- 0:36And you weego and here we go as right, folks, Welcome to our
- 0:43presentation. My name is Rob Clark, the host of the Long Gum And
- 0:47podcast. I am also the host our co host of the Quick Hits podcast
- 0:53that I do with my buddy Doug Campbell. It was actually there in Dallas
- 0:57amongst you today. Of course, he might be down at the Tacock.
- 1:00I think it's close to lunchtime, but I would highly recommend that you put
- 1:04off your lunch just a little bit longer today because you're not going to want
- 1:07to miss this presentation. It is chock full of very new information and fantastic
- 1:15stories that you are not going to want to miss. But I did not
- 1:18come alone. I brought along my secret weapon, my partner in crime,
- 1:22mister Joe Barelli. Hello everyone, my name is Joe Borelli, and I
- 1:27just want to first of all say I am honored to be presenting alongside such
- 1:33legendary researchers whose books line my bookshelf. I have a background in finance.
- 1:42I worked in wealth management for several years and now I work for a financial
- 1:49tech company during doing pattern and data analysis. So essentially my job is I
- 1:56go through vast data sets look for pattern errors anomalies to improve financial algorithms.
- 2:05So I have a unique skill set, and over the course of my JFP
- 2:08journey, I noticed the name of Martin repeatedly popping up in the assassination story.
- 2:15A lot of these Martin's first names started with Jay and in a couple
- 2:20of cases middle names. When Rob and I started seriously researching this anomaly,
- 2:27we were amazed to what we stumbled onto, which was the Martin alias,
- 2:34an alias we believe that was used by the CIA over the course of decades,
- 2:40and hence the Martin Show was born. That's right, Joe. And
- 2:46when we're talking about the Martin alias, you know, you also have to
- 2:50realize that the Martin surname is also sometimes people's legitimate last name. So when
- 2:57we took a look at the Martin surname, we realize that it's ranks in
- 3:04the number twentieth as of the twenty ten census. We don't have the data
- 3:07from sixty three to give you, but when you when you see that,
- 3:13you know it's kind of middle of the road, kind of generic, kind
- 3:17of forgettable. You know, it's not so common, you know, like
- 3:22Smith or Johnson, or Williams or Brown. But it's also not so obscure,
- 3:28you know, as to stand out in your in your mind as being
- 3:31memorable, which is something that you want in an alias. So let's move
- 3:38on to our first Jay Martin. Now we have thirty of them for you
- 3:46today, okay, but for the sake of time, we're not going to
- 3:49be able to go through them. Ma all here today with you, we're
- 3:52going to highlight some a couple of these for you and give us a brief
- 3:55description and go into more depth for a couple or a few of them here
- 4:01today for this presentation. So, like I said, the first one is
- 4:05Jack s Martin. Everybody knows this guy is famously getting pistol whipped by Guy
- 4:11Banister and dropping a dime on David Ferry to the FBI early on. His
- 4:17real name is Edward Suggs. He used the Jack s Martin alias in New
- 4:23Orleans as well as the Colonel Jack Martin alias in New Orleans, and he
- 4:28also used the John J. Martin and Bishop John Martin alias is in Kentucky
- 4:34according to the Bishop Christopher Maria Stanley yep. And those top four are the
- 4:45alias. Says that Suggs used. We also we're not going to mention all
- 4:49these again. Like Rob mentioned, we have John C. Martin, who
- 4:54was the head of security at the International Trademark. You have John Martin Junior,
- 5:00the postal worker, worked with Harry Holmes and he filmed Dealey Plaza film
- 5:05which a lot of people get mixed up with. Our next Martin, John
- 5:10T. Martin, who was a student that filmed both Walker's House pre assassination
- 5:15and the street fracas involving Lee Harvey Oswalt in New Orleans. Yeah. Also
- 5:23mentionable are Johnny or otherwise known as Juan Martin, who was involved with Serena
- 5:29Odio, Silviodio's sister and they offered her arms for her anti Castro group Jure
- 5:39also the alias Jean Martin that Pierre Lafitte used in New Orleans. He was
- 5:46the subject of the book Coop in Dallas. And John Martin Thorne, who
- 5:51was Marina's lawyer during her warrant commission testimony and was introduced to Marina by her
- 6:00babysitter agent representative James Herbert Martin. Yes, we will be getting in to
- 6:09him in serious detail shortly. We also have James Wilford, known as Jim
- 6:16Martin, Ruby's lawyer and the only survivor of the meeting at Ruby's apartment tonight
- 6:23that he shot Oswaltz on November twenty fourth, nineteen sixty three. Yep.
- 6:31And next up we have James Herbert Martin, and we just mentioned Marina's business
- 6:36manager and agent, which we'll be getting into more later and Jack W.
- 6:42Martin, who was actually a Secret Service suspect that had an APB put out
- 6:47on him and actually before Oswell was arrested on eleven, twenty two sixty three.
