- 3:02Speaker 4: Cornell will be going taking a look inside of td
- 3:07Speaker 4: C J we is Texas. We're gonna go inside of there.
- 3:12Speaker 4: We've been getting quite a few feet complaints and stuff
- 3:22Speaker 4: about what's going on inside of the prison system over
- 3:27Speaker 4: there in Texas.
- 3:30Speaker 5: But until Cornell call.
- 3:34Speaker 4: And oh and we also also mister Legate will be
- 3:39Speaker 4: joining us as well, because he has some things that
- 3:44Speaker 4: he had to talk about about what's going on where
- 3:48Speaker 4: he's at. He's also in the state of Texas. And
- 3:53Speaker 4: I believe I have one more guest that's going to
- 3:56Speaker 4: join me on tonight.
- 3:59Speaker 5: Mister young mister young.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Was sixteen when he did his committed his crime, and
- 4:10Speaker 4: he has served over forty years inside of Texas State Prison.
- 4:16Speaker 4: He's also going to be joining me on this evening,
- 4:21Speaker 4: but once again, but until they give me a call,
- 4:25Speaker 4: because we all know how the phone systems work in there.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Sometimes they can get a call out, sometimes they jam
- 4:33Speaker 4: the phones. Sometimes it's just it's just hard to get
- 4:39Speaker 4: in touch with you get in touch with us. But
- 4:42Speaker 4: let me tell you about my weekend. So as everyone know,
- 4:52Speaker 4: my husband is currently incarcerated wrongfully in Denver, Colorado.
- 5:00Speaker 5: I had the.
- 5:05Speaker 4: I was able to fly out on Thursday morning for
- 5:11Speaker 4: a special visit to see him. And when I got there,
- 5:16Speaker 4: when I walked off that plane, I couldn't believe it,
- 5:21Speaker 4: it was six degrees six degrees.
- 5:25Speaker 5: It felt like I was insight of a freezer.
- 5:30Speaker 4: But once I got able to got to the prison
- 5:36Speaker 4: where I was able to see him, I felt so
- 5:40Speaker 4: much better, you know, just to see the smile on
- 5:44Speaker 4: his face and it just warmed me up. I was
- 5:48Speaker 4: able to visit him Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so as
- 5:56Speaker 4: long as I was in town, I was able to
- 5:59Speaker 4: go and visit him. Yesterday was a little hard for
- 6:07Speaker 4: the both of us. When it was time to lead.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Usually we look back at each other because we know
- 6:16Speaker 4: I was coming back the next day. But yesterday he
- 6:21Speaker 4: when he walked out, he just he didn't look back.
- 6:26Speaker 4: So that was a little hard.
- 6:30Speaker 5: But it was.
- 6:33Speaker 4: It was enjoyable, enjoyable just to sit there and talk
- 6:37Speaker 4: to him and talk to the other guys that was there.
- 6:44Speaker 4: I mean, just to see them interact with their family
- 6:47Speaker 4: because some of.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Them, by them being.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Like probably about two hours away from their family, they don't.
- 6:58Speaker 5: Get the visits.
- 6:59Speaker 4: And by me being in California, you know, it all
- 7:04Speaker 4: depends on when I'll give vacation.
- 7:07Speaker 5: Time to go over and visit. Why, but I keep
- 7:11Speaker 5: we stay on the.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Phone all day and constantly talk, just keep in touch
- 7:22Speaker 4: with each other. Then this morning I flew back in
- 7:29Speaker 4: and so now I'm at home and I'm here with
- 7:33Speaker 4: you guys, just sitting up here, just waiting.
- 7:40Speaker 5: To call.
- 7:43Speaker 4: But let me tell you what else we got going
- 7:46Speaker 4: on over here at the Crew podcast. If you are
- 7:49Speaker 4: an author, I suggest that you come on and join
- 7:56Speaker 4: the one hundred Arthur movement over here with us where
- 8:01Speaker 4: we over here networking sellings, sharing our brands, you know,
- 8:07Speaker 4: you guys don't want to miss out on an opportunity
- 8:10Speaker 4: to you know, share your brand. And then as we
- 8:14Speaker 4: also annoyed, you know, it's hard to come find black authors,
- 8:24Speaker 4: and me being connected with Angela, she had wide mind.
- 8:34Speaker 4: I got my perspective, and there's a lot of arthurs
- 8:39Speaker 4: out there. There's a lot of good arthurs out.
- 8:41Speaker 2: There, prepaid, accuse or an a thunder, prepaid. Thank you
- 8:45Speaker 2: for using and got the conversation.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Now.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Well, Hello Cordell, Hello, ma'am, how are you doing tonight?
- 8:54Speaker 5: I am doing good.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I was just sitting up here for the last six
- 8:57Speaker 4: minutes just mbling on, and I know everybody was probably
- 9:01Speaker 4: was waiting to hear from Cornell. So how have you
- 9:05Speaker 4: been doing, Cornell, ma'am?
- 9:09Speaker 2: I'm doing great tonight them and I'm alive and thank god,
- 9:13Speaker 2: I'm way yes, ma'am, And tonight like the beautiful.
- 9:19Speaker 5: Man and you and I'm doing one wonderful as you.
- 9:23Speaker 5: I was just telling them.
- 9:24Speaker 4: I just flew back in from Denver from seeing Juan,
- 9:28Speaker 4: so I am back and I'm ready to get you know,
- 9:33Speaker 4: let's get this work that.
- 9:36Speaker 5: Keep keep continuously being a voice for the ones that
- 9:40Speaker 5: doesn't have a voice. We was waiting on mister Legate
- 9:44Speaker 5: to come in, but mister Legate haven't called yet. I
- 9:48Speaker 5: know that when I talked to mister Legate last week,
- 9:53Speaker 5: he was telling me that a situation was.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Going on over there where he's at, where the the
- 10:05Speaker 4: CEOs is really not doing their jobs. That since there's
- 10:09Speaker 4: a lot of drugs coming in there, and that the
- 10:12Speaker 4: men's is caught with drugs, they expect for the other
- 10:16Speaker 4: inmates to discipline them.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You know.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Yeah, So he been over there dealing with that. They've
- 10:27Speaker 4: basically been on lockdown, and and he wanted to come
- 10:33Speaker 4: on and he wanted to share about, you know, what
- 10:37Speaker 4: was going on over there where he's at. But I
- 10:44Speaker 4: just wanted to go ahead. Let me go ahead and
- 10:46Speaker 4: just read this right quick. Texas have over one hundred
- 10:51Speaker 4: and four prisons, that's including state, federal, private, and juvenile facilities.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Texas is the largest runs the largest prison system, second
- 11:11Speaker 4: it to California. So California is you know, California and
- 11:17Speaker 4: Texas is running neck and neck. They also Texas also
- 11:24Speaker 4: house one hundred and thirty four thousand and sixty six
- 11:33Speaker 4: sixty six prisoners at their facilities and California house more
- 11:41Speaker 4: so those are the two top states that have more
- 11:47Speaker 4: prisons and they also house more.
- 11:53Speaker 5: Offenders.
- 11:55Speaker 4: Let's see, Texas have eighteen prisons and let me see,
- 12:06Speaker 4: and they have they employed thirty six thousand. They have
- 12:11Speaker 4: thirty six thousand employees running their facilities. But right now,
- 12:18Speaker 4: me and Cortnell, we're gonna bring you up to bring
- 12:24Speaker 4: you guys up to date because, as you guys know it,
- 12:27Speaker 4: Cornell had made parole and we're just waiting for Cornell
- 12:33Speaker 4: to them doors to open up for him, but they
- 12:36Speaker 4: have transferred him to demingus unit. So I'm gonna let
- 12:41Speaker 4: Cornell go ahead and fill you guys in on that.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Well, yes, ma'am, thanks you very much. Yess'am. I have
- 12:48Speaker 2: abol and I have to truansfer to the division. Guess
- 12:50Speaker 2: they facility that they call this a rehabilitation program. And
- 12:56Speaker 2: just being here, you're known, I have learned a lot
- 12:59Speaker 2: about you know, being ready back into society, even though
- 13:03Speaker 2: it's not the best program in the world. Steal some
- 13:06Speaker 2: new information to learn, man, Okay, And like I said,
- 13:09Speaker 2: since been here, from what I have already been the
- 13:12Speaker 2: negative who which is the true podcast? And let's talk
- 13:15Speaker 2: about it and the platform that you guys have you know,
- 13:18Speaker 2: I have been a positives who wants over here with
- 13:21Speaker 2: you guys, and they guys who love me, okay, and
- 13:24Speaker 2: they respect me for who I am because you know,
- 13:26Speaker 2: like you say, we know advocates for criminal justice reforming.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Not only that we speak on behalf of everybody. So
- 13:32Speaker 2: you know they love me over here. So with that
- 13:34Speaker 2: being said, ma'am, I'm doing all right. Uh, yes, ma'am,
- 13:37Speaker 2: So tonight's still basically we're gonna be talking about we
- 13:41Speaker 2: were a versus a stale Federals class action civil lawsuit
- 13:46Speaker 2: that transformed the prism uh letigation reforms uh uh, the
- 13:51Speaker 2: Texas Reform Legations Act. Okay. And basically, as he was
- 13:56Speaker 2: just identifying, ma'am, the number of prisons that we had
- 14:00Speaker 2: to day was not the number of prisons we started.
