- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're picking up where we
- 0:06Speaker 1: left off with the interview from the electrical engineer at
- 0:10Speaker 1: MCC with the olig investigators. Answer, so we had received
- 0:14Speaker 1: information saying that the video was attempted to be recovered
- 0:17Speaker 1: by the FBI. What was meant by that? Answer? They've
- 0:21Speaker 1: got other stuff that they could probably do, But yeah, nothing.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Question But did they obtain anything, any hard drives or
- 0:28Speaker 1: he gets cut off by the engineer. They took all
- 0:31Speaker 1: the hard drives, they took everything. They took the whole recorder,
- 0:34Speaker 1: the whole recording system, they took the next day. Question,
- 0:39Speaker 1: but there's no way it was recorded. So if they
- 0:42Speaker 1: say it was corrupt and it was unable to be retrieved,
- 0:45Speaker 1: what does that mean in Layman's terms? Answer, there's no video,
- 0:49Speaker 1: it's probably garbage. Question, But there's nothing. Does that just
- 0:53Speaker 1: mean that there's no recording? Why would they use the
- 0:55Speaker 1: word corrupt? Answer because it's pretty much, you know, a
- 0:59Speaker 1: computer is like one to zero, So probably when they
- 1:03Speaker 1: finally get to that, they couldn't retrieve anything. Nothing like
- 1:06Speaker 1: you could see or make tangible like no real video.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Question So that's two different things. Right, It's not like
- 1:12Speaker 1: they didn't retrieve anything. It just means they found the file,
- 1:15Speaker 1: they couldn't open it. Answer, they couldn't see it. Yes,
- 1:19Speaker 1: question that means something recorded. Answer not necessarily. It could
- 1:24Speaker 1: be garbage. Garbage can record and you think that's a
- 1:26Speaker 1: good thing, but it's not a good thing. It says
- 1:29Speaker 1: it was recording. That's why I say that when a
- 1:31Speaker 1: camera is good or bad, Like I can have a
- 1:34Speaker 1: camera that just looking at this and you're saying, Okay,
- 1:37Speaker 1: it's good, but it's not looking at the whole room.
- 1:40Speaker 1: This is nothing. This is garbage. It doesn't The camera
- 1:44Speaker 1: just knows it. It's working until I fix it, and
- 1:46Speaker 1: then it records the whole room. Then you know it's working. Question.
- 1:51Speaker 1: When you went in on the tenth to take a
- 1:53Speaker 1: look at the video, did you actually see the recording
- 1:55Speaker 1: files or did you not see any files at all? Question?
- 2:00Speaker 1: I just know the drives were bad, and I think
- 2:02Speaker 1: I tried to Yeah, because they were like axed out
- 2:05Speaker 1: when they're not working. So you're not going to see
- 2:07Speaker 1: any recording files. You'll see live video, but you won't
- 2:10Speaker 1: see anything recording. Question. So you use the software answer yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Question to try to open the files? Answer yeah. Question,
- 2:18Speaker 1: but you didn't actually go in and try to find
- 2:21Speaker 1: the actual base files for the recording from that night?
- 2:24Speaker 1: Answer no. Question. Okay, So was the camera connected to
- 2:27Speaker 1: a network? Answer yeah. Question who had access to that network?
- 2:33Speaker 1: Answer mainly whoever had password to look at the night's vision.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Usually I give out the password or a computer service.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Question at that point, who had access? Answer? I think
- 2:44Speaker 1: most of the lieutenants had access, the warden had access,
- 2:47Speaker 1: SIS had access, I had access, and I believe computer
- 2:51Speaker 1: services and maybe a few staff members here and there.
- 2:55Speaker 1: But they just looked at live video, nothing recorded or
- 2:57Speaker 1: indiscernible video. Question So that was my next question. Could
- 3:02Speaker 1: they have done anything when they logged in to manipulate
- 3:05Speaker 1: the video? Answer? No, you can't stop the newer system.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You can the old system. You pretty much have to
- 3:11Speaker 1: go in there and manually do it. Like you can't
- 3:14Speaker 1: just you would have to go on the recorders. I
- 3:16Speaker 1: don't think anybody here knew or knows how to do that. Question.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Did anyone outside the institution have access? Like because it
- 3:23Speaker 1: was on the network, does like someone at the central
- 3:26Speaker 1: office anyone have access to it? Answer? From what they
- 3:30Speaker 1: told me there's no back doors to it. So question
- 3:34Speaker 1: so it was a closed network answer closed, yeah, closed, yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And house thing. Question do you know if any situation
- 3:41Speaker 1: about came up in the past where it required that
- 3:44Speaker 1: someone in the central office needed to log in and
- 3:47Speaker 1: see the video and they were able to do it remotely?
- 3:50Speaker 1: Answer no, I don't know if the old system the
- 3:53Speaker 1: new system you can do that. The old system, I'm
- 3:55Speaker 1: not sure. I don't believe anybody from the region or
- 3:58Speaker 1: anybody saw video on the old system. Question as far
- 4:03Speaker 1: as when you left on August ninth, you knew that
- 4:05Speaker 1: a number of the cameras were down. When you came
- 4:07Speaker 1: back on August tenth, do you know if it was
- 4:09Speaker 1: the same cameras that were down. Answer yes, it was
- 4:13Speaker 1: the same area cameras that went down. It's the same recorder.
- 4:17Speaker 1: He gets cut off by the investigator. So there weren't
- 4:20Speaker 1: additional cameras that were down. Answer no, they would go
- 4:23Speaker 1: down and come back up. No question. All right, So
- 4:26Speaker 1: when you left on August ninth it stopped recording, No
- 4:29Speaker 1: additional cameras went down. Answer no. Question between August ninth
- 4:33Speaker 1: and August tenth, when you were returned answer yes. Question
- 4:38Speaker 1: all right, And did you do you know if anyone
- 4:41Speaker 1: had access to those cameras from six am to let's
- 4:44Speaker 1: say ten am on August tenth. Answer, well, I left
- 4:48Speaker 1: probably two that afternoon. I don't believe that there's anybody
- 4:51Speaker 1: that would have to go into that room to do anything.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Question were you in that room almost the whole time? Answer? Yeah.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Question do you know of anybody else that went into
- 5:01Speaker 1: that room? Answer? Just the SIS tech that was there,
- 5:05Speaker 1: but he doesn't go in the back room. He usually
- 5:08Speaker 1: goes in the front room. Question okay. Answer and when
- 5:13Speaker 1: he leaves, that's pretty much it. There's no reason for
- 5:15Speaker 1: anybody to go in the back room. It's their evidence
- 5:19Speaker 1: room too, so they kind of don't let just anybody,
- 5:21Speaker 1: you know, just walk back there. Question after the incident,
- 5:25Speaker 1: were you the first person back there? Question? Yeah, I
- 5:28Speaker 1: believe so. And nothing looked hampered with. It all looked
- 5:31Speaker 1: like the day when I left it. It looked the
- 5:33Speaker 1: same way. Question and it's SIS Tech that was back there.
- 5:37Speaker 1: His name is redacted. Answer yeah, I believe so. Question
- 5:41Speaker 1: can you spell it? Answer redacted? He's retired now. Question
- 5:48Speaker 1: the only camera that you said was over that door
- 5:51Speaker 1: in the shoe when you viewed it, was it granny
- 5:53Speaker 1: or was it a good view? Answer? Eh, I look
- 5:58Speaker 1: at the cameras enough. I can make out something. Most
- 6:01Speaker 1: people would say it was grainy. But you can make
- 6:03Speaker 1: out enough if you see anything that was going on.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Question Okay, I've got nothing more on that line. Question okay,
- 6:10Speaker 1: now on July twenty third. July twenty third, that's before
- 6:15Speaker 1: question No, sorry, I take it back. Talk about the
- 6:18Speaker 1: phones now. Answer okay. As part of your job, right,
- 6:23Speaker 1: do you maintain the phones in the system. Answer yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 1: I do the phone switch or the PBX, I maintain that.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Question as part do you recall after this incident? What
- 6:34Speaker 1: was the preservation done of the phone recordings? Answer? I
- 6:38Speaker 1: believe my warden at the time asked me to look
- 6:40Speaker 1: up to see who was making phone calls or who
- 6:43Speaker 1: possibly in the shoe was getting phone calls that night.
