- 0:05For thirteen years I have been working for private security, working in different places
- 0:10such as wineries, shops and more today I am a security guard in a
- 0:17building owned by a bank in Mexico City. I have been working here for
- 0:22about five years and before joining this position, I had to take care of
- 0:28a property in Iztapaluca. It was a considerable land with an area of approximately
- 0:34twenty zero square meters. When I started working there, I' d been
- 0:41out of use for about three years. This land is owned by a very
- 0:45famous person, a woman who starred in several television novels throughout the 1990s.
- 0:53Between the end of nine hundred and ninety- nine and the beginning of the
- 0:57year two thousand, this famous woman acquired the property and decided to build a
- 1:02small house in it. However, he never inhabited it, as it suddenly
- 1:06disappeared from television for about ten years. Instead, he decided to rent the
- 1:14property to a company originally from San Luis Potosí dedicated to the manufacture and distribution
- 1:19of plaster. For several years, the company occupied the land, but eventually
- 1:26stopped renting it leaving it unoccupied. From then on there were only two guards
- 1:33in charge of his care, working in twenty- four hour shifts each.
- 1:38For those who don' t know. When you work in twenty- four
- 1:42- hour shifts, you rest one week for three days and the next week
- 1:48for four days. This is due to a cycle of work in which you
- 1:52enter on Mondays, you rest on Tuesdays, you return to work, on
- 1:57Wednesdays, you rest on Thursday, you work again on Fridays, you rest
- 2:01on Saturday and you return to work on Sunday. So, in the next
- 2:06week, you rest the days you worked the previous week and work the days
- 2:09you rested on, alternating like this every week. Anyway, when one of
- 2:17the two guards no longer wanted to continue, I had the opportunity to be
- 2:23hired to take his place. That was the first time I had to take
- 2:28a twenty- four- hour shift. But despite how intimidating it may sound
- 2:31to have to work 24 hours in a row, the reality was that it
- 2:37wasn' t such a strenuous job. The land on which he worked was
- 2:43in complete disuse. Fortunately, the owner had never occupied him personally, so
- 2:50there were no personal belongings scattered around the place. At a previous time,
- 2:55when the gypsum manufacturing and distribution company rents the land, they demolished the house
- 3:00that had been built to accommodate their needs. When they finally decided not to
- 3:08renew the lease, they took all their belongings with them. Being in an
- 3:14environment where there were no occupants or significant activity made the work more bearable every
- 3:21three hours. He made a thorough tour of all the land, making sure
- 3:27to cover every corner of the property. And that was it. However,
- 3:31to avoid boredom. During the day, I sought to occupy my time in
- 3:37small tasks, such as picking up the falling leaves from the trees or anything
- 3:42else tiny. During the nights I was allowed to take two short strategic naps
- 3:47to regain energy. The first one took place after the eleven o' clock
- 3:53tour, while the second one took place after the two o' clock tour
- 3:57in the morning. These breaks helped me to keep me alert and in full
- 4:01condition throughout the night. However, it was during the course of my third
- 4:09month at work that something unexpected happened. It was early in the morning,
- 4:15about 5 a m as I was making my routine tour, I arrived at
- 4:20the area where the plasterstone crusher used to be located. At that very moment
- 4:26of anger I could perceive the movement of a person crossing on foot in the
- 4:30direction of a few quarters on my left. Those rooms were the ones used
- 4:36by the workers of the company of Yeso when they finished preparing a few hours
- 4:41of the night in which they were no longer able to transport to go home
- 4:46quickly I focused my flashlight towards that direction, but I no longer saw anyone
- 4:53cautiously. I went into the area while considering the possibility of meeting a homeless
- 4:59person or something an addict who tried to spend the night inside the property.
- 5:03It wasn' t the first time I had to have those people jump over
- 5:08the fence or the mesh to want to spend the night inside the property,
- 5:12but, as much as I looked in every room, I didn' t
- 5:15find anyone. The rooms were empty without any indication that anyone had been there.