- 6:55And we just think it's a little odd that they're sending the Secret Service
- 6:59to chase down on a Jack Martin in Louisiana before Oswald is arrested. Yeah,
- 7:06within an hour after the assassination. You have a couple DPD cops named
- 7:14Martin that we're not going to go into detail in. Joseph James Martin is
- 7:18another one we wanted to highlight. He was a CIA intelligence assistant from nineteen
- 7:25fifty to nineteen fifty eight in the Transportation Branch Services Division, worked out of
- 7:30DC and there's been a lot of confusion over the years if Joseph James Martin
- 7:38was Jack s Martin nor Suggs and if he was other Martins, but we
- 7:45were unable to determine that. Next up, we have Roland Jay Martin,
- 7:57owner of Martin's Cafe in New Orleans. He managed to cash at least nine
- 8:01that we know about paychecks of Lee Harvey Oswald from the Riley Coffee Company.
- 8:07Yeah, we have that graphic. We'll show to you shortly. Lewis J.
- 8:11Martin, who is an alias of Lewis McWillie, one of Ruby's closest
- 8:16friends, a notorious mobster, gun runner and Santo traficante associate. And speaking
- 8:30of mafia, why don't you finish off our last Martin? Kind of yes,
- 8:35John Martino, former Castro prisoner, mobster, electronics expert, and alleged
- 8:43bag man for the JFK assassination by some dubious sources. Yeah, his book
- 8:50is fascinating and mentions David Morales in nineteen fifty three, decade before anyone knew
- 9:01his name. But God, now we will be getting into the first segment,
- 9:07which is Jolly Joe Martin, and I will let Rob take it away.
- 9:15Jolly Joe Martin definitely qualifies as a Jay Martin name Now Jolly Joe Martin
- 9:22was a real guy in Omaha radio. And to get to him, I
- 9:28got to him through researching Jack S. Martin. And to do that,
- 9:33I read quite quite a bit of Joe Mellen's book of Farewell to Justice,
- 9:41and I came across this crazy story that Thomas Beckham told about Jolly Joe Martin
- 9:48and U which led me down several rabbit holes of interesting stories. Now,
- 9:58Jolly Joe Martin was past the baton in nineteen fifty one when Johnny Carson left
- 10:05Omaha to go to Hollywood. Martin commanded fifty three percent of the radio audience
- 10:13in the early nineteen fifties, so this guy was a big deal. He
- 10:16did multiple shows daily and on the weekends, and also hosted a television show
- 10:22during the week for little kids who came home from school to eat lunch called
- 10:28snicker Flickers, where he would do funny dialogue and sound effects to go along
- 10:33with old silent movies think Mystery Science Mystery Science Theater three thousand, only with
- 10:41silent movies in the fifties. But yeah, odd stuff back then. But
- 10:48he was a very busy guy and very high in demand, very popular.
- 10:54Now, how he comes into the story is that, according to Beckham,
- 11:01Jack Martin ordered him to get the heck out of New Orleans to evade Garrison
- 11:05subpoena for the grand jury, and at this time Beckham moves back and forth
- 11:13between Nebraska and Iowa. The one person who helps him is a man named
- 11:18Joe Martin, who was a disc jockey at Kowham Radio in Omaha. This
- 11:24Martin is a mild, unassuming man, a right wing Republican who began in
- 11:28radio in the nineteen forties with Johnny Carson at Omaha's Wow. Although Joe Martin
- 11:35seems to be unconnected and a nobody, he was selected to compose the theme
- 11:39song for the nineteen sixty four Republican National Convention, and it made station manager
- 11:46Mike Starr wonder Joe Martin from lowly, Omaha. Now A lot of employees
- 11:54at kowh had had or have Air Force backgrounds. The majority owner of the
- 12:01radio station, who purchased it in nineteen sixty two was William F. Buckley
- 12:07Junior. Maybe you've heard of him and his brother, Ross Buckley, who
- 12:13lived in New Orleans right down the street from clay Shaw. He would also
- 12:20hang out with Terry Thornley on Friday nights at the Writer Coffee House with William
- 12:24Cuthbert Brady, and together with Brady in nineteen sixty two, Ross Buckley organized
- 12:31something called the Fair Cuba Committee, not fair play for Cuba committee, but
- 12:37the Fair Cuba Committee gotcha. So here's where the craziness starts. So station
- 12:48manager Mike Starr starts to hear of secret phone calls to Joe Martin and whispered
- 12:52conversations, and Martin leaves would disappear with no explanation for hours at a time.
- 13:00He is, in fact involved in shielding and protecting Garrison witnesses and helping
- 13:03them avoid his openions. So Joe Martin finally confides in Mike Starr about what
- 13:11he's doing. He's running a CIE safehouse, he reveals. Starr, who
- 13:16is a young graduate of the Georgetown School of Law, also serves as Judge
- 13:20Advocate General at Offit Air Force Base, which Beckham has told stories about Fred
- 13:28Chrisman being able to get them on the base no problem, and all of
- 13:33this weaving in and out of Operation looking Glass and all kinds of other crazy
- 13:37stuff. Now at the safehouse, Martin says he's been recording the stories of
- 13:43those he is shielding on tapes he plans to play on kow h Now.