- 6:46Speaker 1: And I did find something. Question this is Warden redacted?
- 6:50Speaker 1: Answer yes, question and you did find something? Answer yes,
- 6:53Speaker 1: question what did you find? Answer? It was a phone
- 6:57Speaker 1: call on the tier that they believe Epstein was taking
- 7:00Speaker 1: a shower, because I guess he got a shower and
- 7:02Speaker 1: somebody gave him a phone call. I believe they found
- 7:05Speaker 1: the phone call. That's what I believe. I'm not too
- 7:07Speaker 1: sure who did that, but there was a phone call made.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Question did you provide a copy of that over answer yes,
- 7:16Speaker 1: question to the DOJ. Answer No, I gave it to
- 7:19Speaker 1: my actual supervisor. To the warden question was that a
- 7:23Speaker 1: recorded call? Answer no, it was just a log to
- 7:26Speaker 1: see how long the call was. Like when the call
- 7:28Speaker 1: starts and when it ends. There's no recording. It's a
- 7:31Speaker 1: legal call, so legal calls are protected. You can't give
- 7:35Speaker 1: you know out the legal call information. Question okay, answer
- 7:42Speaker 1: or question again by another investigator, but you see who
- 7:45Speaker 1: dialed it and how long it was on? Question Now,
- 7:49Speaker 1: is every phone in the facility recorded other than the
- 7:52Speaker 1: legal calls? Answer the inmate phones are recorded. Yes. Question
- 7:57Speaker 1: what about from co to co? Answer no, that was
- 8:01Speaker 1: not recorded. Question none of the Let's just say an
- 8:06Speaker 1: inmate has access can get to the cophone if they
- 8:09Speaker 1: make a phone call. Answer, well, you try not to
- 8:12Speaker 1: give them access to it. Question but they're never recorded
- 8:16Speaker 1: for any reason? Answer nah. Question so when the shoe
- 8:20Speaker 1: is talking with control or Control is talking with R
- 8:23Speaker 1: and D, those calls aren't recorded. Answer No, there's just
- 8:26Speaker 1: a log to see how long the call was, the duration,
- 8:29Speaker 1: But that's pretty much it. What phone picked up and
- 8:32Speaker 1: what phone hung up? Question are those logs maintained? Answer? Yes?
- 8:37Speaker 1: Question for how long? Answer? I just had this a
- 8:41Speaker 1: little while ago, probably like a month. Question that's all
- 8:46Speaker 1: it is? Answer? That's all it is. Yeah. Question do
- 8:49Speaker 1: you recall if that was ever a copy of all
- 8:51Speaker 1: that log for the day? Answer? Yeah, I believe I
- 8:55Speaker 1: gave a copy to somebody, somebody with access, so I'm
- 8:58Speaker 1: pretty sure I gave them call logs with every thing.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Question so this is back then? Answer? Yeah, I gave
- 9:04Speaker 1: logs call logs. Question do you recall if it was
- 9:07Speaker 1: all of August ninth or tenth? Or was it just four?
- 9:11Speaker 1: He gets caught off by the engineer? It was probably
- 9:14Speaker 1: a few days. Question do you still maintain those since
- 9:18Speaker 1: you gave them? Answer? No, I just gave them no
- 9:21Speaker 1: reason for me to hold on to them. Question so
- 9:23Speaker 1: you physically gave it to them as opposed to via
- 9:26Speaker 1: email or anything? Answer? Nah, did I scan them? I
- 9:30Speaker 1: might have emailed them, I'm not too sure. Question can
- 9:34Speaker 1: you do us a favor when you're done? Can you
- 9:36Speaker 1: just check your out box around those dates? And see
- 9:39Speaker 1: if you have those logged. Answer okay, question you don't
- 9:44Speaker 1: recall who provided it to you? Right? Answer SIS? Whoever
- 9:47Speaker 1: is in charge of SIS. They were asking me for
- 9:50Speaker 1: the phone logs. Question all right, so SIS would give
- 9:54Speaker 1: them then answer yes. Question okay, answer if you want,
- 9:58Speaker 1: it's on that line. Question No, that's so. No, So
- 10:03Speaker 1: only inmate calls are recorded. No staff member calls. Answer No,
- 10:07Speaker 1: staff member calls are recorded. Question and that's throughout the
- 10:10Speaker 1: institution answer yes. Question okay, what about coming in and
- 10:16Speaker 1: out of the institution? Are those recorded? Answer? What what
- 10:21Speaker 1: do you mean? Question? So, if like R and D
- 10:23Speaker 1: is speaking with a cord or the marshals, would they
- 10:25Speaker 1: be recording? Answer no, that's not recorded. No question so
- 10:29Speaker 1: nothing coming in and out? Answer no. I just when
- 10:33Speaker 1: the inmates are talking on the phone, their phone calls
- 10:36Speaker 1: were recorded because they get that little warning to say,
- 10:38Speaker 1: you know you're being recorded. But that's about it. Question
- 10:43Speaker 1: And I thought when I called BOP facilities that it
- 10:46Speaker 1: did say that this line's being recorded. Is that not
- 10:49Speaker 1: the case? Answer? No question okay, answer yes, sometimes but
- 10:55Speaker 1: they throw it in there, but it's not the case.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Question okay, anything else on that I'm gonna move on.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Answer no, All right, folks, we're gonna wrap up right
- 11:05Speaker 1: here too. And in the next episode dealing with the topic,
- 11:07Speaker 1: we're gonna pick up where we left off. All the
- 11:10Speaker 1: information that goes with this episode can be found in
- 11:13Speaker 1: the description box. What's up, everyone, and welcome to another
- 11:16Speaker 1: episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're picking
- 11:20Speaker 1: up where we left off with the electrical engineer and
- 11:24Speaker 1: his interview with the OIG investigators. Question, so that was
- 11:28Speaker 1: August ninth you left that day? What time? Answer on
- 11:31Speaker 1: maybe the end of my shift two pm or maybe
- 11:34Speaker 1: like an hour later? Question two pm? Answer, yeah, two
- 11:37Speaker 1: pm or maybe three. Question When did you come back
- 11:41Speaker 1: on shift? Answer six am in the morning? Question on
- 11:45Speaker 1: August tenth? Answer yes. Question and what do you recall
- 11:49Speaker 1: happened on August tenth? Answer? As soon as I came
- 11:52Speaker 1: to the front door, I heard a body alarm on
- 11:54Speaker 1: ten South, and then I ran up to the body
- 11:57Speaker 1: alarm on ten South, I mean nine South. Question and
- 12:03Speaker 1: who hit the body alarm? Answer? I don't know. I
- 12:05Speaker 1: guess the officer, Whoever's on ten and nine South? Question
- 12:10Speaker 1: And when you got up there, what did you see? Answer?
- 12:12Speaker 1: I don't know I saw what did you see? We
- 12:15Speaker 1: were all just I don't know what did I see?
- 12:17Speaker 1: I got up there. Question let's start off then, who
- 12:21Speaker 1: was up there and when you got up there? Answer? Okay,
- 12:25Speaker 1: when I got up there, I got on the elevator
- 12:27Speaker 1: with Who did I get on the elevator with? I
- 12:29Speaker 1: think it was redacted from Food Services? Was there? Redacted?
- 12:32Speaker 1: Was there? And redacted? And I think lieutenant at the
- 12:35Speaker 1: time was Lieutenant redacted When I got upstairs. Those are
- 12:40Speaker 1: the officers that I remember. And then the officers that
- 12:43Speaker 1: were on the unit were Officers Thomas and Officer Noel,
- 12:48Speaker 1: and then I just remember us saying we needed to
- 12:50Speaker 1: get the stretcher from the hallway and an ad machine,
- 12:53Speaker 1: and then they took him and put them on the stretcher,
- 12:56Speaker 1: and I think after a little while the medical PA
- 12:59Speaker 1: came upstairs and then started working on them, and then
- 13:02Speaker 1: me and redacted we're still doing chess compressions. We took
- 13:06Speaker 1: them to the second floor until the ambulance came. Question. Okay,
- 13:11Speaker 1: I'm going to step back a little bit. So when
- 13:13Speaker 1: the body alarm went off, right, and you were in
- 13:16Speaker 1: the elevator with redacted and redacted, when you got up there.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Who was up there? Answer? I think Lieutenant Redacted. I
- 13:25Speaker 1: think was upstairs already. Maybe not. And then I know
- 13:28Speaker 1: miss Noel was there? Question Noel? Is that Noel? Answer?