- 5:21Recently, at eight in the morning, when the other guard came to
- 5:27relieve me, I told him what happened, that I had spotted someone inside
- 5:30the property, but I couldn' t find that person. The other guard,
- 5:36who had worked there during the time the plaster company occupied the land,
- 5:41replied that it was probably Rufino, a man I found unknown. Then he
- 5:48told me about that pimp. It turns out that about a year before the
- 5:54plaster company stopped operating, an incident occurred with rufino According to me, the
- 6:00other rufino guard was one of the workers and, unfortunately, came to his
- 6:05turn under the effects of alcohol. Despite his condition, the company could not
- 6:12afford to send him back because of the lack of staff at the time,
- 6:15so they allowed him to enter work. He was carrying out his usual tasks
- 6:23when suddenly, a feeling of dizziness unbalanced him and ended up falling into the
- 6:30channels used for transporting the plasterstone. Given his state of intoxication, he found
- 6:36it impossible to get out of those canals and the plaster stones dragged him to
- 6:43the shredder, where he was cut to pieces. The tragedy was aggravated by
- 6:47the fact that his body could not be recovered, because, after passing through
- 6:51the shredder, the channels continued their journey until reaching the furnace, where the
- 6:57plaster was subjected to a decidration process. As a result, rufine remained but
- 7:03ashes and some scattered bone fragments. From that fateful day on, stories and
- 7:11rumors began to emerge about ruffino sightings on the ground, as was said from
- 7:17time to time his spirit manifested itself in search of his lost body. However,
- 7:24due to his state of intoxication, at the time of his death,
- 7:28he did not remember exactly where he had lost his life and for this reason
- 7:32it was said that his presence could be detected in different areas of property.
- 7:38The story I heard left me with an uncomfortable feeling, especially the creepy way
- 7:44that man lost his life. Imagine the experience of being crushed into pieces by
- 7:50a machine was enough to generate in me a very uncomfortable feeling. From the
- 7:57next shift, something changed in my field experience. I don' t know
- 8:03if it was the product of my own suggestion or if there was a real
- 8:07basis behind it, but I can almost say for sure that every time I
- 8:11passed through the area where the channels used to transport the plaster stones during my
- 8:18rondines, both day and night, I seemed to hear faint whispers that seemed
- 8:24to emerge from those channels. The coincidence of the whispers that I began to
- 8:28hear after learning of the tragedy did not go unnoticed. For me, before
- 8:33I knew the story, I had not experienced any unusual sound on the ground.
- 8:39However, once the other guard shared the details of what happened with that
- 8:43worker, the slight whispers became present and I decided to downplay them, convincing
- 8:50me that they were mere illusions created by my mind. However, one morning
- 8:56in particular, while I was being found resting in the booth, after completing
- 9:01the two o' clock journey in the morning, I was awakened by an
- 9:05unknown sound. It was a noise I had never heard before, either on
- 9:11that property or on any other I had worked on. The resounding roar filled
- 9:16the air, a deep and grave roar that seemed to emanate from everywhere.
- 9:22At the same time. It was an unusual sound unlike anyone else I'
- 9:26d heard before. It resembled a strong snoring, but with a powerful and
- 9:31persistent echo. Accompanying this roar, there was a constant buzz and the characteristic
- 9:39squeaking of the oil. Jumping into a hot frying pan I quickly left to
- 9:46investigate the origin of that rumble, I made an accelerated tour of the terrain,
- 9:52focused on following the noise that persisted for approximately seven minutes. However,
- 9:56as much as I searched, I could not find the source of that disconcerting
- 10:01sound. There was no way that the sound came from the outside one realizes
- 10:07easily when something sounds from within the same terrain. When the other guard arrived
- 10:13at eight in the morning, I could not contain myself and shared my experience
- 10:18with him about the strange noise I had heard without taking a second to think
- 10:24he replied yes, that was the furnace where the plaster was dehydrated I did
- 10:30not understand what it meant, because, as I had previously mentioned to them,
- 10:35the company had taken everything with it. Faced with my confusion, the
- 10:39guard proceeded to explain to me that, for some reason that he could not
- 10:43fully understand, sometimes the ignition of the furnace could be heard. According to
- 10:48their beliefs. This was happening as if it were a kind of call,
- 10:52a way in which the essence of the remains of the deceased worker tried to
- 10:58attract his spirit so that they could find. I understand very well how strange
- 11:03such an assertion may sound, but to the companion it was an explanation that
- 11:07seemed to fit with the other phenomena that occurred on the property. For about
- 11:13two months small incidents continued to occur, the whispers in the canals persisted,
- 11:22and occasionally in anger he thought he saw the missing worker. However, the
- 11:26noise from the oven was never repeated. One day in particular was recorded in
- 11:31my memory, on August 7. I remember it well because it was my
- 11:37birthday and unfortunately I had to work that night. While I was on my
- 11:43usual tour at 2 a m, I was walking around the place where the
- 11:48shredder used to be located. Suddenly, a heartbreaking scream echoed in the air
- 11:52and was a cry full of pain and despair. That scream was so sudden
- 12:00and above all, so unexpected that I threw the flashlight out of the scare.
