- 0:06Speaker 1: Let's get right to it. The third hour of the
- 0:07Speaker 1: morning show show five three hundred and seventy. But who's counting?
- 0:12Speaker 1: It is Thursday, May first, which means it is National
- 0:17Speaker 1: Day of Prayer. State capitals across the country. Prayer will
- 0:21Speaker 1: be again at noon it is. It's going to take
- 0:26Speaker 1: place at Florida's capital in between the historic capital and
- 0:29Speaker 1: the new capital and in the plaza area at noon today.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Joining us as the man who was governor for this
- 0:36Speaker 1: state for eight years and now our ranking member of
- 0:40Speaker 1: the United States Senate Rick Scott, how are a Senator?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Good morning, going on our great day, the wind off,
- 0:49Speaker 2: the things happened in our country, a lot of what
- 0:51Speaker 2: to do, and God clearly bust our country, and I
- 0:55Speaker 2: think we need dolls. Be very appreciative. I want to
- 0:58Speaker 2: recognized Neilson, who who is very active in prayer in
- 1:03Speaker 2: Tallahassee and she's always he's always praying for me and
- 1:07Speaker 2: my family and I got I got to know when
- 1:09Speaker 2: I was elected as governor.
- 1:12Speaker 1: She's a delightful lady and leading the effort once again
- 1:15Speaker 1: here at the state capitol. Specifically, Senator, how do you
- 1:19Speaker 1: think people ought to be praying for our government? Leaders.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I think, you know what I always pray for is,
- 1:26Speaker 2: you know, give me the courage and the wisdom, I
- 1:29Speaker 2: mean one of the wisdom to do the right thing,
- 1:31Speaker 2: the courage to do the right thing. And I think
- 1:34Speaker 2: that's what we need to hope for our leaders. They
- 1:38Speaker 2: need to be humble and the so and they need
- 1:45Speaker 2: to remember, you know, why they were elected.
- 1:48Speaker 1: So.
- 1:48Speaker 2: But I think that the prayer for wisdom and their
- 1:51Speaker 2: for courage to do the right thing is probably the
- 1:53Speaker 2: most important thing.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Recently, you reintroduced some legislation with Senator Tammy Baldwin, the
- 1:59Speaker 1: Cool Line Act. Tell us about it.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Well, it's pretty simple. I personally don't believe we should
- 2:06Speaker 2: ever buy anything from China. Communist China, the country that
- 2:10Speaker 2: has created precursors to kill almost eighty thousand Americans the year,
- 2:13Speaker 2: the country that steals all of our technologies, build the military,
- 2:19Speaker 2: and threaten our allies. A country that wants to dominate
- 2:22Speaker 2: the world and hates the American way alike. So I've
- 2:27Speaker 2: been trying to get a legation passed and they got
- 2:28Speaker 2: a pre and I'm really disappointed Amazon, unbelievably disappointed. Amazon.
- 2:33Speaker 2: They said they could put tell where how much the
- 2:35Speaker 2: tariffs are going to be but they can't put online
- 2:38Speaker 2: where it's thinks and something's produced. When I buy, if
- 2:43Speaker 2: I get on Amazon, if I can't find out where
- 2:46Speaker 2: it's made, I assume it's made in China. So I'm
- 2:48Speaker 2: not buying it because it infuriates me. When I buy
- 2:51Speaker 2: something appears to be created here in the United States
- 2:54Speaker 2: and I get the boxes maid in China, I send
- 2:56Speaker 2: it back. And so what this would do is tell
- 2:59Speaker 2: people upfront, Amazon, Walmart, the everybody that sells online, tell
- 3:05Speaker 2: us where this stuff's made. Don't make it hard. I
- 3:09Speaker 2: want to buy a stuffing the other day, and so
- 3:13Speaker 2: I just called and the company they shocking. They answered
- 3:17Speaker 2: the hunderdline and I said, okay, so you know you
- 3:20Speaker 2: say you make American products. I said, where's this one made?
- 3:22Speaker 2: Always made in China. He said, well, why did you
- 3:25Speaker 2: put that on your website? Well, he wouldn't sell the
- 3:30Speaker 2: buy American stuff. And I want my bills and tell
- 3:34Speaker 2: us where to live in daylight these things are made,
- 3:36Speaker 2: so we can make it an informed decision, because I
- 3:38Speaker 2: personally do not want to buy anything made in communist China.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I don't. I think we have to think about who
- 3:43Speaker 2: our enemies are they've chosen. They have chosen the bear enemies.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Stop buying from them.