- 13:48Star feels he will lose his FCC license or be prosecuted and says no,
- 13:54no, Joe, absolutely not, sir now. One night, six weeks
- 14:07after Joe Martin as for airtime to play his assassination tapes, there was a
- 14:09loud banging at the door. Two men show up, flashing IDs, claiming
- 14:16CIA and chase Joe Martin into the basement. They clutch him and drag him
- 14:24off into the night. They claim that they'll hear from him in a little
- 14:35while. They don't know when he'll be back, and they disappear. Beckham
- 14:39believe that one of the men must be must have been Fredly Christman, because
- 14:43suddenly there he was. Beckham says, I might as well return to New
- 14:46Orleans. I can lie or say nothing. You might say something you shouldn't
- 14:52say. Fred laughs smart as I am even I make mistakes, and then
- 14:56he also threatens Beckham with this, if I am subpoena as a result of
- 15:01anything you say, I'll kill you. So three days after Joe Martin disappeared,
- 15:07Mike Starr received a telephone call from the psychiatric unit of Saint Mary's Hospital.
- 15:13Did he want to pick up Joe Martin? Sure so. When Star
- 15:18arrived and Martin was cowering in the corner, unshaven and disheveled, Martin tried
- 15:24to talk, but could not remember anything about the last three days. He
- 15:28would be unable to ever go on the air again. All he would say
- 15:33when finally he could speak, was that he had been working with somebody who
- 15:35tried to get away from it. Now, as good as Joe Millan is,
- 15:41even she gets things wrong, Joe Martin would be okay. He in
- 15:46fact, would go on the air again, and managed to have several jobs
- 15:52throughout the seventies and eighties at KHSTV and KMVTTV in Twin Falls, Idaho,
- 16:00until he finally passed away in nineteen ninety five. Now, interestingly enough,
- 16:11in nineteen sixty seven, a lightning strike caused enough damage to take the station
- 16:15off the air for a few weeks. In August, the OUTUS delayed the
- 16:18start of the new format, playing for September first, as a returning to
- 16:22the air. The program changed was further delayed until October first, while waiting
- 16:26for a new stereo tape equipment to arrive. So was this done to prevent
- 16:34Jolly Joe Martin from playing his assassination tapes on the air. Who knows?
- 16:45Now, back to Thomas Beckham for a second, is he telling the truth?
- 16:55Because for those of you who haven't looked into Thomas Beckham yet, I
- 16:59would highly reckon men going back and checking out his HSCA testimony and giving it
- 17:07a read, because it's very interesting. It differs highly from his Garrison Grand
- 17:12Jerry testimony, and what he told investigators Bob Burris and oj Delsa made them
- 17:22want to polygraph him because the story he was telling was so fantastical. So
- 17:26in nineteen seventy eight, Richard Hunter, a former partner of Bob Burris,
- 17:32as a favor, did the polygraph and there was no cost at all to
- 17:36the committee. Was he being truthful? Well, after two days, Hunter
- 17:41revealed his conclusion and he discovered no deception whatsoever in Thomas Beckham. Either he's
- 17:48the greatest liar that Hunter had ever encountered, or he was telling the truth.
- 17:56So the next day they were summoned to Washington, their immediate supervisor,
- 18:00Cliff Finton. They were charged with conducting an unauthorized polygraph and punished with two
- 18:07week administrative suspensions for doing this. The committee constructed and after the fact paper
- 18:15authorization of the polygraph so that Buers and Delsa could be reimbursed for their airfares
- 18:21and bringing Beckham to Louisiana. Now, one other interesting little tidbit I came
- 18:29across in the course of researching into Omaha Radio, which is, believe me,
- 18:33fascinating, not really. For a contracted number of weeks, in nineteen
- 18:40sixty two, Bill Dalzel hosted the hour long Cameo Coffee Club live from the
- 18:45Crossroads Shopping Mall at ten am. It featured interviews, prizes, free coffee
- 18:52and donuts for shoppers, and fashions. Now, I don't have a lot
- 18:56of time to get into Bill Dalzel with you here today, but just know
- 19:00that that is another deep CIA associated rabbit hole, and somebody might be thinking
- 19:07Bill Dolls. You know he's not a radio DJ. Well, he might
- 19:11not be a radio DJ, but he was involved in the Free Voice of
- 19:17Cuba, a shortwave radio transmission to the people of Cuba, and he was
- 19:22also on the air we in New Orleans in nineteen sixty and sixty one so
- 19:27he did have previous radio experience, so it's not out of them possibility that
- 19:33this guy is the same guy. And that's interesting to me. So let's
- 19:41go back to the slides here. Sorry for a slight delay. All right,
- 19:55So I was wondering, Okay, does all this line up, Joe
- 20:00Martin line up? Is Mike Starr a real person? You know, because
- 20:04you never know until you look into things, you know that could be telling
- 20:08this fantastical story. Well, yeah, Mike Starr is a real person.
- 20:12His brother Peter Starr is a real person. William F. Buckley real person.
- 20:18In fact, Peter Starr Mike Starr's older brother William F. Buckley Junior,
- 20:26since he was thirteen years old from his paper route and when Peter Starr
- 20:33graduated from college in sixty four, he went to work as a salesman for
- 20:36an Omaha radio station owned by Buckley, and in four months he was promoted
- 20:40the manager of the station. Now, at some point, of course,
- 20:42his younger brother would take over managing the station, and the brothers would form
- 20:51Star Broadcasting Corporation with the help of William F. Buckley and acquire many more
- 20:57radio stations and grow their little thing. Now The interesting thing about Omaha Omaha
- 21:06Radio Station is in nineteen sixty nine they kind of switched formats to a experimental
- 21:17format of progressive rock and jazz, and it was a mix of rhythm and
- 21:22blues, traditional blues, international music, hardcore rock, free form rock.
