- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Coming up on HKB Uncut.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: What are a few procedures we wish Chatians would not ask for?
- 0:06SPEAKER_02: There are a couple that I can tell you off the bat that we Bill and I would agree on.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Do you know who Jim Carrey is?
- 0:11SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 0:12SPEAKER_03: Big Jim Carrey fan.
- 0:13SPEAKER_03: I think he's funny, um, great guy.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Have you seen how he looks now?
- 0:17SPEAKER_03: You know, he's definitely had some work done.
- 0:18SPEAKER_03: I hope he's happy.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: This picture looks a little feminized compared to the one when he was younger.
- 0:23SPEAKER_02: He had more of an angular, boxy face.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Would you guys consider plastic surgery for yourselves?
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, for sure.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: I've already had it, so yeah.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: Me too.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: It's not a one-size-fits-all treatment algorithm for both men and women.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: And to your point, if you do too much of the things you're gonna do for a woman on a man, it's gonna feminize them.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: To start off, do you know who Jim Carrey is?
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Have you seen how he looks now?
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: I haven't.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: I saw some, but uh I need a refresher.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: I would show you how he looked in 2022.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: 2006 and 2026 now.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: Oh Jimmy.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: Oh, interesting.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: So a lot of people are saying that he has a facelift or something going on.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: What is your opinion?
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Does he have plastic surgery done?
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Is he just aging or a little bit of both?
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: You know, I think that Jim Carrey is looking alright.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: He's definitely um progressing through life like all of us.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: It's hard when I look at this stuff and I make judgment on people, it's kind of like, eh, you know, they could have had this, they may have had this, and then you don't know what has been changed on this image.
- 1:40SPEAKER_02: You know, there's no doubt in some ways he has less wrinkles and and ridids, you know, of his lower face and mid face.
- 1:47SPEAKER_02: So indicating maybe he's had a facelift.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: His cheek mass is higher, looks like it's more full.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: Could have been some filler or fat grafting and or facelift as well.
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: Looks like his forehead, you know, the hairline's receded a little bit as you would expect.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: You know, I think that you know, it looks a little bit, he looks a little bit slightly.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: This picture looks a little feminized compared to the one when he was younger.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: He had more of an angular, boxy face.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: So like something tells me this has been synthesized a little bit.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: Take a look.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: Oh god.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: My go-go gadget arms and date myself.
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: Alrighty then.
- 2:26SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's a good Jim Carrey.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: That was not very good, G, but uh that's okay.
- 2:34SPEAKER_03: You know, here's here's the the I never really like to comment too much on on I thought you were gonna say I never like Jim Carrey.
- 2:41SPEAKER_03: I was like, oh, I actually love Jim Carrey.
- 2:43SPEAKER_03: You don't know taste.
- 2:44SPEAKER_03: Uh big Jim Carrey fan.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: I think he's funny.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: Um, great guy.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: His graduation speech was pretty amazing.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: I did like that a lot.
- 2:52SPEAKER_03: Um you know, he's definitely had some work done.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: Um hope he's happy.
- 2:56SPEAKER_03: That's first and foremost.
- 2:58SPEAKER_03: He's you know, he's had his eyelids done, you can say that in some backcrafting, most likely a uh a facelift.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: Does he look more youthful?
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, aging is better, but this is the problem when you have plastic surgery, it changes you.
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: You're gonna look different.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: And people are gonna be opinionated.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: You know, he's definitely, you know, uh had some stuff done.
- 3:21SPEAKER_03: Again, to my point, I hope he's really happy with it and he's satisfied.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: Um You know, I think the other thing is when you're that that doesn't mean that that's how it has to be.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: Like that's the thing is like you can have undetectable facial rejuvenation.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: Now, the thing that people need to understand is that your face, everything fundamentally changes in life.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: Your bone mass will reduce, your soft tissue quality will change, you will lose volume, and so some of the things that need to be done are gonna be to tackle those respective things.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: But like for a guy, for example, you want to preserve masculinity, you don't want to have too high cheek mass, you want to still be angular.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: Um, but some of the the fundamental, you know, fixed parts of the face, like the bony constructs, are changing and there can be some resorption, there can be loss of bigonial width and things like this.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: Men men and women age differently.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: And I, you know, it's not a one size fits all treatment algorithm for both men and women.
- 4:19SPEAKER_03: And to your point, if you do too much of the things you're gonna do for a woman on a man, it's gonna feminize them.
- 4:25SPEAKER_03: Um, and again, that may be what they want or what they don't want, but those are things to think about as you kind of move forward.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: Um, and it's one of the questions we always ask is like, how much of a change do you really want?