- 14:03Speaker 5: Out with, right, okay.
- 14:05Speaker 2: And Texas started out with twelve prison systems from nineteen
- 14:09Speaker 2: seventy six up until nineteen seventy nine or seventy eight okay,
- 14:15Speaker 2: and then they went on to include a couple more
- 14:19Speaker 2: power facilities. Okay. In nineteen ninety one ninety two they
- 14:25Speaker 2: came in to start build up prison and this spot.
- 14:30Speaker 2: They now have a number of prisons. Just have identified
- 14:33Speaker 2: it now, Okay, But tonight it showed basically not to say,
- 14:37Speaker 2: we're gonna be talking about you red versus Sales stipulation
- 14:40Speaker 2: case and your opinion. Man, do you have anything they
- 14:44Speaker 2: questions you may want to ask about it before I
- 14:46Speaker 2: get started.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Well, I just wanted to know basically, you gave me
- 14:50Speaker 4: a little brief. Did we talked a little bit about it.
- 14:58Speaker 4: You know, couldn't I really didn't read the the the
- 15:05Speaker 4: case because I had mid turns and I did pass
- 15:10Speaker 4: my mid terms. I did pass my mid turn so
- 15:14Speaker 4: we got that out the way, and then by me
- 15:17Speaker 4: flying to Denver, so I wasn't really I didn't really
- 15:23Speaker 4: put the work in to read the case. And then
- 15:26Speaker 4: I had, you know, other the men's was calling me
- 15:29Speaker 4: check it in and you know, letting me know what
- 15:31Speaker 4: was going.
- 15:32Speaker 2: On with them. So you know, just.
- 15:36Speaker 5: Right, just let us know about the about the case.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Okay, Okay.
- 15:43Speaker 6: Now, when I come to prison nineteen seventy eight.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Nineteen seventy when we came to put my prison system
- 15:48Speaker 2: was basically at the law that you could system. My
- 15:53Speaker 2: prison conditions was the hole for most the great couldn't
- 15:57Speaker 2: uh conditions that anybody could live in. And back then
- 16:01Speaker 2: we had you know, American City if the unions and
- 16:04Speaker 2: different organizations being allowed to come in and check on
- 16:06Speaker 2: inmates and you know, stuff like that to see what
- 16:09Speaker 2: the prisoner was life. But still a lot of things
- 16:12Speaker 2: are not being you know, okay, our medical departments, they
- 16:16Speaker 2: were basically not running to the capacity that they needed
- 16:19Speaker 2: to provide people with the proper medical cation commedia.
- 16:23Speaker 6: Okay.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Inmates were saying the highest rate of expend because of
- 16:27Speaker 2: team related incidents and you know, not the Giffer prop
- 16:30Speaker 2: of medical assistance, and you know, indigent was being shot
- 16:34Speaker 2: up to different types of medications that were not suitable
- 16:38Speaker 2: for them and they were dying from that. And then
- 16:41Speaker 2: not only that, back then was like you know, because
- 16:45Speaker 2: of over crowding. Process was saying there was three inmates
- 16:49Speaker 2: could sales, okay, and when three inmates to sale, they
- 16:53Speaker 2: were so overcrowded back then that in nineteen seventy two
- 16:57Speaker 2: were in all the class action about the condition.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Hold on, hold on, Cornell. We got we we got
- 17:09Speaker 4: a visitor just stepped in. Our our good friend, mister
- 17:16Speaker 4: James Legate has joined us.
- 17:20Speaker 5: Okay, mister Legate.
- 17:23Speaker 6: Forgive Hello, Hello, Hello, forgiving for coming party, but I
- 17:29Speaker 6: didn't have the calls to this Holle. It's not recognizing
- 17:32Speaker 6: my voice for whatever.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Reason, you know what, mister Legate. That's okay. Cornell's told
- 17:38Speaker 4: me that yesterday when he did, I believe it was yesterday.
- 17:42Speaker 4: I talked to Cornell. He said that it wasn't the
- 17:46Speaker 4: phone wasn't recognizing his voice as well. But you know,
- 17:49Speaker 4: I did explain to our listeners that you know, sometimes
- 17:55Speaker 4: it's hard for you guys to get through to us.
- 17:57Speaker 5: But that's okay. We're still going to push it. We're
- 18:00Speaker 5: gonna still make it go through.
- 18:01Speaker 4: And I gave him a little background of what was
- 18:04Speaker 4: going on with over there were the facility that you located,
- 18:10Speaker 4: and Cornell was giving us a little background on the case.
- 18:14Speaker 5: So now we all caught up.
- 18:17Speaker 2: And so.
- 18:19Speaker 4: Again, mister Legate, I'm gonna go ahead and you introduce
- 18:23Speaker 4: yourself and then we're gonna jump right back into the case.
- 18:28Speaker 6: Hello, okay, thank you forget me for being made and hello,
- 18:32Speaker 6: my name is James le Gay. I'm not a common unit.
- 18:35Speaker 6: It be threes and I'm glad to be here. Thank
- 18:37Speaker 6: you for having me.
- 18:38Speaker 7: Shun you doing drum?
- 18:42Speaker 2: Okay, sir, how you're doing at all?
- 18:43Speaker 6: Back, ok great, great man, I'm back here too.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Hello, Hello, okay, Okay, Well I was plainer to the audience.
- 18:54Speaker 2: So the ruin persons, the sale stipulation of prison litigation
- 19:00Speaker 2: informed that right, and I was basically saying that that's
- 19:02Speaker 2: throughware that Bible class actions civil laws to because of
- 19:05Speaker 2: the conditions that inmates were being pursed upon them, these
- 19:09Speaker 2: conditions that vib laid us of eight Amendment rights of
- 19:11Speaker 2: inmates because we were being denied proper medical assistance, were overpowdered,
- 19:17Speaker 2: people were sleeping on braors, people were sweeping under the box,
- 19:19Speaker 2: and you know, our facilities were just degrading, and the
- 19:23Speaker 2: State of Texas was not putting enough money into the
- 19:25Speaker 2: prison system in order to aliviate the problems. So the
- 19:29Speaker 2: class action litigations actor was only designed to release the
- 19:32Speaker 2: op problem of inmates. Okay, back then there was that
- 19:35Speaker 2: ninety five percent capacity. So what happened then when you
- 19:39Speaker 2: got the ninety four percent capacity, that all the prison
- 19:43Speaker 2: systems had to be shut down, and that was forcing
- 19:46Speaker 2: them to at least all of the inmates who were
- 19:48Speaker 2: overcoming a bill right back up, So the prison litigations
- 19:53Speaker 2: that it only allowed them to be able to come
- 19:56Speaker 2: from federal guidelines to state guidelines. And when they've done that,
- 20:01Speaker 2: the safe guidelines have allowed them to shine around and
- 20:04Speaker 2: rebuild more prison systems. So now the prison's capacity of
- 20:08Speaker 2: that one hundred and fifty percent capensity. So being that
- 20:12Speaker 2: they have fill up more prisons and have build these
- 20:14Speaker 2: prisoners up, they are trying to get away from the
- 20:17Speaker 2: idea of claiming to be overcrowded. But our prison conditions
- 20:22Speaker 2: are just as messed up to dating as they were
- 20:24Speaker 2: back then, because the toilets don't work, the toilets are
- 20:27Speaker 2: over blood, the shower but don't work, the sinks don't work,
- 20:30Speaker 2: the water's contaminated and made the diamond from all different
- 20:34Speaker 2: types of bacteriava in the water and catching all punds
- 20:37Speaker 2: of diseases and stuff like this. So now because our
- 20:40Speaker 2: state residences are responsible for the fundings that's being provided
- 20:44Speaker 2: to the prison system, they are lagging on their jobs
- 20:47Speaker 2: now because they're not doing anything to be able to
- 20:51Speaker 2: put the funder their prison system that's needed.
