- Nate: Tonight on the North American Friends Movie Club. An evil balloon. His grumpiest nephew. And a special blue juice that makes you see your grandma. We watched the 2024 Epic Space Opera film Dune Part 2. So slip your hand into the little box. And don't even think about squirming around. Because we're the Benny Gizeret of podcasting. And this show is our totally normal voice. Play the music. This what it sounds like when we do a podcast. We're currently doing what? This is the North American Friends Movie Club, and you might notice something about the name of our show. And that's Friends Comes Before Movie Club. Because it's simply more important to us. It's as important to us as Spice is to the entire universe and trade. ⁓ Yep. So I gotta ask my two. Little my two Lizan Galibs. Ooh Lizana Galib. How we do it? I really want us to check in. How do we think we're doing as a as friends? As well, that's kind of confuse like not personally, as a group of friends. Yeah. ⁓ good. Like interrelationally, how do you think we're doing? Great. Do you think we're in line? Do you think we're attuned? I don't think most friends hang out once a week. Like I haven't seen even when Andy and Bree lived here, I don't think we hung out once a week just because li life, you know, it's busy it's a it's a busy thing. That's why I think my sister is my friend. I see my sister Jamie. I try to every week. And I s I'm seeing Jennifer now, but not once a week. I feel like I see Jamie more. And that's who I would say is my closest friend. And you guys. I have a bone to pick with you with both of you guys actually. Okay, so you don't think we're doing well. It's good that Kay brought this up. Sunday I posted a picture of the Gom Jabbar in our group chat and crickets. Well, it was you just you just posted just a picture of it. No no content. What do you want from me? I ease ⁓ I Yeah, I can ease up. Does he know how to reply? I truly didn't know how to reply. That's a classic print special. You just you post something or an image that there's no response to. Yeah. just I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Cause I in Dune t well, in Dune two there's a Gamja Bar scene, but no really explanation to it. So I had to ⁓ I started reading the the Dune one book and explains the Gamja Bar. Yeah, that's right at the beginning, kinda. Tell us. Tell us right now. Well, the Reverend Mother puts young Paul in the Gom Jaber box and the and I just I as I was listening, I'm like with my knowledge of needles and my knowledge of being spiteful, I think I could easily pass the Gomja Bar. You are in the gum jabbar every day. I was gonna say, like you're literally passing it as we speak right now. If any of the three of us is suited for the test, it's you. I can't wait to go to the pain doctor and describe how I've been feeling recently and I'll say, well, gum jabbar and see what he says. Yeah. See if he's a real Dune fanatic. Yeah. And then if he doesn't know what it is, I explain it. And if you'll look at me confused or probably if he doesn't know what it is, well W you're we're gonna watch six hours worth of movies together to ⁓ this out. I didn't know what I wouldn't have known. And I think I'm a better person for knowing. Like I feel bad. Like when I was a kid, I tried to s read Lord of the Rings and it was like slightly above where I was like comfortably able to read at the time. And I feel like Dune was that. Like I've always felt like Dune was gonna be a little bit too hard for Kate to read. Yeah. Like D I would say Dune is much easier to read than ⁓ Lord of the Rings is w it's written in like one of the weirdest ways ever where you you go inside every character's head, which is not like a normal book. Well, that makes me want to read it, but I'm reading something right now, which leads me into do you guys want to know what's been happening? I would like to know what's happening. ⁓ so that reminds me, I started my sister read the book Yesteryear, which is then this book that a lot of people have been reading and liking like in book clubs and it's so good and it's about a trad wife, like an influencer, a trad wife influencer who somehow gets stuck back in eighteen fifty five and like as one of those. Sounds corny. Like to when I first heard that I was like, okay, like w I don't know. You can that could be a very easy plot or you know what I mean? Like kind of cheesy. But it's like so interesting. And here's the secret of the book, guys. She hates women ultimately. Yeah. She doesn't like herself. She talks about all the mean women, but she is actually very mean. Incel. Yeah. corny. Incel. Did you just say incel? I did. That is that's a good point. No, no. I can't when you said corny movie and I immediately thought of the new film. the Wicker Man or whatever it's called. ⁓ my gosh. What is that about? I can't wait to wa it's about a woman. She's in a village and she is single. She's not married, and everyone's asking her if it's kinda running joke around the village that she's not married and she can't find love. And she goes to a a young or not a young, ⁓ a Peter Dinklage, who is a kind of a mystery man. And she requests that he build her a husband. And he makes it a husband out of wicker. And it's played by a Sky Resguard brother. And I saw the sh it is? I watched the trailer for it and I'm like, this is gonna be this is gonna be a good movie. I saw one still of it and I don't know anything about it. And all I'm thinking about is what we're all thinking about. What's that penis look like? What's that wicker penis look like? That's what we want to know. The whole trailer. It probably gets in the way. Or it's detachable. I think it's woven. The wicker man is puts it in his pocket when he's not needing it. I think it's adjustable. He can adjust the wicker pattern to whatever is comfortable. Stretch it out. ⁓ it's like a Chinese trap. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. That's exactly what I was thinking, Kate. His penis is like a Chinese finger trap. And a knot on the end. The wicker knot. The whole trailer is just her getting rail. It's it's ⁓ also not also you guys I don't think anybody wants to come to my event. And so ⁓ I'm still having it though. So if you want to come to my event, that is of me doing therapy with you and helping you and teaching you, how do I I don't know how to promote this. It's a CEU event, right? So like professionals could come ⁓ Continuing education credit. So if you're a licensed professional in the state of anywhere, it you have to continue to get educational credits. And this is free educational credits. ⁓ also it's just for people that aren't professionals. Like, so that's what's so hard about marketing what I'm doing is because it's both for the layman and the professional. You know what I mean? It's for anybody that wants to go deep. It's for anybody that wants to understand how to heal from complex post-traumatic stress disorder. So if you are interested in that, please buy a ticket and come. And like, let's feel good together. I guarantee you, you will leave that three hours. You'll leave at 3 p.m. Maybe you'll go to Costco to get a hot dog because it's across the ⁓ Across the parking lot. Okay. And you'll be like, that was a hundred percent worth my time. This is the stuff you need to start putting on the flyers. Yeah, you should have started started with Costco hot dogs across the street. Tell them about the snacks that are gonna be there. Tell them there's an old chintzy bullshit. Tell them there's a Costco right next door. So this is gonna be released on the 13th. Correct. And my event is the 23rd. So when this is released, there are still 10 more days for you to get a ticket to experience what I'm offering. Mm-hmm. and maybe you go to Costco afterwards and you're like, I never am around here. Chicken bait. So I should go get sampler muffin pack. I mean Kirkland. All the good strawberries. My favorite thing to get now, this might make sense and is not embarrassing. My favorite thing to get at Costco is their organic milk because you get three ⁓ quart containers in a thing and it's delicious milk and it lasts forever. So I can have that milk for a month, but I'd probably drink it in I don't know, two weeks. Yeah. I mean, come on. I don't know. I drink it more than I drink more than that in a week. So don't no need to be shy. Three hour dive. But I take it, come let me help you. Like I don't how do I talk about this without sounding arrogant? Like it doesn't sound arrogant whatsoever. No, you're promoting something you're doing to help others. Thank you. It's it is very shocking to me how you guys can tie in so much dairy to your Built different. Yep. Yeah, built different. We are. How we are not sponsored by Melk, I don't know. It's so our first sponsor because Melk was our sponsor. ⁓ Jules wanted me to she she gave me permission and wanted me to share that she was more ex and while it was sh okay. So it's back to school time. And so I'm buying my daughter her back to school supplies and