I'm glad we're back in the studio. We have a bunch of stuff to talk about. 00:00:22:03 - 00:00:27:16 Courtney We do? Yeah. There was a board meeting last week, and so we're going to be meeting. Yes. 00:00:27:18 - 00:00:28:26 MAK Two things. 00:00:28:28 - 00:00:32:01 Courtney It's a two for. 00:00:32:03 - 00:00:41:29 Courtney Okay. Let's go. So we had a board meeting. We had the, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. And find Florida Inland Navigation District. 00:00:41:29 - 00:00:49:12 MAK Yes. Oh, man. I'm so good. You did good. God, I remember I was like, Florida and. Yeah, you got it. 00:00:49:14 - 00:00:56:15 Courtney So they came and spoke about the project, the dredging project on the Intracoastal Waterway in Okeechobee waterway maintenance. 00:00:56:19 - 00:00:57:12 MAK 00:00:57:14 - 00:01:08:18 Courtney That they do. Just kind of gave like a little snippet of what that project looks like, the permitting and also the monitoring that goes on during the. 00:01:08:18 - 00:01:09:25 MAK Project, because they do a lot of that. 00:01:10:02 - 00:01:20:24 Courtney Yes. There was also a parcel near Poinciana Gardens that are ELOC Committee, which is our. 00:01:20:26 - 00:01:22:14 MAK Environmental Lands Oversight committee. 00:01:22:15 - 00:01:23:20 Courtney Yes. 00:01:23:22 - 00:01:24:29 MAK Nailed it. 00:01:25:01 - 00:01:33:01 Courtney So we are going to acquire that piece of property as part of that, which will be conserved forever. 00:01:33:03 - 00:01:50:23 MAK Yes. Yes. Then we talked about an MSBU or a municipal service benefit unit to allow installation of water lines for. What was it? Lake Grove water? Yeah. Lake Grove. So for utilities. 00:01:50:29 - 00:01:51:22 Courtney Yes. 00:01:51:24 - 00:01:53:00 MAK That was good. 00:01:53:03 - 00:01:57:07 Courtney And Kevin Abate, which is our parks department director. 00:01:57:11 - 00:01:59:03 MAK Yes. Parks and recreation. 00:01:59:03 - 00:02:04:22 Courtney Parks and recreation, which also their month is in July. So it's coming up. Parks and rec. 00:02:04:25 - 00:02:06:19 MAK Month. Like their month? 00:02:06:22 - 00:02:07:29 Courtney Yeah. Parks and rec month. 00:02:08:00 - 00:02:11:17 MAK Oh, yeah. That's coming up. So we'll be highlighting a lot of things about our parks. 00:02:11:17 - 00:02:17:22 Courtney Yeah. But he did a presentation to kind of about their reinvestment reserves that they put back into the properties. 00:02:17:24 - 00:02:18:04 MAK I love. 00:02:18:04 - 00:02:21:27 Courtney That all that stuff. So it's very interesting. Lots of. 00:02:21:27 - 00:02:36:19 MAK Info. I'm sure we'll put a link to the meeting in the show notes. So if you want to go back and dive into any of those in more detail, you can feel free. Yeah, they can feel free. This public meeting. I know, yeah. Joint meeting. 00:02:36:26 - 00:02:37:20 Courtney Joint meeting? 00:02:37:21 - 00:02:38:21 MAK Yep. 00:02:38:24 - 00:02:39:09 Courtney Yes. 00:02:39:10 - 00:02:48:21 MAK So there was a lot of public comment about, first of all, joint meeting. That's village of Indian town, city of Stuart school district school board, school district and. 00:02:48:27 - 00:02:49:14 Courtney Martin County. 00:02:49:14 - 00:03:06:13 MAK Board. Right. So we do those quarterly. And I think it's a that's a great opportunity for all of those guys to come together. And then obviously public comment. So there was a lot of public comment about the swimming pool at Martin County High School. 00:03:06:14 - 00:03:07:18 Courtney 00:03:07:21 - 00:03:27:01 MAK Yes. And I thought the comment was comments were good. And then the school district really took a bunch of notes and they are starting to address, the, the requests from the residents and requests. Yeah. Basically people want that to be used as a, you know, or available to the public. It, it and it is available to the public. 00:03:27:02 - 00:03:39:03 MAK They have, much like parks or rental agreements or contract agreements where you can utilize their spaces. And so they did talk about that, but they had some other things that they're going to look into. 00:03:39:06 - 00:03:39:20 Courtney Nice. 00:03:39:24 - 00:03:42:08 MAK Yeah. 00:03:42:10 - 00:03:53:17 Courtney Yeah. And it's really it's an opportunity to for all the different municipalities to share updates on projects that are happening just around town. So that way we're all aware of what's going on. 00:03:53:17 - 00:04:16:06 MAK Right. Because I feel like, you know, even though it's a small community, we kind of focus on, like, what our, what our public works department is doing. You know, cities tour focuses on theirs or whatever. So it, it was really going listening to the meeting and then going through the presentation afterwards. In preparation for this, there was a lot of kind of fascinating stuff going on. 00:04:16:06 - 00:04:21:00 Courtney Yeah. They had they spoke about population projections. 00:04:21:06 - 00:04:50:18 MAK Yep. They always do that. Yeah. So I love that. And, ours were right in line. I think the, the population projections. Well, projections they have for 25. But the populations go back from the late 80s, I think. And they were right in line. It was like one, it was under 2%, 1.68% expected increase. So yeah. 00:04:50:21 - 00:04:51:24 MAK Under 2% is pretty good. 00:04:51:24 - 00:04:53:06 Courtney Or 2% is good. 00:04:53:08 - 00:05:11:05 MAK I think so. I think so. And they also look at, residential units like things that are in development review. So residential units and non residential units. And then look at those for all the municipalities. 