- 0:00Speaker 1: 94.9 News and Stimulating Talk. Tony D'Angelo in for this
- 0:04Speaker 1: Tuesday edition of the Lee Elsie Show. It is October 13th.
- 0:08Speaker 1: It's not Triska Decaphobia because it's not a Friday, but.
- 0:13Speaker 2: We don't need Triska Decaphobia here.
- 0:15Speaker 1: But since it's the next three and you belong to
- 0:18Speaker 1: me and since I need all the help I can
- 0:20Speaker 1: get and so do we all, we're going to pray first.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Heavenly Father, we come before you with humble hearts asking
- 0:26Speaker 1: for your mercy and your peace in this uncertain hour.
- 0:29Speaker 1: We lift up the leaders of our nation and leaders
- 0:31Speaker 1: around the world. Grant them wisdom beyond their own understanding,
- 0:35Speaker 1: courage to do what is right, and discernment that may
- 0:37Speaker 1: prevent needless suffering. Guide every decision with justice, restraint, and
- 0:42Speaker 1: a desire for peace. Lord, we pray for the brave
- 0:45Speaker 1: men and women of our military and our police officers, firefighters, paramedics,
- 0:49Speaker 1: and all first responders, including the officers of ICE. Surround
- 0:53Speaker 1: them with your protection. Strengthen them for the difficult days ahead.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Comfort their families and bring.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Them safely home.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Lord, we pray this same prayer for all the ordinary
- 1:02Speaker 1: working people out there today at risk to support their
- 1:05Speaker 1: loved ones.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Bring them safely home in the comfort of their families
- 1:08Speaker 2: too tonight, Lord.
- 1:09Speaker 1: We ask you to watch over our country, unite us
- 1:12Speaker 1: in purpose, calm our fears, and remind us that our ultimate.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Hope is found in you alone.
- 1:18Speaker 1: May your peace rule in our hearts, your truth guide
- 1:20Speaker 1: our nation, and your hand of protection rest upon the
- 1:23Speaker 1: United States of America.
- 1:25Speaker 2: In Jesus' holy name we pray, amen. And good morning.
- 1:29Speaker 1: And it's Tony and Fuli on this Tuesday the 13th.
- 1:33Speaker 1: What I'd like to open with is something that is
- 1:37Speaker 1: troubling me.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I always come here with something that's troubling me.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I've got to talk to somebody, so I'm going to
- 1:42Speaker 1: talk to all you guys.
- 1:45Speaker 2: And if I were to give this a title, I
- 1:47Speaker 2: would call this, We Just.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Can't Be Stupid Anymore, and We Can't Be Blind Anymore,
- 1:52Speaker 1: and We Just Can't Pretend That Things Just Aren't Happening.
- 1:57Speaker 2: And because they are.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Reading in the excellent Connecticut Sentinel, there is a great
- 2:03Speaker 1: article last week. The Working Families Party, a very left-leaning organization,
- 2:10Speaker 1: if you've never heard of them, they sent out an
- 2:14Speaker 1: email celebrating primary wins that dealt a direct blow to
- 2:18Speaker 1: the legislators, the Connecticut legislature's more moderate Democrat caucus. These
- 2:23Speaker 1: were Democrats who sometimes pushed back on aggressive housing, labor,
- 2:27Speaker 1: or spending bills, you know, in those vague moments of
- 2:30Speaker 1: sanity or.
- 2:30Speaker 3: However it worked. Now, there is a guide that.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Is written for all these people.
- 2:38Speaker 1: They shared it with me. I'm happy to share it
- 2:40Speaker 1: with you if you want a copy of it. It
- 2:42Speaker 1: goes on for about 32 pages and it is incredibly,
- 2:47Speaker 1: incredibly precise. What they do is they work on concepts
- 2:54Speaker 1: and buzzwords and Repetition and deflecting the issue. If you've
- 2:59Speaker 1: ever watched Abdul Al-Sayed, who was running for the Senate
- 3:03Speaker 1: in Michigan. Zohra Mondami, same thing. They are masters at deflection.
- 3:09Speaker 1: They are masters at not handling the direct question and
- 3:16Speaker 1: making it to, how dare you ask me such a.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Nonsense question. There's much more important things at hand. And
- 3:24Speaker 2: so they work and they drill and they drill and
- 3:27Speaker 2: they drill.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And what they do is they appeal to the, shall
- 3:30Speaker 1: we say, I can't really think of another word, sort
- 3:34Speaker 1: of the lowest common denominator of where everybody's at.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Things are too expensive. Things are too high.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Do you see what these people are doing to you?
- 3:41Speaker 1: They're the ones that are going to get everything. You're
- 3:43Speaker 1: not going to get anything. If you go with me,
- 3:45Speaker 1: you're going to get health care for all. You're going
- 3:48Speaker 1: to get housing and you're going to get all these
- 3:51Speaker 1: things as a human right. And What they're doing successfully
- 3:56Speaker 1: that Republicans, sorry, are not doing at all is they're
- 4:01Speaker 1: not doing anything dumb.
- 4:03Speaker 2: They're not doing anything trite or humorous where you're not
- 4:06Speaker 2: really funny.
- 4:07Speaker 1: They're hitting people where it's at. So somebody sits there
- 4:10Speaker 1: and says, yeah, you know, you didn't have it as well.
- 4:13Speaker 1: You had it a lot better under Joe Biden. Well,
- 4:15Speaker 1: I probably don't remember that. Oh, yeah, I guess I did, right? Yeah, well,
- 4:18Speaker 1: what are you going to do for me? You're going
- 4:19Speaker 1: to do all this stuff for me?
- 4:20Speaker 2: Great, I'm going to.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Vote for you.
- 4:22Speaker 2: And basically... The buzzwords that they're using is it's all
- 4:27Speaker 2: about monopolies.
- 4:28Speaker 1: It's all about taxing the rich and rejecting corporate PAC money.
- 4:33Speaker 2: And it's this whole thing of we are the.
- 4:36Speaker 1: People, and the only hope you have is to go
- 4:39Speaker 1: with what we are doing because the system is so
- 4:42Speaker 1: horribly stacked against you that you will never do anything.
- 4:46Speaker 1: You will never get there. Now, personally, okay, personally, I
- 4:50Speaker 1: find that offensive.
- 4:52Speaker 2: There is nothing... in the United States of America.
- 4:56Speaker 1: There is nothing in my book, what I believe in
- 5:00Speaker 1: the Bible, that tells me I'm limited.
- 5:02Speaker 2: My limits are up to me.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I do not want some political idiot coming to me
- 5:07Speaker 1: and telling me that I'm limited. He can shut the
- 5:11Speaker 1: blank up as far as I'm concerned. That's what they're doing.
- 5:15Speaker 1: And they're far better messengers than Republicans are, and they're
- 5:21Speaker 1: working it. Meanwhile, Back to the jungle. What do we
- 5:27Speaker 1: hear from Republicans? Do they see this evil? Do they
- 5:32Speaker 1: see this mind game? Do they see this drill over
- 5:36Speaker 1: and over and over? I'm watching Bernie Sanders. He was
- 5:40Speaker 1: in Maine. He was campaigning for the Senate candidate there.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I think his name is Jackson, if I'm not mistaken.
- 5:47Speaker 1: And He's just drilling people saying, if you were over
- 5:51Speaker 1: in Canada, if you just were, you know, 300 miles north,
- 5:56Speaker 1: everything would be fine for you.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And how come they can do it and how come
- 5:59Speaker 2: we can't do it with respect to health care?
- 6:03Speaker 1: What he's not telling you is try getting kidney dialysis
- 6:08Speaker 1: in Canada. I had Canadian clients, you know, blessedly most
- 6:12Speaker 1: of them had passed on. They were wonderful people or
- 6:15Speaker 1: they were dual citizens or whatever the case may be.
- 6:17Speaker 2: The only hope they had to any kind.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Of medical care in Canada was what they called the
- 6:23Speaker 1: Cadillac Plan.
- 6:24Speaker 2: If you could plunk down money, you were taken care
- 6:26Speaker 2: of great because the system was starving. The providers were desperate, okay?
- 6:31Speaker 2: That's what it is. They don't tell you any of that. But,
- 6:33Speaker 2: of course, they don't. They're liars. But when it comes
- 6:36Speaker 2: down to it is.
- 6:38Speaker 1: We hear from Republicans, you know, taxes are too high.
- 6:41Speaker 1: They are high costs and unaffordability. And yesterday I was
- 6:44Speaker 1: watching the clip of Ryan Fazio on, I believe it
- 6:47Speaker 1: was CNBC, and was saying that.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Affordability is the biggest issue in Connecticut.
- 6:53Speaker 1: And then I thought to myself, I said, yes, affordability matters.
- 6:57Speaker 1: If you want to say it's the biggest issue, that's fine.
- 6:59Speaker 1: But things immediately become more affordable if income increases.
- 7:05Speaker 2: It's not hard to conceive of that. And then the
- 7:09Speaker 2: other thing really is, how can I put it? If
- 7:15Speaker 2: you're going to increase income, you've got to.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Pull out every single thing you can do in order
- 7:22Speaker 1: to increase income and become business-friendly. talk to any business
- 7:27Speaker 1: person long, you know, long the strip out here and
- 7:30Speaker 1: led you to wherever you.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Want to go.
- 7:32Speaker 1: And just, uh, I don't have a survey and walk
- 7:36Speaker 1: up to him and say, is Connecticut a business friendly state?
- 7:39Speaker 2: I mean, see what you're going to get basically.
- 7:42Speaker 1: And it's that if something like that is not done,
- 7:46Speaker 1: if that economic parallel is not brightly woven, um, We're
- 7:53Speaker 1: in for it, folks.
- 7:54Speaker 2: We are terribly in for it.
- 7:56Speaker 1: And the other thing, and I mean, I say this
- 7:59Speaker 1: in observation to Mr.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Fazio, not in criticism. How the hell are you going
- 8:04Speaker 2: to get businesses here?
- 8:05Speaker 1: And the whole state's completely disavowing the Qualified Opportunity Zones 2.0.
- 8:10Speaker 2: It is an absolute no-brainer. Bring people here.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yeah, sure.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Bring them into an opportunity zone. I mean, what the
- 8:17Speaker 2: hell have you got to lose?
- 8:18Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 8:18Speaker 6: Nothing.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Do we ever hear about it? No, because why? That's OBBBA.
- 8:21Speaker 2: That's Trump. That's evil.
- 8:22Speaker 1: That's, you know, if you're watching this, I'm doing my
- 8:25Speaker 1: first wife's vampire cross my fingers.
- 8:28Speaker 2: But that being as it is.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Why I'm saying this, it's not in as much as
- 8:35Speaker 1: to criticize the effort as it is.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Look at what they're doing on the other side. They
- 8:42Speaker 2: are assailing everything.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And to say, well, okay, you know, we can have
- 8:47Speaker 1: our taxes lower and utility, but that's all good.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Unfortunately, it's not enough.
- 8:52Speaker 1: The people who are over there, who are pushing farther
- 8:56Speaker 1: to the left, Al-Sayed, the... You know, Tallarico in Texas.
- 9:04Speaker 1: God help us if the Senate changes. That's all I
- 9:06Speaker 1: can tell you. But these people basically are, they don't
- 9:10Speaker 1: care about anything.
- 9:11Speaker 2: They think that tax dollars.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And taxing the rich, wait, hang around after 630. I'm
- 9:16Speaker 1: going to play you a tape that's going to blow
- 9:18Speaker 1: your mind.
- 9:19Speaker 2: But anyway.
- 9:20Speaker 1: It's that this whole thing is they just think that
- 9:25Speaker 1: you need to do it. If you lose the taxpayers,
- 9:28Speaker 1: another thing I was looking at, part of the same thing. Well,
- 9:31Speaker 1: let's just tax the rich. Let's just tax the billionaires.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I don't know how many billionaires we've got in Connecticut.
- 9:36Speaker 3: I hear eight.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I hear 12. I hear 15.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I mean, there are billionaires with. wealth that aren't necessarily earning.
- 9:45Speaker 1: But if we lost those billionaires, what you're really looking at,
- 9:51Speaker 1: forget about any sort of pension, shall I say, equanimity
- 9:57Speaker 1: or funding the deficit or anything like that.
- 9:59Speaker 2: It ain't going to happen.
- 10:00Speaker 1: And not only that, education spending, bye-bye. You know, as
- 10:04Speaker 1: far as public safety spending, bye-bye. What is going to
- 10:09Speaker 1: keep these people here? Oh, yeah, it is your social
- 10:12Speaker 1: good that you should pay more taxes. What they don't
- 10:16Speaker 1: understand is that the mindset of, I'll use the great
- 10:22Speaker 1: Colonel Simmons from the Demokami, is that there should be
- 10:26Speaker 1: no billionaire.
- 10:27Speaker 2: There should be no millionaire. Everybody should be equal.
- 10:32Speaker 1: And I mean, if there should be no billionaire, what
- 10:36Speaker 1: are you going to do with.
- 10:37Speaker 2: The billions of dollars in taxes they're paying if you
- 10:40Speaker 2: lose them? These people have no affinity to Connecticut. They
- 10:44Speaker 2: have none whatsoever.
- 10:45Speaker 1: And when they pass on, or if you overtax them,
- 10:48Speaker 1: do you think their kids are going to be here?
- 10:50Speaker 2: You think your kids are going to say, oh, dear nutmeg,
- 10:52Speaker 2: I just love this place. No, they are going to
- 10:54Speaker 2: get out of here faster than you can imagine. And
- 10:57Speaker 2: this is the whole thing.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And my fundamental point here is that if Republicans.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Cannot shape the economic narrative.
- 11:06Speaker 1: And message better to say, look, this isn't about higher
- 11:11Speaker 1: electric bills.
- 11:12Speaker 2: This isn't about a tax cut. This is about something
- 11:15Speaker 2: more than that. If you keep thinking that.
- 11:17Speaker 1: These people can save you in any single thing you do,
- 11:21Speaker 1: You won't be able to stay in your home. You know,
- 11:23Speaker 1: your kids may not have a school because they have
- 11:27Speaker 1: no sense whatsoever. They have no sense of reason. They
- 11:30Speaker 1: have no sense of logic. They have no sense.
- 11:33Speaker 2: They never made anything. They never made anything. They never
- 11:36Speaker 2: built anything.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Just about all of them were either employed in the
- 11:42Speaker 1: legislature or somehow publicly employed with the tax dollar. You
- 11:45Speaker 1: never made one open dollar in the system. How can
- 11:50Speaker 1: you tell me about how the system works?
- 11:52Speaker 2: It's impossible.
- 11:53Speaker 1: It's like me telling a jet fighter how to fly
- 11:57Speaker 1: in a jet airplane.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I can't do it. But that's really the fundamental thing
- 12:01Speaker 2: here that I want to tell you. And this is
- 12:03Speaker 2: the whole thing. This has real consequences. I was doing
- 12:06Speaker 2: this yesterday. We lost Stanley Black and Decker.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Of course, everybody ran away from the train wreck and
- 12:14Speaker 1: pointed fingers and how did this happen and blah, blah, blah. And,
- 12:18Speaker 1: you know, we will continue to fund the Department of
- 12:21Speaker 1: Economic and Community Development, the biggest snake oil organization in
- 12:26Speaker 1: the world. It's like we're going to save things. We're
- 12:29Speaker 1: going to make things better. The latest thing, if you
- 12:31Speaker 1: watched past Thursday's 30 with Tony, we went over Quantum CT.
- 12:35Speaker 1: $ 121 million so people can have science projects, and they're
- 12:40Speaker 1: going to do quantum computing.
