SPEAKER_00: MCP is not encountering resistance despite its success.
• 0:03
SPEAKER_00: It is encountering resistance precisely because of its success.
• 0:07
SPEAKER_00: When a technology really works, it stops being treated like a demo and it starts to be judged on the only thing that matters.
• 0:15
  SPEAKER_00: Control.
• 0:16
SPEAKER_00: That's what's happening with MCP, model context protocol.
• 0:20
SPEAKER_00: In just over a year, it has become the common language with which artificial intelligence models communicate with tools, data, and systems.
• 0:29
  SPEAKER_00: It is everywhere.
• 0:30
SPEAKER_00: In developer tools, prototypes, and experimentation workflows.
• 0:36
SPEAKER_00: Yet just as adoption is accelerating, companies are doing the opposite of what one would expect.
• 0:42
SPEAKER_00: They are not exposing it.
• 0:45
SPEAKER_00: They are closing it off.
• 0:46
SPEAKER_00: They mediate it behind increasingly rigorous layers of control.
• 0:51
SPEAKER_00: Contradiction only if you look at MCP through the wrong lens.
• 0:57
SPEAKER_00: A year of MCP looking at the facts in November 2024.
• 1:02
SPEAKER_00: Anthropic presented the model context protocol describing it as the USB C of AI, an open standard for connecting models and tools without custom integrations.
• 1:11
SPEAKER_00: HTTPS, a WW Anthropic.com, a number news model context.
• 1:17
SPEAKER_00: Protocol in March 2025, OpenAI officially adopts it.
• 1:21
  SPEAKER_00: Google follows shortly after.
• 1:24
SPEAKER_00: By the end of 2025, MCP SDKs exceed 97 million monthly downloads.
• 1:29
SPEAKER_00: Then comes the signal that really matters.
• 1:33
SPEAKER_00: In January 2026, Microsoft disables MCP by default in enterprise environments.
• 1:39
SPEAKER_00: GitHub Copilot requires centrally approved authorization lists.
• 1:47
SPEAKER_00: The most widely used protocol in modern AI is also the one that companies least want to leave exposed in production.
• 1:54
SPEAKER_00: This is not a warning sign.
• 1:56
SPEAKER_00: It is typical behavior for an organization when a technology ceases to be experimental and starts to really matter.
• 2:03
  SPEAKER_00: It's not an accident.
• 2:05
SPEAKER_00: It's a rational and predictable reaction to a technology that has stopped being optional.
• 2:11
SPEAKER_00: Fabio Lauria, CEO and founder.
• 2:14
SPEAKER_00: Elect the level that really makes the difference in practice.
• 2:18
SPEAKER_00: It defines how the model can ask the system to do something, read a file, query a database, call an API without custom integrations.
• 2:29
SPEAKER_00: That's what makes it so powerful.
• 2:31
SPEAKER_00: Once adopted, tools become immediately accessible to AI agents, and that's also why companies have started treating it with extreme caution.
• 2:40
SPEAKER_00: What big companies really do with MCP, spoiler, not what you think.
• 2:46
SPEAKER_00: The adoption numbers are impressive.
• 2:48
SPEAKER_00: The way MCP is released into production is much more cautious.
• 2:53
  SPEAKER_00: Bloomberg, speed.
• 2:56
  SPEAKER_00: Yes, exposure.
• 2:57
SPEAKER_00: No Bloomberg has stated that it has reduced time to production from days to minutes, thanks to MCP, but not by exposing MCP.
• 3:06
SPEAKER_00: It has built an internal mediation layer that translates, validates, and controls every call.
• 3:12
SPEAKER_00: The result is a system in which agents and tools collaborate freely, but under total control.
• 3:17
SPEAKER_00: Amazon MCP as an adapter, not as a surface.
• 3:21
SPEAKER_00: Amazon says, quoted by the Pragmatic Engineer, that most internal tools have added MCP support.
• 3:27
SPEAKER_00: HTTPS, blog pragmaticengineer.com, Amazon Internal Tools.
• 3:32
SPEAKER_00: The key detail is another.
• 3:45
SPEAKER_00: It was already part of the infrastructure.
• 3:48
SPEAKER_00: Microsoft, the most honest signal GitHub co-pilot business in enterprise, make MCP.
• 3:55
SPEAKER_00: Disabled by default, only activatable with explicit rules governed by organizational allow lists.
• 4:00
SPEAKER_00: In an official discussion on GitHub, one comment summarizes the position.
• 4:06
SPEAKER_00: MCP servers are too dangerous to be released at an organizational level without strict controls.
• 4:12
  SPEAKER_00: Unknown user.
• 4:13
SPEAKER_00: The pattern is always the same.
• 4:15
  SPEAKER_00: MCP lives inside.
• 4:19
SPEAKER_00: The data that explains why here the picture becomes less emotional and clearer.
• 4:23
SPEAKER_00: A 2025 academic study analyzed 1899 open source MCP servers.
• 4:29
SPEAKER_00: 7.2% with generic security vulnerabilities.
