- 1:48Speaker 4: Today's episode is presented by our partners at Chase Sapphire Preferred.
- 1:52Speaker 4: One thing Roan and I can agree on is that
- 1:54Speaker 4: a lot of our spending tends to revolve around food
- 1:57Speaker 4: and travel. Whether we're trying a new restaurant, ordering groceries,
- 2:01Speaker 4: or booking a trip, those purchases add up. That's one
- 2:05Speaker 4: reason that Chase Sapphire Preferred Cards stands out. Card members
- 2:09Speaker 4: can earn up to three X points on dining, ordering
- 2:13Speaker 4: online groceries, gas stations, and ev charging, plus five X
- 2:19Speaker 4: points on travel through Chase Travel and three X points
- 2:22Speaker 4: on vacation home rentals through top brands like Airbnb and Verbo.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Basically, it rewards a lot of things that I'm already
- 2:30Speaker 1: spending money on anyway.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Exactly, And with all these new benefits, the annual fee
- 2:36Speaker 4: is still just ninety five dollars. To learn more about

- 2:56Speaker 1: When you see some of those rooms on like a
- 2:58Speaker 1: carnival cruise.
- 2:59Speaker 5: Oh god, it's just like you were like a prison.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Ships have six thousand people on right. Yeah. Yeah, every meal,
- 3:05Speaker 5: every meal is a trough as much as they can
- 3:08Speaker 5: and drinking as much as they can.
- 3:10Speaker 1: A buffet.
- 3:11Speaker 5: On a cruise, they call you the squatch.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Could we say just get here here, let's just get going.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Let's just get going because the cruise talk is going
- 3:21Speaker 1: to go. The task to watch that that that all plays,
- 3:25Speaker 1: all that plays. You know, when you start talking about cruises,
- 3:27Speaker 1: I was like, I wanted to save that too.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely John Cruising.
- 3:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I got to get ready for that tournament though, he.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Said he played eighty one holes last weekend, last weekend
- 3:41Speaker 1: over two days.
- 3:43Speaker 5: Did you win it?
- 3:44Speaker 4: I did? When? When? When it? Last year? Yeah?
- 3:46Speaker 5: How much did you take home?
- 3:48Speaker 4: Three hundred and fifty before taxes?
- 3:51Speaker 5: How great is that?
- 3:52Speaker 4: That's pretty good?
- 3:53Speaker 6: Solid?
- 3:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 5: We opened up against the guy that was in the Masters,
- 3:57Speaker 5: me and Biz.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Yeah, he was my teammate that I went it with.
- 4:00Speaker 4: How good was he got? Brad Doky best player in
- 4:02Speaker 4: the whole he was in the Masters.
- 4:03Speaker 5: I hit a hybrid on the like the second or
- 4:05Speaker 5: third holes along part three, and I hit it about
- 4:08Speaker 5: twelve feet from the hole. Me and Bizz are high
- 4:11Speaker 5: five and we're talking ship, you know. He knocks his
- 4:14Speaker 5: four feet We miss our, but he birdies it and
- 4:17Speaker 5: then he hits the next part four, He drives the green. Yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 5: we're four down after five holes. Yeah, and I'm like,
- 4:24Speaker 5: what the fuck are we doing here? We don't belong there.
- 4:29Speaker 5: Then I had to play my next match with Kwan.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Oh yeah, it overslept.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but you gave a nice speech for that.
- 4:35Speaker 4: I gave it.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Hit a couple of good shots, just.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Bring that bring that mike in close. I like, what
- 4:39Speaker 4: everything you're saying?
- 4:40Speaker 1: Oh that guy kwan he overslept. And but then what
- 4:45Speaker 1: did Witney say? He was like, give us, like, give
- 4:47Speaker 1: us a little bit of speech, and they put some
- 4:49Speaker 1: like some music behind it. What did you say? What
- 4:52Speaker 1: did you say to them?
- 4:53Speaker 4: I forgot?
- 4:53Speaker 5: I don't know. Was he was pissed? You know, he's
- 4:56Speaker 5: the first pick, first round draft choice in hockey. Yeah,
- 4:59Speaker 5: I'm like, it's the.
- 5:00Speaker 6: Is golf game struggling though, is it?
- 5:02Speaker 4: Oh?
- 5:02Speaker 5: Yeah, he just knocked one in. I played with the chicklets.
- 5:05Speaker 5: He hold one out. With these hockey guys are slamming
- 5:09Speaker 5: into each other. I had to duck. I'm like, I
- 5:12Speaker 5: already had my hip replace I pretty similarly get my
- 5:15Speaker 5: neck replaced.
- 5:16Speaker 4: My mom had her hip replaced a week ago.
- 5:18Speaker 5: Really yeah, still her to do the rehab, I know.
- 5:21Speaker 5: And it's an unbelievable Yeah, unbelievable progress they made improving
- 5:26Speaker 5: that surgery.
- 5:27Speaker 1: My god, really yeah, what what kind of progress? Because
- 5:30Speaker 1: what does it come from?
- 5:31Speaker 5: Nerve pain?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Like you like you get arthritis in your hip and
- 5:34Speaker 1: then that's what causes a hip replacement.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Well, it could be trauma. You got hurd on it.
- 5:39Speaker 5: It could be just a number of things.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Really, I only asked because I got a I got
- 5:44Speaker 1: a meniscus right now, and they're saying we could either
- 5:46Speaker 1: repair up the meniscus or there's a chance that we
- 5:49Speaker 1: might have to take it out. But then in thirty
- 5:51Speaker 1: years you might need the replacement because it's going to
- 5:55Speaker 1: be bone on bone and you'll get arthritis in the knee.
- 5:58Speaker 1: And so that's what they're like. But in thirty years
- 5:59Speaker 1: there might be such good technology that.
- 6:01Speaker 6: You know, it's got a whole new name.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it might be bionic. You know the picture from
- 6:06Speaker 1: Rookie of the Year.
- 6:07Speaker 5: Some nice shoes you got.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Man, what did you think about Luke Kwan sleeping in
- 6:11Speaker 4: how what was your honest take on that?
- 6:13Speaker 5: You know, after being in pro sports, you know, I
- 6:16Speaker 5: can't say that I'm shocked. You know a lot of
- 6:19Speaker 5: these guys are flying in from all over the world. Sure,
- 6:22Speaker 5: not to make excuses, but they're at the party the
- 6:25Speaker 5: night before, they're on a different time zone, they're in
- 6:28Speaker 5: a strange bed. Shit happens. I wasn't totally shocked, it's
- 6:32Speaker 5: kind of surprised he was the only one.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Well, that's a very generous attitude.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Did you want to break his balls? Did you want
- 6:38Speaker 1: to like get like lay into him like old coach?
- 6:40Speaker 5: I was a basket case. Really. I knew I was
- 6:42Speaker 5: gonna have to play against the guy that was in
- 6:44Speaker 5: the Masters, and I'm like, holy shit, why am I
- 6:48Speaker 5: here at the I'm not even in the same league
- 6:51Speaker 5: as these guys. Yeah, but you were in the same
- 6:54Speaker 5: bunk as Francis, though France has won the whole damn thing.
- 6:57Speaker 1: But did he snore when you guys were sharing? Like
- 7:00Speaker 1: you know, you guys were in the same didn't you
- 7:02Speaker 1: guys live together?
- 7:03Speaker 4: Oh, we were in the house that our rooms were
- 7:06Speaker 4: at opposite ends of the house.
- 7:07Speaker 5: We ask you, this, is that not one of the
- 7:09Speaker 5: greatest places you've ever stayed me? Can you imagine a
- 7:13Speaker 5: better golf trip than that place? No?
- 7:16Speaker 4: I can't.
- 7:17Speaker 5: It's carved this golf course. There's like four of them
- 7:19Speaker 5: carved into the Appalachian mountains.
- 7:22Speaker 1: That's sick.
- 7:23Speaker 5: And the lodges are like you have to see it
- 7:26Speaker 5: to believe it. But I would. I would go there
- 7:29Speaker 5: every year if I had a chance.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I remember waking up to the dulcet tones of you
- 7:34Speaker 4: cranking out cameos.
- 7:37Speaker 5: Well, that's my time of year because it's August and
- 7:40Speaker 5: everybody's doing their fantasy football drafts.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, and I take that shit serious. Oh I
- 7:45Speaker 4: believe it.
- 7:45Speaker 5: And there's ten teams, sixteen teams. They want me to
- 7:48Speaker 5: randomly pull the names out of the hat and then
- 7:51Speaker 5: some people send me statistics. They send me something to say,
- 7:54Speaker 5: like tell Ron he's a piece of shit.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 5: I try to not, you know, swear and use a
- 7:59Speaker 5: lot of vanity, but I have a lot of fun
- 8:01Speaker 5: doing that.
- 8:02Speaker 4: What what what? What's like the it sounds like you
- 8:05Speaker 4: get into it? I mean, what is the level of
- 8:08Speaker 4: detail where the price isn't worth it for you?
- 8:11Speaker 7: Like?
- 8:11Speaker 4: Do you mind if I ask what your rate is
- 8:13Speaker 4: for those?
- 8:14Speaker 5: My rate changes? Really the guy that manages my account,
- 8:17Speaker 5: he just sees what's coming in, and if you know
- 8:20Speaker 5: there's too many, he raises the price a little bit.
- 8:23Speaker 5: But I've just enjoyed it. I went dark for like
- 8:27Speaker 5: two or three years after getting released by the NFL,
- 8:31Speaker 5: and this guy Shane from Cameo kept calling me asking
- 8:35Speaker 5: me to They're persistent, So I said no, no, no, no,
- 8:38Speaker 5: and finally says, just try it.
- 8:40Speaker 4: So I tried it.
- 8:41Speaker 5: And what it did was it let me know that
- 8:43Speaker 5: people still don't all hate me, you know what I mean.
- 8:46Speaker 1: People were actually, hey, grew do this do that?
- 8:49Speaker 5: You well, you know, I was in a dark place
- 8:52Speaker 5: for a while.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Really that must have sucked.
- 8:54Speaker 5: That was tough place, man. But anyways, this cameo it
- 8:57Speaker 5: kind of helped rehab my conscience a little bit.
- 9:01Speaker 1: You're good at cameos, but there's one person at this
- 9:04Speaker 1: company that's first team all cameo, absolute genius at him.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You know who I'm talking about. He's your triviat teams.