- 12:41Speaker 2: And it's like, this is going to be, we're going.
- 12:43Speaker 1: To have Quantum Alley, and this is going to be wonderful.
- 12:45Speaker 1: If this is so wonderful, why don't I have a
- 12:48Speaker 1: share of stock in it?
- 12:49Speaker 2: I'm a Connecticut resident. where's the investment how is that
- 12:52Speaker 2: going to benefit me.
- 12:53Speaker 1: And it's that if that doesn't work we're going to
- 12:56Speaker 1: do something else you know all the way from it's
- 12:58Speaker 1: the snake oil salesman comes in with the same snake
- 13:01Speaker 1: oil maybe a little different color bottle and all of
- 13:03Speaker 1: a sudden things are going to be wonderful there's no
- 13:05Speaker 1: connect on that whatsoever and the fact of the matter
- 13:08Speaker 1: is if you think this is economics and unending public
- 13:13Speaker 1: spending you if you're a republican you are as economically
- 13:17Speaker 1: clueless as that democrat and that's a shame but that's.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Really the.
- 13:21Speaker 1: And I'm not saying this because I dislike you or
- 13:25Speaker 1: I hate.
- 13:26Speaker 2: You or anything.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I want you to understand what this is. And I
- 13:31Speaker 1: don't know what else I can do. I don't know
- 13:34Speaker 1: what else I can do other than tell you as
- 13:36Speaker 1: best as I can. And the problem is, and I'll
- 13:38Speaker 1: leave you with this before we jump off for the
- 13:40Speaker 1: half hour, is I really think a lot of this
- 13:43Speaker 1: economic phobia, if you will, or this economic thing.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Of grasping things is... Like we'll probably talk.
- 13:50Speaker 1: About baby bonds a little bit and Trump accounts and
- 13:53Speaker 1: things like that. It's like, well, it somehow associates things
- 13:58Speaker 1: with Donald Trump and we can't talk about Donald Trump.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Donald Trump is evil. Donald Trump is bad. He's this
- 14:03Speaker 1: and that, whatever. Look, I'm not Donald Trump's moral arbiter,
- 14:07Speaker 1: but what I submit to you is this. Donald Trump
- 14:10Speaker 1: is not the problem.
- 14:12Speaker 2: You're making him the problem. And that's really, and there's
- 14:15Speaker 2: a big difference. And if you don't understand.
- 14:17Speaker 1: That, perhaps when we have more time, I'll do my
- 14:19Speaker 1: best to explain it to you. Anyway, I think we're
- 14:21Speaker 1: going to be jumping off for the half hour. Tony D'Angelo, 94.9

- 14:55Speaker 7: maybe I'll understand you.
- 15:01Speaker 5: After all you've done for me, all I really want

- 24:30Speaker 1: News and Stimulating Talk that you had to get out
- 24:32Speaker 1: to those events in September because they were going to
- 24:35Speaker 1: start winding up for the bad weather. I've only got
- 24:38Speaker 1: one event to tell you about today, the Freedom Stride,
- 24:42Speaker 1: which is We'll be in Hartford October 24th, 2026. The

- 25:09Speaker 1: one word, warcher at E-S-R-E-C dot org.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Anyway, thanks for being here.
- 25:16Speaker 1: One of the things I wanted to clarify in the
- 25:18Speaker 1: open with Stanley Black and Decker not being here is
- 25:23Speaker 1: that Stanley Black and Decker went to somewhere where they
- 25:28Speaker 1: used the benefits of the One Big Beautiful Bill.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Sorry, sorry you spilled your coffee.
- 25:35Speaker 1: And Really, when they did that, they took away $ 300
- 25:39Speaker 1: million of economic activity with them. Now, count one, count two,
- 25:44Speaker 1: count three. Think of if you had a few of
- 25:46Speaker 1: those as opposed to having nothing. This is really my
- 25:50Speaker 1: fundamental point, which I'm trying to tell you. Where's it
- 25:53Speaker 1: going to come from if it doesn't come from someplace else?
- 25:56Speaker 3: That's basically it.
- 25:57Speaker 1: But anyway, what I want you to do, I want
- 26:01Speaker 1: you to listen to this tape that my very patient engineer,
- 26:06Speaker 1: will be playing. This is a group of women at
- 26:09Speaker 1: an Abdul Al-Sayed rally, if you will. These are women
- 26:14Speaker 1: about my age, my wife's age, you know, give or take, and,
- 26:18Speaker 1: you know, highly educated and very sweet and very attractive.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Listen to what you hear. Mr.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Engineer, would you please?
- 26:25Speaker 11: I'm here interviewing people.
- 26:26Speaker 31: You guys look like big Abdul supporters.
- 26:29Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 26:30Speaker 9: Tell me what you.
- 26:31Speaker 31: Guys are super excited about. What's your favorite thing he's
- 26:34Speaker 31: campaigning on?
- 26:37Speaker 32: Everything.
- 26:37Speaker 33: How can you not like what he's for?
- 26:40Speaker 9: I mean, it's like we need it. We're in bad shape.
- 26:45Speaker 31: What's your one favorite, though, what stands out the most?
- 26:49Speaker 31: Health care for all.
- 26:50Speaker 19: Okay.
- 26:51Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 26:53Speaker 34: That's my health care.
- 26:56Speaker 10: Okay.
- 26:57Speaker 6: All right.
- 26:57Speaker 31: And how are we going to give health care to everyone?
- 27:00Speaker 31: How are we going to pay for that?
- 27:02Speaker 2: We're going to tax the rich.
- 27:04Speaker 28: Okay.
- 27:05Speaker 31: How much are we going to tax them?
- 27:08Speaker 35: It's cheaper than a war.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I don't like war. No, no war, please.
- 27:14Speaker 24: Yeah.
- 27:14Speaker 34: Way cheaper than a war.
- 27:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:16Speaker 31: So we want to take all the money that we're
- 27:17Speaker 31: putting into wars and military and put it toward health care?
- 27:20Speaker 9: Yes, exactly.
- 27:21Speaker 35: Exactly.
- 27:22Speaker 2: That's what every other country does.
- 27:24Speaker 36: That's what every other country does.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Helping the most fortunate. It's a lot of hungry people.
- 27:31Speaker 34: I wish I had all my extra sweatshirts in my
- 27:33Speaker 34: car driving down here and I could have handed them
- 27:35Speaker 34: out to people on the street that looked cold and
- 27:39Speaker 34: it breaks my heart every time I drive down here.
- 27:41Speaker 31: It just breaks my heart. What does taxing the rich, though,
- 27:45Speaker 31: got to do with where the government's sending our money
- 27:48Speaker 31: toward war?
- 27:51Speaker 11: Oh, no, we love those people.
- 27:53Speaker 5: The rich are buying all the people that are running
- 27:55Speaker 5: the show.
- 27:56Speaker 9: And it ain't good. Like who?
- 28:02Speaker 24: Like who?
- 28:04Speaker 21: Who specifically?
- 28:04Speaker 11: Who should we target?
- 28:07Speaker 7: All these people that have, you know, these.
- 28:11Speaker 25: Businesses that are standing around the president in these press.
- 28:14Speaker 6: Conferences, you know.
- 28:16Speaker 32: Oh, okay.
- 28:16Speaker 31: All righty.
- 28:17Speaker 11: All these people.
- 28:23Speaker 2: This, ladies and gentlemen, needs no explanation.
- 28:27Speaker 1: As Howard Cosell would say, it unfortunately speaks for itself.
- 28:30Speaker 1: So what I'm going to do is I'm not going
- 28:34Speaker 1: to tell you my impressions. I'm going to give you
- 28:36Speaker 1: the impressions of one Spencer Pratt. You know, Spencer Pratt,
- 28:40Speaker 1: he ran for mayor of Los Angeles, really the best
- 28:42Speaker 1: campaigner in history.
- 28:44Speaker 2: I mean, the man knows something.
- 28:46Speaker 1: OK, he knows something about How this all plays together.
- 28:49Speaker 2: I'm just going to read.
- 28:50Speaker 1: His statement that he put on X. And there's a
- 28:54Speaker 1: video clip to this too, which actually is worse if
- 28:57Speaker 1: you're watching this visually. What's terrifying about this clip isn't
- 29:01Speaker 1: their ideas. These sweet gals' hearts are certainly in the
- 29:03Speaker 1: right place. What's terrifying... is they have the civic, political,
- 29:08Speaker 1: and economic literacy of a nine-year-old. When a charlatan like
- 29:11Speaker 1: Abdul comes along with their junior high class president schtick
- 29:15Speaker 1: of no more homework and the vending machines are all free,
- 29:18Speaker 1: they fall for it.
- 29:19Speaker 2: I don't know how you get to that age with zero.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Understanding of supply chains, manufacturing, labor costs, but a lot
- 29:26Speaker 1: of folks think that medicine and MRIs and hospitals just
- 29:30Speaker 1: materialize out of thin air like blank.
- 29:33Speaker 2: They never built anything in their lives, so they have.
- 29:36Speaker 1: No concept of how things function. Things are just there.
- 29:40Speaker 1: They think milk comes from the store. They think rich
- 29:42Speaker 1: people don't pay taxes. Even though the top 1% fund
- 29:46Speaker 1: 40% of government.
- 29:47Speaker 2: With their taxes already.
- 29:49Speaker 1: And yet 40% of all Americans contribute zero federal income
- 29:53Speaker 1: tax at all. These people don't understand that you can
- 29:57Speaker 1: tax the wealthy at 100% and it would only fund
- 30:00Speaker 1: the government for 120 days. Then you're screwed. Too many
- 30:05Speaker 1: Americans simply have zero understanding of how anything works, and
- 30:09Speaker 1: even though they're living in the easiest times in human history,
- 30:12Speaker 1: they think things are terrible out there. These commie scammers
- 30:15Speaker 1: roll through, and promise them things that sound great but
- 30:19Speaker 1: aren't possible in reality and have devastating consequences if tried,
- 30:23Speaker 1: but because they don't know anything, they fall for it. Sadly,
- 30:26Speaker 1: so many of our politicians and their advisors are such
- 30:29Speaker 1: atrocious communicators, they're like zero countervailing narrative to push back
- 30:33Speaker 1: on the commie gobbledygook, so.
- 30:35Speaker 2: We're going to have to learn the hard way. In conclusion, guys,
- 30:39Speaker 2: we just had a sample of socialism, COVID.
- 30:42Speaker 1: We all got universal basic income, and it ended up
- 30:44Speaker 1: tripling our costs, and they'll never go down, ever. That
- 30:47Speaker 1: one brief little experiment in command and control government will
- 30:50Speaker 1: haunt us the rest of our lives. Bleak stuff, man.
- 30:54Speaker 1: And that's basically Mr. Pratt told you in much more
- 30:59Speaker 1: clear terms everything that I had attempted.
- 31:02Speaker 2: To tell you in the beginning.
- 31:04Speaker 1: And the biggest problem as far as I'm concerned is
- 31:07Speaker 1: these are the people that populate your state legislatures. And
- 31:10Speaker 1: people who are opposed to these people really have maybe a.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Little bit more economic sense, but not much.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I mean, it's what that mindset is proposing is entirely
- 31:25Speaker 1: economically unsustainable. If we taxed all the billionaires 100%, we'd
- 31:30Speaker 1: get three months out of it, and then what? And
- 31:33Speaker 1: it's never, ever, ever worked. And that's basically really the
- 31:37Speaker 1: message that I want you to... If you're not going
- 31:40Speaker 1: to take anything from this show, at least take that. Anyway,
- 31:44Speaker 1: they're going to take me off the air in a moment.
- 31:46Speaker 1: It's Tony D'Angelo, 94.9 News and Stimulating Talk, coming back
- 31:50Speaker 1: with the wonderful world of.

- 37:49Speaker 1: Lazari in the wide world of sports.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Bob, how are you, pal?
- 37:53Speaker 8: I'm good, Tony.
- 37:54Speaker 38: How are you?
- 37:54Speaker 2: Okay, thanks. And where are we going today?
- 37:56Speaker 38: Well, Tony, let's do a little historical stuff first. Very
- 38:00Speaker 38: historical day in baseball, Tony. 1960 World Series on this date.
- 38:05Speaker 38: That's when Bill Mazeroski, Tony, hit the home run in
- 38:08Speaker 38: the bottom of the ninth at Forbes Field to beat
- 38:12Speaker 38: the Yankees 10-9. And that was the deciding game. If
- 38:16Speaker 38: you remember, Tony, the Yankees, Bobby Richardson was the MVP
- 38:19Speaker 38: of that series, even in the losing cause. You and
- 38:22Speaker 38: I have had a chance to talk. to Bobby, and
- 38:25Speaker 38: was there a better, nicer guy than we've ever seen?
- 38:27Speaker 2: Oh, what a gentleman. So kind, so patient.
- 38:31Speaker 38: Had a great career after that, right, Tony? Coaching college
- 38:33Speaker 38: and things like that.
- 38:34Speaker 2: He sure did.
- 38:35Speaker 3: He sure did.
- 38:35Speaker 38: But that was in 1960 on this day, Tony. Very
- 38:38Speaker 38: memorable day. On this day in 1967, Tony, the first
- 38:43Speaker 38: ABA game was played, Tony. You know who was playing
- 38:46Speaker 38: in that game?
- 38:47Speaker 2: I can only imagine.
- 38:48Speaker 38: The Oakland Oaks beat the Anaheim Amigos.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 38:53Speaker 38: 132 to 129.
- 38:54Speaker 2: With the multicolored basketball, yeah.
- 38:58Speaker 38: That's when the red, white, and blue basketball, Tony, and
- 39:00Speaker 38: the three-point field goal. That league, and you and I
- 39:03Speaker 38: have discussed it a lot, that was a lot of
- 39:05Speaker 38: fun to watch. They would show the New York Nets
- 39:07Speaker 38: on Channel 9. Those were the days, Tony. 1967, on
- 39:13Speaker 38: this day, Tony, the Seattle Supersonics lost their first game ever.
- 39:20Speaker 38: They're now the Oklahoma City Thunder, but they lost... that
- 39:24Speaker 38: game to the San Francisco Warriors out in Oakland that day.
- 39:27Speaker 33: 1969, Tony.
- 39:29Speaker 38: One of many firings for Billy Martin. Billy Martin, Tony,
- 39:33Speaker 38: won 97 games for the Twins, and he got fired because,
- 39:37Speaker 38: do you remember the fight he had with Dave Boswell?
- 39:39Speaker 2: I sure do. I remember reading about it in the newspaper.
- 39:42Speaker 38: It was in a bar alley, of course, right? I mean,
- 39:45Speaker 38: it was in the back of a bar in an alley.
- 39:48Speaker 38: They had a disagreement, and even though he almost won
- 39:52Speaker 38: 100 games that year, they did lose in the playoffs.
- 39:54Speaker 38: But he was fired on that day, and we know
- 39:59Speaker 38: about the Yankee firings, which just kind of are still
- 40:02Speaker 38: going on, I think. They never ended, Tony, the firings
- 40:07Speaker 38: of Billy Martin. 1978, Tony, on this day, the first,
- 40:11Speaker 38: the only World Series game I've ever attended. And that
- 40:15Speaker 38: was when Greg Nettles made the incredible stops against the
- 40:19Speaker 38: Dodgers in Game 3. I remember Guidry beating the Dodgers, Tony.