- 3:49Speaker 1: How does the legislation? Does the legislation deal with the
- 3:53Speaker 1: pass throughs? We know that South Korea is suddenly going
- 3:57Speaker 1: to start addressing that at least they claim. What about
- 4:00Speaker 1: those countries that are taking Chinese products and relabeling them?
- 4:06Speaker 2: First of all, nothing's going to be perfect.
- 4:08Speaker 1: It is.
- 4:08Speaker 2: It's where it's manual, it's supposed to be. It's supposed
- 4:10Speaker 2: to be where it's manufactured. Are they going to play games? Yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 2: there's gonna be. China is a despicable government. They're going
- 4:19Speaker 2: to try everything they can. Uh. But guess what South
- 4:22Speaker 2: Korea wants us to be their ally. They want us
- 4:26Speaker 2: to have troops to make sure China North Korea don't invade.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Guess what act responsibly. I'm working on Op ED right now,
- 4:35Speaker 2: and it's real simple. Here's what it says. We are
- 4:37Speaker 2: going to have to start choosing our economic partners. Stop
- 4:42Speaker 2: buying oil from Russia, Europe, stop buying oil from Russia.
- 4:46Speaker 2: You want us to help you defend as a member
- 4:49Speaker 2: of NATO when Russia wants to invade. I was just
- 4:51Speaker 2: over over in Finland and Denmark, and so you want
- 4:55Speaker 2: us to be there to be your backstop in the
- 4:58Speaker 2: Certis case. Is there are ship's on the ground right there. Okay,
- 5:02Speaker 2: every country in Europe needs to stop buying. Now. I
- 5:05Speaker 2: know Finland's not, I know Denmark's not, I know Estonia's not.
- 5:07Speaker 2: But guess what Germany is and I should want our
- 5:11Speaker 2: troops there. We have a lot of troops in Germany
- 5:14Speaker 2: because they don't want Russian baby. Okay, so pick your pardon.
- 5:18Speaker 1: At what point, what do you think it will take
- 5:21Speaker 1: for us to get an actual budget that is passed
- 5:26Speaker 1: by Congress and signed by a president versus continuing resolutions crisis?
- 5:33Speaker 2: I mean, so that's why I ran, you know, I
- 5:36Speaker 2: ran to be the leader, and I said, come on,
- 5:38Speaker 2: we're going to do We're going to do appropriations. We're
- 5:40Speaker 2: going to go to a real cycle. I don't believe
- 5:44Speaker 2: we're going to get a budget this year. First off,
- 5:47Speaker 2: it does take sixty votes, but we're going to world
- 5:51Speaker 2: end up on September thirty. We're going to end up
- 5:53Speaker 2: with a continuing resolution because you know what it is.
- 5:57Speaker 2: It's like they don't they don't understand there's no connect
- 6:02Speaker 2: up here between interest rates being high and wasteful government spending.
- 6:08Speaker 2: No connection here between. Why is inflation still so high?
- 6:12Speaker 2: Will It's because we're spending two trillion dollars more and
- 6:17Speaker 2: collect two trillion. We've had a fifty three percent increase
- 6:22Speaker 2: in spending the last five years and a two percent
- 6:24Speaker 2: increase in population. Why and it's like it's pulling teeth.
- 6:29Speaker 2: So we need to reduce spending by two trillion dollars.
- 6:32Speaker 2: You know what the House is talking about doing in
- 6:34Speaker 2: their reconsilation, reducing it by one hundred and fifty billion dollars.
- 6:38Speaker 1: It's absurd.
- 6:38Speaker 2: We need reduced like two trillion. I mean, I mean,
- 6:43Speaker 2: I think the election was about secure the border, get
- 6:46Speaker 2: inflation under control. Inflation is not going to get under
- 6:50Speaker 2: control if we don't balance this budget. It's not it's all.
