- 5:14Speaker 2: gonna start with Miss Michelin. If you would, if you
- 5:18Speaker 2: would share with the audience a little bit about yourself
- 5:22Speaker 2: and what you got in store for twenty twenty five.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Ms Michelin.
- 5:37Speaker 5: Sorry, good evening everyone. My name is Micheline Moss and
- 5:42Speaker 5: I bring you greetings from Memphis, Tennessee. I was raised
- 5:49Speaker 5: in New Jersey. I am a wife, a mom, a grandma,
- 5:55Speaker 5: a grandmother, and I'm also a poet. My journey started
- 6:01Speaker 5: at a very age that started with my grandfather actually
- 6:07Speaker 5: reciting psalms and proverbs to us. And you know, at
- 6:12Speaker 5: the time, I didn't know what was going on, but
- 6:15Speaker 5: I think that's what kind of like piqued my interests. Also,
- 6:21Speaker 5: I had an older brother who passed away that was
- 6:25Speaker 5: like really into the arts. So he used to take
- 6:29Speaker 5: me to Haarlem and spoke about the Harlem Renaissance, and
- 6:35Speaker 5: so that was another thing that made me, you know,
- 6:39Speaker 5: to start to enjoy poetry and I wanted to write it.
- 6:45Speaker 5: I was also in this little beauty pageant when I
- 6:49Speaker 5: was probably an elementary school and my brother gave me
- 6:54Speaker 5: a poem to recite for my talent and I didn't win,
- 7:00Speaker 5: but I did enjoy the crowd enjoy the poetry. So
- 7:04Speaker 5: what I have going on for this year is going
- 7:09Speaker 5: to still be writing. I am an advocate for domestic violence.
- 7:17Speaker 5: I'm an advocate for excuse me, I'm an advocate for
- 7:25Speaker 5: domestic violence. I'm also an advocate for the blind. My
- 7:29Speaker 5: son lost his sight a couple of years ago, so
- 7:32Speaker 5: we're still trying to navigate that. I'm also going to
- 7:37Speaker 5: be a part of an organization empowers women in sports.
- 7:43Speaker 5: My youngest granddaughter, she plays basketball and she started at
- 7:49Speaker 5: a very young age, and due to the fact that
- 7:51Speaker 5: her father is blind, you know, I wanted to be
- 7:55Speaker 5: a part that helped him out and basically just trying
- 8:01Speaker 5: to you know, get my brand out there. I'm still
- 8:06Speaker 5: working out the kinks, but it's just basically about you know,
- 8:11Speaker 5: being who you are, not being afraid to be you,
- 8:15Speaker 5: to speak up to do what God has planned for you,
- 8:21Speaker 5: your purpose, and not being afraid to just step out
- 8:24Speaker 5: our faith.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Amazing, amazing, and thank you for coming on and sharing tonight, Shanette.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And I tell you I know that everything is ordained
- 8:41Speaker 2: and everything is always according to God's plan. Shanette actually
- 8:46Speaker 2: works for a nonprofit that works with the blind, so
- 8:51Speaker 2: look at God. She's out in California, but she works
- 8:57Speaker 2: for a nonprofit. So maybe you guys can exchange information
- 9:04Speaker 2: and maybe she can help you get some information. But
- 9:12Speaker 2: if you would, you know I can't do you no justice,
- 9:15Speaker 2: So I'm gonna move on not the way and allow
- 9:17Speaker 2: you to introduce yourself.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Okay, Well, hello everyone, and get bringing greetings all the
- 9:30Speaker 3: way from California. We still got light out here and
- 9:33Speaker 3: it's a beautiful day out here. My name is Janette Johnson.
- 9:37Speaker 3: I am a mother of for a grandmother for a wife.
- 9:45Speaker 3: I just added last year pop cast host. I'm the host. Uh,
- 9:51Speaker 3: let's talk about it on the Crew podcast where we
- 9:54Speaker 3: talk about it injustice.
- 9:57Speaker 4: And I also just at Arthur to my name.
- 10:04Speaker 3: And also I just found out I was a poet
- 10:07Speaker 3: and how I started. Oh and I also hold a
- 10:12Speaker 3: Class ass B licensed. I'm a commercial driver as well.
- 10:17Speaker 3: I've been driving buses for thirty plus years. I started
- 10:22Speaker 3: in school buses. I moved up public transportation and that's
- 10:27Speaker 3: it how I got started and writing poetry. And twenty
- 10:34Speaker 3: twenty November tenth, twenty twenty three, I found my son responsive.
- 10:46Speaker 4: And that's shoot, that shoo my world. My only son.
- 10:51Speaker 3: I have three daughters and he was my only son
- 10:54Speaker 3: and he had congested heart failure. So when he went
- 11:00Speaker 3: to sleep on November, the last time I heard him
- 11:07Speaker 3: closest door to his room. My son just slept away.
- 11:13Speaker 3: And so these.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Last this last past year has been.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Really hard for me to be frank, you know, to.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Adjust.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Went just came through the holiday season, and that was
- 11:31Speaker 2: real bad on me. You know, I'm not gonna sugarcoat nothing,
- 11:35Speaker 2: you know, it was.
- 11:37Speaker 3: It was really hard on me. So in order to
- 11:43Speaker 3: deal with to start releasing some of the pain, Angela
- 11:46Speaker 3: always you know, she encouraged me, you know, right, So
- 11:52Speaker 3: her first book, the first anthology I've written in I
- 12:00Speaker 3: just sent her a poem and it was entitled good
- 12:04Speaker 3: Night the day I said good night to my son.
- 12:09Speaker 3: And I sent it to her and she was like,
- 12:12Speaker 3: can I use this? And I was like, sure, whatever,
- 12:15Speaker 3: you know, and then next thing I know, she sent
- 12:19Speaker 3: me back, Oh, I need a couple of more.
- 12:21Speaker 4: I'm like a couple of more.
- 12:22Speaker 3: You know, I'm just sitting I just sat in the
- 12:24Speaker 3: car and I was just looking up in the sky
- 12:27Speaker 3: and I was just you know, reminiscing or you know,
- 12:30Speaker 3: thinking about him. And that's how I began to write.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I started putting my feeling in my pain on paper
- 12:39Speaker 3: because I really thought during that time, I thought that
- 12:43Speaker 3: I was gonna lose myself. I thought, you know that
- 12:48Speaker 3: I will be better with you know, not here. You know,
- 12:52Speaker 3: if you don't pay it doing grief, when you don't
- 12:54Speaker 3: pay attention to the voice that speaking to you, you
- 12:58Speaker 3: can you know, you can really lose yourself or you
- 13:00Speaker 3: can harm yourself. So I didn't want to harm myself
- 13:05Speaker 3: because I have three daughters.
- 13:07Speaker 4: That needed me.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Even though they're my children are grown, you know, they
- 13:11Speaker 3: they still needed me, and my grandchildren needed me. So
- 13:16Speaker 3: that's how they came. Beginning to write was through the
- 13:23Speaker 3: passing of my son Kyle in twenty twenty five.
- 13:30Speaker 6: I am.
- 13:32Speaker 3: I'm looking to release my first anthology, entitle from Grief
- 13:38Speaker 3: to Glory, and you know, inspired my son.
- 13:42Speaker 4: You know a lot of poetry.
- 13:44Speaker 3: You know, I'm basically writing to him, you know my
- 13:49Speaker 3: feelings how I felt the first year.
- 13:51Speaker 4: So I'm working on that.
- 13:52Speaker 3: I was looking for I still am looking for Arthur's
- 13:56Speaker 3: that want up to anticipate in it. If you know
- 13:59Speaker 3: they lost family members and there you know they extend
- 14:05Speaker 3: right to them.
- 14:05Speaker 4: You know, hook me, you know me up. You know
- 14:09Speaker 4: we can do this together through.
- 14:14Speaker 7: Yeh.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Also, my husband.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Is is in us in.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Fighting a wrong for conviction and Denver.
- 14:28Speaker 3: So my APRAC let's talk as we talk about injustice.
- 14:32Speaker 3: My co hosts Cornell. You know, we talked to men
- 14:38Speaker 3: as in Thish looking nonprofit start entitled well Stand for Justice.
- 14:49Speaker 3: We find that there's a lot of nonprofits, a lot
- 14:53Speaker 3: of people that advocate for injustice. They don't they don't
- 14:58Speaker 3: follow the grow They get out the loved ones are
- 15:02Speaker 3: that one person that they looking for and that's it,
- 15:05Speaker 3: and they forget about the men. They give the men
- 15:08Speaker 3: and women hope and then they snatch it. They you know,
- 15:12Speaker 3: there's no hope for them. So that's one of that's
- 15:15Speaker 3: on my list things to do in twenty twenty five
- 15:19Speaker 3: is start my nonprofit and also you know, start a business.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I started school. Angela encouraged me to get back in school.
- 15:27Speaker 3: So I'm doing school in honor of my son because
- 15:31Speaker 3: he wanted to go to college and he didn't get
- 15:33Speaker 3: to go. So my business, I'm majoring in business with
- 15:37Speaker 3: a minor and criminal justice and I'm looking to start
- 15:43Speaker 3: for my business, a transportation business. So's it's a lot
- 15:49Speaker 3: that I'm trying to do. I want to leave a
- 15:52Speaker 3: legacy for my grandsons, you know, so that's that's a
- 15:58Speaker 3: bit about me. Oh and I all so worked for
- 16:00Speaker 3: a lighthouse or the blind. Were on my drive for
- 16:05Speaker 3: visual impair adults and I take they go to school
- 16:10Speaker 3: where they're long cooking.
- 16:14Speaker 4: Braill are.
- 16:16Speaker 3: They learned a lot and they are amazing. Wow that's
- 16:20Speaker 3: it about me. Wow, that's a lot.
- 16:24Speaker 2: That is a lot. Well, thank you for sharing, Thank
- 16:27Speaker 2: you for sharing.
- 16:27Speaker 8: And we have.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Miss Glendora Boy in the building. How are you tonight?
- 16:33Speaker 2: I'm great, Thank you so much.
- 16:35Speaker 8: I was listening to the other two ladies stories and
- 16:39Speaker 8: they really touched my heart. Well anyway, I am Glendoria
- 16:43Speaker 8: Phillips Boy. I am a mother of three, a grandmother
- 16:48Speaker 8: of five with two in the oven.
- 16:51Speaker 2: That makes seven.
- 16:53Speaker 8: That's the two in the oven is gonna be here
- 16:55Speaker 8: in July, so I am very excited about that. I
- 17:00Speaker 8: am also a great grandmother of three and my life
- 17:05Speaker 8: is just full with all my kids, my grandkids and
- 17:09Speaker 8: my great grandkids. I am a motivational speaker, I am
- 17:15Speaker 8: a teacher, I am an author, and I am a poet.
- 17:21Speaker 8: I have written several books. I have one coming out
- 17:27Speaker 8: in February of twenty twenty five. It's an anthology that
- 17:31Speaker 8: I've done with I can't think of it with Women's Association.
- 17:41Speaker 8: Voices of the twenty first Century is the one that's
- 17:45Speaker 8: coming out in February, so I'm very excited about that.