- 40:24Speaker 38: I was just sitting in the back of home play
- 40:26Speaker 38: against the wall, and that propelled the Yankees to win
- 40:30Speaker 38: those four games in a row, and that was on
- 40:33Speaker 38: this day in 1978. As far as birthdays, Tony, on
- 40:37Speaker 38: this day, some NBA players, Derek Harper, former guard for Dallas,
- 40:43Speaker 38: he was the NBA Defensive Player of the Year a
- 40:45Speaker 38: few times. He celebrates Hall of Famers today, Tony. Paul Pierce,
- 40:49Speaker 38: the former Celtics, celebrates. And Doc Rivers, who was a
- 40:54Speaker 38: guard in the league but got in the Hall of
- 40:55Speaker 38: Fame as a coach. And this will bring a smile
- 40:58Speaker 38: to your face, Tony. Reggie Theus, who played for Jerry Tarkanian.
- 41:04Speaker 20: You and I have talked about Theus.
- 41:08Speaker 38: Nevada, Las Vegas, Tony, the fine academic institution under Jerry Tarkanian.
- 41:14Speaker 38: Reggie Theus had a nice NBA career, but he celebrates
- 41:17Speaker 38: a birthday today. As far as NFL birthdays, Tony, I
- 41:21Speaker 38: have a couple big ones today. Two Hall of Famers,
- 41:24Speaker 38: Brian Dawkins, former defensive back for the Eagles. Played a
- 41:28Speaker 38: long time. I think he played 18 years, which is incredible.
- 41:31Speaker 38: Speaking of longevity... Jerry Rice, Tony, celebrates a birthday today,
- 41:36Speaker 38: 64 years old. Now, in the past, Lee and I
- 41:40Speaker 38: have talked about sports records that probably could not be broken. Tony,
- 41:44Speaker 38: his has got to be close, almost 23,000 yards.
- 41:49Speaker 6: Receiving.
- 41:50Speaker 38: And the next closest guy, you know, let's put it
- 41:55Speaker 38: this way, the next closest active guy is Mike Evans, Tony,
- 41:58Speaker 38: who's about 9,000 yards behind, and he's about at the
- 42:02Speaker 38: end of his career. Larry Fitzgerald, I think, is second
- 42:05Speaker 38: on the list. Tony, he's about 6,000 yards behind. So
- 42:09Speaker 38: this record, I mean, you'd have to have a wide
- 42:11Speaker 38: receiver play 20 years, which isn't going to happen, and
- 42:14Speaker 38: average in over 1,000. I mean, his record is right
- 42:17Speaker 38: up there with the unbreakable ones. Probably the best receiver,
- 42:22Speaker 38: without question, the best receiver I've ever seen in my life.
- 42:27Speaker 38: As far as baseball birthday, Tony's born on this day.
- 42:31Speaker 38: You remember the Mets coach, Eddie Yost?
- 42:35Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 42:35Speaker 1: I mean, he was a longtime fixture as far as the, yeah.
- 42:40Speaker 2: I mean, he goes back to the Hodges era.
- 42:43Speaker 38: He did, and he coached third base, Tony. And I
- 42:45Speaker 38: didn't realize as a player back in the day, he
- 42:47Speaker 38: led the American League in walks like six or seven times.
- 42:51Speaker 38: I mean, maybe that's why he became a coach. He
- 42:53Speaker 38: was a fundamentally sound guy. But he was born on
- 42:57Speaker 38: this day in 1926. Tony, you probably remember this guy
- 43:00Speaker 38: better than I do. Born on this day in 1931,
- 43:02Speaker 38: Eddie Matthews, the Hall of Famer for the Braves.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Yeah, saw him play. Saw him play.
- 43:08Speaker 20: Fine player.
- 43:09Speaker 38: 500 home runs and born on this day in 1931.
- 43:11Speaker 38: Remember Bob Beetle Bailey, Tony?
- 43:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:16Speaker 2: He was a bonus baby.
- 43:17Speaker 1: He was part of that thing where if you got
- 43:21Speaker 1: the bonus, you had to stay on the big league
- 43:24Speaker 1: roster for a certain amount of time. He was there
- 43:28Speaker 1: for many, many, many years as a pinch hitter with
- 43:31Speaker 1: a whole bunch of different clubs.
- 43:33Speaker 38: Yeah, out of Long Beach, California. He had a couple
- 43:37Speaker 38: good years for the, you know, he would hit over
- 43:39Speaker 38: 25 home runs, drive in your 80 runs, you know,
- 43:41Speaker 38: solid career. Stuck around 17 years. Actually played his last
- 43:45Speaker 38: year in Boston, believe it or not. But Bob Bailey
- 43:47Speaker 38: was born on this day. That was back in 1942. Scott,
- 43:52Speaker 38: former Red Sox Tony, you know, strange kind of situation.
- 43:56Speaker 38: Scott Cooper was born in 1967 on this day. He's
- 43:58Speaker 38: still a young man of 59 years old. He was
- 44:03Speaker 38: an all-star in 93-94. His problem was he was a
- 44:06Speaker 38: third baseman behind Wade Boggs. But he did make two
- 44:10Speaker 38: all-star teams in a row for Boston. But he was
- 44:14Speaker 38: sent to St. Louis, Tony, and he was out of
- 44:16Speaker 38: baseball by the age of 30. He actually went to
- 44:18Speaker 38: Japan after that. But he celebrates today. And Hall of
- 44:21Speaker 38: Famer Tony Trevor Hoffman, who pitched forever.
- 44:24Speaker 2: Forever.
- 44:25Speaker 38: I think he pitched in relief 18 seasons. Of course,
- 44:28Speaker 38: most of them. with San Diego, and he has over
- 44:31Speaker 38: 600 saves in his career. But he celebrates today. He's
- 44:36Speaker 38: just 59 years old today, Tony.
- 44:39Speaker 1: You know, you go back to that 60 series, and
- 44:41Speaker 1: I remember our pal John Martensky had, back the late
- 44:46Speaker 1: Rich Marazzi, had his baseball show in WICC, and Whitey
- 44:49Speaker 1: Ford was a guest. And John thought he was being very.
- 44:54Speaker 2: You know, shall I say... with great introspection, went to Mr.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Ford and said, you know, Whitey, I felt you should
- 45:03Speaker 1: have started that seventh game.
- 45:07Speaker 2: It would have been a different outcome. And Whitey Ford said, yeah,
- 45:11Speaker 2: you and 25 other guys.
- 45:15Speaker 38: Yeah, that was the old Yankee team, Stoney. But, you know,
- 45:20Speaker 38: I mean, as we talked about that whole farce with
- 45:24Speaker 38: Steinbrenner firing Martin, and they made light.
- 45:26Speaker 20: Beer commercials from it.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Remember, Tony?
- 45:28Speaker 38: It actually became a laughable farce at one point. But
- 45:33Speaker 38: we talked to Billy Martin, Jr., and his father, it
- 45:37Speaker 38: was a very tragic situation, Tony, his entire life, correct?
- 45:40Speaker 38: I mean, alcohol kind of ruined him.
- 45:42Speaker 2: It ruined him at the end and eventually killed him.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Believe it or not, we're coming up to where we're
- 45:47Speaker 1: at a time. It's like the one thought I had
- 45:49Speaker 1: over the weekend was Billy Martin was the most fired
- 45:52Speaker 1: and rehired man in history, passing the record of one
- 45:57Speaker 1: Harry Von Zell and George Burns.
- 46:00Speaker 13: Harry, you're fired.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Anyway, so, Bob, thanks. Thanks for being here as always,
- 46:07Speaker 1: and we'll talk soon. Bob Lazeri in the wonderful world
- 46:09Speaker 1: of sports.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Get ready.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Here it comes, the Power Hour. Swick D'Angelo. You don't
- 46:15Speaker 1: want to miss it. We're coming right back right after this.
- 46:30Speaker 5: He gave me the eye, wanted to pass him by.
- 46:36Speaker 19: I treated him much better, but he didn't seem to mind.
- 46:41Speaker 34: I told him.

- 54:40Speaker 1: Anyway, what you've all been looking forward to, the power hour.
- 54:45Speaker 1: And I've got my pal Bob Swick here.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Bob, good morning. How are you, pal?
- 54:49Speaker 20: Good morning, Tony. How are you?
- 54:50Speaker 2: Fine, fine.
- 54:51Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 54:52Speaker 1: We're fine as fine can be. Anywhere you want to go.
- 54:55Speaker 20: I'm going to pick up a little of what you
- 54:58Speaker 20: mentioned in your opening monologue about the working class debacle
- 55:03Speaker 20: of this handbook of winning the working class by the
- 55:10Speaker 20: socialist organization creating this propaganda more than anything else. Two
- 55:15Speaker 20: points I'd like to make in this booklet is, number one,
- 55:19Speaker 20: they have a definition of working class, and I want
- 55:23Speaker 20: to read it to the audience. and I want to
- 55:25Speaker 20: make a comment on it. And I want to basically, again, reiterate,
- 55:31Speaker 20: I've taught economics and business classes for 44 years now.
- 55:36Speaker 20: And honestly, I have never heard a definition of the
- 55:38Speaker 20: working class such as the following. The working class are
- 55:41Speaker 20: people and families who have to work for a living
- 55:44Speaker 20: and have little or no financial security to fall back
- 55:47Speaker 20: on if they lose their job or are unable to work.
- 55:52Speaker 20: In our research to determine if someone is working class,
- 55:55Speaker 20: we use a formula that factors in family income, education level,
- 55:59Speaker 20: and occupation or type of work. In total, the working
- 56:03Speaker 20: class compromises 63% of the total American electorate. It's a
- 56:08Speaker 20: large group that spans significant diversity. I have no clue,
- 56:13Speaker 20: in all the years I've taught economics, how you could
- 56:17Speaker 20: even create a definition such as that And what is
- 56:21Speaker 20: the actual formula that they are using as far as
- 56:25Speaker 20: family income, education level, and occupation? We live in an
- 56:29Speaker 20: economic system that has such a great diversity to it
- 56:32Speaker 20: as far as jobs, careers, abilities to gain financial security,
- 56:39Speaker 20: to gain wealth, to invest, to save money, so on
- 56:42Speaker 20: and so forth. Where do they come off with this
- 56:45Speaker 20: kind of definition? And again, they have no backing of
- 56:50Speaker 20: their formula. They have no discussion of their formula. They
- 56:53Speaker 20: have no discussion whatsoever other than this is what they're presenting,
- 56:57Speaker 20: and so be it. So 63% of our country is
- 57:02Speaker 20: basically on the road to financial Armageddon, apparently, according to them.
- 57:08Speaker 20: So with this propaganda, they really play into a lot
- 57:12Speaker 20: of people's feelings to a certain degree. Again, those people
- 57:16Speaker 20: who really... you know, don't advocate and or don't understand
- 57:23Speaker 20: in some parts of our economic system. But then again,
- 57:26Speaker 20: at the same time, they're getting a very biased view
- 57:29Speaker 20: of the country, of the world, the limited amount of
- 57:33Speaker 20: news they may get from state-run media, CNN, so on
- 57:37Speaker 20: and so forth. So they're doing a great job of
- 57:42Speaker 20: basically brainwashing many people in our country, especially a lot
- 57:47Speaker 20: of the younger people in the country, saying, you know,
- 57:50Speaker 20: we live in a hopeless economy, a hopeless society. And
- 57:54Speaker 20: the great irony I see in this whole concept of
- 57:59Speaker 20: this party, this working families party, working class party, whatever
- 58:02Speaker 20: you want to call it, is that a lot of
- 58:05Speaker 20: them are a bunch of billionaires and very wealthy people.
- 58:10Speaker 20: There are many wealthy socialists. Bernie Sanders is the poster
- 58:13Speaker 20: child for them. who are telling other people, you know,
- 58:18Speaker 20: you're not getting ahead. You're not going to do anything.
- 58:21Speaker 6: Listen to me.
- 58:21Speaker 20: Listen to me. Even though I'm financially secure, somehow I'm
- 58:26Speaker 20: going to make you financially secure through programs, through government subsidies,
- 58:31Speaker 20: so on and so forth, that have failed our country
- 58:33Speaker 20: for years now. Let's continue to fail them for another generation.
- 58:38Speaker 20: Let's create more hopelessness in our economy. While we're laughing
- 58:42Speaker 20: our heads off and we're vacationing in the Caribbean or
- 58:45Speaker 20: whatever the case might be, it's so sickening it's beyond me.
- 58:49Speaker 20: And I do agree with you 110%. The Republicans should
- 58:52Speaker 20: be all over the world daily to counter this propaganda,
- 58:58Speaker 20: counter this communist socialist propaganda economically that they're forcing the
- 59:02Speaker 20: people of our country.
- 59:05Speaker 2: You know, it was interesting.
- 59:06Speaker 1: I was listening to Kellyanne Conway yesterday. and she made
- 59:10Speaker 1: an excellent point. Now, again, you may love her, you
- 59:13Speaker 1: may hate her. I respect her for her body of
- 59:18Speaker 1: work and what she has done in her life. She
- 59:21Speaker 1: did get a president elected. And she understands elections and
- 59:25Speaker 1: she understands the whatever you want to call it, the mind.
- 59:30Speaker 2: Of the voter.
- 59:31Speaker 3: And she said and she's speaking.
- 59:33Speaker 1: She's not thinking about Connecticut when she says this, but
- 59:36Speaker 1: she says that too many Republicans are playing in the
- 59:40Speaker 1: socialist park, the liberal park, the Democrat park. They don't
- 59:46Speaker 1: talk about the good things that are happening and what
- 59:50Speaker 1: you could do to get to the good things. and
- 59:53Speaker 1: be the good things and do the good things. We
- 59:56Speaker 1: never hear any discussions about that. And here I am
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: sitting here, very privileged to be in this chair, more
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: privileged to be speaking with you. And I'm thinking, you know,
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: as an older individual, Klaus Spittbarth, that I don't want
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: my younger me being told by some political idiot that
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: this is as good as it gets and this is
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: all you're ever going to do and you're limited. And,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: I mean, I ran from that as a young man.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I mean, and I, you know, I left town. I
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: started something different. I mean, this is as un-American, un-spiritual, un-Christian,
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: un-something-or-other that you possibly can do. And I think to
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: your point, Bob, what it is is that it keeps
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: a Bernie Sanders, you know, largely a political, fiscal, total
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: zero incompetent jerk on his high, pedestal forever and ever
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: and ever. Meanwhile, as the masses are just sitting there,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: you know, practically killing each other over a scrap of
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: bread and a drug needle.
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: It's amazing.
- 1:01:04Speaker 8: Exactly.
- 1:01:05Speaker 20: And again, if you just drive around, you know, a city,
- 1:01:08Speaker 20: you drive around a state, you drive around a neighborhood,
- 1:01:12Speaker 20: you look at the economic wealth that you're surrounded with.
- 1:01:15Speaker 20: You look and you go to a store and you
- 1:01:17Speaker 20: see all the different variety of goods and products you
- 1:01:20Speaker 20: can buy. And you just look around you and say,
- 1:01:24Speaker 20: look how blessed, look how fortunate America is to have
- 1:01:28Speaker 20: this kind of wealth, this kind of economic growth, economic development,
- 1:01:34Speaker 20: despite the fact that we have a politically ruling class
- 1:01:37Speaker 20: that wants to take everything away from us. And again,
- 1:01:41Speaker 20: in no denial that there are some people who are
- 1:01:43Speaker 20: less well-off than other people in our economy. But again,
- 1:01:47Speaker 20: when people come from nothing and they create something and
- 1:01:50Speaker 20: they create a lifetime for themselves, a family, they create
- 1:01:54Speaker 20: and buy property. They own assets. They create financial growth
- 1:02:00Speaker 20: and financial wealth. They are living the American dream. And
- 1:02:03Speaker 20: why do so many people want to come into this
- 1:02:06Speaker 20: country legitimately? Because they want to share that economic dream.
