speaker 3: exactly how many people come to the gates, but I
- 11:00Speaker 3: know roughly so on a on a given even a good,
- 11:05Speaker 3: good golf tournament day, like I would say Farmers Insurance
- 11:08Speaker 3: two weeks ago, final round probably had that's where he
- 11:11Speaker 3: made twenty five thirty thousand people, Yeah, which feels.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Like a lot at a golf tournament.
- 11:16Speaker 3: It's spread out, but feels like a lot Saturday at
- 11:19Speaker 3: the waste Management this week we'll probably have two hundred
- 11:21Speaker 3: and fifty thousand people. It's like the top five six
- 11:23Speaker 3: sporting event in a day, and it's all week. I
- 11:27Speaker 3: mean yesterday, Yesterday's Monday. It's a first day of the
- 11:29Speaker 3: course is open to practice or sorry for the fans.
- 11:32Speaker 3: But typically even some of the events don't even open
- 11:35Speaker 3: and you know you'll trickle in like a few people
- 11:37Speaker 3: on Mes some Monday people have jobs. I mean yesterday
- 11:40Speaker 3: was still chaos. I mean, it's so many people. So
- 11:42Speaker 3: it's different. But my story that explains it. We call
- 11:45Speaker 3: it all the golfers call it a party that a
- 11:47Speaker 3: golf tournament broke out at. So it's like if we
- 11:50Speaker 3: were here drinking, then all of a sudden, you're like,
- 11:51Speaker 3: you know, you want to go mess around on that
- 11:52Speaker 3: putting green.
- 11:53Speaker 2: And like that's that's like the scale.
- 11:55Speaker 3: So my first year ever playing at I I t
- 11:59Speaker 3: off on Thursday off the back nine and sixteen's you
- 12:02Speaker 3: know right where like everyone filters in through ten, they
- 12:05Speaker 3: walk past ten, past eleven and filter into sixteen and.
- 12:09Speaker 4: I walk off the tea.
- 12:10Speaker 3: I got, you know, all my golf clothes, arm Spike's on,
- 12:12Speaker 3: looking like a professional golfer. I got my caddie carrying
- 12:14Speaker 3: the clubs, looking like a caddie. And there's a huge
- 12:17Speaker 3: line of people and there's these two attractive women in
- 12:19Speaker 3: front of me, and I say excuse me, and they're
- 12:21Speaker 3: in like heels and dresses and all this.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Shit, and and they like look at me and look
- 12:26Speaker 2: back away.
- 12:27Speaker 3: I was like, I was like, excuse me, like I'm
- 12:28Speaker 3: trying to get through to the fairway, and she gave
- 12:32Speaker 3: me like the I have a boyfriend look, and I
- 12:36Speaker 3: was like, what the fuck.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Are we doing?
- 12:38Speaker 3: Like I'm working, like you're here because there's a golf room.
- 12:41Speaker 3: But most of the people don't even like that's not
- 12:44Speaker 3: even part of it, Like that's not the vibe.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I mean they have clubs like I have my buddy.
- 12:49Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys know the you know
- 12:51Speaker 3: he's just Mike now, but Mike's stud and all those
- 12:54Speaker 3: we are.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Yeah, he's one of the he's been a few times.
- 12:57Speaker 3: They rolled through last year, him Blue and all the
- 12:59Speaker 3: boy and I got them passes. It's thing called the Greenskeeper.
- 13:02Speaker 3: It's left of eighteen and it's like I've never been.
- 13:05Speaker 3: I've never got this like see anything. But it's kind
- 13:06Speaker 3: of like a day club, like outdoor day club. And
- 13:09Speaker 3: he's like, hey, I'm gonna come out uh And I
- 13:11Speaker 3: was like, okay, I got you guys these wrist bands
- 13:13Speaker 3: and he'said, no, we want to play watch you play golf.
- 13:15Speaker 3: I said okay, but I was like, we'll let you know,
- 13:16Speaker 3: like it's really fun like every day, but especially Saturday, like,
- 13:19Speaker 3: don't feel obligated to come watch me play, like get
- 13:22Speaker 3: in there. So I text him after I was like, hey, man, sorry,
- 13:25Speaker 3: like I didn't say high, like there's.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Just a lot of people out there.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Whatever.
- 13:27Speaker 2: He goes, he's like I think he text.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Me two days later because he was like never even
- 13:32Speaker 3: left the greenskeeper, like it was just too much fun
- 13:34Speaker 3: because it's just like beer gardens, so like people don't
- 13:36Speaker 3: even know there's golf going on sixteen, you know.
- 13:38Speaker 2: But you're there just to boo and get really drunk.
- 13:42Speaker 3: And it's different from anything ever, because every other golf
- 13:46Speaker 3: tournament is the it's the golf tournament. It's the priority
- 13:48Speaker 3: in this case, like that is the alcohol is the priorities?
- 13:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's especially that's sixteenth it's.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Crazy, it's insane.
- 13:57Speaker 5: How do you get go ahead, bub, I'm just gonna
- 13:58Speaker 5: say how you feel about everyone starting to throw all
- 14:01Speaker 5: that alcohol onto the so I like the green, like
- 14:03Speaker 5: how it was like chaos.
- 14:05Speaker 2: It was a little mud. So basically they had to
- 14:07Speaker 2: change it this year.
- 14:09Speaker 3: I'm not gonna go out here and say it's like
- 14:10Speaker 3: life and dead dangerous, but I mean people are chucking,
- 14:12Speaker 3: you know, hands at you that are full of beer
- 14:15Speaker 3: and like, you know cold. My buddy cold got hit
- 14:17Speaker 3: with one last year and he's like, didn't feel good.
- 14:20Speaker 3: I don't mind it. It's it's crazy. I like this.
- 14:23Speaker 3: This is good for golf. I don't think every week,
- 14:25Speaker 3: but it's good for golf. But they are putting cups
- 14:26Speaker 3: and solo cups this year, so if you do chuck
- 14:28Speaker 3: them at least like we're not gonna get beaned. But
- 14:31Speaker 3: I don't know, I like it. It's fun, It's it's
- 14:34Speaker 3: it's chaos. It's crazy. It's like we golf is such
- 14:38Speaker 3: like an older, older person's sport that like making it
- 14:41Speaker 3: younger and all this and that whatever. The only problem
- 14:44Speaker 3: with last year that we got a little of that
- 14:46Speaker 3: they're starting to do it for anything. Like they crave.
- 14:49Speaker 3: It's like you pradas the chaos, and they're like they're like, man,
- 14:52Speaker 3: if he if he makes this thirty footer, we're gonna
- 14:55Speaker 3: throw it. And then they'll miss and he's like he
- 14:56Speaker 3: taps it in though we'll throw it too. It's like yeah, okay,
- 15:00Speaker 3: or you know, like make it make like for the
- 15:02Speaker 3: home one, like go nuts for a bunker shot. You
- 15:05Speaker 3: make go nuts, long pup go nuts. It did feel
- 15:07Speaker 3: like last year was kind of like anything we can
- 15:09Speaker 3: possibly make happen and make worth it, we're gonna do it.
- 15:12Speaker 3: But it's cool, man, it's a it's rare. I have
- 15:15Speaker 3: my favorite funniest stories from this event, and last year
- 15:18Speaker 3: was up there with the most humanizing and also kind
- 15:21Speaker 3: of funny thing ever. But I was in a late
- 15:23Speaker 3: group on Saturday, I think, and we get to fifteen,
- 15:27Speaker 3: I'm making like a little charge and uh, I don't
- 15:30Speaker 3: know why the people who set the tournament up did this,
- 15:32Speaker 3: but there's a ported body like on the tee and
- 15:35Speaker 3: it is really close to a lot of people, and
- 15:36Speaker 3: you know, obviously they're quite noisy.