back to school shoes. And I bought her back to school Birken stocks. So she's been wanting these Birkenstock slides forever. And I got her those when we were on vacation and she was very excited. But she was more excited after we went to Target and bought her school supplies. It she got her first calculator. She got her first like TX 10 or whatever they are. ⁓ damn. Texter Sensements makes a fine product. Yep. And she I was with her when on her own she was trying to figure out how to write boobs. Yeah. That was my first question. And ⁓ she was like showing it to me and she was like laughing and I knew what she was ⁓ and so and I said, Well, I feel like as your mother I should be the one to sh to show you. And so That's a big moment. Yeah, she doesn't need to find that out from a boy. Find that out from your mom. That's something you need to learn from your mother. It's a it's one of those. It's Benny Gesseret stuff. It really is. I don't know which difference between Canada and America, but we actually did boobies a lot. Boobs is fine, but boobies is you gotta flip it upside down to get boobies. Okay. I I feel like I remember doing that and I'm gonna pass along that information. Thank you. It it's like, yeah, it's it's I've known that to be a a a ⁓ a daughter mother moment my whole life. Like dads get to like hold on to the back of the bicycle seat and let go. You guys get to flip the Texas instrument calendar upside down. Yeah, flip a few calips. Look at this. This is Can could just before we t we we we leave this subject, can you imagine being the guy that came up with that? Because you know it was a guy. ⁓ He must have been treated like It could have been a lesbian, Brent. So Hadero Masculine normative of you, Brad. It could have been a lesbian. You know what it probably was, Brent? I bet a lesbian saw it first, but was like, I cannot give up this information without blowing up my spot. And at this time of the history of the earth, it's not safe. So she kept it to herself. She had to sit there and watch as like a useless man 10 years later discovered and she'd be like, ⁓ great job. Cool. I don't like those. Because if she did that, she would have been like, yeah, through society would have probably burned her at the stake. Yeah. But when a guy if a guy did it. So many dead lesbians. Yeah. Do you know how many lesbians have been murdered from being called witches? ⁓ our poor ladies. ⁓ Brent, you're gonna relate to this maybe. ⁓ Okay. I have realized I don't know. Nate, do you like to have Air blowing at you. Yes, very much. Okay. So maybe this is something ⁓ so when I my favorite is when there is air blowing at me. Whether I am on a beach or I am in my bed or I am on wherever I am, I want there to be air blowing. And I put it Together just while I was on vacation and I have a new fan that blows so hard and it's like you're on the beach. It's the same feeling. Beach family. And when I was on the beach and I figured that out on the beach, I was like, this is gonna make life so much So anytime there's wind blowing on your face, you can be wherever you wanna be. And may that might be your bet. Like snuggle up in bed or anyway, I just wanted to talk about My love for I currently have a fan in the background blowing on me and an ⁓ window unit air conditioner blowing on me. Yeah, I can't sleep without my oscillating fan. Yeah. ⁓ Nick's Nick had two oscillating fans go out like within a short period of time. No, that's not good. Tell Nick he's gotta do something. He's gotta smudge the whole house or something. He has he has a box. fan he's been using, which is just like the lowest level of fan technology. Yeah, it's that's a garage that's a garage fan if I've ever heard of one. But he has to he has to take this seriously. He's got to figure it out to know our fans just two fans just don't go out. Because it impacts me too. It's not just about Nick. I care about myself too, right, guys? Of course. Of course. And kar he's got bad karma right now. Anywhere I go, I want there to be a fan. I have a portable fan I take with me places. Mm mostly just when I'm outside. Mama on the lake? Like we didn't know you had a portable fan. Imagine. But do you remember the tip I taught I taught everyone a few weeks ago? I remember you gotta be wet if it's over thirty. That's That's right. That's like eight cents. And the fan doesn't work below ninety degrees. Yeah. Or yeah, fans don't work above ninety degrees. That's for Americans. Yeah. You have to be wet above ninety degrees. But a fan can work below ninety degrees. It's gotta be wet over thirty. What they say. And that's what's been happening. That's what happened. And that's what happened. That's what happened. Mixed bag from Brent this week. My heart is torn. Nate knows what I'm gonna talk about. It's the two thousand twenty yeah, it's a two it's worth it's two thousand twenty-six Little League World Series dime. the winner goes to represent Canada at the ⁓ Little League World Series of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. It's being hosted at my hometown where I grew up and was born in. ⁓ they have a team in it, and there's also the city. Place Bay. Place Bay. Place it it's French. It means Bay of Ice. ⁓ French settlers landed here and then it says this is just a big fucking surrounded by ice. I bet you're super French, Brent. Are you super French? No. No. I'm Irish and Scottish. Parlez-vous francais. Oui. the so And ⁓ the t town that or the city that I I've lived in for the last twenty years has a team in it. Sydney. Sydney. So one's gotta win, one's gotta lose. And my heart is torn. I don't know who to go for. This is Paul Atreides stuff. So I feel like I have to go for my hometown, Place Bay, right? Yeah, I think so. I think you have to. I have a friend whose son plays on. The Sydney team. See now. Complicated, but yeah, now I think you gotta no yeah, I'm with Kay. You could either either one, hey, you're good. Here's here's the little against anybody. It's kinda like being Mama Kelsey. She wants everybody to win. Yeah. Okay. Maybe I well yeah. Okay, maybe I wear a split jersey to the final. Yeah, Mama Kelsey. Exactly. If we make it. Mama Kelsey. ⁓ here's a little trivia lore about Brent. ⁓ Brent's father, Kevin, and his uncle. Thomas sang the national anthem at the Little League World Championship in 1989. ⁓ my gosh. Yeah. ⁓ that's cool. Yeah, he's quite the quite the man, Kevin. Is there a video recording of this somewhere on the VHS tape? There is. And there it's and he actually was the host, so he had to go around and he interviewed all the other teams from all over the country. Well, this puts Brent in perspective. You're basically like Paul McCartney's son. Basically. He knows I'm funny and he makes sure that I know that he gets I get my humor because of him. Yeah. That sounds like something you would do. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I love how I give out lore and then we we we break it down and then we discuss it. Like, ⁓ this all makes sense now. Yeah. Another another brick in the wall. Yeah. He ⁓ Two time. You gotta get you gotta digitalize that VHS. Yeah, I'm gonna do I I would love to do I'm gonna di I that's a good idea. We should do that for a gift. Yeah, I'm gonna do that. We should all do that. I wanna digitalize all the VHS. ⁓ I'll digitalize and his band. He was in a band and I could digitalize that. Okay, that's a good idea. Thank you for that. ⁓ so yeah, he's a two time Cape Breton ⁓ sport hall of fame inductee. I I had to l I lived under a big shadow, I had to feel it sounds like it. I didn't know. Yeah, yeah. ⁓ so that's what's going on with the t I and I texted Nate and Paul Spence yesterday. ⁓ Paul Spence is a he was a resident of Alberta for a while. Nate's a resident of Alberta. And I told them and to I hated them basically because Alberta defeated one of my teams. But then I updated on that I screwed up and it wasn't. It was Ontario, so while I was forgiven. And then I had another update that I screwed it up and then my team beat Alberta the day before. And I think my words were suck it from the back, stick to hockey. Yeah, that is what you said. And it was shocking. It was it was a real roller coaster reading those texts. It was an up and down day. Yeah. I was in bed all day. And I was just yeah. Angry. You were emotional. I was in my bag yesterday with texts. ⁓ suck it from behind. From the back. From the back makes it. Yeah, either way. Yeah. Tell in two men with combined That's why you don't no, that's why I don't text you back with Shilly. I don't want I don't ever want to get texts like that. Don't bring that to me. And I'm glad you leave that over there. Yeah, brand new witch chat to drop that in. Man. Well, it doesn't matter because you ⁓ we've established that someone can post Gam Jabur. Into which I nobody replies for three days. A photo of it in with no context. I could have been dying, and that could have been a cryptic message. It could have been. I don't have time. I didn't have time to text. The killer