- 17:50Speaker 8: And I just just finished two that came out with
- 17:57Speaker 8: You Angela, and I'm very excited about those. I've been
- 18:03Speaker 8: really busy, so it's kind of hard for me to
- 18:06Speaker 8: at this point in my life to keep up with
- 18:07Speaker 8: all the names of everything that you know that I
- 18:10Speaker 8: have going on. But I'm very excited to be where
- 18:13Speaker 8: I am in life. And I think God is the
- 18:15Speaker 8: one that has brought me this far, and I do
- 18:19Speaker 8: believe that he's going to take me even further. I
- 18:24Speaker 8: am a caregiver right now. I've had several different positions
- 18:29Speaker 8: in life, but right now I am a caregiver. And
- 18:34Speaker 8: the book that's coming out in February, my chapters are
- 18:40Speaker 8: all Caring for Caira. So what I want to do
- 18:44Speaker 8: in twenty twenty five is to take that book and
- 18:47Speaker 8: turn it into I mean, take that those two chapters
- 18:50Speaker 8: and turn it into my very own, my very own
- 18:55Speaker 8: book talking about caregiving and the ins and outs of
- 19:00Speaker 8: you know, taking care of a loved one. Because a
- 19:04Speaker 8: lot of people I don't know if many people know this,
- 19:07Speaker 8: but it is not an easy task. It is something
- 19:11Speaker 8: you know, it can be very difficult at times. But
- 19:16Speaker 8: you know, with God, we know that we can do
- 19:19Speaker 8: all things through Christ, who strengthens us. And so that's
- 19:23Speaker 8: where I am with this, and I'm just just amazed
- 19:28Speaker 8: at how much God has strengthened me, how much God
- 19:33Speaker 8: has brought me through, and how He's carrying me on,
- 19:38Speaker 8: you know, through it all. You know, things that I thought,
- 19:42Speaker 8: you know, I would never do. God has shown me
- 19:46Speaker 8: that we can never say what we will never do
- 19:49Speaker 8: because we don't know. Only God knows what we will
- 19:52Speaker 8: do and what we won't do. And so you know
- 19:55Speaker 8: that in itself is a story. So I've been right
- 20:00Speaker 8: for since two thousand and two, I think, and actually
- 20:06Speaker 8: even before that. My first book was published in two
- 20:08Speaker 8: thousand and two and then but I actually started writing
- 20:13Speaker 8: as a as a as a child, you know, as
- 20:15Speaker 8: a as a young a young teenager, you know, And
- 20:20Speaker 8: so it has just led me this far in life.
- 20:24Speaker 8: And I still have that passion. I still have that desire.
- 20:29Speaker 8: I write true life poetry and I write true life stories.
- 20:34Speaker 8: You know that affect me, That affect others. You know,
- 20:37Speaker 8: whatever the Lord gives me and say, well, write this down,
- 20:40Speaker 8: that's what I do. So, like I said, you know,
- 20:43Speaker 8: I'm busy, and I really don't like to use the
- 20:47Speaker 8: word busy, but I am. You know, I'm involved. I'm
- 20:52Speaker 8: involved with a lot of different things, a lot of
- 20:55Speaker 8: different people, a lot of different avenues where I can
- 21:00Speaker 8: role from what the Lord has given me to do
- 21:02Speaker 8: with these, with everything that He's bringing me through. I
- 21:06Speaker 8: also teach at the Union Gospel Mission here in Fort Worth, Texas.
- 21:11Speaker 8: And by the way, I am from Texas. Fort Worth, Texas.
- 21:16Speaker 8: That's where I live in here for like about thirty
- 21:19Speaker 8: years now, and so this is my home. I am
- 21:22Speaker 8: married and I don't have any kids in the house,
- 21:26Speaker 8: but we are taking care of my niece who is
- 21:29Speaker 8: disabled at this time. So I think that's about it
- 21:33Speaker 8: that I can, you know, share with you for right now.
- 21:35Speaker 8: But I'm just glad to be here, glad to be
- 21:38Speaker 8: in the atmosphere with you other poets and other women
- 21:43Speaker 8: and men. So I just thank you you guys for
- 21:47Speaker 8: allowing me to share this stage with you.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Well, I thank you all for joining us on tonight
- 21:56Speaker 2: and sharing as I listen to you guys, all I
- 22:00Speaker 2: hear is purpose and legacy and just wanting to make
- 22:08Speaker 2: a difference and leave your your blueprint. And I think
- 22:13Speaker 2: all three of you guys are inside of the legacy Chronicles,
- 22:19Speaker 2: Mission and Schnette are in all three books, and you're
- 22:22Speaker 2: in the last two books Footprints in the Sands of
- 22:25Speaker 2: Time and Eternal Echoes, which I tell you that that book,
- 22:31Speaker 2: that series alone was just God sent. God dropped it
- 22:35Speaker 2: in my spirit, and the chapters, the different sections that
- 22:39Speaker 2: he dropped in my spirit, it was all him because
- 22:44Speaker 2: the last book was written during the time that I
- 22:49Speaker 2: lost my brother. Didn't when he gave me all of
- 22:53Speaker 2: these He gave it to me. He gave me all
- 22:56Speaker 2: three books at one time. He gave me all of
- 22:58Speaker 2: the end ends and outs of it. But I didn't
- 23:01Speaker 2: know that I was going to lose my brother. So
- 23:04Speaker 2: losing my brother and actually doing that book, it made
- 23:10Speaker 2: the grief process for me a little lighter because I
- 23:14Speaker 2: was able to really express I was able to get
- 23:16Speaker 2: some of those things out and the way that He
- 23:19Speaker 2: allowed me to share. But I want to share this
- 23:22Speaker 2: poem with you guys, because you guys are truly allowing
- 23:27Speaker 2: him to unveil his purpose to you, guys, And the
- 23:31Speaker 2: name of this poem, and it's inside of the footprints
- 23:33Speaker 2: and the sands of time, is called unveiling purpose. Pondering
- 23:39Speaker 2: the deeps, understanding the mysteries that prevail, reaching for the
- 23:47Speaker 2: meaning and the shadows that veer, pursuing truth to spelling
- 23:50Speaker 2: our fear, opening our hearts to the callings unknown, seeking
- 23:55Speaker 2: our purpose and whispers and tones, embracing the journey, that
- 24:00Speaker 2: path to explore. And that's that piece. It's called unveiling purpose.
- 24:05Speaker 2: And I truly believe that you guys are allowing him to,
- 24:10Speaker 2: step by step unveil your purpose to you guys, and
- 24:15Speaker 2: Miss Glendoria, you're not doing too much. You're not all
- 24:21Speaker 2: over the place, you're not busy. You're doing exactly what
- 24:26Speaker 2: you're supposed to be doing. Because you are able to
- 24:34Speaker 2: reach different people on different platforms. You're able to make connections.
- 24:37Speaker 2: You're able to allow that that he has placed on
- 24:40Speaker 2: the inside of you, all those things that he's placed
- 24:43Speaker 2: on the inside of you. I listened to Michelin when
- 24:46Speaker 2: she was saying she don't know if it was hearing
- 24:48Speaker 2: those scriptures and sitting under I think it was her
- 24:51Speaker 2: grandfather or her father. Me too. I was the same way.
- 24:55Speaker 2: My great grandfather was a pastor, so every time we
- 24:58Speaker 2: went to his ch his house, it seemed like we
- 25:01Speaker 2: was going to church because he he made sure that
- 25:06Speaker 2: we was covered. I mean, I don't care if you
- 25:08Speaker 2: just come from church or what the situation was. We
- 25:11Speaker 2: had service before we left there. I tell you now,
- 25:16Speaker 2: I appreciate those things because all of those prayers that
- 25:20Speaker 2: he prayed over me. Now I'm hosting a prayer line
- 25:25Speaker 2: five years February of five years, five am. Every morning
- 25:32Speaker 2: we get up and we intercede. You know, everybody. We
- 25:39Speaker 2: may think we're not where we're supposed to be, but
- 25:41Speaker 2: we are right where we are supposed to be because
- 25:45Speaker 2: guess what, he know all things, He see all things,
- 25:49Speaker 2: and he knew where we would be. Poetry has been
- 25:53Speaker 2: an outlet for me, And I want to know. I
- 25:57Speaker 2: heard Michelin's story, I heard Snett, Miss Boyd. How has
- 26:04Speaker 2: poetry been that pulse for you? Tonight is pulse of poetry.
- 26:11Speaker 2: How has that been a pulse for you? How has
- 26:13Speaker 2: that ignited something within you?
- 26:18Speaker 8: Poetry for me has given me an outlet, you know,
- 26:24Speaker 8: when things really bother me or get under my skin
- 26:32Speaker 8: or make me sad. God has given me the ability
- 26:38Speaker 8: to write that stuff down, put it in poetry form,
- 26:43Speaker 8: and turn it from sadness to joy. You know, I
- 26:48Speaker 8: can't really explain it the way I can think it,
- 26:53Speaker 8: but it has been such an amazing journey because it
- 27:00Speaker 8: leaves that pressure in me. You know. If I don't
- 27:04Speaker 8: let that pressure out in some sort of way, then
- 27:08Speaker 8: I could suffer a heart attack or stroke or you know,
- 27:11Speaker 8: something horrible. But by me, by me taking the pains
- 27:17Speaker 8: of life and putting them into poetry forms, it gives
- 27:22Speaker 8: me a release, you know. And then when I shared
- 27:26Speaker 8: it with others, it brings about a joy even if
- 27:30Speaker 8: it's a sad occasion. God has given me the ability
- 27:33Speaker 8: to take that and flip it. So even if it's
- 27:36Speaker 8: a sad occasion, even if somebody die, if somebody get hurt,
- 27:41Speaker 8: I can turn that situation around with my pen, you know.
- 27:45Speaker 8: And and and that for me, it is paramount, you know.
- 27:51Speaker 8: It It relieves me, It fills me with joy, and
- 27:57Speaker 8: I'm able to help others by doing that.
- 28:02Speaker 7: Wow.
- 28:03Speaker 2: That that that's amazing to be able to as you heal,
- 28:09Speaker 2: you also helping someone else here. That that's so amazing
- 28:15Speaker 2: and to know that you know, everything that we go through,
- 28:21Speaker 2: it is not always for us, you know. And the
- 28:25Speaker 2: fact that we're able to move past all of that
- 28:29Speaker 2: and able to put it, put what's going on on
- 28:33Speaker 2: the inside on paper so that we can release it.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Like you said, get it out, because it can cause
- 28:40Speaker 2: a heart attack, It can cause a kind of physical
- 28:44Speaker 2: getting it out and releasing it. Yes, it can. It
- 28:48Speaker 2: is so friend And people say, this is how you
- 28:51Speaker 2: come up with all these books. I don't. I just
- 28:54Speaker 2: want to be free, and I just allow him to
- 28:57Speaker 2: allow me to be free. Like over the last two days,
- 29:02Speaker 2: I released two books, all devotions, All devotionals. One God
- 29:07Speaker 2: is God, God is My Present Help that That is
- 29:12Speaker 2: the name of the twenty one day devotional. The thirty
- 29:16Speaker 2: one day devotional is a coastal walk with I am
- 29:20Speaker 2: that I am a teen Bible gude to teach teens
- 29:27Speaker 2: you know, how to have that relationship and knowing because
- 29:33Speaker 2: I remember when I got saved. I can't speak for
- 29:35Speaker 2: nobody else, but I remember when I got saved, and
- 29:39Speaker 2: I didn't have nobody telling me, oh, you're gonna have
- 29:43Speaker 2: these temptations, you're gonna have and so when these temptations came.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Then guess what nine ten, Nine times out of ten
- 29:50Speaker 2: I gave in exactly, I gave in. I back sleep
- 29:54Speaker 2: so many times. But now I can look back and
- 29:58Speaker 2: I can look at those those things that I error
- 30:01Speaker 2: in and try to share with somebody else so they don't.
