Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the almost Famous podcast with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Everybody's Bob getting here, Almost Famous the Ogs doing a
- 0:10Speaker 2: breaking news episode. Taylor Frankie Paul TFP. She's back in
- 0:17Speaker 2: the news, everybody, and it's not pretty at all. Heather
- 0:23Speaker 2: Monday's joining me, our producer, extraordinary reality expert to be Bob.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I don't think she's left the news. I think it's
- 0:32Speaker 1: just been enough line every couple of hours with this one.
- 0:36Speaker 1: So I'm glad we're jumping on now to talk about
- 0:39Speaker 1: this latest one because it is a big one.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and I gotta say, I mean part of me,
- 0:45Speaker 2: part of me is perplexed on this.
- 0:46Speaker 3: I'm reading the news.
- 0:48Speaker 2: It was.
- 0:48Speaker 3: It was flashed all over the place today.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Police investigating Mormon wife star Taylor Frankie Paul on third
- 0:53Speaker 2: allegation of domestic violence. Police and Utah said they're investigating
- 0:57Speaker 2: an allegation of domestic violence for me twenty twenty four
- 0:59Speaker 2: insident that Dakota Mortensen made against Paul last month. So
- 1:05Speaker 2: a lot of questions about this. First of all, when
- 1:09Speaker 2: does it end right? I mean, at the end of
- 1:11Speaker 2: the day, you know, they always say you can't trust
- 1:14Speaker 2: a man with two first names. I don't know if
- 1:16Speaker 2: you've ever heard that, but this really begs the question
- 1:19Speaker 2: can we trust anybody with three first names? Because I
- 1:21Speaker 2: think TFP is going off the rails on this. And
- 1:26Speaker 2: I don't say that in a mean way. I say
- 1:28Speaker 2: that more from a standpoint of gosh, you gotta be
- 1:30Speaker 2: careful what you wish for, right all of a sudden,
- 1:33Speaker 2: you have this, this notoriety and dare I say, fame
- 1:37Speaker 2: and man, everything is coming out of the woodwork at
- 1:41Speaker 2: this point, and I feel so bad for the kids.
- 1:44Speaker 3: I feel so bad for her children. Who are you know?
- 1:47Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know Taylor Frankie Paul, I don't
- 1:50Speaker 2: know her at all. I do know that I thought
- 1:53Speaker 2: it was a risk for the franchise to take a
- 1:55Speaker 2: step in this direction, but seemed like a calculated one,
- 1:59Speaker 2: given the fact that they've been doing reality TV for
- 2:01Speaker 2: so long, and to be in a situation now where
- 2:04Speaker 2: you're like, oh my gosh, you know, like the franchise
- 2:07Speaker 2: has just exploded or imploded, I guess is a better
- 2:10Speaker 2: way to put it.
- 2:11Speaker 1: And imploded for sure, imploded.
- 2:13Speaker 2: And this poor in this woman, And I say poor woman,
- 2:15Speaker 2: but I realize, you know, I just I feel for
- 2:18Speaker 2: everybody involved in this. Like it sounds terrible to say
- 2:21Speaker 2: this because I always think there's three size to every story.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Right her side, his side, the truth, and and somehow
- 2:26Speaker 2: someway in the middle of this thing is the truth
- 2:30Speaker 2: that these two people loved each other at one point,
- 2:33Speaker 2: and I don't know what.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Their relationship is now. It doesn't seem like they love
- 2:36Speaker 3: each other anymore.
- 2:37Speaker 2: But these poor children that are getting just like their
- 2:40Speaker 2: mom is just getting destroyed, and and you know they
- 2:45Speaker 2: probably had to witness. I mean, we already know from
- 2:47Speaker 2: the TMZ video that was leaked last week that one
- 2:50Speaker 2: of the children at least was present, or two of
- 2:51Speaker 2: the children, because one of them, one of the children
- 2:53Speaker 2: was upstairs throwing up, and it was just like God,
- 2:56Speaker 2: these poor kids. I mean, when, what do you think
- 2:58Speaker 2: about all this?
- 2:59Speaker 1: I think, you know, obviously this is a third allegation
- 3:03Speaker 1: that we are hearing about, so we don't know. Again,
- 3:07Speaker 1: she's not been charged with anything or arrested for anything,
- 3:11Speaker 1: but it's not a good sign to continually. You know,
- 3:16Speaker 1: we're like less than a week from them pulling the
- 3:20Speaker 1: plug on the show and another allegation coming forward, So
- 3:24Speaker 1: I think we should dive into this because I think
- 3:26Speaker 1: it is interesting what you pointed out to me about
- 3:28Speaker 1: the timeline of everything, kind of putting this all together,
- 3:32Speaker 1: because it says that officials are investigating allegations of a
- 3:37Speaker 1: third domestic violence incident involving secret lives of Mormon Wives
- 3:40Speaker 1: stars Taylor, Frankie Paul, and Decota Martinsen. Police spokesman told
- 3:44Speaker 1: NBC on Tuesday, Dakota contacted the West Jordan, Utah Police
- 3:49Speaker 1: Department last month with allegations of domestic violence against Taylor
- 3:53Speaker 1: stemming from an incident in twenty twenty four. The spokesperson
- 3:57Speaker 1: added that he could not provide further detail, citing that
- 4:01Speaker 1: it was an open investigation. So we already know that
- 4:05Speaker 1: there was the twenty twenty three incident, which is the
- 4:08Speaker 1: one that we've all seen the footage from, and that's
- 4:10Speaker 1: the one she was arrested and charged that night. Now,
- 4:14Speaker 1: she was also on probation for that twenty twenty three incident.