- 6:53Speaker 2: It's all because we borrow money and interest rates. Think
- 6:58Speaker 2: about this, person, Just tell me we only have a
- 7:01Speaker 2: twenty eight trade dollar economy. We have to refinance nine
- 7:06Speaker 2: trillion dollars of treasuries this year and sell to Americans
- 7:11Speaker 2: two trillion dollars more of treasuries. It just it just
- 7:17Speaker 2: boggles my mind that people think, oh, sure, it's trait's
- 7:20Speaker 2: going to come down. How right, Yeah, if there's if
- 7:26Speaker 2: we start paying off the debt and so then then
- 7:29Speaker 2: you know, people say, well I want to buy treasury,
- 7:30Speaker 2: so I have to I have to buy them, and
- 7:32Speaker 2: then then there'll be a bigger there'll be a bigger
- 7:35Speaker 2: needs than supply. But we are, I mean we are.
- 7:38Speaker 2: We are running staggering deficits right now. We have got
- 7:43Speaker 2: to get this. But I think I think the budget's
- 7:45Speaker 2: going to be tied to when there's a financial crisis.
- 7:47Speaker 2: And here's your financial crisis. Look at gold. Gold is
- 7:51Speaker 2: doubled in five years. That's telling you something. It's not
- 7:54Speaker 2: because everybody's buying more gold jewelry. It's because people have
- 7:58Speaker 2: decided they have less trust in the dog than they
- 8:00Speaker 2: do in a hard asset like gold.
- 8:04Speaker 1: It makes sense.
- 8:04Speaker 2: That's telling you something.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Absolutely, it is. You know, if the federal government were
- 8:09Speaker 1: like everybody else's budget that's listening to us talk right now,
- 8:12Speaker 1: they couldn't borrow money because they would be out over
- 8:15Speaker 1: their skills, they couldn't do it well.
- 8:18Speaker 2: And then J Powell over the Federal Reserve has balance cheap.
- 8:21Speaker 2: He's gotten bought long term treasuries, long term government back
- 8:25Speaker 2: bond to keep long term interest rates down, which sounds
- 8:28Speaker 2: really wonderful, right. Guess what it did? It cost it
- 8:30Speaker 2: messallocation capital. And he's now short one trillion dollars and
- 8:37Speaker 2: losing one hundred billion dollars year. So that bank that
- 8:41Speaker 2: you might want to go borrow a loan to buy
- 8:43Speaker 2: your first business like I did. No, I need you money,
- 8:47Speaker 2: Jay Powell. He's paying me money just to hold treasuries.
- 8:49Speaker 2: I think I'll just keep doing.
- 8:50Speaker 1: That, Senator, I want to change gears for our final
- 8:53Speaker 1: couple of minutes here. I had flag to your team
- 8:56Speaker 1: and ask them to get in front of you the
- 8:59Speaker 1: case of pat ta A Domiac.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I saw, I've read this.
- 9:02Speaker 1: We need you, we need your help.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna yeah, I just I just saw this,
- 9:09Speaker 2: So I'm gonna see what I can do. I'll get
- 9:10Speaker 2: you know, I always have to get more facts. But man,
- 9:13Speaker 2: this is it sure seems like this is makes no
- 9:16Speaker 2: sense what they did this? Why do why do government
- 9:22Speaker 2: people want to put hard working veterans into prison?
- 9:27Speaker 1: In this case, they wanted to make an example of him.
- 9:30Speaker 1: And the bottom line, though, is is they framed him
- 9:32Speaker 1: to do it. And the research that Lee Williams has
- 9:36Speaker 1: done on This is is irrefutable, and I can only
- 9:39Speaker 1: hope that you have the opportunity and as a fellow
- 9:43Speaker 1: navy man, are able to get this in front of
- 9:45Speaker 1: President Trump, because sadly Trump has to has to take action.
- 9:49Speaker 1: This kid should not be languishing in prison.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Twenty he should be in prison a day.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:55Speaker 2: And everyone I've.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Read and every single thing that he was convicted of,
- 9:59Speaker 1: every single weapon that was quote illegal, is legally owned
- 10:02Speaker 1: and can be bought online right now, every single one
- 10:05Speaker 1: of them. So I appreciate it, Senator, anything you could
- 10:09Speaker 1: do to help him, I greatly appreciate it.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Sir. I will go to Preston.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Senator, thank you. You know we're here for you anytime,
- 10:18Speaker 1: all right, take care by mine. Thank you us. Senator
- 10:21Speaker 1: Rick Scott with us this morning, seventeen minutes past the hour.
- 10:25Speaker 1: It is The Morning Show with Preston Scott