- 1:02:10Speaker 20: There is no other country in this world, not only
- 1:02:12Speaker 20: to what any socialist or communist can tell me, that
- 1:02:15Speaker 20: has the economic opportunity that we have in this country
- 1:02:19Speaker 20: should start being thankful of that rather than can getting
- 1:02:24Speaker 20: it and i and i use a point look at
- 1:02:28Speaker 20: christmas he's supposedly a united states senator he does very
- 1:02:33Speaker 20: well in connecticut except the summer drawn through the state
- 1:02:36Speaker 20: that that's very core graph very you know scripted so
- 1:02:39Speaker 20: on and so forth he really doesn't do anything for
- 1:02:41Speaker 20: the people of the state of connecticut He's apparently gaining
- 1:02:45Speaker 20: wealth because I'm sure he's getting donations left and right,
- 1:02:48Speaker 20: and I'm sure he's being taken care of here and there.
- 1:02:52Speaker 20: The taxpayer of America has to pay his salary and
- 1:02:55Speaker 20: his benefits, so on and so forth. And what is
- 1:02:58Speaker 20: he really doing in our country, in our state, economically
- 1:03:04Speaker 20: to benefit us?
- 1:03:05Speaker 9: Zero.
- 1:03:06Speaker 32: Nothing.
- 1:03:06Speaker 20: He's Bernie Sanders Jr. He's just waiting for his payday
- 1:03:09Speaker 20: somewhere so he can be a multimillionaire. and really dictate
- 1:03:13Speaker 20: for the rest of his born days, because he's a
- 1:03:16Speaker 20: senator for life, that you listen to me, you take
- 1:03:20Speaker 20: care of me, and, you know, I'll talk all the
- 1:03:22Speaker 20: propaganda you want. And that is what is inherently wrong
- 1:03:26Speaker 20: today in our economy, and that's what's inherently wrong with
- 1:03:29Speaker 20: the Republican Party, not fighting them tooth and nail about this.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: When you speak of not fighting them tooth and nail,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: and I wholeheartedly agree.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: I don't hear Republicans... I hear a couple like on
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Fox or Fox Business that come on, but they're in
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: the minority. They do not stress to people that, you know,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: if you think what's happening now is bad, if you
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: allow Democrats to rule the roost, your income taxes would
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: have been 20% higher for the past seven or eight years.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: If you allowed the.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: fuel policies and the energy policies that were in place
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: in the first trump administration to remain in place i.e
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: you know the keystone pipeline or things like that the
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: jolt that we're feeling now and yes that is a
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: painful jolt you know it's that uh you know life
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: never promised you a rose garden unfortunately i wish i
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: could i wish i could help you with that if
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: that's what you believe but if If that were allowed,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: it would have been straight a hormones, you know, it's
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: a mere bag of shells because we can do our own.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: We are sufficient.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: Now, the Trump administration has made great strides in doing it,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: would do much better if they had any sort of cooperation.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: They have not been perfect. They have made mistakes. Let's
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: be clear about that. But I think what we're getting
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: at here, I think, is something spiritual. It's something tangible.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: That guy walking in the store, you know, listening to
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: D'Angelo and Slick.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: On the radio, well, you know, you talk about that.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: I can't afford bread.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Bread is whatever the price is, and I can't afford this.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: You know, I want the government to buy my bread,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: and it's like, well, look at it this way. There's
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: two things happening here. Number one, the people who are
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: making the bread, if we're going to use bread as
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: an example, are making money, hopefully, doing the bread and
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: employing people. because people are buying the bread with the
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: resources that they have. Why isn't the question, what do
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: I have to do economically, socially, spiritually, physically, cleaning myself,
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: to buy my own damn bread and not get with
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: some freaking politician who promises me crumbs?
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: That's my thing.
- 1:05:49Speaker 20: Well, you hit on the point of self-sufficiency. And again,
- 1:05:53Speaker 20: if President Trump was allowed to lead in both administrations,
- 1:05:58Speaker 20: we would have seen even greater economic growth than we've seen,
- 1:06:02Speaker 20: and we would have seen self-sufficiency, especially in energy, which
- 1:06:08Speaker 20: is something I have been dealing with since the first
- 1:06:12Speaker 20: energy crisis back in the early 1970s, where I still
- 1:06:17Speaker 20: remember to this day, I was in high school when
- 1:06:19Speaker 20: I was appointed a light monitor. I have to go around.
- 1:06:24Speaker 20: But for a few minutes in between classes and any
- 1:06:27Speaker 20: classes that were empty, you shut the lights off to
- 1:06:29Speaker 20: save energy. So to this day, I shut lights off
- 1:06:33Speaker 20: in the House to save energy because I was in
- 1:06:35Speaker 20: the spill department. But to your point as far as
- 1:06:38Speaker 20: self-sufficiency and to your point of President Trump, yes, I
- 1:06:42Speaker 20: am just sick and tired of hearing how bad President
- 1:06:47Speaker 20: Trump is, blah, blah, blah. And, you know, I lived through,
- 1:06:51Speaker 20: you lived through, Tony, America lived through one of the
- 1:06:53Speaker 20: worst administrations in our country, and that's the Joe Biden administration,
- 1:06:57Speaker 20: which was basically nonfunctional and did more damage to our country.
- 1:07:01Speaker 20: And we'll see the damage continue down the road from
- 1:07:05Speaker 20: what that man did not do and being completely incoherent
- 1:07:08Speaker 20: in office. So we have an election coming up because
- 1:07:12Speaker 20: of the, well, not because of the, we have an
- 1:07:14Speaker 20: election coming up. And I don't see one word coming
- 1:07:18Speaker 20: out of the Democratic Party, how they're going to do
- 1:07:20Speaker 20: anything to make anything more affordable, other than they're saying
- 1:07:24Speaker 20: government will take care of you, government is going to
- 1:07:26Speaker 20: do this, government is going to do that, and President
- 1:07:29Speaker 20: Trump is bad. It's grown tiring. It's the same old story.
- 1:07:33Speaker 20: The Democratic Party is not offering any solutions, especially in Connecticut.
- 1:07:38Speaker 20: And once and for all, and I do believe, and
- 1:07:41Speaker 20: I don't follow all the polls, and I'm not a
- 1:07:44Speaker 20: big believer in polls, especially after the anti-Trump polls that
- 1:07:48Speaker 20: came out over the past couple elections. And I really
- 1:07:51Speaker 20: believe Americans are smart enough to say, why would I
- 1:07:54Speaker 20: vote for a Democrat who wants to bring me into
- 1:07:57Speaker 20: socialism when my grandparents or my great-grandparents fled the Holocaust,
- 1:08:04Speaker 20: fled the Bataan Death March, fled the wars to try
- 1:08:09Speaker 20: to have a peaceful life and have a life of freedom.
- 1:08:12Speaker 20: Why would I want to vote for that again? And
- 1:08:14Speaker 20: I think that's going to be the focal question when
- 1:08:18Speaker 20: people go to vote in November. The brainwashed are brainwashed.
- 1:08:21Speaker 20: They're going to vote Democrat. The devil could be running
- 1:08:25Speaker 20: for office. They'll vote for.
- 1:08:28Speaker 49: Him.
- 1:08:28Speaker 20: And that's written off. But I think the majority of Americans,
- 1:08:31Speaker 20: the majority of the working class, how I define it,
- 1:08:35Speaker 20: are going to vote with their pocketbooks, and they will
- 1:08:38Speaker 20: vote Republican. They'll vote for candidates that are normal, in
- 1:08:43Speaker 20: my opinion, compared to these DSA socialists that are running
- 1:08:46Speaker 20: and want to rule the world and want to create
- 1:08:50Speaker 20: another Cuba here.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: I'm watching, then again, in Connecticut, other than what's done.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: On X or people working hard independently, you can only
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: get bits and pieces from the state-run news. They will
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: show you what they feel they should show you and
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: keep other things deliberately from view. And one of the
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: things that, I mean, and, you know, Lee Elsie and
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: I have discussed this for years, I've discussed this with
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: other people, is there never has been the focused and
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: determined in Connecticut and clear plan for improving New Haven,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: improving Bridgeport, making.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: It better, making it workable, taken by Republicans.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: To the city saying, you've got this, you've got drug addiction,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: you've got, if you want to use the term, sex
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: workers who are off.
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: Of the 91.
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: You've got, you've got, you've got.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: You have one lunatic in the legislature who wants to
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: put up harm reduction centers. No, we don't want to
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: see people killing themselves, but we don't want to turn
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: the streets into Needle Park. Nobody's going to come there
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: if we do that. And, and, and. And it's like,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: where is the focus plan for economic improvement? The other thing,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: the other, the inside out of that is, How do
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: you continue to keep up the charade of beg, borrow, steal,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: go to the federal government, spend on everything, Medicare for all,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: whatever it is, we're going to take care of it.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: We're going to take care of the SNAP. We're going
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: to do any. And you are losing your revenue producing
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: people and your innovators and your higher, more motivated people daily.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: It just doesn't happen without something snapping in between. And
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: they all think like those women, you know, who played
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: the tape between the 630 and 640. Oh, Abdul's got
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: the right idea. This is exactly what we need. How
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: do you pay for it?
- 1:10:58Speaker 35: We don't know, but we need it.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: It's just, listen, you're bombing.
- 1:11:03Speaker 20: Well, that's the problem because a lot of people really
- 1:11:05Speaker 20: don't understand how do you pay for all this. And
- 1:11:07Speaker 20: to your point, I agree with you 110%. We've talked
- 1:11:10Speaker 20: about this a million times over. okay, what's the plan
- 1:11:13Speaker 20: to pay off the state debt? What's the plan to
- 1:11:16Speaker 20: create economic opportunity? Okay, we don't want to use economic
- 1:11:22Speaker 20: enterprise zones because that's Trump, so we're going to come
- 1:11:24Speaker 20: up with something that doesn't work either, and we're just
- 1:11:27Speaker 20: going to do the same thing over and over again
- 1:11:30Speaker 20: to the point that state bonding becomes so excessive that
- 1:11:34Speaker 20: it takes over most of the state budget. Taxes have
- 1:11:37Speaker 20: to be increased. More people who are economically mobile will
- 1:11:41Speaker 20: move out of the state. And whoever's in office is
- 1:11:44Speaker 20: going to say, well, I'm done. Let me get my
- 1:11:46Speaker 20: state job now and get my state pension and get
- 1:11:48Speaker 20: out to a state that doesn't have a state income tax.
- 1:11:51Speaker 20: And sadly, that's what we're on the road to. But again,
- 1:11:55Speaker 20: I do see a lot of lights in this election
- 1:11:57Speaker 20: in Connecticut because there are some new individuals running. who
- 1:12:02Speaker 20: have very good ideas and very good programs that they're
- 1:12:07Speaker 20: talking about that could help the state. Lamont is, to me,
- 1:12:11Speaker 20: just a broken record talking about nothing and just figuring
- 1:12:15Speaker 20: out what's the next profit he can make for his
- 1:12:17Speaker 20: hedge fund. That's all he's turned into.
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: He's a political hack of.
- 1:12:21Speaker 20: The highest nature.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: Unbelievable.

- 1:25:32Speaker 54: right now, temporarily. But, okay, I just really quickly wanted
- 1:25:36Speaker 54: to point out, as a historian, very quickly, working class
- 1:25:41Speaker 54: always used to mean people who made their money from
- 1:25:46Speaker 54: the land, landowning. The working class worked with their hands.
- 1:25:51Speaker 54: The dependent people were children, elderly, and people who, well,
- 1:25:58Speaker 54: back then, you had to take care of yourself. Your
- 1:26:00Speaker 54: community would help you. Now we have, if you think
- 1:26:05Speaker 54: about that, if you've got a mansion down by the water,
- 1:26:09Speaker 54: but if you lose your job, you lose that house,
- 1:26:11Speaker 54: you're working class. So we do have a lot in common,
- 1:26:16Speaker 54: but not in the way that the... The definition Bob
- 1:26:20Speaker 54: was talking about where they parse it finer and finer
- 1:26:22Speaker 54: and finer so everybody can fight with each other. But
- 1:26:26Speaker 54: I wanted to say, I know talking with friends, I
- 1:26:29Speaker 54: have friends who have done very well and are very
- 1:26:33Speaker 54: secure financially, as much as you can be in this world,
- 1:26:38Speaker 54: and they've always known how to handle money. And I
- 1:26:41Speaker 54: have other friends who've never, ever been able to handle money,
- 1:26:45Speaker 54: and they're going into old age with nothing. And I
- 1:26:48Speaker 54: think the problem is family literacy or financial literacy. And
- 1:26:56Speaker 54: if you don't get that in your family, you're certainly
- 1:26:59Speaker 54: not getting in the schools. How can we address this problem?
- 1:27:04Speaker 54: Because the people who are most in debt in this country,
- 1:27:09Speaker 54: which is almost everybody, they can't handle their own money.
- 1:27:15Speaker 54: How in the world? Can they decide how to manage
- 1:27:19Speaker 54: government money?
- 1:27:21Speaker 20: Well, the one thing I've always requested over the years,
- 1:27:25Speaker 20: I've fought for over the years, in a high school curriculum,
- 1:27:29Speaker 20: you teach finance 101, basics of finance, how to balance
- 1:27:33Speaker 20: a checkbook, how to pay bills, so on and so forth.
- 1:27:36Speaker 20: Some schools are starting to do that. So I see,
- 1:27:39Speaker 20: because I'm still teaching, I do see some financial literacy
- 1:27:42Speaker 20: in young people. And I do see a lot of
- 1:27:45Speaker 20: young people, especially in my classes, because they are in
- 1:27:49Speaker 20: the class, they're trying to better themselves economically and financially.
- 1:27:53Speaker 20: I do agree with you 100 percent. We do have
- 1:27:55Speaker 20: a lot of financial illiteracy within our economy and within
- 1:27:59Speaker 20: our society. I think a lot of it is basically
- 1:28:03Speaker 20: forced upon us by elected officials, because the less you know,
- 1:28:07Speaker 20: the more they can pull off and the more they
- 1:28:09Speaker 20: can do. Ed Lamont is the greatest example of that,
- 1:28:12Speaker 20: in my opinion. But getting to your point, I do
- 1:28:15Speaker 20: believe a mandated high school program of one, two, three classes,
- 1:28:20Speaker 20: whatever it may be, where you have to take these
- 1:28:23Speaker 20: classes and you will learn and you will understand. And, Jan,
- 1:28:27Speaker 20: I can honestly say over the years I've had many
- 1:28:31Speaker 20: of my students ask me financial advice about buying a home,
- 1:28:35Speaker 20: buying a car, careers, so on and so forth, and
- 1:28:38Speaker 20: I've given them honest advice. about it, and I know
- 1:28:41Speaker 20: I've helped some students with it, and other students aren't helpful,
- 1:28:46Speaker 20: put it that way. It's still a problem, but I
- 1:28:50Speaker 20: think that can be overcome, in my opinion.