- 30:05Speaker 7: Have the error.
- 30:06Speaker 2: You know, give them, you know, scriptures and things that
- 30:09Speaker 2: they can do and how to apply because we read
- 30:11Speaker 2: these words, yea, and sometimes we may not understand all
- 30:15Speaker 2: those words in the Bible. And and and that was
- 30:18Speaker 2: a lot of I'm not I'm gonna be honest. That
- 30:20Speaker 2: was a lot of my problem growing up. All those
- 30:22Speaker 2: big words. King James had me messed up. I couldn't understand.
- 30:27Speaker 2: He had me all messed up. But now God revealed
- 30:31Speaker 2: words to me. He breaks words down to me like purpose,
- 30:35Speaker 2: and he'll he'll get me word the word and give
- 30:38Speaker 2: me five sentences for each one, and it just it
- 30:43Speaker 2: just be so amazing. And then I'm talking about little
- 30:45Speaker 2: words they become books and I'm just thankful. And it's
- 30:50Speaker 2: a gift.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Shoe.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I want you because I know that you say I
- 30:57Speaker 2: push you, but really what made you say? Because I
- 31:05Speaker 2: can say you don't always you don't always say Okay,
- 31:10Speaker 2: miss angel I'm gonna do it, and she always say
- 31:13Speaker 2: miss Angela, even though she older than me, y'all is
- 31:15Speaker 2: she just do it? But what made you say, Okay,
- 31:20Speaker 2: I'm gonna give in, I'm going to do this. Because Shenett,
- 31:23Speaker 2: I've been with you. I know. I came out to California.
- 31:26Speaker 2: I was out there three weeks. I know what you've
- 31:29Speaker 2: been dealing with. I know what you've been going through.
- 31:31Speaker 2: What made you decide that you really wanted to Because
- 31:34Speaker 2: you've been pinning some nice work. It ain't just been
- 31:37Speaker 2: some I'm talking about for a new poet. You've been
- 31:39Speaker 2: pinning some nice pieces. So what made you decide that
- 31:43Speaker 2: this was what I wanted to do to release? Because
- 31:47Speaker 2: you could have chose anything. You could have got back
- 31:49Speaker 2: on the road and drove trucks or drove busses.
- 31:53Speaker 4: M hm.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Me, I can't hear you?
- 32:05Speaker 3: Yeah, you know that was my That was my Can
- 32:09Speaker 3: you hear me now?
- 32:11Speaker 2: Yeah? I can hear you.
- 32:14Speaker 9: Can you hear me?
- 32:16Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 32:16Speaker 3: Okay? That was my plan to go to get my
- 32:21Speaker 3: class ADS license. I actually resigned from one of my
- 32:26Speaker 3: jobs the day before my son passed. But I since passed,
- 32:32Speaker 3: and I have put that on a back burner, but
- 32:35Speaker 3: because I felt like I wasn't safe. And when you
- 32:38Speaker 3: out there driving heavy equipment like that, you have life. Uh,
- 32:44Speaker 3: you had the life of the public in your hands.
- 32:47Speaker 3: So I don't want to be driving. And all of
- 32:50Speaker 3: a sudden, I see some or get a smell that
- 32:53Speaker 3: reminds me of my son, and now all of a sudden,
- 32:56Speaker 3: I'm crying. But but look at this, Look at God.
- 33:00Speaker 3: My cousin called me yesterday and it's a lady at
- 33:03Speaker 3: her church that's looking for women that wants to drive
- 33:07Speaker 3: trucks and she wants they have a school. And she
- 33:11Speaker 3: called me, she said, Nick, do you still.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Want to drive?
- 33:16Speaker 3: And my answer was yes, So I am going to go.
- 33:20Speaker 3: I'm gonna turn my bees into a's. And you know, Angelie,
- 33:25Speaker 3: you asked me the question, do you push me? Or
- 33:31Speaker 3: what made me give in? It's because when you lose
- 33:34Speaker 3: a child, it's painful. It's like your breath like somebody
- 33:39Speaker 3: done socked you in your stomach and you're trying to just.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Just get breathed. I wasn't able to breathe.
- 33:48Speaker 3: I wasn't I had avoided my heart, a hole in
- 33:52Speaker 3: my heart. I had so much anger in me and
- 33:57Speaker 3: people will say, well, why you know you can't be angry. Yes,
- 34:01Speaker 3: I was angry my son. You know, I wondered, did
- 34:04Speaker 3: he say, did he think about me the last time
- 34:08Speaker 3: I looked in his eyes? Did you know did he
- 34:12Speaker 3: want to tell me?
- 34:13Speaker 4: Look, Mama, you know.
- 34:17Speaker 3: I'm not gonna be here when you get when you
- 34:19Speaker 3: wake up in the morning, actually, when when you come
- 34:22Speaker 3: in my room in the afternoon, I'm not gonna be here.
- 34:27Speaker 3: You know you think about me? How did you feel?
- 34:34Speaker 5: You know?
- 34:34Speaker 4: That's how?
- 34:36Speaker 3: And then God start dealing with me, and you know
- 34:40Speaker 3: I was such a wreck when I tell you, guys,
- 34:43Speaker 3: I was a wreck, and sometimes I am still a
- 34:45Speaker 3: wreck because the pain I can't. I cannot. If you
- 34:51Speaker 3: have not experience of losing the child, I cannot describe
- 34:54Speaker 3: the pain. It's just like labor pains, but worse. So
- 35:00Speaker 3: that's what pushed me into I want to like Angela.
- 35:03Speaker 3: I told you that last week when I told you
- 35:06Speaker 3: I don't, I was I'm holding on to the pain
- 35:10Speaker 3: because because I feel like if I let it go,
- 35:13Speaker 3: I'm letting my son go. We had that conversation. But
- 35:20Speaker 3: when every time I write I'm expressing to him. I'm
- 35:26Speaker 3: telling him how I feel about him. Oh, you know,
- 35:31Speaker 3: even though I know he didn't have no control, We
- 35:33Speaker 3: all ain't got no control of that. You know how
- 35:36Speaker 3: I felt you say goodbye to me. You didn't hug me,
- 35:41Speaker 3: You didn't give me a kiss, You just you. You
- 35:45Speaker 3: just laid in my bed and you you was sleeping.
- 35:49Speaker 3: When I came in my room, I asked you, Kyle,
- 35:55Speaker 3: can you go in your room? And you got up.
- 35:57Speaker 2: You didn't even look at me. Wow, she got disconnected.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Hopefully she would be back on. I think she's coming
- 36:13Speaker 2: back on now. You got Disconnectednette, You're back on now,
- 36:26Speaker 2: m Jeannette, you're on? Can you hear us? I think
- 36:39Speaker 2: that one technicol line, Yeah you went, you got knocked off,
- 36:44Speaker 2: your back down?
- 36:45Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, I've seen that, you know, But.
- 36:51Speaker 2: You know that's what.
- 36:55Speaker 3: I mean.
- 36:58Speaker 4: That's my drive, you know, I want to.
- 37:04Speaker 3: I couldn't feel a lot of people have been telling me, don't.
- 37:07Speaker 3: It's not okay, two feel. But I wanted to feel
- 37:14Speaker 3: the pain. And boy, when I tell you that's some pain,
- 37:17Speaker 3: that's some pain. I wanted to feel the emotions. I
- 37:21Speaker 3: wanted to feel, so by me feeling it. I'm able
- 37:25Speaker 3: to write it and then want someone pick up a
- 37:28Speaker 3: book that I have written in, or they pick up
- 37:31Speaker 3: my book and they are.
- 37:34Speaker 4: Experienced the same thing. They will see that.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Yes, it hurts for a minute, but you're gonna get
- 37:42Speaker 3: through it. You're gonna be all right. Get you an Angela.
- 37:46Speaker 3: I gotta Angela. Hey Man, that pushed me and I
- 37:52Speaker 3: love her so much.
- 37:54Speaker 10: A man.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Ms micheline.
- 37:58Speaker 7: Yes, yeah, so this.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Journey for you, I've heard your journey for a while.
- 38:08Speaker 2: But I know that you are encouraged by your dad.
- 38:15Speaker 2: Somebody got here and your brother. Your brother was your
- 38:21Speaker 2: biggest influence. Yes, but what has been your drive here lately?
- 38:31Speaker 2: Because you've been writing for a while, So what has
- 38:35Speaker 2: been your drive? I see your sharing, I see you
- 38:39Speaker 2: doing more. I see you're truly allowing him to unveil
- 38:45Speaker 2: that purpose to you. I'm supposed to be done. I'm
- 38:49Speaker 2: still waiting on that book. I'm still waiting on that
- 38:51Speaker 2: book project of your I'm sorry, but ahead no, I said,
- 38:58Speaker 2: I'm still waiting on that book project, A solo book
- 39:00Speaker 2: project of your own.
- 39:02Speaker 5: Well, it's gonna happen in twenty twenty five, it definitely is.
- 39:06Speaker 5: But I think what's been my drive is I was
- 39:10Speaker 5: talking to a girlfriend yesterday and I pretty much was,
- 39:15Speaker 5: you know, right in here and there all my life,
- 39:18Speaker 5: but I forgot about things. So yesterday I was saying
- 39:22Speaker 5: to her, I was like, I forgot I wrote for
- 39:25Speaker 5: the school newspaper. And then I took my grandson to
- 39:29Speaker 5: the library and they had a story time and they
- 39:33Speaker 5: had a puppet show, and I was like, I used
- 39:36Speaker 5: to put on puppets. I didn't have real puppets. I
- 39:39Speaker 5: had sucks, you know, and my brother and friends and
- 39:43Speaker 5: stuff would come and watch it. Another thing is like
- 39:47Speaker 5: growing up, everything wasn't always so great for me. And
- 39:51Speaker 5: I had a diary. We didn't call them journals back then,
- 39:55Speaker 5: and I would just write my thoughts and feelings down.
- 40:00Speaker 5: So it was like I was writing, but you know how,
- 40:05Speaker 5: you think that I want to be this, and God says, no,
- 40:10Speaker 5: you're going to be that. So the first time that
- 40:13Speaker 5: the opportunity was presented to me to actually be in
- 40:17Speaker 5: a book, I was like scared, and I'm like, okay,
- 40:21Speaker 5: I'm gonna do it. And then my friends were like
- 40:24Speaker 5: about time. Also in the past, I have a really
- 40:28Speaker 5: good friend and she's like, really excellent and poetry and
- 40:33Speaker 5: now she's actually a comedian. And I would go and
- 40:37Speaker 5: watch her and she would tell me to get up
- 40:40Speaker 5: there and do something because I had stuff, but I
- 40:44Speaker 5: didn't share it, you know, it was just me and
- 40:46Speaker 5: how you said, it's not always for you, it's for
- 40:49Speaker 5: somebody else. So this one day I got up enough
- 40:54Speaker 5: courage and I went up there and I said something.
- 40:58Speaker 5: And they had featured poet and at the time they
- 41:02Speaker 5: had them on cassette tapes they were selling.
- 41:05Speaker 8: You know.
- 41:05Speaker 5: So people came and was like, well, where's your stuff at?