- 20:54Speaker 5: Yeah, and you know, you know we're.
- 20:56Speaker 4: At and you know I believe I talked to both
- 20:59Speaker 4: you and mister Legate. Well when you got to Dominica.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Was telling us that they was washing the trays in
- 21:11Speaker 4: trash camps and that you guys didn't have no hot water.
- 21:15Speaker 4: They didn't have no hot water where they can just
- 21:18Speaker 4: wash the trays. They was just dipping the trays and
- 21:21Speaker 4: water that has a little bleach in it. I believe
- 21:23Speaker 4: that's what one of the guys had told me. That's
- 21:26Speaker 4: how they was cleaning the trays. Mister Legate, can you
- 21:30Speaker 4: let us.
- 21:30Speaker 5: Know what's going on with over there with at the
- 21:35Speaker 5: facility that you're at.
- 21:38Speaker 6: Right well, you know, uh interview a little stuff that
- 21:41Speaker 6: uh that was talking about. It's true about the dishwashing
- 21:46Speaker 6: that we have the stamp out of here. The dishwashers
- 21:48Speaker 6: don't work period, all right, So what they do is
- 21:51Speaker 6: they gotta busly supposed to have bleaching, but you know
- 21:54Speaker 6: nine disappears socause you want to rinchet it up with
- 21:58Speaker 6: the with the with the water sure and just having
- 22:01Speaker 6: out drinks like that that continues to go on now
- 22:05Speaker 6: and doing the res balls who started back in dn't
- 22:08Speaker 6: that many hunits. They were talking to me about twenty
- 22:10Speaker 6: four thousand, five hundred and seventy five inmates total system.
- 22:14Speaker 6: Four percent of that helper were females, but there was
- 22:18Speaker 6: still female units and there was sixteen male units. Now
- 22:23Speaker 6: within the years of the time because of the building tenders,
- 22:26Speaker 6: the lack of fermy and psych medication, of psycho evaluations,
- 22:32Speaker 6: dealing with the unconditional conditions of the confinement. That's what
- 22:36Speaker 6: David Reis and several other offenders built into a class
- 22:39Speaker 6: action against GDC J, which was supposed to be so
- 22:44Speaker 6: that's over thirty years, it wasn't. A team of maybe
- 22:46Speaker 6: two thousand and one GDC finally said hey, you know,
- 22:49Speaker 6: let us call We're going to keep up the weeds
- 22:52Speaker 6: and we're never going to violate these stipulations. That's a
- 22:56Speaker 6: lie because within time that you.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Could see it's a really been violated now here in
- 23:01Speaker 2: the unit. It became system wise, it doune the tablet.
- 23:04Speaker 6: I know, no cornpo reddit about any time an offender
- 23:09Speaker 6: is caught with either either on drugs or whatever, you know,
- 23:12Speaker 6: any kind of contraband, they're gonna lock down that unit,
- 23:15Speaker 6: that section of the of the prisons for fifteen days.
- 23:18Speaker 6: They're gonna puish everybody for one bad apple. So what
- 23:21Speaker 6: they're doing is they're taking away your TV, they're taking
- 23:24Speaker 6: away your commisary. They're taking away your phone calls, your vegetations.
- 23:28Speaker 6: And this is creating a problem because in the nutshell,
- 23:32Speaker 6: they're trying to say, hey, well, look, we need to
- 23:34Speaker 6: stop all these people time, we need to stop drugs
- 23:37Speaker 6: going on. So what we're gonna do is just to
- 23:41Speaker 6: take care of it, even though they're not perfectly saying it.
- 23:44Speaker 6: When you're punishing another inmate for what another inmate does,
- 23:49Speaker 6: you deprivate in all forms of new process through the
- 23:53Speaker 6: mechanism of displinary, all right, and they made this part
- 23:56Speaker 6: of Ulie stipulations.
- 23:58Speaker 2: And so what.
- 23:59Speaker 6: Happens now and create the problem with these officers because
- 24:02Speaker 6: now my mother, my grandfather or anybody, my wife, my kids,
- 24:05Speaker 6: they're all going to come visit me. Some guy clucks up,
- 24:08Speaker 6: and now I can give my visit because this guy
- 24:10Speaker 6: is so of course, because you made him up for
- 24:14Speaker 6: whatever the scenariood. But what's also going to happen is
- 24:20Speaker 6: that in Germany can help them too, and if another
- 24:24Speaker 6: offender wants to, he can actually press charges on it.
- 24:27Speaker 6: And so now you're going to have an assault charge
- 24:29Speaker 6: and it's going to be a stack sentence. Now TDTT
- 24:32Speaker 6: is going to say no, we're not including that. We're
- 24:34Speaker 6: not we're not condoning that type of action. But if
- 24:37Speaker 6: people look at it, they really are. It actually violates
- 24:42Speaker 6: their whole policy. They got an ADS eighty three oh
- 24:46Speaker 6: two on the Administrative Directive Writers and Provisible Health under content.
- 24:51Speaker 6: In other words, it says contender shall not convey the
- 24:55Speaker 6: orders or instructions from staff from a staff member to
- 24:58Speaker 6: another offender. Okay, now this is what they're trying to say. No,
- 25:01Speaker 6: they're doing drunk because it's bad. So their vibration right there,
- 25:05Speaker 6: it says recommend actions for a guiness, for own a kid,
- 25:08Speaker 6: any privilege to another offender. Well, you're telling them, Look,
- 25:12Speaker 6: it's if you continue this, we're gonna beat you up
- 25:15Speaker 6: because now you're taking away my privilege. You see, TDH
- 25:20Speaker 6: has this policy what they're doing, and it's Bronan Caller
- 25:24Speaker 6: who with the director of GDCJ, they implemented this policy.
- 25:27Speaker 6: In other words, all the orders got together. What the
- 25:30Speaker 6: directors are saying, Look, you got a fake drug problem
- 25:32Speaker 6: in the system that's causing a lot of deaths. So
- 25:35Speaker 6: when you call us all these vants, what happens? They
- 25:38Speaker 6: don't have no justification. They try to say, well, with
- 25:40Speaker 6: the cardiac cares whatever it was there, it was that. Well, actually,
- 25:44Speaker 6: if people were wise, if they were going to have
- 25:47Speaker 6: their sons or daughter or whatever have an octop feeling
- 25:51Speaker 6: and put out, why did they pay? Because yes, K
- 25:53Speaker 6: two cause cardiac ris But.
- 25:56Speaker 2: If they're you young, why they died? They shouldn't have
- 25:59Speaker 2: to that like this. They're just they're drug addicts and
- 26:02Speaker 2: a lot of people. I got admit, there's a lot.
- 26:03Speaker 6: Of people that are drug addicts in this penitentiary. And
- 26:06Speaker 6: I'm not talking about just you. This year, they a
- 26:09Speaker 6: copy system wide. You see what I'm saying. But now
- 26:12Speaker 6: now comes to question who's giving them the drugs? If
- 26:16Speaker 6: they know that these drug addicts and that people are
- 26:18Speaker 6: going to get punished for what these drug addicts do,
- 26:21Speaker 6: all right, they need to also consider it for who's
- 26:24Speaker 6: supplying it.
- 26:25Speaker 2: If you're giving it to this person.
- 26:26Speaker 6: Knowing that he's a drug addgnoring that he made me
- 26:28Speaker 6: cause this problem, well they're contributing to this factory, which
- 26:32Speaker 6: is really a sad, sad situation because who's right and
- 26:36Speaker 6: who's what. I can't tell another man how to do
- 26:39Speaker 6: his time.