- 4:19Speaker 1: She was on probation while she was filming the show. Yeah,
- 4:23Speaker 1: the show knew she was on probation. I just want
- 4:25Speaker 1: everybody to know that that that was not a surprise,
- 4:30Speaker 1: and we can go further into that that they knew
- 4:33Speaker 1: she was on probation because they couldn't actually film outside
- 4:36Speaker 1: of the US because she's interested. So her filming, I
- 4:40Speaker 1: believe the finale took place in Saint Lucia, which is
- 4:43Speaker 1: I think part of a US territory terratory. Yeah, that's
- 4:48Speaker 1: why there was no international travel for her season.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Okay.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I asked this question on this like a twenty twenty
- 4:55Speaker 2: four incident, So okay, the twenty twenty three incident clearly.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Was where all this originally was stemming from.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Right, The season was canceled based on the footage we
- 5:06Speaker 2: saw on TMZ and everywhere else.
- 5:08Speaker 1: But to be clear, we all knew about this, and.
- 5:11Speaker 3: We knew about that, and they knew, and then producers knew.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Producers knew this was covered on her other show. It
- 5:17Speaker 1: was in the very first episode. We already knew. We
- 5:20Speaker 1: have seen her. She has openly talked about this on
- 5:22Speaker 1: numerous podcasts over the years, so it was not a
- 5:25Speaker 1: secret at all. But the footage was the kicker because
- 5:30Speaker 1: we had ever seen that, and that is clearly what's
- 5:33Speaker 1: solidified there be damning didn't to yank it off. Now
- 5:37Speaker 1: we also know that there was something that happened last
- 5:40Speaker 1: month in February either the twenty third, twenty fourth, that's
- 5:43Speaker 1: a little muddled there, but we know that something happened
- 5:46Speaker 1: between her and Dakota, which then led to the Mormon
- 5:49Speaker 1: wives banding together and saying we are not comfortable filming.
- 5:53Speaker 1: So cameras are currently down on that show. Now, Taylor
- 5:59Speaker 1: still traveled to Los Angeles, attended the Academy Awards, had
- 6:03Speaker 1: her special air all before that situation was made known
- 6:09Speaker 1: that Sunday night. Yeah, so what it looks like is
- 6:13Speaker 1: whatever this twenty twenty four incident was My guess in
- 6:17Speaker 1: reading this article would be that not only did Dakota
- 6:22Speaker 1: talk to cops about whatever maybe happened on the twenty third,
- 6:25Speaker 1: but he also said, oh, and there's something from twenty
- 6:28Speaker 1: twenty four I should tell you about, and allegedly, you know,
- 6:32Speaker 1: maybe he went into detail. Then maybe he's been in
- 6:34Speaker 1: communications with the cops, you know, in these last three
- 6:38Speaker 1: weeks and has decided to bring this up. It definitely
- 6:42Speaker 1: sounds like an evolving timeline of situation that we're following.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I question a couple things, so, you know, the twenty
- 6:50Speaker 2: twenty four incident like that being conversationally brought up and
- 6:54Speaker 2: I'm sure you know, knowing what we now know of Taylor,
- 6:57Speaker 2: he probably had his camera rolling, is phone working at
- 7:01Speaker 2: that point in time.
- 7:02Speaker 3: But you know, if she was on probation already.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Then and that was from twenty twenty three incident, my
- 7:09Speaker 2: guess would be that that twenty twenty four incident, if
- 7:12Speaker 2: it were to have been brought up, was probably brought
- 7:14Speaker 2: up about violating the probation right or something of that nature.
- 7:19Speaker 1: We already we've seen reports that whatever the incident was
- 7:23Speaker 1: last month could be if it moves forward, because again
- 7:27Speaker 1: there's no arrest or anything has happened in whatever happened
- 7:31Speaker 1: last month. I just note that the cops were called.