- 21:29And in nineteen sixty nine they sponsored the Grateful Dead appearing at the Music Box
- 21:33in Omaha, which is interesting considering that the Grateful Dead have been suspected of
- 21:44helping the CIA spread the gloriousness of LSD to the population. So very interesting
- 21:56stuff there. Now, Mike Starr was so pissed off at William F.
- 22:07Buckley Jr. He wrote a book in twenty fifteen called What a Friend We
- 22:11Had in Bill WILLIAMOTH Buckley Jr. The Rise, Betrayal and Fall of Star
- 22:15Broadcasting. Now, apparently everything was great in the sixties, excuse me,
- 22:22And into the seventies everything started to fall apart very quickly for Star Broadcasting,
- 22:30and William F. Buckley screwed over the Star Brothers and basically served them up
- 22:37on a silver platter to the FCC and cost the millions and millions of dollars.
- 22:45And that was the end of Star Broadcasting. Folks. To bring us
- 22:48all full circle, I found this little tidbit about Gary Mack that I mean,
- 22:56the name pops out at you. You know, we all know him
- 22:59from the sixth Ford Museum and as a conspiracy researcher before that. But there
- 23:07was actually a guy who was using the on air personality name of Gary Mack
- 23:11on KOIL in nineteen sixty five and then moved his show to Chicago. Now,
- 23:18a young Larry Dunkle, growing up in the suburbs of Chicago in the
- 23:23mid nineteen sixties would have likely heard Gary Mack on the air. Now,
- 23:29Gary Mack would go on to change his name to Gary Gears at some point
- 23:33in the mid sixties. But when Larry Dunkle moved to Texas and got involved
- 23:38in radio and television, maybe as an homage to one of his childhood heroes,
- 23:44he named himself Gary Mack. And the rest is history. And that
- 23:51is a story of Jolly Joe Martin. And next up we have one of
- 23:57my favorite Martins, and that is mister James Herbert Martin. And look at
- 24:03this handsome fella here in this image escorting Marina into the war and commission to
- 24:10testify. He is commonly known as Marina's business manager and agent, essentially her
- 24:21babysitter, similar to the way George de Morenshield and Ruth Payne were previously.
- 24:27He worked at the six Flags in in Dallas at the time of the assassination
- 24:34and took in the Oswalt family the night Ruby shot Oswalt on November twenty fourth.
- 24:41He actually reached out to the Fort Worth Sheriff, who contacted the Secret
- 24:47Service to offer the Oswalt family a place to stay. Only five days later.
- 24:56Marina and her two children moved into the Martin home on November twenty ninth,
- 25:02nineteen sixty three, only five days after Lee was murdered. James Herbert
- 25:08Martin was also a military man. He this is his draft card he signed
- 25:15up in June of nineteen forty five, And this is going to get us
- 25:22to his work history, which Rob and I have done a big deep dive
- 25:27on and it's very interesting. He was working at the Saint Louis Hilton Stratler
- 25:37Hilton Hotel and in nineteen fifty six he was transferred to the Dallas Statler Hilton
- 25:44Hotel. In nineteen fifty nine, he left the Statler Hilton hotel and became
- 25:49a salesman for the Carte Blanche credit card company, which was also a part
- 25:55of the Hilton company. And it's interesting that cart blanche means kind of go
- 26:00wherever you want. But there is an interesting gap in his work history,
- 26:04and that is from mid nineteen fifty nine to mid nineteen sixty two, coincidentally,
- 26:14very close to the time Lee rv. Oswald was in Russia. And
- 26:19we'll get into some of his work history. This is another FBI document that
- 26:27talks about how he was elevated to credit manager at the hotel and left the
- 26:38hotel's employee sometime in nineteen fifty nine and went to work for six Flags over
- 26:44Texas. But as we'll see later, he didn't work for six Flags until
- 26:48nineteen sixty two. This is another FBI document from his colleague who worked who
- 27:02both him and Martin worked at as assistant managers at the Statler Hilton Hotel.
- 27:08Mitchell advised that after Martin left the hotel, he managed the Gay Nineties nightclub
- 27:14and during this period became well acquainted with Jack Ruby. Mister Mitchell told the
- 27:22FBI this after learning that Marina had moved in with Martin feeling that it was
- 27:30relevant information, and I agree with mister Mitchell. There the Gay Nineties Club,
- 27:37well, James Herbert Martin worked there for less than a month in May
- 27:41of nineteen sixty three. According to some documents, there was a private nightclub.
- 27:47This was a private nightclub owned by Clay Martin and the club was owned
- 27:53by Mike Abram, an oil man out of New York, so another oil
- 28:00connection and a plate connection. The Jack Murphy Insurance Company was owned by Jack
- 28:11Murphy, and in addition to owning that company, he was also the lawyer
- 28:15and trustee for the mob Duck, mayor of Saint Louis, Missouri, James
- 28:19Herbert Martin's hometown. And it's possible that in addition to having military ties,
- 28:30he had MOB and CIA ties as well. This is another document that states
- 28:44his employment at the Six Flags in and the Carte Blanche credit card company.