- 13:34Speaker 1: I don't know how to say the name right question
- 13:38Speaker 1: Tauven Noel answer Tovin Noel, she was there? And Thomas
- 13:41Speaker 1: was there? Question? Okay? Is that Michael Thomas? Answer yeah,
- 13:46Speaker 1: Michael Thomas. Question so you were one of the very
- 13:48Speaker 1: first people on the scene. Answer yeah, question possibly the
- 13:52Speaker 1: first maybe Lieutenant Redacted? Answer yeah, they probably. I think
- 13:57Speaker 1: they might have got up there before we did. I'm
- 14:00Speaker 1: not too sure. Question when you say they, was there
- 14:04Speaker 1: someone other than that? Answer there was everybody in the
- 14:07Speaker 1: elevator and it was just like a malaise or he
- 14:11Speaker 1: gets cut off. But you said you were one of
- 14:13Speaker 1: the first. So when you arrived to the cell, what
- 14:16Speaker 1: did you see? Answer? I saw Thomas picking them up
- 14:20Speaker 1: and people were helping them put them on the stretcher.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Question okay, so when did you start doing the chest compressions?
- 14:27Speaker 1: Answer like right away? Question on the stretcher though, answer yeah,
- 14:31Speaker 1: question okay, but not on the floor. Answer no, I
- 14:35Speaker 1: don't believe on the floor. Well, that's a lie from
- 14:37Speaker 1: Michael Thomas. Then right, remember what he said and remember
- 14:41Speaker 1: what Tova said. They were lying. Question Sorry, I'll turn
- 14:46Speaker 1: it back over to you the other investigator. No, it's
- 14:50Speaker 1: the same question. So when you walk in, let's say
- 14:52Speaker 1: you walk into the shoe, was the gates open already? Answer?
- 14:56Speaker 1: The tear where he was on was open? And I
- 14:59Speaker 1: don't remember if the sally Port door was opened because
- 15:02Speaker 1: the inner door. I think somebody had to open that door. Question. Okay,
- 15:05Speaker 1: so you walk in and you head right up to
- 15:07Speaker 1: the tier. Answer yeah, because we know that was the tier.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Something was happening on. Question who was standing there? Answer?
- 15:16Speaker 1: I believe Thomas. Question Thomas was inside or was outside? Answer?
- 15:22Speaker 1: I think he was inside the tier. Question was anybody
- 15:24Speaker 1: outside the tier? Answer? I think Noel was outside the
- 15:28Speaker 1: tier because usually the way Shoe works is one officer
- 15:32Speaker 1: is in the tier and one officer is outside of
- 15:34Speaker 1: the tier. With a key question and out of the
- 15:37Speaker 1: few people that came up in the elevator, were you
- 15:40Speaker 1: the first one in the room or was there somebody else? Answer?
- 15:44Speaker 1: I think Lieutenant redacted was there. He was pretty much
- 15:47Speaker 1: directing everybody what to do. Question and you come in
- 15:53Speaker 1: you walk up the stairs from L tier. Answer M tier.
- 15:56Speaker 1: He was on EM tier. I think which is the top? No,
- 15:59Speaker 1: it's yes. Question and do you recall which cell it was?
- 16:04Speaker 1: Answer the first one. As soon as you go into
- 16:06Speaker 1: the tier. Question So you go up there, you look
- 16:11Speaker 1: in and what is it that you see? Answer? What
- 16:15Speaker 1: do I see? Epstein? Like? Uh? Not tangible, like not moving,
- 16:20Speaker 1: not doing anything. And then everybody's like gathered around him,
- 16:24Speaker 1: and when we tried to move them to the stretcher,
- 16:27Speaker 1: and then we started working on him on the stretcher.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Question was anyone performing CPR when you walked in? Answer? No,
- 16:35Speaker 1: I don't believe so, because I think they were trying
- 16:38Speaker 1: to cut him down before I got up there. I'm
- 16:40Speaker 1: not saying I know exactly what happened, but I'm pretty
- 16:43Speaker 1: sure that they were cutting him down because he did
- 16:45Speaker 1: have some stuff wrapped around him. So I think that's
- 16:47Speaker 1: what happened. Question, so describe it. What was he wearing? Answer? Uhuh?
- 16:53Speaker 1: Question I know it's kind of tough, but answer he
- 16:57Speaker 1: had his orange boxers and an orange T shirt. I
- 17:00Speaker 1: don't know if he had socks on or not. Question.
- 17:03Speaker 1: So he had orange boxers and he had an orange
- 17:05Speaker 1: t your shirt on answer yes. Question and what else
- 17:09Speaker 1: did he have on him? Answer? I think whatever he
- 17:12Speaker 1: wrapped around him. They were trying to cut that off
- 17:15Speaker 1: and move that out of the way. Question, so was
- 17:17Speaker 1: it around his neck? Answer? When I got there, I
- 17:20Speaker 1: didn't see. I can't tell you what was wrapped around him.
- 17:24Speaker 1: But when I did see him, I did see his
- 17:26Speaker 1: neck was a little bit bruise though. Question did he
- 17:29Speaker 1: have anything on his head, headphones, anything like that? Do
- 17:31Speaker 1: you recall? Answer? Not that I recall. No. Question And
- 17:36Speaker 1: then where was he laying when you walked in? Answer?
- 17:39Speaker 1: I think it was. By the time I got in there,
- 17:41Speaker 1: they were moving him and it was just get the
- 17:44Speaker 1: stretcher and the AED. Question okay, and CPR was done
- 17:49Speaker 1: and then he was taken out. Answer. We were working
- 17:52Speaker 1: on him, and then medical came up and kept working
- 17:54Speaker 1: on him, and then we took him downstairs. Question do
- 17:58Speaker 1: you recall how many mattresses were on the floor if
- 18:00Speaker 1: there were any? Answer? I don't recall. Question Okay, is
- 18:04Speaker 1: there anything about when you walked in that stood out
- 18:07Speaker 1: to you about that cell? Answer? No, nothing really distinctive,
- 18:11Speaker 1: just to shoe sell. Question and you mentioned you saw bruising.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Where did you see the bruising? Answer around his neck?
- 18:19Speaker 1: Question on all sides or just one side? Answer? I
- 18:22Speaker 1: think around all sides. Question Okay, And after they took
- 18:25Speaker 1: him to medical, did you follow them down? Answer? Yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 1: it was me and redacted. We were doing chest compressions
- 18:32Speaker 1: on him until the second floor, and then we were
- 18:35Speaker 1: in medical and redacted was making his phone calls and notifications.
- 18:39Speaker 1: And I don't know if redacted gave him a shot,
- 18:41Speaker 1: but we had to keep working on him. Question redacted
- 18:45Speaker 1: is in medical? Answer and the medical guy. And then
- 18:50Speaker 1: they tried to give him an AAD machine upstairs and
- 18:52Speaker 1: it didn't work. And I think the AAD machine was
- 18:54Speaker 1: still working on him when we took him downstairs. We
- 18:57Speaker 1: were still pumping his chest. Question and after the medical
- 19:01Speaker 1: office was he brought to the hospital? Answer? That part
- 19:05Speaker 1: I don't know about. After all that happened, I just
- 19:08Speaker 1: knew that everything was short staffed, and since I came
- 19:10Speaker 1: in to do my job, there was nobody in custody.