was coming down the stairs. I only could post Gom Jabbar. Well then you're dying. If you had posted a hunter-seeker, I would have understood, but unfortunately you you went with the Gom Jabbar. Here's the thing. What the context is though, Brent had been talking about how much this has changed his life. He has a different perspective on his personality because he is He got an acronym going. He said post Dune Brent, PDB. He's like, This is the new world's PDB. Right. Okay. So then later, like not that long later, you post a picture of K Jacob. I can't pronounce it. Yeah. And I didn't know how to reply because now This is a post, dude. Brent. Yeah, PDP. I don't know what post d thank you. I don't know what he needs. You were in the you posted a photo of a very intense test. Mm-hmm. Maybe the most intense test. So that I could easily pass. Yeah, actually, I feel like we did exactly what we're supposed to. We held still. Yeah, we held still. That was my immediate thought when Brent started talking about this. I got real defensive because I don't like our friendship to be challenged. If I'm not replying to something is maybe you should have checked on me. ⁓ with the sweater around the shoulders? That really hit. That really hit. The guy in Gom Jabbar doesn't check on people. People check on is the Gom Jabar guy. That's another t shirt. Did I talk about my Crocs last week? No? No. Croc guy now. ⁓ helly. D B's wearing rock and crocs? BDB. ⁓ I posted. Do you have any giblets on it yet? No, not yet. Can I send you some giblets? Melissa already made this giblets joke. She bought them for me and I it might have been a like a good running bit for her to set me up with giblets. she she knew how much it affected me the first time we went to the beach because I can't walk on sand. So I can't wear slides. So I wore sneakers to the beach like a fucking asshole. That's tough. That's tough. It's a tough look. Yeah. There's only one shoe for you for PD Beats. Okay, but I'm glad you're down there. And I think anybody who's making fun of people wearing sneakers on the beach now, they That's me. I'm the guy that makes fun of people. How do you say it? Gom jabar. Gom jabbar. Gom jabbar. Yeah. Two different words. Two different words. Gom. But you but you don't though because you're saying it as one. So you don't know. Shabar. There you go. This is a different language, this movie. She's taking to their ways like she's one of them. ⁓ hey. I already started listening to the the Quran because of this movie. ⁓ damn. I'm four chapters. You said you wanted to read all of the religious texts. I'm four chapters deep. This is your entry. I was the first chapter is called The Cow. I'm like, hell yeah, let's go. Okay. Fucking race. So ⁓ the so croc, these are industrial crocs though. These are like the big boys. These are like they have like a soul on the bottom. I post a picture in the chat. This is another example of just my pictures going. Yeah, I don't know if I saw I don't know if we got a croc shot in the chat. ⁓ wait, yes, we did. I just thought like, hey, he's going to the beach. No, these are not industrial. These are like normal crocs brunt. Okay. Okay. These are not crocs. You don't look these are not Crocs that you should be embarrassed about. I th I'll show you the side profile picture. Those are big, they're the industrial crocs. You can see the side. Into the belly of the beast. Yeah. That's me going to the beach. Because of that's my next point of ⁓ all the sharp warnings and whale warnings that we have now. Did I talk about the whale warnings? I haven't heard about any whale warnings. ⁓ yeah, we have an architect. ⁓ man, you've been holding out. We have no, I've been putting all the stuff in the chat that you guys don't read. ⁓ the there's an orca now. And ⁓ a killer whale? Yep. Yep. And I just was informed now that there's ⁓ beluga. There's a beluga spotted. And the beluga is was known that it was skinny, so it could be looking to hunt. I wouldn't worry that much about the beluga, but I would orcas I would. Orcas are the serial killers of the ocean and like You gotta keep your eyes out. Yep. Heads on a swivel. That's why I put belly into the belly of the beast when I go to the beach because I'm looking death in the eye. You are. Very good chance I might not be here in mid-August. I might not even be around when this comes out. Yep. Especially if I'm working. It's depressing, Brent. I'll miss you. So it'll really impact my life if you die. I know, Will. So I brought this up ⁓ in Spanish Angels and they immediately want me. dead terror and feathered. They said that orcas are actually killer whale or actually ⁓ dolphins. And I was like, what the fuck are you talking about? They are. Yeah. Well then I said, okay, I'll take to the internet and asked the internet and I did a little and I found the definitive article that they're both. They're both whales and dolphins. So a backfired on the Spanish Angels. I'm actually article. Where'd you find that article? Wait a second. I don't understand what you guys are talking about. What do you mean they are part whale and dolphin? What killer whale or Norca, which is a killer whale, is actually a dolphin. So it's not a whale. Well, the term is interchangeable. Whale and dolphin can mean the same thing. So it backfires. Wait, wait. I know. I thought, yeah. Did you know this, Nate? No. I knew they were dolphins. I didn't I don't personally and I still don't personally believe that dolphins and whales are interchangeable. It's the very first thing if you Google that I mean it comes up. Google I love are whales and dolphins the same thing. Cause the first now, especially these days, the first thing on Google has a fifty fifty shot of being bullshit. Yes, all dolphins are whales because they are both marine mammals in the same scientific group called cetacea. Dolphins are a type of toothed whale, but not all whales are dolphins. They share traits like breathing through blowholes. But dolphins are generally smaller and always have teeth, while some whales have baleen plates instead. Boom. Not all whales are dolphins. But all dolphins. Wow. So that backfired that where they said, Well, you're not surrounded by whales, and then after that, I've actually beaten yes, I'm surrounded by whales now and dolphins because I'll Yeah. Yeah. So Big dog move. You're geographically big dogging a majority of the earth. ⁓ One could argue. Going into the belly of the beast with crocs on. Side profile crocs? Come on, dog. It's a post-Dune Brent. Yep. PDP. What do dolphins eat? Krill. They love krills. Yeah, they love krill and fish. And ⁓ orcas eat seals. They eat sharks. They'll fuck they'll they'll hunt. They'll like swim together, like in a group, to make a wake that'll tip over a a p piece of floating ice so that the seal falls in, they all like just get in line like F four fifteen's is they're smart. That's cool. They're so smart, and we should never ever ever put them inside a little thing. I read a good thing, a good question is if do we think that if the the killer whales decided to band together all of them in the world, could they take over the world? No. No. They're lucky we're letting them they're lucky we're ignoring them right now. I got a movie to you to watch called ⁓ Cove. We should just watch the Cove. Japan is not letting them do what they want. That's a good point, Brett. That was an intense movie. They where they kill the whales. Yeah. They like catch Yeah. In the code. No. Arpooning. ⁓ that's it for me. It's I think it's time now for the the weekly report. Let's do the weekly report. Week, week, week, week, week, ⁓ week, week, week, week, weekly report. Weekly report. We gotta start with a farm report. Haven't given you guys any farm reports this year because just there's been so much other stuff going on, but one nice perk of living in the The most rainiest year that Edmonton has ever seen by far. The record is already broken. It is only the beginning of August and it's already rained more than ever. It never stops raining here. It rained yesterday, it rained the day before. I don't know what to do with myself, but That's depressing. Everything is growing so much. Everything the these are all plants that are used to like one sip of water per year. So they're everything is going insane. My trees. I've got a tree that started growing two years ago and it is as big as the three story house that they built next to me. It's the most impressive tree I've ever seen in my life. It's called Scrub Maple, and they should call it a fucking king maple because of how it's growing. I got let me tell you something. ⁓ But I haven't been watering my plants whatsoever. I think maybe I watered them twice at the beginning of the year. I ha I have been harvesting gigantic cabbai. Cabbages. I had a cabbage as big as my gut. Cabbi. Yeah. This is how I know we're des we're friends of destinies because I learned ⁓ some facts about wild cabbage last night. We're on the same train, man. What do you what did you learn? Wild