- 0:00Speaker 1: Do you want to have five? It is the Erica Show, y'all.
- 0:02Speaker 1: This show is so amazing. I remember when the founders
- 0:04Speaker 1: came through years ago, the Naked Magicians, which is Aussy's
- 0:08Speaker 1: smash hit direct from Vegas. But it's also the naughtiest
- 0:10Speaker 1: and funniest show on earth. And it's coming to DPAK
- 0:13Speaker 1: going to be here April fourteenth, so just next week
- 0:15Speaker 1: and grab those tickets now dpakanc dot com. I've been
- 0:18Speaker 1: given away Girls' night out tickets, which the fellows have
- 0:21Speaker 1: also been trying to win.
- 0:21Speaker 3: The tickets.
- 0:22Speaker 1: You don't have them yet, go grab them dpakanc dot com.
- 0:25Speaker 1: But we've got Anton and jack On and y'all are
- 0:28Speaker 1: our Naked Magicians coming to DEPAC.
- 0:30Speaker 3: We're so excited.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Oh it's so excited too, very very excited to go
- 0:34Speaker 2: back North Carolina the first time in Durham. We are
- 0:37Speaker 2: stoked to be there.
- 0:38Speaker 3: How many cities is the tour on?
- 0:40Speaker 2: So over two hundred and fifty cities is where the
- 0:42Speaker 2: show has played. So this tour specifically is the US
- 0:47Speaker 2: twenty sixth tour. So we started just last month or
- 0:50Speaker 2: two months ago. Now in February, we've hit about forty
- 0:54Speaker 2: shows forty cities so far, and that'll be the entire tour. Okay,
- 1:00Speaker 2: two fifty dollars in global where it's bean life. You know,
- 1:03Speaker 2: it's been everywhere, ves, it's been everywhere. It really acts.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Do you get a chance to explore the cities when
- 1:08Speaker 1: you're visiting or you kind of you do the show
- 1:10Speaker 1: and you're in and out.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Oh, we always make sure to take some time to
- 1:13Speaker 2: get to know the city a little bit, get to
- 1:15Speaker 2: know the amazing people there, especially if we have time
- 1:18Speaker 2: before the show. You'll find us strolling around. I'm often
- 1:21Speaker 2: wearing the Naked Magician's t shirt and people will stop
- 1:24Speaker 2: us in the street and say, I'm coming to the
- 1:25Speaker 2: show tonight.
- 1:26Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 1:27Speaker 2: So there's always a great time whenever we're strolling around.
- 1:31Speaker 2: And then after the show too, of course, we like
- 1:33Speaker 2: to check out the local nightlife, so we're very excited
- 1:35Speaker 2: to see what Durham has in store for us.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Okay, so I give this question a lot because I
- 1:39Speaker 1: have seen the show. It's really fantastic. But how naked
- 1:42Speaker 1: do you get? That's literally they're like, wait, they're naked.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I'm like, yes, they're naked. So how naked do you get?
- 1:48Speaker 2: No, we get that question a lot too. So, like
- 1:50Speaker 2: obviously the show is called The Naked Magicians. Being naked
- 1:54Speaker 2: is a big part of this show. But like anything,
- 1:57Speaker 2: you know, we kind of don't We don't like to
- 1:59Speaker 2: start not so bold right away because we have a
- 2:01Speaker 2: lot of people who come see this right now. Everyone
- 2:03Speaker 2: is coming to see the nakedness solely. Some people do
- 2:07Speaker 2: want to come see the magic, some people want to
- 2:10Speaker 2: see the comedy of it. So we kind of start off.
- 2:12Speaker 2: We start up fully closed and I'm sure people have
- 2:15Speaker 2: being looked us up online. They'll see if you know,
- 2:17Speaker 2: and we have shoots on and then part of the routine,
- 2:21Speaker 2: you know, as we get from one trick to the next,
- 2:23Speaker 2: is we do start stripping off clothes and there's like
- 2:26Speaker 2: kind of competitions within the show of like if this
- 2:29Speaker 2: happens and I take off this, if this happens and
- 2:31Speaker 2: Antoun takes off this. So it is kind of a
- 2:34Speaker 2: fun game to play every night. It is a little different,
- 2:37Speaker 2: and you know, especially the guests and who we have
- 2:39Speaker 2: up at stage, they kind of help us, you know,
- 2:42Speaker 2: with the nakedness out just the disclaimer too. Any guest
- 2:45Speaker 2: who comes up on stage or us remain closed. We
- 2:48Speaker 2: are the only people. We do get that a lot too.