- 15:38Speaker 2: And I had a healthy stream that day, so I.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Hop in there and everyone watches me go in there,
- 15:43Speaker 3: and I could hear people like, you know, chanting as
- 15:45Speaker 3: I'm like in the bathroom, and it's like really uncomfortable,
- 15:50Speaker 3: and I get out and I just get like, I mean,
- 15:52Speaker 3: they're already standing, but it's still like a standing ovation
- 15:55Speaker 3: like a roar happens as I leave this bathroom. I
- 15:58Speaker 3: looked at Joe and I'm like, dude, I don't even
- 15:59Speaker 3: feel like a pucket person anymore. For a piss like
- 16:02Speaker 3: they got. Didn't have to take a ship because like that,
- 16:04Speaker 3: it just doesn't have been a tough one in there.
- 16:06Speaker 3: So you have that. I've had my favorite heckles have
- 16:10Speaker 3: been at this one. U. So it's a great event.
- 16:12Speaker 3: It's just, uh, it's very different.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Is it a when you're looking at like your first
- 16:18Speaker 1: couple of times doing the waste management, is there like
- 16:20Speaker 1: a level of fomo that you had at any point?
- 16:22Speaker 1: Being like these people are having every incredible time every year.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I remember, like I don't know about you, but like
- 16:27Speaker 1: being on the buses going to like college foot blun
- 16:29Speaker 1: steing all these all these people tail getting Like damn,
- 16:32Speaker 1: I've never been to a tailgat.
- 16:33Speaker 2: I got to do all the tail getting. Yeah, so
- 16:35Speaker 2: we roll reverse it is hard. Man.
- 16:38Speaker 3: I guess like last year I got I got all
- 16:40Speaker 3: these friends in town. Uh and like one night, you know,
- 16:45Speaker 3: like again invited to go to dinner with like Golf
- 16:48Speaker 3: who I'm buddies with, and Yelich and all like just
- 16:51Speaker 3: like my favorite like coolest athlete friends who we keep
- 16:53Speaker 3: up with each other, but I never get to see
- 16:55Speaker 3: them because they're busy. When when when I'm not busy
- 16:58Speaker 3: and I'm busy when they're busy, And they're like, man,
- 16:59Speaker 3: we're going out to bottle blonde a night. You know,
- 17:02Speaker 3: I know it's probably hard, but you want to come.
- 17:04Speaker 3: And I'm just like fuck you, yeah, like I want
- 17:06Speaker 3: to know. But and then they're like, no, you're not coming.
- 17:09Speaker 3: I'm like I know, but like you just all the
- 17:11Speaker 3: parties are this week and it's so much fun and
- 17:13Speaker 3: everyone's out and watching people like just drink while we're
- 17:18Speaker 3: all golfing and just seem like truly having the time
- 17:20Speaker 3: of their lives while I'm just like wrestling between making
- 17:23Speaker 3: bogies birdies and bars.
- 17:24Speaker 2: It's just like it's just not nearly as fun. Yeah,
- 17:28Speaker 2: changing diapers.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Yeah, Now this week's super Bowl week.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Yeah, Now it's super Bowl every year it's just crazier.
- 17:35Speaker 3: But I don't know, man, I have fomo every year
- 17:37Speaker 3: at this event, but there have been times like my favorite,
- 17:42Speaker 3: like like last year is Saturday, my last like five
- 17:45Speaker 3: holes is my like one of my favorite things that's
- 17:47Speaker 3: happened to me and golf, just because when you do
- 17:49Speaker 3: perform in front of those people, you guys would would
- 17:52Speaker 3: get this more. We don't get this very often, but
- 17:54Speaker 3: it's like the rush of it is well, you know,
- 17:56Speaker 3: it's worth not drinking the beers.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Uh.
- 18:00Speaker 3: But yeah, there's still times where I'm like, god, dang,
- 18:01Speaker 3: it looks pretty, you know. If I get it on
- 18:03Speaker 3: like a little bogie around, I'm like, I could just
- 18:05Speaker 3: be out there right now, like, yeah, well I got
- 18:07Speaker 3: full act. I got this little credential gets me everywhere.
- 18:09Speaker 3: I could be doing all the coolest stuff.
- 18:11Speaker 2: But I don't know. It's a it's a good trade off.
- 18:13Speaker 5: Here's a question, how important in the scheme of Jay
- 18:18Speaker 5: rankings and all that is the waste management. That's what
- 18:21Speaker 5: I'm thinking, is this, why not become the golfer it's
- 18:24Speaker 5: drinking while you're playing.
- 18:26Speaker 1: John Daly, Oh he does that. He smokes cigarettes and drinks.
- 18:33Speaker 1: He's the fine because you're not allowed to.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Drinks or not we're not allowed to Yeah, maybe that'll
- 18:38Speaker 2: be a.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Rule we could knock down just for this tournament. Just
- 18:42Speaker 1: like that's weird when you go to a dusta. I've
- 18:45Speaker 1: never been, but it's like the hot dogs are still
- 18:47Speaker 1: the same prices the day they open. They have like
- 18:50Speaker 1: message Yeah, like like presidents and like senators can like
- 18:54Speaker 1: golf on this place other than pro golfers, Like why
- 18:56Speaker 1: not make the waste management like the ultimate like fuck
- 19:00Speaker 1: you to golf in a way that like takes this
- 19:02Speaker 1: these younger generations and it's like, oh, we want to
- 19:04Speaker 1: do this ship.
- 19:05Speaker 2: This is awesome, not a terrible. Yeah, we could have
- 19:08Speaker 2: a one innovator.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Golf.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Yeah. It's like you guys, watch the Wire.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I've not seen a lot. There's so many shows out
- 19:17Speaker 1: there now that are amazing, Like Last of Us is
- 19:19Speaker 1: now a thing that everyone's watching.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Wow.
- 19:23Speaker 3: But they have a thing called Hamsterdam where like the
- 19:25Speaker 3: in Baltimore, they made like you could do drugs in
- 19:27Speaker 3: this one square mile you could do whatever you wanted.
- 19:30Speaker 3: There was no rules, and like that's what this event
- 19:32Speaker 3: should be. It's like, yeah, the one place where like,
- 19:34Speaker 3: well we'll turn a blind eye to this.
- 19:36Speaker 1: That's perfect. Captioning. Maxholma thinks heroin should be allowed. Yeah,
- 19:40Speaker 1: no drugs.
- 19:42Speaker 4: You brought that up. What's one rule you would change?
- 19:45Speaker 2: In golf man?
- 19:49Speaker 3: Big Cat. Big Cat did say something on part of
- 19:52Speaker 3: my take once. I don't know if you guys ever
- 19:53Speaker 3: heard that one, but where he said that you should
- 19:56Speaker 3: be allowed to fight one fanny year.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Any sport.
- 20:01Speaker 3: And I was like last year at the PGA in Oklahoma,
- 20:05Speaker 3: I was telling Joe my caddy about that rule because
- 20:09Speaker 3: there's this fucking guy that was just wearing me out
- 20:11Speaker 3: for like six holes in a row. He's clearly just
- 20:13Speaker 3: walking with us, and I was just like do. I
- 20:16Speaker 3: was like, that's the fucking guy, Like, that's my guy.
- 20:19Speaker 3: But you have to be smart about it because I'm
- 20:21Speaker 3: not like a super large man. I'd pick a small
- 20:23Speaker 3: guy and I just go to town. And I think
- 20:26Speaker 3: I think that would be that would be a good one.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Obviously pretty pretty unrealistic, unrealistic rule change, but definitely something
- 20:32Speaker 3: if we thought of.
- 20:32Speaker 2: I do think that I do think that like live
- 20:36Speaker 2: towards doing it. Like shorts.
- 20:37Speaker 3: I don't mind, like you could wear shorts. It makes
- 20:39Speaker 3: us seem like at least a little less dorky, although
- 20:43Speaker 3: some people got like very white legs.
- 20:47Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I the the real one is I guess the real
- 20:51Speaker 3: one I would do is like range finders, the lasers
- 20:53Speaker 3: you shoot the pin distance wise, I would use because
- 20:55Speaker 3: if everyone has one, I don't see the advantage of it.