cabbage, is it? Well, that's that's perfect. That's a perfect setup. It's like we scripted this because everything that you eat that's green is from the wild cabbage. Brussels sprouts, kale, alrabi, broccoli, cauliflower, all the Confucius festivals I call them. I don't know the ner coniferous, I say Confucius. But all those big ⁓ you know, guile all that stuff comes from different parts of the wild cabbage plant. So what have you have you been cutting yours up and eating it, Nate? What are you doing with your cabai? I unloaded a cabbage onto my friend because they're so they're so large and there's and I grew and there's so many growing that I like became overwhelmed all at once, where I was like, I need to do something about these cabbages. So I called my friend who likes to eat green stuff. like you gotta get over here. I need so I need I need some a hand. And so she she dutifully came and picked up her cabbage. ⁓ and then she took me out for dinner. That was a real good deal. That was that's what I'm saying for one. I picked up the cabbage. We did that with tomatoes and get this cabbage picked up. We planted too many tomatoes. They are big this time of year. What That thing's full of water and it's just ready. It's it's it's ripe and it's just ready. Wow, I'm still struggling with mosquitoes, so I can tell it's they never the it's I've never s it's never been anything like this. Is it it's better than it was, but it's still crazy. Climate change. Climate change. But I was going through it the last few weeks, as you know. Karma has balanced the scales. Karma has balanced the scales in ways that I could never have imagined in Low but a week. So to everybody listening, if you're going through some tough time, just listen to this. Just listen to these things that I'm about to say and know that things can get better. One, my car was making a horrible noise, a violent noise, a noise that sounded extremely expensive to me. It was one of those noises that every time I heard it, it was like one dollar, two dollar, three. Like every second, it just goes up and up and up and up. Took it to the muffler shop. One weld. On one bracket that had come loose, $100 fix. If you can if your car sounds like shit and it costs $100 to fix, that's like a fucking miracle. That's like I can't ⁓ That's awesome. That's divine intervention. And the guy I couldn't I couldn't have been happier going to the shop. First of all, the guy had the this guy had a joke for everything. You could tell this guy's been working in the shop for 40 years. And the guy in front of me, they were like talking ⁓ about the guy coming back to pick up his car. And he was like, ⁓ yeah, I have ⁓ an appointment tomorrow. And the guy's like, What? You can an appointment to kill yourself? And we all laughed. It's like he just said it so fast, like and then I said, I need you to help I need you to fix my muffler. And he says, If you if your muffler's broken, you gotta go to the hospital. But if your car's muffler is broken, I can help you like This guy. This guy's having a good time. And then they got my car up on the on the lift. And then he he's like, come on back here. So we all walked under my car and he showed me what was wrong. And I had to like stand there and be like, Hmm, yes. Go go right ahead and weld that bracket. Thank you. And we're all standing there looking at each other. It was just a I would just describe it as a very ⁓ great experience. And when I drove off, I was in such a good mood. ⁓ also I took it to the local car repair, and I have always been really nice to these guys. And they looked at the car, they told me what was wrong with it, told me to take it to a new place, didn't charge me w even one dollar. Like, ⁓ wow. He's like, I remember you, man. You'll come back. I was like, Yeah, that's right. You do remember me. I'm a cool guy. I'm a cool guy who's always polite. So this is right. This is karma. And the dude the dude at the muffler shop was I was like, ⁓ these guys from this other auto shop sent me over. He's like, they send them from everywhere. You take your car to the dealership, they're gonna send you here. I was like, okay, confidence. Like you you're the fucking muffler guy in town, ⁓ Like, all right, okay, bro. That's awesome. And don't tell anyone where that is. I'm just kidding. I am you know what I mean. Edmonton listeners. Action muffler. That's our boy. Our boy, an action muffler, is fucking killing it. I was in and out of there 45 minutes, welded up. ⁓ and then I've been lifting to weights, drinking to dairy, dancing, of course. And then I've started my new book, The Divine Comedy by Dante. And I I gotta tell you guys. I've been reading Dostoevsky for a month and a half. And I would describe it as like ⁓ a hearty potato soup. Like it this is like it's keeping you alive in the winter. It's filling your stomach, but it's a bowl of potato soup. This Dante, this is like si a sizzling plate of fajitas has been brought out from the back. Like this is this shit. After eating all that potato soup is just like, I'm having the time of my life. It's so fucking funny. This shit starts off, it just it gets right into it. This guy, he's like, I'm lost in the woods. Now there's a leopard. Now there's a she-wolf. Now there's a lion. Now I gotta run. And all of these things are like ⁓ I don't know what the right word is for like analogies or like metaphors or allegories or whatever. Allegories for different things. And you can like Book has like annotations in the back that explain it's like for it feels like it's for students. It's like one of those copies where it's like you can read it and then flip to the back and each chapter has different stuff broken down. Like this is what the she wolf represents. Like, ⁓ the the leopard is jealousy and stuff. It it explains itself. So that's been interesting to read it that way. It's a really big book, but I feel like half of it is the annotation. All of it. Classique classificate question. I was gonna ask as well. Yeah. Are you gonna finish it? And it's Is it bigger than the idiot? I would say no, sort of. It's like half of the book feels like annotations. So like you don't have to read all of the annotations. I only flip back when something that I don't quite understand or feels like it might be explained, and then it'll be like In the back and be like, ⁓ this guy who he's referencing is this guy from Florence in 1300. Like, so I'm only flipping maybe twice per page. So it's a big book, but it's not, I don't know, it's it feels much less intimidating than the idiots. Because it's more fun to read. Just because it's so much more fun to read. Like it's they get they they go into hell. Well, one, he like meets Virgil. Poe Virgil, who's gonna like take him through hell. And I love the way that he's like at every opportunity he gets, he's talking about how cool Virgil is, and he's like, and my beautiful, incredible leader who is so strong and smart, took me in here, and then the coolest dude ever, who I happen to be hanging out with right now, showed me the way down the path. Like he's so into Virgil. And then the first part of hell is for people who are like. Not that evil, but they didn't have Jesus, like Jesus didn't exist yet, or whatever. So it's just like he's like listing all of these people from history who happen to be in the first ring of hell. It's almost like he's being like, Plato is chilling over with Socrates and Jimi Hendrix is playing in a band with John Lennon. Like it's got that vibe to it. He's like, and I look over here and it's like, ⁓ it's Euclid. Didn't he didn't think he was gonna end up here? Like he's just listing like famous people. Then he then it gets like so funny. Of like there's this one part where he's talking about all the different punishments, and he's like, and there's hornets, and there's wasps, and the wasps and the hornets sting your face, and your tears run down and mix with the blood, and then the blood and the tears run down to your feet, and then disgusting bugs eat the blood and the tears and they suck it all. Just like reading this like more fajitas, more fajitas, let's go, let's go. It's just like it's just been, it's been a pleasure. That's all I can say is like, what a great time, what a dude. When you compare it to fajitas, I imagine you're reading it at the library, and other people at the library are like, ⁓ I'm gonna have that. That's how it feels. That's absolutely how it feels. And then the other funniest, funniest part about this book is that. It was written after he was like kicked out of Florence, ⁓ for what could have been potentially some bullshit reasons. Like he might have been they might have accused him of doing some fraud that he never did. And it has to do with like the Pope and Florence. And so a lot of the people that are in hell are just like dudes from Florence. So you like go to the first ring of hell and it's like Socrates and Plato and Euclid, they're all there. And then you get to like the seventh ring of hell and it's like. Johnny