- 9:13Speaker 5: Frank Frank, Yeah, he might be.
- 9:15Speaker 6: That's his full time job.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he'll do it like a thousand a year. Like
- 9:22Speaker 1: he cranks out cameos. He'll just like start screaming at
- 9:25Speaker 1: his phone. You can't tell if the Mets lost or
- 9:28Speaker 1: he's just doing a cameo.
- 9:29Speaker 4: You know.
- 9:29Speaker 5: With him and Malise, I'm the head coach of this
- 9:32Speaker 5: Gruden Grinder fantasy trivia team. Yeah, and it is kind
- 9:37Speaker 5: of like managing Lebron and Michael Jordan. You know, these
- 9:40Speaker 5: are the two stars and they're fight over who has
- 9:44Speaker 5: the right answer because you know, they keep track of
- 9:47Speaker 5: stats like how many points did you score. Yeah, they're
- 9:50Speaker 5: both I got that, you know, yeah, they.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Both want it.
- 9:53Speaker 5: There's only one ball.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Who's who's tougher to coach?
- 9:55Speaker 5: What was it?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Would it be like like a Charles Woodson or an
- 9:59Speaker 1: a Warrent app or Frank the Tank?
- 10:01Speaker 5: And Malise missed his flight yesterday? Oh no, So he's
- 10:05Speaker 5: becoming a little bit of high maintenance, fullish, full of himself.
- 10:08Speaker 5: That Kwani little Luke Kwan on them, I mean Kwan
- 10:13Speaker 5: and malisek there you go. They should be here for
- 10:15Speaker 5: your next episode. Over sleep, I don't would you?
- 10:19Speaker 1: Would you? Would you break his balls if you oversleep?
- 10:21Speaker 1: Would you like ream him out? Would you like? When
- 10:23Speaker 1: was the last time you yelled at somebody like Jake?
- 10:26Speaker 6: Specifically?
- 10:27Speaker 5: I try not to do that. These guys, you know,
- 10:30Speaker 5: they they've come through. They've really been clutch.
- 10:33Speaker 4: So Jake had a moment a long time ago that
- 10:37Speaker 4: reverberated through the interwebs of barstool, where they were asking
- 10:42Speaker 4: him about whether or not he wanted to hang out
- 10:45Speaker 4: with women socially, and he said, not really. You know,
- 10:49Speaker 4: I don't really see the point of talking to women
- 10:52Speaker 4: at bars or whatever. I'd much rather just be home
- 10:55Speaker 4: by myself, and.
- 10:57Speaker 6: I think you want he wants to hang out the boys.
- 10:58Speaker 6: He want to hang out his boys.
- 11:00Speaker 4: What it was, that's what it was.
- 11:01Speaker 5: Okay, ye, so too that he was not using soap.
- 11:05Speaker 5: I heard that as well. I think that's why Dave
- 11:07Speaker 5: sent Malise down with me.
- 11:10Speaker 4: That guy.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Yeah, he wasn't using soap. He's anti soap in the shower.
- 11:16Speaker 6: Like not, like I don't shampoo like not. He doesn't
- 11:19Speaker 6: use any.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Soap, so he's just he's just going pure water.
- 11:24Speaker 5: I guess I haven't asked that. I mean, I haven't
- 11:26Speaker 5: gone that close to it, but I do have a
- 11:29Speaker 5: very keen sense of smelling. You would think you would smell,
- 11:34Speaker 5: you know, body odor if the guy wasn't. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:36Speaker 5: I've been.
- 11:37Speaker 6: I mean he must be showering and like boiling hot water.
- 11:42Speaker 6: It's actually clean.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Why did they call you the Sasquatch?
- 11:45Speaker 6: Oh yeah yeah yeah, uh no one really called.
- 11:51Speaker 7: I mean I gave it to myself when I was
- 11:53Speaker 7: in like middle school. It was my gamer tag on PlayStation.
- 11:56Speaker 6: Oh really yeah yeah, And then I didn't want to.
- 11:59Speaker 7: When I was in high school, I was doing a
- 12:00Speaker 7: lot of like internet stuff, and I didn't want to,
- 12:03Speaker 7: like hurt my chances of like going to college, so
- 12:05Speaker 7: I made that my name.
- 12:06Speaker 6: I didn't use my real name. But then I didn't
- 12:08Speaker 6: end up really going to college, so it didn't matter.
- 12:10Speaker 1: And then he started doing stand up comedy, and then
- 12:12Speaker 1: for the first couple of years of stand up comedy,
- 12:14Speaker 1: he would go on stage and they'd have to be like,
- 12:15Speaker 1: coming to the stage, little sasquatch. I love it.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:20Speaker 5: We did a thing called the Pink Pony Club. Yeah exactly. Yeah,
- 12:23Speaker 5: of course you were sitting there in that chair.
- 12:25Speaker 6: I didn't do anything.
- 12:28Speaker 1: They had you do the heavy lifting on that one.
- 12:30Speaker 1: We're gonna need you to sing, dance.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Ask guys are great.
- 12:33Speaker 7: That was you were a professional. We were like, this
- 12:36Speaker 7: is gonna take a couple hours. He did the entire
- 12:38Speaker 7: thing in like ten minutes, memorized every line.
- 12:40Speaker 6: Yeah, it's impressive.
- 12:41Speaker 1: That's sick.
- 12:42Speaker 4: That was that.
- 12:43Speaker 1: You've probably done some commercials and stuff though, acting wise, a.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Few things, I mean, but these guys were fun to
- 12:49Speaker 5: be around. I got to meet the girls too. I
- 12:51Speaker 5: got to meet the movie Yeah, Andy is my favorite.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Yeah. We were on that trivia game and you know
- 12:58Speaker 5: how you're allowed to call a friend.
- 13:00Speaker 1: You called her up.
- 13:01Speaker 5: So let's just call Hannah Montoya.
- 13:06Speaker 1: The answer it was probably like a baseball question.
- 13:09Speaker 5: So my favorite.
- 13:13Speaker 1: About She's got a good podcast. Yeah, does the micropod.
- 13:17Speaker 1: She does like a short podcast of the microwave.
- 13:20Speaker 4: You know, Coach, I appreciate your positivity, but I just
- 13:22Speaker 4: want you to know that this is a safe space
- 13:25Speaker 4: and we like to just chum it up, talk some
- 13:28Speaker 4: ship like whatever. You can absolutely feel free to not
- 13:32Speaker 4: be happy about people or things.
- 13:36Speaker 5: I'm really good at that experiences.
- 13:38Speaker 4: You can cut to the core. You know, you don't
- 13:40Speaker 4: have to like like we asked you about Luke Kwan,
- 13:42Speaker 4: You're like, well, you know, I get it. It's hard.
- 13:44Speaker 4: You don't have to qualify anything.
- 13:46Speaker 5: Just let it fly, Okay.
- 13:47Speaker 1: For example, for example, the hotel that you're staying in,
- 13:50Speaker 1: how is it?
- 13:51Speaker 5: It's different? Everything about that hotel is different where you
- 13:59Speaker 5: at but oh yeah, Tyler's there. You check in and
- 14:02Speaker 5: it's like you check into a bar, Like where do
- 14:06Speaker 5: you check in? A guy goes right here. He gives
- 14:08Speaker 5: you a poker chip that's for a free drink.
- 14:11Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I hate that.
- 14:12Speaker 5: I've never I've never checked in I got a free drink?
- 14:14Speaker 4: Have you?
- 14:15Speaker 1: I guess so, but I never really I don't know
- 14:16Speaker 1: if I've ever cashed it in. I don't know if
- 14:18Speaker 1: they're just trying to woo you to the bar just
- 14:21Speaker 1: to get the the good energy going. But I also
- 14:24Speaker 1: saw some still images of the rooms, and it looks
- 14:26Speaker 1: like the showers in the middle of the bed.
- 14:29Speaker 5: It really is, I'm showering overlooking the streets of Chicago.
- 14:34Speaker 5: This could be interesting, you know what I mean?
- 14:37Speaker 1: Yeah, they could see. They tried to.
- 14:39Speaker 5: Make the Moxie the exact opposite of every hotel I've
- 14:42Speaker 5: ever been. That's how I would explain it.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's different than the Four Seasons in Greece that
- 14:48Speaker 1: you were telling us about.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Yeah, much got back from a cruise in Greece, took
- 14:52Speaker 4: the Four Seasons cruise. I mean, I want to hear.
- 14:55Speaker 4: I want to hear about the most luxurious aspect of that.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Me and him are like luxury travel, Like we're obsessed
- 15:01Speaker 1: with that kind of shit.
- 15:01Speaker 5: They don't want I don't want to leave the boat.
- 15:03Speaker 5: That's how luxurious the boat was. You don't even feel
- 15:06Speaker 5: one wave and you wake up and you're in the
- 15:09Speaker 5: middle of the algae and sea, and then the boat
- 15:12Speaker 5: stops in the morning and you're in this beautiful Greek island,
- 15:15Speaker 5: and I still don't want to leave the boat because
- 15:17Speaker 5: the pool, the service, the room, the weight room, everything
- 15:21Speaker 5: on the boat was better than anything I've ever been to.
- 15:24Speaker 6: That's so well, you know, it was that nice.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Now it's it's quite expensive. And I'm not really a
- 15:31Speaker 5: world traveler. I mean, if I had it to do again,
- 15:33Speaker 5: I would have just stayed at Clearwater Beach. I don't
- 15:37Speaker 5: like to travel. I don't like flying fifteen freaking hours
- 15:40Speaker 5: on a plane with some guy who won't lower his windows. Yeah. Yeah,
- 15:45Speaker 5: We've got two guys yacking for nine straight hour and
- 15:49Speaker 5: it's tough.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Man.
- 15:50Speaker 5: I'm irritable. I don't sleep that much in the conversation.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Disagreeing with somebody.
- 16:02Speaker 5: Yeah, phobia.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:04Speaker 5: I hated the overseas NFL games. Hate them.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Did you guys play England?
- 16:09Speaker 6: I hate them still? I hate them still?
- 16:11Speaker 5: Yeah, London played in Tokyo.