- 41:09Speaker 5: And I was like, you know, if you only knew,
- 41:12Speaker 5: I didn't even want to get up there, you know,
- 41:14Speaker 5: to doing things, you know, like And so then I
- 41:18Speaker 5: had another friend and her friend owned a framing shop,
- 41:23Speaker 5: so she would hold these art parties for you know,
- 41:29Speaker 5: new artists to sell their work, but she would frame
- 41:32Speaker 5: the pictures. And so we would have you know, poetry
- 41:37Speaker 5: and wine and different jazz and different entertainment. And the
- 41:41Speaker 5: same friend, her name is Joanne Ash that told me
- 41:45Speaker 5: to get up there and do it. She was like,
- 41:47Speaker 5: write something, you know, you do it. So I was
- 41:50Speaker 5: doing it for a while. Also, like I said, the
- 41:53Speaker 5: things that weren't so great for me in life. I
- 41:57Speaker 5: would just write my feelings down and you know, write
- 42:00Speaker 5: it so to get it off my chest. As you
- 42:04Speaker 5: lady said, it was healing for you, and that was
- 42:07Speaker 5: really what it was. It was healing. But it seemed
- 42:10Speaker 5: like once you got it out, how you said, Miss Glendora,
- 42:15Speaker 5: about if you didn't get it out you would have
- 42:18Speaker 5: a heart attack. And I mean and I would feel
- 42:20Speaker 5: that sometimes and I would just have to write things down.
- 42:24Speaker 5: So what made me do more is I'm like, okay,
- 42:29Speaker 5: you know, I guess I'm not so bad at this,
- 42:32Speaker 5: and a part of me was like, well, you know,
- 42:36Speaker 5: somebody might get something out of it, so I'm going
- 42:38Speaker 5: to continue, you know, to do it. And when you
- 42:42Speaker 5: were also talking about legacy, I have three granddaughters, three grandsons,
- 42:49Speaker 5: but it was really about my granddaughters because I didn't
- 42:53Speaker 5: start writing at you know, twenty, you know, I really
- 42:57Speaker 5: started like over fifty, and I just always wanted them
- 43:01Speaker 5: to know it's not too late. Whatever you want to do,
- 43:04Speaker 5: whatever God puts in your heart, you can do it.
- 43:07Speaker 5: So then I just started doing it more for that.
- 43:10Speaker 5: And also Miss Sewnette, where you were talking about grieving
- 43:14Speaker 5: for your son. My son is still here, but I
- 43:18Speaker 5: grieve for him. And I didn't even know that you
- 43:21Speaker 5: can grief people who are alive, because he lost his
- 43:25Speaker 5: sight like four years ago and he's forty one, so
- 43:29Speaker 5: all these years of him seeing, so it was like
- 43:32Speaker 5: the life we knew and what was going on, it
- 43:35Speaker 5: was changed. So I also had like grief and feelings
- 43:40Speaker 5: and different things that I needed to get on paper,
- 43:43Speaker 5: you know, because you know, I was like a basket
- 43:47Speaker 5: case from that, you know. So I thank God that
- 43:50Speaker 5: I can look at him every day, but it bothers
- 43:53Speaker 5: me that he can't look at me. He can't see
- 43:56Speaker 5: his daughters grow. So I just kind of feel like
- 44:00Speaker 5: I'm the eyes and the voice for me and him
- 44:04Speaker 5: for his daughters to know like, yeah, well your dad
- 44:07Speaker 5: can't do this, but look at what he's doing. And
- 44:10Speaker 5: I just want to be a vessel, you know, for
- 44:13Speaker 5: my family and for other people who might be in
- 44:17Speaker 5: that situation. So I just had to conquer the fear,
- 44:22Speaker 5: because that's what it was for me. I also felt
- 44:25Speaker 5: like I'm not good enough, like I don't write like
- 44:29Speaker 5: this person, I don't use the words in the vocabulary
- 44:33Speaker 5: of that person, but you know, everybody was just like,
- 44:37Speaker 5: you just got to beat you. So I just started saying, well,
- 44:42Speaker 5: I'm not gonna be afraid. And then when you say, well,
- 44:45Speaker 5: I'm doing this book, you know, and I'm like, well, yeah,
- 44:48Speaker 5: you know, I'm gonna do it. Because getting to me
- 44:51Speaker 5: doing my book, I felt like since I was kind
- 44:54Speaker 5: of leaked to the game that I had to learn
- 44:58Speaker 5: how to crawl before I walked, you know. And then
- 45:02Speaker 5: with the collaborations and anthologies, I felt like it was
- 45:05Speaker 5: a blessing because I'm like, oh, like you being in
- 45:09Speaker 5: Texas and you in California. I'm like, oh, somebody in
- 45:12Speaker 5: California read my stuff. And you know, I did some
- 45:16Speaker 5: international things as well, and so I just was like, well,
- 45:21Speaker 5: do what God has for you to do, and just
- 45:26Speaker 5: be a voice for the people who don't have a voice,
- 45:29Speaker 5: and just you know, speak your words and hopefully it
- 45:32Speaker 5: will encourage, it will heal, It might make somebody laugh,
- 45:37Speaker 5: It may get them out of a situation, you know,
- 45:40Speaker 5: because as Angela knows, like I was a victim of
- 45:43Speaker 5: domestic violence and I wish there was a book or
- 45:47Speaker 5: something that I could have went to to read or
- 45:50Speaker 5: somebody passed something.
- 45:52Speaker 9: On to me.
- 45:53Speaker 5: Some wisdom, some knowledge, and so now it's just like
- 45:57Speaker 5: I know that that's what God's plan is for me,
- 46:01Speaker 5: and so I'm just like, have your way. God put
- 46:05Speaker 5: the words in me. I'm gonna say what you want
- 46:08Speaker 5: me to say, and you know, and that's that's basically it.
- 46:12Speaker 5: I'm gonna keep on going and it is a release
- 46:16Speaker 5: to just get it out. And you know, when I do,
- 46:19Speaker 5: it's like I feel a lift is off of me.
- 46:24Speaker 2: You know, yes, yes, yes, And I want to share
- 46:29Speaker 2: something with you really quick. Michelin, your son. There is
- 46:34Speaker 2: a guy. His name is Bishop happy Feet. He's a pastor.
- 46:41Speaker 2: He's out of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was born sighted.
- 46:45Speaker 2: He lost his sight horse playing. He was playing as
- 46:50Speaker 2: a child. He also had to navigate foster care and
- 46:55Speaker 2: all of that as a blond child. He plays, he sings,
- 46:58Speaker 2: he does everything. He hang a TV on the wall,
- 47:01Speaker 2: he can do all of that and he has no site.
- 47:04Speaker 2: He makes sweet potato pies, he does all that. I
- 47:07Speaker 2: have had the privilege to meet him in person. I
- 47:09Speaker 2: traveled to Talent Hasset, spoke at a conference and he
- 47:12Speaker 2: was being ordained as a bishop during that time. So
- 47:18Speaker 2: definitely would love to put you in contact with them
- 47:20Speaker 2: as well, people that you know. This is their life,
- 47:24Speaker 2: this is what they've lived, and this is what they're
- 47:27Speaker 2: navigating through, so you can hear firsthand real life experiences
- 47:32Speaker 2: and this is what this is what what we do
- 47:36Speaker 2: and why we do what we do. Just reason this time,
- 47:40Speaker 2: because he knew what you would need, he knew what
- 47:43Speaker 2: we all would need. And just you guys sharing and
- 47:47Speaker 2: releasing these things, we're gonna get ready to wrap it up.
- 47:50Speaker 2: So I want you guys to get those pieces together
- 47:53Speaker 2: and when I call on you, on you to share
- 47:55Speaker 2: your piece and share how individuals can follow in some
- 48:00Speaker 2: for you. And then we're gonna wrap it up so
- 48:03Speaker 2: we can get ready for our next group of nominees
- 48:07Speaker 2: to come through. So I'm gonna start with Miss Glendoria,
- 48:11Speaker 2: and she's been so patiently waiting.
- 48:14Speaker 8: Oh, bless your heart, thank you so much.
- 48:18Speaker 11: Uh.
- 48:18Speaker 8: You know, I have two poems here and I don't
- 48:22Speaker 8: know if I can do them both. But it's so
- 48:24Speaker 8: hard because both of them means so much to me.
- 48:29Speaker 8: Let me just do the effects of cancer. I knew this,
- 48:33Speaker 8: knew this young lady. She called and asked me could
- 48:35Speaker 8: I write a cancer poem for her, and so I did.
- 48:38Speaker 8: So I'm gonna start with this one, and it's called
- 48:42Speaker 8: The Effects of Cancer. It says cancer comes like a
- 48:45Speaker 8: thief in the night, with a vengeance, wanting a fight,
- 48:48Speaker 8: and a fight we must do if we want to
- 48:52Speaker 8: make it through. It attacks the body while affecting the mind,
- 48:56Speaker 8: trying to kill us before our time. Yet we accept
- 49:00Speaker 8: what God allows, even though we don't know how. We
- 49:05Speaker 8: tell ourselves His grace is sufficient, His miracle healings are magnificent.
- 49:10Speaker 8: Still in the midnight hour we cry, trying to reason
- 49:14Speaker 8: with God to tell us why, why is this suddenly
- 49:18Speaker 8: my condition? Will this cancer go into remission? Blaming ourselves
- 49:23Speaker 8: for our poor nutrition? Could this be the result of
- 49:27Speaker 8: my non submission? The nights are long and fill with dread.
- 49:32Speaker 8: There are a million thoughts running through my head. How
- 49:35Speaker 8: and why Lord did I get cancer? Can you give
- 49:39Speaker 8: me an answer? Is this really my fate? Is there
- 49:44Speaker 8: some way I can't escape? I am humble Lord and
- 49:48Speaker 8: kneeling in prayer, hoping and praying my life You will spare,
- 49:53Speaker 8: Dear God. My courage is weak. That is why your
- 49:57Speaker 8: help I seek. You will make me strong again. I
- 50:04Speaker 8: have hope but you have a plan. So I will
- 50:07Speaker 8: wait patiently for my deliverance, while I'm trusting in your guidance,
- 50:13Speaker 8: knowing that I too shall overcome. Yet not my will,
- 50:18Speaker 8: but yours be done.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Selah.
- 50:22Speaker 8: That is by myself, Glendoria Board. And I wrote it
- 50:25Speaker 8: for a very true friend of mine. This other one,
- 50:31Speaker 8: thank you so much. This other one I wrote, and
- 50:35Speaker 8: it's not as long. I'm just gonna say this. Like
- 50:38Speaker 8: I said, I'm a caregiver. And this one of my
- 50:42Speaker 8: clients is eighty three years old. And one day she
- 50:44Speaker 8: told me that her old hands wasn't good for much anymore.
- 50:49Speaker 8: So she had a birthday, and so this is the
- 50:51Speaker 8: poem I wrote for her. I heard you say the
- 50:54Speaker 8: other day that your old hand wasn't good for anything anymore,
- 50:59Speaker 8: that they were old and wrinkled, and sometimes they are sore,
- 51:04Speaker 8: that they are just weary, And they are definitely worn.
- 51:08Speaker 8: Your skin barely covers them, yet they are, and they
- 51:13Speaker 8: are easily torn. They are weak and feeble and not
- 51:18Speaker 8: very strong. They can't pick up things like they used to,
- 51:21Speaker 8: nor hold on to them too long. Well, I want
- 51:25Speaker 8: you to know, dear one, this job, that the job
- 51:28Speaker 8: that those hands did, they praised and worshiped the Lord
- 51:32Speaker 8: and helped to raise your kids. They gave good gifts
- 51:35Speaker 8: to the poor and pats on the head when needed.
- 51:38Speaker 8: They clapped and encouraged. They prayed, and they pleaded. They
- 51:42Speaker 8: taught and instructed, as I detail with wisdom. They led
- 51:47Speaker 8: and guided something you did very well. So love those
- 51:51Speaker 8: old hands, my friends. They are a master of the arts.
