- 0:00SPEAKER_02: Hey, how's it going, everyone?
- 0:01SPEAKER_02: Tyler Dunne here at Golong.
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: Thank you so much for subscribing to golongtd.com and inside the Substack app.
- 0:10SPEAKER_02: This is our sixth season of Let's keep this thing growing.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: And going strong into 2026.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: Right now,
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: subscribers can check out my long form piece on CJ Stroud
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: and learn why there is nobody in the entire league facing more pressure than
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: that quarterback of the Houston Texans.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: Talk to sources inside the building.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: Coaches who have had him in that same quarterback room, in those same offensive meetings.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: Players.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: And we, as always,
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: look back to those Hall of Famers,
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: Kurt Warner,
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: Warren Moon,
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: some excellent insight into how this player looked so good in 2023
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: and did not look like the same quarterback in 24.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: Did not look like the same quarterback in 25.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: How in the hell can C.J.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: Stroud get it back?
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: It would behoove C.J.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Stroud to do so because if he does,
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: he might make himself $60 million a year and he might hoist
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: a Lombardi trophy this season with this team and a defense that is unlike any in
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: the league.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: Let's just say they may have cracked the code on one Patrick Mahomes
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: and shared their findings with the rest of the NFL.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: Make sure you check it out.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: A ton of insight in there for you on this podcast right here.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: I'm joined by Jarrett Bailey and Todd Haley of the Pump Fake Podcast.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: They were awesome.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: Of course,
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: Jarrett covers the NFL for SB Nation and does a lot of great work in
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: the podcast world.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: Todd Haley.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: Long-time wide receivers coach, offensive coordinator, head coach with the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: Coached the offense there in Ben Roethlisberger with the Pittsburgh Steelers
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: and does a hell of a job on Sirius XM today.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: Also works in the UFL.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: The man does it all.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: He's got so many stories to share.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: We get into everything from Aaron Rodgers and what we can expect out
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: of him this season on the field, off the field.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: The Tennessee Titans, why Jarrett loves those Titans fans.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: Kyler Murray and the Minnesota Vikings.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: What's going to happen there?
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: Houston with CJ Stroud.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: And hey, Josh Allen right there with the Buffalo Bills.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: Is this the year that he gets to and wins a Super Bowl?
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: Stick around to the end.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: You'll learn a lot.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: You'll laugh.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: You'll cry.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: You'll have a great old time.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: Let's get right to it.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: Here is Todd Haley, Jared Bailey, right here on the Go Long Podcast.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean, yes, I agree with Todd.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: People are pretty awful in general.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: I will say this, though,
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: on my trip out here to Minnesota,
- 3:23SPEAKER_02: I was very, very pleased with the gate agents at both Buffalo, the Buffalo Delta.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: So this is like 5 a.m. and then my Detroit connection.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: They were not taking any shit, man.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: Like people were,
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: they were calling for zone two and people from zone three and four were trying
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: to get in.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: And they're on the mic saying, if you are not in zone two, go sit down.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: And there was some spunk.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: There was some attitude.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: I loved it.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: I loved it.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: You got to put these people in their places.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: That sounds like a flight.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Any flight going to New York,
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: New Jersey, Newark, JFK, they line up before they've even called a zone.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: And I just sit there and I seethe at how mad I am at all the people.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: Oh, man.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: And then, I don't know, let's go around the horn then.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: Your number one pet peeve while traveling.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: Everybody knows mine.
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: It's the deplaning budger that doesn't follow row by row order.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: They try to nudge ahead of you.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: I've kind of gotten in the habit of giving them an elbow in the sternum if I can.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: But let's hear it from Jared and Todd.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Jared, go ahead.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: You go first.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: I literally tweeted the other day that we need more like adult only public places.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: And like 75% of people I think were like, oh yeah, that's a great idea.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: And like the 25% took it like way too seriously and got super angry at me
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: and like accused me of hating children.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: I don't hate children.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: I hate screaming kids and parents that can't control their children.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: That bugs the hell out of me.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: So every time I go into a public place,
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: I feel like I hear a screaming baby and was like,
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: my God, man, we just need, we need some.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Have you ever been on a plane, Jared?
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: Yes, I've been on a plane, Todd.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Luckily, I've been pretty good at avoiding babies on planes, which has been good.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: But one flight back from Mobile a few years ago from the Senior Bowl, yeah, I did not get lucky.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: And I remember me, and shout out to Mike K, who covers the Panthers at ESPN.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: Him and I were sitting next to each other.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: We kind of just gave each other a look.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: We're like, oh, no.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: There was a baby on the plane.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: And for the hour and a half flight, we listened to it.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: Headphones.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Headphones.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: Headphones.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you want some time?
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, let's
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: get Todd's.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: Let's get Todd's.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: When a woman over the age of 60,
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: he takes her shoes off and has bare feet and puts it up on the seat in front of me.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: No, can't do it for four hours.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: Eventually you have to crack and you have to say something and
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: then you're getting duct tape duct tape to a seat.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: Did you say something?
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: When did this happen?
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Uh, years ago, but she put her grody feet up there with just thick toenails.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: how as people get older,
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: their toenails get worse and worse and put it right on the seat that I like,
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: I'm already trying to save room because I'm tall.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: I've got long legs and, and if somebody leans their seat back, I'm already ticked off.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: But, uh,
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: with somebody putting their bare foot up in front of me,
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: eventually I'm like, this is my area.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: Can you please move your foot?
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: How was it received?
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: The way I expected.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, before we knew what a Karen was, she was a Karen.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: I would also like to throw out the notion of people talking on speakerphone in public.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: That drives me insane.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: That's a bad one, too.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: And it's right when the plane lands, making the call that they landed.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: Where they're gonna be,
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: setting up the meetings, tell this person, we don't give a, we don't care.
- 6:55SPEAKER_02: Shut the
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: hell up.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: When you're a football coach on a way to a game,
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: to play a game that's meaningful and a player isn't wearing headphones
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: and has their speakerphone on,
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: yes, I've gotten up many times and I said, hey, you know, that's enough.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: We're getting ready for a game here.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: And you're talking to like a four-year-old that's just like babbling.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I agree with that one, Jared.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: Good, I'm glad.
- 7:21SPEAKER_02: Solid takes all around.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: That's how you start a 2026 NFL preview episode here.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: So we made it.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: Six months of mostly nonsense and filler.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: And we all have to write about it.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: We all have to talk about it over the offseason.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: But isn't it nice, guys, to have some games finally?
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we did our week one full preview episode today.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: It was fun to just kind of go game by game and talk about things
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: that are actually going to happen and teams that are fully in place rather
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: than projecting.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: And I guess there's some projecting with it, but, you know, hypotheticals and whatnot.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: It's nice to actually,
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: you know, talk about games that just happened, games that are going to happen.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we actually have football in the air.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: It's nice.
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: That's what I should say as well.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: This is the Pump Fake Podcast, too.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: Jared Bailey, Todd Haley.
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: They need no introduction, but yes.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Long-time NFL head coach, assistant coach, Sirius XM, UFL.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: You know my buddy Jim Monas in that world,
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: Todd Haley,
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: and obviously Jared Bailey does a great job of pissing off Pat McAfee,
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: so that's a good thing.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: Apparently, yeah.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: That's your bio now.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: That's your bio blast.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: I feel like I cut off, Todd.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: What were you saying, Todd?
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: Jared, you still don't have your Steeler magnet helmet floating in the air behind you.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: What's going on?
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: I come into the office and I just get in business mode and I forget to turn it on.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: I literally have the little thing right here to make it happen and I continue
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: to forget to do it.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: I just kind of fidget with it.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Steeler's got a big game.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: You better get that thing going, man.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: Don't worry.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: It will be.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: It will be.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: I promise.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: What do we think about the Pittsburgh Steelers, guys?
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: I guess they're trying to win.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: I don't know if that's the best idea with this roster and this quarterback.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Ty, I'll fill you in.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: When we did our playoff picks,
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: as much as I love the Steelers,
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, my father played for them, drafted great Hall of Famers.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: I was a ball boy.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: I coached for them for six years.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: Jared's got them in the playoffs.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: I don't have men this year.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: I think it's a nine and seven.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: How many would it have to be?
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Nine and eight?
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Nine and eight year?
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we kind of went back and forth on it.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: And throughout the offseason,
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't say that we've clashed when it comes to Pittsburgh,
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: but I've been of the mindset that, all right, a change is refreshing.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: I think that Mike McCarthy will bring a little bit of a refresh.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: I don't see a reason why they won't be at least as good as they've been, you know, 23, 24, 25.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: But we'll see.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: Sunday's going to be already weird.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: They're facing the Falcons' third quarterback.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: I feel like there's a greater than zero chance Matt Ryan decides to suit up
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: and just come out of the front office.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: Be like, yeah, what the hell?
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: Phillip Rivers did it, I'll do it.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: He did a training camp, right?