- 20:58Speaker 3: So it's like, might as well do it. It'll speak
- 21:00Speaker 3: things up to an extent, makes things easier on everybody.
- 21:03Speaker 2: That one seems pretty basic, but we'll see.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Is it.
- 21:07Speaker 4: So?
- 21:07Speaker 1: Speaking of like fighting, guys, is there a golfer that
- 21:12Speaker 1: you would, given the opportunity, would maybe throw hands with?
- 21:18Speaker 5: I mean, I get yeah, I mean it could be anybody.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Is somebody on the front of your mind. You can
- 21:27Speaker 1: say them, you don't have to say him. Who do
- 21:29Speaker 1: you think you could take in the tour? I could
- 21:32Speaker 1: take like I could take a lot of I was.
- 21:34Speaker 2: I was. I'm blessed.
- 21:35Speaker 3: My dad was a boxer growing up, so he taught
- 21:37Speaker 3: me at a box. I'm very unassuming, like I know
- 21:40Speaker 3: I could at least I'm also not scared to get
- 21:43Speaker 3: my ass beat like that at some point. Yeah, like
- 21:46Speaker 3: like like we fought obviously, you guys are all.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Gonna kick my ass.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Like I'm cool with that, but like I'd rather do
- 21:51Speaker 3: that than like run, So I'm gonna at least stand
- 21:55Speaker 3: in there and take a few.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Uh. But yeah, I mean think that there's a lot
- 21:58Speaker 2: of guys on tour.
- 21:59Speaker 3: I would I would, I would like my chance against
- 22:01Speaker 3: But it's not like I dislike that many people, or
- 22:03Speaker 3: really anybody enough to just be like I'm just gonna
- 22:07Speaker 3: bite him. But I mean there's times when you're pissed
- 22:09Speaker 3: off and it's kind of just any when you make
- 22:11Speaker 3: like four bogies in a row, it's kind of just anybody.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Yeah, anybody's wrong.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I'm ready right now. My dad always had this joke.
- 22:17Speaker 3: I wore a or this ugly ass pink shirt when
- 22:20Speaker 3: I was a junior golfer and this guy we were
- 22:23Speaker 3: leaving the course.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I paid so bad.
- 22:25Speaker 3: I'm so mad, steaming in the front seat. I'm probably
- 22:27Speaker 3: like fifteen sixteen, and this guy cuts off my dad.
- 22:31Speaker 3: He's usually like a little more of the hot head
- 22:33Speaker 3: than me, and I start yelling at the car.
- 22:35Speaker 2: The guy in front. My dad goes. My dad goes,
- 22:38Speaker 2: if you.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Want to get out, you can get out, and he
- 22:42Speaker 3: was like, could you imagine like on the news, like
- 22:44Speaker 3: like golfer and pink shirt just beats the hell out
- 22:47Speaker 3: of some road raged driver. And I was like, yeah,
- 22:51Speaker 3: this probably wasn't gonna go that way. I probably you know,
- 22:53Speaker 3: end up flat on my back. But we have no
- 22:57Speaker 3: I've always been scared of a golfer actually fighting another
- 23:00Speaker 3: because like, we just had a tee throwing incident a
- 23:04Speaker 3: year a week ago in Dubai. We have Rory McElroy
- 23:08Speaker 3: and uh Patrick Reed. Patrick Greed like flicked a tee
- 23:11Speaker 3: towards Rory and it was a humongous story, which is
- 23:14Speaker 3: pretty sad. And uh, I'm really nervous that if we
- 23:18Speaker 3: ever anybody did get in a real altercation. We just
- 23:22Speaker 3: never make things look cool, and we can't make fighting
- 23:26Speaker 3: look cool. Like there's just no way since two golfers
- 23:28Speaker 3: are actually gonna have like a real fistfight that you're like,
- 23:31Speaker 3: oh wow, you know it's gonna be like oh boy,
- 23:33Speaker 3: you know, like, oh that was a bad look for
- 23:36Speaker 3: all of us.
- 23:36Speaker 2: So I hope we view you know, it would bring viewers,
- 23:40Speaker 2: it would.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Cringe and like kind of be like okay, you know
- 23:42Speaker 3: I did indeed to see that. So I feel like
- 23:44Speaker 3: It's good that most of us are are smart enough
- 23:47Speaker 3: not to ever really even get into a hold me
- 23:51Speaker 3: back situation.
- 23:52Speaker 2: We we avoid it at all costs.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Is there an internal rivalry that you have that your
- 23:58Speaker 5: opponent doesn't even know he's a part.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Of multiple but not in a I don't like them?
- 24:04Speaker 3: Why just like when I would want to beat him
- 24:06Speaker 3: way uh man Tom kim uh And he has the
- 24:12Speaker 3: same thing. I know he does because his Caddy is
- 24:13Speaker 3: one of my best friends. I know he has the
- 24:15Speaker 3: same thing. But we played singles at Presidents CuPy. The
- 24:18Speaker 3: sad part is sce he's twenty, I'm thirty two.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Hold on, hold on one second, yes, sir, I don't well.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Oh so are you gonna abide by the what you're
- 24:29Speaker 4: being told?
- 24:30Speaker 2: Hey, Dave gonna meet you.
- 24:35Speaker 1: We're doing We're well in lying, brother, No, we're just
- 24:41Speaker 1: trying to do our part.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Because we're doing. We're doing you know why we're doing
- 24:45Speaker 2: And we've got people coming up be like, you can't talk.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Do you know why we're doing this down here? Because
- 24:49Speaker 4: we're doing the rundown right yesterday?
- 24:52Speaker 2: Because you have to do it.
- 24:53Speaker 4: All I'm saying is we're trying to fuck we're trying.
- 24:56Speaker 2: To do this.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Talk there or not you're allowed to talk?
- 24:59Speaker 1: I think, I mean yeah, like your house.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, that's why I said, though I
- 25:03Speaker 3: came in and like the Boston guy says, no one
- 25:05Speaker 3: can talk up there.
- 25:06Speaker 4: So what'd you said?
- 25:06Speaker 2: What was your reaction here and asked permission to talk?
- 25:10Speaker 1: Okay?
- 25:11Speaker 2: All right, thanks.
- 25:13Speaker 4: I hope your shows so well.
- 25:15Speaker 5: You never know what you're gonna get with him, you know,
- 25:18Speaker 5: when he made the comment, I was thinking about it too,
- 25:20Speaker 5: and he was like, when you're fifty three, fifty fourth roster,
- 25:22Speaker 5: you're gonna be early to the meeting. It's like when
- 25:24Speaker 5: you're the owner, you can show up whenever you want to.
- 25:26Speaker 5: But it's like, yeah, if you want to want to
- 25:27Speaker 5: run a pisspoor organization, lead from the front, he said,
- 25:30Speaker 5: found up, Lead from the front, Leading from the front,
- 25:32Speaker 5: Like that's culture, Like we know there's a heart out
- 25:34Speaker 5: here at ten fifteen, and he wants to come take
- 25:36Speaker 5: three minutes of our time. That's hey, though, I tell
- 25:39Speaker 5: you what the day folks are the boys he does
- 25:41Speaker 5: fun with them.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Like that's he's the dad. He's the dad that's never
- 25:44Speaker 1: going to say I love you. But like the more
- 25:46Speaker 1: he makes fun of you, like he cares. Yeah, yeah,
- 25:48Speaker 1: he cares, and that's that's important. I feel like during
- 25:51Speaker 1: the thing, what'd you ask does he love you? You think, oh, yeah,
- 25:55Speaker 1: you love us? Yes, I think so. I mean I
- 25:57Speaker 1: think we're probably yeah, top five.
- 26:00Speaker 5: People don't think he'll ever say it, and I think
- 26:01Speaker 5: he'll always like, you know, make those faces.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Like he'll just go yeah, I mean I like you guys,
- 26:06Speaker 1: guse you're fine. He usually I mean, you should doing
- 26:08Speaker 1: great job. He has worked for me, and he'll just
- 26:09Speaker 1: say something that like wouldn't make him seem like he's
- 26:12Speaker 1: the boss, and then we just's.
