- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: August.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: Fifth.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: Right now we're talking about.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's quarterback Trevor Lawrence, how's he playing right now through ten days of Jacksonville Jaguar's training camp.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: First preseason game in this weekend is he going to suit up.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: He is going to prepare as if he is.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't know yet.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if the Jaguars, I don't know if Liam Cohen knows yet exactly what they're going to do.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: They've been going back and forth, but
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: Rose, whether he plays this weekend, the question remains, how is he playing right now?
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: How comfortable is he in this offense with his receivers?
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: All that good stuff?
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna dive into it here today.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: Just, I've gotten this question a good bit, like, how is Trevor playing?
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: How's he looking?

- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence former first overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguar is going into year five.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Isn't that crazy?
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: Twenty one.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: You're everyone wants to forget.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: Twenty two a year.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone wishes they could go back to.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: Twenty three.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: Start off unbelievably
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: fellow part with injuries and other unfortunate situations and twenty twenty four year everyone wants to forget so that leads us to here now.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: When you just look at the stats that I've been counting
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: against my will throughout training camp for Trevor Lawrence.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: The stats are wildly impressive, but I think it's insane to try to base what you expect it player to do in the regular season based off of training camp stats because
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: There's just so many different situations and you're not in like the flow of a game.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: You're not going against a new defense every single week.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: There's just so many different variables and it's a little wild to even do what I'm doing but because so many folks request it and want to see it that's why we have kind of track of the big numbers for Trevor Lawrence and so
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's one fourteen of one seventy four sixteen touchdowns four in exceptions seven drops one of those led to an interception one turn over worthy play dropped interception by Darnell Savage so I think
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: Rams quarterbacks, Baker Mayfield with the bucks last year.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think these guys were, you know, throwing a little over five hundred passes in a season, something like that.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I basically said, all right, he's got Travis throwing a hundred seventy four passes.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: If you throw three times that, five hundred twenty two, which is close to where they probably could be at the end of the season, that's
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: Again, sixty five percent completion percentage.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's forty eight touchdown passes twelve interceptions and that's just silly numbers, right?
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like that doesn't tell you anything in my opinion.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: But it does tell you his counting stats from training camp have been really good.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: I will tell you right now.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: Regardless of the counting stats because again, I don't think that's what matters.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think that this has been Trevor Lawrence's best training camp so far.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: by pretty wide margin.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: I really strongly believe that.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: And he's doing a lot right now to try to improve his game.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he is improving in all the areas that he's really been focused on this season, this off season, and this season so far.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: The footwork pre and post nap, right?
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like he has changed when he's in shotgun, which will be a lot.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: He has changed
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: which foot is forward, the left foot, the right foot, doing the left foot, which is the goofy foot.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's what Liam Cohen calls it.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: Even though he's right handed and right footed, that can get you into quicker, better base, a better base quicker.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: then with your right foot forward in certain situations.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: So a lot of quarterback are doing that.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence wanted to do that this season.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's one thing he's been doing with his footwork.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think that it's helping him.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: Now we'll see how it goes like once the bullets are alive and
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: Once he's actually going against a different defense, that's going to be the ultimate test, right?
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: But to me, I think that that was really cool.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then I also think, you know, just working on the footwork from a timing and rhythm standpoint with marrying that with the progression, with the reads, that's another thing they've been highly focused on.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: All the different checks at the line, you know, kill plays like cans is what they call it in Jacksonville with Liam Cohen, like kill kill kill.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: change the play, figure out what's a better look for the defense you're seeing.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: He's been working on all that stuff.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: You're seeing him grow in that department.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen multiple examples of him changing a play or recognizing a defense and taking advantage of it, which is really cool.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: The eye manipulation, something he's been working on a ton, and it's something that he wasn't coached a lot prior to.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: At this point in his career, he wasn't coached on that point a lot, but he is working on it.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: You have seen him do it in the past.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: You have seen him use the shoulder fakes to get defenders out of position, but the eye manipulation to open up bigger windows.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: He's something he's been working on, and I think growing in.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: Just his connection with his new receivers, like two of his top three receivers are brand new.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: Tommy Brown, Travis Hunter, you know, he doesn't have editing or he doesn't have Christian Kirk.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: These are guys he felt a big connection with.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: He does have Brian Thomas Jr.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: And those guys are still growing their connection.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that's fair to say.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, just having the confidence to take the easy throw to do the check down if you need to do that.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's growing in that area.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think just being fully confident in what he's seeing
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: in his footwork, his mechanics, in his offensive line, in his receivers, all that stuff is just like kind of coming back because I do think he lost confidence last year and even if he says he did not, I believe he did based on how he played at times last year.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: I don't blame him for losing confidence with the group he was working with with some of the injuries that were around him.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's making progress in all these areas.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's on track to be a really good quarterback and this Liam Cohen offensive system.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm concerned that there will be too many times where the offensive line lets him down a little bit.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: I do think one hundred percent like for Walker little for for hands-on Harrison playing against Josh Hines Allen, Trayvon Walker all the time is going to make them better.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: So those guys are unbelievably difficult to deal with on a day and a day basis in practice.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a good thing.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: My biggest concern really past protection wise has been.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: Up the A gap.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: And you haven't seen that as much.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: And camp from just like a defensive line perspective, because you haven't seen Mason Smith there, except et cetera.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, you have seen some pressures up the A gap, B gap from the second level as well.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm worried about that interior versus some of the better delines in football, interior delines in football.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: So, we're worried about that.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: So, we're worried about ball security, you know, with catching the ball consistently, just throughout the receiving core and running backs out of the backfield and fumbles, and I think pass protection from the backs every time I look, it's been improved.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: Every I'm paying attention to that a lot and I've seen a lot of guys picking up the assignment they need to be picking up to help Trevor Lawrence be able to get rid of the football before the pressure gets there.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully that's a sign of good things to come.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think the defense for the jacks still has a lot to prove.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: They've done a lot of good things.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to dive into my biggest question mark about the defense right now, but we will get into that at some point.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: because we're focused on Trevor here.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I think this is the best training camp he's had by wide margin.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: He has taken care of the football.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: So, so much better than I have seen him in any other training camp throughout his career.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, just the touchdown to interception ratio in training camp for Trevor has been really strong.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: Um, look, I strongly believe in the offense of design for the jacks, Liam Cohen and company, Grant Yedinsky, all the minds coming together to put together this offense.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: The intentionality of the coaching points that we've talked about, the things they're trying to get them to improve mechanically and mentally.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: The play calling and play sequencing.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen, I just so strongly believe in that part of his, his game as a coach.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: I believe in Trevor Lawrence.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: I believe he would be better in early September in this offense than he is right now.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: I also believe in Brian Thomas Jr., and Travis Hunter to that most.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: So those are a lot of good things to have, in my opinion, a foundation of offensively.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: In the offensive design, the intentionality of the coaching, the play calling and sequencing, the quarterback, the top two receivers,
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good foundation for an offense to build off of.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: I strongly believe that.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see how it ends up playing out, comes September.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe y'all for good one.