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: He had to go down and throw the ball a bit.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: So I'm high on the Steelers.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: I know that they've kind of been the,
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: I don't know,
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: everybody in our profession has kind of given them
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: a metaphorical noogie all offseason.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: But I'm high on them.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: I think that they have a playoff ceiling.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't say a Super Bowl ceiling,
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: but I wouldn't have said the Patriots or Seahawks had
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: a Super Bowl ceiling this time last year either.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: So I'll allow myself to drink the Kool-Aid and hope to be surprised.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Ty, he also has the Tennessee Titans make it into the playoffs.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: Just so you know what you're dealing with.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: But I think the Steelers are probably better on paper than they were last year.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: But, you know, it's a year older Aaron Rodgers, who I love.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: But there's a lot of new.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: And, you know, Joey Porter Jr., how's that all?
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: You know, is he going to suit up and just go out there and ball out?
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of unknown with the Steelers.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: And I've been saying I wouldn't be shocked if they won eight.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't be shocked if they won 10 and I fell in
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: the middle feeling like I think it's probably like a nine win season.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: I get it.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: Like there weren't many other quarterback options.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: I mean, I would just blow Malik Willis away with the deal.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: Anything but rolling back Aaron Rodgers at 41, 42, just playing his game, waiting forever.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: We, I mean, we have to touch on like the podcast appearances, don't we?
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: That's heard around the world at, Look,
- 11:50SPEAKER_02: he even brought up one of the stories I wrote on the Cam Hayward podcast
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: and was ripping Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley out of nowhere again.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: Bitter and irrelevant players.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: I will say this.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: It was unbelievably entertaining.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: I love the fact that he doesn't give a shit and is saying everything that's on his mind.
- 12:08SPEAKER_02: Bring it on.
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: I mean, we should ask that out of every athlete that does a podcast appearance
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: and interview all the time.
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: So it's great.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: I watched part one, part two, and I wanted more.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: I wanted a part three.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: But I will ask you guys this question.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: How about his dating life?
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: Did you enjoy all those?
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's what we're getting to.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: That's my question for you guys.
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: If if you were engaged to somebody and they asked you if they could have earmuffs,
- 12:38SPEAKER_02: kids,
- 12:38SPEAKER_02: if you're listening at home and they asked you,
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: you know, can I just have sex with this other guy here before we get married?
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: I mean, A, would you allow it?
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: But B, I think the big question here is, would you tell the world?
- 12:52SPEAKER_02: I don't think I would tell the world if that happened.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: It's not an avenue I would explore publicly.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Let's be clear here, Ty.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Me, you, Jared, we're not Aaron Rodgers.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: So what I appreciate,
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: I got to know Aaron a little bit through the years out in Tahoe specifically.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: I really like him.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: He walks to the beat of a different drum and he does not give an F about anything.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: And you, me,
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: and Jared,
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: if we were in those shoes with MVPs under our belt and Super Bowl wins,
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: I don't blame him.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: Go out there, say whatever you want.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: I don't care.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: If I was in his shoes, though, I probably would have done exactly what he did.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: I don't think I would have opened up too much about it,
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: but yeah, I wouldn't be comfortable with that.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: I think that, if anything, that would make me a bit self-conscious.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: Like, why would you want to do that?
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Then I'd really be thinking- You're not Aaron Rodgers, Jarrett.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: That's my point.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: If any one of us three were Aaron Rodgers,
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: we could sit here and just say whatever we wanted to say to get a rise out
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: of anybody we wanted to get a rise out of and just go on.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, you got,
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: but you're, I mean, you don't even have your steeler helmets spinning right now.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: Stuck on the steel helmet spinning.
- 14:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: It doesn't portray himself in the best of lights, I suppose.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: Obviously, you call off the wedding.
- 14:19SPEAKER_02: You're done at that point.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: I don't think he cares.
- 14:21SPEAKER_02: He doesn't care.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: He doesn't care.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Certain people get to a level where they don't have to care a whole bunch.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: I actually respect the lack of caring when anybody thinks.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: I did too.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: And I thought that, look,
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: regardless of what anybody thinks of vaccination things or whatever,
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: personally,
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: I could not care less what Aaron Rodgers thinks about vaccinations or what he does
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: with his body.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: It has no effect on me.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: I can appreciate the fact, like you said, Todd, he doesn't care.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: He'll tell you what he thinks.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: And that's perfectly okay with me.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: Every time that Cam just kind of lobbed him a question and was like, just talk about it.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: I thought, hey, good job by Cam.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: He'll have a long career in media doing that.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: But B, as somebody who isn't a very political guy because I also think it's a sham,
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: hearing him say, yeah, politics are all a work.
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: I was like, you know what?
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: I'm on board with you, Aaron.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: Keep doing as many podcasts as you want to do.
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: I had the same reaction.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: He ripped the left.
- 15:20SPEAKER_02: He ripped the right.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: I thought he made a few good points in there.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: Like you said, wherever you stand,
- 15:25SPEAKER_02: anything because – The whole immunization thing, he was misleading everybody.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: He knew what he was doing.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: He could have gone the Kirk Cousins route,
- 15:33SPEAKER_02: just owned it from day one, and nobody would have given a damn.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: There was a handful of quarterbacks who went that route.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: I think Wentz was one of those who was like, yeah, I didn't get that.
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: Lamar Jackson, I want to say too.
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: Oh, I think you might be right.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: I don't want to put words in his mouth, but I think that's correct.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:52SPEAKER_02: The wordplay,
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: I think,
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: is what pissed people off,
- 15:54SPEAKER_02: but Aaron Rodgers isn't wrong when he alludes to the fact that
- 15:59SPEAKER_02: because he feels this certain way and believes certain things,
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: most of the media will smell blood.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: Like that's just the nature of the, we're in the business.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: He might enjoy it.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: He might enjoy it.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: I am apolitical.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: My father taught me at a very young age to the disdain of my girlfriend,
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: Heather, who likes to talk politics.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: And every time she brings it up, I'm like, I ain't talking about it.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: My bad when I was seven said, don't talk politics ever.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: As a coach, you never talk about religion.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: You never talk about politics.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: So He got beat up pretty good.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: And you could say, well, he brought it upon himself.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: But anything he said at that point in that day and age and all the weird,
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: crazy things that were going on in the world,
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: he was going to get beat up no matter what.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: I mean, he didn't want to let somebody put something in his body, and I respect that.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, no means no, right?
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: He turned heel, embraced the role, and hasn't looked back, and I respect it.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: As a quarterback, what does he still have to offer?
- 17:05SPEAKER_02: He admits it himself.
- 17:07SPEAKER_02: He can't move like
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: he once moved, but his mind is sharp.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: His arm's still pretty good.
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: They added some pieces around him.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: Todd, if you're coaching Aaron Rodgers right now, how would you design an offense?
- 17:18SPEAKER_02: How would you call plays and get the most out of him at this point of his career?
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: Well, I think that's going to be the really interesting thing with the Steelers.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: Mike McCarthy and he, obviously, they had a little falling out.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: But as far as knowing each other,
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: knowing the terminology,
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: signals,
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: all those things, I mean, it's going to be very seamless, in my opinion, for Aaron.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: And now the other players are going to have to get on board.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, they got Michael Pittman Jr.'s,
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: you know, got to pick it up fast, which it sounds and looks like he has.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: This guy, you said his arms okay.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: I think he still throws it at a premier level.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: I really do.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: He can't move and escape like he used to be able to.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: So that's a hindrance, obviously.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: But as far as cerebral play, I don't know.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: With Tom Brady retired,
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: with Peyton Manning retired,
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: with Drew Brees retired,
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: I don't think there's a more cerebral guy at the line of scrimmage as far
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: as getting you in the right play,
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: cadence,
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: handling all the things that come up that only if you've had a ton
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: of experience doing it,
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: you know, you can handle every situation that is thrown at you.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I think from that standpoint, you can still throw it, you know, so...
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: You're going to make really good decisions.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: So now who are the players around you, I think is the key.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: You know, how much does Michael Pittman Jr. bring to the mix along with D.K.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: ?
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Is the running game good enough?
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: Is the offensive line, which I think is going to be, you know, it was better last year.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: I think it'll be better, but I think, you know, it really comes down to that supporting cast.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: If he has it,
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: if the defense,
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: Jared thinks the defense is going to be better than it's been in three
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: or four years.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: I don't know yet.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: I mean, I like the pieces.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: I'm a little worried about the Joey Porter situation,
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: but if the supporting cast is good,
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: I think Aaron Rodgers is going to go out and succeed and win a bunch of games
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: or be part of winning a bunch of games.
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: It's a great point on his arm.
- 19:25SPEAKER_02: I think it was Glover Quinn on our show last week.
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: He played with Matthew Stafford in his Lions days.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: And he said, Matthew Stafford, his arm, it's like running a 4-2 as a DB.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: As you age, you're slowing to a 4-3 and a 4-4.
