- 0:12Hello friends. It is shown here.
- 0:15It is Tuesday. It is the 9th of May and it's so
- 0:19good to have your company because boy have you and I got a
- 0:23date. You'll never guess with a couple
- 0:25more plagues. Yep, we get to play in the
- 0:30Fields of locusts and darkness today.
- 0:33And then tomorrow, we reach the end game as far as the place go.
- 0:38So we continue and your mind may just Boggle along with mine at
- 0:44how incredible the resistance of pharaoh is.
- 0:46And if you thought he was resistant, I reckon you.
- 0:50And I equal his resistance. Sometimes when horror God, is
- 0:53trying to communicate something and we just don't hear it.
- 0:57But here we see God and His incredible Credibly creative
- 1:01response to the stubbornness of the Egyptian ruler.
- 1:06So join me. As we read through today.
- 1:09In Exodus chapter 10. Then the Lord said to Moses
- 1:24returned to pharaoh and make your demands again.
- 1:28I have made him and his official stubborn.
- 1:31So I can display my miraculous signs among them.
- 1:35I've also done it so that you can tell your children and
- 1:39grandchildren about how I made a mockery of the Egyptians and
- 1:44about the signs, I displayed among them.
- 1:47And so you will know that I am the Lord.
- 1:52So Moses and Aaron went to pharaoh and said, this is what
- 1:55the Lord, the god of the Hebrews says, how long will you refuse
- 2:00to submit to me? Let my people go, so they can
- 2:04worship me. If you refuse watch out for
- 2:09tomorrow, I will bring a swarm of locusts on your country.
- 2:13They will cover the land, so that you won't be able to see
- 2:16the ground. They will devour what little is
- 2:19left of your crops after the hail storm.
- 2:21Including all the trees growing in the fields, they will overrun
- 2:26your palaces and the homes of your officials, and all the
- 2:30houses in Egypt, never in the history of Egypt, have your
- 2:34ancestors. Seen a play like this one.
- 2:37And with that Moses Turned and Left Pharaoh pharaohs officials.
- 2:42Now came to pharaoh, and appeal to him.
- 2:45How long will you let this man? Hold us, hostage, let the men go
- 2:49to Worship the Lord, their God. Don't you realize that Egypt
- 2:53lies in Ruins? So, Moses and Aaron were brought
- 2:57back to Pharaoh. All right.
- 2:59He told him, go and Worship the Lord your God, but who exactly
- 3:05will be going with you? Moses replied.
- 3:08We will all go young and old our sons, and daughters and our
- 3:13flocks and herds. We must all join together in
- 3:16celebrating the Festival of the Lord Farrah retorted.
- 3:20The Lord will certainly need to be with you if I let you take
- 3:25your little Once I can see through your evil plan, never
- 3:30only the men may go and Worship the Lord.
- 3:33Since that is what you requested and Pharaoh threw them out of
- 3:37the palace. Then the Lord said to Moses,
- 3:41raise your hand over the land of Egypt and bring on the locusts.
- 3:46Let them cover the land and devour every plant that survived
- 3:50the hailstorm. So Moses raised his staff over
- 3:54Egypt and the Lord caused an East Wind to blow over the land,
- 3:59all that day, and through the night.
- 4:03When morning arrived the East Wind had brought the locusts and
- 4:07the Locust swarmed over the whole land of Egypt.
- 4:11Settling in dense swarms from one end of the country to the
- 4:14other, it was the worst Locust plague in Egyptian history and
- 4:20there has never been another one like it for the locusts.
- 4:24Covered the whole country and darkened.
- 4:26The land. They devoured every plant in the
- 4:30fields and all the fruit on the tree.
- 4:32Is that it Vive. The hailstorm, not a single leaf
- 4:36was left on the trees and plants throughout the land of Egypt.
- 4:40Pharaoh quickly summoned, Moses and Aaron, I have sinned against
- 4:44the Lord, your God, and against you, he confessed forgive my
- 4:49sin, just this once and plead with the Lord, your God, to take
- 4:54away this death from me. So, Moses left.
- 4:58Pharaoh's court and pleaded with the Lord.
- 5:00The Lord responded by Shifting The Wind.
- 5:03And the strong west wind blew the locusts into the Red Sea,
- 5:08not a single Locust, remained in all the land of Egypt, but the
- 5:12Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart again, so he refused to let the
- 5:16people go. Then the Lord said to Moses,
- 5:20lift your hand toward Heaven and the land of Egypt will be
- 5:24covered with a Darkness, so thick you can feel it.
- 5:29So Moses lifted his hand to the sky and a deep Darkness covered
- 5:34the entire land of Egypt for three days during all that time.
- 5:40The people could not see each other and no one moved but there
- 5:44was light as usual, where the people of Israel.
- 5:46Lived, finally, Pharaoh called, for Moses go and Worship the
- 5:52Lord. He said, but leave your flocks
- 5:55and herds here. You may even take your little
- 5:58ones with you. No Moses said, you must provide
- 6:03us with animals for sacrifices and burnt offerings to the Lord.
- 6:06Our God, all our livestock must go with us to not a hoof can be
- 6:12left behind. We must choose our sacrifices
- 6:16for the Lord, Our God from among these animals, and we won't know
- 6:20how we are to Worship the Lord until we get there.
- 6:24But the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart once more.
- 6:26And he would not let them go. Get out of here.
- 6:30Pharaoh shouted at Moses. I'm warning.
- 6:33You and never come back to see me again.
- 6:36The day you see my face. You will die very well.
- 6:41Moses replied, I will never see your face again.
- 6:56You are the light of light light that shines into our world
- 7:03without you. There really is Darkness without
- 7:07you. There is not an abiding Joy
- 7:09which carries us through this life into the next and eternal
- 7:14one in your presence of love and beauty and acceptance. thank you
- 7:20for the light that you Sean and Goshen on those days and the
- 7:25light that you shine through Jesus on us, Thank you, that we
- 7:33are so beloved by you. Thank you that your light fills
- 7:40our hearts. And even when the circumstances
- 7:43we Face Challengers, Lord, fill us with your light, draw our
- 7:49eyes upward to you in your glory.
- 7:54And thank you that you make your glory available to us all the
- 8:00time. Maybe we always Revel in your
- 8:05beautiful, glorious presence. In Jesus name we pray.
- 8:11Amen.