- 4:37SPEAKER_03: Um, and I think it's really important when talking to patients about expectations is like what is their expectation?
- 4:43SPEAKER_03: Do they want to be enhanced?
- 4:45SPEAKER_03: They want to be the best version of themselves, or do they want to look like a completely different person?
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Hmm.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, another question.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Would you guys consider plastic surgery for yourselves?
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: I've already had it, so yeah, me too.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: You know, I would I'll I'll have expand on that.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: I've had my I had a septor rhinoplasty in the past, and I'll get a facelift when it's time, I'll get my eyelids done, like anything that that's gonna be available, I'll do.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: There's some there's some stuff that I wouldn't do that you know, I have to be cautious about like aggressive resurfacing of my skin because I'm darker skin.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: You know, um, you know, I think I I'd do if I had areas of fat that I didn't want, I would do liposuction.
- 5:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I've had a little liposuction, I've had my teeth done, I've had a hair restration.
- 5:31SPEAKER_03: So that's all things I personally have done.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: Um, I know in my future I'm probably gonna have to have my eyelids done at some point.
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: I'm more of the natural guy.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: Like I want a little bit done, I don't want to be overdone, I don't want to look like somebody different because again, as soon as you have it done, people are like, oh my God, you know, you don't look the same.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: Other stuff too, neuromodulators, um, both of us have had done biostimulators, both of us have had those.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: Um, other things like microneedling, both of us have done that.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: Um, and there's all kinds of other stuff that you can do.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: So and we we lump all that together because like this is the patients don't have to have big wax, big scar stuff to look and feel their best.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: Sometimes it's small, little stuff, and like you can build on that.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: So I think that it's not always just like a huge surgery or you know, a big recovery.
- 6:18SPEAKER_02: Sometimes it's it's small stuff that's built on each other, and then eventually you have to do a little bit more of a deliberate intervention, like like a facelift, for example.
- 6:25SPEAKER_03: Did you ever hear G's line?
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: He doesn't always prescribe, he subscribes to.
- 6:29SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: If you're gonna sub if you're gonna if you're gonna if you're gonna prescribe, you gotta subscribe.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Oh wow, I didn't know you guys had her surgery.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: That's interesting.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Sam has not told me any of this.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: What are a few procedures we wish the patients would not ask for anymore?
- 6:55SPEAKER_02: There are a couple that I can tell you off the bat that we Bill and I would agree on.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: One, cool sculpting.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: That's a that's a waste.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: We wouldn't do it.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: We have the devices, we don't use them.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: What's another one, Bill?
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: Um I think gone are the days of these high volume, you know, Brazilian buttlass.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we don't like that term anyway.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: I think what we like to do is more shaping, yeah, redistribution.
- 7:22SPEAKER_03: I think fat redistribution is great.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: I think fat grafting is a phenomenal procedure, but I think they don't doing these really high volume fat grafting procedures is out.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I've I've seen a lot of videos too where people, experts in our field have they've they've been asked this, and they'll they'll drop like three surgical procedures.
- 7:37SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, really?
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: I don't agree with that at all.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Because like our patients are all crazy different.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: And those procedures are tools that exist for us to utilize to get the best results.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: So like when a patient comes in, they're not a great candidate for this, it's all good.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: You just shift their attention in what they're gonna do and what will work for them.
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: But saying that, you know, wish that people did essentially that these procedures didn't exist is just preposterous.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: Like it's what we do.
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: Like we have to have a way to address issues, tissues, soft tissue deformities, structural skeletal deformity, whatever, from head to toe.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: And like, I mean, we pretty much use every single surgical procedure we know how to do, except for like, you know, big flap transfers and complex wound closures, just because that's not what we're practicing now.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: But like it's part of the deal.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: So I don't understand why you would ever ixnay.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: And that doesn't mean you do buckle fat removal on every single person that comes to you, but I think buckle fat removal works really well for specific patients.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: It doesn't mean you have to take every little drop of buckle fat out.
- 8:36SPEAKER_03: I'll throw one out there.
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: Um, you may disagree with me.
- 8:40SPEAKER_03: Um, but I'm gonna put an asterisk on it because it's gonna be in the US currently.
- 8:45SPEAKER_03: Uh butt augmentation using silicone implants in the butt today, I don't think are great procedures in the US.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: And maybe you won't elaborate.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: Why do you th why is that?
- 8:57SPEAKER_02: It's because it is because of the surgery or is it because of the device?
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: The device.
- 9:00SPEAKER_03: I think the technology we have currently available for us for gluteal augmentation devices is not ideal.
- 9:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:08SPEAKER_03: So what will make it better?
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: I think having a softer, more viscoelastic implant that more mimics the the natural contours of the buttock will be significantly improved.