- 26:40Speaker 2: I cannot do that, And.
- 26:46Speaker 5: So I believe I believe talking.
- 26:50Speaker 2: About second job. Okay, okay, I'm going up the line
- 26:54Speaker 2: that I gave him and has spend more money on
- 26:56Speaker 2: the boarder than he has the technics crement systems. Now, okay,
- 27:00Speaker 2: these individuals that's now enforsumated in the legacy processes, they
- 27:04Speaker 2: have taken rehabilitation out of our systems. So now these
- 27:08Speaker 2: people don't have no incentitives in order to do better.
- 27:12Speaker 2: They claim that these little programs that they do have
- 27:14Speaker 2: are classifier the rehabilitated programs, but they don't have the
- 27:18Speaker 2: staff and the resources in order to provide these can't
- 27:21Speaker 2: put the resources that they need in order to reabilitate
- 27:23Speaker 2: back into the facts. So what they're doing they make
- 27:27Speaker 2: up people, make ship programs, classifiers EMPTC, which is management
- 27:32Speaker 2: training corporation programs, and they sticking these inmates and these
- 27:36Speaker 2: programs as an angle management in an A and A
- 27:39Speaker 2: program and they don't have nothing to provide these individuals
- 27:42Speaker 2: just to allow them to get up and speak for
- 27:44Speaker 2: five minutes and that's it for the curriculum that's backdated
- 27:48Speaker 2: to the last twenty years ago, and that's it. So
- 27:52Speaker 2: now these Unians they'll have nothing to hold on to
- 27:54Speaker 2: man so what do they do. They forced to turn
- 27:57Speaker 2: the drugs, They force turn the box, they force the amounting.
- 28:01Speaker 2: That's the negative because they don't have nothing here in
- 28:04Speaker 2: the system that's helping them to recintegrate back into the
- 28:07Speaker 2: pot the drugs.
- 28:09Speaker 5: Man, So you know what else can they do?
- 28:12Speaker 4: My my question is this, how is the drugs getting
- 28:21Speaker 4: in there? At the at the visitors that's coming in
- 28:25Speaker 4: there are being searched in everything, how how you know,
- 28:31Speaker 4: how's the how's it getting in there?
- 28:37Speaker 2: Well?
- 28:38Speaker 6: I believe, I mean, I believe, I believe that some
- 28:44Speaker 6: of the staff have a have a contributation of that.
- 28:47Speaker 6: That's just why they were supposed to pass out the
- 28:50Speaker 6: body camps uh January. In fact, they were supposed to
- 28:53Speaker 6: pass them out before that, but they didn't change to January.
- 28:56Speaker 6: And they still have this other because they go for
- 28:59Speaker 6: one the the officers quit and they already go that.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Man, if I were there's money camp, they're gonna.
- 29:04Speaker 6: See everything I do.
- 29:05Speaker 2: So that's gonna put them in a spot instead A
- 29:11Speaker 2: pretty to to. I believe it was the Sunset Committee.
- 29:14Speaker 6: They had a they had a n open session on YouTube,
- 29:18Speaker 6: I believe it was, and they were talking.
- 29:20Speaker 2: About about there there are six thousand jobs.
- 29:23Speaker 6: Opening right now, and they recommend it to close some
- 29:27Speaker 6: units so they can staff them. And if they did
- 29:29Speaker 6: staff them, they can have an officer they said back
- 29:33Speaker 6: for around each on each pod and whatever to their job.
- 29:38Speaker 2: But they don't do this, they don't have none. Said
- 29:40Speaker 2: that they expect a fighter to do that for them.
- 29:43Speaker 2: He will see. So what happens is it was I believe.
- 29:46Speaker 6: They would be some contributation because.
- 29:48Speaker 2: There's a lot of people that are pretty.
- 29:50Speaker 6: Uh upticking it and how they do maybe how they
- 29:52Speaker 6: smuggle stuff or whatever. But I believe that the most
- 29:55Speaker 6: because everything's on paid for now and it's hard for
- 29:58Speaker 6: us to be because we can get no paper no more.
- 30:01Speaker 6: You know, our letters have to go straight to Dallas
- 30:04Speaker 6: and it goes to a mail system processing cate. We
- 30:07Speaker 6: get it on our tablets, don't email. We get actually
- 30:11Speaker 6: it's either from a modified approved in a Bible class
- 30:15Speaker 6: or Bible study place or or or your lawyer.
- 30:18Speaker 2: So so taking that into consideration, you try.
- 30:22Speaker 6: To blow it down to one of the most obvious
- 30:26Speaker 6: or the most.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Successful way to be bringing it in.
- 30:30Speaker 6: You see, I see people coming in every day every day,
- 30:32Speaker 6: every day and taking you know, all of a sudden,
- 30:34Speaker 6: it pops up, It pops up, It pops us and
- 30:36Speaker 6: pops up.
- 30:37Speaker 2: So I mean, and that's my opinion. Do I have proof?
- 30:40Speaker 6: No, And I'm not going to say I do because
- 30:42Speaker 6: I know, But do I believe this? If they do,
- 30:45Speaker 6: that's my that's my opinion. And uh, because I know
- 30:49Speaker 6: that they got so many cameras can be in the
- 30:52Speaker 6: visitation that if they do catch somebody, they may catch
- 30:56Speaker 6: make me want or to do something, you see what
- 30:58Speaker 6: I'm saying. But nine time such a thing, I believe
- 31:01Speaker 6: it's it's it's the officer's.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Bringing it in.
- 31:04Speaker 4: And you know, and fentanyl is such a potent drug.
- 31:07Speaker 4: You know from what I understand that that you can
- 31:11Speaker 4: just smell it or touch it and you know, you
- 31:14Speaker 4: go down and you know that I wouldn't understand how
- 31:19Speaker 4: a visitor will be bringing fentanyl in or or even
- 31:25Speaker 4: heron I heard, well one of the mothers have posted
- 31:30Speaker 4: on a group that they had shut down a unit
- 31:36Speaker 4: because someone had hairon in there.
- 31:41Speaker 6: Right right, it's like that, but you know a lot
- 31:44Speaker 6: of a lot of people can ate like Mcalma unit
- 31:47Speaker 6: has a family and friends white website on right and
- 31:52Speaker 6: right there a lot of family and friends of the
- 31:54Speaker 6: presidents of Facebook actually you know and have family or
- 31:58Speaker 6: the Union Ocama unit actually talk about a lot of
- 32:01Speaker 6: stuff that's going on in here. So that people don't
- 32:04Speaker 6: believe it. They can either go out there and just
- 32:07Speaker 6: google Accona to see everything that's going on. They're also
- 32:15Speaker 6: because a lot of these family that I hear because
- 32:17Speaker 6: I don't ever have access to it, or nobody tells me.
- 32:19Speaker 6: But the people who do, they do tell me that
- 32:22Speaker 6: that is what they talked about. They we're talking about
- 32:24Speaker 6: it's a new policy that they just implemented, and saying
- 32:28Speaker 6: how wrong it is. But it's hard for anybody to
- 32:31Speaker 6: do anything about it.
- 32:32Speaker 2: What can we do?
- 32:33Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, I can. I can tell a grievance
- 32:35Speaker 6: and say, hey, look you buy an agent under that's
- 32:37Speaker 6: just constitution. We're the only ones that just had the
- 32:40Speaker 6: privilege concluded in their work. It's not included in the
- 32:43Speaker 6: United States Constitution. But with all my actuality, everything that
- 32:47Speaker 6: I've earned, my being, doing my time in a positive way, right,
- 32:50Speaker 6: I earned that privilege. So if you take away my privilege,
- 32:54Speaker 6: you have to give me due course of law. In
- 32:56Speaker 6: other words, give me the pace. Tell me what I'm
- 32:59Speaker 6: being punished for and so forth and so forth. They
- 33:02Speaker 6: don't do this, they do anybody. Now they're punishing everybody
- 33:06Speaker 6: for somebody else selections. And to me, it's a constitutional
- 33:10Speaker 6: But what can we say, what can we do what prisoners?
- 33:13Speaker 6: It takes people like anybody out there if they want
- 33:16Speaker 6: to like maybe they got to considers. Hey, do you
- 33:18Speaker 6: know what I got to use media? I'd like to
- 33:20Speaker 6: know what's going on with the coming or with TVC
- 33:23Speaker 6: with bronn in coffin. Why did he give one.