- 19:13Speaker 1: So after all that, I went up the special housing
- 19:15Speaker 1: unit and I worked there for about an hour. Question
- 19:19Speaker 1: so you went back to the shoe? Answer? Yeah, Question
- 19:22Speaker 1: what did you do? Answer? Settled inmate population down. They
- 19:26Speaker 1: get a little rowdy when they see stuff happen and
- 19:28Speaker 1: don't know what's going on, so you've got to just
- 19:31Speaker 1: kind of do custody work. Question who was in the
- 19:34Speaker 1: shoe when you were up there? Answer? It was me,
- 19:36Speaker 1: Lieutenant redacted. I believe she came up from somewhere. Lieutenant
- 19:40Speaker 1: redacted was there, and the officer Noel was there. Question
- 19:44Speaker 1: she was still there? Answer yes? Question what was she doing? Answer?
- 19:48Speaker 1: She just looked a little disheveled, like she didn't know
- 19:51Speaker 1: what was going on, just stressed because that was her
- 19:54Speaker 1: first suicide. So when you see something like that, you
- 19:56Speaker 1: kind of don't know how you would react. Question did
- 20:00Speaker 1: you talk to her about it? Answer? I don't believe so.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I just kind of let her do her thing, and
- 20:05Speaker 1: I just had to get to because they were feeding
- 20:07Speaker 1: in the morning time, So you have to, you know,
- 20:09Speaker 1: try to settle everything down. Question when you got up
- 20:13Speaker 1: there and initially, do you recall if Officer Michael Thomas
- 20:17Speaker 1: or Noel Tovin. Noel made any statements, any comments to
- 20:21Speaker 1: the lieutenant. Answer. I don't really recall. It was like
- 20:25Speaker 1: a mess. I don't really know what was said. Question
- 20:29Speaker 1: did you assist redacted in giving out food? Answer yes.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Question were you in the same tier with them when
- 20:36Speaker 1: she handed out the food? Answer yes. Question do you
- 20:39Speaker 1: recall any interaction between her and the inmates? Answer there
- 20:43Speaker 1: was a lot of things saying inmates said that were heard.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Not right. Question, So what kinds of stuff did the
- 20:49Speaker 1: inmates say? Answer? You killed them? What they said you
- 20:53Speaker 1: killed them? You weren't making rounds. You killed them. You
- 20:56Speaker 1: weren't making rounds. You guys got to get a new job.
- 20:59Speaker 1: You guys are done. A lot of fuck you this
- 21:02Speaker 1: your mother that you know? It was just gets caught
- 21:05Speaker 1: off by the investigator. Did a redactad say anything back
- 21:07Speaker 1: to them? Answer? I don't believe so. I don't know
- 21:10Speaker 1: what she said to the inmates. Like like I said,
- 21:13Speaker 1: it was just I don't know what was said back
- 21:15Speaker 1: and forth. Question do you recall if any comments were
- 21:19Speaker 1: made about providing an alibi for the CEOs. Answer no,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I don't believe so. Question anything else on that the
- 21:27Speaker 1: other investigator a lot. So we'll just go in reverse order.
- 21:31Speaker 1: So when you said you killed them, who killed them? Answer?
- 21:35Speaker 1: They like the officers killed Epstein. Question did they were
- 21:39Speaker 1: they referring to any specific officer. Answer the officers that
- 21:43Speaker 1: were up there Thomas and Nowell. Question, so they were
- 21:45Speaker 1: saying that they killed them? Answer, yeah, you guys killed them.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Question and did they say anything specifically about that? Answer? No,
- 21:54Speaker 1: they was just they were upset, so they were just
- 21:56Speaker 1: saying it. But they didn't say how. Question did anyone
- 21:59Speaker 1: say he gets cut off? They didn't say that they
- 22:02Speaker 1: went in the cells to try to kill him or
- 22:04Speaker 1: open the grill. They just said, you guys killed them.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Question and what was Did you ask any follow up
- 22:10Speaker 1: questions with regard to that answer? I just know not
- 22:14Speaker 1: to say anything, so I just do what I have
- 22:16Speaker 1: to do and I don't get involved in that question.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Did they provide any other information with regard to you
- 22:22Speaker 1: when they were saying someone killed them? Answer? Just that
- 22:25Speaker 1: they didn't do rounds. That was pretty much about it.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Question Did they say anything more about not doing rounds
- 22:32Speaker 1: or just said that they didn't do any rounds? Or
- 22:34Speaker 1: what did they say about that? Answer? They didn't do
- 22:37Speaker 1: any rounds. They were sitting there all night. I don't
- 22:39Speaker 1: think they came over here once. Question they said they
- 22:42Speaker 1: came over once. Answer, They never came They never did
- 22:46Speaker 1: any rounds. Question they said they never did one. Answer
- 22:50Speaker 1: no question. Oh so they never did one? Answer yeah.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Question is that what you mean? Answer yeah? Question okay,
- 22:58Speaker 1: did they mention when the stopped? Answer no question, No,
- 23:03Speaker 1: all right, you said that when you came back. It
- 23:05Speaker 1: was Tovin, Nowell and yourself, just the three of you.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Answer yes, I believe so. Question was Thomas already gone? Then?
- 23:12Speaker 1: Answer yes? All right, folks, We're gonna wrap this bad
- 23:15Speaker 1: boy up right here, and in the next episode we're
- 23:17Speaker 1: gonna pick up where we left off. All the information
- 23:21Speaker 1: that goes with this episode can be found in the
- 23:23Speaker 1: description box. What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode
- 23:27Speaker 1: of the Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're gonna pick
- 23:31Speaker 1: up where we left off, with the electrical engineer from
- 23:34Speaker 1: the MCC giving his statement to the OIG investigators. Question
- 23:40Speaker 1: all right, did you see anyone near the officer station
- 23:43Speaker 1: at that time? Answer no, I don't believe so. Question
- 23:47Speaker 1: do you know if anybody he gets cut off by
- 23:49Speaker 1: the engineer the round slips? I don't know if anybody
- 23:52Speaker 1: started to write stuff down or anything. Question what about
- 23:56Speaker 1: with regards to Epstein's file? Do you know if anyone
- 23:59Speaker 1: went into Epstein file at that time. Answer I don't
- 24:02Speaker 1: even know if he had he had a shoe file,
- 24:05Speaker 1: but I don't know who would have had access to that.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Question wouldn't the shoe file be right there in the
- 24:11Speaker 1: shoe Answer yeah, but it's usually the OIC would know
- 24:15Speaker 1: where that file is. Question Okay, did you see redacted
- 24:19Speaker 1: at all around the desk area? Answer no, I don't
- 24:24Speaker 1: know what they were doing as far as the file
- 24:26Speaker 1: or anything. Question were you with redacted the whole time
- 24:30Speaker 1: that she was there? Answer? I was feeding, so I
- 24:33Speaker 1: was kind of like by myself. Let me down the
- 24:36Speaker 1: tier and I'll feed. Question Okay, so you thought you
- 24:40Speaker 1: said that you were feeding with redacted at the same time.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Answer no, No, she would do something else. And I
- 24:47Speaker 1: take this tier and she was doing something else. Question
- 24:51Speaker 1: all right, so you would each be in your own
- 24:54Speaker 1: individual tier Answer feeding, Yeah, question and feeding answer because
- 25:00Speaker 1: there were only two people to feed. Question all right?
- 25:03Speaker 1: And was Noel also feeding? Answer no, I think she
- 25:08Speaker 1: was opening the grill. Question she was opening the grill
- 25:12Speaker 1: and she was standing on the outside. Answer yeah. Question
- 25:16Speaker 1: and how does that work? Are you allowed to be
- 25:18Speaker 1: going and feeding by yourself? And redacted also going? Down.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Answer to feed, Yes, because you're not opening You're just
- 25:29Speaker 1: opening the slot. You're not opening the door for the inmates.
- 25:32Speaker 1: So that's okay. Question okay, so that's all right now.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Did you notice anything else taking place in there aside
- 25:39Speaker 1: from feeding when you were in there? Answer no? Question
- 25:44Speaker 1: around what time were you in there? Answer probably a
- 25:47Speaker 1: little bit after six am? Question if the body alarm
- 25:51Speaker 1: gets activated at six thirty three, about what time did
- 25:54Speaker 1: you come back after you did the life saving measures? Answer?