- 19:40SPEAKER_02: You're still going to be really damn fast.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: Aaron Rodgers' arm was the strongest in the NFL at his peak.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: So even if it is getting a little bit worse and a little bit worse,
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: it's still going to be better than most in the NFL.
- 19:52SPEAKER_02: And that's something you have to lean on.
- 19:54SPEAKER_02: But they didn't throw the ball deep a lot last year, right, Jarrett?
- 19:56SPEAKER_02: That wasn't really part of their offense.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: So that's why I kind of vacillate on this.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean,
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: there were,
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that anytime that there was pressure,
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: or at least anytime Aaron would sense pressure,
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: he would usually get rid of the ball quickly or kill the play,
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: and that kind of put a hard ceiling on what they could do.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: When they did throw the ball deep, though, I mean, he showcased an ability.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: Pretty close to the bottom of the list when it comes to Aaron.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: And the game against,
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: the first game against Cincinnati on Thursday night and on the last play
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: the game, I mean,
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: he threw the ball damn near 70 yards
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: and it looked like he probably could have thrown it more on that Hail Mary attempt.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: So the arm talent,
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: the arm strength,
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: that's not the worry when we're talking about Aaron at this stage of his career.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: It's if there's pressure, how does he handle it?
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: Is he just going to throw plays right away?
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: Does he have any sort of ability to Extend,
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: create, and let the play develop in the face of pressure.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: That's kind of the biggest thing that they're going to have to probably work around.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: I agree with that, Jared.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: And what I will be watching very closely,
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: we saw Russell Wilson with the Steelers,
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: with the Giants, and I felt self-preservation come into play with him.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: His arm was not the issue.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: He was now, hey...
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: I want to move on to TV or whatever I'm doing.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: I want to play a couple more years.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: But if you're not 100% in, you're not in.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: You've retired.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: You just haven't announced it.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: So, you know,
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: I think we're seeing it with Tua last year and what we're seeing kind
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: of this progression into the regular season for the Falcons.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: I feel like this is my opinion.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: I don't know that I'm right, but I feel like Tua's retired and hasn't Told anybody yet.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, he wants to be out there, but he really doesn't.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: So if we see Aaron Rodgers standing in there early,
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: taking a couple shots from the defense, I think I'm good.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: I think this guy with a supporting cast can win a bunch of games.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: Can he win 12 games?
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: You got to tell me how good the defense is, how good the running game is.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: But that's what I'll be looking for.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: I want to see him.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: You know, I don't want to see him chuck duck, you know, just self-preservation mode.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: You know, he's always been a tough guy.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: You got to be smart, obviously, but that's what I'll be looking
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: for.
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: You know what, Todd?
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: You make a great point on Tua Tungabaioli.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: I had heard whispers that the Atlanta Falcons were a little fed up
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: with his commitment level earlier in this summer.
- 22:50SPEAKER_02: I didn't really know what to make of it, but now we're kind of seeing it come to fruition here.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: Part of me doesn't blame Tua, all the brain trauma he's been through.
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: He got paid, got the contract.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: He's set for life.
- 23:02SPEAKER_02: His family's set for life.
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: He's on vet minimum.
- 23:06SPEAKER_02: If you don't have that burning desire deep within you to stick it to your doubters
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: and prove that you're a starting quarterback, you're naturally going to coast.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, you probably have seen that in players at all positions through your career.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and with the money these days, absolutely.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, I've seen it.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: I've recognized it as a coach,
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: assistant coach,
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: coordinator, head coach, where you're like, this guy, you know, he's not all in.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, he just isn't.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: And again, I'm on the outside.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: I don't know,
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: but what I saw at the tail end of Miami season last year,
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: and then he got benched, but it didn't look right.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: It didn't look like somebody that was fighting till the end.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: I think we're going to,
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: This is a totally different situation,
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: but Josh Allen, man, Jared's a favorite player in the NFL right now.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: Right, Jared?
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: You'll throw Ty in there, too.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: If I had to guess, Ty's right on the Josh Allen.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: He's dealing with having to go play this Texans defense,
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: which I think if the Texans can win it all,
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: they're going to go down in history with the 85 Bears,
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: the 2000 Ravens, and some of those teams.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: He's got to go put his face right in the fans.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: Josh Allen.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I don't know what's going to happen in this game.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: He struggled against the Texans, but you're not going to see any back down.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: And when you start to see back down, you start to see somebody in that.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: Protection mode, self preservation mode.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: It's very, it's very alarming.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: So that's why with Aaron, who I really like, and I mean, he's an unbelievable player.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: And to me,
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: the times I've been around him,
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: unbelievable dude,
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: comes out to you before the game, after the game, very, you know, cerebral guy.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: If he looks like he's out there to be out there and lead the team,
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: then I think good things will happen.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: I had to write it down.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: I love the analogy there for the Houston Texans defense.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: Sticking your face in the fan.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: That's really what it is.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: You got to put your face, nose first, right in there.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: Imagine what that would feel like.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: Good God.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Everybody's got something dirty about their job.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, I coached receivers for eight years,
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: and you try to convince those guys who are kind of divas,
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: you know, they think they're a little, they're just pass catchers.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: You got to tell them to go block Ronnie Lott or Steve Atwater or, you know, whoever it is.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: I mean, everybody's got something dirty about their job.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: You got to stick your face in the fan.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: Oh, give us an example, Ty.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: Who's the receiver you had that you really had to harden,
- 25:42SPEAKER_02: coach up, and get to that place of physicality?
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, my God.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: There's so many.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Like Antonio Brown, we just said, just run around every play.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: We didn't even want him to bother going in there and blocking anybody.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: so some guys,
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: you just say,
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: hey, we're calling this run, but you're going to run a skinny post or go.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: AB was one of those, and,
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: he was not one that was – and he wasn't built for it,
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: but –
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: You do always say that Darius Hayward Bay was a guy
- 26:17SPEAKER_01: that always got his face dirty and didn't mind it.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, but I didn't have to convince him.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, that was easy.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: Ty's asking for somebody.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: Maybe Larry Fitzgerald, who,
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: when I got to Arizona,
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: was kind of on a losing team with big stats,
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: wasn't fully committed to the entire offense, I guess you could say.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: And...
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: as I convinced him,
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: and I think he said this in the Hall of Fame celebration,
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: a month ago,
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: that he was very appreciative and he understood and he appreciated that,
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: going in there and making a big block was just as important as making a play
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: that shows up on ESPN.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: So, you know, maybe Larry, you know, now that he's got a gold jacket, I might say Larry.
- 27:05SPEAKER_02: Well, we got to credit Todd Haley for that gold jacket then.
- 27:07SPEAKER_02: That was the pivotal moment of his career of selflessness.
- 27:11SPEAKER_02: Because you think Larry Fitzgerald, you think selflessness.
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: You think doing it for the team.
- 27:15SPEAKER_02: And that's what blocking as a receiver is all about.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: It's tough to convince some of those guys to go put their face in the fan.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: I'll tell you that.
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: Man, yeah, that's the truth.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: Is there a game that sticks with you?
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: To this day, Todd, like from, I'm just, it pops to mind.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: I covered your Steelers-Jags game,
- 27:39SPEAKER_02: and that's a Steelers team I really felt like could have gone the distance,
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: just on the outside looking in.
- 27:47SPEAKER_02: Did you guys feel like you were the better team that day on the field?
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: Against the Jags?
- 27:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: our defense wasn't,
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: but our offense wasn't either because we,
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: you know, we gave them a few points on offense.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: that game came down to I think there were like three fourth and ones,
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: three third and ones that we kind of gave,
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: you know, we gave Ben a menu of here's the plays.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: We can run it.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: We can pass it.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: We want to be right.
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: And none of them worked out.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: And then we had a pass interference that wasn't called on Juju that would have been
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: a big play because we got back in the game and,
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: uh, You know, it just, it comes down to situational football.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: We saw it,
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: a couple nights ago with Seattle,
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: fourth and one,
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: probably the biggest play of the game, other than maybe the goal line stand.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: But who do they throw the football to?
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: JSN.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: What's he do?
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: He runs away from everybody and he scores a touchdown.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: So, you know, in those situations, it's about, Who are your best players?
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: How do we get the ball in their hands?
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: And in that game, you know, we did it a bunch.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, Le'Veon made some great play.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: I mean, we had a really good offense.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: Our defense had aged out a little bit and was still trying to come back a little bit.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: If we had the Steelers defense from,
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: 2010, 9, 8, wherever, I mean, we would have dominated the league, I believe.
- 29:20SPEAKER_02: I want to give Jared the floor now.
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: I haven't forgot about you, Jared.
- 29:23SPEAKER_02: Tennessee Titans.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: Let's hear it.
- 29:25SPEAKER_01: I was just down
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: there in Nashville.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, let's go.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: Pound the table.