- 26:14Speaker 2: That one pat on the back. You're like, oh yeah, yeah,
- 26:16Speaker 2: he doesn't.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I think he's not a whole lot of paths.
- 26:19Speaker 4: He hangs with Silvana and they'll like look at some
- 26:21Speaker 4: more kind of stuff and they kind of chuckle.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Yeah, he'll be laying in bed and just kind of
- 26:25Speaker 1: but it'll never say you see this, He'll never say that,
- 26:27Speaker 1: like those guys are stupid, and they'll just kind of
- 26:29Speaker 1: keep scrolling.
- 26:30Speaker 4: I'm Kim, yeah, Kim.
- 26:32Speaker 2: So yeah, he's twenty, I'm thirty two.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Uh, he's a future or he already is super Star
- 26:37Speaker 3: Wars the Future just like World.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Beater, uh talent.
- 26:41Speaker 3: And I think part of it is that I'm just
- 26:43Speaker 3: jealous that it took me so long to figure it
- 26:47Speaker 3: out and he's, you know, can't even legally drink and
- 26:50Speaker 3: he's just whooping up on all of us.
- 26:52Speaker 1: That's probably part of it, and not a.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Lot of it is just Caddy and I, you know,
- 26:55Speaker 3: I have to see him all the time, so I
- 26:56Speaker 3: want to. I don't know, it's like it's like a
- 26:59Speaker 3: motivating thing. So I definitely, you know, check in how
- 27:02Speaker 3: he's doing in tournaments, and I hope that I win
- 27:05Speaker 3: more tournaments than he does h until I retire much
- 27:08Speaker 3: earlier than he will. But it's also an embarrassing one.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Like I said, you want a rival that's like your age,
- 27:14Speaker 3: and this kid is like he's truly a child. So
- 27:18Speaker 3: what I was doing at twenty versus what he was
- 27:20Speaker 3: doing at twenty is just so drastically different.
- 27:22Speaker 2: It's outrageous.
- 27:23Speaker 3: But he's he's definitely ho on my list right now,
- 27:25Speaker 3: and he's also taking me to dinner next week. He's
- 27:27Speaker 3: taking me to a Korean barbecue next week in La So
- 27:30Speaker 3: we're all also really good friends.
- 27:32Speaker 4: I think closer.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'm staying it. Yeah, but he might food
- 27:36Speaker 3: poison me. I'm not really sure. I don't know where
- 27:38Speaker 3: his rivalry in this stands, but I know I know
- 27:40Speaker 3: he feels similarly.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Is here this week? He's here this week?
- 27:43Speaker 1: Yeah? Anything, that's when does it? It starts Thursday, right,
- 27:46Speaker 1: the first day of everything?
- 27:47Speaker 2: Startursday?
- 27:48Speaker 1: And do you get paired up with him a lot?
- 27:50Speaker 2: Or now I've been paired up with him? Maybe this
- 27:53Speaker 2: is where the other part.
- 27:53Speaker 3: I got paired up with him in Vegas this year
- 27:55Speaker 3: and then he won the golf tournament didn't make a
- 27:57Speaker 3: bogie for all seventy two holes, which is just like
- 27:59Speaker 3: not a real thing.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Yeah, so he did that, man? He so? Yeah? Is
- 28:07Speaker 1: uh you? You brought up caddies a couple of times, like,
- 28:09Speaker 1: I don't know golf. I probably swung a club ten
- 28:11Speaker 1: times in my entire life. I'm awful. But what is like,
- 28:15Speaker 1: how important is a caddy through the process of the
- 28:17Speaker 1: weekend for you, like sizing things up for you and stuff?
- 28:20Speaker 1: For me?
- 28:20Speaker 4: Is what do they do?
- 28:21Speaker 1: In general? Just like give me the basic one on
- 28:22Speaker 1: one on what a caddy does.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Their bones is carry the clubs, clean the clubs and
- 28:27Speaker 3: get like numbers and kind of do like strategy type stuff.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Mine is different.
- 28:31Speaker 3: I I've always valued caddies some guys, you know, everyone
- 28:35Speaker 3: wants something different. Some people want like some people want
- 28:37Speaker 3: like a psychologist kind of out there a friend out
- 28:39Speaker 3: there where they want somebody who's just really good at
- 28:41Speaker 3: like you know, getting waters, you know, just like a
- 28:44Speaker 3: almost like an assistant. Mine, I've been lucky. Mine is
- 28:48Speaker 3: one of my best friends. I've known him since I
- 28:50Speaker 3: was six. He was a great golfer. It still is
- 28:53Speaker 3: a good golfer, but he played pro golf for a
- 28:54Speaker 3: little bit back in the day. And uh so I
- 28:57Speaker 3: kind of get I'm lucky. I get I get a
- 28:59Speaker 3: really like really good caddies, great at all the strategy, all.
- 29:02Speaker 2: The picking what club to hit. He's great at all that.
- 29:06Speaker 3: But he's also like someone I enjoy walking around with
- 29:09Speaker 3: because we're we're together more than I'm with you know,
- 29:11Speaker 3: my wife really over the last like six years, we
- 29:15Speaker 3: spend so much time together.
- 29:17Speaker 2: So I need to like like that person because if.
- 29:19Speaker 3: I if I start to get resentful of being around
- 29:22Speaker 3: somebody that much, it would be hard to do my job.
- 29:25Speaker 3: But so I I kind of get like the full
- 29:29Speaker 3: the full package with mine. So it's like I said,
- 29:34Speaker 3: everyone's different. Like I had a caddy one time filling
- 29:37Speaker 3: for Joe. He was gone for a week, and every
- 29:39Speaker 3: time he gave me water, like he'd have like the
- 29:41Speaker 3: top almost off so I didn't.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Have to open the top. I'm like, nice, though, yeah,
- 29:45Speaker 2: but I'm like, I'm so good at that.
- 29:47Speaker 3: I can do that, you know, I don't need to
- 29:49Speaker 3: help with that. I need help, Like, is it seven
- 29:51Speaker 3: or eight iron?
- 29:52Speaker 4: I don't.
- 29:53Speaker 2: So it's just like everybody.
- 29:54Speaker 3: But clearly at some point somebody told him like that
- 29:57Speaker 3: was a thing, which is also sad and crazy to me.
- 30:00Speaker 3: But uh, I don't know some people. Everyone everyone's different,
- 30:03Speaker 3: I guess. But I like, I like having a friend
- 30:05Speaker 3: out there that like enjoy the winds together and then
- 30:08Speaker 3: the losses we can like discuss and and I have
- 30:11Speaker 3: a lot of faith and trust in what he'll suggest
- 30:14Speaker 3: that we should do better.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Have you ever blew a gasket on him?
- 30:17Speaker 5: Uh?
- 30:17Speaker 2: It's actually funny. He's yelled at me more than I've
- 30:19Speaker 2: yelled at him.
- 30:20Speaker 3: It's kind of my running running joke about how like
- 30:22Speaker 3: last year, last year, maybe it's two years ago at
- 30:26Speaker 3: Pebble Beach Sunday. I got off to a great start
- 30:30Speaker 3: and on the fifth hole, I hit in a bunker
- 30:33Speaker 3: and I had a fuck line and made double bogie.
- 30:34Speaker 3: And then the next hole, I hit in the bunker
- 30:36Speaker 3: and got a fuck lie and I hit a really
- 30:38Speaker 3: good shot and got a terrible bounce. I had like
- 30:40Speaker 3: twenty feet, and I like kind of bitched and moaned
- 30:43Speaker 3: about it. And that's why I like joke, because I
- 30:44Speaker 3: always tell myself if I'm being a bitch, you tell
- 30:46Speaker 3: me I'm being a bitch, and I'll stop. Like he's
- 30:48Speaker 3: older than me, like I was like, you know, you're
- 30:49Speaker 3: kind of big brother.