- 7:34Speaker 1: That's the only like finite thing that we know. But
- 7:37Speaker 1: that situation, yes, could be if it moves forward, would
- 7:40Speaker 1: be a violation of her parole, which could then mean
- 7:44Speaker 1: because her twenty twenty three situation, as part of the
- 7:48Speaker 1: plea deal that she took, she has to remain in
- 7:52Speaker 1: good standing. I'm not a lawyer during her probation. Otherwise,
- 7:56Speaker 1: the charges from twenty twenty three will not be lessened
- 7:59Speaker 1: that as part of that, and she'll actually get a
- 8:02Speaker 1: firmer sentence, sentence or felony attached to her for violating
- 8:10Speaker 1: her parole and increased charges, but it does say here
- 8:13Speaker 1: it says the department is reviewing multiple videos connected to
- 8:17Speaker 1: the alleged event to figure out details and timelines. So
- 8:21Speaker 1: I think we're not the only ones who are a
- 8:22Speaker 1: little confused on the timeline. The spokesman said he could
- 8:26Speaker 1: not share the exact dates of the twenty twenty four incident,
- 8:29Speaker 1: and police have only Dakota's account of the alleged twenty
- 8:33Speaker 1: twenty four incident. So we're definitely going to be following
- 8:39Speaker 1: this story as it keeps continuing to progress almost daily.
- 8:44Speaker 1: At this point, it's got.
- 8:45Speaker 3: To be so hard. I mean, think about this from
- 8:47Speaker 3: a mental health perspective.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And this is not joking at all, like not making
- 8:52Speaker 2: light of this, because I think it's very serious to
- 8:55Speaker 2: go from the height of your premiere, right, I mean,
- 9:00Speaker 2: your show is preparing to premiere, and so you're doing
- 9:03Speaker 2: this press around it, and you're excited, and you know,
- 9:07Speaker 2: regardless of what the outcome was, it's going to be
- 9:09Speaker 2: a huge moment in your life, in your family's life.
- 9:13Speaker 2: And to go from that high to then the video
- 9:19Speaker 2: being leaked and all these other things happening. I mean,
- 9:22Speaker 2: I can't even and now you know, calling into question
- 9:25Speaker 2: whether or not. I mean, I'm sure this stuff is
- 9:27Speaker 2: being released in a way to create a custody situation
- 9:31Speaker 2: that will be favorable for the individual releasing that video, right,
- 9:35Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know the guy, but I can't
- 9:37Speaker 2: imagine that that's being released in any other capacity.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Well, we know he's been granted a restraining order from her,
- 9:45Speaker 1: and he has been granted temporary soul custody of their child,
- 9:49Speaker 1: so she's not allowed to see their kid, have contact
- 9:54Speaker 1: with him until they're hearing, which I believe is April
- 9:58Speaker 1: seventh as of right now. So it is really taking
- 10:02Speaker 1: a hard turn in the last I mean, we're talking,
- 10:06Speaker 1: you know, week, and I agree with you that it
- 10:09Speaker 1: is for anybody's mental health that would be a lot.
- 10:14Speaker 1: But she's really under they both are really under a
- 10:18Speaker 1: microscope right now, and in terms of public scrutiny and
- 10:24Speaker 1: in terms of how fast the Internet is moving, there's
- 10:27Speaker 1: no way that they are not both facing an influx
- 10:31Speaker 1: of really dangerous and kind of harmful messages to themselves,
- 10:37Speaker 1: which is why and again I hate that we have
- 10:40Speaker 1: to say this every single time we get on Nobody
- 10:44Speaker 1: is condoning acts of violence or saying that what she
- 10:48Speaker 1: did was okay. Nobody is saying that. At the end
- 10:51Speaker 1: of the day, we are saying that these are human beings,
- 10:54Speaker 1: and as much as we don't condone what they did,
- 10:57Speaker 1: we're not the judge and jury in this situation of
- 11:00Speaker 1: anybody's life. And we just know that she is facing
- 11:06Speaker 1: an influx of negative comments and any of us know
- 11:11Speaker 1: how that damaging that can be to somebody's mental health
- 11:15Speaker 1: who already has shown signs personally on their accounts that
- 11:19Speaker 1: they are really struggling. So, I mean, we talked about
- 11:23Speaker 1: this yesterday on the show, but she's been still very
- 11:27Speaker 1: active on social media, and a lot of us have
- 11:30Speaker 1: to say that we don't think that that's a smart move.
- 11:33Speaker 1: And you're in a place tailor where you can pass
- 11:35Speaker 1: the phone off to somebody else. It's not doing you
- 11:38Speaker 1: any favors to be on your phone. And if Dakota's
- 11:43Speaker 1: on his phone, I'd say the same thing. Again, we
- 11:47Speaker 1: don't condone anything that's happening volatile between them at all.
- 11:53Speaker 1: It's just get off your phones, that's all we're saying.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, focus on the things that need to be
- 11:58Speaker 2: focused on.