• 4:32
  SPEAKER_00: 5.5% vulnerable to MCP-specific tool poisoning.
• 4:36
SPEAKER_00: 66% with code defects HTTPS, Ratswand ArxSiv.org ABES 2506.13538A.
• 4:44
SPEAKER_00: Second study showed that an LLM can be induced via MCP2.
• 4:48
SPEAKER_00: Execute malicious code steal credentials, gain remote control over connected systems, HTTPS Arxiv.org ABS 2504.
• 4:56
SPEAKER_00: 0376 said an independent scans.
• 5:00
SPEAKER_00: Gnostic, backslash security, then found thousands of MCP servers without authentication with excessive permissions exposed on internal and public networks.
• 5:10
SPEAKER_00: The data that matters for decision makers: only 28% of Fortune 500 companies have MCP in production.
• 5:17
SPEAKER_00: 75% use it behind gateways, audits, and data loss prevention rules.
• 5:22
  SPEAKER_00: Gartner puts it diplomatically.
• 5:24
SPEAKER_00: By 2026, 75% of API gateway providers will include MCP features, HTTPS, diew at gartner.com, Duct and Articles, API gateway trends, meaning the control infrastructure is arriving now.
• 5:39
SPEAKER_00: The truth that the industry is now realizing MCP is not an application standard like HTTP or OAuth.
• 5:47
SPEAKER_00: It is an infrastructure layer.
• 5:49
SPEAKER_00: The problem is not that MCP is immature.
• 5:52
SPEAKER_00: The problem is that it has been judged as if it should be exposed when in fact it was created to be mediated.
• 5:58
SPEAKER_00: It is a classic category error.
• 6:00
SPEAKER_00: Three realistic ways in which MCP is used today.
• 6:04
SPEAKER_00: One, MCP is a secure operation center.
• 6:07
SPEAKER_00: In enterprises, MCP lives behind.
• 6:10
SPEAKER_00: API gateway firewalls and IP filters, automatic rules on sensitive data, mandatory logging of every call.
• 6:17
SPEAKER_00: Microsoft Copilot Studio makes it explicit.
• 6:20
SPEAKER_00: MCP is only accessible through governed connectors, HTTPS, just learn.microsoft.com, and Microsoft Copilot Studio 2.
• 6:30
SPEAKER_00: MCP has a personal lab.
• 6:33
SPEAKER_00: The 97 million downloads are not corporate releases.
• 6:36
SPEAKER_00: They are developers using MCP locally on Claude Desktop, cursor, VS Code.
• 6:43
SPEAKER_00: It is secure precisely because it does not touch production.
• 6:46
  SPEAKER_00: This explains the paradox.
• 6:48
SPEAKER_00: Very fast on laptops, very slow in data centers.
• 6:52
SPEAKER_00: MCP, dual track, the near future, open prototypes for experimentation, secure production for release, private registries, centralized governance, clear separation of layers.
• 7:05
SPEAKER_00: This is the model that is emerging for 2026.
• 7:09
SPEAKER_00: Why at Electi we treat MCP as infrastructure, not MagicAt Elect, we work with European SMEs that want to use AI without turning it into an operational risk.
• 7:19
SPEAKER_00: That's why MCP is not a feature to be sold, it is a layer to be governed.
• 7:24
SPEAKER_00: When we integrate data and tools, MCP lives in the back end behind controlled APIs with limited scopes and complete tracking.
• 7:33
SPEAKER_00: The customer sees analysis, not protocols.
• 7:36
SPEAKER_00: This is not excessive caution.
• 7:38
SPEAKER_00: It is the lesson that emerges from observing what Bloomberg and Amazon do, not what demos promise.
• 7:45
SPEAKER_00: Three concrete steps, not wait and see.
• 7:48
SPEAKER_00: DM wants experiment now, but within the right perimeter, use MCP locally to understand its potential without risk.
• 7:56
SPEAKER_00: Build governance before integrating tool registry, logging, sensitive data blocking.
• 8:02
SPEAKER_00: Without this, MCP does not go into production.
• 8:06
SPEAKER_00: If you build AI products, always separate the layers internal MCP for speed, external API for control.
• 8:15
SPEAKER_00: The Vertic MCP is not immature.
• 8:18
SPEAKER_00: It is a technology that arrived before the infrastructure that makes it governable.
• 8:22
SPEAKER_00: The right question for 2026 is not is MCP mature, but what layer of MCP are we ready to control?
• 8:31
SPEAKER_00: Because the future of enterprise AI will not be all open via MCP, but all controlled via mediated MCP.
• 8:41
SPEAKER_00: This is not an opinion.
• 8:43
SPEAKER_00: It is what happens when a technology becomes useful enough that it can no longer be ignored and enters real systems.
• 8:50
  SPEAKER_00: MCP cannot be stopped.
• 8:52
SPEAKER_00: We can only decide how it enters corporate systems, where it passes, and who governs it.
• 8:57
SPEAKER_00: And it is on these decisions, not on adoption itself, that the difference between experimentation and production is played out.