- 29:28SPEAKER_00: Pound the table.
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: Pound the table.
- 29:29SPEAKER_02: Because I get it.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: It was ugly in practice even, let alone the exhibition games.
- 29:35SPEAKER_02: But I think Brian Dable.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: He's going to make life hard for Cam Ward.
- 29:40SPEAKER_02: I think that's a good thing.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: I'd rather a coach make life hard for your quarterback than juicy fruit, sugar high gum.
- 29:49SPEAKER_02: Oh, let's do everything that makes you happy.
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: Pat on the butt.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: Hey, don't worry.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: Everything's okay.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: Go ahead, Jared.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: Let's hear why you got the Tennessee Titans.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, man,
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: like every year there's at least one of those teams that everybody overlooks,
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: doesn't expect much from, and then they don't just surprise.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, they make the postseason.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: We've seen it.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: We saw it two years ago with Washington and Jaden Daniels rookie year.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: We saw it last year with, I mean,
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: New England making a run all the way to the Super Bowl a year
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: after only winning three or four games.
- 30:19SPEAKER_01: Same thing with Chicago.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: I think they have the right brain trust that they've brought in.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: I think that Saul is one of those guys who I think will do better
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: in his second time around the job.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: I think he's learned a lot from his time being in New York.
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: Defensively, they're going to be better by default.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: We know how good of a defensive mind Saul is.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: I like the players that they've brought in.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: John Franklin Myers, Alante Taylor, Cordell Flott.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: So they've brought in some respectable names on that side of the ball.
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: And offensively, Cam Ward, that's going to be the key to everything, right?
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: And I think Brian Dable is the right guy to have there.
- 30:52SPEAKER_01: He's a proven floor raiser and ceiling raiser at quarterback.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: I mean, to this day, Josh Allen's, what, two best seasons.
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: We talked about it, Ty.
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: Two best seasons.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: He goes to the Giants then and helps take Daniel Jones to the postseason.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: Still, statistically speaking, the best season of Daniel Jones' career.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: They win a road playoff game that year in Minnesota.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: And even last year,
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: I know that they blew some games late,
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: but Jackson Dart was playing good football with Brian Dable.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: So I think there's a proof of concept there with him as the offensive coordinator.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: I think it's fair to point out that it could be a candle burn at both ends because
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: that tends to be what happens with Brian Dable is
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: that these relationships don't last long.
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: But I think the 2026 Titans will see a jump from Cam Ward.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: He has actual receivers to throw the ball to in Cardinals.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: Tate, Wandale Robinson.
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: The biggest question is going to be the offensive line.
- 31:42SPEAKER_01: Can it just be a good enough unit to keep him clean and let things develop?
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: But I think coaching wise,
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: the upgrades that they have on the roster,
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: the division that they play into an extent,
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: like I think Jacksonville take a little bit of a step back.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: I think Indianapolis is there's a very high variance team there in Indianapolis.
- 31:58SPEAKER_01: So I think all those factoring in Tennessee can be a team that surprises a lot of people.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: You know what Robert Salah's teams are going to look like too?
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: Defensively, they're going to finish.
- 32:10SPEAKER_02: They're going to hit.
- 32:11SPEAKER_02: Cornerbacks are going to tackle.
- 32:13SPEAKER_02: The edges are going to hustle through the echo of the whistle.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: All those little things I feel like will keep them in
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: games they have no business playing in.
- 32:23SPEAKER_02: I don't have them in the playoffs,
- 32:24SPEAKER_02: but I think the Titans are on the right path, win seven or eight games possibly.
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: And if, you know, a Jaguars, Colts, they have an injury or two and take a step back.
- 32:34SPEAKER_02: Why the hell not?
- 32:35SPEAKER_02: Why not?
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: I think if they're playing, if they're playing meaningful football in December,
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: that's a hell of a first year for, for solid company.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: And I think that that's certainly on the table.
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: I think there's the key right there.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: Um, Does Robert Sala look like the defensive coordinator to get him
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: the initial opportunity with the Jets?
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: Or got him this opportunity as a coordinator for San Fran?
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: That's the guy I want to see.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: I don't want to see this stoic guy that you see no emotion.
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: if I see that same Robert Saleh I saw last year,
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: you know, I'll feel pretty good about it.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: Obviously,
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: Cam Ward's going to be a big piece in this puzzle,
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: you know, but I think the key is Robert Saleh.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 33:20SPEAKER_00: I don't want to,
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: you know, he went as a defensive coordinator when he got the job at the Jets.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: He was emotional.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: You saw fire, you know, running down the sideline and all those different things.
- 33:31SPEAKER_00: And then all of a sudden he becomes the head coach of the Jets.
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: And it's like he was just a pylon out there, you know, an orange cone, you know.
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: So and then he goes back to San Fran and he looked like Robert Saleh again,
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: running up and down the sideline, firing everybody up.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: I think that's important for him and especially a defensive minded coach.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: I mean, you better have, you know, a little gumption As we'd say in Pittsburgh, Jared.
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's a big word in Pittsburgh, gumption.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: I want to see that, Robert Sala.
- 34:00SPEAKER_00: And if we do, I think, though, they'll have a chance to be really competitive.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: Are they making the playoffs?
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: No, in my opinion.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: I know that hurts you, but we'll see what happens.
- 34:12SPEAKER_02: Because players are going to take on the personality of their coach.
- 34:15SPEAKER_02: Is that your point?
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: If he's himself, he's authentic.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: He's going crazy.
- 34:19SPEAKER_02: How do guys feed off of that?
- 34:22SPEAKER_02: Because, I mean, Todd, you were an assistant coach.
- 34:24SPEAKER_02: You were a coordinator.
- 34:25SPEAKER_02: You were a head coach.
- 34:26SPEAKER_02: You've done it all.
- 34:27SPEAKER_02: How do you quantify what you're hitting on here?
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: I think what you said, authenticity.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: I think that's the key thing.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, yeah,
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: you can't be a nut job out there by any means,
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: but the players feed off of you as a coach,
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: whether you're position coach, coordinator, head coach.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: I mean, if they believe and trust that you're all in,
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: kind of like we were talking about Tua or Aaron Rodgers,
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: If they believe you're all in and all you care about is them being
- 34:55SPEAKER_00: the best they can possibly be,
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: you're generally going to get results if you have good enough players.
- 34:59SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I just, like I said, I like Robert Sala.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: he's well connected within this little younger group of coaches
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: that were all roommates, the floor, him and all those guys.
- 35:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, you got to go out there and be him.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: He can't try to be something else.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: I fought that a little bit my first year in Kansas City.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: Cause I've been with Parcells for eight years and people would sit in
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: the meeting coaches that I had to say, you sounded just like Parcells.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, well, that, that may not be a good thing.
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: You know, I don't want to be Bill Parcells.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: I want to be Todd Haley, you know, and I think Robert solid just has to be Robert solid.
- 35:38SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 35:39SPEAKER_02: That's, that's such a great point.
- 35:40SPEAKER_02: I mean, is there a, I mean, you guys just did your preview show at the Pump Fake, correct?
- 35:45SPEAKER_02: So we want to send people there.
- 35:47SPEAKER_02: Imagine all your prognostications in full YouTube channel, Apple, Spotify, everybody out there.
- 35:54SPEAKER_02: Make sure you watch the Pump Fake, Jared and Todd.
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: You guys are awesome.
- 35:58SPEAKER_02: I love to go in on your show, bantering on Kyler Murray.
- 36:01SPEAKER_02: I like the Vikings.
- 36:02SPEAKER_02: They're my sneaky dark horse.
- 36:04SPEAKER_02: I got him in the divisional round, went in 11-12 games.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: Hey, Jared zigzagged so many times, Ty.
- 36:14SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm like, you can't put it out there in print and then change your prediction.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that has been the biggest thing is the Vikings.
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: Tyler Murray has some zigzagging, though, I'll tell you that.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, we had Ty on our show.
- 36:26SPEAKER_01: I went on Matthew Collier's show and,
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: talked about the Vikings and just hearing it from Ty, hearing it from Matt.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, my goodness.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: Like, and seeing what they did last year,
- 36:34SPEAKER_01: winning nine games with, you know, some really bad quarterback play.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: Like, maybe I am sleeping on the Vikings.
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: I did put it in print.
- 36:41SPEAKER_01: I had them as a nine-win team, so that's what is going to be referenced as it should.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: If I put my name on something, I got to stick to it.
- 36:47SPEAKER_01: But if there is one team that I would put at the top of the list
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: of teams I'm probably too low on, it's Minnesota.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: I love the coaching staff.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: I love what Brian Flores is going to bring to the table on defense.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: We know what he's going to bring to that side of the ball.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: You know, we've seen with that offense, they don't need Kyler to be a top 10 guy.
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: They just need him to be,
- 37:05SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 37:06SPEAKER_01: similar to what we've said, Todd, about like the Bengals and Cowboys defense.