- 28:51But one thing I want to note here is that Martin's father worked for Bell
- 28:56Telephone in Saint Louis, which become a little more interesting in the next slide
- 29:03because after Martin took Marina into their home, there was a straight line installed
- 29:10on December third, nineteen sixty three to the White House Communications in DC.
- 29:18That is mind blowing and I wonder if his dad, who worked for Bell
- 29:26Telephone, helped possibly install some of those telephones in the house. On the
- 29:33third, now we get to John Martin Thorne, who, as many of
- 29:42you know, was Marina's lawyer during her war and commission testimony. He actually
- 29:49applied to be an FBI agent in nineteen fifty one, but was recommended unfavorably.
- 29:56A paid confidential informant told the FBI that two males and two females that
- 30:03appeared at a tourist court and had taken about three reels of camera and film
- 30:07from a car into the tourist cabin, and that informant believes these persons were
- 30:14showing and possibly making other films. John Thorne comes to the tourist court on
- 30:22average of two or three times a week. That's a lot. And where
- 30:29did he go exactly? Well, we will tell you shortly. This is
- 30:36jumping back to James Herbert Martin's warrant commissioned testimony, and curiously Chief Justice Oral
- 30:45Warrant excused himself from this interview and let Alan Dallas conducted and mister Rankin of
- 30:52course, but before leaving wanted to give his regards to mister Thorn, which
- 31:00is interesting and makes you wonder if he knew him. And another little tid
- 31:07that we found was that Chief Justice Earl Warren later instructed the recorder to strike
- 31:14it from the record and tear the tear up the teape underwater. Also in
- 31:23James Sherver Martin's Warreck and Mission testimony, asked about his assassin acquaintance with John
- 31:33Martin, Thorne said it was just a passing one. John had handled some
- 31:38movie work and would probably know something in the area which we were talking.
- 31:44So I think it's pretty conclusive that John Martin Thorn was making his movies at
- 31:52the sixth flag In. So we are going to jump to Wanda Martin,
- 31:57now the wife of James Herbert Martin. Who is Wanda Martin. She's a
- 32:01very mysterious character, but she's a very generous person, according to James Herbert
- 32:08Martin, because he didn't even ask her if Marina and her two infant loud
- 32:15crime kids could move into their home, which already had three kids under the
- 32:21age of fourteen. So not sure how many of you in the audience out
- 32:25there have wives, But not sure how well that would go over with them.
- 32:32This is not DPD membo dated December two, nineteen sixty three. That
- 32:39state's Wanda el Martin is the former Wanda El Hobbs of Missouri, which lines
- 32:45up with her meeting James Herbert there being from the same town. So when
- 32:58Rob and I was about were about six or eight months into our Martin research,
- 33:02we were rousing the new document releases and we found a less redacted version
- 33:10of a file on missus James Herbert Martin. And this was a great easter
- 33:19egg to find because the first two pages of the document are as follows,
- 33:29Yeah, that's right, Joe. So when we're looking at this handwritten note
- 33:31here, it seems to be a letter of recommendation addressed to Lee Wigren,
- 33:37who worked in the Soviet Russian Affairs Division tur Intelligence in the early sixties,
- 33:44and some passages of note in this note it starts off this is not your
- 33:50typical wife and or intercept okay, And at the bottom it appeared what we
- 34:00thought was a letter are but upon further inspection it appears to be the signature
- 34:09used by Benedetto de Flie, the acting Director of Personnel of the Central Intelligence
- 34:15Agency in the early sixties. So it's very clear to us that they were
- 34:22definitely familiar with missus James Herbert Martin and recommending her for a job. And
- 34:28as we'll get to in the next document, here exactly what that job entailed.
- 34:34Yes, we will rob and we don't know that this mus be DeFelice,
- 34:38but we suspect there is a good chance it could be. This is
- 34:45the last page of the document, subject and engagement of spouse redacted as redacted,
- 34:53which would indicate some type of alias terms. The subject individual has been
- 35:00engaged in under oral contract for use under Project Die Circuit. Now there is
- 35:07virtually no nothing on Project Die Circuit. The effected date on the oral contract
- 35:15is nineteen sixty four and shall continue thereafter until terminated. We went on ancestry
- 35:27dot com and looked at some of Wanda El Martin's travel records. This is
- 35:31an Wanda El Martin was a liked traveling. This is her coming back from
- 35:38Venezuela to New Orleans. This is her coming from Japan to San Francisco,
- 35:50California. And we have many more of these documents than we are determining whether
- 36:02this Wanda El is the wife of James Herbert. It's very ongoing, but
- 36:10we do know that the CIA had husband and wife why are intercept teams.