- 30:50Speaker 2: I'll listen to you.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Yeah, And and but I kind of like bitched and
- 30:53Speaker 3: moaned to him about like I was like, what a
- 30:55Speaker 3: fucking bounce, you know, like so fucking bad. And he
- 30:58Speaker 3: snapped on me and he goes, you know, I don't
- 31:00Speaker 3: even remember what he said.
- 31:01Speaker 2: He yelled at me, looked like Jesus Christ, like in
- 31:04Speaker 2: front of the people. Oh my good god. Yeah.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Basically he was like he's like quick complaining he had
- 31:10Speaker 3: a great fucking shot.
- 31:11Speaker 2: It's like not that big a deal whatever.
- 31:13Speaker 3: So I'm like okay, and I walked over and I
- 31:14Speaker 3: unfortunately I made the putt, which was like maybe part
- 31:17Speaker 3: of him just scaring the life out of me.
- 31:18Speaker 2: And he comes over to me like, this is why
- 31:19Speaker 2: I'm our relationship. I love it so much.
- 31:21Speaker 3: He comes over me and goes, dude, I'm so sorry, but
- 31:23Speaker 3: I want to rake that bunker on five.
- 31:24Speaker 2: My back went out and I'm like, I'm kind of
- 31:26Speaker 2: on tilt right now. I'm like Okay. He goes, I'm
- 31:29Speaker 2: really sorry about that.
- 31:29Speaker 3: But I've only really yeah, I've only really gotten mad
- 31:33Speaker 3: at him, like a couple of times. Uh so like
- 31:37Speaker 3: he I don't think I've ever yelled at him, but yeah,
- 31:40Speaker 3: it's it's fun when he is wrong. And there's been
- 31:43Speaker 3: a couple of times where like he catches, he catches
- 31:46Speaker 3: when I could. I know he's wrong and I go
- 31:47Speaker 3: to say something and he's like got his head downe
- 31:49Speaker 3: He's like, sorry, sorry, sorry, my bad, sorry, sorry sorry,
- 31:51Speaker 3: because he knows like I don't air him out.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Everyone's trying their best. It's impossible.
- 31:55Speaker 3: I mean, he's guessing what you know, educated guess and
- 31:58Speaker 3: what we should be doing. So when he's wrong, it's
- 32:00Speaker 3: not like I'm like whatever, But every once in a while.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Like one time, you know, I'm telling him it's six,
- 32:05Speaker 2: aren't it's five?
- 32:06Speaker 3: He says five and I'm saying six, and it's five
- 32:08Speaker 3: and I have five and it goes over the green.
- 32:11Speaker 2: It's fucked.
- 32:11Speaker 3: And like that's when I can at least at least
- 32:13Speaker 3: look at him and be like, you know, I was right,
- 32:17Speaker 3: And sometimes that's all I need.
- 32:19Speaker 2: But I don't yell.
- 32:21Speaker 3: You hear some guys blow up and there are some
- 32:22Speaker 3: funny fucking stories, but uh, man.
- 32:25Speaker 2: I just don't have that in me.
- 32:27Speaker 5: Where are you at in the argument of golf being
- 32:30Speaker 5: a sport or not?
- 32:33Speaker 3: Man, I'm like very middle Like, I don't it's active.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Uh it does warm my heart when like my friends
- 32:44Speaker 3: who are real athletes, like the no argument athlete, when
- 32:48Speaker 3: they go play golf and then they tell me next
- 32:50Speaker 3: day like their back hurts and their shoulders are hurting.
- 32:52Speaker 3: I'm like, see, shit's fucking, But yeah, it's it's probably not.
- 32:58Speaker 3: I think if we had to carry our own clubs,
- 32:59Speaker 3: I wouldnsider it a sport.
- 33:01Speaker 2: But it's just it's just it. Yeah, we're tiptoe on
- 33:05Speaker 2: the line.
- 33:05Speaker 3: We're we're definitely like people bat dog cheerleading and say
- 33:09Speaker 3: that's not a sport, and they did it way more
- 33:11Speaker 3: athletic than we are, so like they're not even if
- 33:14Speaker 3: they're not even getting approved, then like we shouldn't be
- 33:16Speaker 3: approved fully yet, but we're we're gaining on it, but
- 33:22Speaker 3: I wouldn't like you guys are, like there's a humongous
- 33:26Speaker 3: difference between like football and baseball and basketball and then
- 33:31Speaker 3: like golf.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Like this is noticeable.
- 33:33Speaker 3: Just the eye tests would tell you that, Like we're
- 33:35Speaker 3: not doing a whole lot, but it is active. It's
- 33:38Speaker 3: harder than you think. But yeah, it's definitely not not
- 33:42Speaker 3: rigging rigorous enough to consider like a full blown sport.
- 33:46Speaker 2: But we're in this sport family.
- 33:50Speaker 1: We're just the way you handled that, yeah, outrageous question
- 33:55Speaker 1: was extremely graceful, Like could have easily.
- 33:57Speaker 4: Taken get their fun or back there by piss right now.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I get it.
- 34:02Speaker 4: Man.
- 34:02Speaker 1: You heard a lot of bunch of scoffs in the
- 34:04Speaker 1: back when you said that, because they all were thinking
- 34:07Speaker 1: that it's not When did you decide like they're prove
- 34:10Speaker 1: when we were like this is this is for me,
- 34:12Speaker 1: That's what I'm gonna be fantastic.
- 34:14Speaker 3: In a real sports Uh So I played Uh you know,
- 34:17Speaker 3: like football, basketball, and golf. Those were like my three
- 34:21Speaker 3: like loves grown up receiver.
- 34:23Speaker 2: What's that?
- 34:23Speaker 4: Were you a slot receiver?
- 34:24Speaker 2: So I was gonna be the great white Hope. I
- 34:26Speaker 2: was a nasty corner. Oh yeah, it's.
- 34:29Speaker 1: A boy from Iowa out there trying to live the dream.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Right now.
- 34:31Speaker 4: You see that.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Unicorn, we have to protect it.
- 34:35Speaker 3: So uh but yeah, so I was like damn, uh
- 34:38Speaker 3: I was like eleven. So it's not like I thought
- 34:40Speaker 3: of that at all, but uh, I think who was
- 34:43Speaker 3: a seahorn back in the day. Yeah he was, So
- 34:46Speaker 3: I mimicked my game after him. But yeah I was.
- 34:50Speaker 3: I was all right, I I I'm fast, like that's
- 34:52Speaker 3: kind of my thing. Never was a big guy, but
- 34:54Speaker 3: I can. I can fly around a little bit. And uh,
- 34:57Speaker 3: I like saying that because you can't prove that I can.
- 35:00Speaker 2: So looks like you can.
- 35:01Speaker 4: Probably it looks like you can run around a little.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Bit though, Yeah, but you're never gonna see it.
- 35:06Speaker 1: When you're like at a Part five or something like that,
- 35:07Speaker 1: get a good sprint to your ball, kind of show
- 35:10Speaker 1: everybody what's what.
- 35:11Speaker 4: That would be funny if you like h.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Like yacks down there, dude, that would be awesome, that'd
- 35:19Speaker 1: be incredible.
- 35:21Speaker 3: It was like eleven and my dad kind of stutely said, hey, man,
- 35:25Speaker 3: if you want to be a professional athlete, like you
- 35:27Speaker 3: need to pick one, like this is your time, Like
- 35:29Speaker 3: you need to treat it like a job. And he goes,
- 35:32Speaker 3: I think you should only be doing one. And I
- 35:34Speaker 3: sat there and looked in the mirror and I'm like,
- 35:35Speaker 3: I'm five ft two, can't really jump. I think I'm fast,
- 35:41Speaker 3: but I've met a lot of guys faster, and I
- 35:43Speaker 3: was like, I think golf is the way to do it.
- 35:45Speaker 3: So it wasn't like I thought that I was baby
- 35:47Speaker 3: better at golf, but I felt like it might fit
- 35:49Speaker 3: me better.
- 35:50Speaker 2: It didn't get hit, nobody had to hit me. Uh
- 35:53Speaker 2: and yeah.