- 16:14Speaker 4: Whoa are you when you're flying over to Greece? What
- 16:20Speaker 4: airline are you flying? Loose loose loots, left, hands left,
- 16:25Speaker 4: that's the Germans and you got you got a nice
- 16:26Speaker 4: business class seat for that.
- 16:27Speaker 5: I hope I got a nice cloud.
- 16:29Speaker 4: We went all out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're we went.
- 16:32Speaker 5: We we let's do it.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Do you know about the do you did you happen
- 16:36Speaker 4: to catch wind at all of the first class scandal
- 16:40Speaker 4: at Barstool Sports. Mm hmm. So I'll give you the
- 16:45Speaker 4: quick uh breakdown there. There was a list created of
- 16:49Speaker 4: employees that were travel travel yeah yeah, that were meant
- 16:54Speaker 4: to when they traveled for Barstool work, were allocated just
- 16:58Speaker 4: to fly business class, first class, whatever, and then many
- 17:02Speaker 4: people who were not. And I was on that list,
- 17:06Speaker 4: so ron by virtue of having been put on there
- 17:09Speaker 4: by the Golf group because I travel with them and
- 17:12Speaker 4: they travel first class and are one of our c
- 17:16Speaker 4: suite guys. I think it was our our chief revenue
- 17:20Speaker 4: officer something like that wrote in a slack group that
- 17:26Speaker 4: he thought it was total bullshit that I would be
- 17:29Speaker 4: on the first class list when you were flying Southwest.
- 17:33Speaker 4: That was the straw that broke the camel's back and
- 17:37Speaker 4: got me removed from the first class list. And all
- 17:40Speaker 4: of this, of course started because he was complaining about it.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Was he said, he was like, how do I get
- 17:45Speaker 1: on the list. He's like, I he demanded to be
- 17:47Speaker 1: on the list, and Francis and I were like, hey, like,
- 17:50Speaker 1: you don't want to go down this. You're gonna it's
- 17:52Speaker 1: a house of cards and you're going to knock a
- 17:54Speaker 1: lot of people off of the first class list if
- 17:57Speaker 1: you start like pulling cards out. We started yanking out
- 18:01Speaker 1: cards and uh, now Francis is in seat forty four B.
- 18:05Speaker 4: But I guess the question is, uh, you know, people
- 18:09Speaker 4: cited that you John Gruden, you know, multi billionaire, uh,
- 18:15Speaker 4: decorated NFL coach, super Bowl winner, was humble enough to
- 18:20Speaker 4: fly Southwest.
- 18:21Speaker 5: When you fly from Tampa to Chicago. And that's pretty
- 18:24Speaker 5: much when I use the barstool flights. I'm flying from
- 18:29Speaker 5: Tampa to Chicago. I would rather fly anywhere. I would
- 18:34Speaker 5: rather go anywhere than O'Hare Airport.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Yeah, so you go to the other one Midway.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's got the direct flight on Southwest. Yeah,
- 18:43Speaker 5: I would much rather fly right.
- 18:44Speaker 1: What's wrong with O'Hair?
- 18:46Speaker 6: Hair socks?
- 18:47Speaker 5: Just getting getting from O'Hare to here, I got with
- 18:50Speaker 5: an uber guy.
- 18:51Speaker 1: He went on the median.
- 18:52Speaker 5: Did you ever see that?
- 18:54Speaker 4: Yeah? I saw that. That drove me crazy, how scared
- 18:56Speaker 4: of death?
- 18:57Speaker 5: But I was happy he did it. That's an hour
- 19:00Speaker 5: have drive sometimes.
- 19:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Yeah, the traffic is brutal.
- 19:03Speaker 5: It's brutal.
- 19:04Speaker 4: I'll take I take the light rail, the whatever it's called,
- 19:08Speaker 4: the just the train in because I like to save
- 19:12Speaker 4: the company money.
- 19:13Speaker 1: That's not true.
- 19:15Speaker 6: I've never seen that heard you.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Huh. Well, when I have another person, I think that, Okay,
- 19:21Speaker 4: now we can justify the uber if at least there's
- 19:24Speaker 4: two of us splitting it.
- 19:25Speaker 6: The train goes to the loop.
- 19:27Speaker 4: Yeah, that's usually where I'm staying.
- 19:29Speaker 6: Oh, I guess that makes sense. I usually just come
- 19:31Speaker 6: straight to the office.
- 19:34Speaker 4: But I do so. I guess my point is that
- 19:36Speaker 4: you go to Midway and people thought this was John
- 19:40Speaker 4: Gruden Humble Southwest. Turns out it's more for efficiency's sake.
- 19:46Speaker 5: Yeah. I really don't care how I fly. Honestly, I'm.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Low maintenance.
- 19:52Speaker 5: Well that's no maintenance. Yeah, honestly, I'll coach guys with
- 19:55Speaker 5: low maintenance, some maintenance, and high maintenance, and it's tough.
- 19:58Speaker 5: It's hard. Really, I don't want to be any maintenance. Yeah,
- 20:02Speaker 5: whatever you think, I'll stay wherever you say. You know
- 20:04Speaker 5: what I mean. I work with people that don't like
- 20:07Speaker 5: this hotel. They don't like the food here, they don't
- 20:10Speaker 5: like the car service. Yeah, and just shut up.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Do the job.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Did you ever experience did you ever like dip your
- 20:18Speaker 1: toe into being high maintenance? Where were you ever like
- 20:21Speaker 1: for like, let me see how it feels to like
- 20:23Speaker 1: really like demand this like nice thing, this like car
- 20:27Speaker 1: service first class.
- 20:30Speaker 5: Rich Carl Man, I started drinking cabernets, you know, and
- 20:33Speaker 5: I started looking at the bottle and saying, that's that's
- 20:36Speaker 5: kind of lackluster. Give me one of those camises, you
- 20:40Speaker 5: know what I mean. Okay, the selfish indulgences every once
- 20:43Speaker 5: in a while, but for the most part, I'm easy.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Is that your main indulgence of wine? Because I remember
- 20:49Speaker 1: we did that NFL Draft show together, which was an
- 20:52Speaker 1: absolute blast just to highlight career moment for me to
- 20:56Speaker 1: be able to sit there and do that with you.
- 20:58Speaker 1: But afterwards, you got you got sat down, cracked a
- 21:01Speaker 1: little bit of a bottle of wine, you know.
- 21:03Speaker 5: The off special occasions, you know, we bring a couple
- 21:05Speaker 5: of good bottles in. Yeah, and after the show is over,
- 21:09Speaker 5: we celebrated good night's hard work.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Do you remember what? Why do you remember what you
- 21:13Speaker 1: were drinking that night?
- 21:14Speaker 4: What?
- 21:15Speaker 1: It was a Cavens that night. This guy's a. This
- 21:18Speaker 1: guy's an absolute wine genius over here.
- 21:21Speaker 4: No, I'm just a snob from just a snob. But
- 21:25Speaker 4: I'll bring us some nice bottles to the Internet Invitational
- 21:28Speaker 4: if you, if you would indulge with me, talk.
- 21:30Speaker 1: To him about some of those wines you were showing
- 21:32Speaker 1: us at your house up state. You were showing us
- 21:35Speaker 1: some absolute head.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I've got some special occasion wines, you know, some
- 21:39Speaker 4: some nice Bordeaus, uh, some some you know, first growths,
- 21:44Speaker 4: uh and uh. Then also it sounds like you like
- 21:47Speaker 4: California cabs.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Well, when I was with the Raiders, we had training
- 21:51Speaker 5: camp in Napa m I swear to guys, so on
- 21:54Speaker 5: the player's day off, you know, every once in a while,
- 21:57Speaker 5: my wife would come up and we'd go to the
- 21:59Speaker 5: came Miss Vineyard, or we'd go over here to Silver One.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:04Speaker 5: I mean they're all there.
- 22:05Speaker 4: Yeah, you know.
- 22:05Speaker 5: And then I started thinking, maybe I'll get four or
- 22:08Speaker 5: five bottles of that. And I got a nice little
- 22:10Speaker 5: closet full of nice cabs.
- 22:12Speaker 1: That's nice to go.
- 22:13Speaker 4: That's right.
- 22:14Speaker 1: You ever duck out there with any of the players,
- 22:16Speaker 1: You ever take rich Gannon out there while you were
- 22:18Speaker 1: up there or was it a coaches only.
- 22:20Speaker 5: Or pretty much coaches pretty much my wife. You know,
- 22:24Speaker 5: when you're in that business, there's not a lot of
- 22:27Speaker 5: fret andizing socializing. You're you're working all the all the time,
- 22:32Speaker 5: and when you do get one night off, I would
- 22:34Speaker 5: usually have a hot date or something with my wife.
- 22:36Speaker 4: We'd do something that's really nice. Love that.
- 22:40Speaker 1: It's also like I feel like coaches. Nobody has a
- 22:44Speaker 1: tougher schedule than coaches. I feel like the Eagles just
- 22:48Speaker 1: hired a guy, Sean Mannion to be their offensive coordinator,
- 22:51Speaker 1: and since it's his first year being the offensive coordinator,
- 22:55Speaker 1: he's working from five am till like eleven pm, so
- 22:59Speaker 1: he's just not seeing his family at all. And I
- 23:01Speaker 1: feel like that's like a common refrain for coaches. Did
- 23:04Speaker 1: you you feel like you saw a lot of that,
- 23:05Speaker 1: Like the guys are just in the.
- 23:07Speaker 5: Building exclusively, Yeah, all the time?
- 23:09Speaker 1: And where does where's the family time get carved out?
- 23:11Speaker 4: In? That?
- 23:12Speaker 5: Is this hard man? You have a great wife. The
- 23:14Speaker 5: wife's got to raise the kids quite a bit. Yeah,
- 23:17Speaker 5: my dad was a coach. My mom has a big
- 23:19Speaker 5: saying who we are? You know, but uh, I had
- 23:22Speaker 5: the philosophy. You know, when you're home when you're there
- 23:25Speaker 5: with your kids. Be there when you're there, I mean,
- 23:28Speaker 5: don't be elsewhere. But it does make it hard to
- 23:30Speaker 5: have a good golf game. That's the one thing about golf.
- 23:34Speaker 5: I don't know about you, but it takes a lot
- 23:36Speaker 5: of time.
- 23:36Speaker 4: It's very frustrating how much you need to play in
- 23:40Speaker 4: order to maintain a decent level.