- 11:59Speaker 3: I mean there but for the grace of God.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Right, It's like, you never know what it's like to
- 12:03Speaker 2: live in someone else's shoes and to go through what
- 12:04Speaker 2: they go through. And I I really do try to
- 12:07Speaker 2: hold back my judgment on things, but man, when the
- 12:10Speaker 2: kids are involved, it's like, come on, you guys, Like
- 12:13Speaker 2: at this point, you know, it's it's almost like in
- 12:18Speaker 2: my mind and I know I'm probably gonna grief for this,
- 12:21Speaker 2: but in my mind, I think, whatever Dakota is trying
- 12:25Speaker 2: to do, he's done it, and now it's just piling
- 12:30Speaker 2: on and it's it's almost like, Okay, there's enough out there.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Let's just sit back and let it unfold. Whatever's going
- 12:37Speaker 2: to happen is going to happen. But at the end
- 12:39Speaker 2: of the day, it's like, this is still your child's mother,
- 12:42Speaker 2: you know, and and for.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Her then you're going to be tied to for the
- 12:46Speaker 1: rest of the rest of your life.
- 12:49Speaker 2: And for her, this is still your child's father. And
- 12:54Speaker 2: it's like, you know, so it's like, get out of
- 12:56Speaker 2: your own head space. Not that they haven't, but it's like, think,
- 12:59Speaker 2: put your literally put your child first, like for one
- 13:02Speaker 2: minute and be like, Okay, you know what, I'm turning
- 13:04Speaker 2: off social media.
- 13:06Speaker 3: I'm getting out of this. I'm like, I don't know.
- 13:08Speaker 2: I think I'm trying to think what I would do
- 13:09Speaker 2: in these situations, but it's just so far removed from
- 13:12Speaker 2: my personal life that I don't know how I would
- 13:16Speaker 2: handle it.
- 13:17Speaker 3: But I gotta believe I would pump the brakes on
- 13:19Speaker 3: a lot of stuff.
- 13:20Speaker 1: But I think that's a good point, Bob. It's so
- 13:22Speaker 1: out of all of our personal lives. Anybody listening to podcasts,
- 13:27Speaker 1: anybody that's even maybe had a stint on the show
- 13:30Speaker 1: in the past, we are talking about another level that
- 13:34Speaker 1: has probably not been reached in previous seasons. We are
- 13:38Speaker 1: talking about This is in the headlines on major publications
- 13:41Speaker 1: every single.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Day, everywhere. This is Yeah, this is.
- 13:45Speaker 1: One of the top stories in the country right now.
- 13:48Speaker 1: And I hate to even say that because there's a
- 13:50Speaker 1: lot of other really important things happening.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Yeah, but you guys have to understand that this is
- 13:59Speaker 1: a level of media scrutiny that nobody listening or that
- 14:05Speaker 1: has been on this show can relate to, maybe other
- 14:07Speaker 1: than Comparrison.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, when he was going through his thing.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, that's the level that we're talking about,
- 14:15Speaker 1: like this is very, very large, and so none of
- 14:19Speaker 1: us we can all sit back and say what we
- 14:21Speaker 1: would do or what we would not do, But none
- 14:24Speaker 1: of us have been in this situation. No, never, and
- 14:27Speaker 1: we never will, and so we don't know what's going on.
- 14:31Speaker 1: But I really do hope that you know she has
- 14:35Speaker 1: taken time in the past to prioritize her mental health
- 14:38Speaker 1: and take breaks and step away here and there. I
- 14:41Speaker 1: think she needs something more intensive. I think that whatever
- 14:44Speaker 1: she's done in the past has given her some of
- 14:47Speaker 1: the tools, but she needs to really just step away
- 14:51Speaker 1: for a second. Yeah, I think that you know, it's
- 14:54Speaker 1: not admitting defeat by stepping away and prioritizing it's act. Actually,
- 15:00Speaker 1: that's the best way probably that you can be the
- 15:02Speaker 1: best mom and show up for you is right once
- 15:06Speaker 1: you show up for yourself. So and Dakota, I hope
- 15:10Speaker 1: you get help too. You've clearly endured stuff. We've seen
- 15:14Speaker 1: the footage. We understand that, and we know that, and
- 15:17Speaker 1: I think you need help as well. You need help
- 15:19Speaker 1: on how to you know, co parent and deal with
- 15:23Speaker 1: somebody that has done that to you physically, and how
- 15:27Speaker 1: to have a relationship with that person, how to raise
- 15:31Speaker 1: a co parent with that person. So you need help
- 15:35Speaker 1: as well, because what we saw in that video footage
- 15:38Speaker 1: was you being a victim of domestic violence and that's
- 15:42Speaker 1: not okay, and you deserve to have somebody help you
- 15:46Speaker 1: and work on your mental health to get through that
- 15:48Speaker 1: situation as well.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Yeah, no doubt, it's really well put.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I mean, I think at the end of the day,
- 15:54Speaker 2: it's one of those things where you look at it
- 15:55Speaker 2: and it's just sort of like, my God, Like whether
- 15:58Speaker 2: what are other two children?