- 33:25Speaker 2: That this policy in the first place?
- 33:27Speaker 6: You know, because some people are gonna get beat up.
- 33:29Speaker 6: Some people are going to get they got to catch out.
- 33:32Speaker 6: In other words, they're gonna force him to move out
- 33:34Speaker 6: of that section or whatever, because it's already has to
- 33:37Speaker 6: go over here. That some guy got caught up with
- 33:39Speaker 6: something and they ran him out and he goes to another door.
- 33:42Speaker 6: I don't know, you can't get over here. Come on,
- 33:43Speaker 6: get out of here. If the prisoners are running those doors,
- 33:46Speaker 6: stuff and keep in the administration. If there's allowing other.
- 33:51Speaker 2: To do this so we go to some other section
- 33:53Speaker 2: of the building. You gotta do this wrong.
- 33:57Speaker 6: And putting them in one sition of the of the
- 34:00Speaker 6: unit in a cousing together.
- 34:03Speaker 4: The problems, right, I think Cornell want to jump in Cornell, Well, yes, ma'am.
- 34:09Speaker 2: See, that's a system that's been going on for years,
- 34:12Speaker 2: maw where they try to punish. It's called the corporal punishment.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Corporal punishment is a punishment that if one man may
- 34:18Speaker 2: do something, we're gonna punish everybody so that demparadizes the
- 34:21Speaker 2: life that individual. While because if some guy feel like
- 34:24Speaker 2: he needs to be punished.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Their do that.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Okay, But what's going on right now?
- 34:28Speaker 5: Man?
- 34:28Speaker 2: You know it's gonna be hard to time a lot
- 34:30Speaker 2: of this stuff that's going on until we can get
- 34:32Speaker 2: our families involved in this and have our families go
- 34:36Speaker 2: ahead and put the pressure on the state representatives and
- 34:39Speaker 2: need take the senators now, and our detective governments now,
- 34:43Speaker 2: and the force deep and these advocacy groups who's claiming
- 34:46Speaker 2: about crying of our criminal justice reform. This in this
- 34:49Speaker 2: text of in the Families Association and the Texas Prism
- 34:53Speaker 2: alliances and all of these individuals will claim in criminal
- 34:56Speaker 2: justice reform. We need pressure on these individuals from our
- 34:59Speaker 2: family in order to get these people do their job
- 35:04Speaker 2: to create got the medical assistant to create douttle programs
- 35:08Speaker 2: for these individual kids up and have to be able
- 35:10Speaker 2: to integrate back into society to.
- 35:12Speaker 5: Get the two that they need.
- 35:14Speaker 2: And this is what we do need, man, because we're
- 35:16Speaker 2: not gonna stop drugs from coming in and at these
- 35:18Speaker 2: alsos are the ones were running in ringing in right,
- 35:23Speaker 2: So what do we do? We have to put pressure
- 35:26Speaker 2: on our representatives through a paying the bills. These are
- 35:29Speaker 2: the ones put the funds for the but you know,
- 35:32Speaker 2: like how to get involved.
- 35:34Speaker 5: Like you know, like we be.
- 35:37Speaker 4: Talking Cordnal and mister Legable and we be talking also
- 35:41Speaker 4: and you know, and I tell you guys, what was
- 35:44Speaker 4: personally to me.
- 35:47Speaker 5: I believe that.
- 35:50Speaker 4: With with this new administrator, that's that's in the office
- 35:55Speaker 4: right now, that's taken everybody focuses on what are the
- 36:01Speaker 4: what they're doing?
- 36:03Speaker 5: What what are they doing?
- 36:04Speaker 4: They taken off they whatever they was applicant applicating for.
- 36:10Speaker 4: They don'e took the focus off of that and they
- 36:12Speaker 4: don't put it over here on number forty seven. See
- 36:16Speaker 4: what he you know, all he's doing on is he's
- 36:19Speaker 4: doing that. Let's stop worrying about what he's doing. Okay, Yes,
- 36:22Speaker 4: we understand that you know what he's doing. He's he's
- 36:26Speaker 4: running them unk, that's what he's doing. Were putting our
- 36:31Speaker 4: we're taking our our focus off what the big picture
- 36:35Speaker 4: is and putting it over here on this when he's
- 36:38Speaker 4: gonna do whatever he's going to what he's what he's
- 36:41Speaker 4: going to do. You know that's why I you know,
- 36:44Speaker 4: when you said that athlete the I talked to some
- 36:49Speaker 4: of them and that their focus is not right here
- 36:57Speaker 4: with the men and women that's currently serving time on
- 37:01Speaker 4: rocal conviction over a sentence. And I reached out to
- 37:06Speaker 4: some of the applicants over there in Texas and I
- 37:09Speaker 4: told them, you know, you guys got James Legate there.
- 37:14Speaker 4: You guys haven't even talked to them. You know, i'd
- 37:16Speaker 4: be going on the prison show, so you know, and
- 37:21Speaker 4: I and I put you guys name out.
- 37:23Speaker 5: There, and I get a message backward like how do
- 37:29Speaker 5: you talk to them? Like they called me?
- 37:36Speaker 2: Yeah, they want to know how we're talking to talk. Yeah,
- 37:39Speaker 2: that's that's that they want to know that. Now they're
- 37:42Speaker 2: trying to figure out our program. But the corner that
- 37:45Speaker 2: I can concern about the real frominal reform that we're
- 37:48Speaker 2: trying to get them another one they're talking about some
- 37:52Speaker 2: just some little phons so that we're here the only
- 37:55Speaker 2: family aware of the problem. But they're not just to
- 37:58Speaker 2: make family aware of the that's what.
- 38:05Speaker 5: And you and you're right about that, they're not.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Because I'm in them groups, I look at them groups.
- 38:10Speaker 4: I may not say anything to them, but I see
- 38:14Speaker 4: what some of the focuses is mainly about some of
- 38:19Speaker 4: the some of the wives. They want to know how
- 38:23Speaker 4: do they get their husband called? Okay, how do they
- 38:29Speaker 4: get their call off? That's not that's not important. Why
- 38:33Speaker 4: do you need his call af your I mean, who
- 38:38Speaker 4: can I mean, I understand what what he cheating on you?
- 38:41Speaker 5: And something? You know, That's not the focus right right now.
- 38:44Speaker 4: Let's talk about how to change some of these laws
- 38:51Speaker 4: and not calling a counselors getting called off. Let's stop
- 38:57Speaker 4: making foolish petitions about things that they gonna they probably deny.
- 39:03Speaker 4: Let's let's do something else with that time and energy
- 39:07Speaker 4: instead of just like talking nonsense inside of the groups.
- 39:10Speaker 5: Mister legate, do you have anything.
- 39:15Speaker 6: Well, I just like to I would just like to
- 39:17Speaker 6: say that people really need to understand that there's a
- 39:19Speaker 6: lot of a lot of yes that are going on
- 39:23Speaker 6: in TVCJ a lot of them, and it's de pintly
- 39:26Speaker 6: being that nobody questions. I feel for the family. I
- 39:30Speaker 6: feel for the for the family delt who passed away.
- 39:33Speaker 6: I mean, I've seen people in here, especially in my
- 39:35Speaker 6: deception with it takes months, people die because of well
- 39:39Speaker 6: when I hear it is because of of that K
- 39:41Speaker 6: two stuff that they smoke, some of them money, they
- 39:44Speaker 6: even talk to you. I don't even know. I can
- 39:45Speaker 6: seem around and because I'm really I'm really I'm not
- 39:48Speaker 6: like that type super but I only uh, I don't
- 39:51Speaker 6: like to deal with people who who pass their time
- 39:54Speaker 6: in a negative way, I said, with something but positive people.
- 39:58Speaker 6: And if people don't even want to help, like to
- 40:00Speaker 6: helpful even the people who do time in any way.
- 40:02Speaker 6: But I'm asking is if people should really reach out
- 40:05Speaker 6: to their senators. Their play is the representatives you know,
- 40:10Speaker 6: and and and ask hey, you know, gets up at
- 40:15Speaker 6: maybe two o'clock in the morning doing random shiekdowns and
- 40:18Speaker 6: try to get the off guards. And so now they're
- 40:21Speaker 6: giving a great deprivation because they want these people to
- 40:24Speaker 6: come in, you know. And and it's all because.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Of the books.