00:05:11:06 - 00:05:15:14 Courtney So and there is a map for development for the maps. 00:05:15:14 - 00:05:16:19 MAK Right. Oh cool. 00:05:16:19 - 00:05:16:28 Courtney Yeah. 00:05:17:02 - 00:05:18:14 MAK Yes you can. 00:05:18:16 - 00:05:18:23 Courtney Yep. 00:05:18:23 - 00:05:41:03 MAK Check it out. It has a lot of filters. So you can look at, you know, things that are approved or things that are in construction. You can look at it by area. So it's a pretty cool way to kind of see big picture what's going on in, in our, in our community as a whole. Nice. Yeah, I really dug into that and was I found it fascinating. 00:05:41:08 - 00:05:46:06 Courtney Yes. You you did share with me and now we're sharing it with you. 00:05:46:09 - 00:05:48:23 MAK Yeah. 00:05:48:25 - 00:06:02:24 Courtney So that was kind of like all the things that happened meeting wise. Yes. Right. Yep. I do know it. It was National Mosquito Week, or it is this week. 00:06:02:24 - 00:06:10:14 MAK This week is national. Is it mosquito awareness or are we hosting a troll? Okay, so it's not a week for the mosquitoes. 00:06:10:15 - 00:06:13:28 Courtney No, it's a week for the control of the mosquitoes. 00:06:14:00 - 00:06:14:16 MAK Get them under. 00:06:14:16 - 00:06:26:29 Courtney Control. Yes. Right. And we have a really great team that does that. So, you know, they love to they do a lot of community. 00:06:27:01 - 00:06:36:13 MAK Outreach outreach there at the library sometimes. And they're talking about all the different things that homeowners can do. Right? The tip and toss. We've talked about that. 00:06:36:16 - 00:06:41:10 Courtney Especially with the tire drive, the rain we just had. Yes. Make sure you're tipping and tossing. 00:06:41:11 - 00:06:59:10 MAK Yeah. So like for your containers and things like that, even if you have like bromeliads. Right. Those flowers that kind of catch the water and hold it like a cup. You don't want that. No. Because then the mosquitoes are in there doing their thing, and nobody needs that. 00:06:59:15 - 00:07:01:21 Courtney No. Still standing water? 00:07:01:23 - 00:07:04:08 MAK Yes. 00:07:04:11 - 00:07:06:01 Courtney And easier turns. 00:07:06:03 - 00:07:08:00 MAK Yeah, you could say that too. 00:07:08:02 - 00:07:13:18 Courtney But yeah. So they do an amazing job. And so we just wanted to give them a little shout out. 00:07:13:20 - 00:07:15:03 MAK Thank you. Mosquito control. 00:07:15:07 - 00:07:35:20 Courtney Thank you. And then also another thing about our the staff here in Martin County. We have. Yes. We have our on the job series. I don't know if you guys have checked them out, but if you haven't, I should. They are. I honestly, I love seeing those a lot. 00:07:35:20 - 00:07:56:16 MAK Of you, too, because you, like, you hear about, you know, what this person does for a living. Like what their job is. But I feel like you get to know them a little bit more, their personality. Right. And the jobs that maybe you wouldn't even think. Yeah. Are available or around, like, that's somebody's job and they're going out and they're checking. 00:07:56:18 - 00:08:04:11 MAK I don't know how many trees are supposed to be at a development, and they make sure that they're there. And this one was, Sarah and our, our legislative. 00:08:04:13 - 00:08:11:18 Courtney Yes. Yeah. We've had, veteran services. We've I mean, it's just it's really, really cool. 00:08:11:18 - 00:08:13:07 MAK I think they're unique jobs. 00:08:13:09 - 00:08:21:13 Courtney Yeah. Take a moment. Check those out. We just finished one. Well, William just finished one. Yes. I can't say we know. 00:08:21:15 - 00:08:23:12 MAK We had literally nothing to do with that one. 00:08:23:13 - 00:08:31:03 Courtney That's true. So William just finished one for Sarah. She's our legislative coordinator. 00:08:31:05 - 00:08:32:18 MAK And kind of a big job. 00:08:32:22 - 00:08:36:24 Courtney It is a big job. She's up in Tallahassee a lot and DC. 00:08:36:26 - 00:08:42:20 MAK She brings back information about what's going on in Tallahassee. What's going on with the legislative session. 00:08:42:20 - 00:08:43:19 Courtney State and federal. 00:08:43:19 - 00:08:55:15 MAK And. Yeah. Yeah. And she then makes it. I don't know, bite size information so that, you know, kind of the average person can understand. What does that bill mean? What impacts do they have locally? 00:08:55:17 - 00:08:55:26 Courtney Yeah. 00:08:56:01 - 00:08:56:22 MAK Yeah. 00:08:56:24 - 00:09:00:08 Courtney So yeah, it's a really honestly interesting. You guys should. 00:09:00:08 - 00:09:03:18 MAK Check them out. Yep. So you're going to put a link to that actually. 00:09:03:20 - 00:09:09:21 Courtney Yeah. William really put us going to put a link down in the show notes for local. Yeah. And that's all. 00:09:09:22 - 00:09:10:18 MAK That's it. 00:09:10:20 - 00:09:12:13 Courtney That's all we got. 00:09:12:15 - 00:09:15:24 MAK Okay. Well, so tuning in. 00:09:15:24 - 00:09:18:02 Courtney Yeah. Yep. 00:09:26:16 - 00:09:27:19 Courtney All the things. 00:09:27:21 - 00:09:29:24 MAK All the things I always forget that one. 00:09:29:26 - 00:09:33:28 Courtney Oh, yes.