- 15:59Speaker 3: Like, does anyone know what's going on with the other
- 16:02Speaker 3: two kids? Are they with her? Are they with their father?
- 16:06Speaker 1: I believe they're with her father. We did see a
- 16:09Speaker 1: report about her father going to the Utah courthouse weirdly
- 16:14Speaker 1: enough or not weirdly who knows?
- 16:16Speaker 3: Wait, so the children are with her ex husband? Yeah, okay, so.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Her ex husband weirdly enough or maybe was a planed thing.
- 16:24Speaker 1: I don't know. Her ex husband showed up at the
- 16:27Speaker 1: courthouse the same day that Dakota showed up at the
- 16:30Speaker 1: courthouse to file his motion for a restraining order and
- 16:34Speaker 1: for temporary custody, and the paparazzi caught them like intercepting
- 16:40Speaker 1: like talking to each other at the courthouse both met boy.
- 16:43Speaker 1: So I think, you know, as much as we've come
- 16:46Speaker 1: to see in this last week that there's a new
- 16:48Speaker 1: headline every couple of hours every day or something, I
- 16:51Speaker 1: don't think that this story is going away anytime soon.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I think what will make things go away is when you,
- 16:58Speaker 1: like I said, step away out of spotlight and you're
- 17:01Speaker 1: off working on yourself. There's not a whole lot people
- 17:04Speaker 1: can say and do when you're not engaging and you're
- 17:07Speaker 1: not helping to fan the flames. So that's why I
- 17:10Speaker 1: think it's also a smart move to go away, because
- 17:15Speaker 1: this just keeps. It's like it's it's just pouring gasoline
- 17:20Speaker 1: on this fire. You know, with ABC choosing Bob not
- 17:36Speaker 1: to use words like cancelation when they made the announcement,
- 17:42Speaker 1: a lot of people are speculating on the internet that
- 17:45Speaker 1: we're still going to see this season at some point.
- 17:48Speaker 1: What do you think about that? Do you think we'll
- 17:50Speaker 1: ever see this season?
- 17:52Speaker 2: I thought, like everyone else, quite frankly, I thought, you
- 17:55Speaker 2: know what, they're going to take a step back, They're
- 17:57Speaker 2: going to let this thing die down, and then somehow,
- 18:00Speaker 2: some way they're going to do it but you know,
- 18:03Speaker 2: the more stuff that comes out, I think, I think
- 18:05Speaker 2: the more and more public sentiment is against that, right.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I think one of the things that you know, I've
- 18:12Speaker 2: been reading and I can only imagine how it feels
- 18:15Speaker 2: to read this, But you know, they're like click, quit
- 18:16Speaker 2: giving these people a platform, you know, is what people
- 18:18Speaker 2: are saying. And and you know, I get it, right,
- 18:23Speaker 2: It's like, well, you know, if you don't put a
- 18:24Speaker 2: TV show on, then with them on it, then they're
- 18:26Speaker 2: not famous anymore, right, or whatever it might be.
- 18:29Speaker 3: And so I understand the feeling behind that.
- 18:32Speaker 2: You know. Unfortunately, uh, television is big business, as we
- 18:37Speaker 2: both know, and I think if there were some type
- 18:40Speaker 2: of medium for them to put that out and recoup
- 18:42Speaker 2: some of their losses, they probably would. I just don't
- 18:45Speaker 2: know what the time, I don't know what the timing
- 18:46Speaker 2: of that would be. But but who knows. Maybe maybe
- 18:50Speaker 2: it's such a negative sentiment around it that they're realizing
- 18:54Speaker 2: they need to cut their losses and be like, you
- 18:55Speaker 2: know what, we try to deviate from what the show's
- 18:58Speaker 2: always been about, and you know, we thought we would
- 19:01Speaker 2: do something a little bit different. We realized that that's
- 19:03Speaker 2: not the recipe for our fans and for our for
- 19:06Speaker 2: our franchise, and you know, we're going to go back
- 19:08Speaker 2: to basics or something.
- 19:09Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know how they spin this.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I'm sure there's a lot of crisis counselors and Crisliss crisis,
- 19:15Speaker 2: you know, public relations people out there that are already
- 19:18Speaker 2: working on the different spins that we'll be hearing over
- 19:21Speaker 2: the next weeks and months.
- 19:22Speaker 3: But I don't know. I mean, honestly, would I watch it?
- 19:27Speaker 3: I gotta be honest, I.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Don't know that I was going to watch it previous
- 19:31Speaker 2: to a lot of this, And that's just me being
- 19:34Speaker 2: really honest. I liked the idea of I've always liked
- 19:40Speaker 2: the idea. Maybe it was because, you know, Tristan I
- 19:42Speaker 2: kind of started this whole thing of being a rehash
- 19:46Speaker 2: that you know, the public likes and embraces and then
- 19:50Speaker 2: you get a.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Chance to find love yourself and does it work? Does
- 19:53Speaker 3: it not work? Whatever?