- 2:50Speaker 2: It's like I show up on stage, do I have
- 2:53Speaker 2: to get naked too? It's like, no, We're the only
- 2:55Speaker 2: one doing it. And it's a lot of fun in
- 2:57Speaker 2: the audience. Is they certainly a reaction to it. I
- 3:01Speaker 2: believe it's like a big first day. You know, it
- 3:02Speaker 2: tots off very classy. Yeah, there's two gentlemen wearing our suits,
- 3:07Speaker 2: and then over time it gets a little naughtier and
- 3:09Speaker 2: then maybe one thing comes off and maybe another. Oh
- 3:12Speaker 2: and by the end of the show, Erica, it's a
- 3:15Speaker 2: totally different story.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Okay, so the.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Hat, the top hat, has that ever fallen? And do
- 3:20Speaker 1: you get nervous about that falling?
- 3:22Speaker 2: Oh? It's all jack there. Yeah, yeah, so the top hat.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Really I had a great streak. I've been doing the
- 3:29Speaker 2: show since December of last year, and you know, I
- 3:33Speaker 2: haven't had it happened to be once and then we
- 3:36Speaker 2: were in a certain city and I'll leave the city
- 3:38Speaker 2: off the map right now. But they the woman dropped
- 3:42Speaker 2: the hat for the first time in that specific performance.
- 3:45Speaker 2: She didn't jop with just once, but she dropped it
- 3:48Speaker 2: four separate times the same night. So it's like it's
- 3:53Speaker 2: not a part of the show, but it is. It's
- 3:56Speaker 2: kind of one of this it is magic. You are
- 3:58Speaker 2: trusting someone you know, kind of hold the hat and
- 4:01Speaker 2: sometimes it does drop and listen. We don't get nervous really,
- 4:04Speaker 2: it's more if the audience is having fun. They usually
- 4:07Speaker 2: love that reaction anyway, so they kind of want it
- 4:10Speaker 2: to happen. Yeah, of course we did that. Of course, right,
- 4:13Speaker 2: that's what people come and see it for. But you know,
- 4:15Speaker 2: for us, it's more about as long as we're making
- 4:17Speaker 2: sure that the show quality, integrity of the show, you know,
- 4:20Speaker 2: it's still intact. That's that's the most important thing to us.
- 4:23Speaker 2: And if it drops, it's part of the part of
- 4:26Speaker 2: the comedy. It's part of the Yeah, that's one of
- 4:28Speaker 2: the coolest things about the show. We get different volunteers
- 4:31Speaker 2: up on stage every night, so we never know what's
- 4:34Speaker 2: going to happen, and we've had some wild events take
- 4:39Speaker 2: place on that stage when we get the right person
- 4:42Speaker 2: up there, and we're hoping, we're hoping we get some
- 4:45Speaker 2: of those folks in Durham.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Oh, you definitely will drum's wild. I love it.
- 4:48Speaker 1: That's where I'm from originally now, how often do women
- 4:51Speaker 1: in particular, and I'm sure guys to slide into your
- 4:54Speaker 1: dms and flirt with y'all.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Oh man, you know a lot, a lot, I would say,
- 5:01Speaker 2: But also too, I mean it's it's fair because we're
- 5:03Speaker 2: flirting with them throughout the show too. I mean, that
- 5:05Speaker 2: is what the show is about. We're on stage, we're
- 5:08Speaker 2: getting naked. We have this flirtacious energy that we're giving
- 5:11Speaker 2: to the audience, especially you know in certain cities, uh,
- 5:13Speaker 2: you know, with super Pool about Dirham. We're so excited
- 5:16Speaker 2: that Charlotte was one of our craziest shows with an
- 5:19Speaker 2: audience you know, North Carolina, North Carolinians. And then the
- 5:23Speaker 2: show Your Wild we love it, and like you know,
- 5:27Speaker 2: I do remember in Charlotte, it's like that theater specifically,
- 5:30Speaker 2: we really were able to see, you know, the audience
- 5:34Speaker 2: lit pretty well, so it's like we're looking into the
- 5:36Speaker 2: eyes of the audience numbers. We're telling these jokes and
- 5:39Speaker 2: we're having fun, we're stripping. It's it's all part of
- 5:41Speaker 2: the fun. So it's like, yes, we we do get
- 5:43Speaker 2: a decent amount of flirtatious invice, but we're also again
- 5:48Speaker 2: we're we're on the road so much too, and you
- 5:50Speaker 2: know right away we're usually packing up back of the
- 5:52Speaker 2: show and hopefully sometimes we get to a bar after,
- 5:55Speaker 2: but you know, we're only a Durham for I think
- 5:57Speaker 2: for one night. Yeah, we're in and out and then
- 5:59Speaker 2: we league, so it is. It is business at the
- 6:03Speaker 2: end of the day. But don't hear you're wrong. We
- 6:05Speaker 2: love it and we love the attention, and it's it's
- 6:08Speaker 2: very fun and everyone's been super fun and respectful and of.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Course you are super talented magicians like people. Yes, yes
- 6:15Speaker 1: you're naked, but the tricks that you do so many
- 6:18Speaker 1: times I've watched the show where I'm like, wait, how
- 6:21Speaker 1: do they do that? Do you have people coming up
- 6:22Speaker 1: asking how is that trick done?