- 12:03The good thing was that he didn' t break the blow, because
- 12:07if that had happened, he wouldn' t have been able to find the
- 12:11flashlight. Until the sun came up, the flashlight fell a little far.
- 12:15I had to walk about 50 yards to grab her. The moment I crouched
- 12:20down to take the flashlight down the corner of my eye, I noticed that
- 12:24the phantom of the worker was standing on my right looking at me as I
- 12:30joined and directed the light of the flashlight towards him, disappeared without a trace.
- 12:33Just like every time, as the days passed, the scares became more
- 12:39frequent, but fortunately, the ghost never tried to hurt me. He was
- 12:46just watching me and from time to time I got used to his presence because
- 12:52that ghost was really harmless. After about seven months, one day I arrived
- 12:56at eight in the morning to relieve my shop and found him with blows to
- 13:01his body. Fortunately, they were not serious wounds, only some bruises that
- 13:07caused him discomfort, but did not bleed. My colleague explained to me that
- 13:11during the early hours of the morning he discovered the presence of a group of
- 13:16people who had entered the property and, without hesitation, approached them with the
- 13:20intention of expelling them. But as soon as he realized that there were several
- 13:26of them, including an older gentleman and a child, he took the easy
- 13:31way and simply asked them to, in favor, leave the land because it
- 13:35was private property. The subjects refused and told the companion that they were only
- 13:39there to make a burial. My partner insisted that they could not stay in
- 13:46the place and much less carry out an action like the one they were saying
- 13:48they wanted to do. However, one of the individuals refused to listen and
- 13:54claimed that they would soon bury the child and the older man. The comrade
- 14:01tried to persuade the intruders to leave the ground peacefully, but he was beaten
- 14:05and left on the ground. Already lying down. They told him that if
- 14:11he didn' t leave them alone, they' d bury him too,
- 14:15so he didn' t intervene anymore. He just lay down because if he
- 14:18got hit hard, he told me that he saw how those guys hurt the
- 14:24lord and the boy. Then they dug a hole near the old rooms and
- 14:28buried them there. Before they broke it, they threatened that if he said
- 14:33anything, they' d come back for him. We also went to show
- 14:35me where they had done the burial and stayed thinking about what we should do.
- 14:41The idea of removing the bodies of the deceased was quickly discarded, as
- 14:46it would involve engaging in an illegal act and we could face serious consequences.
- 14:52Besides, no one would believe us that someone had stepped into the ground to
- 14:56bury them in there either we couldn' t just leave the job. Then
- 15:03the partner told me that he could get a gun, that he would take
- 15:07it in two days, that he had to go back to work and we
- 15:11would always have it in the booth for anything, and so we did to
- 15:15him. When I finished my twenty- four hour shift and he came back
- 15:20with the gun and some bullets, we kept it in a drawer inside the
- 15:24booth and that was our life insurance. Despite having it as a security measure,
- 15:28we knew that it was essential to avoid unnecessary confrontation and to focus on
- 15:35safeguarding our integrity. I began to avoid the piece of land where the two
- 15:41bodies were buried during my journeys, both in the day and during the night,
- 15:48because I feared that at any time, the situation presented with the worker
- 15:52who died in the shredder would be repeated with the deceased new ones that we
- 15:56had on the ground at ten days while I was making the rumdin of two
- 16:02in the morning, while I was walking where I had been located the warehouse
- 16:07in which the bags of plaster were stored I found traces as of mud.