- 51:55Speaker 8: They have traveled the world afar and touched many hearts.
- 51:58Speaker 8: Those old hands have served you well, young lady. They
- 52:02Speaker 8: have been tough, and yes they have toiled, but if anything,
- 52:07Speaker 8: treasure them and reclaim them as royal. So that was
- 52:12Speaker 8: the one that I wrote to her. Thank you, guys,
- 52:14Speaker 8: so much, Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can
- 52:17Speaker 8: be reached at Writings of Wisdom Glenduria pa at yahoo
- 52:24Speaker 8: dot com and uh if you want to call or text,
- 52:28Speaker 8: my phone number is eight one seven seven five nine
- 52:31Speaker 8: for zero. I am so thrilled to be here, Angela,
- 52:35Speaker 8: and I just thank you for this opportunity that you
- 52:39Speaker 8: pour into the people that you meet, all of us
- 52:42Speaker 8: authors and poets. You just I don't know, you are
- 52:47Speaker 8: so gifted, and I just want you to know that I,
- 52:49Speaker 8: for one, truly, truly truly appreciate you.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Angela, thank you, thank you. Sanette, if you would share
- 52:58Speaker 2: peace and how individuals can connect with you. You muted, Jette,
- 53:28Speaker 2: You muted Channette, you gotta mute. She muted herself when
- 53:41Speaker 2: she came back in and she couldn't unmute. We're gonna
- 53:44Speaker 2: move on to Michelin and we'll let Cheanette go last. Michelin,
- 53:48Speaker 2: if you would please share a peace and how individuals
- 53:51Speaker 2: can connect with you up last, Well.
- 53:55Speaker 5: This is from a book I that with you, the
- 53:58Speaker 5: volume two of silently Hurting Inside. So this is called
- 54:04Speaker 5: no more silently hurting to appease the Devil. I hid
- 54:09Speaker 5: your sins for many years in the process trying to
- 54:13Speaker 5: suppress my tears. I hid your shame inside of me
- 54:18Speaker 5: like I was the one who was a killer and
- 54:20Speaker 5: eif me. You killed my soul and stole my dignity
- 54:26Speaker 5: every time you put your hands on me.
- 54:28Speaker 2: Killer.
- 54:30Speaker 5: But in the streets you faked it like I was
- 54:34Speaker 5: the Queen Bee. I showed up for you on your job,
- 54:38Speaker 5: for family and friends, always representing, but it was always
- 54:43Speaker 5: bs in the n at church. You at church, you
- 54:48Speaker 5: big time praised the Lord. At home, it was cold,
- 54:51Speaker 5: and we were never on one accord. But behind closed doors,
- 54:56Speaker 5: the monster never despises. The devil's brother is constant and
- 55:01Speaker 5: full of surprises. So I prayed to the Lord for
- 55:04Speaker 5: guidance and peace. This depression I was feeling wouldn't allow
- 55:09Speaker 5: me to sleep. I played your game, sometimes for the
- 55:13Speaker 5: sake of the kids, but most time you promised things
- 55:16Speaker 5: just to manipulate their heads. The anger, the jealousy, his ego,
- 55:22Speaker 5: and pride wouldn't allow him to look at his selfish
- 55:25Speaker 5: self inside, never coming through like you said you were
- 55:30Speaker 5: going to do. Because you think you're our god and
- 55:33Speaker 5: we're supposed to bow down to you. It took me
- 55:36Speaker 5: a long time to realize that you're the reason my
- 55:41Speaker 5: head is stressful. I did some praying and realize you're
- 55:45Speaker 5: not on my level. No more silently hurting to appease
- 55:50Speaker 5: the devil. Then I have proverbs for yourself, like a
- 55:55Speaker 5: just proverb six ' five. Free yourself like a gazelle
- 55:59Speaker 5: from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from
- 56:02Speaker 5: the snare of the fowler. And you can find me
- 56:07Speaker 5: on all social media outlets into the gram, Facebook under
- 56:13Speaker 5: Michell and Moss and also author Michell and moss. I
- 56:19Speaker 5: have a paige as well.
- 56:22Speaker 2: Man, amen, well, thank you for sharing. Are you alive yet?
- 56:27Speaker 2: I think you are muted right now? Are you able
- 56:30Speaker 2: to share? I mute yourself. Yes?
- 56:43Speaker 3: Can you hear me now?
- 56:45Speaker 2: Yes?
- 56:46Speaker 4: Okay?
- 56:48Speaker 2: If you can share peace and how individuals can connect
- 56:51Speaker 2: with you.
- 56:53Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, So this one is in time, idle, let
- 57:02Speaker 3: me get I can okay. In the silence, a thunder,
- 57:10Speaker 3: a torn heart, a whisper of loss, that shadow the
- 57:14Speaker 3: heart took me hard, like a blow to my I saw,
- 57:19Speaker 3: oh a voice saw and miss. I gasp for air
- 57:24Speaker 3: that feel heavy and thick. Each breath ever remind, each
- 57:31Speaker 3: breath a reminder, each moment a tears fall, tears fall
- 57:39Speaker 3: like rain, a.
- 57:41Speaker 2: River of.
- 57:43Speaker 8: Sorrow. Tomorrow.
- 57:45Speaker 3: Oh Lord, here, my pre here, my plea. In this
- 57:49Speaker 3: desperate night, m breathe life into dreams, bring back the
- 57:57Speaker 3: light for an every heartbeat, it's ever soft side life,
- 58:06Speaker 3: live the love of my son who never said goodbye.
- 58:11Speaker 4: You can reach me.
- 58:12Speaker 3: At Schanette Johnson on Facebook or let's talk about it
- 58:16Speaker 3: on Facebook.

- 1:02:15Speaker 2: and I want you guys, to get an opportunity to

- 1:03:25Speaker 2: Y'all all deserve to be recognized, and I'm grateful that
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: you guys are taking this time to come on tonight

- 1:03:33Speaker 2: gonna start with Miss Melanie and allow her to introduce herself,
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: share a little bit about herself if she would.
- 1:03:42Speaker 9: Can even can you guys hear me?
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:03:45Speaker 6: Also again, my name is Melanie. The boys jumpson, and
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: I am proud to be this year's Poet of the Year.
- 1:03:56Speaker 6: It's been an amazing adventure being an author. I love
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: to write, but I'd never written for a magazine before.
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: So this year writing for Aspiring Artists magazine and using
- 1:04:08Speaker 6: that platform to introdu the world to other authors that
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: haven't been discovered yet, It's been amazing and I just
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: love it. I love sharing my poetry and sharing the
- 1:04:17Speaker 6: poetry of others.
- 1:04:19Speaker 9: Right now, I'm at a photo shoot.
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: I also am a professional photographer, so I stepped out
- 1:04:25Speaker 6: of the photo shoot to come and do the interview
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: with you. So if you see me looking around, it's
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: probably people waving on saying something. So I just enjoy life,
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: and I enjoy using my to help others to express
- 1:04:38Speaker 6: themselves and express the joy that they have in their
- 1:04:41Speaker 6: lives as well. I'm an educator. I teach middle school math,
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: not ELA's. Most people thought so I'm a math teacher
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: and I'm an author, and I don't know what else
- 1:04:54Speaker 6: I do. I just enjoy life and I enjoy helping
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: others to find their joy in life. I supposed I
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: was supposed to tell you how you can find You
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: can find me on on Facebook. Melanie Johnson, you can
- 1:05:08Speaker 6: find me on I G Melanie Johnson speaks and all
- 1:05:13Speaker 6: that good stuff.
- 1:05:14Speaker 9: Just find just google me, Just google me.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: Wow. Definitely, she definitely has her hand in a lot.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: She does do a lot, but definitely an encourage her.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: I had the opportunity to work with her during a
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: monologue and I had the ungrateful task of being a
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: mean girl to her. And I tell you it was.
- 1:05:43Speaker 6: Because in that monologue, we didn't know the parts that
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: we were going to be chosen for when we interviewed,
- 1:05:51Speaker 6: but everybody was a son something that really brought out
- 1:05:56Speaker 6: a character trait in them, and it was I mean
- 1:06:00Speaker 6: to see you being a mean.
- 1:06:01Speaker 9: Girl to me. It was okay because it was you,
- 1:06:03Speaker 9: and I knew it wasn't harmful.
- 1:06:05Speaker 6: But that kind of thing does happen, and we have
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: to be able to address it and understand it and
- 1:06:12Speaker 6: be able to move past it.
- 1:06:13Speaker 9: So I did.
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: It definitely was an amazing experience. Mister Nolan, if you
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: would introduce yourself and share a little bit about yourself.
- 1:06:32Speaker 11: Would love to do that.
- 1:06:33Speaker 10: First of all, Angelife to thank you for allowing me
- 1:06:35Speaker 10: to be on your platform. I remember you hit up
- 1:06:38Speaker 10: you being a while ago and that was a good time,
- 1:06:41Speaker 10: nice meeting. We are fellow poets. As in the room tonight.
- 1:06:45Speaker 10: My name is done with Holloway Junior, but I go
- 1:06:48Speaker 10: by mister Spride. I'm a co host of a virtual
- 1:06:53Speaker 10: talk show by the name of The Real Level Up.
- 1:06:55Speaker 11: We started with one show about six or seven years ago.
- 1:06:58Speaker 10: We now have shows, different shows and different genres, not
- 1:07:03Speaker 10: just poetry. We have Chah which is Christian hip hop.
- 1:07:08Speaker 10: We have a relationship show. We have another show with
- 1:07:11Speaker 10: the author of a book to help diabetic people change
- 1:07:17Speaker 10: their diet to got the A one C. I also
- 1:07:21Speaker 10: am an author of three books that you can find
- 1:07:24Speaker 10: me on Amazon my website.
- 1:07:26Speaker 11: Which is simply NOLANP. Holloway Junior dot com.
- 1:07:31Speaker 10: In addition to that, I know I don't have a
- 1:07:32Speaker 10: virtual screen that you can see behind me.
- 1:07:35Speaker 11: I have my sound.
- 1:07:36Speaker 12: Booth because I also do voiceovers as well. So just
- 1:07:40Speaker 12: doing a little bit of this, a little bit of that,
- 1:07:43Speaker 12: and just want to share my words and just as
- 1:07:47Speaker 12: a believer, spread the good news. That's kind of where
- 1:07:51Speaker 12: I'm at in my life right now. I got six grandkids.
- 1:07:54Speaker 10: I try to stay busy, and it's just an honor
- 1:07:57Speaker 10: to meet different poets that I can collaborate with. And
- 1:08:02Speaker 10: I'm looking forward to developing some relationships with you guys,
- 1:08:05Speaker 10: because you never know and they end up in the collaboration.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: Amen. Amen, That is that. That is definitely the whole
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: gist of a lot of what I do. I love
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: to bring people together because you never know what other
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: resources other people may have. And then I like to
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: pull like I may be weak in the area and
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: you may be strong in the area, and you may
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: be able to help me in that area.