- 19:55Speaker 2: But I think, you know, having someone who's already established
- 19:58Speaker 2: notoriety and fame another avenue and bringing them into this,
- 20:04Speaker 2: you know, I think I think we dance with the
- 20:06Speaker 2: devil a little bit, and when now we're getting burned, right,
- 20:08Speaker 2: It's like, if you go back to the basics of
- 20:11Speaker 2: what got this franchise to where it is, it was
- 20:13Speaker 2: always building up and lifting up from within, you know.
- 20:17Speaker 3: And so I mean, we see each.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Other at events, we share these experiences that you know,
- 20:23Speaker 2: regardless of where you were in the ratings or where
- 20:26Speaker 2: you were on your season, or even how long ago
- 20:28Speaker 2: it was or how current it was, we all kind
- 20:31Speaker 2: of had this common thread that was really kind of
- 20:32Speaker 2: a nice thing that we see at a lot of
- 20:34Speaker 2: things that we do.
- 20:35Speaker 3: And and now it's different. It's just different now. And
- 20:39Speaker 3: can you put the.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Genie back in the bottle? I don't know, you know,
- 20:41Speaker 2: but we'll find out, I guess.
- 20:44Speaker 1: But there's no denying that the show has been on
- 20:46Speaker 1: a decline and that experience wasn't tuning in for what
- 20:52Speaker 1: the show was known for because had seasons where people
- 20:55Speaker 1: were finding love Joey, Kadie and Zach, you know what
- 20:59Speaker 1: I mean, And yet not in its heyday, and unfortunately,
- 21:06Speaker 1: or fortunately, however you want to look at it, Mormon
- 21:09Speaker 1: Wives does numbers that Bachelor will not be able to
- 21:15Speaker 1: hit ever in like you know, and so it is
- 21:20Speaker 1: I understand why they did it. I think that they
- 21:24Speaker 1: underestimated who their talent was because I think that when
- 21:30Speaker 1: you come from within the Bachelor bubble, it's a very
- 21:34Speaker 1: controlled universe where you're able to really control who is
- 21:40Speaker 1: in that position, and most of the time that person
- 21:44Speaker 1: doesn't have the legs until after they've had their experience
- 21:48Speaker 1: on the show. You brought somebody in. And I'll say
- 21:52Speaker 1: it again, I've said it before. She didn't need the show.
- 21:56Speaker 1: No show needed her, and that's for the imbalance of
- 22:00Speaker 1: power started. And I would bet money that somebody wasn't
- 22:07Speaker 1: keeping her on a tight leash after filming was done.
- 22:12Speaker 1: And I guarantee you that they keep them on a
- 22:14Speaker 1: tight leash when they come from within the world.
- 22:18Speaker 3: They probably felt like they couldn't keep her on a
- 22:20Speaker 3: lease because she's her own.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Thing, right, But there's ways I think that you can.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Right Like, I don't know the ins and outs. I
- 22:27Speaker 1: don't work on that show. I don't work on her
- 22:29Speaker 1: other show. But you can have talent people producers assigned
- 22:35Speaker 1: to somebody who's constantly calling them, who's then giving those
- 22:39Speaker 1: updates to executives daily, who having her meet with a
- 22:45Speaker 1: therapist or a psychologist from the show on a regular basis. Having,
- 22:52Speaker 1: you know, encouraging her to implement hiring an assistant, or saying, hey,
- 22:59Speaker 1: how's the situation going with your your co parenting situation. Oh,
- 23:02Speaker 1: it sounds like it's going rough. How can we as
- 23:05Speaker 1: a company step in to help you? Because you're our
- 23:09Speaker 1: talent and we want you to feel like you are
- 23:11Speaker 1: being you know, watched over. We want you and your
- 23:14Speaker 1: best mental health when we start to send you out
- 23:16Speaker 1: to do press for this big season. How can we
- 23:19Speaker 1: help you? Right? Because we know that they helped her
- 23:23Speaker 1: when it came to childcare and it came to visiting
- 23:26Speaker 1: her kids while filming. This is the stuff that I
- 23:29Speaker 1: mean when people are like, well can they do that?