- 23:43Speaker 5: Yeah, like you said, you played eighty holes in one weekend.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Yeah, well I'm divorced.
- 23:48Speaker 5: That explains why you're able to do what you do exactly.
- 23:52Speaker 5: My wife would look at me like, are you out
- 23:53Speaker 5: of your mind? The eighty holes? Yeah, you know, but
- 23:58Speaker 5: it's so many. And then you go play in a
- 24:01Speaker 5: pressure tournament were a lot of money. They're talking four
- 24:05Speaker 5: million bucks.
- 24:06Speaker 6: It's a ton of money, you know.
- 24:08Speaker 5: And you're hitting an alternate shot tournament and if you
- 24:10Speaker 5: hit a bad shot, you're letting everybody down. Oh yeah,
- 24:13Speaker 5: and I worry about that more than I do winning
- 24:16Speaker 5: the damn tournament.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Shot totally totally.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:20Speaker 6: Yeah, then no one's going to tell you they're mad.
- 24:22Speaker 6: But everyone's mad.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Yeah yeah.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I like when Frankie missed that shot and everybody had
- 24:28Speaker 1: to be like, all right, Franky, I don't worry about it, Frankie.
- 24:32Speaker 7: And then nobody said a word at that point, and
- 24:34Speaker 7: a lot of my respect when you won that thank you.
- 24:37Speaker 5: You made some shots and that look, that's that's pressure.
- 24:41Speaker 5: And a lot of people I feel pressure on the
- 24:43Speaker 5: golf course. Yeah, a lot of people apply pressure. You know,
- 24:46Speaker 5: they make shots, they make the other team make a shot.
- 24:49Speaker 5: When you're out there and I'm not good enough to
- 24:52Speaker 5: really walk up there confidently looking at that trap, looking
- 24:57Speaker 5: at this green, confidently make a shot. That pressure. That's tough,
- 25:02Speaker 5: tough man.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Does it get? Does it?
- 25:04Speaker 8: Like?
- 25:05Speaker 1: How high does the nerves get in comparison to before
- 25:08Speaker 1: an NFL game? Obviously you're going to have nerves even
- 25:11Speaker 1: as a coach, but how how does it Does it
- 25:14Speaker 1: simulate that for you in your brain? Or is it
- 25:17Speaker 1: a completely different beast way lower pressure because of the
- 25:19Speaker 1: stakes being lower.
- 25:21Speaker 5: Yes, a good question, But I think it's all relative.
- 25:23Speaker 5: It's all similar, you know. Yeah. I mean you run
- 25:27Speaker 5: out there on the field and you see the ravens
- 25:29Speaker 5: coming out of the tunnel and the crowd's booing you
- 25:31Speaker 5: you know, you get and then all of a sudden
- 25:35Speaker 5: you're out there and freaking somewhere in some Appalachian mountain
- 25:39Speaker 5: and you got to make a three foot But yeah,
- 25:41Speaker 5: I mean, with Dave Porto talking on it, you can't
- 25:43Speaker 5: blame the quarterback. You can't blame anybody. You got to
- 25:47Speaker 5: do it yourself. Yeah, And that's what's saying, that's what's
- 25:49Speaker 5: so great about that sport.
- 25:52Speaker 1: You know, I was rewatching the couple Super Bowls ago.
- 25:56Speaker 1: It was Eagles Chiefs. Eagles lost that game, and I
- 25:58Speaker 1: was rewatching the national anthem this weekend. Chris Tableton sung
- 26:02Speaker 1: a beautiful national anthem. But during the national anthem, they
- 26:05Speaker 1: do a close up of Nick Seriori ball. He feels
- 26:09Speaker 1: the full pressure of the moment and he's got tears
- 26:13Speaker 1: both eyes simultaneously streaking from both eyes. And I was
- 26:17Speaker 1: just thinking about, like that, what kind of like what's
- 26:19Speaker 1: making him cry in that moment? Is it like a
- 26:22Speaker 1: combination of the pressure or the culmination of like all
- 26:25Speaker 1: of his wants through his entire life. What do you
- 26:28Speaker 1: think it was for him in that moment? And did
- 26:30Speaker 1: you ever did you ever break down and crack a
- 26:33Speaker 1: tear out of your eye before a game or in.
- 26:36Speaker 5: A big moment when you get in a game like that,
- 26:38Speaker 5: you're probably you know, thanking the man upstairs for you
- 26:42Speaker 5: know what a journey. Yeah, you look at Siriani where
- 26:45Speaker 5: he started as a player. You know, the ambition, the
- 26:49Speaker 5: effort that he's put in to his coaching career and
- 26:52Speaker 5: to be able to say You're in there in the
- 26:54Speaker 5: Super Bowl and you're listening to Chris Stapleton saying, I
- 26:57Speaker 5: had we had Celine Beyond, we had Sting bon Jovi
- 27:02Speaker 5: was at our game. I'm walking out there for the
- 27:04Speaker 5: coin toss and Don Shula, Larry Zaka, the seventeen and
- 27:08Speaker 5: old Dolphins are behind me. Holy and then Larry Zaka says,
- 27:12Speaker 5: go get him coaching. I get on the headset. I go, hey, Jay,
- 27:15Speaker 5: Larry Zaka knows my name. It's overwhelming. You know the stage,
- 27:23Speaker 5: you know, you say, I'm a part of this.
- 27:24Speaker 6: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 27:25Speaker 5: You know, a slappy like me from Dayton. You know.
- 27:28Speaker 5: I'm sure Siriani probably felt, you know, humbled. Yeah, this
- 27:31Speaker 5: is really the culmination of a lot of hard work
- 27:35Speaker 5: and if we could just win this summer bitch, you
- 27:37Speaker 5: know what I mean. But it's a great thing.
- 27:39Speaker 4: I distinctly remember watching the Super Bowl you won with
- 27:42Speaker 4: the Bucks. Yeah, rich Gannon had those ridiculous brown earpads
- 27:48Speaker 4: in his helmet. Ed. I can't remember the quarterback for
- 27:51Speaker 4: the Raiders.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Yes, Stee prep guy, great guy.
- 27:54Speaker 4: I think he won NFL MVP that year, right, And
- 27:58Speaker 4: but it was your defensive like backs and and uh.
- 28:06Speaker 6: Yeah you like Baker. You're a big Baker guy.
- 28:08Speaker 4: I did.
- 28:09Speaker 5: I am Baker Man golf with Baker and the pro
- 28:12Speaker 5: am for the Valspar tournament.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Cool.
- 28:14Speaker 5: It was Governor DeSantis, Ron de Barber, Jordan Spief and
- 28:19Speaker 5: Baker Mayfield. They made us play our own ball and
- 28:24Speaker 5: it was the longest round. I quit after thirteen.
- 28:29Speaker 6: I had to go back.
- 28:30Speaker 5: We're filming our quarterback shows. Really, we got a guy
- 28:32Speaker 5: flying in. I'm like, how many how long are we
- 28:34Speaker 5: going to wait? You know, because all these amateurs they
- 28:37Speaker 5: want to see what they can score on the course.
- 28:41Speaker 5: That's really made up for these tour players. Yeah, and
- 28:45Speaker 5: some of us take it way too serious.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Man, Yeah, how are they? How is DeSantis? How was
- 28:50Speaker 1: how was Baker? What were their games?
- 28:53Speaker 5: Was awesome?
- 28:54Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 28:54Speaker 5: Yeah, Cad he's a cool guy too, really Yeah, not
- 28:57Speaker 5: a real big guy, you know, but he could thunder it.
- 28:59Speaker 5: He could they'll hit it, man.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:01Speaker 5: But Baker's a good player, a little wild at times,
- 29:04Speaker 5: that makes sense. Santus is good, he's he's okay. He
- 29:07Speaker 5: brought his little kid with him, so we really had
- 29:09Speaker 5: a six them. But uh, Ronde's a real good player.
- 29:13Speaker 1: That's it. That's awesome.
- 29:15Speaker 6: What do you think of uh, it's gonna be a
- 29:16Speaker 6: little bit of curve ball. What do you think of
- 29:17Speaker 6: Mac Jones?
- 29:18Speaker 5: You Mac Jones guy, Mac Jones forty nine er guy.
- 29:21Speaker 5: You're talking? Yeah, yeah, I got to meet Mac. He's
- 29:26Speaker 5: in the right spot.
- 29:27Speaker 6: Yeah, that's what I think.
- 29:28Speaker 5: Sam Darnold went to Minas, went to San Francisco, parked
- 29:31Speaker 5: his his bus there for a year, and came out
- 29:34Speaker 5: a better quarterback. Yeah. I think Mac Jones proving what
- 29:37Speaker 5: he did last year coming in for Purdy.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 5: Yeah, he'll get another shot. He'll be a starter against.
- 29:42Speaker 6: Yeah, I think.
- 29:43Speaker 4: So.
- 29:43Speaker 7: I got a Mac Jones Patriots jersey that I'm holding
- 29:45Speaker 7: on to win for that price to increase.
- 29:48Speaker 5: Are you a Patriots fan?
- 29:49Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 29:49Speaker 5: Yeah, we all got serious problems.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Tell him because he's trying to rub this AJ Brown
- 29:56Speaker 1: trade in my pace. He's trying to take a victory
- 29:58Speaker 1: lap on AJ Brown getting traded up there I think
- 30:02Speaker 1: that's it's a win win trade. The Eagles get a
- 30:04Speaker 1: first and get off of that big salary, and then
- 30:06Speaker 1: the Patriots got a number one wide receiver for Drake
- 30:10Speaker 1: May a deep off three.
- 30:11Speaker 5: That's so I see it too. You know, when I
- 30:13Speaker 5: was coaching, I took a lot of pride in helping
- 30:16Speaker 5: veteran receivers kind of reinvent themselves. We got Irving Friar
- 30:20Speaker 5: in Philly. Yeah, and he was thirty three, came over
- 30:22Speaker 5: from Miami, played great. We got Joey Galloway from Dallas.
- 30:26Speaker 5: He played great in Tampa.
- 30:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 5: We got Jerry Rice to come to the Raiders when
- 30:30Speaker 5: he was thirty eight, played great. Keenan mccardill helped us
- 30:33Speaker 5: win a Super Bowl. We got him from Jacksonville. But
- 30:36Speaker 5: I think aj he needed to get out of Philly.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Why.