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: I can't express it enough, you know, And I tell
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: people stuff like this is very important. The group that
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: we just had on it was just amazing because they
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: were able to connect. We have a young lady that
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: her son is blind and she's they've been having a
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: hard time well. Chanette one of the other young ladies
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: on there, she worked for an organization that works with
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: blind and I just came in contact with a bishop.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: He's a bishop. He runs a ministry and he's blind.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: Not only that he hangs TVs. He not only do that,
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: he make pies. He yes, he do all of that.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: I'm telling you. When you see and he seeing, and
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: he played the instruments and he set the instruments up.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: Ain't nobody told me that. I saw it for myself.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: And his name they called him. His name was pastor
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: happy Feet. Now his name is Bishop happy Feet because
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: when when he get to going in the spirit, all
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: you see is them feet. Get the movie and he'd
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: be so happy. But I tell you, God is good.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: You never know what we may need, what the next
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: person may have. And you guys have already done some
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: amazing things by putting your pen to paper and allowing
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: these words to come out, because you guys are now y'all,
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: y'all are poets, y'all are author published, y'all are small speakers.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: Y'all are out here doing it voiceovers and all the
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: stuff that y'all are doing to pouring to others because
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: y'all are not just thinking about y'allselves. Y'all are thinking
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: about the people around you. And that is purpose. Miss Martine,
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: you're up, and I want you to. I want you
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: to tell us a little bit about yourself. While you're
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: telling us a little bit about yourself, I want Melanie
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: and missuscribed to be thinking about what that word pulse
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: of poetry mean to you. Well, what does that mean
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: to you? And how have poetry been opposed to you?
- 1:10:41Speaker 13: Ms Martine, Hi, sister, Hello Angela, thank you for having
- 1:10:45Speaker 13: me a while.
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: I'm great.
- 1:10:50Speaker 13: I'm great, No complaints, no complaints. So a little bit
- 1:10:54Speaker 13: about me. I am a two time best selling author
- 1:11:00Speaker 13: of poetry. My Phoenix heartbook Barnes and Nobles went best
- 1:11:06Speaker 13: selling in September to twenty twenty three, and then Reflections
- 1:11:10Speaker 13: Rising followed up in March of twenty four. So I've
- 1:11:13Speaker 13: been blessed with those books going best selling and poetry
- 1:11:19Speaker 13: and my new novel, Jiminiakos is coming out in about
- 1:11:23Speaker 13: a week whenever Martin Luther King is I guess the
- 1:11:26Speaker 13: week from now. So the author poet journey has been
- 1:11:30Speaker 13: awesome to me. A little bit of what I do
- 1:11:35Speaker 13: professionally to earn my real money. I am a director
- 1:11:40Speaker 13: of HR so some people like to call me the
- 1:11:43Speaker 13: policy police, but that's what I do. And other than that,
- 1:11:48Speaker 13: I have spent my time trying to develop my connections,
- 1:11:50Speaker 13: which I have developed connections in the poetry community around
- 1:11:54Speaker 13: the DFW and the Texas area and internationally. I have
- 1:11:59Speaker 13: been and on a broadcast a Place to Pause with
- 1:12:03Speaker 13: my poetry that's out of Roschmund in Japan. And then
- 1:12:07Speaker 13: I've been on the International book show in Pe Literature.
- 1:12:13Speaker 13: So that's just a little bit, a little bit about me.
- 1:12:16Speaker 13: You can find me on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook by my name.
- 1:12:22Speaker 13: I don't have a cold name. I haven't been that
- 1:12:25Speaker 13: clever yet. Marcinenenmore or you or you can call me
- 1:12:29Speaker 13: Triple M. So that's just a little bit about me.
- 1:12:32Speaker 13: And I'm in Dallas, Texas.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: So while we have you on the mic post of poetry,
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: what does that mean to you?
- 1:12:43Speaker 13: The post of poetry? It means to me staying involved
- 1:12:51Speaker 13: within the poetry community and letting your words be able
- 1:12:55Speaker 13: to assist and help people, because that's what poetry is.
- 1:12:58Speaker 13: Poetry is about healing in my opinion, because personally, it
- 1:13:06Speaker 13: healed me out of situations right because it may. It
- 1:13:10Speaker 13: made me whole and it helps me continuously to get
- 1:13:14Speaker 13: through to myself and to other people. So that's what
- 1:13:17Speaker 13: I think a post of poetry is. It's continuing that
- 1:13:20Speaker 13: work and spreading your word with different types of poets,
- 1:13:24Speaker 13: because it's all different kinds of poet poets. You have
- 1:13:27Speaker 13: your slams, you have your spoken words, and we are
- 1:13:29Speaker 13: all one family and we help and heal in different ways.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Awesome, awesome, awesome, great take, great take, misdscribe, what does
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: that mean to you? Post of poetry?
- 1:13:44Speaker 11: Well, my postal poetry came at the age of fifty one.
- 1:13:48Speaker 11: I'm now sixty six, so my postal poetry came late
- 1:13:52Speaker 11: in life, and it was just something that I truly
- 1:13:55Speaker 11: believe was a gift from God. The poetry is the
- 1:13:58Speaker 11: poems just poured out of me, and when I had
- 1:14:01Speaker 11: about two hundred of them, didn't know what to do
- 1:14:04Speaker 11: with them. So started posting them on social media and
- 1:14:08Speaker 11: a friend suggested, why don't I put it in book form?
- 1:14:12Speaker 11: And going through that journey has gotten me to publish
- 1:14:16Speaker 11: three books.
- 1:14:17Speaker 10: And I just met someone yesterday. I worked with a
- 1:14:20Speaker 10: group at my church administer justice to help people with
- 1:14:23Speaker 10: legal issues, and the client that I was working with
- 1:14:26Speaker 10: yesterday she has her own publishing company. She's an editor,
- 1:14:31Speaker 10: So I'm looking. I've been looking for a publisher from
- 1:14:34Speaker 10: my fourth book, and God has directed me to her.
- 1:14:38Speaker 10: So we made them that to do that.
- 1:14:40Speaker 11: And I think also with the post.
- 1:14:42Speaker 10: Of poetry, when you want to know what happens historically
- 1:14:47Speaker 10: at different times of our history, read the poets of
- 1:14:50Speaker 10: that time. Boo, Kat Washington, Nikki g. I mean, all
- 1:14:55Speaker 10: these different poets, If you read their work, it'll tell
- 1:14:58Speaker 10: you a little bit of about that particular period of time,
- 1:15:02Speaker 10: which I think is very important. Where we see a
- 1:15:04Speaker 10: lot of our history and things like that is trying
- 1:15:07Speaker 10: to be erased.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: Wow, that's a good point. That's a good point. And
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: I always tell people that what we do as writers
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: in the literary world of being able to put our
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: stuff in pen where they can't do that, where they
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: can't erase our stuff. Because a lot of here and
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: every day there's states that are wanting to take different
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Somebody say they don't want state, don't want to go
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: past two thousand and eight. How you gonna tell us
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: that our history starts in twenty eight? Well, what about
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: the nineteen hundreds, what about what about the eighteen hundreds?
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: What about all that stuff that made us get to
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: two thousand and eight, Like it's we didn't just get
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: to two thousand and eight, So how you gonna erase
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: all of that? So what you said was is very profound.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Definitely need to continue to be able to express and
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: continue to be able to put these things down so
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: that people can get a little piece of us and
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: a little piece of our history and the things that
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: we're doing. You know that that's going to be important
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: for the next generation because they're taking a lot of
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: stuff away, taking a lot of stuff away, and then
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: the way they're doing different stuff, you know, even with
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: the Bible, you know, and that's a whole other topic.
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: That's a whole other topic. But yeah, what you said
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: was very, very needed. So thank you for sharing that perspective.
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: That is an amazing perspective.
- 1:16:35Speaker 9: Ms.
- 1:16:35Speaker 13: Melanie.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: Yes, that phrase post of poetry, what does that speak
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: to you?
- 1:16:47Speaker 6: To me, postal poetry speaks life. In my profession as
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: an educator, I get to encounter students, coworkers that have
- 1:16:59Speaker 6: a lot of things things going on, and a lot
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: of times our students get angry with each other, ends
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: up in a fight or something like that, and it's
- 1:17:07Speaker 6: all because of feelings. So I have taught them to
- 1:17:12Speaker 6: use their words to express how they feel, and they'll
- 1:17:18Speaker 6: get sent to me.
- 1:17:21Speaker 9: And they think it's a punishment.
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: They'll get sent to me and they'll have to instead
- 1:17:26Speaker 6: of being fussed at about the situation they're in, I
- 1:17:29Speaker 6: have them to write about it, and then I have
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: them okay, after they write about it, I asked them
- 1:17:35Speaker 6: to develop it later on, so that we develop it
- 1:17:39Speaker 6: into pieces and stuff like that. Poetry has helped me
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: to be able to, as Martines said, cope with a
- 1:17:47Speaker 6: lot of different things in life. I recently, about a
- 1:17:51Speaker 6: month ago, lost my mom and that has been one
- 1:17:54Speaker 6: of the hardest I'm sorry with driving that. That's been
- 1:17:57Speaker 6: one of the hardest things that I have had to
- 1:18:00Speaker 6: deal with in my life. And I turned to poetry
- 1:18:05Speaker 6: to help me to be able to cope with it.
- 1:18:11Speaker 6: So to me, the post of poetry is just like
- 1:18:14Speaker 6: the book blood running through my bank.
- 1:18:17Speaker 9: It helps me to be able to just live.
- 1:18:21Speaker 6: I use poetry to express the good times, the bad times,
- 1:18:26Speaker 6: the confusing times, just whatever I'm feeling at the moment.
- 1:18:31Speaker 9: Sometimes you can't always talk about it.
- 1:18:34Speaker 6: You may not have someone to talk to, or you
- 1:18:36Speaker 6: may have someone that may not understand it, so I
- 1:18:40Speaker 6: just write it down in poetry. And just like mister
- 1:18:42Speaker 6: Scribeman said, I didn't know I was a poet until
- 1:18:47Speaker 6: a few years ago, and I started just writing poetry
- 1:18:50Speaker 6: and someone said, okay, when you're going to put that
- 1:18:54Speaker 6: in a book so we can read it. So I
- 1:18:58Speaker 6: published my first poetry in two and it was also
- 1:19:05Speaker 6: a bestseller.
- 1:19:07Speaker 9: And since then I have been.
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: Using my poetry in different anthologies.
- 1:19:13Speaker 6: Separate with you, Angela, thank you for that opportunity as
- 1:19:16Speaker 6: well to help others be able to heal through different
- 1:19:22Speaker 6: moments in their life. Also a domestic of youth survivor.
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: So my poetry it addresses many avenues in life that
- 1:19:31Speaker 6: people deal with, but.
- 1:19:32Speaker 9: It's hard to talk to talk about.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: Wow and and and that's what I get from a
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: lot of poets that that is the concisest. You know,
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: it helps them heal through the process. And that was
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: a lot of the young ladies on the last show.
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: You know it has helped them get through. One young
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: lady said that if it was not from poetry, that
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: she may have had a stroke or a heart attack
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: because of all of the stuff that was building up,
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: and it was of releasing, and not only was she
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: able to release, but through her release and other people
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: were able to receive and get their healing. So I
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: think it's so amazing that we can heal and help
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: others heal as we share. That is just amazing, you know.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: And because not all the things that we go through
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: is for us and us having these outlets to be
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: able to get it out and to share and to
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: let other people know, y'all, I'll tell you it's amazing.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: I never thought we was talking on the last show,
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: young lady was sharing how her dad would speak over
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: her and pray over her. Never thought that my pastor,
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: my great grandfather was a pastor. He prayed over us
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: every day. Every time we would see him, he was
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: always praying. I used to say, oh, I didn't want
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: to go over there because we finished gon have church,
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: not knowing that today that was gonna help me because
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: now I host a prayer line every day at five
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: am for five years. It be five years in February
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: that we've been hosting this prayer line at five am.