- 40:27Speaker 6: It's all because they do not want to set a
- 40:29Speaker 6: platform that can actually try to help and educate the younger.
- 40:35Speaker 7: Offender.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Center and present.
- 40:37Speaker 6: You've got people come in with.
- 40:39Speaker 2: With my senators.
- 40:40Speaker 6: We've got murders, you got a rapists, you got all
- 40:42Speaker 6: kind of criminals. Criminal uh, people who have done all
- 40:47Speaker 6: kinds of criminal activity. But the fact is to they
- 40:50Speaker 6: deserve to be realitated. I think. So, I think everybody
- 40:55Speaker 6: the chance, everybody deserves a space to vote so that
- 40:57Speaker 6: they can try to do something to other than with
- 41:00Speaker 6: the time. Yeah, they get a couple of programs here
- 41:02Speaker 6: that some of them light do which is from around
- 41:05Speaker 6: religious program but other than some of them use it
- 41:08Speaker 6: as a game. You know, everything is basically getting games now.
- 41:12Speaker 6: And it sentenced me because especially when I see these
- 41:14Speaker 6: young individuals, you know, how they're wasting their life away.
- 41:18Speaker 6: They could not realize it. And what's said is it
- 41:21Speaker 6: because they always can constantly getting money from their families
- 41:24Speaker 6: who love them, you know, and instead of finding a
- 41:27Speaker 6: compensation for themselves, they're using all that money, all that
- 41:31Speaker 6: conversary to give it to the guy who's given them
- 41:33Speaker 6: the drugs.
- 41:34Speaker 4: So, I mean, we have a question from Patrees. She
- 41:40Speaker 4: would like to know are there any drug programs available
- 41:45Speaker 4: inside of there. Do they offer drug programs in there?
- 41:51Speaker 6: Well, but you haven't an a however, to give that
- 41:54Speaker 6: program is very hard. But the way it is, right,
- 41:56Speaker 6: you know, short step. I mean, they're super short of stuff.
- 41:59Speaker 6: They're not having no kind of programs at all. They
- 42:01Speaker 6: do have a program that's along with the recovery uttle
- 42:05Speaker 6: recovery program. Right, but you have people in there that
- 42:09Speaker 6: shouldn't even be there, people who don't even do drugs,
- 42:12Speaker 6: People don't do this or do that.
- 42:13Speaker 2: But they kick out people.
- 42:15Speaker 6: Who have a problem if you have a problem, trying
- 42:18Speaker 6: to help them to rehabilitate themselves to become a better person.
- 42:22Speaker 6: They're not saying, oh no, well you can't do this
- 42:24Speaker 6: because if if we find out that you're smoking, we're
- 42:26Speaker 6: going to kick you out. Well, that's not the recovery program.
- 42:28Speaker 2: The recovery program might think that you have. If you
- 42:31Speaker 2: do have that problem, you can stop them, talk to
- 42:33Speaker 2: them and try to get helpful. But they're not doing that.
- 42:37Speaker 6: So that I asked your.
- 42:38Speaker 5: Question, Yes, did that answer your question for trees?
- 42:43Speaker 7: You know?
- 42:45Speaker 4: So you so without the programs, they just I just
- 42:50Speaker 4: I just hanging out you.
- 42:53Speaker 2: I mean, and now there's nothing they can do. There's
- 42:59Speaker 2: over Yeah, there's nothing they can do.
- 43:02Speaker 6: There's no recreation. We don't have no recreation because short
- 43:05Speaker 6: of staff being.
- 43:11Speaker 2: The trade.
- 43:12Speaker 6: You know. Yes, there's a long waiting lists and stuff
- 43:15Speaker 6: like this, and you have to be case free. But
- 43:17Speaker 6: even now because for three years to be closed the
- 43:21Speaker 6: creators now you has certain people that get you go
- 43:24Speaker 6: and have it in daught this program, you know, and
- 43:26Speaker 6: I pay for myself. I've been once three years, so
- 43:28Speaker 6: I can't do nothing. I can't uh practice by trade.
- 43:32Speaker 6: But that's okay because I do my time in a
- 43:35Speaker 6: positive way anyway. You know me, I'm always playing my gage.
- 43:37Speaker 6: I'm always looking at reading and searching and trying to
- 43:40Speaker 6: keep myself out so maybe I can do something when
- 43:43Speaker 6: I do get out, trying to help somebody, trying to
- 43:45Speaker 6: help the system, trying to get that change, trying to
- 43:47Speaker 6: talk to legislators myself. If I can, I would go
- 43:50Speaker 6: to the magister your session and speak and behaving with
- 43:53Speaker 6: the own system, because I do believe it needs changed,
- 43:56Speaker 6: you know, I do believe it because people do need
- 43:58Speaker 6: to be punished for private they committed. I do agree
- 44:01Speaker 6: with that. However, there's a certain point and time where
- 44:05Speaker 6: everybody needs to gain some kind of a discipline, some
- 44:09Speaker 6: kind of education, some kind of motives, you know, to
- 44:13Speaker 6: help them, you know, to uh uh bring them back
- 44:16Speaker 6: to society and to see what life is really about,
- 44:19Speaker 6: what they're really missing. You know, it's not all about
- 44:21Speaker 6: the hustle, is the puzzle or just the party and
- 44:24Speaker 6: all this stuff, or trying to be anxious that you're
- 44:27Speaker 6: not you know, it's just trying to be a humble
- 44:30Speaker 6: person that can go out into the world and be responsible.
- 44:34Speaker 6: And that's what that's the way they're supposed to do this.
- 44:36Speaker 2: They're supposed to.
- 44:37Speaker 6: Commit rehabilitation forward these offenders and just maybe they're not doing.
- 44:42Speaker 4: And yeah, and and it is very sad because once
- 44:48Speaker 4: the one want, once their release and they haven't been
- 44:53Speaker 4: given the proper tools to come back into society, they
- 45:00Speaker 4: want to reoffend again. And I sometimes I be thinking
- 45:03Speaker 4: that that's what they depend on. Oh, you know, he
- 45:07Speaker 4: gonna go out there, he gonna get in trouble, or
- 45:09Speaker 4: she gonna go out there and get in trouble.
- 45:11Speaker 5: She'll be back, She'll.
- 45:12Speaker 4: Be back in and probably little do we know, they
- 45:15Speaker 4: probably be putting back so like, oh, he'll be back
- 45:18Speaker 4: in here like two months, three months, and you know,
- 45:20Speaker 4: and then here he comes back in. You know, So
- 45:26Speaker 4: how do I mean once again? You know, I do
- 45:31Speaker 4: believe that there's power and voices if we all come
- 45:39Speaker 4: together and speak out against what's going on in these prisons.
- 45:45Speaker 4: You know, you can go on Facebook and enter into
- 45:48Speaker 4: these prison groups and you can see how many men,
- 45:53Speaker 4: how many women, especially the men are in these prisons
- 45:57Speaker 4: as getting the fentonel pay too in their overdose. Mister Legate,
- 46:04Speaker 4: I know you got one minute left, so I'm gonna
- 46:07Speaker 4: go ahead and let you give your final thought and also,
- 46:14Speaker 4: well I'll do it for you.
- 46:15Speaker 5: I will give them your change dot Org.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Go ahead, Okay.
- 46:21Speaker 6: What I'd like to say is that you know, want
- 46:23Speaker 6: enough about TVC what they implemented, because you have to
- 46:26Speaker 6: have self super rehabilitation. If you want to rehabilitate yourself.
- 46:31Speaker 6: They're saying they will go to school, get it, g
- 46:33Speaker 6: do whatever you're gonna do. But there is no most
- 46:36Speaker 6: for these people. Everybody takes care of these because they
- 46:39Speaker 6: love them. They send them money, they do what everything
- 46:41Speaker 6: can because they help them out. Now when they get
- 46:43Speaker 6: up into the world, they say, hey, well now you've
- 46:45Speaker 6: got to get a job. You gotta get responsible, you
- 46:47Speaker 6: gotta do this, you gonna do But they can't do that.