Spaghetti from Florence, this guy I knew who happens to be the biggest fucking asshole in the world. Here's what's happening to him in hell. Speaking of ⁓ people talking mad shit, we we got into it this week. It's Kate's month. Not sure what the theme is actually. ⁓ it's how dare you started out as a a theme of being in the water, and we ended up in Arrakis the most. It's ocean and water month. Ocean and water month. No, excuse me. Ocean Fuck. We're still still going through. We still don't know. Ocean and beach month. Ocean and beach month. Ocean and beach month. ⁓ so it's Ocean and Beach Month here on North American Friends Movie Clubs. Okay, tell everybody what you picked as the inaugural movie of Ocean and Beach Month. I wanted to watch Dune Part two. And that came out in 2024. And it's full of sand, and sand is all over a beach. Some of these planets are entire beaches. And I would love to hear about the plot of Dune part two from ⁓ Post Dune Brent. Okay, so there's Pre-Dune Brent, which was a couple of days ago, and now there's post Dune Brent. ⁓ didn't want to watch his movie, watched it, and here's what post Doom Brent has to say about Doom Two. The movie takes place on Arrakis. The reason it takes place on Arrakis because Paula Trades, which is a star played by Timothy Chalamet, is moved there after the death of well, he's moved there and his father, ⁓ Leto dies at the hands of the Arraken, ⁓ which is these bad guys that are up north in Arrakis, mining all the spice, which is the drug that floats around in Arrakis. And ⁓ he is in contact with the Fremen, which are the sand people. ⁓ his mother comes along with him. ⁓ she is Then drinking the blue juice to become the Reverend Mother. ⁓ they think that he's some people in the Fremen think he is the chosen one, he's the greener pastures, literally. And some of them treat him like the chosen one, but he has to prove himself through a series of tests that he progresses through. Him riding a giant ⁓ dune worm, a big sandworm. He rides it, and ⁓ that is the nail in the coffin for them debating whether he is or not the chosen one. He is then given the highest honor of becoming part of the Fremen group where he chooses the name Wadadeeb, which is ⁓ K Naru Mouse, a small mouse in the fields. The sands of Arrakis. He's inhaling all this spice that's floating around. He's seeing his fucking his grandmother. He's seeing his mother. He's seeing don't go south. He's seeing all these visions. He's fucking popped up on goofballs the whole movie. He's seen all these visions. Harakonans still didn't forget about them. They're coming. They're in their goo. They're soaking in the goo. They're up and down in the goo. They're planning. They got Batista there. Doesn't know his head from his hole. Just bumbling, goofball idiot, three stooges type material, can't get anything done, just yelling. And then the big goo guy puts him on blast, the Baron. The Baron's like, No, you know what? You suck ass. You're lucky you're still alive. You're embarrassing the family. Let's bring out your very unhinged, undiagnosed ADHD cousin. Austin Butler comes out, he's bald as fucking can be, very pale. Doesn't seem to be in the goo as much. ⁓ he kills people at just like a d like getting tea in the morning. He doesn't care, he'll kill you. He slices next, he does ⁓ You're getting caught in the weeds. Okay, yeah. I because I love it so much, I can't just keep going. ⁓ Chani, which is played by Zandaya, is trying to keep Paul on the right track to keep him from reliving his own hype. He ends up drinking the juice. He's doing the voice. He's yelling at people. They have a big fight with the Harkinon. Everyone's happy. They want him to go south. He's gotta keep going north. Chani at the end of the movie is kinda at that point like, I don't trust I don't know if I can trust Paul anymore. And Paul is do what do I believe on the chosen one or do I go with my girl? That's Doom Two. That's Dune Two. That's that is a lot. That's Dune too. I mean Dune is a lot. It's it's it's a very di difficult ⁓ story to try to wrangle all the parts into There's a lot of parts. It spans a lot of different things. Well, let's talk about our favorite parts. Let's talk about our favorite parts. My first question for you, Brent, is did you watch Dune two without watching Dune One? One hundred percent. ⁓ that'd be that's that would be an intense way to do it. Yeah, dip my toes right into Dune Two. didn't know a lot of the people, had no idea what was going on. So I read a five minute little article and I was like, Okay, he's just landing with the Fremen and the Fremen are trying to take him under their wing. ⁓ like I said, didn't know what the Gom Jabbar was until I started I loved his movie so much. I started reading the book, doom one the book. That's what explained the Gom Jabbar to me. Did you watch the first one? No. Okay. So you haven't seen it, seen the movie yet? That's cool. I'm glad you liked it. I really I mean, come on. I sense a little bit r of regret in your voice, knowing how much this has changed my personality and how much you're gonna hear about it from me. ⁓ no, you're projecting that. Okay. If anything, I'm excited about it because ⁓ you know, I could talk about Dune. I could talk quite a bit about Dune and the different elements of Dune. Because what so you skipped over the two what I think are the two main pillars that interest me, which are ⁓ the Benny Gesseret and that the spice makes this entire universe possible because the spice allows you to see the future. It allows you to see all the paths. And that's how they travel through space is through they don't actually travel through space. They land in time. This is what I have understood about it. The the goo, the blue goo. No, you're mixing no you're mixing juice let's call it blue juice. Let's call it blue juice. Blue juice Yeah. ⁓ allows humans, the Benny Gesseret, to go back in time and have all of female memory. And there has never been a man. There was not supposed to be a man. Like they created a religion. Like they are not actually like a religious order. They're just like very smart women who want to maintain power. And ⁓ and then Paul comes. So Jessica falls in love with Leto and they have Paul even though she wasn't supposed to. Because she loved him so much. He wanted a son, so she gave him a son, even though that was against her Benny Gesseret training. Yeah. She was a concubine. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Dude, Timothy Chalamet, I I like him a lot. It he does some great acting. And it's like sometimes I believe him and sometimes I don't. Com I completely agree, Kate. One of the hardest things for me was trying to be like, who else would I rather see? And I could I don't know enough young actors to be like, it should have been this guy. So I can't say like he was miscast and it should have been someone else. But it's I don't believe his fighting. I believe his acting Yeah. Like Austin Butler fucking push him around. I believe his fighting. Push him around like a tynecoast hammerhead. Let's not bring that into it. Fucking getting around the corner, swiveling him 181 degrees. But I believe, but I think Timothy Chalamet does an amazing job of acting with Zendaya in the acting when he's not having to be physical. Like and when he's yelling, like I think that's the best he can do. And there's just like it's like he has his voice isn't deep enough or something. There's like something biological about it. This I the last thing I said before going into this movie to Scott was ⁓ this is a make or break time for Zendaya and Timothy Chalamet for me because I didn't I don't know whether I liked them or not. After this movie, you're not gonna find a bigger Timothy Chalamet or Zendaya fan than Brent, ⁓ Brent Murray. They somewhere in that rack's desert is Zendaya's hole because she acted it off. I'm about to hit you with the hottest take. I love Zendaya. I really think she's a great actress. I think she's a really cool person. I think Zendaya in this movie is not doing a very good job. I think she's mugging in this movie. She her she deserves an Oscar just for her squints. She squinted that polish raised this whole movie. Squint acting so much face. She is a film actress. She's acting on film. She had to squint a lot and mug it because of the sand is always blowing in your face. And you have to do that. That's true. you guys, I'm very impressed with your knowledge of the Doom Universe from Kate and Nate. And Kate, your your takes and your observations have made my notes that I'm gonna read seem very childish. That's all right. But that's not that's not your fault. There's no bad notes in ⁓ on on a podcast. Please. ⁓ the I don't know if you guys caught it at the start of the movie. There's this like, Silver pyramid ⁓ chess game going on. ⁓ I guarantee some nerds have came up with rules for that game. One hundred percent. For sure. Without a doubt. ⁓ I would be as a joke. It's easy to play, I would play it, but I know it's not easy to play. It's not. Like there's I I have a bone to pick with people. Okay. Stop making board games that take fourteen hours to learn to play. Yeah. Yep. Monopoly, you can learn it in ten minutes. Just play Katan. That's the best game. ⁓ I've never played it and I really want to play it. It's fun. It's never been the opportunity. Yeah, it's good fun. Because of the water situation on Raucas, as a joke, but semi serious, I would always be springing up evaporating our pee. And your feces. P in a cup, put some ram wrap over it, put it in the sand, and drink whatever comes up the top. ⁓ bucket he thought he was just ready for Arrakis. That was just his like ⁓ still suit that he was inventing. Yeah he's doing his Kate Breton still suit. That's not what I was doing. after watching the Harak Harkonen. After watching the Harkonnen fight for two hours I just wrote these fucks can't fight. I was so tired of them coming down in their big balloon Bra looking ships. Missy Elliott. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You can't come down and wear a hard looking gear and then confused by a gun bunch of fucking guys popping out of the sand. You know they're gonna pop out of the sand. No, they're like the they're like the guy at the golf course with five thousand dollar golf clubs and they're shanking it in the woods. You know? If I was at the Harkinin, Harakanin, Harkinin, Harkin in. If I was at the Harkin and little globe or little projected three D hologram meeting, instead of stabbing people, I would say, why don't we just bring a big fucking net and throw it out onto the desert? That way all the Fremen are stuck under the net and we bonk ⁓ on the head. That's it. He needed a brand to be like, Bro, let's just let's just throw a net down there. ⁓ The technology is there. ⁓ beyond. Did you know? Okay, so they have a TV show now from the Dune Univers universe, and it is a prequel of the Harkonnen, and it's like mostly the ladies. Like the Benny J it's about the Benny Gesseret. She happens to be a Harkonen, but it's all about the Benny Gesseret. Yeah. Well, I'm interested in it, but I don't know if I can do it. It's a medium the show's medium. Compared to the movies, especially I enjoyed it just because I like Dune. It's just fun to be in the Dune universe, but I would not classify it as a good show. Gotcha. Is it one season? Just one season's out. I don't know if they're even making anymore. They probably are, but I've only seen one season. Thank you. I only have two notes left. the yelling scene where he just yells ⁓ Paul Trades to rile everybody up. That one for me, Timothy Chalamet, Oscar, Zendea Oscar for this movie. great yeller. Great yelling work. To be that small in stature and have that haircut and to win me over with the yelling. Very good. And I disagree with the fighting. Charismatic. The fighting was excellent. Popping out that saying like a fucking can of snakes. I believe his running. I believe his jumping. Yeah, it's his like I agree. I would like to see him I would have liked to see them work in his smallness into his style to be like, okay. Yeah. You can be a great fighter. He's not gonna overpower anybody. This is what I'm saying. He's gotta be like quick enough that the big lumbering Harkin takes a swing and then he rolls under and he does some shit. He's gotta do jujitsu. Yeah, he's gotta do jujitsu. Yeah. He's doing way too much boxing, not enough jujitsu. ⁓ what if Chani, which is Zendaya, was only pretending to be in love with him to get kisses for the water. ⁓ that's instead of calling women whores, that's what they call them. Yeah. They're like it's like what's what's the water version of gold digger? Right, exactly. ⁓ we gotta come up with a word for that, ⁓ water. Well water well digger. She's a well digger. I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it. I I won this. I got it. Ready? Yeah. H2O. ⁓ Very good. That too. Very good. Boom. That was the best one. Right off the top. Right off the top. Biggie, eyes everywhere. ⁓ you guys ready for a quiz? ⁓ yeah, let's do it. It's ⁓ the Dune 27. ⁓ we're gonna start with Brent number one. Well, it's for both of you, but Brent's gonna answer first. Yep. ⁓ number one. What is Timothy Chalamet's middle name? Sal Fran Man Hal. Uncle Fran. Sal? I'm on the board, it's Hal. It's Timothy Halome Chalomet. Basically. I can't believe that. I can't hold on. Let me. Like, how is Hal even a name if we really think about it? It's not even sharp or anything. Yeah. It is. That's his middle name. It's I I think it's French. It's you don't probably say Hal. It's probably Hal. Hal. Timothy. Hal. Hal Chalomet. Sorry. Bonjour. All right, number two. In what religion did the concept of Messiah begin? Judaism, Christianity, or Islam? Judaism. Islam. The correct answer is Judaism. Number three, what is the water of life? Liquid from a dying sandworm, sandworm ejaculation, Reverend Mother's breast milk, Reverend Mother's Vegetal Secretion. A. It is liquid from a dying sandworm. That's correct. I thought maybe it was I thought there would be a casual watcher and maybe I could but alas we're dealing with big dogs. I would have remembered that scene, trust me. All rever mother, all strapped up. Yeah, I would've remembered that. Well, how else you gonna get the secretion, Sky? How else are you gonna get the secretion? She's gotta get she's gotta get strapped in. She's gotta put her legs in the stirrup. Okay, moving on. Moving on. You came up with this. You are things. You gave us the ball and we ran with it. You can't blame the running back for running. Number four. Was Dune to Dune part two in the top five, ten 20 or 50 movies of 2024. Was it in the top 50? Was it in the top 20? Was it in the top 10? Or was it in the top five? Top five. Well, I want to say top five, but to make a comeback, I have to go top 10. Top 10 is correct. Yeah, see? Strategy. Gone forever. Dune part two was the blank highest grossing film. Of two thousand twenty four with seven hundred and fifteen million. So ⁓ gonna go sixth. Yeah. Yeah, I'm going sixth because that's what I felt in my heart. The correct answer is seventh. Number six, this actor becomes the fanatical believer and leader that fiercely proclaims Paul as the Lasan Al-Gaib. He plays Max Cady in Cape Fear. What episode of Cape Fear did I watch last night and how did I feel about it? ⁓ you watched episode three. And you the way you felt about it was you are kind of losing interest and you're wondering if this show can maintain itself for a whole season. ⁓ you watched episode five, and you thought that they should probably figure a way to wrap this up quickly. I watched the last episode and I loved it so much, and I've loved the whole thing. Wow. Wow. Love Javier Bardem. I think he is a terrifying person. And solidified my favorite actor besides Daniel Day. He is crazy. He is a great actor. He's incredible. I would have believed him as Paul Atreides. Nate, the top ⁓ movies were Inside Out 2, Deadpool Molverine, Moana 2, Despicable Me Four, Wicked, Mufasa the Lion King, and then Doom. Ugh, four like five of those are horrible. That's movies, man. You're never gonna you're never gonna hear me talking shit on the minions. Nope. Not us. A lot of ⁓ a lot of animation. A lot of like rehashing, like Moana Lie, and can we do them again? Like that's that's what we got in 2024. This is the most we can bring ourselves to do. Okay, so we're all still tied, right? Kate, you're in the lead. No, I'm not counting that. No, it counts. You guys were so wrong. Yeah. And I feel bad. No, I think we had a chance to be right. We had a chance to be right. You weren't even right about me liking it. You both guessed that I didn't like it. Yeah. I was like, I don't think this is gonna be a good show. So I I use my own biases. Scary. But it did take place in the water. Because of violence and the ⁓ is crazy. Brent, that's a great point. It takes part Place on the water, we should have factored that in. That's a good point. Also, it stars Juliet Lewis, who's amazing. Wait, isn't she in the original? Yes. ⁓ so it's like he's come back for round two? Is that what's going on? She plays a totally different character. It's a different story. Crazy. Yeah. But he is the same. He it's still the character Max Max Katie, but Okay. Yeah. And it's a similar, like similar like the lawyers and their ma whatever. ⁓ I suggest it to those who are interested. Number seven, true or false? A worm is a soft bodied elongated vertebrate. Is it ⁓ my turn? So I'm gonna say true. I'm gonna say false. A worm is a soft bodied elongated invertebrate. It's false. It tricked me up on the vertebrae invertebrate. Damn. Okay, so what do we do? Are we tired or me and you were tired? Brent's gonna have to come up with a tiebreaker for us. All right, I'm gonna name four movies. Which one of these finished just behind Doom Part 2 in 2024? Okay. Venom, The Last Dance, Godzilla X, or Godzilla XCOM, The New Empire, Pug Pooh. Kung Poo. Kung Fu Panda 4. Sonic the Hedgehog 3. ⁓ All sequels. Tough. Tough. Now