- 36:20One of these was mister and missus Boris Terasov, who translated and transcribed all
- 36:27Russian going from the Soviet embassy coming from the Soviet embassy, and they also
- 36:32transcribed the alleged Oswalt call to the Soviet embassy. So we're James Herbert and
- 36:44Wanda, a CIA husband and wife intercept team wire signal. We think that
- 36:51there's a good possibility they were. And I want to stress the importance of
- 36:57how crucial the those two plus months were before Marina testified, because she was
- 37:05in fact the star witness, so having her being watched over and influenced was
- 37:10absolutely crucial to the War com Mission. And lastly on James Herbert, we
- 37:19have a document from the SS mads Dam, the same ship Lee, Marina
- 37:23and June traveled back from the USSR from and there is a five person Martin
- 37:30party on the manifest list and it says j H. Martin four adults and
- 37:39we think one child, which would make sense because they had three kids,
- 37:46which would have been about thirteen and eleven at the time. And one daughter
- 37:52who would have been about five or four, so possibly the reason for the
- 37:59crossed out rate. There was no other instance of that happening that we saw,
- 38:04So I'm not sure what's going on with all these Martin parties going on
- 38:10everywhere, but they seem to follow Lee very closely. And next we have
- 38:24and for our next segment, we will be covering one of the more mysterious
- 38:29Martins in the assassination story, and that is John T. Martin. Now
- 38:34credit to Tom Scully for finding this photo. This is the real John T.
- 38:38Martin, who took a very interesting film that we will get into.
- 38:44But as you can see in his bio, he's at seventeen, was a
- 38:47very conservative Republican and loved to play chess. That's right, Joe. So.
- 38:54John T. Martin was a Minnesota high school student who was on family
- 39:00vacation in Dallas, and he managed to capture footage of the Walker residents and
- 39:07afterwards the Oswald Street Fractus in New Orleans. On the same role of film,
- 39:14we also dispelled miny myths surrounding the John T. Martin story, including
- 39:21one that he did not serve under General Walker in Germany as previously believed as
- 39:28he was only seventeen in nineteen sixty three, in still in high school,
- 39:32and we found actually no evidence that he ever served in the military. That
- 39:38is correct, Rob And this slide is the top is his bio from his
- 39:47nineteen sixty three senior Cretan a yearbook. As you could see, loved chess,
- 39:55very conservative Republican. And on the bottom is his minute men card.
- 40:02And as you can see his hobbies are chess as well. And also I
- 40:07want you to focus on the microscopy aspect of this, which we'll come into
- 40:14play right here. Well, this is the John Thomas Martin, not Timmins,
- 40:25not Timothy, and as you'll see this address it lines up with his
- 40:30minute men card and all other documents relating to him graduating in nineteen sixty seven,
- 40:37which lines up with his sixty three graduation from Creton. This is a
- 40:45graphic of the student directory that we found, and he majored in science,
- 40:50literature, and the arts, and because of the microscopy interest, we believe
- 40:55that it is safe to assume he majored in some area of science. The
- 41:00picture on the left is from the University of Minnesota from his time there,
- 41:07and on the right, is of course the crete in yearbook. And you
- 41:10could see the similarity and the likeness of both of these photos. All right,
- 41:23So let's get into the John T. Martin film itself. So in
- 41:27mid December, Martin contacted the FBI in Minnesota and turned over his film that
- 41:34he had filmed because he realized that he had captured Lee Harvey Oswald in New
- 41:39Orleans. So the FBI took the film. They sent it to New Orleans
- 41:45who determined that it was of no value whatsoever, and the film was returned
- 41:49to John on January the twenty eighth, nineteen sixty four. Now, when
- 41:54he got the film back, and subsequently after that, after view it,
- 42:00he felt that the FBI had edited some things out of his film. So
- 42:12let's get into the film itself. This is one of the more rare films
- 42:16concerning the assassination in terms of how many copies are out there. So we
- 42:22know, of course that a copy was returned to John by the FBI in
- 42:27sixty four. In nineteen sixty seven, John voluntarily sent a copy to the
- 42:31Garrison investigation. In nineteen sixty eight, Harold Wiseberg visited research fellow researcher Gary
- 42:40Schoener at the University of Minnesota, where John Martin was going to school.
- 42:46He heard about their talk they were giving about the assassination, and Martin contacted
- 42:50them and they made a couple more copies, one for Shooner and one for
- 42:53Weisberg. Subsequent to that, John voln and tarily gave his film to the
- 43:00House Select Committee on Assassinations in the late seventies, and then ultimately turned his
- 43:07film over to the Sixth Floor Museum in two thousand and seven. The slight
- 43:14problem with that is that the copy that the Sixth Floor has was made in
- 43:19nineteen seventy seven according to the film's date code, which means that somebody at
- 43:25the House Select Committee on Assassinations made a copy of the Walk of the Martin
- 43:31film and gave Martin back a copy and kept the original. And there is
- 43:38no John T. Martin film in the archives, as there should be.
