- 0:00Hello friends! Welcome back to Wonderfully Made,
- 0:04Bible Stories for Children. Last time, we heard
- 0:09about the special promise God made to King David.
- 0:12A promise that showed God's faithfulness and
- 0:15love for his people. Today, we'll hear a quieter
- 0:19story, but one that teaches us something very
- 0:23important. We'll see how King David chose kindness
- 0:28for someone most people had forgotten. Someone
- 0:32who felt afraid and alone. Let's listen carefully
- 0:36to what happened. By now, David was king over
- 0:53Israel. He lived in a palace and led the people
- 0:57with care. One day, David began thinking about
- 1:02his old friend Jonathan, who had been King Saul's
- 1:06son. David remembered the promises he had made
- 1:10to Jonathan long ago. Promises of friendship
- 1:13and kindness. David wondered if anyone from Jonathan's
- 1:19family was still alive, someone he could care
- 1:22for. David asked his helpers if they knew of
- 1:26anyone from Saul's family who remained. They
- 1:29told David about a man named Mephibosheth. Mephibosheth
- 1:35was Jonathan's son. When he was very young, something
- 1:39sad had happened. While escaping danger, he had
- 1:44fallen and been hurt, and he could no longer
- 1:47walk properly. He lived far away and did not
- 1:51think anyone remembered him. When Mephibosheth
- 1:55was told that King David wanted to see him, he
- 1:59felt afraid. In those days, new kings often punished
- 2:04the families of former kings. Mephibosheth likely
- 2:08expected bad news. But David surprised him. David
- 2:14welcomed Mephibosheth kindly. He explained that
- 2:18he wanted to show kindness because of his friendship
- 2:21with Jonathan. David told him that he would always
- 2:25be cared for and that he would be welcome at
- 2:28the king's table, just like one of the king's
- 2:31own sons. Mephibosheth was amazed. Someone who
- 2:37felt forgotten was now remembered. Someone who
- 2:41expected fear was shown kindness. And David kept
- 2:45his promise. This story reminds us that kindness
- 2:56can change everything. David didn't have to help
- 3:00Mephibosheth. He was king. No one would have
- 3:04blamed him for moving on. But David chose mercy
- 3:09instead of fear and love instead of power. Let's
- 3:14think together. Have you ever felt left out or
- 3:20forgotten? Can you think of someone who might
- 3:26need kindness today? How does it feel when someone
- 3:34chooses to be kind to you? God loves showing
- 3:40kindness and he invites us to do the same. Even
- 3:47when people feel small, forgotten, or afraid,
- 3:51God sees them. And sometimes he uses others to
- 3:56show his love in gentle and surprising ways.
- 3:59David's kindness reminds us that God's love is
- 4:03not loud or proud. It is faithful, generous,
- 4:08and full of mercy. Thank you for joining me today.
- 4:14Next time on Wonderfully Made. We'll see what
- 4:18happens as King David grows older and prepares
- 4:21Israel for the future. We'll learn how David
- 4:25shows wisdom and humility by getting the next
- 4:28king ready to lead, and how God continues his
- 4:32plan through David's family. Who will become
- 4:36the next king? And what does God care about most
- 4:40in a leader? We'll find out next time. Until
- 4:44then, remember, You are wonderfully made, and
- 4:48you are deeply loved. Bye for now.
