- 0:14Speaker 1: Okay, kids, sit down, get your coffee. I got my Starbucks.
- 0:20Let's talk about it. I got a story for you guys.
- 0:26I'm here in a hotel room in beautiful Chinatown, Chicago, Illinois.
- 0:32The weather is just like perfect today. I'm here for
- 0:37a whirlwind trip. So I've been in Indiana for two weeks.
- 0:42And I came here And then I'm going to go
- 0:45back to Indiana and finish some work. Then how to California.
- 0:51We're just going to New York. But I have some
- 0:54family stuff that happened. I got to take care of
- 0:56out west and other things. And then in early October,
- 1:02I have a trip to Vancouver for Hallmark Channel for
- 1:05When It Calls the Heart.
- 1:07Speaker 2: It's all tight. Everything's tight. Tight, tight, tight, tight, tight.
- 1:12But I'm happy to be here.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I can't believe I've been out of California for two
- 1:16and a half weeks total.
- 1:18Speaker 2: And I feel so good. Oh, my God. I'm so calm.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I'm so just, I'm tired because I've been doing so much,
- 1:25but I'm so calm. I love it. I love seeing
- 1:27other things and the whole thing. So, but I had
- 1:32an experience this morning that I was like, I got
- 1:33to share with you guys. This has never happened to
- 1:35me before in my entire life. It's the craziest thing.
- 1:40Even my phone, because my phone isn't. Charging What I
- 1:49wanted to do this fast chart forces fast charges and
- 1:53slow charges That's what's crazy, yeah, I got really tomorrow morning,
- 1:59so I'm like when do I get up?
- 2:03Speaker 2: What's that okay.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Anyway, I got like awesome, okay, so here's what happened
- 2:12to me That never before. So I've been to train
- 2:14a quadrillion times. And so folks, just in case you
- 2:18don't know this, there's like the stairs to go upstairs
- 2:21are usually windy and narrow and just crazy. And a
- 2:25lot of them go upstairs. So I do my best
- 2:29if I can. I always have lower level because I
- 2:31have this bad knee and that luggage.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I was like, it's on lower level. Just get it.
- 2:34Usually you just walk in. There's a room. It's less chairs.
- 2:38It's quieter.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Usually older people, but it's like, it's great. So I
- 2:43got that coach seat lower level. We're in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois,
- 2:51which I actually like that place.
- 2:52Speaker 2: It's really fun. I have a hotel there.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I go there now because the roadway in, high roadway
- 2:56in people, if you are watching this, I told you
- 2:58that you do shows, but if you're watching, hello, I
- 3:02love you guys.
- 3:03Speaker 2: It's a great hotel.
- 3:05Speaker 1: People that go there are a little sketchy, but the
- 3:08staff is wonderful. The rooms are nice and huge and clean.
- 3:13Love the service. So that's my place to go to
- 3:17in Champaign-Urbana, easily.
- 3:18Speaker 2: It was like $ 71. Okay.
- 3:23Speaker 1: So we get in line, and there's like three openings
- 3:27for coach seating. On these trains, there's no roomettes or cars.
- 3:32They have business class. And if you need help, you know,
- 3:35on there.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I don't need any help. I'm just going to go.
- 3:37Because it won't be that far else to get on
- 3:39and sit down. That's what I'm thinking.
- 3:42Speaker 1: So I'm waiting in line, there's one, and it's crowded,
- 3:45going slow. The attendant there goes, says to me, go
- 3:59in this line. I'm like, go in this line. Hey,
- 4:05go in this line.
- 4:06Speaker 2: And I'm like, okay.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And I go in the line. It goes really faster.
- 4:14I go up to the guys. I come on in.
- 4:16And so I go in to....
- 4:23Speaker 2: I go in there.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I look to the right, and it's just luggage. There
- 4:31is no seating. It's a small staircase to go upstairs
- 4:34or that, but there's no seating.
- 4:36Speaker 2: So I'm in the... I'm like in the hall with
- 4:38the entrance there, a hallway by the door.
- 4:40Speaker 1: It's where they let me in and out. So I go, okay.
- 4:43So I turn around. It was so weird. It was
- 4:47like just that fast. I guess that was the last
- 4:49one on. They closed the door. He left somewhere. Because
- 4:52sometimes they close the door from the inside.
- 4:54Speaker 2: He goes from the outside. He was somewhere else. The
- 4:57train is taking off. I start banging on the door.
- 4:59I'm like, hello? I can't. I'm in the wrong car.
- 5:02I'm in the wrong car. I need a car.
- 5:04Speaker 1: And from Champaign, Illinois to Chicago is about two and
- 5:08a half hours. My knee was hurt. I had no
- 5:12place to sit.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I was like, you've got to be shitting me.