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: And I look back to him speaking over me and
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: him praying over me. If he had not done that,
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: where would I be so if y'all were not able
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: to express these words and able to share those things
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: that are on the inside of you with people, where
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: would they be? So I thank you guys for being
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: for sharing. I hope you have pieces ready, Melanie. I know,
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: y'a know you always have something, you can do something
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: off the top of your head. But I hope y'all
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: have some pieces ready because I want to hear some
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: pieces from you guys. So I hope y'all got something ready.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: I want to start with mister scribe. I want y'all
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: to share a piece, and then please also make sure
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: you share again how individuals can support the things that
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: you have going on. If you have shows, whatever you
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: got going on, we want them to be able to
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: reach out to touch you guys.
- 1:22:01Speaker 10: Okay, since you picked me first, this is my third
- 1:22:06Speaker 10: Life Between the Words. It's an award winning book, not
- 1:22:09Speaker 10: a number one seller like the two Ladies that I'm on,
- 1:22:11Speaker 10: but I'm expiring to get there one day. It was
- 1:22:14Speaker 10: the International Impact Book Award and I just got awarded
- 1:22:19Speaker 10: this in November. But this is my third book, Life
- 1:22:21Speaker 10: Between the Words.
- 1:22:23Speaker 11: And it's Angela.
- 1:22:24Speaker 10: Melanie, and you talked about this book was healing for
- 1:22:29Speaker 10: me because my mother was diamond cancer Oldzheimer.
- 1:22:33Speaker 11: Then it went to Olzheimer's in dementia.
- 1:22:36Speaker 10: I lost my brother who had an annual riism for
- 1:22:39Speaker 10: complication of diabetes.
- 1:22:41Speaker 11: I had a daughter who.
- 1:22:43Speaker 10: I was estranged from from the time she was like
- 1:22:46Speaker 10: seven till the time she graduated from high school, and
- 1:22:49Speaker 10: I came back into her life and she was tragically killed.
- 1:22:52Speaker 10: So all of these things went into this book. So
- 1:22:56Speaker 10: I'm just gonna pick. I like to do it at random.
- 1:22:58Speaker 10: I don't like to try to figure which one I'm
- 1:23:00Speaker 10: going to read. I just kind of flipped through and
- 1:23:05Speaker 10: pick a piece. This piece is called Why.
- 1:23:09Speaker 11: Why. I never could have dreamed of the chance that
- 1:23:12Speaker 11: I have.
- 1:23:12Speaker 10: Been blessed with with all the things of this world.
- 1:23:16Speaker 10: I can never contemplate it that I would be where
- 1:23:19Speaker 10: I am now. Why years after following for things of
- 1:23:23Speaker 10: this world, I now stand here broken, humbled by the
- 1:23:28Speaker 10: choices that I made and the consequences that followed.
- 1:23:32Speaker 11: Dreams shattered and vision blurred. Why.
- 1:23:36Speaker 10: I don't have many material things, but I know that
- 1:23:40Speaker 10: I am blessed. Over the years, I have come to
- 1:23:43Speaker 10: the realization God is always there. God is always there.
- 1:23:48Speaker 10: I went through years of introspection and self evaluation. Why
- 1:23:54Speaker 10: learned to love myself From there, decided to be transparent
- 1:23:58Speaker 10: as a man and do it. The ridicule of being
- 1:24:02Speaker 10: perceived is weak minded. And then I gave it to
- 1:24:05Speaker 10: the one who knows my heart. Why when I connected
- 1:24:10Speaker 10: with my spiritual side committed myself to truly serving him,
- 1:24:16Speaker 10: my life gained meeting and I discovered happiness again.
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: All right, nice, nice, nice, Ms Marcie. Oh missus scrap.
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: How can we follow support? Reach you?
- 1:24:35Speaker 11: You can?
- 1:24:36Speaker 10: You can follow me on my virtual talk show on
- 1:24:40Speaker 10: Sundays from three to five on Facebook x, Instagram and YouTube,
- 1:24:46Speaker 10: and the name of the show is The Real Level Up,
- 1:24:48Speaker 10: which I co host. If you want to purchase my books,
- 1:24:52Speaker 10: you can purchase them on Amazon, or you can simply
- 1:24:56Speaker 10: learn about me and leave your email address so we
- 1:24:59Speaker 10: can in touch on my website, which is Knowing p
- 1:25:04Speaker 10: Halloween Junior dot com.
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: Amen, Amen, Amen, Ms Martine.
- 1:25:13Speaker 13: Okay, I have actually I have two poems, if that's okay.
- 1:25:19Speaker 13: One is really short and then I have a regular poem.
- 1:25:22Speaker 13: The first poem that I wanted to choose, wanted to
- 1:25:24Speaker 13: write well, that I wrote is on New Year's Day,
- 1:25:27Speaker 13: and it just came to me. So this is the
- 1:25:30Speaker 13: I choose. I choose me, am I selfish, no, because
- 1:25:35Speaker 13: no one knows me better than me. I know my
- 1:25:38Speaker 13: likes and my dislikes. Things that make me hurt cause
- 1:25:43Speaker 13: me pain, and me she her won't let hurt occur
- 1:25:48Speaker 13: because I chose me. When I choose me, I choose happiness, bliss,
- 1:25:55Speaker 13: living in the truth, with no needs to deceive, lie
- 1:25:59Speaker 13: or pretend, because in the end, I'm living with me.
- 1:26:03Speaker 13: I chose me. That was the first poem that I
- 1:26:06Speaker 13: wrote New Year's So my next poem. If anybody knows me,
- 1:26:13Speaker 13: my poems are about relationships. It's called soft and it's
- 1:26:20Speaker 13: it's about It's about relationships when you finally meet that
- 1:26:26Speaker 13: person and they make you soft from both sides. So
- 1:26:30Speaker 13: they have a little music in bolvedo.
- 1:26:34Speaker 11: So let's see, s.
- 1:26:54Speaker 13: See. He said, you are soft, a whisper in the quiet.
- 1:27:01Speaker 13: I love the way you feel in my arms. Your
- 1:27:04Speaker 13: softness stirs a fire within a flame I never knew
- 1:27:09Speaker 13: I possess. See when I see the softness in your face,
- 1:27:14Speaker 13: in the gentleness of your eyes, it makes me want
- 1:27:18Speaker 13: to shield you, to stop all harm from reaching your
- 1:27:22Speaker 13: soft you've poured into me, filled me up with tenderness
- 1:27:27Speaker 13: that overflows. I want to retain what you've given, to
- 1:27:31Speaker 13: be the keeper of your softness and reflected back to
- 1:27:36Speaker 13: you tenfold. For in your softness lies the strength that
- 1:27:42Speaker 13: binds and heals, a silent power. It's in the way
- 1:27:47Speaker 13: you move, the way you speak, the very essence of
- 1:27:52Speaker 13: your being soft yet unyielding, gentle yet profound. So let
- 1:27:59Speaker 13: me be the guardian of all the softness that you are,
- 1:28:04Speaker 13: For you has softened the edges of my soul. And
- 1:28:09Speaker 13: in your embrace I found my home, and she said,
- 1:28:13Speaker 13: She said, you are strong. He is the strength, steadfast
- 1:28:19Speaker 13: and true, the solid rock in life's vast blue, a
- 1:28:24Speaker 13: compliment to my softness. He stands a protector heart with
- 1:28:29Speaker 13: gentle hands, and together we balance like day and night,
- 1:28:35Speaker 13: his strength my softness combined just right in his arms.
- 1:28:42Speaker 13: I find the power so grand, a fortitude that helps
- 1:28:46Speaker 13: me understand that strength isn't just force of mine, but
- 1:28:51Speaker 13: the courage to love and hold me tight, And a
- 1:28:55Speaker 13: softness isn't merely a delicate grace, but the resilien to
- 1:29:01Speaker 13: any obstacle we face. So here we stand hand in hand,
- 1:29:07Speaker 13: strength and softness in a timeless trance. He is my
- 1:29:11Speaker 13: fortress and I am his light together of force that
- 1:29:17Speaker 13: shines so bright, softness and strength, and that's my piece.
- 1:29:26Speaker 13: You can find me as I said on Instagram, TikTok
- 1:29:30Speaker 13: and Facebook under Marsini and more in my link tree,
- 1:29:33Speaker 13: and I do open mics and performances around the DFW
- 1:29:37Speaker 13: area and I'm usually on a TikTok. I go on
- 1:29:42Speaker 13: to show a place to pause, which I said is
- 1:29:44Speaker 13: in she She is out of Heroshima, Japan, so the
- 1:29:49Speaker 13: hours are kind of odd, so it's kind of mid morning,
- 1:29:53Speaker 13: like four am Our time, and she comes on at
- 1:29:59Speaker 13: two pm Central time and three pm Eastern time. So
- 1:30:06Speaker 13: thank you for having me.
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: Awesome, thank you for sharing. And I love that piece.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: That was amazing. That was amazing, Miss Melanie. Are you able,
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: because I know you are traveling, Are you able? You're muted?
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: I can't hear you. If you can't share a piece,
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: if you could just share how we can reach out
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: to you. I can't hear you. I can't hear you.
- 1:30:52Speaker 13: You're muted.
- 1:30:54Speaker 11: Yeah, you're muted.
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: It's say you're but it says you're not muted. But
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: I can't hear you.
- 1:31:01Speaker 11: Does she have a.
- 1:31:03Speaker 10: Yeah, she has a yeah, and we just lost Angela.
- 1:31:11Speaker 9: Yeah, so we're.
- 1:31:14Speaker 13: No, you're back.

- 1:31:17Speaker 14: Yeah, okay, I'm like, oh man oh with all smell.
- 1:31:29Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:31:29Speaker 10: I want to reach out to you as well, but
- 1:31:32Speaker 10: I'll find you because I want to connect with you
- 1:31:34Speaker 10: because I like your work and the things that you're doing.
- 1:31:37Speaker 10: So it's always good for me to add to my
- 1:31:40Speaker 10: poetic family. So would like to reach out. And you
- 1:31:43Speaker 10: left the information just tiktime Instagram. Okay, she's in.

- 1:31:52Speaker 11: Yeah, that was the that was the other anthology. Correct,
- 1:31:55Speaker 11: she's in it.

- 1:32:16Speaker 4: You didn't tell me.
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: I didn't tell ya. I did tell y'all that I
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: told everybody I was in I remember.
- 1:32:24Speaker 11: You was in Union City when you went back and
- 1:32:27Speaker 11: you said you was gonna come back.
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: But I I've been back since August.
- 1:32:31Speaker 11: Oh Okay, my bad.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: I went back since I thought I told you too.
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: I told mister Window, I thought I told you too.
- 1:32:41Speaker 10: Okay, all right, now I know you coming back. But
- 1:32:44Speaker 10: now that I know you're here, got you.
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: I'm here. I'm here, I am here in Union City.
- 1:32:53Speaker 11: Okay.
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: Yeah, we definitely, we definitely gonna connect and get some
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: things going. I definitely appreciate you guys for just allowing
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: your talents to shine and to share. Marcene, I just
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: want to tell you how proud I am of you.
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: I have seen you grow so much just this year
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: that I've known you, I have seen you grow so much,
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: and I am so so proud of you when I
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: tell you.
- 1:33:24Speaker 11: You have truly truly.
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: Blossomed into a a spoken word artist. You have come
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: out of that shyness because you used to be so shy.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: And I love I just love seeing you. I love
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: seeing your posts. I love seeing you them showing me
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: your pictures when you're performing. So I see you, and
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: I'm proud of you. And and you started, you started
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: me on the journey. And hopefully I'll see here this year.