- 43:45So we have ourselves a little bit of a quandary here, folks, Yes
- 43:51we do. And the film currently on the Sixth Floor Museum's website is clearly
- 43:59cropped and darkened, edited by our calculations by at least the fourth time,
- 44:06and as you see in the left that is the current slide or screenshot of
- 44:14the Walker mailbox, and on the right is the Martin Shackleford slide from the
- 44:20nineties and you can see the difference as well as this photo concerning the bullet
- 44:29hole in Walker's house which is barely visible on the sixth floor copy or right
- 44:37now obviously darkened and cropped, as well as well as the slides on the
- 44:43Oswalt Street fracas with Brigner. The left is also from a Martin Shackleford slide
- 44:52and the right is a screenshot of the current copy on the sixth Floor Museum
- 44:58website. You can see the difference in the quality, so clearly had it
- 45:06that's right, Joe. Now, the Martin film wasn't the only film to
- 45:09show this street fractus in New Orleans. On August the ninth, there was
- 45:14also another film made called The Doyle Film by young Jim Doyle, fourteen year
- 45:19old kid who was on a family vacation as well. The interesting thing about
- 45:27the Doyle family is they gave an FBI report very quickly after the assassination,
- 45:34actually four days so on November twenty seventh. They said that they observed two
- 45:38young men who were carrying signs which bore pro Cuban inscriptions. They had leafless
- 45:45in their hands, and one of the men wore on his front a yellow
- 45:46orange colored sign which bore as part of his inscription, the words Viva la
- 45:52Fedel. Now, the problem with this eyewitness testimony is that it doesn't appear
- 45:58in either film. Now interesting to note that the Doyles also believed that after
- 46:04turning their film over to the FBI, that the FBI had edited it as
- 46:08well before it was given back to them, because in neither film do we
- 46:13see two men. In the arrest record of that day. One man was
- 46:17arrested. So who was this mysterious other person with Oswald? And why do
- 46:24they not want us to know who it was? That is the million dollar
- 46:29question. So some other anomalies about the Martin film concerned various scenes at Walker's
- 46:40house. This is from John Woods the third book where he describes and goes
- 46:50through all the photos and films of the assassination. And interesting here sequence number
- 46:58three inside the house of General Walker, of the house wall damage from a
- 47:04bullet. Now that is not currently in the sixth Floor Museums version of the
- 47:13Martin film. So that's a problem. It definitely is, and so our
- 47:23working theory is that John Martin was a big fan of Walker and possibly corresponded
- 47:30with him while at Creton, and on that family trip to Dallas in the
- 47:34summer of nineteen sixty three, stopped by his quote Heroes house to say hi.
- 47:42When John T stops by, we know what he records, the mailbox,
- 47:45the house, the bullet hole. Clearly he was inside Walker's home.
- 47:49We do not know how or why he went to New Orleans to get the
- 47:53street fractice on tape in time, So did General Walker tell John T.
- 48:00Martin went in New Orleans to contact someone, maybe someone by the name of
- 48:05Guy Benister, a fellow far right, where to get footage of the commie
- 48:13Oswald. I'm sure most of you would agree that catching both these events on
- 48:17video on the same role of film would be statistically improbable, maybe impossible,
- 48:24or maybe just another coincidence along with the long list of coincidences in the story.
- 48:32So our source at the sixth Ward Museum revealed John Martin gave the video
- 48:37to Gary Mack in two thousand and seven under the condition he never wanted to
- 48:40be contacted. It's also important to note that the General Walker, part of
- 48:45the film was never discussed in the community. And to the two thousands,
- 48:53that's right, Joe. And just to prove that General Walker did have some
- 48:59tie to the extreme right wing and Minute Men in New Orleans. He was
- 49:06actually there from November twentieth, nineteen sixty three, until the morning of the
- 49:12assassination the twenty second, when he left New Orleans. This is according to
- 49:16the Louisiana State Police report of his activities in New Orleans, meeting with people
- 49:21such as Judge Leander Perez, Joseph Newborough who was an associate of Guy Banister,
- 49:27and probably Guy Banister as well. So Walker was no stranger to New
- 49:30Orleans and the extreme right wing elements there. And just to illustrate some things
- 49:39about the John T. Martin film to you folks, note at the top
- 49:44of the map Jackson Square. That is the last picture on Martin's film before
- 49:51he films the os Wall Street fracas. A commonly held belief in the community
- 49:58is that he heard commotion and rushed over to catch this on film. Now,
- 50:02as you can notice here and count count along with me. Uh you
- 50:07know, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
- 50:10eight, possibly eight or nine. Good street blocks before we even get
- 50:15to the Habana bar on Decatur Street and Kasa Roka a couple of doors down
- 50:21that is where Carlos Brigner's store was, and he was kind of right on
- 50:27the corner of Decatur and Canal. So you leave the cater maker right on
- 50:30Canal Street and go down another three blocks to where the street fract has actually
- 50:36happened. And there is absolutely no way unless he has super sonic hearing,
- 50:44that Martin could have heard this commotion going on and rushed over to catch this
- 50:49on film. It seems more like he was maybe directed to go there.
- 51:00On August the Lee, Harvey Oswald wrote a letter to Vt Lee, the
- 51:05chairman of the Fair Play for Cuba Committee, in which he explained that while
- 51:10handing out FPCC handbills, he'd been attacked by Cuban exiles and the incident had
- 51:15quote robbed me of what support I had, leaving me alone. Oswald also
- 51:21wrote that he was officially cautioned by the police. Now, the trouble with
- 51:27this is the actual fractice that Martin caught on film happened on August the ninth.
- 51:34This letter was written on August first, So did it mean that Oswald
- 51:39had and or other parties were going to stage a street fracas and film it,
- 51:49making notorious or is this a reference to an earlier occurrence that seemingly happened
- 51:55before August first? And Henry Hurt's book Reasonable Day Out Jake Easterling relates a
- 52:04story that Oswald was beaten by some Cuban exiles outside of the Halbanah Bar and
- 52:10that the cops came and nobody was arrested and it wasn't filmed. So did
- 52:21they kind of recreate things to sheep dip him just a little bit more,
- 52:28catch it on film, get him arrested, and make him a little bit
- 52:31more notorious. Yes, the the August first or the previous fractus might have
- 52:44not gotten the attention needed. So now we are going to go to John
- 52:49T. Martin and create in high school. Recently. John T. Martin
- 52:52we believe is still alive and would be seventy seven years old as of today.