- 35:53Speaker 3: So then it was like from eleven on, I quit
- 35:55Speaker 3: everything else and started going the golf course six days
- 35:59Speaker 3: a week.
- 35:59Speaker 2: My parents drop me off and bang balls. I didn't
- 36:03Speaker 2: know I was gonna.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Make it, make it for a while, but I've always said, man,
- 36:06Speaker 3: for for anybody who's ever made it, and probably anything,
- 36:09Speaker 3: but especially sports, you need like the perfect amount of delusion,
- 36:13Speaker 3: because if when you tell a kid like I remember,
- 36:15Speaker 3: I had teachers be like, what do you want to
- 36:16Speaker 3: do when you grow up. My mom be on the
- 36:18Speaker 3: PJA tour and they'd be like, okay, but if that
- 36:19Speaker 3: doesn't work out, what are you gonna do? And I'm like,
- 36:21Speaker 3: why the fuck would that not work out? Like I
- 36:23Speaker 3: work at this as hard as you work at your job,
- 36:24Speaker 3: like it's gonna work. But like, looking back on it
- 36:27Speaker 3: now is like a thirty two year old dude. It's
- 36:29Speaker 3: like the fact that a kid I was just like, yeah,
- 36:31Speaker 3: of course I'm gonna make it. Here is like you
- 36:33Speaker 3: have to be a bit crazy, but like you have
- 36:36Speaker 3: to have enough of that realism and awareness to know that,
- 36:40Speaker 3: like it's gonna be really hard, but and you have
- 36:43Speaker 3: to change things, not like I'm just gonna wake up
- 36:45Speaker 3: and just make it.
- 36:47Speaker 2: But also you have to have enough delusion.
- 36:48Speaker 3: To a se anytime anybody everybody ever said hell man,
- 36:52Speaker 3: you know that's that's crazy, like you might need a
- 36:54Speaker 3: backup plan, I could look at you and be like, no,
- 36:56Speaker 3: like that's that's not how you make it.
- 36:58Speaker 2: You don't make it with the backup plan. So, uh,
- 37:00Speaker 2: it's kind of fun.
- 37:02Speaker 3: But I was thankful my dad did that when I
- 37:04Speaker 3: was young, because you do, in my opinion, need to
- 37:06Speaker 3: unless you're one of those freak, you know, bo Jackson
- 37:08Speaker 3: type people, like you need to focus on one thing
- 37:11Speaker 3: because there's so many people that are working at it
- 37:14Speaker 3: and that are great at it that like, you can't
- 37:16Speaker 3: be wasting time. I couldn't be wasting time trying to,
- 37:18Speaker 3: you know, figure out if I was going to blow
- 37:20Speaker 3: up the guy in the flat or not.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Like that's just that. Don't been wasting my time.
- 37:24Speaker 5: So you guys seem like you're more the the family style,
- 37:27Speaker 5: that is, pick do one sport when you're growing up.
- 37:30Speaker 2: I want, I want because.
- 37:31Speaker 4: I know you probably are aware of those arguments.
- 37:33Speaker 5: I like golf, it could be likef you might have
- 37:36Speaker 5: to put in that type of.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Golf one of those sports. And hockey is one of
- 37:38Speaker 1: those sports I gets. I grew over a thirteen in hockey.
- 37:40Speaker 1: You can't do anything else. You got to do that.
- 37:43Speaker 3: If I want my kid, If you decide to play sports,
- 37:45Speaker 3: I wanted to play all of them because I do
- 37:47Speaker 3: think it makes you a well rounded human. Like I
- 37:49Speaker 3: think that there are golfers who have grown up and
- 37:52Speaker 3: only played golf, and I think that they they only
- 37:54Speaker 3: play yeah, and I don't think that's a good thing
- 37:56Speaker 3: personality wise is great for their their their game, But
- 37:59Speaker 3: like I don't think, yeah, that's what it does feel
- 38:02Speaker 3: like that. It's like they take some of themselves very
- 38:04Speaker 3: seriously and it's like our biggest, most popular golf tournament.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Is just a party. That's Scottsdale.
- 38:12Speaker 3: So it's like we're not we're low on the totem pole,
- 38:14Speaker 3: we're growing. Tiger put us everybody on the map. He
- 38:17Speaker 3: changed the change the landscape of golf forever for all
- 38:19Speaker 3: the professionals. But at the end of the day, I
- 38:22Speaker 3: do think that it's important to play a lot of
- 38:24Speaker 3: sports just to get I also think it helps with
- 38:26Speaker 3: your hand to eye. I think all those things are
- 38:29Speaker 3: important to growth. But yeah, I mean, it's golf is different.
- 38:34Speaker 2: It is.
- 38:35Speaker 3: It will always be a slower, older, older person sport
- 38:38Speaker 3: just because it's not taxing on the body. It's the
- 38:40Speaker 3: thing that all you know, so many athletes and so
- 38:42Speaker 3: many super athletes decide to like play after because it's
- 38:45Speaker 3: you know, I was on a phone call with Larry
- 38:47Speaker 3: Fitzgerald yesterday and he is obsessed with golf.
- 38:49Speaker 2: You've never met so many more obsessed with golf. And
- 38:51Speaker 2: this dude is a.
- 38:52Speaker 3: No, no doubt or Hall of Famer probably. I mean,
- 38:56Speaker 3: he should be in the conversation for best of all time.
- 38:58Speaker 3: And this dude just like he's asking me questions about
- 39:01Speaker 3: how do I get better at golf? Because that's the
- 39:03Speaker 3: thing is. It doesn't beat him up anymore. It's a passion.
- 39:06Speaker 3: It is hard. But I think that his personality and
- 39:09Speaker 3: his outlook towards the game is benefited from the fact
- 39:12Speaker 3: that he played other things growing up. And I think
- 39:14Speaker 3: that's why people love Larry and golf now because he
- 39:17Speaker 3: doesn't take himself seriously because he's humbled by the game
- 39:19Speaker 3: of golf. But we all also respect him because he's
- 39:22Speaker 3: a legitimate freak of nature.
- 39:25Speaker 1: When you keep saying that golf is always gonna be
- 39:27Speaker 1: an older man sport, how do you like, in what
- 39:32Speaker 1: ways can we make the younger generation appreciate golf more? So,
- 39:35Speaker 1: I'll give you, Like, for example, like when I'm in
- 39:37Speaker 1: high school, me and all my buddies never thought about
- 39:39Speaker 1: golf at all. Soon does everyone graduated college All of
- 39:42Speaker 1: a sudden, all my boys are picking up clubs and
- 39:44Speaker 1: doing whatever, and like, this is great for business, this
- 39:46Speaker 1: is great for that. Like, how do you start leaking
- 39:48Speaker 1: into the high school like that. You know, the younger
- 39:52Speaker 1: age is that they start picking up the clubs more.
- 39:54Speaker 3: So it needs to be more accessible. So golf course
- 39:56Speaker 3: I grew up on is parse sixty one. So most
- 39:58Speaker 3: golf course par seventy two. Public golf course had a
- 40:00Speaker 3: Part three course, nine holes, the longest holes one hundred
- 40:03Speaker 3: and fifty yards, and it was owned by a company
- 40:05Speaker 3: called American Golf. And they had a deal at least
- 40:08Speaker 3: in all the ones that they owned around where I
- 40:11Speaker 3: grew up that you know, if you were under like
- 40:15Speaker 3: twelve eleven or somewhere like that, you could play the
- 40:18Speaker 3: Part three course for one dollar all day and then
- 40:21Speaker 3: you've played the big one for like sixteen dollars. And
- 40:26Speaker 3: as golf is boomed because of the pandemic golf blew
- 40:29Speaker 3: up across the country, golf course are getting more expensive.