- 23:31Speaker 1: Can't be? Yeah, they can't. They do have the power
- 23:33Speaker 1: to do that kind of stuff. They were able to
- 23:35Speaker 1: do it when she was filming. You need to continue
- 23:39Speaker 1: that kind of care with your talent in the interim
- 23:42Speaker 1: before a show starts to air. And it costs money
- 23:46Speaker 1: and it takes time and it takes energy. But they
- 23:49Speaker 1: could have done that, and I'm going to bet that
- 23:51Speaker 1: they didn't.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Yeah, just to get her to the finish line, right, Like,
- 23:54Speaker 3: if nothing.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Else, Yeah, to everybody to the finish line. It gets
- 23:58Speaker 1: everybody to the finish line right again, It's like, could
- 24:02Speaker 1: could somebody be with her twenty four to seven? No,
- 24:05Speaker 1: I'm not saying that, but it sounds like she was
- 24:11Speaker 1: having some sort of volatile relationship with her ex baby daddy,
- 24:16Speaker 1: and it seems to be that everybody knows it, and
- 24:22Speaker 1: the other show capitalizes on that for sure, and nobody really,
- 24:28Speaker 1: I think, did their due diligence into how that is
- 24:31Speaker 1: it between them? Oh, somebody's got footage. Somebody's got a
- 24:36Speaker 1: lot of footage, Like I feel like we're seeing and
- 24:41Speaker 1: you guys can all go find the NBC article that
- 24:43Speaker 1: came out last week that has certain quotes from a
- 24:46Speaker 1: meeting that was recorded with Mormon Wives cast members. Those
- 24:51Speaker 1: quotes are not good and that you know, not enough
- 24:57Speaker 1: was done, and people listening to this might be like, Oh,
- 25:00Speaker 1: she's violin and why should we help her? And why
- 25:03Speaker 1: should we help I'm not talking about helping her. I'm
- 25:06Speaker 1: talking about how do you get a show to see
- 25:10Speaker 1: the light of day? You protect your product, and she's
- 25:14Speaker 1: part of that brand.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I wonder how much I wonder I was gonna say,
- 25:19Speaker 2: I wonder how much she got paid to be the
- 25:22Speaker 2: Bachelorette because we obviously know having her having the background
- 25:26Speaker 2: that she had, she didn't do it for free.
- 25:28Speaker 3: That's for sure.
- 25:29Speaker 1: She didn't do it for free. And I can bet
- 25:31Speaker 1: that she didn't get the standard pay range at a
- 25:36Speaker 1: typical person to ask, because what happens is with a
- 25:41Speaker 1: typical contestant, they do not have the kind of following
- 25:46Speaker 1: and they definitely don't have the kind of following today
- 25:49Speaker 1: even post show that of the ones she has a day, well,
- 25:53Speaker 1: the contestants from the Heyday, like we're talking abouteen twenty
- 25:57Speaker 1: sixteen cast members, those cast members have huge followings, but
- 26:00Speaker 1: they only gained them after being on the show. She
- 26:03Speaker 1: actually has like five times that or something. Again, this
- 26:08Speaker 1: goes back to the show needed her. She didn't need
- 26:11Speaker 1: the show, because that's built in marketing for them when
- 26:15Speaker 1: she uses her platforms to promote the show. So that's
- 26:20Speaker 1: advertising for them, guys. That is like that's her brand,
- 26:24Speaker 1: that's her brand reaching. So that is part of her payment,
- 26:29Speaker 1: is that when she signs that contract is yes, she's
- 26:33Speaker 1: getting paid to shoot the show, but she's also getting
- 26:35Speaker 1: paid to go out there and do media for the show.
- 26:37Speaker 1: She's paid to be posting for the show when clip
- 26:40Speaker 1: stuff would go out like that's all part of it,
- 26:44Speaker 1: and they would have gotten stuff back from that that
- 26:48Speaker 1: they can't get from a typical contestant. And then also
- 26:51Speaker 1: probably the brand integrations. I'm sure brands that already worked
- 26:54Speaker 1: with her, either on her other show or work with
- 26:56Speaker 1: her outside of the show, were like, Oh, you're going
- 26:59Speaker 1: to be the Bachelorette. We want to take this energy
- 27:04Speaker 1: drink that you drink up a notch, and we want
- 27:06Speaker 1: to go up a notch, and we want to now
- 27:08Speaker 1: do an integration on the show because it gets Sennebon.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Senebon was doing a cross marketing campaign between the two shows, right,
- 27:15Speaker 2: and they were the first ones to pull out, which
- 27:17Speaker 2: is kind of what started this whole thing. I mean,
- 27:19Speaker 2: you know, at the end of the day, if it
- 27:21Speaker 2: part of me, also in the jaded part of me,
- 27:24Speaker 2: thinks that the advertiser's not been pulling out or threatening.
- 27:26Speaker 3: To pull out, the show probably would have still aired.
- 27:29Speaker 3: I mean, honestly, I feel like.
- 27:33Speaker 1: We still would have seen a hiatus, We still would
- 27:36Speaker 1: have seen it go on hold for a second. If
- 27:39Speaker 1: advertisers didn't pull out, I think we still would have
- 27:42Speaker 1: seen a pull We're going to hold for a second
- 27:46Speaker 1: while we see what's happening, because the internet outrage from
- 27:50Speaker 1: that video, again not something they anticipated, just went so crazy.