- 30:39Speaker 5: I just think that the karma that team. They didn't
- 30:42Speaker 5: look like they really even great at each other. There
- 30:45Speaker 5: wasn't something right going on there.
- 30:47Speaker 6: The reading, I think the reading, But I do think that's.
- 30:49Speaker 5: A run first offense. Yeah, I think they're going to
- 30:52Speaker 5: go through Jalen and go through sa Quon.
- 30:54Speaker 1: They got the tight end.
- 30:55Speaker 5: They got Devonte Smith, right, yeah, and he was standing
- 30:59Speaker 5: over there is the ex receiver on the back side
- 31:02Speaker 5: of trips. Mc McDaniels is gonna put him in motion.
- 31:05Speaker 5: They'll put them all over the field. Oh yeah, because
- 31:07Speaker 5: New England's gonna want to prove that they did the
- 31:10Speaker 5: right things. Yeah, they're gonna. Yeah, They're gonna go all
- 31:12Speaker 5: out to get him a ton of catches. I think.
- 31:14Speaker 1: I mean Diggs had that. Digs had a thousand yards
- 31:17Speaker 1: last year. So in that offense, you can get a
- 31:20Speaker 1: lot of targets. You can manufacture some stuff for them, get.
- 31:23Speaker 5: A great quarterback. Yeah, he's stut got stut Man. Yeah.
- 31:26Speaker 7: What do you think do you think they're gonna be
- 31:28Speaker 7: good this year? I think they're gonna be worse this
- 31:29Speaker 7: year than they were last year. I think they're gonna
- 31:31Speaker 7: be good.
- 31:31Speaker 5: Still, we're gonna have a tougher schedule.
- 31:33Speaker 7: Their schedule is crazy, a lot tougher. Yeah, like week
- 31:36Speaker 7: like nine through thirteen, I think, or fifteen. It's like
- 31:39Speaker 7: really really hard.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Why do we always see a regression from teams that
- 31:43Speaker 1: lose the Super Bowl? Why are those the most likely team?
- 31:46Speaker 1: Or like it's pretty consistent that they're regressing. It's not
- 31:49Speaker 1: like they make it back. You're right there at the precipice,
- 31:52Speaker 1: and then you get back, it's usually like a step backwards.
- 31:55Speaker 5: That's think. It's a long season, yeah, you know, yeah,
- 31:59Speaker 5: less time to recover. And usually the teams that are
- 32:02Speaker 5: in the Super Bowl, they get they lose coaches, they
- 32:05Speaker 5: lose players. They got guys that want new contracts, so
- 32:09Speaker 5: they got to part with some players. But the turnover
- 32:13Speaker 5: on the NFL rosters these days is unbelievable. I'm going
- 32:16Speaker 5: through each division right now. We're getting ready to release
- 32:20Speaker 5: our divisional forecasts, you know. Yeah, but the we're doing
- 32:24Speaker 5: the AFC West right now. It's unbelievable how many new
- 32:28Speaker 5: coaches and new players are on all these teams.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Who do you lie? You excited about the Chargers adding
- 32:33Speaker 1: McDaniel to that offense.
- 32:35Speaker 5: It's a nice Yeah. I don't know him. I don't
- 32:37Speaker 5: I don't recognize his offense. He does some weird things
- 32:41Speaker 5: in a good way, or what do you do I
- 32:42Speaker 5: mean in a good way. I think they got to
- 32:44Speaker 5: get Herbert, Yeah, they got to get Herbert protected. They
- 32:48Speaker 5: did get the center from the Commanders. That's going to
- 32:50Speaker 5: help them. Yeah, getting the two tackles back Slater and
- 32:54Speaker 5: all healthy. If they can protect Herbert better, lookout man.
- 32:59Speaker 5: But they got a new defensive coordinator, a new offensive coordinator.
- 33:03Speaker 5: They are still the Chargers. It's a hard team for
- 33:06Speaker 5: me to like. I hope they lose everything up hating them. Yeah,
- 33:13Speaker 5: everybody in the West, he just Oh.
- 33:15Speaker 6: God, so is your team now? Like, would you say
- 33:17Speaker 6: you root the most for the Bucks.
- 33:19Speaker 5: Bucks and Raiders. My son is still strength coach with
- 33:22Speaker 5: the Raiders, so I root for them. We're heading out
- 33:24Speaker 5: there to Vegas next week to see my son and
- 33:27Speaker 5: see Kenny Chesney at the Spear Cool. Yeah.
- 33:30Speaker 4: I love that.
- 33:32Speaker 5: My wife's brother went to college with Kenny at East
- 33:36Speaker 5: Tennessee State, so we've known Kenny before he was Kenny.
- 33:40Speaker 5: You know what.
- 33:40Speaker 6: That's crazy.
- 33:41Speaker 5: He's pretty cool.
- 33:42Speaker 6: Yeah, that's it.
- 33:42Speaker 1: He's got great tailgates for it, like everybody, Like I
- 33:45Speaker 1: remember right out of college, everybody would just go to
- 33:48Speaker 1: the Kenny Chesney tailgate just for like just for the
- 33:50Speaker 1: vibes of everybody being what he.
- 33:52Speaker 5: Calls it the viberoom. Yeah, and he comes into that
- 33:55Speaker 5: vibe room right before he hits the stage, and I
- 33:58Speaker 5: swear they want guys in that have positivity and it's
- 34:03Speaker 5: and they try to get the vibe, the energy right.
- 34:06Speaker 5: It's like being in the locker room before the game.
- 34:07Speaker 5: Everybody up, you know, it's it's it's cool. They got
- 34:11Speaker 5: to used to have the corona light people in there
- 34:13Speaker 5: and we pop a couple coronas and get the vibe,
- 34:17Speaker 5: get the energy right for the concert.
- 34:18Speaker 1: So you feel the pressure in that situation, be like, hey,
- 34:21Speaker 1: let me get some vibes, Like, let me make sure
- 34:22Speaker 1: I'm bringing the juice for these guys.

- 35:52Speaker 1: Dude, his son, I don't know if you know his
- 35:54Speaker 1: son is a stud powerless.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Well, I know that, and I know that he was
- 35:58Speaker 4: also a UFC fighter, my youngest son. Oh okay, I
- 36:02Speaker 4: remember that from a hard knock season.
- 36:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:06Speaker 4: So your other son, Yeah, he's in a like Olympic lifting.
- 36:10Speaker 5: He's got some Well, he won the World powerlifting championship
- 36:15Speaker 5: in Belarus. Yes, that's fucking sick eighty pound guy. He
- 36:19Speaker 5: broke the national record for the bench press just recently
- 36:22Speaker 5: in Las Vegas, like four hundred and ninety five Esus
- 36:25Speaker 5: Christ with a pause.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, he says, he's no momentum.
- 36:31Speaker 5: I remember he was growing up. He was like seventeen
- 36:33Speaker 5: years old and I would hear the weights in the
- 36:35Speaker 5: house and I called him in. I said, Deuce, what
- 36:38Speaker 5: do you want to be? He said, I want to
- 36:42Speaker 5: be a freak. And when he won that thing in Belarus,
- 36:46Speaker 5: I said, congratulations, man, you already freak me. But it
- 36:49Speaker 5: was one of the coolest things I've ever seen, because
- 36:52Speaker 5: we fly all the way to Belarus and that's communism
- 36:55Speaker 5: over there.
- 36:56Speaker 4: Shit.
- 36:57Speaker 5: I mean, I'm not really it's not like I'm not
- 36:59Speaker 5: a basket case. But they got guy one hundred and
- 37:01Speaker 5: eighty pound guys from almost every country and they're singlets
- 37:05Speaker 5: and they're all fucking you know jack Yeah, and they're
- 37:08Speaker 5: doing the bench press the squad and.
- 37:11Speaker 1: That's like the cradle of powerlifting over there. Like the Belarusians,
- 37:15Speaker 1: like those are guys who are guys, and they don't
- 37:18Speaker 1: have football and basketball over there, they got powerlifting. So
- 37:22Speaker 1: for him to go over there and beat him at
- 37:23Speaker 1: their own game.
- 37:25Speaker 5: They keep they keep announcing how many kilograms and I'm like,
- 37:28Speaker 5: how many pounds is how much weight? I don't know
- 37:32Speaker 5: how much a kilogram.
- 37:33Speaker 4: Is pounds that's uh yeah two point two.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Yeah, get to know fran this is a bit of
- 37:41Speaker 1: a but he's more of like uh calisthenics and uh
- 37:45Speaker 1: uh like kettlebell lift.
- 37:47Speaker 4: Functional, functional mobility, body overall strength. Just trying to look
- 37:52Speaker 4: good naked.
- 37:54Speaker 5: It's a good way to look at it. Yeah, when
- 37:55Speaker 5: you get older like me, I've had two elbow surgeries
- 37:59Speaker 5: and I had my hip for place, so certain ranges
- 38:02Speaker 5: of motion really bother the elbow. You know. I could
- 38:05Speaker 5: still do the bench press for some reason, but I
- 38:08Speaker 5: can't go above the head. And do you know these
- 38:10Speaker 5: trice some of these things skull crushers, some of them
- 38:13Speaker 5: are tough man. Yeah, but uh yeah, good for you.
- 38:16Speaker 5: You look like you've been pumping a lot.
- 38:19Speaker 2: I've been there.
- 38:20Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 38:21Speaker 5: Yeah, you got some new material. You come up with
- 38:25Speaker 5: new material for your comedy comic comedian. Yeah yeah.
- 38:29Speaker 6: Me and Francis both through stand up.
- 38:30Speaker 1: They tour, they're like they like sell out places, like
- 38:33Speaker 1: there's studs at comedy. It's amazing.
- 38:36Speaker 5: I know, I would like to I would like to
- 38:37Speaker 5: just know what do you do to come up with
- 38:39Speaker 5: new content.
- 38:40Speaker 7: Just right, like sit down and write. I mean a
- 38:43Speaker 7: lot of the best jokes just come to your head naturally,
- 38:45Speaker 7: but like sometimes you got to actually sit down and
- 38:47Speaker 7: write shit out, which sucks.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Process is mad. I like to go out and live
- 38:53Speaker 4: an experience and then those funny things happens, whereas he
- 38:56Speaker 4: takes more of a sort of staying side approach.