- 40:32Speaker 3: And that's okay, it's a business, but like let the
- 40:35Speaker 3: kids play, like get them out there, get them out playing,
- 40:38Speaker 3: get them out. The deals on hitting balls like bang
- 40:40Speaker 3: the balls is let's just say it's eight dollars a bucket,
- 40:42Speaker 3: make it three so that they don't have to go
- 40:44Speaker 3: beg their parents for twenty dollars and you know, like
- 40:47Speaker 3: make them feel like it's it's okay.
- 40:48Speaker 2: And also it will I don't.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Know if this one will ever change, but the adults
- 40:53Speaker 3: need to get that are at the golf course need
- 40:55Speaker 3: to clean up their act and stop kind of ho humming.
- 40:59Speaker 3: Oh man, I'm with a kid today. It's like my
- 41:01Speaker 3: dad would always say that, and he liked it because
- 41:03Speaker 3: I was, you know, a good player as a young
- 41:05Speaker 3: young kid. But he would say, you know, we get
- 41:07Speaker 3: paired with another another two dudes that who obviously don't
- 41:10Speaker 3: know us, strangers, and he would he'd say he always
- 41:12Speaker 3: loved it because they'd roll their eyes to their friend, like,
- 41:14Speaker 3: oh god, we got to play with this kid today.
- 41:15Speaker 3: And my dad would make me play fast, like if
- 41:17Speaker 3: I if it took me too long to get off
- 41:18Speaker 3: the box, he would just have me play up where
- 41:20Speaker 3: his drive was.
- 41:21Speaker 2: But like by the end of the day, these guys like,
- 41:22Speaker 2: oh my god, this kid's so good.
- 41:24Speaker 3: But it's like, don't you like judged me before you
- 41:26Speaker 3: Like the point is to get in, like get people
- 41:28Speaker 3: into this game so that the pros are doing I
- 41:32Speaker 3: think a good job I have, like I know, Patrick
- 41:34Speaker 3: Can'tley hosts three golf tournaments on the court on the tournaments.
- 41:38Speaker 3: We grew up playing in Southern California in the SCPGA
- 41:42Speaker 3: Southern California Professional Golf Association, So then I'm doing my
- 41:45Speaker 3: first one in two weeks, and I think that helps
- 41:47Speaker 3: a little bit, kind of giving kids that look up
- 41:50Speaker 3: to you know, maybe you know, even if they aren't
- 41:52Speaker 3: into golf, but they have to watch it because their
- 41:53Speaker 3: dad makes them here and there, and they say, hey,
- 41:55Speaker 3: you know so and so is hosting a golf tournament.
- 41:58Speaker 2: I want to play in that one day. Maybe that
- 42:00Speaker 2: could be an avenue.
- 42:00Speaker 3: But I just think accessibility and these adults need to chill.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Like if a.
- 42:05Speaker 3: Kid's being loud at the golf course, you don't need
- 42:07Speaker 3: to reprimand them, like go just say, hey, you know,
- 42:09Speaker 3: we're a little quieter here to respect thing, but like,
- 42:13Speaker 3: don't make it where I have to walk on eggshells
- 42:15Speaker 3: because I felt like that as a kid a lot.
- 42:17Speaker 3: And unfortunately my dad didn't make me double down and
- 42:20Speaker 3: feel that. He's like, hey, you know, kind of like
- 42:22Speaker 3: screw them, do your thing, but be respectful.
- 42:24Speaker 2: But he said it in a nicer way.
- 42:25Speaker 3: But there's just like this stuff, it can be stuffy,
- 42:29Speaker 3: and that just turns kids off. The kid's attention spans
- 42:32Speaker 3: are doore. That's why football so like it's like America's
- 42:36Speaker 3: sport and it's so fun to watch because it's like quick,
- 42:39Speaker 3: quick hitting highlights like highlights in golf.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Like you, they're slow and they're not as riveting.
- 42:44Speaker 3: But if you ever played the game, you'd be like, fuck,
- 42:47Speaker 3: that's amazing, you know.
- 42:48Speaker 2: But it's just like it's it's not.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Like right off the top of your head that it
- 42:52Speaker 3: would be like so clearly fun. So I hope that
- 42:55Speaker 3: I hope that as things go on, like kids will
- 42:57Speaker 3: start to feel more welcome to come out.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Course, because I tell I tell all the people who are.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Just even my friends, as you reference, they get out
- 43:04Speaker 3: of college and like, man, I want to play golf.
- 43:06Speaker 3: I don't embarrass myself. I'm like, I'm like, who are
- 43:09Speaker 3: you worried is going to embarrass you? And they'll be like, oh,
- 43:11Speaker 3: you know there's this guy that was playing the other day.
- 43:13Speaker 3: I said, well just picture this. If I come out,
- 43:15Speaker 3: I'll beat the shit out of that guy at golf.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Like he'd be embarrassed to play with me.
- 43:18Speaker 3: And I don't give a shit, So like you go play,
- 43:21Speaker 3: just go have fun, do your thing. Don't like that's
- 43:23Speaker 3: the problem. There's like this weird there's a weird thing
- 43:26Speaker 3: in golf that I'm hoping slowly gets gets torn down
- 43:29Speaker 3: a bit.
- 43:30Speaker 1: But is that a weird thing you're kind of implying,
- 43:32Speaker 1: Is that they get up at the vibe?
- 43:33Speaker 2: I think it is. But I just think, like, okay, so.
- 43:37Speaker 3: If I go play, if I went and played football
- 43:39Speaker 3: with you guys, obviously I would look like an actual
- 43:41Speaker 3: like a draft, like a baby's giraffe out there, like
- 43:43Speaker 3: I wouldn't know what to do. I baby catch a few,
- 43:46Speaker 3: I'd maybe trip a few times. I'd look like an idiot.
- 43:48Speaker 3: But I feel like the nature of that sport, like
- 43:52Speaker 3: the intuition isn't just to immediately like make fun of
- 43:56Speaker 3: that person. It's like, you know, it's just like, oh,
- 43:58Speaker 3: it's fun. It's a backyard game, you know. But golf
- 44:00Speaker 3: doesn't feel like a backyard game at least and how
- 44:03Speaker 3: it was made it was a gentleman's Sport's a gentleman's game,
- 44:06Speaker 3: but it's like it is it should be a kid's game. Shit,
- 44:09Speaker 3: We're whacking a fucking golf ball through the air and
- 44:12Speaker 3: everyone sucks at it.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Like I suck at it sometimes, like it's so hard.
- 44:16Speaker 3: So I just think that there is an uppitting this
- 44:18Speaker 3: to it, that like as you get better and you
- 44:21Speaker 3: have to pay to play. So I guess maybe part
- 44:23Speaker 3: of is kind of like going back to the public
- 44:25Speaker 3: transportation the sky thing. Oh I'm paying three hundred dollars
- 44:28Speaker 3: for a flight. I don't want this baby crying behind me.
- 44:30Speaker 3: It's like, well, tough shit. Like there's a kid out
- 44:32Speaker 3: here gonna learn and he just wants to get better
- 44:35Speaker 3: at the same game you want to get better at.
- 44:36Speaker 3: Like let him like, let him have a chance, let
- 44:38Speaker 3: her have a chance, and like just see what happens
- 44:41Speaker 3: and make it fun and make it enjoyable. There's something
- 44:43Speaker 3: weird about Maybe it's just the price point of it
- 44:45Speaker 3: that I think people feel entitled to, Like this is
- 44:48Speaker 3: my day and I want it to go exactly how
- 44:50Speaker 3: I think it should go, and it just drives me nuts.
- 44:52Speaker 2: I'm glad I.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Grew up at the golf course I grew up at
- 44:55Speaker 3: because it was not like that nearly as much. It
- 44:58Speaker 3: was a men's club. All the boys have beers. I
- 45:01Speaker 3: would sit there and wait for my dad to finish.