- 46:49Speaker 6: They rather they rather work for a staff work or
- 46:52Speaker 6: or dollar you know flint stuff here, redid they go
- 46:56Speaker 6: out there making money and make it productive?
- 46:57Speaker 2: But I believe because family's love.
- 47:02Speaker 4: Okay, okay, So we have Cornell back. Mister Legate. Time
- 47:09Speaker 4: ran ran out. And you know mister Legate is currently
- 47:16Speaker 4: in uh Texas fighting abron for conviction.
- 47:21Speaker 5: We had him on here many a time talking about
- 47:24Speaker 5: his conviction.
- 47:25Speaker 4: If you guys haven't got to change dot org, look
- 47:30Speaker 4: up just where's the justice for James Legate? And please
- 47:34Speaker 4: sign his change dot org because he is an innocent
- 47:40Speaker 4: man in prison. So Cornell, welcome back.
- 47:47Speaker 2: Yes, ma'am, I'm back and I appreciate being back. Man,
- 47:50Speaker 2: yes ma'am. Okay, So we.
- 47:58Speaker 4: Was talking about we had a a question come up.
- 48:02Speaker 4: Patrice asked a question about drug programs. If there were
- 48:07Speaker 4: any drug programs in the in the prison.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Okay, okay, that's a good question to be asked, man,
- 48:17Speaker 2: I have been Okay, just put it like this. This
- 48:21Speaker 2: is a sham process, man, Okay, I am getting one
- 48:24Speaker 2: right now. This is specified as the management Training Corporation,
- 48:32Speaker 2: which is a profit facility, a private entity. And what
- 48:36Speaker 2: they're doing is that the roll board would make you
- 48:39Speaker 2: would recommend you to be pakeful one of these programs.
- 48:42Speaker 2: What NTDC. We do have AA programs and other church
- 48:46Speaker 2: programs in order to help people to try to stay
- 48:49Speaker 2: away from drugs and stuff like that. But no, we
- 48:52Speaker 2: do not have any positive programs here in the prison
- 48:55Speaker 2: system Texas that would help these kids get off of
- 48:58Speaker 2: drug man, you do not have that, So we can't
- 49:02Speaker 2: tick it, code it in line and say that we do.
- 49:03Speaker 4: We don't because mister Legate was telling us that it
- 49:07Speaker 4: wasn't any programs over there for them to do that.
- 49:11Speaker 4: They basically, I just guess they just hanging out, not
- 49:15Speaker 4: doing nothing. So if they just over there hanging out
- 49:18Speaker 4: and not doing anything, that's a prime way to start,
- 49:22Speaker 4: you know, indulging, you know, thinking that Okay, I'm gonna
- 49:27Speaker 4: go over here and I'm gonna do this, and this
- 49:29Speaker 4: just gonna send me floating out of prison for a
- 49:34Speaker 4: minute and then I come back to reality. But sometimes
- 49:37Speaker 4: some of them gonna snap out of it. They over
- 49:40Speaker 4: there down overdose.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Okay, Well, ma'am, I'm speaking ma'am. Okay, if kids don't
- 49:50Speaker 2: have no intentions, ma'am to do better, it will not
- 49:54Speaker 2: do better. If we have no programs, kids have to
- 49:58Speaker 2: do better. They don't know but that and do better.
- 50:00Speaker 7: Man.
- 50:01Speaker 2: So with that being said, now, since I've been in
- 50:03Speaker 2: this prison system now all my life now, there has
- 50:06Speaker 2: been no productive drug realitation programs within the system to
- 50:13Speaker 2: be able to help these kids to be able to
- 50:15Speaker 2: refrain from using dugs. Okay, Now, when the black market
- 50:19Speaker 2: came in, when they stopped selling cigarettes in the physic system,
- 50:22Speaker 2: the black market came in. Wow, because you had TDC
- 50:26Speaker 2: officers knowing that they can make an extra bug by
- 50:28Speaker 2: bringing in baccles. Then they started bringing in other stuff cocaine, weed, ecstasy,
- 50:34Speaker 2: everything else that the hatmaker used in order to medicate
- 50:37Speaker 2: themselves from the reality of being incarcerated behind prison walls
- 50:41Speaker 2: in these unsanitary prison conditions. And this is what's going
- 50:45Speaker 2: on right now. So what our Texas for roll Board
- 50:48Speaker 2: did was this, they said, well, okay, the only way
- 50:50Speaker 2: you can make the role is that we're going to
- 50:52Speaker 2: recommend you to get taked to a drug real beef
- 50:55Speaker 2: a station program at the end of your CYEMS. Once
- 50:58Speaker 2: you make the role. But mind yourself. Some of these
- 51:01Speaker 2: people have a pin for fifty six or even life sentences. Man.
- 51:06Speaker 2: And the little programs that they do have in here,
- 51:11Speaker 2: a program that's the inmates trying to teach other inmate
- 51:15Speaker 2: away from juniors. Man. They don't have no counselors that
- 51:18Speaker 2: come up in here and to be able to teach
- 51:20Speaker 2: you how to get away from drugs and to give
- 51:22Speaker 2: you the tools that they able to you that you
- 51:27Speaker 2: we don't have that.
- 51:28Speaker 4: You know now, I just gotta say this before I
- 51:32Speaker 4: forget it. You said that they offer you the program
- 51:38Speaker 4: at the end of your sentence. Why they don't Why
- 51:41Speaker 4: do they do that? Why they don't offer it? Doing
- 51:44Speaker 4: your doing the incarceration, I would think why they're incarcerated,
- 51:52Speaker 4: you would want to start introducing them to that then
- 51:56Speaker 4: that way they can start making the changes before the
- 52:00Speaker 4: time to uh.
- 52:03Speaker 5: Exit the system.
- 52:05Speaker 7: Okay, because this is what they're doing.
- 52:09Speaker 2: They're placing us.
- 52:10Speaker 7: They're placing us into.
- 52:12Speaker 2: This Management Training Corporation program, which is a require chief
- 52:17Speaker 2: that time tracking with the State of Texas that's making
- 52:21Speaker 2: millions and millions of dollars off of the state. From
- 52:25Speaker 2: some other meetings, and everybody got their hands in the
- 52:27Speaker 2: cookie jar man. Now mind yourself. This is a private facility.
- 52:32Speaker 7: That we're in.
- 52:33Speaker 2: This is not the parole board. The parole board put
- 52:36Speaker 2: us in this. So how is it logy and possible
- 52:39Speaker 2: that this provfity right now is making billions of dollars
- 52:43Speaker 2: off of six thousand inmates who have already made parole,
- 52:46Speaker 2: but they only got two thousand days. So you've got
- 52:49Speaker 2: people that's waiting and waiting and waiting.
- 52:52Speaker 8: To get for this program, and they can't get you a.
- 52:56Speaker 2: While because they don't have enough mis states for these independents.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Those things in corporations getting paid money for us just shouldn't.
- 53:03Speaker 5: You And you know, and I think that's just just crazy.
- 53:07Speaker 2: Crazy, Okay, that's just crazy.
- 53:10Speaker 4: You know, you know how you gonna hold how would
- 53:14Speaker 4: somebody mad p row you would think that, Okay, you
- 53:17Speaker 4: gave them a fund, they made parrole and they're gonna
- 53:21Speaker 4: be out this day, whether I know in California, I
- 53:24Speaker 4: believe it.
- 53:25Speaker 5: They give THEE.
- 53:27Speaker 4: One hundred and twenty more days before their release, yes, ma'am,
- 53:33Speaker 4: But they send you, they send U you guys program.
- 53:39Speaker 2: Yes and yes, and so the programs that they're sentemas
- 53:42Speaker 2: too was like that, I make the role today and
- 53:46Speaker 2: the recommend man FI six and the A six is
- 53:49Speaker 2: a six month program.
- 53:50Speaker 7: That's this program that I'm in.
- 53:53Speaker 2: Give you a three month extension day, so you have
- 53:56Speaker 2: to be.
- 53:56Speaker 8: At the program from that day you want to roll
- 53:59Speaker 8: three months later. Are like me, I came here and
- 54:01Speaker 8: I opposed to hear in Octo, but I can't get
- 54:04Speaker 8: here until January. So these four months, if they had
- 54:07Speaker 8: me waiting to get here, they put that on the
- 54:10Speaker 8: ends of the air box. So none of my release
- 54:13Speaker 8: dy does not until July the fourteenth.