- 39:01Speaker 5: Yeah, Frank calli Endo's my friend.
- 39:03Speaker 4: Yeah, he does an amazing impression of you.
- 39:05Speaker 5: He does. He's great. We saw him in Tampa and
- 39:09Speaker 5: it was cool. I got to come on stage, like
- 39:11Speaker 5: I was doing Monday Night Football and instead of Mike Turrico,
- 39:16Speaker 5: he was Mike Teria. Yeah, so I would make a
- 39:19Speaker 5: comment like I wanted him to be John Madden. He was.
- 39:23Speaker 5: He was John Madden and he could do Pat summerle
- 39:25Speaker 5: but he could do.
- 39:27Speaker 1: He's a machine.
- 39:28Speaker 5: He could go one voice to another.
- 39:30Speaker 1: It's it's insane.
- 39:31Speaker 7: That's what's crazy. I don't even know how that that.
- 39:33Speaker 7: I feel you gotta be like somewhat born with the
- 39:35Speaker 7: ability to do that.
- 39:36Speaker 1: But he's very studied. He talks about like studying the
- 39:39Speaker 1: mouth and stuff like that, and like it all comes
- 39:42Speaker 1: from like the shape of the mouth, but he's insane.
- 39:44Speaker 1: He also would talk about with with comedy. He would
- 39:47Speaker 1: say he doesn't watch any other comedians because he doesn't
- 39:51Speaker 1: want to be influenced at all by anybody. He doesn't
- 39:53Speaker 1: like study comedy. He doesn't study other people's or watch
- 39:57Speaker 1: other people's act because he doesn't want to like dribble
- 39:59Speaker 1: into his perspective.
- 40:00Speaker 5: Let me ask you this because like one of the
- 40:03Speaker 5: pre what's it called the warm up comedy comedy, he
- 40:07Speaker 5: didn't even get me to crack. I really don't want
- 40:14Speaker 5: to laugh like jolly John Gruden after everything he says.
- 40:19Speaker 5: But if you ever had a time where you bought
- 40:21Speaker 5: up there really like oh god, yeah, yeah it's off.
- 40:24Speaker 5: I thought this would come off.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Yeah yeah.
- 40:26Speaker 7: I mean, you have jokes that you do that work
- 40:28Speaker 7: and that they consistent because you redo a lot of
- 40:31Speaker 7: the same jokes, like we're continuously like building them up.
- 40:34Speaker 7: And you have jokes that like you'll do for like
- 40:36Speaker 7: a year straight and every time you do it it
- 40:38Speaker 7: crushes and then out of nowhere that jokes doesn't work
- 40:41Speaker 7: anymore and you're like, I don't know what what happens.
- 40:43Speaker 7: It's usually you're doing it too much, too robotic.
- 40:47Speaker 5: You know, like I was coaching for the Eagles. I
- 40:49Speaker 5: was offensive coordinator and we're in pregame warm up. This
- 40:52Speaker 5: is the old Veteran stadium and they had some rough fans.
- 40:55Speaker 5: Oh yeah, it's like we're playing in rams. It's windy
- 40:58Speaker 5: and cold. We're out there, me and Randall Cunningham and
- 41:01Speaker 5: Rodney Pete and Jayfield were warming up and there's some
- 41:04Speaker 5: guy in the stands. He's going, hey Gruden, and then
- 41:07Speaker 5: the voice was loud. You could not help but hear it.
- 41:10Speaker 5: All the players, Hey Grouden, he's over there, Gruden. Finally
- 41:16Speaker 5: I turn around, you suck, and all the players are laughing,
- 41:20Speaker 5: you know what I mean. And then two weeks later
- 41:22Speaker 5: we go out and there's that guy again, Hey Gruden.
- 41:24Speaker 5: So I'm like, Okay, you suck. But anyway, that comedy
- 41:28Speaker 5: guy that night I was I felt like, what hey,
- 41:31Speaker 5: oh yeah, you got it. You do have to have
- 41:37Speaker 5: some mental toughness and so you got Also.
- 41:40Speaker 7: I feel like, just like you're like an athlete, and
- 41:42Speaker 7: you're like like athlete, humors are like that, like you
- 41:45Speaker 7: and your locker room would be the most terrified I
- 41:48Speaker 7: could possibly be to perform. Just a bunch of guys
- 41:51Speaker 7: who are like they're all funny in their own way,
- 41:54Speaker 7: and then you bring your pre written jokes and you're like,
- 41:57Speaker 7: I fucking sucked.
- 42:00Speaker 5: That's her way to make a living. Yeah. Yeah.
- 42:02Speaker 4: Is Veterans Stadium where Penn now plays their games.
- 42:07Speaker 5: No, that got torn up. It's destroyed.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Veteran stadiums down Pen Penn is a Franklin field.
- 42:13Speaker 4: Yeah, well they I remember we played Penn in a
- 42:17Speaker 4: football stadiums where the multim that's like in the nineteen fifties,
- 42:21Speaker 4: like Chuck Bednic played there. Okayhumongous.
- 42:25Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, Veteran Stadium. They blew it up.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Yeah, they blew it up. They demolished it. I mean
- 42:30Speaker 1: it was a concrete field with like a carpet thinner
- 42:33Speaker 1: than this one that was just painted like turf, and
- 42:36Speaker 1: they had jail underneath the stadium because the fans were, like,
- 42:39Speaker 1: you said, such assholes.
- 42:41Speaker 5: You talked about going to this going early right as
- 42:44Speaker 5: a coach, Yeah, I'd go in there four o'clock in
- 42:46Speaker 5: the morning. Jeez, and uh, pitch black. You go into
- 42:49Speaker 5: Veterans Stadium. Our offices were underground, yes, where I worked
- 42:53Speaker 5: for three years. So there's a security guy out there
- 42:56Speaker 5: and it's right down on Pattison Broad As four o'clock
- 43:00Speaker 5: in the morning. There's some guys walking around, you know.
- 43:02Speaker 5: Ced So I walk in and I see a cat.
- 43:06Speaker 5: It's got to be as big as sasquatch. Then I
- 43:08Speaker 5: see two or three others walking around Veteran Stadium. So
- 43:11Speaker 5: finally I see the security guy, go, hey, what's with
- 43:14Speaker 5: all these cats? Man? The guys, he goes, the cats
- 43:17Speaker 5: eat the rats. You want rats, your cats?
- 43:24Speaker 1: Everything in Philly, Man, it was it was like a dream,
- 43:28Speaker 1: you know, And that was a wild time for Philly fans.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Like there's like books written about how crazy the Philly
- 43:35Speaker 1: fans were. There was like a story like of like
- 43:38Speaker 1: a really cold day at Veteran Stadium, and this guy
- 43:42Speaker 1: was telling the story, like his wife was there and
- 43:44Speaker 1: like it was like a day where you couldn't feel
- 43:46Speaker 1: your fingers, you couldn't feel your toes. It was just
- 43:49Speaker 1: like a disgusting, awesome football day. But they're up in
- 43:52Speaker 1: the seven hundred level of Veteran Stadium and they said
- 43:55Speaker 1: that at one point they look down and like everything's numb,
- 43:59Speaker 1: you can't feel anything. They looked down, this guy looked
- 44:01Speaker 1: down and his wife's shoe was off the guy in
- 44:04Speaker 1: front of him and taking his wife's shoe off and
- 44:06Speaker 1: was just sucking on her toes in the stadium. I
- 44:09Speaker 1: was like, what what kind of fucking Philly fans?
- 44:12Speaker 6: Like?
- 44:12Speaker 1: What are we even?
- 44:14Speaker 5: Was the last thing I thought you were gonna.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I know, I know sucking on this woman?
- 44:21Speaker 6: Was that like a sexual thing?
- 44:23Speaker 1: Or I have no idea?
- 44:25Speaker 6: Safety is the bone?
- 44:27Speaker 1: Yeah, this warmer up looks a little bit, but it's
- 44:31Speaker 1: just there's just like a million million like insane stories
- 44:35Speaker 1: about like uh, like crazy brawls that happened and bad people.
- 44:41Speaker 1: And you're talking about this guy giving you a hard time,
- 44:43Speaker 1: like telling you you suck. He's there a week after week.
- 44:45Speaker 1: And that's an Eagles fan. That's that's your fan. That's
- 44:48Speaker 1: a guy who's like cheering for your Remember w I
- 44:50Speaker 1: p right, right, of course? Of course it was brutal man.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Yeah there.
- 44:53Speaker 5: You know, if you listen to that, you go home crying.
- 44:55Speaker 5: We lost to the forty nine ers. I think we
- 44:57Speaker 5: got shut out. Yeah in the playoffs, and uh, caller
- 45:01Speaker 5: calls in, he's like John Gruden, John Gruden, if his
- 45:06Speaker 5: IQ was one point less, he'd be a plant. The
- 45:09Speaker 5: guy's a and I'm sitting there listening to this, you know.
- 45:14Speaker 5: But I'll tell you what, man, I'll never forget this.
- 45:16Speaker 5: We go four and oh on the preseason my first year.
- 45:19Speaker 5: We look good man, We're bringing a West Coast offense.
- 45:22Speaker 5: Randall looked great and they call me boy Wonder in
- 45:25Speaker 5: the newspaper. Nice little picture of Johnny g here, Boy
- 45:28Speaker 5: Wonder is here sick. First game we played Tampa Bay.
- 45:32Speaker 5: They come in and kick our ass twenty one to six.
- 45:36Speaker 5: Next day it was boy Blunder. No, I really, I said,
- 45:41Speaker 5: I'm not good enough. I'm I don't belong in this chair.
- 45:44Speaker 5: I shouldn't be calling plays. And I'm walking to the
- 45:46Speaker 5: old bubble, Remember that little bubble they had.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Where we put the practice facility.
- 45:50Speaker 5: There's a white Cadillac and guy rolls his window down.
- 45:54Speaker 5: He goes, hey, Johnny, get in, you know. It was
- 45:57Speaker 5: it was Dick for Meal. That's sick, he called. He
- 46:00Speaker 5: he he drove me over there and he gave me
- 46:01Speaker 5: about a fifteen minute pep talk about how you're going
- 46:05Speaker 5: to be great, everything's going to be just keep doing it,
- 46:08Speaker 5: keep you know.