- 45:03Speaker 3: I'd hit balls get a soda and we would go
- 45:06Speaker 3: home and it was very like everyone can play. No
- 45:08Speaker 3: one's getting strokes, go prove yourself, and that's how you
- 45:11Speaker 3: grow up and learn. But golf in general just doesn't
- 45:14Speaker 3: seem like it's gotten over that hump fully yet, but
- 45:17Speaker 3: I think it will. I think Tiger made an enormous
- 45:19Speaker 3: impact on that because he made kids feel cool to
- 45:22Speaker 3: play golf, at least for me. When someone's like, oh,
- 45:23Speaker 3: you play golf as dorky, I'm like, go watch this
- 45:25Speaker 3: fucking guy play golf because it is not dorky is
- 45:28Speaker 3: it's exciting and it's cool.
- 45:30Speaker 5: I think what Netflix is doing too with that, Yeah,
- 45:33Speaker 5: like the Formula one, yeah, formula, but them doing it
- 45:36Speaker 5: with the golf and everything else. I think that's going
- 45:38Speaker 5: also for you, like giving you your flowers. To me,
- 45:41Speaker 5: it's like the way you are your personality on social media,
- 45:44Speaker 5: you do make it seem like you have an edginess,
- 45:47Speaker 5: a looseness about you to where you make the golfing
- 45:49Speaker 5: fun like good day, bad day. You're still gonna whether
- 45:53Speaker 5: it's you need to show up on social media or not,
- 45:55Speaker 5: like you make it seem like, oh, he's doesn't take
- 46:00Speaker 5: it so serious, even though you are a pro at
- 46:02Speaker 5: your craft. Clearly, if anybody's listening to this, it seems
- 46:04Speaker 5: like you've been all in on this thing for a while.
- 46:06Speaker 5: But I like admire from Afar your ability to play
- 46:10Speaker 5: good or play bad and talk about it in a
- 46:13Speaker 5: way that's like relatable to people.
- 46:15Speaker 2: I feel like people thank you.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess, I guess i'd put it as I don't.
- 46:20Speaker 3: I take what I do very serious. I don't take
- 46:22Speaker 3: myself very serious. And I hope that kids and fans
- 46:25Speaker 3: of golf grasp that like concept, because like, I want
- 46:31Speaker 3: to be everybody every time I play, but I also
- 46:34Speaker 3: know that if I don't, it's not everyone's problem that
- 46:37Speaker 3: I didn't. Yeah, man, mine, And like I said, I
- 46:40Speaker 3: want golf to flourish. And I love this game and
- 46:43Speaker 3: it is it has a lot of benefits to it
- 46:46Speaker 3: for you know, business and honestly just joy. And so
- 46:49Speaker 3: it's like at some point, uh, it's it's fun and
- 46:53Speaker 3: we're playing golf in a field. Man, It's it's awesome.
- 46:57Speaker 3: But there's just little little wall we got to knock down.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Netflix. That's a great point.
- 47:01Speaker 3: They'll do a great job of showcasing, at least for
- 47:04Speaker 3: kids to be able to see a real TV show, Like,
- 47:08Speaker 3: oh shit, maybe I want to try that, right and
- 47:10Speaker 3: like then get out and do it because it is
- 47:11Speaker 3: weird man like every like you said every single one
- 47:14Speaker 3: of my friends right after college like fuck man, like
- 47:16Speaker 3: I want to learn how to play golf?
- 47:17Speaker 2: Whoul I do?
- 47:17Speaker 3: And I'm like, god, dang, I wish you would have
- 47:19Speaker 3: said this we're fifteen, because I would have a lot
- 47:21Speaker 3: more friends.
- 47:24Speaker 1: I know it's it's ten twenty right now. We know
- 47:26Speaker 1: you got to go. But the last thing we'll ask
- 47:28Speaker 1: is you seem like your mindset is just like really
- 47:32Speaker 1: just well done. Like you seem like you've really put
- 47:34Speaker 1: things into perspective, understanding that just because I lost doesn't
- 47:37Speaker 1: mean it's everybody else's issue enjoying whether you win or
- 47:40Speaker 1: lose in the way you projected to everybody else. Like
- 47:42Speaker 1: how is that? Like, is your mindset always been that
- 47:46Speaker 1: way or did you have to navigate through the ups
- 47:48Speaker 1: and downs of golf to really fine the calm that
- 47:50Speaker 1: you're dealing with right now?
- 47:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean even the like it goes ebbs and flows.
- 47:53Speaker 3: I some days, I'm I can act like an asshole.
- 47:56Speaker 3: I try to keep it to myself, but like if
- 47:57Speaker 3: you're you know, you know, Joe, my wife Lacy, like
- 48:01Speaker 3: they would know when I'm being kind of a dick
- 48:03Speaker 3: about it. But I guess a lesson I learned, Like
- 48:08Speaker 3: I've always thought of myself as a respectful person. And
- 48:11Speaker 3: I remember I had a really bad attitude for a while,
- 48:14Speaker 3: like through college, and I can't remember if exactly what happened,
- 48:18Speaker 3: but it was one day where I think someone like
- 48:20Speaker 3: almost pointed out to me, like when if there's two
- 48:22Speaker 3: other people at least playing with us every day and
- 48:25Speaker 3: if I'm being an asshole out there, that person has
- 48:27Speaker 3: to deal with me and I'm ruining their day. And
- 48:29Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, that's not what I mean to do,
- 48:31Speaker 3: Like I'm just trying to ruin my own day.
- 48:33Speaker 1: Shit.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Yeah, So like I guess that's kind of when I
- 48:35Speaker 3: also have a bad attitude in my own head now,
- 48:37Speaker 3: but I try my best. Like some people will be like,
- 48:39Speaker 3: oh man, you're so calm and your attitude so good,
- 48:41Speaker 3: and it's like some days it's not very good. I
- 48:43Speaker 3: just don't want people to see that anymore because it's
- 48:45Speaker 3: embarrassing and it's and it's rude, Like it's rude to
- 48:48Speaker 3: the other guys out there that I play against who
- 48:51Speaker 3: are also trying to do the same shit I am
- 48:53Speaker 3: if they got to deal with some little sour puss,
- 48:55Speaker 3: you know, stomping their feet and stuff.
- 48:58Speaker 2: But no, it's it's everything that I've been. I've been flow.
- 49:00Speaker 3: But I think as I've gotten older, I've just realized
- 49:04Speaker 3: that you're gonna have good weeks, You're gonna have bad weeks,
- 49:06Speaker 3: and at the end of the day, you know, the
- 49:08Speaker 3: journey is is that that's that's the fun part. The
- 49:13Speaker 3: winds come, the winds go, things things, You have bad weeks,
- 49:18Speaker 3: you know where it feels like the end of the world,
- 49:20Speaker 3: But like the fun part is just getting facing that forever.
- 49:24Speaker 3: And I think as I've gotten older and appreciated that,
- 49:26Speaker 3: I've appreciated some of the bad days more because it's like,
- 49:28Speaker 3: all right, this is the day I'm gonna learn. When
- 49:30Speaker 3: you win, you learn a little bit, but you when
- 49:33Speaker 3: you fail, you learn quite a bit. And before I
- 49:35Speaker 3: would kind of back myself away from that and be like, God,
- 49:38Speaker 3: sucks doing this, But knowing that you're not gonna win
- 49:41Speaker 3: every golf tournament, it's kind of you can appreciate the
- 49:44Speaker 3: weeks where you have to grind and and dig it
- 49:46Speaker 3: out a little bit and turn you know nothing into
- 49:48Speaker 3: something so but it's it's all been a learning curve.
- 49:51Speaker 3: I mean, if you ask my friends when I was
- 49:53Speaker 3: sixteen to twenty, they probably thought it was the biggest
- 49:56Speaker 3: tool bag in the world playing golf. But I've been
- 49:58Speaker 3: trying to get a better hit that.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Brother, it's been an absolute pleasure having you on this show,
- 50:02Speaker 1: and you guys are the best.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Yeah, man, it's been fun watching social media. For those
- 50:07Speaker 1: of you subscribe, unsubscribe, resubscribe. Our favorite golfer of all time,
- 50:11Speaker 1: Max Homa. We're rooting for him this week at the
- 50:14Speaker 1: Waste Management Buddy, Hope you take home that trophy.