- 54:17Speaker 2: But how is that like bepluncible?
- 54:19Speaker 8: But he gave me an air fix six far from
- 54:22Speaker 8: October to April the first.
- 54:25Speaker 2: No, my release day now July the fourteenth.
- 54:29Speaker 8: But these people are getting money from me being here
- 54:31Speaker 8: in this program.
- 54:32Speaker 7: Because they don't have enough, their says, ma'am.
- 54:35Speaker 2: And they are holding us behind and making these people
- 54:37Speaker 2: to eighteen nineteen more even to get here.
- 54:40Speaker 7: And you know, so this is a problem.
- 54:42Speaker 5: Did they just get a million dollars to make kay?
- 54:50Speaker 2: Yes, ma'am, Okay, I'm here the demeanin stay there studing
- 54:54Speaker 2: the facility units, now, okay, and I just come from
- 54:57Speaker 2: the colony you're in the coney. You're to just get
- 54:59Speaker 2: bad as as the common unit.
- 55:02Speaker 7: Okay, well, these people don't care. Got a million dollars
- 55:05Speaker 7: uh to fix.
- 55:06Speaker 5: The facility up.
- 55:07Speaker 8: The money is the bottom of the medical department and
- 55:10Speaker 8: the bottom of the kitchen.
- 55:11Speaker 2: Man, it's flooded with water all the way to the
- 55:14Speaker 2: top of the seeds. So because of that, they don't
- 55:16Speaker 2: have no hot water in.
- 55:18Speaker 8: The kitchen whatsoever, man at all. So the food tide
- 55:22Speaker 8: that they are using it of being washed in trashcans
- 55:25Speaker 8: with a little beef water and that disappears, aches out,
- 55:28Speaker 8: and then the water sold and the trades that we're eating.
- 55:30Speaker 2: From a crazy train.
- 55:33Speaker 8: So now with that being saigment, the.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Heat, the contaminated trees, and now.
- 55:38Speaker 8: They don't have no water popper water to give us
- 55:40Speaker 8: because the walls contaminated.
- 55:43Speaker 5: So now he so officers they get bottle water.
- 55:46Speaker 7: They bring eat eating bottled water.
- 55:47Speaker 8: I'm looking at eight stacks the bottle of water in
- 55:50Speaker 8: the picket right now for the office cases of.
- 55:53Speaker 7: The bottle of water.
- 55:55Speaker 8: And they eat from paper trades. But we can't eat
- 55:58Speaker 8: from the paper trade. We have to eat from the
- 56:00Speaker 8: same treading that they give us.
- 56:03Speaker 2: The Depp.
- 56:03Speaker 8: And if I tell you these treatings are so briefy.
- 56:06Speaker 5: That ma'am can say, and the food and I can
- 56:10Speaker 5: only imagine.
- 56:11Speaker 4: I can just you know, talking to the men over
- 56:14Speaker 4: there Domingos Unit, you know, so missing on the gate
- 56:18Speaker 4: and seeing and everybody telling me how they water them trades.
- 56:24Speaker 4: They just dipping them in water and trash.
- 56:28Speaker 8: Can and that. Right now, man, who are complaining about
- 56:43Speaker 8: some problem with the kischen or something and uh, I
- 56:46Speaker 8: forgot some name of it. Bro get up for a
- 56:49Speaker 8: second up here, I'm trying to think of.
- 56:52Speaker 5: Man.
- 56:52Speaker 8: Now, it's coming to be a problem of the coming
- 56:56Speaker 8: up with these body diseases and they don't know what
- 56:59Speaker 8: it's from.
- 57:01Speaker 2: And do just identified it today. And you know, when
- 57:04Speaker 2: this guy told me about it the other day, I
- 57:06Speaker 2: didn't know for sure that's what it was.
- 57:13Speaker 7: He said, his kidney is.
- 57:14Speaker 2: A something that's wrong with him.
- 57:15Speaker 6: Man.
- 57:16Speaker 8: That's another two were doing the thing, identical things. Man,
- 57:19Speaker 8: So it's got to be from this world up something
- 57:22Speaker 8: that's you know, that's these people of feeding us man.
- 57:35Speaker 2: Okay, kidneystone, that's what he was trying.
- 57:37Speaker 7: To figure out. That's what they're trying to say. Yeah,
- 57:45Speaker 7: this is a holiday. Oh, this is the holiday, mister.
- 57:49Speaker 4: Holiday is the one I have that was recently diagnosed
- 57:54Speaker 4: with a mess.
- 57:54Speaker 8: Right, no, ma'am, that's left the young.
- 57:58Speaker 2: But the holiday is the one that had they we
- 58:00Speaker 2: call mandation. Oh okay, okay, yes.
- 58:06Speaker 7: Lam, yes, so man, this is the problem. So the
- 58:11Speaker 7: the people are not.
- 58:12Speaker 8: Giving any problematical assistance lens for these people. Electric people
- 58:16Speaker 8: get off of these dewty trade. I'm talking about washing
- 58:19Speaker 8: trade in cover water. And as far as the facility,
- 58:22Speaker 8: we don't get no recreation over here.
- 58:23Speaker 7: It's a twenty four hour lockdown facility.
- 58:25Speaker 8: We don't get no recreation over here. And as far
- 58:28Speaker 8: as the compound erode it, I can't do nothing, man.
- 58:35Speaker 8: So you know, the conditions are so bad that it's sad.
- 58:38Speaker 7: And we're asking for.
- 58:39Speaker 2: Our representatives to come and walk through these.
- 58:42Speaker 8: Units to look at them, because if they can see
- 58:46Speaker 8: for themselves what we're complaining about, that's.
- 58:50Speaker 7: All we ask, man, So that they can see what
- 58:52Speaker 7: we're seeing and what we're saying, that's all we.
- 58:55Speaker 6: Ask, man. And you know.
- 58:59Speaker 5: We're not I look in the in the groups.
- 59:06Speaker 2: And I see.
- 59:08Speaker 4: What they're what they're posting. They're not posting anything that's
- 59:12Speaker 4: really alarming. Now people need to go check out the
- 59:17Speaker 4: prison system or anything like that.
- 59:21Speaker 5: They just talking a bunch of nonsense. So how do
- 59:27Speaker 5: we get We got three minutes for now, How can
- 59:30Speaker 5: we get in good?
- 59:31Speaker 2: How?
- 59:32Speaker 1: What?
- 59:32Speaker 5: What's what would y'all like for us?
- 59:36Speaker 7: Okay, well, ma'am, you have opened the door a riad
- 59:39Speaker 7: of yourself.
- 59:40Speaker 8: Okay, the the Print show, it's a power that.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Here and checkens well exectives and Corolla board numbers, and
- 59:47Speaker 2: people come off.
- 59:48Speaker 8: To that show and they talk. Okay, that here in technics.
- 59:52Speaker 7: Okay, now you got the.
- 59:53Speaker 2: Prom that they make association, you got the tective prison alignment,
- 59:57Speaker 2: and you've got the tectives.
- 59:59Speaker 7: That's kind of see people and you.
- 1:00:01Speaker 8: Can a lawyer for stuff that be going to.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: The prison show to speak.
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: So what let's ask for us to do?
- 1:00:07Speaker 8: Let us read down to the depend the show and
- 1:00:09Speaker 8: ask them.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: To invite these individuals to come over.
- 1:00:13Speaker 8: To the Let's Talk about It show and the poor
- 1:00:15Speaker 8: podcast and let us open.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Up a dialogue of discussions about reforming our text criminal
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: justice system and the.
- 1:00:22Speaker 8: Issues that are any matter, and we ask them for
- 1:00:25Speaker 8: founidies to get involved, to get involved into the real relationships,
- 1:00:28Speaker 8: about court system, of the plea, argains of the law,
- 1:00:31Speaker 8: parties of the second, the field you know, the subtecree,
- 1:00:35Speaker 8: read application laws. All these things have to be fixed
- 1:00:39Speaker 8: because if not with well with being at their horse
- 1:00:42Speaker 8: man right, what we have a problem system now that
- 1:00:46Speaker 8: will never be sick until we fix it right.