- 46:08Speaker 6: But he was that was so nice.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Yeah, where was he at the time?
- 46:12Speaker 5: He was he doing college football broadcast.
- 46:15Speaker 1: You know, because that was before he signed or before
- 46:17Speaker 1: he was with the Chiefs, right, Yeah, amazing, it was.
- 46:19Speaker 5: It was really cool. Philadelphia was was a great.
- 46:22Speaker 1: I can't believe you listened to the sports talk radio.
- 46:24Speaker 6: I love it you that did you that throughout like
- 46:27Speaker 6: your whole career, like right out game.
- 46:29Speaker 5: I like to hear what the fans are saying. Yeah,
- 46:30Speaker 5: you know, I like hear what the players are saying
- 46:32Speaker 5: on the radio shows.
- 46:33Speaker 4: Were you hoping for praise or were you hoping that
- 46:38Speaker 4: if there was criticism somehow by hearing it you would
- 46:41Speaker 4: be better prepared for it.
- 46:43Speaker 5: Yeah, just a little bit of everything, just to have
- 46:45Speaker 5: an idea what the what them temperature was? Yeah, yeah,
- 46:49Speaker 5: I like I like knowing what the furnace is, like
- 46:52Speaker 5: howd it is because your players listen to it, you see,
- 46:56Speaker 5: and your coaches listen to it, so you can't be
- 46:59Speaker 5: naive to it. Plus I had quite a commute from
- 47:02Speaker 5: New Jersey over to Philly every morning.
- 47:04Speaker 6: Yeah that's a long one, especially for getting in it
- 47:06Speaker 6: at four am. What are you leaving at midnight?
- 47:09Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 47:10Speaker 1: That is because you don't really think, You almost assume
- 47:13Speaker 1: that the players are not listening when I'm like, as
- 47:17Speaker 1: somebody who's calling into the station, You're not like, hey,
- 47:20Speaker 1: Donovan McNabb's going to hear what I'm saying bitching about him.
- 47:23Speaker 1: You're really just saying it to get it off your chest.
- 47:25Speaker 1: But then you work at someplace like this, it's like
- 47:28Speaker 1: the human condition, Like you're gonna read some comments about yourself.
- 47:31Speaker 1: If people are talking about you, you want to know
- 47:33Speaker 1: what they're saying about you, right, Yeah, it's just being
- 47:36Speaker 1: a human ethics.
- 47:37Speaker 6: So yeah, I do think it is. It is important
- 47:39Speaker 6: to have an idea. Like I get I get people
- 47:41Speaker 6: that are like, don't read anything, don't listen to anything.
- 47:43Speaker 5: But it's like I agree with you said, like, well,
- 47:46Speaker 5: you know there's an article if you go down and
- 47:48Speaker 5: read what's it called the blogs? Yeah, yeah, everybody's negative.
- 47:53Speaker 6: You know, they're pummeling you on the barstool website.
- 47:55Speaker 7: No, I'm just going to say being an article exactly,
- 47:59Speaker 7: that's as negative as it'll get barstool blog.
- 48:03Speaker 1: But now if you're a coach, like going on Twitter,
- 48:06Speaker 1: we're going on Instagram.
- 48:07Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not smart. But what's the.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Difference between that and listening to the radio.
- 48:11Speaker 5: Oh, you're just driving to work. I just I'd rather
- 48:13Speaker 5: listen to that than almost anything really rock. Yeah. Plus,
- 48:17Speaker 5: you know, you can disguise your voice and call in.
- 48:22Speaker 4: All right, this is a little sasquatchquatch here, This is Tom.
- 48:29Speaker 1: Coach Gruden's great. So sick that you got to coach
- 48:32Speaker 1: with your brother too, That's that's just an amazing life.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Or you coach with your brother and your son.
- 48:39Speaker 5: We had a really cool group, you know. We had McVeigh, Shanahan, uh, Tomlin,
- 48:45Speaker 5: my brother. All these young guys are on my staff
- 48:48Speaker 5: in Tampa, and we had a lot of fun. We
- 48:51Speaker 5: talked a lot of trash and it was competitive.
- 48:53Speaker 1: McVeigh and Shanahan were down there.
- 48:55Speaker 5: They were done there. Yeah, it's crazy, my god. I
- 48:57Speaker 5: had a lot of fun.
- 48:58Speaker 1: So people give all the them credit for like McVeigh concepts,
- 49:02Speaker 1: Lafleur concepts, Shanahan concepts, like it's part of their coaching tree.
- 49:08Speaker 1: They should be kicking up credit to you. No, yeah,
- 49:10Speaker 1: that's part of your coaching tree.
- 49:12Speaker 5: Well, they were there. We had a lot of great
- 49:16Speaker 5: people come through that building, and that's what makes you
- 49:20Speaker 5: want to come back someday and coach again.
- 49:22Speaker 8: You grind all year early mornings, late nights, fantasy drafts,
- 49:26Speaker 8: hustle mode on. But when summer hits, it's time to chill,
- 49:29Speaker 8: and Chevy Silverado makes that possible. We're talking towing the
- 49:32Speaker 8: boat to the lake, off, roading into the woods like
- 49:35Speaker 8: a legend, and still having room for the squad and
- 49:37Speaker 8: all your gear.
- 49:38Speaker 4: Inside.
- 49:39Speaker 8: Silverado was comfy like a recliner, outside built like a linebacker.
- 49:44Speaker 8: Chevy Silverado work hard, chill harder. Football Guy Approved had
- 49:49Speaker 8: to Chevy dot com to check out more about the
- 49:51Speaker 8: Chevy Silverado.
- 49:52Speaker 4: Was it? I was just gonna ask. I mean, you
- 49:54Speaker 4: get a call tomorrow, Hey, coach, we want you to
- 49:57Speaker 4: come be the head coach of the Bengals. Are you
- 50:03Speaker 4: taking that job?
- 50:05Speaker 5: I'd be very you know, it'd be hard not to
- 50:08Speaker 5: take it. You know, I'm not soliciting any jobs here,
- 50:12Speaker 5: but I'm preparing to coach. My problem is I don't
- 50:15Speaker 5: want to just live anywhere anymore. I like living in Tampa.
- 50:19Speaker 5: I like Clearwater Beach. I like working with you guys.
- 50:23Speaker 5: This has really been one of the cooler things I've done.
- 50:26Speaker 5: I didn't even have a Twitter account or a I
- 50:28Speaker 5: didn't know anything about Instagram or nothing, and now you
- 50:33Speaker 5: get a chance to go do some things. Hell, I'm
- 50:35Speaker 5: even playing lacrosse.
- 50:36Speaker 4: Now with Jake.
- 50:37Speaker 5: Shit, I'm playing. I was on the field last Wednesday
- 50:40Speaker 5: with four national champion lacrosse players and the head coach.
- 50:45Speaker 5: They're feed me passes off of a pick and I'm
- 50:48Speaker 5: shooting on gold. I think I pulled like a muscle
- 50:51Speaker 5: back of my butt.
- 50:52Speaker 1: Shit, that's why you're giving a speech to a lacrosse Yeah.
- 50:56Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah that what team was the Tampa the Spartans.
- 51:01Speaker 4: At all club club lacrosse to Division two.
- 51:05Speaker 5: Yeah, they want it all. But you know when you
- 51:07Speaker 5: meet these guys, these are bad asses, man. Yeah, these
- 51:10Speaker 5: are athletic guys. They're physical, they'll knock the shit out
- 51:14Speaker 5: of you, and they are quick and twitchy. Man. And uh,
- 51:18Speaker 5: if I had lacrosse in high school, I would have
- 51:22Speaker 5: played that sport instead of baseball. We didn't have the sport.
- 51:26Speaker 5: You know. I encouraged teams to schools to get a
- 51:31Speaker 5: lacrosse team. Yeah, and let your football players play lacrosse
- 51:34Speaker 5: in the spring. Hand eye coordination, just physical training, changing directions.
- 51:42Speaker 5: I mean you got to really stop and start, you
- 51:43Speaker 5: really work on your quickness, your conditioning. All of a
- 51:47Speaker 5: sport man. These guys run all over the place.
- 51:50Speaker 1: It's crazy how Jake is playing on like an Olympic
- 51:52Speaker 1: level team. Do you ever think that, like if you had,
- 51:56Speaker 1: if it was like you're getting out of college and
- 51:59Speaker 1: you could trace some lineage back to a country that
- 52:02Speaker 1: doesn't have that much of a lacrosse presence, like that,
- 52:04Speaker 1: you you could have you.
- 52:06Speaker 4: Know, they didn't have lacrosse in the Olympics when I
- 52:10Speaker 4: was in college, and they do do have the World Games,
- 52:15Speaker 4: and I remember guys would go play for Italy and
- 52:19Speaker 4: Wales and Israel and they would have no legitimate kind
- 52:25Speaker 4: of claim to go do that. It was just kind
- 52:27Speaker 4: of a joke. But I always thought that the helmets
- 52:30Speaker 4: and the jerseys were really cool and it would have
- 52:33Speaker 4: been fun to have done.
- 52:34Speaker 1: But where would you have played?
- 52:35Speaker 4: What? What? Well? I wouldn't have been good enough to
- 52:39Speaker 4: play for the American team because that was actually the
- 52:42Speaker 4: best players, So I would have tried to play for
- 52:44Speaker 4: probably England sick. Yeah would have been cool.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, lacrosse is a is a
- 52:54Speaker 1: great one.
- 52:55Speaker 4: What is Jake doing.
- 52:56Speaker 6: He's played for the Czech team.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Right, He's like goalie for their chech Olympic team.
- 53:00Speaker 7: Oh wow, it was like but I think it was
- 53:03Speaker 7: like some weird thing where it was like it was
- 53:04Speaker 7: only he was only doing it. If this young kid
- 53:07Speaker 7: didn't right something like that.
- 53:09Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, whoa, So they have an age cap.
- 53:17Speaker 1: I just players players color.
- 53:21Speaker 4: I see so. Uh wait wait did he play goalie
- 53:27Speaker 4: in college? Yeah?
- 53:28Speaker 6: I think so.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Club he went to the u v A right, guy, Well.
- 53:35Speaker 4: They have a very good Division one team.
- 53:37Speaker 6: He didn't play on that team.
- 53:39Speaker 4: I thought he did he did? Yeah yeah the varsity team.