- 16:11The mud tracks found on the site aroused my concern, especially considering that there
- 16:18were no recent rains that could have muddled on the ground the footprints looked fresh
- 16:22Then, instead of thinking about a logical explanation of why those footprints were there,
- 16:29what I did was assume that someone had stepped in and went quickly to
- 16:33the booth for the gun. Already with her in hand, I returned to
- 16:38the area and began to follow the tracks, which, by the way,
- 16:42seemed to be heading towards the area where the two bodies were buried, but
- 16:48did not reach there. Halfway through, they went off and headed towards the
- 16:51old rooms. It is important to mention that, for some reason I do
- 16:57not know, that area is all full of weed. There' s a
- 17:00lot of takeout and trees. Even some trunks grew inside the rooms, breaking
- 17:06the roof and cracking the walls. So, as soon as I got to
- 17:11the area where the weeds started, the footprints were lost, because there the
- 17:15earth floor was totally covered by the hundreds of leaves falling from so many trees.
- 17:22In order to facilitate our journeys and avoid any danger associated with weeds,
- 17:26we had opened a way, helping us with a machete. That path allowed
- 17:33us to walk through the areas without having to walk directly on the weeds,
- 17:38thus minimizing the risk of stings, spiders or snake bites. I turned around
- 17:45to get in the road and get into that area. But as much as
- 17:48I examined my surroundings in all directions, I found no one and even checked
- 17:53into the old rooms, but there was no sign of anyone getting in there.
- 18:00That experience reminded me of the first time the ghost of the deceased worker
- 18:04appeared to me, which aroused in me the suspicion that perhaps a new spirit
- 18:08had emerged on the ground. Throughout that year I found myself with the same
- 18:15footprints in different places. It was evident that these were the same prints because
- 18:22of the pattern and type of footwear that left them. I think I ran
- 18:26into them about eight or nine times during that period. However, the other
- 18:30guard never noticed them once. It seemed to be a whim of the deceased,
- 18:37I suppose, but something changed in relation to the footprints, as not
- 18:41only the same ones that I had seen before appeared, but also smaller footprints,
- 18:47such as those of a child, joined them. The first time I
- 18:51met the usual footprints along with the new small footprints, it was in the
- 18:56area where the winery was once located and on a road that seemed to head
- 19:02towards the piece of land, where the two bodies had been buried. However,
- 19:07before they got there, the tracks turned and went into the weeds,
- 19:11heading towards the abandoned rooms. It was more than obvious that no living child
- 19:18had entered the field immediately. I knew it was about the spirits of that
- 19:25older man and the child manifesting themselves through these tracks. All I expected was
- 19:30for those two ghosts to be just as harmless as the worker' s ghost,
- 19:37because if they started doing things that were scary. The truth is,
- 19:41I was thinking about quitting work because it was one thing to deal with a
- 19:45ghost and a few prints, but having to be living with three ghosts,
- 19:51that' s if I was already strong. After the traces of the child
- 19:53appeared, the other guard witnessed the appearance of the spirits of both the older
- 19:59man and the little one during his shift. This experience deeply affected him,
- 20:04as he had witnessed how those people were killed without him being able to do
- 20:08anything to help them. In fact, when I got to relieve him at
- 20:15eight, I found him almost shaking. Before she left, she told me
- 20:18she was going to talk to our supervisor to tell her she was leaving the
- 20:22job. That supervisor was a worker of a son or daughter of the famous
- 20:27woman' s mistress and we never saw her in person. The deal with
- 20:32the supervisor was always on call. At first I thought that as for the
- 20:37partner, the scare would change his mind, but not when he came back
- 20:42to relieve me. She told me that she had already talked to the supervisor
- 20:48to tell her that she wanted to get out and she asked her to give
- 20:51her a chance for a few days in what she could get someone. Out
- 20:53of curiosity, I asked the partner what he had given the supervisor to justify
- 20:59that he no longer wanted to work there. The partner told me that he
- 21:06told him the truth that he saw two ghosts and that they scared him.