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: If they're just league average, then that's great.
- 37:11SPEAKER_01: And I think that if that's what Kyler Murray is from Minnesota,
- 37:14SPEAKER_01: then they're going to be perfectly fine.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: So, yeah,
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: I think at the end of the year,
- 37:19SPEAKER_01: it's certainly possible that I'm going to have a little bit of egg on my face
- 37:22SPEAKER_01: for being too low on the Vikings.
- 37:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I lump the Bengals and the Cowboys together because they both have good offenses.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: I believe they'll be good offenses.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: And the defense just has to be midline, you know, somewhere in there.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: I think the Cowboys might even be better than midline when it's all said and done.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: And I kind of lump Minnesota in the opposite group, as you said.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, I just they're really talented.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: I love the defense.
- 37:54SPEAKER_00: But, you know, Ty's a big Kyler guy.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: I get it.
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: I just, I see clips of him in practice and I just, I hate small quarterbacks.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: He's really talented.
- 38:05SPEAKER_00: What is the ball gonna go to Justin Jefferson?
- 38:08SPEAKER_00: That's my biggest question.
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: Can he throw from the pocket?
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: Because that's how Justin Jefferson's get balls and targets.
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, AB would get 15, 20 targets.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: Justin Jefferson needs 15 to 20 targets every single game.
- 38:25SPEAKER_00: And that goes back to Seattle the other night with JSN and
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: the most critical situation, throw the ball to your best guy.
- 38:31SPEAKER_00: But if you're 5'10", 5'11", can you see him back there?
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: Kyler Murray is a really talented guy.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: He's got all the ability you need.
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: I just got to see it put to work.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: Kevin O'Connell,
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: is he going to get him Discipline enough to drop back like Brock Purdy last night.
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: How effortless and efficient did he look because he does it the way he's being coached.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: He gets back fast.
- 38:58SPEAKER_00: He gets back deep.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: He throws the ball in time.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: You know, footwork, all those.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, it looked effortless to me last night.
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: He wasn't perfect by any means,
- 39:07SPEAKER_00: but it looked effortlessly easy,
- 39:10SPEAKER_00: you know, and distributing the ball where it had to go.
- 39:13SPEAKER_00: I got to see that from Kyler to really believe this is the real deal.
- 39:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it'll be interesting because at his best,
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: we see Kyler Murray just zigging and zagging
- 39:27SPEAKER_02: and Creating his own magic like it's his backyard and Kevin O'Connell at his best.
- 39:33SPEAKER_02: It's Kirk Cousins in the pocket dissecting the defense.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: Bing, big, boom.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: Sam Darnold, same thing.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: But they've had six months.
- 39:42SPEAKER_02: I think they've had a lot of time to figure this out with different launch points
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: and getting the inside outside zone working and all of these weapons
- 39:50SPEAKER_02: and getting Daris on these linemen back at I feel like all of this time,
- 39:55SPEAKER_02: I'm still a Kevin O'Connell believer that he can figure this out.
- 40:00SPEAKER_02: But it is true, Todd.
- 40:01SPEAKER_02: At a much,
- 40:02SPEAKER_02: much minuscule,
- 40:03SPEAKER_02: smaller scale,
- 40:04SPEAKER_02: I was a 5'10 quarterback in Section 6 Class D,
- 40:08SPEAKER_02: the lowest classification of high school football.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: And when I threw the ball,
- 40:13SPEAKER_02: I couldn't see over these,
- 40:15SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 40:15SPEAKER_02: white country boys in the middle of nowhere,
- 40:18SPEAKER_02: Western New York, who are maybe an inch or two taller than me.
- 40:22SPEAKER_02: I can't imagine being Kyler Murray and trying to see over those linemen.
- 40:27SPEAKER_02: But the way Chase Edmonds put it,
- 40:29SPEAKER_02: He's like,
- 40:29SPEAKER_02: look, you're never going to see over those offensive and defensive linemen.
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: Okay, so don't worry about that.
- 40:34SPEAKER_02: To him, it's about seeing that second level.
- 40:36SPEAKER_02: And he's confident in this offense with the movement and the different things they can do.
- 40:41SPEAKER_02: Granted, can it be, is it sustainable, right?
- 40:44SPEAKER_02: Can you run your entire offense on the move?
- 40:47SPEAKER_02: That's a question that I think you brought up.
- 40:50SPEAKER_02: I think there's a path here.
- 40:52SPEAKER_02: And we're going to find out pretty soon here against Green Bay.
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: A defensive coordinator who knows them very well.
- 40:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, and he is talented.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: There's no doubt about it.
- 41:00SPEAKER_00: But I coached the Pro Bowl in 1998 with Doug Flutie, who was a phenomenal athlete, move around.
- 41:08SPEAKER_00: But I'm standing back there with him saying, how are you seeing where you're throwing?
- 41:14SPEAKER_00: And Doug Flutie obviously did some phenomenal things,
- 41:17SPEAKER_00: never quite achieved in the NFL anyway,
- 41:20SPEAKER_00: what he did in college or in Canada or wherever.
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: You know, Fran Tarkington, can you still play like that now?
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 41:30SPEAKER_00: The players are so big and fast and they get on you so fast that I think it's,
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: I don't know that that's a, Sustainable.
- 41:41SPEAKER_00: And we've seen Kyler start out with a flurry,
- 41:43SPEAKER_00: win seven, eight games in a row, and then it kind of dies down.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: So where is he right now in his career?
- 41:50SPEAKER_00: That's the biggest question.
- 41:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm not discarding his talent, ability, any of that.
- 41:56SPEAKER_00: I know that if Justin Jefferson is my ex-receiver,
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: I need a guy that can sit in the pocket and throw those in cuts and posts
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: and big deep outs and things like that.
- 42:09SPEAKER_00: And I don't know.
- 42:10SPEAKER_00: I got to see it.
- 42:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:13SPEAKER_01: I do think that all three of us are in the same boat when it comes to another team
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: in North, and that's the Bears.
- 42:18SPEAKER_01: Neither Todd nor I picked them to make the playoffs.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: Ty, you were on, what, Damoshek's show, right?
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: And I think he asked you to pick a team from that division
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: that you would bet wouldn't make the postseason.
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: I think you said Chicago, too, right?
- 42:30SPEAKER_02: That is correct.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: Yes, I think they'll be on the outside looking in there.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I think we're kind of in the same boat.
- 42:36SPEAKER_01: Is it because their defense is just going to be that bad?
- 42:39SPEAKER_01: Because that's what comes back to you with May.
- 42:43SPEAKER_02: They never really did find a pass rusher, right?
- 42:45SPEAKER_02: They went secondary, free agency in the draft, which is fine.
- 42:50SPEAKER_02: But now your big money signings already hurt.
- 42:52SPEAKER_02: You don't have him for a while.
- 42:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: Caleb Williams was unbelievable.
- 42:58SPEAKER_02: You picked five to seven plays.
- 43:01SPEAKER_02: God, we've been seeing them all offseason.
- 43:03SPEAKER_02: They're on nonstop.
- 43:04SPEAKER_02: It's better than any five, six plays anybody made.
- 43:07SPEAKER_02: We shouldn't completely forget about the first three and a half quarters of a lot
- 43:11SPEAKER_02: of those games.
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: And I watched every second of every Bears game.
- 43:15SPEAKER_02: It was ugly for stretches, really ugly.
- 43:18SPEAKER_02: And you could see Ben Johnson frustrated.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: You could see Caleb Williams frustrated and Caleb Williams stuck with the offense.
- 43:25SPEAKER_02: He bought in and they, they ran the ball.
- 43:28SPEAKER_02: They were okay.
- 43:29SPEAKER_02: Punting.
- 43:29SPEAKER_02: They got all these turnovers.
- 43:30SPEAKER_02: They stayed in these games.
- 43:31SPEAKER_02: And then he'd have these Holy shit plays that were unbelievable, right?
- 43:36SPEAKER_02: Straight out of USC high school, everything he's done his whole life.
- 43:38SPEAKER_02: So I, I don't know.
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: I feel like every quarterback,
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: this side of Josh Allen though,
- 43:44SPEAKER_02: it's hard to improve completion percentage, improve accuracy.
- 43:47SPEAKER_02: You know, That big of a step.
- 43:50SPEAKER_02: I think he was 31st out of 32 quarterbacks.
- 43:53SPEAKER_02: Is he just going to vault into the top 10?
- 43:56SPEAKER_02: No.
- 43:57SPEAKER_02: So you're relying on the big plays,
- 43:58SPEAKER_02: which maybe he makes a ton of big plays again, but I don't think so.
- 44:02SPEAKER_02: I don't think the defense forces the turnovers they did last season.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: They had really good health on the offensive line.
- 44:08SPEAKER_02: That's hard to sustain.
- 44:09SPEAKER_02: I think they'll be fine.