- 26:00Speaker 1: I probably went downstairs put my stuff away, and then
- 26:03Speaker 1: I had to tdy staff with me. They stayed in
- 26:06Speaker 1: the basement. Question When you say the basement, what does
- 26:10Speaker 1: that mean? Answer in my office. They were in my
- 26:13Speaker 1: office because I didn't know anything would happen, and they
- 26:16Speaker 1: just didn't need to be a part of anything that
- 26:18Speaker 1: was transpired. So question, but they weren't in the shoe.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Answer No, they never went to the shoe. They never
- 26:25Speaker 1: responded to the body alarm. Question So do you think
- 26:30Speaker 1: you were back in the shoe by about seven am?
- 26:33Speaker 1: Answer before seven am? Question so prior to seven am
- 26:38Speaker 1: you stayed in there until almost eight am? Answer? I
- 26:41Speaker 1: don't know. I stayed in there for quite a while
- 26:44Speaker 1: I'm not too sure. Question while you were in there,
- 26:48Speaker 1: did SIS or anyone else come in and start preserving evidence?
- 26:52Speaker 1: Answer I don't believe anybody was here to start doing
- 26:54Speaker 1: any of that. Question Okay, so by the time you
- 26:57Speaker 1: left you left. When you left there, who was still there? Answer?
- 27:02Speaker 1: I don't even know who came up to relieve me, honestly.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Question no, but someone did relieve you. Answer yeah, somebody
- 27:09Speaker 1: did relieve me. Then I got asked about camera and
- 27:12Speaker 1: phone calls. He gets cut off by the investigator, right,
- 27:16Speaker 1: so it's just been a whirlwind. Answer yeah. Question and
- 27:20Speaker 1: when you saw Epstein, are you sure that he had
- 27:22Speaker 1: a shirt on? Answer? Pretty sure? Did he have a
- 27:25Speaker 1: shirt on? I'm not for sure, Honestly, I don't really
- 27:28Speaker 1: remember that. Question Can you remember yourself actually doing those
- 27:31Speaker 1: chess compressions? Answer I was doing chess compressions. Question do
- 27:37Speaker 1: you remember he gets cut off by the engineer? We
- 27:41Speaker 1: had to take a shirt off? Okay, yeah, we had
- 27:43Speaker 1: to take a shirt off. Question so you actually took
- 27:46Speaker 1: it off? Answer yeah. Question do you remember taking it off?
- 27:51Speaker 1: Answer yeah, because that's how you got to put on
- 27:54Speaker 1: the AED, so the shirt came off. Question do you
- 27:57Speaker 1: remember it actually taking it off, or that it was
- 28:00Speaker 1: off already. Answer. Maybe it was off already. Question, but
- 28:04Speaker 1: you can't recall answer no, question. And when you said
- 28:08Speaker 1: when you arrived, you're not there was no one doing
- 28:11Speaker 1: chess compressions at the time that you arrived. Answer. They were.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I think they were trying to cut him down, and
- 28:16Speaker 1: we and I think I went to get the stretcher
- 28:20Speaker 1: and the ad by this time, and I came back
- 28:22Speaker 1: whatever they were doing to try to move them. By
- 28:24Speaker 1: the time we got the stretcher, that's when we started
- 28:27Speaker 1: working on him. Because you obviously can't work on him
- 28:30Speaker 1: because he's hanging up. He gets cut off by the investigator.
- 28:33Speaker 1: So you believe he was actually hanging by the time
- 28:36Speaker 1: when you got there, Answer, they were moving him down.
- 28:40Speaker 1: He was in an up position and they were lowering
- 28:42Speaker 1: him down to whatever position. Question all right, so he
- 28:46Speaker 1: may not have been actually hanging, but he was like
- 28:48Speaker 1: sitting up. Answer, I'm not too sure. Question you don't know. Answer, yeah, question, okay, answer,
- 28:57Speaker 1: somebody was holding him, so I don't know if he
- 28:59Speaker 1: was if if they were like trying to he gets
- 29:02Speaker 1: cut off by the investigator. So just walk me through that.
- 29:05Speaker 1: What exactly did you see when you say someone was
- 29:08Speaker 1: holding them, what do you mean by holding them? Answer? Okay,
- 29:11Speaker 1: so you get in the shoe. There's a lot of
- 29:13Speaker 1: space in the shoe, so if an inmate is hanging,
- 29:17Speaker 1: usually you try to hold them and make sure you
- 29:19Speaker 1: know you can cut them down. And with all that
- 29:22Speaker 1: going on, I think I went to get the AED
- 29:25Speaker 1: because there was enough staff there. I didn't need to
- 29:27Speaker 1: go in the cell. There's no space, so I just
- 29:31Speaker 1: got the AED or the stretcher and I bring it back.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Question but you believe there Are you confident that there
- 29:39Speaker 1: were actually he was like in the upright position when
- 29:42Speaker 1: you first saw him. Answer? Yeah, I'm pretty sure he
- 29:45Speaker 1: wasn't laying down. It was indiscernible. Question so he was
- 29:49Speaker 1: not laying down yet and they weren't already working on them. Answer,
- 29:54Speaker 1: I don't really know. I remember him being moved. I
- 29:58Speaker 1: don't remember if he was laying down when I first
- 30:01Speaker 1: got there. I don't really that. I can't say for sure.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I know he was being moved when I initially got there,
- 30:08Speaker 1: and when I went down, I can't say he was
- 30:09Speaker 1: laying down because I didn't He gets cut off by
- 30:12Speaker 1: the investigator all right, but you do know he was
- 30:16Speaker 1: being moved? Answer yes, question you just don't and you
- 30:20Speaker 1: believe he was in an upright, like seated type position.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Answer or whatever position he was they were trying to
- 30:27Speaker 1: move him out of that position. Question okay, answer to
- 30:32Speaker 1: administer the first date or whatever. Question So when's the
- 30:35Speaker 1: first time that you know he was actually receiving chess compressions?
- 30:41Speaker 1: Answer as soon as we put him on the stretcher.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Question did anyone check for a pulse? Answer the duty
- 30:47Speaker 1: pa redacted and then he put the AED on. The
- 30:52Speaker 1: AED tells you if there's a pulse or anything, and
- 30:55Speaker 1: stay clear so they could do the shock. Question all right,
- 30:58Speaker 1: so prior that's the first you know, chest compressions that
- 31:01Speaker 1: were done on them. Answer yeah, question okay. Now the
- 31:05Speaker 1: other investigator jumps in and says that he has a
- 31:09Speaker 1: follow up question. When you walked in and when they
- 31:13Speaker 1: started doing the chest where was his body? Being? Like,
- 31:16Speaker 1: you walk in, his bunk is there and we know
- 31:18Speaker 1: there's a corner right which way is his head facing?
- 31:21Speaker 1: And where were his legs? Answer? He was kind of
- 31:25Speaker 1: like somebody was just holding him, So I can't really
- 31:28Speaker 1: tell if he was going this way or that, but
- 31:30Speaker 1: somebody was behind him physically holding him like he was
- 31:33Speaker 1: trying to move him. Question were they trying to get
- 31:36Speaker 1: him out of the corner and bring him out? Answer? Yeah,
- 31:39Speaker 1: I believe that's what was going on, But there was
- 31:42Speaker 1: no way to put him there because you can't put
- 31:44Speaker 1: them on the ground to do anything. So that's when
- 31:47Speaker 1: we free to get the stretcher and aed question why
- 31:52Speaker 1: couldn't they put him on the ground? Answer? I usually
- 31:55Speaker 1: put them down on the ground, but usually it's just
- 31:58Speaker 1: second nature. You always get a stretcher because you don't
- 32:01Speaker 1: want none of the inmates seeing you work on an inmate.
- 32:03Speaker 1: It never looks good. So you kind of you know,
- 32:07Speaker 1: just everything is just so fast, like it just moves,
- 32:10Speaker 1: just like it's not like you wait or hesitate, but
- 32:13Speaker 1: you just like kind of know what to do. There's
- 32:16Speaker 1: no hesitation, but you just know what's going to happen.