- 53:44Speaker 4: Yeah wow, amazing.
- 53:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:49Speaker 6: I can't imagine he's in the Olympics but couldn't make
- 53:51Speaker 6: the varsity team.
- 53:52Speaker 1: That's so sick.
- 53:53Speaker 5: I might He asked me to coach to check out.
- 53:55Speaker 5: You should the games are in Tokyo, but I told
- 53:59Speaker 5: I don't know how about that flight. I can't do
- 54:02Speaker 5: the flight.
- 54:03Speaker 4: I'm going for four days in September to Tokyo. Yeah.
- 54:07Speaker 1: When you had your preseason game in Japan, did you
- 54:10Speaker 1: like spend any time? Did you do any Japanese?
- 54:12Speaker 4: Shit? Yeah?
- 54:13Speaker 5: I took my coaches out to the steakhouse. We had
- 54:16Speaker 5: this high roller guy. He was my assistant. My agent
- 54:19Speaker 5: found him. He was one of the casino hosts in Reno,
- 54:22Speaker 5: Nevadi goes, you got to hire this guy. So I
- 54:25Speaker 5: hire him. I said, hey, Ray, get me a reservation.
- 54:28Speaker 5: I like to take my coaches out to dinner. We
- 54:31Speaker 5: go into this steakhouse man, and there are the biggest
- 54:34Speaker 5: fish tanks I've ever seen there, his girls swimming in them.
- 54:38Speaker 5: Fuck the steak, the lobster, every drink. It was like
- 54:45Speaker 5: fourteen thousand dollars. This is like two thousand and three.
- 54:49Speaker 5: I spent fourteen thousand dollars on this meal. I remember
- 54:53Speaker 5: my offensive line coach, Bill Muir. The waitress comes by,
- 54:56Speaker 5: would you like another lob He goes, I'll have another
- 54:58Speaker 5: lob So I said that, Hell, no more food for
- 55:01Speaker 5: these guys.
- 55:02Speaker 1: No more.
- 55:02Speaker 5: I look at the Bill. I go, goddamn it, Ray,
- 55:05Speaker 5: I'm gonna kill you.
- 55:06Speaker 1: They've probably never seen people eat like an offense, like
- 55:10Speaker 1: like the coaching staff of an NFL team.
- 55:13Speaker 6: I mean, ordering a second lopster. It's crazy.
- 55:17Speaker 5: No, I think these guys are taking advantage of the situation. Yeah, yeah,
- 55:20Speaker 5: But the greatest thing about Tokyo I could not believe
- 55:24Speaker 5: how clean it was, and there's no you know, how
- 55:27Speaker 5: we have all these billboards. Oh yeah, in America, like
- 55:30Speaker 5: big signs like see this lawyer. If you fall off
- 55:33Speaker 5: a chair, see this lawyer. If he hits on the ground,
- 55:37Speaker 5: see this lawyer. There are none of that. Yeah, no, nothing,
- 55:41Speaker 5: But it's just it's incredible.
- 55:43Speaker 1: It's orderly too, Like nobody is crossing the road when
- 55:46Speaker 1: it's not the walk sign. If you're going up and escalator,
- 55:50Speaker 1: everybody's single file on the right hand line. No one's
- 55:53Speaker 1: telling people that they have to follow the rules. They
- 55:55Speaker 1: just naturally. The society promotes following the rules, which is interesting.
- 56:00Speaker 5: Yeah. The problem is when you get into these lay
- 56:03Speaker 5: flat beds, our coaches, a team doctor would give you
- 56:07Speaker 5: an ambient, ambient ambient and these guys go out and
- 56:11Speaker 5: they are snoring and they are really sleep and I
- 56:15Speaker 5: take the ambient and I'm like listening to you, and
- 56:19Speaker 5: I'm listening to the stewardess talking and I'm like, I
- 56:24Speaker 5: can't sleep.
- 56:25Speaker 4: Coach, you gotta get some noise canceling headphones.
- 56:29Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a good thing.
- 56:30Speaker 4: And what I do is I do the AirPods. I
- 56:33Speaker 4: put white noise in playing on my AirPods, and then
- 56:37Speaker 4: I do the over ear noise canceling headphones over the AirPods.
- 56:42Speaker 4: I got layers to the ship. Oh yeah, I got.
- 56:48Speaker 4: I can't hear a thing that.
- 56:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so nice.
- 56:52Speaker 5: I'd be working for the Raiders and Al Davis would
- 56:55Speaker 5: be sitting in the front left. I'm in row two
- 56:58Speaker 5: to the right, and I can hear everything he's saying.
- 57:02Speaker 5: So we lose to the Chiefs. Derek Thomas just destroys us,
- 57:07Speaker 5: and I can hear him going. Is the guy a
- 57:10Speaker 5: fucking idiot? Why did we hire the guy? I'm sitting
- 57:15Speaker 5: right here, you know, should I just jump out the playing?
- 57:20Speaker 4: I want to? You know, God, you know there's a
- 57:24Speaker 4: movie coming about out about Al Davis. Yeah, Shane's in it.
- 57:28Speaker 5: Oh yeah, that one.
- 57:29Speaker 1: Uh yeah, it's about John Madden too, right.
- 57:32Speaker 4: It's about John Madden. Excuse me, Yeah, I think Al
- 57:35Speaker 4: Davis is in it.
- 57:37Speaker 6: Shane played John Madden.
- 57:39Speaker 4: He plays his friend. But I think, actually, I don't
- 57:43Speaker 4: want to fucking I don't.
- 57:45Speaker 6: I mean, I'm I'm only going off of the photos.
- 57:47Speaker 4: Yeah that are very public.
- 57:48Speaker 1: Yeah, so you might have an actor playing you in
- 57:50Speaker 1: this movie or something like that. I doubt it.
- 57:53Speaker 5: You know, him pretty cool though. When I first got
- 57:55Speaker 5: the Raider job, I think I was thirty four years old,
- 57:59Speaker 5: and we go play the Dallas Cowboys in our first
- 58:02Speaker 5: preseason game and Al Davis would fly all the alumni,
- 58:06Speaker 5: the real alumni with us. So I'm on the sideline
- 58:10Speaker 5: and on there is Jack Tatum, you know, Ted Hendricks,
- 58:14Speaker 5: Cliff Branch, all these great Raider players, Snake, Kenny Stabler,
- 58:21Speaker 5: Fred Blittnikoff, Willie Brown were on my staff sick, you know.
- 58:25Speaker 5: So it was cool. And then you know, we'd go
- 58:27Speaker 5: to practice and training camp and John Madden would show up.
- 58:30Speaker 5: You know, I'm sitting there looking up there like, holy shit,
- 58:34Speaker 5: I wonder what he thinks I'm doing that.
- 58:36Speaker 1: Frank Caliendo must have been licking his chop seeing both
- 58:39Speaker 1: of you and Madden out there. He's like, those are
- 58:41Speaker 1: my muses.
- 58:42Speaker 5: We went to Italy about four years ago, my wife
- 58:45Speaker 5: and I with a couple and we were over in
- 58:48Speaker 5: Italy looking at the coliseum and seeing the ruins, and
- 58:52Speaker 5: out of nowhere, I get a call from Frank. He's
- 58:54Speaker 5: in Italy. He's in the exact place we are. So
- 58:58Speaker 5: we had dinner together in Rome. That's it's a weird deal. Yeah,
- 59:03Speaker 5: but that's so scared to show you guys got man.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a fun time. Dude, Thank you for coming on.
- 59:07Speaker 1: I think this has been an absolute pleasure.
- 59:09Speaker 6: I was gonna say one more thing.
- 59:11Speaker 4: Do you know?
- 59:11Speaker 6: Do you know Jake used to be one of the
- 59:13Speaker 6: producers on this show, so I heard, Yeah, what did
- 59:15Speaker 6: he produce? He didn't do much. Jake's the best takes
- 59:21Speaker 6: a guy.
- 59:22Speaker 1: If you get hired on it, if you get hired
- 59:24Speaker 1: to uh like a new coaching job. But I know
- 59:27Speaker 1: that's not what you're chasing. Is Jake coming with you?
- 59:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Jake's gonna be in the what kind of position?
- 59:33Speaker 4: Like?
- 59:33Speaker 1: Is Jake like quality control?
- 59:35Speaker 4: Like?
- 59:35Speaker 1: Is he uh you know, personal assistant?
- 59:38Speaker 5: Is he has a photographic memory? The guy is really sharp.
- 59:41Speaker 4: Yeah he is.
- 59:42Speaker 5: That's why we're here for trivia. He's good at it.
- 59:44Speaker 5: I mean he's he's got a worldliness about him. He
- 59:47Speaker 5: can relate to, you know, TV shows, he can relate
- 59:51Speaker 5: to a lot of different things. I'm amazed at his
- 59:54Speaker 5: uh vast And then we put in place during quarterback
- 59:59Speaker 5: school with these quarterback He's going, Hey, that's snug right,
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: shorty eighty two cowboy, isn't it? He remembered I got
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: tank But I love people that are sharp.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: So he's coming. So Jake's coming when you when you
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: get a job. Who anybody else from barstool coming.
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: That's why I'm here. I'm scouting it out a little bit.
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: I'll probably take Sasquat.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Jay Stephen Jay, I'm sure wants to get that scout
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: of the apartment.
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: You know, he loves it.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: You'd be great at Hey, Hey, let me get a
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: let me get my just wet my beak a little bit.
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: You know, Mike Combrin in Green Bay when he hired
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: all of us. This is nineteen ninety two, the year
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: we got Brett Faarv. Yeah, he hired Andy Reid, Mary
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: Ucci me. We were all young guys and they're all
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: coming out of college, you know, just getting our careers started.
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: And he knew we would work hard. He knew we
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: were loyal, we could learn what he wanted us to teach.
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: That's that's kind of the the makeup of today's coaches.
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: You know a lot of these guys are getting younger
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: and younger and younger every year. Man, so hey, just
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: keep working hard, Sasquatch. It might be the next head
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: coach of the Falcon.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Thank you so much. That was such a blast. Appreciate it.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: And yeah, just I know it's something different, but you
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: crushed it. That was awesome.
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: Yeah, thank you guys. Man, you guys enjoy I gotta
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: work on my golf game. Man, that's so funny.