- 44:11SPEAKER_02: I don't think they're going to be a train wreck that completely falls apart.
- 44:14SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I love Detroit.
- 44:17SPEAKER_02: I really like Minnesota.
- 44:18SPEAKER_02: Green Bay, we'll see.
- 44:19SPEAKER_02: I mean, Green Bay could go in any direction.
- 44:22SPEAKER_02: They're without Micah Parsons, Josh Jacobs.
- 44:25SPEAKER_02: They've got injuries on the offensive line.
- 44:27SPEAKER_02: But, yeah, the Chicago Bears, there's still a lot of holes on that roster to me.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: Luckily for them,
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: they play in Carolina to kick off their season,
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: and I think the Panthers are going to be terrible.
- 44:37SPEAKER_01: And that's a game that I think that they should win that game pretty handedly,
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: personally, if we're just talking about week one.
- 44:44SPEAKER_02: They might, yeah.
- 44:45SPEAKER_02: They might.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm not a, you know, I'm not a big Carolina fan, but I'm with you, Ty, on Chicago.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: I think defense last year, very, and I like Dennis Allen.
- 44:57SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 44:57SPEAKER_00: he'll have something every week that gives teams problems,
- 45:00SPEAKER_00: but To believe you can sustain just counting on turnovers after giving up 50,
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: 60, 70 yard drives, it's hard to do.
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: And as you said, I think, Caleb, I think he'll take another step.
- 45:14SPEAKER_00: I love Ben Johnson, and I think he coaches him hard, which I like.
- 45:19SPEAKER_00: I think we'll see improvement.
- 45:21SPEAKER_00: But as you said,
- 45:22SPEAKER_00: I don't think he's going to jump from 58,
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: 59 completion percentage to, you know, 66 or something like that.
- 45:29SPEAKER_00: If he does, great.
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: But I kind of feel like Ben Johnson,
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: when he came out and said,
- 45:34SPEAKER_00: we're going to set the all-time points record,
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: he was trying to create the end of the second half for Caleb and the end of
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: the fourth quarter.
- 45:43SPEAKER_00: Because if he can go do those things, they might set the scoring record.
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: Here's what you like about Ben Johnson, too.
- 45:51SPEAKER_02: Like I said, he coaches him hard.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: He's got his offense.
- 45:53SPEAKER_02: He's got his big-picture vision.
- 45:55SPEAKER_02: And Caleb Williams...
- 45:57SPEAKER_02: He followed suit where I've got a story up on C.J.
- 46:00SPEAKER_02: Stroud.
- 46:01SPEAKER_02: I don't think there's another player in the NFL facing more pressure than C.J.
- 46:04SPEAKER_02: Stroud with I'm totally with you, Todd, an all time defense.
- 46:09SPEAKER_02: It's unlike anything I've seen in years, but C.J.
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: Stroud has to deliver.
- 46:13SPEAKER_02: And what I heard is, you know, I think Bobby Slowick coached him hard and.
- 46:21SPEAKER_02: Those two had their issues.
- 46:22SPEAKER_02: They butted heads.
- 46:24SPEAKER_02: It didn't work out.
- 46:25SPEAKER_02: They went from having these impromptu 30-minute meetings in Bobby's office
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: to just not having them and just being coworkers and barely talking to each other.
- 46:34SPEAKER_02: They make the playoffs.
- 46:35SPEAKER_02: They try to get it going.
- 46:36SPEAKER_02: It's too little, too late.
- 46:37SPEAKER_02: In comes Nick Caley,
- 46:39SPEAKER_02: and he's not as hard on the quarterback, which can be a good thing or a bad thing.
- 46:44SPEAKER_02: What I was told, though, is, you know what?
- 46:47SPEAKER_02: If C.J.
- 46:48SPEAKER_02: Stroud didn't want to run certain plays...
- 46:51SPEAKER_02: From under center,
- 46:52SPEAKER_02: they just went shotgun,
- 46:53SPEAKER_02: and you're going to zap your own unpredictability by doing that.
- 46:56SPEAKER_02: If he didn't necessarily read the play right,
- 46:59SPEAKER_02: but it was a completion, it wasn't always corrected.
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: So they get along better than the previous two did, and Nick Haley can't evolve.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: I think you're going to see more downfield passing.
- 47:09SPEAKER_02: You have to see more downfield passing, but now a better offensive line.
- 47:13SPEAKER_02: He should be more comfortable in the pocket.
- 47:16SPEAKER_02: I don't know, though.
- 47:16SPEAKER_02: The older I get,
- 47:17SPEAKER_02: I kind of skew toward the coach who knows what he wants,
- 47:21SPEAKER_02: has a vision,
- 47:22SPEAKER_02: and is going to make it hard for the quarterback,
- 47:24SPEAKER_02: and you're going to go through growing pains.
- 47:25SPEAKER_02: And this is why I'm kind of with Jared on the Titans stuff.
- 47:28SPEAKER_02: I feel like Dable will coach Cam Ward that way, and they'll go at it.
- 47:31SPEAKER_02: Cam Ward's a fiery guy.
- 47:33SPEAKER_02: They're going to butt heads.
- 47:34SPEAKER_02: But I can see that working out in a weird way.
- 47:38SPEAKER_02: But you've got to have those hard conversations to get to where you want to get to.
- 47:42SPEAKER_01: I think that just comes down to CJ willing to do it.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: I mean, Todd,
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: I'm sure there's plenty of times,
- 47:47SPEAKER_01: whether it was in Kansas City with Matt,
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: Pittsburgh with Ben, whoever it may be, where you guys butted heads at least once.
- 47:52SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 47:54SPEAKER_00: It's no different than being a parent.
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: You can't be the kid's friend.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, you've got to instill discipline.
- 48:01SPEAKER_00: I mean, coaching will never change, in my opinion.
- 48:05SPEAKER_00: You know, for me, with CJ, you said he's got to deliver.
- 48:11SPEAKER_00: See, I would take the approach of all I'd be talking to CJ about is we don't care
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: about stats offensively.
- 48:19SPEAKER_00: We want to convert third downs.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: We want to score when we're in the red zone, but don't try to do too much.
- 48:26SPEAKER_00: You got maybe arguably one of the best defenses ever.
- 48:30SPEAKER_00: You don't have to do too much.
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: Just be smart and don't lose the game.
- 48:35SPEAKER_00: I think that's the way Brock Purdy plays and why San Francisco's had so much success
- 48:39SPEAKER_00: when he's playing.
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: Just do the things you're supposed to do and make plays and clutch situations
- 48:48SPEAKER_00: where he's gotten himself in trouble, I believe.
- 48:50SPEAKER_00: And I really thought when Davis Mills went in there
- 48:53SPEAKER_00: and won four games playing average football, That CJ would see that, recognize it.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: But these players, I mean, they're very coaches, very stat-driven.
- 49:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, I guarantee it,
- 49:05SPEAKER_00: Nick Kaley or Bobby Sloak,
- 49:06SPEAKER_00: whoever, when the game ends, they're looking at the stats.
- 49:11SPEAKER_00: They're looking at what everybody else did.
- 49:12SPEAKER_00: Where do we rank?
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: With the Texans, I don't think it really matters.
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: Just don't beat yourselves.
- 49:19SPEAKER_00: And that's hard to tell a really good player like CJ, don't do too much.
- 49:23SPEAKER_00: But if you can get it done, This team's going to be hard to beat.
- 49:28SPEAKER_00: I mean, they give up 17 points a game.
- 49:31SPEAKER_00: It's very easy to score 18, 19, 20 points.
- 49:34SPEAKER_00: But that doesn't look good on the stat sheet.
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: That doesn't sound good when you watch ESPN or NFL Network.
- 49:39SPEAKER_00: Everybody's like, oh, they're only scoring 20 points a game.
- 49:42SPEAKER_00: Well, they're winning every game.
- 49:44SPEAKER_00: You know, that's why Mike Vrabel wins a bunch.
- 49:47SPEAKER_00: That's why Sean Payton wins.
- 49:48SPEAKER_00: That's why Bill Parcells,
- 49:50SPEAKER_00: if Parcells heard us talking about a stat, he might hit you upside the head.
- 49:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was not allowed.
- 49:58SPEAKER_00: Just worry about winning the game.
- 49:59SPEAKER_00: How do we score more points than the opponent?
- 50:02SPEAKER_00: I went through this in high school with parents when I was coaching for just fun.
- 50:06SPEAKER_00: And it ended up being misery.
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: We're winning every game.
- 50:10SPEAKER_00: Parents are off the wall.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: My kid's not getting the stats and this and that and the other.
- 50:16SPEAKER_00: The name of the game is winning, but it's a different world.
- 50:19SPEAKER_00: So don't get caught up in stats.
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: Uh, And I think D'Amico is really a smart, astute guy.
- 50:26SPEAKER_00: And hopefully between him and Nick, they make that kind of a mandate.
