MURDERED: Elizabeth "Black Dahlia" Short
On January 15, 1947, the bisected and drained body of Elizabeth Short was discovered in a vacant lot in Leimert Park, Los Angeles, in one of the most forensically unusual homicides in American history. The killer mailed Short's belongings to a newspaper, more than 500 suspects were investigated across seven decades, and no one was ever charged. The primary crime scene has never been found, and whether surviving biological evidence could support modern DNA analysis remains publicly unconfirmed.