- 9:19SPEAKER_03: And then I'll retract my statement and I'll say, yeah, let's do it.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: But with the devices we have available today, no go.
- 9:25SPEAKER_02: And this has happened, though.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: It's coming.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: So this is something you know, listeners should know that outside US, this is available.
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: You know, there's a device called the Gem Device from uh one of our industry partners that they have, and there's other implants that are outside that are more viscoelastic, so they don't they're not like a harsh block.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: And we'll be able to do it minimally invasive too, which is gonna be pretty phenomenal.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: What type of music do you guys listen to in the in the orathing, but country.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: I listen to dope ass EDM, uh Persian music, Asian music, Chinese music, 7 AM, Indian music, and uh I try to listen to stuff that everybody doesn't listen to.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: If everybody starts singing, I might change that shit.
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: And and Star Contrast, it's either rap or country, am I?
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: What about do you ever listen to country rap?
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: There are some country rap songs out there.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: Do you know that?
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: I would never listen to that.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: But I'm saying that nothing against you.
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's true.
- 10:24SPEAKER_03: Did y'all know a little known talent that G has?
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: No.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: You can name that tune in one to two beats.
- 10:29SPEAKER_03: It doesn't really matter.
- 10:29SPEAKER_03: We're gonna try that one.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, I can crush it.
- 10:32SPEAKER_03: I'm like, I I usually beat just a little known, unknown talent he has.
- 10:36SPEAKER_02: It's like the one talent I have.
- 10:37SPEAKER_02: I'm a good good plastic surgeon, but pretty good at the music shit.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: Um well to that um notion, do you have do you sing along to the music at all?
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Or are you focused?
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: I'm more of a I would what happened, like this is a song and I'll just put out a random word.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: Like I'll I'll just drop like words about it.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: Or like sounds like the guys made like skirt.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: I know exactly what song he's referring to to.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 11:08SPEAKER_03: No, I don't sing.
- 11:10SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm a terrible singer.
- 11:11SPEAKER_03: I would love to, but no, I'm terrible.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Do you guys ever dream about surgery?
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: You know how like regular people j dream about their jobs?
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: Do you guys ever dream?
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: I uh I don't dream about surgery.
- 11:23SPEAKER_02: No, I don't.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: What about like consultations or paperwork or no?
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: I I dream about I dream about like flying.
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: I dream about I dream about like cascading through like nature and that's insane.
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: Do you remember your the one of the the last time you had a dream?
- 11:42SPEAKER_03: I can't I can't remember.
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: No, but when I dream it's about stuff like that or crazy vivid stuff.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: It's not usually surgery though.
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: No, it's usually totally tangential to like real life for me.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Um how long was the longest surgery you've ever performed?
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: Uh probably had to be in residency.
- 11:59SPEAKER_02: In residency, yeah, for long, like 10, 12 hour surgery, but we're in and out, multiple surgeries.
- 12:04SPEAKER_03: So we we did a lot of kind of free flap reconstructions and and um replants where we'd had to put hands and fingers and arms back on.
- 12:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:12SPEAKER_03: And those were really long surgeries.
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but not in our practice now.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Do you ever see someone in public and recognize your own work?
- 12:22SPEAKER_03: Very frequently.
- 12:23SPEAKER_03: All the all the time.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 12:25SPEAKER_03: We live in a small town, but it's not really a small town.
- 12:27SPEAKER_03: We see our patients all the time.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: That's so cool.
- 12:30SPEAKER_03: The hard part is I want to say hi, but I don't, you know, at the same time.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: We try to respect their privacy, so we're not gonna we're not gonna go and like high-five of them in a big group and give them a big hug.
- 12:39SPEAKER_03: Because the natural question always comes, oh, how do you know them?
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: Oh, right.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: The funniest thing, and and you'll be surprised when we go to New York or go to other places, like you'll just be in the most random place and you'll see people you know.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: So I saw people I knew in in um Cannes, and Cannes, not Cannes, Cannes, France, uh, when we were there.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: You know, you just the world is a small place, so you just see acquaintances andor patients all over.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: We appreciate you listening.
- 13:08SPEAKER_03: If you like any of the the content, please subscribe, tell your friends, post it, share.
- 13:14SPEAKER_03: Thanks for being a part of the best plastic surgery podcast out there today.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: Always a pleasure to get to share uh our thoughts and uh concepts with you.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: Got any ideas or criticisms?
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: Don't tell us.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: I'm kidding.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: Let us know, and we'd love to discuss them more.
- 13:30SPEAKER_03: More, more Dr.
- 13:31SPEAKER_03: K less Dr.
- 13:32SPEAKER_03: B.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Mart Jasmine, hello.