- 21:11The companion agreed to wait a few more days, although his decision to leave
- 21:15the job was firm. During that time, I noticed that his attitude became
- 21:21more nervous and anxious as if he were constantly concerned about something. The following
- 21:26week I received a call from the supervisor and wanted to know how I was
- 21:33feeling and if I had experienced any fear during the night. I assured him
- 21:37that I had no mishap at the time. The supervisor informed me that I
- 21:42would send two people on my next shift for training. I asked the supervisor
- 21:48why we needed two people, and she explained to me that she preferred to
- 21:53have a backup in case the new employee was also scared and needed to be
- 21:59replaced. When I got to relieve the partner on my next shift, the
- 22:04two young men were already there to spend the next twenty- four hours on
- 22:10the property. I decided to start taking them on a tour of the place
- 22:15so they could get acquainted with him. We started our tour from the center
- 22:19of the land, where were the old canals used to transport the plaster stone
- 22:26I took the opportunity to share with them. What happened to the deceased worker,
- 22:33not to mention at any time the existence of his ghost. We followed
- 22:37the canals as far as the shredder used to be and continued until we reached
- 22:42the south side of the property. That was where the oven where the already
- 22:47crushed plaster stone was dehydrated had previously been mounted. From there we walked towards
- 22:52the northwest corner, where there were still some blocks pulled from what had been
- 22:59the walls of the winery. We followed down and passed through all the old
- 23:03rooms until we reached what used to be the offices. Finally we returned to
- 23:11the booth so that I could explain to them about the tools and objects that
- 23:15were there, such as the keys, the flashlight and most importantly, I
- 23:21informed them about the existence of the weapon. I didn' t tell them
- 23:25anything about what happened with Mr Major or the Child. All I told them
- 23:29was that we had that gun for emergency cases in case someone got in,
- 23:34although I also made it clear to them that the most likely thing was that,
- 23:38as soon as the partner left the job, he would take his gun.
- 23:42The hours passed and finally the time came to carry out the tour scheduled
- 23:47for eleven o' clock at night. As we walked the terrain, one
- 23:52of the boys asked me if I knew why my partner intended to quit.
- 23:57Considering that the work seemed to be quite easy and quiet, I wanted to
- 24:04avoid unnecessary future troubles and decided to reveal to them the truth about what was
- 24:10happening in that place. I reminded them of the incident of the worker who
- 24:15tragically lost his life at the shredder, to which they nodded with their heads
- 24:19demonstrating that they remembered what I had told them. With a gesture of my
- 24:23hand. I pointed towards the canals that were in the center of the terrain
- 24:27and told them when we got there they can hear how he talks to us.
- 24:33They went from laughter to disbelief. When I told them it wasn'
- 24:37t a joke, that I was completely serious. The boys turned around to
- 24:44look at me still unbelieving. I decided to momentarily interrupt our rondin and drive
- 24:51them to the canals. To put an end to that, we stopped at
- 24:55once near the area, staying there for a few moments in silence. Suddenly,
- 25:02a whisper came out from inside the ducts. The boys laughed nervously,
- 25:07perhaps trying to hide that if they had been a little scared as they were
- 25:14young, they thought they were very brave. One of them seriously commented the
- 25:18other guard was frightened by something so insignificant. I explained to them that,
- 25:23apart from whispering, that ghost had the ability to manifest in different places on
- 25:30the ground. Moreover, I mentioned to them that it was not the only
- 25:34spirit present, as there were also two others. The old lord' s
- 25:38and the boy' s. The boys were curious and wanted to know why
- 25:44those other two ghosts were manifesting in the place. Obviously, I couldn'
- 25:51t tell them the truth, so I decided to make up a story for
- 25:55them. I told them that both had died on the ground before it was
- 25:59acquired by the famous television artist. That night I didn' t take naps
- 26:04after the eleven o' clock and two o' clock tours in the morning.
- 26:08I didn' t want to risk it because those two boys were there.
- 26:14Although they were supposed to be known to the supervisor. You never know
- 26:18how the saying goes wrong and you' ll be right. During that time
- 26:23between eleven o' clock in the night and two o' clock in the
- 26:27morning, we simply sat outside the booth on some blocks and started talking about
- 26:33anything. There wasn' t much more to do in that night darkness,
- 26:38so we shared stories and chatted to pass the time. In that, one
- 26:44of the boys patted my shoulder and told me that I had just seen a
- 26:47person walk through some trees. It was in the direction of the old rooms.