- 1:28:54Speaker 54: I do, too. I mean, I will never forget seeing
- 1:28:57Speaker 54: Susie Orman testify at a Senate hearing when Ted Kennedy
- 1:29:03Speaker 54: was still alive and he was there. And she was
- 1:29:06Speaker 54: talking about student loans, student debt. And she said, you know,
- 1:29:10Speaker 54: the students don't understand they have to pay the loan
- 1:29:13Speaker 54: back with interest. And I'll never forget the look on
- 1:29:15Speaker 54: Ted Kennedy's face. He said, students in college don't understand
- 1:29:21Speaker 54: that basic that they're going to have to pay that
- 1:29:24Speaker 54: back with interesting she said no they just get the
- 1:29:27Speaker 54: money they don't understand and i thought wow the uh
- 1:29:35Speaker 54: well thank you.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: Oh thanks you know it's um i um i guess
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: this is my week to be biblical the uh i
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: um if you have nothing to do you can go
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: to um talk red on talk red media on twitter
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: they exerted my uh whatever you want to call it,
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: my mini lecture on how communism cannot work as determined
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: by the book of Acts. And Peter and Paul, they
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: had the riot with the widows, and they tried to
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: make all things common, and the people were just piggy
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: andy and in. But to Jan's point, Bob, the way
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: taxation was supposed to be, the book of Genesis, or
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: I think it's Genesis 49. I may not know anything
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: else in the Bible, but it was supposed to be
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: the fifth to Pharaoh. 20% goes to the municipality for
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: the sake of the municipality or the community.
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: Well, how are you going to take care of the poor?
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: Well, that was supposed to be the temple tax, the tie, 10%.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: Leaving you 70%. Now, it's like you get politicians, bureaucrats, crybabies, hangers-on,
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: everything else. And then, I mean, now we're fighting the
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: south side of a dollar.
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: I mean, do we get to keep 35%, 40%? And
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: then they want more? It's insane.
- 1:30:52Speaker 20: Well, the more tax money that they gain, the more
- 1:30:55Speaker 20: control they have over you.
- 1:30:56Speaker 23: Exactly.
- 1:30:57Speaker 20: That's what it comes down to. The less of your
- 1:30:58Speaker 20: personal income you have control over, the more government has
- 1:31:02Speaker 20: control over you. That's a simple concept. It's a simple idea.
- 1:31:07Speaker 20: It's in practice everywhere we look in our country. And
- 1:31:11Speaker 20: at the same time, again, I reiterate, with the election
- 1:31:14Speaker 20: coming up, the Democrats are going to cut taxes. I
- 1:31:17Speaker 20: find that hard to believe. They're not. They have no
- 1:31:19Speaker 20: desire to.
- 1:31:21Speaker 37: But.
- 1:31:21Speaker 20: You still have to somehow overcome, and many people overcome,
- 1:31:29Speaker 20: the grip of government, the grip of regulation, the grip
- 1:31:33Speaker 20: of whatever, and they become economically successful in our economy.
- 1:31:39Speaker 20: We all have that opportunity. We are given that opportunity.
- 1:31:43Speaker 20: We are given an opportunity to learn about finance ourselves,
- 1:31:46Speaker 20: to study, to read. And I think a big problem
- 1:31:49Speaker 20: today that I see is that the attention spans of
- 1:31:54Speaker 20: young people have become a ten-second snippet because they're being
- 1:31:58Speaker 20: constantly bombarded online with, you know, pop-up ads, just, you know,
- 1:32:04Speaker 20: 20 words here, 20 words there, so on and so forth.
- 1:32:07Speaker 20: So they have difficulty rationalizing and comprehending any type of decision,
- 1:32:11Speaker 20: and especially a long-term decision, as far as financial concerns go.
- 1:32:17Speaker 20: borrowing money, buying a car, buying a home, so on
- 1:32:20Speaker 20: and so forth. So there are a lot of factors
- 1:32:23Speaker 20: in our economy working against financial literacy, working against financial success,
- 1:32:28Speaker 20: yet at the same time, in my opinion, have the
- 1:32:31Speaker 20: equal amount of factors working for financial success, for financial literacy,
- 1:32:37Speaker 20: for financial well-being and financial growth, so on and so forth.
- 1:32:42Speaker 20: So we have to turn, because we are in the
- 1:32:45Speaker 20: minority apparently, we have to turn the debate to them
- 1:32:50Speaker 20: and say, listen, your taxes aren't really helping anybody. Your
- 1:32:54Speaker 20: taxes are not going to where they're supposed to go.
- 1:32:56Speaker 20: Your taxes are going to fraud. Your taxes are going
- 1:32:59Speaker 20: to overspending. Your taxes are going to political cronies. And
- 1:33:04Speaker 20: this is wrong. This is against our economy, against our
- 1:33:07Speaker 20: political system, against our spirituality at the same time. Let's
- 1:33:12Speaker 20: call it for what it is, once and for all.
- 1:33:15Speaker 20: We're not going to get ahead in our economy with
- 1:33:18Speaker 20: a Democratic Party that is so hell-bent on destroying our economy,
- 1:33:24Speaker 20: destroying financial growth, and controlling all the wealth themselves. We're
- 1:33:27Speaker 20: not going to get ahead with that. There's no way
- 1:33:30Speaker 20: it's possible. Contrary to what they're trying to say, contrary
- 1:33:33Speaker 20: to what the elitist and our state-run media are trying
- 1:33:36Speaker 20: to tell us, it's not going to work. I think
- 1:33:39Speaker 20: we can overcome it by our communicating our ideas that, hey,
- 1:33:44Speaker 20: we're doing good. I have had a good life. I
- 1:33:47Speaker 20: have been able to create economic wealth in my lifetime.
- 1:33:51Speaker 20: And you know what? I did not come from money.
- 1:33:53Speaker 20: I did not come from an elitist family. I did
- 1:33:55Speaker 20: not come from a loyalty in any way, shape, or form.
- 1:33:58Speaker 20: I worked for what I had in my life. My
- 1:34:01Speaker 20: wife and I have worked for what we have. And
- 1:34:03Speaker 20: we're not ashamed to say it. And I think that's
- 1:34:07Speaker 20: the one thing. Wealth is not bad. I don't care
- 1:34:10Speaker 20: what anybody says. If you have wealth, all the power
- 1:34:13Speaker 20: to you. That's great. If you've made that wealth legitimately
- 1:34:16Speaker 20: through investments, through hard work, through savings, you did it.
- 1:34:20Speaker 20: And there's nothing wrong with that.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: I think if, and I'm saying this to every single
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: Republican who is in-state, out-of-state, on Earth, in Mars, in Venus, whatever,
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: Take the last three minutes of this Power Hour and.
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: Take it, listen to it, listen to.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: What Bob said about what you should be focused on,
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: what you should be drilling on, what you should be
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: telling people as far as this is what they want
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: to do to you and this is what you can
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: do for yourself.
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: Now, make that choice. Make that choice.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: It's Do you really trust them to do for you
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: what they said they would do, considering they're never truthful
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: about anything that they tell you, basically. It's just one
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: lie after another. Take that snippet. Just don't even listen
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: to the rest of this power error. Take that snippet
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: and drill yourself on it. And, I mean, that's the
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: formula for success right there, Bob.
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: That's it.
- 1:35:30Speaker 20: I agree. I mean, you have to communicate a message correctly.
- 1:35:34Speaker 20: that we live in the greatest country in the world,
- 1:35:36Speaker 20: contrary to the naysayers. We live in the only country
- 1:35:39Speaker 20: in the world, in my opinion, when you have the
- 1:35:41Speaker 20: ability for economic growth, economic wealth, to be whatever you
- 1:35:46Speaker 20: want to be in life. You can create a business.
- 1:35:50Speaker 20: You can create careers. You can do so much in
- 1:35:53Speaker 20: our economy. And if you look around you.
- 1:35:56Speaker 6: Look at the wealth.
- 1:35:57Speaker 20: Look at the beauty we have. of the ability to
- 1:36:01Speaker 20: live in a home, live in a condo, to get
- 1:36:03Speaker 20: into your own private car and drive where you need
- 1:36:06Speaker 20: to go, to go into that store and pick any
- 1:36:08Speaker 20: product you need possible under the sun. There's so much
- 1:36:13Speaker 20: to be thankful for in our economy. We live in
- 1:36:16Speaker 20: such a great economy, such a great country. Why are
- 1:36:21Speaker 20: the Democrats condemning it? Why? Give me that answer.
- 1:36:26Speaker 6: They can't.
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: They can't.
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: It's... it's an amazing thing.
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: And I mean, and I think to Jan's point, you know,
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: earlier in this half hour, which is what do you
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: do to teach children? Now, the biggest fall off on this,
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: as far as I'm concerned, political systems just been awful
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: with it. But I think our houses of worship, our
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: Christian churches are, I've never been a practicing Jewish person,
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: so I don't know what goes on in the temple.
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: These are things that could be taught in Sunday school.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: These are things that can be taught to children. These
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: are things to tell them early on that economics is
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: not a lottery ticket. Economics is not the prediction market
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: or a bet on a football game. Or you make $ 5, 000
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: and you go to Aruba and blow it with your girlfriend.
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: That is not economics.
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: Economics is building something for yourself that the people can't
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: screw up, the politicians can't screw up, The system cannot
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: screw up. If having your own means of economics, of
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: your own means of production, this is what I say
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: to people. I've been telling people for years. Some days
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: my job is hell. Some days I say, why am
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: I doing this? Why am I putting up with this?
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: Why do I, you know, it's the pain of dealing
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: with the idiocies, the bureaucracies, The clients, sometimes they're lovely people.
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: They go out and do stupid things and you've got
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: to back up.
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: All that said, but here's the big thing, Bob.
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: No one can take my job away from me.
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: No one.
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: Other than me, no one can take it away from me.
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: And that is the thing that is so lost, I think,
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: upon everybody. Get a system in place that nobody can.
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: Take from you.
- 1:38:16Speaker 20: Exactly. And again, you were given an opportunity to look
- 1:38:20Speaker 20: at what you did in your career, look at what
- 1:38:22Speaker 20: you did in your lifetime, look at the economic growth,
- 1:38:25Speaker 20: the economic stimulation you created. It's such a beautiful thing.
- 1:38:30Speaker 20: that it has to be, you know, ripped apart all
- 1:38:33Speaker 20: the time. It just really saddens me to the point,
- 1:38:36Speaker 20: you know, I didn't spend 44 years trying to teach
- 1:38:39Speaker 20: economics and business classes to see our economy and our
- 1:38:44Speaker 20: political system end up the way it's ending up right now.
- 1:38:47Speaker 20: That is inherently wrong. They are wrong in their message.
- 1:38:51Speaker 20: The Democratic Party, the socialists in this country running for office,
- 1:38:55Speaker 20: they are absolutely wrong 110%. They do not deserve to
- 1:38:58Speaker 20: be in office. They deserve to be in Cuba. They
- 1:39:01Speaker 20: deserve to be in the most communist country in the
- 1:39:06Speaker 20: world and see what it really is like.
- 1:39:10Speaker 3: They're what bothers me.
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: And this is the whole thing, when politicians go around,
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: and this goes, I mean, maybe it's a 60-40 Democrat-Republican or, you.
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: Know, whatever.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: It's not entirely a Democrat thing, but it's largely Democrat-driven.
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: I have a neighbor. I met this neighbor. Actually, he
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: moved closer to me after he had $ 150, 000 worth of
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: income tax debt.
- 1:39:35Speaker 53: He just....
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: He had issues and he didn't pay his income taxes.
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: Very good at filing his returns, just couldn't pay his tax.
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: So we went and we compromised his tax. And I
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: said to the officers, hey, look, this guy, you know,
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: he's in his 30s. Do you want to have your
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: foot on his neck forever? Do you want him to
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: be productive? And I convinced the officer, you know, he
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: gave me a couple of things. I said, yes, we
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: will make him productive when that happened. He started to
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: run a very profitable side business, farming, trucking, assisting.
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: I mean, we were paying him to do our stuff.
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: So what happens? Joe Biden.
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: Joe Biden comes and makes the fuel prices so damned high,
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: he can't work anymore. And he has to sell his
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: truck and sell his equipment. And it's like, look at
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: all these wonderful things. And it's like, well, where is that,
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: you know, I mean, my local representatives, forget it.
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: I mean, you know, entirely useless.
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: Where is that economic advocate for him saying, look, you're
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: crushing these small business people.
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: People are far ahead.
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: And it's like we're doing nothing to keep them in
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: business and destroy the, you know, to make the progress
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: of these people go forward. And it's like after some work,
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: you know, got him back. But, of course, that happens
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: under a Republican administration. And it's like all this stuff
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: going back and forth. And it's let– and this is
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: the whole thing. Let people be people. Let people do
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: their own economics.
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: Make these things.
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: Don't make stupid political decisions that we all have to
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: pay for, you know, in.
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: The sake of the– of the greater good or the
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: flora and fauna or whatever.
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: I'm not anti-environment, believe me, but it's just I get
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: so tired of it. And then these politicians want to
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: praise you. Look at all these wonderful. No, you're the
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: guys that are killing us, frankly.
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: Anyway, sorry about that.
- 1:41:34Speaker 20: And, again, they have to realize, which they don't, small
- 1:41:37Speaker 20: businesses are the backbone of our economy.
- 1:41:39Speaker 9: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:41:40Speaker 20: As much as large businesses are the backbone of our economy,
- 1:41:42Speaker 20: every business is the backbone of our economy. Every business
- 1:41:46Speaker 20: creates economic growth, economic stimulation, economic wealth. It creates income.
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: It creates jobs.
- 1:41:52Speaker 20: It creates prosperity.
- 1:41:54Speaker 6: It creates hope.
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: Right down the line. And guess what? Another Power Hour
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: in the books. Can you believe it?
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: I think we're just getting started. Bob, thank you so much.
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: It was a wonderful session today, and we'll see you
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: back here next week, pal.
- 1:42:08Speaker 3: Really appreciate it.
- 1:42:09Speaker 20: Thanks for having me on, Tony.

- 1:57:02Speaker 20: I mean, wow.

- 1:57:26Speaker 2: Have not.
- 1:57:26Speaker 11: Oh, boy.
- 1:57:27Speaker 35: Wow. So there's been a lot going on. And I'll
- 1:57:30Speaker 35: be honest with you, it's not been dialed in, but
- 1:57:32Speaker 35: this is important. People are going to say, oh, it's racist.
- 1:57:35Speaker 35: You're going after the Somalis. It's payback. Well, I think
- 1:57:39Speaker 35: there's a person at Pennsylvania Avenue who really understands the
- 1:57:42Speaker 35: concept of political persecution, you know, and all these investigations
- 1:57:47Speaker 35: to nowhere. But this could have teeth. And if Ilyan Omar,
- 1:57:52Speaker 35: the congresswoman from Minnesota, is she from Minnesota? Yeah, you know,
- 1:57:56Speaker 35: fraud and all kinds of things, and they're doing searches.
- 1:57:59Speaker 35: And when there is a warrant, and so for those
- 1:58:01Speaker 35: who might be confused, okay, this was a federal court
- 1:58:05Speaker 35: judge issuing a warrant in liberal Washington, D.C., where I
- 1:58:08Speaker 35: will be next week.
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:58:10Speaker 35: I'll be down in Arlington in Washington, D.C., visiting my family.
- 1:58:13Speaker 35: But I'll tell you, this is different than the FISA court, okay?
- 1:58:17Speaker 35: So why is it okay for a warrant to be issued.
- 1:58:19Speaker 2: By this judge?
- 1:58:19Speaker 35: And then you're critical of the FISA court warrants that
- 1:58:22Speaker 35: happened under FBI Director Comey. Well, this is a federal judge,
- 1:58:27Speaker 35: and you have to show probable cause. Having been there,
- 1:58:30Speaker 35: I am a retired judge and a lawyer. I know
- 1:58:31Speaker 35: a little bit about that because, gosh, I reviewed those
- 1:58:34Speaker 35: things as a prosecutor, as a judge. You have to
- 1:58:37Speaker 35: find a basis that they're more probable than not evidence
- 1:58:42Speaker 35: of a crime, that the target, it's narrow and focused,
- 1:58:47Speaker 35: and we'll see what happens. But I guarantee you people
- 1:58:49Speaker 35: on both sides are going to line up and say
- 1:58:52Speaker 35: this is a partisan witch hunt. This is all about
- 1:58:54Speaker 35: the midterms and everything. There's a lot of bad stuff.