- 6:25Speaker 2: Yes? Well, great thing about our show that it's magic,
- 6:28Speaker 2: it's comedy and it's also nudity. So sometimes people get
- 6:31Speaker 2: caught up on the magic tricks, but sometimes they get
- 6:35Speaker 2: caught up on the other parts of it. So if
- 6:38Speaker 2: you ever spend too long thinking about how the magic
- 6:40Speaker 2: trick is done, you look away for a second and
- 6:44Speaker 2: then Jack loses his pan and then you're not thinking
- 6:46Speaker 2: about that magic trick anymore. Right, Yeah, you're thinking about
- 6:49Speaker 2: different type of magic, there's another trying to figure out
- 6:51Speaker 2: that's usually where it goes to. And and yeah, we
- 6:54Speaker 2: do have it. You know the magic you got trained
- 6:57Speaker 2: for this show, and it is It is a nervous
- 7:00Speaker 2: part of the show, right because making sure the magic
- 7:02Speaker 2: goes right, but we do. What is so fun about
- 7:05Speaker 2: the show, Like, let's just say a magic trick goes wrong,
- 7:07Speaker 2: which really we haven't had that happen yet, but if
- 7:10Speaker 2: it does, it's it is part of the comedy. It
- 7:12Speaker 2: is part of the improv of the show. It's live entertainment.
- 7:15Speaker 2: And I love so much about the show is that
- 7:18Speaker 2: you don't shy away from moments that go wrong, right
- 7:20Speaker 2: you just own it. You accept it. This is happening
- 7:23Speaker 2: right now, and you just kind of play it off
- 7:25Speaker 2: as the strength. And I think that's an audience really
- 7:27Speaker 2: what audience one just loves so much about this show.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Typically it's just so raw, it's honest. There's nothing where
- 7:33Speaker 2: we literally aren't hiding anything in this show. We are
- 7:35Speaker 2: showing everything. This is who we are. There are some
- 7:39Speaker 2: magic tricks to it, but like that's the only part
- 7:42Speaker 2: that's kind of covered in this show. Everything else is
- 7:44Speaker 2: very very clearly in the open for Durham's gonna get
- 7:48Speaker 2: a They're gonna get it, They're gonna see it.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Well, you know a lot of us girls like it
- 7:52Speaker 1: when we're like we here, we're gonna get it anyway.
- 7:54Speaker 1: But okay, So, how do you feel like if your
- 7:58Speaker 1: parents or your civil or a family and friends or
- 8:01Speaker 1: to come to the show, does that make you nervous?
- 8:03Speaker 2: Yeah, We've had lots of friends come to the show
- 8:05Speaker 2: and they've all loved it, even ough even our guy
- 8:08Speaker 2: friends are college friends. They come in and they love it.
- 8:11Speaker 2: As for parents, though, well, my mom thinks that I'm
- 8:14Speaker 2: still in my thirty year of medical school right now. Okay, Yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 2: she's listening. Yeah, and she's listening surprise. Yeah she I
- 8:23Speaker 2: don't know if she's living. I don't think she's listening
- 8:26Speaker 2: to the drum radio right now. Hopefully she's not.
- 8:28Speaker 1: We're worldwide, though, she can listen anywhere. I'm gonta send
- 8:31Speaker 1: it to your mom.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Y, Yeah, tell it to his moob. He should know that.
- 8:35Speaker 2: My mom, on the other hand, you know, she she
- 8:38Speaker 2: has been very She's supportive of the entertainment. All my
- 8:41Speaker 2: friends really, they're supportive. This gig is so fun, you know,
- 8:45Speaker 2: it is it is a wild, wild gig compared to
- 8:48Speaker 2: what I kind of grew up in the musical theater world.
- 8:50Speaker 2: So it's like I was going from doing you know,
- 8:53Speaker 2: lay mid to making magicians. So it was definitely kind
- 8:56Speaker 2: of a jump of the stylish show that I was doing.