- 32:19Speaker 1: And you never really want to work in front of
- 32:20Speaker 1: the inmates or the inmates behind the door, like that's
- 32:23Speaker 1: not a good idea. So you to try to move
- 32:26Speaker 1: them as much as you can so you can really
- 32:29Speaker 1: start working on them. Questions, so you don't think anyone
- 32:32Speaker 1: did see pr on him until he was moved over. Answer, No,
- 32:37Speaker 1: we did SEEPR on him. I'm pretty sure somebody did,
- 32:40Speaker 1: but it was just a process of everything was so
- 32:43Speaker 1: everything just happened like this where it just didn't seem
- 32:46Speaker 1: like it seemed like it took minutes, but it probably
- 32:49Speaker 1: just took a few seconds the way everything was going. Question, So,
- 32:53Speaker 1: I guess, is there any reason for you to believe
- 32:55Speaker 1: that Epstein didn't take his own life? Answer? No. Question
- 32:59Speaker 1: Do you believe that Epstein took his own life? Answer yes,
- 33:02Speaker 1: I believe so. Question were the inmates saying anything about
- 33:06Speaker 1: anyone going into Epstein's cell? Answer? No. Question. So all
- 33:11Speaker 1: they said was that they didn't check that they didn't
- 33:13Speaker 1: do their rounds. Answer the rounds, they didn't do anything
- 33:16Speaker 1: all night. Question so do you believe that's what they
- 33:20Speaker 1: meant by you killed them? Answer? Yeah, they didn't do
- 33:23Speaker 1: their job. Question So they didn't do their job he
- 33:26Speaker 1: gets cut off by the engineer and with them, Yeah,
- 33:30Speaker 1: they didn't. By them not doing their rounds, they can't
- 33:33Speaker 1: check to see if he was breathing or what's going on.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Question and that's how they killed them? Answer? Yeah, that's
- 33:41Speaker 1: how they killed them. Question all right, as far as
- 33:44Speaker 1: when you were back in there after you came back
- 33:46Speaker 1: up to the shoe. After you leave the medical unit,
- 33:49Speaker 1: you said you got there at seven am. The entire
- 33:52Speaker 1: time you were in there for approximately one hour, was
- 33:55Speaker 1: redacted in there with you? Answer? I don't recall. She
- 33:58Speaker 1: might have come down and checked on things. The lieutenant
- 34:01Speaker 1: came down and checked to see what was going on,
- 34:03Speaker 1: and that was about it, And then we have to
- 34:06Speaker 1: write our statements about what it transpired. Question, Oh, did
- 34:10Speaker 1: you want redacted? Both write statements? Answer? No, I wrote
- 34:13Speaker 1: my own statement. Question you wrote your own statement, but
- 34:17Speaker 1: you did write a statement? Answer yes, Question did redact
- 34:20Speaker 1: it also write a statement though? Answer? I believe so.
- 34:23Speaker 1: I'm not too sure. She's a lieutenant, she should know
- 34:26Speaker 1: to write a statement. But he gets cut off by
- 34:29Speaker 1: the investigator. Question and where do you write statements from?
- 34:33Speaker 1: Answer my computer? I just go to my desk and
- 34:37Speaker 1: he gets cut off again. Okay, And would have redacted
- 34:40Speaker 1: also written one though? Like did she was she one
- 34:44Speaker 1: of the responding officers or did she just come and
- 34:46Speaker 1: help feed? Answer? I don't know. If she came up
- 34:50Speaker 1: with the body alarm it was I don't think she
- 34:53Speaker 1: was there initially when everything happened, So I don't think. Yeah. Question,
- 34:58Speaker 1: she wouldn't have written a statement then correct answer no. Question,
- 35:03Speaker 1: So do you recall at that time that you left
- 35:05Speaker 1: the shoe do you know if she was still in there? Answer?
- 35:09Speaker 1: I don't know. Question you're not sure? Answer I don't know. Yeah.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Question and again, did you see anyone that was in
- 35:16Speaker 1: there around that officer station? Answer? I was just there
- 35:22Speaker 1: working on tier, making sure I do rounds and try
- 35:24Speaker 1: to talk to the inmates to settle them down as
- 35:27Speaker 1: much as I could. Question Okay, but you didn't notice
- 35:31Speaker 1: any files being manipulated? Answer no, nobody was going to
- 35:35Speaker 1: the desk or doing anything like that. Like, I didn't
- 35:37Speaker 1: see anybody trying to go and grab stuff or move
- 35:39Speaker 1: stuff around, like I didn't see any of that. Question okay, okay,
- 35:44Speaker 1: And you didn't see anybody actually take papers or answer yeah,
- 35:48Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure if somebody did, it would have probably
- 35:51Speaker 1: been on camera too, because that camera was working. Question. Well,
- 35:56Speaker 1: that camera that you're talking about that was working, you
- 35:59Speaker 1: can't make anything out on it. Answer yeah, yeah, you
- 36:04Speaker 1: can't really make anything out. Question So even if someone's
- 36:07Speaker 1: near there, you can't really see what they're doing. Answer,
- 36:10Speaker 1: really see what they're doing. Yeah, but I don't think
- 36:12Speaker 1: anybody was going there to do anything because I don't
- 36:15Speaker 1: even think anybody knew like what the hell was going on,
- 36:19Speaker 1: to be honest with you, it was just like, what
- 36:21Speaker 1: the hell just happened? All right, folks, We're gonna wrap
- 36:25Speaker 1: up right here and in the next episode dealing with
- 36:27Speaker 1: the topic, we're gonna pick up where we left off.
- 36:30Speaker 1: All the information that goes with this episode can be
- 36:32Speaker 1: found in the description box. What's up, everyone, and welcome
- 36:36Speaker 1: to another episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In this episode,
- 36:40Speaker 1: we're gonna pick up where we left off with the
- 36:42Speaker 1: interview given by the electrical engineer to the OIG investigators. Question. Okay,
- 36:50Speaker 1: and as far as that that is the one and
- 36:52Speaker 1: only camera, that one that was up by ten South
- 36:56Speaker 1: that was working. Answer, Yes, that was working question all right?
- 37:00Speaker 1: Then nothing else, nothing else that was ever working answer.
- 37:04Speaker 1: There were other ones in the sally Port, but nothing
- 37:07Speaker 1: as far as the shoe, that was the only one
- 37:09Speaker 1: in the shoe question all right. So as far as
- 37:13Speaker 1: that camera though, that was showing people who was going
- 37:16Speaker 1: in and out of the shoe, was that working? Answer?
- 37:19Speaker 1: On the nine Sally, I'm not too sure. Question okay,
- 37:23Speaker 1: answer that I'm not too sure about. Question you just
- 37:26Speaker 1: said it was working. Answer I'm not I'm not too
- 37:29Speaker 1: sure if it was working or recording. The Sally camera
- 37:32Speaker 1: was recording. Question Yeah, that's what I was saying. The
- 37:36Speaker 1: difference between working and recording to him is if it's
- 37:39Speaker 1: actually a live feed. Answer yeah, I can't tell you that.
- 37:45Speaker 1: It gets confusing. Question but all right, and again you
- 37:49Speaker 1: believe that, sorry start over, you believe that Epstein took
- 37:52Speaker 1: his own life. Answer yes, based on the agent's question,
- 37:56Speaker 1: you said you were doing feeding. Did you do feeding
- 37:59Speaker 1: on Eltier after the tear that Epstein was found in? Answer?
- 38:03Speaker 1: I probably did, yeah, because I don't really I probably did.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Question How long were you up there for? Answer? I
- 38:10Speaker 1: don't know. Question do you recall if his cell was
- 38:13Speaker 1: secured or if it was left open? Answer? Initially it
- 38:17Speaker 1: was probably left open. Question for how long? Answer? I
- 38:22Speaker 1: don't know. I'm not too sure. But then I think
- 38:25Speaker 1: when I came back to feed, because we lock all
- 38:28Speaker 1: the cells, it's probably locked when I started doing the feeding.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Question but there were CEOs going in and out of there.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Answer no, there is no reason to go inside of
- 38:38Speaker 1: a cell, and everybody knows, like after a suicide, it's
- 38:41Speaker 1: a crime scene, so usually you just stay away from
- 38:44Speaker 1: the cell. Question do you recall approximately when you came
- 38:49Speaker 1: and they secured it as a crime scene? Answer I'm
- 38:52Speaker 1: not too sure when that happened. Question, but it wasn't
- 38:55Speaker 1: secured when you left. Answer When when I went down
- 38:59Speaker 1: there for the body alarm, it wasn't secure. I mean
- 39:03Speaker 1: when I took him down to medical doing chess compressions,
- 39:06Speaker 1: it wasn't secured. But when I came back upstairs it
- 39:09Speaker 1: was secured. The door was locked, I believe. Question and
- 39:13Speaker 1: I know that I was honing in on or addacted.