- 28:06Speaker 1: So back to this article, it says when Dakota first called,
- 28:10Speaker 1: the West Jordan spokesman said he told officials that he
- 28:14Speaker 1: was referred to the West Jordan Police Department by the
- 28:17Speaker 1: Draper Police Department because of the jurisdiction of the twenty
- 28:20Speaker 1: twenty four incident. Draper Police told NBC News that a separate,
- 28:25Speaker 1: open domestic violence investigation into Taylor and Dakota, with allegations
- 28:29Speaker 1: on both sides, was called in on February twenty fourth
- 28:32Speaker 1: and February twenty fifth. That's last month's incident that we're
- 28:36Speaker 1: talking about. That police department declined to share further details.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Salt Lake County District Attorney Sam Gill said in a
- 28:45Speaker 1: statement Tuesday that his office requested all the investigative material
- 28:50Speaker 1: to screen the most recent allegations for charges, and confirmed
- 28:53Speaker 1: that his office was looking into a case submitted by
- 28:57Speaker 1: Draper Police. Gill added in the statement, and we made
- 29:00Speaker 1: the request because of the potential that if charges are filed,
- 29:04Speaker 1: they could be enhanced to a domestic violence offence court
- 29:09Speaker 1: records indicate that Taylor pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault
- 29:13Speaker 1: charge in August twenty twenty three that stemmed from a
- 29:16Speaker 1: twenty twenty three domestic violence incident. That's the one we
- 29:19Speaker 1: saw the video of. For other charges in that case,
- 29:22Speaker 1: including assault, criminal mischief, and domestic violence in the presence
- 29:26Speaker 1: of a child, were dismissed with prejudice, the record shows.
- 29:30Speaker 1: So that was that plea deal that I talked about. Now,
- 29:33Speaker 1: obviously she's on probation for that. So if this situation
- 29:37Speaker 1: from last month, or this twenty twenty four situation a light,
- 29:42Speaker 1: that could be a violation of her probation, which could
- 29:44Speaker 1: make those charges from the twenty twenty three incident much larger.
- 29:49Speaker 1: So obviously there's a lot to process here. And like
- 29:52Speaker 1: I said, we're going to keep covering this on the show.
- 29:54Speaker 1: But any final thoughts about the franchise or where you
- 29:58Speaker 1: think it goes from here?
- 30:00Speaker 2: Oh, I mean, more so thoughts about about these two
- 30:03Speaker 2: and their children, Like I just you know, like I said,
- 30:07Speaker 2: there but for the grace of God. Right, So it's like,
- 30:08Speaker 2: you know, you watch people go through this stuff and
- 30:10Speaker 2: you're like, oh my god, this is appalling and then,
- 30:13Speaker 2: but you don't know what.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Got in there. You don't know, you know, you don't
- 30:16Speaker 3: know anything.
- 30:17Speaker 2: And so at the end of the day, I just
- 30:19Speaker 2: I feel for the kids, and I feel for everybody involved,
- 30:22Speaker 2: and I do. I mean, I don't know Taylor, Frankie, Paul,
- 30:25Speaker 2: but I feel for her in that, you know, the
- 30:28Speaker 2: just the fact that she's going through these highs and
- 30:31Speaker 2: lows with a family, and with her family watching it
- 30:35Speaker 2: all and her kids hearing it all, and it's just brutal,
- 30:38Speaker 2: you know, And so I just, man, I just I
- 30:40Speaker 2: hope they I hope they all get to somewhere that
- 30:43Speaker 2: they can live together and cohabitate some space, because they're
- 30:49Speaker 2: going to have to do that with having children together.
- 30:51Speaker 1: And absolutely, and I think you know, people love a
- 30:58Speaker 1: comeback story. Yeah, they love a takedown story even more.
- 31:03Speaker 1: And it's going to be rough here for a little bit.
- 31:06Speaker 1: But like I said, we're going to be bringing you
- 31:08Speaker 1: guys all the news on this because it is evolving
- 31:11Speaker 1: all the time. And so thanks Bob for jumping on.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I hope we get some other news to talk about,
- 31:18Speaker 2: some other stuff to talk about that, you know, maybe
- 31:20Speaker 2: some good news, like maybe all right, they were able
- 31:23Speaker 2: to work things out and now they're hunky dory, but
- 31:25Speaker 2: we're still not going to watch on TV for a
- 31:27Speaker 2: while or something like that. That just shows that there's
- 31:30Speaker 2: progress going in a different direction than down the toilet,
- 31:33Speaker 2: because that's all it feels like right now.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Exactly. Yeah, it's a cloud even for us just reporting
- 31:39Speaker 1: on it, all this negative stuff, but you know, for
- 31:43Speaker 1: sure we're hoping to see some good news come out
- 31:45Speaker 1: of this as well.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Absolutely, Well, it was a pleasure talking with you.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Likewise, thanks Bob, Lovely Day.
- 31:53Speaker 3: You're welcome.