- 50:32SPEAKER_00: I think we saw it in Seattle.
- 50:33SPEAKER_00: Mike McDonald doesn't care how many points they score as long as it's more than what
- 50:37SPEAKER_00: the opponent scores.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: He is not worried about that.
- 50:40SPEAKER_00: And you generally get it with defensive coaches.
- 50:43SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 50:43SPEAKER_00: an offensive coach,
- 50:44SPEAKER_00: you know, he's going to pick up the stat sheet right after the game.
- 50:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, we threw for 350 and we, this, you know, just win the game.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: And I think that the best thing that D'Amico or Kaylee can do is,
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: like, there's egos in football.
- 50:59SPEAKER_01: That's not a secret.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: And, you know,
- 51:01SPEAKER_01: I think that why it works in San Francisco,
- 51:03SPEAKER_01: like you pointed out,
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: is because I don't think Brock Purdy really has an ego about it.
- 51:06SPEAKER_01: And that's not me saying that I think CJ does.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: But if there is a little bit of that there where he wants to be a big play guy
- 51:12SPEAKER_01: and regarded as somebody who isn't just a passenger,
- 51:14SPEAKER_01: I think you've got to have good coaching to be able to talk him down from that ledge
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: and be like, look, man, we're winning and you're a part of that.
- 51:20SPEAKER_01: But that doesn't mean that you have to be John Wayne on the field and try things
- 51:24SPEAKER_01: that aren't necessary for us to win.
- 51:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean,
- 51:28SPEAKER_02: the way a coach described it to me was,
- 51:30SPEAKER_02: Bobby Slowick, if you're using the golf analogy, is using his driver off the tee.
- 51:35SPEAKER_02: And you might get a birdie, you might get a bogey or double bogey.
- 51:38SPEAKER_02: Nick Haley wants to keep it on the fairway, play for par.
- 51:42SPEAKER_02: And with, I mean, a defensive-minded head coach, D'Amico Ryan's the best defense in football.
- 51:47SPEAKER_02: I get it.
- 51:48SPEAKER_00: Or I just...
- 51:49SPEAKER_00: Keep it close, score enough.
- 51:51SPEAKER_00: You want to play like Scotty Scheffler.
- 51:53SPEAKER_00: You're smarter than everybody else on the golf course, and you're also better.
- 51:57SPEAKER_00: So CJ, I think, is really talented.
- 52:00SPEAKER_00: Be smart.
- 52:01SPEAKER_00: Don't try to be a hero, but make the plays when you need to make the plays.
- 52:04SPEAKER_00: Scotty Scheffler does it week in and week out.
- 52:08SPEAKER_02: Because there is a coach on staff.
- 52:09SPEAKER_02: When I brought this analogy up, he's like, well, it can kind of go both ways.
- 52:12SPEAKER_02: You could say we should take more chances because we'll just get to
- 52:16SPEAKER_02: the ball right back with our defense.
- 52:18SPEAKER_02: And I was like, you know what?
- 52:19SPEAKER_02: That makes a lot of sense too.
- 52:22SPEAKER_02: You're shaking your head.
- 52:22SPEAKER_02: You don't like it, Todd.
- 52:25SPEAKER_00: You want to be John Daly over here?
- 52:27SPEAKER_02: Greg Norman.
- 52:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, John Daly's better.
- 52:31SPEAKER_02: A few drinks in the system to really
- 52:33SPEAKER_02: fuel the golf game.
- 52:39SPEAKER_02: Hey, let's end it here.
- 52:40SPEAKER_02: Give me your Super Bowl prediction right now.
- 52:43SPEAKER_02: I don't even know who you guys picked.
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: I went with Cincinnati and Dallas with the Cowboys winning.
- 52:51SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 52:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:53SPEAKER_00: Cowboy guy.
- 52:55SPEAKER_00: Dallas.
- 52:56SPEAKER_00: AFC, I am going Buffalo Bills.
- 53:00SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 53:01SPEAKER_00: NFC, I'm going to go with the chalk line and I'm going to go LA Rams.
- 53:08SPEAKER_02: I like it.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: You're not going to take the
- 53:10SPEAKER_02: eraser out.
- 53:11SPEAKER_00: You're sticking with it.
- 53:12SPEAKER_00: The couple of showdowns we've seen with Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford
- 53:16SPEAKER_00: a couple years ago that I think we could see like one of
- 53:19SPEAKER_00: the most incredible Super Bowls ever if that came to be.
- 53:24SPEAKER_02: It was a hell of a regular season game a couple years ago.
- 53:27SPEAKER_01: Just give me one Josh Allen Super Bowl, man.
- 53:30SPEAKER_01: Of all the guys in the league I want to see win one, he's certainly at the top.
- 53:33SPEAKER_01: So I would love nothing more.
- 53:36SPEAKER_02: I think Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson.
- 53:39SPEAKER_02: They've got to be playing in the game this year.
- 53:41SPEAKER_00: They'll both get one, I believe.
- 53:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know,
- 53:44SPEAKER_00: my only continued nightmare and regret is that we had a chance
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: to take Saquon Barkley number one and Josh Allen number four with Cleveland Browns
- 53:54SPEAKER_00: in 2018.
- 53:55SPEAKER_00: Could have had them both.
- 54:00SPEAKER_00: We could have had them both.
- 54:04SPEAKER_02: I mean, you can't just mention that And we can't just sign off.
- 54:09SPEAKER_02: I mean, take us inside that draft room, please.
- 54:12SPEAKER_01: I mean, look, Baker just got paid.
- 54:14SPEAKER_01: Baker's pretty
- 54:15SPEAKER_02: damn good.
- 54:15SPEAKER_00: And I love, that is never a negative of Baker.
- 54:20SPEAKER_00: I love Baker, but there's a lot of voices in that Cleveland Brown building.
- 54:24SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you've ever been there.
- 54:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's like working at Google.
- 54:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, there are so many cubicles.
- 54:30SPEAKER_00: In the morning I walked in, I'm like, good morning, morning.
- 54:32SPEAKER_00: How you doing?
- 54:33SPEAKER_00: How you doing?
- 54:33SPEAKER_00: How you doing?
- 54:33SPEAKER_00: Hey, good morning.
- 54:34SPEAKER_00: Good morning.
- 54:34SPEAKER_00: Good morning.
- 54:35SPEAKER_00: You don't know anybody.
- 54:37SPEAKER_00: And there's a lot of voices that are heard.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: And, you know, Jimmy Haslam asked me every single day.
- 54:43SPEAKER_00: We went on his plane to see Baker,
- 54:45SPEAKER_00: spend two days, to Sam Darnold, to, you know, Josh Rosen, to Josh.
- 54:51SPEAKER_00: And every day asked me, and he's kind of a close talker, so he'd be right here against my face.
- 54:57SPEAKER_00: And he'd say, who are you taking?
- 54:59SPEAKER_00: I said, Josh Allen.
- 55:01SPEAKER_00: Josh Allen.
- 55:03SPEAKER_00: Every single day.
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: And then I said, You know, I think we could get Josh at four.
- 55:07SPEAKER_00: We could take Saquon at number one.
- 55:09SPEAKER_00: I love him too.
- 55:10SPEAKER_00: You know, let's get both of them and see what happens.
- 55:13SPEAKER_00: And that's no, again, you know, I love Nick Chubb.
- 55:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, we got him in the second round.
- 55:17SPEAKER_00: I love Denzel Ward.
- 55:19SPEAKER_00: They're all good players, Baker included.
- 55:21SPEAKER_00: But, I mean,
- 55:22SPEAKER_00: when you're draft,
- 55:23SPEAKER_00: my father taught me very early,
- 55:26SPEAKER_00: you don't want to be picking up where you're picking.
- 55:30SPEAKER_00: You know, whether it was with the Cardinals or the Bears when I first got there.
- 55:34SPEAKER_00: So when you're there, you better get difference makers.
- 55:38SPEAKER_00: And, you know,
- 55:39SPEAKER_00: you don't want to get overachievers or,
- 55:41SPEAKER_00: you know, Parcells called me after that draft.
- 55:44SPEAKER_00: He says, you can, you can, you can fit your first four picks in a climb car.
- 55:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, you got all little guys, Todd, what are you doing?
- 55:51SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 55:52SPEAKER_00: so I want a six, five,
- 55:53SPEAKER_00: Josh Allen that can run a four or five and a smart,
- 55:57SPEAKER_00: and I want to Saquon Barkley that can flip over top of people and make plays.
- 56:02SPEAKER_00: You know, when you're up there picking early, you better get guys that make a difference.
- 56:06SPEAKER_00: And, you know, my first draft with the Chiefs, I mean, there weren't any.
- 56:10SPEAKER_00: Look at the 2009 draft.
- 56:13SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's like three guys that maybe you said, okay, they had really good careers.
- 56:19SPEAKER_00: Matthew was one of them, but we couldn't take them.