- 39:15Speaker 1: But what about Noel? Did you see Noel near the
- 39:18Speaker 1: officer's station at all? Answer? I believe she received a
- 39:22Speaker 1: phone call or somebody wanted to see what was going on,
- 39:26Speaker 1: ask them like what happened? Or he gets cut off
- 39:29Speaker 1: by the investigator. Did you see her manipulating any files
- 39:34Speaker 1: or dealing with any paperwork? Answer? I don't believe so.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Question no, all right, And then going back to our
- 39:42Speaker 1: initial conversation, you said that you put in a work
- 39:44Speaker 1: order for Signet. Was that on the ninth answer? Probably before? Yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 1: question No, that would have been August ninth, the day
- 39:54Speaker 1: before Epstein was found. Answer yeah, I was just troubleshooting
- 39:57Speaker 1: with them. I was on the phone with them. It's
- 40:00Speaker 1: not really a work order, just you know, call them up, Hey,
- 40:03Speaker 1: this is what's going on. What should we do? Question okay,
- 40:06Speaker 1: So there would be no paperwork showing answer from signet.
- 40:11Speaker 1: They would have the paperwork. Question so they would show
- 40:16Speaker 1: that you called. Answer yes, and that you said that
- 40:18Speaker 1: these things were down. Answer yes, and I was having problems.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Question and you have any of those files? Answer no,
- 40:26Speaker 1: They have their own files that they keep. Question just
- 40:30Speaker 1: they would be able to like he gets cut off. Yeah,
- 40:33Speaker 1: and I was on since that happened. I was pretty
- 40:35Speaker 1: much on the phone with them for like a week
- 40:37Speaker 1: after that, so they would have the records of what
- 40:39Speaker 1: I called or whatever happened. Question all right, And then
- 40:43Speaker 1: as far as you know, we're going way to the beginning.
- 40:47Speaker 1: You said that you were did you you were interviewed
- 40:50Speaker 1: by the FBI? You said on the tenth you were
- 40:53Speaker 1: also interviewed by them after the tenth of August. Answer
- 40:58Speaker 1: because I was a subject matter expert as far as
- 41:00Speaker 1: the cameras go. So they want to know, like, how
- 41:04Speaker 1: can you find video? If you could find video, what
- 41:07Speaker 1: can I do? And then they came in the next
- 41:10Speaker 1: day and they tried to as soon as I found
- 41:12Speaker 1: the video. That's the real video they wanted because they
- 41:15Speaker 1: wanted to make sure they had something in it, because
- 41:18Speaker 1: they were pretty mad that there was no video at all.
- 41:21Speaker 1: And I found that video because I wasn't sure that
- 41:24Speaker 1: was on the recorders or what wasn't on the recorders
- 41:27Speaker 1: at that point. Question and that's the ten South video.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Answer yes, question And do you know if that video
- 41:35Speaker 1: ever was enhanced to be able to see it more clearly? Answer?
- 41:39Speaker 1: I have no idea if they did or did not. Question,
- 41:42Speaker 1: But you did not answer No, I did not do that. Question.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Do you even have that ability to do that? Answer?
- 41:49Speaker 1: Not without software? We have no not going to happen.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Question You mentioned that maybe I'm mistaken. You mentioned that
- 41:55Speaker 1: there was a work order created prior to the ninth
- 41:58Speaker 1: for the camera. Answer. Yeah, there were a few work
- 42:01Speaker 1: orders that the recorders were going down or failing, we
- 42:05Speaker 1: have problems. Question when were those created? Answer? Maybe a
- 42:10Speaker 1: year before or six months before. It was just a
- 42:13Speaker 1: constant thing. As far as the camera is not working
- 42:17Speaker 1: because we was trying to get upgraded, We were trying
- 42:20Speaker 1: to get money spent, So we have to create anytime
- 42:22Speaker 1: there's a problem, I have to create a work order
- 42:25Speaker 1: to tell like the regional office, like there's a problem,
- 42:29Speaker 1: but it's a work order over ten thousand, so they
- 42:31Speaker 1: have to put money aside to do the work. Like
- 42:34Speaker 1: it's not a quick fix to fix the recorders question,
- 42:37Speaker 1: And these recorders were maintained in house or only by signette?
- 42:42Speaker 1: Answer the work order we have or maintained here in house.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Question who would have access to that? Answer the facility manager.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Anybody in facilities pretty much would have access to it.
- 42:52Speaker 1: But really facility manager question on August ninth, when you
- 42:56Speaker 1: saw that the system was down, has it gone down
- 43:00Speaker 1: like that before? Answer? Yeah? Question how long did it
- 43:03Speaker 1: take you to fix it? Answer sometimes maybe a day,
- 43:06Speaker 1: maybe two days, maybe a couple of days. And the
- 43:09Speaker 1: thing and I have to stress this also is just
- 43:12Speaker 1: because I saw it down. Because I don't check it
- 43:14Speaker 1: every day. I don't know if it was down for
- 43:16Speaker 1: a week, a month. You know, it's not one of
- 43:18Speaker 1: those things that you check all the time. But I
- 43:21Speaker 1: would since we're having problems more readily, I would always
- 43:24Speaker 1: check like once a week to make sure that it
- 43:26Speaker 1: was working. But before it was not like, Okay, I've
- 43:30Speaker 1: got to get up there and check it out because
- 43:32Speaker 1: it was happening. Question That was my next question. Did
- 43:36Speaker 1: you just happen to walk in there one day? Answer?
- 43:39Speaker 1: I already knew we were having issues, and I think
- 43:41Speaker 1: I got the hard drives out because I was going
- 43:44Speaker 1: to take them up there and see what was going on.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Question Now, based on the fact that this happened before, right,
- 43:51Speaker 1: was that same exact situation the same exact drives. Answer?
- 43:56Speaker 1: I think it switched. It could have been recorder one
- 43:58Speaker 1: and then recorder two. I don't think it was just
- 44:02Speaker 1: the same recorder all the time, because one recorder was
- 44:05Speaker 1: actually the whole motherboard have to get replaced, and that
- 44:08Speaker 1: was again I think that was a recorder too, And
- 44:11Speaker 1: before drives would go out on one or two, so
- 44:13Speaker 1: it was just random. They were old, they just needed
- 44:16Speaker 1: to get replaced. Question And at that point you knew
- 44:19Speaker 1: that the drives were not recording? Answer? Yeah, Question were
- 44:23Speaker 1: any actions taken to make sure that this does not
- 44:26Speaker 1: happen in the future, that at least something would be recorded? Answer? Yes,
- 44:31Speaker 1: exactly that question what actions were taken? Answer? Now, we
- 44:37Speaker 1: have redundant drives, so if one drive fails, you always
- 44:40Speaker 1: have a backup. No, No, I'm talking about prior to
- 44:43Speaker 1: the ninth. Oh, prior to the ninth. No, there was
- 44:47Speaker 1: really nothing. They just knew we had problems. We had
- 44:50Speaker 1: ordered the new system. We were online to get it installed,
- 44:53Speaker 1: but we were just not lucky to get it installed.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Question and the record would show that there was an order.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Answer yeah, and that we have the shipping stuff for
- 45:03Speaker 1: the system. Actually it was here, it was in the building.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Question you just didn't get it installed yet? Answer? Didn't
- 45:10Speaker 1: get it installed? It got installed a couple on what
- 45:13Speaker 1: happened on the ninth, tenth or eleventh, that's when the
- 45:15Speaker 1: new system got installed. Question Yeah, the other thing. We've
- 45:19Speaker 1: already asked you this, but I just want to make sure.
- 45:22Speaker 1: So the title of your supervisor did you say facilities manager? Answer? Yeah?