I went and saw Sonic the Hedgehog 3. So I would think that it you're I'm sure your eleven dollars contributed to this. I did, yeah. I'm gonna choose Kung Poo Panda. Okay. Kung Poo Panda. Those I I am stuck between Sonic and Kung Fu Panda, so for the sake of the show, I will say Sonic three. Okay. So we're gonna eliminate Kung Fu Panda and Sonic, because they are incorrect. We are gonna keep Godzilla and Kong and s Venom. But I'm gonna add two more movies. Okay. But we'll two but we'll know that it it's not it's not those. The two that you added. So it's either Kong or or ⁓ the other one. Yeah, okay. Okay, well then We should just guess between those two. Okay, guess what's the other one? ⁓ Godzilla and Kong and Venom. No, I've the Venom. Godzilla Kong. Okay. The cra what shit show. The crack is the eighth, ⁓ the eighth place was Godzilla and Kong. Congratulations, you won. You're doing great. Winning a lot of quizzes here, bud. Yeah, but now it's now I'm getting a feeling a little Canadian where I'm like, ⁓ no, now I don't want to I feel like I'm getting too many compliments and it's unbalanced. And I I it and it feels like the skills. So you know what? I don't want to compliment this week. I want you guys to spell my name this week. I wanna hear my name spelled, please. Pretty Kate. Mm-hmm. ⁓ And A T T E E exclamation point Exclamation Point Exclamation Point. Underline. Underline. Woo. Thank you. I made sure to say exclamation. Yeah, you nailed it, Kate. In honor of you, Big Dog. Thanks, Big Dog. Congratulations. ⁓ well, I give you guys both ⁓ gold medals for your performance on the quiz and friendship. And I would like to know if you'd like to give the actors in this movie some gold medals. Yes. Exactly who my gold is going to, and I don't know anything else about what's gonna happen here. So I'm ⁓ excited to see what happens. My bronze is going to the man. I can't believe he got he he's getting my bronze, but he is Javier Barak Dem, who played ⁓ that guy, I forget his name. lots of great exclamations from him, the seen Al Gayebe, ⁓ He did a lot of ex he was just hoping for a false prophet. He doesn't he doesn't care. He just wants some hope. My bronze, I'm splitting between Dave Batista and Florence Pugh. ⁓ I like her in this. I she is like a emperor's daughter, and she can bring that gravitas. And Dave Batista is the Baron's son who fails. And he's very angry and hateful, but he's also such a sad boy. And so I think he deserves. I don't know. I like Dave Batista. ⁓ I I'm so happy to see Dave Batista and I wish the best for him. He's one of the few actors who I wish the best for. I'm giving mine to Stellan Skarsgard. He's not in this one as much as he is in Dune One, but the moments that he is on screen, he is so gross. And creepy and scary and slick. And there's a whole scene where you just see the back of his head and he's still acting his ass off. So I'm I'ma give him I'm gonna give him the bronze medal for Still in Cigars Guard. Silver's. ⁓ Silver's going to Zendaya. She a big Zenday guy now. After this, she just told a story with her faces. My silver is Going to Austin Butler, who scared me, and I feel like this was more real than Elvis. Like I think this kid can act. I don't think he's just a pretty face. ⁓ also, I hated his character. So he's super gross in this movie. ⁓ I like I I don't like how he calls people pets. Like when he says it's like, is that your pet? I didn't like that one bit. It was so gross. And that's why he's getting my silver medal. I he makes me feel uncomfortable. That's the only way I can describe him as a human being in the world, Austin Butler, is like he makes me really uncomfortable. And so I'm totally biased against him. And that I think that goes to show how good he is at acting in this movie, that he's gonna get my silver medal, even though he makes me uncomfortable, even though I think he's kind of weird. He's just so good at this specific thing. Like he's he's Maybe the most believable out of all of them be like, I think he might be like that. Also, I think he looks kind of like a woman a little bit. He has beautiful, some beautiful features. ⁓ I have a note about what he looks like in this movie. It's a very niche and specific note, but he looks exactly like Youngblood with alopecia. I think he looks like powder. So does Youngblood? With alopecia. Gold medal, it's it's it's a it's an easy gold medal. It's a slam dunk. Congratulations. Youngblood looks like a Sarsgard. A Scarskard. He looks now picture Youngblood with alopecia. That one looks like Harkinin. Did you guys when he kisses Stellan Skarsgard back, did that give you the vibe like he just did that on the day? Because I that's the vibe I got. Like that was not in the script, but he's just so into being a Harkinin that he kissed him back. That's that's how I feel. Yeah. I was like, I'm a crazy guy. I'm just gonna kiss you a couple of times. Yeah. gold medal, congratulations to the twenty twenty-six New York Knicks and their biggest fan. Quartzai was Timothy Chalamet there for every game. God bless him. It's also if you find his holes out there in Iraq or somewhere because he acted his off, was out on him. Now I'm big in on him. Gold medal. That's a big deal. It's hard. I mean, that's a big deal for you to change like that. Cause you you stick ⁓ You stick you're loyal to your hating. Yeah. You're a hater loyalist. It just takes one amazing performance to to sway me. I think that should give us all hope. Mm-hmm. ⁓ my gold is going to Max Katie, Javier Bergem. I he his fierceness, intensity, and passion, the Spanishness of it. Mm-hmm. The ⁓ his like international, interplanetary, masculine energy. Whew. Great actor. Interpl in a interplanetary masculine energy. Yeah, that's I that's a perfect description. That's also why I'm giving him my gold medal. I think he steals this movie easily. He steals this movie. He's he's acting circles around i ⁓ everybody, and there's lots of great acting in this movie. He's like I I enjoy the film Dune One a lot more than Dune Two. Like I I will put on Dune One to like fall asleep sometimes just because I like the vibe of it. ⁓ and I like the pacing of it. It's I just think it's a way better movie. But Javier Bardon is so good in this movie that it's worth watching Dune 2 lots of times just to watch him, in my opinion. Like I everything he says just made me like smile and laugh and like fuck. At the end fight when Paul gets stabbed and it's like everybody is just Yeah. He's incredible in that scene. And everyone's just like holding their breath and then he like breaks out of it and starts the chant for Lisa Lizon Algae. He's the way he says it is just so like his the relief and the like because it's like you can see it's like his whole worldview is like on the razor's edge at that moment. Like, is he the chosen one or not? He's like ⁓ my god, thank God he is. He is it I w I was we were we were right. Let's go kill the universe. Woo Wow. Yeah, he's great. Wow. Would you guys like to give a rating to this movie? Yes. Script for this movie, Dune 2, based on the second part of the first novel in the Dune series by Frank Herbert. ⁓ one of the strangest and most interesting books ever written. And what did you guys think about the script for the film Dune 2? 10. I can't I can't get anything other than 10 because I don't know it the otherwise, and it's fascinating. I like the movie. I have a bias that I really think this should have been a TV show. I know I'm probably one of the only people in the world who thinks that. ⁓ because it made such a great ⁓ successful film. But it's sque it's too much, they're squeezing too much stuff into too short a period of time. So I'm going to talk at one point. It's probably the best you could do if you're like, we have to make the Dune book into two movies. They should have made it into three movies. It gets an eye. Because what's Dune Three? What's coming out in December? Is Dune Three is the next book, which is Dune Messiah, which is a better story for a single film. Like it's more contained enough to be done in one film. And it is kind of like that a trilogy, but there's just this world is so it like there's probably so much about this world that doesn't come across in the movie. Like, do you guys have any idea what the Butlerian jihad is? No. No. It's like that's like the reason they use spice is because like thousands of years before this movie takes place, humanity had built like a crazy AI and then it created this crazy war with all these AI. So there's like this law past that I knew that. Yeah, we're gonna destroy all the machines. ⁓ yeah, the Butler jihad. I knew that too. Yeah. Yeah, the Butler jihad. That's right. but like this this movie has no room to really like Get into any of that. It's just like it's put there to be like, you know, you can tell what's happening, but you don't know why or who or what and you don't know about like the how far deep the Benny Jessard are. He's really fleshed it out. That would have been a very easy problem to