- 1:33:57Speaker 6: Yes A.
- 1:34:00Speaker 9: L A C.
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: Chase your dream. We will be coming back. We're I
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: think we're moving to August this year. We're moving to August.
- 1:34:12Speaker 13: But Carolina too, Rightmber.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: We're gonna, we're gonna, We're gonna do Charleston. We're supposed
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: to do it in March. So I'll keep you posted
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: on that. It's not in Charleston, It'll be here in
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: in the Atlanta area, because that's why I am. Okay, definitely,
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: we'll definitely keep you posted on that. But while I
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: have you guys here and we're in front of the audience,
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: is there anything that you guys would like to share
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: with them, encourage them to go vote for you guys,
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: Anything that y'all have coming up, anything that they know
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: we still got about ten minutes. Anything.
- 1:34:56Speaker 10: Well, My thing is I'm honored to be part of
- 1:35:00Speaker 10: voting for the post of twenty twenty five, and a
- 1:35:03Speaker 10: lot of times, for me, I need the reciprocation of
- 1:35:08Speaker 10: people that have heard my work because it's not about.
- 1:35:12Speaker 11: How many books I saw.
- 1:35:13Speaker 10: It would be nice if I could sew more, but
- 1:35:16Speaker 10: it's more important to me that people resonate and not
- 1:35:20Speaker 10: just like my work. But tell me why? Can you
- 1:35:23Speaker 10: tell me why you don't like it? Can you tell
- 1:35:25Speaker 10: me why you like it? If it's impact you in
- 1:35:27Speaker 10: any way. Those are the things that I need to
- 1:35:31Speaker 10: hear or receive back to give me the creative to
- 1:35:36Speaker 10: basically add to my gift, because I know God has
- 1:35:39Speaker 10: given it to me. There's been times where I couldn't
- 1:35:41Speaker 10: write anything. I went for six months and didn't write
- 1:35:44Speaker 10: a poem at all, couldn't think of a theme, couldn't
- 1:35:47Speaker 10: come up with a title. And a person I reconnected
- 1:35:52Speaker 10: with say, you know what, start journaling and I feel
- 1:35:56Speaker 10: that you're going to be able to recapture or if
- 1:36:00Speaker 10: always there. And all I did was start journaling every day,
- 1:36:03Speaker 10: just jotting down little things that I felt, and boom,
- 1:36:06Speaker 10: the poetry has to come back. I think I've wrote
- 1:36:08Speaker 10: in four or five pieces that are going to be
- 1:36:12Speaker 10: part of my collection for my next book. So I
- 1:36:15Speaker 10: never was discouraged that the gift was gone, because I
- 1:36:19Speaker 10: know it wasn't gone. It was just that it was
- 1:36:21Speaker 10: a different season and I understood that once he gave
- 1:36:25Speaker 10: me the gift, he wasn't gonna take it away. So
- 1:36:27Speaker 10: I want to tell people out there, like Melanie, just
- 1:36:31Speaker 10: been doing it for a little while, you could see
- 1:36:33Speaker 10: how it changes you.
- 1:36:35Speaker 11: Because you're vulnerable. Is a poet. When you write your work,
- 1:36:40Speaker 11: people can pierce through that and you're sharing some of yourself.
- 1:36:45Speaker 11: So people, even though they don't know you, they kind
- 1:36:48Speaker 11: of know you from your words. So that's a big
- 1:36:52Speaker 11: chance that a lot of people that I've met, poets
- 1:36:55Speaker 11: that I've written volumes of work, but are so fearful
- 1:36:59Speaker 11: they want share the words. But the fact that you're
- 1:37:02Speaker 11: here sharing your words in book form and the anthologies
- 1:37:07Speaker 11: shows that you've chosen faith over fear, because a lot
- 1:37:11Speaker 11: of times people don't want to share their innermost I
- 1:37:15Speaker 11: shared it and a piece that I did along in
- 1:37:17Speaker 11: my first book, Recovery. A friend of mine was going
- 1:37:21Speaker 11: through some addiction asked me, gave me the title and
- 1:37:24Speaker 11: say write a piece with the title Recovery. I had
- 1:37:28Speaker 11: to go back to my dark place to write that poem,
- 1:37:32Speaker 11: and it pulls something out of me. But again, going
- 1:37:35Speaker 11: through that made me stronger, made me look back on that.
- 1:37:39Speaker 11: Oh I've made it past that. So if you want
- 1:37:42Speaker 11: to write, write, I mean it could be any type
- 1:37:45Speaker 11: of genre. But poetry, as we know, is an acquired taste.
- 1:37:49Speaker 11: A lot of people don't read poetry.
- 1:37:51Speaker 10: A lot of people are not into They rather read
- 1:37:54Speaker 10: to romance, send them other novels and the sci fi
- 1:37:57Speaker 10: and the horror and all of that. But poetry, I
- 1:38:00Speaker 10: think it's for the soul. And any real poet is
- 1:38:04Speaker 10: gonna pull part of the soul out and put it
- 1:38:07Speaker 10: on paper. And sometimes that's not very easy.
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: It's not, it's not, it is not. I definitely I
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: applaud you guys for all that you do. Definitely, it
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: is not easy. I that when we did Eternal Echoes,
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: I was going through the loss of my brother, and
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: it was, like I shared this on the last podcast,
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: God had already given me those titles, that whole series.
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: He'd already given me the titles and pretty much given
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: me the different sections to those books. Did I know
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: I was gonna lose my brother during that time? But
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: I was able that last book. I was able to
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: dedicate it to my brother because.
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: Of just the.
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: Title and just the different things that you know, God
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: had already put in place. And did I know that
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: that would be the thing that would help me get
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: through losing my brother, that helped me with the grieving
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: process and even losing my cousin on a couple of
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: weeks ago. I mean literally, she was planning, she had
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: planned her sister's birthday party, invited everybody over. Her sister
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: was standing at the door, you know, telling her how
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: pretty her hair was, and she turned to walk away
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: to go meet everybody else, and my cousin just dropped
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: dead right there after. She planned this big old party
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: for everybody.
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: To for her sister's birthday.
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: It was her sister's birthday, and she got everybody to
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: her house for her birthday.
- 1:39:51Speaker 13: Yeah, you know, of course, yeah.
- 1:39:54Speaker 2: You never know. And being able just being able to
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: express God's and dealing with me with words, like I say,
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: words is just for the last five or six years,
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: it's just been words. He takes just one little word
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: and it turns into a book, and it turns into
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: five poems, it turns into just different things. So just
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: being able to express I truly thank you guys. Melanie.
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: I'm glad you're back. If you would, if you could
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: share peace and again, how can individuals connect with you?
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: We can hear you.
- 1:40:35Speaker 6: Have tornado right now, so it's a tornado warning in
- 1:40:39Speaker 6: the area. So that may have been why I got
- 1:40:41Speaker 6: cut off, but I wanted to share this piece I
- 1:40:43Speaker 6: wrote last night, as I said, before my mom passed
- 1:40:47Speaker 6: away about a month ago, and I've been trying to
- 1:40:52Speaker 6: figure out how to deal with brief and this one
- 1:40:54Speaker 6: is entitled brief.
- 1:40:58Speaker 9: Today was another long one.
- 1:41:00Speaker 6: Each day without you tends to be I dread waking
- 1:41:04Speaker 6: up in the mornings and at night sleep can't owe you.
- 1:41:09Speaker 9: I want to tell you some news or just hear
- 1:41:12Speaker 9: your chuckle at something funny. I want to see.
- 1:41:17Speaker 6: Your new project, or make your cash at app Dean
- 1:41:20Speaker 6: with some money, but I can't anymore. I had a
- 1:41:27Speaker 6: thought of you today or was it yesterday, I don't
- 1:41:32Speaker 6: know they have beginning mhm, or at the mention of
- 1:41:54Speaker 6: your name. Life isn't the same without you here. I'm
- 1:42:00Speaker 6: glad you're not suffering. I keep trying to live each day,
- 1:42:07Speaker 6: but my heart just keeps on buffer. Being with the
- 1:42:12Speaker 6: family is how you want it to be, every chance
- 1:42:15Speaker 6: you could get. But now their presence makes me remember
- 1:42:20Speaker 6: a moment I will never get. I want to live
- 1:42:29Speaker 6: that you want, But in art I know you're in
- 1:42:35Speaker 6: a better place, and the presence of the Almighty God,
- 1:42:40Speaker 6: you live the best life that you could.
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: See.
- 1:42:46Speaker 9: I wish that was.
- 1:42:48Speaker 6: More I could have done, but against death I could
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: not guard.
- 1:42:56Speaker 4: This.
- 1:42:57Speaker 9: You are well missed and your.
- 1:43:04Speaker 7: H m hm, well we may have lost her, Angela.
- 1:43:17Speaker 11: Before we go, I want to say something to you.
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: You keep going, You're going because I guess the weather
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: now she's down in Mississippi and the weather is bad,
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: so definitely, I definitely thank her. She's trying.
- 1:43:39Speaker 10: But yeah, I wanted to say to you, Angela. I've
- 1:43:44Speaker 10: known you for a number of years now and seeing
- 1:43:46Speaker 10: where you were a few years ago.
- 1:43:49Speaker 11: You had your prayer line going, you had some other
- 1:43:51Speaker 11: things going.
- 1:43:52Speaker 10: But you know, I follow you all the time and
- 1:43:55Speaker 10: to see how far you've come and the things that
- 1:43:58Speaker 10: you've done, you've done it an amazing job. You went
- 1:44:02Speaker 10: back to school, you was maintaining your different platforms that
- 1:44:06Speaker 10: you was on because when you and I got connected,
- 1:44:08Speaker 10: I was following you ever since then. So even though
- 1:44:11Speaker 10: I may you may see me reach out every now
- 1:44:13Speaker 10: and again, I see what you're doing, and you're doing
- 1:44:16Speaker 10: quite a bit for what God has has called you
- 1:44:19Speaker 10: to do.
- 1:44:20Speaker 11: And that's the thing that inspires me. God gave you
- 1:44:23Speaker 11: something to do, and no matter what's going on with you,
- 1:44:26Speaker 11: you're doing it. So that encourages and motivates and inspires me.
- 1:44:30Speaker 11: So I just want to thank you for what you
- 1:44:33Speaker 11: do well.
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you. Sometimes we need to hear that,
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: so thank you. I just I just want to be
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: the change that I desire to.
- 1:44:45Speaker 11: Make change. I do try.
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: I'm definitely trying to do that.
- 1:44:50Speaker 11: And Georgia, now that I know you permanently and that's.
- 1:44:55Speaker 2: It right then, I'm in Union City.
- 1:44:58Speaker 11: I'm here, Okay, okay, I'm here, so.
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: We definitely can connect. But I thank you guys for
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: coming on and sharing with me on tonight, sharing your poetry,
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: just sharing a little piece of you, because I know
- 1:45:14Speaker 2: it's not easy going before these platforms and pouring and sharing.
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: So thank you, guys. Please make sure that y'all go

- 1:46:10Speaker 15: So I'm for you guys. Yes, sir, I say not love, blessing.

- 1:46:24Speaker 2: Okay, somebody is gonna receive an amazing blessing because it's
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: already it's it's already, it's already aligned for somebody. So
- 1:46:33Speaker 2: somebody's just gonna walk into their destiny and take on
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: the role of the the poetry section of the magazine,
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: in the role of the podcast. So somebody about to