- 1:58:57Speaker 35: If anybody cannot conclude that there was massive misuse of
- 1:59:01Speaker 35: funds in the state of Minnesota with all that money.
- 1:59:03Speaker 35: There's something terribly wrong with you. Even the most ardent
- 1:59:07Speaker 35: left-wing liberal progressive, when you see the money and where
- 1:59:11Speaker 35: it went, this big vacuous thing, and Tim Walz being governor,
- 1:59:16Speaker 35: and how about Amy Klobuchar? I actually admired Amy Klobuchar.
- 1:59:20Speaker 35: She was a prosecutor. Is she like hiding under the bedsheets?
- 1:59:24Speaker 35: This senior Minnesota senator who ran for president of the
- 1:59:29Speaker 35: united states yes she did she's nowhere to be found
- 1:59:31Speaker 35: you know this is political but it's also legal because
- 1:59:35Speaker 35: we don't want a system of two-tiered justice what you
- 1:59:38Speaker 35: know it's what's good for them the elites get away
- 1:59:41Speaker 35: with everything and they claim that about the trump family
- 1:59:43Speaker 35: and all well what's going on here you get to
- 1:59:46Speaker 35: congress and now you're immune whether you're ocasio-cortez whether you're
- 1:59:50Speaker 35: ilian omar very bad and this dovetails now into connecticut
- 1:59:55Speaker 35: politics you know And this it's like, does anybody care?
- 1:59:59Speaker 35: I keep talking about that. And I don't mean to
- 2:00:01Speaker 35: bum bum out people. But is this the year that
- 2:00:04Speaker 35: people turn out? Corrupticate? You know, now we've got Costas
- 2:00:07Speaker 35: Diamantis filing lawsuits from Greece. It's almost the epitome of hubris.
- 2:00:12Speaker 35: You got somebody who doesn't show up for a sentencing.
- 2:00:15Speaker 35: And Judge Underhill gives him seven years for 21 bribery counts.
- 2:00:19Speaker 35: And he's got such a toad.
- 2:00:21Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 2:00:22Speaker 35: Assuming because I said he has a toad. He files
- 2:00:24Speaker 35: a lawsuit because he's getting his suspension, his pension taken away.
- 2:00:30Speaker 35: And he's got all this exception. Apparently now he's going
- 2:00:32Speaker 35: to appeal.
- 2:00:34Speaker 2: Appeal.
- 2:00:34Speaker 35: And that's his right. He's right. But, you know, this
- 2:00:36Speaker 35: is not a person presumed to be innocent. He was
- 2:00:40Speaker 35: found guilty of 21 felony counts. So where is this going?
- 2:00:44Speaker 35: We are really in Sinclair Lewis. Up is down and
- 2:00:47Speaker 35: down is up, Tom.
- 2:00:48Speaker 27: Wow.
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: I'm going to ask two very, actually, one for me
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: and a question I get a lot. And I get this,
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: why is Tim Walls still there?
- 2:01:01Speaker 2: Oh, gosh, yeah.
- 2:01:01Speaker 35: Why does he still have a job? How come he's
- 2:01:04Speaker 35: not in the bread line? I don't know if I
- 2:01:06Speaker 35: would trust him on the gravy at the chicken dinner
- 2:01:09Speaker 35: on Sunday at Catholic Charities. Because he would be kiting
- 2:01:12Speaker 35: a little jar for somebody else. These people, oh my gosh.
- 2:01:17Speaker 35: And I'm no moral high ground, but when it walks
- 2:01:21Speaker 35: like a duck, quacks like a duck, you can finish
- 2:01:24Speaker 35: the sentence, right? It's like, how do these people have anything?
- 2:01:27Speaker 35: I mean, I wouldn't trust them for dog catcher. And
- 2:01:31Speaker 35: yet they're in office. These people are still in. They
- 2:01:33Speaker 35: haven't been run out. Never mind. Twenty fifth amendment.
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:01:36Speaker 2: This is terrible.
- 2:01:38Speaker 35: So this is what goes on. And in Connecticut, people
- 2:01:40Speaker 35: look the other way. Attorney General Tong, he doesn't want
- 2:01:43Speaker 35: to investigate anything. You know, we'll see where the two
- 2:01:46Speaker 35: hundred and eighty million dollars from Meta Facebook goes. It's
- 2:01:50Speaker 35: all campaigning. It's all jockeying. No, nothing to see here.
- 2:01:53Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:01:54Speaker 35: But people are saying, you wonder. I'm going to talk
- 2:01:57Speaker 35: about Connecticut Insider for a second. They're doing expose after expose.
- 2:02:01Speaker 35: Is it having traction? Eyeballs, I think, are noticing. You know,
- 2:02:05Speaker 35: some of these candidates are saying outlandish things. And is
- 2:02:09Speaker 35: the Connecticut electorate waking up? Are we just dumb, stupid,
- 2:02:13Speaker 35: and happy? Or we just keep writing checks? Or are
- 2:02:17Speaker 35: we going to say, time out? What's going on here?
- 2:02:20Speaker 3: Second question.
- 2:02:21Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:02:22Speaker 1: Costas Diamantis files an appeal from Greece. He's on the
- 2:02:26Speaker 1: lam as we, those of us that watch a lot
- 2:02:30Speaker 1: of gangster movies and hung out in Stanford in the 60s.
- 2:02:34Speaker 1: How does he do the appeal if he's, how does
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: he show up for his date in court?
- 2:02:41Speaker 35: Something's not adding up here. Actually, you're fascinating me because
- 2:02:45Speaker 35: I had a situation just a week ago in Superior Court.
- 2:02:48Speaker 35: I had a hearing and the judge was on the bench.
- 2:02:50Speaker 35: I won't mention names and And somebody didn't show up,
- 2:02:53Speaker 35: and he said to me, it's ready to zero. Is
- 2:02:55Speaker 35: there any request? And he was inviting a default judgment
- 2:02:58Speaker 35: because when you don't show up for things, you can
- 2:03:00Speaker 35: get a default. I think the judge can actually say,
- 2:03:03Speaker 35: wait a minute, and the appellate court can say, you
- 2:03:05Speaker 35: don't have standing, okay? We have a concept under the law,
- 2:03:09Speaker 35: and you know this because you're a trained lawyer, the
- 2:03:11Speaker 35: doctrine of unclean hands. You come in to my court.
- 2:03:16Speaker 35: You don't show up for sentencing. You're over in Greece
- 2:03:18Speaker 35: having a, you know, a Rob Roy sitting– Oceanside or
- 2:03:22Speaker 35: near the Mediterranean. And you don't have standing. You're defaulted
- 2:03:26Speaker 35: for not showing up. You've been sentenced to seven years.
- 2:03:29Speaker 35: Maybe if you come back into the country, you might
- 2:03:32Speaker 35: have standing. So the judge could, the panel, the appellate court,
- 2:03:35Speaker 35: this is interesting. I think the government will pursue, I
- 2:03:38Speaker 35: say government, the state of Connecticut should pursue that. But
- 2:03:42Speaker 35: is it going to be a bad headline? Will William
- 2:03:45Speaker 35: Tong stand down until after November? Because he doesn't want
- 2:03:49Speaker 35: a bad headline, which will illustrate the malfeasance, the nonfeasance,
- 2:03:54Speaker 35: the hiding under a rock attitude that we have in Connecticut.
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: But, again, I'm asking dumb questions, but consider the source.
- 2:04:01Speaker 1: Once he comes over into the United States of America,
- 2:04:04Speaker 1: isn't it like handcuffed city at that point?
- 2:04:06Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely.
- 2:04:07Speaker 35: They put the bracelets. He goes on to the federal
- 2:04:09Speaker 35: pen somewhere.
- 2:04:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:04:11Speaker 35: Some place for nonviolent offenders.
- 2:04:13Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:04:14Speaker 35: And that kind of thing.
- 2:04:15Speaker 13: Leavenworth, perhaps.
- 2:04:16Speaker 35: Maybe Danbury. You know, I do know a guy who
- 2:04:19Speaker 35: went to prison in Danbury. He was a broker at
- 2:04:22Speaker 35: a local brokerage firm 45 years ago. Got caught in
- 2:04:25Speaker 35: a thing.
- 2:04:25Speaker 8: I remember the guy.
- 2:04:27Speaker 35: We won't mention names. Because he was in a London office.
- 2:04:30Speaker 35: And he came back. You know what? He was 18
- 2:04:32Speaker 35: pounds lighter. And he told me he improved.
- 2:04:34Speaker 8: His tennis game.
- 2:04:35Speaker 35: And which reminds me of a war story. But that's
- 2:04:38Speaker 35: what goes on in low-security federal prison. They learn Chuck Colson,
- 2:04:44Speaker 35: the former hatchet man for Richard Nixon.
- 2:04:46Speaker 2: I heard him preach, yes.
- 2:04:47Speaker 35: And he became a pastor. He found Jesus. And he
- 2:04:51Speaker 35: was a real bad guy. So he had a lot
- 2:04:52Speaker 35: of making up to do. So that's what happens in prison.
- 2:04:55Speaker 35: We'll see if he comes back. But, again, we scratch
- 2:04:58Speaker 35: our heads. And does anybody care? Does anybody follow what's
- 2:05:01Speaker 35: going on?
- 2:05:02Speaker 1: It seemed like it was this blip and everybody wanted
- 2:05:05Speaker 1: to talk to him. And I think to your point,
- 2:05:07Speaker 1: it's just kind of gone to the south side of nothingness.
- 2:05:10Speaker 35: Yeah, that's what happened. So now we've got several weeks.
- 2:05:12Speaker 35: We have a call maybe or we have some inquiry. But,
- 2:05:16Speaker 35: you know, do people care? We got a question from
- 2:05:19Speaker 35: a listener slash viewer.
- 2:05:21Speaker 1: And I'm trying to let me get here. And actually,
- 2:05:28Speaker 1: the note I have is... Amy Klobuchar, this is more
- 2:05:32Speaker 1: of a statement, I believe, let Derek Chauvin off several
- 2:05:35Speaker 1: times before George Floyd. I'm just trying to, believe me,
- 2:05:42Speaker 1: I didn't follow it.
- 2:05:43Speaker 35: When she was a prosecutor?
- 2:05:44Speaker 2: Yeah, interesting.
- 2:05:45Speaker 35: Okay, so I think I know what the caller, the
- 2:05:48Speaker 35: listener is saying. Because, you know, Amy Klobuchar, again, they
- 2:05:53Speaker 35: run when there's inconvenient news. Is there a statute of
- 2:05:57Speaker 35: limitations on Costas?
- 2:05:59Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 2:05:59Speaker 35: I'm going to be honest. I don't know. But I'll
- 2:06:01Speaker 35: say this. It's awfully close in time. And we could
- 2:06:04Speaker 35: not go get P. Takas Veliotis, who fled. It was
- 2:06:08Speaker 35: about 1985.
- 2:06:08Speaker 28: Yeah.
- 2:06:09Speaker 35: I think he died in Greece. So the problem is
- 2:06:12Speaker 35: when you have countries without extradition agreements, they're kind of safe.
- 2:06:16Speaker 35: Why did all the Nazis go to Brazil? Remember boys
- 2:06:19Speaker 35: from Brazil?
- 2:06:19Speaker 2: I do remember.
- 2:06:20Speaker 35: And I will tell you, I was involved in a
- 2:06:22Speaker 35: case involving a Russian officer. They're not only Nazis. That's
- 2:06:26Speaker 35: where the KGB end up. I had a case some
- 2:06:28Speaker 35: years ago where someone was killed in Hartford, and I
- 2:06:32Speaker 35: was dealing with folks from Russia and Argentina. This is
- 2:06:37Speaker 35: where spies go, and you can't touch them. They're down there.
- 2:06:40Speaker 35: They're MC Hammer. They're parachute pants. I'm dating myself. Lee
- 2:06:45Speaker 35: Elsie will know what I'm talking about. You can't touch this, right?
- 2:06:48Speaker 35: So you may not be able to get these guys. So,
- 2:06:51Speaker 35: you know, more of the same. Are we becoming a laughingstock?
- 2:06:55Speaker 35: A laughingstock, you know? Can I talk about– I don't know.
- 2:06:58Speaker 35: I'm not going to talk about a politician, but recently
- 2:07:01Speaker 35: there was a political thing where politicians were seen laughing.
- 2:07:05Speaker 35: And I won't even– laughing about something, calling people idiots
- 2:07:09Speaker 35: and stupid or, you know, not good stuff. Is that
- 2:07:14Speaker 35: the way– is that the look we want for Connecticut?
- 2:07:16Speaker 35: You know, it's out there. You can find it. And
- 2:07:19Speaker 35: I just don't think it's a good look when we
- 2:07:21Speaker 35: have a governor or other people calling people idiots. I
- 2:07:24Speaker 35: say this applies to both sides.
- 2:07:25Speaker 2: I don't want Republicans to call people idiots. I agree
- 2:07:27Speaker 2: with you.
- 2:07:27Speaker 35: I don't want Democrats. Do we have any civility left?
- 2:07:31Speaker 3: Well, is it civility a major point?
- 2:07:34Speaker 1: But the thing is we used to go in November
- 2:07:38Speaker 1: and say after November we will now do the business
- 2:07:41Speaker 1: of the people because the country is.
- 2:07:43Speaker 3: First, the state is first, let us do that.
- 2:07:46Speaker 1: Now it's just become– I'm going to do for my people,
- 2:07:49Speaker 1: and this is what I'm going to do, and everybody
- 2:07:52Speaker 1: else can go screw because they're idiots.
- 2:07:55Speaker 2: Morons, deplorables, on and on.
- 2:07:56Speaker 35: Well, it brings back to that whole Hillary Clinton deplorables,
- 2:08:01Speaker 35: where the deplorables, you know, go get your pitchforks and
- 2:08:04Speaker 35: cling to your pitchforks and crosses, and this division of people.
- 2:08:07Speaker 2: It's really sad.
- 2:08:08Speaker 35: It's sad. And I think we're better than that, right?
- 2:08:11Speaker 35: It sounds cliche. We're going to appeal to our better
- 2:08:13Speaker 35: angels today. You know, I'm going to repeat my wife.
- 2:08:17Speaker 35: She's going to love this, right? A person shows his
- 2:08:20Speaker 35: or her character in one moment when no one is looking.
- 2:08:25Speaker 35: That's the real. That's what I try to teach my kids.
- 2:08:27Speaker 35: Do the right thing even though no one is looking.
- 2:08:30Speaker 35: That's called honor, right? That was in the movie Rob Roy.
- 2:08:33Speaker 35: And when you catch somebody doing something like that, it's
- 2:08:38Speaker 35: just not good. It's a reflection on character. Does character matter?
- 2:08:42Speaker 35: For all you Democrats out there that say character matters
- 2:08:44Speaker 35: about Donald Trump. Republicans who say character matters. Well, ask yourself,
- 2:08:48Speaker 35: you know, if people are honorable, do you want that
- 2:08:50Speaker 35: person being your advocate?