solve. Just have one of the Fremen that's were they were by the fire and they said this kind of reminds me of this. This kind of reminds me of the bot Larry NG house. I couldn't. I never bring it up. Never bring it up again. Do you guys remember when AI got too big and we had to kill it and then it tried to kill us and like we don't like technology? Yeah. The art direction for this film. The art direction for this film, the sets, the props, the costumes. On this I will happily give it ten. This movie looks incredible. Gorgeous. The cinematography is gorgeous. Like the ships look believable. Everything's still. I don't like the I I don't like the worms. I feel like we used to, I feel like there could there's too much digital. We should have used functional worms. Also, the worms are like the worst part of the story, in a way, to me, where it's like the riding of the worms. Even when I was reading the book, I'm like, they're not riding these worms. Like, what the fuck are you talking about? Like, come on. Yes, they are. Many scenes, many scenes where they're riding the worms. But that no what I'm saying is like I don't believe that part of the like I believe everything else about this movie, but the idea that you can like stand and like throw some hooks on the worm and then steer the worm around. I'm like, no, you can't do that. They're too big. So you believe in a bar-ride whale? ⁓ yeah. You believe in a baron that comes in at a black goo, but you don't ⁓ The edges because of the biolog biology of the worms. So that's why it doesn't go back into the sand. The algorithm video boy told me that too. I like the thought. That's good. But get its gills exposed so it doesn't want to go back into the sand. Sure. Okay. The music for this film. It's another Zimmer. We've had lots of Zimmer on this podcast. It's so good though. What a guy. It's a 10. I love it. It's a 10. The best thing they did was not play any music during the knife fight. That's such an intense scene. And I agree with you guys. I usually don't love a ⁓ dissonant soundtrack, a dissonant score. I'm like all the Nolan movies, I they're very intense and stuff like that, but it never it's never worked for me once. But the music in this slaps. And so that's a 10 for me. That's a big that's gonna be a big 10 for me. This is an epic space opera film. It's gotta be an epic space opera. I mean, I opera makes it so. I mean, that what does that even mean? It's quite the word. Yes. Yeah. It's quite the word. I'm gonna give it a 10, of course. It's epic, it's in space, and it is operatic. If you think about it, like ⁓ it's something like. Killing your grandfather is very like that happens in operas all the time. Killing your fat grandpa? No, that's like classic. Can I read it to you? Wikipedia says it's a subgenre of science fiction in science fantasy that emphasizes epic outer space adventures set in a universe in which faster than light travel has become common. Sure. So that's a 10 for me. I think it's a good thing I'm gonna give it a 10. I'm gonna give it a 10. I was gonna dock at a point, but after listening to Nate described the fat grandfather Doctor Who is a space opera. Star Wars, Star Trek. Fat grandfather in the Google Dead. Ten. Ten. ⁓ and then Kate, you're gonna start us off this month. It's it's it's Beaches and Oceans. Beaches and Ocean Month. This is a 10, and this is why. Because if you've got All of one of them, that's a 10. So you can be if we watched Waterworld, Water World would be a 10. So this is like Waterworld but beach and sand. So it's a 10. Okay, I like that. ⁓ Here's where I struggle. Because she she picked water movies as the category and said Titanic. No, no, no. I picked Titanic and then I made a category up. Okay. Okay. And then I had to fit my pivot next choice into the theme. Okay. And now I have relayed my thinking on why this would not get lower. Because you would think that you would want something with ocean and beach together, but and then I was I was moved by the water world argument because I'm like, no beach in water worlds, but in this I would probably give Waterworld a ten. So that did move me a bit, Kay. I'm gonna be honest with you. That did move me. Thank you. And we also did beachwater last July. I didn't say water, I said ocean. Okay. Okay. Okay. I will based on her criteria that I'm not quite sure about yet, I give it a ten. This was gonna be one or the other for me. It was gonna be a ten or a zero. And Kate, I gotta be honest. That's a ten, Kate. You did it with your water world argument. I'm giving the movie ten. This movie gets a forty-nine point seven. It only got docked one point for the script by me. I ruined the perfect score. That's fine. It's okay. It doesn't deserve a perfect score. I would have given Dune one a ten, because I think Dune one does a better job of telling the story and the pacing is better and blah blah blah I would shit on you, but your explanation of why you adopted makes sense. Plus, I'm a Dune Goon. I've read listen, I read all six of these books. I'm a Dune Goon. I read all si I I have not read any of the books written by his child. After Frank Herbert dies, Brian Herbert took over and started writing books. I haven't fucked with any of those, but I read all six books. There's 23 total dude books. I I just did that's a lot. I just did the six by Frank Herbert. It's To anybody listening, this story, if you think the fucking beginning of this story is crazy, this story goes ⁓ off the fucking rails in the best craziest way, ⁓ is good. I was thinking, I was thinking that when I was reading about the Butler jihad. I was like, this is going off the rails. Yeah. So the Butler and Jihad. Yeah, that's right. I keep on saying I keep on saying Butler Jans. The Austin Butler jihads. Brent, do you have a movie chosen for the next week? Well, I'm I was confused, but I have two. ⁓ and I'm gonna break it down for you this. Okay. We can since we can stick with the beach and water as the what Beach and Ocean. Beach and Ocean, and we can watch Captain Phillips. Or what I was gonna do for comedy's sake is that Kate picked ⁓ an ocean theme. Well, picked a desert movie. I was gonna say let's let's watch one that takes in his place in space, which would have been Star Wars A New Hope. Because I think it's time I dip my water my foot in the water of Star Wars. I've never seen anything. So I leave it to you two to pick a rewatching Star Wars A New Hope or Captain Phillips. So what's Star Wars and New Hope? That's that's the first Star Wars. Like that was ever made or The very first one ever made. I gotta I gotta be I gotta start being a Star Wars guy. Captain now. Okay. I have never seen Captain Phillips, so I would like to know what happens to make that guy be the captain now. This takes place in the ocean. Certainly does. Yeah, it does. I've never seen a new hope. I've never seen any Star Wars either. I mean, you would have been okay, Brent, because Luke Skywalker is of course born on the desert planet of Tatooine, commonly believed to be s kinda stolen from Dune. So you would have like you would have been in the right neighborhood, but that's he's only there for a bit and then they're straight to space, no water, no beach, no nothing. I'm missing out on a lot of pop culture references, a lot of accents, a lot of voices. I'm I'm being told. Yeah. I have to get we're gonna get Star Wars. We are gonna do that with you eventually. But next week we're gonna do Captain Phillips and we're gonna find out how he became the captain now. You're gonna you're gonna this is a good one. Okay. This is a good one. I'm looking forward to it. I you know how I I give thanks for Tom Hanks. That's me. Nope. He gets so traumatized. He does some good acting in this. I bet he's acted as butt off. The there's so many holes in the ocean from where Tom Hanks acted his off. Yeah. Got got a good. They're like, hey, is this a trench? Or no, that's Tom Hanks' hole because he acted it off in Captain Phillips. ⁓ well, two toot boats coming in next week, Captain Phillips. I like it so much because I never I never realized how they would how they would try to deter possible Boats coming too close to them, and what they do is quite interesting. Well, we'll find that out next week, along with a bunch of other Pyrafacts on the North America Friends Movie Club. And that means all that's left to do is Kate. Good night, Kate. Good night, Kate. Captain Phillips has been nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture of the Year. Five stars. Captain Phillips is a compassionate masterpiece. I'm the Captain Mell. Captain Phillips, buy it all. digital January twenty first. And I called him a Harkinin and I said that his girlfriend has to get a goo pit installed in their new house when they get one. And she's gonna get a a brewery to come in and install tubes and lines to keep them alive. I think that was a really well thought out diss. Yeah, I think you got his ass, Brent. I think you really got his ass for getting Scott's ass. Good job. Thank you.