- 45:27Speaker 1: Question and how would we again figure out who that
- 45:30Speaker 1: was at the time? Answer? I don't know. You would
- 45:34Speaker 1: just have to ask. I'm not too sure who the
- 45:35Speaker 1: facility managers was. Question but you don't even know how
- 45:39Speaker 1: indiscernible Answer I think it was redacted, but I'm not
- 45:43Speaker 1: too sure, because he was maybe acting at the time,
- 45:46Speaker 1: but I don't think that he had the position yet.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Question Is he a facilities manager now? Answer? Now, yes
- 45:52Speaker 1: he is. Question and again, you know who notified whoever
- 45:56Speaker 1: was the facilities manager at the time? Answer or my
- 46:00Speaker 1: general foreman. Usually it's one of the two. I usually
- 46:03Speaker 1: notified them both. Question So the general manager or general foreman?
- 46:10Speaker 1: Answer and general foreman. Yeah, I have to notify somebody.
- 46:14Speaker 1: I can't just walk out of the building and not
- 46:15Speaker 1: say anything. Question and you said you're positive you definitely
- 46:20Speaker 1: made those notifications. Answer, Yeah, I had to because I
- 46:24Speaker 1: was coming back the next day to work. Question you
- 46:28Speaker 1: said it was a general foreman. Answer yes, question and
- 46:32Speaker 1: you know he gets cut off by the engineer. But
- 46:35Speaker 1: I don't even think we had a general foreman. I'm
- 46:38Speaker 1: not too sure. It was two years ago. I'm not
- 46:40Speaker 1: even sure if we had a general foreman. Question and
- 46:44Speaker 1: being though that this was such a big deal and
- 46:47Speaker 1: that these cameras were such a big part of it,
- 46:49Speaker 1: did you ever learn if either of those people ever
- 46:51Speaker 1: passed the information up? Answer? No question. So no, that
- 46:56Speaker 1: was never spoken of. Answer, no question, And you guys
- 47:00Speaker 1: didn't you never had the conversation with those supervisors after
- 47:03Speaker 1: the fact. Answer, did we have a conversation after I
- 47:07Speaker 1: never really asked if if it got I'm pretty sure
- 47:11Speaker 1: everybody knew it wasn't working because I came back the
- 47:14Speaker 1: next day. Question, So did they ever? Did anyone ever
- 47:18Speaker 1: say anything to you about like, Hey, why didn't you
- 47:21Speaker 1: tell me? Answer? No, I don't get that. No question,
- 47:25Speaker 1: no answer. No, I'm not going to get that question
- 47:29Speaker 1: all right, answer because I would have told somebody I'm
- 47:32Speaker 1: not going to leave. Because I came from another jail.
- 47:35Speaker 1: I can't just leave it not say anything. Question So
- 47:39Speaker 1: like SIS or the captain never came up to you
- 47:41Speaker 1: and said, hey, what happened? Why didn't you let anybody know? Answer?
- 47:46Speaker 1: No question? So okay, answer because it was a known
- 47:50Speaker 1: problem that the recorders were going down, so i'd have
- 47:54Speaker 1: to say, hey, this is what's going on. Question gotcha,
- 47:59Speaker 1: and sir, I'm trying to fix it. I'll be back tomorrow.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Question Okay. I think that's all I've got. The other investigator,
- 48:07Speaker 1: that's all I have. Is there anything else you think
- 48:10Speaker 1: that we should have asked you that we didn't ask answer?
- 48:13Speaker 1: It's an investigation. I just hope this never happens again.
- 48:17Speaker 1: I mean I was comfortable because I came from another institution.
- 48:21Speaker 1: I knew what I was doing as far as the
- 48:22Speaker 1: cameras and recorders, and I know that all the stuff works.
- 48:26Speaker 1: But I just with the Bureau would be more proactive
- 48:29Speaker 1: as far as maintenance and buying new stuff. Like I
- 48:32Speaker 1: know now that they are like more on top of everything,
- 48:35Speaker 1: but it's not really it's not good. Question all right,
- 48:38Speaker 1: answer that's just my only thing. Question so still today? Answer? Yeah,
- 48:43Speaker 1: they still got to do a lot of improvements. Question Okay,
- 48:47Speaker 1: so you don't believe it's actually been rectified. There still
- 48:50Speaker 1: needs a lot of work. Answer, Oh yeah, I've been
- 48:54Speaker 1: to other institutions. There's a lot of camera work that
- 48:56Speaker 1: needs to get done. Question so just to keep up
- 48:59Speaker 1: today with other institutions. Answer no, this institution's fine. I've
- 49:04Speaker 1: done a lot of overtime here. Question Oh oh sure,
- 49:07Speaker 1: I thought that's what you were saying. I thought you
- 49:09Speaker 1: meant mcc is not up to speed. Answer No, we're
- 49:13Speaker 1: up to speed. We're ahead of the curve. We got
- 49:15Speaker 1: IP cameras pretty much everywhere. But I'm just saying overall,
- 49:18Speaker 1: I just wish the Bureau was more proactive, and like
- 49:22Speaker 1: when I came to this institution, for instance, like there
- 49:25Speaker 1: was only one camera in a housing unit. When I
- 49:28Speaker 1: came in Brooklyn, I was custody, it was cameras all
- 49:31Speaker 1: over the place. I went to Indiana and I was
- 49:34Speaker 1: a contact at a complex which was a high, medium, low.
- 49:38Speaker 1: There's a camp, there's a death row, there's cameras everywhere.
- 49:42Speaker 1: I come to this jail in New York City and
- 49:44Speaker 1: I'm expecting cameras everywhere. And one of the first things
- 49:48Speaker 1: was like, Oh, we don't have the money for that.
- 49:50Speaker 1: We don't have the money for this, We don't have
- 49:51Speaker 1: the money for that. And I just kept saying, Hey,
- 49:54Speaker 1: you guys got to do something. This is the problem.
- 49:58Speaker 1: God forbid. This is what happened. But I just wish
- 50:01Speaker 1: there was more proactivity. Like he gets cut off, but
- 50:05Speaker 1: right now mcc is up to speed. Answer we're good. Yeah,
- 50:09Speaker 1: we're good. We don't have any issues. Question So when
- 50:11Speaker 1: you made that statement, you're talking about other facilities. Answer yeah,
- 50:16Speaker 1: other facilities. In general, I wish the Bureau would invest
- 50:19Speaker 1: more money question Okay. Answer and training too, Like just
- 50:24Speaker 1: getting new equipment, that's not it also train the staff
- 50:28Speaker 1: because even like when I learned how to do the
- 50:30Speaker 1: camera stuff. Who was just me over the phone with signet.
- 50:33Speaker 1: I never really went to physical training, Harad acted. This
- 50:36Speaker 1: is the system that you have. Take this drive out,
- 50:39Speaker 1: do X, Y and Z. I'm just like I'm on
- 50:41Speaker 1: the phone. I'm looking at it. Okay, the light is
- 50:44Speaker 1: this color? This is I'm a smart guy. I could
- 50:47Speaker 1: figure it out. But at the same time, somebody that's
- 50:50Speaker 1: not really savvy, Yeah, they're going to be lost question.
- 50:54Speaker 1: All right, thank you so much for taking your time.
- 50:57Speaker 1: I know you just had to leave training, so I
- 50:59Speaker 1: really appreciate that. Thank you, mister redacted again. So if
- 51:05Speaker 1: there's nothing else, this is special Agent redacted. The time
- 51:08Speaker 1: is three forty four pm on Thursday July fifteenth, twenty
- 51:11Speaker 1: twenty one. I'm turning off the recorder, ending the interview,
- 51:15Speaker 1: and turning off the recorder. All right, So there is
- 51:18Speaker 1: the deposition given by the electrical engineer to go along
- 51:22Speaker 1: with the other depositions that we've heard. And folks, we're
- 51:25Speaker 1: just getting started. We have a lot of files to
- 51:27Speaker 1: get through and a lot of ground to cover, and
- 51:30Speaker 1: to do that, we're going to keep eating this elephant,
- 51:32Speaker 1: one bite at a time. All The information that goes
- 51:36Speaker 1: with this episode can be found in the description box.