- 2:08:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:08:54Speaker 1: Well, I think that brings us at least brings me
- 2:08:57Speaker 1: to our current attorney general, you know, William Tong. And
- 2:09:03Speaker 1: I when I saw him come out of it looked
- 2:09:06Speaker 1: like he was at a luncheon or something. And he
- 2:09:08Speaker 1: came out and made the statement of that. where he
- 2:09:12Speaker 1: was dictating to Connecticut Republicans, in effect saying, you cannot
- 2:09:17Speaker 1: be MAGA. You're either for us or against us. And, Judge,
- 2:09:22Speaker 1: I looked at this and I said, well, my first
- 2:09:24Speaker 1: thought is we have a Democrat telling Republicans what they
- 2:09:27Speaker 1: can and cannot do.
- 2:09:29Speaker 3: And my second thought.
- 2:09:30Speaker 1: Is, well, aren't these people who are, we want to
- 2:09:34Speaker 1: use this horribly pejorative term in the sense that he
- 2:09:37Speaker 1: wants to use.
- 2:09:38Speaker 3: A MAGA, saying, well.
- 2:09:42Speaker 2: Don't we, if we're in office, represent MAGA?
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: I mean, are there values in MAGA that perhaps are
- 2:09:49Speaker 1: good value? It was just this whole thing. And I
- 2:09:52Speaker 1: was just, other than, you know, at least to my,
- 2:09:56Speaker 1: there was very, very white pushback about this. And I'm
- 2:09:59Speaker 1: saying to myself, Judge, why isn't every Republican signing a
- 2:10:03Speaker 1: statement saying, That man, if he doesn't, because America is
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: supposed to be, I think, to your point, a whole thing,
- 2:10:10Speaker 1: a whole polyglot of different ideas, different thoughts, different concepts.
- 2:10:15Speaker 1: And the thing is, I find your attitude intolerable, so
- 2:10:18Speaker 1: you must be silenced.
- 2:10:19Speaker 2: I was like.
- 2:10:20Speaker 35: Well, this is identity politics at its worst. And the
- 2:10:23Speaker 35: problem is, and I know William Tong, this is not
- 2:10:27Speaker 35: so simplistic. We're not so stupid. I would say to him,
- 2:10:31Speaker 35: having had dinner with him years ago, he knew me.
- 2:10:33Speaker 35: He returned my calls when I was a judge. Not now, though,
- 2:10:35Speaker 35: a private private attorney. But I'll say this. It's nuanced.
- 2:10:39Speaker 35: It's not either or.
- 2:10:40Speaker 40: Right.
- 2:10:41Speaker 35: You can actually be discerning and have a criticism on
- 2:10:45Speaker 35: both sides. And this is what they try to do.
- 2:10:48Speaker 35: And maybe, you know, the Democrats are trying to align
- 2:10:50Speaker 35: any Republican in Connecticut. If you don't denounce MAGA, you're
- 2:10:53Speaker 35: a Trumper. And that's wrongheaded. I'm not running for anything,
- 2:10:57Speaker 35: as I've often said, other than my wife, if I
- 2:11:00Speaker 35: know what's good for me. But stop with the identity politics.
- 2:11:03Speaker 35: We're not so stupid, are we? You know, and this
- 2:11:06Speaker 35: is what they're playing into, this right, left, left, right. Hey,
- 2:11:09Speaker 35: I want to say something. I made amends at the
- 2:11:11Speaker 35: dump last week of somebody very much on the left.
- 2:11:15Speaker 35: And I ended up, I saw her at the Delamar
- 2:11:17Speaker 35: in Mystic one day. And she said, you unfriended me.
- 2:11:21Speaker 35: And I said, it did something worse.
- 2:11:22Speaker 8: I blocked you. I blocked you.
- 2:11:24Speaker 35: Because you're, I almost swore, you're really off the rails.
- 2:11:29Speaker 35: And you know what we did at the dump where
- 2:11:30Speaker 35: all things are discussed?
- 2:11:32Speaker 8: We hugged.
- 2:11:33Speaker 35: And we said, maybe we should do a show together.
- 2:11:34Speaker 35: She is actually in broadcasting. Worked at WDRC and Hartford
- 2:11:38Speaker 35: for many years. I think, I don't know if she
- 2:11:40Speaker 35: was on this forum. But she was working in radio recently. And,
- 2:11:43Speaker 35: you know, so two people with different views should be
- 2:11:46Speaker 35: able to come together, right? It's not all about identity.
- 2:11:49Speaker 35: She always said, you're MAGA, you're MAGA. No, I have
- 2:11:51Speaker 35: an opinion. You know, this is what goes on. So
- 2:11:54Speaker 35: let's try to make amends. Let's leave it on this
- 2:11:56Speaker 35: good note as we, you know, closing toward the end
- 2:11:58Speaker 35: of the half hour. My man, JFK, said, I don't
- 2:12:01Speaker 35: want the Democrat answer. I don't want the Republican answer.
- 2:12:03Speaker 35: I want the right answer. Yeah, let's have the intelligent answer.
- 2:12:06Speaker 35: I think we're better. And let's appeal to.
- 2:12:08Speaker 8: Our better angels, right?
- 2:12:10Speaker 35: Amen.

- 2:23:03Speaker 1: Tony D'Angelo in Voice of the Fan, 94.9 News and
- 2:23:08Speaker 1: Stimulating Talk. And I've just got to make honorable mention
- 2:23:11Speaker 1: of this story. showing my wear and age, these things
- 2:23:14Speaker 1: I was talking about at the top of the last hour.
- 2:23:18Speaker 1: Things you've done in your life. How many, they can't
- 2:23:22Speaker 1: find anybody that's done all 20. And actually, I'm pitching
- 2:23:25Speaker 1: a shout out here. I used a rotary phone, floppy disk, typewriter,
- 2:23:28Speaker 1: taking photos with a film camera, listening to music on
- 2:23:31Speaker 1: a CD, cassette tape, vinyl record. I had a Walkman.
- 2:23:34Speaker 1: I used a phone book. I sent a postcard. I'm
- 2:23:36Speaker 1: old enough to where we used to collect phone books
- 2:23:38Speaker 1: because I When we didn't want to pay for information,
- 2:23:41Speaker 1: in the pre-Internet days, we collected phone books. I did
- 2:23:45Speaker 1: dial up Internet. I still pay with paper checks. And
- 2:23:49Speaker 1: I guess people think this is really ancient stuff. I mean,
- 2:23:53Speaker 1: the one firm I was at in– actually, I met
- 2:23:56Speaker 1: my first wife in New York. There was one typewriter
- 2:24:00Speaker 1: on the floor. It was an IBM Selectric with a
- 2:24:03Speaker 1: ball element on it. and all of the women would
- 2:24:07Speaker 1: come in and drive me crazy, and they would use
- 2:24:09Speaker 1: the typewriter, and half of them couldn't type. And they'd
- 2:24:12Speaker 1: make errors, and they'd reach for the whiteout, and they'd
- 2:24:15Speaker 1: smile and apologize. Like, this is really good. I mean,
- 2:24:17Speaker 1: it's just finding it hard to concentrate in this stuff.
- 2:24:20Speaker 1: But all I can tell you is some of you
- 2:24:24Speaker 1: younger guys, you had to be there to actually figure
- 2:24:27Speaker 1: out really the magic.
- 2:24:30Speaker 3: That typewriters can bring.
- 2:24:31Speaker 23: But.
- 2:24:32Speaker 2: Our magic is in our callers. Our first caller is Dan. Hello, Dan.
- 2:24:38Speaker 6: What about actually rolling down the window, Tony?
- 2:24:42Speaker 1: My father had a 56 Plymouth with a cowl vent.
- 2:24:46Speaker 2: In other words, there was no air conditioning.
- 2:24:48Speaker 1: You pulled the lever back, and these vents would pop
- 2:24:50Speaker 1: out on the side, sort of like a, I don't know,
- 2:24:52Speaker 1: some sort of like a condor or something. And people
- 2:24:55Speaker 1: drove from air conditioning. I mean, that's for rich people.
- 2:24:58Speaker 2: My Lord.
- 2:24:58Speaker 54: Right?
- 2:24:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:25:00Speaker 6: We had a car where there was still a crank
- 2:25:01Speaker 6: handle you could put in the front. It was a
- 2:25:03Speaker 6: Triumph TR3.
- 2:25:05Speaker 2: I recall them.
- 2:25:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:25:06Speaker 6: A little gangster car. It was cool. But what it's
- 2:25:11Speaker 6: all about is, first of all, I'm enjoying your show
- 2:25:14Speaker 6: very much.
- 2:25:14Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 2:25:15Speaker 6: And thanks for doing it.
- 2:25:17Speaker 2: It's an honor.
- 2:25:18Speaker 6: And I wanted to say what Jan had mentioned before
- 2:25:22Speaker 6: about the education of people. And I'm alarmed by the
- 2:25:27Speaker 6: stupidity of the average person. And, you know, there's a
- 2:25:32Speaker 6: term called engineered obsolescence, where they design into a product,
- 2:25:38Speaker 6: it's failure, right? So, you know, you get a year warranty,
- 2:25:43Speaker 6: and in 367 days, the thing is designed to break,
- 2:25:47Speaker 6: melt down, or whatever, so you have to go get
- 2:25:48Speaker 6: another one. And I cannot help but feel that the
- 2:25:52Speaker 6: ignorance that's out there in our population is by design.
- 2:25:56Speaker 6: It can't be any other way. Tony, you could sit
- 2:25:59Speaker 6: home and watch TV for 13 years instead of going
- 2:26:03Speaker 6: to public school and know more from sitting at home
- 2:26:06Speaker 6: watching TV and eating cereal than you could learn, than you,
- 2:26:10Speaker 6: a typical person, learns in a public school these days.
- 2:26:13Speaker 6: And that's not to denigrate teachers. I just think I
- 2:26:16Speaker 6: just have no idea what the curriculum is there. And
- 2:26:19Speaker 6: something had dawned on me the other day. You know,
- 2:26:23Speaker 6: I was, like, hearing about these riots in Paris where,
- 2:26:26Speaker 6: you know, the Islamic... the Islamists, really, to be more correct,
- 2:26:32Speaker 6: are taking over parts of the city. And the commentary
- 2:26:35Speaker 6: was like, well, it's mostly college students. And that had
- 2:26:39Speaker 6: me thinking. At first I was relieved, and I thought, okay,
- 2:26:42Speaker 6: you know, it's like dopey college students or whatever. But
- 2:26:45Speaker 6: then it dawned on me, Tony, that World War II– When...
- 2:26:54Speaker 6: If those... If the veterans that fought in World War II,
- 2:26:57Speaker 6: the American veterans that fought in World War II, weren't
- 2:27:01Speaker 6: jumping out of airplanes and parachuting down behind enemy lines to,
- 2:27:06Speaker 6: you know, fight Germans and, you know, fight those forces,
- 2:27:11Speaker 6: where would they be? I mean, many of them would
- 2:27:15Speaker 6: be in high school still. Most would be in college
- 2:27:19Speaker 6: because that was the age.
- 2:27:20Speaker 27: I mean.
- 2:27:22Speaker 6: Our American veterans in that war were lying about their age.
- 2:27:26Speaker 6: They were 16 years old, 15 years old, some of them,
- 2:27:30Speaker 6: to go and fight, right? To go fight the hunt, basically, right?
- 2:27:34Speaker 6: Signing up, lying about their age. And so when you see...
- 2:27:38Speaker 6: you know, these movements on these college campuses where you
- 2:27:43Speaker 6: see the rank anti-Semitism and they're chasing Jewish students around
- 2:27:48Speaker 6: and they're, you know, and they're rioting and carrying on.
- 2:27:53Speaker 6: But then when they're interviewed and asked, can you name–
- 2:27:58Speaker 6: you know, the last three presidents of the United States,
- 2:28:01Speaker 6: or can you quote any of the amendments of the
- 2:28:04Speaker 6: Constitution of the United States? Not a clue. Tony, not
- 2:28:08Speaker 6: a clue. Not one. Can't get a single solitary amendment.
- 2:28:12Speaker 6: Can't figure out... And this is a group of people
- 2:28:15Speaker 6: that's never paid a tax... Never paid a tax, never
- 2:28:20Speaker 6: had a job, never have done anything except grown up
- 2:28:23Speaker 6: in their parents' house and then gone to school on
- 2:28:27Speaker 6: mostly what is our dime to learn how to be riotous,
- 2:28:34Speaker 6: malcontents that are lately more and more towing the Islamist line.
- 2:28:43Speaker 6: In our nation, in our country, we're talking about– we
- 2:28:46Speaker 6: talk about and worry about immigrants coming in illegally who
- 2:28:50Speaker 6: are military age, and we're making a homegrown batch of
- 2:28:54Speaker 6: them right here. I'm just– Islam, what is the deal
- 2:29:00Speaker 6: with the United States of America that we suddenly have
- 2:29:04Speaker 6: Islamist candidates and– They're in government, Tony. We're not even
- 2:29:08Speaker 6: talking about the mosque on the corner or freedom of
- 2:29:12Speaker 6: religion necessarily. We're talking about takeover of portions of the government.
- 2:29:19Speaker 2: Watch the Dearborn City Council.
- 2:29:23Speaker 6: Tony, I would pass something on Long Island here on
- 2:29:26Speaker 6: 27 on Sunrise Highway. It looked like Disney World was
- 2:29:30Speaker 6: getting built, like the Magic Kingdom Castle or something. I
- 2:29:33Speaker 6: was like, what the heck is that thing? It's a mosque.
- 2:29:37Speaker 6: It's an Islamic learning center, and everywhere I look, churches
- 2:29:40Speaker 6: are becoming a relic, a thing of the past. They're
- 2:29:43Speaker 6: being bought up, or the properties are being bought up.
- 2:29:46Speaker 6: Islamic centers are coming in, and Islam is, like, wildly
- 2:29:51Speaker 6: spreading all around our everyday existence. And it's like now
- 2:29:59Speaker 6: it's in government, and we're being lectured by Islamist apologists
- 2:30:04Speaker 6: about morality.
- 2:30:06Speaker 1: Well, I was watching like four or five things ping-ponged
- 2:30:11Speaker 1: off my head during your conversation. Jesse Watershow, he sends
- 2:30:20Speaker 1: Johnny out, kind of like a humorous thing, and talks
- 2:30:23Speaker 1: to people, those very things.
- 2:30:24Speaker 3: Do you know? Do you understand?
- 2:30:26Speaker 1: Johnny went to Columbia and was talking to a young gentleman. Now,
- 2:30:30Speaker 1: this was a gentleman of color who was very nice
- 2:30:33Speaker 1: and very knowledgeable, and Johnny said, Do you know the
- 2:30:36Speaker 1: name of the Secretary of Defense? And he's like, no, sorry, bro,
- 2:30:39Speaker 1: can't help you.
- 2:30:40Speaker 13: Like, what?
- 2:30:41Speaker 1: You're complaining about the war and you don't know the
- 2:30:44Speaker 1: name of the Secretary of Defense?
- 2:30:47Speaker 2: It's insane.
- 2:30:48Speaker 6: Have you seen this clip floating around? There's this guy
- 2:30:52Speaker 6: running for... he's running for office, and he accosts a
- 2:30:57Speaker 6: Jewish guy who's there with his kids in a parking lot.
- 2:31:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I have not.
- 2:31:03Speaker 6: And he's got the worst anti-Jewish screed and rhetoric and
- 2:31:09Speaker 6: rant that you have ever heard, and he's literally... He's
- 2:31:13Speaker 6: running for office.
- 2:31:15Speaker 20: Right?
- 2:31:16Speaker 6: I think it's Green Party or something on the left.
- 2:31:19Speaker 1: And.
- 2:31:21Speaker 6: And the straight apologists for Islamic jihad, basically. They're out
- 2:31:28Speaker 6: there chanting from the river to the sea.
- 2:31:30Speaker 2: I'm doing God's work. I want to kill you.