- 52:58He is, and we found documents that he is still donating to his
- 53:04alma mater, Cretan as late as twenty thirteen. And we have a few
- 53:07of these two of these examples on this slide. This is the fiftieth reunion
- 53:16in twenty thirteen. John T. Martin is among one of these old gentlemen
- 53:23here. Of course, it is very hard to tell who he is which
- 53:29one, but we think we might have found him. As you see in
- 53:35the left that is the Cretan High school yearbook photo, in the middle the
- 53:38University of Minnesota photo, and on the right the twenty thirteen reunion photo.
- 53:46And the likeness and similarities of his face knows ears is strikingly similar and very
- 53:55interesting to think about. And you know, we would love to hear what
- 54:01John T. Martin actually did and was instructed or was instructed to do,
- 54:10and we hope to maybe get a statement from him one day. Yep,
- 54:21that would definitely be interesting. Joe. So if you're out there or you
- 54:23know, you know this man, know that we'd like to just talk to
- 54:28him. And there's a lot more to the John T. Martin story that
- 54:31we didn't have time to get into today, a lot more, folks,
- 54:36so make sure you're following along on YouTube after this presentation and now some more
- 54:42some more of the more notorious Martins in the Martin story, and for our
- 54:47final segment, we have the Watergate Jay Martins yes, you heard that correctly.
- 54:53Did you know that three Watergate burglars, all who were active and had
- 55:00alleged connections to the JFK assassination, used the J. Martin alias? Well,
- 55:07I didn't before we started researching this. And the first one is Eugenio
- 55:14Rolando Martinez, a lifelong CIA agent who was very much active in nineteen sixty
- 55:20three, had known J. Martin alias. This document is from nineteen seventy
- 55:24three. The FBI was looking into if these two other John W. And
- 55:30John P. Martin aliases were in fact used by Eugenio. Very interesting,
- 55:38and this is Martin A graphic of Martin's restaurant where Lee Harvey Oswald cashed at
- 55:47least nine checks from the Riley Coffee Company. Now we looked into, now
- 55:52this restaurant was owned by Roland J. Martin, and we looked into the
- 55:59possibility that this was Eugenie of Martinez, because that was of course his middle
- 56:04name, and we determined it was not just another crazy Martin coincidence. That's
- 56:12right, Joe, which brings us to James McCord, who was given an
- 56:16Edward J. Martin alias by the notorious E. Howard Hunt before the Watergate
- 56:22break ins. McCord said that his contact was a mister John Martin from the
- 56:30DJ as you can see below from the Watergate hearings, they said it was
- 56:36from the Internal Security Division, chief of the Evaluation Station. I believe his
- 56:40name was mister John Martin, but we quickly determined that actually McCord's boss was
- 56:51a mister John Martin, and he was not DJ, but in fact the
- 56:54acting CIA director for a few months before William Colby took over DCI in September
- 57:00of nineteen seventy three. As you can see below. Can't make it up.
- 57:08And you also can't talk about the Watergate burglars without mentioning Frank Fiurini Sturgis,
- 57:16who allegedly also had credentials in the name of mister Martin. And this
- 57:22is also from the Watergate hearings yep. And some other just random crazy Martin
- 57:30and coincidences. We found where that Oswald's mother, Marguerite, worked at Martin's
- 57:36department store in Brooklyn in nineteen fifty five when they were living in New York.
- 57:43And of course the bottom of graphic there John T. Martin. Of
- 57:46course that name stood out to me. But this guy was a python fancier
- 57:52who ran a voodoo museum in New Orleans. We quickly determined that this was
- 57:59not the guy that we're looking for it here, And interestingly enough, JFK
- 58:06proposed to Jackie at a place called the Martin's Pub in Georgetown in d C.
- 58:13And they have a booth there named the Proposal Booth, and they also
- 58:15have another booth called the Rambler Seat where he wrote his inaugural presidential address in
- 58:21the Martins Pub. Which brings us to coincidence. To sum up our presentation
- 58:32here today, we were looking for a very powerful quote and we found one
- 58:37from New York Times bestselling author Richard Paul Evans, and it goes like this,
- 58:43sometimes a coincidence is no coincidence at all, but a purposeful action in
- 58:49disguise. And we thought that that really really hit home for us, and
- 58:55hopefully it sums up our presentation in a short sentence. So of course,
- 59:05we couldn't do this presentation alone. These are just some of the people that
- 59:08have helped us along the way during this presentation, and they come from all
- 59:13different walks, whether it be conspiracy theorists, loan nutters, researchers, regular
- 59:21people, people associate with the assassination people not We're big believers in collaborative research
- 59:28and we believe that that is the key to moving this case forward. In
- 59:37conclusion, we did not have time to get into a lot of the detailed
- 59:42stuff that we wanted to here today for the sake of time of the presentation,
- 59:46but we're going to be doing an extended series on YouTube in live video
- 59:52form moving forward here after the Lancer presentation, So make sure to head over