- 8:59Speaker 2: But they understand and I get this. I've done to
- 9:01Speaker 2: see so many of my friends on this tour, just
- 9:03Speaker 2: who are in random cities that were close by, and
- 9:07Speaker 2: they get to see me perform and have fun and
- 9:09Speaker 2: they get to be in that environment, Like I have
- 9:11Speaker 2: three of my baseball buddies from college to come see it,
- 9:15Speaker 2: and they were saying they were like, even if you
- 9:17Speaker 2: weren't in the show, we would love we were. Just
- 9:19Speaker 2: it was hilarious. And that's that's what I think. People
- 9:22Speaker 2: the expectations of what they have seeing the show, they're
- 9:26Speaker 2: kind of never on the nose. They expect one thing,
- 9:29Speaker 2: and when they see the show, it is a little
- 9:31Speaker 2: bit different and we're unique in that way, which.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Is very fun, which lean into this question like when
- 9:37Speaker 1: did you find out like there's an audition opportunity for
- 9:39Speaker 1: the naked magicians because you saying you were doing other
- 9:42Speaker 1: musical things before, so what.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Led you to this role.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. So actually my older brother he's also an
- 9:47Speaker 2: actor and he also is a casting director too. He
- 9:50Speaker 2: lived out in La so he sees a lot of
- 9:52Speaker 2: auditions in a given day and he saw this one
- 9:55Speaker 2: and he said it to me. It was on an
- 9:57Speaker 2: Actor's Access, which is pretty much you know, LinkedIn in
- 10:00Speaker 2: the actors world, entertainment world, and he saw it. He
- 10:03Speaker 2: sent it to me and as a joke, he was like, Jack,
- 10:06Speaker 2: you're going on tour. That was literally a text he
- 10:08Speaker 2: set me because like the breakdown was twenty to forty
- 10:11Speaker 2: years old, in shape, you know, like has comedy and
- 10:15Speaker 2: stage presence, you know, a lot of experience. And so
- 10:18Speaker 2: I sent it. Within five minutes of me sending my
- 10:21Speaker 2: initial kind of submission, I got an email back from
- 10:23Speaker 2: the writer and you know it's Australian dud Chris who
- 10:26Speaker 2: you saw. I was like, good day night, like, well
- 10:28Speaker 2: you love kind of willing to come to Boston for
- 10:31Speaker 2: the show, and within I mean, in the entertainment world,
- 10:34Speaker 2: it was crazy. It never happens back quickly. You got
- 10:36Speaker 2: to wait a while before you hear something. And within
- 10:39Speaker 2: three weeks to be submitting, I moved to Boston. I
- 10:42Speaker 2: quit my job. I was living in Chicago, and I
- 10:45Speaker 2: kind of fully committed to this show, and i've been
- 10:49Speaker 2: I haven't looked back then.
- 10:50Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I was in Boston, exciting. I was in Boston originally
- 10:54Speaker 2: when the show came up to Boston and they were
- 10:57Speaker 2: looking for new performers. And it's just when one application
- 11:00Speaker 2: all you send out on a whim, you think this
- 11:03Speaker 2: might be interesting, and then one conversation turns into another
- 11:06Speaker 2: and then here we are at the Deepak. I love
- 11:10Speaker 2: that it happens sometimes.
- 11:11Speaker 3: All right, last question before I let yo go. I
- 11:13Speaker 3: know you're busy. Do you ever get to pick out?
- 11:15Speaker 1: Because of course you have to be in shape, look
- 11:17Speaker 1: amazing on stage, But do you ever pick out and
- 11:19Speaker 1: just get off course?
- 11:20Speaker 2: Here we try some of the local delicacies. So we're
- 11:24Speaker 2: in Chicago right now, we're making sure we try just
- 11:27Speaker 2: a little bit of the deep Dish pizza. Is there
- 11:30Speaker 2: anything we should be looking out for in Durham, any
- 11:32Speaker 2: local delicacies?
- 11:33Speaker 1: I mean, Durham is considered the foody spot of the South,
- 11:36Speaker 1: so there's a lot of great restaurants right located around
- 11:39Speaker 1: the Deepak area. I mean, barbecue is obviously a Southern
- 11:42Speaker 1: thing if that was, if you're interested in trying.
- 11:44Speaker 2: But there's a lot of.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Good spots across, Like there's a steakhouse right by you
- 11:47Speaker 1: that's really great.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Yeah, then I will feel like, well we'll be trying
- 11:50Speaker 2: a little Durham barbecue for sure.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Absolutely Well, depakc dot com, grab your tickets.
- 11:55Speaker 3: I'll see out the show. Fingers cross.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I get pulled up on stage with all because you know,
- 11:58Speaker 1: I'm all about being a volunteer.
- 12:00Speaker 2: So yeah, okay, we can make that happen. Okay, make
- 12:03Speaker 2: that happen.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Thank you so much, Thank you so much.
- 12:07Speaker 2: We're so excited to be there.