- 2:31:33Speaker 6: Do you understand what those words even mean?
- 2:31:41Speaker 2: It's so amazing.
- 2:31:43Speaker 1: I'd like to get another caller, and we can go
- 2:31:45Speaker 1: on for days. Thank you so much for calling, and
- 2:31:48Speaker 1: I believe we have old Dan. We've gone from young
- 2:31:51Speaker 1: Dan to old Dan. Maybe after that we'll have tired Dan.
- 2:31:54Speaker 2: Hi, Dan.
- 2:31:56Speaker 16: Yeah, well, no, thanks, Tony. I've got to admit, I
- 2:32:02Speaker 16: loved your opening today.
- 2:32:04Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 2:32:05Speaker 16: It was really great, and then Bob Swick and the judges,
- 2:32:09Speaker 16: But what I thought was also very important and enlightening,
- 2:32:13Speaker 16: that tape of those women talking about that we could give,
- 2:32:19Speaker 16: we need health care for all, and we need to
- 2:32:22Speaker 16: solve all our problems, and how can we pay for
- 2:32:25Speaker 16: it by taxing the rich? And it just struck me
- 2:32:30Speaker 16: that they're very idealistic. I think they mean well, but
- 2:32:34Speaker 16: they have no understanding of economic reality. And I've noticed
- 2:32:40Speaker 16: through life, if you make a decision based on emotion
- 2:32:44Speaker 16: and based on ignorance, it's usually the wrong decision.
- 2:32:48Speaker 2: Almost always.
- 2:32:49Speaker 16: And I just looked up some stuff just to prove
- 2:32:53Speaker 16: that the rich are paying their fair share. The top
- 2:32:57Speaker 16: 50% in Connecticut and the federal government, the top 50%
- 2:33:02Speaker 16: of income earners pay 97% of the total income taxes
- 2:33:08Speaker 16: that are collected. I mean, do you think if they
- 2:33:13Speaker 16: paid another 3%, all our problems would go away and
- 2:33:16Speaker 16: we'd have enough money to have health care for all
- 2:33:19Speaker 16: and everything else that these women want?
- 2:33:23Speaker 1: It's ludicrous. Jumping back for a moment to a previous
- 2:33:30Speaker 1: Dan's conversation. This has been handed to me by my
- 2:33:34Speaker 1: editorial board. You never see Christians hijacking a plane and yelling,
- 2:33:38Speaker 1: praise Jesus. They try to kill everyone on board. But anyway,
- 2:33:41Speaker 1: please continue, Dan.
- 2:33:46Speaker 16: That's a good one. And, yeah, we're the bad guys.
- 2:33:52Speaker 20: Oh, my God.
- 2:33:54Speaker 16: And I just also look, just to get people hopefully
- 2:33:58Speaker 16: to understand, the total receipts, of state income taxes in
- 2:34:02Speaker 16: Connecticut are about $ 10. 5 billion. And since the top 50%
- 2:34:08Speaker 16: of wage earners pay 97% of it, they're paying $ 10. 2 billion.
- 2:34:15Speaker 16: That means the 3% are paying $ 300 million, which tells me...
- 2:34:21Speaker 16: And again, the same question. Would that $ 300 million, when
- 2:34:25Speaker 16: the rest of the higher earners are already paying, you know, $ 10.
- 2:34:29Speaker 32: 2 billion....
- 2:34:31Speaker 16: It's like we're being fed and being played on by the,
- 2:34:37Speaker 16: I call it the politics of jealousy and envy.
- 2:34:40Speaker 6: Yes.
- 2:34:41Speaker 16: By them always saying, you know, the rich have it,
- 2:34:44Speaker 16: they don't need it, you know. But they're already paying
- 2:34:48Speaker 16: for it.
- 2:34:49Speaker 6: And I don't know.
- 2:34:50Speaker 16: And then I go to the, we're still the third
- 2:34:53Speaker 16: highest taxed state in this country. yet we're also the
- 2:34:58Speaker 16: second or third highest debt per capita state in the country,
- 2:35:02Speaker 16: which just, again, tells me we're taking an awful lot
- 2:35:07Speaker 16: of our money that we earn, that the workers earn,
- 2:35:10Speaker 16: but obviously we're spending it in the wrong way, and
- 2:35:13Speaker 16: it's never enough because we're in debt up to our eyeballs,
- 2:35:19Speaker 16: and we still have all these problems. And people got
- 2:35:24Speaker 16: to understand also, this is my last point, we talk
- 2:35:28Speaker 16: about affordability. And you said earlier about higher paychecks make
- 2:35:32Speaker 16: things more affordable. Well, if we're paying high taxes, that
- 2:35:36Speaker 16: comes out of our paycheck. And it makes our paycheck smaller.
- 2:35:41Speaker 16: So if you want to make things affordable, if we
- 2:35:44Speaker 16: have more take-home pay because we're paying less taxes, life
- 2:35:48Speaker 16: is more affordable. And I wish I could get that
- 2:35:52Speaker 16: through to people's heads.
- 2:35:55Speaker 11: And that's all I know.
- 2:35:56Speaker 1: Well, I keep coming back to that either 8 billionaires
- 2:35:59Speaker 1: or 10 billionaires or 12 billionaires. And the solution of
- 2:36:04Speaker 1: the Working Families Party is we need these people to
- 2:36:08Speaker 1: pay more tax. And we're going like the women, you know,
- 2:36:12Speaker 1: at the Abdul rally. We're going to get them to
- 2:36:14Speaker 1: pay more tax and we're going to stop wars and
- 2:36:16Speaker 1: everything is going.
- 2:36:17Speaker 2: To be wonderful. And it never dawns on them, Dan,
- 2:36:21Speaker 2: that these people who were.
- 2:36:23Speaker 1: There, basically, number one, they want to live their lives
- 2:36:27Speaker 1: in peace like everybody else does. Number two, they don't
- 2:36:30Speaker 1: like being fingered upon. Number three, if you get them
- 2:36:34Speaker 1: angry enough, they're going to go. Number four, if they
- 2:36:36Speaker 1: do go, the state budget collapses. There ain't no way
- 2:36:41Speaker 1: you're going to make up that amount of revenue with
- 2:36:42Speaker 1: nothing coming in.
- 2:36:44Speaker 2: And it's this whole thing.
- 2:36:45Speaker 1: And then, quote, unquote, and, you know, I realize this
- 2:36:48Speaker 1: in the business I am in, there's always the next
- 2:36:51Speaker 1: generation who often, more often than not, does not have
- 2:36:56Speaker 1: the same mindset of their parents. Basically, they'll look at
- 2:37:01Speaker 1: it and say, well, they screwed my father. You know,
- 2:37:04Speaker 1: they took all this money from him. He was in Florida.
- 2:37:06Speaker 1: I have a whole lot more. When it comes my day,
- 2:37:08Speaker 1: I'm getting out. And it's this whole mental psychosis of
- 2:37:12Speaker 1: it's all going to be fine. We're going to get it.
- 2:37:15Speaker 1: Everything is okay. We're going to keep government where it is.
- 2:37:19Speaker 1: We're going to keep the income tax. We're keeping the
- 2:37:21Speaker 1: income tax. Other people are getting rid of theirs. Look
- 2:37:25Speaker 1: at Bruce Blakeman in New York running for governor. He
- 2:37:28Speaker 1: wants to get rid of the income tax. He's like,
- 2:37:30Speaker 1: enough of this. We've got to be competitive. We don't
- 2:37:33Speaker 1: hear that in Connecticut. We never, ever, ever hear that
- 2:37:36Speaker 1: because it's this whole thing of, well, you've got to
- 2:37:38Speaker 1: make up the revenue. Yeah, you make up the revenue
- 2:37:40Speaker 1: with new revenue, having new things come in. The loss
- 2:37:44Speaker 1: of Stanley Black and Decker, I keep coming back to that.
- 2:37:46Speaker 1: Multiply that times 5 times 10 times 15, and it's
- 2:37:50Speaker 1: like you've got.
- 2:37:51Speaker 2: To get more juice in this whole thing.
- 2:37:54Speaker 1: And actually, it's amazing. Believe it or not, we have
- 2:38:00Speaker 1: another caller, which is– I didn't think we'd get so many. Dan,
- 2:38:05Speaker 1: thank you so much for calling. Got Mike from Gales
- 2:38:07Speaker 1: Ferry coming up.
- 2:38:08Speaker 2: Got one minute.
- 2:38:08Speaker 56: I want to make it quick.
- 2:38:11Speaker 27: Sure.
- 2:38:12Speaker 56: So I've noticed a lot of times in Connecticut and
- 2:38:15Speaker 56: the rest of the state, even federally, what happens is
- 2:38:18Speaker 56: these politicians will introduce an unpopular law, and it will
- 2:38:21Speaker 56: get voted down, and they just keep reintroducing it again
- 2:38:24Speaker 56: and again and again until it gets passed. So my
- 2:38:26Speaker 56: solution to that is we need attempted tyranny laws. So
- 2:38:29Speaker 56: a politician can get up and say, oh, yeah, I
- 2:38:31Speaker 56: want to take everyone's guns away, and then everybody votes no,
- 2:38:33Speaker 56: and then we say, all right, now who wants to
- 2:38:35Speaker 56: vote to charge this guy with attempted tyranny? You know, first,
- 2:38:38Speaker 56: you know, offense could be like a $ 500, 000 fine, and
- 2:38:41Speaker 56: after that you go to jail for the rest of
- 2:38:42Speaker 56: your life.
- 2:38:44Speaker 1: They're following a principle actually started with the Savior, Jesus
- 2:38:49Speaker 1: Christ of Nazareth, who kept saying to the apostles who were,
- 2:38:52Speaker 1: you know, they were well-to-do men, but they were dense men. Again,
- 2:38:56Speaker 1: I say to you, again, I say to you, again,
- 2:38:58Speaker 1: I say to you, and They understand that if you
- 2:39:01Speaker 1: repeat something enough, it'll eventually get into people's heads and
- 2:39:05Speaker 1: they just keep coming and they just keep doing it.
- 2:39:09Speaker 1: I don't know if we get as far as attempted tyranny,
- 2:39:12Speaker 1: but there should be like, you know, maybe like a
- 2:39:14Speaker 1: five year moratorium, like a shut your mouth thing.
- 2:39:16Speaker 2: I'd be up for that.
- 2:39:19Speaker 56: Or you just get banned from working for the government. Like,
- 2:39:21Speaker 56: you can't be a politician anymore. You can't even work
- 2:39:23Speaker 56: for the post office.
- 2:39:25Speaker 6: You're just done.
- 2:39:25Speaker 2: Then you're going to go on skid row. What are
- 2:39:28Speaker 2: we going to do with them then? They've got no
- 2:39:31Speaker 2: talent otherwise.
- 2:39:32Speaker 56: You know, I think we'd be better off just hiring
- 2:39:34Speaker 56: the homeless people to.
- 2:39:35Speaker 6: Be our politicians. We've got them now and doing the
- 2:39:38Speaker 6: job right.
- 2:39:39Speaker 2: We couldn't do any worse. Oh, boy, I wish we
- 2:39:42Speaker 2: could continue this call. Thank you, Mike.
- 2:39:44Speaker 3: Thank you so much.
- 2:39:45Speaker 56: Thank you.
- 2:39:46Speaker 3: Oh, thank you.

- 2:42:01Speaker 61: It's Hugh Hewitt here with Ken and Nick Tumalo, hosts
- 2:42:04Speaker 61: of Tumalo Financial Radio, Sundays on 94.9. Guys, why do
- 2:42:09Speaker 61: taxes get overlooked in retirement planning?
- 2:42:11Speaker 62: Because the tax code is so complicated. You look at it,
- 2:42:14Speaker 62: the 401k is pre-tax money. The Roth is tax-free. Your
- 2:42:17Speaker 62: non-retirement accounts are capital gains, dividends, and interest. Your Social
- 2:42:20Speaker 62: Security is taxed by provisional income. I'm giving you all
- 2:42:23Speaker 62: these things and you're probably already confused. That's why you
- 2:42:25Speaker 62: want to build out that two-month retirement checkup to see short, first,
- 2:42:29Speaker 62: long-term effects on these type of things.
- 2:42:31Speaker 35: Because you never know.
- 2:42:32Speaker 62: You might have been saving well in those 401ks, and
- 2:42:34Speaker 62: you might have a required minimum distribution issue at 73
- 2:42:38Speaker 62: or 75, depending on year of birth. So you really
- 2:42:40Speaker 62: don't want to look at it just on a one-year basis. Oh, yeah,
- 2:42:43Speaker 62: I'm going to do a Roth conversion this year. It's
- 2:42:45Speaker 62: going to take care of everything.
- 2:42:46Speaker 48: No.
- 2:42:47Speaker 62: Planning takes year over year on tax planning. You can't
- 2:42:50Speaker 62: just do it in one year.
- 2:42:51Speaker 63: Yeah, and one of the biggest things that we did
- 2:42:52Speaker 63: find with tax planning is especially for our listeners was
- 2:42:56Speaker 63: that it has to be done over multiple years to
- 2:42:58Speaker 63: actually gain an advantage. So it's not that simple where
- 2:43:01Speaker 63: you just make one change in one year. A lot
- 2:43:03Speaker 63: of times it's the planning piece of it. And when
- 2:43:05Speaker 63: we do our Tumor Financial Retirement Checkup, it actually looks
- 2:43:08Speaker 63: like a big spreadsheet and it shows the numbers over
- 2:43:10Speaker 63: a whole bunch of years. We like to go out 24,
- 2:43:13Speaker 63: even 30 years at times when we're projecting out. Because
- 2:43:15Speaker 63: if we can pick up on some of these tax
- 2:43:17Speaker 63: things and then start to implement strategies, then what we
- 2:43:20Speaker 63: can do is put in front of you, the listeners,
- 2:43:22Speaker 63: we can put in front of them where they would
- 2:43:24Speaker 63: save money in taxes and how much over time. So
- 2:43:26Speaker 63: it starts with that Tumul Financial Retirement Checkup, our number, 860-854-3434.
- 2:43:29Speaker 54: Again, 860-854-3434.

- 2:43:38Speaker 61: At Tumalo Financial, they have just one job, and that's

- 2:43:57Speaker 19: Talk.
- 2:44:05Speaker 16: Talk.
- 2:44:06Speaker 1: And my poor engineer is struggling with the music. I
- 2:44:11Speaker 1: thank you so much for being here today. And thanks
- 2:44:15Speaker 1: to the judge. Thanks to Bob Swift. Thanks to Bob
- 2:44:19Speaker 1: Lazeri and all you.
- 2:44:20Speaker 2: Guys that call.
- 2:44:22Speaker 1: We've hit on everybody today. And let's get management people upset.
- 2:44:27Speaker 1: Management expert concluded his lecture with a note of caution.
- 2:44:31Speaker 1: Don't try these techniques at home.
- 2:44:33Speaker 2: And why not?
- 2:44:34Speaker 3: Somebody asked from the audience.
- 2:44:35Speaker 1: He said, I watched my wife make breakfast for 10 years,
- 2:44:39Speaker 1: and I noticed she was making repeated trips going back
- 2:44:42Speaker 1: and forth and back and forth and back and forth.
- 2:44:44Speaker 1: And I said, hey, dear, you know, if you carry
- 2:44:47Speaker 1: two things at once, you don't have to make as
- 2:44:50Speaker 1: many trips.
- 2:44:51Speaker 3: And the guy says, well, how did that work out?
- 2:44:52Speaker 1: He says, really, really, really great. I'm now doing it
- 2:44:57Speaker 1: myself in half the time. Isn't it like anything else?