- 5:15Speaker 1: And they haven't checked in my ticket or anything. I'm like,
- 5:17I want my points for my ticket. I want my points.
- 5:19They add up.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I use them. Oh, my God.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I was freaking out. Freaking out. I was freaking out.
- 5:33And I was like, oh, my God. What am I
- 5:35going to do? So I saw a call button. For
- 5:42the attendance. I'm pushing that call button. I'm telling you,
- 5:44for 20 minutes, I was just standing there in pain.
- 5:50No one came to check on me. I was like,
- 5:52if I was dying, having a heart attack or something,
- 5:55no one came down to check on me. 20 minutes later,
- 5:59they come down. The guy who's doing it, he's like,
- 6:01what are you doing here? I'm like, I'm stuck. I'm
- 6:05supposed to be in a lower-low seat. I was pushed
- 6:07to go in here, and I've been calling for somebody
- 6:08to help me. I can't go up those stairs. My
- 6:11luggage and my knee and everything. I mean, this is scary.
- 6:13He could have cared less. Usually the Amtrak people are
- 6:17so wonderful. I have to say, I'm not talking short
- 6:20of Amtrak. Usually they're wonderful. Usually they're so attentive and
- 6:24they're great. This guy was just like, then he goes, well,
- 6:28we're stopping at another stop soon. Let me see if
- 6:31there's any seats for you. I said, there better be
- 6:34one because I paid for it. Because it was a
- 6:36sold out train.
- 6:38Speaker 2: He gets on a mic. On a mic. He gets
- 6:40on a mic. I'm used to that. On his walkie-talkie.
- 6:43Speaker 1: And he finds out there's a seat in the car
- 6:45behind the one I'm in. But it's a long way
- 6:47to that entrance. The door's way down there. Okay. So
- 6:52I get off. So I'm about to get off the train.
- 6:54He doesn't help me get off the train. He's really
- 6:57talking to other people. He says, go back there.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I'm limping. And the guy who attended there is just like,
- 7:03take your time. You're not going to help me.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Really?
- 7:05Speaker 2: You're not going to help me? I'm just like, wow.
- 7:07Speaker 1: These people just don't give a shit. So I get
- 7:10on that one. I just get in. I'm like, no
- 7:14one scanned my ticket.
- 7:15Speaker 2: No one did it. I'm just like, what do I do?
- 7:18I sat down, and I'm like, okay. It's just weird.
- 7:22I sat down.
- 7:23Speaker 1: No one sat next to me. I had a great seat.
- 7:26We were delayed, so thank God I had a seat.
- 7:28All that. It was just a weird experience. I'm going
- 7:32to say something to their customer service. I'm going to
- 7:34complain about it, because I just think it's just not
- 7:36fair at all. and I just say, it's not that
- 7:41I want a free ticket or anything, but I just
- 7:42want some kind of compensation, like maybe a lounge voucher,
- 7:47to go in the lounge, or like a food voucher
- 7:50or something, it just was so rude, and I'm a
- 7:52regular on Amtrak, and I just want to preface, normally
- 7:56Amtrak is wonderful, even their customer service is the bomb,
- 7:59that's what I don't mind calling them, they're one of
- 8:00the few customer services that I actually like, but that was,
- 8:06my leg was hurting, my leg's still hurting now, So
- 8:08now I'm in a hotel and I'm relaxing for a
- 8:10little bit, but it just, it was pretty dark.
- 8:14Speaker 2: It was pretty dark.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I got to put this in my refrigerator. It was
- 8:22pretty dark. So that's my story. I've never had that
- 8:24before to me ever. That was such a weird thing
- 8:27that I really felt trapped. A part of me was like, okay, well,
- 8:32I guess the trip was fast, folks. It's like having
- 8:35sea legs. So I was thinking, okay, resourceful. There's a
- 8:42bathroom that has a dressing room in it. I was like,
- 8:47I guess I could just, I would just sit down there.
- 8:49I could have, wouldn't be comfortable, but I could have
- 8:52eventually sat down. But then I've been riding the train
- 8:55illegally because I didn't, they didn't check my, it was
- 9:00just weird. I just felt so, I felt so weird
- 9:02to be like in basically a cargo car. And I
- 9:06told this person, I can't talk. I'm in a meeting
- 9:10until 4 o'clock. What is he not understanding? I gave
- 9:15him the message. I just told him. I can't talk
- 9:17until 4. Anyway, that's a little story for you guys
- 9:22this morning. My days will get better, of course. It's
- 9:25going to get better. I'm not even doubting it. I
- 9:27love you guys. Have a great day. Share some stories
- 9:30with me in the comments.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Bye.