- 26:55Without wasting time, the three of us get up and with the flashlight
- 26:59in hand leads us there. To be honest, I already knew it was
- 27:03the phantom of the worker, but I did not want the young people to
- 27:10rule out any explanation assuming immediately that it was a ghost. That was something
- 27:14they had to learn for themselves in their own shifts, as I had already
- 27:19expected. When we look at each of the old rooms, we find absolutely
- 27:25nothing. There was no sign of anyone. However, at the end of
- 27:30the road, behind the last of the rooms, we found the traces of
- 27:34the mud and at the end of the road just behind the last of the
- 27:40rooms, we found some clearly visible mud tracks. One of the boys commented
- 27:45that there should certainly be someone there, as those footprints could not be explained
- 27:51otherwise. Taking advantage of the opportunity, I asked them a subtle question to
- 27:59understand if I need to tell them directly that something strange was happening in that
- 28:04place. I asked them they really think an adult accompanied by a child would
- 28:11venture in here. Besides, it hasn' t rained lately, so how
- 28:17do they explain the presence of mud. No need to say more. There
- 28:21was no need to explain anything else. That made it clear to them what
- 28:25was happening. Before the end of that month, the other fellow guard left
- 28:30and took his gun. The boy who stayed at his post didn' t
- 28:36last two weeks and quit. Then they put the other one in and it
- 28:41lasted a little longer. He endured being there almost like three or four months,
- 28:45but after being scared off, he was also suggested by the supervisor to
- 28:48hire someone with experience, someone who was used to stressful situations, as those
- 28:55are usually less likely to his Fortunately, he listened to me and hired a
- 29:03guard with several years of experience in the field. From the first conversation I
- 29:10had with him, it became clear that I had witnessed and experienced many situations
- 29:15related to night work and so I felt that I could trust him enough to
- 29:19take him to the area where the two bodies were buried. I told him
- 29:25in detail what had happened there. Later, he suggested an alternative to replace
- 29:30the gun. He had a dog trained as a security guard. He offered
- 29:36to take him to work, mentioning that he was an excellent dog and that
- 29:41he was used to working with other guards. I thought it was a good
- 29:45idea and when the new partner came back for his next shift, he was
- 29:49already bringing the dog. With him he was an imposing German shepherd of those
- 29:53who resemble police dogs. For that I had used my turn to gather branches
- 30:00and blocks and made him a small house so that during the day the dog
- 30:03could cover itself with the sun. The months passed. On one occasion,
- 30:08the new partner had to take his dog because he had to go to the
- 30:12vet. That night I felt strange because I had already gotten used to the
- 30:18duke dog' s company was called the Canine. I just finished the 2
- 30:22: 00 a m tour. When, at the time I was heading to
- 30:26the cabin to fall asleep for a while, I realized that a man was
- 30:30standing outside the gate and was signaling me to approach. However, I decided
- 30:37to stay at a distance and with a firm voice, I yelled at him
- 30:42to know what I needed. What he said to me was that he wanted
- 30:45to take the bodies. Those words made me have a very bad feeling until
- 30:51I got a little uncomfortable. Still I kept quiet and with another scream,
- 30:56I demanded that he withdraw immediately and made it clear to him that I would
- 31:00not allow him access. In addition, I warned him that if he persisted
- 31:06in his attempt to enter, I would be forced to take drastic measures.
- 31:11The lord retired, but as I watched him walk away I noticed something strange
- 31:15in his ears. They were pointed and covered in hair, similar to a
- 31:21dog' s ears. That night I couldn' t sleep and some time
- 31:26later, the ghosts of the elder lord and the child scared the hell out
- 31:30of me, so I finally decided to tell the supervisor that I would leave
- 31:34the job. As on the previous occasion, he sent me two people to
- 31:38take a shift with me to see if they really cared about the job.
- 31:45The good news was, he didn' t send me inexperienced guys anymore.
- 31:48The two people who arrived had worked as guards, one in the hold and
- 31:52the other in a bank, so they already had a little sense of how
- 31:56to do the job. At two o' clock in the morning we were
- 32:01doing the tour, we ran into the prints while we were coming back.
- 32:07The night silence was interrupted by the ferocious barking duke. As we approached the
- 32:13main gate, we realized that there was an imposing black dog with white eyes
- 32:17and pointed ears. The outside dog threw an intimidating bark that frightened Duke,
- 32:24who ran out to take refuge in the makeshift house I had set him up.
- 32:30The black dog continued barking fiercely for a distressing ten minutes before finally retiring.
- 32:38That was the last night I worked on that property. One man was
- 32:43the one who took my job. He still works there until today. Anonymous account