- 56:21SPEAKER_00: But took a four-technique defensive end and a 3-4, Tyson-Jackson.
- 56:31SPEAKER_00: Great guy, good player, but we're picking fourth.
- 56:35SPEAKER_00: You get a guy that really isn't going to make a difference for you.
- 56:40SPEAKER_00: Man, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you,
- 56:43SPEAKER_00: Ty and Jared, right now if we took Saquon and Josh.
- 56:48SPEAKER_02: What did you see in Josh Allen then, Ty?
- 56:50SPEAKER_02: What blew you away at that point?
- 56:52SPEAKER_02: Because he was a polarizing prospect.
- 56:54SPEAKER_00: Opinions were all over the place.
- 56:55SPEAKER_00: Upside, smart, great kid, big, And everybody's like, he's not accurate.
- 57:02SPEAKER_00: But he's throwing to guys that are now working at,
- 57:06SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 57:06SPEAKER_00: they might be working at Microsoft,
- 57:08SPEAKER_00: they might be working at Walmart, they might be working at Pizza Hut.
- 57:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, he's throwing to little guys.
- 57:13SPEAKER_00: I mean, he was the man among boys.
- 57:15SPEAKER_00: There's no player.
- 57:16SPEAKER_00: Dak Prescott is one.
- 57:18SPEAKER_00: But when you evaluate, you watch all the tape, you take it home at night, you watch it.
- 57:22SPEAKER_00: And Dak Prescott is a player that at Mississippi State,
- 57:26SPEAKER_00: I'm like,
- 57:27SPEAKER_00: Whoever was standing around, my kids were like, hey, come look at this play.
- 57:31SPEAKER_00: It's unbelievable.
- 57:32SPEAKER_00: Dak was one of those guys.
- 57:34SPEAKER_00: And Josh Allen,
- 57:35SPEAKER_00: despite,
- 57:36SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 57:38SPEAKER_00: not statistically any of those things,
- 57:41SPEAKER_00: I rewound the tape more times and called coaches in and said, look at this throw.
- 57:47SPEAKER_00: I mean, the snow is going sideways.
- 57:49SPEAKER_00: He's got no glove.
- 57:50SPEAKER_00: And he's making plays that not many people on the planet could make.
- 57:56SPEAKER_00: So if you're drafting in the top five,
- 57:59SPEAKER_00: you better take a guy that has the ability to do things that nobody else can do.
- 58:04SPEAKER_02: What were your meetings like with him?
- 58:06SPEAKER_02: I mean, you sat down with him.
- 58:09SPEAKER_00: He just, he's a great kid.
- 58:12SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 58:13SPEAKER_00: the funny thing is I was having to,
- 58:15SPEAKER_00: I had to fly down south after our two days when he came to our place.
- 58:20SPEAKER_00: And I'm at the gate and he's on my flight, ironically.
- 58:24SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, he comes over, we sit down.
- 58:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, just there was something unique and special about him on top of the fact
- 58:31SPEAKER_00: that you got to look up at him and his hands are size 11.
- 58:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, you don't want to take overachievers.
- 58:39SPEAKER_00: You want to take guys that can knock your socks off, whatever position it is.
- 58:48SPEAKER_01: And for what it's worth,
- 58:49SPEAKER_01: everybody,
- 58:49SPEAKER_01: you'll get plenty of stories like this on the Pump Fake,
- 58:52SPEAKER_01: a shameless plug for our podcast where Todd is full of 30 years of stories from
- 58:57SPEAKER_01: the NFL.
- 58:58SPEAKER_01: So this is what I'm exposed to three times a week on our show, and it's the absolute best.
- 59:05SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 59:05SPEAKER_01: I just became Jared Bailey there.
- 59:06SPEAKER_01: I just – I wanted more.
- 59:07SPEAKER_02: I want more.
- 59:08SPEAKER_02: Todd, give me more on this.
- 59:11SPEAKER_00: Now that, Ty,
- 59:12SPEAKER_00: I know you're a Western New York guy,
- 59:13SPEAKER_00: I had a play – I went to Chautauqua Lake for – My whole life.
- 59:18SPEAKER_01: Get out of here.
- 59:20SPEAKER_00: No way.
- 59:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, you're my new favorite story, Jared.
- 59:25SPEAKER_00: Ty's my new favorite.
- 59:27SPEAKER_02: Me and my wife were at Chautauqua Lake last weekend.
- 59:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, were you?
- 59:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 59:32SPEAKER_02: Chautauqua Institute.
- 59:32SPEAKER_02: We stayed there a little bit away.
- 59:34SPEAKER_00: My dad with the 1979 Super Bowl,
- 59:38SPEAKER_00: his earnings, I think in 1979, he was basically the general manager.
- 59:43SPEAKER_00: They called him the director of player personnel.
- 59:45SPEAKER_00: They didn't have GMs.
- 59:46SPEAKER_00: He made, according to him, he made $17,500 was his salary.
- 59:53SPEAKER_00: I mean, we lived in a little split level in South Hills of Pittsburgh.
- 59:57SPEAKER_00: And with the playoffs and Super Bowl win in 79, he made another $18,000.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_00: So with that, he bought a little cottage in Chautauqua.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_00: And he bought a little boat.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_00: And I was taught how to cover it.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_00: Drive it, park it, do all those things.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_00: So 1979, Chautauqua from that day on.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_02: Did you get out to Midway Park?
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_02: Were you young enough for that?
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, Midway.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_00: My sister used to let me drive her car.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_00: I was underage, but she let me drive around Midway.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_00: Bemis, my house was in Bemis right on Lakeside.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_00: So I bought that when I was with the Steelers and just sold it,
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_00: but could walk to the village and surf club and Yeah.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_02: I could have dropped all our old high school rivals and you would have been able to keep up.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_02: Where did you go to high school?
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_02: Ellicottville.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_00: I'm a big skier.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_00: Done a ton of times at Holiday Valley.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_00: Love it.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, we got a lot in common.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_02: Well, I think we just became best friends, Todd.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_02: And I assume you like buffalo wings.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_02: Well, we just call them wings.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_02: We don't call them Buffalo wings.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_02: They're just wings.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_02: And you got to know where to go.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_02: Do both of you guys have a go-to spot?
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_00: The saloon in Lakewood is mine.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_00: Or the original ankle bra in Buffalo I like.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_00: But the saloon in Lakewood is the best wings.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_00: It used to be the casino, but they changed...
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_00: Ownership, but in Bemis, that was the best of all time.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_00: They have the Guinness Book of World Records for most wings
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_00: and three bud splits sold in a night.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_02: Shit, I've never had wings there.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_02: Gonna have to put that on the list.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_00: They're not like they used to be.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_02: Okay, ah, alright.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_02: I'm talking, I'm talking, I'm talking
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_00: in the 70s and 80s.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_02: Well, the Chautauqua Bell would have been around back then, right?
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_02: Did you ever get on that steamboat?
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, oh yeah,
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_00: I'm I've had a lot of friends have receptions and wedding parties out there, but no,
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_00: I spent a lot of time,
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_00: probably too much time with my girlfriend because I made her sit through a winter
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_00: and it became like the shining when everybody leaves and goes back to Pittsburgh
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_00: or Cleveland or Buffalo and you're sitting there in the dark with
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_00: a Bigfoot outside your door.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_00: Right, Jared?
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_01: Oh God.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_01: Don't get them started on the potential Bigfoot in the Northeastern area.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_02: You're a non-believer, Jared?
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_01: I'm agnostic.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_01: I think about Bigfoot the same amount of time I think about indie films.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_01: I was like, okay, I hope you all get what you want.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_01: I just don't really, it's not up my wheelhouse personally.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_01: But no, Todd and my father are both massive into it.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_01: So I get it from both ends and it's very silly.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_02: We should plug Blurry Creatures.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_02: Aaron Rodgers' brother, Luke Rodgers, has the best podcast in that world.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_02: Blurry Creatures.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_02: They're talking Bigfoot.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_02: They're talking, I mean, giants, which were real.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_02: They were here before the Native Americans.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_02: What else did they get into?
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_02: I mean, ghost stories.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_02: A lot of it has a biblical background.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_02: They talk to somebody who is convinced he saw a mermaid out in the ocean.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_02: This podcast is wild.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_02: So, yes, Blurry Creatures.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_02: Check it out.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_01: I might have to.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_01: Is it podcast only?
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_01: Is there like a visual of it on YouTube?
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_02: Their YouTube channel is huge.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_02: They're blowing up.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_02: People love it.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_01: I'll have to.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we'll have to.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_01: Maybe we'll review that like in the off season.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_01: We'll just have like a weekly blurry creatures review show on the pump fake.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_01: Maybe we'll get Luke Rogers on.

- 1:03:41SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_02: Get Aaron on and he can talk about a lot of different things.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_02: I'm sure.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_02: See, we brought a full circle.
